9 Members of Congress Who Should Resign Right After Larry Craig

Will the Dems' health care Christmas Present to America be an improvement or detriment to our health care system?

There has been a lot of talk about Larry Craig's on again/off again decision to resign from Congress. Like most Republicans, I'm of the opinion that Craig should resign, but wouldn't it be great if he could take a few people with him?

Like who? Glad you asked! For starters, here are a few honorable mentions that probably deserve to be out of Congress -- or in jail if they're Republicans. Alternately, if they're Democrats, you can look forward to their serving in Congress for the next few decades.

Honorable Mentions: Hillary Clinton (D-NY), Congressman John Doolittle (R-CA), Senator Diane Feinstein (D-CA), Congressman Paul Kanjorski (D-PA), Congressman Jerry Lewis (R-CA), Congressman Patrick Kennedy (D-RI), Congressman Jim McDermott (D-WA), Senator Robert Menendez (D-NJ), Congressman Alan Mollohan (D-WV), Congresswoman Nancy Pelosi (D-CA), Senator Harry Reid (D-NV), Senator Chuck Schumer (D-NY), Senator Ted Stevens (R-AK), Congresswoman Maxine Waters (D-CA), Congressman Don Young (R-AK)

That's enough of the warm-up act. Let's move on to the dirtiest players in the game...

Senator David Vitter (R-LA) & Congressman David Calvert (R-CA): Maybe I'm a little old fashioned, particularly after the moral fecklessness of the Clinton years, but I've always thought that anyone caught using the services of a prostitute isn't fit to be in Congress.

Senator Patrick Leahy (D-VT): When "Leaky" Leahy was the Vice-Chair of the Senate Intelligence Committee, he regularly leaked sensitive classified information to the press in an attempt to undermine foreign policy decisions that he disagreed with. One of his leaks is believed to have actually gotten one of our Egyptian "assets" killed. He should have been sent to prison to break big rocks into smaller rocks for 20 years over his leaks, but instead he merely lost his seat on the Senate Intelligence Committee.

Congressman John Murtha (D-PA): The man congressional Republicans call "King Corruption" was an unindicted co-conspirator in the Abscam case -- who, upon being offered a bribe said he wouldn't take the money at that point, but might “change his mind”...“after we’ve done some business.” Despite his sleazy background, Nancy Pelosi supported Murtha in a failed bid for a leadership position in 2006 instead of urging him to retire from Congress.

Congressman Barney Frank (D-MA): Frank encouraged Larry Craig not to resign, which isn't surprising when you consider that Frank makes Craig look like Billy Graham on the moral front and yet he has hung around all these years. In case you don't remember, Frank used the services of a gay prostitute, allowed the man to move in with him, and then allowed the guy to run a prostitution ring out of his apartment.

Congressman William Jefferson (D-LA): Although he hasn't been convicted yet, he did end up with $90,000 of bribe money in his freezer. Unfortunately for the American people who want honorable members of Congress, but fortunately for "Cold Cash," "Mr. Freeze," or whatever you want to call him, being as crooked as a corkscrew didn't dissuade his congressional district from voting him back into office.

Congressman Alcee Hastings (D-FL): Back when Hastings was a judge, he was impeached by the House for bribery and perjury and removed from office. Amazingly or maybe not, given the sort of sleaze liberal districts tend to accept from their representatives, he went on to win election to Congress.

Senate Robert Byrd (D-WV): While it's always amusing to hear a Democrat chide the GOP for supposedly being racist and then turn right around and laud a former Exalted Cyclops from the KKK as the "conscience of the Senate," no former member of the KKK deserves to be a member of Congress.

Senator Ted Kennedy (D-MA): The man Rush Limbaugh refers to as "The Swimmer" is notorious for leaving Mary Jo Kopechne to drown to death while he waited 10 hours before telling anyone because he wanted to plot a media strategy. Had the man been anyone other than a Kennedy, he would have likely gone to jail for manslaughter instead of going back to the Senate.

Someone once said that, “Politicians, like underwear, should be changed often, and for the same reasons.” After reading this list, it’s easy to appreciate how on-the-mark that funny little quip turned out to be.

Mr. Hawkins
Why stop at them? It would be easier to list the ones who should stay. A few Republicans and no Dems.

So True!
And the latest roundup in New Jersey nets 12 more, 2 mayors and I think 2 congress.
Can we at least nominate NJ as the MOST CORRUPT state in the union?
Or is it Mexifornia?
It used to be Illinois, but they lost out.

Ditto Vic's comment
Senators Coburn and DeMint and the current governor of the state of South Carolina make a good argument for cloning of politicians.

One can also say that our current crop fairly represent their districts. That says a lot about those districts and people in general. I am going to get depressed thinking along these lines. The government we get is only as good as the people casting ballots. It also depends on only one vote per living breathing eighteen year old citizen registered but, we certainly don't want to start identifying voters or anything draconian and discriminatory as that. It might eliminate many of the major campaign fund contributors if voter rolls became accurate.

LOL, Vic. Bullseye!
Let's publish the Short List of those who should stay, and send the rest packing!

Waitaminnit! *USING* a prostitute?
--
Or *BEING* a prostitute?

Regarding Vitter and Calvert, the idea of a professional politician *paying* somebody to screw her / him instead of doing it as part of his duty as a "public servant"....

Well, I don't know about moral grounds, but doesn't something like that violate the Incumbent Party's union rules?

"The founding fathers, in their wisdom, devised a method by which our republic can take one hundred of its most prominent numbskulls and keep them out of the private sector where they might do actual harm."

..-- P.J. O'Rourke

In case of Barney Frank
he has never been convivted of any felony and the good citizens of Massachusetts have voted for him to serve in congress several times since that incident that happened 20 years ago. Isn't it due to citizens of Massachusetts to decide who they want to represent themselves rather than meanspirited republican pundit. maybe you should ask for them to resign from voting?

Not to talk about Chappaquiddick that happened almost 40 years ago. Is that the best you can do, after all repyblicans were cruising in bathrooms and visiting bordellos 40 minutes ago.

But like my friend said: you would never believe how much sex you can have on family values platform.

''Well, now'' - Sorry, but...
--
...while I've lived in the Garden State all my life, and much as I'd *love* to accept for New Jersey the honors for having the most corrupt government at every possible level down to Kindergarten Student Council, I'm afraid I can't.

Notwithstanding Newark and Camden ("America's Most Dangerous City," 2004 thru 2006), we've got absolutely *nothing* like New Orleans between the Delaware Bay and Staten Island, and nobody quite the equal of the Louisiana delegation to both houses of the Congress.

Hurricane Katrina, by drawing all the world's eyes to the Pelican State, has afforded the Crescent City and its environs an unfair advantage in publicity that the petty peculations of Sharpe James and the organized crime connections of every DemaGOP in Camden ("We don't elect Mayors in this town; we just run down the court calendar and pick the dude with the most indictments") simply can't match.

And, besides, we *expect* our local school boards to be run by corrupt and evil grafters.

We've found that no matter what clever crooks do to the community's schools and property tax base, the impacts are better - *FAR* better - than the results we get when we elect sincere, altruistic Teachers' Union members to the same posts.

Van,
You're example couldn't be any better proof that Forrest Gump was right. Stupid is as Stupid does.
Democrats like you are ALWAYS the perfect poster boys for proving that remark.

Where corruption is standard practice
Is it any wonder why the Congress is held in contempt -- favorable ratings far less than the Presidents?

The whole Congressional setting -- asured pensions, et al -- suggests trotting out the guillotine and removing heads.

Test this by considering the fact that the Congress is championing the homosexual agenda and the education by States (such as California) to indoctrinate children on the homosexual lifetsyle -- including bisexuality -- in the name of "toleration".

But this arm of evil reaches into the Supremes in their progressiveness -- and certainly into the office of the VP Chaney -- whose daughter lesbianism is paraded by child bearing to push the homosexual agenda.

