Will the Dems' health care Christmas Present to America be an improvement or detriment to our health care system?

Do you carry tire chains in the winter? Do you own snow tires? Has anti-freeze ever been a part of your life?

There are states where winter weather requires not so much resolve as accommodation. States where routines built on generations of experience take over after Labor Day as the approach of Old Man Winter obliges the prudent to prepare.

Many of these states have been colored a blue shade of politics in recent years: Maine, New Hampshire, Pennsylvania, Michigan, Wisconsin, Minnesota, Iowa and Colorado. All of these states lean Democratic, and are expected to do the same again in November.

But the addition of Sarah Palin to the GOP ticket changes things, and in some places quite a bit.

“Would you like to campaign with her,” I asked Minnesota Senator Norm Coleman, matched against the washed-up comedian and failed radio talk show host Al Franken in the fall.

“Any time, any where, any day,” Norm replied with enthusiasm. “She can lace up a pair of skates and hunt with the best of them. She will do very well in many, many parts of my state including many of the Democratic strongholds like the Iron Range.”

There in a nutshell is the Palin appeal, the quality that has Democrats quaking and the Beltway-Manhattan media elite on a mission to destroy her career before its potentially realigning effects can be felt at the ballot booth.

Sarah Palin is a self-reliant, achievement-oriented woman of the north, as bracing a blast of fresh air as ever met you on a January morning, and lots of northerners of both genders and all political stripes know what that means and respect what it embodies. They identify with the character that grows up in the Maine woods or the Michigan UP or the west slope of the Rockies. Those of us who grew up in the Snow Belt and who know what “lake effect” mean know as well that she knows what it is to deal with aftermath of three feet of fresh powder. Even the hardiest of northern souls in the lower 48 admit –grudgingly—that Alaska is a different order of north.

There’s a smile and a lot of respect in that recognition.

And even the hardest working man or woman no matter where they live but especially if they live in a place where commuting means hoping the battery will start will note that commercial fishing is no one’s idea of a soft job.

Sarah Palin has burst on the national scene, but she is also going to be a force to be reckoned with on the electoral map. In each of the states named above (and my always-on-the-edge home state of Ohio to boot) there are large populations of hunters and outdoorsmen and outdoorswomen, farmers and resource workers and the families they provide for. There are ice-fishers and snowmobilers and cross-country ski and snow shoe wearers.

We haven’t had a northerner like Palin in the Vice President’s mansion since Jerry Ford. Dick Cheney’s a westerner for sure, and Lynne Cheney’s memoir, “Blue Skys, Open Fields,” makes clear that the Wyoming of their youth was plenty cold, but Dick Cheney, like Jerry Ford before him, came into office after long residence away from the wilds that surrounded them growing up. Their characters were shaped by the outdoors, and they enjoyed them still, but being fresh from the mountains and wind chills deep-below-zero is unique for Palin.

And it matters. A lot. In a lot of places.

I have written before about the other communities Palin is connecting with at an emotional level. Millions of women, of course, but especially mothers and specifically mothers of troops and mothers of children with special needs.

She’s also got the emotional wiring of a small business owner and a local elected leader.

She is, famously, a hockey mom and a moose hunter, a boater and the wife of an aging outdoors’ competitor.

She is connecting on so many levels because her life has been lived on so many fields.

Many of those experiences are distinctly northern, and largely unknown or forgotten to MSM-types who won’t know whom to ask for an opinion on Palin. Movement towards her in unlikely places may be tough to detect for the Beltway media mandarins, so watch those blue places to see if they warm to a kindred soul in the next 60 days.

The Second Coming of Margaret Thatcher
Sarah Palin has the potential to be the second coming of Margaret Thatcher. She has more testosterone than the entire democratic party, and much of the republican party.

http://www.tygrrrrexpress.com/2008/09/2008-republican-conve ntion-day-3-sarah-palin-the-second-coming-of-margaret-thatc her/

Respectfully,

eric aka the Tygrrrr Express

Palin offers a real Am. woman's life
She may have been helped into the gov't office by the early 60s feminism that spun off from the civil rights movement, but those 60s pepople have devolved into fringe Yuppie lesbian lawyers (not that there's anything wrong with that), the very people who cannot understand that a woman might have a family, several children, a job, hobbies and interests, and run for office.

