Will the Dems' health care Christmas Present to America be an improvement or detriment to our health care system?

Sarah Palin keeps collecting admirers. Her interview with ABC News Charles Gibson has added another legion, and that number is growing as the recognition spreads that the editing done to the interview was deeply deceptive of its overall impression --even stronger than what came through on the broadcast version--and that Gibson unfairly mangled a quote of hers. Media elites are clucking that Palin didn't instantly define the "Bush Doctrine" to the level of detail demanded by (their) judges, but another vast audience watched another attempt to diminish her and has responded with an even greater enthusiasm for the Alaska governor.

Manhattan-Beltway media elites are very slow to recognize anything completely new. This is why prior to 9/11 they were in the dark about Islamist extremism. It is why prior to $4 a gallon gas, they had never anticipated a huge majority of Americans would demand offshore drilling.

And it is why they still don't understand the Palin Breakout.

Since the day John McCain selected Palin as his running mate, I have spoken with only women callers to my radio show. For the past week I have limited callers to those who are calling a radio show for the very first time. All the lines have been filled every hour of every day. Caller after caller wants to discuss their affection for Sarah, their willingness to work for her and contribute to the RNC and to share stories of like-minded women in their families and among their friends.

Each new attack on Palin brings increased enthusiasm for her. Take, for example, the astonishing report from by Los Angeles Times reporter Andrew Malcolm that a "senior Canadian doctor is now expressing concerns that such a prominent public role model as the governor of Alaska and potential vice president of the United States completing a down syndrome pregnancy may prompt other women to make the same decision against abortion because of that genetic abnormality. And thereby reduce the number of abortions." This is just one of many brazen attacks on the decisions of Sarah and Todd Palin on how to raise and care for their family. Nothing remotely like it has ever been seen in modern politics, and the disgust level is growing as a result.

One battalion in the Army of Sarahs that is gathering are the parents of special needs children, and this is a large group. Add to it all the people whose lives have been touched by such children and their families and you have the sort of hidden force in politics that can shape outcomes. Recently, for example, I received an e-mail from a pediatric anesthesiologist, reacting to attention focused on Trig Palin:

I was not going to bother you but yesterday, I was at our supermarket where my bags were packed by a Downs young man. He is pleasant, makes you feel welcome, does a great job packing the groceries and is proud of what he is doing. He is earning a wage, a helpful member of society and makes us all better for being there. I commend Genuardi (our supermarket) for employing him.

If you have a minute I would like tell you a little story. For whatever reason, I had a fair number of parents with Downs children who would ask me to anesthetize their children, one in particular is still deep in my memory: a little darling and sweet little Downs boy (I can't remember the age) was anesthetized by me for a minor surgical procedure everything went very well and after taking to the PACU (post-anesthesia care unit) I went to speak the parents. After all the question were answered, the mother asked if there was any way his older brother could see him. He had purposely come from college to see his brother and had to go back. (At the time parents or family members were not allowed to go into PACU. I went back to the all powerful and wonderful nurses, and to make a long story shorter, the brother was allowed to come in. As the nurses and I looked back there was big brother on the stretcher with little brother in his arms. No more pain medication was needed for a child that was now comforted by the love of his brother. It made our day, For those of us who may not think Downs are special think again. All children are special. Children with disabilities are remarkably so, and their parents are greatly admired by all decent Americans.

Except, it seems, by sneering media and medical elites.

The Great Snarl that has arisen and is directed at Sarah Palin has registered at a very deep level outside of the coastal elites. I know because I talk with people in the midwest and south every day, as well as in the suburbs of Atlanta, near the Rockies, in the smaller towns of Minnesota. They love Sarah Palin, and now they are increasingly angry with the MSM and especially with Obama and his campaign operatives.

These people hear the attacks on Palin and understand them --rightly-- to be attacks on themselves and their families. The dismissal they hear from studio talking heads are directed not just at Sarah Palin's life experiences, but at theirs. The contempt American media elites feel for their viewers has never been so sharply on display.

This is not an objection to asking Palin tough questions. I don't think there is a serious objection to Charlie Gibson's tone or subject matter when he sat down with Palin. She answered all of his many questions with hardly a stumble, as opposed to Obumble's repeated pratfalls in debates past.

But there is resentment that after a year-and-a-half there is not one interview of Obama --who wants the top job not the understudy role-- remotely as tough, with sustained lines of questions on sensitive issues of foreign affairs peppered with probing interruptions. Not one. Obama has always been allowed to filibuster, and every interviewer has retreated from attacks that have put Obama on the defensive. The cowing of the MSM by the left-wing bloggers is complete, and they know better than to push The One very hard.

That's just the way it is with a deeply-biased, almost openly partisan MSM, but a very, very media-savvy American public knows exactly what is going on. The voters' distaste for the great prop-up of Obama showed itself first in the late primaries where Hillary racked up win after win and now in the sudden shift of independents towards McCain-Palin.

Last week I wrote about Palin's appeal across the anti-freeze states. That appeal has since deepened, and the rallies are huge and growing wherever she travels. Americans like her, and dismiss the idea that she's not ready to be vice-president when the obviously unprepared whisp of a resume that is Obama is the nominee of the Democrats.

The MSM is clueless, and the Army of Sarahs is growing.

Chris Burke - aka "Corky" Life Goes On
Has anyone asked Chris Burke what he thinks of this? I remembered him from that show and just did a little research. He has Down Syndrome and is 43 years old and has a music band. I think it is just awful these folks who think every minor "imperfection" should result in abortion. I wonder if these folks would have the guts to walk up to someone like Chris or when he is older Trig and tell them they should be dead. Because that is what they are saying. Most of these Liberals are not nice people at all. Oh and leave Trig to Sarah and her family. The lefties should be sending money to George Obama because he looks like he could used a little of the love and care Trig is already getting.

well said, Hugh
This unfolding is magnificent on soo many levels. Error is error and by nature of Truth, it has to be so seen.

"There is nothing that is hidden that shall not be revealed." Whether little humans see or not, this is a law as much as 2+2=4. It just sometimes doesn't come in the way we wish it to.

But, anyone objective must see the sublime nature of how the untruths are being challenged. Real womanhood, the bias of the media, the scourge of disgarding human life, the myth that only the rich and powerful can rise in America.

God's hand is breath-taking.

Palin Interview
Just watched a little of the interview and thought Palin held up well, but...

I wish that she was a little more forceful when asked about attacking into Pakistan, or about the Israeli's attacking Iran. I think the MSM thinks that we are playing kids games where you can call time out or run to home before you get caught.

This is the real world and giving our enemies a safe haven is signing a death warrant for our own soldiers and allies. I do not think we breach another nations soveriegnty lightly, we have a right to protect ourselves and our allies.

We need to stop playing games and start shooting back at journalists. Wouldn't it be refreshing if in response to Gibson's question, Palin had shot back, "What do you think this is, a kids game? There is no safe place for terrorists to hide!"

Parents with children who are disabled
I agree with your article and I found the most powerful moment in Sarah Palin's convention speech, probably the most powerful moment I have heard in any convention speech, was her promise of advocacy for parents who have children who are disabled. I have talked to parents of children who are disabled since then, and they all reported they cried when she made that statement. I have not yet heard anything from Sarah that I disagree with and I am amazed that we are going to have the opportunity to vote for this amazing woman.

