Will the Dems' health care Christmas Present to America be an improvement or detriment to our health care system?

During the last two weeks there have been several nationally known writers or political pundits who have taken swipes at the remaining visible leadership of the religious right. Critics from the left say that “Humpy Dumpty” has finally fallen and cannot put himself back together again. Critics from the right say that movement leaders have failed to direct their ground troops. Skeptics from both sides agree that the recent deaths of leaders such as D. James Kennedy and Jerry Falwell mark the end of an era.

But what next?

Seen as a group of sexually repressed, white men who hunger and thirst for power, this movement has been characterized as being anti-black, anti-woman, anti-poor, and anti-gay. In today’s America, these stereotypes hardly seem American and definitely not Christian. These images are not only outdated, they are untrue.

Anticipating a change, several reporters have even attempted to anoint new leaders and to magnify natural divisions within a massive grass roots movement. Many groups are pulling for their “guys or gals” to emerge as the new leadership. The evangelical movement is going through a maturing process, which will eventually increase its influence in the next few political cycles. Unlike the past twenty years in which television ministries like Falwell’s Old Time Gospel Hour and Kennedy’s Coral Ridge Hour trumpeted directives to the faithful, local pastors with huge media ministries will probably not lead the way – except in select black churches.

Popular Christian teachers are becoming increasing wary of jeopardizing speaking engagements, members support, media partners, or product sales. The prophetic role of the politically active is not an assignment toward which many pastoral media darlings are running. Black ministers seem to have been given a little more leeway to engage in the culture wars than their white counterparts. While many black parishioners remember that it was the clergy-led, civil rights movement that advanced the national status of blacks in this nation, pastors of all ethnicities will need increasingly focused policy groups to help point the way.

The new religious right will be assisted by thousands of pastors who will nurture their members in clear, biblical principles. The strategy for this movement will come from trusted voices that are currently emerging from regional to national prominence.

The religious right is changing in terms of race, gender and age. Although the numbers are difficult to quantify, there is an enormous groundswell of millions of younger, multicultural converts. These converts may well prove to be more predictable than the values voters of the last few years.

Groups like Teen Mania, which is headquartered in Garden Valley, Texas are raising up a new generation of faithful believers. Teen Mania’s purpose is to “provoke a young generation to passionately pursue Jesus Christ, and to take His life-giving message to the ends of the earth.” Their founder is Reverend Ron Luce who holds both bachelor’s and master’s degrees in Counseling and Psychology, respectively. In addition, he is a graduate of the Harvard Business School’s Owner/President Management Program. This unique blend of management and ministry credentials has allowed Luce to create an excellently managed organization.

Teen Mania hosts Acquire the Fire and Battle Cry events that bring teens together during weekends to praise, pray and hear words of challenge. In 2005, for example, they conducted over 30 Acquire the Fire/Battle Cry (ACF/BC) weekends with an estimated 250,000 youth. Twenty-six ACF/BC events are scheduled in the first six months of 2008.

See You at the Pole (SYATP) is another movement that is investing in a radical young generation of future values voters. It’s important that our readers grasp the significance of SAYTP movement. At this annual event, high school kids from 12 to 18 begin to form relationships that will help them grow in faith. Here’s how the movement started.

In 1990, a few teens gathered for a discipleship weekend in Burleson, Texas. The teens became burdened for their friends at school. This group of teens joined with others who birthed a vision that students all over Texas would meet at their school flagpoles simultaneously to pray. A challenge was put forth to gather as many as possible to “See You at the Pole” on September 12, 1990. At 7:00 a.m. on that date, more than 45,000 students met at their school flagpoles in four different states to pray.

The news about this prayer movement spread to youth ministers at a national conference in Colorado. Even though there were no plans for a second SYATP event, it was clear that students would create one. One million students gathered on September 11, 1991 at flagpoles from Massachusetts to California. Again they prayed for their friends, schools, and leaders…and they also prayed for their country.