Women have always worked in business, multi-tasked volunteering for the Red Cross, had children, held PTA meetings, and baked the Christmas turkey, all at the same time.

Hillary for all her smarts, and she is smart, never connected with real working people on that level because she never was one. She was the privileged lawyer-wife of the gov. or the pres. She was never fully endorsed by Pat Moynihan when she carpetbagged to NYC. he saw the lack of the genuine article.

There was and is always going to be an aloofness or disconnection between Mrs. Clinton and the Palins of the world, who stayed in small towns, fought the good fights, didn't spend all of their lives scheming for the near chance, and succeeded beyond anyone's dreams.

The left hates Palin because she is the Am. dream, who achieved it without a gov't grant or tax credit.

I didn't think a mon. ago the Reps. had a chance in hell in this election. I now think exactly opposite. I think they may also pick up some of those seats lost in 2006 when Dems. ran to the right of their Rep. opponents, esp. since they went to DC and became Reid's and Pelosi's pets.

Mac says it's a new day, and he speaks of change people really can believe in. The bureaucracies and grant-grubbers in DC must be cowering under desks History is about to be made.

"Hurricane" Sarah
Out of the "Blue", with only two national appearances, Gov. Palin has, single-handedly ressucitated the Republican Party and fired up the conservative movement. Regardless of what happens on Nov. 4th, she already is a legend in her own right.
No matter how much frivolous attacks the mainstream media throws out, the stronger she seems to get. "Tefflon Lady"?
The MSM, liberals, democrats and assorted beltway "cognoscenti" look like scurrying cockroaches caught in sudden light.

Sarah Palin
Tyger, sorry, but she's not a man wearing lipstick. She's an Alaskan woman. Growing up we're taught that weather doesn't wait for us to finish our manicure, so we'd better put on the Carhartts over our pretty dress and go shovel the walk before the car gets stuck.

Renny, you got a point on the National level about the feminism of the 1960s, but Alaska had a woman governor in territorial days. Mrs. Egan was actually filling her husband's third term (limits, you know), but she surprised Bill by making some decisions he did authorize that still affect our state today -- for instance, you can't gamble here, not even on Native land. I think Sarah has been more helped by the long-time Alaskan view of women as equals and partners with their men. When Sarah and I were young, men outnumbered women in the state 3 to 1, which meant that men knew we had choices, so they treated us like we deserved. We also had really good role models -- women who climbed Denali, fished seiners, logged, ran (and won) the Open North American Sled Dog race while eight months pregnant.

I think what the left hates is that she's a woman who has lived as a woman and makes no apologies for being a woman and yet is not at all intimidated by men. I'd be willing to bet that when Todd's out on the snowmachine racing trail or up in BP, Sarah chops her own wood and changes her own oil. I seriously doubt Hillary or Michelle even know how to open their hoods.

Sarah has become the wife, the mother
The sister of every one who loves America.

She alone has united a divided republican party, and there will be no retreat in our support if it takes life and limb to defend this remarkable and decent Lady.

God Bless America
AND God Da*n "reverend" Wright

The Anti-freeze Belt
I never really thought of it that way before, but Hewitt makes a good point. Sarah knows what it's like to go out and dip your oil tank and wonder if you have enough diesel left for the next cold snap or if you need to forego something else in order to get another delivery of oil. I think that's going to play rather well with the north-tier states. My mom's folks came from North Dakota and my husband's family lives in the Northeast. We're finding that those we connect with there are starting to wonder how they're going to heat their homes this winter. Well, Alaskans aren't wondering -- at least not about the first fill up. Our state government has been richly blessed by the current oil glut (in the 1980s, when oil dropped below $9 a barrel, people here STARVED) and Sarah has authorized money to go to Alaskan residents for us to fill our oil tanks. That's something McCain-Palin should emphasize as they tour the Anti-Freeze belt. While the Democrats in Congress went on vacation rather than address Don Young's comprehensive energy package, Sarah Palin addressed Alaska's need for heating fuel this winter. Universal health care won't do us a whole lot of good if we freeze to death in the dark this winter and northern people know that. I see a possibility that there may be a sudden landslide victory for McCain-Palin. An early cold snap could only do us good!

