Will the Dems' health care Christmas Present to America be an improvement or detriment to our health care system?

Dear fellow conservatives:

I'm writing to you soon after Mitt Romney suspended his campaign and Sen. John McCain addressed the Conservative Political Action Conference, not to calm you down, but to put McCain's campaign and career in historical perspective.

We all love history and understand that to ignore its lessons is to put our Republic in harm's way. As a student of 20th century history, I'm rereading Martin Gilbert's great biography of Winston Churchill. As Gilbert chronicles the life of Churchill, he recalls the discomfort Churchill caused his Tory friends when he joined the Liberal Party in 1904. Churchill, a man of principle, left the Conservative Party because of its apostasy on trade. The Conservatives turned protectionist early in the 20th Century, and Churchill crossed over to the Liberal Party. The vitriol it provoked was of legendary proportions.

Churchill was a well-known maverick. He was a pugnacious and provocative speaker who challenged many of the icons of British Parliament and certainly made a number of enemies in and out of his party.

Churchill had what he called his "wilderness years" in the late 1920s and early 1930s, but as the storm clouds gathered over Europe in the '30s, he became increasingly at odds with the government of Neville Chamberlain. He was even banned from talk radio (aka the BBC) in those days.

As war engulfed Europe and the Nazis terrorized the Low Countries and France, he was called back to service as prime minister of a divided war Cabinet. Gilbert's history of that event says:

"By nightfall on 10 May, 1940, Churchill was prime minister. He later wrote of how, when he went to bed that night, he was conscious 'of a profound sense of relief. At last I had authority to give directions over the whole scene. I felt as if I were walking with destiny, and that all my past life had been but a preparation for this hour and for this trial.' Yet there was still some Conservative opposition to his emergence as prime minister; on May 11 Lord Davidson wrote to Stanley Baldwin: 'The Tories don't trust Winston. After the first clash of war is over it may well be that a sounder government may emerge.'"

Obviously historical parallels are never perfect, but I believe this one reflects the reality that, like Churchill, McCain's whole life has been but preparing him to be best able to lead our nation and prosecute this war on terror to a successful conclusion.

His courageous and perspicacious support for the surge in Iraq gives him a unique role to play in this trial, every bit as important as defeating Nazism and fascism.

The mistakes he alluded to in his CPAC speech reflect humility going forward that is encouraging to those of us like me, Steve Forbes, Ted Olsen, former Sen. George Allen and other conservatives who wanted to see in him a genuine desire to work with, and listen to, some of the original Reaganites.

As my friend and fellow Reaganite Bill Bennett wrote recently, "Sen. John McCain has a great deal to recommend him. He has a great deal more to offer the country, and it is our sincere hope that, as we move toward the general election, more and more people will see that. In the interim, it is our equal hope that Sen. McCain will take the next several months to build his support among conservative doubters within our party. We deserve that, too, so that - come September - we will all be confident we have nominated the right man."

Collectively, you have all pointed out some of his faults (and failures), but overall, McCain is a genuine American hero, an 82.5 percent conservative, according to the American Conservative Union, and a man whose courage and tenacity are well-chronicled.

You gave him your best shots and he took it like a man. Now, as he heads toward the nomination, I urge you to continue to be critical, but to do so in measured ways that will not damage his ability to win in November against those who would weaken our nation's defense, wave a white flag to al-Qaida, socialize our health-care system, and promote income redistribution and class warfare instead of economic growth and equality of opportunity.

With Supreme Court appointments to be made in the near future and attacks mounting on traditional family values, it's critical to our cause to have a candidate who can appeal to Reagan Democrats and independent voters who share our world view. The stakes are enormous, and I urge you to put the McCain candidacy into historical perspective and recognize that he isn't just a bulldog of the Senate, but that he can become the lion of the 21st century.

Well said!! McCain has my money, my vote!!

Lets be perfectly clear...
McCain is no Churchill.

Did Ann go to far?

Unlike McCain, Hitler ‘Had a Coherent Tax Policy,’ Coulter Says
Did Ann go to far?

CNS-In a speech at the Omni Shoreham Hotel in Washington, D.C., Friday, just down the hall from the Conservative Political Action Conference (CPAC), author Ann Coulter said that the primary difference between Sen. John McCain (R-Ariz.) and Adolf Hitler was that Hitler “had a coherent tax policy.”

Coulter compared a potential alliance between disillusioned conservative Republicans and Sen. Hillary Clinton to the alliance between Winston Churchill and Joseph Stalin during World War II, which was formed to defeat Hitler.

“I’m not comparing McCain to Hitler,” she added. “Hitler had a coherent tax policy.”

The remark received wild applause from the audience of about 500 conservative activists. Many in the crowd seemed hostile to the idea of a McCain presidency and cheered Coulter’s attacks on the Arizona senator.

NOT an 82.5% Conservative
I wish people would STOP with the nonsense that McCain has an 82.5% ACU rating. To cite this disengenous number only serves to weaken your argument that McCain is somehow a "Conservative".

Look at his ENTIRE ACU rating and you will see that since the beginning of Bill Clinton's second term McCain has only averaged an ACU rating of 77.5. Since Bush has been in office McCain has only averaged an ACU score of 73! The last rating he recieved was a 65. Notice anything about those scores?

They are ALL headed in the opposite direction of Conservatism.

I put together this anaylsis of the ACU scores of my two home Senators (McCain and Kyl)

http://davesdroppings.townhall.com/g/86f01dd5-c274-4776-98c 3-4cb7023c4cf2

Is McCain more conservative that Barack or Hillary. Sure, but that does not make him a Conservative.

McCain is the most qualified
candidate running for the commander in chief position. I trust americans will understand the stakes and give him the privilege to lead our nation against Jihadists. Obama or Hillary (no difference) would be a disaster for this country's foreign policy and social construction. I have no doubt McCain will win the whitehouse this fall.

Ha, that's a good one Jack!
McCain as Churchill?

Your words: "Churchill, a man of principle, left the Conservative Party because of its apostasy on trade. The Conservatives turned protectionist early in the 20th Century, and Churchill crossed over to the Liberal Party."

--------------------------
Right there, you have described TWO differences with the supposedly Churchillian McCain. Churchill's "Party changed" - Not Churchill, and when it did, Churchill crossed over to the Liberals on Principal!

McCain, however, did NOT switch parties when he grew discontented with the Republican party, he merely kept claiming to be a Republican, while taking ever more Liberal positions. In other words, HE changed - Not us, and instead of taking the high road to switch parties to one with which he agreed, he merely attempted to undermine and sabotage his own party to the benefit of the other side - time and time again!

How you can claim ANY similarity between McCain's actions and Churchill's (as you describe them), is beyond me.

McCain is No Republican, and he is Far from honorable in his actions. Churchill fought to save his country from foreign invaders, whilst McCain is determined to lay out the red carpet for them. He is a traitor to his own countrymen, and I will NEVER vote for him.

But thanks for laying it all out for me. Too bad I'm not stupid enough to fall for it.

Jack Kemp, you are the man!
Jack, your conservative bona fides are unquestionable.

McCain's conservative bona fides are non-existent.

HE needs to make his case. But it's nice he's been able to enlist your help. Tell your friend to get out there himself and renounce and repent of McCain-Feingold and every other McCain-idiot legislation...

A nomination process not coronation
McCain has not yet won the nomination. Why bother with picking delegates if The Party pre-determines the nominee? Should Texans cancel their primary because the Party wants unity? Unified or not, McCain's chances in the general election are dismal. Don't set up conservatives as defeatists and then blame them for a McCain failure. McCain will swing more and more leftward to attract the "moderate" and independent voters (oh, but don't forget, he is a true conservative!). The alienation of conservatives will only worsen after the GOP convention.

Jackie!
Suppose I were to swear at you and call you names because I know better than you about immigration. LOL, the more one tries to force me the more I resist. MSM calls him a Maverick and loves him. Well now true conservatives are resisting and we mavericks are waiting for you to love us for our position. Here in TX it will be Huck and if not him Paul. It will never be this hateful, foul RINO! BTW, in your reading did Churchill ever attack his base like McShamnesty?

Commander In Chief??
McCain, by his own admission, wasn't particularly well adapated to the Navy life. Having two admirals in the family, especially back then, helped him a lot throughout his career. I take nothing away from his career but point out that being a Captain (or Col. in other services) doesn't make you qualified to be a Commander in Chief. Neither does being a politician. If that were the case, there are thousands of retired 0-6's out there, just as qualified.
He may be the best qualified of the field but that speaks to the poor quality of the field, not to McCain's superiority.

McCain A Churchill ???
Jack you really reached down deep in the hat to pull this RABBIT out ??? Because you were once a member of the U.S. Congress and a former Republican Cabinet member does not make you all knowing.
I think maybe the gist of your article could get you considered in a McCain cabinet.
Yes Churchill crossed over, but he came out boldly and did so, whereas McCain has done his crossing over while hiding under a Republican Conservative mantle.
In time of war, hero or not Mc Cain could be shot as a spy if caught in the opposing sides uniform.

McCain
No way no how never! So back the guy that has spit in your face so someone else wont? I always thought highly of Jack Kemp but this article is too much. We need a change and it aint McCain.

Clusiana
Well, here we have another perfumed prince, Jack Kemp, educating the dumb (m)asses about past history. Today and tomorrow. I'm tired of the lectures. I'm of being told to just calm down. McCain being compared to Churchill? I don't think so. Churchill held Britian together during war. Then the Brits moved on. I remember McCain's history. McCain-Feingold.McCain-Kennedy.McCain-Leiberman and the Gang of 14. Jack Kemp, Bill Bennett and all the rest who label anti-McCain-i-ites as Trotskyites, Maoists and such, take a flying leap into you-know-where. Keep your perfumed mouths shut. Oh, and being called soul-less by President Bush because I (many Americans) did not want that amnesty bill.

"You gave him your best shots and...
...he took it like a man."

