Will the Dems' health care Christmas Present to America be an improvement or detriment to our health care system?

Radio station WIOD, AM 610, has been the official channel for emergency information from Broward County government for the past year. The County Commission, all Democrats, balked at renewing the deal Tuesday, unable to stomach the station also being home to [Rush] Limbaugh's talk show.

Commissioner Stacy Ritter said she did not want to support a station that's out of step with area politics. Ritter, a Democratic stalwart in the state Legislature before being elected to county office, cited talk shows hosted by Limbaugh and Sean Hannity and WIOD's partnership with Fox News.

--The South Florida Sun-Sentinel, June 13, 2007

And so we reach the inevitable end of the left’s campaign against the First Amendment. The Democrats in Broward County have officially declared themselves as the anti-free speech party. Commissioner Ritter is to be applauded for her candor, for declaring openly what elected Democrats across the country mutter quietly to themselves: “Rush, Sean and the rest must be silenced!”

I have heard of brass-knuckled politics before, but never anything on the order of denying your political opponents news of approaching hurricanes.

When Katrina struck, some wild-eyed lefties accused President Bush of denying relief efforts to New Orleans because the city was predominantly African-American.

Now we have actual proof of Democrats wanting to keep conservatives in the dark about approaching storms.

WIOD is the big news-talk voice on the block in south Florida –the news/talk ratings giant in the region. Those of us in the business know such things. If you want to get the word out about breaking news, you go to WIOD, first. It is where people in the area turn for bulletins.

My program is not on WIOD. The station’s loss, let me assure you, but also an indication that I have no dog in this fight. Professionals tend to be cold-eyed about data, and the data says one thing: If you want to warn south Florida about the approach of a hurricane, you’d better get the message on WIOD.

In the world of talk radio, Rush is Hertz and Sean is Avis. I am happy to be Enterprise, and my colleagues at Salem –Bill Bennett, Dennis Prager, and Michael Medved—will all tell you the same thing. We have vast and wonderful audiences, but not as large as those enjoyed by Rush and Sean. Those are just facts.

The facts ought to be telling the Broward County lefties that they are putting politics ahead of the public interest.

Any serious law professor will also tell the Broward County bigs that what they have done is a blatantly unconstitutional punishment of speech. To bestow a benefit or inflict a punishment on the basis of the political perspective of the citizens involved is outrageous and will be condemned by any serious student of the First Amendment, as liberal Duke University Law School Professor Erwin Chemerinsky blasted the Broward County decision on my show on Wednesday.

What’s next: Instructing the Broward County Fire Department to refuse calls from homes with Romney or Giuliani signs in the yard?

This absurd action from Broward County Democrats is a sign of desperation on the left. Air America has failed. The MSM is bleeding readers and viewers. Tony Blair has produced a scathing indictment of how the left-wing elite media operates. Fox News is thriving. Townhall.com is surging. The blogs of the center-right –from Instapundit, Powerline, and Michelle Malkin through the young college student who just fired up their new site yesterday—are growing and not just in visitors but also in the ability to persuade and not merely enrage. The new media world favors facts and well-made arguments, and the center-right has those, in abundance.

Which means the palsied arguments of the left are going to lose. Which means the left is going to try and stop the discussion, try and censor the debate, try and clamp down on speech.

Broward County is the future. I don’t think the people of Florida or the county will endorse this most un-American decision to silence the speech of the opposition.

ACLU
Let's not hold our breath waiting for the ACLU to come to Sean's and Rush's defense. They are selective in their choice of causes, ignoring the fact that they are the AMERICAN Civil Liberties Union, not the LEFT WING Civil Liberties Union.

Broward is for Politics Not People
The Broward County poo-bahs don't understand business or market forces and they're willing to decline warning the largest audience, preferring to reach less people, BECAUSE THEY DON'T LIKE WHAT THE LARGEST AUDIENCE IS LISTENING TO.

It doesn't seem to have occurred to them that the content of the station is what is drawing the biggest audience. (I will presume listeners are freely choosing to listen.)

The irony is that the left's logic-defying and positively irrational phobias are forces that are abandoning a conservative adult response to dangerous situations, in favor of inciting the emotionally-driven liberals with bad news.

With the uber left at the helm, we can expect panic as a first response in Broward County.

Either way it's irresponsible
To ignore the largest audience in the area during an emergency when radio is the best communications medium is clearly irresponsible behavior for government.

Gotta admit: IF Rush is 'out of step
with local area politics' AND the show really doesn't have any listeners - take it off the air.

Or try.

Knight_of_BAAWA
You make interesting point when you said...

"Actually, Hugh
The decision isn't unconstitutional. The US Constitution says nothing about local governments. It only applies to Congress. Ask Ron Paul--he'll tell you the same thing."

We Conservatives have been saying for years that the U.S. Constitution does not give the Federal Government authority to impede State's rights to govern themselves, and that local governments derive their authority from the State and not from the Federal government. So, from a Conservative stand point, the judgement on whether this is a free speech issue should be based off of interpretations of the Florida Constitution and not the U.S. Constitution.

Good call making that point, but since we live under the Liberal interpretation that the Federal Government trumps all others within the borders of the U.S., Hugh Hewitt would be right.

Rhymes with "Coward"
This is about the silliest thing I've heard since, since, oh, I don't know, since the Democrat wannabes cut off their noses to spite their faces by canceling their debate because it was going to be on Fox - by far the most popular cable news channel.

What's next, Democrats won't drive on the right side of the road???

'Tis truly the silly season.

booboolane
Please don't hide behind myself and the rest of the military. We don't agree with you. We don't love being here(deployed) but at least we understand why we are in Iraq and Afghanistan.

Jurisdiction
I suspect that the Florida constitution has a free speech clause in it somewhere, but "the press" or speech cannot be suppressed by government at any level because the Supreme Court has interpreted the first amendment that way. Many times under many circumstances.
WIOD, however, could cancel Rush or Sean, and put Al Franken on without any problem(Admittedly a dumb move). Only a government can censor.

Talk about negligence
I am so mad I can't see straight. Surely if WIOD has the largest audience in the county it is highest form of negligence to deny this station the information it would need to inform the public in an emergency. Especially if Broward County makes a deal with a station with a smaller audience, can they guarantee that enough people will get the message to minimize loss of life and property damage? Folks there are times when public safety trumps politics. Even if you think that Limbaugh and Hannity are the most evil creatures on the planet, that should have nothing to do with getting emergency information to as many people as possible in the shortest and quickest period of time. To quote the lawyer who had the showdown with Sen. Joseph McCarthy " Have you no shame, sir? At long last have you no shame?"

Hannity Shmannity
This article should have been about how they are afraid of Rush.

Hannity is a bafoon and should quit! I don't care how many listners he has. He MAY can galvanize existing support for conservative principles. And I know he has worked hard for success. But his uninspired, sophmoric debating style is abominable.

He and Alan Colmbes belong together!

We need better guys!

Highest rated = "out of step" ???
If the above article is factual, how would one reconcile the badly flawed logic which declares that the station with the most listeners is "out of step" with area politics?

Considering the ratings, perhaps the Broward County officials should reconsider which side of this issue is "out of step".

hosekuervo
You just spilled your whole arguement as being false by five little words:"more power than they should". That's it, you have shown your true colors. No matter if the words spoken meet with your approval or not, it is not up to you or any political force to determine what talk radio show hosts will be on the airwaves. This is a free market question - not a political question. You may not LIKE the thoughts expressed by someone on radio but neither you nor anyone else can DETERMINE whether or not such thoughts will be expressed just BASED ON YOUR BELIEFS. To achieve those changes, your beliefs must be those that a free market will buy. Guess the free market is not buying the left's beliefs. Well, you can always listen to Air America if you can find it. Liberals always show their true colors when they try to shut down the competition.

fun to debate like a lib
let me try: Hurricane warnings SHOULD be on Rush and Sean's radio station because 30 MILLION babies have been KILLED because of LIBS! LIBS are stupid!

