Will the Dems' health care Christmas Present to America be an improvement or detriment to our health care system?

ABOARD AIR FORCE ONE -- George W. Bush has accepted that he won't live long enough to witness his legacy, though he still hopes to capture Osama bin Laden before leaving office in just over a year.

These were among his thoughts during an in-flight interview on Monday following a Thanksgiving address in Virginia. Bush looked relaxed in a blue jacket, and frequently gazed out the window as he reflected on his years in office, the war and this season of gratitude.

For his part, the president said he's grateful for men and women who volunteer to fight the war against radicals and extremists and help others "realize the blessings of liberty."

"I'm amazed at our citizens who understand the risks, understand the hardships, who volunteer to do this," he said.

If that sounds familiar, it should. Bush offers few new insights these days as he remains focused on his mission to build a foundation of freedom in the Middle East. If Americans can trust anything, it is that Bush won't relent in his conviction that security at home depends on creating democratic institutions and stability elsewhere.

To his critics, this may seem like denial and stubbornness -- "the Decider" sticks to script even when circumstances change. But, as Bush pointed out, "this notion of stubbornness is based upon the criticism of people who didn't agree with the initial decision to begin with."

His greatest critics are, of course, those who want to take his place in the Oval Office. Bush won't entertain hypotheticals about who that might be but says he's trying to make the next president's job easier by making the tough decisions now. "That's why it's very important for me to remind the American people that we've got to support these military commanders, support their decisions. ... I think anybody who's president will understand the strategic consequences of failure in Iraq."

He also said that anyone who believes we're not in a war against extremists and radicals will "learn differently when they get in there and hear the intelligence I hear."

Bush's confidence in a successor's wisdom, regardless of party, may be tied to his own convictions and his characteristic tendency to project his values onto others. No sentient American needs to be reminded of the president's core belief in the Almighty's gift of freedom to all people.

But what does that mean in a practical sense? What does George W. Bush see when he looks out that window? A big picture and a time in a distant future.

I suggested to him that he has acquired a sense of time shared by our enemies. Radical Islamists have said that Americans have watches, but that true believers have time. To successfully defeat such an enemy, one needs to think as the enemy does, to see time from the perspective of real stars rather than rising political ones.

That's a tough concept for a drive-thru nation accustomed to insta-everything and gratification at the tap of a button. Five years at war in Iraq is an eternity for impatient Americans, but it's a blink of a camel's eye if you're set on destroying the Great Satan.

Bush has learned to watch the camel.

"It's real important for the president to not be making moves based upon political calendars," he told me. "I really view this as a first chapter of a long struggle -- not the only chapter, not the last chapter, but the first chapter.

"And I've told our people, we're going to write it ... so that the next president will have an easier task of dealing with the threats. And that's why it's so important that we get the FISA (Foreign Intelligence Surveillance Act) issue right, and that's why it's so important to get the detainee issue right, because presidents are going to need the information that comes from those programs in order to defend the homeland."

I asked the president if he found comfort in the possibility that, assuming democracy ultimately flourishes in the Middle East, history will vindicate him.

No, he said. Bush finds comfort in knowing that he didn't betray principle for popularity, that "I didn't sacrifice my soul for politics."

Finally, I asked about bin Laden. Bush said getting bin Laden is still important, but warned that his death won't end "extremist views" or the al-Qaeda threat. Only free societies will.

This is surely true. The question is whether Americans have the patience for such a long journey.

Time will tell.

Bush Leaks identity of CIA agent
McClellan blames Bush for CIA leak deceit

Former spokesman says both president and vice president involved

MSN-Former White House press secretary Scott McClellan blames President Bush and Vice President Dick Cheney for efforts to mislead the public about the role of White House aides in leaking the identity of a CIA operative.

In an excerpt from his forthcoming book, McClellan recount the 2003 news conference in which he told reporters that aides Karl Rove and I. Lewis “Scooter” Libby were “not involved” in the leak involving operative Valerie Plame.

“There was one problem. It was not true,” McClellan writes, according to a brief excerpt released Monday. “I had unknowingly passed along false information. And five of the highest-ranking officials in the administration were involved in my doing so: Rove, Libby, the vice president, the president’s chief of staff and the president himself.