Whuuuuuh?

A man takes honest criticism and decides if such criticism adhere or compromise his core principles. A does not tantrum like a child and threaten to take his ball and go home. A metaphore of McCain's overt attempt to switch parties when those meanie Republicans weren't giving him his due. I speculate the only thing that stopped him was his sense of political self preservation in Arizona.

Elites Vs. the Workers
It is amazing that these Country Club Republicans are telling us how to vote. Kemp is a nice guy, BUT just because he likes McCain does not mean I will support McCain.
Kemps REAL target of this letter is NOT Rush, Sean, Mark, Ann, Laura, et al, but the people who listen to these shows. They listen because they can think for themselves, AND their are some things in common between the host and audience. To all you working class folks, you are about to get screwed with high taxes to pay for Social Security, Medicare, and Medicaid. The Baby Boomers are reaching the age of 60-65 now. Gen X folks, do not be fooled by these old farts...we will be paying for these handouts.

Politics - Not Principle
One note of history - Churchill was generally not thought to have left the Conservatives for ideaolgy but rather politics. His party withdrew from the coalition government and when Churchill placed 4th in the election, he left the party, became a Liberal party member, lost again, became an Independent, lost again and finally won as an independent. He changed back to Conservative.

These weren't principled moves but rather political. A bit like, oh I don't know, McCain??

Who wrote this headline?
Interesting sleight-of-hand. As you read the column, Jack does not engage in any of the inflammatory talk-radio bashing that can be found all over this website. Still, someone at TH deemed it necessary to take yet another gratuitous cheapshot at a segment of the media that they aren’t able to control.

In the words of the great philosopher, Ferris Bueller, “It’s a little childish and stupid.”

Churchhill and McCain?
What kind of crack are you smoking man? I could twist things similar to also compare McCain to Hitler but that argument is not really valid either. Just because there are some similarities does not make it the same at all.

History teaches us that if we allow McCain to be the standard GOP leader, then the party will shift to his positions and Conservatism will be left in the dust.

If Cain was an honorable man with even one ounce of Integrity, he would resign his position in the Senate and drop out of the race and appologize to the American people.

McCain is no conservative. But, then
again, neither is Huckabee. Neither man offers enough to conservatives to motivate one to campaign for him. I won't reward McCain's betrayal of the party and conservative positions. I won't vote for McCain or Huckabee because they are a little less socialist than Hillary/Obama. If conservatives vote for McHuck on that basis, it just encourages other "would be presidents" to go as far left as they can without actually going farther left than their democrat opponent.

IR-Racer
Thanks for the post. People trying to put lipstick on McCain's record are simply creating mistrust, as the instinct's of many conservatives are verified by your information. He's a centrist, and has been for many years. That doesn't make him evil, but to portray it as being conservative - is clearly misinformation. Kemp should know better.

Tough call
We don't like McCain. But how can I vote otherwise? As a Mormon, I cannot vote for Huckabee as he looks too much like a Carthage Grey to me. The man is willing to play the bigot card. We have suffered too much at the hands of such men. He wants the VP slot, that is clear, and that spoils it for me. I could support Paul but he has the charisma of a turtle.

Looks like I am shafted for 08.

I need more, Johnny-Jack . . .
Kemp has had some good ideas, but I need more from McCain than a recommendation guy who was unwilling to seriously constrain spending while cutting taxes. We have to get entitlements under control, at the very least I need to know McCain will do so -- while cutting taxes. Give me some more on immigration control also, sport. We might be "conservatives" but we are not stupid, Jack!

Media BTW
Anybody else notice the media is already turning on him a little? I love how the next day after locking up the nomination thanks to Huck that the media is now reporting that actually its McCain that loses to Hitlary and Obama in a national election.

My oh my how things change. I guess McCain is soon going to find out what it is like to get stabbed in the back like he did to much of his party. Seriously, Cain can take his nomination and shove it.

"et tu, Brute?"

McCain is an anti-conservative
If McCain were truly a conservative he wouldn't have to keep pulling out the big guns to try to convince the conservative base. McCain has earned distrust from conservatives from his many years of anti-conservative actions.

The Republican power brokers have taken a play right from the democrats play book: Tell a lie loud enough and often enough and enough folks will start to believe.

Sarah
When are you going to call for Huckabee to drop out?

Like you did Romney!!!

We're getting bombarded...
by Republican faithfuls since Mitt left the race pleading with conservatives to give McCain a chance. Cheap shots have been taken at conservative talk hosts and the conservative populace in general. We've heard it all and there's nothing left to say.

The RNC has deluged the conservative media with endorsements from Republicans accross the spectrum. They've even found many pundits and media operatives to back McCain. Conservatives are being called stupid, ignorant, short-minded, disloyal and many other names.

The problem for the RNC is that conservatives aren't the mindless sheep who put McCain in front in the first place. We can't be manipulated nor can we be anybody's fool. All one has to do is listen to the people calling into talk radio and responding to articles like this one. WE'RE NOT BUYING IT!!!!!!!!!!

I would suggest to McCain and the RNC that McCain has to sell himself to conservatives. His CPAC speech was a good start, but that was just his first "I'm sorry". He has to denounce his prior mistakes and pledge to correct them.

- Overturn McCain-Feingold
- Pledge that illegal aliens will never get citizenship
- Define earmarks. It's fine to pledge not to sign bills with earmarks, but we don't know what he considers earmarks.
- Dump his support of the McCain-Leiberman bill

That's step #2. He won't make it to step #3 and the White House if he refuses to govern like a conservative.

As Rush said Friday, "Don't blame conservatives...blame yourselves" if a Democrat wins in November.

Advice from James Bond
I think the wise thing to do, and maybe what Reagan would tell us as conservatives, is to stay on the path of principle but to not lose sight of practical considerations along the way. We don’t want to be stupid and cut off our nose just to spite our face. Since it looks like we are going to be left with only two choices (either vote McCain or let the dems have the presidency), it seems the best thing true conservatives can do for the cause right now is to become unified behind one of these choices.

Although I don’t like McCain I am going to keep my options and my mind open while I cautiously reflect on the options. To borrow a phrase from James Bond: “Never say never.”

The best plea I've heard so far
Even though many of us are not happy that we don't have a small government minded conservative to support (we really didn't with Bush either, though, so some of us are getting used to it) I appreciate your article.

At least you're not being sarcastic and you're being matter of fact and honest with your plea.

It's true that if we don't support McCain we will be left with an outright socialist, which would be instant horror.

But it's sad that once again we have to support the "lesser of two evils".

Jack, Who?
Correct me if I'm wrong but Jack Kemp is in favor of open borders and amnesty for illegal aliens. Kemp was a miserable VP candidate and did nothing for the ticket. I'm supposed to take his advice??

We'll fight on.
If McCain is the eventual nominee I will hold my nose and vote for him. Know this however I will fight against his nomination with everything I have and so will a bunch of us true conservatives. He doesn't deserve to be our political leader because he has never served our political causes. Instead he has been our political enemy. As an american and a soldier he will always have my respect. But as a politician he has been worse than lacking he's been part of the problem. Everyone knows why. The talk show host just inform us that is the very basic of service we deserve. Without them we would be led to the slaughter like sheep.

TR-Racer
Right on! Here are McCain's ACU ratings for the last several years:

2000 = 81
2001 = 68
2002 = 78
2003 = 80
2004 = 72
2005 = 80
2006 = 65

His 2000-2006 average is 75, not the 82.5 lifetime that Kemp quoutes, or the 85 that Medved quoted on his radio show last week.

I've also heard (can't confirm it at this time), that McCain can't be rated for 2007, because he only showed up for about 50% of the Senate votes.....I suspect he was too busy campaigning or opted NOT to "go on record" for fear of losing votes. Yuh, think?

All said, perhaps one can conclude McCain is becoming before liberal in his golden years.

We are not buying your BS Jack
Jack Kemp, another phony conservative. The worst Vice Presidential candidate in US history. Got totally embarrassed in the debates. Now he wants us to buy into Juan Hernandez McStain's lies. McStain does not even know when he has been caught lying. Kennedy McStain Shame nesty. And Shame on that washed up fat phony conservative Jack Kemp

McCain, Huck, Rudy, Romney...

All were called flip-floping liberals by the Conservatives. Ron Paul was/is called a nut.

Then we see a very good conservative like Thompson... And find out he faked his race to help McCain? Rudy joined the gang too.

Hunter and Tancredo had strong conservative records. But they didn't gather any votes at all from Conservatives?

Adding up the audiences from talk radio and FOX comes to a huge total. These listeners either voted heavily for the "Liberal" candidates, or they did not vote at all.

I cannot believe that Conservatives make up less than 10% of the Party. It just doesn't add up?

"Maverick"?? Like Lincoln Chafee...
I guess the term maverick is in the eye of the beholder. Will McCain hold to his no earmarks? I hope so. Will he nominate constructionists to the Supreme Court? That may be, or it may simply be his interpretation of constructionists i.e. Roe is precedent.

If he did those, that would certainly be in contrast to what the Democrats would do.

Would he veto anti-life legislation? He hasn't said.

McCain is not Churchhill...
but I believe he is the right man to be the next Commander-in-Chief during this time of war. I had McCain near the bottom of my list (just above Paul) througout the first primaries. The more I see of McCain, the more I realize that he would be the tough leader we need during these times and even has a good shot at winning, despite the enthusiasm that the left has to get a Dem back in the White House. Let's get behind John so that Obama and that Clinton couple don't get to lead our country.

What would you rather have?
So Cold-Hard:

What would you rather have then--a Hillary at 9% or an Obama at 0% or a McCain at say 65% then?

You rather have someone that supports you 0% of the time or 9% of the time over someone that does it 65% of the time?

Sounds pretty stupid to me.

