A Different Sort of Virus

Will the Dems' health care Christmas Present to America be an improvement or detriment to our health care system?

For more than a year the world has been on the lookout for any sign of avian flu spreading from birds to humans. The H5N1 virus has not yet mutated into a form easily transmissible from bird-to-man and thence from man-to-man, but because the devastation from a replay of an epidemic along the lines of 1918 would be so great, the vigilance and preparation has been high and sustained.

And this is a very, very wise course. One that should be emulated when it comes to the often equally deadly virus that transmits the most radical form of Islamist jihadism --the sort that triggers suicidal violence against everyone, including fellow Muslims, but most especially against America and Israel, their allies, and Jews everywhere.

It would be very useful if the world began to think of anti-Semitic rage as a virus that has sometimes consumed large parts of the globe and other times been suppressed to the point of invisibility. We have entered a period where the virus is replicating at an extraordinary rate, and where transmission is easy, and the appearance of the violent derangement that anti-Semitic Islamist extremism produces is both sudden and deadly.

In the years since 9/11, I count five discreet, possible instances of this virus suddenly appearing in the U.S., each of which resulted in death:

* The July 4, 2002 attack on the El Al counter at Los Angeles International airport;

* The October 1 University of Oklahoma suicide bombing outside of a crowded football game.

* The March 4, 2006 attack on the UNC campus

* The July 28, 2006 attack on Seattle's Jewish Community Center; and

* The August 29, 2006 attacks on pedestrians in San Francisco.

None of these five incidents is the sort of terrorist attack that we are most concerned about --the meticulously planned, coordinated attempt to cause spectacular devastation and casualties in the hundreds if not thousands. The London airlines bombing plot, like the London Tube attack, the Madrid rail attack, Bali resort bombing, and the Beslan school massacre are examples of this sort of terrorist atatck, and they rightly receive the bulk of Homeland Security's attention and analysis.

But isolated, single terrorist attacks are of great concern, and not just because of their real victims, but because of what they tell us about the spread of the hatred, and its potential to spread farther and faster than we ever dreamed.

It seems possible that we are close to a tipping point where so much anti-Semitic propaganda has been pumped into the world via new technologies and emboldened regimes and charismatic fanatics like Osama, Nasrallah and Ahmadinejad that the madness we would hope was confined to caves in Afghanistan and poor madrassas of Pakistan has in fact traveled far and at a furious pace, deep into France, now deep into London, and now we have to worry, deep into the United States.

It does not have to spread widely in American Muslim circles to provoke terrible violence by a few. There is no evidence of anything like the scale of Islamist hatred that consumes parts of France appearing in the U.S., but neither is it impossible that it will arrive here. What the five examples above underscore is that a segment of the Muslim population is susceptible to the deranging effects of anti-Western screeds from radical imams. That segment might be limited to the already deranged --the driver/killer in San Francisco and the shooter/killer in Seattle are both said to suffer from mental instability.

But the point is the segment exists, and individuals within it have killed.

What, exactly, triggered their violence?

I am keenly aware of the unfairness of taking the violence of extremist fanatics or the unstable and attributing it to a larger group to which the media assigns them. Thus Eric Rudolph, wrongly believed by many to be a Christian fundamentalist, became a whip with which to beat pro life Christians who reject violence at every turn even as they strenuously advocate for reductions in the number of abortions.

Responsible writers and analysts have to strain to repeat again and again that the vast, vast majority of Muslims in America, like the vast, vast majority of pro-life Christians in America, abhor and reject violence.

But responsible writers and analysts --and government officials-- also have to stand ready and ask, what are the sources of the anti-Semitic violence, just as they asked what were the sources of abortion clinic bombings or Timothy McVeigh's ravings or the Unabomber's craziness.

Is there a pattern, an epidemiology of this particular strain of violent hatred, and if so, how is it quarantined and combated?

Does the government have to more directly confront the sources of this hatred, whether in the Holocaust-denying and genocide threatening speeches of Ahmadinejad or the tapes that spring up from the caves of Pakistan?

