Poll
Will the Dems' health care Christmas Present to America be an improvement or detriment to our health care system?

For the next six months, John McCain will be the most powerful Senator on Capitol Hill. Maverick no more, McCain should seize his newfound stature within “the world’s greatest deliberative body” to take five steps necessary to convince Americans that he has finally learned his lesson about our nation’s dangerously porous borders.

If McCain is serious about border security (he recently called the “virtual” fence in Arizona a “disaster”), here’s a short list of things McCain can do NOW to prove that he is truly willing to work with us. (McCain will never be one of us when it comes to the illegal alien invasion of this country, but, as I used to tell my clients when I was practicing law, “Half a loaf is better than none at all.”)

1. Fund The Fence. Yes, I know the Constitution requires that spending bills originate in the House of Representatives. But McCain, as the second-highest ranking minority member of the Senate Commerce Committee, is in a position to link the funding and progress of other politician’s cherished projects with real support for a REAL fence. [Note: I would prefer a wall].

A congresswoman from New Jersey is carrying a bill for her state’s pharmaceutical companies? She’ll have to agree to fund the fence if she wants McCain’s support in reporting the bill out of committee. A Democrat senator wants to add an “environmental protection rider to a trade bill? If he agrees to fund the fence, maybe there’s something to talk about. You get the picture.

And, while he’s at it, McCain can introduce the Senate version of H.R. 5124, Rep. Duncan Hunter’s bill to require the government to build at least 700 miles of 14-foot-high, double-layered fencing WITHIN SIX MONTHS.

Action on the fence, more than anything, will convince Americans that McCain has seen the light.

2. Demand Chertoff’s Resignation. The one man who symbolizes the abject failure of this Administration to secure our borders is Homeland Security secretary Michael Chertoff. McCain should call for Chertoff’s immediate resignation.

This is a win-win-win issue for McCain. Many Americans dislike Chertoff because of his department’s intrusive and ineffective airport security measures, including the insipid Shoe Carnival. (Thank goodness Richard Reid didn’t hide a bomb in his underwear). A demand for Chertoff’s resignation would distance McCain from the White

House on the issue of border security – appealing to voters with Bush fatigue. Since a sitting senator can’t unilaterally remove a Cabinet officer, McCain would receive credit for taking a strong position even though he wouldn’t be able to follow through until Inauguration Day.

Chertoff is particularly loathed by enforcement-first conservatives because Chertoff is the point man in the Administration’s masterplan to NOT build the border fence. Chertoff advocated the smoke-and-mirrors “virtual fence” which – surprise! – does not work.

By simply calling for Chertoff’s resignation, McCain can, with little risk to himself, demonstrate that he understands the frustrations and demands of the American people.

3. Save the SAVE Act.  The SAVE Act, which would add 8,000 Border Patrol agents and require employer verification of new hires’ work eligibility, is currently bottled up in the Senate Judiciary and Finance committees. McCain could easily twist a few arms and have the SAVE Act placed before the full Senate for a roll call vote. This would focus the country on the issue, and the vote will force double-talking senators to definitively choose a side.

4. An Enforcement-First G.O.P. Platform. In the past, some have debated that the Republican Platform is an unnecessary liability. Every four years, the liberal media spends too much time, and ink, vilifying the Republican Party over varying planks in the platform, while completely ignoring the Democrat Party platform.

But, since platforms are a part of our political tradition, McCain should demand that an enforcement-first approach to border control/security be a principal theme of the platform. Border security should be the first issue addressed in the body of the text. In fact, the subject fits squarely under an important title every American understands: “National Security.”

5. Vet the Right Veeps. No one expects McCain to announce his vice presidential selection for at least a few weeks. But now that McCain has obtained enough delegates to be the party’s nominee, all eyes are on his vice presidential search. McCain can use his selection to signal that he is serious about border security. While “enforcement-only” conservatives would be thrilled if McCain announced that he was formally vetting Tom Tancredo for the Number Two spot, I acknowledge that Tancredo can be painted as a divisive figure who could be demonized in 30-second attack ads. Duncan Hunter would also be a fine choice, but he lacks strong national name recognition (as evidenced by his poor presidential campaign performance this election).

Enter – re-enter – Mitt Romney. McCain does not have to formally announce Romney as his running mate, but, if the two start to appear together in public hatchet-burying ceremonies, voters will get the message – especially if Romney stumps for McCain while talking about border enforcement. I believe Romney is an excellent choice - particularly given Romney’s expertise on economic matters.

Let’s see if McCain takes any of these five steps and eases our concerns about his commitment to border security.

No amnesty, please!!!
This column has some good points for John "Mr. Amnesty" McCain to follow. I like all of the enforcement suggestions (including the ouster of the useless Michael Chertoff), and I love the idea of Mitt Romney as McCain's potential vice presidental runningmate.

However, a big one was left out -- NO AMNESTY for illegal aliens! McCain, to get my vote as well as the votes of my family and friends, must renounce amnesty for illegals, period. No ifs, ands or buts. Amnesty is simply not an option. If I wanted amnesty, I could vote for (gulp!) Hillary or Obama. If he won't renounce amnesty, then conservatives will stay at home in early November and send McCain back to his day job as the "maverick" senator who co-sponsors horrific illegal immigration amnesty bills.