The promlem of the Iraq War -- and the confrontation with Islamist radicalism pales when compared to the cultural harm being sustained by the moral corrupttion at every level of government sustained by the homosexual agenda!

mASSachusettes.

Isn't that that the same state that reelected noted pedophile Gerry Studds over and over?

And didn't the Dhimmicrats CHEER and CLAP for Studds after he got back from Morrocco after having gay sex withn his 17 y.o. page?

I wonder just how "clean" your elections are up there. I have it from a good authority (Mass res) that Chappaquiddick Teddy rigs his elections by using union drones to "force" his opponents out of the election or risk going bankrupt.

What a wonderful state, glad I don't live there.

For van and other barney frankers
Why don't you and the other homosexuals take a strong proactive stand against NAMBLA, denounce child molestation and take the lead in the fight against pedophilia?

Dear TH
What's with the double posts?

Dear TH
What's with the double posts?

How Hillary
only made Honorable Mention when her trail of corruption can be followed by a blind man is rather strange. Hsu is just one more stop on the trail.

Thanks GunnyG for the "Dhimmicrat" term. A truly apt description.

Townhall
has turned into a anti-gay sewer.

Van - Why Go Back 40 Years????
Van: "Not to talk about Chappaquiddick that happened almost 40 years ago. Is that the best you can do?"

We bring it up, sir/madam, because Mary Jo K. is STILL dead after lo, all these (40) years.

It's all about a complete lack of shame - which lack you obviously share with The Swimmer.

This is a small step toward equity

Our side forgets too easily. We always seem to turn our attention toward the more important, bigger issues of running the country, and let slide the indescretions and downright corruption of Leftie Political Hacks.

But the Leftie Losers never forget.

They see conservatives as the enemy, and are determined to take us out in anyway necessary.

They get ahold of their victims and hang on like pitbulls until they have drained the life out of them. To heck with fighting America's REAL sworn enemies, forget about preventing those who seek our destruction!

After all, they are doing what they perceive to be the greater good: making the world safe for Marxism.

van
We already have you pegged as one of Barney's favorites.

Lest we forget!
And these are only the ones who have been caught.

Ted Kennedy is the worst
Sen Kennedy WITHOUT DOUBT should have been charged and convicted of involuntary manslaughter, at the least. The guy is drunkenly driving a vehicle which is involved in an accident in which another human being is killed...EXCUSE ME. To boot, there is the matter of his totally irresponsible (and you can add members of his immediate family as co-conspirators here) and heartless act of failure to report the accident as he should have; however, people like Sen Craig are driven from office for exhibiting gay "voodoo" signals in a men's restroom and then having the exceedingly poor judgement not to demand their lawyer's presence before saying anything to the cops! Maybe he is gay, maybe he isn't; maybe he was soliticing, maybe he wasn't. These questions about Sen Craig are not a matter of fact, but Sen Kennedy's sins are fact, beyond a reasonable doubt.

Hey GunnyG
Notice how the posting form is not clearing after your comment posts?

I hope someone alerts the WebMaster: somehow the code has gotten messed up!

Well, now
Let's not forget Louisiana and New Orleans. My younger brother lived in Louisiana for about 10 years and his words were that corruption was such a normal thing there that they didn't even try to hide it. The only politicians who got prosecuted are the ones who welshed on their deals.

Dear Van
When a designated group makes it a habit of picking each other up and trysting in filthy public bathrooms, why is it that we are suddenly supposed to be the ones who are descrete?

If gay men don't want to have the reputation of having filthy "sewer" habits, perhaps they should confine their intimate relations to the bedroom.

If the majority of gays have more modest practices, then they should be putting pressure on the ones who are giving you all a bad name.

There is no expectation of privacy for those who do it in public places.

Van
How about you go out and bring a homosexual prostitute into your house and let him run a ring out of your house. Not only will you get charged, prosecuted, and jailed, but your house will also be confiscated under these civil forfeiture laws that people like Barney passed.

No he wasn’t convicted, because like his buddy Ted the swimmer, he was never charged. Another double standard that is ongoing. Look at the latest Kennedy and the DUI in Washington DC.

Kopechne didn't drown ("to death")
The most outrageous aspect of Kopechne's death is that she did NOT drown, she suffocated. She had enough air to survive, had the only person who knew of her predicament summoned help immediately. He was more concerned about his political career than about her life and safety, though.

Leave it to Hawkins to get it wrong!
"Barney Frank: In case you don't remember, Frank used the services of a gay prostitute, allowed the man to move in with him, and then allowed the guy to run a prostitution ring out of his apartment. "

One might think Hawkins should resign for being a straight up liar, lazy journalist and downright idiot. Franks took up with a man who turned out to be a prostitute - upon finding out the truth, Frank dupmed the guy and turned himself into the REPUBLICAN MAJORITY House ethics committee (unlike Craig who is in denial) - the committee sanctioned him.

Ted Kennedy - like him or not, the people of his state know the truth and keep electing him - sorry John, Democracy trumps your partisan hack mentality.

Byrd? His klan membership was never illegal and, again, the people of his state are well aware - rmember, Craig was ARRESTED and is in DENIAL.

At least wait until Jefferson is convicted of something before lynching - er, hanging him out to dry!

Why not add Dick Cheney to your list - he shot a guy in the face!

Vic
Agreed. And those FEW Repubs that stay will be advised that we're watching their every move.

Vic
Then your case is with police and judiciary, not me. And no, if someone lives with me and commits a crime, I do not go to jail because of that. Do you have that kind of laws in your state?

And it is pitiful to go back 40 or 20 years in time in order to find counterarguments to Republican corrpution of today. Unless you're saying that Abramoff scandal, Cunningham and all other GOP crooks are OK because of Chappaquiddick: That until Ted Kennedy is convicted you repugnants are allowed to do whatever you want?

Van
How typical of you to pull an ad hominem attack on Mountani Rose. Your hasty generalization of:

"But as typical Christian your obsession is with gays. there are plenty of omwne who get turned on by gay sex, are you one of them?"

is also typical. Any proof of all of these women or are you taling out of your a** like Hal Donohue does?

Van
Speaking of corruption, I see ELEVEN Dhimmicrats nabbed for corruption in NJ.

http://apnews.myway.com/article/20070906/D8RG78A00.html

Did you somehow miss that article or wasn't it posted on moveyourbowelson.org?

While we're at it
I nominate Representative Gerrold ("Jerry") Nadler (D-NY).

He spends so much time on various chat shows slanging off anyone who dares to disagree with Murtha, et al. (even when they are factually wrong), that I am forced to conclude that he's either a radical ideologue or an idiot. And I don't believe that he's an idiot.

And even if he is, that alone should qualify him for being booted to the curb.

cheers

Gunny
You're probably the last person in universe to lecture anyone about ad hominem attacks.

But as Mountain Rose you're as blind to your own behavior than she is.

Correct me if I'm wrong,
but didn't Byrd at least apologize for his racist past? I agree with most of the list, but I would make an exception for those who have been contrite, or at least appear to have been contrite, and worked to change their behavior. I don't know how sincere he was in his contrition, but that is between him and his god. Trust me, I'm not Senator Byrd fan. I think his ability to "bring home the bacon" is absolutely despicable. But he did it under the rules by which we govern, which is a whole different topic.

Yee haaa!
Throw them all out, who voted for the Patriot Act I and II and replace them with regular people that work for a living. Pass a law that prevents lawyers from holding any public office. Judges too, no more lawyer judges. All laws should be written in plain english, which are short and to the point. No more 2000 page laws, like NAFTA. If a 5th grader doesn't understand it, it is bad law.

Van
Actually, I just call it like it is.

For example, last night one of your fellow libqsuirts, Hal Donohue was bleating about the concentration camps being run in the USA and when I called him on it, he fled the thread like a stripe-a**ed ape.

