Will the Dems' health care Christmas Present to America be an improvement or detriment to our health care system?

COLUMBIA, S.C. -- The holiday season is upon us and the word is Barack. Everywhere I go, I get the same question: ``What about Barack Obama?''

The Illinois senator has penetrated the American psyche in a big way. He's the season's meme, a love virus that's infecting the nation -- even south of the Mason-Dixon and especially among the maidens.

Women listen rapturously when I describe meeting Obama after the 2004 Democratic convention keynote speech that tattooed his name on the nation's brain. You'd think by their laser focus that I was disclosing the secret to reversing gravity.

Men are curious, but more skeptical. ``What about his Muslim connections?'' one fellow asked at a recent holiday party. A woman standing next to me answered first.

``His father was a Muslim, but he was raised a Christian,'' she asserted with authority. ``But I don't really care what he is.''

The woman said she's read both of his books and has an ``Obama '08'' bumper sticker on her car. ``I never do that,'' she said, as though confessing to a sudden and inexplicable urge to smoke crack.

Obama's father, in fact, was a Muslim in his native Kenya, where he was also an economist. But Obama hardly knew his father, who, upon completion of his studies at Harvard, returned to Kenya without his wife and son, then 2. Afterward, Obama saw his father only once -- for a month when he was 10 -- and otherwise was raised in Hawaii and Indonesia by his mother and grandparents.

He was not raised a Muslim. But, yes, his middle name is Hussein, as Republicans can't stop mentioning. And, yes, his first name rhymes with Iraq. And, yes, his last name rhymes with Osama.

Somewhere in there is a thread of poetic destiny.

Or not.

In any case, everybody's talking about Obama. In South Carolina, the fourth state in the Democratic Party's nominating schedule after the Iowa and Nevada caucuses and the New Hampshire primary, he would be a serious player.

Presidential primaries here are open. Thirty percent of the population is black and women love him.

Pundits describe Obama with words such as: authentic, intelligent, educated, friendly, eloquent, honest, compelling, transcendent, rock star.

I'm weary of Obama-the-rock-star. In 24/7 celebrity America, everybody's a rock star. Rudy Giuliani is one. So is John McCain. But Obama does have that thing that comes along only rarely: It.

Whateveritis, you know it when you feel it.

He's the melting pot's pajamas. With roots in Africa, Indonesia and the Midwest, he's half-black, half-white; half-Muslim, half-Christian, by birth if not in practice. Part Horatio Alger, Bobby Kennedy and Harry Belafonte, he's an American deus ex machina. Black enough for blacks -- white enough for whites -- he's the bowl of porridge that's juuuuuuust right.

But does he habla espanol?

Even his approach to issues is neither black nor white, but something in between. He's a Democrat, of course, and, as U.S. senator, has voted 97 percent of the time with his party. At some point his worshipers will have to apply objective standards to his positions.

But he's also an implementarian. When it comes to policy, his central question seems to be: Does it work?

While speaking recently to an evangelical audience gathered in Pastor Rick ``The Purpose Driven Life'' Warren's megachurch -- a water-parting event in itself -- Obama said that ``abstinence and fidelity, although the ideal, may not always be the reality. ... If condoms and potentially things like microbicides can prevent millions of deaths, then they should be made more widely available.'' He received a standing ovation.

If Obama seems too good to be true, he can't be blamed. He has been fashioned by the people's wishes into something of a savior. Like the face of Jesus that appears in a slice of pizza, he's in part an invention of need, his immense popularity testament to the despair many feel from years of bitter partisanship and a war without end.

Can he be the one to salvage this wreck?

The world is a dangerous place for those in whom much hope is invested, and that's a heap of expectation piled on Obama's plate. If he decides to make a run, he will have his spirit tested.

May the force be with him.

While I agree with your comments re: Obama, your defense of the lewd comment you posted is a lame one. Citing freedom of speech, Richard's inexcusable rant, etc. to justify your decision to include a foul remark in your post doesn't fly.

Conservatives understand (and reject) the "politically correct" agenda, but that doesn't give license to print foul language.

It was frowned upon long before we ever heard the phrase "politically correct".

You've accused JimmyJoe of lecturing. We all need a lecture sometimes. JimmyJoe is right...if this is an indication that his pants are "bunched up", maybe we all need to do the same.

Peppermint
And no IQ test required to conceive or parent a child. It would be interesting to read some reasonably accurate statistics on the percentage of Americans whose IQ falls below the norm.

Marcia
Obama is not the antichrist. That's Her Excellency HRC.

