Will the Dems' health care Christmas Present to America be an improvement or detriment to our health care system?

Everyone defines success differently.  That is what makes personal success so complex. What your neighbor values will be different from what you value.  It is important to understand your personal version of success, which includes all aspects of life: family, physical, social, spiritual, financial, community and business just to name a few.  Once you have defined your version of success, then it is time to Dream BIG and make it happen.

In, “5 Principles for a Successful Life: From Our Family to Yours,” which I co-authored with my father, Newt Gingrich, Principle One is Dream Big.  Why dream big?  Because the only other options are to dream small or not dream at all—both of which will not yield worthwhile results.

Dreams are essential, no matter what age we are—they help focus our energy on the future and keep us hopeful.  Dreaming—finding that picture and allowing its pursuit to motivate you—is key.

When you dream, don't let practical considerations limit you: the bigger the better. Big dreams inspire you to start moving. They grab your imagination and fill your mind, consume your thoughts and lead you to act. Because they are hard to achieve, they provide you with a great sense of satisfaction once you have accomplished them. Remember that you will accomplish only as much as you dream you can—so if you want to accomplish big things, you'd better dream big.

Everyone can see what is certain and real, but only those who can imagine what could be have a chance to create and live their dreams. Those without a dream will have no reason to strive, work hard, or think of better days to come. People who dream big accomplish big.

A big dream is a goal that will stretch you beyond your current capabilities. That is the point. Dream BIG.

How big is big enough?  Tavis Smiley, one of our 42 contributors, explains it best, “If people don't laugh at you when you share your dreams, then you're not dreaming big enough.”

If your Dream is big, the next step is to make sure it is your dream and yours alone.  Our dreams are influenced by others—our parents, siblings, grandparents, teachers, employers—and that is fine. While others may influence your dreams, only you can create them. After all, only you know what really makes you excited and ready to work hard.

Your big dream will be in an area of your life where you have talent and interest. Talent is an important element because it is unique to you and provides you with the ability to perform better than others in the same area. A genuine interest is important too because it allows you to be passionate about your dream rather than trying to make yourself work toward a goal that doesn't interest you. Very few of us have the discipline to become masters in an area we dislike. Choose a dream that fits your passion.

If you have a big dream that is yours – it is time to begin making it a reality by setting a deadline.  When obstacles occur, view them as challenges rather than frustrations and roadblocks.

A few years ago, one of my Big Dreams was to become a columnist.  With an MBA in finance, and a background in corporate finance and planning, it might appear to be an unusual dream.  But, as an avid reader and lover of words and their impact and meaning, this dream fits my interest and passions.  I wrote my first column in November of 2004.  Ongoing practice, writing and rewriting, getting up early and working late and putting in the time and effort, have moved me closer to this big dream.

After identifying your big dream and turning it into measurable goals with deadlines, put these goals in a place where you will see them daily. This will remind you of where you are headed and allow your subconscious to continually work on ways to help you achieve your goal.

I Had A Dream
I had a dream - that in my retirement years I would live in the greatest country the world has ever seen, that I would enjoy freedom and liberty in the most fantastic Republic ever conceived in the history of mankind. However, the Mountebank-Of-The-White-House seems hell-bent on ensuring that does not happen. At breakneck speed he dismantles this once-great nation one segment at a time while spouting his thinly-veiled socialist drivel.

My dream is not nearly as bright as it once was, but there are some signs of hope. Today will be telling - if oBUMa speaks without substantial opposition and protest this afternoon at Notre Dame the dream for all patriotic, freedom-loving Americans will flicker and fade a little more.

I urge everyone who understands what it truly means to have been graced as a citizen of this glorious Republic to continue the battle on every front, eagerly, with passion and committment. Let us dream big - that our efforts will change the tidal wave that has swept our beloved country and through our unrelenting efforts the vermin now ruling the country will be run out of office at the first opportunity.

Another ME Saga
Did you know that Newt, her relative, pushed the NAFTA agreement. Now we have 32 years of trade deficit. Back to Jackie -- advice from someone who has little experience beyond being in a family. Another ME story. As she says listen to me -- ME, ME, ME, ME.

