Will the Dems' health care Christmas Present to America be an improvement or detriment to our health care system?

Well, the most disgusting, craven, shameless political ad of the election season has just come out in time for Christmas - and, no, it's not from Mike Huckabee. It's from Hillary Clinton.

Huckabee's ad has gotten all of the attention because of its alleged "floating cross" masquerading as a bookshelf (or vice versa) and its overall 700 Club Christmas Special feel. But you know what? There's no public policy involved in his ad. Sure, there's a dose of Christian identity politics - more than a dose according to some - but no one following the race is particularly stunned to find out that Mike Huckabee is a committed Christian. His ads say he's a "Christian leader" and that his faith "defines" him.

I'm not thrilled by the explosion of Christian piety in Republican politics, particularly with Huckabee's version of it, but nobody's fooled by it either.

Now look at Clinton's ad. Gussied up a bit like Martha Stewart, a chipper Hillary sits on her couch, arranging all of her Christmas presents to put under the tree. "Carol of the Bells" is playing on a harpsichord in the background. She's trying to find the right cards to put on the right packages. One is labeled "Universal Health Care," another is "Alternative Energy," another is "Middle Class Tax Breaks." And then the supposedly hilarious kicker. Wringing her hands and furrowing her brow with maternal angst, she exclaims, "Where did I put universal pre-K?"

And then, scanning the giant pile of presents - all for you, the voter, of course - a warm smile comes over her face and she says, "Ah, there it is!" She tucks the card under the ribbon, the music fades away, and the screen turns oddly black with a ghostly and gothic "Happy Holidays" message. (In fact, there's something about the harpsichord music that gives the whole thing a Vincent Price spookiness.)

Of course, pandering is nothing new in American politics. "If there had been any formidable body of cannibals in the country," H.L. Mencken complained of Harry Truman's 1948 presidential campaign, "he would have promised to provide them with free missionaries fattened at the taxpayers' expense."

But if you take Hillary's ad remotely as seriously as many are taking Huckabee's, you're left with a disturbing glimpse of not just Hillary's politics but her vision of government. Her programs, which would cost billions and billions of dollars by even the most generous accounting, are simply "gifts" for the American people. No sacrifice, no cost, no strings attached at all - save the price of your vote.

The implication is that the only thing standing between you and Hillary's trinkets is a president who doesn't want you to have 'em. This is monarchical thinking; good ruler throws loaves of bread to the peons and asks for nothing but love in return.

The truth, as Clinton knows very well, is that it's not so easy. To govern is to choose. "Give" the people X and it will come at the expense of Y. Indeed, until recently, Clinton's whole schtick has been to emphasize that change is hard work, requiring sacrifice and compromise. She'd lecture Iowa audiences that real change comes from fighting for it. Now that she's on the ropes, it's all yours for the asking.

It's a profound commentary on the state of our political culture that Huckabee's ad is the controversial one. Huckabee promises nothing, Hillary everything.

The contrast between the Candidate of God and the Candidate of Goodies should remind everyone of P.J. O'Rourke's timeless book "Parliament of Whores."

"I have only one firm belief about the American political system, and that is this: God is a Republican and Santa Claus is a Democrat," wrote the indispensable O'Rourke.

"God" he explained, is "a stern fellow, patriarchal rather than paternal and a great believer in rules and regulations. He holds men strictly accountable for their actions. He has little apparent concern for the material well being of the disadvantaged. ... God is unsentimental. It is very hard to get into God's heavenly country club."

P.J. continues: "Santa Claus is another matter. ... He's nonthreatening. He's always cheerful. And he loves animals. He may know who's been naughty and who's been nice, but he never does anything about it. He gives everyone everything they want without the thought of a quid pro quo."

"Santa Claus is preferable to God in every way but one," O'Rourke concluded. "There is no such thing as Santa Claus."

P.J.'s right. But you won't be hearing that from Hillary this holiday season.