Hugh is exactly right....
To us in the upper mid-West, Sarah is so freakin real it's scary. The Beltway/Broadway/Hollywood axis is soooo out of touch with the rest of the nation.

The Messiah with a thin resume is worried...

Barry Hussein and Hair-plug Joe? Are you kiddin? They're toast.

Palin appeal
The Palin appeal is not limited to the anti freeze states. My observation is that she is catching on with traditional Hispanic Women. They are very family oriented and Palin is married to a minority blue collar guy. They also tend to be Catholic or Evangelical (pro life). They see a lot more similarity with Palin than they do with Obama.

Palin can carry CO and NM with the right campaign. If the Reps win CO they win the election.

The impact of Palin
I see 'nimbleness' in the McCain campaign, and I love it.

This election was shaping up to be "status quo" vs. "change", with McCain trying to argue that "change" really meant "radical change you don't want". His campaign apparently decided (correctly in my opinion) that they were no likely to win this way.

Picking Sarah Palin changed the whole dynamic. Now the voters get to choose between "Obama change" vs. "McCain change". The McCain camp has obliterated the "third Bush term" attack Obama was using.

Even better, Obama has largely discarded the "I'm a post-partisan candidate" part of his campaign, and McCain is picking it up.

There's still eight weeks to go, but I'm really lov'in the sea change we've all seen. Keep telling people "we don't just want any ol' change, we want good change, and JOHN MCCAIN IS GOOD CHANGE".

The Palin Pick
As usual, Hugh is spot-on. In a blunder almost as monumental as picking 36-year inside-the-Beltway political hack Joe Biden as his running mate, Obama and his campaign staff are claiming this sitting Governor, with more experience than Obama in elected office, executive office, and as a commander of military forces, is not sufficiently qualified to be second in line to the presidency.

Seems that Obama's elite college education didn't include a course in common sense.

No, the Messiah, his lap dog media, and Democrat Party handlers have committed a grievous error. I suspect women will rally behind this honest mother of five, especially if she is under attack from a gang of political thugs (I guess you can exclude the uber-radical NOW gang). If you take the time to surf the blogs, you will find that women are excited over McCain's pick -- and those slinging mud at this capable woman will pay a heavy price.

The fact is, with his selection of Palin and with a finely-honed political saber, John McCain has cut off Obama's campaign legs at the knees. The proof is that Obama has had to backtrack from his initial denigration of Palin for having "zero experience" and being a former mayor of a "nothing town."

John McCain's selection of Sarah Palin also tells us something about McCain: he really believes he will win. Here's hoping he does.

IQ Insult
The question is whether Republicans are cynical enough to believe in identity politics?

Sarah is a moose hunter, Sarah is a hockey mom, Sarah is a woman, Sarah is from the cold country.

Blah. Blah. Blah.

Well, we got identity politics with Bush. Bush was the guy "Americans would most like to have a beer with" as opposed to Al Gore, who was seen as Mr. Wooden.

So its just an IQ Insult. Republicans once again are trying to get voters on someone they'd like to have a beer with, as opposed to someone who has something to say, about, oh, I don't know, the economy?

But I guess since we can Identify with her son shipping to Iraq, we should be excited.

Obama: Pale-in comparison
Good to see the libs who always pride themselves on their 'openmindedness' (=emptymindedness) and 'fairness': Oprah won't have Sarah on her show. did she/will she have Biden; if so what about the Fairness Doctrine? Afraid she might lure some of your bon-bon eating audience, afraid she's a lot hotter than you, Opie? Another condescending elitist, who has made her pile, and wants to pull up the ladder from other women.

