Will Congress pass Obamacare by the end of the year?

A judge in Washington State ruled that 138,500 residents who signed a petition protesting a recent move to give gay couples the same rights as married couples will not have their names released on the internet as requested by a pro-gay lobbying group.

The group, Whosigned.org, sought to release the signatures to “make this public record signature information accessible and searchable on the internet,” and to “provide Washington State Voters with a way of reporting when their signature has been recorded either fraudulently or in error.”

But James Bopp, Jr. the attorney for the plaintiffs that sought the injunction against Whosigned.org, says the group’s motives weren’t nearly so well-meaning.

“Their primary reason [for requesting the names] was to have people go confront them,” said Bopp. “The part about whether or not [the names] are legitimate – that’s the job of the Secretary of State, that’s not the job of private organizations.” Bopp said that requesting the names to make sure they were valid was simply “smokescreen,” and said the true motives for Whosigned.org was intimidation and harassment.

According to Washington law, the Secretary of State is responsible for ensuring the validity of petition signatures. Whosigned.org focused specifically on trying to release the names of the signers of this petition because “fairness, equality and freedom from discrimination are core values of our state.” They did not address the issue of whether or not it was the Secretary of State’s job to check the names of petition signers.

“At a time when many states are moving from Domestic Partnerships and Civil Unions to providing Civil Marriage equality to their citizens, Washington state is still struggling with whether and how they will treat all couples and families equally,” reads their website. Continued...

explain why I'm wrong dreadnt.
Instead of your typical kneejerk response. How is it conjecture, I WAS being real. Maybe that's your problem, you can't recognize real.

Identity and knowing who is who, WAS one of the primary functions of marriage in earlier times. Combining or obtaining property (even the wife and kids were property) as well. In part the reason for the requirement of virginity, to insure that the child's parents were his.
Being able to identify men from women is another legacy that gay people have to live down. Which is why cross dressing or behaving in other than artificial codes were forbidden and punishable.
And the culture you rest your beliefs on, were very invested in increasing the tribe. NON procreative sex was forbidden because of the necessity of producing as many children as possible.

NONE of these things are an issue now. Neither is keeping women in a wholly submissive position in marriage or socio/politically and so therefore no need to do that to the gender variant.
It's not CONJECTURE to say these things, it's the historical context of marriage, children and property.

Conjecture is saying that if gay couples marry, then ANYTHING can get married. Something YOU do all the time.

Instead of you and anderson spending so much time pointing out what you think are other people's faults, perhaps you should try to keep up with people that aren't as afraid as you are of joining in committing to much needed social progress.

GET REAL, DU

"Marriage, in it's most long abiding and traditional form was about IDENTITY and PROPERTY. About keeping tribes and clans formally to their own, with little inclusion of someone different."

REPLY:

That's only your conjecture, there is no use for your biased opinion.

You're just wrong.