I will NOT support this lesser of two...
...evils. Even though this will sound like I shamelessly stole my analysis from Coulter (Her column comes out on Thursday, I said this to my wife on Tuesday-- so maybe she stole from me j/k.) If the dems take the White House and we have the four years of disaster that seem to loom just over the horizon. We conservatives will fight tooth and nail with what we have to thwart their socialist aims. Fortunately, not too much damage can be so wrought that it can't be undone in another 4 (see Jimmy Carter.) Once the average American is reminded of what it is like to have Jimmy Carter in the Oval Office, they will be screaming for a conservative again. Now, if you get McCain and his polish-picnic of screwed up ideals-- you still have the same disaster, but conservatism will also be getting a share of the blame, and you end up with the aftermath of the Hoover Administration, which was 25 years of socialist decline that we are still paying dearly for. No thanks.

Landslide defeat awaits
"Churchill, a man of principle, left the Conservative Party because of its apostasy on trade. The Conservatives turned protectionist early in the 20th Century, and Churchill crossed over to the Liberal Party."

The big difference: at least when Churchill disagreed with his party, he was right.

This is just my own theory, but I believe that many of those who voted for McLeftist in the primaries did so not because they agreed with him on policy, but because they bought the media line that he was the most "electable" of the republicans (my own parents fell for this pap until I straightened them out).

From the outset, I believed just the opposite--that McKennedy was the LEAST electable.
After all, why vote for liberal Cat Chow when Fancy Feast is on the ballot?

Unfortunately, all of those who backed the media-anointed "electable" candidate will see him lose in a manner that will make Reagan v. Carter look like a photo finish.

Ron Paul
Ron Paul does't understand that the terrorist religion doesn't want anyone who is not muslim to live. They are much like the Borg from Star Trek. Resistance is futile. We will assimilate. You can't hide from them it was only a matter of time before we fought with them anyway. Stick your head in the sand and get your legs cut from beneath you. We cannot hide. Technology and freedom are their enemy. Thats why I could never vote for Ron Paul. He just does't get that.

Akagi
I'd rather be stupid than a coward.

Cowards are people like you who fail to vote their convictions.

Oops, I'm sorry, you Dhimmicraps don't have any convictions!

Whaaaaaaaaaaaa!!!

Mr. Kemp. Sir.
Your attempt to make a silk purse out of a sow's ear carries no weight. Claiming the so-called maverick status of both Churchill and McCain does not put McCain on the Churchillian level, nor does it anoint him with the mantle of greatness that Churchill earned rightfully and wore with such dignity.

For shame, sir, for shame.

Sock Puppet for President
http://conservablogs.com/publiusforum/2008/02/07/sock-puppe t-for-president/ Well is he or is he not? Only you can fathom that one.

Democrats
And what evidence do you have I am a Democrat? I actually have no loyality to any American political party, although, in a contest between the two, the GOP are more inline with my interests than the Democrats and thus I support the GOP for that reason. And there is no bravery in giving your enemies victory...you aren't voting for the person to replace Jesus, but the person that would best match you preferences--and so, who do you think that is..Clinton and Obama who support you 9% and 0% of the time or McCain at 65%?

Principles...well I am a
Machiavellian really...some see that term as an insult..I see it as a compliment. The only principles I have concern the results and my interests.

Stand Tall
So tell me, Jack. Do you really expect McCain to be able to win the so-called "war on terror" when he admits that we will be at war with terrorists for many decades. Huhh?

Dam mit Jack
I love you man. I hear what your saying but, it doesn't matter.

You say it is critical at this time to nominate someone capable of attracting democrats and independents who share our worldview. I agree. McCain is not it. Huckabee is not it. Therefore, we have lost. It is doubtful we could have nominated anyone capable of beating the communist assault that is building. Obama is bringing in new converts everyday. I feel it is much more important to stand for the ideal, stand for the truth, then to compromise and try to win an election. If the true path is watered down too much it does not represent an alternative. I fear the republican party is getting sucked into the same black hole that swallowed the democratic party some time ago.

Since all the liberals like to endorse someone in both parties, why don't you follow Coulter's lead and endorse Hillary. It doesn't mean you are going to vote that way. The NYT people are certainly not going to vote for a republican but, they still endorse candidates signalling the soldiers who to vote for in our primaries. If we get one of those two, as seems likely, Hillary would be the safer bet. She needs the support or we will likely have our first black president, a rookie with a muslim background and separatist church ties and whose adoring fans stare glassy eyed at every word he speaks and nod their heads. Might as well get used to it, President Obama.

Since Osama's followers appear to be of a similar mental state as Obama's, I am sure they will get along wonderfully. Obama vs. Osama winner take all debate this Friday on CNN.

Stuff it, Kemp
Every so often, the progressive Kemp emerges from his crypt to lecture us less than enlightened conservative hicks on what the proper party view should be. His credential is that he once took a couple economics courses, became a supply sider and headed a gov't bureaucracy, which he hopes to again despite his advanced years within a McCain gerontocracy.

His exhortations to party members to 'unite' around the candidate would be reasonable if the man in question were a faithful party man and not a treacherous political renegade.

Mr. Kemp:

The job seekers line begins around the corner. Your application has been accepted, your requisite plea for unity in support of the candidate has been duly noted and your assigned number is 28,356. You should be hearing from us in nine months.

confusion
How exactly is it that I am expected to believe that there is not an exceedingly well orchestrated conspiracy going on?

If it weren't so sad, it would be laughable.

LOL, Kemp is just
about as liberal as McCain. They go together. maybe here is that long awaited VP nominee.

I see he is throwing out that bogus 82% rating.

RITFLMAO, another one.

Never
Keep trying...maybe one TownHall pundit will make conservatives throw our principles out the window and vote for the lastest liberal Repub. I'm pretty sure Mr. Kemp's comparing McCain with Churchill won't do the trick.

McCain should begin right now to pass conservative legislation as a senator. Instead of campaigning for conservative votes, he can actually advance conservatism in his role as a senator. He can reverse McCain-Feingold for starters, and sending ICE after a few dozen high profile employers of illegal aliens would be useful too.

Simply put, the guy is a liberal. He won't reverse McCain-Feingold nor start chasing illegals back from whence they came because he is a liberal and favors liberal policies.

If I am forced to vote for a liberal, I'm going to pick the one who is the most honest about it. Obama is my choice for the President to lead us further down the socialist path. He makes no bones about it. Painful, yet quick.

$.02
Mr. Kemp:

First of all I do not consider you or McCain conservative. You along with Medved, Bennett, Ludlow, etc. are perfect examples of what has gone wrong with the Repulbican party. You place party before principle. You put party befor country. The Big Tent theroy that brought moderates into the party has been a failure.
I can not see any reason why McCain deserves my vote or any true conservatives vote. Should McCain become president he will bring Kennedy, Feingold and other liberal policies into the whitehouse. I fear McCain more than a Hillary or Obama presidency. The real battle is in the house and senate. McCain is a huge mistake in my opinion and I will not reward him with my vote.

Churchillian?
Nice try Jack. After twenty years of spitting on us he is now running for President and suddenly he wants to call us "friends"??? He flies into a rage when he can't get his amnesty bill through, calling us trashy, vulgar names, tells an opposition Senator "f**k you" and now he is a "family values leader? Sorry, no sale here. I believe in conversions but not this all too convenient one.

a raft of cowards
The coward in peacetime always rambles on about his/her own petty stakes in the overall game;

Nobody can work with him or persuade him, untill an enemy attcksd. Yeah, then he'll offer the leader a hand.

That is ALL Jack Kemp says in the reference to Winston Churchill; not that McCain is already proved in the crucible of history. Kemp points out how many Brits detested the man who would later bring them total victory over the enemy. They hated Churchill;

You like cowards have him set up as too unaproachable for McCain; of course, Churchill is an ICON.

But he wasn't until he proved it; while Neville Chamberlain had to resign in disgrace. There is the world of public opinion based on 20/20 hindsight; (Why ! We know all about Churchill; McCain's no Churchill!!!) and there's the cruel world a Leader faces; without reliance on cowards.

SimJIm
You speak for me. If McCain claaims conservative credentials, lets see him get back into the senate, in accordance with his oath to serve, not run for president. And while there, lead the charge for repeal of his boo-boo laws and reverse his position on illegal aliens.

Jack
You are one of the elites that has caused conservatives to revolt against the Liberals like John'the liar'McCain.

Hey Savage99....

You coming to Jack's Place?

I was wondering when Roy Cohn's boytoy
was going to show up. Good ol' Jack "4-F" Kemp, whose knees were good enough for ten years in the AFL, but not good enough for 'Nam.

Talk about crud, er, I mean cred....

I'm confused
Is there maybe a flaw in our nomination process somewhere? Here we are in February with about 20 something states that have not yet voted. McCain has managed to get a whopping roughly thirty percent of Republicans to vote for him. And he is already the Republican crown prince??? There has to be a better way to select a candidate to represent the party than this.

A Conservative for McCain
I'm voting for McCain because he's strong on my top three issues.
1)War on terror - best person for the job. Do you really want to trust either dem to protect this country?
2)Wasteful gov spending - He's always been a strong voice against pork barrel earmarks.
3)ProLife - Do you want the dems picking the next few Supreme Court Justices?

My next thing is probably closing the borders and he says he's going to do that. There is no one out there that is perfect, but he's the closest we have. That might be settling but I feel like I've settled in every election since I voted for Reagan.

I don't remember the exact quote but Reagan used to tell people to remember that if someone agrees with you 80% of the time he's your friend, not some 20% enemy.

Do you really think?
Serious question.

Most of the vitriol I see on this site (And I am a liberal, so in essence I disagree with ALL of you) against McCain consists of the following:

1. Some variation of "McShamnesty."
2. A long list of policy, deliberately misinterpreted to sound as if the senator was insane.

Now, I don't doubt that McCain-Feingold was a bad piece of legislation, but looked at objectively, it is NOT one designed to limit freedom of speech. If you want to donate lots of money, set up a political committee. Sheesh. It's like how we don't let Westboro Baptist church demonstrate within 50m of a war funeral- it's common sense. No, it's a bad piece of legislation because it doesn't do what it's designed to do.

