Was the Copenhagen Global Warming Summit Walk-Out a Win for the U.S.?

During the hothouse days of the presidential campaign, Joe Wurzelbacher became famous because he got Barack Obama to confess that he likes to spread the wealth around. Better known as Joe the Plumber, the Toledo, Ohio, laborer became the target of bottomless venom and scorn because he seemed like an obstacle to Obama's coronation.

One of the main talking points, particularly among left-wing bloggers, was that Wurzelbacher was a tax cheat because, it was revealed by ABC News, he had a tax lien of $1,182 for back Ohio state taxes. This fueled the argument that he was a fraud, his opinion didn't matter. Nothing to see here, folks. Move along.

Fast-forward to today. Timothy Geithner, President Obama's choice to be the next treasury secretary, quite clearly tried to defraud the government of tens of thousands in payroll taxes while working at the International Monetary Fund. The IMF does not withhold such taxes but does compensate American employees who must pay them out of pocket. Geithner took the compensation -- which involves considerable paperwork -- but then simply pocketed the money.

His explanations for his alleged oversight don't pass the smell test. When the IRS busted him for his mistakes in 2003 and 2004, he decided to take advantage of the statute of limitations and not pay the thousands of dollars he also failed to pay in 2001 and 2002. That is, until he was nominated to become treasury secretary.

Obama defends Geithner, saying that his was a "common mistake," that it is embarrassing but happens all the time. My National Review colleague Byron York reports that, at least according to the World Bank, Geithner's "mistakes" are actually quite rare. Indeed, it's almost impossible to believe that the man didn't know exactly what he was doing given that he would have had to sign documents, disregard warnings and all in all turn his brain off to make the same "mistake" year after year. And keep in mind, Geithner is supposed to run the IRS. So maybe sloppiness isn't that great a defense anyway.

The bulk of Senate Republicans seem willing to green-light his appointment because, in the words of many, "he's too big to fail." Wall Street likes this guy and so does Obama. So, who cares if he breaks and bends the rules? Who cares that he took a child-care tax credit to send his kids to summer camp? He's the right man for the job, no one else can do it, he's the financial industry's man of the moment.

This strikes me as both offensively hypocritical and absurd. Obama has made much of Wall Street greed. He and his vice president talk about paying taxes like it is a holy sacrament. They both belittled Wurzelbacher for daring to suggest that the Democratic Party isn't much concerned with how the little guy can get ahead.

Heck, Obama and pretty much the entire Democratic party insist that they speak for the little guy. But it appears they fight for the big guys.

You would think this is a perfect moment for Republicans to stand on principle, particularly since their votes aren't needed to confirm Geithner. What they will tell you is that Geithner is the indispensable man and, in the words of South Carolina Rep. Lindsey Graham, "These are not the times to think in small political terms."

Never mind that there's nothing small about the belief that paying taxes in an honest fashion is a minimal requirement for the job of treasury secretary. What's absurd is that Geithner, who helped regulate Wall Street as head of the New York Fed, is the indispensable man now. He may indeed be qualified to be treasury secretary, but is he really the only man who can do the job? Really? Everyone said the same thing about Hank Paulson not long ago. How'd that work out?

I thought the Democrats believed the financial implosion was caused by arrogant and greedy men who thought the rules didn't apply to them because they were so important. I guess they didn't mean it.

Typical
The GOP thinks that THIS TIME, if they continue to play nicely, that the Dems will do the same when the GOP is back in power. What a bunch of pansies. Lindsay Graham is the worst of the bunch, with Susan and Arlen not far behind.

TIME FOR SLASH AND BURN GOP!
Let the RINO's vote with the Corruptocrats. Real GOP senators and congressmen must stand up and try to stem the tide. It may not work--but real conservatives will stand up and win in 2010 and 2012 after the O'Bummer and his minions trash our country.

Great column Jonah
The fact that the democratic party and its president and the media worshipers fully support a tax dodger for Treasury Secretary should surprise no one. The fact that so many republicans feel like Lindsey Graham goes a long way to explaining republican electoral failures. We really are turning into a monarchy. All the toadies are more concerned with sucking up to the new King than the country he will help destroy.

Future Wacos will be much more professionally handled with the advent of a civilian defense corps equal to the military in manpower, funding, and weaponry. "in the words of South Carolina Rep. Lindsey Graham, "These are not the times to think in small political terms."

Transparency in government !
We are corrupt and we don't care if you know it!
We are now ruling, submit, resistance is futile.

These GOP
fools are NOT Republicans, and for them to go along with the DemonRATS and spit in the eye of every taxpaying wage slave, especially those who
were harassed and intimidated by the IRS are
what Cicero described in 42 b.c...traitors within the gates and in the halls of government.
It's about time we DEMAND answers as to why
Geithner, and Rangel get a pass because they
'hiccuped" or made mistakes. yeah right, these guys are either in the financial business or writing the tax code..remember the IRS says ignorance is no excuse when it comes to this monster called the tax code..even if your accountant messes up..you are responsible, thus if you have no political pull, you are named
as was Joe the Plumber a scofflaw and have earned the just punishment of your betters.
And I have a nasty suspicion everyone of these
criminals that are in the 9% minority and the
RINO DEMONRAT wannabe's have "hiccups" regarding their own taxes.. goes for the media
cockroaches also. We had to use our retirement 401 ks to survive following a series of job losses, and we were hammered with taxes..we couldn't "hiccup" we had to pay up or else while these outhouse leavings are given a pass because they are "just too too important."

Graham
and his fellow travelers should get tarred and feathered..I am so sick of the GOP excusing their perfidy. What's so hard about KICKING the RINOCRATS OUT! They have no moral convictions,
they certainly don't believe in the current party platform and if they succeed in rewriting it to their shallow stuck on stupid ideology, then they will have KICKED the people they need to win ANYTHING! They are the fellow traveler enablers that the Communists used
Graham is not only a fellow traveler but a useful idiot.

Just remember that

John McCain received money from Soros and Lindsey Graham is John McCain's best friend and that Geithner and Paulson have the same professional geneaolgy. In addition, Obama was also part of the Soros cabal. Then you will understand the dynamics at play in Geithner's nomination and the fact that some Republicans are voting for him.

The huge scam that Paulson started in September with the financial collapse panic will be continued by Geithner, Obama, McCain and the other Soros flunkies. Who is receiving all of the taxpayers' monies from these buyouts? The very wealthy from Wall Street like Geithner, Paulson, Soros, Chris Dodd, Barney Frank, Harry Reid and Nancy Pelosi and their supporters.

Soros deals in currency. Do you think he has plans for ruining the U.S. currency for his own benefit?

There are few crooks in the world bigger than those in D.C. Geithner is needed to continue the scam and continue ripping off the American taxpayers.

The Obamanation is just beginning.