Of course I called him a terrorist-lover and a coward and both fit the bill.

Just like I call Hitlary and Bubba corrupt, scandal-ridden white trash parasites sucking the blood of the American taxpayers.

Ad hominem attack or the truth? I call it the truth. The facts point to it as truth. The Hsugate scandal points to it as truth.

Except in your moonbat pea-brain. haha.

Now THAT is an ad-hominem attack. Or is it?

Any
President, who signs anything into law and makes himself or his administration exempt should be thrown into jail. In my state, the government passes laws all the time against the people and makes itself exempt from the same laws. This country is srewed up.

Van and Straw Dogg
You two are simply unbelievable. For some reason, you just don't understand that all those elected to serve honorably should do so. What good does it do this country to have a hall filled with douchebags regardless of party affiliation?

Van, your last post was borderline stupid. You do know that Abramhoff and Cunningham have been arrested don't you. Duke, damn his hide, has been in prison for some time now. But he didn't directly cause the death of an innocent young lady. He was a corrupt SOB who also was an ace in Vietnam. One doesn't balance the other, and correctly so.

And Straw Dogg, get your head out. Your asinine comments about your heroes being elected on a continuous basis is precisely to problem. You'd think responsible citizen/voters would take a bit more pride in their country than their stupid political party wouldn't you? And your comment about Cheney was just childish.

You two need to get it together.

Van the ad hom homo

---

No van, YOU are.

Why don't you and the other homosexuals take a strong proactive stand against NAMBLA, denounce child molestation and take the lead in the fight against pedophilia?

The point of this issue....
is that Democrats are not held to the same standards as Republicans when it comes to misbehavior. There is no question that if a Republican had acceepted a bribe and put it in his freezer he would have been out on his ear. Wm Jefferson was provided with another position of trust in government. Ted Kennedy on one occasion was drunk driving and nearly ran over a Capitol Police officer. The result was that the officer was reprmimanded for stopping him and ended up getting another job. It seems that when Kennedy was given a ride home he was cursing the cop he nearly killed. This was not 40 years ago. The worst example was Gerry Studds who was a pedophile that never answered for wrongdoing. He had sex with a child for god's sake. One problem is that they have had this tradition for so long that the dems have nothing happen to them even when they are not in charge.

Van
It would be pretty hard to "not know" that someone was running a prostitution ring out of your own house. Yes, anyone else would have been charged and yes he dumped the guy when he "found out" after the guy had been caught by the police.

I'd like to add a couple to the list
Congresswoman Carol Shea-Porter (D-NH)
Congressman Paul Hodes (D - NH)

Shea-Porter refuses to meet with families who have family members serving in Iraq. She also has informed a few outspoken constituents who support our country fighting in Iraq that she did not represent them - she was elected to represent the anti-war crowd.

Hodes only will respond to those constituents with whom he shares ideology and opinions. The rest seemingly do not count.

Duck
Yes, and also since he is equal opportunity he'll stand in front also.

But since he is such a jerk, when he's behind he will not even give a "reach-around".

Do the Math
Mr Hawkins: You want Senator Byrd to resign because of his KKK membership. That was in 1942, roughly twice as long ago as President Bush was an alcoholic, was arrested for vandalism while drunk, and was very likely arrested for cocaine abuse. Does that mean Bush should resign twice as fast as Byrd, since his wrongdoings were 50% more recent?

GunnyG...
scuttle butt? Talk about your spew alerts. Next time, you must be careful with the phrases you use when talking about Fwank. Try something like "rumor has it ...". Just not "scuttle butt." At first I laughed. Then I got the creeps.

Profiling?
Someone should do an investigation of the U.S. Attorney in NJ. From the article linked above, all the corrupt politicians arrested seemingly come from minority groups.

I don't live in NJ, but do travel there quite often. The state is infested with corruption - has been for years - but there are plenty of white politicians to choose from too.

First it was the state police on the turnpike, and now the U.S. Attorney. Will profiling ever end in NJ?

Looks Like
the Dhimmicrats in La-La Land are gender confused once again.

Cate Blanchett playing Bob Dylan!

Hey libs: "How does it feeeeelll to be so stupid? How does it feeeeeeeeeeel?"

Mooks

One error:
"The man Rush Limbaugh refers to as "The Swimmer" is notorious for leaving Mary Jo Kopechne to drown to death while he waited 10 hours before telling anyone because he wanted to plot a media strategy."

Contrary to popular belief, Kopechne did NOT die from drowning according to the divers who found her body and the coroner who examined her body. The car was found inverted in the lake, and the divers found her propped into a small air pocket in the rear of the car. She did not drown, however she did die when the air pocket she was found in ran out of breathable air. The coroner estimated she survived AT LEAST 40 minutes after the car going into the water.

Kennedy isn't guilty of "manslaughter". He's guilty of MURDER. All he had to do is dial 9-1-1 and that girl would have survived. Alas, the mrons of Massachusetts seem to think criminal behavior is cause for MORE, not less, support at the polls, as proofed by Kennedy, Kerry, and Frank.

Why Dems should be banned from the polls
"Ted Kennedy - like him or not, the people of his state know the truth and keep electing him - sorry John, Democracy trumps your partisan hack mentality.

"Byrd? His klan membership was never illegal and, again, the people of his state are well awar"

There you have it. Straight from the mouth of a kooky commie Democrat. Democrats LOVE murderers. THAT, kiddies, is EXACTLY why Democrats should be banned PERMANENTLY from voting ever again.

?
I thought it was the REPUBLICANS who wanted Larry out. Correct me if I'm wrong but what dems said get him out? Keep the hypocrite, if you want him.

RE: lilly
Thank you for admitting that you believe that lynching people because of their skin color is no worse than being an alcoholic. It's morons like you who PROVE, beyond ANY and ALL doubt, that Democrats are, in fact, the true racists.

Feet of Clay
The downside of our republic is the public treasury. Such an enormous pile o' cash attracts scammers like sh*t draws flies. We all can and should complain about the foibles of our elected representatives, but unless we use the power of the ballot box, we have no one to blame but ourselves. Maybe to protect us from us term limits could work. I think Churchill said something like "Democracy is the second worst form of government. The only thing worse is everything else."

Something in the water ...
Wow, Lilly and Van are drinking that water again! Consistently amaze me. I want people in office who ARE pretty darned close to perfect, meaning forthright, honest, trustworthy. There ARE people like that - they are just to smart to run! And I wouldn't even care what party they are from. Article is right on - throw all of them out! Very sad.

Van
The list of conservatives who have "never been convicted of anything" but come under constant claims of illegal actions from the left is a long long long one.
The list of conservatives convicted of felonies and still serving is quite short. Much shorter than the liberal list;
As for Kennedy and 40 years, there is no statute of limitations on cowardice.

George W Bush
Swing by my blog and check the article I wrote on the GOP. Whattya think?

Mountain Rose
Save family values...

I share your depression. The voters are getting exactly the govt they are voting, (or not voting) for. At least the pols are stealing someone else's money. The voters are trying to get rich by stealing their own money. How foolish can one get?

GREAT POST.

Chappaquiddick Ted is guilty if Murder. Third-degree or by negligence.

Don't worry though, the Devil is waiting on him and hopefully, the wait won't be long.

I notice a continuing
theme. Bad behavoir is okay as long as it is a Democrat.

Matthew
Your post about us "breeders" wanting special rights was nearly as stupid as Hal's post about concentration camps in the USA/OCONUS.

Let me see. A VAST VAST VAST minority of homos clamoring for every right that those who propagate the species enjoy and that WE, the VAST VAST VAST majority accede to their wishes or we're "homophobic."

You are the one who is fact-challenged. The House was controlled by the dhimmi-cRATS when Barney's Basement Boy Brothel was, er, exposed. And the "Ethics" Committee of either house of Congress (like the "Intelligence" Committees) is made up of equal numbers of Republicans and dhimmi-cRATS.