The Gang of 14 is truer to the spirit of the constitution than the nuclear option (The Judiciary is meant to be independent; that's why you want BIPARTISAN support from the senate in appointments).

And finally, Amnesty... why are you so angry with illegal immigrants that you're unwilling to ever back a candidate who makes a mistake and then decides that after reasoned debate, that they should change their policy? I am putting myself into a "Republican" mindset here; if the fence is a good idea, then why can't someone who disagrees with that idea but comes around to support it be not entitled to disagree in the first place?

Do you really think? 2

And just because I'm being completely fair to everyone, the vitriol against Mr Romney isn't that nice either:

1. Some variation of "oily."
2. Some attack on his religion.

There's even less stuff to talk about on his policies, so I won't go into it, but what I have seen seems to be that he's not "a real conservative."

Yes, like "conservative" consists of a set of policy checklists you must agree with. Not.

Do some of you who bleat the constant ad hominem attacks actually engage in reasoned, careful policy debate like you claim to, or are you just yelling because you're angry but aren't smart enough to articulate WHY you're angry?

Grow up. You should have grown out of this when you were 5.

Bravo, Wacky
You nailed it all with a flair, Joe!

You make excellence sense to me, a conservative braveheart offended by Rush, Sean and the radio mob.

But being a liberal : That's senseless as can be, in a free country. Is somebody holding your firstborn for ransom ?

Speaking of court nomimees,
Will McCain base his choices on conservative principles, or will he be trying to gain the approval of the libs and the NY Times?

Based on his past actions, it doesn't look good.

And a conservative judge would vote to overturn McCain-Feingold.....

Irony
It's funny that Rush is so hard on McCain for not being conservative.
But Rush never voted for Reagan!!! Wonder why?

McCain...
After reading Mr. Kemp's editorial, I've arrived at one conclusion; he (Kemp) like so many others have decided that fighting the war is sufficient.

There is one problem with Kemp's thesis:

The war against Islamofascism (and let's call it what it is, terror is a tool to advance an ideology. We're fighting for our survival against that ideology), because of the liberals efforts isn't merely fought on the battlefield. It's now being fought on four fronts; 1) The battlefield, 2) The courts, 3) The economy, and 4) The border.

1) goes without saying.

2) McCain has stated, recently that Roberts and Alito are now the benchmark for future Justices of the Supreme Court (and I hope for the Appelate Courts for that matter), but it begs the question; does "benchmark" mean that Roberts is ok, and Alito isn't? Recall that McCain stated uncategorically that he would have drawn the line at Alito because; "Alito wears his conservatism on his sleeve." Voting for another man's nominees is one thing, selecting those nominees is another entirely. McCain also was the first to line up to sue Wisconsin Right to Life in a McCain-Feingold case. After Roberts and Alito voted to find for WRtL, and rule that a significant portion of McCain-Feingold is unconstitutional, McCain was contemptuously silent about the decision as he was when the ban on partial birth abortion was upheld by those very same justices.

Wrong again Mr. Kemp.
To compare McCain to Churchill...please! There IS none, other than what you imagine in your head. To think that true conservatives will not be able to see behind the wool you are attempting to pull over our eyes is even more idiotic.

When I hear that leftists like Tina Fey are going to tell their friends they voted for Obama but really vote for McCain....I KNOW I will not vote for him for that very reason. And believe me, Fey is not the only leftist planning to do this. These are the ones that are too scared to put an outright socialist in the White House, so their choice is for a semi-socialist, one that leans further left than right.

Another thing, as
previous posts have mentioned, Kemp is a waterboy for the GOP elites, the same ones who would be happy to see the Republican Party become a party of jelloheads.

McCain Part Deux...
3) McCain has publicly admitted that he doesn't understand the economy its make up, etc., and more to the point, he's admitted that he's not concerned with it. Keeping this engine going is going require that we should open the oil shale fields in Colorado, Wyoming, and Utah, and as soon as possible. There isn't a reason to suffer the climate and geographic extremes that come with trying to open ANWR and the outer continental shelf. As it stands, we send over $400 billion dollars annually to the middle east, Nigeria, Mexico, and Venezuala for our oil (I don't worry about Canada). Amazing, all those countries that would love nothing better than to see us fall, and we're funding them in those efforts. Throw in the nonsense with the man-made global warming scam, and McCain has demonstrated that he doesn't have a clue in the importance of the economy in the overall war effort.

4) Voting for cloture on McCain-Kennedy and Dick "Turbin" Durbin's Wet Dream Act, shows McCain's leanings. Recently he's stated that border security is an overriding concern and that he would deal with it. When asked if M
McCain-Kennedy, in it's defeated form, came across his desk, in the event he becomes POTUS, McCain stated without reservation that he would sign it immediately. So it begs the question; what has John McCain learned about the American People and their desires for adherence to the rule of law, and that national sovereignty is actually very important to the survival and strengthening of this great nation?

The bottom line is, in the four fronts that this war has to be fought on, and the outcome of this war will indeed dictate the rest of the 21st century, McCain is very shaky, at best, on three of them.

Can someone recommend...
...the best tool for holding one's nose while casting a vote for Senator McCain? Clothespin? C-clamp? Cotton balls? An understanding spouse? See, I won't have a free hand to do the job, 'cause I need it to steady myself when I do the deed.

But do it I will, 'cause we must defeat Hill.

You know, if it was only about me, I'd sit this one out in hopes the Dems win and the nation witnesses the train wreck that is socialism. Thing is though, we have thousands of brave men and women serving us in Iraq and Afghanistan that cannot be forsaken. Disdain the Senator from Arizona if you will, but do not forsake our brave military.

Wacky Is Apt
Gotta love libs. I have no idea what religion McCain practices. I'm sure it's out there on the periphery of the debate, but I haven't heard anything about it. Of course, we have one of McCain's liberal friends write this -

"2. Some attack on his religion."

What attack?

This is why Repubs should be ashamed to have nominated a liberal. Not only do liberals lie with regularity, their lies aren't even very good.

To claim that McCain is under conservative attack for his religion is absurd. Lib weasley rhetoric is as predictable as McCain losing big to Clinton or Obama.

Leadman
Got family over there and I'll be voting for Obama if they let me.

I don't want my relatives putting their lives on the line so the rest of us are free to turn our country into a socialistic nightmare. Might as well bring the boys home until we wake up and revert back to our foundation of individual liberties and individual responsibilities.

Until then the country will continue to spiral downward towards the socialist cesspool. It's not worth one brave life to defend socialism.

McCain? Never.

SimJim...
I would be unkind, but I won't.

I was being nice to Mr Romney, because I said "Some attack on Mr ROMNEY's religion."

I sometimes wish I'd get an apology from you guys, but I suspect I never will. There is politeness, and there's being rude, and neither liberals nor conservatives own the patent rights on civility, as I have learnt.

Sim
I see your point clearly. I doubly respect your perpective; I am one who does not have the added burden of family members in harm's way.

Here's the but...I respectfully disagree that we are as far gone to the left as you say. I'm praying for revival and I believe we may see it in the 3 or 4 decades I may be allowed to remain here.

One more thing about McCain...
When he laughs, the first thing I think of is "Beavis and Butthead."

I'm sorry Mr Kemp
I know you were sent out to try to pacify the great unwashed masses here on the right, but John McCain couldn't carry Churchill's valise.

You want conservatives to vote for the presumprive nominee, you're going to have to do better than Juan Hernandez as "hispanic advisor"

Try getting some Real conservatives around the man. Pick Mitt Romney as the VP. Have him sign a contract that he Won't force amnesty on us and Enforce the Immigration laws, And rescind his ridiculous stance on the Gore-bull warming scam.

Maybe, just maybe I can then be convinced to back Sen. McCain.

John McCain
The "lion of the 21st century"?That's even a bigger joke than the Dole-Kemp ticket!

Polite vs. Rude
I'm very polite to Main Street libs. They are emotional creatures with good intentions, but don't take the time to the understand the consequences of their "niceness". These libs are my neighbors. They are the non-thinking libs.

Lib elites are a different story. They know history. They know the consequences. Yet they still choose to try and lead this country towards socialism. Rude is generous for thinking libs.

Are you a thinking lib or a non-thinking lib?

If you're a non-thinking lib, I apologize if my thinking offends you. If you're a thinking lib, you can go to hill.

Kemp The Sycophant
I just wanna hurl whenever I hear another McCain sycophant try to make us believe that the guy is really a conservative. If McCain is such a conservative why was his nomination endorsed by every liberal newspaper in the country? What do they know that Republicans don't know? I'll tell you what they know. They know that John McCain embraces all the issues that liberals cherish. Amnesty for illegals, a roll back of the Bush tax cuts, restrictions on free speech (McCain/Feingold), restrictions on gun ownership and last but not least, a soft spot in his heart for that babbling drunk and senior Senator from Massachusetts.

This election is a win/win for the liberals. Hillary, Obama or McCain. It doesn't matter. They're all the same. Which one of these bums, if elected President, will screw up the country the most? Who knows. But rest assured, that the sell-out John McCain is not going to be concerned with conservative issues.

Sim, re your post of 2000hrs
To quote a Main Street lib:

"WORD"

Seemingly opposite views are both right
Those who say McCain is not someone conservatives can count on are correct.

Those who promote the value of unity are correct too.

The big difference is a matter of timing.

There is no better time than now, the primaries, to break this maverick - if it can even be done. He and his Kumbaya backers are not going to listen to conservative complaints during the general election, certainly not with greater attention than now.

What is wrong with betrayed conservatives venting during this time which was designed for party-based venting? It's been a while since we've had no incumbent in the race so the it is open a bit wider than usual.

This is not the time to be bringing out the unity guns. In my estimation, the Kemp letter does more to damage his own reputation than it does to repair McCain's. Such sacrifice secure him Secretary of Rosy Analogy if nothing else.