See You At the Pole has continued to grow. More than 3 million students from every state participate joining with students in over 20 countries, including Japan, Turkey, Australia, and the Ivory Coast. Paul Fleischmann, president of the National Network of Youth Ministries says, ““Every year, we have seen this day serve as a springboard for unity among teenagers on their campuses. … Young people have taken unprecedented leadership through this to have a positive impact at their schools.”

These are just two movements that are taking important cultural territory. But from the evidence of these two alone, you can see that the religious right definitely has a past… but it also has quite a future ahead.

?What do they pray for
What does this new Hitler Jugend pray for?

But what about your title?
Mr. Jackson, you didn't address the question you asked in your column's title.

The answer is quite simple anyway. Since the Left abhors any source of authority or guidance higher than itself, it cannot abide religious faith. Belief in God and the determination to abide by the laws of nature we call the Commandments are serious obstacles to the creation of the cult of personality every totalitarian state seems to require.

"Springboard for unity"
Hordes of young people trained to follow blindly their leadrs, to forget all driotical thinking, to believe that they're entitled to oppress others, trained to believe that they're superior to others...

Trained in unity... Hitler Jugend.

Van's Comment
I don't understand Van's comment. This isn't a column about the environmental movement.

Praying for...
Van-

They are praying for people like yourself. As will I...

To Van
"Hordes of young people trained to follow blindly their leadrs, to forget all driotical thinking, to believe that they're entitled to oppress others," No...To respect and honor, to stand for freedom...to be what we as a people too often neglect. Van...your two cents fell to the floor...but thats ok...we see your intent.

God bless America
I also see a growing of the spiritual base .The line is being drawn in the sand. Pick a side.Together we stand and we will not let the father of lies stop us .One person running for president is prolife , promarriage , profamily , served on a mission , was a bishop , loves Jesus , was a gov. , saved the olympics , has five sons , got 51 % of The Value Voters Summit vote , is leading in the first 5 states , is married for 38 years , his wife has MS , and her name is Ann Romney.

Youth movement
Hitler youth were organized from the top down. Today's youth organize themselves as the Holy Spirit moves them in response to the decadent society they observe.

Hey Van
I agree with you, those global warming zealots are training kids to follow their leaders blindly. Heck, they even gave al-Gore a Nobel Prize for doing his part to indoctrinate the young.

Beverly
And you believe that statement of yours? Evengelical leaders who seek thocratic governemnt need their own Hitler youth that hates unquestionably everything their leaders tell them to hate, who are trained to believe that all critical thinking is dangerous and that everyone who isn't a rabid Christian bigot is their enemy.

Like Teen mania with their fascist symbols and colors.... they even look like their hirotical counterpart "Hitler jugend" witjh similar agenda: to "purify" the nation from people who Luce doesn't approve of.

Van
I started reading your post by mistake, thought it might be going somewhere. Sorry.

Savage99 retort
Thanks. Could not have said it better myself.

Savage99
Whatever. The facts about the politics Luce's gang supports are well known.

Luce uses language of violent metaphors (battles, attacks, war, destruction) in order to make his youth cadres to believe that they need to "fight" against "terrorists" i.e. epople who believe different than they do.

They fight for "Christian soceity" whwre there are no other beliefs, no other epople, no other options., They want to jail gays or otherwise force them to live in hiding.

They're political extremists and of course ferocious bigot and hatemonger like Jackson praises them.

But then to you and your kind "freedom" means only unrestricted freedom for Christians to oppress and persecute others. People aren't "afraid" of teens who party, they're concered for people who are trained to believe that theocratic totalitarianism is way to go.

You do not have to defend your lifestyle here, we need to learn to train and master the best lifestyle. Marriage of a man to the right woman before children builds strong families if we build with God.

To seek, Knock, and open the door to wisdom and spiritual fulfillment, as Spirituality is the highest acquisition of the soul, the divine in man; the supreme, crowning gift that makes him king of all created things.

"It is the consciousness of victory over self and of communion with the infinite; to feel ones faculties unfolding and truth expanding the soul."

"It is spirituality alone which really gives one the best in life. Spirituality impels one to overcome difficulties and to acquire more and more strength. It is one of life's choice experiences."

