Will the Dems' health care Christmas Present to America be an improvement or detriment to our health care system?

"In the first place God made idiots," observed Mark Twain . "This was for practice. Then he made school boards." The San Francisco Board of Education's 4-2 vote last week to abolish the Junior Reserve Officers' Training Corps program , which has been active in the city's high schools for 90 years, tends to support his view.

Why is JROTC being done away with? It isn't for lack of interest. More than 1,600 San Francisco students currently take part in its voluntary activities. "Kids love this program as if it's family," notes the San Francisco Chronicle . It is "a program that students and their parents wholeheartedly support."

Finances aren't the problem either. Operating JROTC costs the city less than $1 million out of an annual school budget of $356 million.

Nor is the problem bad management. The Chronicle reports that "no one has offered an alternative as coherent and well-run as JROTC."

Safety? Also not a problem. Though cadets have uniforms, they carry no weapons; the nonviolent programs emphasize leadership, self-discipline, citizenship, and teamwork . "This is where the kids feel safe," says one JROTC instructor, retired Army Lieutenant Colonel Robert Powell.

And the problem certainly isn't an absence of diversity. In a story on JROTC cadets at Galileo High School , Chronicle reporter Jill Tucker writes: "These students are 4-foot-10 to 6-foot-4. Athletic and disabled. College-bound and barely graduating. Gay and straight. White, black, and brown. Some leave school for large homes with ocean views. Others board buses for Bayview-Hunters Point." Several of the students come from immigrant families. At least one is autistic.

So what is the problem with JROTC? There isn't one. The problem is with the anti military bigotry of the school board majority and the "peace" activists who lobbied against the program on the grounds that San Francisco 's schools should not be sullied by an association with the US armed forces.

"We don't want the military ruining our civilian institutions," said Sandra Schwartz of the American Friends Service Committee, a far-left pacifist organization that routinely condemns American foreign policy and opposes JROTC nationwide . "In a healthy democracy . . . you contain the military." Board member Dan Kelly, who voted with the majority, called JROTC "basically a branding program or a recruiting program for the military." In fact, it is nothing of the kind: The great majority of cadets do not end up serving in the military.

But then, facts tend not to matter to smug ideologues like Schwartz and Kelly, who are free to parade their contempt for the military because they live in a nation that affords such freedom even to idiots and ingrates. It never seems to occur to them that the liberties and security they take for granted would vanish in a heartbeat if it weren't for the young men and women who do choose to wear the uniform, willingly risking life and limb in service to their country.

According to The Chronicle, scores of JROTC students were on hand when the school board met last week; many of them burst into tears after the vote. Sad to say, they should probably have seen this coming. For in its trendy anti military animus, the school board was hardly breaking new ground.

In 1995, San Francisco 's board of supervisors wiped the city's famous Army Street from the map, renaming it Cesar Chavez Street . Last year, city supervisors refused to allow the retired USS Iowa , a historic World War II battleship, to be docked in the Port of San Francisco . Like the school board vote, the spurning of the Iowa was intended as a slap at the US military and the foreign policy it supports. Supervisor Chris Daly explained his vote against accepting the battleship by announcing: "I am not proud of the history of the United States of America since the 1940s."

In 2005, San Francisco voters handily approved Measure I, a nonbinding ballot question dubbed "College Not Combat," which called for the exclusion of military recruiters from public high schools and colleges. The prevailing political attitude was summed up in a Weekly Standard headline: "San Francisco to Army: Drop Dead."

Not everyone feels that way. To his credit, Mayor Gavin Newsom excoriated the school board last week for "disrespecting the sacrifice of men and women in uniform" and warned that killing JROTC would only accelerate the flight of city residents from the public schools. "You think this is going to help keep families in San Francisco ?" he asked. "No. It's going to hurt."

Going to? For 1,600 kids now faced with the death of a program that infused their lives with purpose, camaraderie, and self-respect, the hurt has already begun.

Diversity hypocrites strike again!
Interesting how the left espouses the concept of a diverse selection of ideas, and then uses the power of government to squelch any ideas that do not appeal to their personal sense of idealism. You are free to think, as long as you think they way they tell you to.
JROTC produces the finest kids you will ever have the pleasure to meet, and the fact that the San Francisco leftists have found pride in destroying the enthusiasm of these children tells you everything you ever need to know about their mindset.

Why is it that Lefties
all seem to dominate in extraordinarily expensive places? Where do they get all their money? Is it because when you have an easy life, it is easy to believe the drivel that the Lefties spout?

BTW, this is a shameless plug for my new post in my blog. Stop by and visit!

It is all about Lefties Gone Wild!