Reaction by Left to Palin's Interview.
I saw Ellis Henighan(sp?) on Fox and Friends this morning. He was all twitterpated that Sarah couldn't recite, vebatim, the Bush doctrine. I wonder, when Bill Clinton was running for President, being the governor of a small land locked state in the middle of the continent, if he was ever asked if he could recite verbatim the elder Bush's doctrine at the time. I seriously doubt it. And what about Barack Obama saying he'd let the UN security council deal with Russia's invasion of Georgia when Russia has veto power on the UN Security Council. I sense the desperation as they reach for anything they can to hold back the McCain/Palin momentum. Look for a Sarah vs. Hillary race in 2012. McCain won't run again, and if Obama goes down, the dems will have to put Hillary up against Sarah.

Trying their best to trip her...
More on Charlie Gibson's gaffe:

Also Powerline sums things up with this:

To borrow a Lincolnian formulation in honor of the Lincolnian formulation of Palin's prayer: the difference between what Palin actually said and what Gibson quoted her as saying is akin to the difference between a horse chestnut and a chestnut horse. The distinction may nevertheless be too subtle for Gibson. Gibson got it wrong. He should be embarrassed.

Palin Interview
I haven't been able to see the full interview, but did watch the edited version on Nightline.

I was amazed at the utter condescension in Gibson's voice as he questioned Palin. He came across as a know-it-all and had no patience for Palin or Palin's answers, seeming to mock her after each response. I believe he spoke to her with contempt, possibly showing his bias against conservative republicans or women. Gibson sounded like a person annoyed that he was passed over for the vice presidency position. Another sure sign of his disdain is when asking Palin questions he rarely looked her in the eye or kept his eyes closed.

I am not a woman, but if this seemed offensive to me as a man I would imagine the tone of this interview didn't resonate very well with women.

Sarah was clearly uncomfortable talking
foreign policy with Charlie Gibson. She is not in her element when talking about Iran and Israel and Georgia and Russia.

She had that "recently coached" sound in her voice. She looked like a moose caught in headlights. I see her becoming a liability in the coming weeks (somebody needs to tell her to STOP SAYING that being able to merely "see" Russia from Alaska means you have foreign policy).

Lou Dobbs Defends Sarah
I thought this passage interesting:

[Dobbs] attacked the media as biased, in both the way it reports the news as well as the choices of stories they choose to publish. Dobbs says that the Sarah Palin nomination demonstrated this beyond any doubt. She was “savaged” by the media, including “intelligentsia” like Matt Damon and Whoopi Goldberg. Keith Olbermann is hanging by a “seriously medicated thread,” and told the audience that after Olbermann went after Dobbs’ children, he’d like to get him in a room alone for a … frank exchange of ideas.

I wonder if Dobbs is trying for “Worst Person In The World” tonight?

http://hotair.com/archives/2008/09/12/frc-action-summit-lou -dobbs/

"Bush Doctrine"
Isn't the "Bush Doctrine" a term created by the media? How would anyone know what its definition is with certainty? I don't recall President Bush making a speech where he actually defined a set of principles and then saying: "... and this my fellow americans is The Bush Doctrine.".

I found nothing wrong with Sarah's

responses to Gibson's questions on foreign policy. They sounded reasoned, well-thought out and mature. They displayed a good command of the facts.

Double standard
The left is really grasping at straws. Pleeaaase keep it up.

The condescending Gibson (boy, I could have just slapped those glasses right off of his face) was arrogant. He gave me the impression
interviewing the "lipsticked pig" was beneath him.

He seems perturbed Sarah didn't understand the the Bush Doctrine the way he thought she should. The women didn't even know she was in the race 3 weeks ago. Yet the MSM are supporting a clown that thinks we have 57 states, and errrr...ummmmmm...wait a minute...couldn't put a cogent sentence together if his life depended on it.

Populist rise of Sarah
Sarah Palin is will bring a fresh voice and perspective to Washington politics. She has risen on her own with populist support. Don't underestimate her abilities, especially her ability to see and understand a situation clearly. Her reform agenda is comes from the heart and is part of her core values. I believe she is the right person for the job. We need her type in Washington and in politics in general. Lincoln was just such a populist candidate, despised by the political elite of his time, but no one can deny he was the right person at the right time.

MSM & Dems completely missing the point
The reality is that these guys don't have a clue what the American people want. Instead, the MSM and Dems are trying to tell us what we want, how to think, how to vote, etc. It must be completely aggravating to them that we just don't follow their commands! LOL

We want representation in office... not some airbag that promises a world of lies to get elected. The American people want a REAL home-grown American in office, one that understands them and will work hard for them. Sarah is that person. I beleive that if she finds herself behind the "8 ball", she would wrok hard to overcome any deficiencies she might have in that arena. I do not feel the same about Obama- I think he would simply try to lie his way through it, as he has done on several occasions throughout his campaign.

How many people can claim experience at a job they've never held? The answer is NONE, you nitwit media people. There is always a learning curve involved. These elections are held on potential, except where incumbency exists. And only then, experience does count, since many do get re-elected.

Tell your family, friends, neighbors
... this election will be about TURNOUT.

Vote, vote, vote. Get everyone you know out to vote. No one gets to stay home and sulk. Not this time, folks.

Sarah's army.
I, and most of my friends are those people who just like Sarah, the MSM don't get. I am proud to be a high private in the rear ranks of Sarah's Army.

We have seen the enemy and they are the MSM and ultra elitist coasters.

Semper Fi America

Gunny J

Where is Michelle?
I saw Cindy McCain at the WTC memorial yesterday. Where was Michelle Obama? Doing something more important? Or was she there and I just missed her?

damn... no more survival of the fittest
great! so now i'm totally pro-life. even for disabled birth. now i can't pick n choose out of a baby menu form. that's just great! now i have to learn to love whatever may come my way. GREAT! what humility! what force of love, nurturing, caring, and openness i must live the rest of my life.

thanks hewit! sarah! pro-lifers! christians! I'm so mad! love is filling my heart! ugggh!

It's no secret
The elite in this country want all us peasants to follow them.

In hollywood, where prositutes, druggies, rehab attendees & those like Sean Penn who border on treason are paraded before teens(tv &etc,) & tell them this what you are supposed to be.

In the elite MSM, the professors & others of their stripe tell us what we are to believe.

Sarah's Army
I am disgusted with the MSM. Not only do they not "get it" but they "distort it." Part of the problem here is that for many years now the 60's women tried to convince everyone that they couldn't be women at the top if they had to mother children and be a dedicated spouse for more than a couple years. Sarah, has proven them wrong. She did not sacrifice her children, her husband, her God or her morals and she still governs energetically and with grace. There were a lot of us Sarah's out there in the 60's standing in our homes wondering why we should feel like victims and that we couldn't dream higher because we had to choose between family and career. Sarah...you go girl. You are upsetting the "victims" of the 60's. We are getting older now and if we use Hillary Clinton as an example she waited until she was nearly 60 to crack that ceiling. Sarah...44 has been cracking ceilings all of her adult life and can still turn around and see her loving family at her side. Thank you Sarah for a breath of fresh air!

AGREE 100%
Hugh Hewitt has verbalized everything I think. I am a pro-choice, professional, Washington DC female and mom, and I have never felt such affection for a political candidate as I feel for Sarah. And, every time I see a schmuck like Charles Gibson treat her disrespectfully, I send the GOP more money.