Simply securing the border just so McCain can turn around and grant amnesty anyway to 20 million illegals -- and ruin America in the process -- is not good enough. In fact, a no-amnesty pledge is equally as important as a secure the border. The two need to go hand in hand.

James missed a very key point
made by the previous poster: NO AMNESTY!!!!!

And none of that semantic BS about some minor fine meaning amnesty isn't amnesty.

No regularization or legalization of any of the illegal aliens in the country....PERIOD!

Actions, Not Empty Pledges
Kevin James is the biggest amnesty opponent on the radio here in Los Angeles. He dislikes the idea of amnesty as much as you do.

I think the point of his column was that these are ACTIONS that John McCain can take TODAY to show he understands the issue. Anybody can claim they are against amnesty; that's just a pledge. But calling for the resignation of Skeletor would be a concrete action which, as James points out, would show that McCain is independent of the guy who endorsed him today.

To trust a McCain pledge or not?
Come to think of it, I am not sure that John McCain can be trusted even if he does renounce amnesty -- but it would be a start.

Because of his advanced age, I doubt that he would be more than a one-term president. Which means that he could be very dangerous, as he doesn't have to worry about getting re-elected. He could basically say, "Screw ya all" once he got into office -- kind of like our current so-called president does now.

I bet President Bush, who is dangerous, would be a lot more responsive in regard to the border if he needed our votes for another term. Maybe Bush is just trying to endear himself south of the border so that he can run for president of Mexico. He certainly isn't working for this country.

McCain is Fooling Us
Some have been fooled by McCain's statements about immigration and amnesty.

He has said vague things like "I have seen the light" and "Congress has failed to secure the border". Note that McCain is Congress and HE has failed to secure the border.

When he realized that he would never be elected with his immigration views,he said that the border needs to be secured but he has never said that he would do it.

He has recently stated several times: "My opinion on immigration is unchanged."

He wrote the $3 trillion McCain-Kennedy Amnesty Bill and, if elected, will sign that Bill when it is re-introduced.

McCain MUST state in writing in no uncertain terms that there will be no amnesty, borders will be secured and employers of illegals will be fined.

If McCain fails to stop his doubletalk and commit, then you know what he will do. If so, don't stay home on election day because responsible candidates for other offices need our support, but write in Romney instead of voting for McCain-Kennedy.

You have given us 2 through 6
Step 1 Promise to pardon Ramos and Compean the day he enters the WH.

McCain and securing the borders
I don't think he will make much of an issue about securing the borders because he wants the hispanic vote as indicated by his hiring of a leading proponent of immiogration reform, Juan Hernandez. No apple cart upsetting here!

Sydney Wasn't Born Here
I am a rule of law Independent who voted for McAmnesty in the 2000 Iowa Caucus only to be horrified by eight years of his reckless liberal legislative program, and his contempt for conservatives, which continues to this very day as he excluded them from the groups he thanked for nominating him. The above article and comments about a written agreement that includes no amnesty are excellent. I would add that Sidney has hired Ted Olson to write a brief on why the Constitutional requirement that Presidential candidates be born in the United States doesn't apply to Sidney, who was born in the Panama Canal Zone, and we should see those arguments NOW. From Article IV, Section 4 on protecting the states from invasion, to the 14th Amendment and its legislative history stating that anchor babies are not citizens, to the McCain-Feingold campaign finance DEform assault on the First Amendment, Sidney has shown that he would adopt a liberal interpretation of the Constitution (i.e., it doesn't mean what it says)as far as executive action is concerned, and that he would appoint "maverick" judges ("Penumbra Rangers") just like him. The contract should have a no activist judges provision.

With 85 to 90% of Americans for secure borders and ports, against amnesty, and for strict enforcement of the immigration laws passed as a result of the 1986 amnesty deal, resulting in repatriation by attrition, McAmnesty should not be able to get away with "enforcement first," which is code for a half attempt at border security followed by amnesty for 25 million illegals and terrorists. HE DOESN"T CARE WHAT WE THINK THOUGH--GREAT CANDIDATE FOR A NATIONAL ELECTION! This would have been a huge winning issue for Republicans had the right Presidential candidate been nominated. Good luck getting his signature! Romney-Watts 2012!

why no enforcement?
Amnesty John is simply Presidente Jorge redux about the ILLEGAL alien invasion. Juan and Jorge sold their disingenuous souls for Chamber/employer $ and Hispanic votes, but half of Hispanics supported tough new enforcement requirements on ILLEGALS in Arizona. Obama and Amnesty Juan want the same things to embrace ILLEGALS, but ironically we will watch Obama closer, just as we did Slick Willie when we forced welfare reform, balanced budgets, and spending restraint after being threatened with Hillary Care when REAL Republicans took control of Congress in '94.

America needs LEGAL, educated, skilled immigrants who will assimilate like millions before have, but the madding herd of ignorant, indigent, willfully culturally disparate ILLEGALS are an egregious threat to our socio-economic well-being. Building the wall is OK, but mainly symbolic. The real key is enforcing EXISTING laws-- stop the jobs, freebies, licenses, etc. The state most plagued by it, Az., is now seeing many ILLEGAL invaders pack up and vamanos back to Mexico because the people overcame Faustian pols and demanded tougher enforcement.

