Media ignores or downplays homegrown terror attack in Seattle

Will the Dems' health care Christmas Present to America be an improvement or detriment to our health care system?

Hiding behind potted plants, Naveed Haq laid in wait for a 14-year-old girl he could use as a hostage. With a gun in her back, he pushed his way past security and through the door. He coldly, deliberately shot six women. When a wounded Pamela Waechter tried to flee up some stairs, he followed her, leaned over a railing and killed her.

Are these the actions of a crazy person?

A crazy person might cause harm to himself, maybe even someone close to him. Haq, though, did not know anyone at the Seattle Jewish Federation. He traveled some distance late last month from central Washington, getting there after determining his target following an Internet search for “something Jewish.”

That wasn’t all of his planning. Because of Washington law, Haq waited to purchase his two semiautomatic handguns, picking them up one day earlier.

Premeditation is the antithesis of crazy. So why is it that the mainstream media has either ignored or played down this story? The New York Times has written only one article. Ditto for the Washington Post. Both papers buried what little coverage they did offer, on page 22 and page 13, respectively.

Most of those outlets that publicized the shootings have focused on Haq’s history of mental illness, the most serious of which was bipolar disorder. Great attention has been paid to his apparently having acted alone. And some have reported that sometime last year, the accused murderer was a practicing Christian.

In other words, media outlets have spent fantastic energy exploring every possibility—except the obvious one. Moments after spraying bullets across the offices of the Jewish Federation, he announced, “I’m a Muslim-American; I’m angry at Israel.” So while Haq’s short-lived apparent conversion to Christianity might be interesting, it neither inspired the murderous rampage nor serves as evidence that something in his Islamic environment did not.

Where is the investigation into what messages Haq heard in his hometown mosque, which was founded by his father? Or how about a look at the culture and attitudes of his hometown Muslim community?

No doubt that sensitivities and hang-ups in part prevent such inquiries, but isn’t it possible that those issues are ignored out of fear? Having one case of homegrown terror wouldn’t just be about the single incident. With over 1,200 mosques in the U.S.—and that’s not counting the thousands of makeshift ones in homes and storefronts—the enormity of the potential threat becomes terrifying. How many would need to be bad seeds for another 19 to line up for the “glory” of killing another 3,000?

None of this is to suggest that any mosque is presumptively suspect. That’s just one possibility. Incendiary Islamic teachings can be downloaded in the click of a mouse. In the case of Naveed Haq, isn’t there just cause to wonder where his mind was poisoned?

What Haq almost certainly would not have heard in a mosque is any call to wage violent jihad or chants of “Death to America.” Almost no imam would do so after 9/11. But what if he had been told that U.S. soldiers were regularly committing atrocities against innocent fellow Muslims in Iraq? Or what if his imam told him that Israel was ethnically cleansing his Muslim brethren?

From the records of terror suspects arrested since 9/11, a clear pattern emerges: operatives are inspired most by the belief that Islam or Muslims are under attack. It is indisputable that Haq was acting in response to perceived wrongs committed against his fellow Muslims in Iraq and Lebanon—and he blamed Jews.

The leader of the now-arrested Canadian terror cell, Imam Qayyum Abdul Jamal, reportedly did not preach violent jihad to his congregation, but he did tell them, among other things, that Canadian soldiers were going to Afghanistan “to rape women.” Not only does this dehumanize non-Muslim Canadians, but it leaves the clear implication that killing them is not just moral, but obligatory.

Someone who digests and accepts such propaganda—about “ethnic cleansing” in Lebanon, for instance—can have one of three possible reactions: 1) becoming tolerant or even supportive of Islamic terror, 2) deciding to join al Qaeda or its ilk in order to defend his Muslim brothers and sisters, or 3) snapping after being overcome with rage at what is happening, and then taking matters into his own hands.

Recent college graduate Mohammed Reza Taheri-azar slammed a rented SUV this March into a crowd of students at the University of North Carolina, hitting nine. The Iranian-born 22-year-old told the 911 dispatcher that he was attempting to “punish the government of the United States for [its] actions around the world.” In court days later, he said he was “thankful for the opportunity to spread the will of Allah.”