Pathetic Mess
This 'transformational' man, whatever that is, has selected a corrupt, unqualified, ethically-challenged woman to be the Secretary of State and now a common criminal to head the Treasury department. The Attorney General candidate is a man who neglected to check out applicants for pardons and participated in several outrageous government exercises. And on and on. Geithner is not indispensable; he is a tax cheat and common crook with less ability than those with high school diplomas or less who faithfully pay their self-employment taxes consistently. This entire administration seems to be heading into history as the most corrupt ever assembled and it appears that the Republican party has taken on the role of 'enabler' since I have heard very little squawk from them. What a pathetic mess.

Good point CVN65
"The GOP thinks that THIS TIME, if they continue to play nicely, that the Dems will do the same when the GOP is back in power."

What's the RINO mantra?

Fool me once, shame on you.
Fool me twice, shame on me.
Fool me thrice, shame on my mom for birthing such an idiot.

When are we going to learn that to deal with the dims, we've got to get mean and nasty.

Politics as usual...
this is what Americans get for thinking that the government will save them. Corruption and hypocrisy on both sides of the aisle.

Rule of Law?
All these years I naively thought this country had "rule of law'. I no longer believe that.

The "rule of law" is just for us little worker bees that don't know any better.

What happneded to my country. Guess I've been living in ignorance all these years and seeing how things really are is heart breaking.

Seems a very bleak future is unescapeable. Our society is on a suicide run at an ever faster pace. It's almost unbelieveable.

If the indoctrination, uh I mean education system continues on it's current course, we are certainly all doomed.

Unlike Hillary...
Geithner's nomination at least is constitutional. Hillary's nomination clearly violates a specific prohibition in the Constitution so they have to play games and find a loophole. No one seems to really care anymore. These are the people "they" want so "they" will get them no matter what.

Apathy
We, as a society, both liberal and conservative, have become so desensitized to the left's crookedness that it has become ho hum. Nothing is sacred. Everyone pretty much accepts the shenanigans that this past election brought to the light.

Almost everything about Obama would've been considered contemptible even by democrats just twenty years ago. Just his associations and lack of experience alone would've disqualified him. But now he's the POTUS. There is NOTHING good about this man. I'm in bizarro world.

Tax Cheat
And the tax cheat will more than like be approved as Secretary of the Treasury. What a great example for this administration! Chicagoland thugs, all!

Its time
Its time to take our country back from these criminal thugs known as Congress.

July 4th would be an excellent day. We can call it the Independent Independence Day.

give me a break
"Better known as Joe the Plumber, the Toledo, Ohio, laborer became the target of bottomless venom and scorn because he seemed like an obstacle to Obama's coronation."

After reading this first part of this assonine article, there's really no need to go any further.

Just to correct: Joe was correctly known as Joe the unlicensed plubmer and considering that he's off trying to be a field reporter in the middle east (hilarious on its own) I highly doubt if he ever did apply for and get that license. I hope he paid his taxes at least.

Joe the unlicensed Plumber and none of the other mindless twits brought forth by the Republicans never stood a chance of stopping Obama's so-called Coronation. The only decent American in the whole bunch was McCain, and he's been ripped to shreds by the rethugs on this site almost as much as Obama.

Get over it Republicans, you lost. And so shall you do the same in 2012. Trust me!

exactly Willie
Geithner's nomination at least is constitutional. Hillary's nomination clearly violates a specific prohibition in the Constitution so they have to play games and find a loophole. No one seems to really care anymore. These are the people "they" want so "they" will get them no matter what.

Just like you guys wanted Cheney and Rumsfeld and Rove and all the other hard nosed idiots Bush played with for 8 years. That's the way it goes. Hillary will serve this country much better than any of Bush's folks did in any capacity.

Republicans are no longer running the show in D.C. Deal with it.

Let's say for example
that Panetta was involved in a security breach that involved divulging some secrets to the Soviets. Would he be CIA chief? I think not. The problem is credibility. Now, we have an IRS chief WHO FREAKING CHEATED ON HIS OWN G-DAMN TAXES!!!!!

This a**hat is going to be doling out the random audits and rounding up "bad" guys (the people who made honest mistakes) and bringing the boom down on THEIR heads. What a seriously effed up world we live in.

purplegas

if you are sympathetic to the crooks, you may land a job in this administration.

It is fitting indeed.
If a republican appointee dodged his taxes as Geithner did, the democrats and the media would have gone nuts. He would have had his name withdrawn withing hours of the revelation. But now the lets "move on" mantra is back in vogue. The democrats still play the "for the little guy" card when in fact the richest people in American are democrats. They protect their own. The GOP has been for the little guy, the minorities, and as Jonah Goldberg mentioned, Joe the Plumber, more than most people seem to realize. Republicans would give a job to anyone who wants to work. Democrats want to give a handout to anyone with a hand.
Now you know!

I can't take the RINOs
When will the weak RINOs start fighting! My gosh, when will they understand there is a war of ideas and individual rights going on here.

I am reminded of a phrase that relates to liberals: "They were are war with us. We weren't at war with them."

REPUBLICANS: Liberals are at war with us. Fight back. Defend our freedoms and our God-given rights!!!!!!!!!!

purple pill
Gotta love it.

Joe made sherrif bart look like an idiot....so his character had to be assassinated. He had to be torn down...marginalized.

Just like you are doing with your post. Purpy.

No different....

Lib playbook 101.

Oh yeah...typical....we won na na nana na attitude as well.

Funny, I find zero, zilch, nada about liberals and their beliefs. The only thing I see spewing forth is hatred and marginalization.

Vote for us...cause we're not them......brilliant platform!!!!

Purplegraze
You are so full of hatred of anything conservative that you cannot even follow Jonah Goldberg's reasoning. You have bought all the leftist spin hook, line, and sinker.

The point is not about whether Joe The Plumber was a legal plumber or if he owed any back taxes. The point was he got Obama to admit he wants to "redistribute" wealth. The lesson here will dawn on you the day the Federal Govermnenttakes YOUR money away and gives it to someone who "deserves" it more (in their opinion). At that point you will scream bloody murder.

Purplegraze
I wondered aloud on these message boards whether The One's standing order to his brainless automatons to "Get in their faces" would still apply after the election was over. I guess we have our answer. This ends one way. Purplegraze, we will "deal with it" and you very, very soon.

Purplegraze
You are probably not interested in speaking truthfully with regard to Joe W's plumbing credentials. Ohio law would tell you that he was licensed under his employer and that that is perfectly and a common status of plumbers, electricians, and others.

Jonah - great article. Is there no one in the GOP willing to speak up and call this corrupt sham what it really is? If things can't be improved at some point soon, I am afraid we will be living under a one-party system. Be afraid. Be very afraid.

Royalty
You plebs can Eat Cake!