Conservatives are hypocrites
It's amusing that conservatives keep whining like babies about the criticism of Rock Star Sarah. They weren't too concerned about the equivalent "sexist" remarks toward Hillary Clinton.

Watch the hypocrisy for yourselves. It's hilarious. But also pathetic:

http://www.thedailyshow.com/video/index.jhtml?videoId=18408 6&title=sarah-palin-gender-card

Looks to me like Rock Star Sarah should "pick up her toys if she can't play with the big boys, right Dick Morris? Dick?? Hello?

Reply To Will
Not to worry Will. John Bolton is briefing her. Another superb decision by the McCain/Palin campaign.

MY PIG IS SMARTER THAN OBAMA!
Charles Gibson's interview was transparently set up to trip Gov. Palin. I listened to excerpts on the radio and Gibson's agenda came out loud and clear. But Sarah Palin answered the questions with composure and substance. I could actually follow what she was saying because I wasn't subjected to all the "ahh, ahh, ahh", "what I was trying to say", "really" and long uncomfortable pauses that come from a typical Obama response.
Charlie was pig feed in this interview. The more he asked, the smarter she came across.
More food for thought: How would Obama have handled this hostile interview?

Pretending there is no MSM bias
I'm very tired of hearing liberals and the MSM claim Ms. Palin's treatment in the press has been typical or routine for a vice presidential candidate, and that any complaints regarding the coverage is "whining". The treatment of Ms. Palin has been appalling by any measure.

Watch Rock Star Sarah
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qaSECfQqty8

How embaarrassing. She's a winner, she is. (giggle)

The Fifties are over too
Regardless of what history-deficient people may think, the time between 1948 and 1962 was NOT the norm in American society. That was an idyllic time when everyone was recovering from a long period of trauma and young people (whose life experience was far, far different from that of today's 20 year old toddlers) were coming home with scenes of guys they knew and guys their own age lying in muck with their faces blown off, and all on earth they wanted was stability and peace and quiet...and kids around them to prove to themselves that the end of the world had not come. (God's opinion, as Franklin said, that the world should go on.)

If you look at life in America during any other time in history, it was far more like the life Sarah Palin and her family life -- and most of us live -- than life in the Fifties ever was or even was meant to be. Even in the Fifties my earliest memory of Mama is from the back seat of the green Henry J (Daddy drove the blue one), peering through the dark, between the seats, to watch Mama smoking a Lucky Strike unfiltered and following ahead the twinkle of the running lights on the stock car trailer Daddy pulled ahead of us. Sarah Palin could relate to that, I'm sure. So could her kids. So can mine.

I tried to count
The number of times that Obama said "uh" last night at the forum. It was impossible. I also tried to count the times that he did not stay on subject. Again, not a chance.

Obama is apparently incapable of thinking on his feet. You contrast his lack of confidence against either McCain or Palin and there is only one conclusion: Obama is not ready to be president and, until he grows up and learns how to operate in stressful situations, he will never be.

Thanks Hugh
Excellent article. She has my vote. But the humanistic "get God out of America" people are not going to understand it.

Individuals, not Abstractions
As the father of a little girl with cerebral palsy and three foster sons, I can attest that the "better off dead" mentality did not start with Governor Palin's nomination, but I am grateful her nomination has brought it to the forefront.

They argue in the abstract that it is "cruel to subject" a child to a handicapped life. These of course are people who have never tried to get to know someone like my daughter, let alone been a parent to one.

Well, our daughter didn't have the choice between being healthy and disabled, the choice was between being disabled or dead, and I have no doubt what she would choose. She loves life and is the most grateful person, child or adult, I have ever known. Have you ever heard of a child who leaves her favorite TV show every two minutes to tell her dad in the next room, "Thank you, thank you, Daddy. Thanks for letting me watch Dora." That's my daughter.

Similarly, I have no doubt that my foster sons would rather be alive and in "the system" than dead and not "burdening" us, their birth parents, the state, or "society."

There are also a lot of misconceptions about the birth parent "victims of society and the government" whose children are "torn from them" into the system. Far from being helpless and disadvantaged, most of these people have thousands of tax dollars poured into giving them every advantage and chance after chance to succeed, but they give up without ever really trying, sopping up the liberal drivel that it's not their fault.

All the arguments the left makes about the abstract "disadvantaged" fall apart when you actually get to know the flesh and blood individuals.

Wanna see a deer in headlights?
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wgMWhrCzbdk

Yep, that's Rock Star Sarah. She'll take over as president if McCain dies. Sinking in now?

I identified...
Like many working women I totally identified with Governor Palin during her interview with Charlie Gibson. I have sat across from many a "Charlie Gibson" who expressed disdain because I wasn't an Ivy League educated male. You just have to beat them at their own game and Sarah did.

"Asked and Answered, Charlie!"
... is what I wish Sarah had said to the third iteration of the same question about Israel. I would love to hear her respond with a complete shutdown of idiotic questions.

Thanks, Hugh, for your typically well-written, insightful analysis. Count me as another foot soldier in the Army of Sarahs. Go, McCain/Palin!

A swing and a miss Charlie and Co.
Once again the rabid left is slavishly bleating the sounds from their own echo chamber. Uh, guys, try again, nothing to see here but a very competent politician and leader.

Still looking for an interview of Obama which presses him half as hard as what I witnessed from Mr. Gibson. The MSM is doing whatever it takes to promote Barry O for President of these 57 states.

Sarah Palin
Hugh, I love your show. But, honestly, enough of the Dr. Laura days. I think Sarah P was an outstanding pick. But, your show is just repeating the same thing over and over ad naseum. Also, why give credence to all the junk and false info out there by repeating it and covering it 24/7. What about terrorist threats; the cost of crude; how about covering the cost of manufacturing fertilizers, why they are moving overseas and the impact of oil on food prices? Check the International and US Fertilizer web sites - pretty interesting stuff.

Time to move on.

Sincerely,
Don W. Zylstra

Gibson's Body Language
Hugh,

First time writer here and male. You wrote there hasn't been much serious objection to Charlie Gibson's tone or subject matter when he sat down with Palin, I've seen a little. What I want to say though is I think he was totally condescending with the way he was looking down at her over his glasses. I just can't believe these MSM people and how they consider themselves more important than the candidate who is on the front lines.

oblahmah is an embarrassment
I have heard Mr Obama on many ocassions attempt to answer a question. But, between all of the stammerings and "Uhhmms", I could not get to his answer.

Everyone thinks he is brilliant. I don't. He can't even speak as well as high school debate students.

Palin gave answers. Obama just fillibusters and ends with some stupid bromide about something or other. O'Reilly's interview should what a weak thinker and communicator he really is. Boy, he is afraid of O'Reilly and you think he will be able to stand up to anybody? PLEASE ...

A communicator ... yeah right.

Mack
Are you obsessive-compulsive, by any chance? Off your meds, maybe?

Down Syndrome
I completely related to the story by the pediatric anesthesiolgist (sp). I am related by marriage to an incredible 28 year old man with Down Syndrome. This young man is exceptional in every way shape and form. He works to support himself, he has a girlfriend, he loves his family, God, his Country and everything good or bad that goes along with it.