Recruitment Program?
Maybe that's understood by most who read Jeff Jacoby's November 20 article. His only mention of this was to say: "The great majority of cadets do not end up serving in the military".

Of course not, and they include the handicapped young people into the program. According to the article, the enrolled students are taught good values, the kind that leftists don't like.

But the armed forces does hope to get some recruits through their efforts, IMO. No problem. Just be upfront about it.

I wonder
what *their* fantasies are like. Well, not *that* kind of fantasy -- I shudder to thing ... I know it involves an*ses. I mean social fantasies. Cuz I just had one of a military coup, where *they* were all rounded up and beaten with knobby cudgels until I decided, at length, that it was enough. But when you don't allow yourself consciously to think in terms of the sometimes-excellence of violence, how do you vent, privately, the frustration engendered by considerations of the invincibly ignorant?

But then, “invincible” is a concept they could not begin to understand. They view every foreign object as something that should be enveloped by the moist warm receptivity of their inclusiveness.

But pay me no nevermind. I’m feeling intoleratent and judgmental. How masculine of me. (That’s bad.)

Someone...please answer this...
"In a healthy democracy . . . you contain the military." Board member Dan Kelly,...."
WRONG....in a healthy democracy...you contain the liberals who HATE anything military.
What don't they get?....the military was and is the only thing separating them from Nazism and this new Islamic threat. Who ya' gonna call when the enemy is at your door wanting to cut your head off....answer please. ANYONE?
I have heard it over and over again...had a long relationship with the Veterans Hospitals in NY and Florida...if it were not for these men and women we would be speaking another language. What part of that do these libs NOT get?

Why libs hate the military
Libs don't have the stones to fight. They are the 3rd graders who couldn't stand up the bully and always ran to the teacher, now grown up, well not really grown up ,just older.
They whine "that's not fair" and look to the gov't to protect them from all things scary.
And the military is scary, all those big noisy guns and stuff, you might have to sleep on the ground and get dirty.
The military is an elite organization in which libs cannot compete, so they stand on the sidelines and denigrate the service of others, kind of like Kerry pandering to those college kids.
They fear the JROTC program because these kids are learning leadership and what it really means to be an American. Can anyone picture a liberal on a covered wagon heading off into a hostile wilderness to build this country?
They don't even want to defend it.
I love the military, it gave me,a rudderless kid the direction and pride to serve this great land for many years and taught me that this land is worth fighting and if necessary dieing for. A concept that these fools in San Fran would never understand.

I do hope that
..in the event of an invasion, we'll go ahead and just write off San Fran. The jihadists will want to go there first anyway- target rich environment for the head choppers. San Fran will be begging for the US militaries type of tolerance after a little dose of jihadi "tolerance".

Banning the NROTC
San Francisco says that students can't be members of an organization that gives them early training on how to defend our country - because there is never an expectation or good reason for war!

Let's take that a step further ...

Doctors/Nurses/Medical Technicians should not be trained because there is no expectation of injury or disease.

Police should not be trained because there is no expectation of crime or disorder.

Fire departments should not be trained because there is no expectation of fire.

The foregoing doesn't seem any more stupid than the San Francisco decision.

grrr
the scum of the san fransico school board, and here i though san fransico was such a nice town. But they had to go and ban all handguns and now destroyed the JROTC program now not only do parents have to worry about being mugged and not being able to defend your self but now the only kinda leadership left would be street gangs.

anyone want to place bets on how long till the boy and girl scouts are next.

I am reminded of Katrina
When disasters strike, too many people just sit and wait to be "rescued" as was so clearly demonstrated in New Orleans. When rescue came, it was the U.S. military. Not the police, not the mayor or the Governor, not the press or the celebrities, it was the military who took on the mission, produced order out of chaos, and began the process of rebuilding. After the terrible tsunami in Indonesia and the earthquake in Pakistan, it was our military who was there first. We destroy our military at our own peril and we destroy it by not respecting it, not encouraging our youth to think of it as a career choice and not instilling the very good values of service, devotion and duty in our children. 'When the next disaster hits San Francisco, I wonder who they're going to call......the female impersonators?

Here's the problem
The Left hates the military because the Left fears the military. Not because of the guns and violence (with which the Left have no problem when they are used to advance Leftist causes. Che Guevarra, call your office.) but because serving in the military can lead to patriotism, a supreme sin in the Church of Liberalism (to borrow Ann Coulter's metaphore). It galls the Left that a system of government that doesn't guarantee them power should even exist, never mind being lovedby the majority of people in a country. Hollywood has several movies that show life "after the failure of democracy." ("Starship Troopers" and "V for Vendetta" come to mind here.) It's not that the Left longs to live UNDER a totalitarian regime, they long to BE the totalitarian regime. And the fact that (A) the US is a representative democracy, (B) the people sometimes actually vote Leftists OUT of office, and (C) it has had unmatched success for 230 years in stability, prosperity and freedom -- especially when compared to the abject failures of Leftist regimes in the Soviet Union and Eastern Europe, not to mention the obvious brutality of the modern regimes in Cuba, North Korea, China, etc. -- bothers liberals because it keeps them from seizing power for more than a few years at a time in this country. It's all about Power, and because the Left will never have the backing of the Military, they try to turn the people against it.