Rennie, you are probably right that Sarah has the most testosterone, but she seems to have plenty of progesterone too, to these ogling 50-something eyes.

When Gustav was a threat, i fully expected to read about her swimming out a couple of miles in the Gulf to rescue someone, or maybe to fix an oil rig with a paper clip and some bubble gum. Some women might not vote for her cause they could be intimidated by UberWoman; some men are too!

One thing I love about Sarah
and Cindy McCain - no problem wearing a skirt at the convention. This is not off topic.

These ladies don't have to tell anyone in a blue state she's just as comfortable in blue jeans with a three part LL Bean jacket (or more) most of the time. She's the real deal and doesn't have to be anything other than what she is.

I'm from VA and another thing I LOVE about her is she is NOT from inside or near I-495. People like Obama who relish being in the in-crowd of that snake pit out to be automatically excluded from consideration.

We need more people from places like AK, UP of MI, West Texas. The only thing I really hope is if she gets elected, she does her time and takes her family home. Washington's a great place to visit and serve your country, but DON'T STAY!!!!

Hey, Vamp!
Tell us what a "community organizer" is!!

I am not playing "identity politics". I want someone who puts the government jet on E-bay and spikes the bridge to nowhere. Had McCain picked, say, Susan Collins or Olympia Stowe, I don't think we would have been dancing in the aisles.

I am truly sorry to say this but Obama will be more of the same type of politician we all say we hate, only MORE so.

The inner city political culture of so many large cities, exemplified by Chicago, is defined by corruption. I do NOT say that with glee, but as one who groans watching people who willngly tolerate so called leaders that are in it for themselves. I have personally lived it, and it is a weight many of us, in many places, bear with sorrow.

If for no other reason, BHO being part of the politics of one of the most corrupt should alone disqualify him.

Correction - Snowe, not Stowe!!
Apologies to all.

Charles Martel, aka, the Hammer!
You and yours need to do what you can to inflate the outside the beltway vote, and depress the inside the beltway vote; don't let your state go blue, like my godforsaken commonwealth--hopeless.

Cheap political theater
So, putting a government jet on sale on Ebay impresses you?

You think that's the best way to get full resale for a Jet?

So you are impressed with cheap theatrics.

She probably lost thousands of tax payers dollars selling it on Ebay, but hey, obviously the publicity was worth it, eh?

aurorawatcher and Vamp
AW: I agree with your assessment of HH's view of her appeal. Being a native Minnesotan but living in CA now, I have fond memories of the uniqueness of the northern plains - people, weather, values, etc. Sarah brings an understanding of that uniqueness because she's lived it ...large!

Vamp: This pol embodies virtually all of the qualities that made us so fond of Reagan. The fact that she's a woman just adds another dynamic to it that a man couldn't.

Ineptitude
George Bush got eaten alive politically by his very own party members who were responsible for putting the time limits on his tax cuts. He also got politically eaten alive in the international community where his "coalition of the willing" has got to be the best joke going.

So, with that in mind, one would think that Republicans would want someone more of the "dog-eat-dog" variety. Like say someone who can navigate the Chicago political waters.

But nooooooooooooo.

Instead, they want a backwater neophyte who hasn't got a clue as to how the vicious game is played.

Great, just great. George Bush lite. Naive and another cowboy. All guns a blazin'!

Bring it on!

Joseph
I hear you and believe me, many of us here are very concerned. I HATE the thought of being considered a blue state. You may not know our Lt Gov and AG are both Republicans.

Also, you need to understand, there are in many respects two Virginia's developing. (Retired Geek would no doubt agree.)

Northern Virginia - Fairfax County, Alexandria and Arlington, are now so large they outweigh virtually all the rest of VA when combined with inner cities and a few leftist enclaves like Charlottesville. Jefferson would be spinning.