And so what if Frank was never convicted of anything. Of what crime has Tom Delay been convicted? Hmmmm? Should Delay still be in congress? Hmmm?

LOLA2
Bad behavoir isnt ok for neither party but when a DEM gets in trouble you DUMBOCRATS always seem to defend them and reelect them. When a REP gets in trouble we throw them out of office. The problem with BAD BEHAVOIR is that we dont accept it and you DEMS dooooooooooooooooooooooooo. Just like your DRIVE BY MEDIA buddies will never cover DEM problems Like they cover REP problems.

Is that when the term "gay" came into vogue to describe you instead?

KKK Byrd
The "Honorable" Senator might have been in the KKK years ago but it wasn't too awfully long ago that he referred to a person as a "white "n/word" on TV now, was it?? But he apologized for that too and all was forgiven by the left.

Sleaze
We changed our limited-government constitutional republic (Article 4, Section 4) into a huge democracy where the left and right wings of Control Freaks Unanimous can cram anything they choose down our throats if they can only get that 50.01%. So, why is anyone surprised that there are corrupt politicians, corrupt businessmen, and corrupt lobbyists taking taxpayer money and getting involved in every other kind of sleaze? If you are satisfied, continue geting government to "solve" all your problems and keep fighting over which group of tyrants you want to control everyone's life. http://www.poorgrandchildren.com

+++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++

+++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++

Byrd voted against the Civil Rights Act of 1964 and used the "N" word in this decade. It isn't just that he was a Klansman. He was aleader of the Klan. Read some of his speeches from back then. His apology rings hollow. And just like Jimmy Carter no ones loves him enough to get him out of the spotlight as a doddering old fool. It really makes you admire Nancy Reagan even more for protecting her husband. I doubt he was as senile as these 2.

Kennedy Shortchanged
Senator Kennedy's youthful aquatic escapades aside. Let's remember that, along with his notorious amorality with women and his fevered attempts to make America a socialist oligarchy, this was also the man who consciously delivered South Vietnam into the hands of it's enemies by cutting off ammunition to their army. But for him (and the other two Archtraitors, George McGovern and Ramsey Clark) the RNV would likely have been victorious and the Vietnamese people free today. Instead, Vietnam remains one of the few communist nations on Earth and the dishonor and cowardice those men displayed has bolstered our enemies ever since. If there had been real justice in America, all three of them would have been decorating a tree limb thirty years ago.

Taft
Being involved in a car crash in which someone dies is not necessarily murder (a word i have never used in connection with Kennedy). Kennedy's actions after his car hit the water amount to self-serving cowardice. I am not familiar with the details of the fatal accident in which Luara (sic) Bush was involved. Did she behave as badly as Kennedy. If so, and if she were an elected official, i should certainly feel she was not above criticism.

I agree with Leo
Too much childish namecalling and potty humor here. I quit going to HuffPo for a year because of that. I recently started going back and I'd have to say it is no more childish than here. At least be clever folks. You have won the battle of ideas. Conservative thought--and especially Christian thought--is better for the country. It's conservatives and yes some Christians that give me pause.

While We're On the Subject
Today's townhall has yet another article by Oliver North, revered here and on FOX as a military hero. In fact, he was in charge of Reagan's illegal sale of firearms to the Nicaraguan Contras. When this was discovered, North lied to Congress. He was later indicted on 16 felony counts and convicted of 3, receiving a jail sentence of three years plus fines. The sentence was overturned (because the ACLU intervened in his behalf) on the basis of differing interpretations of North's immunity. The overturn was due to a legal technicality---obody ever said he hadn't done the things he was convicted of. Should North resign from his gig with FOX and not be writing columns for a nice respectable conservative website? Should he not be seen as a hero? Only by those who don't have a problem with lying to Congress, selling arms illegally to terrorists, little details like that.

Leo, why don't you and the other Barney Franker SELF-ADMITTED HOMOSEXUALS take a strong proactive stand against NAMBLA, denounce child molestation and take the lead in the fight against pedophilia?

Thought so.

lily, you wrote...
"That was in 1942, roughly twice as long ago as President Bush was an alcoholic, was arrested for vandalism while drunk, and was very likely arrested for cocaine abuse."
*************************************************
President Bush admitted the alcohol problem. What's your source for the vandalism? First time I've heard that. Also, where's the evidence that he was arrested for cocaine abuse? You can't provide it because it doesn't exist. You're just throwing accusations against the wall, hoping they'll stick.

goblue has a point
about the juvenile potty humor. It's gotten a bit ridiculous in the last few days. Coulter's column yesterday essentially became a chat room for three or four people to share fat jokes about Rosie O'Donnell (that takes a great deal of thought) in between jr. high locker room talk on other topics. There haven't been a whole lot of ideas to debate or discuss . . .

Savage
To be clear, I meant the rw talk radio Savage. About Laura, she was innocent, although there has been a little speculation. What I meant that the rw radio has a penchant for taking little speculations and running wild with it.

lilly,

Gays
*Townhall has turned into a anti-gay sewer.*

The more I hear about gay sex in public (whether done by a republican or democrat), the less inclined I am to be unbiased about the gay lifestyle.

Or better put, I don't care what you do in your own home but I don't want to hear about all abotu the various sundry ways gay men (republicans and democrats) seek out gay sex.

Also, if you actually want attitudes towards gays to improve, I'd suggest stop trying to shove gay marriage down the throats of citizens via judicial fiat and instead, let the citizens themselves decide.

Big Dog sez: many of us believe a man's personal life and his professional leadership are not intertwined.

Even in a democratic republic that kind of thinking is scary. Let's see: If a person is a habitual spouse or child abuser, it doesn't matter; if a person is a falling down drug addict, it doesn't matter; if a person is a pedophile and card carrying member of NAMBLA, it doesn't matter.

Hoss, you shouldn't be allowed to vote, even in this country where dogs, dead folks and illegals get to.

Excellent points!

Democracy in its purest form is exclusionary. That's why we have a democratic republic. In a pure democracy, someone like myself in KS, because of our smaller relative population, would never be heard on a national scale. However, our founding fathers had the foresight to make a powerful senate (as opposed to the House) that gave equal representation to all states so that Rhode Island gets the same voice as California.

Those framers actually knew what they were doing. If only we'd follow their model . . .

lily, RE: Oliver North
What is it that you don't understand about "The sentence was overturned?" Overturned means OVERTURNED! If a court convicts you of a crime, then a higher court overturns the conviction for whatever reason (it's always a "technicality" when it's a conservative) it means that you are not convicted. That's how the justice system works. On the other hand, when an individual commits a crime like driving off a bridge and abandoning the passenger, and is never held criminally accountable for it, it's called "political influence." That's how THAT system works.

The cause of corruption is
that the two major parties have rigged the election process to assure themselves continued power. With this attitude in mind, the elites have convinced themselves that they are invulnerable and do not fear accountability.

In addition to that, they have created a "let the government take care of it" mentality and bought us off with pork barrell spending and entitlements. The result is the arrogance exhibited by our dear elected officials, and WE ARE TO BLAME for their continual re-election.

It should be obvious that the elites will not pass laws such as term limits, nor will they police the errant members as they are almost all corrupt, on the take from lobbyists and looting their campaign treasuries for personal benefit.

None of this will change until we send an unmistakeable message that "we the people" are the rightful owners of the nation and we refuse to allow them to continue unabated. The best way to send that message is to deny them the Presidency in 2008.

But, what about party loyalty?
The Democrats have this down to a science. THEY stand in solidarity with their own because of the common (D) behind their names. Republicans throw their own "under the bus" at the slightest hint of legitimate, illegal acts or scandals.