Liberals hate anything that gets people to rely on things other than Leftist government programs. All of their proselytizing about being the party of the poor, diversity, civil rights, the working man, and all of their cute, little feel-good programs all come down to one thing: You are too inept to do anything for yourself, you need us (liberals) to take care of you in return for your unending love and obedience. Religion, corporations, the military, and family life are all ways for someone to succeed without Liberal help. If fact most of those demand that you succeed on your own merits rather than expecting help from the government.

Shameless Plug Alert
I have a poem on my blog, "It's the Soldier" that every member of the school board should be required to read. The irony that the freedom to criticize the military comes directly from the existence of the military is rich.

HUH?????
"In a healthy democracy . . . you contain the military."

What kind of drivel is this? I believe our military is overly contained, both on the battle field and back at home.

How much more would Iraq be under control if the libs were't so worried about making Muslims mad? Do you think the Mahdi Malitia would be as powerful as they currently are?

What would happen if members of the military were allowed to enter the arena of political speech? How many libs in congress wet their pants at the thought of the military speaking out?

Supervisor Chris Daly explained his vote against accepting the battleship by announcing: "I am not proud of the history of the United States of America since the 1940s." Did he make the announcement in Japanese or German or Russian or Chinese?

Might I suggest that when the next "Big One" hits the city by the bay they ardently refuse to let any military participate in the rescue and recovery efforts, render medical aid or pass out food and other necessities. Anything less would be hypocritical.

Saddened but Proud in Louisiana
I'm a retired Army officer and JROTC instructor in Baton Rouge, LA. Glad that I live and work in an area where my fellow citizens value the country and hold the military in high regard.

At the highest levels, the Army probably does hope to garner a few recruits through JROTC, but we are advised up front that recruiting is NOT the purpose of JROTC, and that we are not to engage in it. BTW, the Army specifically excludes JROTC instructors from receiving the recently-established $1000 recruitment bonus, as that obviously represents a serious conflict of interest with JROTC goals. JROTC expanded greatly under the sponsorship of Colin Powell a few years ago, and is viewed as a way to give back to the country by putting retired officers and NCOs into places where caring leadership can help kids--especially disadvantaged, inner-city kids who often have no responsible fathers or mothers to raise them.

Like the editorial points out, we are about training kids in citizenship, values, and character development, and many/most of our students would never even be eligible to join the military should they wish to do so. I guess left-wingers would view JROTC's widespread presence in the South & urban areas as evidence that the military-industrial complex is trying to pull poor Southern/urban black kids into the Army as cannon fodder (See Kerry's recent views about who gets "stuck in Iraq.") Actually, as others have noted, a huge number of our students view us as the only adult men who care about them & encourage them to find any--ANY--moral and legal path they can follow to have a positive life as productive citizens.

Thanks for the support out there! Thank God that San Francisco isn't representative of the rest of America, although JROTC's relatively weak presence in the Northeast suggests that our East Coast "elites" may have pre-emptively excluded it there. Wish I had met more Ivy Leaguers in my 24 years of active duty; some of my colleagues on the West Point faculty earned graduate degrees from those schools, but the only undergrad Ivy Leaguer I recall knowing was an infantry corporal who went to Officer Candidate School with me. . .Sadly, most of our self-appointed "betters" of the coastal "elites" seem to feel that they aren't the ones who should be saddled with defending this country, assuming they consider it worth defending in the first place.
I recommend Royster's _A Revolutionary People at War_, or Anderson's _A People's Army_ to see just how far back into American history these attitudes existed. We barely survived it then--hopefully we can get away with it in an era of Islamic extremism and nuclear weapons.

It's the Soldier
You're absoliutely right, Scottie. In 2003, we used that poem in lieu of our usually Christmas newsletter. Placed in the center of a Christmas themed piece of stationery, we hoped it demonstrated to our family and friends the debt all of us owe to our military. Tragically, there will always be ingrates who only wish to take what is good and true and right in this country and ignore or debase that which allows the good to be present. I only pray that the vast majority of Americans will realize that our unique American culture is being threatened by many home-grown enemies and, most importantly, realize that fact in time to rescue our beloved country from those who would destroy it.