Purplegraze
So, what you're saying is that Conservatives should just shut up and watch the magic happen? Seems a little intolerant to me. Is there no room in your philosophy for an opposing view? Also, you are on what is purportedly a conservative website; so why would you expect anything different? Are you in any way interested in changing hearts and minds or are you only interested in silencing the opposition? If the latter, doesn't that strike you as being rather fascistic?

It amazes me, the vitriol against Joe the Plumber: a guy who was both created and villified by the people who created him. He's really just an average citizen, one of the people who government is supposed to serve. It is of no consequence to anyone other than Joe that he's not a licensed plumber. People in the news called him Joe the plumber because they were too lazy to call him by his real name. The issue of plumber was a made up scandal to make one of your neighbors look bad. Doesn't that strike any reasonable person as an abuse of power? Doesn't it concern anyone on the left that people in the news are attempting to destroy one of the people who live in your neighborhood to further the agenda of someone in political office?

Purplegraze 2
Now we're being told that it's conservatism that is ruining the Republican party; That no one should ever criticize anything Obama does. We're told to tolerate intolerable policies. We're supposed to just sit back and watch government grow. In 8 years the Democrat solution for any policy, not response, but policy was "Bush is bad", "anything but Bush". There was not a single pratical alternative, not one bill introduced to counter, only vitriol and "only because Bush wants it will we oppose". Where exactly was the civility and bi-partisanhip on the Democrat's part? Give me one example. I'm appalled that Republicans are rolling over for this. Every bi-partisan McCain move resulted in larger government. Where, exactly, during the last 8 years did conservatism take place? I keep being told that deregulation is the problem with the economy. Why then was and is there so much regulation? I say again: Democrats have become socialists and Republicans have become Democrats. Either way, government keeps getting bigger and that is so bad for the people. Can't anyone on the left see that at all?

Walk out
Any GOP rep or senator, if he/she is REALLY GOP, should walk out NOW! and sit the next two years out. They could spend the time in their district and maybe have time to actually LISTEN to the "man on the street" instead of lobbyists and fellow polluted pols.

Geithner (sp?) approved by the Senate
So the fox is now in charge of the hen-house. Maybe I can just "forget" to pay taxes for a few years?

I'm just about ready to freakin' QUIT - call it "Shrug". As in "Atlas Shrugged".

So What?
Democratic hypocrisy and contempt for the law is illustrative. How they’ve used their power since crushing the GOP also provides lessons to all of us. Sadly, these lessons will be lost.

Now we see the folly of appearing to the American electorate as if we value integrity, the rules of law, and being precise in our arguments and armed with facts. Such principles are wasted on Americans. They will elect Satan himself if they can keep their big TVs, American Idol, football games, and their share of surplus cheese. They are stupid. Principled conduct is over their meager intellects. Appealing to their reason, common sense, and patriotism is a waste of time and effort.

The GOP and the country deserve to get their noses rubbed in all the excrement the socialists can find. We are deserving of their contempt. How can you not have anything but loathing from people who worship you and kiss your feet after you’ve lied, cheated and stolen from them? How can you have any respect for a nation of slaves, all clamoring for food and shelter, unable to get it themselves? It’s the same disregard caretakers at mental institutions have for their patients, people with adult bodies but minds of children. After a while, even the most sensitive caretaker comes to hate his wards.

well my oh my
all of the comments seemed to so focused on me. Nothing like having a "liberal" to fire off a few against. I could care less.

Nor could I care about Joe the unlicensed plumber. HE decided to make a name for himself. It was bad enough that McCain tried to latch on to him as a measely attempt to sink Obama, Joe didn't remain a regular citizen like you say. He became the Republicans new poster boy and was hailed for supposedly nailing Obama on one of the many pathetic attempts by Republicans to take him down. People started asking him policy questions! are you kidding me!

Joe went from Plumber to author to politican - somewhere in there he had plans to produce an album - and now he's a reporter in the middle east. A job that apparetly only "he" can do let his employers tell it.

I don't hate the man. I don't hate anyone. I just call it like I see it.

As far as opposing opinions, I entertain them. Otherwise I wouldn't be on this site. How many of you post on so-called liberal sites?... OK, that's what I thought. It's easy to spew foolishness when you are amongst many. If you really wanna debate opposing sides, go to the other side and voice your opinion just like I do.

But I know, it's much more fun to hit up TH everyday, all day and come up with corny variations on Obama's name and continually declare America as ruined because a new Sheriff is in town.

Again I say, deal with it.

Moral Intimidation
"[I]n the words of South Carolina Rep. Lindsey Graham, 'These are not the times to think in small political terms.'"

As usual, all but a tiny handful of Republicans will be cowed by the Democrats' greater moral confidence. Until Republican seats are held by men who know they're right and are willing to behave that way come what may, you can expect this sort of thing.

The open question is whether the GOP has passed the point of no return, as other parties did in the early to mid-19th century.

Goldberg and Republicans
Can republicans out there please tell me why we (voting republicans) are not doing something to stop this craziness. I am reading all these articles about all that is going on and really want a couple of you Townhall columnists to give us some solid ideas on how to at least attempt to stand up, unite as a party and do something on the side of honesty, integrity and democracy.

2012
I predict that by 2012 there will not be a moderate Republican left in congress. Some few conservative Republicans will remain despite lack of support from the national party, which will go the way of the Whigs.

The Stupid Party no less...
I can understand why people call the GOP the stupid party. They are quick to take issue at their own but every time when a Democrat's head is delivered on a silver platter, the GOP in Congress manage to slip by as a non-issue.

Tom Delay had to go even though all the phony charges against him was later dropped, but William Jefferson would still be in the House today if not for the low turnout of the delayed election. Now Geithner is going to pass without much protest.

It's nice to be seen as classy by brushing aside partisan politics, but it doesn't help your cause when you are unjustly portrait as the Party of Corruption, either. And I'm not even talking about mindless partisan battles, but just standing firm on the principles of character and integrity.

They deserve to lose. I just hope that the socialists do not ruin the country before it is too late.

Purplegraze
One small point: Conservatives are not welcome on liberal sights.

Allah Be Praised!!
Hey everyone, check out the woman picked to fill in Hillary's senate seat, Congresswoman Hillibrand. I think the New York governor bumped his head and got confused, or maybe someone switched his brail card.

Check this babe out! She voted against the bailout, is against illegal immigration, is strong on defense and is very pro-gun rights.

So much for GOP quivering cowardice. Those spineless invertegrate punks. This woman puts her to shame.

If the DNC starts this trend I'll not only register as a democrat, I'll donate and campaign for them.

purplegraze
How much less could you care?

