Will the Dems' health care Christmas Present to America be an improvement or detriment to our health care system?

Summing up, let me just say that I reject, repudiate, renounce, denounce, dismiss and utterly regret 2008.

Sayonara and good riddance.

Which is not intended to convey offense toward anyone of Japanese descent, nor to serve as commentary on any but the preceding 12 months of the Gregorian calendar. Not that other calendars, including the Goddess Lunar Calendar, aren't perfectly good.

In fact, I categorically denounce any person or statement (or calendar) that disparages or causes distress to any living creature on this great planet or that serves to divide us from any other planet in this universe -- or any other -- and such creatures as, therein, may reside.

That being said, it is still nevertheless true that Barack Obama's middle name is Hussein.

I mention this not to cause trouble, because I categorically renounce trouble, but to cite one of the many odd utterings that defined 2008 as The Year of Denouncing and Repudiating.

Dare I say: 2008 was a veritable orgy of repudiation.

Despite our professed respect for walking the walk, talking the talk is the real deal-breaker, as the past year has made clear. It is now required that anyone seeking public office be prepared to denounce any and all who have ever said anything remotely offensive to anyone. This is potentially quite a long list.

It is also a rather odd exercise, a sort of redemption-by-proxy whereby the innocent confessor, having committed no offense other than to enjoy an endorsement or association, seeks absolution through repudiation of the "guilty" party.

"If you don't like my friend, I don't like my friend."

Thus, Barack Obama sought and was granted redemption by leaving his church and distancing himself from the Rev. Jeremiah Wright, his spiritual adviser for 20 years. The questions that mattered most were never really satisfactorily answered: Did Wright's now-famous rants represent his body of work? And, did Obama tolerate, not notice or not care about his preacher's offensive words?

But never mind. More important than the content of a 20-year history was the denunciation, though even that sometimes isn't enough. Judgment, as always, is in the eye of one's opponent.

Hillary Clinton challenged Obama's denunciation of Louis Farrakhan, saying that Obama should have rejected the Nation of Islam leader's endorsement. Obama said fine. He would "reject and denounce" if that would make Clinton feel better.

And then he made her secretary of state. And she did feel better.

John McCain also had to rebuke unfortunate friends, including Ohio talk radio host Bill Cunningham and Texas televangelist John Hagee.

Cunningham couldn't resist repeatedly mentioning Obama's middle name. Thrice he crowed "Hussein" as he stoked a Cincinnati crowd before a McCain appearance. After the rally, McCain expressed regret for "any comments that may have been made about (Hillary and Obama) who are honorable Americans."

McCain also was forced to reject Hagee's endorsement after learning of the minister's comments that Adolf Hitler was actually fulfilling God's will by advancing the Jews' return to Israel. Hagee repudiated his repudiation, saying that his comments were mischaracterized.

Next the Council on American-Islamic Relations insisted that McCain repudiate the endorsement of the Rev. Rod Parsley, an Ohio minister who has said that Islam is "an anti-Christ religion that intends through violence to conquer the world." McCain, who once had referred to Parsley as a "spiritual guide," caved under pressure and rejected his endorsement as well.

Other calls for repudiation came when Rep. John Lewis of Georgia condemned the GOP for "sowing the seeds of hatred and division," which, though not untrue, prompted conservative black leaders to denounce Lewis' remarks.

With no one left to denounce or repudiate, the American electorate repudiated everything else. Not just Bush's presidency and the GOP, but America's benighted past. Obama is Repudiation Personified. Given his cult status throughout the known world, it may be a matter of time before Washington becomes a western Mecca for Denunciations and Repudiations. Already the line is forming.

Human Rights Watch wants Obama to repudiate the Bush administration's counterterrorism measures. The Taliban wants Obama to repudiate Bush's "war-mongering" policies.

Given a likely future rich in such demands, Obama might consider creating a new Cabinet position -- a Department of Repudiations to evaluate requests and make recommendations.

Alternatively, the president-elect could denounce denunciations on demand and repudiate repudiations as the impotent posturings of a pandering past. He could punctuate his point by, say, inviting a controversial, divisive evangelical minister to deliver the inaugural invocation.

Oh, wait.

In Describing Politicians
a better title for this articles would be
"Lie and Cover Up" but that would be too direct for our forward thinking country now.

oh wait
kathleen, let me guuess , you are here to denounce you past hatred and decietful assualts on Sarah Palin also- oh, i see you never addresses that in you column
hateful liberal hack, you will never get back in our conservative fold- we see through you

hey kathleen
did you ever think that you marrital problems just might have grown from your decietful, lying consciousness
get back to your conservative moral values and you may still get a descent man to share your golden years with

2 Stars
One because that is the minimum, and a bonus star for writing two whole pages with nary a mention of Sarah Palin.

