Will the Dems' health care Christmas Present to America be an improvement or detriment to our health care system?

WASHINGTON -- When you're up to your waders in barracuda, blame the media.

And quit your job.

And say you did it for the people.

And hire an agent.

And try to keep a straight face.

On your way to the bank.

Nobody ever went broke underestimating the intelligence of the American public, H.L. Mencken once said. Terribly elitist fellow, that Mencken. If only he were alive to witness the phenomenon of Sarah Palin, whose biography validates every cynical thought that ever found expression in his prolific prose.

Let's just say, Palin is in no danger of going broke. From her book contract alone, she never has to worry about money again, according to one close insider.

She may be politically dead -- "If I die, I die. So be it," as Palin recently put it -- but that likelihood depends on how one defines politics. In fact, adding mystery to confoundedness, Palin has enough supporters and fundraising potential to put a ground game in play in a matter of seconds. Just to toss in a sports metaphor, if I may.

Meanwhile, getting real, can we stop pretending that Palin is interested in anything other than her own ambition?

Can we also stop nodding assent every time she says the media are to blame for her self-inflicted wounds? The media invented Sarah Palin. Before the media shone their light on those no-place-like-home slippers, does anyone recall ever wondering what a governor of Alaska was up to?

Not that Alaska isn't a beautiful, wildlife- and resource-rich state. And not that we don't all admire the rugged, frontier spirit that makes Alaskans our kind of Americans. But it took the benighted East Coast media to put one Sarah Palin on the map of the lower 48.

There's nothing wrong with ambition, of course. No one gets to the White House or the Iditarod finish line without it. But claiming selfless virtue -- not to mention solidarity with wounded soldiers in Kosovo and Landstuhl -- over personal preference is a herring of a different color.

"Let's face it, she just doesn't really want to govern and she's doing what's best for her," said a Republican campaign strategist who has worked with Palin.

"This is a win/win," said another. "It's a win for her because she is not politically viable, and now hopefully she can make a lot of money, have balance and affect culture in a positive way. It's a win for the Republican Party because she was the female version of (George W.) Bush in some ways. She is not intellectually curious. We need and have smart, competent alternatives."

Undoubtedly and understandably, Palin is weary of the fray. The crucial turning point was the attacks on her family. No one can honestly make the case that the Palins didn't take more heat than other public families. That said, it isn't difficult to avoid media attention. All one has to do is go to Alaska and stay put. But Palin, like the giddy Icarus, seems drawn to heat and light.

Palin also blamed frivolous ethics charges as a reason for her premature retirement. Alaskans lately have turned against the once-popular governor and filed complaints that have run up legal fees in the $500,000 range. Nobody wants that, surely, but that's chump change for Palin, whose supporters tossed $400,000 her way the first month SarahPac went online.

Finally, Palin blamed "a full-court press from the national level picking away right now" and said she "knows exactly when to pass the ball so that the team can win. And that is what I'm doing -- keeping our eye on the ball that represents sound priorities. Remember, they include energy independence and smaller government and national security and freedom. And I know when it's time to pass the ball for victory."

Fortunately, Palin has hired a writer to help with her tell-all.

Insiders confirm that Palin felt she couldn't accomplish as much as a besieged governor as she can as a private citizen working behind the scenes. While those facts may be true, the sidebar reveals a convenient rationale. The usual rule applies: Follow the money.

As a public speaker, Palin will be golden. Other rumors circulating suggest a television show, a possible newspaper column (but remember, Palin hates the mainstream media), and fundraising gigs where the erstwhile vice presidential candidate can retain her hot spot on center stage.

If that is altruism, there's a lakeside house in Wasilla with a fabulous view of Russia you're just gonna love.

No surprise here!
Somehow we all knew Kathleen would be sure to add to the Palin bashing.

Yes, Kathleen! The social cons
are going to come onto this thread with a vengeance - FULL FORCE! - and rant and rave and call you every name in the book.

But YOU have the last laugh, Kathleen. Always remember that: YOU WERE RIGHT about Sarah and THEY WERE WRONG.

These rabid, Sarah-lovin' social cons will NEVER let you live that down. YOU WERE RIGHT, Kathleen. And THEY'RE WRONG.

"Only dead fish go with the flow".

Oh, please; how profound! What Cartesian logic! In Friday's speech she ridicules those who "take the quitter's way out"... and then she... QUITS!

Oh! This is too rich! Surely this MUST be some sort of terribly clever parody she's foisting on us. Maybe Friday's performance will be revealed as another Tina Fey skit after all and all this BizarroLand speechmaking will begin to make some sense.

You're the man, Kathleen. Keep tellin' it like it is!

HA, KP!

It Palin waltzes to the bank, it will be due to "journalists" like you.

I hope that she makes a fortune just because of you, Andrew Sullivan and, Maureen Dowd.

Have you determined who Trig's mother is, yet?

BTW, I am a Constitutionalist and do not think that Palin is the best thing since sliced bread.

Maybe try a lil KP
Watch your thoughts; they become words.
Watch your words; they become actions.
Watch your actions; they become habits.
Watch your habits they become character; Watch your character; it becomes your destiny.

You consistantly rate among the lowest viewed and rated columnists here. Coincidence ?

will - as confused as ever...

will writes: "You're the man, Kathleen."

Ouch... a hyper-gay male tells Katy that she's "the man"...

that's priceless...

rotfl...

KP

You need to return all of the money that you have been given writing about Sarah Palin or better yet pay her directly.

You don't want her to write a book, but you are still writing about her.

What a hypocrite you are!

kp
if you had the best interests of your country at heart instead of your own personal aggrandizement, you would have recognized that obama was the worst thing that could have happened, and you would have held your criticism. you did not,you did not, and you did not. you aided and abetted the enemy of our country. go away. accept the praise of our enemies. you earned it. go away.

The Lies of Sarah Palin (1)
Somebody brought up Andrew Sullivan's site:

After you have read these, ask yourself: what wouldn't Sarah Palin lie about if she felt she had to?

Palin lied when she said the dismissal of her public safety commissioner, Walt Monegan, had nothing to do with his refusal to fire state trooper Mike Wooten; in fact, the Branchflower Report concluded that she repeatedly abused her power when dealing with both men.

Palin lied when she repeatedly claimed to have said, "Thanks, but no thanks" to the Bridge to Nowhere; in fact, she openly campaigned for the federal project when running for governor.

Palin lied when she denied that Wasilla's police chief and librarian had been fired; in fact, both were given letters of termination the previous day.

Palin lied when she wrote in the NYT that a comprehensive review by Alaska wildlife officials showed that polar bears were not endangered; in fact, email correspondence between those scientists showed the opposite.

Palin lied when she claimed in her convention speech that an oil gas pipeline "began" under her guidance; in fact, the pipeline was years from breaking ground, if at all.

Palin lied when she told Charlie Gibson that she does not pass judgment on gay people; in fact, she opposes all rights between gay spouses and belongs to a church that promotes conversion therapy.

Palin lied when she denied having said that humans do not contribute to climate change; in fact, she had previously proclaimed that human activity was not to blame.

Palin lied when she claimed that Alaska produces 20 percent of the country's domestic energy supply; in fact, the actual figures, based on any interpretation of her words, are much, much lower.

Palin lied when she told voters she improvised her convention speech when her teleprompter stopped working properly; in fact, all reports showed that the machine had functioned perfectly and that her speech had closely followed the script.

The Lies of Sarah Palin (2)
Palin lied when she recalled asking her daughters to vote on whether she should accept the VP offer; in fact, her story contradicts details given by her husband, the McCain campaign, and even Palin herself. (She later added another version.)

Palin lied when she claimed to have taken a voluntary pay cut as mayor; in fact, as councilmember she had voted against a raise for the mayor, but subsequent raises had taken effect by the time she was mayor.

Palin lied when she insisted that Wooten's divorce proceedings had caused his confidential records to become public; in fact, court officials confirmed they released no such records.

Palin lied when she suggested to Katie Couric that she was involved in trade missions with Russia; in fact, she has never even met with Russian officials.

Palin lied when she told Shimon Peres that the only flag in her office was the Israeli flag; in fact, she has several flags.

Palin lied when she claimed to have tried to divest government funds from Sudan; in fact, her administration openly opposed a bill that would have done just that.

Palin lied when she repeatedly claimed that troop levels in Iraq were back to pre-surge levels; in fact, even she acknowledged her "misstatements," though she refused to retract or apologize.

Palin lied when she insisted that the Branchflower Report "showed there was no unlawful or unethical activity on my part"; in fact, that report prominently stated, "Palin abused her power by violating Alaska Statute 39.52.110(a) of the Alaska Executive Branch Ethics Act."

The Lies of Sarah Palin (3)
Palin lied when she claimed to have voiced concerns over Wooten fearing he would harm her family; in fact, she actually decreased her security detail during that period.

Palin lied when asked about the $150,000 worth of clothes provided by the RNC; in fact, solid reporting contradicted several parts of her statement.

Palin lied when she suggested that she had offered the media proof of her pregnancy with Trig to "correct the record"; in fact, no reports of her medical records were ever published; and the letter from her doctor testifying to her good health only emerged hours before polling ended on election day, even though there was nothing in it that couldn't have been released two months earlier.

Palin lied when she said that "reported" allegations of her banning Harry Potter as mayor was easily refutable because it had not even been written yet; in fact, the first book in that series was published in 1998 - two years into her first term - and such rumors were never reported by the media, only circulated as emails.

Palin lied when she denied having participated in a clothes audit with campaign laywers; in fact, the Washington Times later confirmed those details.

Palin lied when asked about Couric's question regarding her reading habits; in fact, Couric's words were not, "What do you read up there in Alaska?" or anything close to condescension.

Palin lied when she mischaracterized the "$1200 check" given to Alaskans as the permanent fund dividend check; in fact, that fund had yielded $2,069 per person, and she claimed otherwise to obscure the fact that Alaskans also received a $1200 rebate check from a windfall profits tax on oil companies - a tax widely criticized by Republicans.

