Was the Copenhagen Global Warming Summit Walk-Out a Win for the U.S.?

Earlier this year, top Democrats in both houses of Congress refused to attend a bipartisan briefing offered by General David Petraeus to discuss the challenges in Iraq. Next week they’ll have another chance when the General comes to Capitol Hill to brief lawmakers in the House and Senate on our progress in the Global War on Terror.

General Petraeus was unanimously confirmed by the United States Senate to be the U.S. commander of the Multinational Force in Iraq. He has a clear track record as a straight-shooter and as someone who gets things done. So one has to wonder why next week’s important briefing almost didn’t happen. According to Roll Call, when the Pentagon tried to schedule the briefing through House Democrats they were declined – twice – because Democrats were originally “too busy” to schedule anything.

Too busy? The only thing that could be more important than hearing from the top general in a war effort that is critical to America’s long-term national security would be providing our troops the resources they need to succeed. But Democrats certainly haven’t been busy doing that.

Instead, Democratic leaders pushed through a pork-laden surrender bill that would undermine General Petraeus and our troops on the ground. In an editorial titled “Do We Really Need a General Pelosi,” the Los Angeles Times said the Democrats’ plan is “an unruly mess: bad public policy, bad precedent and bad politics. If the legislation passes, Bush says he’ll veto it, as well he should.”

After that, House Democrats left Washington for the first two weeks of April in no apparent hurry to begin negotiations with the Senate on providing our troops with the funding they need. Such delays in funding, says the Secretary of the Army, “carry consequential effects, including substantial disruption to installation functions, decreasing efficiency and potentially further degrading the readiness of non-deployed units.”

Lawmakers often receive information that is filtered through media reports, bolstered by suspect polling data, or drummed up by ideologically-driven activist groups. When it comes to America’s commitment to fighting al Qaeda, this information-deficit can have real consequences.

For example, in a March press conference, General Petraeus insisted that “military action is necessary to help improve security” in Iraq. He also said military force alone “is not sufficient,” a reflection of his new strategy which relies on military, political, and diplomatic force alike. But as is their way, liberal special interest groups seized on that single phrase – military force “is not sufficient” – and presented a false portrait of what the General was saying to give cover to politicians who would rather abandon Iraq to al Qaeda than see it through to victory.

That’s why General Petraeus’ visit to Capitol Hill is so timely – and so important. Members of Congress not only need to hear about the need for a clean troop funding bill, they need to hear from America’s top commander in Iraq about the realities on the ground. Petraeus has said we will make progress even if there are setbacks along the way, and that is exactly what is happening.

The deficit of on-the-ground information has caused some Members to go so far as to outlandishly suggest the war effort is “lost.” That’s what Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid (D-NV) told reporters earlier this week, igniting a firestorm of criticism from veterans groups and others who recognize the danger of demoralizing American troops and conceding defeat to al Qaeda.

I would like to challenge my colleagues to not only attend this briefing by General Petraeus, but to come with an open mind. The General has been entrusted with an historic task; he deserves not only our full faith and support, but the courtesy of acknowledging that he knows better than 535 Members of Congress how to succeed in a war effort.

The questions for each member of Congress to consider after Senator Reid’s recent comments are real and they go to the heart at the battle against our enemies:

Do we support our troops? Or do we starve them of resources?

Do we put politics aside during a time of war? Or do we “bleed” America’s military forces in an attempt to derive partisan benefit?

Do we fight to win? Or do we preemptively declare defeat?

The most important question, however, is this: will Members of Congress listen to General Petraeus … or to Democratic leaders who believe they know best?

Gee
When the retired generals puke out leftist talking points, libtards screech about "listening to the generals."

I guess that support is situational.

There's a shock...

How do you people stand your own stench?