We MUST stanch and reverse the invasion soon, or lose America. A substantial majority of America wants to do so. It is like a cancer which has spread and will destroy the host body if not radiated, lest we morph into a third world entitlement state, which is OK with the well-to-do elites in both parties... they like their cheap maids and gardeners which the rest of us support, but it is slavery redux-- the legacy will again be dreadful.

You can join the fight to save America... simply contact people in Congress and speak your mind! It is easy/free to do right here with prepared e-mails via NumbersUSA, or write your own/call Congress at their official sites... bookmark them and bark at them often!

is McVain truly a conservative?
Amnesty John has been moving leftward for years, which explains why the MSM has embraced him-- he has delighted in sticking his wagging finger into the eyes of those right of center. Now he claims to be "the conservative in the race," but his voting record proves that few of his party are as liberal as he:

http://nationaljournal.com/voteratings/sen/lib.htm

With regard to ILLEGAL aliens, BillInOrlando is right... Amnesty John would hug them again if he were elected, BUT we should all vote otherwise for fiscal and limited government conservatives who will eschew the neoCON agenda that McVain also embraces.

Frankly, on the 2 critical mistakes of the Presidente Jorge tenure-- a war of choice against the wrong bad boys, and coddling ILLEGALS-- Amnesty John and Presidente Jorge are 2 peas in a rotten pod. Ergo, regardless of which liberal goes to the W.H., we need to send as many responsible people as possible to Congress and state positions.

Human Cloning Has Been Done
Juan McAmnesty is merely Jorge Bush cloned. They fooled us once with a supposed conservative Jorge, but I'm not falling for it again. Actually, Juan makes no attempt to even appear conservative. If a democrat is elected, we will surrender to Mexico and the Muslims. If Juan is elected, we will surrender to Mexico.
What a choice. Don't give me the supreme court argument either. Juan would clear his nominees with Ted Kennedy.

You Forgot The Most Important
Identify and severely punish employers who hire illegals.

This MUST be first. Without this no fence will stop the invasion.

ILLEGAL
John McCain....put up that wall!!!!

Mitt's the Man
You make some fine points. I agree about having Mitt as VP. He could enforce border security AND shore up our struggling economy. McCain should make him VP and actually give him authority and autonomy to head up these two tasks.

Secondly, you mention you prefer a wall. Well, I prefer a multi-layered 8 foot wall of gas eternally burning flames running the entire length of our border. Get through one pillar of fire? Well shoot, there are 2 or 3 more - Good luck to you!

memo to kevin james:
Don't hold your breath.

Put not your trust
in men, they will always betray you. I believe much of the anger directed towards jorge is that we fought so hard to get him elected twice and he's betrayed us and his oath to defend the Constitution. How can we be expected to accept his argument that we must fight them on the battlefield of Iraq (as important as it is) because if we don't, we will be fighting them here. Duh, and he expects us to just accept his
decree that the borders remain open, when we KNOW
we have been infiltrated by other than Mexican
peasants looking to do the jobs Americans won't do. He really must think Americans are too stupid to govern themselves and Juan McCain is
in agreement.
It's time to get down to some serious praying, folks because only God knows what's ahead for the U.S., and only He can restore our liberties
and culture. 2 chronicles 7:14

Traitor John
The main rason I'm so against McCain is the he tag-teamed with Kennedy and tried to stuff amnesty down our collective throats, knowing darn well some 75% of Americans were dead set against it. He and Kennedy tried every trick to pass the amnesty bill, and I would bet any amount the McCin is not done with that bill.
By granting amnesty to 20 million plus or minus 100%, we may be granting amnesty to murderers, rapists, thieves and drug smugglers.
Undocumented is what the pro-amnesty crowd wants to call them.
Undocumented because they sneak across the border with no documents, no birth certificate, no drivers license, no passport.
We know nothing about them except they are Mexican and they want to work.
These people are not good law abiding citizens or they would have some documentation.
How do we know that Mexico isn’t emptying out their jails and tell them “you’re free, but you must leave the country?
Castro did it in the seventies; he took murderers, rapists and thieves out of his jails put them on shoddy boats and sent them north to us. The results are all the Cuban gangs in Florida still with us today.
So all these undocumented people from Mexico just may be the rejects of Mexico, criminals from the get-go.
They have no remorse of breaking our laws, whether it’s coming in here illegally, obtaining a driver’s license illegally, social security card illegally, or a job illegally.
In my 58-year life here in the States, I have not broken so many laws, actually not even one.
If I as an American citizen got a fake social and drivers license and got caught I’d be in jail for quite a while.
My son and four other boys in their early twenties were going to Niagara Falls to the casinos. They held all four at the border, ran their records because one of them had a DUI conviction. They would not allow them into Canada, they had to come home.
No country in the world would accept any immigrant without papers, but we evidently do! And McCin is all for it. Go figure.

Good idea
"No regularization or legalization of any of the illegal aliens in the country....PERIOD!"

Fine and just keep 20 million (and growing every day) here as unknown persons, because you aren't going to deport them and they aren't going to leave--which gives you the only choice left--they stay as they are.