Wow. That IS fun.

Military Man
"Please don't hide behind myself and the rest of the military. We don't agree with you. We don't love being here(deployed) but at least we understand why we are in Iraq and Afghanistan."

What is this about? Trying to get some attention?

SSGTRET
"These hosts, by the by, on a daily basis, shout out support for the brave men and women serving our country."

Nonsense if they cared they would be screaming at the Bush Regime to fuind medical care and accelerate production of enhanced equipment to the troops.

"Sean travels the country in concert with stars, giving shout outs to the family members of those brave souls putting their lives on the line daily."

This is called using the troops and their families for advertising and propaganda. If he really cared at all he would be demanding legislation and funding for these "heros"

"And you pukes on the left want to desparage that. Is there no low that you cowards won't stoop to. Simply amazing."

Well now you are calling names I will just shake my head and suggest that you read: http://www.nytimes.com/2007/06/14/opinion/14thu1.html?_r=1&oref=slogin

SSGTRET
Well that county has certainly grown...

The real reason
the Left is afraid of conservative talk radio is that the hosts blow the libs' cover on a daily basis. If the libs were as honest as they demand everyone else be, Rush et al would be out of business. Further to that, if you libs don't want to listen or are so offended by them, change the channel or turn the radio off, like you're always telling us to do with TV!

Military Man-thank you for your service. Our oldest is in Iraq; you belong to all of us.

AliveInHim
Oh not true. I try and listen to them because I know they are the arguments I will hear. Because their comments are so often half truths and exaggerations they are easy to refute with a bit of research

SSGTRET
All I asked was what it that talkers stats?

As far as: "I cannot for the life of me, understand how you and others would turn charity fundraisers for families of fallen soldiers into a bad thing."

I get very angry when I see things like Walter Reed and those armored vehicles getting ignored or not addressed while so many people put a yellow ribbon on or buy an advertisement Hannity ticket and feel they have done enough. That kind of attitude hurts the troops. I would be all in favor of them if they also demanded proper funding and equipment for the troops. But that is not mentioned.

SSGTRET
" And on top of all that, censor broadcasters and put people in harms way. Excuse me if I just can't understand that."

Here you may well have a point but I am laughing so hard at the outrage of the rightwing propaganda network. But you could well have a point

Well, Well Just Look What Imas Started
Ever since the DODA twins...Sharpton and Jackson...finally, after 30 years, got the now current crop of gut-less boy wonder's running the airwaves and veiwways...to give dem a 'lil uhspec..."The Left Wing" (socialist)...think the door is now open for them to shut down the voices that don't agree with them...they just flat don't understand us do they?

By the way,,I miss ole Imus, He could pull their chain on his show and they were so stupid they never recognize it.

later
I have a meeting but should return in a few hours

censors
daer booboollane , And all the rest of you whining cowards on the left.Everytime you scream about free speech now we have another item to point to! Yeah, free speech(uh except for conservatives)Rush is not pro war anymore than i am , and i served 4 years as a marine. However distasteful it may seem to you on the left, We need adults in power who take threats to this country seriously and will act(not react)to them.Your party is more worried about advancing the socialist agenda than keeping america safe and secure. We on the right are NOT anti immigrant, or racist,or homophobic,as you like to paint us!We just want to be left alone to work and raise a family without assholes telling us what to eat, how to think.etc...etc....

Good Job Hugh,
But it is nothing new. The liberals and Democraps (my bad - redundant) have always been about controlling the airwaves. Since they have all of the TV news and Newspapers they want talk radio also. They are epitomized by groups like the ACLU. They will fight like mad for “rights” as long as those rights benefit them or their philosophy.

it's sensorship,period
Welcome to Venezuela

Hose etc
The original premise of the article was Broward County's ( the gang that couldn't hang chads) decision to not use WIOD for Emergency Broadcasts. To not use the station with the largest number of listeners regardless of their political leanings or yours borders on the criminal. Bet they will decide to tell PBS but not FOX about it. :) (That's a joke.)

Rusn and Sean Do Scare Them
Rush Limbaugh and Sean Hannity do scare the Left and the left wing mainstream media becaue they are intelligent, persuasive, interesting, forthright and effective in their advocacy of sensible conservative views and their skewering of liberal nonsense. A truly free marketplace of ideas, Rusn and Sean are superior and drive out the left wingers by consumer choice.

Libs
can almost win debates when there is no oposition. They look pretty stupid when there is competition.

Exchange of right and left
I think it was Jonah Goldberg who said he'd trade what the right has in terms of media for what the left has.

The left has the three network tv stations, while the right has to make do with cable.

The left has NPR, which is government funded and on FM, while the right has to use AM radio, which few voluntarily listen to.

The left has the NY Times, while the right has...I guess the Wall Street Journal, which is a business rather than a general-interest newspaper.

Hal Donahue, et. al: Do you want to trade? Would you really like NPR to be on the right, so that you can have a Rush of the left?

I bet not.

better than paid advertising
There's not enough money in the bank to buy the kind of advertising that Broward County has brought to the Democratic Party. Make no mistake: The only thing that Democrats care about is the Party.

The Party. Remember the old USSR, when you couldn't function as an ordinary citizen if you didn't belong to the "Party."

Rush is the Man
The first time I ever heard of Rush was in 1993 or 94 during his TV show. I just happened to turn it on one night...and there it was "my voice", until this man came along I never really had a voice, and I am 70 yrs old. I listen to Rush because he agrees with me, not because I agree with him. Sean is ok, but he can't sell the song like the maestro.

The Left has no maestro, just a bunch of off-key choir persons.

Hal
"Nonsense if they cared they would be screaming at the Bush Regime to fuind medical care and accelerate production of enhanced equipment to the troops."

You're such a smart man, surely you know that all spending bills originate in the House, not with the President. It's not the president's fault that the war isn't being funded properly. It's the house of representatives. And who is in charge of congress presently? Hmmmm?

But back to the point of the article. Hewitt is right about the politicians putting politics before public safety. It's silly, childish, and dangerous. PP

Fontessa
Right on the button! As you know doubt know, the dem party has been far more interested in party than country since the mid-60's. One thing's for sure, you don't want to disturb their karma.

oops
Would you believe, " no doubt"?

Broward County and Chaves of Venezuela
Broward County Commissioners are smart learners of how to snuff out the opposition. They are doing the same as Col. Chaves of Venezuela, when he snuffed out the only Venezuelan TV station that opposed his ungodly regime. That is truly Democracy at its best, isn't it? I am proud of Broward County. Great Americans!

Well, it's a moot point now.
It looks like Broward County commissioners are backing off.

http://www.sun-sentinel.com/news/local/broward/sfl-ccane14jun14,0,3927815.story?coll=sfla-news-broward

Of the competitive advantages WIOD offers compared to other potential stations, as cited in the article.

* WIOD has a particularly strong signal.

* WIOD has several sister stations who would also air the emergency broadcasts.

* WIOD was willing to guarantee live coverage.

To quote Kristin Jacobs, a Democrat commissioner who was absent during Tuesday's meeting but supports the use of WIOD:

"If your roof gets blown off, do you really care if the radio station that is giving you the information that you need also carries Rush Limbaugh? I don't think so. I don't agree with that man's philosophy and I don't listen to him, but I'm not going to not choose WIOD because of it."

Why they scare me
Rush and Sean and the Salem boys do scare me. They scare me because they are professional brainwashers and they are destroying this country by ripping it apart at the seams.

The seams I'm referring to are the seams of truth.

These people regularly lie about factual information: For example, they tell their listeners that we found the WMDs; they tell them that there were ties between Iraq and al Queda; they tell them that Joe Wilson, not Scooter Libby, is the liar; they tell them that it's the environmentalists, not the oil companies who are restricting refining capacity; they tell that Islam is a threat to our country's very existence; they tell them that global warming is a hoax concocted by socialists; they tell them not to believe the MSM, we're actually winning in Iraq.

