Will the Dems' health care Christmas Present to America be an improvement or detriment to our health care system?

Two weeks ago, more than two-dozen civil rights, African-American, agriculture, senior citizen, and veteran advocacy groups came together to begin the STOP THE WAR ON THE POOR Campaign. We announced our support of legislation of any kind that will increase domestic energy supplies and decrease energy costs for our domestic poor. We especially like the Americans for American Energy Act (HR6384), which offers significant short-term and long-term solutions to our energy woes that amount to economic enslavement of the poor. The increase of African-American and senior groups speaking out on this issue is a new and unexpected twist in this debate. Evidently, it has made a lot of people nervous on Capitol Hill.

This week a partisan political group, funded by radical green groups, is answering our call. US House of Representative Majority Whip James E. Clyburn and several African-American leaders will release their take on the impact of climate change on the poor - especially the African-American community. Although credible experts will be called to stand with them, the central question of how to alleviate the short term suffering (5 or less years) of the urban and rural poor will likely remain unanswered.

My premise for continuing my comments from last week is that no one has realistically taken up the cause of the poor in the discussion of energy policy. I hope that the information here will inspire you to join a growing army of justice-minded Americans that believe we should not turn over our national checkbook without knowing the specific return on investment we will receive for our efforts. Further, environmental justice must include consideration of the domestic poor who live in New York, Chicago, and DC. This faceless and voiceless group must be represented.

If gasoline prices rise to $6/gallon, the situation will financially destroy many vulnerable citizens who are living on the edge in this challenging economic environment.

Here are some facts I would like you to consider:

• Median-income families devote about a nickel on every dollar of income to energy costs, while poor families must devote as much as 50 cents on their dollar.

• High-energy prices are one of the single biggest drivers of homelessness.

• The nation's low-income population pays three to seven times more on energy than non-low income households.

• In order to cope with higher home energy and gasoline costs, 70 percent of households have reduced food purchases; 30 percent reduced purchases of medicine and 20 percent changed plans for their own or their children’s education.

• Eight percent of households with incomes between $33,500 and $55,000 have had their electricity shut off this year due to non-payment.

• Rural counties in the South and West are hit hardest. Families in many southern counties, and several in Wyoming, are spending 10 to 15 percent of their income on fuel.

• Escalating energy prices have a disproportionate impact on the elderly. In a recent survey, more than two-thirds of people 65 and older said that the recent rise in gas prices has caused them a great deal or a fair amount of financial hardship. Given their median household income is less than $30,000 a year seniors have been forced to make significant changes to their daily schedules and spending habits.

• Rising gasoline prices have severely affected the volunteer base, which serves the poor and needy. Meals on Wheels reports that 58 percent of its centers have “lost volunteers due to gas prices” and 48.3 percent reported that “increases in gas prices had forced them to eliminate meal delivery routes or consolidate meal services” • The National Association of Area Agencies on Aging reported that over 73 percent of agencies said it is more difficult to retain volunteers and over 74 percent said it is more difficult to recruit volunteers.

• In some areas, Goodwill will no longer do home pickups for donated items because gas prices are too high.

Our group of diverse representatives from African-American, civil rights, agriculture, Christian, senior citizen, veteran and consumer rights communities are linking arms to conduct a national campaign to:

• Educate the American people to the fact that this “War on the Poor” is occurring,

• Educate the news media to look behind the press releases and the political spin of some of our politicians and see the cruel impacts of these policies on the poor, and

• Educate policymakers to the real and daily impacts of policies that restrict energy supply and raise prices.

There are a few glimmers of hope, however. For example, President Bush has lifted the Executive Order on new oil and gas exploration on the Outer Continental Shelf. This is an important first step, but must be followed by specific congressional action. Billions of barrels of oil and new supplies of natural gas are available to America if we do this. We have decades of supply under our control – but we must act now.

We will not stop until we change federal policies and encourage more US energy for Americans, and better incentives for energy conservation. We are thankful that we have legislators from both parties in our campaign. Bi-partisanship is truly rare in these days.

Will you join us? Visit http://www.stopwaronpoor.org to educate yourself on the issues. Start discussions with your co-workers and friends to increase their awareness of the problem. Finally, let your congressional representatives know that you are watching how they respond to this crisis and this will greatly influence how you vote in the upcoming elections.