Palin lied when she claimed to be unaware of a turkey being slaughtered behind her during a filmed interview; in fact, the cameraman said she had picked the spot herself, while the slaughter was underway.

The Lies of Sarah Palin (4)
Palin lied when she denied having rejected federal stimulus money; in fact, she continued to accept and reject the funds several times.

Palin lied when she claimed that legislative leaders had canceled a meeting with her to hold their own press conference; in fact, they only canceled it after being told she would not participate, and the purpose of the press conference was very different from the meeting's.

Palin lied when she announced on the news that she never holds closed-door meetings; in fact, she had just attended a closed-door meeting with the legislature earlier that day.

Palin lied when she said that former aide John Bitney's "amicable" departure was for "personal" reasons; in fact, Bitney said he was fired because of his relationship with the wife of Palin's friend, plus a Palin spokesperson later claimed "poor job performance" for his firing - without elaborating.

Palin lied when she said she kept her running injury a secret on the campaign trail; in fact, her bandaged hand was clearly visible in photographs and the story was widely talked about.

Palin lied when she claimed that Alaska has spent "millions of dollars" on litigation related to her ethics complaints; in fact, that figure is much, much lower, and she had initiated the most expensive inquiry.

Palin lied when she denied that the Alaska Independence Party supports secession and denied that her husband had been a member; in fact, even the McCain campaign noted that the party's very existence is based on secession and that Todd was a member for seven years.

"Like Kuneytzov the clear sighted
she retreats in order to advance.”?

Imagine how Sarah Palin can strike fear now.

The manner in which she and her family have been drawn and quartered for poor character sport has been abhorrent. Regrettably, one can't unleash on others when you've a position of responsibility in our society.

The crotch level insults against her and her family by MSM marginals and ‘audience share and ratings hunters’ such as Letterman, Andrew Sullivan, Kathleen Parker, Sally Quinn and the also rans at HuffPo, were free, face punches until Palin’s statement of demarche.

I'd suspect that unleashed, Ms. Palin will now be able to throat punch some hostiles.

All in all, the left saw her good manners and constraints and abused it.

Wherever Sarah Plain now fixes her gaze, I hope she is strong and resolute.

For she has become the target of every media marginal that curries favor with the American left along with some D.C. loitering, weak sisters that serve as Republican touts.

Payback may come via huge speaking engagements, favorable popular sentiment and a woman that will be able to confront low brow citizens such as Andrew Sullivan without the strictures of her office.

Back in the 1950’s headlines read, “Ike unleashes Chaing Kai-shek.” It was fanciful and lead to nothing as the die was cast and Kemoy and Matsu weren’t enough to jump for.

Sarah Palin’s leash has been her civility, her sense of office and its requirements. Sarah has taken off her leash without assistance from the National Party or any overlord.

This is an unleashing that belongs to the sole proprietor. Such an unthethering is the freedom to slip constraints and take on the vile, the vulgar and the venial.

Whatever her intentions, she's due support from those of us that consider ourselves dignified Americans with notions of right and wrong and the difference between the proper and the grotesque.

Ms. Palin now comes announced and expected. Tremble faux chic.

the truth hurts
As usual, KP tells the truth. For the most part, only the hard core right wing of the GOP has fallen for Palin's many lies. Unfortunately, I agree that the media has indeed helped Palin, and she now will turn this into millions. I am not one who believes she is dumb. She is calculating and anyone who has followed her career path sees that she has stomped all over people to get where she is. She is no fool..saw that many mainstream repubs became aware that she would be a disaster as a Pres or VP, and she has parlayed her victimhood, her so called plain talk, and her outgoing personality into riches for herself and her family. I don't fault her for that one bit, but m relieved it now is unlikely that she will actually live in the White House.

Where to begin?
There's so much wrong with this column that it defies analysis. Its density of problems calls to mind a neutron star.

One representative passage: "The media _invented_ Sarah Palin. Before the media shone their light on those no-place-like-home slippers, does anyone recall ever wondering what a governor of Alaska was up to?"

The media invented Palin? How? By covering her campaign for the second-highest office in the country? What would she have had to do to _deserve_ attention from godlike beings like Ms. Parker? Live in a theme park? Have same-sex sleepovers with unrelated children? Dangle her own baby out an upper-story window? Die of drug abuse?

Surely the dinosaur branch of the media would've preferred the most inviting alternative to covering Gov. Palin -- simply ignoring the Republican ticket in its entirety and presenting All Obama, All the Time. They came close. But even those simpletons realized that approach wouldn't work very long.

The media _invented_ campaign-finance reform. They _invented_ the mass destruction of Mesopotamian antiquities in the early days of the Iraq war. They _invented_ the theft of the 2000 presidential election by Boy George. (Even the _New York Times_ eventually, quietly, grudgingly disavowed that one.) They _invented_ defeat in Vietnam. They _invented_ Fidel Castro and Uncle Joe. But Sarah Palin lived and breathed long before anyone back east transited flyover country to destroy her.

"[D]oes anyone recall ever wondering what a governor of Alaska was up to?"

Gosh, I'll bet that the people of Alaska pay attention their governor. Maybe it's time for the scribbling class to try wrapping its collective mind around that concept: the people of Alaska. Yes, people live there. Not just any people, United States citizens. In fact, Alaska is a state.

Maybe this is the origin of the term _news media_ -- everything seems to be news to them.

Kathleen Parker
is once again right on about Sarah Palin.
She told you so!

A close second to will and his 4 excellent posts.

Kathleen Parker - true courage
KP was right all along. She called for Sarah Palin to drop out before the election, because Palin was ignorant and not qualified to be president.

Unfortunately most in the Republican Party didn't have Parker's courage. Dozens of news paper, including Republican one, endorsed Obama saying Palin didn't know enough to be president. Colin Powell gave a critical endorsement against McCain for the same reason shortly before the election, killing any momentum which McCain had built.

Because of McCain's selection of Sarah Palin, and most of the Republican media supporting her, we have Obama as president and a congress full of Democrats.

Looks to me
like Sarah made a career decision, based on enhancing her future prospects to make money and get elected to higher office. Something like Al Gore did when he lost as VP candidate. Or Alcee Hastings did when he got disbarred for accepting bribes as a judge. The only thing that puzzles me is why is KP picking on Sarah? Sarah's career up to now is one of solid conservatism. Until she does something to change that, she has my qualified support. Certainly i'm not going to change my opinion due to a superficial convoluted bash piece like KP writes.

Echo chamber
The biggest problem with the Republican Party is it has become an echo chamber. Everything is "us" versus "them", where they are utterly evil and our people can never do anything wrong.

This was true not just for Palin, but with John McCain (nothing but fluff columns about his war record, St. John the Maverick POW) and with a lack of interest in anything President Bush was doing. For example, it took a grass roots movement OUTSIDE of the Republican media to kill amnesty.

Peggy Noonan got it right last year:

"I gather this week from conservative publications that those whose thoughts lead them to criticism in this area are to be shunned, and accused of the lowest motives... In all this, the conservative intelligentsia are doing what they have done for five years. They bitterly attacked those who came to stand against the Bush administration. This was destructive. If they had stood for conservative principle and the full expression of views, instead of attempting to silence those who opposed mere party, their movement, and the party, would be in a better, and healthier, position."

This column . . .
smacks of petty jealousy, pure and simple. Why don't you save your catty chatter for the spa, Ms. Parker?

One more time
Sarah Palin is just not classy enough for the elitists (Kathleen included). Folks that "tell it like it is" are just too déclassé. This LADY (emphasis made on purpose) has a lot of common sense that most Ivy League intellectuals don't have and, more importantly, has a pure heart with unselfish motives. In this narcissistic society, people don't understand that. Why is it that so many women bash her? I think they look in the mirror and don't like what they see. Sarah reminds them that they are character deficient. Me thinks that Sarah is going to end up having the last laugh.

Read Sandy Rios
Ms. Parker needs to read her Townhall.com colleague's comments to get some balance:
http://townhall.com/columnists/SandyRios/2009/07/07/palin_w hy_she_left_is_no_mystery?page=full&comments=true

Can just stop pretending
That Ms Parker has anything worthwhile to say?

wrightsong
What is it about Will you like so much? His filibuster by blog? His cut and paste of liberal talking points? His style of propaganda?

marcmat and al are right
Ms. Elitist Parker (wallowing in her own egoism as usual) IS jealous and petty. Just like most media liberawhomho just can't stand people - REAL people that they cannot ever understand. The media covered Palin yeah - but they didn't "make" her as Ms. Parker (with all her egoism on display here again) claims. In fact, they tried everything in their power to do nothing but continually dog her. The American people liked her, and well that's just an intolerable thought for the elitists. She's the only reason McCain received more than 10% of the vote. Ms. Parker, and others like her, look in the mirror everyday - then they see someone like Mrs. Palin and suddenly their own empty, vapid lives become unbearable. Kind of like light shining on darkness. People like Ms. Parker get their eyes hurt by the reality - they prefer darkness because then they can pretend they even matter. What a sad, empty individual Ms. Parker must be. We should pity her really. Her own words indict her, and she can't even see it. So much for elitist superiority........it doesn't exist except in their own minds. But I guess you have to fill emptiness with something - but what a poor choice.

What's Her Problem?
I admit to being continually amazed at Parker's seemingly antagonistic attitude towards Sarah Palin. While I can agree that Palin isn't ready for prime time for the presidency and couldn't vote for her I do happen to believe that SHE believes she's doing what's best for her state and family. I also believe that she represents the opinion of many of us that our government is on the wrong track; that it is becoming too big and too intrusive. That opinion is shared by more people every day. While she may never be again elected to public office, she may indeed have a platform from which to encourage people to pay attention to what's happening to our country and allow us to force an out of control Congress and administration back to fiscal and social responsibility. I've been an admirer of Parker's for some time, but the tenor of her attacks on Palin truly puzzle me and makes me wonder why she's become so petty.

Parker's right. Deal with it.
Bill: "You consistantly rate among the lowest viewed and rated columnists here. Coincidence ?"

The drooling rightard denizens of this site don't like reading the truth, and never have.