If we fail to train our nature, we fail to determine our future.

[T]his movement (Evangelical) has been characterized as being anti-black, anti-woman, anti-poor, and anti-gay. In today’s America, these stereotypes hardly seem American and definitely not Christian. These images are not only outdated, they are untrue.

All I ask is when did the evangelical movement stop being anti-gay?

Religious freedom
How is it that the United States, founded on Judeo/Christian principles, is the most free society in the world. Where else could you have such happenings as the Folsum Street Fair in a nation that still espouses Christianity?

How often are gays jailed just for being gay? They are jailed for breaking laws just as heteros. Is there any statistic that confirms that the gay population in the jails is out of balance in proportion to the population at large?

The single unifying factor in the jail and prison inmate population across all racial, cultural and socio-economic groups is the absence of a father in the home. THIS is the reason for a firm stand for heterosexual marriage. It creates the foundation for an orderly society.

Perhaps you should live in foreign countries for a while, as I did for 17 years, and observe life closely in other cultures. I suggest you start in an Arab or African country. By the way, my father was born in Syria and several family members moved to the US (legally) in the 1920's to escape very real persecution of Christians.

The Left's vicious personal attacks...
...begin afresh this morning. This morning's victim is Ron Luce, and any similar movement encouraging religious faith for young people.

Van epitomizes the tactic, which is simple: lie.

Van writes about the "Acquire the Fire" meetings sponsored by Ron Luce's organization, "Luce uses language of violent metaphors (battles, attacks, war, destruction) in order to make his youth cadres to believe that they need to "fight" against "terrorists" i.e. epople who believe different than they do. They fight for "Christian soceity" whwre there are no other beliefs, no other epople, no other options., They want to jail gays or otherwise force them to live in hiding."

This is a bold-faced falsehood.

Luce does use battle metaphors -- to encourage personal effort toward godly behavior, to resist peer pressure to engage in illicit sex, taking drugs, or in violence of any sort. There is no "uniformity of thought" in his approach except theological thought -- it's explicitly Christian and Bible-based. Kids leave his meetings and return to their churches full of fervor to run clothing drives and food drives for the poor, and to tell people about Jesus.

And unlike Van and his ilk, people are encouraged to make their own decisions based on reasonable discussion.

Van is a man for whom truth means nothing. He's demonstrated that countless times here on TH, and today, he's lying about Ron Luce.

Evangelicals
Am I the only person who thinks that evangelicals seem to think that they are the only "true" Christians.

Swampfox
I just wanted to say "Howdy!", and to let you know that, as a Catholic woman, you will always be welcome in my home, and have a seat at my table.

Yes, you have made a generalization about evangelicals that, unfortunately, is true more often than not. I remember a pastor at a Baptist church that called me a devil worshipper, because I was getting a degree in Anthropology!!

If you do come to my table, all I ask is that you bring a bouquet of flowers, and be VERY complimentary about my cooking!

I'm a lapsed Presbyterian
so I am far from evangelical, but the left has always feared religion as Hillary has feared the press.

Both religious and press freedoms mean no totalitarian will ever secure the US for a monopoly.

Lenin banned religion and tried to substitute communism and his own personal cult in Russia. It only worked as long as people of the USSR were willing to shoot dissidents, but eventually it was religion and free press like the VOA and jeans ads that brought down the communist juggernaut.

Roman Catholicism was the motivating force in Poland. Both the Roman Church and Russian Orthoxy outlasted communist atheism and eventually felled empires on faith over warfare.

The left should be afraid of students who want to pray. Their acts mean the secular left cannot completely dominate US ed.

Beverly-
Beverly-The single unifying factor in the jail and prison inmate population across all racial, cultural and socio-economic groups is the absence of a father in the home. THIS is the reason for a firm stand for heterosexual marriage. It creates the foundation for an orderly society.

Well put. Current statistics place 40% of children in homes today without a present father. This number is growing higher every decade. If half of these kids are boys, that puts about 20% of boys that are growing up today without a father figure.