They also love to take a few nut jobs on the far left and try to paint the whole left with the same broad brush.

They also paraphrase positions on the left in the most unfair ways; saying that the reason they like public transportation, for example, not because of efficiency, but because THEY WANT TO CONTROL YOUR LIVES.

Before these blowhards hit the airwaves, I don't think the country was nearly so fixated on what divides us. Now, it's all anyone seems to be able to think about anymore.

And they claim to be pro-family, but their strategy of brainwashing everyone into believing that the Republican party is infallible and the left is evil (more dangerous than terrorists if you listen to Prager) is ripping families apart. Americans come to Thanksgiving dinner with two completely separate views of reality, and then they wonder why the other "just doesn't get it".

The only thing that can repair the damage done is the truth. But I'm not hopeful, particularly after what we witnessed with the Libby verdict. Hey, screw the truth, Libby is a high ranking Republican and this verdict reflects poorly on the Party so by God we must protect him. Blame Wilson!

Yup, Rush and Sean and the Salem boys and girls scare the crap out of me. And I'm sure nothing delights them more.

Phylo out.

Agreed

Don't call them Liberal
I have for several years decided to quit calling those who think of themselves as liberal or progressives anything other than what they really are and that is Leftists. The reason the Democrat party is afraid of people like Rush, Sean, Hugh, and any number or other conservative talk show host is not so much that they disagree with the message, but want to stifle it. To the Left, free speech ends with any speech that they disagree with. Almost all the major media is in their pockets. We, as taxpayers, fund one of the most Leftist forms of media in NPR. I know, because I listen to it quite a bit in the winter riding up with my carmate, who thinks of himself as liberal, but is again a Leftist.

We, unfortunately are standing on a slippery slope. If we elect one of the Democrat buffoons in '08, and keep the Congressional makeup the same as it is, we are staring down the barrel of socialized healthcare, higher energy costs, lower wages, inflation, and the general increase of the nanny state. It may not be so bad if we can change the makeup of the Congress to have Hillary or Obama as president, but we can scarcely afford even two years of Hillary and Pelosi.

Kirstin=Libermann
Kirstin Jacobs should be careful. By expressing rational though, she may end up exiled like Joseph Lieberman.

This is new?
Political correctness(sic) started back in the 60's. I know, I lived through them. As a common tactic, leftists regularly would use any means they could to interfere with the exercise of free speech by any conservative. The real mantra of the left concerning speech is "you are free to agree with us, otherwise, STFU".
josekuervo, you who can't even spell the name you usurped for your handle correctly, sunshine is the ultimate disinfectant. I have for decades argued with those who seem obsessed with silencing political opponents (neonazis in this case) . My point is that objectionable opinions will be exposed by expressing them. Your professed fears can be broken down into three components. First, the opinions of Rush & Sean are more popular than yours(radio and TV are all about the ratings- the more listeners the higher the ad rates). Second, they stimulate debate. Third, and most importantly your greatest fear is that they might be right.

Simply not true Congress provided the funds the bush vetoed it. They did get some funding in for vehicles, Walter Reed, the Guard which buch just signed but called excess spending. This regime submits a funding request to Congress and Congress considers it and adds or subtracts from it. The last Congresses just rubber stamped the budgets and sold out the military

Knight of BaaWaaBy the incorporation doc
Actually, you are wrong about the 1st Amendment and its application to the states.

By the incorporation doctrine, the United States Supreme Court has held that most, but not all, guarantees of the federal Bill of Rights limit state and local governments as well as the federal government through the Due Process Clause of the Fourteenth Amendment. States have been required to respect freedom of speech, press, and religion, and most of the other guarantees. They have not been required to provide jury trials in civil cases or indictment by grand jury, however.

Best way to silence Rush
Hey Phylo, Hal Donahue, and others:

The best way to silence Rush is to ensure that the mainstream media is fair and balanced, which it currently is not.

To take just one example, the MSM long ago decided that 9/11 was all our fault. I've been pointing out the flaw in this reasoning ever since I first heard it, namely that militant Muslims are attacking many other people and groups besides us.

So why not, instead of taking a stand, have the MSM be neutral? Instead of ramming a certain viewpoint down our throats, why not have debates? Prominent people on both sides could be asked to contribute opinion pieces, and then readers could make up their own minds.

In such an environment, Rush might still be around, but he would have a lot fewer listeners, because conservatives would feel that the MSM was listening to them.

remember
The Democrats presidential candidates* tell us they are tough enough to stand up to Islamofacists but at the same time they are afraid to face debate questions from BRIT HUME.

*-at least the ones who say the threat isn't a bumper sticker slogan

Lets go over the WMD thing one more time: Saddam didn't prove he destroyed them. He failed to comply with the ceasefire agreement. We had every right to go in there. To have 'lied' you have to be certain of the truth and say otherwise. Shall I post the litany of quotes from Democrats about Saddam's WMDs?

Hal Donahue
The MSM is horribly unfair. Your opinion is wrong. I already pointed out how they could become fair, by being neutral on many issues. (You didn't respond to this, by the way.) Instead, they insist on taking stands on issues that are still up for debate.

Hal Donahue
Of course it decided that 9/11 was our fault. I have never once seen an article in, say, the NY Times Magazine that has contradicted this, though it has had articles saying it was our fault.

Do you have some proof for your claim?

Hal Donahue
Plus, the MSM has definitely taken a stand on global warming, which it agrees with implicitly, while giving no voice to those of us who have expressed skepticism.

JFP
Do you have proof? And one article isn't enough. The only ones I have heard say it was our fault are Robertson, Falwell and who is that other preacher out in Kansas?

JFP
As far as global warming goes being anti is a fringe position at this point. It would be the same as giving equal time to people who think the world is 8,000 years old or that the US did not land on the moon. You do have to draw a line somewhere

JFP
Now there is a position as to what to do about it or should we try etc those are valid.

Local VA hospitals in trouble - Accreditation threatened as inspectors cite ‘immediate threat to life’
M. ALEXANDER OTTO; The News Tribune Published: June 14th, 2007 01:00 AM
Veterans Affairs hospitals and clinics in Western Washington are in danger of losing their accreditation after inspectors discovered an “immediate threat to life” in the health care system in May, according to the group that inspects the nation’s hospitals.

The finding came during a routine inspection of Veterans Affairs Puget Sound Health Care System’s facilities at the American Lake VA Hospital in Tacoma, the VA Medical Center in Seattle and the VA outpatient clinic in Bremerton.

The Joint Commission on the Accreditation of Health Care Organizations, a Chicago-based group that polices the quality of care in the nation’s 5,000-plus hospitals, inspected the facilities May 14-17.

The commission issued a “preliminary denial of accreditation” May 17, a commission vice president, Joe Cappiello, said this week"

What is the backstory here?

New Topic??
Well, since the liberal trolls have somehow got around to changing the topic from Democrat assaults on the 1st amendment to Bush and Iraq I'll add another one to the list, Traitor Murtha and the Lying 110th congress.

It seems that contrary to the promises made by the Democrat weasels in the 06 election earmarks abound. Particularly from the weasal Murtha. He wants to transfer critical functions for fighting terrorism to an office in his district that the FBI wants to shutdown due to incompetence.

Hal Donahue
So who was it after 9/11 who was saying, "Why do you think they hate us?" Virtually no one said this after Pearl Harbor, but that was said often after 9/11. The general notion behind that question was that it was all our fault. That was a view that was promoted by the left, and was taken up by our media.

And I've never seen them back off from that position.

