What was the biggest suprise of Election Day?

``... disbelievers will be cast into an eternal fire. But Allah is also ever merciful, and the West can change its ways and turn to the purifying power of Islam ...'' -- Kidnapped Fox reporter Steve ``Khaled'' Centanni, channeling his captors.

We don't often get to watch our media people convert to Islam, so the footage of Fox News' Steve Centanni and Olaf Wiig has been riveting.

Some people can't get enough of watching planes fly into the World Trade Center towers; I can't get enough of Centanni and Wiig pledging allegiance to Muhammad, Peace Be Upon Him.

The common thread between the two is disbelief. I keep rerunning the tapes, now posted on the Web, trying to read the kidnapped men's body language and translate the meaning of deep breaths and eye movements.

Trying, alas, to imagine being in their place.

As everyone knows, reporter Centanni and cameraman Wiig were released several days ago after being seized in Gaza City by masked gunmen and held hostage for 13 days.

It's not clear exactly who their kidnappers were, whether part of the Holy Jihad Brigades, as claimed, or whether they had ties to Hamas or the al-Aqsa Martyrs Brigades, an offshoot of Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas' Fatah.

You need a scorecard to keep up with all the region's disaffected. Apparently, when three or more angry Muslims gather in a garage, a new jihadist group is born.

What's perfectly clear is that video is the new weapon of mass destruction. A billion people manipulated into religious frenzy is a formidable force. It is also clear that the West's continued existence -- at least from the perspective of Islamist militants -- depends upon our willingness to bow to Islam.

Those two conclusions are made possible by the images of Centanni and Wiig holding up an index finger and proclaiming allegiance to the Prophet Muhammad.

Says Centanni: ``My name is Steve. I'm an American. After I entered Islam, I changed my name to Khaled. I have embraced Islam and say the word Allah, and my leader is the Prophet Muhammad, Peace Be Upon Him.''

Wiig -- new name ``Ya'aqob'' -- repeats the liturgy.

Then the two men proceed to read a script outlining all the reasons why the West is wrong -- from invading Afghanistan and Iraq to the tortures of Abu Ghraib. They also ask that all prisoners be released from Guantanamo and that President Bush cease referring to Islamic fascists as ``Islamic fascists.'' Continued...

you sure have a big mouth, nemo
I AM a Christian.

Ouch, you really have a problem with me. Sorry about that. Not much I can do if you think my disdain for the current misAdministration somehow equals my not being 'Christian enough' for you.

I, like Jesus (my Lord and Savior), abhor violence. I abhor lies.

Your knee-jerk defense of this pResident doesn't make you a better Christian, it makes you a robotic sycophant.

There was no connection between al Qaeda and 9/11. There was no possibility of Saddam doing anything to our nation - it was all lies, and everyone involved knew it.

Your support for this war and the pResident only betrays your bloodlust and inhuman desire to see others murdered for your ideology.

You are not Christians in my book. Sorry.

A Response to Prozacula
What REALLY motivates Prozacula?

I suspect that, in his/her case, beneath the outer layer of seething, irrational, borderline psychotic hatred for George Bush is an inner layer of seething, irrational hatred for the people, the culture and the religion that the president represents.

Beneath that layer lies an intense, profound hatred for America and all things traditionally American.

Under that? A rejection of and hostility toward traditional values as embodied and practiced in both Judaism and Christianity, causing Prozacula to embrace anything and everything that opposes those values or religions.

Whence comes such hostility?

I suspect that Prozacula’s pathology has very deep and tangled roots in a personality dominated by a profound anger toward, and resentment of, authority – perhaps the result of childhood or adolescent issues involving parental authority such as a father, step-father or some other male authority figure.

Simply stated, at the very core of Prozacula’s being is a spoiled, unhinged, enraged adolescent screaming, “You are not the boss of ME, Daddy! I can do what I want, whenever I want.”

How very, very sad.
-------------------------------

Prozacula: “Don't you remember when God told the Israelites to destroy entire villages? That if they didn't kill every last woman, child and animal in the village he would curse them? How do you think the Israelites got their land in the first place, being peaceful?”

Actually, the land now known as Israel was given to Abraham by God, in the wake of the covenant the Almighty forged with him. It was there that he and his tribe settled and it was there that the Israelites began their history – one in the course of which they were often brutally attacked by neighboring kingdoms and from which they were twice carried off into slavery. No one disputes that the Israelites were often savage when it came to fighting their enemies. Nevertheless, Judaism never was, is not now and never will be a religion of martial conquest and the military imperative to conquer and convert the whole world to the faith of Abraham, Isaac and Moses can be found nowhere in Jewish theology or history.
----------------------------

Prozacula: “Islam was started in JUST AS MUCH violence as Christianity.