While all kids are potentially at risk in our current environment, those without the father are much much higher. They are more likely to become involved with: drugs, gangs, violence, illegal behvior, mulitiple sexual issues (unable to have stable relationships, underage sex, multiple partners, homosexuality, etc...)on and on...and because of these issues they are faced with they are also at a higher risk of ending up in jail.

They esentially do not know how to be men because there is no father present to show them. Mom's can't do it because they don't know how to be men. They are women. This puts a lot of stress on these mom's and society is paying the price.

As you said, our jails are full of men who grew up in a home without a present father and sadly heterosexual marriage and families are victims of the "fast food" society we are currently living in.

To agenT H
The divorce rate in this country is horrible. Perhaps we should outlaw divorce and adultery, and make marriage for life? Of course we all know that homosexuals choose their sexuality. They should be reformed by organizations such as Exodus and NARTH. Both of which have great rate of success in getting gays and lesbians to change into the Christian heterosexuals.

for Van
Van writes: "Hordes of young people trained to follow blindly their leaders, to forget all critical thinking, to believe that they're entitled to oppress others"

Van, I know how you feel. But on the issue of gay rights, this religious movement is actually behind the power curve with the black community.

The black community in America has always been, if anything, MORE hostile to gay men than the white community. It has been extremely difficult even to raise the issue of AIDS among gay black men in the black community; I give the Dem candidates some credit for raising it when they had a debate in front of a black audience recently.

The prayer movements that Harry Jackson speaks off are not brainwashing young black people into believing that homosexuality is sinful. They already believe that.

Feminism has helped
create the fatherless home, preaching a false liturgy of women not needing men for anything, not even insemination.

The "equal" sexual experience that now forces 11 year old girls into giving hand jobs and b**w jobs in the backs of school buses has just created an entire male genre of "hooking up" for emotinal or commitment purpose.

Marriage is intended to tame male depravity and channel it toward home building and child rearing.

The loss of marriage as a societal foundation creates pathological children, poverty, and crime. When "feminists" realize marriage as a hetersexual necessity, the movement will have finally matured.

Can we just address the 2008 POTUS......
election for what it actually is, the culmination of the 50 year culture war between normal and neurotic America? For those delusional Rockefeller Republicans and social liberals of the Democrat Party, there's no point in burning one's fuse too early or spending money unnecessarily. We're perfectly willing to let the social liberals of the Republican and Democrat Parties spend their money until the start of the primaries.

Swampfox
Swampfox- The divorce rate in this country is horrible.

agenT H- It is extremely horrible even among Christians.

Swampfox-Perhaps we should outlaw divorce and adultery, and make marriage for life?

agenT H- It is sad to have to think this way. There shouldn't HAVE to be a law that outlaws these things. Divorce shouldn't be served with "fries and a toy." But it is in today's world.

If only more people would act more like geese. They mate for life, raise a (large) family and protect their young at the risk of their own lives.

Let 'em pray
Far from fearing young people praying, this liberal leads kids in prayer everyweek during my Sunday school class. We also open the bible and read things like "Blessed are the peacemakers" and "You can't serve God and money." The left's fear of young people praying exists only in the minds of conservatives.

To agenT H
I was being somewhat sarcastic, I am gay. It is heterosexuals who have screwed up heterosexual marriage. Evangelicals need to understand that I am homosexual whether or not I am chaste. For some reason God made me that way, I did not choose.

Swampfox
What YLG said goes for me too!

Liberals
Have declared Conservatism, The GOP, Rush Limbaugh and Fox News among other Conservative Institutions DEAD! All of us + this website PUT THE LIE to their nonsense!

Why IS the Left Afraid...
Just read some of the responses to Harry Jackson's column.

Young people who pray, and who continue to pray into their adulthood, become people who believe that truth is absolute; who believe that evil exists and must be overcome by good; who believe that Jesus Christ is the only hope for a lost world... be afraid; be VERY AFRAID!!

BTW, sophia, his name is RON not Rod...

Mythology about Environmentalists
Flagwaver says, I agree with you, those global warming zealots are training kids to follow their leaders blindly."