Say what you like,
but unlike some others have done and might have done, President Bush has been willing to tackle issues that he knew would not be popular. He didn't kick the can down the road.

I have noticed that some of our congress members' hairlines move back a few inches and their rhetoric tones down just a bit after they've received a full security briefing, although some continue to spout, knowing that the public will never be fully aware of the reality we face.
I am thankful for his service. I can't imagine where we'd be at this point if we had someone in that office who didn't try to stem the tide.

C'mon Sun....
To me the real legacy of Bush is giving Congress back to the Democrats. We waited 40 years to ever have a majority, and this guy managed to drive the Republican party into the ditch. And what does he do when he's an official lame duck and has no further elections to worry about? Push a conservative agenda? Heck no! It's amnesty time!! It's put Ramos and Compean in jail time! It's pat the Clintons on the back until your hand hurts time! I long for the day I get to say goodbye to this weasel and the rest of the Bush family. If you people had any political sense, you'd cast him aside into the dustbin of history. If he is in any way associated with the Republican candidate, it spells defeat in 2008.

kgregt
I think the congressional Republicans are responsible for their own ousting from congress.
President Bush should have vetoed some of their wild spending for sure. He wasn't responsible for their corruption.

George Bush is awesome!!
If we ever needed a king, he's the guy.

Your comments are, frankly, stupid! Did you get them from your "Kos" leader(s)? It is obvious that you have no original ideas, just a "menu" of talking points. Those who can't think for themselves can only "regurgitate" cliches.

If you have taken time to study history, you must know that war ain't no 30 minute sitcom.

And, it might surprise you, if you are a "conservative" that there ain't no such animal! I'm a conservative, but I don't have to agree with you or Laura Ingraham. Lincoln was smart enough to know that there are times when compromise is the only way to move forward.

I know all the "true to the conservative way" arguments. Unfortunately, to get anything accomplished requires those who aren't conservative to also make a compromise.

I totally resent your disrespect of the office of the President. History will vindicate President Bush. And, I believe there is great cause for hope with respect to Iraq.

Bush DOES NOT CARE
>"George W. Bush has accepted that he won't live
>long enough to witness his legacy"

(Reality check, Bush, lowest approval, near Nixon's historic low)

First he does not care. In the middle of a war he’s waxing poetic about all the MONEY he’s going to make on the speaking circuit. YOU NOT HEAR THAT? Disgusting & ironically Bush, is the LEAST articulate & intellectual President in history, an incompetent leader.

Second - Pres Gee-Dub said capturing Osama Bin Laden was NOT a priority! Really! We went into Afghanistan with too few & left too early missing a chance to get Bin Laden. WHY IRAQ?

Third - Bush = criminal? White House criminality? Scooter Libby sentenced (by peers), Felon, obstruction & lying to Fed prosecutors during CIA leak case (Valerie Plame - covert CIA agent outed). Scott McLellan's new book (April) dropped the nickel on Bush, Cheney, Rove & Libby. They knew it. I hope Dems investigate.

W? Great President or Greatest President?

I can't believe the Kool-Aid U all drink. He’s Republican so you’re behind this disaster? If the Dems where in power, you’d call for investigations, impeachment hearings w/ Fox News & the idiots on rightwing radio. I’d be right there with you.

WE WENT TO WAR FOR NO REASON
THE EXCUSE WE GOT, BAD INTEL, DOES NOT CUT IT
SOME ONE SHOULD PAY? Bush

"legacy" = garbage, Roves in charge of the "library". I'm sure revisionist history, omission & obfuscation (lies) will be enforce. The library should show the 5-6 thousand DEAD Soldiers & 2 or 3 TRILLION Bush cost US! That’s what it'll cost by the time Dems get us OUT of this disaster HE MADE.

I can't believe people still believe this admin after all the lies. OH WAIT THEY DON'T! Bush’s approval is lowest in history approaching Nixon’s. Cheney’s is around 11%-18%.

Questions for Pres. Bush
Dear Ms. Parker:

In your column you quote the President as saying, "I think anybody who's president will understand the strategic consequences of failure in Iraq." Perhaps Mr. Bush can explan to the American people if the consequences of failure in Iraq are so tied in with the security of our country, why didn't Pres. Bush use the considerable resources of the most powerful nation in the world to ensure minimal casualties, swift victory, stability in Iraq and security for the U.S.?

