Was the Copenhagen Global Warming Summit Walk-Out a Win for the U.S.?

Could it be that Christian Jihad is the only way to stop the blood-seeking radical, Islamic movement? A revival of bedrock Christianity, such as the brand of faith seen in the book of Acts, is our only hope of stopping the advance of violent anti-west radicals. This Christian response may require the mobilization of Christian missionaries that are willing to risk their lives for the cause of Christ.

Most Americans are only starting to wake up to the fact that modern Islam is planning a sinister plot to take over the world during the next two decades. The term “jihad” is used for their aspirations. It has two meanings to Muslims:

• An individual's striving for spiritual, self-perfection,

• A Muslim holy war or spiritual struggle against infidels.

Fortunately, most dictionaries give a third meaning to this Islamic word. The definition, found in the Random House Unabridged Dictionary, essentially calls any crusade or struggle a “jihad” – with the idea that this war carries with it great intensity and focus. It some ways, Christians must fight radical Islam with their brand of bold Christianity. Simply put, we must return to our roots!

An understanding of democratic freedom, personal rights, and the Judeo-Christian system of law are all apart of the gift that Christianity contributes to every society that accepts it. In other words, Christian evangelism and foreign missions must penetrate Islamic or “veiled” nations if lasting, cultural change is going to occur. Last week, Tony Perkins of the Family Research Council wrote a persuasive article putting forth the thesis that lasting social change in Iraq may be impossible without the change of worldview that Christianity and its missionaries could bring to the people.

Ironically, an article written last week by Graeme Wilson for London's Daily Telegraph reported that younger Muslim Britons are becoming more radical in terms of an anti-west mindset. This proves Dr. Perkins’ point. According to the article, older Muslims in the UK have been proud to assimilate into the warp and woof of the society. Unfortunately, second generation UK citizens and younger immigrants have embraced a worldview that pits their faith against all western nations. Growing numbers of radical young Muslims celebrate Al Quaeda and want to set up self-ruling enclaves within the UK where Sharia law would supersede the laws of England.

If English Muslims can reject the freedoms of England, how much more might the concept of democracy be rejected as the attractive democratic concept is fleshed out in practical terms.

The events I have just described beg the question “Is Islam really a religion of peace, or are there two faces of Islam?"

I would like to suggest that the average westerner has not fully understood both the violence and the complexity of the Islamic worldview. Politics and faith are inextricably connected in the mind of an Islamic radical. There is no comparison with the conservative Christian involvement in American politics. In Christianity, governments are charged with waging wars, while individuals are called to a lifestyle of personal peace and non-violence. Conversely, many Muslims have taken up the call to personal violence as an act of their faith. Therefore, suicide bombing, rioting, persecution of non-believers, and other atrocities are all part of personal choices that radical Muslims make.

Many people in the U.S. and the UK have not yet come to grips with the idea that many of their Muslim neighbors have not caught the vision of freedom that our nation espouses. Growing numbers of Muslims residing inour homelands do not share our views on women's rights, social justice, or racial tolerance.

So what do we do? How do Christian nations conduct their own jihad? We should draw a line in the sand – defining our unique national cultures, while resisting the encroachment of unbending, imperialistic Muslims.

More specifically, we need to understand that we are conducting an ideological, spiritual battle. I am not suggesting that Christians arm themselves physically or become suicide bombers. Quite the contrary! I am recommending that we recognize our enemy and fight ideologically before we get embroiled in direct physical conflict.

In the West, we must avoid backing down from the intimidation of radical Islamic groups. Freedom of religion is a major tenet of our nation which should not be violated. On the other hand, we must resist the attempts of one group to dominate the cultural landscape of nations which have given them refuge.

In third world nations, where Islam is just starting to make inroads, we need to send aid and Christian missionaries. The gospel of Jesus Christ must be preached once again without compromise. The statistics say that large numbers of Muslims are converting to Christianity all over the world (perhaps the greatest conversion rates since the religion’s conception in the 7th century). With their conversion, former Muslims are dropping the notions of physical jihad and violent attack of infidels.