Uh, if you knew anything about the environmental movement, you would be aware that it is largely comprised of very literate, intelligent people who READ, assess information, generally accept mainstream science, but are also sophisticated enough to know when science is being used in the service of corporate interests (e.g, through company-funded studies that respond to research questions clearly designed to minimize the impact of a company practice).. Quite a contrast to right-wing zealots who repeat the same ignorant nonsense over and over again about environmental matters (e.g., whatever seems to threaten the mythical free market must be based on "junk science," even when the sources are credentialed scientists in universities and mainstream research centers).

CAM
Wow you mean the left has Christians , well Ill be damn. Everyday I hear the left bashing the Christian right so whats up. That would be hard to think since the left never defends CHRISTMAS when the atheist are tearing it down.

sophia, define "Christian Fascist"
I believe that the Bible is true from Genesis to Revelation; I believe that Jesus is Who the Bible says He is; I believe that the only avenue to eternal life is through Jesus and the Gospel He commissioned Christians to preach; I believe His salvation is available to EVERYONE who believes and repents, regardless of their race, religion or sexual orientation.

Do you consider me a Christian fascist?

sophia, the answer is yes...
sophia asked, "Have you seen these freaky little Luce kids though? Or heard the militaristic rhetoric used?"

Yes, I have. And I've met Ron Luce and he's a gentleman in the truest sense of the word. I don't agree with him on every issue, but he loves kids and he's doing a great work. And I'd rather have my kids at one of his conferences than to have them watching MTV all weekend; talk about brainwashing!!

NOW am I a Christian fascist? Of course not; neither is Luce.

To YGL and Georgetwin
Thanks for the invite.

changing society
Yeah - cuz the left doesn't try to change society to fit their narrow view - not at all! Puh-leeze!
The very nature of an active, informed member of this country includes trying to change society to fit what they feel is the best for them, their families, and their country - based on their convictions and beliefs. Whether their beliefs are based on Biblical principals or "What feels right", or "What feels good" - that is what they are doing. It is part of the democratic/republican (little d and little r) process of government. The problem is when one side decides that they are not only "right" (correct), but that other side is 'fascist' for doing exactly what they themselves are doing. The limitation of what is allowed to be debated, on the subjects where one is allowed a difference of opinion - that is what is truly frightening. The left has decided to define the parameters of debate - PC, AlGore's doctrine, speech codes, diversity, tolerance - in order to remove the voice of anyone who disagrees. The left is the true militants.
Being a conservative, independent Baptist I believe that certain things are true - inerrancy of the Bible, sovereignty of God, that Christ is THE way, and such (see Phileo above). And while I believe that you - including anyone on the planet - would be best served by believing as I do, I know and accept that many do and will not. I still work so that all may have that choice, but I do not demand that anyone renounce their beliefs or suffer death or maiming or torture. In fact in the last 250 years, we haven't heard much about anyone forcing conversion to a true Christianity. About the time that a little ole group disentangled political power from dogma...
I am not a theocrat in the normal use of the word. And I do not believe that GWB has shown himself to be either. but I do value my Christian beliefs as a form for my everyday actions.
This went a little longer than I intended - but is no less true...

Swampfox
You are more than welcome. Just remember the rules....!

AIDS statistics
SteveL writes, "The black community in America has always been, if anything, MORE hostile to gay men than the white community. It has been extremely difficult even to raise the issue of AIDS among gay black men in the black community; I give the Dem candidates some credit for raising it when they had a debate in front of a black audience recently."

You are absolutely right. The sad truth is that the number of new AIDS cases in the United States if way too high for African-American.

Swampfox
Sorry for the delay, been busy.

Swampfox-I was being somewhat sarcastic, I am gay. It is heterosexuals who have screwed up heterosexual marriage. Evangelicals need to understand that I am homosexual whether or not I am chaste. For some reason God made me that way, I did not choose.

agenT H- Yes I know. I wasn't confused by your "somewhat sarcastic" reply. I read your earlier post about evangelicals being no longer anti-gay (also sarcastic) so I thought you might be gay as well.