NAFTA
"Buy American Only" is the voluntary political equivalent of a blockade, a military tactic used to isolate, impoverish, and defeat and enemy.

Free trade did not cause our problems, because we still do not have free trade. We have fascism, the political/economic system which allows the illusion of private ownership of businesses while government sets all the important policies and procedures.

As usual, fascism failed, and the "evil" nominal owners got the blame. Examples: S & Ls in the 1980's, Big Oil, mortgage lenders, and General Motors.

TeeHall, reading comprehension...
is something you should work on. The column was not about her, her, her. It is about you, you, you and what YOU can do if you dare to dream big and then hold yourself accountable to YOUR dream, work toward it, learn from your setbacks and move forward.

You must be really intimidated at the possibilities.

Dems Dream Big!!
Find out just how big Dems dream here...http://theblacksphere.blogspot.com/2009/05/republican-solution-to-winning.html

Eye-opening and funny!

Dreams
I have often wondered how my life would be different if I had followed my dream that I had had a child rather than following my parents' advice to be "practical" about a career.

Better than....
Why is your book better than previous books that say the same thing?

The Heart Of Conservative Philosophy
This post goes to the heart of conservative philosophy and is the seed from which the Republican Party needs for rebirth. The fundimental difference between liberalism and conservatism is liberalism is about government providiing and making decisons on what it believes the collective is dreaming while conservatism is about individuals having the freedom to pursue their own dreams. The problem with liberalism is it does not take into account we are all different and unique so do not all share the same dreams. Once one tries to mold everyone into the same dream one begins removing the individual freedoms on which our constitution was built directly assulting the very ideals which founded our nation. If every child read this article and these principles were taught in our schools our nation would be much better off.

Newt's Dreams
Other than his first big dream of committing adultry against his first wife and telling her he was divorcing her while she was ailing in the hospital (while criticizing Clinton for an affair) Newt's other big dreams seem to have been to essentially hurt and injure Americans by shutting down government, obstructing healthcare, keeping the minimum wage at subpoverty levels, wanting to cut education budgets to put our students at a disdvantage, and giving tax cuts to unworthy elites.

Gingrinch was such a poor leader that he was booted for failure by his own party and replaced by Tom Delay.

Delay was another poor choice by Republicans who ran sweat shops on the Mariana'a island and required forced abortions on the young girls who worked there. These are part of the reasona why Conservatives were roundly booted from office by Democrats who landslided them in 06 and 08 and will do it again in 2010.

While Conservatives can dream big, they lack moral integrity and have shown themselves to be fiscally incompetent when put in important offices. Need I remind Conservatives of Ted Haggard Mark Foley and Larry Craig (who never resigned as he promised).
For the record, Bush and his Conservatives exploded the budget deficit, increased the size of government 60% in only 8 years, gave tax breaks to billionaires to increase the national debt against future generations, awarded $700 billion to Wall Street crooks, and put the American economy into a death spiral that has landed America into near receivorship to China.

While Republicans can sometimes win office, they simply are incapable of governing with integrity or competence. Conservatism itself has proven to be a dead end philosophy that cannot function in any long term capacity without ruining our nation.

Audacity!
Dream big and succeed...well, no tooooo much.

The One has spoken.

Come on Oprah, lets go get a burger...la la la lala

First MA
He was NOT booted for failure. He was reponsable for getting many Republicans elected to congress with his "Contract for America". Good marketing.
Now, look it up and find out why Newt was really booted.
If you want to talk moral integrity, check out your own party. Start with your messiah:
- A “reverend and mentor” who GD’s America...
- A wife who has never been “proud” of America...
- A man who runs on transparency – then seals his college records - to prove it...
- A man who claims citizenship – then hires a team of lawyers - to secure it...
- A man who would attempt to destroy another life – simply for asking a question he should have answered...
- A man who campaigns on eight years of runaway spending and a deficit – then quadruples it in less than 100 days...
- A man who bans lobbyist – then attempts to hire one...
- A man who condemns cheats and dishonesty – then appoints one to run the treasury...
- A man who vows to find all of the tax cheats in this country – but fails to turn around and confront one...
- A man who has never held a job – but the most important one in the world...
- A man who feels hard work should pay – for those who choose not to work…
- A man who’s ability to speak – is dictated by his ability to read….
- A man who feels government can solve the problems it faces – while addressing everything but the problems it created…