Note the fine print

The SF Chronicle reported that the students in the JROTC program were Gay AND Straight, Athletic AND Disabled, not what I would call a guaranteed pool for the military but a true diverse population.

Let SF hate the military....
...we should just anounce to the terrorists that if they want to blow up buildings in SF, they won't have to worry about retaliation from our military that the leftist bigots hate so much. Give terrorists free reign to wreck as much distruction inside of Left Wing Loony Town they want. THEN let's see how much those gutless sissies hate the military so much.

It's an "open city"
Chr335 wrote "anyone want to place bets on how long till the boy and girl scouts are next."

Uhm, they ALREADY have, the socialist people's republic of Berkley HAS banned the Boy Scouts. Several neighborhood "Scout houses" (built by volunteers for the Boy Scouts, the Girl Scouts and the like have been destroyed for "progress" there is no-where to meet.

The Presido of San Francisco, and the Army hosptial there, gone! And good riddence! The Naval presence is also gone! And the vast resources at Treasure Island, (the Bay Bridge from Oakland pauses there) is being turned into yet another "high rent" district.

They (The City of San Francisco) can't keep affordable housing available for it's own city employees, so I guess they are saying that they need no Fire Department, no Police Department, just "positive vibs man," and another orgy.

When the "big one" comes I hope we all don't waste our time or tears on San Francisco.

SUPPORT THE TROOPS?
I want people to remember this every time liberals say they support the troops. This is proof, once again, that they hamper our military at every turn, whether it is during war time, or during the lead up to war, banning ROTC, banning JROTC, or banning military recruiting at colleges.

I honestly think that the left feels that not hating the military, publically (spitting on them when they come home, or calling them baby-killers), is the same as supporting them.

Fear
I think the biggest Lefty fear is that these kids might, after exposure to alternative values like honor and patriotism, look at them and see them for what they really are. Underneath every angry ultra-liberal exterior is an ignorant, impotent, frightened little boy or girl who least of all wants to be found out and exposed.

History repeating itself?
A Roman statesman (name escapes me right now) said "That nation which divorces its schools from its army will have its thinking done by cowards and its fighting done by fools". A pox on the SF school board and their ilk.

The city on the left
San Francisco is a microcosm of socialism.

It's a good example of what our country would look like if the leftists did take over.

Remember, the socialists want government to run their lives as long as government wears civilian clothes and lets them wallow in hedonism.

It's just another leftist contradiction. More government and less personal responsibility.

Just who do
the leftists think has maintained their ability to do and say whatever they want, including their contempt for the military?

Sometimes, and I admit I feel somewhat guilty over this thought, I think it would be just desserts if the military stood down when the left finally gets attacked.

My guilty fantasy goes like this:

Military to the leftists:
Hey folks, you hate us military people, so fight your own battle. You hate us having guns, so we won't use them, get your own weapons.
Oops. Stinging mouths and fried brains are not good weapons fighting the terrorists. Oh, well, sorry about your luck. Have a nice day and enjoy those burkas. Enjoy being beheaded when you open your mouths under Islam.

Sign the Pledge SF
San Francisco does not like or appreciate the military? Then fine, sign a pledge so that when the next earthquake or natural disaster befalls SF the the US Military is not obligated in anyway to respond with help or assistance.

When Korea hits us,
I hope they skip over Seattle. Seattle already has enough melted glass to last three lifetimes, and much of it is quite beautiful.

If we are to lose a city before John Murtha and is ilk can be tarred and feathered, let it be SFO. (airport lingo) The place needs a good cleaning. What a fabulous place in history and what decay in national allegiance and patriotism. It is a scandal.

And don't think I didn't give San Fran a good try, having visited there this summer. I don't remember if it was Mark Twain but some famous commenter once said 'they spent the coldest winter of their lives one summer in San Francisco'. And we got there July 1st looking for our jackets.

I was aware of their idiotic ban-not-to-be on deadly force self-defense tools, handguns, so we went south to Monterey before the fireworks on the 4th. To be honest I was so sure SFO hates the U.S. so much I never even inquired about "works" being show in the area.

Here in CA there are those who wish to split the state north-south because it is so large and diverse in topography. However the Inland folks have the best idea and are waiting for the San Andreas earthquake which will split off San Fran and Los Angeles from the rational population.

Oh yes, one other thing. During our brief visit I also learned that they are selling off the grounds of the Presidio for public housing. Ain't never gonna train no heathens here again!

Scouts
chr335 writes:
"anyone want to place bets on how long till the boy and girl scouts are next. "

You think this is not already happening. Most scout troops and packs are being sponsored by churches or private originations because they have been kicked out of schools and public places. the excuse for kicking out scouts have been varied but all stupid. such as the janitors have too much to clean up afterward. our pack at the time left the place spotless when we were done. that is part of the scouting code.

when scouts get attacked they are killing our best leaders to come. it is hard enough to have kids take responsibilty now when programs like scouts are gone what will we have?