Knowing which one...
The idea that an assembly line worker deserves equal pay to a CEO or more, on the false assumption that "he works harder" is absurd, and points to the leftist mentality that denigrates the invididual and demotes humanity to the level of other animals.

There's an old IBM story. A businessman has trouble with his room-sized computer. He calls support, and the technician comes in, looks at the machine, and pushes one button. The machine fires right up. The technician then hands the businessman a bill for several hundred dollars. The businessman is outraged. "You charge this much for just pushing a lousy button I could have pushed?"

The technician replies, "No, that's for knowing which button to push".

A society that values manual labor over intellectual labor has no future. Manual labor deserves respect, but the acquisition of education, the acceptance of responsibility should deserve even greater respect, perhaps by an order of magnitude.

That's the contradiction in "leftists". They act intellectually superior, but they do not value intelligence, or those activities which require it. Maybe that's why they keep promoting touchy-feely policies rather than intelligent policies.

If Bob can dig a 6 foot trench in a day, and Joe can design a machine to dig a 6 foot trench in a day while he sits on his rear, he may not be sweating as hard as Bob, but he's worth far more money. If Bob can dig a 60 ft trench in ten days, and Joe can *organize* a crew of 6 to dig it in 2 days, again, he's worth more than Bob, even if he sits under a tree and watches the other 6 work.

Leftists also have a very skewed and absolute idea of "equality". The problem is, the rest of us too often give in to them rather than slap them down as their idiocy deserves.

Amen! Uncle Max...
...you nailed it. I only read about 5-10 posts on this week's comments before I gave up, then slipped straight to the end, where I read the ONLY sensible post: yours

The Comments section is supposed to be just that, a place for comments ABOUT THE ARTICLE. This is NOT an Instant Message, nor is it a Yahoo Group, and I dearly wish the folks who post on this webpage would honor that, and not treat it as their personal blog for pissing contests.

Some people never seem to grow up, do they?

Savior of the Democrats?
The Democrats have needed basically 2 things since 2000 to get back into play as a serious political force:
(1) for the Republicans as a viable Congressional majority party to perform seppuku.
(2) a new Bill Clinton as Presidential candidate; i.e. a youngish charismatic seemingly handsome & virile guy spouting nice empty platitudes who makes the soccermommies and other select emotion-addict demographics daydream and swoon.

Condition 1 has now been met.

After two complete misfires with Gore and Kerry, they think they have their Bill II in Obama. Whatever personal and policy magic he lacks himself, the party apparachiks and consultants will provide for him, & the pop media will hype up his supposed virtues and "spike" anything he's ever said or done that might reflect negatively.

All he really needs to be nominated is for Hillary to allow it, & if she is still half as politically savvy as she's been up to now, she'll allow it gracefully. She would never ever be elected if she ran, she & the party will have simply wasted one more turn at bat. OTOH she could possibly be Barak's running mate & not put too much drag on the ticket. Or, she could stay in the Senate, & be far better off politically for his being in the White House.

If I'm right, his campaign (including pop media coverage of his every appearance and pronouncement) will start to feature magic words that switch off whatever mental processes the emo undecideds have & give them warm fuzzies. Just watch for the pop media to start persistently referring to him as "centrist" and "moderate" like they did flaming eurocommie Willie Clinton. See if he starts yapping about "bipartisanship" and "working together" while disparaging "mean-spiritness" and "partisan bickering" and "selfishness" and "divisiveness."

did it ever occur to some of you that
while you are slamming each other and by implication all those who disagree with you in loud apocalyptic terms and calling people really icky names like "libs" and "dimmicrats" and the like that there are people who are just passing by (as in just checking this site in passing) and saying to themselves "whew - these people are true moonbats."

Come and visit my blog. I have a couple articles up that you might like.
Thanks.

Peppermint and Ms. Parker
Peppermint, I love your postings and agree with you on all of them!

Ms. Parker, very disappointed in you. You are guilty of perpetuating the media frenzy of the moment - the Obama thing. It's like a feeding frenzy, as though there were nothing else to write about. And I sure as heck don't see or hear the "it" with Obama.

I agree with Peppermint - everybody will be thoroughly sick to death of him very shortly, let alone two years!

Loyal Democrat
Larry Elder (a well known black radio show host, with two excellent books) would despise your condescending attitude towards blacks. He hates the fact that people like you want to continue making black people victims. It's incredibly racist of you. But you don't get it.

Marcia,
"Gotcha. So, as far as Mr. Obama, have y'all determined whether or not he is the antichrist?"