Because
"who was born in the Panama Canal Zone..."

Because at the time the CZ was part of the US just as Okinawa was (from 1945 until 1972), the Philippines from 1898 until 1946, Guam, Puerto Rico, American Virgin Islands, American Samoa, etc. Ever see those old convention films like from the 1950s and 1960s with the delegations to the conventions and seeing the sign "Canal Zone." The CZ when he was born was as much US territory as Arkansas--only unlike Arkansas it was not a state. In 1979, the US gave up control of the canal zone and returned it to Panama's control. In 1999 the canal itself was turned back to Panama, but when McCain was born, it was part of the US.

So there!

Tell me how exactly
"Identify and severely punish employers who hire illegals."

You plan to do this? Employers have no clue who is illegal or not. Even if you want to hire simply only legal workers. With so many fake documents out there and the threat of DOJ and others suing you if you make a mistake, you have no hope. Unless you want to introduce a biometric national ID card. Oh how do you plan to pay for the inspections which now number around 100 a year I think. Maybe just go to companies that have a lot of brown-looking people...the ACLU might have issues with that..a good number of courts might as well.

MEMO TO McCain - GET BENT!
John McCain was "P.O.W' and supposedly a American "War Hero" almost 50 years ago.

Benedict Arnold was a American "War Hero" at one time too!, How did that work out???

What has McCain done lately....

John McCain stabs the Conservatives in the back, while at the same time kissing the A **'s of the Socialist Candidates and Liberal Media.

He is a Lying, arrogant and vengeful S.O.B.!

If a Conservative disagrees with McCain, he calls them names and treats them like SCUM.

He passed McCain-Feingold, Now he says "HE" doesn't have to follow Campaign Finance laws.

He called everyone who disagreed with the McCain-Kennedy "Racist" and "Bigots"!

He said anyone who calls it "Amnesty" is a Liar!

If he was elected, he would go out of his way to punish anyone and everyone who were "Too Damn Stupid" to elect him in 2000.

He thinks he can continue to stab Conservatives in the back and they will vote for him anyway!

He's got all these RINO Republican Lackeys (Including this Loser) running around whining that we have to vote for him!

Soon they will be whining about how us "Conservatives" cost them the election because we deserted them.

I wonder what McCain will call us then?

enforce-- they will return attritively
re:
"Fine and just keep 20 million (and growing every day) here as unknown persons, because you aren't going to deport them and they aren't going to leave--which gives you the only choice left--they stay as they are."

Actually, as states like Az. pass tough new laws (because the feds won't do their jobs), many ILLEGAL aliens are packing up and going home to Mexico. The danger is NOT in our NOT giving licenses, etc., to ILLEGALS-- the 9/11 perps had a fistful of those which they used to effect their villainy.

This is part of the reason why 77% oppose seeming to legitimize lawbreaking behavior by granting licenses. And traipsing across the border/overstaying visas is just the first of many affronts-- any such miscreant who works is dodging taxes and/or committing identity theft and/or fraud at a minimum.

As for the alleged daunting challenge of employers determining valid I.D., funny thing, but the feds find that to be easy enough when they make their rare "show raids." Miscreant employers laugh about checking I.D. as they milk ILLEGAL aliens and let the rest of us subsidize the pandemic social-pathology costs.

He will call you
Idiots.

And he will be 100% correct. I like what the G-man calls you, the suicide bombers of the GOP--how fitting, because you and Islamic radicals share much in common.

The use of Social Security Numbers that do not agree with the person being imployed is already acknowledged by our government. In fact, SS already knows the employers that have the most bogus SSNs. The problem is when our SS administration notifies the employer, of the problem, little is done. We already have a system but we lack the resolve to enforce it.

Dubious
Lots of illegals leaving Georgia too...perhaps it has more to do with the the housing industry crash than laws that are totally unenforceable? How many inspectors does Arizonia have to see who is employing whom, with so many fake IDs how can the state prove the employer hired the illegal knowing he or she was in fact illegal? These laws that are said to cause all these self-deportations remind me of the story of the ant and the elephant...an ant crawled on the back of an elephant and as the elephant decided to bite the elephant, it hit a low branch across it's head and let out a moan of pain..the ant smiled and said "suffer mother."

I am betting these laws are having about as much impact as the ant did.

No Border Security/No National Security

You simply CANNOT have national security if you will not defend your own borders or enforce your own laws. Foreign nationals numbering in the thousands are entering our country at will daily. John McCain has done and will do NOTHING to stop it. Don't believe me? Ask Juan Hernandez!

Does the GOP Want To Survive?

It's really up to Sen. McCain. If he wants our votes, he has to earn them.

He said he heard us after the last amnesty fight. He heard two things right. We want the border secured and we don't trust them. There apparently was alot he didn't hear.

He hired Juan Hernandez, who represents foreign nationals illegally in our country as his hispanic outreach, instead of reaching out to someone from "You Don't Speak For Me" a group of citizens of hispanic descent who oppose illegal aliens.

He said a couple of weeks ago he would sign McCain/Kennedy if it were put on his desk.