The only violence in which Christianity was founded was the torture and crucifixion of Jesus of Nazareth. Those who worshipped Him as the Son of God and practiced that which He taught were anything but violent and the first centuries of Christianity were marked by often brutal persecutions of Christians just about everywhere they went. Yet, in spite of all this, Christianity grew exponentially, beyond the power of the most crazed Roman emperor to extinguish it.

Nowhere in the New Testament will one find a single passage in which the Christian is exhorted to do violence to others in the name of Jesus.

Islam, on the other hand, is and always has been a religion of violence and conversion by the sword. Such teachings are found in both the Quran and the Hadiths and have been practiced since the days of Mohammed, who consolidated other tribes under the banner of his new religion by killing as many of them as he could. Islam itself is a bizarre, mutant hybrid of Judaism, heretical Christianity and various tribal animist beliefs.
-------------------------------

Prozacula: “How do you explain the Crusades? The Inquisition? Religious wars? Witch hunts? Christianity's roots are soaked in just as much blood as Islam's.

Very easily. Let’s take them one by one.

The Crusades were a belated defensive measure against the encroaching menace of Islamic jihad.

As for the Inquisition, I suspect you are thinking of the Inquisition in Spain, instituted to Spain to ferret out crypto-Muslims in the wake of the 700 year long Reconquista of Iberia from the Mohammedans. It, too, was a defensive measure against Islam.

Witch hunts, ironically, occurred most often in Protestant lands. Catholic theology does not place much stock in the existence of witchcraft and in countries where such cases were brought before the Inquisition they were often dismissed as baseless and absurd. Yes, there were plenty of witch hunts. But then, the folks doing the hunting weren’t so much following the teaching of the Church as they were their own peculiar interpretation of Sacred Scripture.

As for wars of “religion,” anyone who is familiar with both European history and human nature knows that religion was almost always the pretext for a thoroughly secular agenda of war and conquest. Very few of the ruling nobles and even fewer monarchs were as devout to the cause of the Christianity they preached as they were to the consolidation of their own personal power and wealth. It doesn’t mean that Christianity was bad, only that these monarchs and nobles were spectacularly BAD Christians.
------------------------------------------

Prozacula: “You can't count the number of times someone has been killed in the name of Christianity. Timothy McVeigh? Eric Rudolph? Both CHRISTIAN TERRORISTS.”

I can’t count the number of times ANYONE has been killed in the name of anyone or anything else, be it for Christ or jealousy over a man or woman. Nevertheless, as a matter of historical record and fact, more people have been slaughtered in the name of the atheistic state in just the 20th century alone (Stalin, Hitler and Mao snuffed over 100 MILLION lives) than all the people who ever died in the name of Yaweh, Jesus and Allah combined since the days of Abraham.

Can you name any Christian terrorist group on the State department’s Terrorist Watch List? Can you point to any concerted effort on the part of a group of individuals committed to furthering the cause and spread of Christianity by committing acts of savage violence against innocent civilian targets?
------------------------------------

Prozacula: “Here is a little history on Hitler for you, since you obviously have never read ANYTHING related to the subject: Raised as Catholic he went to a monastery school and, interestingly, walked everyday past a stone arch which was carved the monastery's coat of arms which included a swastika… Much of his philosophy came from the Bible, and more influentially, from the Christian Social movement. (The German Christian Social movement, remarkably, resembles the Christian Right movement in America today.)"

You have no idea what you are talking about. Rather than spend time and space quoting what actual scholars have to say on the subject, I’ll direct you here: http://kevin.davnet.org/essays/hitler.html. It’s a decent website that does a pretty good job of approaching the subject even-handedly. Read it through, from beginning to end. Perhaps – just perhaps – you will learn something.
-----------------------------------

Prozacula: “Hitler was a fascist - the combination of industry, religion and politics - gee, that sounds familiar. Who do we know that is using the combination of politics, industry and religion to govern a country a is beginning to restrict rights? Hmm...”

Iran sounds like the ideal candidate. And by the look of things, they will have nuclear weapons fairly soon.
----------------------------------------

Prozacula: “The TINY number of radical Muslims is not worth the blood and money spilt in the "war" on terror.” …

That “tiny” number includes not just the terrorists themselves, but those who support them – either directly or indirectly, and likely numbers in the MILLIONS. This doesn’t even include those Mohammedans who sympathize with them, probably numbering in the tens if not HUNDREDS of millions.

Apparently you forgot about the first attack on the World Trade Center, the embassy bombings, the USS Cole and the BIG One on September 11 – not to mention the continued and relentless attacks since.

Islam has been waging relentless war against the West LONG before the presidency of George W. Bush, LONG before the creation of the state of Israel – indeed, LONG before the United States you so viciously hate declared its independence from Great Britain.
-------------------------------------

Prozacula: “Our useless, immoral war based on lies is the direct reason why the journalists were ever kidnapped in the first place.”

