Yesterday, on July 4th, we celebrated our 233rd Independence Day as a nation. This is the day the Declaration of Independence was signed, but the process of separation from British began years earlier with the Boston Massacre in 1770, where five colonists died. The unease continued in 1773, when the colonists organized the Boston Tea Party to protest a tea tax.

The Battle of Lexington and Concord on April 19, 1775 officially began the American Revolution. On June 7, 1776, the Second Continental Congress voted for a resolution stating “these United Colonies are, and of right ought to be, free and independent States.” Tasked with writing this “Declaration of Independence,” Thomas Jefferson finished a draft within three weeks and, after a few revisions, Congress adopted it on July 4, 1776.

It says, in part:

“We hold these truths to be self-evident, that all men are created equal, that they are endowed by their creator with certain unalienable rights, that among these are life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness. — That to secure these rights, governments are instituted among men, deriving their just powers from the consent of the governed,”

This document is incredibly important because it acknowledges that the creator gives rights to the people, who then loan the rights to the government. In this model, the creator comes first, then the people and then the government that the people created.

Our model was designed for the people, not the government, to hold the power. Government derives its powers from the consent of the governed (the people). Our declaration reduced the status of government from that of master of the people (as in English rule) to that of servant of the people. However, in real life the governed (that’s us, the people) have to remind the government whom they are supposed to represent.

The end of the American Revolution came six years after it began, when British General Charles Cornwallis formally surrendered at Yorktown on October 19, 1781. However, our new country still had a lot of work to do. Our freedom was won – but now we had to learn how to govern ourselves – how to actually put these high ideals – that we are given certain unalienable rights by God, that we can pursue happiness and that the government is subservient to the people.

More than seven years later, on April 30, 1789, we inaugurated George Washington as our first president. This was a move toward order and stability: our freedom had been declared and won, our Constitution adopted and our president elected and in office.

Today, 233 years after the signing of the Declaration of Independence, the work on our country continues. As we have prospered and grown, many people seem to have forgotten the importance of being active and engaged as citizens, that their job is to pursue their happiness, and their responsibility to remind government leaders who is in charge.

Government continues to move, grow and push into areas when the people do not push back. Today this includes not only the traditional areas of national defense, civil services and education, but also financial services, automotive, mortgages and, soon, health care. There is no area in your life that today’s government bureaucrats do not think they can do better than the private sector. It is our responsibility to let them know they are wrong.

This year, instead of reflecting on a fun one-day celebration, let’s follow the lead of our founding fathers and continue to work on the people’s independence. While our founders declared their independence on July 4th 1776, it took more than 12 years to win our independence and inaugurate our first president.

This week, read out loud a copy of the Declaration of Independence, share it with your friends and family. Reflect on the importance and responsibility of citizens of a nation whose forefathers fought and died for our independence. Discuss what it means to “hold these truths to be self-evident, that all men are created equal, that they are endowed by their creator with certain unalienable rights, that among these are life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness.” Pledge to yourself, and to your friends and family, that you will work to remind government who is in charge.

Our rights come from God, loaned to the government, by our (the people’s) consent. Let us thank God for these rights, and remind government leaders that these rights are loaned to them - by us. The people once again - need to declare their independence.

Did you ever wonder where the money for things like the subversion of the world's immigration laws may come from? Also, recently I’m seeing an ad campaign, using money we don’t have, to sell us on a new health plan.

It seems to me as long as we allow people to print up fiat money there will be no place in the world where freedom can flourish.

If the Globalist oppose your efforts, paid for with real hard earned money, all they have to do is fire up the presses and shovel the money to any group that will oppose you.

Not only that but it seems they do it in such a way that the money to achieve THEIR goals is borrowed from them. Then we pay interest to a group outside of our country, like the Federal Reserve, on the creation and borrowing of OUR OWN money.

IN ESSENCE THEY BEAT US WITH OUR OWN STICK!

It seems most people forget the preamble
to the Constitution, "that they are endowed by their creator with certain unalienable rights, that among these are life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness."