Surrendercrats
John, Thank you for pointing out the truth about the Democrats phony posturing and lack of concern for the war effort...Harry("Don't surrender until you see the whites of their eyes") Reid showed his true colors in his comments yesterday; Yellow, with a white flag. His comments and Nancy Pelosi's arrogance finally were too much for me...Yesterday I joined the Republican Party. I have been embarrassed by these charlatans one too many times. On a lighter note, I've heard old "Cut and Run" Harry wants to honor his home state(NEV) legalized prostitutes and in a quest for brevity change the state bird and the state motto to "The Swallow"...yikes! I hope you all are glad I'm back...keep up the good work...Grandmaster Ro

They will blame it on Bush
If the dem's get their way and we cut and run it's only a matter of time before the whacko's get another chance at costing American lives here.

When it happens, not if it happens, the dems will trot out the tired excuse that it was all Bush's fault. Not the fault of those who wish to cut and run.

Grandmaster Ro
Welcome to the right side against your old party and the mindless, medieval savages they're enabling. You have joined a growing list of rational thinking people, including my own mother, a lifelong FDR dem, who could no longer stand by and watch the seditious, traitorous dhimmicraticks undermine the Commander in Chief and our brave men in the field. She was literally sick to her stomach at the pork laden surrender bill and the glee with which Nancy and Harry celebrated it's passing.

Personally, I switched from R to independent, because I'm disgusted with all the brain dead, self-serving career politicians in DC, no matter what stripe. As a Nam vet and retired Guardsman, I wouldn't consider voting for anyone who constantly bad mouths our soldiers and heartens the enemy, who are now hunkering in their caves, hiding in the desert, or skulking amongst the innocent people in Bhagdad, smiling and thinking to themselves they now have a good chance of defeating the greatest country in history.

Harry Reid is an absolute disgrace and should resign, as should Nancy Pelosi. They and a majority of their party are owned body and soul by George Soro$ and MoveOn.org, whose money and manipulations are the epitome of corruption. Their suicidal appeasement policy is breathtaking in it's stupidity and the feckless response of the President and his party is pathetic.

Hopefully Rep. Boehner is making spinal transplants available for his colleagues and we can beat down this dangerous and unconstitutional insurrection before it destroys the United States of America, which they've pledged allegiance to, but instead, with actions and deeds are TREASONOUS and TRAITORS.

I used to wonder in amazement why they JUST DON"T GET IT! But now I'm convinced they DO get it - actively scheming to expand their power and foist their secular-progressive, socialist Utopia on us, destroying our freedoms in the process. Every right thinking lover of liberty needs to stand up, speak out and write up; combating them in every arena, whether it be in the public square and schools, internet and even the biased media.

If we stand by and allow dhimmicrats to win this war of ideas, Al Queda will control the Middle East, and very soon after bring their bloodthirsty Crusade to our shores.

Don't believe me? Just check out what THEY say about their allies, idiots like Harry and Nancy.

Queen Bee Pelosi
Somehow the fearful Queen Bee has plenty of time to meet with world despots, but no time to meet with our military leaders. She is all for dialogue with enemies but exhibits imperious silence toward our great warriors and defenders of the US way of life. There is more than political manipulation that drives the motives of this dragon lady.

Thanks for your comment Pilgrim
You hit on an interesting point. Liberals trot out the disgruntled generals and ask that we listen to them in their disgruntled-ness, but will not tell us to listen to the Generals who are now trying to prosecute the war, and trying to win it. They look for anything they can that will help their "war is lost" position, and do nothing to help us win the war. They are intent on tearing down the current effort, and jump on anything that happens negatively for us over there as a lost cause. They are a bunch of masochistic pitiful creatures, that want us to lose and want to discourage our troops and efforts.

The dems and their wishes
First off a fence worked to stave off substantial terrorist activity in Israel. This wall is being put up to stop hit and run tactics not to separate people.

Our country is being betrayed by the dems and it is not that they are against the war. If they were truly anti-war they would not have voted overwhelmingly grating war powers to the president. Harry Reid has identified the American military as losers. Nancy Pelosi has violated the Logan Act and is attempting to set up a democrat run shadow government.