I don't think we've got him quite pegged as the antichrist yet. Maybe the antireagan. Or maybe he's just the uncola.

McZed
Your analogy is false. But I leave that upto the objective reader. Let's say EVERY post was dotted with your kind of vulgarity. What then?

You and people like you would destroy this site. And it is YOU who give "Loyal Democrat" and his/her kind NEEDLESS ammo to use against US.

They can then ignore what everyone else is saying, take what YOU said as an example of what gets posted, and dismiss us all as a bunch of crazy hicks.

And yes, I am doing you a favor. I'm trying to prevent YOU from driving over a cliff.

Peppermint
Are you saying that I should have let McZed's comment pass? The answer is no.

JimmyJoe
You gettin your short all bunched up again?
What did I tell ya last night?

McZed
Fact is I didnt "lecture." Made comment. Could have made it stronger, but it was strong enough to get YOUR attention.

Whatever ELSE you "have to say" can be judged on its own merits, but will NOT be if you throw in needlessly offensive remarks.... which I said made you SOUND like a dumb hick. I never said you WERE one.

It is a question of what is appropriate. This is a locker room type comment, and that is where it belongs. Not on a public forum when you are trying to persuade people to your viewpoint.

Your comment about being at war seems a little crazy though... but even if we WERE at war with all those groups, not being "nice" as you call it doesnt help you one little bit.

"Loyal Democrat" showed up earlier, and I wasnt particularly "nice" to him, so you dont have a monopoly on not being nice. Difference seems that I would much prefer not to have to do that. There is a difference between that and being needlessly offensive.

MacZed and CVN65
McZed: "All white people should line up on bended knee in order to suck this black man's knob."
CVN65: "By the way when you said "suck his knob" did you mean B.O.'s or Hillary's?"

Whatever else you may have to say, comments like these are completely out of order, completely uncalled for, and make you sound like dumb hicks.

Democrat Copycats
LoyalDemocrat said, "Only government can be trusted to run a business in a manner that is fair to the employees."

That is the very definition of Fascism. This country was founded by people who believed in the individual and were skeptical of government. You're just the opposite. Fair to the employees? If the business goes under, the employees find another company to ruin. But the private individual who put his time, sweat, hope and future into that company is out of luck. Considering how poorly the government manages all that we allow it to manage now, it's hardly a model for a successful business (the kind that can afford to hire employees).

What the democrats are going to do in 08 is a repeat of 80. Soon-to-be President Reagan and internationalist tool Bush I were duking it out for the Republican nomination. President Reagan made Bush his vp candidate. The rest is hysteria.
Hillary will win the Democrat nomination, and make Obama her running mate.

If this combination wins, the U.S. deserves what happens next. If it loses, it will be to someone not-quite-as-bad, but definitely not good. Jeb Bush maybe? By the time Jeb's out of office, the Bush twins can run as a tag-team. Assuming we still are allowed to have elections by then.

MacZed
You are completely right about the "criminal" remark. The law is becoming so obfuscated that it will be easy for the authorities to apply it asymmetrically and impossible for an honest man to stay legal. This is what they want. If they can hang a crime on just about anyone, then they can bend that person to their will, then they can make them play the game and become one of them. By the way when you said "suck his knob" did you mean B.O.'s or Hillary's?

Gunny G
Fun blog!
Thanks for your service too.
My brother was a senior sonar tech on subs.
Unfortunately he has turned into a lib. How, I don't know. Very sad.
My kids are hardcore conservatives and they will be 20, 17 & 17 next week.
One of my twin boys and his friends call themselve the BARS, Bad As* Republicans. The other is thinking about joining the military.
I'm going to show them your blog.

What The Hell Is This??
Ok, a couple of days ago it was Tony Blankley trying to sell us on this bill of goods known as "Barack Obama". Now Kathleen Parker is also attempting to foist this charlatan upon us. I thought townhall was supposed to be a CONSERVATIVE website??

I can believe KP might fall for this guy, she has always been pretty lame. But I had previously held a bit higher regard for TB. But that article of his the other day extolling the virtues of this con artist was pretty disappointing. Just which side are these people on? Do they think we are ALL idiots??

MacZed
Scathing and well said.

Rich white liberal bobbleheads in the news holding the swinging watch!

Barack, Barackk, Barackkk
Since poor Kathleen has obviously joined the lefty media fawn-fest over Barack, some comments are in order.