The Churchill comparison is not flying either, Jack. The problem is that you can rarely predict and never guarantee who will be a brave leader in a crisis.

Who thought George would do so well in this regard? Not me. He's been steadfast in determination through relative highs and endless lows. He's triumphed politically with respect to the war on terror and recently in the current main theater - Iraq? He's been Churchillian to a degree.

Yes, I know, McCain politically supported the surge before there was a surge. As Martha would say, "that's a good thing." And, of all the candidates in both parties, he seems most likely to be better on defense issues.

But whether one will handle times of real crisis as did Winnie is not generally predictable without experience to guide us. And being a courageous prisoner is hardly the same thing as leading a battered nation to defeat the most deadly efficient and ingeniously evil war machine that the world had ever seen.

Leadman
I have no animus toward any conservative voting for McCain. I believe they are wrong, but I don't fault them for their optimism. I voted for GW the second time with the same misguided hope that he would change his stripes once he didn't have to worry about reelection.

I vowed during his 8 year spending spree that I wouldn't be fooled again by promises of conservatism wrapped up in liberal policies. McCain is more liberal than Bush...and I can't in good conscience vote for another liberal Republican.

I have given up hope that this country will make it all the way back to its foundation during my time here on earth. I'd like to be around to see the ship reverse course, but I don't expect I'll be here when we dock.

I do have children, and I have hope they will see the day when this country returns to its roots of individual rights, liberties and responsibilities. I feel rejection of McCain is the fastest route home.

McCain? Never. It's for my children.

One Rino praising another Rino
Why should I care?

BTW, what could McCain possibly SAY to get people like me to support him?

Butteblack is right
I do not believe McCain is a conservative and has my views on immigration, judges, economy, or tax code.
I am tired of the dribble coming from the "party regulars" like Jack Kemp telling us conservatives we must vote for McCain.

As I read from a posting a couple of weeks ago, I agree with something someone wrote: I am an American first, Conservative second, and Republican third. I did not vote for McCain in my state's primary and if he gets the nomination I will not vote for him in the election.

Protest but dont go insane
SimJim,

I agree with you and might yet vote for a hopeless conservative alternative come November.

I just pray most pissed off conservatives don't go the Ann Coulter route and actively support something worse than McCain - Hillary!

That would be a worse betrayal than any of McCain's.

Same Old Jack
Jack Kemp shows once again why he can't win a public office worth having, and can't even land a high profile appointment. He's just another political hack fronting for the career hacks in the Republican Party.

Let me make this clear for you, Mr. Kemp. John McCain is not Winston Churchill, he is Bob Dole. He is a tired, political retread who believes it's "his turn", with no real message, no real policy beyond getting elected, and nothing to offer beyond the occasional senior moment or a hissy fit for entertainment value.

That the Republican bench is so bereft of talent that this ancient has-been can mount another comeback is all the reason any true conservative needs to look elsewhere. If the best you have to offer is a guy who opposes our basic constitutional rights because he's afraid someone will bring up his true voting record, you are unworthy of the label "conservative" and your party deserves to lose.

Non-Thinking Libs
Since you like my non-thinking lib analogy Leadman, I'll share with you what I tell my children so they won't be rude to their liberal teachers.

20 kids in a class - Eight 'A' students who work hard for their grades. Two 'A' students who are teacher's pets and are given the grades. Eight 'F' students who don't work hard and disrupt everyone in class. Two 'F' students who have learning disabilities.

Non-thinking libs (most teachers) want to take a grade away from the hard working students and give them a 'B' and give all the 'F' students a 'C'. They claim that it is not fair because the 'A' student are lucky or priveleged. Some of the 'F' students are special needs and should be given a hand up. The teachers do not distinguish between the small minority of 'F' students who truly can't survive in school and the majority of 'F' students who can get an 'A' if they worked hard.

The teachers don't acknowledge the hard work of the majority of 'A' students. They dwell on the minority of 'A' students who benefit from being the teacher's pets. They convince everyone that all the 'A' students are pets.

I ask my children what would happen in a class that is run like this? Would the 'A' students continue to work as hard? What would happen to the overall performance of the class if 'F' students are rewarded and 'A' students are penalized.

My children immediately understand. Non-thinking libs are trying to be "nice". Thinking libs are trying to acquire power by victimizing the entire class. The dumber the class, the smarter the teacher.

haha Sim
Nice. But then I'm not sure what you consider "socialism" is actually socialism or not. You could move to Europe, where it's an issue of liberals vs. socialists, or down to Australia, your great ally, where it's a choice between the Labor Party and the liberals.

"Thinking" liberals (although I dispute that term; all people are thinking unless they're stupid) follow one of two main streams- negative liberalism (which to an American is Libertarianism of the Ron Paul kind) and positive liberalism, which, on the economic side, infuses the idea that people ought to be free from starvation and disease and other things like that. This is mainstream democratic party policy.

So you have healthcare insurance, state welfare, public transport, that sort of thing. Of course, I sorta tend toward a more free market side on things except those services and goods which are vital to society (power, water, in my country, telecommunications.) There are ways to incorporate the free market and the liberal ideals (Take a look at the Pharmaceutical Benefits Scheme in Australia, a happy compromise between big pharma and people who want cheap medicine.)

This is not socialism. Socialism is the state owned running of all aspects of the economy. Socialism requires the correct knowledge of the society so it can provide for it. Socialism puts controls upon things.

Maybe you think it's a difference of degree, but I think it is a difference of kind. A liberal government regulates to prevent abuse of a free market; a socialist government regulates to control BECAUSE IT MUST. A "laissez faire" government does not regulate at all, and although it is most efficient (and the smart benefit the most) it means people starve and are ill and live terrible, miserable lives.

That's sorta bad. We can argue on how to make sure everyone can do what they want to do, but in no way are liberals and conservatives akin to socialists and totalitarians.

Vote for Clinton?
I happen to believe that our country is full of "non-thinkers" who need to be poked in the ribs by another Carteresque catastrophe. Repubs warn us that this will be dangerous, and I agree, but keep in mind that establishing the foundation of this country was dangerous too.

I look upon our current situation similar to that faced by the Founding Fathers. They were a minority. The majority figured it was safer to to go along with King George. Rebellion was a dangerous path. They fought anyway. It was worth it.

Similarly, we can let socialism keep creeping along with more and more Americans falling victim to its charms while sacrificing their children's futures, or we can jolt the non-thinking awake. We can give them the biggest dose of socialism available and hope it is enough to make them gag out the whole darned thing.

Yes, it is a dangerous game to play, but I don't see any reasonable alternative considering the Repubs refuse to run anyone other than liberals.

All this said, I won't vote for Clinton. I just can't do it. I'm an Obama guy if the socialists give me the choice.

I Explained It
I can't help it if you don't understand.

The mere fact that you chose to pretend that I actually meant libs don't think is indicative of your lack of seriousness. To imply I meant they are vegetables is truly disingenuous.

Non-thinking obviously refers to the "nice" libs not putting any real thought into the consequences of the policies they support. Most decent parents understand that you reward good behavior and penalize bad behavior, but non-thinking libs don't apply the same principle to governance. If they thought, they would.

Thinking libs do know what results from their socialist policies. Call it regulation if you want, but if government fixes prices, then it has taken ownership for all intents and purposes (except when businesses inevitably fail, then government lays the blame with the business). Thinking libs know what works individual rights, liberties and responsibilities work, but they instead to empower government and not individuals.

Non-thinking libs think we can end starvation by feeding those who choose not to feed themselves. Thinking libs know government imposition results in greater starvation, but they don't care. Thinking libs will never starve. Let the rest eat cake.

Hypocritical?
Is it just me or does it seem entirely disingenuous for some Republicans to play the same political games with their elective vote or public endorsement as McCain has played with his legislative votes and increasingly hot air endorsements?

I mean, come on, is it the possibly minimally temporarily increased heat - or what? Are some of you so affected by climate change that voting for Hillary is no longer ranked just below bowing to the anti-Christ on your list of future big mistakes for which you’d rather avoid needing to answer?

And consider what might happen if you get the anti-Christ thing right but the Hillary thing wrong. You’ll have an eternity to regret your next to worst possible heresy. It might not be the unforgivable sin mentioned by Christ, but what if it turns out to be the unforgettable and unrepressible one?

The spite level of such a decision seems, to me, similar but worse than that of McCain when voting against tax cuts primarily (in my mind) for revenge because, despite getting out his biggest whacking stick in the prior presidentials, it was he that was beaten not the Bush.

I’ve heard that the devil sometimes wears “prada”. Now, I’ll admit I don’t know what the heck prada really is, but I’m starting to believe it includes a nice asset, a great set of wits, high heels, a short dress, blond hair, red lipstick and ... uh ... what was I talking about?

In other words, do Ann Coulter’s devilishly sweet ends really justify her blasphemous means?

Not to me.

No Gang of 14 million for me
I'm NOT voting Hillary.

I am not going to be part of some Gang of Fourteen Million that would join the enemy for this present cause based on the promise that our now strengthened foe will roll over dead in four years.

Also, I’d rather not give evil an excuse to revenge, next time around, by holding their collective nose and voting for Rudy. They might with similar coldness calculate that the means of briefly supporting the opposition party would be justified by the final ends of the pro-life factor.

Who’s to say Ann’s plan would even work? Mr. Hillary went TWO terms and, rather than punish liberalism for it, the nation came to regret passing the Twenty-second Amendment. And actually gave the succeeding liberal GoreKnob more votes than the winner.

Of course, if Ann could guarantee that after four years of Hillary we’d get eight years of somebody who would cut taxes and oppose international evil as did Reagan/Bush, fight moral decay like a southern preacher, dress as sharp as a northeast governor and strive for a return to original intent like some nut case with two first names, then it MIGHT be worth consideration.