The Politics of Gimmee
In thinking about Hillary and her attempt to bribe us with money extorted from the unwilling, I thought of Mama when we were growing up, particularly when Daddy was racing and she was trying to make a home on his share of the gate if he made it to the podium. In later years I discovered that we frequently did not have enough to eat, or the right things to eat; but when we were kids what you had was what you had. Our bedrooms (3 girls in one, 2 in the other) were where we slept, and we had one closet for all our clothes, which we were told firmly belonged to Mama and Daddy, and what we would own is what we would buy.

But I also remember Mama saying she would stick her head in the oven and turn on the gas before she would take charity from anybody, and Daddy saying that we were not poor, we were broke, because broke was for now but poor was forever.

And I remember my sisters and me scraping together a couple of dollars (we got 25 cents a week for allowance when they had it) to buy things for our parents Christmas stockings because they never got anything and pretended they didnt care.

Seeing Hillarys commercial is going to be particularly offensive to the men and women of quiet desperation who are silently going without this Christmas so the kids will not know how bad things are. Mama Long (my sainted Southern Granny) would say of Hillary that you could always tell shack trash wherever you met it. Dorothy Parker put it more elegantly. *A goosegirl in ermine is a goosegirl still, and geese will gabble everywhere she goes.*

Think Jimmy Carter.

the missus clinton christmas promises
now that bubba maintains his missus is a world class genius it seems even more credible that she looks at the electorate as akin to drooling morons who will require her motherly care to attend to all our needs. But after we are taxes to pay for all her giveaways what will be left for us to maintain our lives. If she is such a genius how can the missus clinton not understand the workings of capitolism. What is it about getting an education and supporting your family that is not more beneficial and preferentail to society than the myriad of giveaways she plans to make more reliant on the govt. Is she and the dim party so desparate that having lost the war of ideass they resort to continuing the fight over making a country so reliant on handouts that the only vision they know is a n ation living off of govt wlefare, that is after all our resources havce been taxed away for the govt to best decided how all the money should be spent. And still the dims insist the missus clinton can be trusted to run america and keep us prosperous

Good column Jonah but what
you are advocating is basically the advantages of capitalism over communism.

The lefties will never buy that.

Didn’t we WIN the Cold War?
Democrats will give us “universal [insert Unconstitutional entitlement program here]” as a gift - if you believe her Christmas Ad. Republicans talk about Christ at Christmas time and get lambasted by the media.

What the hell happened to this country? When did the Marxists take over? Didn’t we WIN the Cold War?

Can some one please call Marty McFly and the Doc?

They need to go back in time and kick FDR’s @$$.

If ever ....
If ever there were reasons NOT to vote for Hilliary, this Ad provides so many! Voting in 2008 will be a no-brainer for me in 2008; with one hand on the voting machine and one protecting my billfold!

Have A Merry!!!

If I had little ones...
just the thought of Universal K would be the good ole government telling me WHEN my little ones would go to school - a bit too early in my eyes. May the voters be VERY wise!!

Sorry Hillary
But what I really want for Christmas is a 2008 KTM Duke III. Barring that, I'll settle for the new BMW F800GS. Do you have either of those in your bag?

Hillary's Holiday Hogwash?
Guess Jonah Goldberg does not like Hillary.

>"the most disgusting, craven, shameless

Your GOP-ness & blind partisanship defines your thinking. HE USED Christmas/religion blatantly. ALLEGED? Obvious & intentional.. I want a policy wonk, not a preacher in the whitehouse.

>"Universal Health Care," "Alternative
>Energy," "Middle Class Tax Breaks," "Where did
>I put universal pre-K?"

How evil of her. Need more war, tax breaks for rich & screw the kids, that's the GOP WAY BABY! We get it, YOU HATE. You hate Dems & Liberals.

>"Her programs, which would cost billions and
>billions of dollars by even the most generous

Bush's war cost TRILLIONS & thousands of lives! Gee isn’t that great.

>"Huckabee promises nothing, Hillary everything."

Great 48 hours after NIE report on Iran Nuke program (or lack there of), Huckabee was clueless. We had 7 yrs of President clueless, not BIG on details but big on messianic God messages in his head.