Why did Pres. Bush surround himself with loyal and grateful incompetents to bungle the Iraq war which Sen. John McCain has called "terribly mismanaged." A war which Conservative leader William F. Buckley, Jr., as long as 21 months ago, called "Pres. Bush's failure." A war conservative commentator Pat Buchanan views as the worst strategic blunder in U.S. history?

DaveF

Bush's legacy
is the same as that of Herbert Hoover and Richard Nixon - or his father for that matter, except that we got double time of him, and that makes him worse.

Tenore Responds

In 1864, THE CIVIL WAR and other "missteps" by Lincoln, convinced him that he had little chance of re-election for his second term. He even planned to meet his successor, to make him aware of the war time situation; and to assist the new President in the conduct of the war.

At that time more than 200,000 Union Troops had been killed; the Union Generals were, in my opinion, traitors who tried to "Bushwhack" Lincoln, especially McClellan.(Do you like that play on words; look up "bushwhack", if you don't know what I mean.

Lincoln finally found a general who would “fight”; Ulysses S. Grant! I assume you may have heard of him. (Based on what seems to be taught in schools, it would not surprise me if you hadn’t heard of Grant.) Grant, along with his supporting general, Sherman, brought the war to close. But, Lincoln was blamed for the earlier mistakes that cost many lives.

Most of the mistakes had to do with a stubborn ENEMY; “surprise,” the Southern Generals didn’t know that they should have been defeated; but, since their objectives did not agree with those of the North, the battle continued!

There were numerous mistakes made during WWII; as I personally witnessed since I was 11 on Pearl Harbor day. The landing of the US troops in Africa led by Eisenhower was poorly executed.

The landing on the west coast of Italy was a blood bath.

http://www.historyplace.com/worldwar2/timeline/anzio.htm

Look at the number of casualties on Normandy; again horrible bloodshed.

http://www.historyplace.com/worldwar2/timeline/dday.htm

Then there was the Battle of the Bulge; clearly a mistake by Eisenhower.

http://www.historyplace.com/worldwar2/timeline/bulge.htm

Then the discovery of the worst example of the inhumanity of Evil men bent on remaking the world in their image; the Nazis!

(What do you think the “Islamic-terrorists” have in mind? Go to that link, just to refresh your memory.
The greatest mistake of World War II was that we LET it happen; it could have been averted if the Americans and others had been awake!

I could go on and on; but I hope there is no doubt about my feelings for people who are great at Monday Quarterbacking. People like Reid, Pelosi, Murtha, Clinton (yes, her royalty, who is waiting to see how the wind blows before revealing her plans!), etc.

The bottom line is: every war is hell; your enemy doesn’t often cooperate; good men and women die; generals make mistakes; and Presidents don’t conduct wars personally.

So let’s stop the BUSH BASHING! THERE IS ONE OPINION OF ANY ONE ON THESE BLOGS THAT INDICATE ANY ONE COULD HAVE PERFORMED ANY BETTER THAN President Bush. He has made mistakes, but he has also had many successes.

IT AIN’T OVER ‘TIL THE FAT LADY SINGS HER SONG OF UNREDEEMED LOVE!

Living It
Ramos and Compean, veterans, heroes putting their lives on the line to protect us against criminal illegal alien drug smugglers waste away in federal prison, while Lewis "The Liar" Libby(to a federal grand jury) walks a free man.

Free Ramos and Compean!

So mix up another batch of Kool Aid and buy a copy of Scott McClellan's new book.

Just demand that he resign!
"To his critics, this may seem like denial and stubbornness ..."

Yep. Not to mention shallowness and stupidity of breathtaking proportions.

Why can't Republicans just come to terms with the fact that they made a major mistake in ever supporting this guy, apologize to the American people for the damage he has wrought at home and abroad, and demand that he and his odious vice president resign? The VP should go first, so Bush (with the advice of wise elders since he has no judgment of his own) can pick a successor VP to take over as caretaker president until the next election. I nominate former Senator John Danforth of Missouri.

Forget the anger. Read and absorb what he SAYS about this disaster of a president!