First: RE: "Pundits describe Obama with words such as: authentic, intelligent, educated, friendly, eloquent, honest, compelling, transcendent, rock star." Since nearly all of those pundits work for leftist media outlets, this is no surprise. What Kathleen forgot to add was the translation of this punditry, namely, that Barack is one of us, that is, a true-blue Marxist.

Second: RE: "Obama does have that thing that comes along only rarely: It. Whateveritis, you know it when you feel it." As a pro-lifer, I hope I never do, considering his record on abortion, and I hope no one else does, either. If by "It" Kathleen means charisma, consider this: this wonder boy's first name has all the charm and sound of a cartoon phrase used to describe a machine gun burst: Barack, Barackk, Barackkk!!

Third: RE: "Even his approach to issues is neither black nor white, but something in between." A statement that stands as a clear example of what happens when fawning and female love-swooning coincide, namely, a denial of reality. His positions in favor of legal abortion and homo marriage are about as clear as clear can be. Check it out!

Fourth: RE: "While speaking recently to an evangelical audience gathered in Pastor Rick ``The Purpose Driven Life'' Warren's megachurch -- a water-parting event in itself..." Water-parting for whom? The Left, which hopes to split or dilute the evangelical vote?

Fifth: RE "If Obama seems too good to be true, he can't be blamed. He has been fashioned by the people's wishes into something of a savior. Like the face of Jesus..." What's that old saying, "if it's too good to be true...?" Fashioned by the people's wishes? Nonsense. He is creation of the leftist media, and nothing more. Like the face of Jesus? Wake up, Kathy!
I thought you were too old to develop crushes.

Sixth: RE: "May the force be with him." What force? The dialectics of historical materialism? God help us.

beachmom
I have Barack Obama's resumem on my blog. Just trying to do my part to "help" him out.

Click on my handle. Shameless plug I know but WTH.

Embarrassing
It's kind of embarrassing to see a conservative columnist like Kathleen Parker get her panties all wet over an empty-suit Democrat like Obama.

Barak
He reminds me of Jimmy Carter. When Carter came on the scene no one really know what he stood for but he seemed like a nice guy and he was a new face. Turned out to be the worst pres. ever.
Nowadays, thankfully, we have the internet and access to much more information.
There is an article on humanevents.com that talks about Obama's record in Ill.

Loyal Democrat: Really?

If nobody can really hold the principles that I profess, then that must mean that nobody on the left thinks the things I have expressed. So how do you explain our fights to get justice for the poor, public schools, fair treatment of prisoners, open borders for hispanics that had their land stolen, etc?

+Please define poor? The bottom 50% of income earners that own pay 3% of total income taxes? Let me guess- the ambulatory pathology that firmly place themselves in the “to each according to her needs” column on the income redistribution spreadsheet? Do you include yourself in this virtual column? Public schools? You mean the bully pulpit of the NEA who made normalizing “gay marriage” their social engineering platform of choice in 2006? Stolen land? Seeing reality through the prism of post-modern neo-Marxism? I guess you’re not a big fan of the Treaty of Guadalupe Hidalgo.

If that is the case, there is no reason for those of you on the right to have any concerns, so kindly stay out of way and let us get moving with our agenda. Thankfully, there are many who actually feel the way I do, and they are working to make America the egalitarian paradise is was meant to be. Others like me are just careful as to where they express their thoughts, but with our recent power grab, I don't think we have to be so careful any longer. People like me do exist, and we are taking power in the house and senate in just a few weeks, and in 2008 - watch out.

+Egalitarian paradise? Everyone is equal on “Animal Farm”, it is just that some animals (anointed victim groups really) are more equal than others. The LEFT-WING's "War on the Individual" continues. Power shift? Political victory by a slim margin does not equate to a “political mandate” provided by the majority of the electorate. Watch out? Yes for public censorship via an imposition of the “Fairness Doctrine.” More neo-Marxist hate speech codes on college campuses? You bet. Most Facists were also Socialists.

And JimmieJoe, be careful about tossing out words like racist and fascist, especially if their definitions do not fit the situation. I have stated nothing racist - the belief that one race is genetically superior to another, and that the superior race has the right to dominate it. As for fascist, my statements did not advocate State control of privately owned means of production. I only made reference to Obama and the manner in which he should be handled, nothing else.

+Really? Racism (post-modern definition): pathological tendency to interject race into situations where it is not relevant, merely for personal gain (Dr. Adams) - in your case “moral vanity.” State control of privately owned means of production? You contradict yourself in the ensuing paragraph. You apparently have been listening & not considering the bloviations of your otherwise unemployable neo-marxist professoriate. Neo-marxism is as nuanced as a sledgehammer.