The solution is for the Republicans to start doing what they were elected to do. Pelosi needs to be charged criminally with breaking the law. She should be investigated to find out what agreements she made with terrorists in the name of the US.

We have too many people in this country that really believe that we are immune to the type of terrorist activity that exists in the mideast. This country has many many soft targets. If we leave Iraq the terrorist infrastructure will seek another battlefield.

If we are going to go to war we need to win. We cannot schedule a war. In doing so we tell the enemy when we will leave and they will lay low and refit. In the case of Iraq they will make plans and execute these plans. The terrorists have made in clear that they have declared war on the US and that they will stay at it until we are defeated. With the current democrat attitude if the dems take over we will stand a very good chance of being defeated.

Brujo Blanco
I couldn't agree more. Thank you. You saved me the time that it would have taken me to say the very same things.

Whiplash
It's been said, but it surely bears repeating, that the party line has changed many times in the past five years. First, there were no weapons, but the Iraqis would use them on out troops. Then, when we stopped our forward movement for a sandstorm, the mighty Iraqi army had defeated us. Then we guarded the oil ministry, but let the museum be looted. (Notice how the news that it was only the sovenir shop that was looted, not the treasures, got buried?) Then the President lied about thhe weapons. What he said was not a lie when John Kerry said it, in the nineties, likewise both Clintons, al Gore,(sic)likewise King Abdullah, Vlad Putin, and a cast of thousands. Only George Bush lied. Now, again, the war is lost. Wars are lost when one side says they give up. Various insurgents have said that they have lost, and, on our side, the dhimmicrats. I was once a Democrat. I repented, when they were trying to steal the 2000 election. It's a good thing. I'd have terminal whiplash by now.

The Democrats
Are so busy trying to make president look bad, that they have given up their country's interests altogether. They are trying to lose before we have a chance to win. This is the United States of America, we don't lose wars!Shame on Mr. Reid!!!

Treason
Can anyone say "Treason"? They used to hang people for less than what the Democrats are doing. If their actions aren't "Giving aid and comfort to the enemy." what is?

I shudder to think what would happen in the Middle East if the U.S. withdraws. Iran would control the Shiite faction, Saudi would react to support the Sunni's. Both would attack the Kurds. Masses of Iraqis would die and other masses would depart. Jordan, Lebanon and Israel would be in chaos. Europe won't help. Russia will take advantage to strengthen their influence. We like to posture about reducing our dependence on foreign oil and I believe that we should do a lot more to develop our domestic sources and alternative energy but it takes time to rebuild our nuclear capability, learn how to tap geothermal energy and develop offshore and Alaskan sources. Solar, wind, and ethanol are only stopgaps. While we do all that, our economy suffers like we have never experienced it.
The U.S. is the only power in the world that can keep the lid on in the MIddle East. We had better start acting like it.

Thanks John
You have put things in proper perspective as it relates to the Democrat party and their desire for defeat, the media's role, and the importance of winning in Iraq.

What can you do about prosecuting the Speaker?

Traitors
roadmaster

My grandmother was also a lifelong FDR Dem but switched parties immediately after the dems pulled the U.S. out of Vietnam causing millions of innocent people to lose their life. History is now repeating itself and my 92 year old grandmother is fuming.

-------------

1. Both parties provided the President authority to take out Saddam.
2. Both parties voted to fund the war since inception.
3. Neither party has voted to take us out of Iraq despite 20/20 hindsight.
4. One party now declares the war is lost.
5. The one party declaring the war is lost will not defund it.

Now who’s putting troops in harm’s way? If the war is lost why do they continue to fund it? If the libs are so sure it’s lost, they should immediately, right now, today, without delay before one more life is lost, submit a bill that pulls America out of Iraq. These libs are spineless cowards and are borderline treasonous. If the war is lost as they declare then they are responsible for every life lost since their declaration.

I will digress for a moment. Bush, the GOP, and Gonzalez are also spineless cowards for not holding the dems accountable. I’m tired of the GOP pandering to the libs and I’m tired of hearing Bush say “I don’t question their patriotism” crap. It’s time to question their patriotism and take legal action against certain members of congress.