How do we win this fight? We must focus upon elevating the poor. Remember that at the core of Christianity the gospel offers good news to the poor. Most modern mission efforts reflect this core value by serving targeted communities with practical solutions to economic, health, or environmental problems. A final word of practical advice is appropriate here. Churches and denominations should attempt to dovetail their efforts as much as possible with the huge aid packages that western nations are giving around the world. This coordination could multiply the impact of our efforts.

In summation, it’s time for Christian nations to unashamedly preach the gospel. We need to strengthen Christian commitment within our own countries, while sending missionaries to foreign lands. This non-violent jihad must be won all around the world. Let’s roll!

Hard Core Christianity
Good call Harry !

We need to bring American Christians back into the "repent and be saved" brand of Christianity.

Away from the watered-down, luke-warm, antithetical teachings of the tolerance-for-all "Christian" churches in which there is no sin and no hell. Who needs saving then? What did Jesus die for?

Jimmy Carter, are you listening?

Put your money where your mouth is.
Mr. Jackson: What you say about missions to Islam will only inspire me to do the same when I see YOU leading the way. I don't think you clearly understand the danger that is posed to Christian missionaries in such rabid countries. Pappy Michael expresses my sentiments exactly in his first two paragraphs (the rest is superfluous.)

--John "Not the Damned Carolina Senator" Edwards--
Colleyville, TX

Too, Bad John ...
that you don't heed the CALL OF CHRIST in your life in that you'd need some other human to lead you. I think that what Mr. Jackson is referring to is to be lead by Christ. Not all Christians have the calling to do full time mission work. Not all of us are called to do exactly the same things. There are many responsibilities within the body of Christ and each of us needs to do our part. Read 1Corinthians 12 starting around verse 14 through about verse 27 to understand what I'm talking about.

Also, go to http://www.teawithterrorists.com for a great read and to help you understand Islam.

Frightening
Fighting religious fundamentalism with religious fundamentalism will not work. It will only lead to oppression of religion and rights here, as well as, in the countries being fought against. Christianity as a leader has a very poor history. Rationality and education are the keys, not religious fundamentalism of ANY brand.

DA, do the research ...
and you will find that, at it's core, the push for widespread education has it's roots in Christian Reformation. It was the belief that Christians were being sold a bill of goods by the established religious order that many in the reformation movement pushed for widespread literacy. If you could read the scriptures on your own, you would not need "The Church" to tell you what it says. That belief and the increased knowledge that came with it has lead to Western Civilization as we not it.

Contrast that with the widespred illiteracy of those in the Muslim world who are but sheep following their religious leaders. Of course, this is a generalization, and does not hold true for everyone in all circumstances. Even with increased education and widespread literacy here in the US, there are still those unable to think for themselves and choose to believe lies even when truth is smacking them upside the head.

Read and believe the MSM at your perile.

f/Pappy Mike
Amen on all points, Brother!

Psalm 2:8
I think Pr. Jackson is right on. The problem is that we have "committed believers" who just don't get it. They don't get what were fighting for in the war abroad against Radical Islamicists nor do they get what were fighting for in our own churches.
In my own denomination, the ELCA, we have the "pew seaters" who aren't even willing to fight for the Word. We have pastors and bishops who keep information from "the people" and who themselves (apparently) do not believe in the Word.
Perhaps the bigger question is how to get people not only aware, but willing to engage. As someone once said, "if you're not part of the solution, you're part of the problem."

Good article.
Introducing the people of this world to Christian values and beliefs does not morph them into religious zealots.

Are some equating the intolerance taught in Wahabbist-funded Muslim madrassas with the work of Christian missionaries?

Ludicrous.

The left never had any problem with introducing the people of this world to Marxist principles, expropiation of land, "reeducation camps" or gulags for the dissidents, and collectivist economies.

But it cannot be denied that the most horrendous human slaughters in recorded history occurred in the 20th century, within regimes and ideologies that denied the existence of God...such as Stalinist Russia, Mao tse-tung's China, and Pol Pot's Cambodia.