As for skepticism about global warming being a fringe position, in your dreams. Lots of people are skeptics. It's just that the MSM won't acknowledge them. Plus, there are plenty of other people who WOULD BE SKEPTICS if they saw a fair and balanced presentation of the topic, which they never do because they rely on the MSM instead of other sources.

Finally, in an earlier post, you said that the MSM is fair, and then added, "in my opinion." What if lots of people disagree with you? Do their opinions count?

Hal Donahue

Somehow I will trust a national hero and proven friend of the military like Murtha over the Bush regime anyday. Has this administration done anything competantly yet and the no fly list???? Heck you or I could do better than this regime has done.

Mr Hal Donahue
Your credibility leaves a lot to be desired ... Why would anyone suggest reading the NYT for factual info? That's a complete joke but the sad part is, there is no punchline.

Knight...
I'm assuming you were attacking me and not JSP. Whatever the 9/11 Commission says, I know perfectly well that al-Qaida has targeted India as well the U.S., even though India has no presence in the Middle East (unless you count exploited workers in the Gulf region).

Plus Muslim militants have targeted many other groups. With each different group, there is a different "reason" given. But when you look at the forest rather than the trees, it's easy to see what's going on, namely militant Muslims think that they should be running everything and ruling over everyone. The particular reasons for each conflict don't mean anything.

To Hal Donahue
Somehow I knew you would come out to defend Murtha. Duke Cunninham was a national hero also, are you going to defend him as well? Hell, I served in the military and am a vet also. Does my opinion count for more because of that?

The fact is that Murtha has given up any credibility he had a long time ago. As far as I am concerned he has sunk almost to the same level as Kerry. The only thing keeping him from the Kerry level is that, so far, he hasn't gone over to Iraq and actually discussed options with Al Queda.

exposing Scamnesty
Check out Lou Dobb's web site here:

http://www.cnn.com/CNN/Programs/lou.dobbs.tonight/

Lou's Top 5 List:

Top 5 Dumbest Things in the Immigration Bill

5) Taxpayers will pay for the immigration lawyers for illegal aliens if working in agriculture.

4) Illegal aliens would be given legal status just one day after their application is filed even if a background check is not completed.

3) Gang members are eligible for amnesty if they renounce their gang status.

2) Borders do not have to be secure before the amnesty program begins.

1) $2,600,000,000,000 -- That is the cost the Heritage Foundation estimates to cover the retirement benefits of 12,000,000 illegal aliens if this amnesty bill becomes law.

Lou's current column (worth a read) suggesting that Presidente Jorge back off (as another great American Sen. Sessions effectively told Jorge):
http://www.cnn.com/2007/US/06/12/Dobbs.June13/index.html

As information, Lou grew up "dirt poor" but graduated from Harvard in Economics on merit. Like Ann Coulter, he is a lightning rod because he too speaks the inconvenient truths that the reconquista crowd is loath to hear, becuase it gives lie to their litany of disingenuous drivel with its ulterior agenda. One of their favorite ploys is the hackneyed ad hominem calumny that he is a "racist" or "xenophobe"... au contraire, his wife of many years is a LEGAL Latino-American (indeed, Mexican heritage).

Proof is in the Puttin'
Puttin' up barricades to deny, their breeding stock, access to genes not mutated in their incubator. An incubation process, the left uses,to create stock hobbled at birth. The barricades are needed, and positioned, to continuously direct the stock, absent the required genes.Barricades are also created, and positioned,to hobble, and deny the stock access to the pureblood, thoroughbred, morgans. The diminishing stock, running free, outside the narrow barricades.A proud, strong, and sturdy stock, with liberties to run free, and pass their genes on to future generations of morgans. The left often interrupts this stock with anesthesia, and syringe,in hand. They venture ouside of their self imposed barricades to take of the morgans life blood. Then return to their incubator in order to process, and remove, qualities they find repugnant to their ideal stock. This, ever increasing, incremental removal of the morgans life blood, has had a devastating effect on the stocks population. Those on the left, who draw the blood, also process, and inject, the cleaned fluid into their birth stock. The syringes, processing machines, and enviroment, are never sanitized. They imagine their sanitized enviroment is a self-sanitizing process. When they, liberally, return to draw blood from the purebreds they liberally inject decaying matter living on the needles suface. The once docile purebreds are now revolting, has they see their numbers dwindle. This purebred stock threatens the left has they seek to construct stronger, and higher barricades. The left moves to keep the Rush of purebreds from destroying the barricades, and Sean(tering) in, with lifes blood. Entering to excite, and remove the hobbles from their stock,by injecting the missing genes that enable complete freedom. Freedom from self-imposed barricades guiding the stocks behavior, while limiting its freedoms, and liberties.

top 10 problems with Scamnesty ruse
http://vdare.com/misc/070607_economist.htm

The above is a literate analysis of the GLARING, EGREGIOUS flaws in the pending Scamnesty legislation. The new Rasmussen makes pretty clear that almost 3/4 of us want REAL ENFORCEMENT first and foremost:

http://www.rasmussenreports.com/public_content/politics/just_26_favor_senate_immigration_plan

Some key excerpts from Rasmussen:
________________________________________________

The enforcement side of the debate is clearly where the public passion lies on the issue. Seventy-two percent (72%) of voters say it is Very Important for “the government to improve its enforcement of the borders and reduce illegal immigration.” That view is held by 89% of Republicans, 65% of Democrats, and 63% of unaffiliated voters.

Advocates of “comprehensive” reform have taken to arguing that those who want an enforcement-only policy must explain how they would deal with the 12 million illegal aliens already living in the country. The public reaction to that question appears to be “Why?” Only 29% of voters say it is Very Important for “the government to legalize the status of illegal aliens already in the United States.”

Murtha built his entire career supporting the military and as a military expert in congress. He was GW's man in Congress. He is a retired Marine Colonel. He was the Darling of you people until he refused to lie about the War in Iraq and the War against terrorists. Now it does not matter if he was right or wrong (I have little doubt he was right); he stood up and honestly spoke his believe. For that simple, honest act, he was viciously and personally attacked by the very folks who were his best friends. You conservatives talk about Bush being strong and standing for his beliefs but try to gut a real hero like Murtha when he does the same. All that does is expose what you people are really about and it isn't freedom or county.

You are a vet and you opinion counts. I am a vet and my opinion counts. But I honestly weigh Jack Murtha's 30 + years as a military expert more than either of our opinions. I suspect that is exactly why he is being so personnaly and viciously attacked

To HalD
Like all Democrat Party elite, you think that history starts every morning at 08:00 and the rest of us don't have a memory. Murtha has voted against just about every miltary spending program that has been offered up in congrerss in the last decade. he attacked the Hadith marines as guilty before any evidence was presented and before the military had even done an investigation. He is a liar and a fraud and his record has demonstrated that he does NOT support the military. He is like Duke C. He may have been good once, but he has gone over to the dark side.

Vic
"Like all Democrat Party elite,"

Sorry I am not one of the elite just a poor old military pensioneer fighting for what I see as the best for my country.

And it would seem you think he went over to the dark side the minute he spoke out against the war in Iraq? Yeah that sounds right.....

I love Rush... He is a drug addict, liar and racist and I am sure I am missing someother good points. I want him out there every day showing what you folks are and where you are coming from.

Rush
I sounds sappy but I can remember the first time I heard Rush in 1990. Rush was making fun of Ted Kennedy - my first reaction was he can't make fun of a policitian like that. But I soon learned that radio parody was the modern equivalent of Nast political cartoon from the 19th century (get of over Obama the magic Negro - it was a parody of a lefty's newspaper opinion debating whether he is black enought) - it wasn't rascist (the lefty's article may have been). Rush is funny, entertaining and thought provoking. Ultimately the left fears any media they can't control - the comparisons to Chavez (look under Putin) and the totalatarian rulers of the past is frightening. I read and listen to a variety of opinions left and right (I usually land right) but democracy requires free speech (however it doesn't require anyone to listen to you) - and the end of the day these hardcore socialist leaning democrats can't stand the competition of ideas. Heaven help our nation if the average person can't listen to a wide range of opinion and choose their own beliefs.