Wasn't Kathleen Parker the
"Conservative" who had nothing but hate and vitriol to offer Sarah Palin?

I see there is no repudiation of those sentiments.

Of course, by the end of January, she'll be kissing monkey-boy's oxygen-thieving marxist policies.

Now remove the holes
A story was told once by a preacher friend of mine, about a little boy who used his Christmas hammer to pound a whole bag of nails into his Mamas coffee table. Upon being spanked for his misbehaviour, he penitently went back and pulled out each and every nail, and reported the same to his angry Mama.

*Now,* said Mama, pointing at the scene of the crime, *remove the holes.*

Okay, Kathleen: now that you have denounced and repudiated the nails you pounded into innocent people, you and PEBO get busy now and remove YOUR holes.

Parker's Blathering Idiocy
Parker shows off her blathering idiocy here as she joins with John Lewis in saying Republicans are guilty of sowing hatred and division when she and her democrat friends did exactly that during our third-world-level election where (like the Third World) the populace was robbed of knowing basic truths by the likes of a state-controlled press, as all the MSM's fake journalists sought to serve their marxist god by lying daily to the people. One biggish example is the surprise the people felt at only now learning something of the magnitude of the corrupt public officials in Chicago, Cook County and Illinois, all of whom constitute the Alinski-tainted swampland which spawned Obama, and from which Obama cannot escape.

Parker seeks to evade her crime/failure to stand tough by her light-weight gibberish here. Her corrupt DC-land understanding of the world displays her mortal fear of what Sarah Palin stands for: the regular Blue Collar workers, those Americans who instinctively understand that RINOs and demos have joined forces to hurt America for their own benefit. Parker stands for the elitist entrenched bureaucrats who hate all that is not them, whose contempt is reserved for Republicans, Conservatives and America.

miguel in ca
nicely done

What did we do to deserve this?
Summing up, let me just say that I reject, repudiate, renounce, denounce, dismiss and utterly regret that TOWNHALL still runs the ludicrous comments of this Kathleen Parker

What did we do to deserve this intellectual torture? This is not funny.

Reading the articles of KP is an obstacle to the idea of pursuing happiness.

What kind of hole
I hate to say what kind of hole Parker is but use your imagination.

Happy New Year !!!
to Kathleen Parker

the very best and brightest conservative columnist here at TH. I look forward to reading your very insightful columns in 2009.
Keep up the good work in guiding the current conservative flock back to the mainstream of American society. They don't know they need to yet. They are starting to get it thanks to you and your honest discussion concerning Sarah Palin.

getting katty
I think what Kat is saying is that we should all gather around the fire, roast marshmallows, put our arms around each other, and sing Kumbayah.

Kathleen Parker
has not picked on the Republican Party in this column per se. She is saying that everybody repudiated everybody this year and she'd like to repudiate repudiations.
And Sarah Palin. Parker just thought she was not qualified. Me, I voted for Sarah Palin (and the other person on the ticket). I like Sarah Palin. I obviously disagree with Kathleen Parker about Sarah Palin. But "hate and vitriol"? I'm not seeing that.

Lunch with the Barracuda
I think most conservatives are not repudiating throwing Kathleen Parker under the bus. And I'm sure Kathleen Parker would be thrilled to get an interview with Caroline Kennedy if and when she is nominated as a NY senator. Miss Parker certainly will not repudiate her attraction to the rich and famous, even though they are clueless about public policy and politics and bereft of any experience whatsoever.

To assuage her sin of vilifying a Republican conservative, I suggest that Miss Parker be sent to Alaska in 40 degrees below zero temperature and interview Sarah Palin for a couple of days and also sit down for a moose meat luncheon with her.

Parker NONSENSE as usual
You are the worst writer in America. This "babble" which rambles and has no content worth anyone's time--is analogous to the stupidity of your destructive comments with the Sarah Palin nomination. Time for you to get off our web site here and now!!! You are a ZERO in my book.

Superficial Left Wing Cover
There's not much here besides One-Calorie Conservatism, or one-degree to the left musings. Note the PC, which has no place in the new conservative movement: She apologizes for merely saying "Good-bye" in another language, and she casually insinuates that Republicans sow "the seeds of hatred and division."