Lets rewrite the Constitution with today's meaning. You have no right to be born. You only get that right if your mother show chooses. You are free to work for yourself as long as 40% or more of what you earn belongs to the government. Everyone should have an equality of results no matter how hard you work and how little others do. We should all be the same.

Not quite the same ring as the original.

After the revolution
the country self-purged itself of the tories who went to Canada or the Bahamas leaving pretty much everyone in agreement with the founding documents and philosophy of the founding fathers.

Liberals have been chipping away at those principles ever since until we now have someone in our WH who states that he believes the constitution is a "flawed document".

That's how low this country has sunk in 233 years with the last 40 accelerating the process.

Back then, the people were smart enough and politically astute enough to discuss the Federalist papers and then vote on the adoption of the Constitution. Today, most have never heard of them and accept as gospel the lies fed to them by the MSM which are so in the tank for Il Duce, it is downright embarrassing were it not so dangerous to our liberties.

Unless we take this gov't back, the land of our forefathers will be lost to the next generation forever.

The founding fathers pledged their lives, their fortunes and their sacred honor to give this gift to us, are we worthy of that sacrifice and that of the millions who served, bled or died to preserve it for us?

Are we men or are we sheep to be shorn to fund this foolishness being fostered upon us by these elites in DC?

They serve at our pleasure and they are not listening to us, they all forget it is we who are their masters not the other way around.

Il Duce is systematically destroying the framers dream and seeking to replace it with something anathema to everything prior generations held dear.

It's time to stand up and say stop to all of them or we will excercise our rights and replace this gov't with the same methods used by the founders who were thoughtful enough to provide us with the means to do so.

It was a flawed document, and still is. The Framers didn't believe it to be perfect, and fully expected it to be superseded. Thomas Jefferson's concerns were prescient, as they often were.

The Constitution is a blueprint upon which a successful nation was constructed, it is not "flawed" in the least.

We need to be able to hold public officials personally to account for their actions and in particular, to be able to prosecute them for honest services mail fraud. Put even one judge in the slammer for replacing the golden mete-wand of the law with the crooked cord of his own discretion, and the rest would stop. Immediately.

We the People of the United States, in Order to form a more perfect Union, establish Justice, insure domestic Tranquility, provide for the common defence,[1] promote the general Welfare, and secure the Blessings of Liberty to ourselves and our Posterity, do ordain and establish this Constitution for the United States of America.

Sure it is different. Their are precedents and trends etc The simple fact is all its life it has been a living document. No judge is sovereign.

The Iranian uprising would have had little or no impact if weapons were used. The murder of Neda would have gone unnoticed in an armed revolt easily put down. No revolution first must have the support of the people. That is starting now. If they had used arms it would be over and they would all be dead.

At the battle of Yorktown , Thomas Nelson, Jr., noted that the British General Cornwallis had taken over the Nelson home for his headquarters. He quietly urged General
George Washington to open fire. The home was destroyed,. Francis Lewis had his home and properties destroyed. The enemy jailed his wife on a British ship, and she died within a few months. John Hart was driven from his wife's bedside as she was dying. Their 13 children fled for their lives. His fields and his gristmill were laid to waste. For more than a year he lived in forests and caves, returning home to find his wife dead and his children vanished.

Our Secretary of the Treasury committed tax fraud; we would be crucified for what he did. What about Tom Daschle? Bradley Schlozman? Tim Griffin? Ed Nottingham?

Actually there is quite a bit of diversity of viewpoints in the Conservaitve Community.

Balancing the budget. Some would agree to raise taxes, some would support reducing spending, some think we should cut taxes and allow the resulting growth to pay down the debt.

On social issues some believe the Federal Government has no role. Some believe a limited or advisory role. Still others believe social programs are fine for the State or Local Government but never the Federal Government.

We see this diversity with school education. Some conservatives support school choice, some support vouchers, some support tax credits, some support tax deductions. There is a wide range of solutions to many problems.

You just don't get that kind of diversity of opinion in the Liberal community. Every Liberal supports bigger Government, more taxes, more spending no matter who the high taxes hurt. Rich people, poor people, old people, working people, single moms, They just don't care.