Am I a socialists? Sure. Fascists, nope. Corporations cannot be productive in the hands of private individuals. Only government can be trusted to run a business in a manner that is fair to the employees. Private owners don't do anything for their workers, so we're better off without private owership. All businesses should be run by government workers and paid based on individual need, not this corporate executive class versus actual laborers inequality. There is no reason an assembly line worker should earn less than a CEO; in fact, the line employee works harder! Sorry, but it's true. But I digress....

+Really? Which political party stated (a) Work will set you free & (b) Public use before private ownership? They also believed that only the central government can be trusted to run businesses. Give up? The German National Socialists of course. Based upon you previous posts I can only state that the only difference between “individuals” that think like you and your Nazi-forbearers is that fact that you are all essentially Socialists of an “Internationalist” orientation: “iNazi’s.” Also, call me a technocratic snob, but the engineers, technicians & programmers that generate all the intellectual capital within the a corporation are actually the least appreciated & the least paid for their services. This is post-industrial, information technology driven economy. But I digress…

+Might I guess that you are just another “enlightened” but underemployed recent “Humanities” graduate that is serving his/her own morally-superior vanity?

LD
Amazing. You'll doubtless be ready to help steer the egalitarian paradise to which you refer. May I suggest a slogan: "Everyone is equal, but some are more equal than others."

LsD
Although I agree that you cannot really exist in a free person, I will offer this comment:

"We should accept this guy as he appears on the surface, and not try to dig into his psyche. We chastize every candidate that comes along, so it is time to give one a free pass. Obama should not have to state his positions on controversial issues, nor should any votes he has taken while a senator be considered. This only opens the door for those who wish to destroy him bu nitpicking the motives behind his actions. Obama should be one candidate that we accept on face value, as a man only, because he is a minority that is willing to run for president."

Will you have the same view if Condi runs??

baseballdoc
Obama will be Ms. Rodham's running mate.
She'll have him on a short leash, too.

Poor Martin O'Malley
I recall in 2004, for a short moment, Martin O'Malley was the Democrat golden boy, their anointed "next Kennedy". Now, O'Malley gets to be parodied on "The Wire" while Obama inherits the "young, charismatic leader" label...

To correct GunnyG
Actually, some line workers may have multiple advanced degrees as well. And they may think about their line job every waking moment.

The real difference between the CEO and the line worker, and the reaosn one earns $1mil/year and the other $50k/year, is that the shareholders believe the CEO will earn them $1m or more in a year, while they believe the line worker will only earn them $50K/year or more. If the CEO does not generate profits of $1M/year due to his management, then he will find his salary reduced or find himself out of work. Likewise, if the line worker somehow increases profits much more than his pay would suggest, he either gets increased salary or promotion. If the company does not do either, then they are likely to lose him to a competitor who pays better. And the competitor will do so because the worker generates more value than his current pay.

On the other hand, I get GunnyG's point that to generate as much value as their pay suggests CEOs do generally require a number of degrees and a huge commitment of time, while line workers earn their lesser pay with less training and a lesser commitment of time. Just wanted to point out that salary is entirely related to the marginal value of the employee, regardless of commitment or training.

In short, though the left whiones about wage inequalities, in the private sector, competition makes sure that pay is tied directly to the ability to generate value. The government on the other hand... That is where someone should look for wage inequity.

Obama Political Life expectancy.
Several thoughts:

1) Mr. Obama is a Democrat Senator in a very Democrat State. While the first Republican President was from Illinois, that state is firmly in the Democrat Column and has no prospects for migration.

2) As long as Mr. Obama remains a Senator from Illinois, he will retain ownership of his Democrat Free Pass Card (thanks Bigbelly).

3) The press has annointed Madame Hillary as the Democrat Nominee in 2008. If Mr. Obama rises to challenge the press will revoke his privilleges and devour him. This warning is applicable to all challengers.

4) Mr. Obama has no truck to fear conservatives, as they are an insignificant component of his electoral base in Illinois. He has no fear on the National level because his own party will destroy him during the Primary season.

5) 2012 is the earliest, perhaps only opportunity for Mr. Obama to pursue the Oval Office. Of course to make this happen, the Republican party must retain the Presidency in 2008. Afterall, if Hillary wins, it could well be the death knell of our republic.

My Advice for Obama

.....Stay away from Ft. Marcy Park ...

.....Ms Parker...