This isn’t politics. We’re beyond that. It’s serious stuff and lives are being lost. Reid and Associates are providing aid and comfort to the enemy and undermining our ability to win. Arrest these criminals NOW!!!

voters
I am constantly amazed how some people get elected. If you are a chritian how could you stand to vote for someone who is in favor of abortion. If you are a veteran how could you vote for someone that demeans our troops ala John Murtha and Dick Durbin? As I see it these voters put their party ahead of the country, and that my friends is shameful, included in this are many of my fellow unionists. They are by and large very nice people, but are scared to death that the repubs want to wipe out unions. What they don't want to face is that the dems want this to be a socialist country where everyone shares misery except for the leaders and let this country be a third world country.

ConSavant
I agree. If they want the war ended, they should de-fund it.

disgusted
It's too bad, isn't it, that no one thought about this before we invaded this sovereign nation, WHO DID NOT ATTACK US, NOR POSED AN IMMINENT THEAT. It was more than apparent that this would end in a civil war. Was this the intention all along?

Yes, I am disgusted too. Disgusted that we chose to attack Iraq. Disgusted that now we have a situation that will be very difficult, if not impossible, to resolve, without us staying there FOREVER. Disgusted that this war, which had nothing whatsoever to do with 9-11 has cost us BILLIONS of dollars and has our country near to bankruptcy and has resulted in the death of THOUSANDS of U.S. soldiers and innocent Iraqis.

John Boehner's article
This is the kind of thing we need all of the Republican leadership saying more of. In the face of a constant stream of inane, false, and treacherous statements from the Democrats and liberal media, there have been few examples of this being countered by anyone.

Last election was more about the inaction of the GOP than it was about anything the Dems have to offer. We are now seeing exactly how bad it could be if the Democrats gain any more power.

I applaud Mr Boehner and ask that he and the rest of the GOP stand up for the US and lead. That is what the nation is looking for and why the current slate of contenders does not inspire much exthusiasm. A real leader and statesman would win in a landslide. Everyone has had enough of polititians playing to the press or their funding sources such as George Soros.

Liberty: you are clueless
But typical of a liberal. Iraq's tie to 9-11 is the HATRED Saddam shared with Al-Queda for the United States. How long before a WMD was passed to Al-Queda FROM Saddam? Hence, your "imminent threat" theory is dissolved. Maybe, as for your "innocent Iraqis", Bombing the pi$$ out of them would make them think twice about harboring the enemy? Imminent threat? How 'bout eventual threat, fool. And then what? More talk? Your dim libs aren't even good at that!

liberty
Didn't members of your own party (I assume you are a democrat)declare Saddam was an imminent threat? Didn't ms clinton go to members of her previous administration before voting for the war? I believe she went to that genious albright to seek her advice.
I do believe clinton himself also declared
Saddam should go.

Liberty Unbalanced
Iraq no imminent threat, eh? Well how about CHRONIC threat? It invaded Kuwait. It threatened to invade Saudi. Both have oil vital to our economy. It refused to live up to its surrender terms of Gulf I. No WMD? then why did Clinton, Albright, Cohen, Burglar, Gore, Hillary, Schumer, Kerry, and all other Dems say otherwise? Want to learn more? Go here:

http://tinyurl.com/2xkf52

It's an article by Melanie Phillips, an ace UK journalist and author of "Londonistan".

Money graf: "The Republicans won’t touch this because it would reveal the incompetence of the Bush administration in failing to neutralise the danger of Iraqi WMD. The Democrats won’t touch it because it would show President Bush was right to invade Iraq in the first place. It is an axis of embarrassment."

And despite what the leftist trash in Congress will try to tell you, Saddam was working with Alqaeda. (Disagree? Then tell us, please why Richard Clarke openly worried that Osama would "boogie to Baghdad" Then tell us why Saddam gave Zawahri $300K.) Iraq funded terrorism against Israel, and gave sanctuary to terrorists who bombed or terrorized us (WTC I, Abu Nidal).