And can we coherently argue that this evil ideology needs to be denounced by every person at every turn when we are extending visas to the former president of Iran so he can preach lies from the front of the National Cathedral?

Five years after 9/11 and there is an enormous amount of deep confusion in the country as to the threats we face, and the peril that these threats can cross oceans electronically and disturb and unhinge individuals.

We are rightly spending hundreds of millions on early detection and treatment systems for a virus that does not yet exist.

We need to do the same for a virus that not only exists but which has already killed in America.

The Enablers
are the Muslim community who, in lockstep with the Council on American-Islamic Relations (CAIR) and all of the Left-wing appeasers and apologists, needs to bravely, clearly and succinctly support the War On Terrorism (WOT) or be considered as direct Enablers of the Jihadists.

Their claim of being "moderate believers" and "good citizens" leaves much to be desired in the secure comfort of a "good-neighbor policy" toward their beliefs and allegiances. Without the sincere and continual rejection of the IslamoFacists, we have nothing else to pin our hopes on. Any respect that we had for this group has been completely lost. It's been Five Years! Condemnation of the Islamic Fanatics, by the Muslim community, is not heard anywhere.

These apparently insidious and misguided people, who are presently beneficiaries of our society (living amongst us), have to be re-educated or removed before their creeping cancer renders anymore death and destruction upon the civilized world.

Could it be that they're scared to death of their brethren, that religious slime that for hundreds of years has held them back from advancing their own economies and living standards? Yes, immigrate to the West, benefit and participate, then take it over and destroy it. What a concept!

Factions who fail to support the WOT are beneath contempt and unmistakeably direct suspects who advocate the overthrow of the USA and all other civilized countries.

When will we develop the backbone necessary to take action? Our leaders, the Washington DC Gasbags, haven't got the brass b---s to confront the issue.

Cancer
Yes, Flagwaver is right. It seems to me that one of the most important things for us as a nation is to quit worrying about the "Arab street" and what they and the rest of the world think about us and our actions. The MSM is constantly preaching that we have to be careful lest we make them hate us more. The SOBs want to kill us, all of us. Just how much more can you hate someone than to want to kill them? Torture them first? Hell, the bastards are already doing that. I like the idea of aiming nukes at Mecca and putting them on notice.

I just don't believe that the majority of us realize just how serious these nutjobs are. When you are willing to blow yourself to smithereens to advance your cause, you are one serious mf-er.

The 9/11 antidote
When a snake bites you it's good to have an antidote. Especially if you know what kind of snake did it. Well, we know what kind of snake put it's fangs in us. It was the Muslin terrorist species. They walk like a man but crawls like a snake. We're in luck. We have the perfect antidote for that type of snake bite. It's called the 9/11 antidote. It's a reminder to all Muslin's who live in America that we haven't forgotten what happened and never will. No other nation on this earth has this antidote. If they did maybe the Muslin's living there along with the second generation Muslins wouldn't be so violent and destructive when they can't get their way. Those nations where the virus seems to be spreading aren't immune like Americans are because we were already inoculated on 9/11. So far the 9/11 antidote seems to be working here. We haven't had the troubles the virus seems to be bringing with Muslins who live in other parts of the world.

msn
Look at this poll question on MSN. "Do you agree with President Bush when he likens the struggle against Islamic fundamentalism with the fight against Nazis and communists?

52% - No. This is just dishonest, warmongering designed to scare voters about national security in time for this fall's elections.

44% - Yes. Bin Laden and others are the Hitlers and Stalins of our times.

4.1% Maybe. But I'm going to need some more convincing one way or the other."

I guess it is not suprising since a large number of MSN readers must be liberals. What is it going to take for them to believe we are in danger from ISALM? A guess a nuke going off in the U.S. but we all know that will be GWB's fault too and not Islams.

