Poll
Will the Dems' health care Christmas Present to America be an improvement or detriment to our health care system?

“There are a lot of people who say that you (Harry Jackson) are a front man for national conservative groups,” is the statement several reporters have made before they asked the big question. “Who is really paying for the same-sex marriage campaign being waged against the DC City Council?”

Several of the reporters called my PR firm an “expensive, GOP political campaign firm that has masterminded several conservative victories.” Although my firm is very expensive, I was shocked that they did not know that my current PR firm helped me promote the book I co-authored with Tony Perkins (Personal Faith, Public Policy) and that they did a fabulous job in helping us on various projects for the past four years.

Liberal writers and political hacks in DC revealed early in this struggle the disregard and lack of respect they have for black clergy through their very racist, liberal assumptions. The first assumption was that black ministers other than Jesse Jackson, Al Sharpton, or Michael Eric Dyson are not sophisticated enough to engage the media in a professional manner. It’s as though they were saying, “We know that you are not smart enough to develop such a strong strategy on your own.” In addition they were saying, “We own the black voters in this region; they are on our political plantation. How dare you free them from their mental chains!”

*** Special Offer ***

My detractors failed to realize that I am a MBA graduate of Harvard Business School, author or co-author of seven books, and that I lead an organization with a multi-million dollar annual income and a huge net fund balance. While we are hardly rich and powerful by the billion dollar standards of the media today, my internal leadership team does have a minimal level of awareness of how to get a message out effectively. The message, “Say No to Same-sex Marriage!” has resonated with DC residents from 13 years old and up who feel as though they were disenfranchised by a pretentious, arrogant group that have claimed media control in our city. The media protests demonstrate the effectiveness we have had in cultivating an awareness of the issue at hand.

I earnestly wish that these reporters had read Personal Faith, Public Policy. The book clearly states that new alliances between black, white, and Hispanic evangelicals are a part of a new way of doing business. They would have understood that the evangelical Christian movement is changing right before their eyes. The bible-believing church has finally gotten the message that it can only win when all racial/cultural segments are fully engaged. Perhaps that’s why the same group of liberal writers was so shocked that in Florida and California 70% of black citizens voted against same-sex marriage, while still voting for President Obama. This split vote showed the emergence of a new transcendent way of thinking about politics.

Although large amounts of national money have not yet come to us to help our organization participate in the numerous marriage battles around the nation, I want to confess right now that our organization would welcome national money, national volunteers, and advice on national policy or legal issues.

DC is not just a capital city region – it is everyone’s capital city. Many are not aware that over the last decade a disproportionate number of gay activists have moved to the District of Columbia. These activists have openly expressed their desire to turn DC into an east coast San Francisco. As a result of this strategy, we have several openly gay city council members and a local gay political lobby (buoyed by national money) that has given money to nearly 100% of our city council members.

To make things worst, the national gay activism group, the Human Rights Campaign, is headquartered in DC. For years gays have quietly used national strategists and money to curry favor with our local lawmakers. At the same time, the process of real estate development and relocation called “gentrification” has relocated many socially conservative citizens into the Maryland and Virginia suburbs. The city that once was the home of an 80% black population has now shrunk to only 56%.

The press has been mystified by my participation in the fight to protect marriage. They make it sound as though no self-respecting black minister can stand up for biblical principles and righteousness without selling his soul or convictions to the highest bidder. These reporters seemingly forget that no one paid off Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. They failed to look closely enough at the grassroots work done in many states during the last election’s marriage amendment issue. They are not seeing the new phenomenon where courageous black leaders are rising with the boldness of the last generation’s freedom riders, resisting the “faux” civil rights claims of the gay community.

Three things encouraged me this week. First, the California Supreme Court ruled to uphold the popular vote in California maintaining marriage’s integrity by defining it as a union between a man and a woman. Secondly, a Gallup poll just released suggests that Americans are not in support of same-sex marriage while at the same time becoming increasingly supportive of civil rights for gays. The study, conducted May 7-10 by Gallup/USA Today, found 57% said that “marriages” between same-sex couples should not be recognized by law or given the same rights as traditional marriages. The poll also found 48% said that legalizing same-sex marriages would change society for the worse compared to only 13% who said it would change society for the better. Finally a group of DC residents, including Walter Fauntroy, signed a referendum against the recent DC same-sex marriage ordinance this past Wednesday.

A new day is dawning! I hope that you will join me and become part of a growing movement to protect biblical marriage as a foundational building block for our culture. With all of our different cultures and races united, the truth of our cause will not be denied.

It's Not Just African-Americans . . .
. . . the liberal elites have contempt for anybody in any "group" that does not fall into lockstep with the leftist dogmas they're pushing. And the gay-marriage battle is only a part of this - ironically, the Left also has contempt for those in the LGBT community that don't slavishly support the leftist agenda the gay lobby is seeking to ram down everyone's throats (including and especially so-called "gay marriage"). I'm thinking of the Left's treatment of Mark Foley, Ted Haggard, Larry Craig . . .

