Rudy Giuliani Would Be Our Bill Clinton

Was the Copenhagen Global Warming Summit Walk-Out a Win for the U.S.?

Perhaps the biggest oddity of the Republican primary season so far has been that GOP voters keep saying that they want another Reagan, the candidates keep comparing themselves to Reagan at every opportunity, and yet the man who is leading in the national polls, Rudy Giuliani, is about as far apart from Reagan as it's possible to get ideologically while still remaining in the Republican Party. Rudy Giuliani is no Reagan. What he is, and what he would be if he gets the nomination, is our Bill Clinton.

Consider a few things.

Yes, Bill Clinton was impeached for perjury, not for having an affair, but conservatives relentlessly bashed Bill Clinton throughout the nineties for cheating on his wife and degrading the office. Well, morally Rudy Giuliani is every bit as sleazy as Bill Clinton.

He has been married 3 times, which could be forgivable in a President, but he also cheated on his second wife with his current wife, Judith Nathan, and announced his separation from wife number two, Donna Hanover, to her and the world at the same time at a press conference.

This has seldom been discussed during the primary season, which is rather bizarre given that the biggest knock against Newt Gingrich that I heard when he was thinking about running -- from the readers on my blog and other bloggers privately -- was that they were disgusted by his affairs and shabby treatment of his former wife. Yet Rudy, whose Clintonesque private behavior is every bit as appalling as Newt's, has gotten a pass on the issue.

Folks, if you think that nominating a man as sleazy as Rudy isn't going to come back and bite the GOP in the general election after the way we complained about Clinton during the nineties, you're kidding yourself. Moreover, if you think it's out of the realm of possibility that Giuliani would diddle some intern in a back office somewhere once he got out from under the watchful gaze of his wife, you're giving him way too much credit. Any man who will cheat on his second wife will cheat on his third wife, too, if the opportunity presents itself.

The Clintons are also known for the shady cast of characters who surround them. We're talking about people like Sandy Berger, Anthony Pellicano, Charlie Trie, Norman Hsu, and Anthony Rodham. Well, there are early indications that Rudy Giuliani is just as careless as the Clintons about whom he hangs around with.

We already know about Bernie Kerik, Rudy's pal and business partner who is facing 142 years in prison, but Rudy also continues to be closely associated with Alan Placa, a Catholic priest who has been credibly accused by multiple former victims of child molestation.

How many of these people surround Rudy and do you really want to spend 2008 explaining them away, the way Dems have to try to explain away people like Sandy Berger & Norman Hsu?

Another thing that people often forget about Bill Clinton is that his biggest accomplishments, welfare reform, NAFTA, and balancing the budget, were near and dear to the hearts of Republicans, not Democrats. That brings us to Rudy Giuliani -- the real Giuliani, not the guy who keeps trying to convince everyone that he's a diehard conservative.

The truth is that Rudy Giuliani is not a conservative. He's a Rockefeller Republican, a RINO, a tougher, more charismatic version of Arlen Specter -- which is why it's mind boggling that so many conservatives who are furious at George Bush and senators like Lindsey Graham, John Warner, and Trent Lott for not being conservative enough are happily backing Giuliani.

Don't kid yourself: Graham, Lott, Warner, and George W. Bush are all CONSIDERABLY to the right of Rudy Giuliani. Just take a look at what National Journal said about Rudy,

"The National Journal's rating system put him at 56 percent conservative and 44 percent liberal on economic issues in 1996 and assessed him as liberal by 59 to 40 percent in looking at his social issues votes."

We're talking about a guy whose record is pro-abortion (even pro-partial birth abortion), pro-gun control, and pro-illegal immigration. We're talking about a guy who was endorsed by New York's Liberal Party in 1989. Rudy even personally endorsed Mario Cuomo and said he was open to endorsing Bill Clinton.

This is not a man who is going to make Republicans happy if he becomes President. Yes, he would be better than Hillary, but he would also break the hearts of conservatives over and over again on issues that we deeply care about if he gets into office.

Now, I want to be clear about something: if Rudy Giuliani captures the nomination, I will vote for him and I would strongly encourage you to do the same. But, I can't pretend to be even the tiniest bit enthusiastic about having Rudy as our nominee.

To the contrary, Rudy is a dangerous candidate for the GOP. He could potentially tear the fabric of the Republican Party asunder by alienating millions of pro-life social conservatives so badly that they may vote for a third party candidate or turn away from the Republican Party entirely. That means a Rudy Giuliani candidacy could seriously damage the coalition that has delivered so many victories for the GOP from 1980 forward.

Additionally, it's worth noting that while the "Rudy is the most electable candidate" shtick seems plausible at first glance, it's pure vapor -- no more solid than the "John Kerry is our most electable candidate" nonsense that Democrats bought into hook, line, and sinker back in 2004. Why is that? Because millions of pro-life Republicans would stay home in 2008 if Rudy is the nominee. Because it seems unlikely that a pro-abortion New Yorker running as a Republican could carry every southern state. Because, most importantly, he is not currently beating Hillary Clinton in head-to-head polls in any state that George Bush didn't win in 2004. In other words, he doesn't live up to the hype that says he's going to put several key blue states into play. So, if you take away the electability angle from Rudy Giuliani, what's left that makes him appealing to conservatives?

Put another way, if you love RINOS like Arlen Specter and Lincoln Chafee, Rudy may be a good choice for you. If you're sick of social conservatives and would like to see their agenda rejected, even if it risks turning large numbers of them off to the Republican Party, vote Rudy. If you think that Rudy is the most electable candidate and your only concern is beating Hillary, I don't think that you're right, but I do understand backing Giuliani for that reason. However, if that's not what you're looking for, there is still time to choose another candidate.

Long story short, conservatives who are backing Rudy should go into it "eyes wide open" and understand exactly what they're getting. They're getting a Republican Bill Clinton: an ethically compromised candidate that Republicans will constantly have to apologize for and who is destined to disappoint conservatives either by losing in 2008 or by winning and then opposing us on many of the issues we care about most once he gets into office.

Rudy's Inadequate (explanation)
Rudy is claiming that shifting money from obscure budgets for security payments was routine as the police department was slow on payment and this accounting ruse sped up payment.

I have 2 questions.

1. If the police department is routinely slow on payment why not speed up the payment. Rudy's security is pretty easy to budget on an annual basis. Further, if he needed extra money he could ask for a supplemental budget. Asking for additional legitimate security money should be easy to justify and quickly approved.

2. If the practice of raiding obscure budgets for security purposes is routine. Why stonewall the auditors when they ask for an explanation and hid behind the ruse of security.

Further, when Clinton was messing around in the White House with Monica (at the very least) we claimed he was reckless and exhibited bad judgment. The way that Rudy handled his second divorce, adultery and 3rd marriage is way beyond anything that Clinton did in the White House.

Huck, Rudy and ethics
Rudy and Huck have teamed up. Huck is openly helping Rudy. Both are ethically challenged.

Rudy claims it is a political hit. Rudy has some of the best PR people in the world. Any ethical challenge is going to be defined as a political hit by them. There is no good time for such information to come out.

Huck claims it is party politics. I would point out that a lot of Republican Governors have Dem legislatures and they do not have a long laundry list of ethic violations like Huckabee.

Arnold comes to mind as an example. CA is controlled by the Dems and they hate all Reps. MA is another example.

In 2006 we lost both houses due to culture of corruption charges (which were partly justified). Why in the world would we want a couple of well documented, ethically challenged, candidates to head the ticket in 2008?

People are sick and tired of...
...the constant derision of the President. That is why the swing voters will go HIllary over Rudy. She is a known quantity, and the MSM won't go after her. Rudy, on the other hand has a closet full of surprises that we wouldn't hear about until he gets the nomination (that includes his coming out of the closet, from what I can tell). I've seen two videos of him wearing women's clothes and makeup. That is two too many. RUDY CANNOT WIN THE ELECTION.

Re-watch his confrontation with Romney. Romney is looking straight at Rudy, while Rudy fumbles with his notes and then looks straight ahead, at the camera, hoping the onslaught will end. Hillary will destroy him. But Romney will turn the tables on her. She'll be the one succumbing to old age on the stage.

Some may not trust Romney, but know this: he is a far better solution than Hillary, and he is the only one with a decent chance to beat her.

Huckabee, by the way, is as far left as there is in the Republican party. Ron Paul want to let Al-Qaeda have all of the oil. He thinks we can feed 400 million Americans and Mexicans using corn oil for fuel. Thompson just doesn't have any oomph. I wish to heaven he did.

Romney haters, do yourself a favor. WAtch the confrontation again.

Soo Rush, ya think Blue Dresses R funny?
Sean, blue dresses are...?

You are headed for the garbage heap of history, if you do this.

I love this author to pieces.

Rudy married his cousin...
Wait til people try to get their arms around this one. Most people don't know about it, I seen it for the first time on TV a few years ago and it made me gag. You know the swing voters who will be disgusted. Sorry Rudy but Huckabee already has the cousin friendly voters.

Our own WJClinton what a temptation
Oh please stop.

PS
But Rush and Sean are ready to take you up. They said they will back anyone with and (R).

Romney is not a conservative
You people will not listen.
Conservatives will not be voting for any liberal calling himself a republican, mark it down and watch.

It would be better to have Hilliary than Romney or Rudy.

Excellent remarks why that is by Jane Chastain.

Yes, I fear President Rudy Giuliani (AND ROMNEY) far more than I fear President Hillary Rodham Clinton, and here's why: There isn't a dime's worth of difference, politically, between the two, and a liberal Republican will do far more damage to the country in four years than a liberal Democrat.

Republicans will fight the liberal policies of a Democrat president. However, most will roll over and play dead before they will stand up to one of their own.

When Rudy Giuliani begins "cooperating" with liberal Democrats to advance his agenda, who will sound the alarm to alert the American people?

Paradigm Shift
Is TH a Republican web site, or a conservative web site? Republican and conservative don't seem to be on the same page anymore.

I can understand how many conservatives might have a problem reconciling their reality tunnel with Ron Paul's stance on foreign policy, especially when viewing that stance through the distorting lens of the neo-cons. The Ron Paul paradigm shift steps on too many toes, upsets too many apple carts, and threatens too many vested interests. Many conservatives don't seem ready for a second American Revolution--yet.