I am impressed
Wow! If there are this many people who make sense, (and I congratulate you all) why can't we make enough noise to fight the liberals? The cult of "Hate Bush" has taken over and absolutely brainwashed half of the people in this country. How can we fight Radical Islam when half of our people either don't know what's going on or believe everything the far left preaches?
I agree that diplomacy can't work in the situation we are in. How can anyone believe that it can? Using nuclear power is opening Pandora's Box, however.

why don't they get it?
Bottom line is this:
If you ain't red blooded American or right behind one, you best watch out for yourself.
And we all know REAL AMericans are christian republicans, nobody else really counts.
These colors don't run, so we'll nuke your ass if you one of them latte drink pinko commies out there in mass'o'two'shits.
You're either with us or you're against, G-dubya was right!

Capitalism
The best hope for curbing racial hatred, even greater than democracy (if that even would work), is capitalism and free-trade. When everyone is green (or whatever color the new 10 is), nothing else matters. It is the great equalizer.

Islam & the virus
Islam is not a virus because our "penicillan" will not cure it. Yes, it is a cancer. Radiaton therapy, now there is a thought.

Islamofacists must not be sent back to their country of origin. There they are free and encouraged to fight again. They must be locked up or killed, as evidence of those who have lived in this country and still not learned. Deportation is like putting the drug lords back on the street.

Old religions die
If they don't allow for change.

Re-Target has it right when he says:
"Diplomacy will never work. There is nobody to negotiate with."

How do you negotiate with an ideal or Dogma?

With Christianity, namely Catholics we have the Pope who has the power to enact religious change.

Not that long ago for instance eating ANY meat during lent was a sin, now it's simply no meat on Friday.

I'm not saying that being Catholic is being perfect, I'm simply using that as an example of how religion can change.

The nation of Islam from the beginning of it's inception has not made a single solitary change.

Being a religious philosophy student I have had the opportunity to read these incredible texts. the Koran, the Quaballah, the Torah and of course the bible (many different versions)

All texts in some way either say outright, or allude to IT being the one true and correct religion for all to follow but only one preaches that others should be forced to convert.

More and more I believe that the "peaceful muslims" are simply the Islamic version of a "Cafateria Catholic"

When enough folks were "Cafateria Catholics" they formed their own religion(s) Look at Protestants and Episcopals (my deep apologies for spelling errors, I've been working 60+ a week)

The ONLY way to "win" this war that I can see is to either destroy the religion of hate outright... which would indeed be quite a loss in my mind.

Or secondly, encourage the "Peaceful Muslims" who disavow the hate and violence that Islam preaches to create their own religion, based on the precepts of the Koran but preaching a stronger message of peace and love.

As for society, I'm not afraid of saying that this country started it's decent when we started giving double standards with blacks.

If you think about it, and for those who lived through it, in the 50's and 60's The black culture was one of hope and pride. Of proving to the world that they are NOT the stereotypes that people had cast on them and that they were every bit as strong and fast and SMART as a white student.

Rather than let society come around to this understanding on it's own after de-segregation, it was forced on everyone and black voter appeasement began to lay the foundation for the hip-hop culture we see today.

Now, with new ingredients added to the pre-melted mixture in this melting pot we call home, we find that other "minority" groups are finding it hard to fit in because the laws that force integration by their very nature end up singling out!

So much brainwashing and social engineering at such a tumultous time. We need a leader like Regan. Someone willing to take a stand, who can preach fiscal responsibillity and can scare the bejeesus out of the mullahs.

Sorry, at work, thoughts are a bit splintered, first post.

Keep up the good work folks, I'm proud to be a young Libertarian and even more proud mf my family members, and the family members of others who are fighting and dying to protect us from the wolf knocking at our door.

"Those who sacrifice freedom for security shall have neither"

Encouraged to Hear
I am encouraged to read so many caring folks who really seem to understand the very real threat of Islam.

Politicians families are safe are yours
Just as our politicians are sworn to protect us and do nothing to uphold that oath, they are destined to ensure that millions of Americans will be murdered needlessly when Iran detonates a nuclear device on U.S. soil. We are aware of the fact that the above will happen. It is not a question of if, but when.