Purplegraze
I say again, Joe the plumber is a media creation. He's the Goldberg of 1984 who you're supposed to hate. Obama is Big Brother now. I ask again, aren't you the least bit concerned that government is getting larger? I ask again, don't you think it's an abuse of power for news agencies to snoop into the life of someone who simply asks a question of a candidate? Also, do you really believe that any government is capable of acting in the interests of the populace when its own interests may be at odds? Think about it. Every time government grows, freedom diminishes. You also didn't answer the question about conservative speech. If conservative speech upsets you, then why spend any time at all on a supposedly conservative website? Are you interested in changing hearts and minds or are you simply trying to silence people in their own homes?

re: purplegraze in NJ 3:46pm
I do like you and visit HUFFPO much like you visit TH. After a whil my stomach gets weak and I have to return to Drudge, TH, etc.

Regarding your comments about Joe, if I remember correctly, Obama's campaign visited HIS neighborhood, not the other way around. He didn't go out of his way to approach Obama. He has as much right to ask a question of a candidate that approaches him as you or I would have. In the following days McCain's campaign latched hold to him in light of the treatment he received from Obama's camp. I think that Goldberg asks a fair question about comparing the two.

Lindsey, please...
As a South Carolinian I am growing more and more weary of Senator Graham.

Here's the thing
Let us say, for the sake of argument, that Geithner and Obama are telling the truth. It is simply an absolutely understandable mistake that somehow the nominee for Secretary of the TREASURY didn't pay taxes for four years.

What does that say about our tax laws?

Meet the New Boss, Same as the old Boss
Bernie, you nailed it. Problem is, it does not matter, nothing ever changes. We have a bunch of wimps running the show and they are going to do whatever they want. Republicans are going to be extinct if they do not grow the a pair.

Here's My Take On It...
This is just another example of what low standards the Democratics have for their leaders.

Now with Geithner's confirmation, the Republicans now are setting their standards lower as well.

As I did a rough draft of my taxes, I will have to pay about 80-90 bucks. Let's see what happens if I don't pay them. Will there be a statute of limitations for me?

This is horendous.

RINO'S must go........
The Republicans in name only have to go. Whether they are shamed out of Washington or voted out. We cannot take anymore from these DEMONcrat sympathizers....If the candidates for the Republicans are not CHRISTIAN and have a backbone, we don't need them to run. Enough already, they are acting like girlie girls....
Shutup and stand your ground...act like men...
In CHRIST,
Danny B. Joyner
JOHN 3:16

joe the plumber
what needs to be pointed out is that joe the plumber was all for spreading the wealth when he was collecting welfare.twice.

IMF
If I was an IMF offical, I would demand that Mr Geithner return the money he was advanced to pay his taxes.

One word
REVOLUTION!!!

Republicans:
Get a backbone or get out of Washington!!

New Religion
I note that while the GOP are suing for peace, the Democrats like Pelosi are fully engaged in war against the Republicans. I wish many of those Republicans would "peace" off.

Unfortunately there are many in the GOP who are now baptised into the new religion Obama-mania. This is a personality cult the likes we haven't seen in a developed country since Stalin. This idiotic hysteria is suffered mostly by members of the press. Usually our media do not park their brains. On Obama, I think they've lost them.

Write Write;
Write letters to your reps. I've done so for all the good it does from Ill-noise. Still I write. I'll continue to write.

Bernie Goldberg was SPOT ON!

"Crazies to the Left of Me, Wimps to the Right: How One Side Lost Its Mind and the Other Lost Its Nerve"

However, I'm pretty sure he meant to title the book, "'Crazies and CROOKS' to the Left of Me, Wimps to the Right:........"

One side arguments
The Democrats never backed off disrupting the adgenda after the Republicans won. Judicial fillibusters were a big campaign issue that Bush used in the 2004 election. Did the Democrats back down after he won on this issue? The liberals not only did not back down, but they kept trying to personally destroy the more conservative nominees. I can only imagine the howls of protest if thye Republicans fillibuster Obama's nominations.

Obama can do whatever he wants
In NJ, many state employees are positively rejoicing because some think we are going to be able to "finally get the fair share of taxes from the rich". Businesses are closing or fleeing, already hard working people are looking for second and even third jobs- but many a bureaucrat sees these same people as "rich" and, therefore deserving of a cavity search to plumb for more of their money.

To be honest- I have never seen ignorance and want to this degree in any American. Our own citizens want us destroyed.

roy the broken record
yeah, we know joe the plumber and Rush were once on welfare. You are a boring union flunky, too. So what?

Sad day for the country
I don't care what this guys qualifications are- when you are heading the IRS and you are clearly a cheat we have problems. Democrats join with the Republicans and stand up and demand your senators x this guy. Dishonesty has no place from either party.

2010
The only Republicans that will be still standing after 2010 are those that resist. Just as with the soviet union, there will be no turn around until the bottom is reached.

THE IMMORAL MAJORITY
Most party members of the Democrats and Republicans are immoral, two-faced, speak with forked tongues and are liars.

Apparently all of them had their fingers crossed when they took their oaths of office.

All of the scaliwags who voted to confirm Gaithers for Treasury Secretary and Holder for Attorney General should be impeached.

THIS IS NOT THE DEMOCRACY OUR FOUNDING FATHERS HAD IN MIND FOR OUR REPUBLIC WHEN THE U.S. CONSTITUTION AND THE DECLARATION OF INDEPENDENCE WAS WRIT!

Is there an honest statesman/woman of good character and moral integrity in the United States who can be elected to a political office? OF COURSE! PROBLEM IS, THEY WANT NO PART OF THE GOVERNMENT!

AMERICA..."We The People..." have one more chance to send these professional, political parasites back to their home states in the 2010 elections.

IF WE DO NOT WE ARE SAYING TO THE WORLD WE WILL ACCEPT SOCIALISM AS OUR FORM OF GOVERNANCE.

SOCIALISM USUALLY LASTS APPROXIMATELY FIFTY YEARS BEFORE THE COUNTRY IS COMPELLED TO REVERT TO CAPITALISM. Be afraid! Be very afraid!

A TRUE STATESMAN
“A nation can survive its fools and even the ambitious, but it cannot survive treason from within. An enemy at the gates is formidable, for he is known and carries his banners openly against the city, but the traitor moves among those within the gates freely, his sly whispers rustling through the alley and heard in the very halls of government itself. He rots the soul of a nation; he works secretly and unknown in the night to undermine the pillars of the city; he infects the body politic so that it can no longer resist.”
Cicero

interesting
i believe "joe the plumber" was called a fraud because his specific complaint was that obama was going to raise his taxes. nevermind that under obama's plan, "joe the plumber" would have received a tax cut. he was widely seen as a fraud (and still is- look at his laughably antagonistic attempt to be a war correspondent for pajama media) because he wasn't paying his taxes to begin with. so what the heck should he care if his taxes get raised (which they won't) he won't pay them anyway. also, he's not a licensed plumber. and his name isn't joe.

I Support Obama
As a conservative, I totally support Obama. I just do not agree with his mission.