If everyone in America could be just a little like Tim it would truly be a great place. Down Syndrome kids/people are not stupid, in fact they usually have incredibly high IQ's and the memory of an elephant. You can introduce yourself to Tim once, and he will always remember you and something about you that he observed during a brief encounter with him. He remembers even if its been 2 or 10 years since he met you. He is positive and upbeat all the time, despite his extra chromosome.

I wish the world was full of Tim's

Foot Soldier For Sarah
She certainly is a breath of fresh air. A very bright, honest and commited woman who has already served her country quite admirely. I will be proud to decorate my double front doors this fall with McCain-Palin be-ribboned wreaths so that there will be no doubt to anyone that passes my house that I support this revitalized ticket.

Kathleen

Will
She's running for VP, which doesn't require a lot of foreign policy experience. Does Obama have any? You might want to know that Lisa Murkowski, one of Alaska's senators, serves with him on the Senate Foreign Relations Committee and is on two subcommittees with him. She says he is almost never at the meetings and is ill-prepared when he is. Now, yeah, there's partisan rancor there, but then, you're interpretation of Sarah's Gibson interview also contains political rancor. I'm thinking Lisa's experience, being a 2nd term Senator, probably is greater than yours in this department. Heck, when it comes to foreign policy experience, I think Sarah Palin may be more versed by the end of this election than Obama will be because at least she will show up for her tutoring sessions while he .... Well, he can't be bothered to show up for the job the people of Illinois elected him to do, now can he?

I was fed up with the GOP...
But McCain's choice of Sarah has given me hope that there is a future with that party...

Kathleen
Way to go!!!!

I agree with you about Sarah being a breath of fresh air. The fact that she is a woman is just icing on the cake. I am so proud of McCain for asking Sarah to be on the ticket with him and support them 100%.

Unfortunately at work I can not have political stickers on my car. So I made a McCain Palin magnet out of a bumper sticker. I can show my support for this great WINNING team and still now jeopardize my work.

Essence of THE BUSH DOCTRINE~
The most elegant formulation of the BUSH "doctrine"is: The UNITED STATES will hunt down terrorists FROM WHERE EVER they emanate, and regard ANY nation that grants them support or "haven" as subject to Military action/reprisal by the UNITED STATES.

Charles Gibson and NYT lackey/epigone editorialists do NOT know this. If our Sarah so responded, this pathetic MSM inbred would not have recognized the formulation in the first--or last place. Gibson did, however,
epitomize/incarnate a street proverb:"IT FAR BETTER TO BE THOUGHT AN ARRANT FOOL THAN OPEN YOUR MOUTH AND PROVE IT." Arthur McVarish, Houston Texas

She did it right
The Bush Doctrine was too broad, so she asked him to clarify before she answered. Good way to avoid being trapped.

Down Syndrome and Abortion
I do not like the process of abortion, but if my wife wanted to abort our baby, I would have to let her do it. But I know I would drift away from her, ESPECIALLY if it were a Down baby. In fact, IF it were a Down baby, I would try to get her to deliver it, and if she didn't want it, we would split and I would keep the baby.

However, if they could come up with a genettic test that would indicate the baby would grow up to be a liberal like the "senior Canadian doctor" afraid of more Down babies, I would put it out of misery ASAP. There are enough idiots like that doctor in the world already, we don't need more.

Hope that doesn't sound too flippant.

Palin
They ridicule us for believing in God, for taking His values and teachings and applying them to everyday life. Why? Because they are jealous as they are their own God. So much that they tell us that a child with Downs or a disability has less value and therefore less right to live. It's clear when they strengthen their defense of a mother's choice when it involves a child with downs versus a "normal" child. They won't admit it but its there. Sarah and Todd Palin are courageous and loving parents who put themselves last when it comes to their children.

Gibson Interview
Did anyone in the media ever ask these type questions of Sentor Obama. I have never heard any tough questions posed to him. Why is she being held to higher standards than her mail counterparts? I even heard an opinon writer, a female, state that she wanted to be assured that the president would put the country before her family and that she wasn't sure Sarah Palin could do that. Has any male candidate ever been asked that? Does a father love his children less than a mother? I can not believe how sexist the media has become. Where is Hillary Clinton and why is she not speaking out for all women? I am so disgusted with the Democratic side.

for Adolfo
adolfo asks: "Bush Doctrine: How would anyone know what its definition is with certainty?"

In fact, at this moment on Wikipedia, they're having some heated discussions on what the Wikipedia entry for "Bush Doctrine" should say.

Because how it's defined in Wikipedia is not what Charlie Gibson said it meant.

As you say, it's a vague, woolly, not well defined term.

I'm not sure even PRESIDENT BUSH could define it as well as Sarah Palin did.

for Mac777
Mac777,
you're absolutely right.

The most ironic thing is that Gibson tried to force Sarah Palin to discuss pre-emptive war, but that's not what the Bush Doctrine originally meant.

So Gibson got it even more wrong than Sarah did!

Two Points
Since Barack Obama, of late, has made his campaign one of destroying his opponent's choice for vice president, he opens himself to the most important contrast.

Sarah Palin deliberately chose to bring her son Trig into this world, to love and to cherish, in spite of the knowledge her son would be born with Downs Syndrome. Barack Obama on the other hand doesn't want his daughters to be "punished with a baby." To put this in the context in which it should be considered, re-read the story from the pediatric anesthesiologist.

Secondly, and this is critical, the media is not a political party nor are they afforded any rights, privileges or authority in either government policy or public elections. They have however proclaimed a right to both.

It is time to issue an ultimatum to this unelected, self-appointed policy agency. Cease acting as a political advocacy organization or you will be shut down. There is after all, a world of difference between a free press and a political propaganda unit.

Louis MN 10:48 a.m. post
Thank you for your post (partial below) and your understanding of the insulting nature of Charles Gibson's questioning of Sarah Palin last night. As a woman, I was pleased to see that a member of the opposite sex had the same reaction to the off-putting manner in which Mr. Gibson conducted his interview with Governor Palin. My husband did not see it last night so I had to explain to him that the less condescending tone of tonight's interview appeared to be the result of the producers reading the thousands and thousands of emails and comments posted since last evening's disgustingly UNPROFESSIONAL interview! I wanted to take Charlie's twisting and turning shoe and throw it at him ;-) Members of the mainstream media most certainly are not "reporting" news, rather they constantly show their bias as they attempt to "make" the news! I am happy to inform them that it "ain't working" - keep it up, they are just making more and more of us fed up to the teeth with their unashamedly open support of extreme liberalism. Most AMERICANS ARE CONSERVATIVE AND PROUD OF IT!

May God Bless America.

"...I was amazed at the utter condescension in Gibson's voice as he questioned Palin. Another sure sign of his disdain is when asking Palin questions he rarely looked her in the eye or kept his eyes closed..."

I agree that it is time to pull the plug on the media if it can't get its act together. They have long ago put behind them any journalistic ethics.

However, what the msm fail to recognize is the fact that Americans are NOT as unthinking as they make us out to be! I believe there is going to be a great big surprise come November 5 and the psychiatrist couches are going to be full of msm who absolutely cannot grasp that we, the great unwashed ignorant masses, did not get their message!

An Army of Sarahs
The MSM doesn't get that you don't try to get between a mama bear and her cub... let alone to try to get between a lipstick wearing, sweet smiling, intelligent, well spoken, self assured mama bear of five cubs, one of whom has special needs.... The latter is of greatest significance....parents of special needs kids are tremendous advocates and forces to be reckoned with! The MSM does not grasp the ground swell of ire against them that is rising...nor do they grasp the force that is Sarah Palin! As a parent of a special needs child, thank you for your article - it brought tears to my eyes!