Then there's the "imminent" part: you remind me of the wimps who did nothing to stop Cho. He too was considered no "imminent threat" --- until he acted. You really think we have to wait to be attacked? And then spend months putting forces into position to respond? Snort! Go put some cucumber slices on your eyes and get a facial --- it's the modern de-balled liberal male's equivalent of sticking one's head in the sand.

Iraq then Iran
The scary thought in all this is that the Democrats truly believe they have a better understanding of foreign policy and how to secure our nation.

Imagine the world with the Democrats in charge and Iran with more than several nuclear weapons or their terrorist clients with more than several dirty bombs. What do the Democrats believe that Iran will do with their nuclear weapons? Since they don't have time to listen to General Patraeus I can't imagine they have had the time to listen the the spoutings of the Iranian president.

uh, Liberty?
You are correct in one point...that Iraq didn't attack us. But that's not the point.

Did Saddam and his government violate the terms of the 1991 cease-fire treaty? If the answer is yes, then we were OBLIGED under international law to reform the Desert Storm Coalition and return to Iraq to remove him and his government from power.

He started violating the terms of that cease-fire in a blatant manner as soon as Bubba got elected, but Bubba did nothing about it (except by launching a couple of cruise missiles to get Monica off the front pages).

The result was that we didn't finish the job in 1993 or 1994. If we had, the mid-east situation would have been much different. Iraq might have been fully pacified quickly, since the current version of Islamic facism wasn't as active as it is now. Al Quaida wouldn't have been in Iraq. A free Iraq and a bolstered US presence might have changed the tunes that Syria and Iran have been whistling.

PJ O'Rourke was an optimist
In "Give War A Chance", PJ O'Rourke (a reformed hippie) opined "No baby boomer will ever be elected to national office. We won't vote for us. We know us."

Too bad he was wrong. Perhaps seeing what happens when we vote for us, we'll stop it before we all run over the cliff.

Or maybe we ought to go back to agonizing over why Sanjaya got turfed from American Idol.

My name's not Neal Boortz,
but somebody's got to say it: The democrats do not want to win this war, nor any war, as long as a republican administration stands to gain from it politically. And if Gen Petraeus' surge begins to bear fruit, the wretched democrats led by their invidious surrender monkey-in-chief, Sen Reid, could possibly lose political leverage on their 2008 march to the White House.

Dems refuse to meet Petreaus
( Dems)Are they out of their minds? Perhaps, it is a rhetorical question.

Democratic defeat
The Dems. have decided they are the party of defeat. Their so-called blue dogs are really pinko dogs. When they got to DC, their anti-abortion and pro-troops campaign rhetoric soon changed to follow in lock-step the Dem. caucus party line. Maybe some of the people that voted for them will remember that their promises were the usual lies from the usual suspects.

Contact Congress
Everyone who writes here should also contat Congress. Oour reps. may be near idiots on both sides, but they can't tell how you feel about Iraq and the Defeat'ic party unless you tell them.

your hatred of your fellow americans who are liberal is evil. hate only feeds the devil or haven't you learned that in your bible.

conservatives had control of this country for 12 years and there was more immorality and corruption than in any liberal majority.

Lynne, Pelosi hasn't been called
to task for her actions and behaivor because Americans have been dumbed down for so many decades now by our education system which has done a miserable job of teaching history and therefore cannot get their head around why defeat in the Iraq war would put us in such grave danger. Americans have a seriously deficiency in strategic thought.

I can't believe more of you folks
aren't ready to jump on board traitor harry's loser train...hey look, we could all become losers, in effect victims & the liberals would quickly establish social programs to take care of us...why resist, let's all become losers & get on the dole, grow our hair long again, stop batheing & move to communes...by the time the muslims take over the US we could be a peaceful 3rd world country of peace-loving moonbat morons craving guidance & domination...let's all get on board reid's & muslim cat stevens loser peace train...on the other hand we could put traitor harry reids head on pike in the middle of Arlington National Cemetary

religiouslib
I don't agree with Kathy on a lot of issues but at least she has the guts and energy to strongly oppose what she believes is wrong.