Goldberg is right
Geithner should withdraw immediately. And if he doesn't Obama should can him.

The elite have been given too many free passes for way too long.

manfredo: Not exactly! It was more that.

"Joe Wurzelbacher became famous because he got Barack Obama to CONFESS THAT HE LIKES TO SPREAD THE WEALTH AROUND."

And he was made out to be a fraud because, as Goldberg said, "he seemed like an obstacle to Obama's coronation."

And YES, his real name is Joe, and although he may not have had a license, he was a plumber, and yes, his taxes were paid.

Obviously, YOU missed the point. Joe Wurzelbacher was savaged, and his personal information was ILLEGALLY accessed and splattered all over the internet to throw focus off Obama's Marxist statement and agenda.

But Geithner didn't pay taxes for 2001-2002-2003-2004, and Marxist Obama give HIM a job, and you don't see an issue, or perhaps a double standard here?

Geithner and taxes

Keep the change: It's roy, what do you

sam wurzalbacher became famous because mccain and palin went around the country pretending he was their third wheel. mccain mentioned his name a few times in a presidential debate. turns out, the guy was full of crap. so the media reported, guess what? that the guy was full of crap.
as for geithner's taxes, where's the big coverup? if you want your senators to block his nomination, be my guest. write a letter. call their offices. but it's not like geithner's tax info is being hidden. it's just that, unlike sam the welfare queen, geithner is actually an intelligent, useful member of society who wishes to serve the public. kind of a big difference.

roy the broken record AGAIN
may be a union flunky but i've never been on welfare like your hypocritical republican heroes lol.i love pointing that out. --roy--

Hence the moniker broken record. Spewing talking points will guarantee only derision. If you offer intelligence, it will be met with return volley, etc. I grow so weary of useless back and forth that I look for those that can move the needle. Your point is sort of lame when a solid portion of YOUR constituency is STILL on after years of milking the treasury. Meanwhile, Rush is a billionaire for merely doing what Brokaw and Rather et al have absolutely REFUSED to evrr do. Ans I will bet that OBummer has just made Joe a career by his campaigns overreaction to what should have been a 24 hour/15 minutes of fame event. The utter insecurity of the left, coupled with their bad ideas, shown to be fraudulent, forces them to continue to make the case for conservatism albeit unintentionally. Cases in point Rush and Joe. Two guys you hate for no good reason.

When will the GOP learn
that to expect liberal Democrats to have ethical standards the same for them as for themselves is an exercise in stupidity? The Dems have proven that they will not treat Democrats and Republicans with similar standards.
**Look at the current House and what Nancy has done to the rules there, taking away the privileges of the minority.

**Compare Hillary's book advance and that which Newt took and the results of that.

**Look at Teddy, killing an intern and keeping his seat for 40 years vs. Mark Foley who propositioned an intern and losing his.

**Bill Clinton, who allowed the Chinese to get US missile technology, vs. George Bush who defended this nation.

What is needed is for the Republicans to keep observing their standards, and to force out their own when necessary. And to force the lying, cheating, swindling Democrats to stand trial in civil suits when they are not prosecuted for their felonies.

oh its not just rush and joe.you have corporate welfare and farmers welfare too.you know i have a sneaking suspicion that your whining about regular welfare while completely ignoring or even endorsing farmer and corporate welfare has less to do with the concept of givaways and more to with the complexion of the recipient.

What Jonah Goldberg
really meant to write in his last paragraph == "I thought the Democrats believed the financial implosion was caused by arrogant and greedy (Republican) men who thought the rules didn't apply to them because they were so important. I guess they didn't mean it."

Jonah left out the "Republican" part because surely the Democrats would never need these rules applied to them -- they are above all rules.

They are only efficient at pointing out how everyone else should be conducting themselves and everyone else's mistakes. Democrats/Libs have no pride. Collectively, they are WORTHLESS.

It's Still All About the Ice Cream
"It’s all about the Ice Cream."

"The most eye-opening civics lesson I ever had was while teaching third grade. The presidential election was heating up and some of the children showed an interest. I decided we would have an election for a class president. We would choose our nominees. They would make a campaign speech and the class would vote.
To simplify the process, candidates were nominated by other class members. We discussed what kinds of characteristics these students should have. We got many nominations and from those, Jamie and Olivia were picked to run for the top spot.
The class had done a great job in their selections. Both candidates were good kids. I thought Jamie might have an advantage because he got lots of parental support. I had never seen Olivia’s mother. The day arrived when they were to make their speeches Jamie went first. He had specific ideas about how to make our class a better place. He ended by promising to do his very best. Every one applauded. He sat down and Olivia came to the podium. Her speech was concise. She said, "If you will vote for me, I will give you ice cream.” She sat down. The class went wild. “Yes! Yes! We want ice cream.”
She surely would say more. She did not have to. A discussion followed. How did she plan to pay for the ice cream? She wasn’t sure. Would her parents buy it or would the class pay for it. She didn’t know. The class really didn't care. All they were thinking about was ice cream. Jamie was forgotten. Olivia won by a land slide.
Every time Barack Obama opens his mouth he offers ice cream, and fifty two percent of America reacts like nine year olds. They want ice cream. The other forty eight percent know they're going to have to feed the cow."

RE: Joe the Plumber -- Reporter
The difference between Plumber and Geithner is the former is an idiot and the latter is a genius -- Plumber could legitimately argue ignorance. Not so for Geithner -- the man by all accounts is brilliant. Why he thought he did not have to pay taxes is probably another symptom of our very corrupt tax system. The little people pay and the elite play.

Anyone know what Joe is doing these days -- don't think the Reporter gig turned out so well.

http://www.theweek.com/article/index/89856/3/Video_Barack_O bama_meets_Joe_the_Plumber_AP_via_YouTube

This video hit the airways multiple times before either Obama or McCain ever mentioned Wurzelbacher's name.

Exactly why would any reasonble, rational, thinking person say Wurzelbacher is full of crap?

If anything, what kept Joe the plumber in the headlines longer was the fact that there were no fewer that EIGHTEEN ILLEGAL COMPUTER SEARCHES, by democrats, into Joe's personal and private information, and then splattered all over the internet.

What is wrong with you? Who said anything about a "coverup" regardingn Geither's UNPAID TAXES?

The issue is that Geither didn't pay his taxes (not very patriotic, according to Bonehead Biden) yet he's supposed to be in charge of the Treasury.

So, you're saying that it's a big, huge issue that Joe didn't pay his tax, but no big deal that Geither didn't pay his.

Sorry, you make no sense what-so-ever, and there is NO LOGIC and your posts.

Let me guess? You're a liberal, right?