.....Barak is being hyped like a rock star at the top of the charts but when the Clinton machine gets through with him ...he won't be elected dogcatcher ...never stand between a Clinton and an elected office ...sh*t happens.....COLOSSUS

Marcia
Everyone knows Arnold Swartzeneger is the anti-Christ.

Sorry KP, I'm not impressed
There are a million Americans that would make a better President than Obama. The only thing he has to offer is his "rock star" quality. Perhaps we could draft Britney or Paris.

On LD: I agree that he or she is putting us on. No one could be that stupid. Unless it's some head-in-the-clouds high school or college student.

Cynewulf,

Gotcha. So, as far as Mr. Obama, have y'all determined whether or not he is the antichrist?

Loyal Dhimmicrat
You wrote: Am I a socialists? Sure. Fascists, nope. Corporations cannot be productive in the hands of private individuals. Are you SERIOUS?

A line worker has a HS diploma and MAYBE some college. Your average CEO has multiple advance degrees and a wealth of business knowledge. Things like Corporate Strategic Plans, Future Operations, etc.

Your line worker is busy thinking about drinking beer after work with his buddies with the CEO is busy working 12-16 hour days and thinking on how to GROW his/her business. I know, my brother-in-law is the CEO of a medium-sized security business and EVERY DAY is a work day.

Yeah, Governments do things real well. Like Social Security for example. Takes money from people for redistribution to others who are too stupid or too lazy or too busy buying beer, cigs, dope, and lotto tickets to plan for their retirement.

Do you think much or is it too painful?

After careful research
I've posted Obama's resume for perusal on my blog.

Really impressive!

Marcia,
"Are most of the comments sections here full of the same posters arguing and/or joking with each other?"

That's what happens when:
A. It's a slow day; no one else is posting
and
B. We've already had several columns on Obama; it's all been said

New to Townhall discussion

Are most of the comments sections here full of the same posters arguing and/or joking with each other?

There are some good points about the column, but then I have to wade through a bunch of crap about Loyal Democrat. Some topicality enforcement would be nice.

Anyway. KP does it again--"he's the bowl of porridge that's juuuuuuust right." Great writing.

Goshawk
YES! And in his hands he has a picture of his fallen idol, John Lennon, music flowing all around, the wind whispering in his face, angelic eyes, lifted up to heaven. Ah, the picture of Peace!

Savage99/ Peppermint
Wonder if you guys get the same image of LD as I do when reading it's posts. I picture this figure in long flowing white robes standing on top of Mount Olympus!

I can just
hear John Lennon now, "Imagination,da da la, so soothing in this world of insanity.

Loyal Democrat
You have convinced me, after a pleasant half hour, that you are a figment of my imagination. My hallucinations are a reaction to the vile ideas that have been so important in my life heretofore. A merciful angel has lifted the veil and i enter a world of peace and trust, of solutions to ageold problems of famine, violence and oppression. Thank Creation that visons of caring and powerful figures such as Nancy P and G Soros are there to show the way to altruism, unceasing abundance for all, and the universal brotherhood of man.

Jerubaal
Oh, what an image that conjures up, Obamaboytoy and Nancy together. My, my, Nancy of the eyes don't shut with the empty suit wonder.

Loyal Democrat
By definition, treating people differently BECAUSE of race is.... racist. So you are a racist, because you advocate that "principle." Get over it. Your own words - not mine - indicate your racism. ML King fought for a color-BLIND society.

And to lament over the fact that he votes the Democratic party line 97% of the time is showing a bigoted side."

Criticising those who do NOT AGREE with toeing the PARTY line by branding them as "bigots" shows your facist tendencies.

Being a racist AND facist is a pretty ugly combination. The truth hurts, I know.

As for "throwing words around" - what do you think throwing the word "bigot" at those who DISagree with you means?????

But of course. Different standards for you. Different standards for everyone else.

Anyway, you can always learn new things - even from the rednecks at townhall. I'll bet you never knew you were a racist and a facist before! In addition, you support the Party of Death, which is hardly an honorable position to be in either! Gulp!

Liberal Democrat
You're back! Wonderful satire! With each post you are getting farther and farther out there.
You sure you aren't smoking crack?

Jerubaal
You're cracking me up.

I had to go re-read LD over at Larry's column to make sure I was not hallucinating when I read his posts. Sure enough there they were.

Peppermint
Just checked... "Far out, maaaan"..!

Oh, a Third Thing
3) With every new photo of Senator Hussein-Ali or whatever his name is, he looks more and more like a nancy boy.