MAN!
Silly liberal moonbats are out in force today, aren't they. They're busy defending those who hate free speech, and especially busy changing the subject and attacking people they can't mentally compete with.

This is funny.

Mental Midgets
The funny thing about this story is that the Dems are so stupid that they admit the infringment on free speech openly. We all know the Dems are all for freedom of speech until someone disagrees with them, but to openly admit it? Congrats all you Dems, you are officially the party of ignorant morons!!!!!

Knight of BaaWaa
A literal interpretation of the Constitution would make you and Ron Paul correct. Unfortunately, the Supreme Court, through its "incorporation doctrine' declared otherwise. As far as I can tell, the opinion of the US Supreme Court trumps that of Ron Paul. As a conservative Republican I consider Ron Paul to be the Dennis Kucinich of the Republican party.

http://www.democrats.org/a/2006/04/dnc_announces_v.php

You may be right about one thing though. My disgust with Murtha did not manifest itself until he began showing up on the news speaking out against the war. This is because I didn't know he existed prior to that. After looking at his record and seeing more of the things he did it became obvious that he is a traitor. He in fact voted FOR the war resolution and going into Iraq, and like most of the Dems began speaking out against it as soon as the election was over.

As I said the other day. The time to speak out against the war was before the vote and the war started. Once the war has started all critques should be only those concerning how the war is being fought and those should be done behind CLOSED doors.

Hrm
*He is a drug addict, liar and racist *

you forgot "100 times smarter than I am, which is why I make up lies and slander the man"

I've never understood why liberals make so much hay about talk radio- if you don't want to listen to it, change the channel. Do you really think YOU have the right to tell ME what I Can listen to ?

Hint : you don't.

So what's the subject again?
This episode is part of a disturbing growing trend among the left: attempts to silence those who disagree with them. It used to be that in only happened on college campuses and in the classrooms of a few overzealous high school teachers. But now actual county government officials wanted to punish a radio station for airing opinions they didn't like. Fortunately in this case more clear-headed officials intervened and WIOD's advantages in getting the word out in an emergency have trumped partisan politics, at least for now. But with the Speaker of our own House of Representatives having tried to pass a bill that would have piled on undue extra requirements on churches expressing their opinions, and with liberal college students now running out speakers they don't agree with like so many brown-shirted thugs, who knows what the future may hold. Though I suppose in their eyes, oppression is a nice and happy thing that will lead us all to enlightenment, at least when it comes from them.

Rush and Journalistic Integrity
I was unable to tune in Rush Limbaugh on my home radio then finally one day I found him on the car radio. Here is what he was saying at that moment: That then-President Bill Clinton and his wife had murdered Vince Foster. Not "some people think that" or "some evidence might suggest that " but: they did it. No such accusation was ever proved in a court of law, but that didn't stop Rush Limbaugh, who apparently knows what Hitler's propaganda officer Josef Goebbels knew, that a lie repeated often enough will be believed by the populace.

I did not expect ever, in the United States, to hear "freedom of speech" used as a defense of a slanderous lie on the public airwaves but the ethos of the Republican Right Wing has changed all that.

Free Speech
For those of you who were'nt listening in your American government class, in order to gain admission to the union, each new state had to RATIFY the U.S. Consitution: in effect, acknowledging its supremecy. Included in the Constitution is a provision declaring IT and federal laws(that do not conflict with the Consitution), are: "The law of the land". In other words, a States' laws cannot deny the rights guaranteed by the U.S. Consitution.

By the by, what was that poll from last night:
Bush 33% approval,
Democrat led congress 27% approval(down from when the republicans led congress 36% right before the democrats took over).

to P2
Excuse me? Until Molly Ivins recently died, every time her column appeared in my local newspaper we saw letters to the editors from conservatives demanding that her (anti-Bush) column be discontinued otherwise they would cancel their subscriptions. However, I never saw a single letter to the editor from a liberal demanding that Charles Krauthammer, Kathleen Parker, or Jonas Goldberg be discontinued. Meanwhile it is conservatives who specialize in economic boycott to force their will on others (French wine because of Iraq, Spice Girls music because of criticizing Bush, Disney anything because of allowing gay partner benefits, Whirlpool because they donated to Planned Parenthood, etc).

If you suggest that the left has invented something by using its clout, you make yourself ridiculous.

Question?

Why would the ACLU need to be involved?
I'm not seeing it. Please explain.

Also, please explain why the ACLU offered to defend Fred Phelps, if, as you say, it is the left-wing civil liberties union.

ACLU Founder Roger Baldwin
"I am for socialism, disarmament, and ultimately for abolishing the State itself as an instrument of violence and compulsion. I seek the social ownership of property, the abolition of the propertied class, and sole control of those who produce wealth. Communism is the goal."

Roger Baldwin, founder of the American Civil Liberties Union.
Quoted in the National Federation for Decency Journal, September 1988. Page 9.

Their track record is overwhelmingly to removing all who do not agree with their founder's stated goals. They wish to fight or subdue anyone who has Christian values and who are for the United States Constitution. They wish to remove all references of God from the Public Square. Period

If you could explain how the "ethos" of the right-wing has changed the FCC (except for getting rid of the silly "equal" time rule), I would be grateful. Also, to me, the success of an "economic" boycott seems like the most American thing since apple pie. Hmmm, citizens showing their dislike for something by NOT BUYING a product. What could be more democratic than that? I could care less who we're giving credit to for the idea, but my vote goes to the British colonists who threw tea into Boston harbor. I know who the are and I know VA's are good if you can get in them. I did not rant I asked what was really going on

lilly, there's a difference
The stuff you cited, like it or not, is protected by the First Amendment and part of the democratic process. I'm actually not a big fan of those sort of complaints, not do I like boycotts. They seem borne of an idea that some speech is a threat if it should see the light of day. While the implulse is bad, complaints are also protected by the First Amendment and no one can force people to buy something they don't want to buy, no matter the reason.

The stuff I cited is different. Free speech and boycotts, even if I don't like them, are one thing. Using government power to silence others is quite another (read: unconstitutional). Threats of violence are quite another (read: illegal).

You're right to point out that the insecure impulse to silence others comes from both sides of the political debate. I would hope that you'd recognize that there's a qualitative difference between actions like complaints, threats of cancelled subscriptions and boycotts and using the power of government and threats of violence.

Why Do Rush And Sean Scare Them So?
Because they are COWARDS who CANNOT compete in The Marketplace. Air America failed! The Liberal/Gay/Communist Agenda consistently gets trashed at the ballot box. So the only way they can win is to silence their opponents or make their opponents ILLEGAL!

the under the auspices of the FCC, i.e., the U.S. Government because they cross state lines so, therefore smartypants, silencing the use of a particular radio station for public service announcements DOES fall under the spectrum of the United States Constitution.

Sorry to burst your bubble, even though you did actually want it both ways as usual.

Sean Hannity isn't an opponent to them. He's on the same BIG government train that the socialists in the Democratic party is on. Hannity never saw an expansion in the federal government that he didn't like.

It's a weak case Hewitt makes
Hannity and Limbaugh are both highly-rated, and if the county chooses not to use that station for its emergency broadcasts, I hardly think that that is a big enough stick to chase either show from the Broward County airwaves. Chances are, if the decision does force the station to dump either show (not very likely), there is sure to be a competitor waiting in the wings to snap them up. The advertizing dollars are too attractive.

BTW, I think Limbaugh and Hannity are both more entertaining than informative. I think discussion reaches a more detailed level on Michael Medved's show, and on Bill Bennett's show.

You say "We are not talking enough we are talking about ignoring problems that can be fixed and aren't. Every time I go to Walter Reed I return in a rage at what this regime is doing or in this case not doing for the troops. The VA is good very good but needs far better funding."