To those that have asked...
...who SanFran would call, we all know the answer to that. And that the men and women that are so scorned by the Bi-Coastal Elites would be there to serve them is all that needs to be said. The beauty of our service members is that they are honorable enough to do their duty, no matter their personal feelings or whether they have been slighted in any way. The idiots in SanFran and elsewhwere could learn some valuable lessons on what it is to be hinorable and faithful from those that choose to serve us all.

Flagwaver
The idiots in San Francisco wouldn't learn a thing about being honorable or faithful because of the response of the people they hate. Rather, they would expect it and complain that is wasn't timely or enough?

I notice...
...we're missing the usual concentration of trolls in this thread.

Perhaps, just perhaps, the San Fran School Board decision is not defensible ?

/summons trolls from kos to retort.

School Boards

.....Who votes for these idiots?...

.....If the voters support the School Boards decision then it is time for the families of the affected students to vote with their feet.....COLOSSUS

They are missing in action....LOL
Someone at the top of the thread is asking where the usual 'trolls' and site pests are. Well, I think perhaps they got the message to who is going to defend their rights to poke each other in the behind, if not the military...Who is going to defend their rights NOT to bow to mecca 5 times a day...the military...Who is going to defend this country when the next World Trade Center is attacked and 3,000 people are martyred because they are Americans.....THE MILITARY.
What do you have to do to become a stinkin' lib.
I have the answer....you have to be brain dead coward looking for handouts from the middle class and clean needles from the latest drug program. Someone tell me I am WRONG!

Matt, Esq
One of the trolls showed up under the Suzanne Fields article. They never quit.

THANK YOU GUNNYG
Correct, as usual....spoiled lazy, rotten, I want it now, liberals who can't exist without a program to get them from point A to point B. Someone please inform those mindless nitwits that without our brave military they would not be allowed to be as LIBERAL as they are. Is is just me, my upbringing, my teachers, my hubby...WHAT?
I am not the most intelligent person to have ever operated a computer keyboard but it does not take a brain surgeon to see where all this liberalism is going. For crying out loud...look what happened after they killed the Russian Czar and installed Socialism and Communism as the law of the land.....Russia fell apart and is just now starting to come into the 20th century, never mind thinking about the 21st.
I am getting nuts over this thing with the JROTC..
but I find this extremeley unjust for our young.
I guess we will have to go further into Socialism before the commie libs get it....pray for our country...before they make sure you can't pray any more.....stinkin' libs...I HATE THEM!

Some of ...
...our taxes are going to support the school district of San Francisco.

Have a nice day.

Miss Mellie
"pray for our country...before they make sure you can't pray any more...."

Miss Mellie that is one thing the libs cannot take away is prayer. We can always pray within ourselves and they can't ever take that away.

Hmmnnnn
Peppermint...you are right about them not being able to take away our prayer...but they can take away our religious symbols, and places of worship. An aunt of mine was raised in Czechlovackia during Hitlers rise to power. She still remembers having to walk to church in the company of the German Army. When they got out of the church they were all gunned down on the steps of the church and many were killed...her family hid and were protected for a time by kind strangers....i will never forget them telling me that story...If anyone thinks it cannot happen here...think again...in fact it has already started...Look at what the ACLU has done...no crosses or symbols are allowed in certain places...that is just the beginning....mark my words....JUST THE BEGINNING

Quote
this brings to mind the quote

"War is an ugly thing, but not the ugliest of things. The decayed and degraded state of moral and patriotic feeling which thinks that nothing is worth war is much worse. The person who has nothing for which he is willing to fight, nothing which is more important than his own personal safety, is a miserable creature and has no chance of being free unless made and kept so by the exertions of better men than himself. "
John Stuart Mill
English economist & philosopher (1806 - 1873)

San Francisco vs. JROTC
The U.S, military should eliminate all military-related spending in San Francisco.

and Packrat
..there is also a poem along the same lines...I will research it...
It started out with..."when they came for the..."
and I think it is carved into the entrance stone of one of the Holocost Museums. It is a very telling prose....indeed.

But, Dr. Dave....
who will defend their gay rights? Who will defend their right to NOT have an JROTC? Who will defend their rights when the Muslims decide to make Islam the religion of the land? And everyone knows what happens to gay individuals in a Muslim run society. San Francisco, be carefull what you wish for...you are going to get it.

Boycott San Francisco
I have a very simple solution for all Americans who understand how important JROTC and our fine military to our way of life - Don't visit or patronize any San Francisco business.