Im ready!
We went out and spent $800 on an old motorcycle for my husband to commute on, and I usually telecommute. We're now saving a ton on gas. There are a lot of things people can do to drastically reduce energy use. Instead of whining and waiting for other people to do things for you, do for yourself.

Energy, Race, and the poor
First, I applaud the elevation of the issue of both the unnecessary high cost of energy and its impact on lower income households. That it was necessary in anyway to connect it to any ethnic class, is over the top.

The high cost of energy has no boundaries, not race, religion, ideology or personal situation. Yes, some are more adversely affected by virtue of their income availability but it is a separate issue entirely. If this issue had to be framed in terms of "RACE" to get Rep. Clyburn's attention, we have a very serious problem indeed.

When it becomes necessary to present the reality of a national crisis in terms of its racial component for it to rise to the attention of a member of Congress, that congress has failed us. And the fact that an issue is relevant only when it meets a racial threshold screams incompetence.

Color me racist if you must but when the only fact that would seem to motivate a member of congress is that which aggrandizes him or her to their ethnicity, is a clear understanding of why the "big picture" never gets addressed.

We are not the Balkans yet, however, this level of ethnic myopia will surely make it a reality.

thats great but..
People conserving will not help low income people hit hard by the gas prices.

They are high due to the Feds blocking the energy companies from using our resources. The Feds need to stop controlling the market and let the consumers do it.

The tin can
of accountability and responsibility has been kicked down the road about as far as it will go. The "poor" who are most hurt by the failure of our governmental representatives to deal with reality have led the way in electing legislators who promise them a free lunch. Our energy dependence was a clear and present danger in 1973 when our vulnerability to OPEC snits was demonstrated. My last couple vehicles got 39 mpg. The millions of folks who ignored reality, voted for incompetents, and bought gas guzzling behemoths are reaping the results. They continue to return over 90 per cent of the scallywags who ignored the energy problem, and continue to ignore the entitlement debts which baby boomer demographics will soon turn into financial ruin, and the illegal alien situation which will reduce American born unskilled labor to the standard of living experienced by the aliens who will compete for their jobs. 40 years of prosperity have turned the political savvy of 2 generations of Americans to mush. I've got mine, Jack. I feel a little anxiety for my grand children, though. At least they are doing well in school. Doctors and engineers always make out ok.

animalgirl
Careful hon. You are taking a conservative tack as you assume responsibility for your well being. :-D

On the face of this statement
"Majority Whip James E. Clyburn and several African-American leaders will release their take on the impact of climate change on the poor - especially the African-American community."

====
It comes across as being as racist as it gets.

"especially the African-American community"

This does not cause me to feel compassion for the "Africans" who live in America, just disgust that one more angle to turn into racial bs

animalgirl
Well....

I guess that solves the problem. How many low income people do you know that can telecommute to a labor job? How many do you know that has an extra $800 for another form of transportation? Kind of elitist aren't we?

Fat Dawg
Any hasty analysis of the possessions of the "poor" in America shows that they waste much larger sums than $800 on unnecessary junk like TVs, boom boxes, clothes and convenience food. Animal girl is a philosophical liberal, but she is also a contributor of personal responsibility.

15 Days and No Action by Reid/Pelosi
The US needs a comprehensive energy plan including all available sources: wind, solar, geothermal, coal, nuclear, oil, and natual gas. Carbon based fuel is an essential bridge to the future of alternative sustainable energy. A release of the offshore drilling ban by the Democrat majority Congress must be accomplished. An offshore drilling poll was released by Rasmussen at noon yesterday. Forty-two (42%) percent of those polled believe that offshore drilling is most important and forty-five (45%) believe that restricting speculators is most important. Please note that these are not opposites. To say they are, which Rasmussen does, is a false dichotomy. Both can be done, but Senator Reid will not allow a vote on the offshore drilling ban because he knows that many Democrats will be politically forced to vote for drilling. Senator Reid seems to be in the pocket of the environmentalist lobby. His most likely action will be to allow a little drilling here or there with obstructive restrictions that will allow no production of oil. Piece meal partial lifting of the ban is a political sham and must not be accepted.

Our nation needs a complete removal of the offshore drilling moratorium akin to the lead of President Bush 15 days ago, and we need it now. Senator Kit Bond (Rep: MO) has introduced three amendments to the speculation bill that will do just that. Every day of delay by the Democrat leadership will continue to damage our economy like a car wreck in slow motion. How many days will it take and how much damage is enough for Harry Reid and Nancy Pelosi. We are one day closer to the day when an American will not be able to pay his heating oil bill because of Democrat obstructionism. We are one day closer to the day when an American will lose his trucking job because of Democrat obstructionism Take action now Democrats, or be acted upon by the electorate in November.