What I can't understand is how a conservative can look at Duncan Hunter, Mitt Romney, and Rudy Guiliani, and actually prefer one of the latter two. Beat Hillary! Screw voting records! Vote for an elitist, MSM-approved liberal Republican! If Hunter represents too great a paradigm shift for conservatives, then, as Ayn Rand once asked: "What are they conserving?"

Extreme shocker: HUGH HEWITT EXCLAIMS "RUDY WINS!"

I think the relevant question is: "Wins what?"

Oh, Sorry
Hugh's exclamation was that "Romney Wins Big."

That's right. Hugh wrote a book on Romney.

Two peas in a pod, and all that...

Not a dime's worth of difference.

MARRIED HIS UNCLES DAUGHTER

Yeeeeecccccch.

John
I agree with nearly everything except this:

...Bill Clinton is that his biggest accomplishments, welfare reform, NAFTA, and balancing the budget, were near and dear to the hearts of Republicans, not Democrat....

None of those things listed there are accomplishments of Bill Clinton. They were accomplishments of the Republican congress. I will grant that he actually supported NAFTA, but the other items he actively fought. He vetoed welfare reform twice before reluctently signing it the third time.

John Hawkins Article is Slanderous
John Hawkins reckless article on Rudi Giuliani is unfortunate for conservative readers. No question that Mayor Giuliani has had some difficult and public marital problems. Experience shows us that problems like this are difficult master in any life. We can't know what was inside any marriage, but we do know that there are not women lining up accusing the mayor of rape and fraud, nor has he been convicted of any crime and disbarred. He may not agree across the board with strict conservatives, but (unlike Bill Clinton) he has never waffled on what he does believe to please the polls.

Being mayor of NYC would require what he did do, ride the fence on disturbing issues like abortion and illegal aliens for the purpose of managing human needs. Altough I am anti-abortion, I understand that Christians have failed to put their money where there mouths are in many instances, providing support and viable options for pregnant single women. They talk like all they have to do is outlaw abortion to make it go away, without digging beneath the surface to address the human needs that make abortion appear to be a solution. During his term as mayor, Rudy Giuliani saw a decrease in abortions and an increas in adoptions in NYC. This could only happy because of a commitment to meeting this human need and then doing something about it.

I see in Rudy Giuliani a strong leader, who unlike Bill Clinton, is trying every day to "get it right." In a time when politicians are known for doing nothing except pad their own pockets, the mayor has a track record of accomplishing the impossible in NYC. I can support that.

You better take off your rose colored glasses, honey.
He is no better than Hitlary. I thought way back after 9/11 he would be a great leader, too. If he really stood for conservative priciples. The only thing Rudy stands tough on is the war. Sorry, but that isn't gonna cut it for me.

Bad news for Rudy!

NW-Ernie Nardi is a 59-year-old television technician from Dykers Park, Brooklyn. It’s not often that guys like Nardi get the chance to question the presidential candidates–much less dominate the national political narrative and make headlines in the Washington Post, Mother Jones and the New York Daily News. But that’s exactly what Nardi did last night, when a simple webcam clip of the silver-haired New Yorker kicked off the CNN/YouTube debate and sparked a firework-filled spat between GOP frontrunners Rudy Giuliani and Mitt Romney over illegal immigration

Republicans, you are now TRULY RETARDED

Sad and sad because it may be true. I myself do not believe in polls anymore and I am not sure why Mr. Hawkins would be so willing to vote for this drag racer. I will say I have started seeing a trend towards republicans, such as my self, moving away from the party and telling them NO WAY when they call or write and ask for money. I am also starting to see people putting on the Hunter tag. This is because we do not really need another Regan, just someone who has some of the same values. And that lets out most of the candidates now running! Truth is IF mittary or rudary gets the nom because republicans are so willing to sell their souls so cheap, I may well vote for billary, at least she’s more honest on how she will bankrupt the country and take your guns, and replace us with cheap labor! Who knows, maybe we can all learn how to speak Chinese, we may need to in order for her to pay her debts.

Lots of Skeletons
Julia -

You call the article slanderous. What did Hawkins say about Rudy that was untrue?

The skeletons haven't even begun to come out of Rudy's closet. You can bet Hillary has a warehouse full of files on "America's Mayor." She's just waiting until he's nominated to make them public.

Morally this man is a walking piece of garbage. Hawkins is correct. He will destroy the GOP, unless we destroy him first.

Great Hatchet Job, John
You can spout as many Democratic talking points as you like but there's something you can't get around: Rudy's accomplishments in New York City. Pre-Rudy, New York City was a cesspool. You couldn't walk through Times Square without being accosted by drug dealers, prostitutes and con artists. Rudy cleaned that city up, and he did it by means that would make any Conservative proud. And he also did it while ignoring the carpings of The New York Times and all of the NYC liberals. He has shown true leadership and courage. His actions on 9/11 get all of the attention, but his leadership of New York City is the top of his resume. I will proudly vote for him for any office of his choice, any time.

been there, done that
FORGET "REGULARIZATION RUDY"!
I voted twice for the putative "lesser evil" in Presidente Jorge Bush-- what a disaster! No more globalist, open border, neoCON, RINOS! Rudy is cut from the same rotten cloth, and smooth-talkin' preacher Huckster ALSO loves ILLEGALS, but is trying like Regularization Rudy to hide the incriminating truth. The Huckster favors free tuition for ILLEGALS, "Who should not be punished for the sins of their parents." Hey Huckster, most AMERICANS do not get free tuition! Charity begins at home-- and for LEGITIMATE residents!

While TH posters (a relatively astute, articulate crowd generally) rightly disagree about many issues, when you factor out the trolls and ethnocentric soreheads and zealots, there is amazing consensus about ILLEGALS.

Fred and Mitt are saying the right things about ILLEGALS, and realistically we do not elect obscure Congressmen as POTUS, so I could support either of these two. Politics requires compromise, but Sanctuary City Rudy would require too much. Check out Fred's thoughtful plans for ILLEGALS, a flat tax, etc.

http://www.fred08.com/virtual/Immigration.asp

Rudy's views on social issues are largely irrelevant to me; am not sure he could be trusted on court appointments, and what I really want a POTUS to do is his job-- defend and protect the border, enforce the laws, and eschew neoCON ilk conflicts. Rudy is the candidate of FAUX News becuase he is a neoCON globalist. The MSM embraces him becuase he is good copy, and the left figures he will implode.

Real Rudy
Just before 911, Rudy's approval rating were in the tank. Many New Yorkers liked his policies like cleaning up times square and quality of life issues. But the mayor demonstrated an arrogance and self-righeousness that has only been matched by GWB. Read his book on Leadership and you will find an individual who is totally full of himself. That made him very tone deaf when dealing with certain situations. A lot of people who voted for him as Mayor began to like him less and less as his term wore on. He does not play well with people who disagree with him whether they are in or out of his political party.

His performance on 911 was extraordinary and contributed a lot to holding the city and the nation together and he was an outstanding US attorney.

When it comes to temperment he is anything but Bill Clinton.

If Rudy is as bad as he seems...
...and he is, why would Jihn Hawkins say that he'll vote for him if he gets the nomination? Where is the courage of his convictions? Personally, if Rudy gets the nomination I'll be writing in a candidate. Because if Rudy wins this nomination and Hillary wins the Dems nomination, you'll be voting for a liberal Democrat or a liberal republican...and there's no difference between them.

Ahhh. You could only hope
If ONLY it WAS about Rudy getting laid, illicitly, and while still married to someone else - and using the NY taxpayers as sugardaddies for his hoochiemama's personal needs. If only. And then, would we see the same moralistic outrage as we did for Clinton? It would seem, if one were to honestly assess the situation in Rudy's case, that Morals have a very rightwing partisan bent.

If ONLY we could count on another Clinton in Rudy. Instead, we'd get George Torture/Warmonger Bush on steroids - and with an evil temper. Now THAT'S a scary thought. One thought: the anti-christ.

HUNTER FOR AMERICA

Securing the border and enforcing the law is the only way we get to keep our rule of law, our representative Republic, and our Constitution. We must elect a President who WILL secure the border and enforce the laws. If citizenship becomes meaningless, this will no longer be the United States of America.

If the GOP thinks they can continue to import cheap labor for their donors at the expense of the citizens, they will. I will not vote for that again. If we continue to play the game of "the other guy is worse", we will lose our country. Sorry, but I will not participate in that game any longer. The GOP power brokers think we will vote for "anybody but a Democrat" so they can continue to ignore securing the borders and enforcing the laws. I'm hoping GOP primary voters give the party elites some surprises in the primaries. The levers of power and the money in the GOP are all in the hands of the cheap labor express. They do not want Duncan Hunter as the candidate. He WOULD enforce the laws and secure the border. WE have to make him the nominee by voting in the primaries. We have to talk to our friends and neighbors about him. He is not going to get media coverage. It's going to have to be a grass roots effort. I WANT to vote for a GOP candidate in Nov.'08, I WILL NOT vote for any of the amnesty supporters. If it takes crushing the GOP so a new party representing American citizens can arise, so be it.

Can't be trusted
My boss once told me if he found out that one of the guys out in the machine shop was cheating on his wife, that guy would get fired because they are too untrustworthy to work for him.

We know Rudy and what he stands for, he can't be trusted as president. I know he can't get a job in my machine shop.

Decision making time is near
and we are all faced with the hard decision. Most of us seem to be drawn to Rudy because of a strong sense of leadership and ability to make decisions to bring order. In face of terrorists threats we know will face us for a decade to come, such strength is compelling. Security above all else.

A question facing us is whether we can be like the democrats who dismissed infidelity and sex in the oval office in order to maintain their candidate.

The second question is whether strength in leadership on security is enough or whether integrity, morality, values consistent with moral strength is in the long run the path to greater security. Do we as a nation need to face up to the threats wih physical and military strength and the highest of morals?

Will democrat and RINO values of "live and let live", relativism, acceptance of all life styles, "hello illegal immigrants", campaigns against boy scouts, elimination of religion in the public place, prohibitions against political incorrect speech, income redistribution, nanny government and religion of environmentalism and global warming replacing real religion give us the moral and emotional strength to fight the external wars.

Bear in mind, the Reagan philosophy of optimism, religion, belief in our fellow man and his independence and resourcefulness and respect for the exceptialism of America. Who offers us anything close to that?

Rudy is the better looking
Clinton. I won't vote for either. Romney & Huckabee are RINO's. Look at their respective states and what they did while they were govenors. Thompson...Ron Paul, while constitutionally correct, does not reside in the place I call "reality."