Principles over Party? I don't think the Republicans have arrived at that desirable ideal but they ARE at least one step ahead of the Democrats.

I wish that Republican leaders would step out, call for resignations when their own succumb to acts of illegality or immorality AND at the same time I wish they would CHALLENGE the Democrats to do the same. Name names in BOTH Parties. We need some leadership.

Apologies for the friendly fire.

That should have been aimed at the mewler on this board, Van.

The cause of corruption is part 2
If we do that, we can begin a restoration of the founding principles that made this nation the greatest this world has ever seen.

If we elect a President not part of the political machines, the PACs, and not tied to the money grubbing lobbyists, we can achieve that goal. We need to remind ourselves that we have a duty to vote into office men of conscience. That will not happen until we recognize that the government is far too big and there is too much power concentrated in Washington. That power needs to be returned to the local level as much as possible.

As a candidate for President, I offer a way to get us back to those founding principles, to return governance to the local level. I am not tied to any political machine, any PAC, or any lobbyist. I have no political career to defend and no position of wealth to maintain. I have only one goal, restore this nation to its rightful owners, you the American people.

I urge you to visit my website, JOEOLIVAFORPRESIDENT.ORG, and see how we can accomplish this. This is not the time for another elite, another lesser of two evils vote. It is time for a real revolution at the ballot box in 2008. Check out my website, what's to lose? The elites have already stolen our birthright, we must reclaim it. If we remove the Presidency from their hands, we can begin the journey home. Let's do it. Thanks, Joe

Come now, you and I both know that even if Leo became a national leader in the fight against peophilia you'd still hate him.

The point, of course, is that I will never have to confront that situation.

Leo will never become a national leader in the fight against pedophilia.

Opposing pedophilia is against homosexual "family values".

Gay couple left free to abuse boys - because social workers feared being branded homophobic
By PAUL SIMS

A homosexual foster couple were left free to sexually abuse vulnerable boys in their care because social workers feared being accused of discrimination if they investigated complaints, an inquiry concluded yesterday.

Craig Faunch and Ian Wathey were one of the first homosexual couples in the country to be officially approved as foster parents.

They looked after 18 children in only 15 months.

Just-to b
Sorry, but the republican list is longer. Just this year 2007, 9 rep. have been looked at for indecent family values. I see too, you throw kids in your list, I'll not play that way.

Patrick
Yes, I knew you'd respond this way (hell, it's how I would have responded--makes a logical argument).

Honestly, I don't know why I feel the need to mix it up with you. It's not like I have some special interest in gay rights. I'm not gay, so I don't feel personally attacked . . . There's just something about what you say that sticks in my craw.

By the way, thanks for at least being civil in arguments. Other than a few names directed at other people (slug, retard) you've been pretty cool headed and mature in your postings. Heck, I'm just as bad for calling you Mensa, although Mensa has a better ring to it than retard . . .

Republican list is Longer ????
What, did you not get through all 11 parts before posting your reply ?

And as far as listing kids, since the only kids listed were VICTIMS of Democrat debauchery, well I can't help what these fine gentlemen were convicted of.

But I'm glad to hear you don't play that way atleast.

god is great
I don't think we'll ever see members of either party making a practice of calling one another out--unless it's politically expedient to do so.

We have a plethora of politicians and a shortage of statesmen. Maybe I'm too cynical for my own good, but it seems like the only time members of Congress call for another members resignation, or remain silent in the face of another member's ethical lapses, is if there is something to be gained politically.

Wouldn't it be refreshing if just once, a politician stood on his/her principles? Something like, "I'm calling on all members of Congress who've pled guilty to crimes to resign", or conversely, "I'm not going to call for Senator Craig's resignation because he's a friend of mine and I stand by my friends, and if it costs me votes, so be it."

Just once I'd like to see members of Congress acting without considering how their actions will affect the likelihood or re-election.

Just-to b
I meant the kid slitting tires. Den, debauchery? With this list competition, its getting me depressed, what sort of government have we?

Kick them all out
gee, when members of Congress act without considering their own self-interest you will see pigs taking to the skies.

I agree with a previous poster, what difference does it make if a congressman cavorts with a prostitute; most of them are prostitutes (to one or more special interest groups) themselves. You know what they say about birds of a feather.

Voters are to blame, too. If there weren't so many constituents willing to overlook any indiscretion as long as their particular political prostitute brings home the bacon, we wouldn't be in this situation.

It's time to clean out the House...and Senate.

it a DagWood sandwich
Well I see the name Kennedy has been mentioned about 25 times, but Dodd only once.

I don’t know how you would classify the following story, some will think it was fun, others (ladies??!!) will say, “If I was there we could have made it a DagWood sandwich.”

Remember the story of Dodd, the Swimmer, and the Sandwich? For those who don’t remember, a story is told of Dodd, Kennedy and a waitress, in sandwich form, on the floor in an expensive resturant in Wash DC, many years ago.

Does anyone else remember this, or do I remember it just as if I had heard it sometime ago?

Not as tintillating but...
Look at all this back-biting...no wonder nothing gets done in Congress or anywhere else.
I'm not condoning any of this behavior, but wouldn't it be great if Congress actually worked on something constructive instead of quarrelling with each other over personalities and ideolgy.
As my father always said...follow the money, it's all they are really interested in.

Government corruption
The whole government is corrupt top to bottom and thw WORST are the behind the scenes "bureaucrats" who make life miserable for many. What we need is a clean sweep of the WHOLE miserable mess. START over again. The founders would be appalled at what we have allowed to happen to their dream. Strip the power structure, eliminate ANY corporation or foreign born individual from contributing to any candidate for office and do away with POLITICAL parties. When they reared their ugly heads in the early 1800's the government has been in a downward spiral ever since.

I think that the problem is due to a misapprehension of what I support.

You mentioned in another post yesterday that "I don't dispute that homosexuality is deviant. What I do take umbrage with is your viewpoint that all homosexuals should be rounded up, tried (on charges of pedophilia) and executed."

That's not what I'm supporting. I'm advocating that:

1. All convicted pedophiles, either hetero or homo, should be executed upon conviction of child molestation.

2. Other than the change in sentencing, maintain the present system of prosecuting child molesters (no witch hunts).

3. Consistent enforcement of the above should result in some heteros (probably less than 1% of the hetero population) getting executed, as well as virtually all homos.

You might agree or disagree either with my execution approach to pedophilia or my conclusion that it will wipe out all homosexuals, but I think that you can see that there is no "roundup" of homosexuals to be followed by pedophilia trials and execution.

Rather, there would be a continuing effort to suppress pedophilia that would result in executions (of both hetero and homosexuals) rather than the mild sentences now seen.

I'm simply promoting the observation that doing so will incidentally render the homosexual population extinct.

Greetings from Mass.
I have the distinction of having three of the members of Congress receiving much of the commentary here as my representatives (yes, the Kennedy, Kerry, Frank trifecta!). Many have asked how such people could be re-elected time after time. I would ask most of you the same question. The answer in Mass is that those who vote (Too few) are predominantly VERY liberal. I cannot understand why the voters here have not found better than the thrilling three, but can assure you that they are quite satisfied with their choices. I don't like them, but have just one vote. But on the other hand, they are not the demons many of you perceive. They are just honestly deluded. It would be better for you folks to address their flawed politics and forget what you think you know about what crimes they may have committed. There is excessive personal attack in TH postings, and this detracts from dialog about important issues. Please stop it!

Not the sandwich Jim
Just noticed that another Jim posted at 12:28. Don't associate that with my 1:25 post. Guess I will have to change monikers.

On the nail, Reaganite!
The only ones who should be allowed to stay are those who ACTUALLY REPRESENT their constituencies in DC AND NOT:
(1) DC to their constituencies
(2) their private pet projects (which they never actually asked their constituents about) to DC

#2 type is unfortunately all-too-common--they are the definition of "earmarks".