Just adding
"George W. Bush has accepted that he won't live long enough to witness his legacy "

What a convenient way to never have to face up to the biggest foreign policy blunder in American History.

What is it they say about Denial?

Totally Inept
Bush pardons a turkey, but lets the border patrol agents rot in jail for shooting that illegal alien drug dealer.
He now proclaims Hillary qualified to be President, despite her lambasting him constantly for the last several years.
He truly is inept.
And I voted for him twice.

The right man at the right time
President Bush has been my President, and I personally believe that the only reason his poll #'s have dropped is because the press has generated a complete blackout of his image and his voice. America can't see him. The sound is horrible, even when they play clips.

If America sees him, his numbers go up. The liberals know that. Too bad conservatives do not.

I am thankful that neither Sadaam, nor his 2 sons, Uday and Ussay, will be ruling Iraq. I am grateful for Afghanistan's liberation from the Taliban. I am grateful that Pres. Bush's first act was to cut funding for overseas abortion. I am very happy that he initiated an amendment to defeat the deconstruction of marriage. I am so pleased that he abhors, and signed the bill to end, partial birth abortion.

I am grateful that he brought up the horrible issue of sex slavery and child porn to the UN, as well as prosecuting the same abundantly through the AG's office. I appreciate his grace and humor in many situations. He was entitled to a coupla mistakes during his 8 years, but it worked out because we got some wonderful judges in the end. I am looking forward to what the year will bring, because I believe he will not be thrown aside lightly by Providence. He will veto ENDA and I think has a few surprises left!

Tenore replies:

First of all; no president ever lives to see how history will judge him! Even to a clouded hatred filled mind, such as yours, you should be able to understand that. And, BTW, you won’t live long enough to learn how he will be judged by History either. Roosevelt, Truman and Eisenhower are still in the judgment period.

There are those that still judge Lincoln harshly; some of his actions bordered on the edge of constitutional malfeasance. (I, for one, am convinced that he is, probably, he greatest President in the history of the United States, with all due respect to Washington.)

In fact, even John Adams has had a recent restoration of his major role in the revolution; that Jefferson was given credit due Adams for the Declaration of Independence.

If you want to talk about blunders; check out the Roosevelt’s blindness towards Stalin. Part of Roosevelt’s problem was his illness. But, a really great President would have put aside his ambition to have a fourth term over the best interests of the country. He was the one single person that could have seen Stalin for what he was. Instead, he let the Soviets take control over the greater part of Europe; a direct impetus to the Cold War.

Another great blunder; the “Demo-coward” party that consigned millions of Vietnamese to death and slavery by refusing to fund the troops; the US did not lose that war; we surrendered. (Do you see a parallel today; or are you so full in hatred of our President that you are, literally, blind?)

Finally, what condition would the world be in today if we had been so unfortunate to have had “Gallore” or “Hienz” in power; it boggles the mind!

Actually, it's the fat tenor

Tenore Replies:

Bush is inept because?
1. He pardoned a turkey? Every President in recent history has pardoned a turkey; Bill Clinton pardoned several “turkeys” at the clang of the bell!
2. The border patrol agents shot the illegal drug dealer, illegally? I didn’t know that Bush was to blame for that; he’s been blamed for everything else that has gone wrong in the past two hundred years; hummm, maybe Bush was there trying to frame the agents.
3. I thought Bush said “the Cackler” was a formidable opponent; not that she was qualified; gee whiz, her husband was a formidable opponent; great politician; terrible leader.
4. You voted for him twice, really, TWICE; by your judgment, who’s the INEPT ONE?

For Tenore2 from nmi re Bush-Bashing
Re Bush-Bashing, some of the harshest criticisms of Pres. Bush have come from respected Republicans. For instance:

Fox News analyst James P. Pinkerton, who worked in the White House under Presidents Reagan and George H.W. Bush, in his April 9, 2004 Newsday column ("Pre-9/11 Doings Are Coming to Light") wrote that "President George W. Bush got a blunt warning five weeks before 9/11 and he did little or nothing." That's a heavy accusation against a President pledged to protect and defend the U.S.

9/11 Commission chairman Republican Tom Kean in a Sept. 5, 2005 interview with Reuters criticized the slow federal response to Hurricane Katrina and a lack of a chain of command which Gov. Kean declared, "cost a lot of lives."