>"Parliament of Wh***es."

Nice, like no bid contracts & war profiteering? Total lack of control, responsibility or accountability of Bush & the War in Iraq, yea, wh***s is a good word.

Vote Dem in '08 stop the madness.

PS helping poor is not Communisms, you Fascist.

How wonderful
I enjoyed the article and then all the comments because everyone of them had something intelligent to say and there was no sniping. I only wish I had time to sit and read all the articles and comments every day. So many times though there is so much vitrol in the comments it is discouraging to read them.
I happened to catch the commercial yesterday as I walked by the TV and my first thought was "Uk". To me it just doesn't work for her to put on this cheerful friendly face as we know that is not who she really is. She can talk about change all she wants but I doubt she personally will change at all and the thought of old Bill being there with her doesn't make me happy either. Hopefully by him now being so much part of her campaign people will see just how the presidency will be if she wins and decide they don't want that any more.

Oops
I either missed the comment by jetpilot or it slipped in as I was writing mine.

Great post...
It surprises me a little that someone as politically calculating as Hillary would do an ad that shows her for the socialist she really is. It should be illegal to use the taxes raised on one segment of the population to buy the votes of another segment.

Fascist
jetpilot, let me get this right, you call Johah Goldberg a Fascist. Right! Do you actually know what or who a Fascist is, or rather was? A Fascist was a follower of Benito Mussolini from about 1919 to 1945. The Fascist's enemy from the early days were the Communist in Italy and Russia. Because of that, the Communist's referred to anyone against them as Fascist's. This has continued up to the present with the exception that the Dim liberals in the U.S. and elsewhere have continued to use the term Fascist for anyone Conservative, Christian, and to the right of them. To refer to anyone today as a Fascist is to be totally ignorant. I certainly hope you were never a "jetpilot" for any military or commercial airline.

It's been awhile since you opined your idiocy. You know, today is the heaviest travel day of the year. You should partake and fly away into the sunset, Jerk ......

Jetpilot--You're Kidding, Right?
Somehow you don't come across like a jet pilot. Could it be a Walter Mitty fantasy you have?

The problem is, the morons who vote for Hillary are on the receiving end of government giveaways. The morons will love this ad and will fall for it hook, line and sinker.

jet pilot
the landing strip outside of walmart has been cleared for you to land your coin powered aircraft. But if it will keep you in flight please advise where I can ship you additional quarters to fuel your jet

She is a Socialist, jetpilot
No matter what you type here will not change the facts. Conservatives don't hate the poor, you libs and your leftist programs of "stay at home, have children, and we'll take care of all your problems!" are what caused this culture.

As the tide rose in N.O. your Dimocruds were far away (high & dry)and safe while the entitlement crowd waited for rescue.

The Klintoons had 8 years and did nothing regarding poverty, alternative fuels,or education(midnight B'ball?). Subsidize your own social programs.

Gov't should only be concerned with infrastructure and military. We were far better educated before the Dept.of Education came along and ruined it. Now she wants to start indoctrination(pre-K)even earlier.

Capitalism creates wealth, wealth creates jobs, jobs destroy poverty. "Just say not to Big Govenment!" Oh, by the way "KEEP YOUR FILTHY HANDS OUT OF MY POCKETS!"

Hillary's Hidden Message in her
Christmas Card Ad. Those candy canes. When positioned just right they form a letter "J" for Jesus.

Jetpilot:
“PS helping poor is not Communisms, you Fascist.”

Nothing identifies an ignorant liberal faster than throwing the word ‘fascist’ around. I haven’t met a lib yet who understands what it means; they just know that they heard it somewhere and it sounds good.

If Hillary truly wanted to “help the poor” she would use her famously large brain to help them do what others have done to rise above poverty: get an education, learn a skill, stay out of trouble, don’t get married or have children until you’re mature enough to do so without government assistance, be a good parent, be a good employee, save for retirement, etc. The reward for doing all or most of the right things is that you’re able to be self-supporting, perhaps even well-off. The cost of not doing the right things is that you have a less comfortable life, and that’s how it should be because otherwise there is no incentive for people to do the right things. Conservatives are all for helping the TRULY disadvantaged – people who are too physically or mentally disabled to sufficiently care for themselves. But rewarding the wrong behavior by handing out goodies that haven’t been earned only encourages more of the same. We have a phrase to describe it – it’s called The Liberal Way.