NVA today bears little resemblance to the great Commonwealth of VA, but it is not without hope. I know many conservatives being drawn up there for a variety of reasons, and there are a lot of very good churches there which is also a good sign.

So, if you are a praying person, pray for VA, there is still hope.

As an aside, I read a great piece a couple years ago in the VA Historical Society Mag about how Virginia was in bad spiritual shape in the 17th century. To try and rectify the problem they sent to New England - MA in particular - for puritan ministers to come and preach here.

It apparently led to a revivial and turned our forebears back to the "straight and narrow".

This will be an interesting election year here, for sure.

Vampire's Reflection
The Alaskan governor's jet -- purchased by Frank Murkowski for $2.6 million -- was sold through a private brokerage firm for $2.1 million. Sarah did list it on E-bay to broaden the purchase base, but it did sell through the private brokerage firm. My understanding from sources other than the Palin office is that Murkowski overpaid for the jet in the first place, so $2.1 million was probably just about right.

Vamp
Are you telling us you are ok with corruption? Because I don't think there's a politically savvy person who would argue Chicago is as about as politically corrupt as it gets. Do we want that near the White House? It's bad enough in DC as it is without Chicago thugs taking charge.

As far as Palin selling the jet - apparently she put it on E Bay several times with a minimum then sold it to a private concern. Yes, it was for publicity but it also sent this message - the governor of Alsaka is not flying in a private jet anymore. Or having a chef.

What's not to like about that? I thought libs were "men of the people"? Can't you give her credit for giving it up?

Then too, "Ahnold" flies from LA to Sacramento very regularly on a private jet, as he actually lives in LA but works in the capital. How's THAT for wasting jet fuel - especially since he is oh-so-concerned about global warming?

Just what repubs need
Hugh right on.

Repubs must take VA and OH! Then any one of PA, MI, MN or WI and they win! All are close but Sarah could be just the woman to put them over the top.

Might even get part of the unwed mother vote!?

Annie Oakley.....
Sarah Palin is a modern Annie Oakley and the east coast, feminized media "men" and women have their make-up melting.

It's all but over......nothin left but the crying for Barry Hussein and Hairplug Joe.

Monsieur Martel, Vamp;
Charles,
I lived in DC for 2 years in the 80's, so i have some idea of the demographics, but it seems its gotten a lot worse since then. How could that have happened in NVA, since most of the administrations since then have been GOP? Maybe you should do another spinoff, like WVA in 1863?

Vamp: you speak of Sarah not knowing how to play the vicious game; probably true. What she and McCain will do is change the game.

Hey OBAMBIE TROLLERS!
First Sarah Palin kicked your butt...

Last night John McCain kicked your butt..

and now your candidate and all his sexist surrogates are out trying to destroy Sarah Palin...

This after the Obambies went out of ther way to destroy Hillary and even managed to tarnish Geraldine Ferraro as a racist...

You people are despicable and your candidate of change is a disgusting incompetent...

McCain LOVES this country and your candidate hates America...

The American people know authenticity when they see it...

And Obama - with his styrofoam pillars and adoring (m)ASSES - is phony as a plug nickel...

You and your candidate are finished...

NVA
Has slowly become more liberal which I attribute to poor, liberal public education and a larger federal government, beyond the historically more conservative military and intelligence services NVA was known for.

More ominously, I think the DC area epitomizes the creeping fascism which is a significant threat to the US as respects our freedom.

Character v Diversity
The progress our nation has made on the topic of diversity is, surely, the legacy of Martin Luther King Jr. But, he taught us not to judge people based on observable differences – e.g. the color of skin (or the age of skin or the shape of skin). Rather, his instruction was to base judgment on content of character.

Character, then and not diversity seems to be the important consideration in determining the best candidate for President. But, what is character? J.C. Watts Jr., one of my favorite ex-politicians (I do wish he would get back in the game) says, “Character is doing the right thing when nobody’s looking.” I think that makes a great character “yardstick”.