You assertion that the republicans have been more corrupt than democrats is silly. It's not the political party, it's the idea that we can steal for ourselves and our agendas from the public treasuries - an area where I believe both you and Kathy are guilty.

That's the real hate and corruption - theft and coercion in the promotion of your own interests.

Head over
To my new blog and get re-energized, folks. We have to keep the momentum alive...talk is cheap and (in)action can have great consequences...click my name.

religiouslib
Republicans more corrupt? It really depends if the same measuring stick is being used to measure both parties, right?

When one group has just about zero standards, it's real hard to find one corrupt person. When another group values life, even the unborn, and tries to live life to a certain high standard, then of course you'll find many who fail those standards. But they get up and try again. Liberals cheer at the failure of a conservative and use it for political gains, just has you have done by unfairly pointing out that cons are more corrupt than libs.

When a conservative fails the standard they're trying to live by liberals point fingers, and call them hypocrites. While at the same time liberals remove all notions of accountability by not living by any standard except that which is defined by SCOTUS or the moral of the day.

Now, for you to make a claim that the GOP is more corrupt than the Democratic Party is totally baseless, misleading, and a flat out lie. People like you measure yourself with a ruler while you measure non-liberals with a rod (16.5 feet).

I'll leave you with this little thought:

You will be judged by the same standard you judge others, maybe not today or tomorrow but one day.

Rep Boehner
Sir, you would be doing all of us a good turn if you would reply to some of the really good posts here. Too true, there are several who rant here that we would just as soon go back to their comic books--religiouslib, etc.
We seriously want some sign that the Republican party has not completely lost your cojones!!!
It is sad to see the President, whom I voted for twice, wimp out so BADLY that he is a mere shadow of that man who stood on the debris on 9/11--- for one thing, when you wait for months and months to follow up on the dastardly and filthy-minds who brought that on our country-- (anyone recall with me the satellite pictures showing truck after truck after truck heading to Iran and Syria?)---these were not just guys going on holiday---they were taking OUT all those weapons of MASS DESTRUCTION which the blind leftists claim were not there. Please--- take your dopey heads out of the sand.
And please---
Rep. Boehner--- I have been so impressed with your wise estimations of the situation any time I have heard you speak.
If you have any influence with your comrades will you please please tell them the American people are sick to death of their wussy wimping out every time the DAMS do or say anything. Why oh why is not anyone bringing pressure to bear on those unbearable twits in the house and senate who want us to lose. The antics of 'queenie pelosi' and harry "Benedict Arnold" reid makes me want to 'pook'-- as a little grandchild would say 'puke'!!!!!

Crawfish
"If the answer is yes, then we were OBLIGED under international law to reform the Desert Storm Coalition and return to Iraq to remove him and his government from power."

Are you saying that our troops are controlled by the dictates of the United Nations?

Lynne
Tommy Franks can stick it in his ear. He has also said that we will have martial law declared in this country if we have another terrorist attack. How very convenient, the very unconstitutional Presidential Executive Order is all ready to go right now. How do you feel about having the Constitution suspended?

consavant
there are scoundrels on both sides.

you can trot all sorts of this or that and we can play tit for tat but don't lecture me about your high standards.

I do not deny democrats can be just as corrupt as republicans but to arrogantly say that republicans are held to a higher standard because they have higher standards is simply hubris.

it is simply a myth that some conservatives want to convince themselves of.

bush is an alcoholic
rush is a drug addict
bennett is a gambling addict.
oreilly is a sexual predator

cunningham, ney and delay, libby, and now doolittle have been convicted, or under indictment or under investigation.

barr, burton , hyde , livingston and gingrich were guilty of affairs as they feigned self-righteous shock over clinton.

guilani has been divorced twice and mccain once.

the dems are just as bad but you are worse because you actually believe in your heart of hearts that you are better when it is obvious to most americans that you are not.

that is a major part of the reason you lost the last election. some of you are in self-denial.