Only if a Democrat allows it
It's funny the frame of mind the Democrats have about a black man. In order for a black man to be recognized he must be a front man for some group. It's very insulting to have someone tell you, your whatever we say you are. I guess when your so brainwashed by your ideology, you can't image a black man standing for anything other then what the Democrats have chosen to give them. The only difference is that it's the Democrats whose always in control. The black man never is. So, who can blame the media who has also been brainwashed by the Democrats to see you as a front man for national conservative groups. If the media hasn't broken free of the Democrats, why would they think anyone else can. Look where those journalist went when word got out the newspapers were closing. They ran straight to work in President Obama's administration. Same sex marriage is and will always be just an illusion of a lifestyle that campaigns for the same rights as the marriage between a man and a woman that is based on reality. That reality being that it can produce a living, breathing child. It has nothing what so ever to do with benefits, thats just a ploy just to sucker in the sympathizers.

Christians must endure...
Harry R Jackson Jr is correct when he says that Christians of all ethnic backgrounds and social standings must unite in order to survive and endure this era of perversion and hostility. We are to "earnestly contend for the faith" (Jude 3) and "endure to the end" (Matthew 24:13) in order to persevere and maintain a sense of moral dignity and justice in this morally depraved world. I thank God for men like Harry Jackson and pray that more strong leaders like him (and not the opportunists like Jesse Jackson, Al Sharpton, etc) will stand up for what they believe and preach the True good news of Jesus Christ (Matthew 9:38).

Hang in there, Dr. Jackson
Black conservative Christians drive left wingers crazy. Nothing liberals do is more deserving of contempt than the way they ascribe motivation to conservatives. They put themselves in the position of an observer who claims a man won't buy his teenage son a car because he hates his son. Other possibilities, such as the parent can't afford it, he believes his son is too immature, he knows the son is blind and the observer doesn't ever seem to occur to such an observer. Similarly, it never occurs to them that a person might object to same sex marriage for reasons other than hating homosexuals. Same goes for being conservative. The only possible reason the liberal left allows a black to be conservative is to cowardly curry favor with whites. My intuition tells me there are more black conservatives than will admit it, even in front of one another. Considering the level of abuse involved, why ask for trouble? My father in law is a yellow dog Democrat. I doubt he knows whether i am R or D.

Leo
Did you even read the article?

I see no whining or hate speech.
He didn't say anything about torturing or killing of gays.
I think you protest too much.
It is you who is guilty of "hate speech".
Mr. Jackson (or anyone for that matter) has the right to their opinion without being slandered.

Leo & Wallac
Once again those who disagree with the author turn to hate speech. Which is understandable as they apparently have neither the intellect nor the inclination to address the issue head on. How they can equate conservative writers who openly show their faces and give their true names with a cowardly organization whose members for the most part have hidden their identidy under a sheet is beyond understanding

Leo
Please post the applicable quotes and links backing up this statement...

"...Focus on the Family who last week advocated and lobbied UN for supporting all forms of human right abuses against gays..."

Wallac
Is "affirmative action" a racist policy?

If one is opposed to Obama's policies does that make him ipso facto "a racist"?

Can a black man in this country be a conservative or Republican without having some ulterior evil motive?

Wallac DC Jun 1, 2009 - 1:48 AM EST

Hey, Wallac -

You said:
"I come to this site to gage the level of racism in our society,"

WTH? For me, I don't care what color your skin is - I judge you by what's in your mind, and from my perspective, and at this time, there ain't much goin on in yours.

You are here for the wrong reasons.

If you want to intellectually discuss these articles, stick around, treat us with respect, and we'll have some great discussions.

Otherwise, take your bigotry elsewhere.

Thanks, Marine. We needed your voice of reason.

You're messin' with their minds
When you insist on being a conservative Christian, you mess with the minds of those who don't think Blacks can really, truly be conservative.

Keep up the good work!

A Looking-Glass World,
Alice in her adventures never saw such twisted absurdities as left-libs manage to conjure up.

They pretend to advocate for "civil rights" yet their every action expresses narrow-minded bigotry to a degree that would shame a Klansman.

They lay claim to sophistication while their words and deeds reveal a provincial insularity to equal the most restrictive of cults.

And their continual accusations that anyone who opposes them act out of hatred and their ready willingness to define conservatives as evil reminds me of nothing less than the hysteria of the witch burners.

Wallac and Leo
Your two brains TOGETHER could seek shelter from the sun under the shade of a snow pea pod!

God bless you, Harry Jackson
You will be added to my prayer list and the prayer list of others in my sphere of influence. The time has come for all of us to more closely examine the sound bites of politicians and uncover the truth of their intentions. If we don't, our country is toast.

AGREED. And further, it is the false religion of Darwinism that we have to thank for the whole nasty idea of race.

He taught that the black, red and yellow races were species that evolved previous to the white and that they were less human than whites. Margaret Sanger bought his LIE and started what has morphed into Planned Parenthood to limit the "inferior races" from over breeding and taking over the white races.

Don't believe me. Go do the research yourself!!!

To those who come to these sites to
argue with conservatives and brand them as "racist, sexist, homophobes," please realize that just because we may disagree with you over political and social matters does not mean that we HATE you. We simply do not agree that your ideas of right and wrong, or your plans for policy, since your ideas do not conform to those of the Almighty Creator of the Universe, whom most of us worship and strive to obey.

Hatred seems to be your stock in trade. you seem to despise anyone who dares to disagree with you.

It's not discrimination
There was once discrimination in marriage laws. I could marry a woman a black man could not, and he could marry a woman I could not. This is a perfect example of discrimination. A homosexual marriage ban does not qualify. (I do not use the word gay. The word gay already has a definition just as the word marriage does.)
A homosexual man and I have the right to marry the same woman with the same qualifications.
1. Neither party can already be married.
2. Both Parties must be of legal age.
3. The two parties must not be closely related.
4. Both must be willing to be married.
5. The two parties must be of opposite sexes.
Love is not a legal requirement for marriage, it is a fringe benefit. The ability to have children is also a fringe benefit.
When two people can legally do exactly the same thing, it is not discrimination. The fact that one person does not wish to do the same time but wants to do something different does not change that.