-- According to Ike Skelton last week, the House Armed Services Committee has authorized more than $5.1 billion for body armor and industry infrastructure since 2001 - a statistic of which he was justifiably proud. However, since the Democrats have only been in charge of this committee since 2007, wouldn't that suggest the GOP deserves the lion's share of credit for this accomplishment? Or are you taking issue with Chairman Skelton's remarks?

"According to Ike Skelton last week, the House Armed Services Committee has authorized more than $5.1 billion for body armor and industry infrastructure since 2001 - a statistic of which he was justifiably proud."

Didn't the continuing resolution authorize over 2 billion for armored vehicles? I will not even bother to research but that could be a correct number but it wasn't enough and did not meet the requirement. In WWII when we faced a threat of what you folks and the Bush Regime say is the same magnitude we mobilized the economy and even built factories when required to meet production requirements. Bush says it costs too much I want you folks to go shopping and put ribbons on meanwhile we will cut back on medical care for the troops and their families. Want me to go on?

Oh Huffington doesn't either but you know what you just gave me an idea for a few words there.... I know a commissary and 23 other services being cut as not needed because they serve guard and reserve troops who literally do not count, I know that Walter Reed has slashed care for pediatrics because they do not have nurses available and last but not least the Administration is waffling on a site for a military cemetery and want to move it from historic ground to a polluted sight next to a prison...

Hal Donahue, too funny...
"Hugo was helped into his powerful position when Bush's coupe failed.... remember that?"

World politics affected because the President's car broke down?

Learn how to spell, mook.

Oh, and perhaps you should read something other than far-left "news" papers. Marxist and neo-marxist organizations are well-known for concocting anti-western "news" for propaganda purposes; their ideology contains no sense of wrongdoing when lying to destroy capitalists. Hard leftists are the only ones who take seriously Chavez's accusation about the US being involved in that coup attempt.

They've already caved.

Hannity and Limbaugh are both highly-rated, and if the county chooses not to use that station for its emergency broadcasts, I hardly think that that is a big enough stick to chase either show from the Broward County airwaves.
But a "oxymoron".

Radio station WIOD likely will remain Broward County's official channel for emergency information despite concerns it is also home to conservative talk show host Rush Limbaugh.

County commissioners said they were deluged with complaints from throughout the country Wednesday after they questioned whether to cut their ties with the station because of their dislike for Limbaugh. By the end of the day, a majority of commissioners vowed to renew WIOD's agreement next week.

Hal Donahue,unarmed and dangerous!
You label yourself as,"just a poor old military pensioneer ",and I respect your service that allowed you to collect this pension.Has I also understand that, most military pensions, alone,do not allow people to fully pursue their passions. The need for supplemental income becomes a necessity. A necessity, usually based on an entitlement program, the left derives their power from. These programs are a tool of the left, used to bribe the masses. It is not an outright bribe, but a covert bribe. There rhetoric draws, and sustains,a base in fear of losing property if the property giver were not at the head.In turn this maintains the poor, who are blinded by their passions, unwilling to recognize a spade, and call it a spade.A digging instrument whose sole purpose is to turn up soil enriched, and planted by others.

Just Wondering......

Do you dare to suggest that Hugo is not beloved by all his people even as he steals their land and jails his critics? As much as the people here don't like him, in Venezuela millions HATE HIS GUTS.

Don't try to complicate Hal's life, echo chambers are easy on the mind.

We've been watching for years...
... and it's simply beyond disputing that the American left hates free speech. Their every act announces that given the chance, they'll make discussion of conservative ideology illegal.

The crowning act was when they got their minions in the US Senate to threaten the revocation of ABS's broadcast license if the network DARED to air a drama that was critical of the Clinton administration.

True or not true may be debatable, but the American Left tries to prevent that debate by shutting up anybody who disagrees with them.

This latest is just another data point, one among thousands.

Did I actually type that?
ABC, not ABS.

What a Gutless Wonder!

I understand now
I wondered how the fine conservative movement crashed and burned into the pitiful remnants we see here and in the current regime. I think I have it. Actions became disconnected from consequences and when that happened their sense of responsibility and accountability died...the rest is history

FYI
Chavez is a disaster for his country. But we are more or less ignoring it just like we are ignoring the war on terror because we are trapped in the Iraq desert.

MORE POPULAR
The reason they are scarrred is that RUSH and HANNITY are more popular than the whole DEMOCRATIC BASE. Before these two were here you never heard a word from the Conservative base. The DEMS would not allow it. That is why for 40 years the DEMS ruled this country. now the people have a choice. Freedom of Speech is a powerful thing that the DEMS would love to take away from the CONSERVATIVES. Watch out talk radio because you are all next. Silence the voices and the people will fold. What they should be worried about is their rating that is lower than the PRES. Dont forget that we voted these knukleheads into office for Change. What happened to my (100 Day PLAN) NANCY P.

jessicalange
Yep, they're on a "gajillion" stations around the country because they make people sick. Just the other day I was desperately trying to figure out a way to get sick when it hit me that Rush was on the radio. Eureka, I was hooked. Leftist censorship
Please stop the malarky about rightist censorship in the USA. For 50 years, in the MSM, censorship has been an agenda-inspired liberal effort when dealing with GOP, Christian, conservative worldviews. On this, there is now no debate. It is liberals who stop conserv-rel., GOP speakers on the campuses of our great schools. It is liberals who do not let films such as Frank Gaffney's view of jihadist Islamofascim. It is liberal groups like the NEA which sets curriculum standards and teachings, not conservatives in our state schools. Even in art, liberals run the show and when the public cries out against their 'porn' affectations in supposed art, the libs cry back, hayseeds, jerks, fascists. The Left loves to use the term Nazi . Perhaps nowadays we ought to start calling them commies, socialists, like in those bad old days in the 1950's, which the Left so abhor and fear. Talk Radio, bloggers, Fox actually bring relief from the Leftist monolithic ideology. No wonder we realize that McCain -Feingold is actually un-Const. And the Left loves it so it can censor its opponents.

Paulie
I loved it LMAO. But please don't tell me you are comparing the situation today to WWII and one of the greatest warlords (FDR) in history. The US people and economy were mobilized, the government controlled the economy, there was a huge draft which affected every level of society and taxes were and stay very high.

No compare this to Bushie's actions? I am just sitting her shaking my head

"My my....the liberal warm embrace of loving all humanity and showing tolerance to everyone human being, always brings a tear to my eye...."

Honestly, Rush having been addicted to pain killers doesn't make me find him any less deserving of his radio popularity.

Banned from public schools are any programs, depictions, that appear to promote religious belief. Banned,by way of labor factions beholding to the left, a full exposition of truths concerning this nations, the worlds history. Banned, the right of parents to chose when, and how, their children learn of immoral human behavior, and its detrimental consequences. Banned, programs that teach personal behavior is not a personal right protected by the Bill of Rights.

Hal...
Since when has the left (Democraps) ever cared about responsibility or accountablility?

BANNED ...
,.....a banner that said "In God We Trust" on the wall of a school history class. It had been there for decades until the ACLU decided it should come down. I guess it should be taken off our money. It's OK to teach Islam and put "foot washing" accomodations in public colleges, but NO Christian symbols allowed.

Walter Reed
Whatever problems there are/were with the physical facilities at Walter Reed they are the responsibility of the installation commander, not the president.

The only reason the Democrats/liberal MSM care about Walter Reed is that it gives them a legimate sounding reason to take a cheap shot at President Bush.

I did not have a chance to hear much of the testimony of the complaints about Walter Reed, so I do not know the validity of those complaints, but I do know that in my 30 years of active duty there were always malcontents and I doubt that the press is going to seriously check the validity of a complaint when it can be used to slam the military or the president.