It is easy to see that Parker promotes the liberal cause and tries to change the focus from the liberals' anti-Americanism to the GOP's mis-steps. She fails to make the case that McCain's associations were nearly as egregious as Obama's, and pretends to be "above it all" and fair.

kathleen, still here?
Leave.

on making townhall a vermin-free zone.
But let's not begin with me..when there are more worthy candidates out there.

I see Kathleen's adoring fans still cannot control their emotions.

I know..it is easy to become smitten with Kathleen.

But this effusive praise for Kathleen is a bit unseemly.

James and Ron Jones, If Kathleen's criticism of Palin means she is a "hater" or hatemonger, does that mean criticizing Obama makes one a hatemonger too?

English writing course
Does she actually get paid to write this poorly? Time for her to take an English writing course

What is KP smoking ?
Is it "Dr.Good" cigarettes ?

She is way out of her league on this site, it really is an insult to most of the other writers.

Kathleen
We reject, repudiate, renounce, denounce, dismiss and utterly regret you being held up as a Conservative.

It's been made
pretty clear that TH readers reject Kathy. I refuse to purchase anything this site peddles as long as Kathy's musings are showcased here.

Just go away Kathy. No one cares...

Short sighted
We learn more from negative experiences than positive. That anyone would erase all of the experiences in a calendar year shows a lack of wisdom beyond comprehension.

Actually...
... this is a well-written poke at the culture of demanding that conservatives apologize to liberal interests for "offending" them (I'm suprised that she didn't mention the fabricated "Magic Negro" flap).
Conservatives seem so determined to hate KP for snubbing Sarah that they literally can't see it when she's supporting them. No wonder we keep losing elections.
JAMES - Yea, your comments might impress MS. Parker... if they were first coherent and literate. Spell check is your friend.

Pointless
How can I get paid to be so pointless?

Don't Read
If we stop reading Kathleen's junk, if we stop making comments about Kathleen's junk, if Town Hall is worth is weight, Kathleen will go away.

Can't Go With You...
Sorry Kathleen, you are going to have to go one without me. After many faithful years of reading your columns and supporting you, it has become clear that it has all been a smokescreen. Rick Warren controversial and divisive? Come now. But somehow I knew that you would get around to dissing anyone who lives their beliefs. Typical for those whose beliefs are fluid and change with the winds.

Townhall, please cancel this writer's columns.

Joie de vivre
There is a "joy of life" in this column that belies its playful-serious point, especially the serious side, I guess the conventional wisdom about political correctness. What I just said does not make much sense.

But is there not a new "joy of life" in the air in America?

The purpose of life is joy.

It's a little late, KP
Yeah, there's been some repudiating going on and conservatives have repudiated you. Treading the fine line between appeasing leftist news rag editors and salvaging what's left of what was once your readership base may have gotten you some space in the mainstream propaganda rags like the WashPost & NYT, but that symbiotic p!mp/prostitute relationship won't save their sinking ship that you're aboard - or keep them - and us - from throwing you overboard.

Can you do something besides scribble in your oogedy-boogedy, made up gibber-speek - like swim?

Hmmm, KP
Given your absence, I though that you had passed over...

I guess that you were healing from the last of your face jobs or staying in a mental clinc.

2008 - THE DANCE

....."And now I'm glad I didn't know,
The way it all would end, the way it all would go
Our lives are better left to chance ...I could have missed the pain
But I'd of had to miss the dance" ...GARTH BROOKS

Writing to listen to one's self
Of all the things that need to be said this says nothing. Self-actualizing opinion's.

I am sorry KP but someone has to be at the bottom of the literary barrel.

Tag your it KP.

She's conservative
Did you not notice the part at the end where she dismissively mentions Human Rights Watch's request that Obama repudiate Bush's warmongering? Did you not see where she subtly equated Human Rights Watch with the Taliban? Or the part where she equates pressure to stop the war to pressure on McCain during the campaign to repudiate a little-known minister who criticized Islam? Did you not notice that Parker's main move in this article was to trivialize opposition to the war on terror? You should embrace her. She's as oily and perfidious as any of you.

Repudiation
Kathleen, your mis-guided repudiation of Sarah Palin topped the list in 2008 for me.

Gracias Miguel
Good Job. Agree with your summary. Parker will be forever tainted in my mind, just because her hubby called Palin HOT! parker will not admit her problems with reality and wait... She will become a major rationalization buddy for Nobama.

you
I've read you for years and recommended your writings as clear and straight thinking. But this year you seem to have given up, and in this column given up on enverything.