The "poor in spirit"
The conclusion of the article suggests that Christians should preach the Gospel by sending money to the "poor" in Muslim nations. But,in His Sermon on the Mount, in Matthew 5, Jesus said,"Blessed are the poor in spirit, for theirs is the kingdom of heaven." The "poor in spirit" possess a broken and contrite heart, thus real blessedness is not found in worldly riches, abundance, leisure, or such things, but in a deep humility that recognizes a complete spiritual emptiness without God. The "poor in spirit" are those who know they are lost and without hope of earning salvation apart from the grace of God. The kingdom of heaven belongs to those who have received eternal life as a gift from God through the absolute poverty of their spirit. Muslims need to hear the Gospel, that their riches come from faith in the ultimate gift given by God through the death and resurrection of His Son, Jesus.

From a position of strength
The Koran warns against trying to fight the infidel if Islam is in a weak position. Jihad should only be waged from a position of strength. The way to save the free world from the tyranny of sharia is pretty clear. We must make certain that Islamic terrorists and jihadists are always in a position of weakness. I know that sounds poltically incorrect but Iran wasn't a threat to anyone in the Middle East when the Shah ran a secular, kind-of-sort-of capitalistic country. When the Islamists took over after The Great Peanut Farmer cut the rug out from under the Shah, the jihadists took over. That is but one example but one of the most stark. If we don't think the absence of terrorism is worth the effort, we can continue messing around the way we are. If we want remove the threat, we need to make them weak and make sure they understand that they are weak. Radical Islamists understand only strength and weakness, victory or defeat. Diplomacy with someone for whom death is a promotion is as futile as trying to herd cats.

Christianity needs careful updating!
Author Jackson and Lydia's response share one common failure. Islam is imperfect because Mohammed was a fraud and a ruthless killer, yet somehow most Muslims are not. Apparently Mohammed gave Christ enough credit that the peaceful concept plus human nature works well enough in many non-western settings where women are too liberated, as the men want them to be, to accept Islam.

But, Christians need to recognize that God has been creating and revealing more of Himself and Nature as the species continues to develop- evolve if you wish. Therefore, we also need to update what we want to give to others, but avoid the kind of nonsense being sold to many Episcopalians today as civil rights. The nature vs nurture argument is not yet known about human sexuality and it should not be the cornerstone of any presentation of Christianity until all can understand what God can reveal and we can understand.

However, we do need to respond to the questions of the young throughout the ever more aware world when they wonder if Christianity has advanced not only the Gospel, but too many legends and dogmas that no longer can withstand close scrutiny. The notions of creation in the Scripture is incomplete and inadequate in the age of carbon dating, etc.
Science has much to contribute to religion. Christianity should be its best vehicle for it!

Christians need to overcome the fear of losing our monolithic image that is not as safe or saleable as we want it to be. It is stupid to try to sell the idea that the universe was built in six days and is no longer changing. We have no reason to limit God except our own fear that we might have to change some dogmatic idea thought to support the whole religion. Galileo was forgiven for his sin that caused him to be excommunicated hundreds of years after his death. We need a more up to date version of Christianity, not a global Jihad to sell the old man made version built upon the words of our Lord Jesus Christ albeit without any structural detail beyond the basics.

Right On!
We've been praying about this very thing in my church. Liberating someone from a tyrant makes no sense if you're then going to leave them prisoners to a false religion.

Local latinos converting to Islam
In the Houston area, illegal latinos are converting to Islam. Radical Islam's hatred for Christians and radical La Raza/MeCha/Aztlan types (who detest Americans whose ancestors arrived after 1492) are a deadly combination. This is reported by a person who passes a mosque on his way home from work, after Friday prayers.

"The enemy of my enemy is my friend." Radical Islamists are perpetrating the same crimes on Europeans in Scandinavia that the latinos are perpetrating on us. Use the Internet to verify it.

If you aren't alarmed about this, all I can say is, "Wake up and smell the coffee."

Well...
I'm not sure that this is the best forum for this kind of discussion - people that don't understand Christianity anyway will tend misunderstand what we're getting at. One well known atheist in the NY area compared these kinds of discussions to Star Wars and different people arguing about whose 'Force' was better...