You're confusing the advertisement for the product. Conservatism in action is fundamentally different from its stated goals and principles. For example, Conservatives still say they are for small government but supported the Bush administration which expanded the size by 60%. Conservatism was supposed to be about "Financial integrity" but we have seen the economic disaster and debt Bush has created for future generations. Conservatism is principally concerned with giving tax breaks to wealthy elites, propping up Capitalism with bailouts, corporate welfare, undoing safety nets, deregulation, stirring up wars to keep the American public compliant, offshoring jobs and insourcing illegals (Ronald Reagan) to impoverish families and destroy unions. Conservatism is a dead end and has nothing new or workable to offer Americans.

That's why the Republican Party hovers at 22% approval rating according to PollingReport.com and was landslided in 06 and o8 and will be trimmed back more in 2010. Those who are unwilling or unable to accept the realities of the world, those who won't look at the sour fruits of their policies and who still cling to a failed philosophy will be increasingly rejected by Americans who have to live in the real world and want solutions not more empty promises.

To David in FL
I did not vote for Obama and am not a Democrat and don't support many of his policies.

Yet the catastrophic failures of the Republican Party were so great and complete that the party no longer is viable and has essentially no credibility among the vast majority of Americans hence they chose Democrats.

Conservatives were given the chance to lead our nation since Reagan and failed miserably in ethics and economics and protecting our nation and prosecuting terrorism. Conservatism itself is a dead end and politically unworkable system for America. Americans don't want it anymore and why should they?

Conservatives have nothing positive to show for their time in office and want power without performance. Time to move on to workable philosophy.

WHere have you been, First?
Name a CONSERVATIVE that supported Bush spending policies. We supported his low tax policies. Pres. Bush was not a conservative, in that he grew Government. Conservatives want the opposite. That is why the Republican party is rebuilding - but don't expect us to listen to what Democrats think we should do. We want Government to get out of the way of individual prosperity. Why does this bother you? Are you a bum?

Do not confuse
Conservatives and Republicans. THere are still many Republicans who are not conservatives. The party, however, might become much more conservative before the next election. If that happens, Democrats will not stand a chance, as Conservatism works EVERY TIME IT IS TRIED. So let's try it, honestly.
Both parties have been quite corrupt. One party is rebuilding and may fix that problem. The other party just keeps getting worse - despicable!
We will see . God help America!

So, First is
going with the Party he knows to be despicable, because the he thinks they are more popular? What ever happened to independant critical thinking?

Actually
Regan did quite well in economics. Better re-study your history. He did a great job of bringing us back from the Carter catastrophy.

To FIrst
First, you clearly do not understand conservatism or conservatives. You state conservatives supported Bush's growth in government? Bush’s growth in government was far more acceptable then the massive, bloated, government power grab of the current administration but it clearly was not supported by conservatives. Where do you get your information, from some liberal media source? There are certain things conservatives supported about Bush, especially his ability to be aggressive on the war on terror. He kept us safe, which is a fact that cannot be disputed. Some conservatives did not support him on Iraq, feeling that that too was government going to far. I supported Iraq as if anything government’s roll is to keep it and us safe is better to be a leader then sit back and wait to be hit again. On spending though Bush was not a conservative and this is what alienated him from many conservatives. True conservatism has not been tried in full. Tax cuts do work and there is proof of this in the revenue they generated into the treasury, but for a truly sound conservative policy one also needs spending cuts. True conservatism is live and well, but has not been put in practice. As the population sees their freedoms being taken away by big government liberalism they will turn on the False Profit and his hate America gang. With a truly educated populace based on the principles of this article Conservatism can resurge. The sad thing is that it is the Democratic Party that destroys lives, destroys jobs and is destroying this country led by the false profit "the unqualified one" and his fellow travelers.