Shameful and weak.

Whatever happened to
the Kathleen Parker who used to know how to write something provocative, thoughtful, and even conservative leaning? I've finally reached the point that I really don't care what she writes, I have no need to read it anymore.

Even after the election..............
Sarah Palin is still hotter than Parker.....all those martinis' from the Georgetown, east coast crowd can give one more skin wrinkles....

kathleen,=she is the queen of chaos!
wierd article!

KP: Get another job
My 8 year-old has better common sense than do you... And, he is a better journalist.

Please go away and most bloggers think that you are nuts.

I thought
I thought maybe Parker was going to repudiate her remarks about Palin and return to being a conservative. That's the only reason I read this. And probably why it was title as it was.

Catty's Musings
I admit I scan Catty's words to see how low she will go. You're already in a hole,Catty...stop digging.

addicted to anger
It is so much easier to demonize one's opposition than engage in civil discussion. It also seems that some people make anger their central approach to life. I think civil discussion is an endangered species, and the emphasis on denunciation is a symptom. The replies to her column are proof.

To Diamond Z in TX.....

"Subject: kathleen,=she is the queen of chaos!"

lol...you crack me up......lol

Giving a vote to your writing
I regret a negative vote is not allowed!

my 2 cents
1) Kathleen - YOU ROCK!

2) With a democratic regime coming into view, I take this opportunity to remind you -

as I was saying
Before i was so rudely interrupted

that

Democrats are immune to embarrassment

and

They have a severe irony deficiency

I can't wait.
Kat, I think 2009 will be one helluva year. If you try to recap it you won't avoid stuttering.

Keep writing!
"If I were to try to read, much less answer, all the attacks made on me, this shop might as well be closed for any other business. I do the very best I know how - the very best I can; and I mean to keep doing so until the end. If the end brings me out all right, what's said against me won't amount to anything. If the end brings me out wrong, ten angels swearing I was right would make no difference." The Inner Life of Abraham Lincoln: Six Months at the White House by Francis B. Carpenter (Lincoln, Nebraska, University of Nebraska Press, 1995), pp. 258-259.

KP
To be known henceforth and forever as standing for krappee, fobears to mention--I wonder why?--her own repudiation of Conservative Values, "'Cuda the Conservative Choice", Conservatives en masse, and, of course, THEIR repudiation of KrapPee.

Catty Kathy
She has every right in the world to write ,just as I have every right in the world not to read her and to let her know she is not appreciated or wanted here by most of us. Bye,Catty. We thought we knew ye.

A brief request
To all of those commenters who are tossing personal insults towards Kathleen Parker: Please stop it. Tossing a pure insult forward does nothing but reveal that you have no other arguments. Every individual on this site has at least one other argument - simply stop commenting on Ms. Parker's columns. All you are accomplishing with your comments is two things: 1) you are giving extra ammunition to those liberals who insist that conservatives are crude, boorish, and ignorant individuals, and 2) you're probably giving a bit of affirmation to Ms. Parker as well; even if you're reacting negatively, you're still dancing to her tune because she -is- getting a reaction out of you.

Thanks for 2008
All, whether for or against Kathleen Parker, and to you too, Ms. Parker, should you be reading this...

It has been an interesting year. I have found Ms. Parker's articles to be generally thought-provoking, interesting and well reasoned. Others obviously had a different experience.

What is meaningful, in the end, is our endless freedom to express ourselves. A freedom we should all cherish.

Happy New Year and Best to All in 2009

Greg

This columns Limerick
Parker wants to repudiate Two Thousand and Eight
But what really grates her is no inaugural date.
Her hubby’s going with Sarah Palin
And Obama is already taken.
Poor, Poor Parker, all alone at the Barack Fete.

Ender
Who died and made you boss?

Funny,
2008 was a great year for me.

I repudiate reading KP's insipid columns.

questions that mattered most
were never answered, and won't be answered, as Parker herself finally noted after several months in BHO's case. BHO could easily have answered whether he knew what Rev Wright said reflected Wright's true sentiments, but he didn't, and his silence on the matter both confirmed Wright as a hateful racist, and confirmed BHO as his disciple.

That no one noticed happened because the awareness of what to notice and what to denounce is programmed into everyone to denounce everything on the right, but look the other way
and denounce almost nothing on the left. It's an acquired, Pavlovian behavior that is being programmed into society everday by people who need a fair and balanced re-programming.