In the end, it'll be a choice between a Big Female Cleansing Product and a Turd Sandwich.

It revolts me.
Giuliani would be our Hitler. Marching through the Middle East to expand our empire, keeping dissenters quiet with plungers and gun grabbing.

Hunter supporters
Since he's barely in the race, there's relatively little focus on his connection with the Cunningham/Wilkes/Foggo and defense appropriations subversion.

If he were to become a frontrunner, you'll get so sick of seeing Hunter scandals, you'd think he was part of Hillary's machine.

Slick Willie Lookalikes
Interesting Rudy and Huck have teamed up to defeat Mitt and give the nomination to Rudy. It is pathetic our party has come to this: Rudy with the morals and character of Clinton and Huck with the "man from Hope" ethical problems. Count me as one who could skip the presidential election for the first time in 40 years if one of these bozos gets the nomination.

POLITICAL JOKE

.....Bill Clinton asks Queen Elizabeth how she can be so efficient ..."Easy", she replies, "I just surround myself with intelligent people." ...

..."It was me", Tony replies ...

...Bill decides to test Hillary so he asks her the same question ..."Let me think about it for awhile", says Hillary ...In the hallway she runs into Ron Paul and asks him the question ..."That's easy", says Paul, "It was me"...

.....Hillary runs back to Bill and says. "It was Ron Paul" ...

....."No you idiot", shouts Bill, "It was Tony Blair" ...hahahaha .....COLOSSUS

Liberal Rudy

There are millions of us who usually vote GOP who WILL NOT vote for Rudy, for a variety of reasons. For me it's the amnesty issue, for others it's life, still others, homosexuality or gun rights. Whatever the issue is, it is a bright line we will not cross. No amount of Hillaryscare, intimidation, name-calling or cajoling will get us to vote for Rudy. He's in the wrong party. He is a liberal. I don't vote for liberals. When he loses, don't blame us, we tried to warn you. Flipping off half your voters is not a winning strategy.

Rudy and baggage
Rudy has many strengths. He has strong leadership characteristics. However, if he is going to lead the party and the country in the wrong direction those strengths become a negative.

Further, Rudy has a lot of negative baggage. We are only seeing the tip of the ice berg on the scandal. It is only starting to leak. It needs to come out now before the nomination.

Overall if Rudy's strengths offset his very heavy baggage he will win the primary. However, in the early primary states where people have gotten a good close up look at Rudy he is not doing very well. In the RCP averages he is barely 3rd in IA (tied for 4th in the most recent poll), a distant 2nd in NH (tied for 2nd, 1 point out of 4th in the most recent poll), and 2nd in SC (but 5th in a recent poll).

Rudy is starting to get the real consideration that he should have gotten all summer and fall. His halo tarnishes when people get all of the story and not just the 9/11 image.

baseballdoc
You always make me smile....;-)

Thanks for that joke!

Was REAGAN a conservative???
Let's take an unvarnished, objective look at Reagan for a change:

Reagan was divorced and hasn't gotten along with his son Ron.

As Governor, Reagan signed a bill legalizing abortion in California, resulting in 2 million abortions there. Later, like Romney, he said he changed his mind about abortion.

As President, he signed the first bill for immigration "reform" (a euphemism for amnesty) in 1986. No border fence for him.

And abortion remained 100% legal throughout Reagan's two terms as President.

So why do we even consider REAGAN to be a conservative?

Because he supported free trade. So does Rudy Giuliani.

He was a foreign-policy hawk. So is Rudy Giuliani.

He was a staunch proponent of free-market solutions to problems. So is Rudy Giuliani.

With the passage of time, folks have tended to forget that Reagan did NOT campaign for President as a social conservative. I still have his 1980 campaign brochures in which his entire platform was based around economics and foreign policy, just as Rudy's is today. The "Christian values" stuff hadn't materialized as issues yet for another few years.

for BG
BG writes: "In 2006 we lost both houses due to culture of corruption charges (which were partly justified). Why in the world would we want a couple of well documented, ethically challenged, candidates to head the ticket in 2008?"

I know you're supporting Romney. Do you REALLY think that with Hillary's entire opposition research staff digging up dirt on Romney, they're not going to find anything at all to use against him???

If the worst comes to the worst, they'll even fabricate something.

Remember the Bush DUI which the Gore oppo folks magically uncovered on the Thursday before Election Day 2000?

Or the forged National Guard documents the Dems tried to use against Bush in September 2004?

Kerry was an amateur and made the mistake of springing those documents on the public in September, giving the media adequate time to debunk them before the November 2004 election. Hillary won't make that same mistake. She'll do it the Clinton way, and spring the scandal four days before Election Day, giving the media no time for fact-checking.

Rudy Jurisprudence
I have actually hear Rudy say that Roe v. Wade is an example of "strict constructionist" jurispurdence. If Rudy actually believes that I seriously wonder about his mental capacity let alone his Clintonesque morality. The Supreme Court now splits on many 5/4 decisions. A Rudy "strict constructionist" would be a constitutional disaster for many generations to come.

Huck buying signatures to get on ballot
Looks like for al the accusations that romney buys his support, huck has decided he would take a shot at it.

http://mittreport.com/hucks_buying_signatures.html

Rouge and Lipstick
If, everyday for the next year, you want to see pictures of your presidential candidate wearing dresses, rouge and lipstick, then nominate Rudy. The predictions that a conservative acting Hillary Clinton will be swept into office in a landslide will come true. RG has no chance whatsoever to become president.

Anyone who thinks Islamic terrorism is a greater threat to America than massive deficits caused by adding 100 million new Americans over the next twenty years, needs to take a reality check. We are facing climate change, severe draughts (ongoing right now in NC and GA), not to mention the emptying of the nation's largest aquifers (one covers 7 midwestern states), and skyrocketing energy costs. Romney is on the right side of the immigration issue. Giuliani and Huckabee are business as usual. They will bury their heads in the terrorist sand and eventually push thru amnesty under pressure from big business and the dems.

If you want to see the Dems pick up five to ten seats in the Senate, nominate a candidate who will stick by the "12 million" myth and who will try to smooth over this dire threat.

If you want to see Republicans swept into Congress, nominate someone who will inform the swing voter couch potatoes of America that the 12 million figure is just another lie perpetrated by those who put personal power above your future.

Why do you think only President Bush lied about WMD when most of the democrat leaders are on record of belief in WMD? Why do you think lying about sex is of no consequence? Why do you think that former president Clinton's lies about his positions on Iraq and Afghanistan is of no consequence? Why do you think that lies about Aids statistics by the UN mean nothing? I could go on but you owe an explanation regarding your obsession regarding Bush's so called lies and your avoidance of condemnation of other lies. Political agenda?????

I'm pretty disappointed, Hawkins
That was a vicious smear article, not worthy of a serious TH columnist.

Bill Clinton was an out-of-control sex addict. He engaged in hundreds of seamy liaisons, used Secret Service and State Troopers to secure "services" for him, exposed himself before subordinate employees, used the power of his office to obtain sex, hired private investigators to harass his victims to keep them silent, ran PR campaigns to slander and defame them when they went public, and very likely committed several counts of rape.

And that's just the sex part. We haven't talked about the criminal financing, the dalliances with Communist China, and all the rest.

Rudy Giuliani has been married 3 times, and (incredibly) announced an affair in a public statement.

To claim that those are comparable records is simply irresponsible. Yes, I have a few problems with Rudy's notion of fidelity; but he's not within 3 light years of being Bill Clinton.

Furthermore, to try to elicit distaste because Giuliani has not publicly jettisoned his friendship with a man accused of pedophilia is reprehensible. I have no problem with punishing pedophiles under the law, but if one of MY friends were so charged, I would stand by him and steer him toward getting the right kind of help, not shove him away and let him burn. We should *respect* that sort of loyalty, not take cheap shots at it.

For shame, Mr. Hawkins. I'm seriously disappointed.

Oh, that worked SO well...
Robert invariably says ridiculous things (I've scarcely heard an exception), but this one deserves a spanking:

"If Saddam had WMD the correct response was what Mr. Clinton and Bush the old did...bomb."

Oh, that worked REALLY well, it did.

Just ask the Kurds. You know, the ones we dug up from mass graves.

Fool.

No candidate 100% worthy
A little time and research will find reasons to disqualify every Republican Presidential Candidate. In a Perfect World, there would be a clear choice of a candidate that would represent everything conservatives believe in with no political baggage......

We don't live in Perfect World, we have to live in a world in which nobody is perfect. The constant harping on every little detail is going to do nothing to further this discussion. We should concern ourselves with the major issues that would negatively impact the country.

Ron Paul's isolationism has already been proven to NOT work. His adherence to his own strict interpretation of the Constitution of the United States makes him unfit to be POTUS. He better serves the country by remaining in Congress as a Constitutional Conscience.

Rudy Guiliani's questionable morals, liberal views on gays, abortion, and gun control, and poor decisions in the past are too much to ignore as old political baggage. A presidency with him in it would be dismal for conservatives.

Fred Thompson has little chance of winning and discounted himself from the race by entering so late and having the appearance of taking the race as seriously as a certain comedian.

That leaves us with Duncan Hunter, Mitt Romney, Tom Tancredo, and Mike Huckabee as our only real choices. The prior political baggage of these candidates are all about equal in terms of liabilities and could even be overlooked. Remember that the former Governors have had to deal with petty state legislatures and activist judicial branches.

The important message we should take from this article is that once a Republican Nominee is selected, we need to give our support unless we wish to live in Hillaryland.

MLD shows his colors
MLD, our resident neo-Marxist, wrote this transparent attempt to divert attention from himself:

"I thought Reagan beat the commies! When are you dinosaurs gonna just wonder off into the woods and die? Commie Bashing is SOOOO 1980s!"

Reagan beat the Soviet Union, but what do you suppose happened to all the Marxists all over Europe, the US and Canada, who shilled for them all those years? Do you suppose they just went "POOF!" and vanished in a puff of greasy smoke? (We wish...)

MLD wants to shame anybody who mentions Marxism, because MLD himself is a neo-Marxist, and can't do his work of transforming Western culture into a Multiculturalist Paradise if anybody figures out that's what he is. Marxism is thoroughly discredited, you see, having produced regimes so murderous that the numbers of murders don't even seem real, they're so large. So MLD can't afford to have people around who call him what he is.