Only one 'race'
the human race.

Skin color is irrelevant, unless one is possesed of an overwhelming desire for control; only then is labeling and group identity imposed.

Mr Jackson, God bless you in your efforts!

Mary
You are to be thanked for saying that, but on the lib posters it won't matter. They are filled with hate for those that disagree with them.Sad to say.

70 PERCENTERS

The 70% which voted against same sex marriage but also voted for Obama depicts the disconnect in the black Christian community. How can one be against same sex marriage but vote for a candidate that clearly supports it.People support the position of the candidate they vote for regardless ofwhat they say the do not support.I cannot vote for a candidate who is pro death and then say I am pro life. It is not what you say it is what you do.Until black Christians vote their convictions and not color ,when they are abloe to connect the two, that is who i vote for is what i beleive we will continue to aid and abet the very issues that we say we are against.

Two Jacksons
As I have said before, there are two Reverend Jacksons. This one knows what he is talking about. The other one... well, you know.

Quiet
The reason the hatred goes on is because we the people and the liberal media keep pushing our faces in it. Please stop giving the media the chance to keep doing this. Hush up about such things and they have no ammunition. Talk about important things such as hunger and keeping people well, N Korea and the missles, the list can go on and on.

Bravo!
Bishop Jackson, you are to be commended. If I may I would like to say you are on a par with Mary Ann Glendon who had the courage
of her convictions, when she refused to be snared into that trap at Notre Dame. It's amazing how many people of like conviction are
afraid to voice their real opinions in this country today. This 'new age' wants nothing to do with tradition, as if it were an 'asp' ready
to bite them. Imagine, if the framers of our beloved constitution and Bill of Rights came back today and saw how both are being emasculated, they would turn right around and go back to their boxes. That's how Our Blessed Lady who Notre Dame is named for
must suffer to see how Her home is being used to KILL millions of babies; to see Her children jumping and applauding the master killer
among them.I firmly believe that God in His infinite wisdom is
orchestrating the events in our country. Obama thinks he is the prime mover, but he is in for a shock. God has been so offended for the last 50 years, more so by His closest children that He has decided not be offended any longer. If what is happening now is what we want, He will give it to us. 'Whom God loves, He chastises.'
By the way, Janet Napolitano, I am a right wing extremist, who loves this great country with a passion. God Bless America, when He finishes with it.

I thought I was done, but I'm not.
Conservatives are not seeking to deprive homosexuals of their "rights." We are seeking to protect society from your wrongs. It is a scientific fact that homosexual relationships (just as with promiscuous or perverse heterosexual relationships) foster and spread STDs. Faithful, heterosexual relationships (otherwise known as marriage) do not.

God INVENTED sex. God does have a right to set forth restrictions, which He has done and pronounced in His word. His people have a duty to fight for what is right.

Moreover, we are seeking to defend our civil rights which are under massive attack: our freedom of speech, our freedom to assemble, and our freedom to worship God as we are led to do by our consciences.

We are also attempting to protect our children. We see efforts to reduce the "age of consent." We don't see a bunch of kids clammoring to legislators for the "right" to go out and mess around with adults, therefore, it must be some very quiet adults clammoring, maybe with $$$ for the right to get at other people's children.

We, not you, are the ones under attack.

BRAVO PRINCE #26
Right on! I am sitting here feeling bad about the so-called Christian abortion doctor that was killed, yet, I really think God will not look favorably upon him. Thanks for being a man of reason! God is not mocked.

Protect Biblical Marriage
Protect the Free Market as well. God also said,"Thou shalt not steal", "Thou shalt not covet.""Thou shalt not murder". Why did all of these black evangelicals think it was okay to vote for OBAMA? We need to follow all of His rules. Not just the ones we agree with.

I'm still not done.
I realize that many people in the homosexual lifestyle feel they are "trapped" in that lifestyle - that they have no choice in the matter, and are only trying to find a way to get along with both their feelings and with society at large.

I know you probably know about Exodus International and Love Won Out.

I also know that you probably resist the messages with all your power. But it is important to realize that, even if every human being on earth agreed with you about your "rights" and respected your choices, that would not solve your problems. You still have your consciences to deal with, and your relationship with God. You cannot change the mind of God about all this.

What I am trying to say is that your problems are not genetic, try as you might to make it so. Your problems are likely phychological, due to abuse or other unhealthy relationships in your childhood. But there is a way out of the debauchery. The organizations you so despise, listed above, can help you find your way out. We know this because the Bible says so (I Corinthians 6:9-11, esp.11)and because there are a lot of examples working with or for those organizations. May not be easy, but guaranteed to be worth the effort.

It is very important to remember
that homosexual marriage is not about "love". It is about forcing our children in school to accept homosexuality as good and moral and equal to what God has ordained. They have an evil agenda and they are trying to hide it in "love" verbage.

Recently the American Psychiatric Assoc.
presented its findings on homosexuality. There is no physical reason for a person to become a homosexual. It is a matter of upbringing and choice.

