Will the Dems' health care Christmas Present to America be an improvement or detriment to our health care system?

Politics, liberals and immigration were hot topics last week. See what else Townhall.com readers were talking about during the week that was -- May 27 - June 3, 2007

#10. The Double "Thank-You" Moment
by John Stossel
Some people hate me because I defend free markets. Once someone accosted me on a New York City street and said, "I hope you die soon." Why the hostility to commerce? What could be more benign than the freedom to trade with whomever you wish?

#9. Lawson’s Creek
by Mike Adams
Those who read my column regularly will remember a run-in I had in March of this year with our student newspaper, The Seahawk. It involved an intentional act of libel by student editor Justin McLeod, who knowingly ran an article falsely accusing me of supporting the mass murder of homosexuals.

#8. A War of Words: Part II
by Thomas Sowell
With gasoline prices rising, political rhetoric is rising even faster. Liberals in Congress and in the media have launched a war of words, whose net result may well be a demand for some form of price control.

#7. Should Mormonism Disqualify a Candidate?
by Michael Medved
Mitt Romney’s increasingly credible Presidential campaign raises urgent but uncomfortable questions about his Mormon faith.

#6. Doing the Booing Americans Won't Do
by Michelle Malkin
The United States government is on the verge of approving a mass amnesty to millions of illegal aliens -- a plan pushed aggressively by meddling Mexican officials who reap billions of dollars in remittances (illegal aliens' earnings sent back to Mexico) without having to lift a finger to clean up their own country.

#5. Liberal Hypocrisy on the 2008 Campaign Trail
by Amanda Carpenter
There’s been no shortage of stories to strengthen the “hypocrite” label that’s dogged John Edwards’s presidential campaign, but that doesn’t mean the other Democrats running for the White House haven’t been acting holier-than-thou.

#4. A Green Card in Every Pot
by Ann Coulter
Americans -- at least really stupid Americans like George Bush -- believe the natural state of the world is to have individual self-determination, human rights, the rule of law and a robust democratic economy. On this view, most of the existing world and almost all of world history is a freakish aberration.

#3. Senator Cranky Strikes Again!
by Kevin McCullough
Senator John McCain has anger issues with the American people. In days past his foul temper has erupted with less than perfect timing. But now he would have you believe, that you don't believe, what you truly believe you believe.

#2. When Porn Stars Get Offended"
by Mike Adams
When I was in college I was a professional musician. I didn’t write many songs but I used to try occasionally to write very stupid country songs hoping I would eventually write one dumb enough for Garth Brooks to record. I even had an idea for one called “When Porn Stars Get Offended.” (The punch line was: “When porn stars get offended, that’s when I’ll quit loving you”).

#1. A War of Words
by Thomas Sowell
It has long been recognized that those on the political left are more articulate than their opponents. The words they choose for the things they are for or against make it easy to decide whether to be for or against those things.

Kudos! You are the only one that has said what I have been saying. There are way more than 12 to 20 million illegal immigrants.

A side comment
I know it was last week, but people in various threads this week continued to comment about Linda Chavez' controversial article, and I see are continuing even now to comment in the original article thread.
I don't know if some of the overtly racist postings are still there.I remember seeing them, and I know they were used to prove Chavez' point. Were they regular TH posters? I am just now learning that people do swoop in from Kos or wherever to argue a point. It occurred to me that one could also swoop in to post things like that here, and then that could be used to "show" that conservative posters on TH are a bunch of bigoted nuts.
It didn't occur to me to use the flag-as-offensive button on those posts...I'm still new to this. But I now see a good reason to use it: to let the record show that although someone posted a racist remark, other posters shut it down.