Actually, they were kidnapped for propaganda purposes. And it worked like a charm, if your rantings are any indication.
-----------------------------

Prozacula” How was Iraq attacking us? “

After the Gulf War Iraqi anti-aircraft gunners regularly targeted U.S. warplanes that patrolled the so-called “no-fly zone.” Then Saddam orchestrated an attempted assassination of George H.W. Bush, after which he made it abundantly and very publicly clear that he intended to eventually attack the U.S., either overtly or covertly. He did, in fact, have ties to al Qaida – as indicated in the report of the 9-11 Commission; he did, in fact, give refuge and sanctuary to one of the bombers involved in the attack on the World Trade Center in the early 1990’s and he certainly did possess WMD’s. H used them on his own people and was actively seeking uranium in Africa in the hope of eventually developing nuclear weapons. All of this is undeniable fact.
------------------------------------

Prozacula: “How were we at risk in any way? We weren't. Everyone knows it.”

Oh, but we were at risk. And many Democrat senators and representatives who otherwise oppose our efforts in Iraq today nevertheless loudly called for regime change against Hussein while President Clinton was in office – as early as 1998. Without exception they all believed – as did Clinton – that Hussein possessed WMDs or, at the very least the capability of manufacturing them. This is a matter of historical fact and cannot be parsed, denied or ignored.
-------------------------------------------

Prozacula: “We attacked a country completely unprovoked. “

Hardly. We gave ample warning to Hussein that we had every intention of carrying out the United Nations resolution that called for action if Hussein did not comply. Moreover, the president acted only after being authorized to do so by Congress. It’s as simple as that.
--------------------------------

Prozacula: “We are a savage nation of warmongers.”

Isn’t it horrible how we overthrew a dictator who tortured and slaughtered hundreds of thousands of his own people? Isn’t it just awful how we stomped on the poor Taliban in Afghanistan? What savages we were to defeat Hitler and Tojo! How monstrous of us to oppose Soviet oppression and eventually topple the Soviet Empire! I’m aghast at the sheer viciousness with which we prevented North Korea from assimilating South Korea into a totalitarian nightmare and the brutish savagery with which we intervened in Bosnia to prevent the wholesale slaughter of Muslims. Our cruelty knows no bounds when we are the first to send aid and assistance to any people anywhere on earth whenever a typhoon, tsumani, earthquake or other natural disaster strikes. Oh, the humanity!
------------------------------------------

Prozacula: “and bush is no christian either…attends church less than any other president in the history of the united states…”

Any other president in the whole history of the United States? And your source for this morsel of trivia is......what IS your source? DailyKos, perhaps? HuffPo? Some other moonbat blog?

As I recall, President Clinton – a confirmed moral reprobate – frequently attended church services, always making sure to hold his Bible.

That I can determine, Abraham Lincoln – regarded by many scholars as one of the most morally upright presidents ever to occupy the White House – NEVER attended church services. On your scale, that makes Honest Abe worse than Dubya and by your logic, if Hitler had attended church every Sunday that would qualify him as a good Christian. Regular church attendance no more makes one a Christian than going to a stable every Saturday makes one a horse.
----------------------------------------

Prozacula: “(Bush)….constantly curses ('major league a**hole' - google it)…is wealthy beyond anyone you know - eye of the needle and all that.”

I guess no other president in U.S. history or any Christian in the past 2,000 years ever used profanity. Although the Decalogue does prohibit taking the name of the Lord in vain I don’t recall that it ever condemned referencing someone as an anal orifice. Fact of the matter is that GWB was right: Adam Clymer was and is a major league a**hole. The prez caught the grief because he simply SAID what everyone else was THINKING.

As for “wealthy beyond anyone you know,” I know a lot of people. Apparently you do not. Check out the Fortune 400 list of the richest people in America. The name “Bush” isn’t on the list.
--------------------------------

Prozacula’s various rants: ” Your bloodlust would disgust Jesus, as would almost every single comment on this thread…But you hypocritical FAKE Christians ignore that part of the Bible…. religious extremism in any religion is bad. you are a christian extremist, just as all the many commenters are on here. 'my god is better than your god, let's nuke the infidels'…. Who Would Jesus Bomb?... jesus would NOT approve of this comment thread.”

Would that you believed in or even respected Jesus. But you don’t and that much is evident in your words. To you, the Nazarene is not the Son of God or even a gentle soul who preached a gospel of love for one’s neighbor. He is a nothing more to you than a stick with which you regularly beat Christianity in general and Christians in particular.

If you claim to be a Christian, you would do well to spend more time perfecting the practice of your own faith rather than obsessing over the failure of others to perfectly practice theirs.