Hillary’s ad promised UNIVERSAL health care, alternative energy, MIDDLE CLASS tax breaks and UNIVERSAL pre-K. That’s more than helping the ‘poor.’ That’s socialism.

Just in..Hillary admits the candy cane's
were indeed intentional. The "J" was for Jerry Springer though and NOT for Jesus as previously thought.

Use the ad against her !!!!
Conservatives should that that TV ad as is, then add a scene when the bill comes -- i.e. have "taxpayer" open an envelope then look at how much his taxes will be after SANTA Billary's Gifts come due.....

For JD's son
Haven't yet figured on the handle "jetpilot", but I'll throw in a really boring, prosaic opinion on it.

Could it just be that he came up with that handle after sniffing much (as in enough to give a very permanent buzz) model-airplane glue?

Addendum for JD's son
Of course, I modelled my opinion after a "convert-letter-to-numbers-to-get-message" joke from grade 9 math.

Q: What did the little moron think he was when he pulled the bedsheet over his head?
A: An undercover agent.

el polaco: EXCELLENT IDEA!
Let's hope that occurs to someone in charge of ads for the RNC or for one of the campaigns!

the repubs need only put dollar figures to all of the missus clinon's proposals. Joe six pack might not comprehend the vast billions the missus clinton will cost the country. But good old joe can understand what will it will cost his paycheck. When the party boy/girl crowd learns they must give up the jet skis and the matching shoes and dresses they will be less likely to support the dims. People who earn understand the value of hard work but they cannot comprehend this clinton notion they must sacrifice so that the missus clinton can continue to reward all the losers the dims continue to enable

Ron about tax reform
Hellery Goddam Clinton won't consider giving us the one thing that would be good for all of us: Total Tax Reform - repealing all existing taxes and replacing them with a single, fair, proper tax - ONE TAX AND DONE - that would make Theresa Heinz Kerry pay tax on the tax-exempt $5 million she gets from Heinz Foods every year, instead of making us pay her share of taxes.

Think about it Liberals
A government that has the power to give you everything, has the power to take EVERYTHING away!!

That is way too much power!!

Hillary
At least Hillary is providing for the American people. The Fast spending republicans have robbed from the poor, tax breaks for the rich, told lies and people died, and we are facing a recession from financial mismanagement. costing not billions but TRILLIONS. there will be taxes all right to clean up this mess.

chicaree: typical ignorant liberal
“At least Hillary is providing for the American people.”

Hillary is not “providing” anything. The money she wants to buy votes with and redistribute is ours.

“The Fast spending republicans have robbed from the poor…”

Since the poor don’t pay taxes it would be pretty hard to rob from them.

“tax breaks for the rich…”

Tax breaks have to go to the people who PAY the taxes, don’t they?!

“old lies…”

The biggest lie of the century is the democratic fairy tale that “Bush Lied.” If he lied, then so did Hillary and Bill. They said the exact same things.

“and people died….”

News flash: sometimes in war, people die. By your logic no war should ever be fought because someone might die.

chicaree
Chic-At least Hillary is providing for the American people.

Providing what? BILLs in tha mail for higher taxes.

Chic- "there will be taxes all right"

Your post did have a couple of words of truth in it after all.

el polaco

Your 11:10 a.m. post is pure political genius. I urge you to submit an application for Republican campaign chair in the general election.

Chicaree
You're absolutely right, Chicaree, at least on one point. The Republicans are in most cases, just as guilty as the Democrats in their frivolous and wasteful spending of our tax dollars. But that doesn't make what Hillary wants to do right. What we need is to educate people about the proper role of government so that we as a people can hold them accountable. As long as people continue to be lulled asleep to the dangers of socialism, we will continue to get socialism; from both parties.