One of the big reasons that our nation's leaders are stuck in a Carteristic malaise of doing absolutely nothing in stopping Iran or the Islamic Fascists is that they take great solace in knowing that when this attack will happen that they have bunkers and personal protection to hide in.

The last time that Washington D.C. got spooked with the, "Iranians are coming, the Iranians are coming", There was a Congressional motorcade of long and drawn out line of limousines heading to the, "Secret" undisclosed bunker location, it didn't take an Iranian nuclear scientist to figure out where this secret bunker location was.

Is this some sort of conspiratorial theory, not really, its just human nature, survival of the fittest if you will. If a man or a woman knows that they have a safe refuge some place they are inclined not to feel the sense of urgency that the average man or woman will feel.

When this nation gets attacked again where are we going to go with our families. We have no ultra-secret concrete bunker somewhere with all the amenities. all we have is our brick and wood homes. This is why the majority of Americans want our nation's leaders to do something, because we have no protection for us and our families in the event of an attack.
The nation's leaders attitude is, "Hey, I have my bunker for me an my family, for the rest of America, your just collateral damage."

Addition to the list
Let us not forget the D.C. Sniper. Members of "The Nation of Islam"

Democrats-a greater threat to America
Terrorists, atleast for a time immediately after an attack unite America and restore our will to resist.

That is until the MSM and the Democrats feel it is their political interests to start pulling America apart again. The Democrats have done nothing, but divide America with the incipent campaign to regain power. They divide us into the haves and have nots. They divide us into different religious and ethnic catagories. Their diversity BS is nothing short of a campaign to divide Americans into separate groups of hate and envy for other groups. Without that Hate and Envy, the would be a Party without a following.

Danger - Islam
It is so patently obvious that Islam is the worst menace this entire world faces today, it is a bloody and inexplicable wonder that not everyone can see it. Not calling a "spade a spade" and not naming names, and not attributing characteristics to individuals AND large groups of people is insane. I think the time for diplomatic language has long past, and we must recognize and defend ourselves, both proactively and defensively, against the imminent peril that faces us. Rhetoric will not get the job done...only action will.

If the Democrat party gains a majority in this next election, God help us!

Re-target
Maybe we should fight fire with fire. We can nuke Medina and advise the world that nukes have been re-targeted towards Mecca. Advise them Mecca will be destroyed if there is even the slightest terror attack anywhere that is perpetuated by Muslims. All they understand is force. They call for the destruction if "infidels", we destroy them forst.

Diplomacy will never work. There is nobody to negotiate with.

viruses
Somewhat embarassing, Hugh. You were an alarmist on bird virus... won't you be labeled an alarmist on Islamists?

Muslims and Nukes- Fact or Fiction
Muslims and Nukes- Fact or Fiction

As I continue to work on my newest book “The 7 Days of Jihad” I am truly beginning to wonder if this work will be catalogued as fiction, as I had originally intended. While not wanting to give away the entire plot, let it suffice it to say that a nuclear device makes its way across the border from Mexico and our protagonist tracks it down to a construction site in the middle of Los Angeles. Needless to say, there’s much more to the book that this, but I am truly beginning to wonder if my fiction may soon become fact.

Let’s start by examining another criminal act by yet another Muslim, this time in San Francisco. Yesterday, Ohmeed Aziz Popal ran over fourteen people, killing one and injuring many, in a predominately Jewish section of town. While any betting man can be sure that Mayor Gavin Newsome, of gay marriage fame, will not denounce this as a terrorist attack, I’m not so certain. Remember, this is not the first time that we have had attacks by Muslims which have been deemed as isolated incidents.

Just last month, six women were shot at a Seattle Jewish center, one fatally. The gunman in that incident announced that he was a Muslim and was mad at what was going on in Israel. On March 4th of this year, Mohammed Reza Taheri-azar, another Muslim ran down a group of students at the University of North Carolina. He claimed it was to retaliate against the treatment of Muslims around the world.