Black Heros for truth
Absolutely Mr. Jackson a black man can stand for truth. Here are three examples: (Dr. Walter William; (2) Thomas Sowell (3) E.K. Edgerton. In my estimation these are three heros of truth and I am a white man!

TAKE 'EM DOWN HARRY, WE ARE WITH YOU!
Dear MR. Jackson,

Thank you for making Common Sense available to all.

The Best,

Rowdy Boots

Bad Press
There are many Black ministers who are believers and defenders of the faith. You,
Mr. Jackson are one and I cannot fail to mention Mr Keyes!

God bless you both. The Rev. Leroy Jenkins also comes to mind.

The problem is that due to the socialist media agenda,
we only hear of the trouble makers like Wright, J. Jackson, Sharpton and others whom I believe want to draw lines between black and white.
They promote hatred and both black and white must be careful not to fall into their nasty little traps.

For many years they have fostered hatred.
The leftist party has done nothing for black people but made them dependent on a system.
They are treated as if they must be elevated because they have not the brains to make it on their own! Affirmative action was an insult to the black man. Those sucessful black men and women are called traitors by the socialist scum who would keep them down.

I personally do not care what color man/woman sits in the White House. This election was turned into
a feminist, racial and religious platform.
A far cry from electing a man or woman who loves this country and honors one of the greatest documents ever written. Our Constitution!

This became second to the above mentioned
reasons for this election year.

I fear that we will, and are now paying a dear price for our reverse bigotry!

Rev. Jackson, I salute you sir. I also salute anyone black or white who has the ability to think for themselves.
God bless you and God Bless America.

Two Jesse's
LuckyDog1 (reply #12-9:36am)
There are also two Reverend Jesse's. There's Rev. Jesse Lee Peterson, a good man who also knows what he is talking about and whose perspectives comport with those of Rev. Harry Jackson's, and the other Jesse, who, well, you know...

Thank you
for the work you do on this important mission. Please keep it up.

Can Black clergy speak without help
Honestly, the talk about race is really ridiculous. It is obvious that Black people have been thrown under the bus by Democrats. The new minority is Mexican and Black people can vote for Democrats and not think about it. Black people are being used and abused by politicians and liberals. Black people go to church and do not support abortion or gay marriage. Why in the world do they support Democrats? It is a big mystery. Forty percent of babies that are aborted are black babies. Unless I am mistaken, black people do not make up 40 percent of the population. The murder of babies is never right. It is always wrong. Dr. Tiller the killer is burning in Hell. State controlled media may continue lie but do black people have to believe it?

The Good News.......
Super High Intensity Truth (S.H.?.T.) from O'bummer means that people with more bread will be able to eat less Super High Intensity Truth.

unh hunh...
well, it's plain to see that the failures of marriage and family among heterosexuals doesn't get Jackson the attention the amorphous 'gay menace' does.
You're very label averse for yourselves, but the labels, defamation and misinformation regarding gay lives gets a lot of press in TH.
It's pathetic really.
I live in CA, where the high school dropout rate is epidemic, gang membership is higher than Boy/Girl Scout membership and domestic violence is killing women and children at the rate of a war.
But you all sure showed 'the gays' who is in charge.
Fuff.
No, you're not haters, just mind numbingly hypocritical and impossibly ineffective to make improvements in marriage and family issues as long as blaming gay people or conjecturing they'll make it worse gets you all the attention.
Pathetic.

Well said du
If the good rev spent only a 1/4 of the time he spends trying to demonize homosexuals as the greatest threat the world faces working with heterosexuals with troubled relationships he might actually accomplish something. I have several gay friends who are graduates of HBS who live in stable homosexual relationships. Perhaps the rev could have learned something from some of his classmates during his time in Cambridge.

Beware homofascism
This, from the Baptist Press:

NASHVILLE, Tenn. (BP)--While a pastor's right to preach against same-sex "marriage" may not be threatened by its legalization, many other religious activities may be in jeopardy, the general counsel for the American Jewish Congress told National Public Radio.

"What if a church offers marriage counseling? Will they be able to say, 'No, we're not going to help gay couples get along because it violates our religious principles to do so'?" asked Marc Stern. "What about summer camps? Will they be able to insist that gay couples not serve as staff because they're a bad example?"

In states where same-sex "marriage" has been legalized, homosexual couples have won consistently when they lodged discrimination complaints against religious groups, Stern said.

Stern cited several examples: Yeshiva University, a conservative Jewish university in New York City, which was ordered to allow same-sex couples to live in its married student housing. Catholic Charities decided to discontinue adoption services in Massachusetts after they were ordered to place children with same-sex couples. A lesbian couple prevailed in their complaint against a psychologist in Mississippi who refused to counsel them. A Methodist retreat center in New Jersey lost the tax exemption on a building when they declined to allow a lesbian couple to hold their "marriage" ceremony at the facility.

We Have A New Contender!
For stupidest comment of the day--Joel goes hard for #1 with "No one is supposed to have their legal residence in Washington."

Maybe if you liberated your own oppressed mind you'd be personally a lot better off, and you'd be showing some sense of reality about who's really oppressed around here...

du and James
If either of you spent as much as one sunday in an Evangelical Church, you would realise that as a group, we evangelicals spend FAR MORE TIME addressing the fixing of broken marriages (real hetero marriages), and helping others than we do on protecting traditional marriage. The reason we are so vocal in public about protecting traditional marrige is to avoid HIGHER drop out rates, HIGHER drug usage rates and HIGHER gang affiliation rates. The way to fix these problems is to help society see that children need 3 things to succeed in life: a mother, a father (that's right, just one of each) and Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior.

re: More TEA anyone???
Hey, I tell you what in my experince it is real hard to find a good truthful Black man, our society and their social situation in alot of cases has pretty much erroded any thing that we would think of as truthful, but this door swings both ways and you see the same thing in the white social corner too!!! So, lets take the race thing out of it and tag it as a flaw of this current social time, shall we??