Imagine, complaining about ethics complaints -- they are the only chance we as citizens have to keep our pols' noses clean. If she wasn't using state funds to ferry her kids around, or telecommuting from Wasilla on the state's dime, or didn't employ her office to prosecute a private vendetta, there wouldn't have been any ethics complaints.

Jack Napier
The problem, Jack, is you must have only watched the coverage on MSNBC. I noticed that they played only the ethics part of the interview, and omitted the rest of the story. You have to try some other brands of news.

Truth revealed
Well, KP nailed the Palin matter a while back and has been getting hammered ever since. Recent developments vindicate KP's 'infamous Palin piece'.

KP avoids discussion of the obvious fact that much of SP's popularity was rooted in her sex appeal. Damn, she was easy on the eyes. Best looking female politician since ....well.....??

She combined that with her sassy attitude and her folksy way of talkin. We just knew she was hot to trot onto center stage of a different sort. So she won't be in our family rooms every night.

Seems we'll be seeing enough of her to get get things started up for all involved in current plans.

I've not been one to go along with the KP is jealous that SP is also a hot babe. KP is hotter than SP and way brighter.

That said, Kathleen-----maybe you should have pulled the bit about SP "hating the mainstream media"....I believe you had a sleep deprivation induced mental twitch without time for a re-read.

You are absolved and vindicated and exonerated and all the things denied to SP

KP and her elite friends
Just read the Daily Kos support for all of KP's columns to get a flavor of the big tent Republicans. Brooks,colon Powell, Noonan, Ridge, and KP say we want your votes but just keep your ideas to youself.

Parker is closer to Obama than conservative Republican let alone a high profile woman.

Parker is a nasty witch
who has no idea what it is like to have reporters state that your grandchild is really your child! Parker is a nasty elitist who disdains working class people. Parker likes travelling with Obama a on his jet and drinking in his "wisdom" - from his teleprompter. I wish TH would drop this pseudo conservative. She is a liberal who wants acceptance from everybody. Kathleen, resign - for the sake of Townhall - and do it now.

Will
I think you should be more concerned about how the democrats lied to you. Still can't get married, eh? But they certainly have your loyalty....tsk..tsk...

How does it feel like to be a pawn in your party?

Give it up!
Just another "Daily Kos" rant from Ms. Parker.

catty and petty
and not enough writing skills to hide it.

Spamming, not trolling
The constant ad hominem attacks against Kathleen Parker are totally boring. They're not real trolling either, since everyone ignores them. It's more like spamming or a denial of service attack. A real troll who doesn't get a catch would change their attack, not post the same thing a thousand times.

Does K. Parker actually believe this??
"No one can honestly make the case that the Palins didn't take more heat than other public families. That said, it isn't difficult to avoid media attention. All one has to do is go to Alaska and stay put. But Palin, like the giddy Icarus, seems drawn to heat and light."

***Who is K Parker kidding? Saying all Sarah had to do was go to Alaska and stay put??
K.Parker is dillusional if she actually believes this!!

Have you noticed?
Just look at the States the loon's comments come from...they're all bankrupt economically and morally.

Jealousy?
Dear Kathleen,
Please tell us how it feels being a; "Jealous Douchbag?" To speculate, without any evidence or first hand knowledge of Sarah's intentions. Your, "Pseudo Intellectual" gibberish makes it apparent that you are acting out of jealousy and envy of Palin, she, unlike yourself, is a sincere, genuine, down to earth human being. Phony, snobbish elitists such as Peggy Noonan and yourself, criticize in your writings but never go out into the real world and actually do anything.

Bitter.
Ms. Parker, you should take some advice from Sarah. "You can participate in things that build you up or tear you down." Your jealousy and bitterness are almost tangible. Why don't you go find something to build you up?

Parker’s final descent into madness
I stopped by here, hoping against hope that Parker would have the decency to pen a dignified political obituary for Sarah. How foolish of me. I thought at least Parker might show herself to be a classy dame, but it turns out she’s no different from the left-wing hate blogs that pollute the public discourse.

Good for Sarah! She got into politics in the first place because she thought she could make the world a better place for her family. Thanks to jackals like Parker, it turned out that her political career was making things WORSE for her family, so, naturally, she did the right thing and got out.

What does the future hold for Sarah? Don’t know, doesn’t matter, because whatever she does, she’ll be free from the hate mongers who’ve persecuted her the past ten months. God has blessed the Palin kids, because the dregs of humanity like Andrew Sullivan and Dave Letterman are no match for their mother. On her worst day, Sarah Palin is an infinitely better human being than any of her critics.

Especially Kathleen Parker.

KP doth protest too much
Your jealousy is showing again, Kathleen. Again.

Say What??????
This article is long on emotion and short on logic. To read an article written by an adult, read John Fund's article in the WSJ today. It makes sense.

Hey folks,
Parker isn't the only one suffering from PDS. Just look at all the anti-Palin rants that appear in the "comments" sections following articles and postings on the web -- even on this site. Makes you wonder, do the Palin-haters have a life? Where do they find the time to write all those bitter comments? (Will, you seem to spend ALL of your time writing nasty things about Palin and other social cons. Are you getting paid for it?)
As for KP, I'm sure she's enjoying her career
as the liberal media's favorite conservative. She is one of the token conseratives who writes for the Washington Post's opinion page. One thing I've noticed from reading the Post regularly is that Sarah Palin has always gotten a fairer shake from the liberal Chris Cillizza than she gets from any of the paper's "conservatives".

You can tell Parker is on the ...

... right track.

All the loons are against her.

Christian Sarah
You make me sick with your hatred of Sarah...by the way, what are your feelings about Jesus Christ? Hmmm...?
I'm saying it again...what people love or hate about Sarah Palin is her Christianity. She's not ashamed of the power of the gospel which empowers her, and every believer bold enough to believe it!
Shame on Kathleen, again.
Helen Simon

Right on, Kathleen!
Thanks for telling it like it is. With Palin's credibility shot, (what little she had with a very limited portion of the population) she's doing the right thing for her- going after the money. I can picture her as a talking head on Fox, or other media and her book will make her millions.

Sorry folks, she's no different from any other politician -- right or left -- it's all about her. She'll be right at home with Coulter, Limbaugh and other gang members in kook-town.

What a hateful, petty column
"Insiders" close to Kathleen Parker confirm that she's an aging tart for whom the only thing left to straddle is The Fence.

You can tell Palin is on the

...right track.

All the loons are against her.

Palin gets clawed by women pundits
Meow! Anyone noticed how the feminine pundits seem to be the worst(Dowd, Parker, the Alaskan witch, etc.)critics of Palin?

Kitty envy?

Sara Wins...You lose..
Here's a suggestion...shut the heck up!!! Nothing exposes an insecure, sad woman (you) like a strong, intuitive one (Sara). You and Peggy make great Democrat undercover strategists.

Kathleen Parker...?
Parker suffers from the same need as Maureen Dowd...she needs to get laid. Both women see a vibrant gutsy lady out there making waves and getting cheers and then lash out after looking in the mirror and taking their own inventory.

And as for the poster here named 'will'...he needs to work at forming at least one of his own thoughts.

Kathleen Predictable...

Golly, gee Ms. Parker! Who could of imagined what you would be writing about this week?

Just KP, being KP...

One star - Only because zero or less is not an option.

I thought this was supposed to be . . .
a conservative group of writers?? What is this liberal propogandist hater doing here??

For an accurate, good, and . . .
insightful article about Governor Palin -- read instead: Liberal Nerds and an Envious Spinster
by Douglas MacKinnon.

KP, You Would Be A Great Juror

In a rape case. A defense lawyer would love to have a jury full of women like you.

Why? Because you would acquit the rapist and condemn the victim.

Challenge: Go sit in criminal court. From my years in the legal community, I can tell you that bitter witches like you are exactly what scummy defense lawyers want.

Got that? You are the dream juror in a rape case. Defense lawyers would love you.

So, how's that feminism working out for you?

BTW, your chain of events is wrong. The book deal is sooo "early this year".

Will's book
I will go to the library if I want to read a book Will. If you can't say it succinctly in the space allowed, I aint gonna read it you betcha.

Wildbill gets it
The women (elite writers). in Washington, can't get past the lipstick and heels. It is ok if THEY wear pointy shoes, but a woman politician must be butch in a pants suit or they go all desperate housewife on us.

KP is dead to me.

More KP lightweight insight
Kathleen, you are so pathetic. Your willingness to be cynical about every move and word that Palin makes or says underscores your reluctance to deliver that any of the mealymouthed mushy Republicans for whom you hold such esteem...to say nothing of the liberals in Congress who pretend to have our best interests at heart, while selling our future to gain control over our lives. Why not spend a little time exposing the Liar-in-Chief or any of his henchmen in the State Department or DOJ? I guess that would take some critical thinking.... don't stress yourself.

Whatever....
Palin's simplicity is mistaken for stupidity by many including the elite media, which I am afraid Mrs. Parker is more a part of than she thinks. Palin needs time to win over the hearts and minds of America so she can win the Presidency. She can not say she is running now because that would be bad form. Mrs. Parker is being disengenious in cynically condeming her for this. Nobody declares they are running for President six months into a new Presidents first term!!!

Kattie Parkay

It seems obvious to anyone with a brain, that when some "Hack" continually attacks a single person 10 or 15 times in articles over several months, to the exclusion of all else, that the 'clumnist' has a hatred problem.

Why do you hate this wonderful Woman ?

I am beginning to suspect that you made a disgusting proposal to her and were rejected.

Why don't you hit on Dowd ? She make accept your disgusting proposal.