While Naveed Haq’s mental problems might have lowered his inhibitions or impaired his judgment, there is little else that distinguishes his actions from those of Taheri-azar—except that he was successful. He clearly had become consumed with the malicious belief that Jews were committing atrocities against his fellow Muslims, and he saw it as his duty as a Muslim to do something.

Calling Haq “crazy” is comforting, but hardly congruous with known facts. Avoiding necessary questions is not the answer. Ignoring the simmering threats won’t keep them from boiling over.

Re: Compulsion in Government
Lydia writes: It is correct that there is no compulsion in religion in Islam. In fact, at one time early Islam worried about creating too many Muslims from infidels because Muslims wouldn't have enough infidels to pay the poll tax or to loot (Karsh). So they aren't always very interested in everyone being a Muslim, despite their call for world domination."

Well done, Lydia. Alas, your words and the facts you state fall on deaf ears when directed to a dedicated anti-Semite.

In the delusional mind of the Jew hater the only evil that exists is The Jew and the Zionist entity he inhabits that is called Israel. In all likelihood he might not mind converting to Islam - if it means he can continue embracing his one true passion. If not, he will happily live in the squalor of dhimmitude, knowing that his Muslim overlords are continuing the jihad against the Jew he so bitterly detests.

Reminds me of an old Russian tale about Boris and Igor. Both are dirt poor serfs who live in shacks. Both sweat out a living in the fields. But Boris can't stand Igor because Igor works just a little bit harder and therefore can set aside just a little bit more rubles until one day he is able to purchase a goat. This drives Boris nuts with envious rage.

One day in the field Boris is pulling out the beet crop when he discovers an old lamp. As he rubs it a genie appears and tells him he has one wish and that the genie can grant anything, ANYTHING he desires, be it silver, gold, or even the Czar's palace.

Without hesitation Boris makes his request: "I want that Igor's goat should die."

Insurance
The MSM thinks of itself first and foremost.

It knows that as long as it provides a platform for terrorists to spout their hatred of America, and is willing to undermine the morale of America's military, attack its political leaders, and disclose its secrets to its islamist enemies that it's safe from attack by lone gunmen like Haq, or organized terror cells like the ones that took down the Towers.

So while islamists strive to kill more Americans the MSM will go about its self-righteous business of blaming America and Israel for everything that's wrong with the muslim world.

How's that for insurance against attack?

NemoParticularis: "The Quran, on the other hand, makes it clear that if the non-believer resists conversion he must be killed, a belief that has been put into consistent practice in the past 1,400 years. "

mike_hihn writes: "I've already cited Deuteronomy, several centuries earlier. We can also go back to Exodus, where the extermination of the Canaanites as ordered by God -- for their beliefs."

Once difference is that the Torah is divinely inspired whereas the Quran is the diary of a mad bedouin. But for those who reject the existence of God altogether, see farther below.

mike_hihn writes: The Jews have been slaughtering entire civilizations, and blaming God for it, since (almost) the beginning of time. In some instances, all you have to do is kidnap two of their people.

Now THAT is quality hyperbole. Entire civilizations? Since - almost - the beginning of time? Good ones. And the snide remark about the kidnapped soldiers in the present day...what a clever little Jew hater you are!

For starters, if we use the OT strictly as a historical text, absent any divine inspiration, it takes us back only about 6000 years or so - hardly to the beginning of time, if we are to believe that civilized society began forming about 12,000 years ago.

Sure, the Jews of ancient Israel did their share of killing but they also got their arses kicked quite frequently by some pretty nasty kingdoms and on two occasions were actually carried off into captivity as slaves, the first time in Babylon and the second in Egypt. The sword literally cut both ways for these people. With the passage of time they settled down, established their kingdom and eventually were enveloped, first by the empire of Alexander and later the empire of Rome, at which point they were reduced to a vassal state before being obliterated in 79 AD. Resurrected in 1948 on a parcel of land comprising about 7/10 of one percent of all the land in the pan-Arab Muslim world, Israel has been attacked viciously by its Muslim neighbors since the day it was created.