As for Iraq, Republicans Ron Paul and Chuck Hagel have been consistent crtics of Pres. Bush's conduct of the war. Sen. John McCain repeatedly has charged that the Iraq War has been "terribly mismanaged," implying that many American casualties can be attributed to the fact those in command were unqualified to lead.

William F. Buckley, Jr., an admirer and supporter of Pres. Bush and listed among the most influential Republicans, as long as 21 months ago, declared the Iraq War to be "Pres. Bush's failure." Pat Buchanan, an outspoken Conservative, has agreed that the Iraq War represents the worst strategic blunder in U.S. history.

But perhaps the strongest condemnation of Mr. Bush's Iraq policies comes from Town Hall columnist Rich Lowry, editor of the National Review, who wrote in his Ot. 8, 2007 column:

"The U.S. government has never brought to bear its resources in a truly national effort to win (the Iraq War)."

Considering Pres. Bush's repeated wrning of the consequences of failure, and Mr. Bush's contention that U.S. security is tied to victory in Iraq, Rich Lowry's words are not only Bush-bashing, but tantamount to an accusation of treason.
DaveF

So Pres Bush trusted the wrong people.
I feel that was a fault in his administration. Probably those attorneys should have been fired by the Attorney General lllooooong before Alberto Gonzales came along.

Gonzales was a good man and he just happened to do too many sex stings, so the Democratic base had to do away with him.

After all, where is all that porn money going?

Some times there is a thing called righteous anger and I can not believe bush still has a 30% approval. Either people are dumb or willing to let our constitution be urinated on. I AM SICK. The SINGLE MOST grievous Foreign Policy blunder in the history of America and the lambs all go Bush Bush is great. Weird. Supporting a failed president and Admin is not patriotic or brave, its the cowards way. It's GROUP THINK or as they say "Lock Stepping". The GOP and hard core right wing are united in HATE for the left. It is destroying America. All the petty name calling is ridiculous.

PS never said I was wise just paying attention and blessed with common sense. Iraq is a disaster and Fox news is saying Dems Campaign for more Surrendering (with banners across the screen). Do you think Halliburton and Black Water want to war to keep going?

ok, jetpilot, Iraq goes to Iran
The only people standing against murderous self bombers in crowds on buses, in fruit stands, at soccer games, and during Iraqi police training missions,

is the United States Military. And they are lead by President Bush.

Osama Bin Laden did tell everyone, "Whenever you see someone die in Iraq, think of Bush."

I see you have taken his advice.

Get a lif
Part 2
So, an outright, outspoken hater of Bush, “Ben-Veniste” (a partisan bully, BTW) invited Rice to declassify a PDB. Who is he to determine the validity of the need to classify, or declassify an official document?

His goal was to attack Bush to save Clinton from embarrassment. That’s hypocrisy in spades; consider the “secret” Clinton document, especially those stolen by the burglar during the hearings, or did that seem unimportant to you, NMI?

[Rice's semi-admission -- she was under oath, but that doesn't guarantee that every witness will tell whole truth -- stirred up Bob Kerrey, another commissioner.]

What is a “semi-admission?” And, Mr. Pinkerton is now implying that Rice is lying under oath; if you, NMI, take that at face value, I can understand the shallowness of your ability to think for yourself.
[Kerrey was bound by the same strict rules of classification as Ben-Veniste, but he's a free-spirited war hero and so didn't care that he was breaking those rules. "In the spirit of further declassification," he announced, "this is what the August 6th memo said to the president: that the FBI indicates patterns of suspicious activity in the United States consistent with preparations for hijacking. That's the language of the memo that was briefed to the president on the 6th of August."]
And, now Bob Kerrey jumps into the fray? Hum, it seems to me that he is a democrat; if my memory serves me right.
It’s ok for a free-spirited war hero to break the rules; he, the free spirit, used the term “hijacking”; there is no evidence that the PDB contained the word “hijacking.” Kerrey used it!