Oh, and am I being generous. I gave you one check mark. I did this because negative checks are not an option.

~~~
TH, Why do you have this NON CONSERVATIVE on your site which claims to be a Conservative site ?
"The media MADE Sarah Palin"????
That one statement tells you EVERYTHING you need to know about the mindset of the Pravda press, Kathleen Parker included.
"We made you, and we can destroy you."
Guess what? Deep down, they think the same thing about Obama. "WE made him, WE promoted him, WE showcased him, and WE got him elected."
Obama knows they think that. And he is perfectly willing to let them think that. Because he knows it isn't true.
Obama and Sarah Palin are just flip sides of the same distorted mirror in which the press views themselves.
Same old Parker
Nothing new here. I'm starting to wonder whether the reason I like Palin so much is due to the abject fear she creates in people like Parker - snobbish elites who look at real people as if they came from some other planet. As Tony Blankley has noted, George W. Bush was able to produce Bush Derangement Syndrome in Leftists, and Barack Obama is creating Obama Derangement Syndrome in Rightists (is that a word?). But only Sarah Palin has shown the ability to create Derangement Syndrome in both groups. I do know one thing; I will carry a grudge against the GOP for a long time over the way they have treated Sarah.
What Gives?
I have to wonder why K Parker, a mediocrity, is so fixated on Sarah Palin. I suspect she is envious of Palin's beauty and popularity. Palin doesn't care about being invited to a Georgetown dinner party--Parker lives and dies by these invites.
Sarah Palin Obsession
I use to enjoy reading your efforts, but you seem to have some kind of negative obsession with Governor Palin. Your predictable and disappointing on this subject every time. You obviously have some kind of problem on this subject. Understand that and get over it. Resolve to address other subjects. Your current obsession is embarrasing and leads many of us to question your judgement. I will soon just hit the "delete" button on anything I see with your name attached to it because I will no longer view you as a viable sourse of intelligence. You are losing my respect based on your lack of judgement.
you have a gift
Kathleen, you should contact Michael Moore.. I hear he's always looking for someone to whip up stories with no factual backing in order to make a buck for himself. You've obviously got a lot of experience in that area.
Parker @ Dowd are Interchangeable!
Does Townhall realize that Kathleen Parker and the New York Times Maureen Dowd are interchangeable? My primary reason for not renewing my Townhall magazine subscription is due to Townhall continuing to carry her as a Conservative Columnist. Should Townhall wish to have a category for non-conservative columnists it would restore their credibility. Townhall continuing to give Kathleen Parker cover as a conservative columnist and lending her credibility with the main stream media is absurd.
Townhall
If you are not going to take this 'liberal' off Townhall, could you give us a better rating system?
One Checkmark just does not express my feelings about this article.
Re: The vermin that come here...
I previously asked a rhetorical question...
" TH, Why do you have this NON CONSERVATIVE on your site which claims to be a Conservative site ? "
~~~

I think I am able to answer my own question...

TH is doing us a favor by illustrating that there are indeed many creeps out there who hate us, and everything we stand for.

They also allow 'trolls', 'gnomes' and 'ogres' to habituate here for the same reason.

Oh, an aside here...

'trolls' live under bridges and collect welfare checks.

'gnomes' hide out in the garden while naked.

'ogres' eat humans or at least the feces covered portion.

I think that covers it, if you read between the lines.

I cannot be more specific here.

Not a fan of the writer...
Your column has nothing of interest in it. You have no idea what Ms. Palin is planning so why do you pretend to have the scoop? And, you seem to be spitting venom while doing it.
There are many women in America who admire Ms. Palin and I am happy to say I am one of them. You are approaching liberal-news-media-vermin in this column.

DivaDee
There's a lot more going on than just piling on Sarah Palin. Remember, KP was still in rather good standings with many conservatives before her meltdown over the former Alaskan Govenor. She occaisonally wrote for National Review, and her columns were published online on place like TH. KP's downfall (like that of Frumm) was her viscious reaction to Palin's nomination last year. I, like many never saw this side of her. KP enjoyed about 8 weeks in the media spotlight, but once McCain/Palin were defeated the MSM lost interest in her.

KP made her money in print journalism. But with so many newspapers either going under or dropping syndicated columnists, KP is in trouble. All she really has left is online sites like TH. But conservatives detest her, and the largest online audience for places like TH is conservatives.

The question is, what will KP now do nw that Sarah Palin has essientially retired from politics? As long as Sarah Palin was still in the news, KP had an audience. Outside of Sarah Palin, I don't know what KP every wrote about.

Like David Frum, KP enjoyed the patronage of Bill Buckley (who met her once at a writing seminar in South Carolina). Buckely's generosity made her a national figure. Her syndication (and the money it brought) can be attributed to his friendship and efforts. When he passed away, she jumped ship. KP's loyalties it appears are with her fellow J-School friends in the MSM.

KP - "conservative" (HA!) USEFUL IDIOT
Nothing more needs to be known except she stinks up the site w/ every appearance.Now where's that damn clothespin I have.

What Many People Forget
The MSM printed and actually expounded upon the bit of viscious gossip picked up from the Daily Koz, that said Trig Palin was actually the son of Sarah's daughter.

Not to be outdone, MSNBC even went as far as to pass the rumour that Sarah Palin's husband impregnated thier oldest daughter with Trig.

Not to be outdone by MSNBC, CNN pased on the rumour that Sarah Palin's husband begged her to get an abortion.

And it went on and on and on.... unsubstantiated rumours, gossip, and slander not on Sarah Palin, but her children. And it continued with Letterman this past month.

Conservative women beware. This is what you have to look forward to.

katties mental health...