Liberals think its fine that if there is an education problem in Detroit, for the good taxpayers in Atlanta to help fund and hire a Washington Bureaucrat a thousand miles away. They support giving him a staff, office, government car, cell phone, filing cabinets, computers and all the support for him to figure out what money he should send them.

Yes, you will not find much diversity of opinion in the liberal community. In fact if someone in the Liberal community comes up with a good solution that does not require bigger government, they are demonize. We see this over and over again.

Note that certain words or phrases are evident, such "INSTITUTED AMONG MEN", "DERIVING their JUST powers FROM the consent of the governed", . . . RIGHT OF THE PEOPLE to ALTER or to ABOLISH, and to ESTABLISH NEW Government . . . "

I am not suggesting a violent overthrow, That would be costly, wasteful and foolish! According to the Constitution, there are other methods, like referendum or petition of redress.

While I do not have enough money to make too many long-distance phone calls, my printer/scanner/copier machine, with the proper software, gives me complete faxing capabilities. First it is questionable if it was Constitutionally ratified.

Second, and most importantly, even if in effect, it would ONLY be another way of raising revenue. IT WOULD NOT AUTHORIZE anyone to take that money and give it to another, it may only be used for those enumerated powers delegated under the US constitution and more specifically as given in Article 1, Section 8.

Government is to protect life, liberty and property/fruit of labor, not take away from those, nor be a provider.

To reassert one's rights by any means necessary is not to overthrow the government. The government can only rightfully, legally be considered that which has been chartered, beyond that in power it is null and void and of no force(speaking of laws passed, but applies also to men). It is when "government" overthrows the sovereignty of men, that restoration(not revolution) of man's natural rights is imperative, and legal.

Contrary to what some say, the Declaration of Independence is a legally binding document. How so? It is state governments that were formed to make so what was decreed in the D of I, and FURTHER most states included wholesale in their state constitutions the D of I, or very similar language. As the federal government was granted legislative power in regards to external matters on behalf of the states, and internal matters affecting the citizens of states, it is then legally binding on the federal government to not infringe on or deny state governments their constitutional authority as per the 10th amendment.

The reason that I put forward the D of I as being a legal document is to remind people that the federal government was never to have specific powers in regards to individuals. As the federal government's purpose was not really to preserve those liberties fought to be retained, but rather to strengthen and protect the state government's that were already doing so, I see it as a disingenuous and misleading argument as to the D of I being a legal document federally.
On the federal level it is states/people corporately that are the concern, and not individuals. Thus the whole discussion is not natural rights or inalienable rights, but states rights, and as states are creations of sovereign people, they would not have inalienable rights, only be empowered to preserve them. Unfortunately there has been an illegal transition from the state level to the federal level for individual legislation and with the removal of the distinctions people buy into a wrong paradigm.

Yesterday, sick of Sarah Palin and Michael Jackson, I stuck an old VHS movie in the machine to half-watch while sewing. The plot was about the French Revolution---aristocrats were being brought by the cartload to the guillotine, where their heads were chopped off. I could understand the logic: lower-class people were resentful of the wealth of aristocrats, who paid with their lives for their excesses.

But it made me think of all the calls for revolution, bloodshed, overthrow of government, and violent uprising that I see now on right-wing websites (eg "we must water the Tree of Liberty with blood" etc). The aristocrats who kept you poor were the CEOs of companies that accepted Bush's payola for sending your factory jobs to Asia. They are the super-rich who sheltered their income in the Bahamas, depriving you of the benefits their taxes would have bought. They are the executives of Corporate America who took away your Blue Cross and who, after keeping you on for thirty years smelling your retirement pension, then told you "Sorry, no pension". They put their profit above your well-being and broke promises to you. They broke the back of the union that represented you. Then they taught you that all those benefits you weren't getting any more would have made this a Communist country.

So why aren't you going after them? You aren't. Instead, you are attacking an administration that is TRYING to assure your Blue Cross (or whatever plan you choose) and is setting rules for business to follow so it can no longer screw you, and me, and all of us ordinary people. It seems to me you are aiming your pitchforks at the wrong party.

Sir, first of all, I would like to tell you that you are the poorest excuse for a U.S. citizen as I have ever heard speak.