Contrast this with Islam, a barbaric, death-worshipping warrior religion from the day it was concocted by Mohammed. It has done nothing but wage war against any and all it encountered and continues to encounter.

What is so sad is that your hatred of Jews and of Israel is so intense, so consuming, that you will actually go out of your way to defend Islam - if it means squeezing out just a few more cheap shots at the target of your hatred. Like so many of your kind you happily ignore a far greater peril in order to indulge your particular pathology. There is nothing that can be learned from you that we haven't already seen in those whose bootsteps you now march.

Re: Another Bible reading :-)
Nemo sez: "In actuality the number of wives and the beating of wives are separate issues found in two separate Suras."

mike_hihn writes: "Thanks for confirming the lie about 4:34."

Actually, I made a mis-statment. I meant to write that it was two separate verses within the same Sura...as you can see by the number references. It wasn't a lie. If anything, it was a lack of proper attribution. It should have read: Sura 4:3,34

The fact is that the Quran permits Muslim men multiple wives - a practice that continues to this day.

The fact is that the Quran permits Muslim men to marry slaves or captive women - and slavery is practiced to this day in the Muslim world.

The fact is that the Quran permits Muslim men to beat their wives - a practice that most certainly continues to this day.

The fact is that Steve is right and you are wrong.

mike_hihn writes: I found four totally different translations for each verse. Would you like the link?

I'm aware of differences in the various translations, but four TOTALLY different translations? I've seen many translations of these verse and, more or less, they confirm the same central thought or concept.

mike_hihn writes: If you wish to make an issue of polygamy, how convenient to again ignore the Bible. Do you know what a concubine is? :-)

You then proceed to drag out all the instances in the OT where polygamy is permitted. Just one problem: as Judaism progressed through time the practice of polygamy was abandoned in favor of monogamy, which was the theological and cultural rule by the time of Jesus, who not only reinforced the concept of monogamy, but threw cold water on the concept of divorce.

To this day neither Jews nor Christians (Mormons don't really count)condone or practice polygamy, so your references are totally irrelevant. Here's a hint: never ask a question or raise an issue that you do not already know the answer to or you can be in for some embarrassing surprises.

mike_hihn writes: Anyhting else you'd like to learn?

Sure. Given your track record so far, I'd like to learn how you deal with public humiliation in light of the drubbing you've been getting in the past three days.

Another Bible reading :-)
Nemo sez: "In actuality the number of wives and the beating of wives are separate issues found in two separate Suras."

Thanks for confirming the lie about 4:34.

Nemo sez: "Bull-puckey. You are just too lazy to do any research."

Allow me to clarify, I found four totally different translations for each verse. Would you like the link?

If you wish to make an issue of polygamy, how convenient to again ignore the Bible. Do you know what a concubine is? :-)

In Exodus 21:10, a man can marry as many wives as he wants, as long as the "rights" of existing wives are not diminished.

In 2 Samuel 5:13; 1 Chronicles 3:1-9, 14:3, King David had six wives and numerous concubines.

In 1 Kings 11:3, King Solomon had 700 wives and 300 concubines. (Muslims get screwed again - no pun intended)

In 2 Chronicles 11:21, King Solomon's son Rehoboam had 18 wives and 60 concubines.

In Deuteronomy 21:15 "If a man has two wives, and he loves one but not the other, and both bear him sons...

Anyhting else you'd like to learn?

NemoParticularis (a Bible lesson)
"The Quran, on the other hand, makes it clear that if the non-believer resists conversion he must be killed, a belief that has been put into consistent practice in the past 1,400 years. "

I've already cited Deuteronomy, several centuries earlier. We can also go back to Exodus, where the extermination of the Canaanites as ordered by God -- for their beliefs.

The Jews have been slaughtering entire civilizations, and blaming God for it, since (almost) the beginning of time.