The only thing we will hear this season
is, another chance to vote the lesser of two evils, all coming from the powerful DEM/GOP/MSM propaganda machines. The big lie is in full promotion mode, the one that tells us only the elites are able to govern. For us, there is no other choice, nowhere else to go.

By putting policy making into a false liberal/conservative partisan choice, we are left with the same old thing once again. Doing the same thing over and over expecting a different result is Einstein's definition of insanity, and it is true.

If you are ready to hold our elite politicians accountable and demand performance, I urge you to visit my website, JOEOLIVAFORPRESIDENT.ORG. It is the one place you will find some common sense and see how the elites have managed to accrue continual power that has given our nation partisanship rather than leadership.

Check out the site, why not? The elites have stolen our inheritance and mortgaged the future we are passing along to our children. Thanks, Joe

Hillary is the complete package.
__A complete package of seperate gifts, for the seperate factions looking their gift Santa in the mouth. The packages she portrays are gifts to segments within our society unchallenged by the free market. Clients, and dollars, are given directly to them without need of competition, or responsibility to the quality of their product. The government bureaucracy, and connected private interest, gladly receive these gifts from the liberal left. It's happy holidays all year long with the liberal lefts continued gift giving.

AudiR10 ....
With each of your posts, you reveal a little more about you. You seem to me to have a very interesting life story. I don't understand all of your anecdotes today, but the revelation of some family history is interesting.

I'm the youngest of 13 children, and I also was not aware of how "broke" we were. I do remember disliking the seemingly endless nights of dinner reruns: corn chowder. I had a fun and memorable upbringing despite the fact that I sometimes had to wear my sisters hand-me-downs. If my family were to live today the way we lived then I'm positive child protective services would have removed some of us for foster care. Not because we were abused in anyway (though my dad was pretty good with a belt) but because we wouln't have had all the goodies kids today have a right to: cell phones, video games, TV's in their rooms, etc.

expound truth
the reason the missus clinton makes promises she knows she will never be expected to keep is that she truly lacks a belief in both america and it's people. No matter how many times america has come to the aid of those in distress, the missus clinton still can't see america as being great. In her mind wqe are behind all the ills of the world but she will be our salvation. Under her inspired leadership america will beome friends with the world and she will fix ever problem for the great unwashed at home in america. Her solution entails punishing the earners for being successful and rewarding the losers for being failures. Perhaps if she truly believed in america she would understand we solve problems without govt guidance but alas she doesn't understand the country or the people she thinks she is entitled dto rule over. And still the dims/libs/socialists think she is the answer to all the problems we face. The realization is things will only get worse under her guidance should the clinton nightmare again become a reality

The dems have come a long way
from "Ask not what the government can do for you. Ask what you can do for the government."

Regretfully, I think a lot of voters have become those wanting something from the government having come too far from the independence that made us successful and strong.

World Class Genius
Reminds me a little of the story of a gal who phoned into a talk show recently. And, Janet, what is it that you do? Well, I'm a former member of MENSA. Former member? Not current? Why is that? Well, my husband asked me one day how smart did I think it was to have to pay dues to someone to have them tell me that I was a genious? Darn, turns out he was smarter than me.
As far as religous faith is concerned with regard to presidential material, I ask only that one believes that there is a God and not that He/She is God.

bag lady..hillary
bag lady..HILLARY..said she had it in the bag on tv! the only bag in her life is under her eyes.and the 20 years of trash she is bringing in her bag of communism/socialism! i hope she gets nominated..so we can dump her in a trash bag! and haul her out to sea.....

Our own ad
I like the idea of the bill, but I thought the next scene would be good.