Another comparison of McCain-Churchill
Mr. Kemp,

This has to be one of the most far reaching comparisons I've read in quite a while. To compare McCain to Churchill because they both left their party and are known as mavericks is ridiculous to say the least. Shall we consider another comparison between the two?

Churchill was patriotic and feared the potential ramification of a placating policy towards Hitler and his Nazi regime. He knew that a country had to stand strong against those who sought to invade and over-run his country and did all in his power to not only defend his country, but to develop the capability to be a major player in the invasion and liberating of other European nations.

McCain was no doubt patriotic during his younger years as a military man. I'm not convinced his patriotism remains intact. We know people can change (flip-flop) and I can't understand how a legal American can call McCain patriotic when he supports the amenesty of untold millions of illegal immigrants who are sucking the life blood out of our nation's economy. Illegal immigrants who instead of humbly asking for admission into the US so they can have a better life, parade in the streets demanding their 'rights'. McCain is no patriot like Churchill was. The comparison of the two men is a joke and your reputation as a logical thinking person and conservative writer comes into question when you attempt to fit this square peg into an extremely round hole. My time is precious to me; I don't think I'll be spending my precious time reading the garbage that's spewing from your pen in the future.

nonono
Let's be rational here. I did not mean for you to say that liberals don't think, and you know perfectly well I didn't mean that either.

Let's take your classroom example.

The liberal does NOT take the As from the top kids and gives their "grade" to the lowest. He lets the top kids go all the way they want, (free market), and for the lowest kid, he devotes more time and attention to make sure that at the very least he knows the material he's teaching and can get along.

As a result, he spends less resources on the smart kids. They don't need it; they're happy on their own!

Your conception is what LAZY TEACHERS do. I should know; I've spent time in a classroom. :D It's not quite apposite to the actual situation.

So what have you left? Which is the best way to run a society? I admit; the top kids don't get all the help they could get if it was purely "laissez faire." In your ideal conception, some people live horribly. Which is better? It's a genuine question capable of being argued on both side, and I admit that I may be wrong; but I think the liberal conception is better than the conservative one.

Some Options
I see a few options for myself.

One is to vote for the Constitution Party or Taxpayer Party or the I Pine For The Old Days Party or whatever other good-hearted, but perennially poor performing options that God’s Country (WI) offers me this time around. It would be a more morally acceptable means to get hold of Ann’s decidedly attractive ends. Electing Hillary doesn’t have to include voting for Hillary. And protesting to the right rather than to the left might shift the balance of the tally spinners and party planners in the only direction that would eventually achieve the desired result.

Another option is to say fifty Hail Marys, spend a night in the confessional, throw a whole salt lick over my shoulder, rub my Buddha belly, hold my nose, take a few valium, chug some whiskey, get electroshocked, blast Ted Nugent on my IPod and ...and ...and slowly semi-coherently squeeze the trigger for McCain. Then, either he loses anyway causing the big tent to hopefully shrink a bit in terms of acceptable doctrine. Or he barely wins and dooms us to the prophesied aisle-crossing hell. Or he wins big. Maybe with coattails long enough to drag even some less evolved lost elephants back to Congress. While you laugh try to remember New Hampshire and other near fatal shots that conventional wisdom has already taken this cycle. (Also remember all the drugs I just took before making this decision.)

The third option is to just not vote which, of course, would also help Hillary. But I’m too afraid either her victorious and vengeful party or McCain/FeinGold II would then codify the old notion that you can’t complain if you don’t vote. Then where would I be? In jail I assume.

Or, I could just kill myself to avoid this particularly difficult decision. But if I were of that mind then, instead of celebrating with the less-than-perfect but still NFC-oriented world champions as I am today, I would be in my grave cursing those dirty Packer-beating Giants.

Eagle 154
Great response to Mr. Kemp ("I don't think I'll be spending my precious time reading the garbage that's spewing from your pen in the future.")

It is too bad that the "send email to Mr. Kemp" is not available.

I love how Mr. Kemp begins with "fellow conservatives"...isn't that how McCain started his infamous lying CPAC speech? The one where he promised to be a conservative when he hasn't been one for hmmmm....ever? I wouldn't trust him in a minute, I wouldn't trust him period. His "maverick" label can work both ways...and for years it has gone only one way...liberal!
I would not trust him to change once he got nominated or elected. Not with the RINO and liberal endorsements for sure...who he will owe favors to if elected. He will also punish the conservatives who did not stand up for him....by being more liberal! True conservatives, the ones being admonished by Mr. Kemp, know this. And of course who knows what ClintonInc will do if McCain gets in the way of Hillary moving into the White House.

No, I will not vote for Hillary. I will not vote for McCain either. But I will write in Mitt Romney or leave that part of the ballot blank.

Open Letter to Jack Kemp's Open Orifice
Dear Mr. Kemp,
Jerry Falwell, in a personal conversation, once told me that his vision for the next decade in America was "8 years of George Bush followed by 8 years of Jack Kemp". Since he thought highly of you, though I don't necessarily think all that highly of Jerry, I am sorry to see you join the ranks of The Manchurian Candidate's Beeches.

But I am more offened by the particular fig leaf you have presumed to offer, that of "the man of destiny."

It offends me not JUST because you presume to compare McDemocrap with one of the Greatest Statesmen of the previous century, but because you presume to believe the rest of us are so IGNORANT or STUPID as to find the comparison anything BUT offensive!

At least Winnie had the guts to CHANGE parties--McBackstabber did not. At least Winnie REFUSED to compromise--he has several famous quotes on THAT issue--the McCompromiser was particularly adroit at compromising on THE MOST VITAL issues of National SAFETY where a Bulldog Churchillian STATESMAN was desperately needed. In this, he is positively Chameberlinelike!

At least Churchill realized Survival Required VICTORY ON EVERY FRONT. You offer us a General for the Eastern Front who has already Surrendered on the Southern and Homefronts.

I'd tell you where to stick it Jack, but Mac's got that occupied.

The Big Mick

Oh that was so cute, do it again.
Rush Sean Laura et al

Yes, when the liberal Giuliani was ahead in the polls, they were going to back anyone who got the Republican nomination. They just wanted to keep Hillster out of the Oval Office/and her husband too.

They were so cute balancing that little ball on their noses. Ar ar. Maybe they could do it again, or perhaps they are just too principled this time. Too bad. It was darling.

Options
I will keep saying this until the 012 election cycle. McSame is Socialism Lite--he just another step down the same road we have been herded down since the Gipper left office. That road has brought us to the Brink of Socialism.

What has all that compromise bought us? On what possible basis do you believe this compromise will buy us anything but more slow death?

The Slow Poison is the MORE Deadly; it accustoms its victim as we have been being accustomed, and it kills all the more surely for being slightly more slowly. That's ALL a McVote buys you. All.

You buy no hope for the Southern Front, already surrendered. You buy Souters and OConners, no Scalias, so the Home Front is Surrendered.
Does McFeingeld offer you ANY hope for LESS Government intrusion? Does McSame's oppostion to Tax Cuts offer you any reall hope for SMALLER government? Does his continuing compromise on THESE VITAL CONSERVATIVE issues offer you ANY hope that he will NOT CONTINUE that behavior?
Does uber commiequeer Kerry's VP offer a CONSERVATIVE any hope of CONSERVATIVE Government?

I think not.

Hillybama is Socialism Straight. With them there is at least the Hope that America will CHOKE on it and puke it up! There is NO such hope with McSame.

My option is Hillybama.

Just shut and vote, right Jack Kemp?
Talk radio, chill. Just shut up and vote for McCain. He's another Churchill. Don't ever lump Churchill in the same breath with John McCain. The two are totally different. Churchill was no Maverick in the same sense as McCain. Churchill was a great man for his time. You really distorted history by comparing McCain to Churchill. You not only shamed yourself with this open letter, but you have shame every Conservative in this country. The contents of this letter only proves you haven't any idea how it works with the listeners of talk radio. Talk radio issues no marching orders, but is used by it's listeners to voice their concerns. It's McCain's attitude, his character, and his bond with the Democrats which has gotten him in hot water with Conservatives. This appeal of McCain's wasn't uncovered overnight by talk radio to make life miserable for McCain. When a candidate says he is going to get the votes of those outside of his party for the Presidency and then tells the Conservatives to chill. That is not uniting the party. Only now is McCain brushing up on how to talk like a Republican where Republicans, Conservatives, and the Christian Right can understand. Before, he spoke only like the Maverick he's known for where only the moderates, the independents, and weak Democrats knew what he was doing. Sticking it to Republicans.

Out in the cold
I think we are about to be in the wilderness. Sadly I'm not surprised, the last 7 years has bankrupted our party through incompetence and greed. If you can't see that writing on the wall there will surely be a rude awakening on the way. I won't vote for a Dem, but I also won't vote for a panderer that I don't believe in. I'm not going to feel quilty either. Afterall I'll only be abandoning a party that abandoned me a long time ago. Ego and empty promises, no thanks

First they ignore you
Then they mock and laugh at you. Then they fight with you. And then you win. We all know who said that.

McCain has ignored us, McCain has mocked us, McCain has fought us...and now?

My biggest disappointment hasn't been McCain winning the nomination...or at least the presumed nominee; My disappointment is in all the solid conservatives who have so lost touch with their constituents that they actually think they can redefine what conservatism is and then tell us to swallow the big bad boogie-man (or in this case, the boogie-woman)routine. And then when that doesn't work they march out endorsements of other entrenched conservative sellouts and say, "See, even he says McCain is a real conservative." And when that doesn't work, they say, "Don't forget about the terrorists, McCain is Churchillian!"

Let me give you guys a clue. Rush and Levin would be welcome in my home at any time. I wouldn't urinate on you sellouts if you were on fire.

Oh, one more thing. I'd really appreciate it if you would keep Lindsey Graham off of my television. I'm not voting for McCain already, but if I have to look at that guy much more I may actually vote against every Republican in November.