AHA!!
Now we know why reid did and said what he done did this past week! The Leftinistra are about to get a nose bleed and reid is trying to begin the process to discredit the man they confirmed unanimously to lead the war effort.

Is it any wonder that we think the Leftinistra are morons?

Religeouslib
You forgot to mention the Chapaquedick Life Guard.

religiouslib (oxymoron)
You're the one that asserted cons are more corrupt than dems. I debunked your assertion, proved why you are wrong, and now you call may statements "arrogant"? Who was the arrogant one the made the assertion in the first place, YOU! Who is trying to use con failures for political purposes and establish some kind of dem moral high ground? YOU!

Who’s the arrogant one here? YOU!

It’s all about which values (measuring sticks) one uses to judge people. You’re comparing apples and oranges then arrogantly asserting one is better than the other, when in fact the standard used for judging is completely different.

Had you applied the con standards to dems, Clinton, Barny Frank, W. Jefferson, Reid and many other libs would have resigned in shame long ago, but you chose not to. What does that say about you and more importantly your standards?

Liberals choose not to pursue any standard but then turn around and use the standards of others to discredit and demonize them, including political opponents, clergy, people of faith, and many other non-liberals that fail the test from time to time. Yea those are some great lib values, don’t you think? Sounds pretty evil to me. What would you call it?

YOU WILL BE JUDGED BY THE SAME STANDARD YOU JUDGE OTHERS.

Liberty
No, we aren't controlled by the UN. The US led the Coalition and signed the cease-fire with Saddam's government. WE dictated the terms of the cease-fire (GHW Bush and Colin Powell were the ones who pretty much wrote it). When a nation signs a cease-fire document like that, it carries obligations to uphold the terms, and obligations if the terms are broken.

It is very simple
It is very simple so do not look for hidden agendas.
If Pelosi, Reid and their ilk attend a briefing then they can not plead ignorance of the real facts and do the things necessary to accomplish our goals in Iraq in a timely fashion.

Elisabeth...
Washington Post & MSNBC.com as legitimate unbiased news sources??? lay off the kool-aid sister!

they cherry-picked his comments. get the real interview at Army or Navy or AF Times - where it is unabridged & unedited.

Liberty...
http://fmso.leavenworth.army.mil/products-docex.htm

this site contains the contents of 55,000 boxes of documents etc taken from iraqi intel headquarters.

among them are plans for the iraqi military to train taliban and al-pelosi, er, al-qaeda terrorists - as far back as 1997. hmmm who was president then? oh that's right! he dumped 1100+ CIA analysts on the street in March 1993 - from the mideast and africa sections. no wonder we didn't know about it.

note: site was shut down for a while because of instructions of how to produce dirty nuke bombs and make chemical weapons in your kitchen were contained therein-don't know if it's up yet.

A different slant
Here is something that I am going to start in my area and see if it starts to be widespread. I suggest that we write letters to all Mothers of Blue Star and Gold Star mothers. Asking them to participate in writing and emailing Ms. Pelosi, Harry Reid, and all the others that took the journey to Syria with the Speaker of the House. We do not want a shadow government installed, while we still breathe the air of Freedom. Gather the names of necessary websites, so the names are broght back here, all those who took the Jihad Jaunt. Then a contact for all of the Senators and websites of the Senators, they will have to get their own represenatives name and website. Then the address of the website of the Democratic Headquarters and any other sites that you patriotic rascals can offer.

I believe that there is a print emblem under each post, so that will insure the work does not need any recopying and then when we are compiled, send our finding and contact hints, to every parent you know that has a Army soldier, a Navt sailor, a Marine, or Airforce member, and see uf we cannot upset the Democrat's applecart. It is one of the most effective means that we have instead of merely speaking to others who think much as we do.