The 'good rev' is OK as he is, thanks
"If the good rev spent only a 1/4 of the time he spends trying to demonize homosexuals … working with heterosexuals with troubled relationships he might actually accomplish something."

-- The "good rev" is actually accomplishing quite a lot already, thanks. Otherwise, you wouldn't be spending even "1/4" of YOUR OWN time trying to demonize HIM.

Your anxiety is clear evidence that Jackson has scored a direct hit, and that you are running scared. More power to him.

And Jackson does, in fact, do A LOT of work with heterosexuals in "troubled" relationships. If you were not in perennial false-accusation mode (ie, lying mode), you could acknowledge as much.

As it is, he's equally busy trying to stop YOU from troubling the world.

"I have several gay friends who are graduates of HBS who live in stable homosexual relationships."

-- Well, that's just pinky-keen.

And so what?

"Perhaps the rev could have learned something from some of his classmates during his time in Cambridge."

-- And perhaps YOU can learn to spare us your asinine non sequiturs?

Not likely, though.

Marriage is a sacrament
made/given in the church. Everything else is a civil union if done under general law (ie: married by a judge). Gubmint can ONLY recognize and possibly alter the legal part they sanctioned. Gubmint cannot force the church to reconize anything contrary to its teachings no matter how many groups scream about it or how many people vote for or against the issue of gay marriage.

Get gubmint out of our homes, schools, bedrooms, wallets, and churches. That would be at least a good start.

David S
I am in no way running scared from the good rev and I am most certainly not running scared of you. I am merely trying to point out to the rev and his followers that scapegoating others for real problems accomplishes nothing. I am not troubling the world. I am merely trying to open narrow minds and educated people. I am sure the rev is a decent, loving guy who needs to learn he should not fear gay people. You on the other hand sound like a miserable lost cause. Put your head back in the sand now.

Why do you think they call it right
I spend my Sundays in Church as well. I volunteer some of my time to work with high school students here in NYC to encourage them to stay in school and make something with their lives. I just fail to see how demonizing loving couples in same sex relationships is going to help these students one iota.

Harry Jackson
What amazes me is that the black community at
least appears to be active in thwarting the
rights of gays. The same thing happened back
in the days of the E.R.A. I honestly can't speak to any national movement on the part of
the blacks during that time, whether it existed
or not. But in the town I was living in at the
time - Springfield, Illinois - the blacks there
were very decidedly against it, and particularly
the men. And I thought - what the nerve.
Why have I marched down the streets for your
rights while you ignore mine?

And I am sure that many gays are saying the
same thing about the blacks today.

Merry:
Marriage is a sacrament

Only in the Catholic Church. Most of us are not Catholic. And not all Catholics accept
gay rejection.
***
"Gubmint cannot force the church to reconize anything contrary to its teachings."

The Gubmint (are you one of those real live
hicks that show up so often on this site?)
isn't trying to force anything onto your
church.
***
Get gubmint out of our homes, schools, bedrooms, wallets, and churches.
****
The government isn't in your bedroom or
churches. Why doesn't your bedroom and your
church try to stay out of our government.

Meanwhile the government will stay in the
schools and the wallets. Sorry. Well, not
really, but you get my drift.

Dear James:
I don't think people are attempting to "demonize" people who are minding their own business who are involved in same-sex relationships.

What I am opposed to, and assume numerous others are also, is people who are attempting to muzzle us; to prevent pastors from preaching from the whole Word of God; and to teach our children that there is "nothing" wrong with same-sex physical relationships when God says otherwise; and to intrude on our lives with their agendas.

"Straights" are being "bashed" these days.

Prince wrote
"The 70% which voted against same sex marriage but also voted for Obama depicts the disconnect in the black Christian community. How can one be against same sex marriage but vote for a candidate that clearly supports it.People support the position of the candidate they vote for regardless ofwhat they say the do not support."

What Prince and many others fail to realize is that most African Americans are Christians who believe what the bible teaches about homosexual relationships and African Americans are prone to be pro-life rather than advocates for abortion. However, these two issues are not as high on the radar for African Americans as it is in white communities. Greater issues such as education, jobs, and health care take prominence when most African Americans are deciding who to cast their vote for. The African American vote for the democratic party had much more to do with the inflammatory rhetoric of the GOP rather than proclaiming support for gay rights and abortion.

Dr Jackson
Your stand goes beyond all the fake churchiness in the Black community as a whole.Jesus put it very clear,"If they hated me,they will hate you"Any biblical stand on anything will generate the venom that's called news. But truth always prevails....

Yes, you are, James …
… you are most certainly afraid. Everyone reading this can tell.

You are most assuredly afraid, and with good reason.

I encourage you to keep right on running.

You reveal that you are afraid when you spend your time posting here, on our forum, making those flaccid, pathetic, effeminate little accusations instead of going on about your own life, minding your own business and leaving other people in peace.

You prove you are afraid when you reply to my post by saying: "I am in no way running scared from the good rev and I am most certainly not running scared of you."