If he wants my vote, there are a couple of things he could do.
1. Publicly dismiss and disavow Juan Hernandez and the Reconquista for which he stands.
2. Apologize for conspiring in secret with La Raza and Ted Kennedy and trying to jam amnesty down our throats.
3. Pledge to veto ANY amnesty bill.
4. Pledge to enforce the laws, including deportation, which is the penalty for illegal aliens.

It's up to Sen. McCain, he can represent the interests of American citizens and uphold the rule of law or he can continue to court the favor of liberals and illegal aliens.

I will not vote for the latter.

GOP-RIP?
21 enforcement measures were introduced by GOP Senators this week, John McCain was not one of them. They are showing signs of getting it. McCain is not, he still thinks surrender (amnesty) is the only option.

McCain-Bush pre-endorsement dialogue
I'll post this one last time.
Here's the chat I think occurred this week:

Mac: Appreciate ya goin' to bat for me Dubya.

W: Us open-border amigos gotta stick together.

Mac: Well, you done a dang good job of foolin' those conservatives by pretending to build a virtual fence.

W: (yuck, yuck). Yeah, my compadres at Boeing hep'd me out. They built a "whole lot of nothing." You might say it's "a lot of hat and no cattle."

Mac: Pure genius, Dubya. Heck, for awhile there, even I was startin' to think you're a village idiot.

W: Hey, easy there pardner!

Mac: Just kiddin'. Kinda. Sorta.

W: John, I hear those dad-burn grass-roots conservatives just don't wanna donate to your campaign. Don't worry, I've got some fat-cat buds that'll be happy to throw money your way...20 dollars at a time of course. They love cheap labor. You just gotta keep our southern flank wide open when you become Prez.

Mac: Si, senor.

W: I'm a countin' on ya "Ace." Ya think you and amigo Juan Hernandez can do it?

Mac: Si se Puede!

Fence to nowhere:
http://www.azcentral.com/arizonarepublic/opinions/articles/ 0305wedlets054.html

GRASSFIRE "Where's The Fence??"
GRASSFIRE "Where's The Fence??"

There have only been two sections of the designed, legislated, and approved, double-layered fence built. One section near San Diego, and the other at San Luis (Yuma), AZ. Both of these sections have been very highly effective at stopping illegal immigration.

We need more of this orginally designed, legislated, and funded fence.

I just signed a petition demanding our leaders in Congress to
build the border fence--as it was promised to us. I'm asking you
to join me in signing.

http://www.grassfire.org/242/petition.asp?PID=15638677&NID= 1

Thanks for joining with me, and I thank you for passing this on to friends.

Let them deport themselves.....
Let the illegals deport themselves.

- Secure the border: Fence, massive border patrols. Jail illegals caught trying to enter--see Joe Arpiao below.
- Dry up the jobs: Fine employers of illegals a serious amount of money, jail them for repeat offenses.
- Dry up government services: Welfare, drivers licenses (NC issues them (or did) without asking for immigration status).
- Dry up medical care: Treat only life-threatening cases, then see Joe Arpiao below.
- Withhold federal funds from states, counties and cities that do not cooperate in identifying and arresting illegals.
- Change the anchor baby thingy so that only babies born of parents legally here are U. S. citizens.
- Turn every illegal criminal over to Sheriff Joe Arpiao for his entire sentence, then deport him/her: Joe keeps his Maricopa County, AZ, prisoners in tents in camps in the desert, feeds them bologna sandwiches, makes them work on chain gangs, cable TV (required by law) shows only a religious channel and the weather channel), tells them if they don't like the accommodations, don't come back.

Then they go home on their own.

Well, Akagi, your usual drivel
You know what, dude? We don't catch all murderers or rapists, either.

So I guess your solution is to make murder and rape legal, right?

Great solution.

NUTNFINR SPAM
So you just post this on every immigration thread? Care to actually defend those positions at some point or just simply want to post and run?

1) can't jail 3 million people or more. Where are you going to house 3 million people, how much will it cost to feed them, cloth them, etc. How about the cost of putting them in jail--you can't simply lock people up with out charges on US soil. You have to convict them, there has to be a trial or at least a guilty plea--in short there has to be due process. This isn't 1942 and they aren't going to re-open Tula Lake. The US is not yet a police state.

2) How can you make sure the employers actually knew they were hiring an illegal? Work place inspections for immigration violations are about 100 per year, and how many businesses are there in the US?

3) Most Welfare is denied to most non-US citizens, and all illegals. WIC, food stamps, etc are for the US citizen children of illegal aliens and as they are US citizens have as much right to these services as you or I.

4) The "anchor baby thingy" is known as the 14th Amendment to the US Constitution and affirmed in US v. Wong Kim Ark (1898), good luck with that.

5) Not sure the citizens of that county would like to house the millions of illegals in this country and how long do you expect deporting 20 million people to take?

McCain: Boot Hernandez now!
If John "Mr. Amnesty" McCain can demand the resignation of dopey Michael Chertoff as head of Homeland Insecurity, then why doesn't he actually boot Juan Hernandez out of his campaign now and tell him to never come back? The smiley-faced, smooth-talking Hernandez, a true con artist, is no more than the Mr. Rogers of illegal immigration.