For Patrick: how about a modification of your sentence (for child molestation) to chemical castration (meaning dipping the molester's testicles in boiling, concentrated sulphuric acid) WITHOUT anaesthetic?

Patrick
I’ll gladly comply. Pedophilia is wrong and rates as perhaps the worst crimes ever committed. NAMBLA is a heinous organization whose members should be ostracized by society. I don’t support the death penalty for pedophiles but can respect the desire to have them all executed.

Otherwise, I like the coy way you say you don’t want to round up and execute all homosexuals, just all pedophiles. The extinction of homosexuals would just be incidental.

Please apply simple logic, Patrick
Patrick, I don't dispute any of the posts you make on this subject of gays and pedophilia, but this time I have to.

When you advocated capital punishment for pedophiles, you observe that this would result in the deaths of 1% of the heterosexual population, but virtually all the homosexual population -- meaning that you think all homosexuals are pedophiles. You simply don't have evidence to support that claim.

You DO have evidence to support the claim that a disproportionate number of pedophiles are homosexual. It would follow that the fact a man is homosexual increases the likelihood that he's also pedophilic. But even if ALL pedophiles were homosexual, that would still not constitute evidence that all homosexuals are pedophiles. To say "All A is B" (e.g. all pedophiles are homosexual) does not imply "All B is A" (e.g. all homosexuals are pedophiles.) This, you would have learned on day 1 of Logic 101, if you had taken that class.

This all avoids the question of whether death is an appropriate punishment for sexually molesting a child. I think it's excessive. And just fwiw, the claim that pedophilia cannot be cured is an urban myth. Lots of pedophiles have been successfully treated. The recidivism rate is roughly the same as the recidivism rate for addiction recovery programs for any addition.

Not gonna happen.
I agree that all of these members should resign, but that would only happen if they were Republican. Since all of the mentioned offenders are Democrats, they'll get a pass. The modern media operates by two rules:

Rule 1: A liberal never does anything wrong.
Rule 2: If a liberal does do something wrong, see rule 1.

How fast would you be calling for Byrd's resignation if there was an R after his name instead of a D?

No one would be calling for his resignation these days, if he had an R behind his name, he would have been thrown out years ago
========
On August 12, 1937, Franklin D. Roosevelt nominated Senator Hugo Black for the Supreme Court, after 10 years in the Senate, and he served on the court for 34 years.

Hugo Black
Joined the KKK on Sept 13, 1923
Was elected to the US Senate March 4, 1927
Was nominated for the US Supreme Count on August 17, 1937
Served until 1971.

Upper Case Jim and lower case jim
We've been on together other times, and there are several other partly "jims."

I haven't read enough of other "jim" comments to judge who is the best, but being neither bashful nor modest, I have an idea who is best, so there!!

When I worked for the Akron Beacon Journal nearly 65 years ago, I was Jimmy 3, just to keep us straight.

Liberty is the answer
If the Federal Government actually limited its powers to those granted by the constitution with the corresponding minimal tax rates and regulations, corrupt politicians would have less power to pick winners and losers, and we would care much less about who should resign.

The only way I see this happening is to repeal the 17th amendment and go back to having Senators serve at the pleasure of state legislatures. This would shift the balance of power back to the states. I would go even further if it were up to me. Only state governments would be allowed to directly tax individuals and business which would eliminate the IRS as far as we are concerned. Federal revenue could only be collected through tariffs and fees, and they would access individual and corporate income tax revenue by assessing fees on state governments. Each state government would structure their taxes according to their economy. This would put state governments in the position to advocate minimal tax rates, and they would have to power to achieve this through their Senate appointments. Tax competition among states would keep the power of state governments in check.

Wow! all over the place today
For an article written to suggest many in congress shouldn't be there, we have every thing from Pedophiles, corrupt congress people, to murders & deviants.

Back to the subject originally addressed, There is in my opinion a very short list of members of congress who deserve to be there. A few Democrats & Republicans the rest should be fired( not reelected) starting with Ms Pelosi, & Mr Reid. We do not need to worry about Pres. Bush since he terms out.

One solution for the ongoing Washington DC corruption problem is to allow one term only period. this might require reviewing the current term lengths & perhaps changing them. This approach would end career politicians such as Sen. Kennedy being around for over 40 years of corruption.

Have to love the left
I love the posts near the beginning:

1. Barney Frank was never convicted of anything
2. Why no Dick Cheney? He SHOT soemone!

Uh, was Cheney convicted of anything? But that doesn't matter because he's a republican, I suppose.

And we are deluged with claims that Bush was a draft dodger, but it doesn't matter if Teddy killed someone because it was 40 YEARS AGO!

Why don't they just put the honest answer on the site:

We don't care, because he's a democrat.

That is the truth, isn't it?

Ken
I'll add on to your list

3. Attack anyone who disagrees with rule #1

Van, oh Van.
That was 40 years ago! You're right, that's 40 years of corruption allowed by your fellow Mass. population.
40 years of Uncle Teddy's giving away OUR $$$ to people who won't get off their arse and do it the old fashion way, earn it. Nope, according to Uncle Teddy, they can just pop out those babies and let the rest of their fellow citizens take care of them and their family.
Or in case of the illegals, you can dang well live here, we will make you fellow citizens, no matter what you are doing, or have done, don't let that little matter of stealing someone else's identiy worry you one little bit, the person owning the ID will have to sort out that little bit of indignity.

Not only has Billie Bob Byrd not apologized for his leadership role in the KKK, he wrote in his biography published only last year that every person he knew in the Klan was a fine upstanding citizen, you can check it out yourself.

He also used the "N" word on national TV twice a few years back. Imagine a Republican using the N word on national TV and staying in office? That big puzzy Trent Lott resigned for making some kindly comments to a 100 year old man on his birthday. When are Repuzzycans going to stand up for themselves? How can we believe they will stand up for us until they stand up for themselves? America has no defenders now.

Thumper
Good on you!! We can dump the 16th ammendment too while we're at it.

Pedophiles
Pedophiles are certainly reprehensible to most people. Our laws & Judicial System are not doing their job relative protecting the American public.
Pedophiles really are not cured of their afflictions
there fore the system must separate them from the rest of society. To release them out of prison with the rest of society is criminal in its self.
Look at your judges records when they come for reelection & appointment. Do not allow Judges with weak records to continue in those positions.

Van writes:
"Isn't it due to citizens of Massachusetts to decide who they want to represent themselves rather than meanspirited republican pundit. maybe you should ask for them to resign from voting?"

Let's think about this.

Massachusetts has given us Ted Kennedy, John Kerry, and Barney Frank.

They have given us the Massachusetts Supreme Court which has usurped the function of that state's legislature by ordering what law to pass and given them a deadline by which it must be done.

The Massachusetts Legislature has shown the yellow streak on its backside and complied (I don't know if they have true separation of powers in MA or if the state constitution there essentially provides for an imperial judiciary).

If MA wants to knuckle under to the gay lobby and an imperial judiciary that is bad enough, but still their business. Unfortunately, the idea at the MA supreme court is that other states must honor these 'marriages' under the concept of full faith and credit (aka "reciprocation").

So, all things considered, yes Van, I think I will ask the citizens of MA to 'resign' from voting until they learn to either govern themselves like responsible adults or keep the stupidity they elect and/or enact inside their own borders.

One thing more Re: MA
I'm pretty sure if you go back over the last four Presidential elections and check you will find that the citizens of MA voted to give their state's electoral votes to Clinton, Clinton, Gore, and Kerry.

And Van is foolish enough to suggest, even facetiously, on a conservative website that maybe we should ask the citizens of MA to 'resign from voting.'

I'll do the honor.

People of MA, please don't vote anymore.

Read again what I have written. I never said that all pedophiles were homosexuals. The reason only a very small PERCENTAGE of heterosexuals would get executed under my proposal is simply the very large NUMBER of heterosexuals in the population.