An Army of Sarahs
Gibson's interview was a hit piece, and I turned it off. It is not that the questions were fair or not, necessarily, but that they would not have asked such questions of Obama or Biden. Nor would they have been so consistently negative. Just typical MSM c**p all the way around. They need to boycott the left, and simply talk with center right interviewers.

Sarah Footsoldier
I'm in California but originally from an antifreeze state, and what you say is exactly how it is. I see myself in Palin, so all the derision the media and celebrities heap on her are dumped right at my doorstep. These are the people I pay to see in movies and whose TV shows I am supposed to watch, and it couldn't be plainer they detest me and my kind. Thank you very much for the revelation!

The media needs to be FAIR. That is all we ask. I don't need anyone coddling me and I'm sure Sarah doesn't either. But this is about integrity, about the health of our free press.

A Down Syndrome treasure
One of the most recognized and admired young men in the affluent suburb where I reside has Down Syndrome.

He was mainstreamed through public schools. At his high school graduation nearly 5,000 people rose to give him a standing ovation as he received his diploma. It was a very emotional moment for everyone who knew him.

It's difficult to overstate the impact he has had on the lives of many people here, or the love he inspires.

Bush Doctrine
Palin's answer to Gibson's simplistic question was dead on. He may as well have asked her if she agreed with the phone book. The Bush Doctrine as term was coined by Charles Krauthammer in the NY Times in 2002 or so. The definition at that time had nothing to do with Gibson's specious assertion. There have been several things that the press has called "The Bush Doctrine". However, if there is a Bush Doctrine it is best summarized in the September 2002 National Security Strategy document. The document covers all key subjects relative to the security of the US in the world, from WMD to HIV/AIDS and many, many other subjects. It is a detailed view of the world and our place in it as defined by George Bush. You might say it's his 'world view'. But that would be way too nuanced for Gibson...

It never ends, true empathy is dead
This notion that the media is attempting to personally insult everybody that identifies with Sarah is ridiculous. I almost feel like people are getting a jazz out of bucking this attack by sticking with Palin when there is no real attack. I keep hearing accusations that the 'elitist media' just doesn't get you and you call them twats, but then you completely mischaracterize and misinterpret the 'left' rather hypocritically one sentence later. True empathy is dead.

A. I have heard relentless attacks about Obama's unreadyness, especially from McCain. Why should Sarah be subject to something different when her position is similar? And... i don't know... didn't his choice seem hypocritical in that sense? That's the reason people are hammering her experience, McCain put it up there.

B. Obama would love questions like these it is the bullshity questions he tires of. And similarly, everybody is getting sick of everybody going batshit crazy when they don't know what the 'bush doctrine' is by definition or know what arguela costs.

C. If it is OK for Sarah despite lack of XP due to youthful vigor and ability to adapt then the same can be argued for Obama. As such Obama's long campaign that has thrown many changes in his life that he handled well can be considered an example, and Sarah's quick take to Governorship is another.

D. A lot of these attacks are based on the fact that she has lied a fair bit. She pumped her resume a bit and we are calling her on it, what would you expect of us?

A ARMY OF SARAHS
is right on. I am a mother of a special needs child and he is a gift of love. Correct again, many women identify with Sarah Palin because we have been there, done that. I raised two children, was a successful business woman, could hunt as good as any man in Texas, joined the Peace Corps in my 50's to serve my country. I am married to "The Dude", a navy man who was injured in Viet Nam, but gives back to all military veterans serving as a honor guard at a military cementary. You bet, we're voting for Sarah and John. Obama is not to be trusted and he is very, very dangerous, even Biden is trying to find a way out now by saying Hillary would have been a better choice. Didn't someone that gave a speech at the RNC say that Obama changes his mind so often that Biden should get his VP selection in writing?

well, according to 63% of the people you're wrong. majority of the people think that the media is trying to help Obama.

as for your laughable points....Sarah Palin has done more in two years as governor that Obama has in 10 years as a politician immersed in corruption.

I take it that you will never do any research on Obama's corrupt ways in Chicago. so much for your objectivity.

To John
"We need to stop playing games and start shooting back at journalists. Wouldn't it be refreshing if in response to Gibson's question, Palin had shot back, "What do you think this is, a kids game? There is no safe place for terrorists to hide!"

what would be cool is to start seeing all of these leftwingnuts of the media and hollywood types get pies in their faces on camera. I recall a few years back that someone gave Bill Gates and other famous people pie in their faces.

it would be cool to start seeing it now and get it on camera. Gibson, damon, barbara "u'd like to sleep with castro" walters, whoopi "I'm jewish except wheb it's time to defend israel" goldberg, Joy "comdian turned political expert" bejar, Alan "pre-natal" colmes, and other leftwing nuts.

get pies on their faces! LOL!

Gibson, the true MSM
The MSM's are showing their true colors. Liers, hypocrites, and other low-lifes.

We have a prime example in a small Town in southwest Arizona. This guy would'nt know the truth if it jumped up and bit him on his but.

A media is a powerful tool if it is used the right way, but a very destructive one if used in the wrong way.

Such is the case with this editor here in our Town. I think he wants to be the second "national enquirer"

Such is my feelings of the MSM's.

GO SARAH, you've got our votes!!!

Babies Crying in Terror

The 'Born Alive' baby who has known the closest contact with another human any human can experience - the baby has been inside another human for months.

The baby has kicked, stretched and some even suck their thumbs. Every need has been met by its human host - shelter, nourishment and safety.

Suddenly one day the baby is attacked with chemicals and poisons.

The baby enters a world bent on death and destruction towards its life.

The baby has never seen a butterfly, puppy, pretty colors or things all babies enjoy or had any human say I love you.

The baby enters the world in excruciating pain and the best trained Medical experts in the world refuse the baby any aid - in a hospital - where all facilities are available and the Doctors have sworn to protect all human life - except his.

The baby is thrown on a cold table and left to die in some hidden place.

The baby struggles to breathe because a human is born with the human will to survive. The baby cries in terror and sobs for help - that never comes - no one cares.

The innocent baby tries to live with every breath and dies alone, abandoned like a used kleenex, never having experienced anything but pain, rejection and hatred.

When the baby finally dies a death of torture and the ultimate rejection any human can receive, it is such a worthless human it doesn't even have a 'Death Certificate' issued that it ever existed.

For a few minutes, hours or days, that baby WAS an American Citizen, that should have received all of the 'Rights and Protections' under law, that any other American Citizen should have.

Michelle and Barack Obama and most Democrats, have done everything humanly possible, to make sure this baby does NOT even receive any pain medication.

Go ahead, MSM.....
You have cried wolf so many times about Sarah, even if now a minor scandal erupts - pay attention - I don't care. I'm voting for the McCain Palin ticket.

You keep talking. You keep trashing her, her values, her style, her way of speaking, her state, and her small town. You just keep it up.

Every time you open your bloated mouths, John and Sarah get another vote. What I'm looking forward to is the collective explosion of heads the day after the election.

real vs. facade
Sarah Palin radiates confidence, which is not the same as hubris (overweening pride), and it springs from her knowledge of who she is and what she can do (quite a lot). This in turn makes people be willing to entrust her with the stewardship of our affairs.