In some instances, all you have to do is kidnap two of their people.

Anything else you'd like to learn?

Re: Steve (2)
mike_hihn writes: "Domestically - no. Because he is instructed to marry four women and beat and scourge his wife when she disobeys him (Quran 4:34)." Bull-puckey. This time I'll allow those of you with integrity to google this on your own.

Okeedokee. Here's what I found. In actuality the number of wives and the beating of wives are separate issues found in two separate Suras.

Sura 4:3 And if you fear that you shall not be able to deal justly with the orphan girls, then marry other women of your choice, two or three, or four but if you fear that you shall not be able to deal justly with them, then only one of the captives and the slaves that your right hands possess. That is nearer to prevent you from doing injustice.

Sura 4:34 The men are made responsible for the women, and Allah has endowed them with certain qualities, and made them the bread earners. The righteous women will cheerfully accept this arrangement, since it is Allah's commandment, and honor their husbands during their absence. If you experience rebellion from the women, you shall first talk to them, then deserting them in bed, then you may beat them. If they obey you, you are not permitted to transgress against them. Allah is Most High, Supreme.

So, in fact, Steve is correct.

The Quran, unlike the Bible does not have easily definable translations/versions of the entire work.

Bull-puckey. You are just too lazy to do any research. It should also be noted that in this particular Sura can be found the verse that denies the crucifixion and death Jesus:

Sura 4:37 And for claiming that they killed the Messiah, Jesus, son of Mary, the messenger of Allah. In fact, they never killed him, they never crucified him - they were made to think that they did. All factions who are disputing in this matter are full of doubt concerning this issue. They possess no knowledge; they only conjecture. For certain, they never killed him.

Unfortunately, for the veracity of Mohammed's direct revelation from Allah, the crucifixion and death of Jesus of Nazareth is corroborated in Roman texts outside of the New Testament.

NemoParticularis
>"There is a crucial difference, of course - one that you either ignored or refused to even acknowledge: the prohibition expressed in the First Commandment is binding on Jews and Christians"

And the Quran is binding on only Muslims. So?

In case you missed the point: He lied about the Quran. And I provided evidence for my claim by quoting it.

But let's read on in Exodus, shall we?

"I the Lord your God am a jealous God, punishing children for the iniquity of parents, to the third and the fourth generation of those who reject me,"

I guess that's the "forgiving God's" view on non-Jews and non-Christians, eh? Until the Fourth Generation! So much for Free Will.

And how convenient of you to ignore Deuteronomy 13:6-13:10, which instructs followers to kill those believing in other Gods.

Here's how it ends, slick

"13:9 But thou shalt surely kill him; thine
hand shall be first upon him to put him to
death, and afterwards the hand of all the
people.
13:10 And thou shalt stone him with stones,
that he die;"

So ... apparently all the anti-Muslim hate I see here is just God's will, eh?

BTW, in Steve's original post, it's also a lie to claim Muslims are told to marry four women (4:34). But bigots always believe what they want to believe, on blind faith.

Steve (2)
>"Domestically - no. Because he is instructed to marry four women and beat and scourge his wife when she disobeys him (Quran 4:34)."

Bull-puckey.

This time I'll allow those of you with integrity to google this on your own. The Quran, unlike the Bible does not have easily definable translations/versions of the entire work.

Re: Steve
mike_hihn writes to Steve: "Nathan Tabor has posted feedback on the idea that Muslim can actual function in our culture - Which you have accepted on blind faith alone -- the same thing you accuse Muslims of."

Not blind faith at all, Mikhail, just on the merits of what is written in the Quran itself and what we already know if Islamic culture.

Mikehihn: Let's examie just one of his claims that you so eagerly repeat."Religiously - no. Because no other religion is accepted by his Allah except Islam (Quran, 2:256)" Okay, I googled that and here's what I found.

"2:256 There is no compulsion in religion. The right direction is henceforth distinct from error. And he who rejecteth false deities and believeth in Allah hath grasped a firm handhold which will never break. Allah is Hearer, Knower"

Look familiar, Steve? Perhaps Exodus 20:1-17?