Recently, Alaska’s Governor Sarah Palin learned that her 17-year-old unmarried daughter is pregnant. Quietly, giving being Mom priority over being a politician, Governor Palin provided her daughter the love and support she needed to begin dealing with the young woman’s challenging circumstances. Although the press tried to eviscerate her for it, it made me proud to know that someone with this sort of character is willing to serve us, as a nation.

Sending out the attack Bee-atches

Revealing just how much the Lefties fear Sarah Baracuda, the Obama campaign has found it necessary to compare the top of the Democrat(ick) ticket to the Veep pick on the Repub side.

Perhaps Barak is getting a clearer idea of his pay-grade, and is voluntarily demoting himself.

The fear on the Left is so great, the campaign is now sending out the attack Bee-atches, with the Shrillster herself leading the pack.

They even woke up the group Heart from their drug-induced stupor long enough to point out that the McCain campaign has been using the song "Barracuda" to introduce our own Sarah Barracuda.

Revealing themselves to be the heartless Bee-atches that they are, Heart immediately filed a cease-and-desist lawsuit, to stop the Repubs from using the song.

Too late, gals, the song has already been used to its best advantage, and now instead of enjoying new sales of your albums, you are going to experience a boycott of your CDs by about half of the voters that remember you.

Advice for the Heart-less Ones

Too bad the group Heart doesn't have two brain cells to rub together between the two of them, or they would have waited a week before filing their cease-and-desist lawsuit.

If these idiots has waited just one week, every Republican that watched Sarah Barracuda's speech would have rushed out and bought or downloaded a copy of the album that contains that song.

And since most Repubs tend to be honerable, they would have actually PAID for the album.

Perhaps these doxies don't need any more cash, but I hear the music industry has been suffering from the free downloads on the internet.

The "In Crowd" is Everyone
McCain explodes the boundaries of the clique and welcomes everyone and their ideas in.

Former members and gatekeepers of the "in crowd" are seen sulking in a corner, sniping and sneering. No one in the new large "in crowd" cares.

New rules: You can exclude yourself, but you can't exclude others.

Enjoy!

Joe Biden and the RIAA
Tell all the young padewans you know that Joe Biden has proposed giving $1 billion to the FBI to pursue file sharers on P2P networks. This could be important in quelling the youth vote.

Sarah is Every womans story,
Sarah is the quinessential American woman she's not tagging on her hubby's shirt tails, she's a wife ,a mother, and a successful woman of multiple talents.
Not all women hunt in the traditional sense of the word but they are all hunters. All women hunt for the best way to give the best to their families and get the biggest bang for their buck.
All women these days have to be self reliant to run the household weather they work or not. Everyday strife has made this the rule.Unless you're born and married into the silver spoon set.
Most moms are very involved in their kids lives and are used to mini-mind blowing crisis' and still a mom gives unconditional love and support to their kids.
It's not just in the freeze zone it's here in the south too. I have been talking to other homeschool moms and they're amped up that Sarah is on the ticket.
She's going to motivate a lot of women that were planning to sit this election out.
OVomit is going down and it's going to be a pleasure to watch the destruction. He's the little boy who has his finger in the little hole in the dyke but the walls cracking around the hole..pressures building and gonna blow soon..watch out for the flood it's coming and the McCain/Palin tickets the water!

Good one Hugh
Look at states like WI which had a very narrow margin in 2004. Sarah could make the difference there if the Republicans will hold down the dead Democrat voters.

It is possible also for McLame to take MI, but I think that is a low probability.

In short
Palin is not a lawyer who went from law school into law/politics. She has lived a life, experienced the results of bad govt as the lawmakers haven't, since they protect themselves. We need her and 500 more like her in DC. If she gets in, wouldn't it be great if McCain puts her in charge of dealing with corruption.?

edna, Vic, Charlesmartel1
and the other fine folks imissed, good morning all. Edna, in my limited experience, i know 3 women who are usually vote D who have switched to Palin. all 3 identify with her in everal ways, and all 3 are infuriated by the attacks from the left. All 3 are teachers and one is black. Women generally vote D about 60/40. If it even drops to 50/50, Obama is toast.
Charlesmartel1, are you Charles Martel or Charles the Hammer? I understand they are 2 different people.