I keep tellin' ya...
the republicans should come out "en masse" and state... vote for us and we drill January 21!! Vote for the dems and pay $6/gal and up! Or are the repubs really that dumb? or is it gutless?

$6.00 gal
Gas will never get to $6.00 a gallon. If you have been paying attention, the tipping point is around $4.00. People need to watch what the market does. Any higher then $4.00 and the ecomony starts to slow.

I would think....
that you would recognize the fact the the term "African-American" is used as a wedge by the PC crowd to divide Americans. We are all Americans, regardless of our heritage. Kwanza is the same thing, dreamed up in the 70's by some idiot in opposition to Christmas. The sooner we, as Americans, band together and stop letting ourselves be used by the pols in D.C. the better off we'll be. When we are one, our voice will be heard. Until then, we'll continue to be used, abused and ignored by the people we send to the Federal and State capitals to serve us. Realize that we are one people regardless of race and skin color.

I Don't Care....
Did not the Speaker of the house say that she didn't care if gas went to $10 a gallon???

Those darn Democrats, they really look out of the people!!

Good Post Jim (Location VA)
EPLURIBUS UNUM....OUT OF THE MANY ONE!

The Poor War On One Another
How many of the so called Poor that are so *hard hit* have wide-screen teevees, weigh more than 200 lb. and are pregnant with their fourth or fifth child by a man they couldnt pick out of a line-up?

REAL poor people, who do not classify themselves as ThePoor, by the way, are not sitting on the kerb on their fat heinies chanting WE WANTS HEP! WE WANTS HEP! REAL people who are short of money are tightening thir belts, not removing them because they cannot fasten them anymore; they are not hanging around food banks so they can spend their ready cash on chacha shoes, and they are not demanding that TheRich (that would be anybody with a job) forfeit THEIR goods so that Princess Congolia and her sister Tondolea can drive from their subsidized apartments to Wal-Mart to pick up another DVD.

I do not find any sympathy in my heart for someone who believes she is entitled to free gas because she is Black. Let her waddle to her shopping for a couple of months, and it will not only save her money but will trim 50 lb. off her heart and skinny those bridge-piling legs down to something recognizably human.

gas
The cause of high gasoline prices is not bi-partisan. 90% of democrats in congress vote to restrict oil drilling. 90% of republicans vote to increase oil drilling.

to: JohnnyM
Gas will never get to $6.00 a gallon.

Don't bet on that, JohnnyM.

Now that the politicians have seen the public can in fact get by at $4/gal, we will begin seeing never-ending tax increases in the name of "conservation" and "infrastructure repair".

Make no mistake about it. Politicians of all kinds will eat at that trough and keep prices high, and incrementally it will keep being pushed up to, as Nancy Pelosi is fond of saying "trying to save the planet"

JohnnyM
You sound as naive as I was in the 1970's when I was convinced gas would never get to $1.00 a gallon. back then the so-called tipping point was 75 cents a gallon.
Live and learn my naive friend.

Ralph
It is Democrats mostly at fault right now, but the danger of dependence on arab oil has been obvious since the embargo of '73. The GOP has had many years of power since '73. They did nothing with their opportunity to deal with energy dependence.....or illegal aliens or the Ponzi scheme financing endangering social security, or the rising cost and falling effectiveness of govt in general. There is enough blame to go around. Virtually every pol in DC should be replaced. Yet the stupid voters return 90 plus per cent of these jerks to office. The nation is getting exactly what we voted for. Neither Obama nor McCaine show any sign of being an improvement. I'm looking for a bumper sticker that says Don't blame me, i voted for Donald Duck. It will be appropropriate by July 2009 no matter who wins in November.

I'm not following this...
"African-American leaders will release their take on the impact of climate change on the poor - especially the African-American community."

Huh? Are you talking about the change in seasons? Otherwise, you've picked the wrong forum to talk about climate change much less how it affects a minority group. Preach climate change over at the KOS.

New York, Chicago, DC...let's add Philly, San Fran, Los Angeles, New Orleans and Detroit to that list. Harry, ask the poor to stop re-electing the same liberals to Congress. That's one of the best things that they can do to help themselves.