I cannot tell you how impressed I am at the amount of patriotism and great thoughts presented by all of you. If there is something wrong with my idea, rebound with your refinement. Who said this old guy can lead? At this age I can bearly walk. But I can type some. That cataracts are worsening, but my heart still pounds harder, when I see old Glory. If worse comes to worse, I will volunteer to go back into service and do whatever it might be that could release a person in the military to be returned to battle or a place where their service can be better utilized. Sorry folks, if one of our soldiers were in a face off with a Jihadi, my eyes are not that good, I would have to pass on the shot. Up close, with a handgun, the Jihadist is a feast for his camel.

Let us not talk about what to do, take your idea and bring it to the front. Note: we should also contact our Senators, House Representative and all your friends and tell them to pass on our messages, and pass this idea along to other bloggers, until our combined efforts sweep Washington like a giant tsunami and overwhelm the numb ones, sitting in our Congress and halls of power in our national capitol. My respects, Grandpa Two Canes

Go Boehner Go
It is a statement when Pelosi will meet with Middle Eastern Leaders and not our Generals. What a joke. Being from Southwest Ohio, I am wondering why John Boehner isn't throwing his hat in the ring.

facts and truth
"Do we support our troops?...Do we put politics aside during a time of war?...Do we fight to win?"

if i were a democrat, leftist or "liberal" then the obvious answer to all of these would be NO. i am not any of those so the answer for me is YES. setting those questions aside, the democrats don't want to meet with petraeus because they would be presented with facts and truth, two things that make them extremely uncomfortable.

Speaker Boner
Your National Priapism has expired.

religiouslib...
Stuff it, numbskull.
I guess we can go back and forth, as you say.
Heck, I'm up for the challenge.
Let's see:
William "cold cash" Jefferson
Murtha telling bribesters he'd work with them later
Clinton lying under oath to a federal investigator, then under oath to a federal court (WHILE he was President)
Kennedy slept with Marilyn Monroe while married (and in the white house) and everyone knew about it.
His brother killed a woman while driving drunk and covered it up.
Carter shot at an attack beaver.
Clinton staffers stole national security documents and destroyed them.
Clinton fired US Attorneys who were investigating his wrongdoing and hid it while he 'cleaned house'.
Carter let American hostages sit as Iranian hostages for 444 days, then left the negotiations for their release up to the banks.
The democrats pledge to end pork spending, then shut down the organization that tracks pork spending.
Puh-leaze.
Yes, there is corruption on both sides of the aisle.
But you list:
"bush is an alcoholic"
He hasn't had a drink in decades.
"rush is a drug addict"
rush isn't a politician. I wonder if Jeffrey Dahmer was a democrat? Does it matter? Of course not, noodle head.
"bennett is a gambling addict."
Oh dear. You mean he likes to gamble? Shame on him! grow up!
"oreilly is a sexual predator"
Huh? Says you! At most, he sexually harrassed someone, but since that matter was settled we'll never really know the whole truth. But hey, why not convict him and make an accusation of a crime when we have no proof! Great idea. Guilty until proven innocent? how very american.

"guilani has been divorced twice and mccain once."
I guess divorce is an example of 'corruption'?
Putz.

"that is a major part of the reason you lost the last election."

I just love it when libs talk out of their rear ends.
Hey dummy! We lost seats because the left was able to spread lies and misinformation. The entire liberal platform consisted of ONE talking point - Bush bad.
We lost because we weren't able to combat 6 years of the liberal media beating up Bush, the right, and misrepresenting the war.
Keep believing that your side "won".
That ought to make you feel better when you lose to a Republican in 08.
Make sure to put all your money on Shrillary the stupid or Obama the purchased.

Jeffispuie
Sit down and shut up runt. We did it your folks way for 6 years and you accomplished nothing good. Now, if you little screaming mimis be nice and shut up, we might spare you some of the grief. Otherwise, your shrill rhetoric will be regarded as farsical at best and will continue to have a negative effect on public opinion of Conservatives. I happen to like most Conservatives and I don't want to see them destroyed by little whiney neocons who can't see the forest for the trees.