I can't really exist?
If nobody can really hold the principles that I profess, then that must mean that nobody on the left thinks the things I have expressed. So how do you explain our fights to get justice for the poor, public schools, fair treatment of prisoners, open borders for hispanics that had their land stolen, etc?

If that is the case, there is no reason for those of you on the right to have any concerns, so kindly stay out of way and let us get moving with our agenda. Thankfully, there are many who actually feel the way I do, and they are working to make America the egalitarian paradise is was meant to be. Others like me are just careful as to where they express their thoughts, but with our recent power grab, I don't think we have to be so careful any longer. People like me do exist, and we are taking power in the house and senate in just a few weeks, and in 2008 - watch out.

BigBelly and JimmyJoe
That was a funny one, Big Belly

Ah, don't sweat it JimmyJoe, LD is a plant I think.

He sure talks like a plant. If you haven't see his posts on Larry Elder you need to go over there.
If you think this post here was nuts you ain't seen
nothin yet!

Hey BIGbelly...
..does that program offer a "free get-outta-scandal" reward.

Workers
Her excellency HRC has nothing to fear from this mere useful idiot, which is the ONLY reason he hasn't committed Arkancide yet.

Two Things
1) Parker, the only problem you have with Obama is that he isn't Mitt Romney.

2) We're seriously freaking out about Obama. America is never going to elect someone with a wierd-sounding middle-eastern name like Blabahaba Habib Osama within the geologic timescale, even if no one ever finds out his middle name is Hitler. Or Hussein. What's the difference?

Goshawk, Peppermint
Goshawk
I'm boggled. Truly confused. Is this person really real? Whatever, i'm having more fun than a monkey on a thousand feet of grapevine.

Peppermint
off to Larry. I'm grinning just at the prospect.

Peppermint and Savage99
Actually, by the time I had finished posting, I came to the same conclusion! However, no regrets. Probably a total waste of time, BUT. There really ARE some real cookies out there....!

Jimmie Carter
From what i"ve read, Loyal Democrat would be quite capable of arguing with himself. You are going to have to come up with better reasons than that. I'm still suspicious.

Savage99
When you get back from Mona you will have to go over to Larry Elder's column where LD left some goodies tonight also.

Hey Pistol..
...I have done some things like that, but I am not Lib Demo. I would look pretty foolish arguing with myself on Rich Lowry's thread if I were.

Goshawk
So Ok, my curiosity is taking me over to Mona.

Pepperment
Agreed! Thia power hungry woman is not about to let a no-nothing get in her way.

Jimmy Joe
IF, and a big if, he is serious, the positions taken by LD are indeed racist and facist and totally oblivious to even the possibility that one could disagree with him and not be the worst kind of bestial low-life. Some people, not many, are like that. Totally unaware, existing in their own little world. Like Peppermint says, who would take him/her seriously? You might as well get your shorts bunched up because rain falls down instead of up. If LD is real, discussion is pointless. It would be like trying to dance with a paper doll.

Savage 99
Pistol, you don't even want to read what LD posted on Mona Charens column. Unreal!

Goshawk
Oooh...I think you are so right. Hitlary believes this presidency is hers, it's her entitlement, and no empty suit is getting in her way!

Hey JimmyJoe
I wouldn't get my shorts all bunched up over LD.
Who would take him/her seriously?

In my opinion
Barack is being used as a Shill, a distraction created by the Demo/Lib party to keep peoples attention off of what is really going on in the background. Then when the time is right, the Klinton's will pull the plug.

Savage99
"Satirist" or not... definately racist and facist... not bad going in one short post!!

Several posters
have stated that LD just has to be a tongue-in-cheek satirist. Whatever he/she is, serious or joking, he/she is amazing. Surely no one can really hold those views, make such outrageous statements with such deadpan implication that he is serious. But, crazy ideas appear here all the time, doubtless some readers see insanity in my posts. But they generally take me seriously. One just can't get serious about LD. The prospect that at some point, this brilliant spoofer will post something like Hahahahahah fooled you fooled you all Bwahahhhhaaaa seems quite possible. Jimmie Carter, this isn't your twisted sense of humor behind an LD facade, is it?

Loyal Democrat: Final point
Loyal Democrat: "And to lament over the fact that he votes the Democratic party line 97% of the time is showing a bigoted side. Of course he votes that way, because minorities realize that their only hope lies with the Democratic Party."

Yes, I suppose some minorities do see that. I will lay odds, though, that IF the PRE-born had a voice, they would certainly NOT vote for him - because this is ONE minority whose only hope certainly does NOT lie with the Party of Death. Which is what the Democratic Party has become.