Doorbell rings, woman and child answer to find a delivery person with gifts for everyone. Woman reads the tags and shows them to the child. He looks at her and says, "I know where they go, Mom". Both go out to yard and lift door to what looks like a root cellar. Inside is a large trunk marked "Pandora's Box" with that name crossed out and now has a new sign marked "Stupid Democrat Ideas" with a sub title "Kids Future Tax Bills" Fade to black. Just an idea..someone can elaborate!!

wildwest it is truly reflective...,
...of her formative years. Hillary's, the lefts, political power ambitions are of radical division. She follows her college, Alinsky, thesis to a tee. Inflame the passions of individual groups, and reap the benefits of those passions, as Americans fall all over themselves to save the group from trying curcumstances. Do so to various groups spread throughout the country and you've united a voting block. Those receiving the gifts according to Americas compassionate nature. The left has been playing the passions of our religious congregations for years. We all want to help our fellow man, and how much easier can it be, then have a program that does it for us. The left has been scaming us for years!

jetpilot
Jetpilot - you are incredibly ignorant!
I like the post - land your coin powered aircraft on the runway. That sounds about right.

I like the idea of an ad sequel
After Christmas, the bills start coming in through the mail slot, and all the credit cards are at their limits, so she goes to the basement and starts printing money...

Hillary's ad was dreadful
Hillary's ad is aimed at those voters who think that the job of the President is to hand out goodies. Those voters are liberal Democrat women, who are abysmally ignorant of economics but who unfortunately make up 60% of Democrat caucus voters in Iowa.

I have to say that if Romney did become the GOP nominee, he could have a field day deconstructing this ad. With his knowledge of economics and business, he could demolish it.

Stripping away our tax dollars
If folks think President Bush is taking away "our freedoms and right to privacy" by tapping SOME foreign phone calls possibly involving terrorism:

1. Just wait until Hillary turns health care into a government system instead of a free enterprise one.

2. Just wait until the tax bill comes due for all those presents.

3. Government will intrude BIG TIME on businesses and private individuals, as a requirement for receiving these "benefits".

Don't believe me...? Then you obviously don't know a lot about the current welfare system.

How are things back in Cut-N-Run-Ronland?

MSM Jumps on the Shrillary Care Band-
Wagon.

A lot of coverage has been given to a girl who just died in the Southern California area, because her family's insurance policy didn't cover a liver transplant:
http://abclocal.go.com/kabc/story?section=news/local&id=584 8163

What they don't always mention is that she was on life support, and her family pulled the plug as soon as the brow-beaten insurance company finally agreed to pay for the operation.

Also rarely mentioned is the fact that THE OPERATION IN QUESTION IS AN EXPERIMENTAL ONE, not normally covered by insurance policies.

The Left wing nurse's association was heavily involved in putting out propaganda pieces regarding this case.

So I have one question for all of the supposedly concerned citizens surrounding this case:

WHY DID NOT A SINGLE ONE OF THESE PEOPLE START A FUND TO PAY FOR THE OPERATION?

Hillary "RobinHood" Clinton
wants to reach into YOUR pockets to pay for the healthcare of anyone who manages to stumble across the American border.

This family I mentioned in my above post were from Armenia, well known in this area for soaking up all the government bennies they can get, even if it takes lying and cheating.

I feel bad that these people lost their daughter, but they are one of the groups that is sucking even the lint out of my pockets.

At the ABC website, another Armenian immigrant whined that she was ashamed to live in a country where this girl could die because she didn't get an operation:
http://abclocal.go.com/kabc/story?section=news/local&id=584 8163

Incidently, Michael Moore has jumped on this bandwagon, making it clear that this is one of his propaganda projects:
http://www.michaelmoore.com/words/latestnews/index.php?id=1 0577

I suggest that the whole lot of these spongers go back to Armenia and see how much their country will pay for!!!

If every single Armenian in Glendale would have paid $1 toward that girl's operation, it would have more than covered the operation. But they are so used to syphoning off my tax dollars, they are unaccustomed to giveing back.

In fact, Michael Moore has made a pile of money on his "Hate America First" movies. Why didn't that fat slob make himself useful and pay for the operation?

There's a surprise.

And as I fly my B767, a job I love and I'm paid well to do, you do your little job you hate. I will pray for you you pathetic little ****. God have Mercy on you, me and all of us. Because with idiots like you, this nation is under attack, lock stepping mindless lemmings. Hope Santa brings you a brain.

are wobbie and jet pilot the same?
Not likely.