By the way, I believe Hernandez and Geraldo Rivera may actually be the same person (both are huge apologists for illegals, after all). Think about it: Has anybody ever seen them in the same room together? (Just kidding ... maybe.)

Our impotent government also needs to view Mexico in a different way -- not as our friendly "neighbor to the south" anymore. That's such bull!!! If a "neighbor" of yours broke into your house, after first dumping loads of trash at the doorway, committed crimes in your house, sucked money out of you, stole your identity and then felt entitled to stay forever, would he or she still be considered a good neighbor? I think not. We're fools if we believe otherwise.

True
BrianR:

Perhaps I'd feel better if the ICE went after those who murder and rape more so than those that spread pine straw.

Not sure if you can equate pine straw spreading with murder and rape either. And since you are so concerned about rape and murder, how well do you think the police will get cooperation if they start rounding up hotel maids and pine straw spreaders when they need to catch a murderer or rapist in that community.

Maybe they'd get "no si habla inglés" or "Me no see anything." Does that make you safer BrianR?

LOL, Akagi
Dude, what you wrote is totally irrelevant to the issue, or my post. The usual attempt at obfuscation.

The fact is we have laws regarding illegal aliens, their presence here, and the hiring of them, and your proposal is that we simply ignore those laws.

I'm calling it out as the foolishness it is.

We have LOTS of laws that can't be universally enforced. I'll even make it easier for you. Most speeders are never caught!

So I guess you're for simply doing away with all speed limits?

Akagi - ignorance of the law
is no excuse.

If I have a bag of powder in my pocket, and the police search me, and discover that it's cocaine, I go to jail for possession, even though I can't tell cocaine from cocoa.

If the gov't catches illegals working, the employer goes to jail.

No work, self-deport.

Remove illegals from the protection of law, and they will definitely self-deport. Automatic amnesty for anyone who commits a crime against an illegal, and the illegals will flood the border... going south.

The fact is, Akagi, you're not simply throwing up your hands in surrender by claiming we can't be rid of the illegals.... you don't want us to TRY.

In order to vote for McCain
He has to answer certain questions and sign a contract.

Q1) You say you intend to seal the border and 'then get on with the rest of it'. What is 'the rest of it'? Busting employers and deporting illegals, or a guest worker program?

Q2) Which do you think would be more effective; an electronic "virtual" fence, with camera operators 10 miles away, or a dual fence, 40 yards apart, interlaced with razorwire, mined with dye pack mines, and with seismic sensors every few hundred yards, and guards patrolling the U.S. side?

Q3) Are you willing to let deported illegals take their children with them, or if they will not take them, are you willing to expand the orphanage system to house the children of illegals?

McCain must sign a pledge that he will propose, promote and fund the building of the above fence, that he will use his veto power to shut down *anything else* Congress wants to do if they don't build the fence. He must sign a pledge that, once the border is sealed, he will "get on with the rest of it", and that "rest of it" means sanctions against employers and sactuary cities, and apprehension and deportation of illegals, however Quixotic, and does not include in any way a guest worker program.

This pledge must have a provision that if he fails to compy fully, he surrenders his citizenship and moves to Mexico.

Akagi - no they don't
"3) Most Welfare is denied to most non-US citizens, and all illegals. WIC, food stamps, etc are for the US citizen children of illegal aliens and as they are US citizens have as much right to these services as you or I."

Children are wards... of somebody. Fine, the kids can collect the welfare just like anybody else. Once we boot their parents out of the country they can walk (toddle, crawl) down to the appropriate welfare office, fill out the paperwork, and then collect the welfare.

You wanna play games with the Constitution? Fine by me. But I'm a helluva lot meaner than you are.

Fine, let the babies with valid U.S. birth certificates stay. But they're on their own; the parents go back to Mexico or wherever. The hospital that births them can either feed them or dump them in the back alley to die (we can pretend it's an abortion clinic).

Or we can stuff them in gov't run orphanages.
Either solution works for me but the parents of illegals go back home.

And btw, you are willfully naive about the status of our welfare system. Most of those programs which you claim the children have a right to are money-makers for the *parents*. There is no way to guarantee that food-stamps are only used by the children who are entitled to them. Madre, padre, and all sixteen uncles and aunts benefit. Heck, we decry the 'welfare moms' who are U.S. citizens because they have a litter of children just so they can suck that much more welfare; we decry the 'foster parents' who sponsor 13 kids in order to get the gov't checks. At least those crooks are here legally. We might not be able to stop them, but we can surely stop the foreigners.

President Akagi's Immigration Policy?
Mr./Ms. Akagi:

Use your energy constructively. Pretend you are running for President this year. What would your proposed immigration policy be? Note all restrictions and why. Keep in mind that the fate one of the world's longest lasting democracies is in your hands.

Since
Speed laws are used mostly as a way for governments to steal money via cop, so I am in favor of having rational speed limits which in most cases aren't the case in the US. And I always warn others of hidden highwaymen (aka cops).

But JDW if you go to the store and buy a bag of sugar thinking it is sugar you won't and that is the case with employers now. You don't know person a is illegal and if you don't hire him simply because you think he is, the DOJ will sue you into bankruptcy.

"We might not be able to stop them, but we can surely stop the foreigners."