Obama doesn't know who he is. How could he, given his background? True, he has learned to project coolness, but it is a facade which is becoming increasingly porous. By 4 November it will be a decided minority of voters who will be able to quiet their doubts long enough to pull the lever for him.

"Kiss of Death"
Your mother tells you, that she has met a wonderful girl and she's "Pretty".Translation; If she says she's "Pretty", that usually means she's not that Smart. Mothers try to put the best features first. I hear Governor Palin is "Kinda Pretty". Whatever that means? I live in Georgia!!!

Hit the nail on the head.
Hugh,

You are exactly right. As someone from a small town in Minnesota with many friends who are blue collar people, I know that attacks on Palin for well a small-town Mom, really feels like an attack on us. Here is a case where the MSM is really getting Obama in trouble. He is not going to be able to reshape himself, because the MSM and Hollywood elites will continue to attack and that will continue to alienate a large section of the population.

Female Media
Let's ask the female media how many babies they aborted because a pregnancy was wrong for their career to see if they think that's intrusive. Let's ask the national female media who have kids, who's watching their kids while they're at work? Why do pro-life people always have to be on defense?

The Mask
The mask has fallen off the snarling face of the American liberal and, perhaps for the first time, the hate-filled, scornful, demonic gargoyle is on display for all to see. This is a frightening display but should be carefully viewed by all, for it is the face of the destruction of America. An Army of Sarah's, along with all of rest of the mentally competent, will be required to defeat it.

Where is Michelle
Steve-o

Didn't you see her speech at the convention where she came out as the all American housewife and mother. She was at home baking cookies.

I've sent $$$$$.
I've ordered my signs and buttons and bumper stickers. I've enlisted. Go John McCain, Go Sarah Palin. We are behind you all the way and as my mom always said, " May God be with you".

Bill
Right. Michele is home baking cookies. She does this all the time, its a consuming passion. :-D Actually, the show reminded me of those pictures of Gore and Kerry going "hunting" or Dukakis in that tank. The most uncomfortable silly looking people since Coolidge was photographed in that war bonnet. Actually some folks, quite apart from politics are likeable and some are not. Clinton, Barack, Reagan and Palin are. Hillary, Michele, Kerry, and Teresa Heinz are not. Trying to make an unlikeable person look likeable is like trying to teach a pig to whistle. It can't be done and the pig just looks silly.

Does anyone else
miss Tim Russert? He knew how to ask tough questions with honesty and respect and I never once saw him use a double standard, like Barbara and Charlie just pulled. I think they are worn out, go back to the kitchen and let someone more capable do those jobs. If they're going to flush the anti-discrimination movements down the garbage disposal for profit, might as well stick them in there, too.

I'm sure Barbara Walters never grilled John Kerry on how many houses he and his wife owned like she did McCain. He looked dapper and she looked senile. John McCain has spent many years in the Senate and was a POW, for God's sake!! Don't you think he deserved a little fairer treatment, no matter who you are for? Don't you have enough money by now???

And Charlie has yet to ask the *totally inexperienced* Obama any tough questions, what's the matter, old man? Are you chicken sh*t? Yes. What a flamer.

An Army of Sarahs
Regarding your email from the anesthesiologist's reaction to the focus on Trig Palin: Genuardi's is also my family's supermarket. Ten years ago, when our DS son "graduated" from high school, we began our search to find a caring employer so that our son could be productive in the community. Three months ago, our son retired from Genuardi's (now a division of Safeway) after ten years of service. During those ten years, our son garnered the love, support and respect of virtually every employee and supervisor he came in contact with. Unfortunately, many of those who have not been touched by a DS child (or any other special needs child) cannot fathom that anyone would choose not to abort such a child if presented with the opportunity. One can only hope and pray that such people remain in the minority, for if their numbers should ever reach critical mass...well, it won't be pretty.

I mentioned "age"
in regard to Barbara and Charlie, because they and their cronies are trying to use McCain's age as an excuse for abuse against his female VP candidate, Governor Palin, and to keep him out of the White House. I was being sarcastic, just to clarify.

My Mother in Law
had five children, one of them had Cerebral Palsy, and she and my Father in Law raised that family and built a successful business that employed many other working mothers in their area. She *loves* Gov Palin and so does my mother, who raised three kids on her own and became the VP of her company in the days when women couldn't even get a job as an insurance agent, credit card or loan from a bank.

Before we started our own business, I was managing an office with 60+ male employees and was being paid the same wage as a 19 yr old part time janitor. I threw it back in their faces and exposed them in the newspapers for abusing urine testing to harass other employees. Bill Clinton was President, he condoned that. It was the conservatives and Christians who stood beside me, not liberals, and we risked and lost our home to take a stand. I am proud of it and I prayed for the Lord to open a window, so that we could find a new life. We did.

My own grandmother was a teacher in a two room schoolhouse. She told me to "Do the right thing and you will never have any regrets." I always tried to follow that advice, no matter what I stood to gain or lose, and it is because of women like us that younger women have the rights they do, today.

The Dems want to throw all we've achieved away to get power for an inexperienced, fast talker using *blatantly sexist* tactics.

THANKS FOR NOTHING, YOU SELF SERVING COWARDS! WIN OR LOSE, YOU HAVE EXPOSED YOUR OWN SELVES AS FRAUDS AND YOUR COVER IS BLOWN. READ MY LIPSTICK - KISS OFF!!

An Army of Sarahs
I haven't seen anyone fake it this well since Meg Ryan in "when harry met sally".It's obvious to anyone not blinded by their own ideology that Sarah is not prepared for the very real possibility that she could end up president. If she had actually been able to answer these simple questions that Joe Biden or Barack Obama would have been able to elaborate on you wouldn't have to rush to defend her on the grounds of being unfairly "attacked" by the press. Quit lying to yourselves you know this is politics first country last.

Alan OH
Yoy really don't get git, do you Alan ?
You sound like you are a recent product of our failed public education and perhaps one of our Marxist colleges.
Sarah Palin is a real American, "regular people" and Sarah is here to stay. Nothing you, our pathetic schools or the MSM can do about it. In fact, the more the MSM tries to destroy her the more they themselves get discredited.
From here on, Sarah has yet to grow and grow and grow...not an "Army of Sarahs" but a real Tsunami of Sarahs, better start getting used to it. Badmouthing Sarah is like attacking motherhood, apple pie and the very core of the United States of America!

Sarah's Army
I'm ready to enlist.

Looking forward to the fair and balanced FOX interview next week.

To Alan
I guess you missed that Obama has not been asked any hard questions by the butt wiping MSM and Joe Biden is now stuck between a rock and a hard place by his own hypocritical party. If you want people to think you're intelligent, you might want to take that bag off your head, so you stop stepping in your own piles. And wipe your feet before coming in the door, didn't your mother teach you anything?

It gets really "Annoying" and "Distracts" from the "Points" that you're trying to "Make."

bush doctrine
Charles Krauthammer has a piece on the "Bush Doctrines" for those of you that care to have the facts about it. Sarah got it just as correct as charlie did. GO SARAH GO!

STAND UP CHUCK!....hehehe

All Hail Sara!
So, it's okay when Republicans have personality cults?

I just want to keep up on the double standards.

Good one, Hugh! I think you again put your finger on the pulse of the everyday American.