Loyal Democrat
Loyal Democrat: "Obama very well may be a minority candidate for the presidency, and you can bank on many a racist trying to bring him down by criticizing him."

Maybe some racists will criticise him, but YOU are an example of a racist who wont allow ANYone to criticise him, beCAUSE of race. Have you ever criticised George Bush? If so, does that make YOU a racist who doesnt like white folk?????

Loyal Democrat
And to lament over the fact that he votes the Democratic party line 97% of the time is showing a bigoted side.

It doesnt. It shows that people disAGREE with the Democratic party line. Are you a Facist as well as a racist, that EVERYone must "toe the PARTY line"???????

As for your use of the word "bigotted" - generally, I find those who throw such words around most freely tend to suffer from that very thing themselves.

Loyal Democrat
Loyal Democrat: "Obama should be one candidate that we accept on face value, as a man only, because he is a minority that is willing to run for president."

This is the most racist comment I have EVER seen on townhall. Think a little more - in fact - make that think a LITTLE - before posting such racist views.

Loyal Democrat
"Obama should not have to state his positions on controversial issues, nor should any votes he has taken while a senator be considered. "

I see you are up to that great satire of yours again. You're good, really good.

Can we not criticize for once?
So far most everyone has been civil where Obama is concerned. However, the big worry comes from the possibility that people will attempt to dig up dirt in order to assassinate his character. We should accept this guy as he appears on the surface, and not try to dig into his psyche. We chastize every candidate that comes along, so it is time to give one a free pass. Obama should not have to state his positions on controversial issues, nor should any votes he has taken while a senator be considered. This only opens the door for those who wish to destroy him bu nitpicking the motives behind his actions. Obama should be one candidate that we accept on face value, as a man only, because he is a minority that is willing to run for president.

And to lament over the fact that he votes the Democratic party line 97% of the time is showing a bigoted side. Of course he votes that way, because minorities realize that their only hope lies with the Democratic Party. Obama very well may be a minority candidate for the presidency, and you can bank on many a racist trying to bring him down by criticizing him. Want to flush out the cross-burner at work? Look for the guy that dislikes Obama.

Insipid Slug Report
Ouch! I'm glad you are holding back your real feelings.

Savage99
I did have another thought since you brought up stupid. I was thinking, hm...maybe he CAN make it.

He talks about nothing, has nothing to offer unless you are a lib, I heard his book reads like nothing, no ideas in there.

By golly, he's the perfect candidate for the country!! Maybe he can designate new liberal thinking, antiquated persons such as McGovern and Timothy Leary to get out another Insipid Slug Report on Iraq.

Savage99
Yep, stupider than average. That's the ticket to vote. No IQ test needed to vote. Scary!

Golly Peppermint
I hope you are right. Certainly lots of folks will be sick, but it takes a majority. I'm starting to believe that the majority of voters are stupider than average.

This guy is D.O.A
by 2008. Everyone will be so sick of the MSM kissing up to him, fawning over him, staggering over every insipid thought of his, that we will all be glad when Hitlary calls in the hit man.

Paul,
That was really a funny one.

You're welcome, Savage
I hope Josue gets you back up and running as Pistol again.

Thanks again Cynewulf
The foul mood i'm in is probably due to backed up frustration at not being able to post any responses for a week.

Providing perspective
An empty taxicab pulled up at the curb and Barack Obama got out.

Savage,
good point.

Got that link on my blog that you requested.

The very fact
that at this point in his career Obama is taken seriously scares the begeezus out of me. Just what per cent of the voters in this country have taken leave of sensibility? Surely at some grim point reality will take over.

Kathleen... Make up your mind...
Kathleen From a recent column:
"Let's just say that the thought of aborting a baby elephant, even in the earliest gestational stages, is repugnant in a way that transcends intellectual arguments about constitutional rights to privacy."

... And now you wish the "Force" be with a man who supports the abortion of human right upto the moment of BIRTH?????

Kathleen, I wish you'd make up your mind one way or the other. You are holding two mutually contradictory views in your head.

IF you have a difficulty aborting baby elephants, then
IT SHOULD follow that you would have a difficulty aborting baby humans,

FROM which it should follow that any advocate of that same should have ZERO support, from YOU.

K. Parker,
1. " He's a Democrat, of course, and, as U.S. senator, has voted 97 percent of the time with his party."

2. "But he's also an implementarian. When it comes to policy, his central question seems to be: Does it work?"

How do you reconcile those two?