Anybody who wants to read a thorough, scholarly analysis of what actually happened to the western Marxists after the demise of the Soviet Union should read David Horowitz' "Unholy Alliance." Horowitz, who knew a number of the western Marxist leaders personally, offers a serious analysis of how Marxism evolved into neo-Marxism, and even follows the careers of individual Marxist organizers. It's a tough read, but full of important information.

Oh, and all the journalists that the Kremlin went to so much trouble to infiltrate into the western press? Where do you suppose they went after the Soviets collapsed?

Answer: nowhere. They're still there.

Scary thought, eh?

Say that in front of a Kurd
Robert shows his heartlessness as well as his ignorance:

"Saddam did almost nothing to the Kurds after Desert Storm. "

Uh huh.

Go say that in front of a group of Kurdish men... but don't blame me for what happens to you if you do.

The US abandonment of the Iraqi resistance against Hussein after Desert Storm was one of the great shames of our nation -- a REAL shame, in which real people died, not like the faked hysteria of leftist alarm about Bush's Iraq strategy.

Virginia Patriot warns of Rudy loss
"When he loses, don't blame us, we tried to warn you."

Don't you mean if he wins, becomes POTUS and fails us?

also...CAN you be blamed if Hilary becomes POTUS over Rudy... if proved stay at home conservatives swung the election?

Lets hope the primary process makes the issue mote. Lots of time after for friendly fire debates:)

Useful Idiots
Robert - Do only Republicans lie? Or are their lies the only ones with which we need concern ourselves? It must be nice living in a fantasy land where you were made safer by Clinton's sale of American Technology to the Chinese.

MLD - Why do you even bother? Do you derive some psychotic pleasure from constantly being proven wrong? When are you going to stop being a racist? When are you going to stop living in your neoliberal fantasyland?

got a sick feeling....
in the pit of my stomach. John is absolutely correct when he says Rudy is exactly like Billy boy... I would hate to vote for someone who is just as sleazy as the Clintons and try to justify that I'm voting Republican. There has to be someone out there with some sort of moral values... Please tell me there is....

Keep Your Eye on the Bottom Line
Get real, conservatives! The only two Republican candidates who have a chance of defeating Hillary or Barack are Romney and Giuliani. They aren't perfect but there's no Reagan conservative running with any conceivable chance of winning. The adultery smear is fine--if you're talking about electing a pastor to the Methodist Church. Need I mention the horny presidents of the last five decades starting with FDR, Johnson, Kennedy, and Clinton? In fact Jimmy Carter was probably the most faithful husband, after Reagan, and many of us wish that he had had a mistress on the side because he did a lot of damage to this country in four years. I submit what is important in this election is national security, the economy, immigration, taxes, and self-sufficiency in energy. Other issues are important to me, too, including the right to life and preserving the traditional meaning of marriage between a man and a woman, but the most important issue is to keep these tax-crazy, environmental wacko, affirmative action, see-no-evil-anywhere liberals out of the White House!

Republican or Conservative?
TH is a Republican site, and the regulars here keep on pushing the brand, hoping that if we do the same thing once again, we will achieve a different result. Einstein set the record straight on that, the definition of insanity!

It is about time we wake up and recognize the scam being pulled on us all. We have been manuevered into a liberal/conservative battle that has elevated partisanship way above leadership, all with the cleverly hidden purpose of keeping power in the hands of the elites. The DEM/GOP/MSM propaganda machines are hard at work this election cycle because they fear, more than anything else, an independent President who will crash the party, expose the corrupt hustlers and the agenda that they are pursuing of power, fame, and wealth.

If you are really ready to restore the founding principles of this nation and reassert the authority that we have as the owners of this great nation, I urge you to visit my website, JOEOLIVAFORPRESIDENT.ORG. It is the only place you will find a thorough accounting of how the elites have accured such tremendous power to themselves and how we can reverse that trend before it becomes impossible to do so.

This is the election in which we need to stand up to those who have hijacked the future we are handing off to our kids for their own agendas. Check out the site, why not? The elites have already stolen our inheritance, and the question is, what do we intend to do about it other than the same old same old. Comments on the site always welcome. Thanks, Joe

I should haveknown better
than to respond to Robert. Usually, I don't read him and urge others to also avoid him. His responses ar so angry, inconsistent and skewed. It is difficult to know those values for which he consistently stands except that he is angry and anti- conservative, has a unenviable record on values and morality (in fact strikes quickly at matters of values) and according to others has a dubious record of honesty regarding his status.

I'm in the same boat
I will support Rudy if he is our nominee, and I will vote for him against Hillary and urge everyone to do the same because Hillary would be a DISASTER for this country. That being said, I PRAY we nominate someone besides Rudy.

I used to be more pro-Rudy, and honestly, he HAS accomplished many good things, even many conservative things. He would probably be an improvement on Bush simply because he is more articulate and efficient - in NYC, he pretty much did everything he pledged he would do, and if he said he'd build a border fence, for example, it would actually get done vs. the lack of action on the part of the Bush administration.

All that being said - I am deeply bothered by his pro-choice stance, his cheating on his spouse, and so on. I would much rather see a guy like Mitt Romney, who, while he may not agree with me theologically, at least is a guy I'd like for a neighbor. My candidate of choice is Duncan Hunter, but my second choice right now is Romney.

BTW, I do respect Ron Paul, John McCain, etc., but for a variety of reasons I don't think they are as credible, though I think McCain has enough independent appeal that he'd probably be the best choice to beat Hillary, so I am watching him closely as well.

I agree
With John Hawkins. rudy would be our Bill Clinton, and also, Huckabee would be our Jimmy Carter.

One word that describes Rudy Guiliani.

Google Dr. Ron Paul
Folks, if you want someone who will be as far away from Clinton as you can pssible get, vote for Dr. Ron Paul. All I ask is that you do not listen to what you are being spoon fed by the main stream media and the pundits that write all these conservative articles. They have given up on Ron Paul because they think he is an underdog. Remember, Clinton was a nobody until well into the primaries. Wake up America, we have a candidate ever bit as good as Reagan in our midst and if we don't at least check him out and make our own decisions, we may be stuck with 4 more years of mediocrity in the White House again. Just google Ron Paul and see for yourself, you will like what you see! An honest, liberty loving and constitutional backing Republican, a doctor instead of a lawyer!! God Bless America and Ron Paul!!

The Deciders

The corporate owners of The Unified Establishment Party* are already shifting funding from Rudy to Hillary. They don't care which one wins. They win either way. The RNC and the DNC are two divisions under the same ownership. The cheap labor express will be kept running, regardless of the will of the people.

That is, unless we nominate and elect someone who actually WILL secure the border and enforce the laws. It's up to us to save the GOP from itself and bring it back to its principles. The "handlers" have to be shown the door by voting your conscience in the primaries. Stop listening to the spin and hype, decide for yourself who best represents your values. If a cross-dressing, former mayor of a sanctuary city who marches in gay pride parades reflects your values, vote for Rudy. If that does not reflect your values, figure out who does and vote accordingly. We can nominate someone other than the MSM's choice. It's our country, we are the deciders.

Robert
You get an FU!

LOL, Nee!
Yeah, when I read this it sure sounded to me like Hawkins has been checking in at my blog.

All except the part about voting for the Bald Hillary is he gets the nomination. No way will I do that!

Rudy - Reagan
Guiliani is like Reagan regarding taxes, reducing the size of government, lowering crime, reducing welfare and believing in a strong military. The military not withstanding, he did these things in one of the most liberal cities in the country. Clinton is liberal on these issues. He vetoed Welfare twice. The nonsense social issues you speak of, with the exception of guns, have nothing to do with strong leadership. Yes, his endorsement of Cuomo and gun restrictions were mistakes. However, Rudy has my vote and I'm part of the Reagan Revolution.

impeachment
"Yes, Bill Clinton was impeached for perjury, not for having an affair, but conservatives relentlessly bashed Bill Clinton throughout the nineties for cheating on his wife and degrading the office."

Of course, Giuliani at the time was siding with the liberals, as usual, and defending Bill Clinton. I don't know where the myth that Rudy is the enemy of liberals came from.

Doc et al
Did any of you hear about Johnny Sutton being in any sort of trouble?
My son in law just phoned, and said he was listening to Glenn Beck, and someone phoned in right at the end of the show, and said something about him and the other prosecutor being in big trouble. I have watch Fox, I'm listening to Rush, and searched the net. I can't find anything. Thought one of you all might have heard something. (not Robert the liar)

I hope it's true, and that he gets the book thrown at him.

Rudy G.
It is perfect. Once he is president he will be able to pardon Bernie Kerik. What a joke.

Has anyone else noticed how horrible our choices for the next president are?

Sad state of affairs for this great nation.

Throwing stones
Historical data presented by Hawkins is true. It is also true that Regan was a Democrat at one time - and, divorced! Don't know if he cheated; but, that is also history. Abortion talk by "holier than thou" folks puts my feet to sleep! The Supreme Court nominations & commitment to nominate strict constructionists is an admirable goal. Also, looking forward for the same commitment in regard to the second amendment - from Rudy.
How Hawkins can both smear Rudy and say that he'll vote for him is amazing. I'm looking for leaders .... Rudy has demonstrated his leadership skills. I would prefer that Hawkins puts positive spin on each candidate & compares those amongst them.

Steve L
As you rightly said, the Clintons will manufacture dirt on anyone who apposes them. Romney is clean as near as I can tell but that does not protect him or anyone else from the creation of lies. That is true for whoever faces the Clintons.

It is far worse to have a long history of ethical charges like Huckabee and a very obvious problematic personal life like Rudy. The manufactured lies have more credibility then.

If you run a large state or city like Rudy, Romney or Huck there are usually some minor audit issues. Those are normally understandable. Rudy's adultrygate looks very suspicious and his explanation is inadequate. So far nothing has surface on Romney. Huck has a long documented list of ethical challenges.

If there is anything on Romney, the Rudy forces will release it in the primary. Rudy is dropping in NH as I write. His only hope is to release dirt on Romney.

Jim E
Because our worst Republican is better than your best Democrat!!

Doc, Babe, and Nanna
An Israeli friend who seems to know about these things told me that Saddam gassed 100,000 Kurds. I'm pretty sure it was after GWB backed away.

Terrorists and their host nations must know that they cannot work on WMD with impunity. What if Iranian scientists developed an AIDS strain so virulent that it could be transmitted by mosquitos? Democracies tend to not sponsor such foolhardy endeavors.