Kathleen Parker's Biography
Kathleen Parker’s clear, descriptive, lively writing underscores her common-sense approach to life's challenges. Twice weekly, Kathleen Parker assesses the country’s mental health with a Rorschach uniquely her own – a reporter’s gimlet eye combined with a sense of humor that Parker attributes to having grown up with five mothers. "My ambitious goal," Kathleen Parker says, "is to try to inject a little sanity into a world gone barking mad."

~~~
Eureka ! Now I get it !
Kattie was traumatized by being raised in a dog pound, before being adopted by liberals.
Her references to mental health show she has undergone years of therapy.
Money wasted, in my opinion, as she is as nutty as they come.
Bleeding Heart
You can't have it both ways. You cannot defend the viscious libel thrown at Palin on the one hand, and then demand a coherent, rational dialogue on the other.
BTW, I'm no fan of Sarah Palin. I think she is not ready either politically, or intellectually for the job. And my opinion of her taking the VP slot while she had a Downs Syndrome infant and obvious family problems was lowered.
Kathleen Parker
is delusional.
What's going on?
I'm asking that because nobody knows; most of the pundits are saying that Sarah has essentially committed suicide here, but it seems to me that it would depend on her next move and Sarah is keeping that close to the vest. In fact, there were many people close to her that were blindsided by her resignation. Another problem here that I've caught wind of is Alaskan ethics laws that prevent her from dealing with all of this on a national level.
Yes, I know that Kathleen doesn't like Sarah -- I read this article just to see how Kathleen would articulate it and I wasn't surprised. Sarah lacks intelligence; that's the usual progressive response to a conservative they can't quite get their mind around. Reagan was also stupid; there are numerous Hollywood movies out there portraying him as an idiot that can't string a sentence together.
For those who think that Sarah has done herself in? She's a non-issue. Move on. In the end we'll all find out.
Predictability
How easy was it to predict this surprise column. Note: deserves one star for lack of option.
On the last column I predicted (like all of TH)…
Poor Kathleen, undoubtedly still stewing over her venomous rage for Sarah Palin and likely still putting the final touches on a piece to match Maureen Dowd's latest verbosity on "the Sarah".
I'm sure we will witness another flamboyant exercise in 'hating your neighbor to the north' soon enough. I almost can't wait, as half of liberaldom can't so they can propagate it as a fresh batch of hostility from inside the Republican camp, against the star power of Sarah.
...But I'll patiently wait. Don't disappoint us Kathleen.
Didn’t have to wait long.
“Let's just say, Palin is in no danger of going broke. From her book contract alone, she never has to worry about money again, according to one close insider.”
And how would you know…or how could you judge her needs, just to cover her fees? No, you want this ripe tomato to exit the stage as quickly as you and your liberal – speaking of elitists, Kathleen – can force her out. The natural politics involved is more than you can deal with. She has an attraction and that irritates the likes of you and your colleagues. You could barely identify with her on the Letterman attack. But I’m sure she is loosing sleep and money over what you and the press have to say. At least she can create excitement and some unpredictability – which you don’t have to worry about.
“The media invented Sarah Palin.”
Now there’s news. But lets “contrast” that with Obama, shall we? Useful idiot is right.
Blah Blah Blah
As usual, another boorish, predicable rant from a mindless harpie.
I'd like to buy Parker for her actual worth and sell her for what she thinks she is worth.
Why did I know that Kitty...
... could not resist her burning, urgent need to write a snarky, unpleasant kissoff to Sarah P.?
Wow - A Negative Article on Palin
At least you're consistent Cupcake. 100% negative when the subject is Palin. Do us all a favor. Go away. Stop posting to Townhall. No one cares what you have to say and its generally not worth saying anyway.
PARKER IS A FOOL WITH A NEW STCHIK
.....Write a hit piece on Palin and get many comments on your article ...it doesn't matter that 95% are negative ...
.....Parker mixes up what Tina Fey said and what Palin actually said on purpose to get in a dig in at Palin ...Palin said that from the extreme western tip of Alaska, Russia is visible and that is a true statement ...
.....Palin is the de facto head of the Conservative movement ...the mantle is hers if she wants to wear it ....
.....Nobody ever went broke underestimating the intelligence of Kathleen Parker .....COLOSSUS
ho-hum
Another vacuous piece by a closet Liberal. Sarah scares the hell out of the supposedly educated media. She is a real American with family values and actual perspective on our problems. I'm a democrat and I think BHO is 1 and done. Go Sarah in 2012, I'll work for you and support you to the best of my ability. Let's put someone in the White House that doesn't need to apologize for America.
Dear Liberals
With all due respect, your comments here speak volumes about your hipocrisy and utter lack of common sense.
The only person who knows the true motivation behind Sarah Palin's decision is Sarah Palin. Despite that obvious truism, you continue to deride her motives as if you could read her mind.
I suppose I could say, based on his actions, that Barack Obama is out to destroy our country and its values. If I do that, however, I am labeled by you folks as a "reactionary" and "hateful". Why doesn't the same hold true in your eyes vis-a-vis your statements regarding Sarah Palin's resignation?
It doesn't take a whole lot of nuanced thinking to appreciate the double-standard.
JPK
You nailed it: “You can't have it both ways. You cannot defend the viscious libel thrown at Palin on the one hand, and then demand a coherent, rational dialogue on the other.”
And Kathleen wants to have it both ways. The media created her, she says. Then Kath declares all her wounds are self-inflicted. Well. How can Parker criticize Palin when she hasn’t got her own (liberal driven) talking points down?
However the press defines Sarah is supposed to be reality. But she does not willingly fit the mold. She leaves with more executive experience than Barry has to date. Everything Parker and liberals criticize about Palin is a trademark, displayed in spades, of Barry Soetoro -- empty suit indeed. He was a media creation, invention woth the help of his friends, with no substance unless you count his Marxist bent, right from the beginning. And that didn’t stop them as even Helen Thomas had to admit “"Nixon didn't try to do that," ... "They couldn't control (the media). They didn't try. What the hell do they think we are, puppets?"
Sure they do. We all know full well they are puppets to Obama. This comment just feigns a mask of righteous arrogance about it – more over who is really in control. The press still think they are in control of Obama. In their mind, like Sarah Palin they believe they can take you out. The minute they come to reality – if ever – there may be a rude awakening.
Kathleen
Kathleen can F off.
Parker can't see past her up-turned nose
As usual.
Palin actually believes that she is a "public servant." I know the Parkers of this world scoff at such a thing or that anyone could actually view themselves as such, but there are some who do.
Parker and her ilk have no problem with Governors resigning to accept higher political office as Palin would have done had McCain won. That's what's expected. That's what politicians DO.
Parker and her ilk would have no problem with Palin holding on to her Governor's chair unti 2010, regardless of the effect on Alaska, to set herself for a Presidential run in 2012. That's what's expected. That's what politicians DO.
But to candidly ADMIT that they can't effectively do the job they were hired for because they're constantly defending against unfounded ethics complaints (16 thus far -- 15 investigated and dismissed, the other one filed after her announcement) -- and resign so that someone else could take over and actually GOVERN as the people of Alaska deserve?
That is deserving of scorn. Of contempt.
As to her other, candidly revealed, reasons, i.e., to push for the values in which she believes....
Palin didn't ask for the megaphone she holds; it was pressed into her hands and GLUED there by the MSM via the constant glare of the spotlight they shone on her in an attempt to destroy her.
So, she believes in the values she holds. She has a megaphone.
And the Parkers of this world ascribe to her base motivation.
It's called "projection."
Kathleen,
you are out of your league!
Sarah Palin has proven time and
again that she can take care of herself and her family. Those two are and should be her priorities.
Parker writes her opinions to earn a living. he deliberately stays out of any position that would require her to make a sacrifice for her beliefs, if she has beliefs and is not just an empty keyboard.
Palin enters the arena to do battle for her beliefs and values.
I respect Palin and could support her for POTUS. She knows far more about good governance than anyone currently living in DC.
As I have watched the antics in DC, I have come to realize how few knowledgeable and honorable people are serving in DC.
The "wills" of the world push their agenda of hating those activities that promote and enhance life. Instead, these "wills" serve the death-dealing activities of the same-sex sodomites, the pro-abortion groups and the organizations are determined to use the government to punish the moral and productive members of our society and to reward the lazy and destructive members of society.
Not even close!
Kathleen, this is a pitiful excuse for a column. I assume that PMS is not a factor? In fact, I'm sure it's not...
There's plenty of fodder in Congress and the White House for you to focus your invective on; go for it!
The left is scared to death of Palin.
The elitist type Republicans find her distasteful.
Both groups fear what Palin wants to do for this country.
She stands for the five self-evident truths upon which this country is founded.
She supports and protects the lives of ALL human beings.
She supports and protects the sanctity of marriage.
She supports and protects the freedoms of Americans against the infringement of those freedoms by the federal government.
She supports the lowering of taxes and the size of government.
The death dealers and the communists attack Palin because they see in her the biggest threat to their agenda of death and destruction.
Better perspective
Here is a better perspective than Kathleen attempts to weave.
“I Still Hate You, Sarah Palin”
Ms. Parker
You are truly a fool. Find another line of work. Your columns are embarassing and shameful.
Denial is a river in Egypt?
Denial is a river in Egypt?
Excellent Article!
I just read it in the Houston Chronicle and skimmed it again here.
Anti-fans
You must have a couple hundred who dedicate themselves to criticizing you articles. I wonder how representative of the country as a whole they are? I would think not very.
Hating Sarah Needs no Reason
Kathleen,
An unsound mind cannot be reasoned with. You have become unhinged.
You will probably be on board for a second round of the stimulus enema.
Jealousy is evil, but Envy is a deadly sin.
The only kind of person we can elect to clean up this mess we're in is someone that has had to shovel the fish guts for people like you(who have no experience cleaning up the damage you do to others), another disrespectful, sadistic, Letterman in a Schadenfreude dress.
James Davidson
Oh, no! Even Fox News slams Palin!
Is there no decency left??
Conservative Fox News contributor Liz Trotta calls Palin "inarticulate, undereducated" -- "What would William F. Buckley have thought or her as the standard-bearer for the conservative party?"
Gee Will
I guess Foxnews isn't as biased as all you dopey liberals claim then huh?
Cheers!
The utter hypocrisy of the left
And Kathleen Parker fits in so nicely.
A League of Her Own Indeed ...
and that's what pisses off the entire establishment (MSM, Republican party and Democrat party, and every fringe group like feminists and homos). God forbid a person elected to represent her constituents actually represent rather than play ball ...
Perhaps she's considering a run for the Senate in 2010 as the next logical step to the White House where she could brush up on what needs brushing up. Obama did (although he did nothing while there)
Perhaps Americans will back her in a third party bid in 2012 since most R's and D's don't represent us anyway. Perot did a pretty good job firing up Americans if I recall
The Republican party's as good as dead anyway and the Socialist party needs to be killed. Perhaps she's the new way
Sarah Palin's Resignation
The only question is, "Why did she wait so long?" Has anyone ever been savaged so frequently and consistently as Sarah Palin by the agglomeration of assininity composed of East Coast mainstream media and "entertainers?" If someone had insulted Chelsea Clinton the way that Governor Palin's fourteen-year-old daughter was, after attending a baseball game, the East Coast establishment would have imploded. I only pray for the involvement of more people in politics that have the character of Sarah Palin.