Of course, many of us recall the attack by yet another Muslim at the El Al ticket counters at LAX in 2002. Again, a terrorist extolling the virtues of Islam in an attempt to kill the infidels. Sure, most of these incidents didn’t get much needed press by the biased mainstream media, but perhaps we would benefit from further scrutiny of these events. Yes, it is possible that they are all isolated incidents, but coupled with other isolated incidents such as bombings in Bali, trains in Madrid, subways in London, the World Trade Center and at least two dozen prior incidents involving U.S. and Israeli interests at home and abroad, I doubt it. But it does get much deeper than this, and is much more complex than any of us realize.

Today, we are faced with a stubborn Iranian President who nobody dares to call a terrorist. President Ahmedinejad has proclaimed his right to pursue a nuclear enrichment program. Yes, this will result in nuclear weapons and it will result in several being used against the west. We will try diplomacy, which always fails with terrorists and we will try sanctions which will hurt the women and children of Iran. The truth is that the only thing the culture of radical Islam understands is violence.

We will end up using military might against Iran before it is all said and done. Unfortunately, it will be later than sooner, giving Iran plenty of time to continue to play puppet master over Hezbollah and Iraqi terrorist organizations. They will use this time to deplete the strength and resolve of both Israel and the United States making us that much weaker when war finally rears its ugly head.

There is no doubt that Ahmedinejad and his military are continuing to fortify nuclear sites with women and children, viewed as worthless in the culture of radical Islam. If we bomb those sites, these pawns in this war will die. If we work diligently to avoid collateral damage, the Iranian leader will kill them and then he will tell Reuters and the rest of the media that it was George W. Bush. The sad thing about the whole state of affairs is that is exactly how the Bush hating media and liberal Democrats will portray it. Again, radical Islam gets a pass, both at home and abroad putting is in greater and greater danger with each passing day.

fighting an idea
Comparing Radical Islam (or Islamofascism, if you prefer) to a virus - or to cancer - does illustrate some points to consider. But there's another point I think you've all missed: man's average life expectancy is only about 77 years - and much less in Third World countries, of course.

Ever hear about the 75-year-old man with a weak heart, who gets diagnosed with cancer? The doctor says, sure, we could treat this with radiation or chemotherapy, but it would take about five years to really get it all gone, and he'd likely be dead before then, anyway - even if his heart were strong. On top of that, he already has a weak heart, and either radiation or chemotherapy would likely kill him in a year or less. It's better to just do what we can to make him comfortable for the time he has left.

Obviously, the world has been around a lot longer than 77 years. Besides eradicating this from the world, we need to do what we can to keep it from coming back in 200 years - or 2,000. It seems that a lot of the problem comes from certain interpretations of the Koran, which inspire hatred and violence. How do we fight such an idea? With other ideas.

Yes, we need to use some of our WMD's, judiciously placed so as to persuade any (Moslem) survivors that attacking us is not in their best interest. But we also need to be aware that among those "peaceful" survivors there may be some who believe the more violent interpretations of the Koran, other violent writings, etc.

(I heard in 2002 that a certain book, translated from German to Arabic, had been a major best-seller in Moslem countries around the world for several years. The book is titled "Mein Kampf". Hitler has been dead - how long? but we're still fighting his ideas.) Those Islamic survivors who believe in violence against all "infidels" are the beginnings of the next "wave" of preachers of violence, followed by more attacks. Whether we get them converted to Christianity or to a truly peaceful brand of Islam - either one is fine with me, for this discussion, at least - although I am personally biased in favor of Christianity. HOW to do this, I'm open to suggestions.

Chemo Therapy
I was thinking a selective use of radiation treatment.

Chemotherapy?
Come on, people! Stop mixing your metaphors.

Vaporizing Mecca and Medina and Teheran and Damascus is not Chemotherapy!

It's RADIATION therapy!

In the end
It seems to me that the most effective ways to combat this “virus” are too radical or not PC enough to be used. This country as a whole has to come to the realization that this is a war for our way of life and our heads. Our founding fathers came to this country so they could do what their hearts desired without interference from government or neighbors. The rules were set up to accommodate the needs of the people and unfortunately did not take into account such things as Nuclear weapons or chemical and biological warfare. Today the rules need to be changed to protect us from these dangers. Actions such as deportation, internment, profiling, invasion of privacy and other infringements must be used. If we choose to skip along our merry way the end result will be our death and the end of all we hold dear. Somehow all Americans must come to the same conclusion and act now if it’s not too late already.