Pistol
Good Morning

I think this race is wide open and could be a sweep.

G'Morning Pistol
Your post was right on track! Vic's too.

It's been amazing watching some of the marginal middle ground yuppie-esque voters here in NC are now gearing up to help the GOP ticket.(I'm talking the PB&J types not the ditzy organic granola types)

Since she isn't the "Harvard" elite and has had practical life/political experience on a more personal level it's making her more "real" to a lot of people.
I think that when we wake up on Nov. 5th there's going to be some suprising numbers maybe not landslide but eye opening.

Because Gov. Palin joined the ticket,I have been feeling like one of those "gushy, leg tingling" types and frankly it's very embarrassing but that's how as a everyday normal American woman I've been feeling.
(Very strange feeling I admit.)
I think when the US learns about and sees more Sarah the American people are going to gravitate to her and the more MSM slams her the better because it's going to anger the right and the middle against the left and hopefully awaken the middle to the crisis that America is really in ..value wise.
Done gushing..(hiding face in embarrassment)

Vic,edna,BLACKTYGRRR
Vic, its always been wide open to me, mostly because with all the new variables, i haven't a clue.
edna, you aren't gushing, just enthusiastic. Your viewpoints are especially interesting to me since you coming from a different set of life experiences. The more i think, the better i like the thought of Palin as ThatcherII. She would doubtless expose many women to the feminine benefits of conservatism. Blacktygrrr of 4:11 yesterday has a perceptive point.

Antifreeze
OK let’s get some dialog going here. Hugh, all of us, even in the South are familiar with “antifreeze” which would more properly be called “coolant”. Antifreeze has come a long way since 1927 when it was introduced in 1927 by Preston. It no longer is only a solution to prevent freezing.

Antifreeze is basically ethyline glycall with additives to raise the ph to reduce corrosion in the engine. Today’s modern cooling systems are designed to run under pressure at higher temperatures. What “anti-freeze” does besides prevent freezing of the coolant system is to raise the heat transfer coifficient of the coolant.

In the heat transfer equation involving no phase change; Q = mCp(Tin – Tout) (note with “dots” over the Q and m). Cp is the heat transfer coefficient. Tn-Tout is the delta-T across the radiator and Q is the heat transferred out of the radiator.

Pure water at atmospheric pressure has a Cp of 1.0 which is very good. As you raise the pressure it increases the value. Adding “antifreeze” raises the value even further. If you compare the size of radiators today with the size of 50 years ago you will see a marked decrease in the size due to enhancing the coefficient.

McCain
Let's make a deal, Sir. You promise to resign soon after inauguration and i'll vote for you. I'll even compromise. Resign after 2 years. 2 for you and 2 for Palin. What could be more fair than that?

Palin is hardly perfect
But if she were black, she would be perfect.

Palin isn't perfect, Just Normal
I honestly think that the perfect spot for her is VP, she has a fair chunk to learn about the way things are done in DC and the world.
What I see coming is:(if GOP wins)
Being hampered by a democratic Congress who won't allow anything reasonable to advance (oil drilling judges, etc) It's going to be the next 2 years of her learning and fighting the Nazi Pelosi crowd that will give her the ammo she's going to need.
When the senate/house elections are held next, I think the American people who are sick of the do nothings vote them out and hopefully give the more conservative base a chance.
I think this is when it'll be Sarah's time to shine along with McCain whom she will have hopefully worked hard on to go back to true American Values and Constitutionalism.
The next few years are going to be tough realistically.. If McCain/Palin win they'll be hitting a brick wall of defeated liberals whose golden boy was dented and tarnished and left in a junk drawer.
Nothings going to get done it's going to be a stalemate in the truest sense of the word.
I think by 2012 America will be ready for a conservative majority and maybe just maybe we'll get back to being America.