How about the First Commandment: "Thou shalt have no other gods before me."

There is a crucial difference, of course - one that you either ignored or refused to even acknowledge: the prohibition expressed in the First Commandment is binding on Jews and Christians only and there is no requirement in either religion that Jews or Christians force Judaism or Christianity on others. The Quran, on the other hand, makes it clear that if the non-believer resists conversion he must be killed, a belief that has been put into consistent practice in the past 1,400 years.

mike_hihn,
"The is no media conspiracy to minimize this story. All murders are tragic, and this is a purely local story, and one deranged killer."

I disagree. On my blog I've got a story about a guy who ran over some thug who stole 15 bucks from him. That's a local story.

A Muslim dude who shoots some Jewish women and then says, "I am a Muslim American, angry at Israel," is a national story. This might be, just maybe, because of 9/11 and the current deal in Lebanon.

Further, some people might look at the story in my blog and be interested out of curiousity, but not relevancy. I (and most of the posters here by the looks of it) see the Naveed Haq story as very relevant. I'm willing to be that most people would, too, if they got the chance to hear about it.

Steve
>"Nathan Tabor has posted feedback on the idea that Muslim can actual function in our culture:"

Which you have accepted on blind faith alone -- the same thing you accuse Muslims of.

Let's examie just one of his claims that you so eagerly repeat.

Perhaps Exodus 20:1-17?

How about the First Commandment: "Thou shalt have no other gods before me."

Hmmmm, you the same one sending me all those goofy chain emails?

Hate
Hate eats away at the very heart and soul of the haters, and surely blinds all of their good and common sense, if any. When the Bush hating media, and the Bush hating legislators chime in and spout the same hate messages as do the Muslims, and especially their clerics, how can people who are "on the edge" rightly divide the truth of what is being said. I think we should begin to deport all Muslim Clerics who incite violence, teach hate, encourage acts of terror, and inflame the natural inborn tendency of all Muslims to distrust Jews and Christians. What a surprise they will all have when they wake up in HELL instead of Paradise, but in the meanwhile we must be vigilent and recognize they want to kill us and destroy Israel completely. We cannot make any apologies for any "moderate" Muslims because if they believe the Koran, they believe in terror...that is what it preaches...pretty simple, yes?

Not crazy just fervent
The gunman in Seattle, the UK airline bombers, the 9-11 terrorists all have something in common. God told them to do what they had to do. They were just following orders. We don't have to find a conspiracy. We just have to understand Islam. You can ignore it if you want. I was scared to death last night watching Nasrallah on C-Span. He was calm, sane and totally dispassionate, but repeatedly called Israelis beasts, and lied about there not being lanchers in Qana. Just because someone is bi-polar and a muslim does not mean we have to forget that he is part of a global war with us, to the death.

Who is crazy?
I don't think I have a problem with the notion that the Seattle killer was crazy.

I do have a problem with the idea that suicide bombers in Israel are sane.

And does it really matter whether they are sane? The danger they pose is identical either way.

Speculation and conspiracy theories
The is no media conspiracy to minimize this story. All murders are tragic, and this is a purely local story, and one deranged killer.

Anyone who feels otherwise is obliged to show some connection to a larger organization, or plot. Instead, we get endless speculation and hints of a media coverup.

Unless and until somebody shows it's not a purely localized tragedy, then it's not the job of the national media to be investigating all those speculative hunches and theories. That's the job of law enforcement and the Seattle news media.

Seattle has a regional office of the FBI and Justice department. Has anybody asked THEM what they're doing -- which would be a lot more productive?

Mowbray does not seem to have checked either Seattle paper -- the Times or Post-Intelligencer -- to see their level of coverage, which has been rather extensive. In a two-newspaper town, there is plenty of competition for scoops.

Bipolar
I sympathize with anyone with any physical or mental disorder. Yet the unvarnished truth of the matter is that neither, regardless of the nature of the condition, can be used to justify, explain, or excuse, any behavior harmful, much less deadly, to others.