As the Army should be . . .
Honesty trumps empty elocution everytime. Or so I pray in Nov '08.

Count me in, as a foot soldier
in the Army of Sarahs. I can identify with her -- in my 40's, a mother, has to juggle work and raising a family. She's a much more accomplished version of ME. I think most NORMAL mothers can really relate to her. I'm all in for this ticket, now that Sarah has been chosen by John McCain. It's the BEST decision he's made in this campaign, and he'll WIN because of it. Go McCain/Palin!
Mom in Wisconsin

Valerie . . . almost right . . .
Yes, we have personalities. The "cult" part is quite obviously reserved for those that create their own truths . . . then worship them as if "hope and change" after over half a century of "hope and change" will all of sudden work miraculously because a chosen one utters the phrase with harmony and grace but with no discernible skill but his tongue. Now that takes a "cultish" faith to grab hold of . . . and hold on to . . .

bla bla bla
bla writes:

"A. I have heard relentless attacks about Obama's unreadyness, especially from McCain. Why should Sarah be subject to something different when her position is similar?"

No, it is not similar. Palin is a Governor of a state and former mayor, both executive positions, as was Bill Clinton when he ran for President. She is running for VP. Barack Obama has never run anything except a campaign and he's running for the top executive position on the country with ZERO experience. I hope that clears things up.

Go Sarah
Keep the truth alive - their ignorance and mean spiritedness and complete hypocrisy of 'choice' will all come into the light of truth.
They are not for choice, as one would think, they are only for one choice - to eliminate the child.
How can anyone say they would stand for this choice?
Vote McCain/Palin

Excuse me, Alan ...
... when you said,

"If she had actually been able to answer these simple questions that Joe Biden or Barack Obama ..."

... the video of Senator Obama's session with Rick Warren comes to mind.

Compared to that exhibition of navel-gazing vacillation, Gov. Palin looks like a seasoned Secretary of state ... once again showing why I usually refer to him as the Big 0 ...

... as in, 1-1= ...

The Special Needs Affect
I am a 51 year old woman. All five of my children are now grown and moved out of the house. One of my children had to leave a little sooner that the others due to her special needs condition. My Sarah had Rett Syndrome, and died at the age of 12 in 1995. She was the best thing that ever happened to my husband and I, our family, her teachers, and friends. She taught us the true meaning of love, life, and survival. I am an advocate for parents and care givers who have, or care for special needs children and adults.

Thank you Sarah and Todd Palin for having your little miracle. I respect these parents for their decision to keep their special baby boy, and for the love they have for their children. A Pastor friend of mine once told me: "special needs children are not given to parents for the parents to teach them, but for the special child to teach the parents."

I truly believe that Governor Palin has the strength, courage, direction, and experience to serve this country as our VP. What more could we ask for? Sarah is a woman of integrity and toughness, and compassion. She has concern for all people, the unborn, and to those who are raising special children, or have had the honor and blessing of rearing and loving a special child.

Special needs children and adults are great teachers, and givers of unconditional love. I truly believe that if more of our Government leaders could spend more time around these very precious, special people they would change the way they look at life and certain issues.

God bless Todd & Sarah Palin, and their beautiful family. Hang in there Sarah, our prayers are with you.

Response to Retired Geek:
Awesome comment!!!!

There is a war in our own country against our own American citizens who are too small to fight for themselves.

Shame on you baby killers!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Saddleback???? PLEAAAAASSSEEEE!
itchieTheRiveter,

It is absolutely ABSURD for you to compare Obama's Q&A session at Saddleback to what Gibson subjected Palin to. Saddleback looked more like the Larry King Show compared to the grilling, peppered line of questions and snotty, snickering remarks Gibson gave (The hubris retort comes to mind)....The Saddleback Forum was insightful, but it wasn't confrontational for either candidate. There were no followup questions, and the answers were left to stand on their own merit for the audience to decide. Gibson was haughty and dismissive, like all of Palin's detractors. Give me a break, is that the best you can do????

Heweitt is right: I've scanned every you tube media video on Obama, they're ALL love fests. If you can find ONE hard hitting Obama interview then please enlighten us. (And OReily doesn't count because due to time he let him off the hook on just about every issue)......

Bottom line is that no objective person can compare Saddleback to the Gibson inquisition and slick editing slight of hand. You people really need to get off the smear wagon and start talking about the real issues you pretend to care about, but obviously don't have the time to, or the Dems will once again go down to a humiliating defeat.

Obama Vs Palin?
I think the libs have forgotten that Obama is running against McCain, not Palin. You'd never know it though based on the obvious obsession with her.

It's proof that Democrats are running scarred. Of course, they'll never admit it, but the facts speak for themselves. And the fact is increasingly clear that Palin is seen as a definite threat to Obama's candidacy. (Which is very strange...unless you have access to the internal polls. And I'm sure what the Obama camp is seeing ain't pretty.)

My message to the smear merchants: keep it up, it's only helping the GOP.

A True Representative
The American people are tired of fake. They're tired of people and organizations who contribute nothing but noise and self-adulation to our society. They want to stand behind someone who reminds them of them. Someone who has struggled with an imperfect family. Someone who has lived in a small town. Someone with a Midwestern accent. Someone who has taken on the establishment and won. Someone who has DONE something other than TALK for a living.

And they've found it in Sarah Palin. And heaven help anyone who gets between them and their new REPRESENTATIVE.

Hugh, I am voting for Obama reluctantly since Palin is too conservative for this moderate Republican...but...I respect and like her. My Democrat friends and I have been arguing about her. Until the Democrats learn to respect people like her and understand her...they are doomed. I am appalled at what they are saying. They say she is one step up from Toyna Harding or that she and her family is trash. Its disgusting!!!

You hit the nail on the head
We in small-town America are so sick and tired of the MSM and Sarah is our Savior! My daughter will be able to vote for the first time in this election and could only yawn at the prospect of voting for Obama. Now she is voting for THE MAMA!!!! By the way, where can I buy pitbull-pink lipstick?!!!

MSARM -- HOLD YOUR (FRIENDLY) FIRE!
Believe me, I am NO supporter of the Big 0 (as in, 1-1=___).

I brought up Saddleback because it illustrates one of my biggest objections to the Big 0 ... his propensity for navel-gazing vacillation that he shares with so many on the Left.

His/their lack of confidence in sound, historically-validated American principle has made the world less free ... and where people aren't free, peace is just an illusion.

Compared to that unprovoked display of unprincipled intellectualism, the "newcomer" Gov. Palin looks like a seasoned diplomat.

I fully agree with your take on Saddleback ... it was a GREAT insight into how these men think ... with one wrapping his "superior" intellect around the axle, and the other showing that, even at 72, he is ready and able to lead.

No lipstick, but.............
E-mail George Harris. ggharris@optonline.net and he'll set you up with a barracuda pin in your choice of pewter, gold-painted or full color with red lipstick on the kisser.

teachers for Palin
I am a special needs teacher and I volunteer with the Special Olympics. All of us could learn from this amazing group of women and men.

The day Palin was announced the VP candidate there was a buzz around my school. YES school where most of the people lean to the left and the NEA does their best to make sure you do what they say.

People can relate to the Palins, warts and all. Let me tell you there are a legion of teachers who have a great deal of respect and admiration for Governor Palin.