Want to bet on that?

"But they're on their own; the parents go back to Mexico or wherever. The hospital that births them can either feed them or dump them in the back alley to die"

Such a Christian aren't we?

Juan Hernandez for Homeland Security
I think there is a higher probability that Juan McAmnesty would appoint Juan Hernandez as the Director of Homeland Security than there is that he would do any of the 5 things on this list.

President Akagi
Well after I recognized Taiwan and sent the navy to the Taiwan Straits....

You would never get this passed, but here goes.

1) Biometric based national ID cards for each citizen of the United States, a biometric based alien resident card and a biometric based alien workers card for aliens legally allowed to work in the US, but were not resident aliens. These cards would have a clearly marked expiry date.

Any legal alien not in these classes must have a valid passport. Any person wanting to fly, use interstate transports (trains, buses), rent a car, buy or rent property, apply for a job, open a banking account, etc must show these cards.

2) Any person hiring, renting, selling property to anyone without these cards would face stiff fines for the first offense, draconian fines for the second, a prison and confiscation of property/business on third offense.

Creation of a home registery where who lives where is known by the government. Non-US citizens/non-resident aliens must sumbit an application with the local police informing them where they are living.

3) All benefits EXCEPT for healthcare to prevent death or the spread of a disease to the general population would be eliminated from anyone who was not legally in the US. No state would be required to provide any benefits except above which includes education at any level.

4) Only children born to US citizens or legal resident aliens would be given citizenship based on Sur Soli.

5) The creation of a light infantry division under the DHS to secure the border.

6) Once the following steps have been accomplished, a guest worker program so US businesses can import the low paid, low skilled workers it needs--based on the model used in Taiwan in the mid-1990s

7) Normalization of those long-term illegal aliens who have actually established ties to the US and have been a benefit to the country.

On and Iowa
Much of my program is stolen from Taiwan who took it from Japan--neither have much of an immigration problem, but the US doesn't have the will to do this sort of thing. Can you imagine the out cry over a national ID card or home registry (both features of Japan and Taiwan for more than a century if not longer)? The N word would be used (Nazis), the F word (Fascists), the P word (Police State)...so never going to happen....EVER.

MCCAIN
He is not going to seal the border or stop amnesty. Clinton and Obama are not going to do that either. I saw a clip with a woman from La Raza giving a speech about how much power Latinos have in our election. She said McCain is well aware of that. BUT if our government would only make sure they check ID of voters and verify they are legal before allowing them to vote they would lose a lot of that power. What McCain has to decide is whose votes are more important. Americans or Mexicans. And the first thing he should do is fire Hernandez. No more appeances of Ex Pres Fox in America. No more of him telling us we need these illegals. No more of Hillary standing up in a room of Latinos and saying noone is illegal and that America needs a change of heart. If John McCain is so compassionate (with our money) then why has he allowed illegals to be exploited for low wages all these years? Why has a country as wealty as Mexico not created decent paying jobs for it's people. Why have the corrupt leaders allowed American companies to move in and pay their people slaves wages? And now Fox makes speeches here trying to act as if he cares about his people?
No matter who wins this election, they are going to somehow push amnesty thru. And there will be open borders. They are not only going for Mexican voters they are going for the North America Union. This government has taken our jobs and made our homes worthless. They have sent our young off to die in a war in Iraq. They say they will bring our soldiers home. Home to what. To no future. To no jobs. To being invaded by another country.
Our war now is not only at the Mexican border. It is against allowing illegals to fight us with our money.
They say they will take over California. Okay, but you will no longer get welfare, SS. free medical. And without that what will they have. The same thing they had in Mexico. And that is what our government wants all of us to have.

Illegal Suggestion
I agree if people who sell or rent housing to and employers who hire illegals are fined the tresspassers will for the most part go back on their own.
If the feds are not willing to encourage local governments to do this we could all just stop paying texes, they can't round up all 300 million of us, can they?

To Myke
You say that "this government" has done this to America and "they" have done that to America. Please substitute "George W. Bush" in both places. Our so-called president has all but single-handedly ravaged our once-proud country, involving it in a needless war, bankrupting it, letting it be overrun by illegals (while, in turn, imprisoning the same Border Patrol agents who were merely trying to protect this nation).

Please say that my tax dollars aren't going to fund the salary of this worthless, pathetic leader (and I use the latter term lightly) who thinks Mexico first whenever making his warped policy decisions. He is a traitor and a disgrace to America.

Two lessons from the Bush presidency. First, never elect a president who has abused drugs and/or alcohol in the past, as those endeavors are driven by emotional problems or at least lack of maturity. Second, never elect anybody from Texas as president again. Bush, a Texan, will go down as our worst-ever president, bar none. Fellow Texan Lyndon B. Johnson, who also involved us in a needless war, has to be a close second.

Hey Kevin
Getting McShame to do those five things is like asking OJ to stay out of trouble. It won't ever happen. The guy is worse than a Democrat. That's why I will do everything in my power to keep him out of the White House, even if it means voting for the opposition.