I've known a number of bipolar (and personality disordered) individuals. Without drugs, and without exception, I've noticed all can control their manic and depressive, when they find it expedient to do so.

Modern psychology loves boxes and labels. But people, whatever their handicaps, do not have to accept them, or live by them. When I was a child I disliked peas so much that I picked them out of vegetable soup. My mother thought it was funny, so invariably commented upon it to all comers. I continued avoiding peas long after I developed a taste for them, not to "let her down."

Is this example anything akin to a chemical imbalance? Of course not. But our minds and our feelings are our own, and our own responsibilities. When they malfunction, we might better serve ourselves, if all else fails, with a legitimate faith healer than with a psychologist or psychiatrist. The old joke about dermatologists and psychiatrists having it great because their patients never die and never get better, is not too far from the mark. Faith healers have nothing to gain, other than helping people, and glorifying God.

In any case, neither ignorance nor insanity is excuse under God for murder, and there was a very long time it was no excuse in American courts either. If anything, the insane murderer, whether premediated, or not, gives society more reason to lock him up permanently than the sane. If society doesn't know what he will do for what reason, and he admits he doesn't know what he will do for what reason, nobody can ever be safe from him. Hence, my advice to you is "get over it." Do I think that's as easily done as said. Absolutely not, but that doesn't prove it's bad advice. Sympathize with the victims, not the "dis-eased," and help the diseased, if you have integrity, especially if you are among and understand the diseased. Think about the meaning of the word, and do something about it.

They are muslims
Joel is correct. They are not just "negative" people, or bi-polar, or offended by big America. They are muslims who are trying to kill us, convert us or make us slaves. Any muslim who says otherwise is lying. But that lie is mandated by their Quran, so it is not like when Israelis or Americans lie for selfish reasons. They are lying because God said they have to, aoccording to their belief, and they are not going to change their minds, no matter what. No matter how many of their children are killed.

He may just be crazy
I sent this directly to the commentator and figured I would drop it here as well.

I suggest that you do more research into the nature of bipolar disorder. I suffer from the illness myself, and it IS an illness. Granted, his religious beliefs did lead to the massacre, but premeditation does not prove a lack of mental illness. He may not be "crazy" in the general, raving loony sense, but I can definitely see how his underlying disorder let to his ultimate action. When people think of "crazy", and apparently you fall in this group as well, they typically picture someone suffering from disorganized schizophrenia. I understand that this is an opinion piece, and you are entitled to your own opinion. But before commenting on mental illness, make sure that you know what you are talking about. History is full of people who weren't right in the head who have committed crimes with a high degree of premeditation. Have you forgotten Mark David Chapman? What about the hundreds of serial killers that have been documented? Are they sane? Bipolar disorder when in the manic state can definitely be described as insane. Well, I am rambling, and I think by now you've gotten my point. Research more.

He may, in fact, be crazy
I sent this directly to the commentator and figured I would drop it here as well.

Media priorities
This shooting didn't get much coverage nationally because Mel Gibson made his "crazy" anti-semitic ranting, 90 mph drive that day too. (Which Townhall columnists are still apologizing for by saying it was the booze talking, or moral relativism of comparing to something silly some "leftist" said, etc.)

Our MSM is owned by giant corporations (GE, Disney/Time Warner). Those corporations prefer to sppon feed us inane "celebrity news" daily. As opposd to covering what really affects us, from deficit spending to special interest running this country, to lousy schools, to people shooting up downtown Seattle, etc. So Mel Gibson dominated that news cycle.

But hey, the media is just out to make a buck. That's the American way, isn't it?

Homegrown
I'm amazed at the criticisms. I find this is an excellent explication of an obvious danger in our midst.

Reads to me as though many commentators are missing the point. I don't know how the "drive-by" media, or papers buried their distorted versions of the story, but he's writing a wake-up call.