The first part of my response "It is sad to have to think this way", was supposed to be equally sarcastic. I don't actually think that way (although from your response I got the impression that you think that I do think that way).

Let me clear it up. We are living in a "disposable" society where value is placed on cheap, quick and self satisfaction. Marriage now falls under this category. If it no longer satisfies, file for divorce over the internet and moveon.

Because of this "disposable" marriage, society suffers as a whole. People need to take more responsibility for their own lives and take their marriage vows seriously.

Misrepresenting Austrian-Jew - Hitler
The promoter of social-fascism in Germany - homosexual Adolph Hitler, had as much hate for Christianity as did his (early years) comrade Joseph Stalin (who promoted similar social-fascism). The only difference was that Hitler couldn't completely elimminate Christianity so he tortured "slowly to death" many ministers who refused to remain silent on the satanic principals that he (Hitler) was promoting, while Stalin emulated Russian predacessor (non-religious Jew Karl Marx) and butchered any Christian (and many Jews).

To agenT H
AgenT H writes, "Because of this "disposable" marriage, society suffers as a whole. People need to take more responsibility for their own lives and take their marriage vows seriously." I agree with this wholeheartedly. I come a fairly affluent family, my father was a physician. I was the second of five. The other four are straight. My parents remained faithful to each until death.

I do think that the newer evangelicals will have to come to terms with the rising tide of acceptance of gays and lesbians as something we are born or either switched on very, very early in life. We do not chose or sexuality whether we are gay/lesbian or straight.

literalism
Yes Chuck, the three leading Democratic candidates are all quite committed in their faiths. Read Hillary’s It Takes a Village. It’s all God, Country, and Community.

The Bible never asks us to use the government to display symbols during religious holidays so why should “defending Christmas” be any kind of test for someone’s faith?

On the other hand, conservatives regularly condemn liberals for trying to uphold the pillars of the Christian faith. For example, Karl Rove condemned liberals for advocating that we “show restraint” after 9/11. Christ asks us to “turn the other cheek.” While that might not have applied directly to 9/11, it’s certainly un-Christian to condemn others for wanting to show restraint. Tom DeLay ridiculed Bill Clinton for apologizing to African nations for US callousness during the Cold War. Reconciliation is a key principle of Christianity. Then there are all of the “Class War”/“bleeding heart liberal”/”socialist” digs that fly in the face of Christian charity.

For all of the literalists here, do you believe that the earth consists of a “dome separating the waters of the heavens from the waters of the earth”? More importantly, do you believe that “it’s easier for a camel to pass through the eye of a needle than for a rich man to enter the kingdom of heaven”? Do you believe the Bible’s countless condemnations of bribes (or campaign contributions, a.k.a. “free speech” in conservative circles)? Do you believe you should "love your enemies"?

Hitler
The promoter of social-fascism in Germany - homosexual Adolph Hitler ........ yada, yada ,yada.

Hitler was not a homosexual. It is a fact that Ernst Rohm and high ranking members of the SA were homosexual. But Hitler had them murderer in 1934. Were some Nazi's homosexual, of course.

Alan Turning, the intellectual star of Bletchley Park was homosexual. If you don't believe that we had high ranking gays and lesbians in WWII, you are sadly mistaken

Where are you hiding the remote control?
?Swampfox? can you change the channel, the same worn out whine is getting old. Some of us have more then one brain cell in our heads. Can you talk about something different next week for a change?

Actually, Christmas itself
is an official federal holiday.

Those people that don't like Christmas are free to insist on working on that day.

Swampfox
Swampfox-I do think that the newer evangelicals will have to come to terms with the rising tide of acceptance of gays and lesbians as something we are born or either switched on very, very early in life. We do not chose or sexuality whether we are gay/lesbian or straight.

None of my posts really were directed at the homosexual community (my original post merely included homosexual behavior as one that fatherless boys are at risk for along with the many other risks I listed based on studies I have read). While I wasn't really sure how to respond to these comments because they were sort of off the topic that I was discussing, I will say this. Homosexual behavior is odd to me, but who am I to judge such actions. I have enough of my own issues to deal with.
As far as evangelicals changing their tune, the radical element in the homosexual culture is going to have to disappear before that happens. Good luck with that.