How this could have been prevented:
Had we voted on QUALFIICATONS, and not 'religion' we would not be in this pickle. We'd have a president that the DNC did not want to run against, as Howard Dean has said that the Last PERSON they wanted to run agains twas Romney. But, Bigots own the party right now. One of the biggest recipients of mohair subsidies is none other than Sam "nice toupee" Donaldson. Committed leftist "journalist" for ABC. All subsidies are wrong and your side has never lifted a finger to end it, so what in the hell is that red herring doing here?

Joe the Plumber, created by the Obama sleaze machine, illegally digging up dirt on him with government computers in violation of privacy rights-you know- the ones you libs always crow about, just might end up being a better "journalist" than Sam, Tom and Dan. After all, they have set the bar so low, that Rush made millions just by cleaning up their messy ommissions.

Dear Manfredo
You say: "it's just that, unlike sam the welfare queen, geithner is actually an intelligent, useful member of society who wishes to serve the public. kind of a big difference." For your reading pleasure, I recommend George Orwell's "Animal Farm." It's a guick read. It may be a little tricky, it is an allegory. In your quote above, you have basically paraphrased a famous quote from the book. "All animals are equal, but some animals are more equal."

In the book, those who are "more equal" need to be spared from the rules that apply to the "less equal" because they cannot be troubled with niggling details that keep them from running the farm. I don't want to give away too much of the story. But, thinking people thank you for highlighting the current administration's "leadership style."

Once again
Jonah thanks again for saying what's been on many minds watching this whole fiasco go by. I expect this from Democrats. But, as I have a distaste for independent voters I'm seriously about to become one, just as a matter of duty. Republicans officially stink more than ever...nightmare.

What a joke
I'm as anti-unity as the separation of powers. Quit with the phony nice-nice and start fighting this guy already!

I guess we forgot...
“I will not cede more power to the state. I will not willingly cede more power to anyone, not to the state, not to General Motors, not to the CIO. I will hoard my power like a miser, resisting every effort to drain it away from me. I will then use my power, as I see fit. I mean to live my life an obedient man, but obedient to God, subservient to the wisdom of my ancestors; never to the authority of political truths arrived at yesterday at the voting booth. That is a program of sorts, is it not? It is certainly program enough to keep conservatives busy, and Liberals at bay. And the nation free.”

—William F. Buckley Jr.

...or maybe we've given up on this one? I say fight...like McCain said but should have done. He's not my One.

profblog
very clever. entirely inapt. but very clever. i have read animal farm. it is a very salient critique of stalinism. not an argument against merit.
geithner and sam the welfare queen are being subjected to the same laws. both failed to pay taxes. both went back and paid back taxes that were owed. geithner's confirmation is a political question. if you believe that his nonpayment of taxes merit a blockage of his confirmation, again, write a letter to your senators. send them an email.

Sick of Joe the Plumber Bashing
Some jerk in this thread is bashing Joe the Plumber because he is "unlicensed" in Ohio. Well, I personally hold a plumbing, hydronics, HVAC, and refrigeration license in the State of Ohio. Licensing in Ohio is really pro-forma. Most license holders were grand-fathered. I tested for my licences (I accidentally let my grandfathered licenses lapse - stupid continuning education requirements). Ohio licenses are relatively new (12-15 years or so old).

They are really no big deal. Really just a fee grab by the State of Ohio in an attempt to circumvent home-rule.

Normally, only one or two people in a company are license holders (due to fees and continuing education requirements and other costs).

If Joe the Plumber works as an employee (and not the owner), it would be highly unlikely that he would be the license holder. It is too expensive to have employees licensed and have them all jump through all the OCILB paperwork garbage.

Knowing the licensing requirements of Ohio's OCILB Board, it is extremely disengenuous and ignorant to denegrate him for for not being his companies license holder.

You only need to work in the trade for 5 years to be eligible to take the test (and it is no big deal).

Not being the company license holder does not mean you are not a plumber in Ohio.

Of course, why would facts get in the way of a liberal bashing a conservative?

Lefties
Once again, you miss the point. There should be no discussion of Joe the Plumber. Don't you get it? If politicians and reporters can dig into his life because he asks a question then they can dig into your life if you say or do something that makes someone in power perceive that they look bad. That is an abuse of power. People should've been arrested for that.
It should've happened this way: a guy asks a question, Obama answers, McCain uses the question and answer for his campaign, Obama counters. That's it. It should've stopped right there. Instead, some beuraucrat in Ohio digs into his past and a bunch of reporters feed off of the information like hyenas and all of a sudden people are comparing Joe the Plumber (some dude who's just a citizen of the United States) and Barak Obama (some dude who's running for President of the United States). What I'm saying is you shouldn't know anything about this guy and yet you are using personal information to fight a guy who has no real power, unlike the ones you are defending. Aren't you a little concerned about the right to privacy and the freedom lost from this particular example? Are you so blinded by your politics that you can't see beyond your love of Barak Obama? Will you maintain this blindness should more freedom go by the wayside?

i think you miss the point. a guy who rails against the welfare state when he himself has had multiple stints on the dole is kind of hypocritical.but thats the main problem i have with conservatives.welfare for poor people of color is bad. they are lazy and shiftless.welfare for farmers and corporations and joe the plumber-oh thats ok.i think you'd get more traction for your argument if you applied the same standards for everyone.

Hypocrisy
Did I miss something? Did Republicans unite against Geithner's nomination? Did the invoke the filibuster to stop this tax cheat from becoming the next chief tax collector?

No, they didn't. This is a perfect example of how the 2 parties collude in corruption, and this essay is a perfect example of how the accomplice press attacks one side while ignoring the same behavior from the other.

The aristocrats in both parties and the accomplice press of each party win. We lose.

Dear Manfredo
The beauty of an allegory is that it often becomes applicable to more than just the immediate connection than the author intended. Jonathan Swift's "Modest Proposal," while grounded in the political times of England's subjugation of Ireland, has been cited many times and applied to similar abuses by political authority. While we recoil in horror at the thought of harvesting infants for the rich and powerful to feed on at banquets, the rich and powerful nevertheless routinely feed on the poor by abusing their power and public trust.
You assert that my comparison of Joe and Geithner to the allegory in "Animal Farm" is not apt, due in part to the fact that "Animal Farm" is a critique of Stalinism. A quick study of abusive governments, left and right, yields the conclusion that a double standard is usually applied to the common man while the powerful get free passes, hence the Orwellian phrase "some are more equal than others," is apropos. Common sense informs us that good leaders must lead by example. Hence, the vetting process is useful. Education and experience notwithstanding, immorality in leadership will always feed on the common people. Joe the plumber was never and is not being vetted for leadership in a cabinet level governmental position. Geithner is. So, your claim, "unlike sam the welfare queen, geithner is actually an intelligent, useful member of society who wishes to serve the public. kind of a big difference." is an apt comparison to "Animal Farm." Think of Joe as "Boxer," and Geithner as "Squealer." I'm actually in favor of a double standard for folks like Geithner. If he wishes to "serve the public," as you suggest, the standard should be higher than Joe the Plumber. There is little comparison between the two. You posted in the marketplace of ideas, I'm responding to your ideas. Thanks for your suggestion to email my congressman.