Homosexuals are only 0.8%-1.0% of the adult population, which translates to 1.5 million adult homosexuals in the US.

Judith Reisman, president of the Institute for Media Education points to figures from a 1991 population study by the U.S. Department of Commerce. It showed that 6-8 million boys were abused by age 18 by 1-2 million adult homosexuals, a ratio of 3-5 victims for every gay adult. They showed that 67 percent of all reported sex abuse victims are children and 64 percent of forcible sodomy victims are boys under 12.

Now, that's pretty conclusive. And the simplest way to prove me wrong is to enact mandatory capital punishment for all child molesters and evaluate the results. I think we'll have a homosexual-free society within a generation.

Canada beckons
Then again, maybe we don't have to execute anybody, maybe all we have to do is to send the homosexuals to Canada to molest THEIR kids:

http://www.drjudithreisman.com/archives/2005/12/canada_new_dest.html

The real question here is
not who is less or more corrupt, but what do we do about it. We are ALL corruptible and we ALL will fall into corruption once in a while.

When I become dirty I do not tell my wife to take a bath. I do it myself. That seems to be the difference between the parties. One wants the other to be clean while ignoring their own filth. Meanwhile the other is trying to clean up their filth own while waiting for the other to do likewise.

I considered becoming a politician when I was younger. But I learned growing up on the farm in Iowa that when you go swimming with the hogs you end up smelling like them. So here I am just trying to be a good husband, father, and employee. And trying not to smell the hogs too much.

For Bart
Regarding corruption.

I agree that one term per rep would out a dent in corruption.

But there will always be big (bribe) money in politics as long as ... what?

As long as there is big, DISCRETIONERY spending from Congress.

SS is a big chunk of money, but it is mandatory, not discretionery. So is the military and, to a large extent, the Civil Service. But roughly 30% of our annual budget of $3 trillion, approximately $900 billion, goes for discretionery grants, aid, pork (now called "earmarks"; the left even has PC words for corruption), and "entitlements" for which recipients don't even have to be here legally, let alone qualify under means testing.

When you've got this 'pile' of $900 billion laying around waiting to be spent it draws the worst kind of people, the same way another kind of 'pile' draws flies.

wiseone
Good comments I don't disagree with; We have to start somewhere. Perhaps with new faces in congress pork barreling can be reduced or eliminated.

wiseone
A possible way of handling this would be to replace elections as follows:

1. All eligible applicants under the Constitution in a district (for US House) or a state (for Senate) would be invited to work towards selection in a lottery to select the Congressman/Senator.

2. All those interested would have to pass the US citizenship test given to immigrants who want to become US citizens.

3. Those interested particularly in the Senate would also have to pass the US State Department Foreign Service Exam.

4. On "Election Day" the winner would be selected randomly in exactly the same way that state lotteries currently operate.

5. The terms of office would remain the same. In theory, someone could win the lottery more than once, but the likelihood of that ever happening would be neglible. Effectively, there would be a 1-term limit.

The advantage is that Congress would be populated by normal everyday Americans. George Washington's admonition to avoid political parties would finally be heeded.

This great nation is a republic, not a democracy so there should be no bar to proper implementation.

What? is Obvious.
I believe this column indicts both political parties.
It is very unfortunate that our system has been bastardized enabling virtually anyone with his cronies backing, to be re-elected time and again.
Our supposed representatives have only one thought in the front of their minds. They only care for more power more access to the powerful and a lifetime spent screwing us all.
I wish someone could come up with a system that eliminates what amounts to election for life.
We need statesmen not political hacks. Send people to Washington that have real beliefs and will listen to the people that sent them,
What we have is a disgrace to our forefathers.
I have long thought that the simplest solution would be to select our representatives by lottery, set a term of 6 years and after this period either terminate them or set up a retirement community for them at Gitmo.

my goodness
Sometimes I am at a complete loss for how carried away folks can get. Yes we are fraught with problems. Many of them have been highlighted here. Still, it is undeniable that we have the best system ever devised. We have the best government in existence. It is we who ultimately decide whom our leaders will be. Patriotism isn’t just waving the flag. It’s loving your country like a member of your family and holding it close to your heart. Show pride in who we are. Show courage in the face of all these failings. Show faith that God will never abandon us. And show confidence in the Constitution and the people of our country. I believe we will never fail.

I'm a native of Mass., (left in the 60's), I've family there. My sister was "purged" from the
voter list for not having changed the address she changed and voted from four years prior, which was 1996..come 2000 her name wasn't listed.
Couldn't be because she was registered as a REpublican, could it? This is a town she's lived in since '74, her husbands family is well known.
And speaking about my relatives, the older ones
were FDR, Democrat all the way, except my parents. And those people never got over the Camelot garbage. During the bicentennial of my hometown, my mom had the distinct pleasure of
telling Teddy boy just what she thought of him and his family..as her sisters and cousin were
going ga ga over him. That was in 1962.
Corruption in Mass politics goes way back, I remember my Dad growling about Mayor Curley and his machine which the Kennedy's inherited.

Right on!!!
Hell yes!!! Now that we have started this little exercise, let's go to the next sorry mustard on the list and it is a long list of democrats and republicans. Hawkins' list is a good starter but there are many more that need to follow Craig's example and if they don't we ought to throw them out.

This is, BY FAR, one of the funniest

threads I've ever read on TH... maybe ever!

Apparently the liberal lunatics didn't notice that Hawkins just happened to mention in his "list" some Republicans... right along with the dumbocrats.

See, that's the way we Conservatives are... one of our own messes up... we don't tolerate it, they're OUT!

Unlike, however, the dumbocrats who, as Hawkins mentioned, not only embrace them, but put them on committees... important committees! Now there's a stroke of not-so-smart!!!!

But the best is the lunatic liberal posts... similar to Tommy Smothers... "Oh yeah,... well... ummm... you did THIS or THAT...neener, neener, neener..." (Age appropriate, I might add!)

Of course the Conservative responses were a hoot, (LOL) but I can't give you much credit guys! It's like the liberals jumped into a barrel just so you could shoot at them.

They made it way too easy... LOL

dims and rehabilitation
It's amazing that no matter what the sin, any dim is always given a pass for his behavior. But any repub is branded for life for any disgression. Byrd was a leading memb er of the most vile hate group in the history of america yet now he is considered as white as snow for supossidily acknowledging his past. His record of vopting against black officials needing approval by congress does not indicate a senator who thinbks race is irrelevant. He also opossed the civil rights legislation. Yet this phony previously know for his love of pork always gets a pass. As for kennedy exactly how does the passing of years diminish his crime. He was a married man yet took a yound girl to the beach for sex games and let her drown while more concerned about working on his political cover. This lion of the senate, a known alchoholic who also took his son and nephew cruising bars looking for hook-ups and is still a hero for the libs. What a party. But we know that lilyy has always been in his corner and has proudly cast her vote to return this moral reprobate back to the senate.

moral reprobates in congress
It is still the responsibility of the voters to turn out the crooks and lowlife scum in congress. Any voter who helps return these lowlives to congress shouldn't complain. But it is long past time for the status quo to come to an end. We will only clean up congress when those who abuse our system is sent packing. Congress writes laws that keep them from prison but the voters still have the ability to remove them from office. Fellow citizens, lets unite to vote out all the thiefs and low lifes

wildwest: Excellent point!

I've always wondered... it there some magical number of years when all of a sudden, "poof" letting a young girl drown doesn't matter anymore????

Where is "Little Dick" Durbin and Barack Hussain Obama? Little Dick is at least on the borderline of treason. He supports the enemies of the country and tells outright lies about our military. Obama, a back bencher in the Illinois senate, has only been a US senator for a short time, but seems to have an unusual number of sleazy associates and has been involved in numerous shady deals.