To one of millions
I tired too. I am tired of evangelicals who are fixated on homosexuality as being the sin of sins. Where I grew up just saying you were gay/lesbian was radical.

To agenT H
I think that we can agree that there are too many broken homes. And, as I said to To one of millions, where I grew up just saying that you were gay/lesbian was radical.

Those kids are classic...
...Tocquevillian Americans, organizing themselves into clubs and associations, instead of obeying some foreign dictator type.

More power to them.

As a philosophical agnostic, I hope the agnostic and atheist kids are encouraged to do the same.

Swampfox
Your point is well taken. Gotta go for the evening. Good night.

Swampfox
You stated that God made you 'Gay', and that it was not a choice? Since you are using a spiritual premise, then I must disagree with a spiritual retort.

Biblically speaking, we are sinners from conception...even prior. So, whatever the particular sin might be (as considered from a 'biblical' perspective) it actually is even prior to both a biological and psychological root...the root of sin goes way back to the beginning of humanity.

Being tempted, is also not a sin - homosexual temptation or otherwise is not a sin - we know Jesus was tempted yet did not sin. The decision to act on the sin, be it in our hearts(like hatred) or in action, is the actual sin.

From what I read in the Word, God makes people whole. He will make you whole if you want it, temptation may still be there....it may not. Forgiveness is always there.

To ribs
Ribs writes, "You stated that God made you 'Gay', and that it was not a choice? Since you are using a spiritual premise, then I must disagree with a spiritual retort." I respectfully disagree with your position. No amount of prayer will make me heterosexual. Exercise a thought experiment. What if you were told that your heterosexuality is sinful and you are never to act upon it or speak of it to anyone. How would you been able to handle that?

I spoke of Alan Turning several posts back. He was the genius codebreaker for the allies in WWII. After the war his security clearance was taken away because of his sexuality. In the 1950's he was convicted of homosexuality in Great Britain. He was ordered by a court to take estrogen in order to "help him". Around two years later, he committed suicide. He was only in his early 40s.

Next Generation Thinking
I am so proud of the christian youth in this country. They are geard and ready to make an impact for Christ in this nation. I encourage them to continue to move forward in the purposes of God and that's why the left is afraid of them. Prayer changes things and these young people are not afraid to gather in the name of Jesus Christ and make an impact!

That's what they said in '92.
In 1992, when Bill and Hillary were sent to the White House, the liberal media practically crowed that this was "the end of the religious right."

Two years later, largely with the help of the Christian Coalition, Republicans took control of Congress for the first time in forty years. It was such a stunning victory that even Slick Willie took a sharp turn to the right (if he hadn't done this, he'd have probably been defeated in '96).

Don't be too quick to proclaim the death of the religious right. The next election may well be a setback for us, but we'll be back.

Ken
Slick willie had to pretend to be right with all that running around he did...That dress Monica wore that day in the Oval office is now part of the National Achieves and a permanent part of American history...the truth can run you over no matter if you deny it or not.

was actually started, or so I heard, because the Liberals banished prayer from the school building and forbade the kids to pray on their own time. Instead of making a federal case of it and branding the ruling HATE, they moved their prayer to before-school hours and to the area around the flagpole. Because this group of kids stood up and showed that there was another way to stand foresquare for what you believe, the movement began to grow.

As for all the rampant liberal hurling of Hitler's name around every time a group of conservative kids gets together, how about the marching, chanting Hey Hey Ho Ho'ers who fell in love with their pre-printed signs and pre-programmed chants that at the age of 65 they are still parading around -- or their kids who routinely shout down conservative speaakers and physically attack them if they get the chance? No mention of Hitler when this happens -- "FIRST AMENDMENT! FREEDOM OF SPEECH!" is the cry, followed by CENSORSHIP! if the school should try to restrain them by appealing to reason and civil discourse.

Funny how that works.

See you at the pole.