Congratulations on a beautiful example of exposition. Manfredo, though not so classy nor so anxious to inform, nevertheless has posted quite enough to make his own standards and agenda clear.

I wonder if these people fool themselves? They certainly deceive no fairminded, thinking person of ethics. They call themselves progessives, and doubtless they have progessed beyond the old conservative values to a philosophical country i hope i never have to live in.

Dear Pistol
I've noticed your posts many times, along with Audi and others. It's a pleasure to have this sanctuary where we do have a marketplace of ideas. I usually learn something useful from many, and enjoy the give and take, ad hominems aside.
I especially like to use Walter Williams' articles for some of my classes to critique. His writing is clear, logic sound, and message timeless. I'm actually teaching in Japan right now and it's only 7:38 pm on Saturday, so I'm not really posting at 2:23 am.
All the best to you.

A message must be sent . . .
to BOTH political parties. Careful planning would have to be done in order to prevent infiltrators from spoiling the "well laid plans". It It would take approximately 500 close-knit individuals (working in teams) to track the whereabouts and travel habits of those selected and could take years. When one-half of the "exclusive club" met their "fate", (a good talking to) perhaps the rest of the "exclusive club" would get the message. Let's remember that even in medieval times, the "subjects" (serfs and slaves) OUTNUMBERED the "royalty". Friends, it is time to "flush the toilet" of communists, socialists and their fellow travelers MSM et al. Take back our country. NOTE: We have a "representative republic" NOT a "democracy".

As a lowly, untenured, senior lecturer, I'm never turned loose with Lit. classes, only the composition classes that teach critique, research, and documentation while avoiding plagarism. It's OK though. Logical fallacies, vocabulary, coherent sentences and defendable claims with credible sources is good bread, and what many freshmen need.
But, in Japan, just being able to carry on a conversation in English is a laudable accomplishment for many students, and a nice break for me. They are wild about Obama over here though. "Resistance is futile," The Borg.

Will the Dew fall from this Rose?
I wonder after a brief discussion with my mother over Michelle Obama's and the First Kids' wardrobe, who really cared about his Inaugural Address unless they were Black. Trust me, I mean no offense.
Many were getting the actual text online to print and even poster as being of the same high caliber as MLK's "I Have A Dream," speech. I recognize this to be one of the most important moments of American history. It truly is.
I don't care what color Obama is. I wasn't alive during the Civil Rights movement and I'm proud of my ancestral heritage. There are talented black people out there that go under this umbrella of "The Oppressed,"
Obama can do pretty much whatever he wants, smiling, and the majority are going to follow along. We saw it with B Clinton.
Only here do I here questions about his Cabinet selections.
HE HAS A FREE PASS.
Do you honestly think B WaWa or Oprah are going to be upset with criminals @ the Treasury? What about apathy in government? No way.
They are all about govertainment.

The speech was flat and pointed. It was Democratic and Elitist. He is no Washington or Lincoln. Much more Clinton, JFK, James K. Polk.
People paid more attention to wardrobe selections than to the actual speech. This is typical and why values that do not represent most Americans make their way to the White House.
Most people only find out what the TV wants them to know or what they find on the web.

Either Way, He's Wrong for the Job
If Geithner cheated on his taxes, he's wrong for the job as head of the IRS.

If Geithner is incapable of figuring out his tax forms, he's wrong for the job as head of the IRS.

Seems pretty simple to me.

RICK WARREN: MAN of NO FAITH
During the inauguration pastor Rick Warren announced that Obama is a son of an African-American immigrant. The whole point is that Obama Sr. was never an immigrant in this country, he was here on a student visa and never even had a green card. The definition of the Natural born citizen, is one born in the country to parents (both) that are citizens of the country. For this reason alone Obama was never legitimate for presidency. Additionally there is no corroborating evidence that Obama was really born in Hawaii and Obama has reportedly spent over 800,000 to keep sealed his original birth certificate that costs $12 to obtain. Would any honest man do that?
I personally drove to Rick Warren's Saddleback church in Lake Forest CA and related to a pastor on duty and 3 assistants that I have important information about Obama's illegitimacy for presidency and asked for a meeting with Rick Warren before the inauguration. I never heard from him back. How can one calling himself a man of faith promote this fraud called Obama. I need a network of volunteers to meet with pastors, ministers, rabbis, priests- real men of faith of any denomination to build our numbers in the community of believers all over this great nation, to end the travesty of justice called Obama. A good reason to not keep a fox in the home is: they like to "hose" a lot of things. I fear that the American people, at least some of us, are getting the feeling we are getting the message downwind. As for Mr. O's appointments, hell, a few more feral animals won't matter.
But, some people like the ability to find their way to the White House without a map.

I find it ironic and hypocritical that you scream about any welfare that Joe the Plumber has received, along with your leftist friends, and yet you crucify conservatives when we even so much as point a finger at the left's cherished entitlement programs.

Lolo,
Sadly, many of the Congressional Repubs are saying Geithner is the only man for the job. Moral and ethical failure in thought and action is rampant in DC.

Swindlers can win
This administration and the DNC are proof positive.
It galls me how people like my own mother can be so transfixed with govertainment that they really do not care whether

An Unethical Administration
We all know B.hussein has a troubled ,if not criminal past. We also know the Clintons have been up to their necks in crime for years. In Arkansas and Washington.

The two have joined forces to reshape the country. What better way to do that than to have an administration that mirrors their own behavior?

Isn't it a fact that the only squeaky clean appointee is Gates? Of course he would be clean, being a Bush Man. The Democrats would not have let him be in Bush's Cabinet had he not been above reproach.

We are in for some rough sailing with this legally-challenged team. Do not be surprised at anything the might do.

my two cents
The man our supreme leader has designated to be Secretary of the Treasury can't even handle his OWN finances to the extent that he didn't pay his S.S. or Medicare taxes for three straight years.

This is a joke, right?

The fact is that BHO wants all of us to contribute, except for those, who will get tax welfare checks on top of their EITC. We are all supposed to pony up to the tax bar and pay for an ever-expanding welfare class.

All of this brings me back to Turbo Tax Tim, the "genius" that is "too big to fail" and "the only guy that can solve our financial mess." If Tim-the-Tax-Cheat is "patriotic" enough to be the next Tresury Secretary, then we can all just sit back and make "honest mistakes" while waving the Stars and Stripes... or, the single red star flag.

Fred was hardcore Republican and favored Thomas Dewey for President. If it weren't for the fact these two needed to eat, sleep, and work, they would have argued politics all day long. Grandpa incessantly cussed the Republicans for being Pro-Big Business and always trying to screw over the Farmers and the little guy. Fred on the other hand hated FDR and the Democrats, FDR especially and referred to him as that "Crippled Socialist S.O.B in the White house"!