Part 3
Part 3
[Ouch again. "Hijacking" is pretty darn specific -- which seems to contradict Rice's assertion that the intelligence was "frustratingly vague" as to the "manner of attack."]
Notice the “ouch”, clever writing Mr. Pinkerton, once again; Mr. Pinkerton certainly has that word solidly in his illustrious vocabulary! And, Mr. Pinkerton is certainly sure that if the word “hijacking” was in the PDB, it must be pretty “specific.”
Question: how many times was hijacking and flying into buildings used prior to 9/11?
Hum; I seem to remember a B-24 crashing into the Empire State Building; but that wasn’t a hijacking; or was it?
If the PDB was specific; it probably also contained knowledge that there would be four hijackings on the same day; was it that specific? And, if that specific, the targets of the hijackings must have been contained in the PDB; wouldn’t they?
[Plenty of people in Washington had their "hair on fire" about the terror threat in the summer of 2001. But not Bush, apparently. On Aug. 4, he went off on a working vacation to his ranch in Texas.]

[And we all know what happened the following month.]

Plenty of people had their “Hair on fire?” And, they were all concerned about 9/11 in August. And, so a full month before 9/11, Bush went on a working vacation; how un-thoughtful of him!

And once again, there’s that clairvoyance gift that Mr. Pinkerton is blessed with. He knew that Bush was not concerned.

How descriptive can one all-wise journalist be? It is absolutely mind boggling!

I assume that Mr. Pinkerton believes that if Bush had stayed in Washington the 9/11 attacks would never have occurred, right? See, we can blame Bush! Being a pilot, Bush may have arranged to help train the hijackers while hiding on a working vacation.

part 5
Part 4
[What we don't know is the precise sequence of events that led to the government's Pearl Harbor-like cluelessness on 9/11. But there's at least a chance now, as documents are revealed and as officials testify under oath, that we'll find out. In the meantime, here's a prediction, based on what we know already: Bush won't dare show more 9/11 images in his campaign ads.]

Well for once he makes sense: we do not know the precise sequence of events. And guess what, it turns out that we still don’t know why we were so clueless; why? The real secret papers were probably stolen, and destroyed, by Sandy Burger. Why is he not in prison for treason?

I for one never dreamed that an event like 9/11 would take place that fateful day. I remember Pearl Harbor Day very well; I seriously doubt that Roosevelt had a clue; he should have if the US had been on the ball and was able to decode the Japanese messages in time. Who knows? But I would never accuse him of betraying our country.

As to the other “former supporters of Bush”; I don’t have time to get into each; but I will say that not one of them could handle the stress; the challenges and the criticism constantly leveled at President Bush. He was elected to be OUR President and I will support him in that office; and I don’t always agree with him, and some of the decisions he has to make. There is no evidence that he has not been an honorable man; one who does love this country and is willing to take the heat based on knowledge he has, that you, NMI, and the rest of you cry babies do not have!

How many elective offices has Rich, or Buchanan (I had respect for him at one time; I no longer do.), or Buckley held? ZERO!

BTW, the Pinkerton article came out BEFORE the 2004 election; why was he re-elected?

And, I have only one thing to say to you idiots who keep insisting that Bush is the cause of the entire world’s troubles; get a life!

What is going on?
Townhall

I, for one am getting completely turned off by the problems encountered.

Immigrant applications cause backup
If Bush administration is so incompetent that the back log is growing with current volume of immigrants what would have happen if we passed his immigration bill that would of flooded the system with 12 to 30 million immigrants?

MSNBC-The Department of Homeland Security failed to prepare for a massive influx of applications for U.S. citizenship and other immigration benefits this summer, prompting complaints from Hispanic leaders and voter-mobilization groups that several hundred thousand people may not be granted citizenship in time to cast ballots in the 2008 presidential election.

Bush administration officials said yesterday that they had anticipated applicants would rush to file their paperwork to beat a widely publicized fee increase that took effect July 30, but did not expect the scale of the response. The backlog comes just months after U.S. officials failed to prepare for tougher border security requirements that triggered months-long delays for millions of Americans seeking passports.

Before the fee hike, citizenship cases typically took about seven months to complete. Now, immigration officials can take five months or more just to acknowledge receipt of applications from parts of the country and will take 16 to 18 months on average to process applications filed after June 1, according to officials from U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services, which is part of DHS. Such a timeline would push many prospective citizens well past voter-registration deadlines for the 2008 primaries and the general elections.