That is called "the lady doth protest too much." It is your painfully obvious attempt to cover up.

Yes, you are afraid.

The agenda of the homofascists for America is destructive and pernicious, and this is why you are encountering such fierce opposition from people here who have a spine. You are not going to just sashay in and destroy our traditions, way of life, culture, society and nation. You homofascists have picked a terrible fight.

Yes, you are running scared. Keep running. You have no idea what you've unleashed.

You attack Bishop Jackson because he frightens you. I don't blame you for your fear. He is an awesome and clear-thinking adversary, and he is fully committed to his cause. Your side was not counting on that.

He has Divine help, too. He is a Christian minister and is doing what true men of his calling are supposed to do, not just in the church but in society as well. He is doing his job.

What are YOU doing? You are meddling where you do not belong, and with things you do not understand.

Yes, you are afraid. And you have reason to be.

It's perfectly okay
for political groups representing the leftist agenda to be backed by big money such as George Soros and Arianna Huffington, but let anyone on the right gain access to money from wealthy sponsors who support their values and people act like conservatives belong in jail.

Reverend Jackson is right here, the attitudes and remarks are definitely racist, but even if these accusations were true and Jackson and the other ministers were supported by the GOP, there would be nothing wrong with it. Black conservatives have every right to have their voices heard and every right to receive funding from donors who support them.

Reverend Jackson and all
We are moving into a time in our country when Christian men and women and people who love our Constitution will have to demand that the government ENFORCE the rulings that they make.

When government requires a church to violate its own faith and conscience, we will no longer be able to just “go along to get along”. We will have to say “No” and let the chips fall where they may.

Of course, God has required us to be obedient to the laws of the land in which we live, but not when those laws violate direct commandments from God.

We must all be prepared for the ultimate in consequences, because those who want to remake our country will not roll over and play dead. We will be imprisoned and even possibly executed if we stand for what is right. We must be prepared to pay the price.

Generations before us had to lay down their lives to resist tyranny. Are we better than they? If we think we are going to get off easy, we are deluding ourselves.

Jesse Jr. and the FBI
Jesse Jackson Jr. could be holding conversations with the justice department about the criminal activities of Jesse Sr. and all of his associates. It would be a great day in America if community organizations would ever have to stand trials for their terroristic activities. How would the current administration react if gaither would stand before cameras and announce sealed indictments against Acorn, Planned Parenthood, Rainbow Coalition and others. All their pastors and preachers would play Monte Hall and make deals.

Reverend Jackson
Liberals are racists, by and large. And you are what white racists fear the most, a truly independent black man.

You scare the heck out of them.

Keep up the good work.

Democrats Abandon Martin Luther King
Republicans need to wake up and realize they have a golden opportunity. It has now been 35 years since the worst overt discrimination was ended in this country. Second generation middle class blacks are now becoming adults and having children themselves, blacks who have never known poverty first hand. Many middle class blacks will have the same concerns with high taxes, crime, poor education, ineffective government, weak defense and social decay that democrats have saddled the country with. Blacks as a group tend to be socially conservative so they would be receptive to Republican’s social agenda.

Republicans must convince blacks that they are serious about fighting specific cases of discrimination. A good place to start would be to make Martin Luther King’s principles fundamental to the Republican platform. Democrats have abandoned Dr. King’s principles, that people should be judged by their character and not by the color of their skin. Democrats now treat race as a fundamental dividing issue, pitting one race against the other and giving one group special treatment at the expense of another because of race in direct contrast to Dr. King’s message. With This plays right into Republican’s hands along with their commitment to social conservatism and opposition to government intrusion that will become more important over time, especially as Democrats make a disaster of the economy through big government meddling.

Tammy,
Reply #11. I find your comments amusing. You marched for us? OK! Thanks, but what you want is to continue to highjack the Civil Rights movement. Homosexuals have been indoctrinated into accepting a manufatured right by sleazy leftist lewyers in the Judiciary.

There is no right for homosexuals to marry. You want to change what has been a reality since the beginning of time. I don't care how much you people snivel, the majority of Americans will never accept your manufactured right to pervert the sanctity and the meaning of marraige.

The Victim Card

I wonder if crying that the media doesn't think he's smart because he's not a liberal will sway people.

Well, it doesn't matter to me if Jackson is black, white, rich, poor, highly educated or self-taught.

I am a Christian. I believe in Jesus Christ. I made Jesus Christ my Lord and Savior in 1983.

I do not support using the government to control the personal relationships of consenting adult same-sex couples.

I do not believe the Bible condemns same-sex relationships.

For example, there is a passage in 1 Corinthians 6 which supposedly condemns homosexuality.

The original King James Version had it listed as "effeminate". The New King James Version says "homosexuals", but there is a footnote.

The term they have now decided to translate as "homosexuals" actually refers to catamites.

Catamites are boys in sexual relations with adult men!

Anyone can verify this by going to biblegateway.org, looking up 1 Corinthians 6 in the New King James Version, and reading the footnote.

Now obviously a sexual relationship between boys and adult men would involve homosexuality. But personally I find it hard to believe that God concerns himself with consenting adult same-sex relationships, but has nothing at all to say about pedophilia.

And there's no mention of lesbians. These kinds of things are found whenever you look further into the few passages that people use to hurt gay, lesbian, and bi-sexual citizens.

Mary MO right on
What many straight Americans are tired of is the radical homosexual agenda being crammed down our throats.