I heard a reporter tell Lars LArson (I think it was Lars, at least it was on late night talk radio) that Sutton lied to a Federal Judge, telling him that the drug dealer (that was shot) was nothing but a poor mule trying to make five grand for his family. That was why they went so hard on the border agents. It would appear that new evidence has come out making Sutton look pretty bad and giving new hope for the border agents/prisoners.

For Boo Radley
We have an excellent candidate in Duncan Hunter.

But the the GOP establishment, which had its heart set on McCain, has decided it doesn't want a true conservative. They're still stuck in the thinking that they've got to woo moderates and independents but they can take conservatives for granted. So we get overdoses of McCain, Romney, and Giuliani while true conservatives like Hunter and Tancredo get short shrift.

The GOP may have to suffer another loss at the polls before they realize that the conservative base is their strength and if they lose the base they're done.

They don't even realize that what they telling the base is "We know you don't like anyone we're promoting, but they're all better than Hillary."

"Better than Hillary" isn't good enough for me.

My dog is better than Hillary.

And Babe
It doesn't matter where Rudy stands on the issues. He has no chance whatsoever of ever being elected. Hillary will destroy him, just like Romney did in their little exchange Wed. night.

You can either face the facts (and the tutus), or you can watch a landslide victory for the Dems all across the country. There is far too much at stake to put your chips on someone as questionable as RG.

One BIG difference...
I agree that some legitimate comparisons can be made between Bill Clinton and Rudy Giuliani.

However, there is one BIG difference: Bill Clinton won, but Giuliani probably won't. I hope Republicans will have better sense than to nominate him.

Huckabee problems
I read here allegations that Huckabee is unethical, immoral, liberal, etc. Please tell me some facts, not conclusions, to support those allegations.

Thanks.

Paul
Huckabee raised taxes several times because he said that medicaid needed it, because it was overloaded. It WAS overloaded, because he gave welfare to illegal aliens. He didn't want police to arrrest illegals, he wanted scholaships for illegal aliens.
He increased taxes by 505 million, /state spending went up over 65 percent. The obligation to debt rose by almost 1 billion.
He also called those who opposed his plans to give everything to illegal aliens,"racists and bigots"
He supports a federal ban on smoking. He wants to moniter your trans fats, etc. (a health nut)
He uis not a conservative, he is not a constitutionalist, he is an opportunist.
I lived in Arkansas. I did move over the border into Oklahoma, but I have always gotten my news from the Arksnsas television stations, and have family in Arkansas.
Don't believe Huckabee. Please.

PS
Roy Beck of Numbers USA says that Huckabee is bad news.
Peter Gadial president of 9-11 Famillies for a Secure America, sais "He scares the heck out of me"

Of course Robert
You know it all. You lived in Arkansas while he was Governor, You also know Phyllis Schaffly of Eagle Forum lies, and that Roy Beck of Numbers USA, and Peter Gadiel don't really want someone in the White house that would protect our borders, so they make up stories.
Or maybe you have Huckabee's personal records from Arkansas that you got as an undercover agent.
Or maybe you worked for him during those years, and so you know better.
Or maybe you are a stupid liberal that wants to argue about everything that would be good for this country.GO SUCK AN EGG!!!

Poor Rudy...

He will have a tough time if elected.

Everywhere he goes, Conservatives will be dragging a bed-of-nails in front of Rudy, waiting for him to trip.

Well
I answered Roberto, and when I got back, his remarks were gone!!
SOMEONE WONDERFUL HAS BEEN AT WORK!!

LOL, Carlos! Great idea!
Why wait?

Make them loooooong nails!

Heh heh heh, Nana
Christmas came early this year.....

like I was saying

Like I have said for some time, THOSE WHO HAVE BEEN IN THE TRENCHES as activists in the fight for enforcement of the immigration laws believe Mike Huckabee is our worst nightmare.

Sure you can find some political hacks who are Huckabee cheerleaders who claim that he supports enforcement of the immigration laws.

BUT IN HIS POLITICAL CAREER, whenever the issue of illegal immigration came up he was AGAINST enforcement of the law.

Any one who believes as I do that a cavalier dismissal of enforcement of our immigration laws will result in the United States ceasing to exist as a sovereign nation should be very concerned about the guy becoming Vice President.

Why Vice President you ask? If he actually were the Republican nominee for President, Hillary Clinton would clean his clock. (And as bad as she is, I might very well vote for her over Huckabee).

But he could wind up as Rudy's VP. If you want a pro illegal immigration ticket on the Republican side, that has got to be your dream ticket.

Can it be?
I was just about to write a post, but decided to refresh the screen first.

And - as if by magic - all of Frobusto's posts have disappeared! (Frobusto = Fraud Robert = Robert Robert).

Has his lying, arrogant behind finally been booted off Townhall? Did the JAG Corp finally arrest and charge him with violations of the UCMJ as he so richly deserves?

Or did the men in the white suits in the VA psych ward take away his laptop?

I certainly think Townhall should provide some answers to these important questions.

Inquiring minds want to know!

Robert

Yeah, if nanna didn't live in Arkansas, he/she can't possibly know Huckabee's record as governor.

Do you live in a cave or something?

But you still ought to be familiar with modern communications technology- your cave is obviously wired for the internet.

whoops
I seem to have committed a gaffe.

America is not for limited government
Remember the problem is the American people.

Conservatives may never be able to get the American people to elect a truly conservative small government majority in Congress. The best we can do is to apply the brakes to Big Government until we win the hearts and minds of the American voters.

Most Americans want free education and free healthcare paid for by other Americans.

Fortunately most of these people do not vote every election.

Remember we need to pick the most electable Conservative politician who will win over the independents and women (who are middle of the roaders and who have to be reminded that Big Government is NOT their friend).

This is why Reagan was great. He understood that you need to CONVINCE the masses that Government was a BAD guy trying to spent THEIR money and that liberals were BAD because they didn't care if criminals were set free to rob and rape again.

Romney has the potential to be another Reagan.
His performance this week in the debate reminded me of Reagan.

Roberto
Like a bad cankered penny, you keep coming back.
Yes, I did live in Arkansas for many years. Then about 13 years ago, I moved to Oklahoma, but only about 20 or 25 miles out of the state of Arkansas. Much of my family is still in Arkansas. I know what Mike Huckabee is, and what he's done.
You're just a real jerk. If I were singing his praises, you would be saying he's awful.
You ignorant, insigificant, nincompoop. Go soak your head in some smart juice or something that would make everyone's life more bearable.

No mention of his using the cops as
Judy's chauffeurs for their secret rendevous?

Rudy got laid. New York paid!!!

Get used to that one, "values voters!"

Frobusto (aka, "Fraud Robert")
I see Frobusto has been allowed back. I wonder if TH gave him another chance or if he has somehow switched IP addresses.

At any rate, our vacation was short-lived - and I see he has managed to alienate another in "nanna."

And now he's off for some "night flight action"! I wonder if that means he's going bat watching.

Romney No Reagan
Romney is no Reagan. Health care for everyone at the tax payers' expense? He governed Massachusetts like the liberal he is.

After reading the 1st paragraph
The difference between Rudy and Bill and their womanizing:

Rudy never raped or sexually assaulted anyone.

Carry on.

I'm going to read the rest of the article now.

There are three
viable conservatives running. Fred Thompson, Duncan Hunter, and Tom Tancredo.

Romney is not, though I think he is better than Rudy, or the Huckster.

Huckabee Surge
Huckabee has wrapped himself in his religion. In his own commercials he claims his religion is his identity. That helps him in a fragmented primary race with about 1/2 of the Evangelicals. However, it also places a ceiling on his appeal.

The new ARG poll in IA does not show any additional momentum for Huck. With new developments he may take another rise but for right now he has stopped rising in IA.

In NH he is gaining but the polls show wide swings for McCain and Huck. That has more to do with how the independent vote is treated than with reality. If you have a loose screen for independents McCain does better and Huck does poorly. If you have a tight screen Huck does better with rank and file Reps. Huck will have a ceiling in NH. He is not going to win it. However, he may run ahead of Rudy but behind McCain. That could be very bad for Rudy. If lots of Indys vote Rep that helps McCain,Rudy, Ron Paul and Romney. If they don't it helps Romney and Huck. Romney has broad appeal and his GOTV will be getting every early vote that they can.

In the South Huck is taking the religious conservatives away from Fred. That splits the hard core Southern vote. That lowers the bar for Romney, McCain and Rudy. The South will be a free for all as long as Fred figures out how to run a campaign. In other words, Romney and Rudy have a better chance winning in the South with Huck and Fred dividing up the "Southern" vote.

Money and organization then become the key success factors for winning the South.

rudy vs the missus clinton
affairs of the heart are always difficult to understand. Since none can explain the reason their relationship lasted or why it failed it is always perilous to project wqhat goes on in others. It would seem that rudy seems enthralled with the chase and conquest while the missus clinton is engaged in relationship based more on a business venture than an affair of the heart. But perhaps both are at opposite ends of the marriage spectrum and perhaps both can serve as erxamples of hazzards of the heart we shpould all avoid. But if I had to chose I suppose rudy's way might be more preferable. At least he seems happy whioch is far more than the missus clinton appears with her public face

Tell the Truth...

When we saw the breaking News of Hillary's campaign bomber...

Did the name "Robert" pop into your heads.

Paul
Huckabee voted in favor of civil unions. The problem with him doing that is insisting that the rest of us show the love of Christ to illegal aliens and "not punish the children for the crimes of their parents" by offering in state tuition to illegals.

Translation....all America must follow the scriptures Huckabee agrees with while ignoring the scriptures stating "he who doesn't look after the welfare of his own family (americans) is worse than an unbeliever". Let's not get into all the verses dealing with homosexuality which is clearly condemned as well as condemning the man that teachers others to sin. In Huckabee's case, he endorsed civil unions, thus supporting it, clearly violating God's will.

He is also on the hot seat for talking about a national ban on cigarettes. Once again, because 'he' lost weight and 'he' insists our bodies are temples of the holy spirit, 'he' thinks 'he' can legislate that for all americans? What next? Fast food? Alcohol? Chewing gum?