Andy Ganzevoort
Typical Kathleen Parker
Not surprising drivel here. Parker has built up her own reputation as a Republican Palin hater, continuing to win friends inside the Beltway.
I would really like Parker to define "intellectually curious" for us. Would an intellectually curious person read your column, Kathleen?
And then once you've defined it, Kathleen, why don't you tell us which leaders were intellectually curious?
Jimmy Carter is rumored to have been one of the smartest presidents we've ever had, and of course, he ushered in a Golden Era of peace and prosperity (oops that was Ronald Reagan, the dolt president.)
Bill Clinton was also considered "intellectualy curious" I suppose, but he was also curious in other ways that even someone as broad-minded as you Kathleen, would have to admit, tarnished his reputation, just a bit.
You want an egghead president, Kathleen. Well you've got one now. The affirmative action academic is now showering us with the blessings of his intellectual curiosity.
How's that working out? Why don't we check back in about three years, huh?
Meanwhile, Palin saved the state of Alaska some money. Can't we conservatives at least agree on that?
When you want to be on CNN...
Parker got national attention last fall by attacking Sarah Palin. Jack Cafferty bloviated about how even important right-wing columnists were now seeing her flaws. Meanwhile, conservatives were going "Kathleen Parker, which one is that again?"
Now Parker is trying to perfect her schtick. Maybe she wants the chair next to David Gergen.
Seek Professional Medical Help
Looks like Parker is off her meds again and is doing her long winded diatribes. Instead of talking about Palin, how about discussing the next porkulus bill that your Messiah wants to slip under the American sheep and which will accomplish nothing but place the country further in debt, or about socialized medicine, or how the housing bubble caused by Obama and other socialists created this economic depression. Oh, I forgot that would require actual intelligence rather than just gossip and a severe case of PMS. And for the idiot trolls on this website, get a freakin life! Why are you even here on a supposedly conservative site if you're undeniably a flaming liberal POS? Do you think anyone here gives a flying F what you think? And another thing why the hell is Parker still labeled as a conservative columnist when she's just an empty headed old hag with a master's degree in Spanish. Oooh, I'm so effing impressed! So she can speak fluently to the gardener and the pool boy. Yeah, that qualifies her to be a columnist. /sarc
The annointing of spokescritters
Kathleen Parker got to be a recognized spokeswoman for the conservative movement the way Jesse Jackson got to be a spokesman for blacks. She was appointed to the position by the rich white men in New York who run national media. Her main qualification seems to be that she says things that those men want to think. Why else did we start hearing of her when we did?
77% and 44%
Last poll on Palin was 77% favorable amongst the Republican base with Independants giving her a 44%. Not bad when you are fighting a war on multiple fronts. Stay with it Kathleen, hopefully, Palin will keep rising in the polls as those of your ilk continue trashing a descent honest woman.
yawn
Parker is stereotypical of the schooled but uneducated “journalist” who, lacking the background to think critically, is forced to rely upon her own biases.
Another poster pointed out that a more informative and thoughtful piece about Palin’s motivations appears in today’s Wall Street Journal under John Fund’s byline—if anybody wants to give up the food fight long enough to read it.
meeoooww
Look out, Parker has her claws out. She's got her green on. She can't compete. "Why," Kathleen wants to know, "did SARAH get the book deal, when everyone KNOWS, it should have come to her?"
Ms. Parker is mistaken
Ms. Parker was snotty about Ms. Palin's text, but Ms. Parker is mistaken. Here is the quote, and Parker's comment on it:
"Palin blamed 'a full-court press from the national level picking away right now' and said she 'knows exactly when to pass the ball so that the team can win. And that is what I'm doing -- keeping our eye on the ball that represents sound priorities. Remember, they include energy independence and smaller government and national security and freedom. And I know when it's time to pass the ball for victory.'
"Fortunately, Palin has hired a writer to help with her tell-all."
Palin's text has rhythm. She repeats key phrases with (spoken) emphasis, notably "ball." She follows the military method -- she tells you what she's going to say, she says it, then she tells you what she said. And her inserted clause -- "Remember, they include . . ." -- repeats her hot button issues on which her audience is with her.
When Palin publishes her book, Parker, it will outsell your books. And it won't be unfair. It'll be because she's a better writer.
Palin lust
This is a pathetic, condescending article. You write that neither Palin nor George W are intellectually curious...oh, how smug you are. If you were a man, I'd say you suffer greatly from pen*s envy--as it is, you're simply a "go with the flow" mediocre writer hack. And, yes, only dead fish go with the flow!
Parker / Andrea Mitchell-MSNBC
I got a chance to watch Palin being interviewed by Mitchell. And surprise Parker was on the show to get her thoughts. Mitchell made sure to plug that Parker was an original supporter of Palin.(So untrue there.)
Ms. Parker I notice a change in you not by your actions (jealousy, catty, no clue about real working women) but your face. Ms. Parker did you have some work done? I saw you on tv back last Fall and your face was different.
Well you were not ready to be on tv. You seem rather out of your league, rather uncomfortable and well out of sync. You shifted a little bit and you were transparent.
The difference between you and Palin is very evident. Here it goes, Palin has a work ethic and can roll up her sleeves. She is one of us. A builder to the foundation of America. She is the modern "We can do it" woman. A lady.
You represent "if I wait more than 2 minutes in line at a retail store then it ruins my day"
kinda broad not a lady.
If there was another 9/11, Palin would be one of hundreds of volunteers helping out the victims and their families. You would not get your feet or hands dirty or shed a tear because it would ruin your face or outfit. Ms. Parker YOU are the biggest threat to the Republican party because YOU look down to those who actually have to work for a living. YOU are the reason why people are reluctant to join the Republican party.
Thank God for Michael Steele, Mike Hickabee and Sarah Palin because they are real and working class. They pulled themselves from their boot straps. You are more concern about breaking a nail.
If this post is harsh, then you need to deal with it. If you can't tough it out.....
ms parker...
the east coast media made sarah palin much like she is making you. Without her, you writing has even less interest for most on this site. I believe it was John McCain (or one of his cabal) that thrust SP into the limelight. Frankly she would probably be better off without the MSM notoriety.
If you and other liberals in the MSM find her so ill-qualified or repugnant, why can't you pass up the chance to write about her? You are like moths and a candle. I'll bet your mom used to tell you that if you couldn't say something nice about somebody, just don't say anything at all. Well, I realize that doesn't apply to opinion writers, but I'd rather hear you blabber on about the merits of good republican women like Olympia Snowe.
Gutless Guttersnipe
KP, why don't you have the courage to say something about Michelle Obama as long as you're piling on Sarah and her family? Isn't MO a complete disgrace in the tight spandex pants emphasizing her generous booty and pudenda? Isn't her gauche taste in clothing a scandal to the fashionable set you hang with?
You would be apoplectic if Sarah wore outfits like Michelle!!! How about if she hid her academic history, passport and birth certificate and hung around with sleazy felons like Obama?
You don't have the courage to comment on the glaring truth-that-must-not-be-spoken, because it would be "racist". Only "rednecks" are fair game. Sickening.
I hate to do this
I hate to dignify Ms. Parker's inexplicable, dim-witted sneering at Sarah Palin wih a response but... here goes nothing.
You simply don't get it. That much is obvious. It's not that "Alaskans lately have turned against [her]" as you inaccurately state. She is still as popular as ever in Alaska. Her political enemies are using a tool designed to combat corruption to corrupt the tool itself. And as far as using her PAC money for legal fees, let's leave that for the Clintons, shall we?
I am sure you will keep the vitriol and venom warm for the 2012 nomination. Just so "moderate" dunderheads like you can nominate another "intellectually curious" (read finger to the wind opportunist moderate like McCain) and lose another bid for the White House.
Oh, and I love this part of your drivel... "That said, it isn't difficult to avoid media attention. All one has to do is go to Alaska and stay put." Sounds kind of like "If she didn't dress like a sl*t, she wouldn't have been raped" doesn't it? So now the standard for a mother is that you stay home or we make jokes about your children?
I hadn't read your articles before this one. It seems I hadn't missed much.
Predictable.. Kathleen Parker's columns
fall into two categories.
A....Sarah Palin's hairstyle is outdated....
or
B....I had a nice plane ride with the new President.
Palin was very clear
Parker is either jealous of Palin or another elitest who for all their supposed smarts....just can't seem to think out of the box. Sarah doesn't need to follow the path politicians follow. Followers do that....not leaders which is what she is...
Cut and Run
Ol' "Cut and Run" Palin, quitting again...it's a recurring pattern. Girlfriend dishes it out all nasty and sneering, but she can't take it. What a wimp. The men and women out fighting in Iraq and Afghanistan don't have the luxury of quitting when the going gets tough, this weirdo has quit everything she's ever taken up. Except for the Mayor gig, the kick-backs were too lucrative apparently. She's gonna pull a murder-suicide with Todd when the Embezzlement rap hits.
Kathleen Parker
Townhall Editors - please remove Ms. Parker from your columnists as she is clearly not only NOT conservative, but detrimental to conservatism. Her mindless attacks have gotten extremely annoying.
Where Does Parker's Bile Come From?
What in the world are you talking about woman? The media did not create Palin. Her wonderful speech accepting the VP slot made her a national figure, not east coast elites. Forgive the analogy but Sarah Palin was raped by the main stream media and you blame the victim. I guess she should have stayed in Alaska rather than go to a baseball game with her daughter. Your reasoning is disgusting and makes me wonder where all the bile towards her comes from.
By the way, I'd rather have her making money outside of politics than becoming a political pariah who exists politics way richer than she entered it. Why don't you stop attacking real people and go after the real probem?
WHY on Townhall?
WHY? WHY is this columist carried on Townhall? I have read her column often, and she certainly is no conservitive. Her opinions are more than well represented on NBC, CBS, ABC, CNN, NY Times, or any of the rest of the liberal media.
Kathleen, Bitter to the Last
Like a moth drawn to a flame, Parker's predictable and just as mindless.
Dismantling Elitism
Kathleen, proceed to the head of the elitist class. You haven't the slightest clue what you are talking about. Try "Dismantling Elitism" at http://www.brushfires-of-freedom.com/elitism.html
How can anyone reach your age without knowing what a real person is like?
Palin's Supporters
Thank you, Kathleen Parker for such an intelligently written post. The attacks on you, unfortunately, only show up the intellectual void in Palin's base.
"Kathleen Had 4 Mommies"
Perhaps, had the Palins raised her, she would not have grown up to be a shiveled-up, old, shrew.
As I wrote earlier, Parket would make a great juror in a rape trial. She would acquit the Defendant and condemn the Victim.
She is not a Conservative nor a Constitutionalist. If not a Democrat, she is a Colin Powell Republican.
Nice feminism, KP.
Just go away!
K Parker - Why are you still here? Why are you still pretending to be some sort of conservative? If there was any justice in this world you would be fired from all of your positions.
How's that 0bamanation 'Hope & Change' thing working out, BTW?
Jealousy Rules The Day
These alleged female journalists are so stinking, blind-eyed jealous of Sarah Palin, they lose sleep at night. It's really quite funny to watch.
As for the Republican party itself, I'm a lifelong member, but I got to tell you, I'm getting real tired of the Ivy league jerkoffs in the party trying to tell me what I should think, it's kind of like the Ivy League jerkoffs in the Democratic party who also think they know what's best for us common folk that went to community college.