Time for Destruction
When I think of SF and LA I can't help but think of the story of Sodom and Gomorrah.

If the "Big Quake" hit tomorrow and these cities slid off into the Pacific Ocean I'm sure many people would be thinking the same thing.

In Genesis 18, God informs Abraham that He plans to destroy the city of Sodom because of its gross immorality. Abraham pleads with God not to destroy Sodom, and God agrees that He would not destroy the city if there were 50 righteous people in it, then 45, then 30, then 20, or even 10 righteous people. The Lord's two angels only found one righteous person living in Sodom, Abraham's nephew Lot. Consequently, God follows through with His plans to destroy the city.

Are there 10 righteous people in SF?? There definitely won't be soon.

Come on earthquake
When I transferred out of the Bay Area in 96, they were all fighting over what they were going to do with the closed bases. They were thinking about making ADM Nimitz's house on Yerba Buena Is the mayors residence, and we were thinking we would burn it down before that happened

It's called Reeducation
When Vietnam fell, those who didn't side with the V-C were sent to reeducation schools to be educated into the ideology of the V-C. There, they were brainwashed into believing they can be saved and forgiven once they completed the reeducation. With the defeat of the Republicans, Schools boards like the San Francisco Board of Education, are going to become more bold in determining which school programs are going to be available to the students based on their ideology, not freedom of choice by the students to sign up for classes they wish to attend. This way, according to the San Francisco Board of Education, those classes the students do sign up for will meet the diversity and ideology of the San Francisco Board of Education.

Anti-Military bigotry
Who will defense SF if they there attacked? NOT THE LEFTTISTS. I've never served in the military, but I have the most respect for those who do and understand it's the military AND THE MILITART ALONE THAT'S KEEPS US FREE; not those cowards who hide behind lefttist nonsense. I'ts easy for SF to take these positions because they know at the end of the day it's the military who will save their backsides. Thanks SF school broad for taking that choice(JROTC) from kids(who you CLAIM to care for). What tolerance, What deversity, What a bunch of FOOLS, but it's the LEFT and you should not be surprised!

Unbelievable!!
Only in San Fran-sicko....the very same school board that voted down JROTC also voted overwhelmingly to SUPPORT more gay, lesbian, and transexual education for 5 to 12 year olds!!!

http://san-francisco-school-board-notes.greatschools.net/

Is it wrong to pray for an earthquake??

Translation..We don't want all those positive values undermineing our whining. We work and slave to properly brainwash these kids and along comes those right wing ideas like honor, honesty, leadership, self-discipline, citizenship, teamwork, hardwork, patriotism, self sacrifice, personal responsibility to just confuse those poor kids.

This was forecast
The way SF treats our Navy.
Refusing to berth ships.
Renaming "Army Street"

San Franciscans live in a little plastic bubble OUR MILITARY holds safe from reality for them.
Their minds can't seem to comprehend that everyone does not believe in "Live & Let Live".

Who Is In Charge ?
The silence of our government is deafening. Our government has acquiesced to the queers and Radical Communist(Schwartz) while they work together to destroy the JROTC institution in the city of SF. The queers are the willing dupes of the Communist and the queers are dancing to the Left Wing tune in exchange for open use of marijuana, bath houses, and the freedom to "pack fudge". A real government, representative of the people, would descend on SF with all its resources to protect the civil liberties of 1600 citizens being denied their freedom of choice. It is a sad commentary when the most powerful country in the world is being dictated to by a bunch of sexual deviates.

...and of course,
you know the underlying (pun intended) motivation for the decision is, "For the children."
As for disasters and attacks, it's absolutely true that folks on the "left coast" are so far removed from the rest of the country, that until something major blows up or burns down due to terrorists, the "lefties" will continue in their self-indulgence and auto-defined righteousness.

The town is a cess-pool...politically, socially, morally, and emotionally.

My question is: Do these folks truly believe they're sane?

The only heart San Francisco has is the mythical one romanticized by Tony Bennett.

Warrior
Kinda make ya wonder how a city can proclaim to be a "Sanctuary City" for illegal immigrants who violate U.S. Law?

If we had a U.S. Attorney General he would collar that whole passel of criminal conspirators.

How can a city council grant wholesale immunity from Federal Law?

SAN FRAN & FAGACHUSETTS
The last thing any American would like to see happen in the United States would be to see hooded terrorist walking our streets. But sorry, if it does happen, i would have to bet that terrorist would probably attack the fudge packers in San Fran & Fagachusetts first. Simply because the terrorist are cowards in the first place, always feeling the need to hide behind a black hooded mask. They know the sissy's would be easy targets because they have no weapons and more than likely can easily be caught on any street corner with their pants down around their ankles unable to defend themselves.