Clearly, Mr. Mowbry chose his words ironically and realistically to make a point,

"Where is the investigation into what messages Haq heard in his hometown mosque, which was founded by his father? Or how about a look at the culture and attitudes of his hometown Muslim community?"

He used "hometown mosque," because that's what it was, a mosque going on 2 generations there, in yes, some "hometown" USA city. That's the irony and the point!

He continues,

"No doubt that sensitivities and hang-ups in part prevent such inquiries, but isn’t it possible that those issues are ignored out of fear? Having one case of homegrown terror wouldn’t just be about the single incident. With over 1,200 mosques in the U.S.—and that’s not counting the thousands of makeshift ones in homes and storefronts—the enormity of the potential threat becomes terrifying. How many would need to be bad seeds for another 19 to line up for the “glory” of killing another 3,000?"

Thus, he's exposing the foolishness of ignoring a grave threat, right in American hometowns, and yes, this is, "homegrown terror" because these people ignored by the "sensitive" press, the people he's discussing, were born and "educated" in American schools.

The beauty for a liberal of being a liberal is that they need never feel remiss in anything they think, feel, or do. It's not what they accomplish, but their "good intentions" which matter. After all, don't they perceive themselves as the "sensitive, caring, feel good" folks, always willing to tax and spend to achieve "equality?" Aren't they ever willing to help, forgive, ignore, overlook, the crimes of all, except their own people -- the majority, the honest, law abiding, moral, hard-working citizens -- whom they perceive as ignorant, and/or superstitious, intolerant, insensitive clods, whom it's essential to fleece in order to provide for the care of their chosen "needy" ones? We're seeing what Hillary's "village" accomplishes in rearing children as school boards everywhere toe the line on liberal social engineering!

Hence were an American Jew to kill a Muslim, it would be an automatic "hate crime," but in the reverse, the poor Islamic is "crazy," or maybe even disturbed by his Christian training, even though he admits he did it because he hates Jews.

If the definition of "crazy" is to expect a different outcome from the same behavior, it would be liberals who could be seen to be crazy, or are they just, "crazy like a fox?"

PC
Of course, not all Muslims are terrorists; however, all of the terrorists currently at work in the world are Muslims. I don't know why we have to dance around this issue. Do we fear insulting the Muslim community so much that we can't speak the truth? If so, that just proves the point about Islam. It seems pretty simple to me that we're in a holy war and we'd better wake up and start calling it what it is.

In Re France - I nearly choked on my dinner when I heard that Jacques Chirac referred to the US requirement that Israel be allowed to remain in Lebanon until an international force comes in as "immoral". Immoral? Not enough time has elapsed since the French rush to give up their Jews to the Nazis for me to listen to any Frenchman on matters of morality.

"Homegrown" is a provacative term in the case of Muslims.

Nathan Tabor has posted feedback on the idea that Muslim can actual function in our culture:

Theologically - no. Because his allegiance is to Allah, the moon God of Arabia.

Religiously - no. Because no other religion is accepted by his Allah except Islam (Quran, 2:256)

Scripturally - no. Because his allegiance is to the five pillars of Islam and the Quran (Koran)

Geographically - no. Because his allegiance is to Mecca, to which he turns in prayer five times a day.

Socially - no. Because his allegiance to Islam forbids him to make friends with Christians or Jews.

Politically - no. Because he must submit to the mullah (spiritual leaders), who teach annihilation of Israel and destruction of America, the great Satan.

Domestically - no. Because he is instructed to marry four women and beat and scourge his wife when she disobeys him (Quran 4:34).

Intellectually - no. Because he cannot accept the American Constitution since it is based on Biblical principles and he believes the Bible to be corrupt.

Philosophically - no. Because Islam, Muhammad, and the Quran do not allow freedom of religion and expression. Democracy and Islam cannot co-exist. Every Muslim government is either dictatorial or autocratic.

Spiritually - no. Because when we declare "one nation under God," the Christian's God is loving and kind, while Allah is NEVER referred to as heavenly father, nor is he ever called love in The Quran's 99 excellent names.