I'll vote for a person with real life experience before I'd vote for some pampered jerkwad who roamed the halls of Columbia listening to the pathetic rantings of the unemployable (in the outside world) professors with tenure who still think it's 1965 and are reliving those dope smoking, free love days of old. I can't wait until all those professors who came of age during the 1960's die off, so we can get back to the job of actually educating our children.
Honey, I have two degrees from Harvard (Finance & Economics), a Juris Doctorate from Georgetown, and a Masters in Economics from the London School of Economics.
I am neither a Conservative nor a Republican. I AM a fiscally-conservative, Constitutionalist, without party affiliation.
I detest catty behavior.
will
I see where Will, the blogger voted most likely to contract proctitis, is in fine form today. Leave it to a total zealot to go on a protracted rant on a conservative website and accuse the residents of tresspassing. Then again, there may be a shred of rational thought to his disjointed posts... maybe Kathleen IS the man. That would go a long way toward explaining his fondness for this daft columnist.
Kathleen had to read....
....Maureen Dowd's column first so she would know how to write hers.
Kathleen is "one nutty puppy."
Weak column--
This column by KP was weak at best.
Yes, Sarah is not perfect but she is a woman who could survive in critical conditions, politically and environmentally because she is like the frontier women of yesteryear.
For those who see who is in office now as POTUS, enjoy the future of taxes, illegals, out of control spending, bailouts, and appologies to whiners.
Yes, we voted for Sarah. What we would really like to see running this USA is someone like Sheriff Joe Arpaio, Judge Andrew Napolitano, Sarah, and Duncan Hunter. Conservatives, "you betcha". Lou Dobbs also come to mind, and Dr. Sowell as head of the economy.
Palin
Keep telling the truth, Kathleen. The possibility of Sarah leading this country in any way is frightening. She could not even pass a 9th grade Civics test. Sarah, -- the V.P. does not make laws and there is no Department of Laws. Please go read a book before you write one.
I Just Saw The Evidence
Hal was the guard at the Department of Homeland Security, who allowed a baby, TD2008, to go through the x-ray machine. TD's Mommy, Will, was searching her purse for a cellphone. They were going to see Janet Napolitano to beg that Mario not be deported. Could he be the Daddy for what the 10th time?
And, of course, PlanoBlue is blue.
KP is writing the article.
Red, MI
Listen up! The FBI has said that it is not investigating Sarah Palin, for embezzlement or anything else.
All 15 ethics complaints filed against Palin have been dismissed, as being frivolous.
Are you Trig's Mommy?
Sad
There were two columns in this one.
One was halfway good, the other one was awful on a grand scale. It was ambitiously awful, as if there was an attempt to write as poorly as possible.
Ambition, Kat? And you have none, yourself? I do agree that Palin can turn this into a bonus for Republicans - (no one raised money like Dubya, and he's not on the circuit these days.) You are also right that she has faced unwarranted attacks - but the most unwarranted of those were from the craven Senator's staff. (Apparently, McCain can stand up to Vietnamese communists, but he can't stand up to a couple of b!tchy whiners on his staff.)
I guess it's fair to say that the writer of this piece got her plane ticket on Airfarce One by savagely attacking Governor Palin. This one will only guarantee a one-way ticket, since it isn't a complete meat-grinder.
You can write better, Kathleen.
Enough to Make You Cry
Dear Kathleen:
I sympathize with you. You're a smart, common sense conservative surrounded by a world of emotionally thwarted and highly angry Republicans, who fail miraculously at analyzing or even considering viewpoints other than their own.
The reason I am a life-long Independent is because both major parties are infested with such intellectual and emotional troglodytes. Reading the responses above makes you realize your chosen party is a sick as it's ever been, devoid of reason or civility. Enough to make a grown conservative cry. (Of course, that wouldn’t include Sarah “I’ve Gone Fishing” Palin!)
Hang in there!
Dante
Nancy in Ga
Your comment made me understand something about Parker that's been attributed to Obamessiah and his minions: they don't get rural people smalltown people and people with traditional values - and they disrespect us.
Parker used to defend smalltown values, believe it or not, long, long ago. But now she's become part of the elite, and like most, sneers at those of us who she used to identify with. Happens in Hollywood all the time, and Washington, D.C. Now it's happening to Kathleen Parker.
It's been said that you can take a better measurement of someone by how they behave when they're successful than when they're failing.
Frankly, if I had to have dinner with Kathleen or Sarah, I would prefer to have the company of the one who still has respect for honor and virtue. (Sorry, Kat. You'll have to eat lunch all by yourself.)
Thanks for the reminder and the enlightenment, Nancy. Easy to see, once you've seen it.
Cheap Shots from a Disillusioned Woman
Parker...I hope you consider yourself part of that "benighted East Coast media". What is perhaps most laughable is your totally unsubstantiated "assessment" that Gov Palin was invented by the media. The indisputable fact is that the media assaulted everything about Gov Palin and her family in typical "Deceive, Distort, Manipulate, and Character Assassinate" fashion, which says everything about you. The other fact is that Gov Palin made HERSELF, staying true to HER principles (whether anyone likes those principles or not) and willing to assume a mantle of leadership as a "regular citizen" who simply decided to serve her state.
You need to resolve whatever deep-seeded issues cause you to so negatively obsess over Gov Palin.
As for "dante", how typical for a poser like you to label everyone here as being closed to consideration of opposing viewpoints. You probably sport a "Dissent IS Patriotic" sticker next to your "Coexist" sticker, but you don't really believe in either.
Dante
KP is not a Conservative. If she is a Republican, it is of the Colin Powell variety.
I am neither a Conservative not a Republican.
I can tell you from my years of being in the legal community, Kathleen Parker is a dream juror for the Defense in a rape trial.
She would acquit the Defendant and condemn the victor.
Why is it that feminists can only stand up for some women?
They certainly did not do it with Juanita Broderick, Paula Jones, Monica Lewinsky, and the rest of Bill's harem.
I am a highly-educated, professional woman and it totally disgusts me how feminists can come down so hard on other women.
Parker, The Snob.
The eastern 'Big City' elites do not like a smalltown girl. She is against all the things they are for. She does not fit their mold.
I do hope Gov.Palin will give back in spades what they have given her. I hope she 'takes no prisoners'. I hope you,Kathleen will be on the receiving end,also.
Parker's Family
I would like to see how long Kathleen Parker could tolerate it, if she (and her family) was subjected to the same kinds of things the Palins have had to deal with.
Parker used to be sensitive to such things, and would have stood by Palin. She would have listed the insults, and hurled fire at the cretins. Now it's Parker that is casting stones - (she was one of the first to throw 'em) - and she's still throwing.
Let's start commenting about YOUR family, your sons and husband, Kathleen. See how much YOU like it!
Perhaps it's time to start analyzing the First Lady, without the kid gloves, and her kids, exactly the same way Davie Letterman examined Palin's daughters? Let's see how far that goes, shall we? The only reason we won't do that is because we aren't like the trolls on this page, and the Huff-Po and Davie Letterman. We're better than they are, straight and true.
By the way, Rodriguez oughta sue Davie, because Letterman was insinuating something far different, far worse than his alleged fling with an old couger named Madonna: he was made out to be a pervert.
I hear they're conducting services for one of those.
Pathology
The Palin Derangement Syndrome, for Parker, began with the first rocks she threw at Palin. It goes like this:
"We feel obligated to hate those we've wronged."
It's too late for Parker to turn back - it was too late after her first column, throwing bricks at Palin. Parker's not big enough to admit it when she's wrong, nor to aplogize to those she's wronged.
Everything Parker lists
About Sarah is in spades for the unknown, unproven amateur Obama.
I mean everything, yet this "republican" Parker has not wrote a single article of criticism about the phony little man.
No one outside Chicago or Illinois knew who this guy was three years ago.
He has never managed anything in his life let alone a small city like Wasilla Alaska.
The twit Parker is guilty of everything she accuses Sarah of, and has dug herself a hole she feels comfortable in, being a snake
Poor KP
Now now, don't scream vile obscenities at KP just because you disagree with her. I think she is right when she says Palin was just not ready. If she was elected she might have given the Queen of England an IPod with all her speeches on it. Or she might have bowed to the Crown Prince of Saudi Arabia (but then claim she was much taller than him and was just reaching down to shake his hand). She might have been instrumental in instituting economic policies that would have sent the unemployment rate rocketing toward ten percent in the first six months or make stupid inane statements that she didn't want to meddle in Iran for the cause of free elections. Can you imagine what a laughing stock we would become in the eyes of the world? Yep KP, I sure am happy that a truly sophisticated,educated worldly man is now our leader so we just do not have problems like we might have had with Palin
Sarah Palin
Given her conservative leanings, Ms. Parker's repeated attacks on Palin come across as some type of personal grudge, not rational. Palin's chances of being president are remote. She will have to work hard to redeem herself, but she's obviously capable if she chooses to do so. As is, Palin is far more electable than people like Romney, Gingrich, Huckabee, and probably Barbour. From one of Mika's "real people," that is, a non-religious Chicagoan with 19 years of education.
Repulsive, jealous wretch
I hope your family gets savaged and then goes broke and you find that no one cares a whit about your situation or even existence. You are all that is vile in the media - and it's all because of your school-girl jealousy over someone who is much prettier and accomplished that you will ever be. It seems you have never matured. Now go play in the traffic and make a lot of people real happy.
Well whatever
I guess Kathleen's next few columns are going to be all about the hate mail she receives from this one.
sigh,
I had to check the web address twice
From the flavor of Parker's article I thought I was on the Daily KOS.
St. Denis In Obama's Red America
Definitions always help bridge misunderstanding, St Dennis. So, if you and others think KP is not a conservative or is so in name only, well then define yourselves as conservative squared, just like extreme liberals. True conservatism the way I like it as an true Independent, decry the hypcrisy of the social conservatives and the idiocy of the Rush Limbaugh types.
We kind of like the middle of the road conservatism where smaller, but only more effective government matters, where the civil libertarian approach guides all social concerns and where Real America is not solely defined by rural, white, Evangelical blue collar voters who just love Mrs. Palin. We think there actually is not "real Americans", only a subset of citizens who care enough to vote who label themselves one way or another. The rest are either uninformed or simply too cynical to vote.
Fortunately for my POV, the majority are voting center left and center right, kind of where you'd expect to see someone like Kathleen Parker.
Sadly for all the GOP, they can't have their cake and eat it too. Well, at least not for the next eight years.
Impressive
The self proclaimed intellects, such as the author of this article, seem to be highly indignant of peole like Sarah Palin.
Since this author is apparently a rare and unique intellectual talent, shouldn't she share some of her ideas for fixing the economy? Since her intellectual friends in the banking industry played a key role in getting us into this disaster, I'm sure she can get things turned around promptly.
Truely Pitiful Behavior
Both the author ans quite a few of the posters have shown they have the intellect and moral compass of children. The author has piled on with the rest of the MSM and attacked Palin for no other reason then the same desire for attention and money that she claims is the reasoning behind Palin's moves. The hypocrisy couldn't get any thicker with Parker, a professional writer, saying that Palin writing a book is somehow morally wrong. And that making money for writing that book is again some how wrong. That is truly hypocritical and disingenuous of Parker.