Liberals may be running America...
...in 2 months.

Do you think Bush will stop them from doing whatever they please? No way. Among the words never to pierce his brain:

Veto.

Homeland security is a joke with this man. Millions are crossing our southern border, bringing with them TB, America-hatred and any number of other diseases. Bush is an open-borders man who cannot be pushed off his position.

He sees himself as a stalwart defender of America. He's a rubber-kneed wimp who wouldn't defend this country if his life depended on it. If George Bush were ACTUALLY DEFENDING THIS COUNTRY, the Democraps wouldn't stand a chance this fall.

Phylo out.

Raical = Radical
That's what I ment to say.

The Point About Chemotherapy
I see the point about chemotherapy not necessarily meaning nukes (although, let's face it, I've been in favor of the nuclear option since 9/11), but instead applying a raical and indiscriminate therapy that damages the whole body, meaning us, but damages the terrorists much more quickly.

We could ban Islam and Muslims forever.

RE:A (thread) that runs through these 5
Just a thought, you nailed it: Seems like every time one of these 'mentally ill' people goes on a rampage, they've just come home from whichever muslim nation they originated from (or one close to it). On top of which, they'd been speaking to one immam or another.

Curious how so many 'mentally ill' people seem to be muslim nowadays?

A (thread) that runs through these 5
I think all 5 went back (home) just prior to committing these acts. The last one to (get married) just two weeks prior.

If true, it could be a starting point.

Also the denial of terrorism, family members cries of past 'mental disorder,' securing the mosques from possible retaliation, and at least one of the victims saying, "it's okay, we forgive him."

First, the Truth
We'll never win the war against Islamic terror if we who are most adamant don't tell the whole truth and nothing but the truth.

I have seen no credible evidence that the suicide bombing at the University of Oklahoma was anti-Semitic.

That doesn't excuse the San Francisco Chronicle from failing to call this an(other) act of Islamic violence against innocent Jews. It also doesn't excuse the mainstream media from failing to connect these and other obvious dots so that the American public understands the enormity of the threat.

But in a world of secular and Islamic lies and distortions, who will tell the truth if not those like us who are pledged to it?

Flagwaver has it right
and I really think it will come to nukes. As Jimmy Carter says. It's time for chemo-therapy.

sloopy:
Your right, the MSM needs to receive some hard attention. It's been said that the NYT refused to print the Muhammad cartoon for fear of retaliation. How about if they receive a little retaliation from Americans for printing propaganda instead of the truth.

Read Londonistan
and see for yourself how this disease has been allowed to metastisize into western society. England still does not allow itself to even NAME the danger, let alone take meaningful action. (just saying the words "Islamic" and "terrorism" can get you fired and denounced for "hate speech" in public circles. That may start to change) We have recognized the problem as a society, for the most part, so we can take action. Much remains to be done and I continue to say that none of us may live to see the end of this war, if history is any guide.

It is important
not to forget another major source of anti-semitism - the MSM. They have managed, in the recent conflict to turn aggressors into victims, victims into aggressors. They have been caught red-handed using staged or fabricated photos. And, once caught, they have totally failed to acknowlege the problem, much less have they addressed it.

Flagwaver is right as usual..
...it's time for chemo-therapy...

More of a cancer.
Jihadist Islam is more of a cancer than a virus. a virus will usually run it's course and leave the body never to return. A cancer may go into remission for years and then one day return. If that happens it is not a new cancer, just a recurrence of the old one.

Jihadist Islam is that cancer that has shown up from century to century, always with the same symptoms and effects. And we all know that the way to get rid of a cancer is to a) exise it from the body completely, or b) nuke it out of existence. I think either treatment would work wonders fo ridding us of the Jihadist cancer spreading through the 'body' of the world.