.....I was raised in Boston, Mass until I got old enough and then I voted with my feet ...I am much more comfortable with Texas politics ...please excuse Bush Sr & GW ...they are not true Texans and neither is conservative ...Bush Sr is a limosine Liberal with roots in New England and GW proves that the acorn does not fall far from the tree ...

.....The precincts in Mass are controlled by the Democrats and the fix is in ...that explains low voter turnout because a vote for a conservative will not count so why bother ...

.....You probably are not old enough to remember James Curley ...mayor of Boston who was re-elected while incarcerated in jail for bribery and corruption ...even jail time cannot derail the Democrat Political Machine .....COLOSSUS

There is a lot to be said for your proposals to return to the federal constitution's support of states rights. A sufficiently strong majority of strict constructionists on the Supreme might do it. After all, the SC is the main engine behind the dilution of states rights.

You've GOT to be kidding
Hawkins might want to read up on the 'moralist' party he is aligned with:

talisman
offer your defense for those on the list. You imply their names shouldn't be amongst those the citizens should vote to remove from office. Hawkins has backed his argument, what's your disagreement with his critisism of those named

Wrong Big Dogg,
A person who cheats in their private life will cheat in public life. It's a matter of character.

Two words: TERM LIMITS.

The Craig Family
Arrests, Warrants and Restraining Orders, The Craig Family

Why is Craig fighting for his job?

ABC-In an effort to rehabilitate his reputation and save his political career, Sen. Larry Craig, R-Idaho, dispatched his children Michael Craig and Shae Howell to talk to ABC News’ Good Morning America this week and testify that their father isn’t gay and was not in fact guilty of the lewd conduct for which he was arrested.

Michael Craig said his father was simply “a victim of circumstance” who was “in the wrong place at the wrong time.”

But the criminal records of Michael Craig and his sister, whom Sen. Craig adopted after marrying their mother Suzanne in 1983, not only call into question how reliable they may be as character witnesses, they may even further undermine Craig’s portrayal of himself as a defender of family values.

At least two women have sought restraining orders against Michael Craig, who was once charged with statutory rape, though the charge was dismissed. He did not return a call for comment. And at the time of Howell’s appearance on Good Morning America there was a warrant out for her arrest resulting from her allegedly breaking into her estranged husband’s home and destroying property.

I agree, but...
the article totally lacks focus.

It would have been far more effective, imo, had Hawkins chosen instead to write two articles: one for the perverted sickos, like Craig, Frank, and Senator Diaper, I mean Vitter...and another article devoted exclusively to the pork spenders, and ethics crooks.

As it is, Hawkins' article lacks focus, because it conflates very different issues- and as a result doesn't come even close to nailing either-or even naming most of the known crooks-or the philanderers, adulterers "family values" hypocrites, and known gay pervs in both parties.

Actually, it would probably require a three or four part article to treat these different subjects effectively.

It appears that Mr Hawkins was just venting for personal catharsis.

Van
You identified one of the major problems. The voters in certain states are not intelligent enough, or mature enough, to cast a ballot. Ted Kennedy and Barney Frank are perfect examples of the stupidity of Massachusetts voters.

MA reprise
Go back FIVE presidential elections and the great state of MA gave us the Democrat nominee, Michael "Prison Furlow" Dukakis.

'Nuff said.

Poor Van
The Stature for murder is FOREVER, even for demokillers.
Barney Frank Was never investigated, because the Dem's in the house wouldn't allow it.

If the people can Vote a killer(teddy) of a young girl. Barney looks like a saint instead of the pedophile he is.

I noticed Teddy's cousin liked killing young girls. Too bad teddy didn't testify for him, the way he got the other Kennedy off for rape.
Teddy's brothers had a little problem with a lady named Marilyn Monroe.
No doubt this was taught to them by old Joesph of clan leader.
Too bad because JFK was a good president but you live by the sword you die by it, that is the Kennedy curse. Karma's a touchy deal.

Now get back on your slop board and suck away.

Barney Fwank is a filthy pig, a homosexual, AND a homosexualist, that is, a promoter of homosexualism. That's why he should go.

Ted Kennedy is a murderer. That's why he should go. Forty years ago or not, he should go now! The voters of Massachusetts who have voted for him are complicit in his crime.

Our Saviour
Per Mr. Bush, "I was waiting outside the classroom when I saw the first plane hit the WTC building on tv and I thought to myself, that must be a really bad pilot". 5 minutes later as Mr. Bush sat in front of the school kids inside the classroom, Andy Card walks over and whispers " a second plane has struck the WTC."
PROBLEM---- There was no video of the first planes impact on TV until it was released by the french film crew filming the daily lives of NYC firefighters an hour or two AFTER the second plane hit. To this day, there is no other known video of the first planes impact. Just what "TV" was Mr. Bush watching?
You can investigate and be a "tool", or you can blindly dismiss and be a "fool".

Term limits
It amazes me that the first men who served in Congress in this country did so without pay - but instead served out of a sense of loyalty to the country. I would really enjoy seeing Congressional Representatives and Senators paid just enough salary to cover their basic living expenses along with very strict rules (and an abusive fine) against accepting ANY money from PACs or anyone else. Failing that, at least have term limits of 2 terms for a Senator and 3 terms for a Representative. What we currently have in Congress is getting closer every day to taxation without representation. I am a conservative but it sickens me to see all the corruption that both Democrats and Republicans are guilty of. Without the lure of money, maybe there would be a greater focus on the good of the country instead of being solely focused on remaining in power as a monarch.

As ever, Van projects ....
.... the psychopathology of totalitarianism that insists upon first finding a moral equivalence between a dhimmicrap's drunken murder of a young women and another's running of sodomy for shekels services from "his" taxpayer-subsidised town house and whatever stupidity those dhimmicrats who play "republicans" in the congress are up to and then using the "republicans'" conduct to rationalize and to justify murder, racketeering and serial sodomy.

Meanwhile there is a war being waged whose outcome will determine the survival or otherwise of Judeo-Christian/Western/Human Civilization and the likes of said Van, to the last self-and-own-culture-loathing and serially suicdal girlythingy among them, are firmly on the side of Civilization's every enemy.

And believe - sorry - "feel" that their's are defensible postions.

Too bad that when the crunch comes we who are on the side of Truth, Justice and the American Way and who recognise that the only war we are fighting -- and to the death -- will have to annihilate every last totalitarian.

For the total war in which we are engaged is, in its essense, between Libertarianism and totalitarianism.

And every American is with us.

Or he is of the enemy.

GOP= Gay Outed Party
no matter how you try to spin it, the republican party has been shown to be the bastion of closeted gays.

the american people will not forget this hypocrisy.

Queers in Congress

All your stupid remarks above quoted Van, just proves how absolutely CORRUPT the Demoncraps are and how out of touch YOU are; they get away with the most heinous of crimes for years and years and years, and are rewarded for their immoral turpitude with Senate seats in perpetuity. And when they're done breathing, they sort of "will" their regal rights to an equally crooked, sleazy relative of some sort. Ack, people like you make me sick! Your myopic ignorance is only equalled by others of your ilk on here.

The Political Pimps
... ought to be booted the minute they are proven guilty. And there should be no "plea bargaining" or anything like it. If there is enough smell to bring a criminal charge, then bring it. The trouble with our "system" is that the Demoncraps throw up such smoke screens and pretended indignation that by the time any REAL justice is meted out, the constituency has long forgotten what crap was committed and stupidly RE-ELECT these flippin' crooks again!

Now, we are facing a general election next year and lo and behold, not only are the demoncrap hypocrits doing everything they can to undermine America to the world, they are butt-kissing the moveon anarchists - scared to death of them - and things will just get worse and worse. We, the people need to get off our butts and thrown Soros and his gang of lunatics out of the country. 'Course that would mean most of the demoncraps and the ACLU would have to go with them.

Not a bad idea -- ya think?