And the Palin haters sound like grade school kids on the play ground with name calling instead of reasoned argument being their choice of tactic. And all of you who want to sit their and praise Parker as some kind of hero for piling on along with the MSM , attacking her kids and husband, her religion and political beliefs, with hate filled words and actions, you ought to be ashamed of yourselves. You ARE the problem. Your actions, name calling and hate filled diatribes are just an extension of the behavior of like minded politicians and media members who have become nothing but self serving ego maniacs only interested in maintaining their status and not in doing what's right for the people of this country.
Parker should be paying Palin some sort of fee
because without her Parker would be relegated
even deeper into obscurity than she already is. I hope you all grow up soon and instead of always crying and complaining and hating you actually do something to improve your/our lot in life or one day in the future you are going to turn around and realize all that's been lost/stolen from you while you were whining about nothing and not paying attention.
hey Kathleen...
(female canine) much? LOL...and I mean I lol'd. I heard two cats fighting last night, well, I thought they were two cats. I think one of them was Ms. Parker.
KP on the Left
I've been tracking KP's lurch to the Left and I'm here to tell you that's she's finally reached her goal. This is a nice Left slam at Palin, and while I agree with KP's take--follow the money--you can't be a real conservative and diss Palin. If you are a real conservative, Palin speaks for you, to you, and about you. She's what you want in the White House, and, with any luck, you'll all have a chance to put her there in 2012. Right now she's the one and only hope for conservatives to get control of the White House.
Palin will stay in the public eye between now and 2012. She'll get a TV show, write some books, say a lot of outrageous stuff to keep conservatives feeling empowered, get some serious right-wing money flowing her way, and be ready, in 2012, to blow away any and all other conservative contenders.
That's my guess for the future. KP is too pessimistic--she doesn't see the divine madness that is Sarah Palin
Gestell
By the way, in case you didn't see it, here's what MyOpine had to say about you on David Limbaugh's last thread (post #276):
"I have been coming to TH since Sept. 2006.
I still use my original handel.
Gestell is the only Leftist I have seen here to date that has personal honor."
I told him that I agreed with him about you (I've actually tendered you praise for your reasonableness on this site as well on multiple occasions in my posts), only that I didn't think I'd quite so far as him as to say that you're the ONLY leftist I've seen on this site that has personal honor.
I only partially agree with you that Sarah Palin right now may the "one and only hope for conservatives to get control of the White House" - in that she may be the one and only hope in this regard among conservatives who are CURRENTLY ON THE NATIONAL RADAR SCREEN, but I don't agree that she's the ONLY conservative hope for the White House period.
In fact, I think that any prominent conservatives right now who are privately thinking of making a White House run in 2012 would do well to stay BELOW the radar screen for the time being. Why should they give the leftstream press an opportunity to blow them out of the water now? An AWFUL lot can happen between now and 2012. I think speculating about who the GOP should run that year is WAY premature.
If Barack Obama proves by the time he's ready to run for re-election to have been the disaster many of us conservatives believe he will have proven to be by then, then the country will be ready for a conservative in the White House, and he/she will be able to win. So why should potential nominees let the press shoot them down now and thus be able to deflect attention away from Obama's implosion as president?
FIVE STARS
Great article Ms. Parker!!!
The Lies of Will 1,2,3,4
I had to chuckle reading your little "lie" report. Its so cute. Obviously you did a lot of work on it, too bad you were given ignorant information. The hatred you have for Palin, and women in general, I think, is just sad, little man. Anyone can say someone lied, it doesn't make it so.
Everything you said has been debunked with real facts, from real sources, but I guess you didn't get the memo.thats old news, brother. Move on to Huffington Post, they will appreciate your sparkling personality.
I bet you put a couple of hours into that too, didn't you? I have to say by reading your "report" that you are clueless and not very bright.
Frankly, I am tired of subset Americans; i.e., special interest groups.
"A divided house cannot stand" - Abraham Lincoln.
Great article
Parker offers a decent assessment of the rise and fall of Sarah Palin. Palin wants people to believe she's a victim of a liberal press; so did Dan Quayle. Here's a hint to the both of them: don't give the press, liberal or conservative, SO MUCH AMMUNITION!
Follow the money?
Kathleen,
I realize it's asking a lot of you to do real investigative journalism. It's far easier for you to put down on paper all of your emotions rather than find some facts. But if you want to follow money, why don't you fly to Chicago (oh, that's right, you did that once with your boyfriend Barack) and start looking into the connections between Obama and Rezcko? Or how about Obama and Soros?
No? Too hard for you? OK, then just go into another jealous rant about an unconventional politician.
You've sung in one note since September. And you sing off-key.
You can't escape trash or jealousy
KT
What else is there to say about this rant?
Can you sleep at night with all that envy and hate in you?
When will you get over Sara???
It's really hard to figure why you would spend so much of your all knowing, self rightous,and visceral attacks on a "real American women", we all know you and your insider panty liner elitest's, are jealous, but get a life.
Katy baby...
Whay exactly keeps you going personally? I'm sorry to read such negativity...trying to make a buck...create something...stir the pot? You seem a "contradiction in terms" according to you, your logic we should consider: "intellectually curious"...like Jimmy Carter {hey that's good}...perhaps we could "hear critism" and go hide {that'll do the trick}...and finally "follow the money" {quite original thinking}...like Obama. I'm sorry Ms Parker, your so-called common sense approach isn't!! Is there a taste a liberal jealousy, envious want-to-be being displayed here? Ahhh, keeping writing, you'll get it someday!! Maybe!
role model...
Compare and contrast Kathleen Parker and Ann Coulter. The difference is night and day. Who says TH isn't fair and balanced?
Ms. Parker's motivations
In her bio, she says that she had five mothers. Though I'm not sure how that can happen, it is clear as day that this beltway bigot has a vendetta against Sarah Palin out of resentment and jealousy. I might have a little sympathy for her petty jealous is pretty pathetic, but I too grew up with a less then ideal family. However, instead of taking the cowards way out and try and tear down people that work their rear ends off to protect and nurture their family, I look at Sarah Palin as a source of inspiration - I want my family to be very similar to hers, and she proves without a doubt it can be done.
D
That is the funniest thing I have read in a while. Quite a ways down, D wrote, "I'd like to buy KP for what she is actually worth and sell her for what she thinks she is worth"
I've GOT to use that one.
Say what?
Kathleen,
I'm not sure what you're trying to say. Palin's quitting her job to raise money? Palin's a hypocrite? All I get out of your snide piece is that you really, really don't approve of Governor Palin. Not sure why, except that she's done a great job as governor of Alaska, and lives and breathes conservative values. If you did, you'd probably appreciate her more. Your disapproval of Governor Palin redounds far more to your discredit that hers. Nice people don't spill as much bile on the page as you did. Maybe you should take a sabbatical and work on yourself a little.
Meow
Kathleen, honey, your claws are showing.
We get it...
Ok, we get it. You are petty, whiny, don't like Sarah Palin and you can write.
Just tell us when you will go away...
A League of Her Own
Predictably, Kathleen, you now can't stand the fact that Sarah Palin is going to make a buck. My God, you act like she's the first politician to benefit financially following public service. By the way, who the hell are you to judge her altruism or lack thereof? What's wrong with her raising enough of her own money to pay her legal bills than looting her PAC which is intended for something else? Of course, you're real problem, Kathleen, is you've made a name for yourself these past months by trashing Sarah Palin and you fear she may not be your gravy train anymore. Omigosh, poor Kathleen might not get as many TV interviews to bash Sarah if she quits as governor! Kathleen, I would have so much more respect for you if you could just admit you turned on Sarah Palin so you wouldn't have to be embarrassed at your elitist cocktail parties or in your snobby Episcopal church.
Catty, Kathleen, catty...
you should stop writing about anything and everything Sarah Palin does because you cannot stop yourself from sounding whiny and peevish. Stick to other topics or find a different venue...you sound like a vindictive person when you write about Sarah Palin.
Just another Palin basher
Yep, it's easy to see from your snide asides that you're echoing the talking points of the MSM and the lefty loonies that have attacked Mrs. Palin like rabid sled dogs.
Palin is a fighter, and to win, you must fight with whatever means necessary until you are victorious. Yes, it's hard to predict anyone's motives, but based on what we have seen so far of this Wonder-Woman, it's easy to deduce her intentions: Continue the fight; shed the burden of governorship so her state will not be harmed in the ensuing battle, take a weapon out of the hands of her enemies so they can't criticize her for shirking her governor's duties while campaigning, and making a ton of money at the same time. All this to ensure that the real people of this country succeed in overthrowing the anti-American Marxist tyrants currently in power who seek to put an end all we hold dear.
God Bless Sarah Palin!
Jake
Sara Palin
Don't worry, Peggy Noonan's "Farewell to harms" was published today. She will be getting the rest of your Palin hatemail.***********I am not a Palin fan and said so in piece called "Politics of personality". I do need to say something in her defense. There are equally inarticulate and marginally informed politicians in Washington like Nancy Pelosi who are held to a much lower performance standard than Palin. Embarrassing Palin is a bit of a trophy for the press. Exposing Pelosi is considered ill-mannered. Palin was out of her weight class but she generally conducted herself with grace.
"Do Over"
The MInute I heard her explain she was leaving the Governorship I knew exactly what she was gong to do. FIGHT FOR US! She knows the danger we are in, evidently far better than anyone inside the beltway. Had she won the Vice Presidency we would be gaining jobs, drilling for oil and the Most natural gas available any place in the world...right here in the United States! And re-read what Jake from California wrote, he hit the nail on the head! I wish Superman could spin the Earth backwards and allow all the information we know know to go with us. We'd have a land slide vote for McCain/Palin in a Super sized, "Do-Over"!
Ironic league of Parker.
It's funny the irony in this title probably escapes Kathleen. She is in a league of her own. A liberal league in fact -- labeling her a Republican or conservative columnist is only a distraction.
The Parker Problem
Why is she still here?
A League of Her Own.
Ms. Parker -
In your early career, when your columns began to appear in my local paper, The Savannah Morning News, I looked forward to the next article with your opinions. You seemed to be honest and truthful, writing well with common sense and dedicated to conservative causes. I even complained to the paper when they didn't carry your writings anymore. Over the many years since I first voted for Harry Truman, and closely following the political scene, more intenstively with the passing of time, I witnessed many honest and sincere candidates, dedicated to changing Washington after being elected. Instead, most of them were changed by Washington. In many of your latter articles, such as this one, you remind me of them. You seem to have become so cynical, the fact that many folks, including Sara Palin, could be telling the truth, totally eludes you.. I don't know how her intentions will unfold but to me she is believable at this point. I do believe that, in your earlier comments on a similar situation, you, also, would not have been so cynical, especially with the leftist attempts to destroy her and family.
Best Regards,
CMT
A League of Her Own
Miss Parker,
Run for Governor of your home state, win, serve for a couple of years and run for a national position. Then you can critisize Palin. Until then, keep you cattiness to your self.