I do indeed feel terrible for the poor who must cut back on necessities in order to pay for energy, but I'm already voting for conservatives. There's not much else one can do. Democrats couldn't care less about the poor. Keeping their power is the only thing that drives them.

Drill Here Drill Now
Yes. For our economic and national security we must increase our supply. We have the oil. We need to go after it. Prices will come down, not tomorrow, but they will come down. I believe it is clear that Democrats do not want prices down so we can't use oil. But, drilling is one of the tools we must use to become energy independent. Go to newt.org and sign the Drill Here Drill Now petition. 1.3 milllion have signed..it will take more . Pray for America..that truth and righteousness will prevail

House Majority Whip Clyburn
DEMOCRAT, Black, South Carolina, says that his "Climate Chage Advocacy Group" will be advocating taxes on "Non-Hispanic Whites" in order to re-distribute that cash to ThePoor who are going to be Disproportionately Affected (Katrina Like) by Global Warming.

And this is going to stop Global Warming how?

Do you people not ever, ever, ever get it that your Race Card has EXPIRED?

Dems don't care about poor
They never have and never will. The poor are just another group to pander to and exploit for votes required to serve the Dems real constituency: radical environmentalists, ACLU, trial lawyers, gay lobby, ethnic lobbies, and other grievance groups. Nancy Pelosi is far too busy saving the planet to have time for American citizens being driven to the brink by high gas prices.
Ironically the Liberals won't do anything about population growth fueled by illegal immigration and its contribution to our skyrocketing energy needs.

How do they do that?
"The nation's low-income population pays three to seven times more on energy than non-low income households."
I don't understand how this statement is possible. Does this mean that the low-income population keeps their thermostat set at a less-prudent temperature than the non-low income population, or do non-low income people watch less television and turn their computers off at night? Are gas stations and utility companies charging different prices based on annual income? Are low-income families the ones I see driving around in Hummers and expensive SUV's? It seems to me that if low-income people pay more on energy, it's a matter of personal responsibility.

Christopher (fl)
Just to clear this up....

The lower income people spend a greater portion of their income on energy and food.

Example. If you make 30K per year and spend $500 per month on food and energy that is 20% of their monthly income. If you make 60K per year then you are spending about 10% of your income on food and energy.

Does that clear it up?

Also to PISTOL. Sounds like another elitist among us. Who are you to say what people spend their money on. As in your OPINION that lower income people are WASTEING their money.
Do you work for the government??

Fat Dawg
You beat me to the answer Christopher was looking for. That said, no amount of monies (within reason) given with no strings attached to 'poor' individuals will fix their problems. As soon as the money runs out and the guvmnt is fast approaching that time, then the poor will be no better off than they were. The only things that will change that fact are creation of programs that require upping you education and workforce eligibility to receive the help and accepting that a large part of the problem is of your own doing and only you can fix that. There are always exceptions of course, but a large percentage of the poor are their because of poor life choices (dropped out of school, teenage pregnacies, drugs, etc.). You know the old proverb, 'give a man a fish (guvmnt handout) and he eats for a day, teach him to fish and he eats for a lifetime'. No truer words were every spoken as evidenced by the dismal failure of the guvmnt welfare system.

Pistol
Bush has been trying for over 7 years to get more drilling for oil. It takes 60 votes in the U.S. senate to pass it. The republicans passed it in the 1990's and Clinton vetoed it. On the other items, I agree that the republicans are as bad as the Dems. Drilling for oil is the most important issue at this time.

Excellent Point
Mr. Jackson,

Your column is excellent in pointing out that while well off citizens may consider high gas prices annoying, it is a matter of life and death to the poor. So why would Democats, who claim to be for the little guy, stand in the way of opening up drilling, increasing domestic supply and driving down the price of gasoline?

Take a look at the people they represent; the wealthy environmental lobby (Al Gore and others) and remember that this is where the money comes from to get them re-elected. Average citizens are all for clean air and clean water, don't misunderstand. But technology has made drilling for oil much cleaner and safer than it was originally. And catalytic converters turn carbon monoxide to carbon dioxide (pushed on the auto industry by environmental legislation), so we now have a greener America. We're using the gasoline anyway, why not make it cheaper?

At FedUpNetwork.com, we are dedicated to lowering gas prices by forcing elected officials to listen to the voices of the public. We have lots of action items to help get the word out. Let's help in adopting a sane energy policy for this country.