But setting up a department of denouncing at this time would only accelerate the current unjust direction that the denouncements are directed to. I wonder if Parker would care. But I do give her credit for taking notice of the BHO questions that wasn't asked. I was just thinking of that fact myself.

Three stars for her today. Seems as the quality of Townhall is dropping lately, hers at least is going up a little. Still, I'll take my leave of TH for at least a while now. It's hard visit a website when the only people you can really respect are the other bloggers.

Where can one go to wipe the slant clean
It's called baggage. Everyone has their own baggage and I'm not talking about derrières either. Hillary has her baggage and it's Bill. McCain had his baggage which was Minister Hagee. President elect Obama had Rev. Wright. The list goes on. If we didn't have baggage, we wouldn't be remembered. It's been asked, if we could do it all over again, what would you change. Most people say, they would do it all over again the same way. Why, because their happy with who they are regardless of the baggage. No one can please everyone. Some one is bound to be unhappy no matter how good life is to them. If we go by the three strikes and your out rule in society in disowning people, the way the law does in confining felons, we wouldn't be doing anything but condemning people. Do we want to do that. Do we want to be a society that does nothing but goes around disowning and denouncing.

Baggage
Hillary had her own baggage and it wasn't Bill. She still has it. She is no angel and even tougher and meaner in the trenches than Bill .She has a history.Study it.

'Minister'Hagee is no one's baggage. McCain had his baggage. It was being a RINO.He still has it . 'Minister' Hagee,as a pastor gets his sermons from the Bible and is no ones baggage.

Considering the article and comments
I doubt any liberals will get it, obviously few conservatives did.

Get A Real Job, KP!
Einstein defined "Insanity" as continuing the same act and expecting a different outcome.

Well, Ms. KP, you are exactly the person of whom he was speaking.

Please, make it your New Year's resolution to GET A REAL JOB!

While there are some sycophants that agree with you, please leave and take your stragglers with you because the vast majority want to kick you to the curb or throw you under Obama's ever expanding bus.

Happy Horrible New Year!

Rick Warren? Controversial?
Rick Warren is as controversial as any multi-level marketing guru. Sort of the Tony Robbins of Christendom.

Controversial? He's only controversial to the screeching mob of Prop 8 opponents, who decided that racial epithets were de rigeur, since the AA and Hispanic populations voted against them. They screech against Warren, too, like any bad 2 year old when their will is defied.

This New Year is the year where the line is drawn, ammo is stocked, and jihadists' egos aren't protected. We hope. Now that the kids have the White House - (again, 8 years after the last teenagers ran things) - the messiah-elect will have to put-up or shut-up: national security or NOT. Likely he'll cave, as the left has already managed to get a veto of his CIA choice. Wobblers, however, can turn into monsters:

After we see another 9/11, the messiah-elect will turn from his Herod Antipas persona (the one who doesn't know if 2 year olds are actually living beings) into a modern Caligula.

Too bad
Or maybe Kathleen is a little slow to catch the caveat: that associations can break a Republican (or conservative) but they don't have the same effect on Democrats. Examples abound, the biggest of which was elected President. So denouncing may seem like the story, unfortunatate as it is.

But your hands aare not exactly clean -- in the association game.

The Parker Problem
She is twittering again! Someone make her stop.

What a tangled web you weave
Kathleen does what the left is good at, i.e. oversiplify a matter until it fits a pre-ordained agenda.

Kathleen, if you’d like an example I can give you a lesson.(The metaphpor of the campaign.) The guy, Obama, who deflected his questionable associations – too numerous to mention –made the association between McCain and Bush work. I don’t credit success to skill as much as the greater hand of double standards playing itself out. As much difference and disagreement as there was between Bush and McCain, he was branded guilty until proven innocent -- if even possible. And all that politicking came from under a guise of “new” politics of “change”.

True to the form above, you weave your column to Rick Warren question. And the only people I know who have a problem with that are....
Wait....you figure it out...you know.

Classified listing
Rumor is that Michael Newdow and the Humisits are looking for a good p/r person with some associations with the right. You know, Kathleen, you could be that person. You have all the talent and particular venom … I mean passion necessary.

Waste of time...
I can't beleive I read this collumn again. You'd think I would have learned by now. Wow. I only wish a could vote a negative number for Ms. Parker...

Wrong, wrong 'address'

Do look towards 23/6 and HorsesAss in order to fit-in like a glove.

This is ridiculous
If you people don't like her columns, don't read them then, you morons! She, like everyone else, is entitled to her opinions. It's not like she's being biased or rude here.