Why would an adherent to the Muslim faith want to be an American? Maybe, it is just to cause mischief? Now, who's the Satan?

To do nothing
is to invite disaster, to self-destruct.

During WW II, Japanese immigrants and those with Japanese ancestry were gather up and locked up. No, it wasn't fair across the board. Most were honest, law abiding loyal citizens to this country. And of course, that tactic will not be taken up again.

However, a full investigation of all Islamic emigrants (and students) entering this country in the last 20 years is beginning to look like a must. The very fact that Haq slaughtered Jews shows, however influenced, that he was following Islamic beliefs.

I don't want to deny them their mosques any more than I want to be denied my church. My faith preaches peace, love, care and respect for all. We, the infidels, according to the Koran, are to be annihilated, with hands, feet and heads cut off, all for the glory of Mohammed and Allah.

One answer is to close our borders. Not just to the illegals from Mexico, but to those of the Islamic "faith", until things are sorted out. If we do not protect ourselves, who will?

Just one more thing
To add to the excellent comments of Flagwaver, NRAlifer, Lydia, Tom & especially bondmanp:

The reason that we cannot comprehend that scum like this might be faithful, not crazy, is because of the Judeo-Christian roots of our country and culture, as illuminated in our country's founding document, the Declaration of Independence.

(Now, some liberal challenge me on the D. of I. as our foundation. PLEASE.)

Crazy, or FAITHFUL?
To the modern Western mind, all religions promote peace and harmony with one's fellow. So, when Haq proclaims that he is a "Muslim-American," and proceeds to shoot up a Jewish Community Center, he must be "crazy." This logic is also applied to suicide bombers, Richard Reid, President Ahmadinejad of Iran, and almost any Muslim who calls for violent Jihad against non-Muslims. This reveals a total lack of understanding of Islam, which is anything but a religion of peace (as Westerners define it) and has a completely different view of what coexistance with non-Muslims ought to be. In many ways, Islam is unique in this regard, so it is somewhat understandable that a pluralistic society like ours would make this seriously erroneous assumption. Add to that Islamic propaganda groups like CAIR who work tirelessly to promote the total lie that Islam somehow objects to violent Jihad, and American missunderstanding of Islam is even more explainable.

That, however, does not relieve those who do understand the truth about Islam from trying to educate others. To that end, I cannot recommend a finer source than Robert Spencer's JihadWatch.org. Learn the Truth!

Maybe
Maybe his mind was poisened by watching MSM coverage of the war in Iraq and Lebanon. They have been more than willing to insinuate that American soldiers are raping, tortuting, and murdering innocent Muslims on a daily basis. And the entire coverage of the Israeli-Hezbollah war is being covered to show innocent Muslims being indiscriminately killed by the bombing of 'civilians' in Lebanon. With the messages and images being broadcast by the MSM, he would not need to hear it from his imam, Nic Robertson is preaching the same message.

Who Needs Hate Spewing Imams.....
When You Have Hate Spewing Senate Democrats?

This Haq guy didn't need to get revved up by a firey sermon by an Imam to want to attack Jewish Americans, or "punish the U.S. government for its acts". All he had to do was listen to the slander coming from John Kerry, Harry Reid, Dick Durban, and Jack Murtha in the house, among many others, to believe that our troops are "killing innocent civilians".

Dem politicians have been quick and reckless to make such accusations against our forces, and always before all the facts are known.

Like Dick Turban's comparing Gitmo guards to Nazis, like Kerry accusing troops of molesting Iraqi women and children in the dead of night (no factual basis for this one whatsoever), etc etc.

Reckless Dem leaders willing repeat any and all calumny against our troops that comes out of the enemy's propaganda machine.

And if that isn't enough to turn the muslim next door into a vengeful jihadist, you have Al-Reuters acting as a propagandist for the enemy, manufacturing phony photos of staged "atrocities"!

Cown suit, please
To paraphrase the great philosopher, Dennis Miller, "So he's crazy? Then let's dress him up in a clown suit, THEN fry him."