Editor
FedUpNetwork.com

Clyburn is the problem
You may think James Clyburn is a friend to the poor. He is a wipping boy for Nancy Pelois, he will do anything she tells him to do, including watching the country go down the drain just to get the Democrates elected. He just has to keep the earmark money coming in which buys him votes and keeps is faimly working.

Europe: Is it the future?
Europeans have been paying gas prices several times our rates for years. What they have [especially in Germany] that we don't is a great public transportation system that allows you to not use your car.

Christopher
It's a matter of percentages. Lower income folks spend a higher percentage of their income on energy and as energy costs escalate, that percentage becomes even higher. So if your income is $1500 per month and you spend $300 per month on gasoline, heating and electricity, you are spending 20% of your income on energy. If your energy costs double to $600 per month, you are now spending 40% of your income on energy. For a person making $4500 per month, $300 per month is about 7% of their income. If their cost doubles to $600, the percentage of income for energy is now about 13% of income.
So you can see that an energy cost increase is tough on lower income people and in that light you can see that the article by Mr. Jackson is right to call it a War on the Poor.

We must increase production of oil and gas in this country now. The Democrats led by Harry Reid must stop their delaying tactics and lift the ban on offshore oil development in the same way that President Bush did 15 days ago. What are they waiting for? Real people are going to be hurt. Don't they care?

I'm not, are you?
Does anyone know what percentage of lower income earning people consistently vote for democrats? Releasing strategic reserve is a drop in the bucket of what we need, so to block domestic drilling is tactic to ruin the poor.

$6 per gallon fuel will just steepen the downward spiral and get us there faster. Increases in fuel ripple to every segment of our economy from food to tourism. In the rocky mountains, natural gas is the primary way to heat homes in the winter. During high pressure weather, wood and other burn fuels are restricted because of pollution/health concerns. So, natural gas will invariably start the upward trend for cost too. The real hardships have started in years past for the eastern folk. This winter will be cold, hard hell for them. Another stimulus package will only weaken the dollar and ultimately not solve anything. Congress' approval rating is dismal now, will they receive actual threats in January when the IQ challenged people of this nation increase democratic control in all houses including the white one? It's as if we're drowning and congress watches and maybe offers us more water.

Amen!
Amen! Keep on speaking the truth..

Change parties
If poor and minority voters want the war on the poor stopped, they are going to have to take responsibility for their votes. For decades Democrats have voted against the poor in energy, environmental, foreign policy, trade, tax and, most importantly, educational policies.

For African Americans and other poor to vote for job destroyers, poor education, high tax party, then these are the consequences.

If African Americans put their votes up for grabs - rather than voting at 80%+ rates for the party that stood in the door and yelled "Segregation now. Segregation forever!" their lives might change.

Dr King was a Republican for a reason.

Why do the poor vote for Democrats?
Almost 90% of African American vote Democrat and will vote for Obama just because he is black. The Dems know this and so there is no reason to do anything that might help the poor and under employed. Actually the hope for the poor is a better education, free enterprize, and better jobs. When the Democrats continue to worship at the alter of enviromentalism, global warming, high taxes, and anti-business regulations it hurts those at the bottom most. Pelosi and Reid now refuse to agree to lifting the ban on drilling, so we will be paying $6.00 a gallon for gas and much more, again those at the bottom working at McDonalds pay the same to get to work as the COE of General Electric or more than Pelosi who gets a free government ride and could not care less. Democrats are no friends to the poor, its a shame they fail to see it.

The Poor Vote For
Democrats because the media craft their news to present democrats as "saviors" of the poor and republicans as "fat cat rich bigots."

It's really quite simple. It used to be called propaganda but is actually considered to be "objective" journalism now.

Why?

Because the Marxist's can't win if issues are truthfully debated and both sides are fairly presented. The problem for them is that people recognize lies and deceit and vote against it every time they have the chance. The point is to not give them one.

IT WAS A RHETORICAL QUESTION
They vote democratic because the democrats continue each election with campaign rhetoric telling them we feel your pain and will solve all your problems for you...bla, bla, bla,. NOTHING ever gets done for them even when democrats call the shots. Even if they tried to solve their problems, it would tank the economy and increase unemployment...oh...that's what's happening now. Education and work are the answers to most people's hardships. The work is the sticking point. Education requires work and work is difficult for some no matter what ethnicity or skin color. Hell, I feel lazy from time to time, but my 3 young children require dad to go to work...pays the bills.