Time for Separation then Divorce
"My fellow Conservatives" I have warned you to beware of Flying Fig Leaves, like Jackie's here.

At least he was Gentlemanly in his plea for us to join the rumpup line. I did warn you that these all would be oh so plausible. Until you thought it through. As in my letter above, Jackie's lame comparison piszes me off.

Greengeld's little diatribe is the REAL face of the Gilt Bird Cabin GOP (gahp or gohp). Note how the criticism and vituperation being directed at us is couched in EXACTLY the same terms the Commiequeers use!

I suggest the Record of the GOP toward Conservatives Since the Gipper Left office is one of Continual ABUSE! I believe we have been expected to enable their Drunken Origies of Power, earmarks, shamnesy, compromise after compromise on the same old road that has led us to the very Brink of Socialism. And when we have spoken up, we have been slapped down and verbally abused.

I consider this latest abuse by the Establishment Party Machine Bosses and their kept beeches here on TH and elsewhere, to be Grounds for Divorce. Serial Infidelity and Continual Abuse. That and incompatibility!

There is nothing in the Conservative Free GOP FOR Conservatives. Time to Walk, lads.

THEY will tell us, like abusers always do, that we have no place else to go, are nothing without them, and cannot make it on our own.

They, as abusers always are, are wrong.

Sim Jim
After eight years of Hillary or Obama, I'm sure your children will thank you, as will their children! You should also consider that if it is eight years of Hillary, eight years of Obama may follow.

Me, I'll vote for McCain with the hope that it will slow our progression toward socialism, until another Reagan comes along. I consider myself a strong conservative and I admit that McCain was not my preference for the GOP nominee, but in all honesty, neither was Romney.

Bottom line is that strong conservatives are not the loudest voice in the Republican party, not this time around at least. Yet we are forced to align with the GOP because they represent our view better than that of the Democratic party. I am certain that you will agree with the statement, Conservative first, Republican second.

I see the Republican party as the vehicle through which we are able to have a voice and we have a voice only to the extent that we work with the other factions that comprise the Republican party. As a separate entity we would lack any power to influence the future of this country. Yes, we can always get mad, take our marbles and go home, but that solves nothing.

(Continued)

Sim Jim Continued
The result would be most undesirable, in that it would hurt us, hurt our children, and hurt our country. Oh the revenge against the moderates of the party would be sweet no doubt, but I would rather have a voice than be relegated to the fringes of a party that will wander in the wilderness for many years to come.

My position is that I will do all that I can to slow the leftward progression until such time as we can elect a president that will make us proud. We should remember next time around that as Conservatives we did not unite behind a candidate, until it was too late. Even then, many disagreed as to the perceived conservative credentials of that candidate.

Nevertheless, the moral is that there is no one to blame but ourselves, yet many are ready to sink the ship rather than unite behind the last man standing. We can point the finger, we can jump up and down, we can rant and rave, but it proves nothing beyond a feckless principled stance. I cannot argue with any conviction that McCain will be as bad as Hillary or Obama, so I don't think it principled for me to assist in electing either of them, even if by default.

We should remember that wars are not won in one defining battle. Many battles are fought, some with success and likely a few that require retreat. Some retreats end in surrender, many are a means to regroup for the next battle. I choose to see this election cycle as a battle in the bigger war that we are waging for the heart and soul of this country.

So, we can wave the white flag and surrender to the left or we can support the nominee left standing, so we may fight another day.

John Mccain the moderate
When i hear Mccain call himself a conservative i want to upchuck he has spent the last 8 yrs provoking conservatives and kissing liberal butt .. no way is Mccain a conservative at best he is a moderate.Rush , laura . Mark. and Shaun have him pegged.Mr Kemp and others have lost their way as they try to make a stuffed duck look like a Christmas turkey. i can tell the difference and cannot as a conservative ever support him.

Sgt Don has it!
You kept bringing up our children.

Sometimes I think some of the pundits have not been properly broken in (by children).

Thank you for your amazing post.

"IF YOU DON'T VOTE
FOR THE REP. NOMINEE, YOU ARE RESPONSIBLE FOR THE DEM. DICTATORSHIP WE'LL ALL SUFFER W/HILL OR BARACK."

So shouts one supporter of McCain.

Sorry, I don't buy into that argument. Unless the Rep. Party nominates a true conservative, the Rep. Party is responsible for Dem. dictatorship.

Still time to fight agains Amnesty
Vote against McCain while you still can if you want to stop Amnesty for 12 to 20 million POOR illegal invaders who will get the right to vote for DEMOCRATS.

Say goodby to ANY future Conservative Presidents or Conservative Congress for the rest of your LIFETIMES!

Vote Huckabee, he signed the NumbersUSA NO Amnesty pledge.

McCain has said he will sign McCain/Kennedy Amnesty if the bill crosses his desk.

Robert predicted Huckabee would not win
Robert predicted Huckabee would not win any primaries before this last weekend proved him wrong again and again and again and again and again and again and again and again and again and again and again and again and again.

McCain No Churchill BUT...
I agree that McCain is no Churchill. Nevertheless, Kemp has a point. For conservatives who would rather see (most) of our viewpoints represented, a McCain presidency would be FAR better than a Billary co-presidency or, heaven forbid, an Obamese ultra-liberal presidency.

Yes, folks, it has come to that. It's a case of McCain being the lesser of two evils. I'm a big Romney supporter, but I'm prepared to vote for McCain over any Democrat. The thought of another Democrat in office with a blank check from a Democrat Congress and Senate is enough to keep me up at night. This is even more critical considering the judicial seats likely to be open. Please join in supporting Senator John McCain as our nominee. MEMO TO MCCAIN: PLEASE DON'T MAKE THIS ANY HARDER BY ASKING HUCK TO BE YOUR VP. CHOOSE SOMEONE ELSE PLEASE, A YOUNG, ENERGETIC, AND ARTICULATE RUNNING MATE (MITT?).

An open letter to McCain supporters
Congratulations, you've arrived. But remember, soberly, how you got here. It's not on McCain's 82% ACU rating, it's not because of McCain-Feingold, McCain-Lieberman, or McCain-McCain. No one could have predicted this...it was a combination of open primaries, independents, a divided conservative field, that started with Gov Crist, a 3% slim lead over Romney, and a media that paved the way to their self-fulfilling prophecy.

Don't mistake that as a mandate for conservatives to 'calm down' and move to the center. Don't take that as an indication that Sean, Rush, Laura and co should tone down their rhetoric--they're the voice of the backbone that holds the party together.

Don't condescend, drop the arrogance, win back the base, and figure out how to deal with Obama. But DON'T tell us to calm down. Give us a reason to get fired up, because the dems sure are.

I Appreciate
I appreciate your perspective Don, and I've been down the road of picking the best of a bad lot. That's why I voted for GW. My rewards? McCain.

I read one comment that I believe is spot on. When conservatives concede ground, Repubs shift a little bit more left every time. This is the slow march to socialism that The Big Mick so vividly describes.

Sorry, but I am not only conservative first, I am conservative only. I have no party and want no party. If I chose a party I might feel vote for an acceptable candidate such as McCain for the wrong reasons.

McCain may deserve the vote of Republicans, but I he has consistently bashed conservative principle. I see no benefit to my children in supporting the steady erosion of our society. I'd prefer a landslide so we can start digging out the survivors.

I harbor no resentment toward Republicans who vote the party line. I won't be joining you this time around.

Paper Tiger Conservative

What is a Paper Tiger Conservative?

A Paper Tiger Conservative is someone who is not a conservative.

The term is used to describe an action that attempts to disguise their own liberal shortcomings with conservative talking points. By not upholding the principles of small government, individual liberties, and strong national defense. This individual is also liable to switch positions frequently on the same issue. A key element uses a projecting of their own behaviors on those around them to confuse the issue. They seek the status of equal and the benefits of a victim. They are both the ying and sudo-yang of our party. They call for balance from the outside and cause destruction from within. While they oppose the party platform they seek praise from the opposition. They call this a compromise, they call it bi-partisan. The blood letting Tiger seeks to ensnare the ignorant and weaker in knowledge. Its' predatorial instincts allow it to veil failure seizing the right opportunity to change the subject. This person would make a grade A democrat except the one thing they lack is positive popularity. They are really the misfit liberal whose life is devoted to the quest of being accepted by those it looks up to the left.

AKA: JOHN SMITH MCCAIN

One of My Political Heroes was Jack Kemp
Dear Mr. Kemp:
It's a sad day that I have to write this letter.
You were one of my political heroes when I was a Young Republican. You believed in limited government, you were a former football player, you were a Republican, and you believed in cutting taxes.

You were the kind of Republican that made me yearn for the day Republicans would win the U.S. House of Represenitives and have the gavel.

But you have forsaken tax cutting for amnesty and an immigration surge. You have forgotten your middle class roots to shill for your clients that want Cheap Labor.

McCain is Reagan.
McCain is Goldwater.
McCain is a principled Conservative.
Now you have the gall to say McCain is Churchill?

I guess you "keep throwing mud at the wall until something sticks."

Have you no shame. You come across like the grasping old man you are pushing on us -- like a corner drug pusher. Or the p!mp soliciting for his whore.

When will the elite McCain backers stop making absurd analogies to great men of principle?

John McCain's only principle is John McCain.

Please don't keep insulting Conservative's intelligence.

I'm past opposing McCain
I actually think we are better off actively trying to defeat a McCain Presidency. If you conclude that the Democrats are going to expand their margins in the House and Senate then you might also conclude that liberalism is going to be advanced no matter who wins the Presidency.

The question that we might be asking ourselves is whether we want a Republican who will instantly carry the label "conservative" shouldering the blame for the disasters that will follow?

Our best shot at surviving to fight another day is by not being the scapegoat for the disasters. The party out of power always reverts to opposing the majority while a shared power structure would encourage our Congressman and Senators to accommodate McCain in his desire to advance liberal causes instead of fighting them.