I accept the USSR kept us pre-occupied and unable to really deal with radical Islam until the 1990's, but I still condemn Bill Clinton for ignoring Somalia, WTC 1, Khobar Towers, the embbassies, the Cole, etc., etc. while finding time to use an intern as a humidor.

Bush is taking on a real enemy that Clinton did his best to ignore. In other words Bush is a man while Clinton is a boy - and they are the same age. History will vindicate Bush as a great leader. History will eventually describe Bill Clinton as a trivial man and a wasted opportunity. Live long enough and you will see I am correct.

Time will tell...
... is about the worst cliche it is possible for a journalist to use. It is beyond cliche. Which is of course also a cliche. But Parker should resign is disgrace immediately for using the sort of phrase that ought to guarantee a tenth grader an F for their homework. Of course time will tell!
And Bush does't stare out of the window to reflect on his legacy or whatever drivel Parker credited him with. He stares out of the window because he has the brains of a five year-old, watching in wonder as the cars and houses get smaller and smaller! It's a wonder he managed to do it without wetting himself or turning too Cheney and saying "Dick, they look just like ants!!!"

Won't live long enough
to witness his legacy...I can't see how that can be called denial. Huh???
Any president with any wisdom should know that. Some, however, only care about their own popularity during their lifetime, and thus kick the can down the road...let problems languish until someone comes along who's willing to tackle them whether he's loved for it or not.
Which one is in denial (if it even applies here)?

jetpilot
You assert that the President "doesn't care".
I assert that there's no such thing as not caring. Maybe he just cares about things you can't see (like the distant future), or don't know about (unless you're in on high level security briefings).
Unlike your probable hero, he appears not to care how many people are fawning over him.

johninoregon
asks why we don't admit we made a mistake electing President Bush.
John: it's because many of us don't think we made a mistake.

Bush a drunk, coke'er & DWI offender

Wow Bush is a real visionary. Yea you believe that?

Let me be more specific. Before and even after 9/11 has set records as one of the MOST vacationing Presidents EVER! He's lazy.

Bush was a drunk, coke head and DWI offender till the age of 40. (I think its rich Mitt calls Obama on omitting his drug and alcohol use. Typical self righteous hypocrite.)

Bush quotes about the future, "I can't wait to make money and the speaking cuircuit."

When Bush took office he said, "This is hard work, ha ha, I'm working hard".

Bush did not bother to land in the South after Katrina. The largest disaster in modern history wiping out a major city. HE FLEW OVER.

Bush rides is bike all the time. He is so arrogant he put the presidential seal on his BIKE. These bike trips on the road create huge cost and manpower to protect him on the bike trail. He does care about bike riding.

I know Bush does not care about all people fawning over him, good thing to, most don't approve of his performance. However he has YOU to fawn. I LOVE BUSH W. HE IS THE GREATEST PRESIDENT EVER.

Bush will be known for being incompetent and politicizing the Executive office, dividing the nation like no other; he will be known for arrogance and saying stupid, stupid, things that brought shame and embarrassment to our great Nation. Sorry you are high if you love Bush.

More Propaganda from the RIGHT

Yes I listen to Osoma bin laden, heck I am Osoma. I love how you conflate me with terrorist. You think you are clever? You are making fools talk, typical of RIGHT WING Radio. You can't refute one thing I said factually so you name call. WOW! Hannity and Rush would be proud.

WHAT? When right wingers have nothing to say they go to extremes and make wild claims, stupid things, like predicting Armageddon. OK do you have any FACTS to back up what you say? Laura Ingraham or Rush or Hannity give you that RAP. Yea I am a traitor, coward and surrender monkey.

The problem is the RIGHT WING is so addicted to this HYPER negative rhetoric, propaganda and fear mongering because it worked, for a long with the people; now the right can't stop the lies and fear mongering. Do you know what the word Demagoguery means? Do you believe EVERY THING THE BUSH ADMIN SAYS ABOUT IRAN? BUSH LIED BEFORE MANY TIMES AND IS NOT TO BE TRUSTED.

Bomb Iran, Nuke'em, Great
Yea that would give them their 9/11.

The big reason to attack Iran I hear over & over is the Iran's Pres Ahmadinejad's said the Holocaust did not happen and hate jew talk. THEY ALL SAY THAT. That is their "RAP". I am not going to war because Ahmadinejad is an idiot. The Iran people are not militant.