Halt the increase in commodities pricing, mainly fuel, and you'll see a correction to food prices, unemployment start reversing, and the economy begin to move forward. Otherwise, watch more manufacturing go elsewhere, unemployment rise, and more socialist type rhetoric from liberals. $6 gas will price communters out of their jobs, stop cynergy spending at restraunts and entertainment venues, etc, etc.

Invest in Goose Down Blankets
On the one hand community leaders do need to be concerned about people who are relatively poor.

On the other, as shown in the book called who moved my cheese, the smart rat finds the snack.

Instead of complaining some people could organize a duck farm and make goose down blankets people can use to stave off hypothermia when their heat gets turned off this winter. They still have six months or so before the freezing weather hits.

It is entirely possible...
there will be $6.00 a gallon gas. That mortgage bailout bill was just passed. The reason gas is high as it is now is inflation, brought on by a spendthrift government, under Republicans, no less. Bush signed the bill today and oil jumped $5 more a barrel. This Bernanke is an inflation lunatic. He believes it works and, of course, it is indeed the poor who suffer most from it.

THE PROTECTORS
The democrats are the self-proclaimed protectors of the poor. However, the same campaign rhetoric gets yelled every election year. And the people continue to believe it as if they go into the voting booth, bend over, and then say thank you can I have another. To prevent at least a vote for energy policy is just a way to say "yes we know you're using a larger portion of your income for energy and it hurts, but get used to it."

Those who vote democratic everytime, is it working for us? Don't use the canned answer "it's the GOP's fault" because dems have had control for coming up on 2 years. Now don't think I'm defending the GOP since I believe they have squandered what little credibility they once had, and in my opinion are just as dirty as the rest of them. We need a bigger turnover in congress every other year and from now on, ONE TERM PRESIDENTS.

Harry Jackson
You give many facts but, fail to take into account the biggest one. While many poor people will be literally starved to death, one cannot ignore the overall threat to the planet that we know about due to some cute software some greenies developed that has proven beyond a shadow of a doubt that the planet is indeed threatened so, well, some eggs gotta be broken. You know, the good of the many has to take precedence over the good of the few, the poor, the unconnected politically.

The individual tragedies will be unreported. The progress of the CO2 reductions will be celebrated as we de-industrialize. The fact that the standard of living for everyone will decline, affecting the poor first and hardest but, affecting almost everyone eventually is sad but, necessary.

If it weren't such a global threat, perhaps we would not have to take such drastic action but, alas, there is a consensus we are told. Airline travel will need to be eliminated almost immediately except for important work to combat the global killer our climate has become thanks to our greedy desire to improve our lives.

Ae YOU ready for this???
As of today’s posting I found this assortment of great news because you see the economy is just great and this will help prove it. One must understand most middle and all upper class must find the reason for all of this economic trouble. The trouble comes from supporting the poor and less fortunate then themselves. So the poor must go! My question is GO WHERE? You wish them dead? Come on people let’s not be so stupid. The consumer is not causing this mess. Congress and our own Government are, as big Business has the Gov. in its pocket! Just read below!

“The country didn't get the energetic rebound in economic growth hoped for from the government's tax rebates in the second quarter, and the economy jolted into reverse at the end of 2007, raising new recession fears.”

“HOUSTON - Exxon Mobil Corp. reported second-quarter earnings of $11.68 billion Thursday, the biggest profit from operations ever by any U.S. corporation, but the results were well short of Wall Street expectations and its shares slumped 3 percent”

“SACRAMENTO, Calif. - With California's cash dwindling and legislators still debating a new budget, Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger eliminated 22,000 part-time and temporary state positions Thursday and ordered that 200,000 state workers receive the federal minimum wage.”

Obama says that....
... "No U.S. corporation ever made that much in a quarter," Obama said. "But while Big Oil is making record profits, you are paying record prices at the pump and our economy is leaving working people behind."

Ya! It is the poor / less fortunate working class people that are causing this problem with the economy. It all comes to light now and it is bright as day. We have got to do something with the freeloading bums and do it quick before they drag us all down. Ya that is what the next president must do as Commander and Chief. Declare war on the less fortunate / the bums so they can’t reproduce and we no longer have to pay for them so locking them all up will be good. Now that we have fixed welfare and Medicaid all we have left to fix is the Illegal Aliens!

The fix is simple Mr. Jackson, Jr.