Jet Pilot has better typing skills, and probably better grammer, though it is hard to tell if Robert's issue is typing or grammer, or both.

Jetpilot
Why don't you take a few deep breaths inside the brown paper bag in which your liberal Kool-aid came?

There's a difference between hatred and mockery. You hate those who can hurt you. You mock those who bite at your ankle like helpless little curs. Guess to which of these categories you belong?

Intelligence
jetp-try spell check. If this is the spelling of a 767 pilot, I may quit flying. (vice-versa, BTW)

DO not get distracted
Jet Pilot and Robert are mean't to get you off topic. A group of them did this on Tom Delay - overwelming the blog with their toxic illogical and venomous impulses.

It seem to me that it is psychological warfare. They would like to discourage us, gives us the impression that US Citizen's really don't know the difference between right and wrong.

This is WHY they support Hillary CLinton - in their ignorance and or truculent and immature refusal to recognize their own failings, they are like fools on a stage - saying nothing, understanding nothing and proud of it.

Screaming Children at the Grocery
Just look at JetPilot and his/her ilk like children screaming in the Grocery - demanding attention with nothing to say.

Do not engage them for in a perverse way this encourages them.

Rudy you are no Huckabee!
Giuliani plummets in latest NBC/WSJ poll

MSN-After a month’s worth of mostly negative media reports, his campaign’s decision to decrease his activity in the early nominating states and the rise of GOP rival Mike Huckabee, Rudy Giuliani’s national standing has plummeted in the most recent NBC News/Wall Street Journal poll, providing more evidence that the contest for the Republican Party’s presidential nomination is wide open.

Hillary
Without question, I will vote for any Republican candidate over the Democratic nominee. It was an easy decision: vote Republican or Socialist. Barack Hussein Winfrey is currently making progress against the Hillary Machine. IMO Obama poses the greatest danger to the GOP. Consequently, I think a Hillary primary victory sets the Republicans up for a win in November '08. Republicans and right-leaning Independents should do everything they can to support Hillary's candidacy in the primaries to assure Obama's defeat. Vote Hillary in the Democratic primary where there are no party restrictions, respond favorably as a Hillary supporter in political polls, talk positively about Hillary around the office water cooler, wear a Vote Hillary button on your lapel....

Hillary
Somewhere along the way of helping people - the Clintons have amassed a fortune. Hillary's genius credentials include helping the people while collectin a big fee sitting on WalMart's board, helping people while her law firm scammed people in the Whitewater land deal and helping a scumbag get a pardon from Bill - while brother Tony collected a fee.

America deserves a Clinton fight
"Exactly why the American right hates the Clintons so fervidly remains a subject of debate among both political scientists and psychiatrists, but the persistence of those emotions is beyond dispute." From Joe Conason this morning in Salon.

I believe that the American electorate once again needs to immerse itself in that hatred during the 2008 presidential contest, with Hillary as the Democratic nominee. My hope is that it would serve as a great big emetic for America.

Hillary misstated when she cited "a vast right wing conspiracy." But I have no doubt that there existed before and during the Clinton presidency a "shared understanding" among conservative activists, driven by the anti-abortion conservative activists, but consisting of an opportunistic coalition including fiscal conservatives.

Perhaps the building conservative movement since Reagan simply reached a critical mass at this time. Many people for many years had been working tirelessly to destroy the American Welfare State: Vigerie, the tax guy, forget his name, Heritage Foundation, AEI, all felt that government was the enemy of freedom and now comes along the passion and burgeoning organization of the religious right and its obsession with abortion as "mass murder."

Perhaps they just all achieved this critical mass as Bill Clinton ascended to the presidency. But it is clear that there was a "shared understanding" that the right would do everything in its power to undermine and sabotage the Clinton presidency as a means to further their own ideological ambitions.

Goldberg
Give it a rest. You are so very tiresome.

