Will the Dems' health care Christmas Present to America be an improvement or detriment to our health care system?

A steal

"President Ford's home reduced $100,000," screams the headline of a real estate ad posted by Joan Dixon of McEnearney Associates, referring to the late Gerald R. Ford's longtime residence in Alexandria that has languished on the market for 10 months.

The three-level, four-bedroom national historic landmark -- with a pink bathroom -- features a "gigantic swimming pool" and "classic knotty-pine kitchen and den," yet nobody is rushing to buy the property.

"It is a wonderful opportunity to live in a historic house with modern conveniences yet distinct features left when the Ford family lived there," Mrs. Dixon writes in the ad. "This is a friendly neighborhood close to Alexandria's Old Town, the Pentagon, and D.C. Metro buses are within one block."

The nation's 38th president lived at 514 Crown View Drive for nearly two decades, including when he was a congressman from Michigan, vice president, and even for the first 10 days of his presidency. New cost of owning history: $899,000.

Cost of a cut

National political operative Tim Roper, president of Tim Roper & Co. in Chatham, Mass., was in Washington last week on business and while "walking along L Street, I passed by a hair-stylist shop. Once I saw this sign, I just had to snap a picture."

The hilarious sidewalk sign, placed in front of Duvall's Hair Co. at 1400 L St. NW, referring to two $400 haircuts received recently by 2008 Democratic presidential candidate John Edwards, announced: "John Edwards Presidential Special, only $400. Walk-ins welcome!"

Big brother

"I need to be inspired," Democratic Rep. James P. Moran of Virginia replied when we asked him whom he endorses for president in 2008.

Although the congressman is a supporter of New York Sen. Hillary Rodham Clinton -- and in more ways than one -- he tells Inside the Beltway that he's mightily impressed with Illinois Sen. Barack Obama, particularly after reading the senator's second book, "The Audacity of Hope: Thoughts on Reclaiming the American Dream." Continued...

Inspiration is the first step
Well now, inspiration does motivate people to reach into their own pocketbook and donate to their favored candidate. The second effort that motivates people is why they support them.

In the case of why I support Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice:
we live in a dangerous time in history, and like the post-war years of the late 1940's, our nation still needed a strong leader to make the hard decisions for our nation. On that issue, I see Condi as our own Margaret Thatcher.

She has worldwide relationships that will be vital for her in the next administration. No other candidate on the GOP side has them. Security for our nation is key to the 2008 race.
While the press might be reduced to taking pictures and reporting a small story, no one should doubt that the REAL power at the State Department is from Condi Rice.

While others might stand on the sidelines and say NO NO NO NO to all the other candidates, keeping their money in their pocket. My funds and those of others continue to finance the movement to promote Condi Rice for president.

Remember this----millions were raised by Bill Frist, millions were raised by George Allen, and millions were raised by George Pataki. The people supported these men for president but they have faded from view.
Each and every time to see Condi Rice shaking hands and giving speeches, it is only a glimpse at the final results after months of talks to discuss world issues. Condiplomacy is thriving in the Bush Administration and the people of our nation know she is working hard to help our president now.

Our funds are well-spent to promote this fabulous dynamic person as our next president.

Need inspiring?
If you vote on the basis of who inspires you, you are a child and shouldn't be voting.

That may well include a majority of both Republicans and Democrats.