We do conservatism no good by having our party leader championing liberal causes. He becomes the face of conservatism, the voice of conservatism and helps to define what conservatism is to the population at large.

Is it possible that our wisest course of action is to vote for Hillary? I'm certainly not seeing the case for letting McCain define conservatism to the American public. Bush has done enough damage in that regard by being such a poor standard bearer for what being a conservative means.

We win or lose based on appeals to reason and we put ourselves behind the eight ball when we allow non conservatives to define what conservatism is...or even appears to be to the unlearned.

In any scenario, McCain isn't a wise choice.

you are really scaring me....
..... comparing McCain to Churchill.

His campaign was broke. If not for the help of the MSM, McCain would've been long gone. Imagine if Mitt Romney had had the support of the MSM and all the talk shows, he probably wouldn't have had to spend his own money.

I hope Rush, Sean, Ann, Laura and Mark keep talking because I'm listening to them.

Party Politics over Principle
Have a plate full of this gobbledygook...
You central government Republocrats kill me.

I will write-in my vote for POTUS. I won't abstain from voting but
I won't vote for a Demopublican either. I don't want to see the
vote percentage above 50% for a Socialist Democrat like Hillary.

It will just give them the idea they have a mandate.
It is time to read and re-read your copy of the Declaration of Independence and realize that the founders had far less to revolt against the King of England than the people of the several states have to revolt against this liberal fascist state we live in today.

Throw off the shackles of Government Tyranny or hope and pray the
Mayan calendar is as accurate as your GPS clock. December 21, 2012...
Time's up...

Wake up America! Socialism is a failure and it is about to ruin your life sooner than you think.

Alan
What a shame to compair McShame to Churchhill! Anything to get the White House and destroy this Great Country. As I said before if the slow death march to Peoples Republic of North America is all ready on so if McShame takes the White House it will only prolong the march. So let's elect Hill n Bill or BHO. This way the silent majority will speak out and speak out using the Right Keep Arms and remove the out of control government and replace it with a NEW ONE! Maybe even restore the orginal. I have no desire to have chains around my neck and lick the hands of those who bought their way into POWER and SOLD US OUT just like he will!!!

McCain
I will vote for McCain by default, but your analogy is absurb and somewhat insulting.

Brokered Convention
Brokered Convention = Mitt Romney decides between John McCain and Mike Huckabee after he has a long discussion about what it means to be a Conservative Republican.

1) A Brokered Convention gives conservatives a voice. A Brokered Convention gives Mitt Romney a voice. A Brokered Convention gives Mike Huckabee a voice. A Brokered Convention keeps media attention on the Republican party for the next 6 months for free! If we just roll over and go to sleep only John McCain will have a voice and the media will almost solely focus on the Democratic contest.

2) Republican Brokered Conventions result in wins!

Abraham Lincoln – 3rd Ballot - Won Presidency
Rutherford Hayes – 7th Ballot - Won Presidency
James Garfield - 36th Ballot - Won Presidency
Warning Harding – 10th Ballot – Won Presidency
Dwight D. Eisenhower – “2nd Ballot” – Won Presidency

3) McCain has to win 472 more delegates (45% of remaining delegates) to secure the nomination. Huckabee needs 576 delegates (55% of remaining delegates) to force a Brokered Convention.

4) On Super Tuesday McCain got 42% of the vote in Blue States and only 26% in Red States. Over 60% of McCain’s delegates have come from Blue States. Do we really want our candidate picked by States that we have very little chance of winning in the Fall?

5) 71% of the remaining delegates are from Red States. There are not enough Blue State delegates left to put McCain over the top. If we unite we can force this to a Brokered Convention.

6) Mitt asked Huckabee to drop out and for conservatives to unite behind him. For the sake of conservatives please support a Brokered Convention and encourage Mitt’s supporters to back Huckabee.

7) Conservatives Unite! There is still time! Win the Red States and we go to the convention for a discussion about what it means to be a Republican.

Hope this brings encouragement and hope. Spread the word. It is not over!

open letter to jack kemp
One thing that separates the majority of Republicans from Democrats is that we are not mesmerized rats led by the music the elite Pied Pipers have chosen for us. I am conservative...Senator McCain is not, regardless of his current rhetoric. I do not trust him to nominate conservative judges to the high court. I do not trust him to secure the borders of our nation. His idea of working with the left is to give in to them...that is not "working with" that is acquiescing. Since I am not a goose stepping liberal democrat I will not fall into line and vote for Senator McCain. So please Jack Kemp, (and any other Republican Party Elite that feel the need to reign in Rush, Ann, and Sean) I advise you to think twice and do not bastardize our party by dressing Senator McCain up as a conservative. If you take God, morals, family values, honesty, and decency from the Republican Party it will no longer exist...it will have become the Democrat Party.

I'm getting really sick...
of GOP insiders talking to and about the conservative base as if we are temperamental children.

We don't have anger issues, McCain does. We have long memories and a resolve to move the Republican Party back to the right where it belongs.

Like, Churchill, McCain had his moment. That "moment" was his time as a prisoner of war in Hanoi. Ever since then, he has slowly, but steadily compromised and diminished himself from hero to hack politician.

Why are all McCainiacs so old? Pt 1
Have any of you noticed that most of the McCain supporters are old? Most of these people supporting McCain and co-incidently supporting the open borders amnesty policy are generally old people who are financially settled till the day they die, which is not so far into the future that any real stupid policy is going to affect their lives much. I would say their average age is about 65 to 70. These people are not real players in the future. They are done. The future they are screwing up is not going to be theirs, it’s going to be dumped on their kids and grandkids and I don’t believe for one second that they are considering that.

My mother is raising my nephew in Tucson and had to take him out of school because it was over run with violent Mexican kids who constantly beat him up because he was the only gringo in his class. As my mother dis-enrolled him from school and walked him out the building, those little mexican bastards where mocking him as they walked away, shouting “Vamanos gringo!” and other insults. That kid was twelve when that happened and he has already told me he will hate mexicans for the rest of his life. What am I supposed to tell him? A week and a half ago, a friend of mine was killed by an illegal doing a u-turn on a boulevard. Last Friday, I woke up to the local news on the radio, in LESS THAN ONE HOUR, three people were hit and killed in three different accidents! We have hit and runs almost every single day here! And I’m only mentioning the driving.

Why are all McCainiacs so old? Pt 2
I have seen U-haul after U-haul pack up a friend of mine and move out of the state because they can’t afford to live here anymore. When mexicans come here, they don’t mind living in the canyons in camps, (where they frequently start brush fires), or in a clown house with 20 people in it. They can live on a fourth of the pay. They run around with no ID so if they get picked up by the police and they have a felony warrant, all they do is give another name. Since the cops don’t have any way of verifying who they are, they walk!

There are so many instances of proof how these illegals are costing us millions in education, (which we can’t even use anymore in some cases), health care, (which is closing emergency rooms all around SoCal), welfare (they can and do scam the system for every dollar they can get, including section 8 housing), and the violence associated with the gangs and drugs, I just have to think people are out of their minds to want to bring in another 40 or 50 million over the next ten years, (which is exactly what McCain wants to do).

A huge part of the subprime mess was because the congress and El Jorge went to the banking industry and pushed them to lower the standards to borrow money. In other words, “No Doc” loans for “No Doc” people. I know many people working in the industry here who saw ten to fifteen Hispanic names on one mortgage. And why wouldn’t they take they money, did they really lose anything to take out an equity loan and buy a new hummer before they walked away from the house?? And BofA, advertising that they want to give credit cards to illegals! Now, they are doubling the interest rate on a lot of their dependable customers who pay their bills on time! Could it be that people are running up bills and walking away to another identity? What an amazingly stupid idea that was? Why wouldn’t the illegals take free money?

Why are all McCainiacs so old? Pt 3
My whole point here is that if you don’t have the rule of law, you have chaos. We are being invaded by a bunch of people who wipe their butt with our flag and hate our guts. If you go down to mexico, you will see the America of the future, laws mean nothing, the good ol boy bribery, corruption, way of life is the norm. The mexicans are pushing people out everywhere they go, (ask the blacks in LA) and running up the mexican flag laughing their butt off at how stupid we are. I will never vote for the treasonous SOB McCain as long as I live. The GOP establishment is so out of touch with Americans that it is truly sad. The fact is that as much as they dis the idea of a North American Union, their actions show that that is exactly what they are doing. And why, so some rich bastards can make a few more bucks! They are damned traitors, every one!

Jack adds his voice to the echoes
I voted for you Jack more than once, but now I'm older and wiser. I still like you, I think you're fairly conservative - but you are not writing or speaking like real leader.

John McCain is nowhere near Churchill in any way, except that he is closer to Churchill's age than any other candidate.

Real leadership requires courage, making tough decisions between what's right and what's expedient, it requires good judgement. Real leadership is character in motion, it stands upon principle and in doing so it inspires others to do likewise. Trust makes or breaks a leader - John McCain betrayed conservatives trust and he does not represent conservatives, so how can he inspire conservatives? John McCain inspires the Media and the Left! The more he tries to win conservatives for the sake of expediency now, the more he compromises his ability to inspire. His lack of judgement, and lack of moral clarity on core principles has led him to compromise too many times, and now a host of like-minded Republican leaders like yourself have followed him into a no-win situation. Sucks doesn't it?

I'm afraid that you have joined the chorus of echoes - echoes by definition do not lead they follow. The MSM media and the left, have been leading McCain for years. To follow McCain at this point when there is still another clear, principled choice that conservatives can make, is to compromise principle for expediency, and to follow the voices of liberals rather than to lead the cause of conservatism.

Here is speech by a candidate who stands on principle and in doing so, his character also inspires the kind of trust that makes a real leader:

The Hundred-Years' War
Vote for McCain, that's what you'll get.

Endless war, to no discernible purpose.

Of course, Jack "Roy's Toyboy" Kemp will profit.

You will not.

Tell us about that ski lodge, Jack.