Gays seem to be leading characters in all TV programs. Always being portrayed as leading great lives and always flaunting their sexual identity.

Gays are screaming that their rights are being violated what denied the right to call their unions marriage.

I will never consider anal intercourse the consummation of marriage vows and will consider any government that does to be promoting immorality.

Mary,
Although I do respect your right to your own belief, please do not spout nonsense in your defense of it. "It is a scientific fact that homosexual relationships (just as with promiscuous or perverse heterosexual relationships) foster and spread STDs. Faithful, heterosexual relationships (otherwise known as marriage) do not."
Could you please cite the studies that have determined this? Many homosexual relationships are just as committed and monogamous as any heterosexual relationships. Just exactly how would a monogamous homosexual relationship spread STD?
No, I am not a homosexual, far from it. But I do have close friends who are, and many of them are in committed relationships, not spreading STD to anybody, at any time. STD doesn't care if people are homosexual or heterosexual, it cares only if you have multiple sex partners.
I do respect your right to have an opinion, and to put your opinion forth. I just think that your opinion would be even more respectable if you didn't try to back it up with incorrect "facts."

Traditional Marriage?

It's a funny thing. Two people who believe in Jesus Christ, attend church regularly, study their Bible, pray, worship God, are a stable and productive couple who contribute to society, never engage in sodomy, and so on, cannot be called married because they're lesbians.

But any pair of devil worshiping drug addicts with a copy of Hustler on their coffee table, who had three kids they can't afford to raise, watch TV a hundred and seventy-two hours a week, and always vote Democrat...them we sanction because they're straight. Them society gives its blessing.

David S
Your therapist called and he is concerned as you have not been taking your medication. You are one nut job there boy with serious issues. All I can say is that marriage equality will be the law in our great state of New York by 2012.

To Notmyprez:
The practices of homosexuals and lesbians are grossly unsanitary (as are the practices of "kinky" heterosexuals). If Homosexuals are faithful to each other, which is a huge "if," they may not spread disease to other people, but they are pretty certain to contract diseases themselves as a result of the things they do together.

Mary
I appreciate that you claim you are not trying to demonize. But who is being muzzled here? I have no problems with you expressing your views. You have every right to. What makes you think you are being silenced. There is a whackjob "pastor" in Kansas who has been spouting hatred for years with his in-bred offspring and he has not been stopped. No one is attempting to silence Bishop Jackson. But people have to understand they cannot work to deny equality to fellow Americans merely because they are uncomfortable with some of their fellow Americans. Gay people cannot be 2nd class citizens in this great land of ours. As for the concerns expressed about children, I see nothing wrong with adolescents learning that gay people exist (and have always existed)just as children realize that people of other races and religions exist. Once and for all understand that people are born gay. Gay people are not recruited, indoctrinated or what ever else so many on this site seem to think.

Mary
I am nearly 1/2 a century old and do not have and never have had and STD. I have no plans to ever have one.

Once and for all, horse pucky
"Once and for all understand that people are born gay."

No they are not, no more than an adulterer is born to be an adulterer.

To Read it Yourself and James:
James, I am glad that you have never contracted an STD. Can you say as much for your friends?

Also, I just read in Newsmax that Alameda(I think), California, is planning a [sex-ed] course for elementary school children from which the parents are not permitted to have their children opt-out. This is the kind of thing to which conservatives object. Our children are being forceably immersed in matters they don't need to confront at such tender ages. Perhaps they'd be better off studying things like: reading, writing, spelling, grammar, math, history, etc. . . . Call me crazy, if you wish, but I don't think schools have the time to teach all these other things, and kids don't really need to be force-fed political correctness, especially not kindergarten through fifth or sixth grades.

Read it Yourself, evidently you have never read it yourself. There is only one kind of sexual relationship of which The Lord approves: heterosexual married love. Any other form of sexual expression is forbidden. You can read it for yourself in Leviticus 18 - 20. Furthermore, the St. Paul does speak regarding homosexuality and appears to be referring to lesbianism: Romans 1:26-27.

James,
If I've heard it once, I've heard it a thousand times ... NO ONE is born Gay!!! Sexual preference is just that ... a preference! You have sex with other men because you PREFER to.

How do I know? You know what they say. Been there done that. If only for for the grace of Jesus I'd still be there I'd still be there doing it.

Much genetic has done in the area and as yet no gene has been found to support the notion that any body is 'born' gay. Sorry, it just ain't,so!.

Donald 2:55
How do I know? You know what they say. Been there done that. If only for for the grace of Jesus I'd still be there I'd still be there doing it....

An alcoholic who stops drinking is still an alcoholic.
So with your logic, should we assume everyone is born straight? If so, what basis are you using for your assumption?

Keith:
Donald can probably answser for himself, but I'm going to take a moment to insert my answer to your question of him. How do we know people are not born homosexual?

"So God created man in His own image, in the image of God created He him; male and female created He them. And God blessed them and God said unto them, 'Be fruitful and multiply . . .'" (Genesis 1:27-28a)

You will never find a doctor or nurse in maternity ward proclaiming, "It's a homosexual;" or "It's a lesbian;" only "It's a boy," or "It's a girl," (except in those rare instances where the sexuality of the newborn is ambiguous).

How we become emotionally identified with our own sex is, it seems, a mysterious phenomenon that occurs very early in our existences, but it is a psychological phenomenon, not a physical one (except, as I mentioned above, in those rare instances where the sex of the child is ambiguous). It is frequently caused by abuse or neglect by one parent or the other, or even by abuse by an adult other than a family member.