Let's just hope that the first ones to get their heads cut off and put on public display are the liberal politicians who write laws, and liberal Judges who uphold laws that ban weapons and allow traditions such as the JROTC is be banned.

There is nothing good that comes from a liberal, and how they can face themselves in a mirror every day knowing that they have no backbone and nothing to be proud of is beyond me.

Contain the military?!
Poem penned by Charles M. Province, a veteran of the U.S. Army and Founder and President of The George S. Patton, Jr. Historical Society:

“It is the Soldier, not the reporter,
Who has given us Freedom of the Press.

It is the Soldier, not the poet,
Who has given us Freedom of Speech.

It is the Soldier, not the campus organizer,
Who has given us the Freedom to demonstrate.

It is the Soldier, not the lawyer,
Who has given us the right to a fair trial;

And it is the Soldier—who salutes the flag,
Who serves the flag, and whose coffin is draped by the flag—Who allows the protester to burn the flag.”

Sadly, stupid libs will never grasp this concept.

whoa whoa
icedog rights
Are there 10 righteous people in SF?? There definitely won't be soon.

just cuz a school board decides to eliminate the JROTC does not mean SF has gone down hill. Remmber school board members are like board members of homeower assoctations people who have never really had power before and start to abuse it, most of the time people dont even care who is on the school board we just have to wait and see if this current school board stays after the next election.

San Fran queersville
To all who have blogged here. I personnally feel that it is time to take all the Liberals and put them on boats and send them to the Middle East like Iraq,Iran,Syera, Egypt and Indonesia and all the rest of the Muslims controled nations and let them live there. They are useless in a free country, they do not contribute anything to the country all they do is try to tear it down. We do not need the negative a**holes to try to do any more damage to this country. They will not protect the country so the country should not protect them.

chr335
Don't take this as criticism because I'm asking something I really don't know, but are the citizens of San Francisco upset over this? By this I mean whole sale disapproval of what the school board has done, or do a majority of the citizens approve? I would think if a town has wide spread reaction to something like this and given the mayor seems to disapprove of it also, their should be some recourse a little more immediate than waiting out for another school board election.

I don't want to be seen as overly pessimistic but I think if the JROTC issue had been put to a city wide vote the results would be the same.

That is the point
I don't want to be seen as overly pessimistic but I think if the JROTC issue had been put to a city wide vote the results would be the same.

And that is mostly the point. The school board's decision is a reflection of the city as a whole. SFers are unabashedly liberal, anti-military and anti-morality. It is a cesspool. A bastion of idiocy, flawed ideology, and hypocrisy. They offer nothing to society. But, millions of brave men and women have served (including myself), and many have given their very lives, so that these morons can have their stupid opinions. It is a shame that these idiots choose to admonish the very group that has given them the right to do so.

UFB!!!
Man oh Man!!! It is UFB! All the loser trolls are missing because they have no lies to back up what has been done. Nope, it is plain and simple, that the lib Capitol City, San Fran-sicko should be blasted off the left coast.

FRISCO
Cut them off completely from ANY military connections whatsoever. NO military should ever set foot in FRISCO again. And YES -- that does include ANY and ALL rescue efforts, should that ever become necessary. Say, maybe, the big earthquake we know will hit someday . . .

Fend for yourselves and let the world hear you WHINE!!!!!

Freaks.

AND.....
the reason you do not hear any of the site pests bloviating and spewing is that they KNOW for sure who will defend their pansy behinds when they are in trouble. I, for one, would like to see the city of San Francisco become a social experiment. Timed from right now, Nov20, 2006...let's see how long it take for the inner structure of that sh-t hole to crumble...and let's not forget who just ascended to the throne of the house...to become the first 'woman' speaker....it just says it all.
All style and not a stinkin' shred of substance. I used to think SanFran was a beautiful and romantic city...but from now on it is just flyover on my way to Hawaii or the East....my only fear is that the citizens become so diseased and craven that they may have to wall it up so no decent God fearing person becomes infected with all the disease which is sure to destroy that place.

and truthspotlight...
I like the way you think. Triple DITTO'S from me.

Like someone said
these people are freaks. I like to think of San Francisco as a cist built by the American body to contain its toxic crap somewhere away from the rest of us.

Perhaps a good military presence should be made all around San Francisco but not within.

Correction
That's cyst, not cist, although, now that I think about it, San Francisco is also a cist.

Ms. Pelosi
Whenever she speaks in the next two years, remember she reflects the views of her constituents. That will explain the madness that is sure to come fromm her mouth.

San Fran and Paris
What does San Fran and france have in common? Both are run by the limp wristed and are places I would never dream on visiting.