DO YOU BEILIEVE EVERYTHING ON FOX NEWS AS WELL?

GET A HISTORY BOOK AND READ ABOUT MIDEAST HISTORY WITH THE WEST.

There have been wars since 500ad with Muslims and Europeans with evasions both ways. The Brit "empire" tried to control the Mideast. It failed as usual and as expected, historically.

The USA has monkey'ed with the Mideast many, many times, and it BACK FIRES EVERYTIME. Iran was our friends and we sold them F-14. Iraq where buddies at one time as well. We are now giving $30 billion to Israel (but no S-CHIP) while planning to sell Saudi Arabia $20 billion in weapons.

DID 19 of 20 - 9/11 Hijacker's come from Saudi? Are most insurgents coming from SAUDI TODAY? Now we are going to attack Iran and sell the Saudis weapons?

Get a history book please. Muslims, Mesopotamia, Islam will never be pro-West or peaceful Jew lovers. How about we do some major energy overhaul and STOP buying their OIL or selling them weapons and LEAVE THEM ALONE? Humm? If they had no oil money we would send them back to the 6th century. The only attack they would have is on the back of a Camel. (I exaggerate but you get my point.)

Right wing foreign policy - BOMB THEM! We will be world pariah more than we are now are, true bullies. Iran is years from a "Nu-Clear" Bomb. Relax and let the Dems handle it before Bush and his band of idiots blow the world up.

The right is worried about Guns for the NRA, making Abortions illegal, stopping medical research and keeping gays from getting hitched. Real important stuff right.

Aghaaaaaaa!

Donkeys don't mind
"Bush was a drunk, coke head and DWI offender till the age of 40".

If Bush were a democrap, those would be virtues.

TH; what is wrong?
Fox News analyst James P. Pinkerton, who worked in the White House under Presidents Reagan and George H.W. Bush, in his April 9, 2004 Newsday column ("Pre-9/11 Doings Are Coming to Light") wrote that "President George W. Bush got a blunt warning five weeks before 9/11 and he did little or nothing." That's a heavy accusation against a President pledged to protect and defend the U.S.

Tenore replies:
*Note: in the following analysis of James P. Pinkerton’s article, his words are bracketed by []. The “he” in the following paragraph refers to Ben-Veniste; a useless Clinton crony.

[But he wasn't prohibited from asking Rice the title of the PDB. And she obliged: "I believe the title was, 'Bin Laden Determined to Attack Inside the United States.'" Ouch. Just moments after she had said intelligence was "not specific" about the place of attack, here's a presidential-level document warning, specifically, that al-Qaida's target wasn't overseas somewhere, but rather the United States itself.]

I love the ability Mr. Pinkerton has to use a word such as “ouch” so effectively.

When was there any doubt that OBL would try to attack inside the US? Remember the first WTC attack? Where is there any evidence that Bush/Rice knew “specifics of any future attack?”

And, I remember how certain most people were, that the US would suffer many additional attacks after 9/11; why haven’t they occurred?

MORE

[Seeming to realize she had said too much, Rice tried to bury the revelation by piling on words. She insisted that the document, the PDB's title notwithstanding, "did not warn of attacks inside the United States. It was historical information based on old reporting." Whereupon Ben-Veniste invited her to seek the declassification of the entire memo. Rice declined.]

Mr. Pinkerton is clairvoyant; he is able to read Rice’s mind: “seeming to realize” and “she piled on words!” Oh my, piling words is certainly something that Mr. Pinkerton is familiar with!

Posting prob/JETP
General Comment.

If anyone sees this it would be interesting to know if there are some "hidden" rules about posting.

I tried, "ad infitum" to post a 3 parter; the second and third posted fine; the first would not post. there was no 2000 char problem, and no other expalination.

So I reduced the size by splitting it; Now both have posted. Remember, there was no 2000 char message in any case.

The prob isthat my comments are scattered; oh, well.

Your hatred far exceeds your intelligence; The "facts" you allude to are only your fondest dreams; you hope that Bush is EVIL, EVIL he must
go, or the world is lost!

It is not worth anyone's time to dispute the details of your ranting; GET A LIFE; GO SEE A SHRINK, YOU NEED IT BADLY.