So Grandpa admired FDR,because he paid (Farmer welfare)farmers not to farm.Grandpa had a conservative streak though, he who had performed back breaking work most of his life, but couldn't understand why the Government (His Democratic Party) paid (welfare) and supported people who didn't work. Fred on the other hand Fred worked just as hard, accepted no Government Farmer Welfare, survived and did well. Grandpa a kind and decent man died not knowing or if he did never never admitted it, that it was business big and small that provided all the tools including the marketing of his Farm products.

So, Manfredo and Roy, before you accuse Republicans of creating Farmer Welfare,(you two drink milk? Ever heard of Dairy supports?) think again, and if you unless you are self employed think about where you'd be if it weren't for business big and small.

Been There,Done That,Got The T-Shirt
If it wasn't so dangerous,it would be comical to read these young whippersnappers who are still wet behind the ears, post their naive, revisionist history.

They get something stuck in their craw and don't know much about it,so they run look up something to verify what they believe to be the truth. Truth is in the eye of the beholder...and I beholdin' mine.

Of course, they don't realize most of the internet history and newer history books have a liberal slant ,nowadays. It is like that for a reason and the young mush-brained folks are that reason.

They would do better to listen to some seasoned citizens who have been there and lived through it,but for some unearthly reason, they think they know more than we do!!!

the 2 happiest men
This appointment should make two men really happy, Wesley Snipes, and his lawyer. Think about the potential appeals.

Welcome Back, Carter

You are so right. I often read the young 'uns writings concerning how fantastic Jimmy Carter managed the economy. Unfortunately, these idiots were not alive to see double-digit unemployment and inflation and lines wrapped around the block on which the gas station was located.

If they had been alive, the would know the truth.

Carter's Administration was more like:
Been there. Done that. Didn't have enough money for the T-shirt.

GOOSE AND GANDER
FAMOUS PHILOSOPHY OF THE LEFT:

HYPOCRITES AND THIEVES NEVER SEE THE WRONG IN THIER ACTIONS.

I SUGGEST WE ALL MARCH DOWN TO TREASURY AND STAGE A TAX AMNEST RALLY FOR ALL OF OBAMAS APPOINTMENTS:

WHAT'S GOOD FOR THE GOOSE IS GOOD FOR THE GANDER!

Jimmah is an object of ridicule in Ga. Would you believe some Democrats STILL think he was a GOOD governor and president. he has been an even worse ex-president.

Ignorant IS As Ignorant DOES

I believe that some Dumbocrats still think that he was a good governor and president. What can we say? They are just stuck on stupid.

I know all about ignorance down here. The idiots still believe that Bush used explosives to breach the levees and others are convinced that the Chinese are going to travel up the Mississippi River and take over New Orleans, if we default on our loans.

...worse as ex-President. Yep. 'Nuff said.

Roy
There is a big difference in family farms and big corporate farms and they shouldn't be treated the same. Personally, I am considering going into business with a bumper sticker:

Davis, Alinsky, and Ayers Won

What do you think about it????? (Driving thru Portland would probably not be safe.)

eor - A Safety Suggestion
"Personally, I am considering going into business with a bumper sticker:

eor - If you want safety (or, at least, constitutional protection), just slap your "Davis, Alinsky, and Ayers Won" bumper sticker on the back of your bicycle and ride thru Portland naked.

The Shortest Poem: Adam Had 'Em (Fleas)

Jonah:This will be the shortest response to a column I have ever written on this esteemed site: "Different rules for different people ".

Back to the original subject Mr G.
I've Emailed both Senators relative to this nomination and I'll CALL Monday.. I find it unbelievable that no one is concerned about his
non-payment of taxes.. I did make an honest error in calculating the tax payable on my SS
earnings last year.. The *revenoors* didn't seem to think it was of no consequence.*other* I'm sure I'll be audited this year.. Also Rowly, et al. please be sure to differentiate between me and the *LeftHanded Roy* CHEERS

Go Jonah
Its also a pass for the "indefensible" man...
because he is the indispensable man.

At this rate the guy could have planned a bank heist and they'd give him a pass, "It wasn't intentional and was very complicated." It was compicated hiring an illegal too. But its fraud when he signed the papers. What's a CEO and CFO have to do? Sign off on everything.

Give that man a cigar, and then have him sign off...on the money stupid. After all, "its the economy, stupid!"

Jackpine Savage, a sometime contributor to these threads, has a good one that, as soon as I come up with the extra cash, am going to have made and distributed.

Obama/Biden
Like Jesus
only pro-abortion

Parking in Portland, Maine won't be safe either, but it will be worth it.

RIGHT ON JONAH!
Sorry for the cliche, it is just so fitting! Only JG can articulate so simply and clearly the hypocrasy of the democrats and the infuriating weakness, cowardness, and shameful behavior of the so called Republicans. Where are our CONSERVATIVE VOICES?!!!!! Keep writing, talking, communicating Jonah you seem to be all we have got right now.

Geithner given a license to steal MORE!
Let's see. You put Al Capone as Secretary of the Treasury, Willie Sutton to head up the FDIC, and Hank Paulson can stay on as the top aide because he has already stolen $750 BILLION right in front of our eyes and gotten away with it. Our only hope is a military coup and show trials of all of these crooks.

actually, low, low one
i was referring to sam's status as a welfare queen to point out HIS hypocrisy. i am not at all outraged by sam's reliance on the welfare state. i am merely amused by it.
what of YOUR defense of sam's dole? why are YOU not outraged by his government handouts?

and big skyer
i don't recall weighing in on farm subsidies on this thread. perhaps you have me confused with someone else.

Ford
Ford tells Hussein O "No thanks."

That's some great news!

Manfredo = 0 credibility
Al Franken, Charlie Rangel. and Timothy Geithner are tax cheats who will be involved in formulating our tax policy.

Joe the Plumber is a private citizen who exercised his free speech rights when asked a question. Unless he is vying for a position of public trust, digging into his private life using government resources is right out of the old East German Stasi handbook. The only fair game is the content and validity of his question. Sadly, we have been here before on a much bigger scale with the 900 FBI files where nobody took responsibility for hiring the White House Security director who took the fall. In addition, Obama twice benefited from leaks of his Campaign opponents sealed divorce records. All of this while we are supposed to cheer on the liberals when they want to sue Telcom companies for helping the government snoop on Terrorists. Give me a break!

thumper
if any laws were broken in the disclosure of sam the welfare queen's personal information, people should be prosecuted. i agree with that. will you agree, though, that it would be hypocritical to criticize other welfare recipients while giving sam a free pass?

thumper
"Obama twice benefited from leaks of his Campaign opponents sealed divorce records"

SO!!!!

Did Obama unseal them?