To Knight_of_Baawa:

You are making an idiotic argument. Time after time the SCOTUS has ruled that freedoms guaranteed by the Bill of Rights must be honored by state and local government as well. The only thing more idiotic than ignoring this is to claim it is meaningless because Ron Paul says so.

Regarding your even more idiotic question about Fred Phelps, the ACLU is defending him because he is a homosexual and an opponent of GWB and the Iraq war. He is a perfect vehicle for their anti-American agenda. If you would do even a minimal amount of research you would know that the ACLU was founded by communists and, like other leftist organizations, uses a name that misleads by 180 degrees waht its true intentions are. The ACLU is a big government, socialist wolf in sheep's clothing. They even sided with the Nazis who marched in Skokie in 1981. The problem with you libs is that if another lib brings a pig into your house but tells you it's a purebred dog you will insist it must be a dog because another lib said so. And when some con points out that it's really a pig you'll say it has it has four feet like a dog so the con must wrong, all the while ignoring the shape of its head, tail, body, and feet (not to mention the smell).

Clyde9
'Whatever problems there are/were with the physical facilities at Walter Reed they are the responsibility of the installation commander, not the president."

you are wrong. very, very wrong. That is plain and simply it. The installation commander is only given "x" amount. The reason these commanders were fired is they did not speak up and demand more. DOD, the Department of Defense, Headed up by the Secretary of Defense is the EXECUTIVE BRANCH headed up by BUSH. Is he responsinble for nothing? Do you know that now Walter Reed is turning away children of our soldiers because they do not have nurses? I thought not.

Rush and Hannity "scare" you (you own words) because you have no logical responses to their arguments. BTW - one of Rush's arguments is that when you make a decision based on fear it is almost never a good one. You and your brethren in Broward County just keep right on proving this man is so right about so much with your own word and actions, all the while you arewhining because too many others agree with him, as if they need your blessing to do so.

GWB, the man you call a "moron", had a 620 on his English SAT back when it actually meant something. He also has a bachelors degree from Yale and an MBA from Harvard. What have you got besides your anger, hatred, and FEAR?

Also, GWB, the man who "2 out of 3 Americans dissapprove of..." has almost twice the approval rating of Harry Reid, the most powerful Democrat in the country.

Finally, anyone who agrees with Kucinich "100% of the time" is so far out on the fringe as to disqualify himself as a serious source of opinion.

To Hal:

Following on to one of SSGTRET's responses, you should read some military history. Our military has finished EVERY conflict it has fought with better equipment than it had when it started. This is because politicians won't ever properly prepare for war. They always wair until we are in one and then react to it. The politician who is mostly responsible for failing to prepare the military for a terror war in this instance was Bill Clinton.

Hal, whats that got
to do with Air America and their 10 listeners?
It's obvious to everyone that people DO NOT want to listen to liberal talk radio, at least according to their ratings. And they have big donors throwing money at them!
If you knew anything about how the system runs in So. Fla., you would realize that if they had anything really on Rush, they surely would have prosecuted him.
I have chronic shoulder pain from cancer surgery and I have been taking Vicodin for the past 3 years now. In "Hal's world", does that make me a "drug addict" too?
Dude, you are so weak-

To Hal again:

"I love Rush... He is a drug addict, liar and racist and I am sure I am missing someother good points. I want him out there every day showing what you folks are and where you are coming from."

So, because Rush became addicted to pain killers that were prescribed for him to deal with inoperable back pain he is a drug addict. And because you disagree with him he is a liar. And because he doesn't want government to favor anyone because of the color of their skin he is a racist. And because 20 million want to hear what he has to say they are all also addicts, liars, and racists.

This is the gospel according to Hal, who also claims that the harsh rhetoric by cons on the TH board proves we are haters.

Look in the mirror Hal. You are the one who judges all by the actions of one. You are the one who has passed judgment on that one, not by the facts, but by your political prejudices. You are the bigot, the stereotyper, and the hater.

To Knight_of_Baawa again:

Refusal to renew this contract is quite probably malfeasance on the part of the county board. The funds that pay for this "contract" are public funds, and this board is elected and mandated to serve all the people, not just the Democrats and leftists who voted for them. They have a moral, ethical, and quite probably a legal obligation to spend those public funds for the purpose those funds are intended, which is to warn as many as practical about bad weather. To use this money as a hammer to punish a particular kind of political speech at the expense of people who may come to harm if they are not informed in a timely manner about an impending storm is just as corrupt as taking a bribe, whether it is illegal or not.

"Oh by the way here are tax cuts and please go shopping. Meanwhile our troops bleed and hurt and who really cares? Obviously not the Bush Regime...."

Don't you ever get tired of your own willful ignorance? The tax cuts INCREASED REVENUE. I'm tempted to say you couldn't have missed it, that was in all the papers, but I can't. It wasn't in all the papers because the liberal papers, which is most of them, refused to report this fact because they can't ever admit that Bush was right about anything, that he ever did anything good, or that the tax cuts should be made permanent and MAYBE EVEN LOWERED FURTHER.

But since you claim you listen to Rush you surely must have heard it from him by now. Unless YOU were lying...

is that due to the fact that Rush has the audacity to be a flawed human being?
There was only one perfect Man,

Hal
The Obama slander? Please specify.

Regarding WMD's:

We have found the following;

Over 500 armed chemical WMD warheads (within a couple weeks of invading).

Thousands of empty warheads capable of being filled with chemical/biological wmd.

1.77 metric tons of the same kind of "yellow cake" that Joe Wilson claims Bush lied about.

The fuselage of a US passenger jet on the ground in a para-military training camp on the outskirts of Baghdad which was used for teaching terrorists how to hijack planes. How the presence of this fuselage could be considered anything other than an "iminent threat" to our safety after 9/11 is beyond explanation.

We found an Iraqi scientist with a centrifuge buried in his back yard. He says Saddam told him to keep it there until the inspectors left the country.

We found two Al Samoud missiles capable of carrying any of the 500 chemical wmd warheads listed above. Both had a range that was 150 miles in excess of that allowed by UN sanctions and by the treaty Saddam signed at the end of the Persian Gulf War.

We found two Russian MIgs buried in the desert.

We found mobile laboratories of exactly the type we were told existed and could be used to make chemical and biological wmd. These labs can be moved to keep the UN inspectors from ever discovering them, let alone inspecting them. These labs were scrubbed clean when we found them.

We also found hundreds of tons of the chemical precusors such labs would use to make chemical/biological WMD. The liberal MSM dismissed this find, claiming these precursors also had peaceful uses, including as fertilizer. I guess the fact that Timothy McVeigh used fertilizer to kill over 160 people in Oklahoma City doesn't count when the liberal MSM is bashing Bush.

We found at least one roadside bomd (IED) that was armed with sarin gas that failed to disperse when the bomb went off.

Colonel Georges Sada, second-in-command of Iraq's Air Force, has told us that Russian technicians and Iraqi laborers dismantled most of the newest WMD equipment and smuggled it out to Syria in the gutted fuselages of passenger planes in the last weeks before the invasion.

We still don't know what was in the unusually large number of trucks our satellites observed heading for the Syrian border in the last days before the invasion.

Finally, we discovered all the gory details of how Saddam and many of our so-called allies in Europe were subverting the UN's Oil-forFood program to enable Saddam to use revenue from his country's oil sales to fund and restart his WMD programs. This began in 1996.

If you would read someting besides the NY Treason Times, something by Michael Fumento or Kenneth Timmerman for example, you would know about these things.

When you challenge me on how many times "he" has found WMD's in Iraq, all you are saying is that no matter what we find over there you won't believe it unless the same lib media that won't tell you the truth about the tax cuts admits it.

So just keep right on insisting on being ignorant and uninformed.

OK Knight, I give up

I always feel a lot smarter after reading what you write.

Re: Skokie, 1st amendment case.

The ACLU supported a political group that advocates for denying Jews ALL rights, not just 1st Amendment rights.