Has anyone notice the steep decline in TH reader cooments since McShame sewed up the nomination? The conservative base morale is very low right now. Voter turnout will be key. The Dems will have record turnout, while many conservatives will stay home. The RINO voters claim that the fact McShame won the nomination is proof he has the support of conservatives. They cannot be more wrong. The only reason McShame won in the primaries was the Democrat cross-over voters who were seeking the weakest GOP candidate, and they got their wish.

Anybody but McCain.

Buck
HR 1843 would extrend the termination date of temp ag workers as would s.988. There a point to this?

And the H2 visa is a visa for ag. workers who come to the US on a temporary basis to work in the US ag industry. The ag industry claims the number of visas available is far short of the numbers needed and this visa type is a non-immigrant visa if you didn't know. Plan to work on a farm are we Buck?

To Gambler5112
If you catch a bad fish in the ocean, you throw it back, right? Why can't the Republican Party do the same with John "Mr. Amnesty" McCain?

He clinched the party nomination, sure. I may be wrong, but I don't believe the party delegates are required to rubberstamp him. They could show some courage and simply reject him for the loser that he is, then put up Mitt Romney at the convention.

I agree that Democratic crossover voters sent McCain to victory because he is the party's weakest link. Romney was seen as a threat because of his resume, success and intelligence. That needs to be changed in ALL states -- no Dems voting in Republican primaries, period.

To V.Patriot and NUTINFINR----
To you two excellent bloggers and others who think like you, I, 1000% agree with you. I am a Duncan Hunter, Tom Tancredo, and Joe Arpaio supporter. Those men would be a large part of my dream team to run this great country. I live in a santuary city and know the illegal alien problem well. If something is not done soon to curb this plague, things could get really tuff and dirty. Yes, I wrote in Hunter and also want Ramos and Compean freed soon. Maybe jorge shrub will move to mexico after january. Just wishing.

Blame it on the Dems
As you can see by the numbers, the Democrats by large margains voted in their own primaries. If The Dems can be used to explain this, why did Mccain lose in Georgia where Dems can vote in the GOP and since Obama was assured to win by a large margain could easily vote in the GOP primary and not fear having Hillary win the state.

Why did McCain win Florida? And on and on where there were GOP-only primaries.

The Dems didn't put McCain in, the GOP did.

Weakest link
The weakest link would be someone like Tancredo or Hunter (would they have won a single state?). As polls indicate now, McCain beats Hillary and as bad as the GOP is (an unpopular war, an economy taking on water, a housing crisis, etc) that McCain is even close is testimony as how strong he is as a candidate--the only people that see him as the weakest link are the loons on the lunatic fringe.

Akagi
Didn't you go down at Midway?

Akagi, as usual
you're full of crap.

Your comment justifying speed laws as simply a revenue source is childish and idiotic.

You simply can't answer the analogy or rationalize or justify your stupid position, so you make absurd statements.

I'm sure you still wish I'd burned up in the fire; I wish you'd grow some brain cells.

If brains were dynamite, you don't have enough to blow your own nose.

hey kevin james
if scooter can have his sentence commuted without a
"comprehensive analysis by the justice department before i would consider any action as to the 2 border agents"
as bush lied to the press to avoid freeing the border guards, mccain should immediately let campeon and ramos out of prison by commutation minimum.

bush lied. there is no requirement in the constitution that binds the hands of the president to pardon, commute, etc. any federal prison term by any department of justice. it didn't even exist at its ratification.

free ramirez and campeon Juan Mccain!

Ain't gonna happen....
Once a liberal, always a liberal. McCain will not chenge. I don't know who told you all that he will, but they are absolutely wrong. Amnesty is the order of the the day with him and he will allow it when he is POTUS. No doubt about it. That is exactly why I didn't vote for him in the GA primary and I will not vote for him in November. No matter what he "says" he will do, he won't change his mind on this. Nope. Ain't happenin'.....

I'm going to hunker down and weather the liberal storm we are about to be in. McCain is going to get his butt whopped in November and it's the GOP's fault. We have become a bunch of weak minded weinnies. I'm going to hold on to my wallet and hope for the best. McCain will NOT get my vote. Never. Nope.

McCain's litmus test ?
Is the U. S. citizen MUTED about illegal immigration ? Everyone agrees with Kevin ?

Or is this country divided on various solutions to the serious problems along our southern border ? Kevin James seems to say McCain must absolutely carry out whatever the Far Right GOP intends to do about the problems.

In his opinion what others in the Party feel, or what non-Republicans think, or American hispanics or Democrats want --all this can go to hell. McCain must pledge his allegiance to the Fringe Right, and to white supremacist America. This is the GOP, only this.

Kevin thinks we have no room in America for illegals -- OR for anybody who sympathizes with them. That includes the President ! He's telling the man who might be our President there is no other option open to him but --play ball and don't even THINK of what rank and file voters ask.

"Mr. President; citizens won't decide such matters when you become the Man. They're fools."

I recall just recently citizens of another party were instructed quite the same way-- USSR citizens, by their one party which held power and authority over their lives. The party of Communism.

Is a racist running things here ?
For instance; coming from a purported American, see his fringe-right rhetoric:

"Do you chinky boys study Propaganda Bull Crappin' over there in Commie Land? Ahhhh Soooo!"

That's Buck, a neck of red and a butt of white. Fine lad, that stomper.