Thank You
Thank You , Rev. Jackson for your leadership, witness, and faith. I peay that God will raise up more leaders with your courage and integrity. I know you will not give up the fight for the soul of America. Mt prayers are with you. I believe God has raised you up "for such a time as this". If Christians will stand for Biblical principles in love, God will deal with evil. Thank you for leading the way.

Thank You, Sir:
I do appreciate your post. How arrogant and hypocritical of the liberal commentators. If their statements are not 'racial' and 'demeaning' I don't know what they are. Paul Pegors

why you think they call it 'right', ct
You're not protecting marriage from divorce, not from domestic violence, not from addiction, not from adultery, not from NON married parents of children, not children.

Our federal and state Constitutions can't protect marriage from those things either. You can't legislate what the ROLE of men or women nor KEEP them in marriages or connected to children THEY DON'T want.
So in effect, NO tradition was saved (they change all the time). No marriages, no children, no nothing.
Not gay people either.

Of course the standards oft spoken of that are changed against gay people are standards that straight people can't meet either. The difference is they aren't forced to choose between having that, at the expense of their basic needs.

Reply to Mary in MO

Mary, you wrote, "Read it Yourself, evidently you have never read it yourself. There is only one kind of sexual relationship of which The Lord approves: heterosexual married love. Any other form of sexual expression is forbidden. You can read it for yourself in Leviticus 18 - 20."

Mary, I appreciate that this is what you have been taught, and I understand that many church leaders teach this one point of view regarding the Leviticus passages; however, many do not.

And since the Apostles met to decide which sins the gentiles should specifically avoid, and homosexuality was not included, one is obliged to look deeper.

But even a normal reading of these passages is pretty clear.

Some people, obviously not gay people, were worshiping false gods, idols, instead of God. Then, and only then, God gave them over.

The Bible does not specify what God gave them over to; but whatever it was, they were not into it until God gave them over; and He did not give them over until after they participated in this idol worship.

No women are mentioned.

And then there is the other side of the issue. Let's assume that what God gave them over to was sodomy, for argument sake, and that we are going to ban people from being called "married" because God does not like sodomy.

Do we not also have to then ban straight couples from marrying, if they engage in sodomy? Isn't sodomy just as "unnatural" for a man-woman couple?

Mary in MO
You're misinformed, and further...perhaps you're too lazy to seek anything more than a superficial stereotype on the subject.
That gays and lesbians care to marry, fight so hard to and have children to protect also, IS speaking volumes to respect for marriage and family.

You lift the veil of privacy of sexuality against gay people you wouldn't do to your hetero neighbors.
Your prurience is showing. It's your own dirty underwear we see.

You cannot now, nor EVER know what a hetero couple does or what qualities they have just because they are hetero and the same goes for if someone is homosexual.

As for anyone accusing gay people of shoving anything down your throats: that's code for you sure couldn't take what you dish out for two seconds.

So be in denial that gay people are doing the right things, doing the same things that when done by straight people are applauded. Such as serving in uniform and adopting unwanted children just for starters.

Gay people have had to UNDESERVEDLY handle a lot more injustice from the dominant culture than the other way around.
Equality ISN'T injustice to YOU. The recognition of the humanity and productivity of gay people isn't an injustice to you.

Yet, your complaining NEVER ends no matter WHAT gay people do.
And THAT is when we all know you HAVE no good reason to be or feel the way you do.
You just do.
Fine.

As long as it doesn't manifest in injustice in the law and inequality in practice of public policy.

Homosexuality is Bad for Society!
On Black Ministers,As long as they fight for God,Jesus and the Holy Bible and true marriage between a man and a woman, then they will be okay.To vote for someone just because their black or white, yellow or red without checking their convictions on abortion, gay rights, gay marriage and other issues, you are hitting a roulette wheel and asking for trouble.I didn't vote for Obama knowing the Democrats support gay marriage, gay rights and abortion.I won't give my vote to any politician who supports such wickedness.Any homosexual man,or woman who attends church and denies God's word,Leviticus18:22,Romans1:18-32,1Corinthians6 is really an apostate church that promotes what God has already said,"I hate homosexuality."To force homosexuality down everyones throat in schools and in society is immoral and those who do so will answer to God for promoting wickedness in life.

Denise....Earth to Denise
Denise, this seems to be the ONLY subject that brings out the sermons, wearing one's religion on the sleeve.
Give. It. A. Break.

The fact remains that those who are your interpretation of sinner doesn't have to forfeit their civil rights to please YOU or anyone who has your same beliefs.

You can choose or not, to have a religious life. It's not up to you to demand that others require it.
Which would be impossible in practice and consistency.
Our freedom and equality loving society is being held to it's own creed and mission statement.
And gay citizens, as I said, whose charity, courage, talent and industry would be APPLAUDED were they heterosexuals, shouldn't be restrained from such activity for so SUPERFICIAL a reason not required of their hetero equivalent.

It's obvious people who are very different from one another CAN be held to the same standards and our society benefit from it.

Pretending that's not also true of gay people clearly shows an unprecedented cowardice and laziness with regard to gay lives.
You're not fooling me, or anyone who has done their homework with all your preachy blather.

If the world were really like you preach, your life as a woman would hold such misery. Especially considering how women are blamed for all the bad that happens in the world too.