As I said before, the ACLU was founded by communists (some people say socialists, but the USSR stood for Union of Soviet SOCIALIST Republics). And if you move even further to the left from communism you come to ... Fascism. (That's right. Fascists are leftists. "NAZI" comes from the German words for National SOCIALIST Party).

The ACLU supported the Nazis because the ACLU has always been a socialist-communist-fascist leaning organization disguised as defenders of individual rights.

Re: Phelps

Let's assume I am wrong about Phelps being gay. Let's assume he's the opposite, a homophobe. Do you think the ACLU will support his right to preach his "religion" on the same public property they don't even want to let the Boy Scouts use? Of course not. Because the ACLU opposes religion, JUST LIKE ALL OF THE WORLD'S THE COMMUNIST-FASCISTS HAVE.

It makes perfect sense that you and Ron Paul, who apparently agree that the states have the right to infringe on free speech, would defend an organization that is dedicated to socialism-communism-fascism.

If Phelps is a homophobe I am guilty only of being temporarily uninformed. But by tomorrow I will know whether Phelps is a homosexual or a homophobe. And you will still be a useful idiot of the ACLU.

How smart do you feel?

The Leftist "trolls"
Well. Aren't they cute? Aren't they smart? Aren't they uplifting? Aren't they just so full of themselves? You know, reading through all these posts is pretty disgusting. Why do we acknowledge them at all? If someone wants to have a discussion on the facts, then let's do it. If you come here to "show me the error of my ways," take it somewhere else. Conservatives are more than able to have disagreements and still be civil with each other. Some of the best political arguments I've had have been with conservatives. We do not all think alike. We have opinions which we can express without the use of four letter words or name calling. You want to know why I don't listen to Air America? Every single host is a one note wonder. But I can listen to Hugh Hewitt, Rush, Sean, Michael Medved, Dennis Prager, Bill Bennett, Laura Ingraham, Lee Rodgers and Melanie Morgan, Mark Levin, David Gold,(I could go on and on) and hear dozens of points of view on any given topic.

It's the Left that wants to squelch different points of view. It's the Left that wants to insert itself into every facet of my life and my wallet. It's the Left that wants to tell me how live my life, what to think, who to associate with, how to protect myself.

I'm really tired of you all. You make my head hurt and my heart ache. You think that because you think one way, everyone should think like you. If you hear anything that you disagree with, it's suddenly not fair and balanced. That's your opposition to Fox News. You actually hear some things you disagree with so how could it be balanced? Now you have just a hint of how conservatives feel listening to the MSM. Except I never hear anything I agree with on those programs. What's fair and balanced about that? You're all so narcissistic. Get over yourselves, it's not all about you.

Actually our problem is that tiny little thing called fact. If it is true there is no room for "I believe". You can believe anything you want like little wiseone but do not say "facts" are wrong....

There is nothing sanctimonious in my "support for Bush and the war", but even if there is it is not your option to order me to stop. Your arrogant directive to coerce me to do so is an attempt to control my speech.

I merely responded to Hal's challenge by answering his question about how many times Limbaugh may have claimed we found WMD in Iraq.

I note that you have NO RESPONSE to the subject I was addressing so you have changed the subject and presumed to tell me what attitude I cannot have on the issue of the war.

How long will it be before you start telling me what words I am not allowed to use on TH?

Re: "We need to get out now"

This response is also for the benefit of Hal, who claims to judge Bush and this war by results (also not addressing the list of WMD's I provided him).

So you think the purpose of our strategy, and therefore of the military itself, is to keep the military safe. Even if it is at the expense of the civilian population the military is hired to protect.

Here are some "results" for you Hal, NO SUCCESSFUL MAJOR ORGANIZED ATTACKS ON US SOIL SINCE 9/11!!!!!

That is the primary objective of the war against terror, and so far it has worked. It would be nice if we could do this without risking any troops, but the only way to do that is the Clinton startegy; bomb them from 15,000 feet and create thousands more civilian casualties than are now.

Of course, the best way to keep the military safe is to not have a military at all. So, taking your cut-and-run, "get out now" strategy to its ultimate conclusion, why don't we just surrecder?

Re: WMD's

Your last post does nothing more than prove I was right when I wrote;

"When you challenge me on how many times "he" has found WMD's in Iraq, all you are saying is that no matter what we find over there you won't believe it unless the same lib media that won't tell you the truth about the tax cuts admits it."

So just keep right on insisting on being ignorant and uninformed.

BTW - Your "source", the "Bush White House", had to have its arm twisted to declassify the 500+ WMD's that were found within weeks after the war started. But it would never occur to you that there may be dozens of other "classified" items that were found that the "Bush White House" wants to keep secret because keeping our enemies in the dark about what we've found is more important than trying to convince the Hal Donohues of this world that Saddam really did have WMD; especially since the Hal Donohues of this world will neve agree or admit that Bush was right anyway.

Like I said, you and Ron Paul are the only ones that are right.

Except when you call me a neocon.

I was conservative for at twenty years before the word "neocon" was invented.

Everyone who supports Bush on the Iraq war is not necessarily a neocon.

And,like I also said, it's not even tomorrow yet and I know what Fred Phelps is. And you're still a useful idiot of the ACLU.

Being a "theocrat" doesn't change that. It only gives you even less excuse for being one of their tools.

Hal Donohue
Is this guy for real? Does he really believe what he says or is he like Loyal Democrat and pretending to present the leftist position on things to show the absurdity of their "arguments". Nearly every thing that Hal states is either factually wrong or a misguided opinion. Until this thread I thought he was for real but now I'm beginning to think that he is just poking fun at leftist ideology. I certainly hope so because his posts are nausea inducing if for real. He should save that crap for DailyKos of Huffington where his views are believed by others spouting the same nonsense.

Re: Keeping the terrorists away
Your straw dog won't hunt, Knight.

We have caught or killed over 47,000 terrorists in Iraq and Afghanistan. OBL himself has declared Iraq to be the main battle for al Qaeda with the the US.

And the Patriot Act and the NSA surveillance program have also been effective.

These are the very things guys like you and Ron Paul object to, and they are what is working.

And you still can't name one person who's been unjustly jailed because of the NSA terrorist surveillance program, or any part of the Patriot Act.

Keep displaying your ignorance Robert
(end of mesage)

Since you're so proud of your research you should look up the history of the ACLU, especially its founding.

The ACLU is not a commie org because I say so. It works the other way around.

You are reallt losing it and grasping at straws now. Whoever said that. All any soldier, Including me, ever asked was please do not sell us cheaply. Bush did when he abandoned the troops in the desert in the middle of civil wars.

"Here are some "results" for you Hal, NO SUCCESSFUL MAJOR ORGANIZED ATTACKS ON US SOIL SINCE 9/11!!!!!"

Of course not you feeble person. Bush is doing exactly what the terrorists want why attack us. After Bush I wonder... The greatest ally Al Q has is Bush. Think about it,,,

"That is the primary objective of the war against terror, and so far it has worked. It would be nice if we could do this without risking any troops, but the only way to do that is the Clinton startegy; bomb them from 15,000 feet and create thousands more civilian casualties than are now."

Cheap shot but I have to take it. For over EIGHT months, the Bush Regime downgraded counterterrorism and on 9/11 Ashcroft was personnaly worried about hanging $15,000 drapes to cover the statue of justice's bare breast. Clinton did much more than that...

"Of course, the best way to keep the military safe is to not have a military at all. So, taking your cut-and-run, "get out now" strategy to its ultimate conclusion, why don't we just surrecder?"

Is that your final answer? Get real no one says that nonsense. But Bush is disarming the military so you may be on to something....

I'm not sure what Hal is, but he is definitely not a satirist. He really does believe what he posts.

LMAO well that makes my night and it is time to go. Your comment had not one fact - I loved it.