His open support of illegals and the massive benefits he gives on the backs of Arkansas taxpayers to show the love of Christ is unfair. That should be a personal choice. He is free to donate his money if that's what he believes. I personally follow the scripture of taking care of my own household first. His translation of the love of Christ is giving more of my paycheck to illegals and bringing home less to support my own children. I can't afford to send my own kids through college yet Huckabee finds it important for me to send my 'neighbor' through college? No thanks! I'll take my chances on the mormon.

Huck and ethics part 1
Some one ask for documentation on Huckabee ethic charges. Quin Hillyr noted the following:

"Once, Gov. Huckabee even had the gall to file suit against the state ethics commission. He lost.

Fourteen times, the ethics commission -- a respected body, not a partisan witch-hunt group -- investigated claims against Huckabee. Five of those times, it officially reprimanded him. And, as only MSNBC among the big national media has reported at any real length, there were lots of other mini-scandals and embarrassments along the way.

He used public money for family restaurant meals, boat expenses, and other personal uses. He tried to claim as his own some $70,000 of furniture donated to the governor's mansion. He repeatedly, and obstinately, against the pleadings even from conservative columnists and editorials, refused to divulge the names of donors to a "charitable" organization he set up while lieutenant governor -- an outfit whose main charitable purpose seemed to be to pay Huckabee to make speeches. Then, as a kicker, he misreported the income itself from the suspicious "charity."

Huckabee has been criticized, reasonably so, for misusing the state airplane for personal reasons. And he and his wife, Janet, actually set up a "wedding gift registry" (they had already been married for years) to which people could donate as the Huckabees left the governorship, in order to furnish their new $525,000 home."

Thanks for reminding me about the ethics committee. Had a senior moment, and let it get by me temporarily.

"I live in Arkansas and have lived here under Clinton and Huckabees tterms of Govenor. He is every bit as bad as the critics are saying and even worse. We have a 6% tax on food and hen it went to the peokle for a vote to abolish it, he was on tv and wrote articles in the newspaper that the tax money went to fund tution for students who could not afford college. He was right, but what we found out later it was for illegal immigrants to go to college. He is for Ammensty and has always been and always will be. He put a tax and Nursing home beds of $5.25 each. We pay more tax on gasoline than Texas. If it moves or breathes he taxed it.Even if it doesn't move he raised property taxes. All this in light that many people come here to retire & are fixed incomes. Our rate pay here is lower than most states. We have a Beautiful state is why we endured Huckabee. Although we do have more people leaving than moving here now. Just thought you might want to know first hand what kind of Governor he was and as President & more money & more people to tax he will be in Hog Heaven(No pun intended)"

The charges against Huckabee are well documented. Furthermore, Huckabee claims to have reduced taxes but, in fact the tax decreases were tiny while there were many huge tax increases and taxes went up 47 percent under Huckabee. The Cato Institute gave him an F for his fiscal stewardship during his final term. Instead of being the honest conservative he claims to be he has proven to be a dishonest big spending liberal.

FRED WINS!
I believe his conservatism will win the day once the voters step inside the voting booths! Go, Fred, Go! And forget all these naysayers talking about late arrivals etc. Most Americans are more than tired of all the crap they have been exposed to for way toooooooooo long. CapeConservative agrees with your every word!!!

Tax Hike Mike
Actually Mike Huckabee is worse than Clinton. In 2004 the Cato Institute gave Huck a D for tax policy. They gave him an F in 2006.

Clinton's worst grade from Cato was a D.

If Rudy is our Clinton then Huck is our Carter.

Rudy isn't conservative
Hawkins is totally correct. Why ANY conservative would get behind Giuliani and not Romney (the only other candidate who stands a chance) I will never know. If Rudy gets the nomination, there will be some serious conservative regret.

I only pray
That the truth gets out about Huckabee in all the right places. Many Evangelicals are falling for his lies.
He and chuck Norris have been on Fox several times, and that awful Dick Morris keeps pushing him. ( I think Dick Morris is a democrat plant) ha ha.
Just hope that people's eyes are opened soon!!

Huckabee problems
Thanks Nanna and Kathleen and BG (and Debora and Kelly).

The Iowa debate was the first I've seen. Huckabee fooled me completely. He seemed so genuine, especially compared to Rudy and Mitt.

I looked up the ethics stuff. Compared to anybody else running for state office, 14 or 15 beefs with only one penalty of $1000 isn't much. I also know the governor of a state doesn't set tax policy and rates all by himself. He's a main man but he has a house and senate to deal with as well. He can't sign a law that isn't presented to him.

I do believe your complaints about him, though.

Fred seems like he wants out. Nappy and uninterested.

Does Tancredo have anything to recommend him besides immigration?

Does Duncan Hunter have a personality?

So what do we do now?

Geez Hawkins
It IS alright to say you would never vote for Giuliani no matter what. If your vote is automatic, who cares what you think?

Paul
I believe if you really pay attention to Fred Thompson, you will be very impressed. He isn't the type to get excited about anything. He won a seat in the Senate, by being exactly the way he is now. He speaks the truth, no spinning.

He wouldn't go through all this mess of having to run for President if he didn't rreally want it. He is a Christian man, though he doesn't brag about it. He is very religious.

He's just a true conservative, southern gentleman. Not a liar, that drones on and on about how religious he is. Roy Beck at Numbers USA said his immigration plan blew him away.

Do You Want To Keep Your Country?

We the People of the United States of America have the right to have our borders and our laws respected and enforced.
If we wish to keep our representative Republic, and our rule of law, we must elect a President who WILL secure the borders and enforce the laws. The actions of the next President will determine the fate of this great nation. If citizenship becomes meaningless, this will no longer be the United States of America.

The primary responsibility of the U.S. government is to protect the territorial integrity and people of this country. They have completely abdicated this responsibility. Both parties have been complicit in this. We are being told it is not possible to control our borders, enforce our laws, and thereby control our destiny as a nation. Hogwash. We are being sold out by corporations intent on importing workers for jobs that can't be exported with the taxpayers paying the true costs, financial and human. If we act like sheep and don't stop the inundation across our borders, we will lose our country without a bleat.

http://www.gohunter08.com

Duncan hunter is a great candidate
I would love for him to win. But he does not have the funding. Even if he won the 1st primary, he would be out of money. I will vote for Ron Paul. And Ron Paul has more support than the media wants to admit. If he really had no chance, then McCain would not be attacking him, and the media wouldn't be dogging him.

Why Hunter hasn't the money
Since one of his main financiers, shell defense contractor Brent Wilkes, is currently under indictment in the Duke Cunningham case, Hunter has had to turn to legitimate sources for funding - and come up empty.

Regularization Rudy and the Huckster are phony conservatives who embrace ILLEGALS-- THAT TEARS IT RIGHT THERE. For those taken in by Huckster's seeming piety, do you remember Jimma' Carter? He was a horrendous liar and mean as a snake; word is that Huck also has a vindictive streak, even as he clutches that bible. It is a shame that Fred stumbled late out of the gate, because he truly has some well articulated strategies for ILLEGALS, taxes, etc. Time is shorter than most realize to stanch the ILLEGAL invasion-- we will lose America if we fail to do so.

http://www.fred08.com/virtual/Immigration.aspx

Notwithstanding his laid back style, Fred would seem to offer many things to true conservatives including fiscal restraint and opposition to govt. incursion, thoughtful solutions to key challenges, traditional social values, court appointments, experience on the national stage, and a true willingness to turn around the ILLEGAL invasion... rather like Duncan Hunter with perhaps some chance to win.

Reality Check
Stop and think about this. Romney runs daily tracking polls in IA. He has known for months exactly what Huckabee's strength is and who is providing it. He has let Huck develop. 2 weeks ago Romney was managing expectations downward.

1. There is a reason and it is not that Romney is going to lose to Huck. He could have knocked Huck back anytime he wanted to.

Huck has a D and an F rating on taxes from the Cato institute for 2004 and 2006. That is worse than Clinton every did. Huck is worse than Clinton on taxes. Huck has a long list of legitimate ethical charges and convictions. Corruption is just starting to emerge as the new wedge issue in the primary.

2. Romney understood that Huck could be used as a stalking horse to totally kill any chance Fred had. Fred has more money and more national support than Huck. Fred has also blown every strategic move he should have made. Fred should have attacked Huck 3 or more weeks ago vigorously. Romney let Fred blow the IA strategy which allows Huck to split the Southern vote which helps Romney.

3. Romney will sink Huck at the right time. Fred should have done it 3 weeks ago but whoever is running Fred's campaign is clueless.

4. Rudy is losing and going to lose IA, NH and SC. He is planning on starting his real campaign in FL. With Huck dividing the South and killing Fred that benefits both Romney and Rudy and they both let Huck rise in IA to do just that.

5. Huck is a problem for Romney in IA but he can deal with it. Huck does not have the money to compete nor the GOTV (nor time and money to develop the GOTV) he needs in NH and MI. Romney will beat him in the long run anyway but he will get him in IA before very long.

6. Romney is letting the expectations shift to Huck so that when he beats him Romney will get a big bounce.

Huckabee & a competition for schoarships
Now it is clear that the supposed "tuition for illegals" was in fact, an academic competition for scholarships in Arkansas.

Mike Huckabee said that if the scholar was 5 years old or under when his illegal parents came to the US, he would be eligible to compete (compete) for a scholarship, not receive an automatic tuition.

My info is from a Michael Medved broadcast.

Scholarship competition, not tuition
Now it is clear that the supposed "tuition for illegals" was in fact, an academic competition for scholarships in Arkansas.

Mike Huckabee said that if the scholar was 5 years old or under when his illegal parents came to the US, he would be eligible to compete (compete!) for a scholarship, not receive an automatic tuition.

Scholarship competition & not tuition???
Now exactly what was this scholarship money spent on?

From where did this scholarship money come?

I can dress my cat up in a dog suit -- but she is still a cat.

Regardless of whether the awarding of this money that was used to reduce the cost of college was based upon financial need, academic achievement, or physical characteristics – it was still an award of a financial benefit to the family of lawbreakers. This financial benefit did not grow on a special tree in Arkansas – it came out of a limited pool of taxpayer dollars – and if the illegal was given the money – a legal resident went without.

So maybe that legal resident didn’t merit the academic achievement award but still was accepted to college. Shouldn’t they be getting assistance before the illegal?

Also, as I am paying tuition for a legal resident – it isn’t just the kid who benefits from the tuition breaks but the entire family.

Medved is a shill for the cheap labor express. He thinks anyone wanting enforcement of our laws is a xenophobic, nativist, racist, restrictionist, anti-immigrant bigot. He supports surrender (amnesty).