Ringmaster
They have more in common than that. It seems to me that the French State Bird, the coq, is an animal that is happiest when covered in feces. That would be another similarity with San Francisco.

History repeating itself?
“The nation that will insist upon drawing a broad line of demarcation between the fighting man and the thinking man is liable to find its fighting done by fools and its thinking by cowards.”

Enema needed?
If they ever give the USA an enema, they'll stick the tube right into Frisco.

LOLOLOL
Bill, jerubaal, Ringmaster...your killing me with laughter....see... conservatives really are the happier of the two parties....I'd rather laugh my a$$ off at ya'll's jokes than be a stodgy old pencil necked lib, ANY DAY...STILL LAUGHING. ;0)

JROTC
Is there anyway that the whole west coast of California can be sliced off and sent out to float in the Pacific?

Where are the Libs?
Now they have made stunning gains in the 06 election they are doing a very good job of acting "responsible". 08 is just around the corner. Notice how no one is hollering for a cut and run date? It must be like trying not to defecate. Surely they can't keep it up for very much longer. I expected to be scrolling past KImberly long ago.

Oh, give me a break. You remind me of the guys I met in the
military who, when the customary, "So where are you from?"'s
were exchanged and I said "San Francisco," would immediately
respond, "Lotta queers out there!" That was the very first
thing that came to what passed for their "minds" when they
heard the words "San Francisco."

Well, yes, there are. Then again, there are "lotta queers" in
pretty much any big American city you could name. I bet some
of 'em have even checked you out from behind, you big hunk of
man-meat, you.

What's missing in your calculus -- and I use the term "calculus"
advisedly, seeing as how you seem to be the sort who never went
beyond 8th grade pre-algebra back at Knuckle-Dragger Junior High
-- is the fact that there are lots of heterosexuals who also can
afford to live in expensive, major metropolitan areas. These are
educated people, people who "bin to kolletch," to put it into an
idiom that's probably more familiar to you. Many of those people
are even right-wingers -- people such as my father, who moved to
the Bay Area in 1957 to work at Lockheed and design "engines of
war." Muahahaha!

A college (excuse me, "kolletch") friend of mine once put forth
the proposition that the people who live in California and other
western coastal states are actually more highly evolved than
those in the heartland, since their ancestors had the necessary
genetic predisposition not to fear migrating to new, relatively
unknown places and take their chances.

Ever actually BEEN to San Francisco, Tanabear? If you had, you'd
have seen that there are lots of middle-class families with kids
there.

Essentially. People at both ends of the educational (and
therefore, financial) bell curve tend to be Democrats. And
as far as the well-to-do liberals are concerned, it's easy
for them to be lefties because to them, it's all theoretical;
for the most part, they've never had any real-world concerns
in their lives.

I would, but you didn't post the URL.

Less Europe in the state!

OK, as a liberal, I say this is stupid
I live nowhere near San Francisco so its hard to understand why the school board would push this so hard. I agree its a stupid decision and won't defend it. Maybe it has something to do with the discrimination against gays in the military and JROTC, but who knows?

In any case, this is representative democracy at work. School boards are locally elected. If people in the city disagree, their obvious recourse is to vote the school board members out of office and elect people who will restore the JROTC program. That will work, just as it did in PA where the people voted out the idiots that wanted to promote intelligent design instead of science in the high schools.

Creighton 11:32
Pretty much, you are right. The very poor are Democratic because Democrats promise to give them money. This is the danger in state welfare where recipients can vote themselves more money. I like the idea espoused by David Weber in his Honor Harrington series: You have the right to vote as long as you have paid at least one cent more in taxes than you have taken in services.

Very wealthy people are Democratic, partly out of the new wealth in fields like technology. Techies have a more libertarian than socialist streak, however, and their liberal loyalties are more affective than deeply felt. Techies can be very apolitical, and liberals have monopolized the society's rhetoric about the obligation of those with money to do for those who don't.

The real socialists are the "old money." Think about old money versus new money----Grandpa bought the houses (paid off decades ago), donated spare millions to colleges (helps grease the skids to get the kids in), and everybody kisses the family's butts (Hellooo, is the Ivy League honestly going to let J Peter Gottrocks IV actually fail out of college?)

By contrast, the upper middle class, often making the same salary all things considered, have mortgages and various loans to pay off, their kids have to earn their way to Harvard and earn their right to stay, and they have their own working expenses.

Even given the same salary, "soak the rich" taxes hit Shaniqua the Executive Vice President long before they make a dent in J Peter Gottrocks.

Would this work?
How about if San Francisco were declared a "Terrorist Sanctuary City"

This is why we NEED a draft...
Those nellie little bay area queens in training and highbrow leftist 20-somethings wouldn't know what hit them.