On the other hand, you might as well vent now.
And by you, I mean all the Hillary haters. Everyone, and I do mean everyone, will be so sick
of hearing it, that come election day, they will
have tuned you out completely.

Then reason will have an opportunity to take hold.

We are headed for ...
...Civil War!

I live within MY budget, every day. If I don't have the money, I make do, without!

Shrilliary has never had to manage a budget out of her own pocket. They have made 100's of millions and shared little, if anything, with their voter base outside of there ideology.

America has spent $18+ Trillion (est 2006 dollars) on welfare/great society with nothing to show but more of the same. Can anyone tell me of one successful person who attributes their success to the welfare/ nanny state? or one gov't social program that produces consistant positive results while staying in budget?

The left will never understand how inefficient the government is with OUR tax dollars. We will never understand the left. Insanity - "doing the same things over and over then expecting different results." Let us turn our backs on the entitlement class posting here. They should all be out there volunteering at soup kitchens, donating to charity, or taking in the homeless, anyways. To the left - You can make voluntary donations to the Government if you feel they are underfunded!

To my "Right-minded" friends- remember "KEEP YOUR POWDER DRY." We may need it, soon!

All Those Gifts
The really scary thing is that she really thinks she can do all of these things, because as we all know she is the smartest woman alive (of course failing the D.C. bar exam was just a fluke, it was probably discriminatory). The only good thing is that her co-President will most likely try and rein-her-in to some degree.

Robert
Have you any answers for my questions? Try not to fry the search engines looking one.
The left - no cattle but plenty of B.S. and hats - to pass around for hand-outs

p.s.

1) A loaded gun is a happy gun!

2) Gun control means having a steady hand.

3) ATF should be a store, not a Gov agency!

To the left, here
Only answers to my questions, please. Any attacks will be ignored, as I am now turning my back towards your post's. This is to better reply with the business end of my digestive system, figuratively speaking.

The ad is apt
It undoubtedly perfectly describes Sen Clinton's utmost desire, which is to "hand out goodies" (as another poster put it). Reminds me of the scene in Evita where she's throwing money out of the train window. I truly believe that is what fuels her ambition.
She was right about one thing: we can't afford her million ideas.

correctwing patriot
The discourse has indeed become bitter between decent God-fearing conservative Americans and deranged liberals. I'm forced to defend my family, my lifestyle, and literally everything I've believed in since childhood by leftist multicultural socialist ideologues. As a non-apologetic white male Catholic Republican lawyer, I am targeted for higher taxes, social engineering and other Liberal schemes by Queen Hillary and B. Hussein Obama. Political correctness, the religion of the Left, nauseates me daily. Whatever happened to the world of Ozzie and Harriet? Robert, King Liberal and other Liberals will now proceed to accuse me of being racist. See what I mean?

Room for two
Excellent column. The best "gift" Hillary could provide would be to take her grubby, chubby hubby and leave the country -- I think there's room for two on her broomstick.

"Whatever happened to the world of Ozzie and Harriet? " - Tampa Dave, again. Answer: Don't know, But they sure didn't talk like you.

"1) A loaded gun is a happy gun! 2) Gun control means having a steady hand." _ by Correctwing

"They have made 100's of millions and shared little " - hyperbole, by Correctwing

"Can anyone tell me of one successful person who attributes their success to the welfare/ nanny state?" question by Correctwing. Answer -
yes I can.

Enough already. I am off to church.

Would you want to take the advise of these guys?
Not me. They are scary, to be sure. But persuasive? Not on your life.

Those 2 terms as first lady
Does Hillary appear to learn more through osmosis than decision-making?

MSNBC-This is part of a series of articles about the life and careers of contenders for the 2008 Republican and Democratic presidential nominations.

As first lady, Hillary Rodham Clinton jaw-boned the authoritarian president of Uzbekistan to leave his car and shake hands with people. She argued with the Czech prime minister about democracy. She cajoled Roman Catholic and Protestant women to talk to one another in Northern Ireland. She traveled to 79 countries in total, little of it leisure; one meeting with mutilated Rwandan refugees so unsettled her that she threw up afterward.