The Grim Truth
....This outcome is avoidable only if Republicans understand the sources of their unpopularity. Conservatives tend to blame their travails on Republican politicians’ missteps and especially on their inability to communicate. But the public’s unhappiness with Republicans goes much deeper than any such explanation. A mishandled war, coupled with intellectual exhaustion on the domestic front, has soured the public on them. It is not just the politicians but conservative voters themselves who are out of touch with the public, stuck in the glory days of the 1980s and not thinking nearly enough about how to make their principles relevant to the concerns of today. Unforeseen events could yet change the political environment radically. As it stands, Republicans are sleepwalking into catastrophe....

The Grim Truth
*************************************************

Although the term idealogue is hackneyed/overused, many social conservatives expect too much: if you get hung up hoping to stop abortion or fretting about gays or school prayer, you might elect Shrillary. You CAN get consensus on stopping ILLEGALS (> 70% feel STRONGLY), fiscal responsibility, trying to limit govt. encroachment & growth, and eschewing foreign entanglements w/o a CLEAR benefit to America. Watch ILLEGALS become THE issue this time... it has been simmering, but is beginning to boil because the remote PC "elites" (many pols, MSM, the libs) do not get it, BUT Peoria DAMM sure does!

Mitt, Fred, and Hunter are all SAYING the right things here-- Regularization Rudy, the Huckster, and Juan McQuisling have wandered off the reservation of reason on ILLEGALS. I have been heartened by the HUGE change in media coverage: we first had to get the attention of Sean, Rush, Glenn, and blase O'Reilly; the MSM, which had nonchalantly called them "undocumented workers," now properly calls them ILLEGALS. We pummeled scamnesty recent attempts in Congress... the worm has turned.

reply to: aDNA
"Now it is clear that the supposed "tuition for illegals" was in fact, an academic competition for scholarships in Arkansas." [and ILLEGALS amigo, "open border Medved" is your source authority?!?!]

Your point being?!?! Should we award intelligent convicts with scholarships so they can improve their lots in life? Whether it be free/reduced cost in-state tuition or scholarships, it is PREPOSTEROUS that somebody here ILLEGALLY might receive the benefit, especially given that most CITIZENS do not. ILLEGALS invade and pervade due to bennies --> jobs and freebies.

The left LOVES to give them perks because it gradually legitimizes them, but few in Middle America fall for shell games like drivers licenses as a ticket to voter fraud and tacit acceptance. NO jobs, NO freebies--> NO STAY! Vamanos! America CANNOT AFFORD to allow uneducated, indigent ILLEGALS to remain en masse; EACH such household will drain > $1 MILLION in net govt. services used over taxes paid (when they actually start paying taxes!) per Heritage.

Prayer?
Many on this board say they "pray" Giuliani won't be the candidate. You'd all better do more than pray!

Pure speculation
The author has no more knowledge of what Giuliani would do with regards to his "moral" actions as President than anyone else, so to say he would do this or not do that is pure speculation.

However, what isn't speculation is the platform on which Giuliani is running. It is the most free market capitalist platform of any of the candidates. On taxes, on trade, on education, on health care, on government spending, on Social Security: Giuliani favors greater individual choice and less government intrusion. Those are facts. Give me facts over speculation any day.

The CFR Candidates
Don’t you just love the choices the CFR has given us for the President of the United States.

On the RNC side, we got Romney, Giuliani, McCain, Huckabee and Thompson but he does not seem to be a hard core CFR puppet like the previous four.

On the DNC side we have Hillary, Obama, Richardson, Biden but Hillary is going to be their nominee because she has enough money to buy everyone off and besides she has been anointed by the CFR long ago.

The orchestrated CFR presidential elections started about a year ago with rigged MSM polls telling us all the inevitable selections have already won. It is going to be Hillary Vs Giuliani the MSM declared.

One problem, thanks to the internet, conservatives are starting to see just what terrible candidates are being shoved down our throats. Every single CFR candidate selection is for open borders, Free Trade, and a one world Government! What a surprise.

Rush Limbaugh’s post debate commentary pointed out the frontrunners were all liberal republicans except for Fred Thompson.

CNN was allowed to denigrate the Republican Party in prime time. Unlike past elections, the Communist News Network is pulling out the stops to rig another election for a CFR candidate.

Hawkins is right about Rudy, he is worse than Bill Clinton. Did you hear him lie about Sanctuary Cities? He could not even bring himself to admit he sued the Supreme Court to keep his city a sanctuary city. Did you see him do the rope a dope on the second amendment? Unbelievable.

The CFR Candidates cont'd
The emergence of Mike Huckabee out of “no where” is the CFR backup candidate for them if the conservatives started to smell a rat. The RNC polled real republicans and to find out what they really wanted in a presidential candidate and sent Huckabee out there to lie through his teeth.

All the issues we care about; Immigration, Taxes, Abortion, Second Amendment, Huckabee was given his marching orders.

Anyone that has not lived in a cave knows Huckabee is a charlatan.

He is joined at the hip of the CFR and Global Government. He interfered in an INS investigation with Tyson Chicken allowing 6,000 illegals brought to this country by Tyson coyotes. He brought a Mexican Consulate to little rock to hand out Matricular Consular cards and gave them an office suite for 1.00 a year rent. He gave speeches at LULAC calling conservatives that want our immigration laws enforced racists and xenophobes. He gave college tuition to lllegals. He gave them the Arkansas version of SCHIP and free health care.

There are three candidates that are not CFR puppets Tancredo, Hunter and Ron Paul. Sadly, the RNC is doing everything It can to make sure they will not be our nominee and so is the MSM including FoxNews. Rupert Murdoch is even campaigning for Hillary!

re: ScottyDog
Come on, you really believe in this supposed Council on Foreign Relations conspiracy? There is no conspiracy, and Tancredo & Hunter are not failing to get Republican support because of the media, so-called "elites", or the Council on Foreign Relations. Huckabee has plenty of reasons not to support him, but he's not getting "marching orders" from anyone.

Sometimes, things are exactly what they seem. The candidates getting the most support for President are getting that support because more people believe them to be qualified for the office, agree with their platforms, etc. -- NOT because of any conspiracy.

Thank you Mr. Novak

I'm just so thankful that someone besides Phyllis Schlafly of Eagle Forum is on to Mike Huckabee!!
I have been screaming this for a long long time. He IS NOT a conservative. What this "preacher" doesn't understand is you can go to hell for lying just as quick as you can for any other sin.

He has lied from the beginning. He believes in big government, he almost ruined the conservative party in Arkansas, and left the Republican party in shambles. He wanted the illegal aliens to have the vote for cryin' out loud. He wanted scholarships for illegals, and didn't want the police to arrest them. He left Arkansas deep in debt. Raised taxes, because the illegals were eating up welfare, and medicaid. He is an awful leader.

************************************************
In his 2005 State of the State address, he complained that a Hispanic student was not able to get financial aid because he was an illegal alien. Huckabee supported a 2005 bill to make some illegal aliens eligible for scholarships and
in-state college tuition. Huckabee vehemently opposed a 2005 bill which would deny state benefits to illegal immigrants, calling it "un-Christian." Huckabee argued that illegal immigrants pay more in taxes than they receive in benefits.

re: bc3
Nice job of ad hominem attack, broad generalization, distortion, and false association. Sorry, though, not good enough. Not intellectually honest, not factually correct.

First of all, where did I say that "it's all about the almighty dollar ... To hell with everything else"? Answer: nowhere. What I do advocate, however, is a government that functions towards its purpose: to protect individual liberty. I do advocate individual choice in place of government intrusion. If you're denigrating that stand, apparently you're in favor of LESS individual choice and MORE government intrusion.

Rudy would not stand in front of
the cameras and lie to the Am. public that he did not "have sex" with that woman.

He may not be perfect, but none of the other candidates suffer from perfection either.

However, Giuliani was a strict low and order prosecutor who has said he will close the Southern border to start to deal with illegal immigration problems.

He would not kowtow or cave to world tyrants like N. Korea's despot or Iran's anti-semite. He would not allow military humiliation for the US military and its worldwide missions.

Pairing him with Fred Thompson or Huckabee might make him more palatable to the "values" Reps., but they should not kid themselves that they will ever find another Reagan. It isn't going to happen.

Rudy has the name recognition, the draw for dissident Dems (many cannot stand the idea or either Hillary or Obama), and attraction for independents--40% of the electorate--that would carry him to the White House and give him coattails to bring NJ, NY, PA, CA, and the New Eng. states back to Rep. columns. Then you won't have to worry about Ohio.

Sager comments on Huck
Huckabee is the opposite of a libertarian. As governor, he hiked taxes repeatedly and oversaw an explosion in state spending. He's explicitly running as a "different kind of Republican," positioning himself as the heir to President Bush's compassionate conservatism (a.k.a. big-government conservatism). His populist economic message includes expanding farm and alternative-energy subsidies and curbing free trade (to insulate us from the global economy).

And this former Baptist pastor has also put out an explicitly sectarian message: Vote for me because I'm the most Christian. In "Believe," an Iowa ad aimed at Romney (a Mormon), Huckabee declares, "Faith doesn't just influence me, it really defines me." Then the words "Christian Leader" float by an image of Huckabee walking down a dirt road.

Big-government, big-religion, globophobic, populist conservatism - this is the message that's got real traction in the first Republican primary. Not Ron Paul's gold-standard nostalgia or support for medical marijuana.

If there's any redeeming irony here, it's this: This populist surge could end up nudging the GOP in a more libertarian direction after all. If Huckabee knocks out Romney in Iowa, the Republican nomination seems assured for Rudy Giuliani.

What Nonsense
Rudy does not have his security detail round women up for him. he has never been accused of rape and none of his wives hired private detectives to keep his multiple sexual partners quiet. The clinton Crime family has been engaged in systematic corruption and lawbreaking from the beginning. You might not like Rudy's positions but they are consistent and there's none of the Clinton, "I was always against the war" doubletalk. He is the only one of the candidates with a clear record of cutting taxes, government and crime. He has loudly opposed greedy public employee unions and loudmouthed activists. He did all this in the glare of the national media. We know him well enough to know what he will do and how he behaves. You might think he's too liberal, fine, that's valid, but to compare him to a pair of power-mad sociopaths is going too far. The truth is, we can only guess at what any of these others might do because they've only been in the national eye for a few months. We can take Al Sharpton's word that Rudy is anything but a liberal.