Liberals
I always thought Liberals were open minded and open hearted. They showed compassion for all. Love thy neighbor and it takes a village.

What happened? Or are you only open minded and hearted towards those who are like you?

I bet if Palin becomes the VP you will never recognize her as the FIRST female VP. A conservative can never be a first unless it is something negative.

GOP's #2 More Qualified Than Dem's #1
Subject title says it all.

The Army of Sarahs
have existed for years, but have been leaderless. Finally, we have a woman who is like us and is running for one of the highest position in this country. Finally, we have a woman who stuck it to the good ole boys who, like Charlie Gibson, sneer at us with open sexist disdain. Finally, we have a woman who knows how much a gallon of milk or loaf of bread costs. Finally, we have a woman who knows what it is like to be told that their child will not be perfect but chooses life anyway. And finally, we have a woman who represents the vast majority of women in this country who have been marginalized by the elite left and the self proclaimed women's groups.

I know that Sarah Palin is capable of leading this country, because I know the people in her army are tough, determined and sick and tired of sitting in the back of the elite driven bus.

Stand Up and Fight!
Like McCain said - STAND UP!!! He had my vote anyway, but now I will actually be excited to go vote! It will be interesting to see how far Obama and his gang of thugs will be willing to go. This will definitely be a bumpy ride. This man has done more to divide our country than anyone previously running for Prez. I just had that gut feeling it would be this way. What do you expect from the Chicago mob scene?

TRUTH VS LIES...WHICH DO YOU WANT?
The Flim Flam Obamaman and his campaign from the very start is mired down in lies. Right from the start his lies on TV about his realtionship with Wright, Ayers, etc. Then having to go back on TV to correct. That has been the whole premise of his campaign. Lies/correct...lies/correct...etc.

Governor Palin is a breath of fresh air. She is honest, forthright, opinionated, caring and committed. What is wrong with that? Who can go up against that?

President Elect McCain chose her because she is his alter-ego. He always said he would pick someone who shared his values and vision...and he did just that!

They will be the winning team in November, because they are just like the majority of Americans. They see what is wrong, they want to correct and reform it to get us back on track! They have my vote in November and I, trust, they will have yours too!

"FLIM FLAM": DECEPTION, FRAUD, DOUBLE DEALING.

Anything over $250,00 is Rich.
I find it ironic that Biden and Obama made just under $250,00 how convenient. Well they are used to giving themselves pay raises why not tax cuts. Sarah Palin is looking better and better everyday.

Interviews of Obama Advisors
Today as I watched the talking heads on CNN, Meet the Press and others it was disturbing to say the least watching while the Republican Advisors answered the interviewers questions but the Democates instead of answering attacked the Rep Adv. and McCain and Palin. When will the MSM start asking them the hard ball questions and keep nailing it until they get an answer? My vote is going to McCain as I know more and more people will be joining us. Let's hold the fire to their feet.

Ann
Ann, I read your comment, which certainly was not lengthy. Then I had to re-read the first sentence, because I was sure I had misread it the first time. I hadn't.

You say your vote is going to Obama because Gov. Palin is too conservative for you, a "moderate Republican"?? Let me be clear: I really like Sarah Palin. I agree she is conservative in many ways. But honey, if you think she's too conservative for a "moderate" woman, I think you need to own up to being more left-leaning.

Even more incongruous, tho', was that, after your first sentence, you proceeded to give reason upon reason not to vote for Obama! You really need to take a closer look at yourself...and at Obama.

He's so far to the left that I would have run back to the right, when I was a moderate.

mack
You need to do some research and find out what Obama will do to this country if he gets in. You are a disgrace to Alabama. Move to one of Obama's 57 states and get out of our 50.

well done
Thanks for the great article. I agree that the Obama camp blew it. They continue to alienate one group after another. Women. The disabled nd those who care for them. Seniors (with the "out of touch" ads).

Women are far too complex to put in one group or another and there are fewer and fewer of us who vote by one issue alone - abortion.

I can only imagine who Obama will insult this week.

Another miscalculation by Obama is just how unhappy the average American family is with the Congress, much more than with the President. We are all smart enough (especially after Nancy turned off the lights to head on her book tour while we pay $4/gallon) to see that the partisan gridlock and lack of Washington progress falls at the feet of the Democratic leadership in Congress. The American public is smart enough to know that it wants "reform" more than it wants "change". This fact, along with distrust of MSM, will cause a major defeat to the Democrats in November.

Good job Sarah
Overall i think that she did well in the interview with Charlie Gibson, except for the Bush doctrine gaffe that has been taken out of context by the left, she held up well. I can't wait until she dose an interview with Bill O'Reilly that will really be a test of her toughness.

An Army of Sarah
No doubt Sarah has given a boost to mainstream voters across America. Intresting that Barbra Boxer claims that Palin is far removed from mainstream America while so many find a kindred spirit or some type of association with her. The Palin adrenaline shot is needed for McCains morris type personality. This election seems to be based on personality rather than record. By comparison Obama has done very little other than writing and talking, the very one that said he shouldnt have on the job training is now giving him on the job training. It appears as if winning is more important than correctness on the Democrats part. But are the Republicans that much different? McCain has always been that one constant on earmark spending, he practices what he preaches. His hope is to cut back a 100 billion yearly in earmark spending both hardmarks and softmarks. But his runningmate is the queen of earmarks. Granted she has cut back considerably but maybe she should consider having state sales and earnings taxes rather than having the rest of the union pay up. As vice president, looking over the senate there will be a fiscal conflict concerning earmarks.

Sarah = Culture of Life candidate
I live in one of the coastal elite snob states (Massachusetts), but 1) I'm a Midwest native and 2) I'm a Catholic Reagan conservative. In short, I'm an exile in mission territory in more ways than one. However, when I first heard that Sarah Palin bucked the pro-abortion genetic counseling establishment and brought little Trig into the world, I thought, "She's the culture of life candidate!" I liked her instantly because my wife and I are in our early 40s with one child 12 months old and another on the way due on Thanksgiving Day. Both times we told the genetic counselors in as many words that we would accept and love any child that God graces us with, no matter the potential problems. We refused to be tested, and we haven't been happier. Not that we're saints or anything close to that, but hopefully we have faith. We simply see that life is a gift and God won't give us more than we can handle if our second child has any problems. Looks like Sarah thought and prayed along the same lines too. That's why I identify with her.

Army of Sarah
I've just signed up today...i'm in the army now...the army of Sarah.

Children with Down's Syndrome
I do not have a family member with Down's, but I am a Special Ed. school bus driver and have had (and still do) children with Down's as passengers on my bus.

I have found that they are NOT invalids! They are actually quite bright. They may have other problems, or suffer different degrees of the affliction, but they DO understand and can function quite well if treated pretty much like other children.

I have seen the difference between children who have been treated as if they couldn't understand and those who were corrected if they did something wrong. The ones who were corrected (treated like everyone else), seemed to be more sociable, generous, considerate, and more willing to accept responsibility for themselves and others.

The one who was treated as if he "doesn't understand - he thinks it's just a game" is one of the smartest! He has learned how to "play" people and is becoming somewhat violent - because he wasn't corrected. He had learned at a pretty young age to use his "disability" to his advantage.

Children with Down's Syndrome are not helpless, hopeless, or useless! Like I said before, they are quite bright and can learn many things with the proper education, and encouragement.

I love my kids! They are a blessing!