It isnt just the Anti-freeze belt
Palin has finally said what we've all tried to say and been patronized and ignored. Blue collar America is tired of being kicked around by poorly-educated intellectual liberals and big city corruption. And its not just democrats that we're so sick of-the republican elitists are just as despised out here in the wilds of the midwest. Not just the women, but the men also understand a woman like Palin-because women in the rural areas are tough, accomplished and productive-and we expect equal treatment because we earn it! And, if she actually worked as a commercial fisherman, this is one female truck driver who is impressed!

Now, if she can just make some impact on the Republican party. . .where's her immigration stance, her middle-class jobs position, her farm position, her stance on off-shoring? We might even hold our nose and vote for McCain if she's on the ticket. And, in her spare time in Washington, if she'd just teach Cheney how to shoot. . .

CPR
Not only can Governor Palin hunt and fish, she successfully performed the 'Heimlick Maneuver' on millions of Americans choking on the garbage that mainstream media has been trying to force us to swallow for the last 19 months.

'HAT TRICKS'
Governor Palin knows hockey; she knows how to fight and she knows how to win. She will use her 'verbal' hockey stick to slapshot her opponents. As goalie, she'll be defense for the Republican White House, and on offense she'll score 'Hat Tricks' her opponents never saw coming.

I was not consuming any beverage at the time, but if I had been...

Thank you, fine lady. You made my day!
That is saying something. I have been reading past columns all afternoon, and feeling euphoric about Sarah Palin! Finally, somebody I can vote FOR. John will also get my vote by default.

Pistol...

Hey Pistol,

You owe me a conversation. You fell asleep, and I finished off your dusty jug of Southern Comfort. Yeah, I had a headache the next day, but that was my own fault.

The more I see your posts, the more I like you. You are obviously a pig headed old phart like me.

Hay! I am soon to be retired. I had hoped to work until age of 70, but the 'powers that be' decided to kick my sorry A.. out at 66.

I thought about following your guide and becoming a mentor. I nixed it because, I don't think I am that good of an example. Do we want a generation of people saying "Screw you", or "Stuff It", or "Eat This" ?

OK. I know my language is gross. I no longer care. I Yam what I Yam. kekekekeke... (Pause to suck down a can of Spinach).

I can do what any man can...

IT'S ALL OVER FOR THE POSEUR OBAMA ! !
Obama's summer of love is coming to a painful end ,with the cool ,clear days of Fall..it never was more than a silly schoolgirl crush,a fairy story,a Liberal fantasy!..a hard left Socialist cann't be elected in a center right Country!
Obama is a fraud, charlaton, imposter and poseur..the Republican War Machine is coming to town to DECONSTRUCT the Great Pretender..sunlight is the best disinfectant and Obama is decomposing ,drip by drip!
We are about to witness one of the great political MELTDOWNS...The American Idol will be destroyed in a Dukakis like LANDSLIDE...15 states or less!!Obama's Summer of Love was "Much Ado About nothing"
In retrospect, people will ask "what did we ever see in him?"

OBAMA THE CUNNING SOCIOPATH !
The imposter Obama is the most dangerous political fraud since Huey Long..this Leftist MENACE is a study in seduction, narcisison and self delusion..it's an absolute SCANDAL how this PRETENDER has came this far without been exposed by the Press..The dems are promoters and the MSM the ENABERLARS!
Mainstream America is beginning to wake up to the MENACE OF OBAMA!!

The truth behind the dazzling smile
I believe obama is decidedly a threat to our country if elected president.I believe our security as a country would be compromised, and If he thinks china's so great, he should move there! He can smile, talk about his love for our country all he wants,I think by vurtue of his friendship, mentor Jerimiah Wright,to name a few,and Wrights obvious racist hatred of our country and all that he percieves to be wrong with it,It's hard not to imagine that Barack harbors some of those same views. It will be interesting to hear what he says regarding that, on Bill O'reily tonight.Despite any excuses, downplaying those relationships,I wont be fooled. It matters to me who my children associate with, let alone who might be the leader of our country.