Look, RUDY LIED about
New York city not being a sanctuary city. He looked in the camera during the last debate (kind of looked away when Fred Thompson stated Rudy sued to keep New York Amnestyville.) Anyway, we don't need a divisive Hillary in office or another pro-amnesty RINO Republican in office.

We should not elect anyone who is in favor of comprehensive immigration reform. (Amnesty)

Rudy Giuliani
In 2000, the National Motorists Association awarded then-NYC mayor Rudy Giuliani the "Golden
Fleece" award for his policy of confiscating
peoples' cars on the mere suspicion of reck-
less driving, without any due process of law. If
that doesn't spell "vicious nanny statist", I
don't know what will.
American Citizens want to live as free adults,
not as childlike subjects. We can do without dra-
conian regulations, red-light cameras, surveillance cameras, and frivolous lawsuits against gun makers.
We Conservatives are ex-Liberals because we
reject the nanny state.

The Stupid Party
Another amnesty will result in Democrat majorities for decades, GOP voters know that, why doesn't the RNC? How stupid do you have to be to import voters for the opposition at the same time you alienate your own voters? Nominating any of the amnesty trio, McCain, Huckabee, Rudy is a losing proposition, we will not support them. If the GOP surrenders our sovereignty and abandons the rule of law, they will find in November 2008, that they still have their big money/cheap labor donors, but they do not have voters. GOP-RIP

Only Ron Paul Signed the AFA Pledge
I don't intend to "hold my nose" during this presidential election. Without further elaboration, here is my current ranking of the Republican candidates, according to my personal preferences:

1) Ron Paul
2) Fred Thompson
3) Duncan Hunter
4) Tom Tancredo
5) A Pile of Damp Compost
6) Mitt Romney
7) Raw Sewage
8) Rudy Guiliani
9) John McCain
10) Mike Huckabee

Virginia Patriot, you play a 0 sum game
I favor identifying and enumerating illegals who are here. I favor these illegals stepping forward and declaring who they are, where they came from, and what they are doing. I favor a very high fine and especially, closing the borders.

Those who do not comply to this must be arrested and deported on those grounds. This first gets rid of the most shady ones.

However, you play a zero sum game, Virginia Patriot. You make no room for other patriots. You have no thought for finding out who is here, and how many. You believe, and I appreciate your posts, that if citizenship is erased through continued illegals, than the rest of the rights mean nothing.

I am sorry, I feel this is a partial answer, but inadequate for the times ahead of us. We must preserve our right to the free excercise of religion and political speech, the right to life, we must preserve marriage from being deconstructed and we face many other catacalysmic issues in our time. They are not all predicated on your hobbyhorse. Again, we must find out who is here, as well as close the borders.

Is this cheap tuition for illegals?
I was pointing out a difference between the stories being circulated about Gov. Huckabee supposedly offering cheap tuition for illegals:

there was no tuition rate here, just elligibility to enter a CONTEST of academic achievement.

The stipulation was that, if the scholar was 5 or under when the parents illegally entered the USA, the student would be able to enter a competition with all the other students.

If the little scholar was say, 6, 7, 8 and up, he would be disqualified from being able to compete for this scholarship.

I am sensing a huge mischaracterization of this program. Michael is a fine source for news and commentary.

Our Clinton?
Lets see, Bill came to office with majorities in both houses and left with neither. The one that follows him comes to office with Republican majorities in both houses and leaves office with neither also!

Hey I think we have already had our Clinton.

aDNA
I have no desire to accomodate those who have entered illegally. Nor do I think it necessary to count them. We need to encourage them to go home by seriously enforcing our laws.

We need to insist on the equal protection, application and enforcement of the law or devolve into anarchy. Our Republic only functions if everyone follows the same rules. We should not change the laws to accomodate those breaking them. Not the illegal aliens, nor their employers.

Virginia Patriot
Fine! But it just isn't happening. 11 million people here illegally, comes out to some 500,000 per state. That erases my vote, and yours, handily.

I DO want to identify those here. I feel a 3 pronged approach is better--

close borders/enforce laws, enumerate illegals,
and voter ID.

I felt the Bush plan gave me some of this.

Have you had any success on a local level yet? Well, widen the stripe on your litmus test to include the ggggg grand daughter of a Virginia Patriot.

Virginians
Did you hear OsamaBLaden died, and was being beaten up at the pearly gates, and said, "Allah akhbar! I thought you said I would get 90 virgins?"

HE said, "I said 90 Virginians."

solutions to ILLEGALS crisis
First, body slam the pols who cater to them... there are signs that this is happening. Second, insist that EXISTING laws be enforced: build the wall, crack down on employers, and stop the freebies, including tuition. No jobs, no freebies --> NO STAY! Require proof of citizenship to function-- WE prove who we are CONSTANTLY for employment, travel, etc. Expired visas will not cut it! The possible threat of terrorism is yet another reason to require proof of a right to be visiting America.

No papers? Then NO job, NO apt., NO drivers licenses, NO social services. As Az. has done, kill bilingual education-- learn or return! Revamp LEGAL immigration to emphasize education and skill sets-- just as other countries do. NO PATHS TO CITIZENSHIP-- PERIOD! Let them go back and start from scratch-- most would not qualify to return! Reinterpret the 14th as intended; just as children of diplomats born here are not citizens, ILLEGAL madres should not be able to push out excuses for family welfare.

A nation which loses its borders and sovereignty ceases to be a nation; America is too special to lose to an invasion of the willfully culturally disparate and ignorant indigent. We CANNOT be the welfare state for Latin America's socio-economic failures and plutocratic governments.

However, I think your column frankly sucks.

Let us go through our checklist, Rudy-style:

1) Defense of the country - check
2) Cutting taxes - check
3) Spending - Check (a lot better then W's volunteering to be the next Chapaquiddick victim)
4) Tough on crime - Check
5) Treating Muslims as suspects - Check
6) Marriages? Please, the Clinton Satanic Mafia one has been a sham from Day One. Last I knew, Rudy was not accused of rape, molestation, grabbing boobs or killing cats and slashing tires when his "wife" was in charge of murdering people who might get in their way.

Rudy might not be perfect on the border, and there are many liabilities with all of the GOP field, but are you going to tell me if it is Rudy vs. The Bride of Satan, Stalin John or Barack Muslim that you would not pull the lever for him?

If not, then do not quit your day job. Your night one sucks.

Really, then how do you explain that every top tier candidate is a CFR member?

Explain why in all the debates the CFR candidates get the most air play to the exclusion of the other non CFR candidates. In the FoxNews debate, Chris Wallace did not call on any of the "second tier" in his first Q and A segment.

Why have all the major networks gone out of the way to attack Ron Paul, Tom Tancredo and to a certain extent Duncan Hunter?

FoxNews is now pushing Mike Huckabee now that Rudy is falling in the polls. FoxNews was practically on Giuliani’s campaign staff for the last 6 months. BTW-The CFR is not a conspiracy, In the last Twenty years, every single President has been a member of the CFR. The Cabinet Appointees have been over 80% CFR.

I thought that the conspiracy straw man was abandoned when Vicente Fox admitted he signed the SPP and supported the North American Union on Larry King. See and hear for yourself:

For an organization that claims it does not influence US Policy, they sure have a lot of influence by getting all their members elected to the highest office in the land and then are able to dominate the cabinets and administrations with their members. At least five Presidents (Eisenhower, Ford, Carter, Bush, and Clinton) have been members of the CFR

Coincidence? I do not think so my friend. Why do you think they call them Rockefeller Republicans? The CFR was founded by a David Rockefeller!

RUDY REFUSES TO ANSWER NYC QUESTIONS

Is Rudy nose diving?

MSNBC-Giuliani refused to take questions here today about allegations that travel expenses were picked up by obscure city offices when he was mayor of New York City.

“We’ve already explained it,” he said, walking past reporters after a town hall meeting.

Giuliani, who is normally friendly to reporters, bristled past them, and campaign staffers were unusually physical in keeping the press away. Several campaign aides told campaign reporters to return to the press area, and some of his security detail manhandled reporters. On other occasions, reporters have been free to video Giuliani as he is shaking hands and signing autographs after events, and he often informally takes questions from reporters.

More dirt on Rudy?
NW-In March 2005, a suicide bomber linked to Al Qaeda set off a massive explosion at a British school in Doha, the capital of Qatar. The attack came on the second anniversary of the U.S. invasion of Iraq and stunned officials in the tiny Persian Gulf kingdom. Until then, Qatar, homebase for the U.S. Central Command, had been relatively immune from acts of terror. Not long afterward, the country’s emir, Sheikh Hamad bin Khalifa Al-Thani, reached out to an international figure who was just then marketing his record as a fierce foe of terrorists: Rudy Giuliani. That July, Giuliani flew to Doha, visited the emir in his palace and, without a public announcement, entered into an unusual arrangement to provide the Qatari government with “strategic advice” on counterterror issues and protection of the country’s oil and gas pipelines, ports and other facilities.

CFR likes Giuliani's immigration stance
In an op-ed piece in yesterday's LA Times, Max Boot, Council on foreign Relations Senior Fellow, put Giuliani in the same league as Bush and McCain for his support of immigration (including illegal immigration). Read it at:

Whom on Election Day???
Here's the big question:
Should Republicans vote for WHOEVER is the Republican nominee in order to keep the Democratic nominee from winning? I still don't have a favorite Republican candidate--none particularly excites me--but I sure will vote for the Republican nominee. And I won't wast a vote on a third-party candidate no matter how politically attractive he might be to me.

Quite Unfair comparison
Rudy Giuliani`s mayoral record speaks for itself.
He is not my first choice to vote for, but these unfair and uncalled attacks on him and Romney baffles me. The only reason, will be to put the weakest candidate upfront and make it an easy win for the Democrats.
It seems, the conservatives are all looking for that very perfect candidate, Hello Madame Pres. Clinton.

What's Rudy really like?
Rudy went to court to try to evict Donna Hanover, to whom he was still married, from Gracie Mansion while Judy Nathan was sleeping overnight with him there. He failed. Beyond his long friendship and advocacy of Bernie Kerick, his business relationships with Middle Eastern countries which he intends to hold on to, and the fact that former admirers found him so arrogant and difficult that they called him Il Duce in City Hall, that alone is enough for me. What kind of a person is this man?