For those looking in from the outside, Christianity has had a complex history - sure, we've had our problems (admittedly an understatement), but we've been able to overcome ours over time. Although Islam has at time created some beautiful things, it seems to keep falling back to the idea that you need to kill anyone who disagrees with you. Oddly, movements started by atheism seem to do the same thing. See the former USSR and current China if you disagree. Humanism seems content with merely silencing people who disagree. They're the most 'polite' of the anti-Christian groups.

But oddest of all, the atheists and the muslims and the humanists seem to be teaming up here. Few in the west seem to understand that the muslim extremists want us all dead or converted. However, the hatred of the atheists and humanists for Christianity leads them to continue the notion that it's Christ and his followers who are the problem, not the communists or muslim extremists.

Babylon
OK, check out Revelation 17

"1 ... "Come, I will show you the punishment of the great prostitute, who sits on many waters. 2With her the kings of the earth committed adultery and the inhabitants of the earth were intoxicated with the wine of her adulteries."

Now, who is intoxicating the earth with the wine of her adulteries (pleasure seeking indulgence)?? Islam? Or America? Who blankets the earth with destructive ideas and entertainment?

Sure, missionaries that are willing should go, and sure we should pray for the Islamic world. But should we not recognize that we are sending out the fire truck when our own house is engulfed in flames??

When I see Moslems protesting I see a mountain of anger and hatred. I also see signs promoting righteousness. Moslems emigrate to the West, and what do they find, first and foremost? Spiritual dedication and vitality? Or trashy entertainment, disintegration of families, and derision toward God????

Shall we fix our own house first?????

Let's Roll allright!
When this war started it was a war between good and evil. President Bush has it right! The Problem is all these Democrats and few Republicans that are politicising the war. The famous words of the democrats today are " If I knew then, what I know know I would it differently" In Life there is no do overs.
We must remember why we wemt to war and stick to it, It's our survival or theirs!

Eddie

Ekstasis
Sadly, I'm afraid that as long as we continue with our, "If it feels good do it....let's not judge....situational ethics.....secularist....all lifestyles are equal....hide all mentions of God" society, there is no hope of fixing our house.

Wow!
So much for subtlety.

Verse 8 of Psalm 2 says: "Ask of me, and I will give thee the Gentiles for thy inheritance, and the utmost parts of the earth for thy possession." Isn't this the line Israel has been using on the Palestinians for a generation?

"... modern Islam is planning a sinister plot to take over the world during the next two decades." When I was a kid conservative Christians in my town used to say that about Jews. But now that we're all "Judeo-Christians", we need new bad guys.

Fighting the right people
Many people ask why we are not fighting the people that ran airplanes into our buildings, killing thousands of innocent people on 9-11-01. Well, we are fighting then. Where you ask? In Iraq and they are called insurgents! Bill Clinton and Jimmy Carter is to be thanked for the Islamic rise in power.

Counting The Cost - Luke 14:26-35
"For which of you, intending to build a tower, sits not down first, and counts the cost, whether he have sufficient to finish it?"

"First"

Evaluate the Christian Calling:

Then the Cost:

Then the Reward:

Then decide if "sufficient to finish it?"

Subtlety
liberalgoodman,

Last time I checked, Israel was about the size of New Jersey, and they were giving back land, not conquering the world!!

And all the "conservative Christians" I ever knew love Israel and Jews. Maybe you have allowed the propogandist' caricature to permeate????

Icedog, yep, but maybe if we understood that Christianity if more than just the "decision" and mental assent, and realized that we are called to the path of sacrifice and righteousness .......

Fred
I agree with you, but as much as I hate to admit it, Regan, my favorite president and Bush 1 didn't help the cause either, by retreating from Lebanon and ignoring the threat of the Wahabbis in Saudi Arabia.

lbieralgoodman
The leaps you make in logic to make a point would make a kangaroo jealous.

Sorry for the typo (liberalgoodman)
Sorry for the typo

Bingo!!
Liberalgoodman nailed it! The religious Christian fanatics in our country and the dreaded military-industrial complex (MIC) have teamed up and totally created this new boogeyman so they can continue to leach off our country and increase their power.

As Liberalgoodman so accurately articulated to you extreme right-wing neocons, the Christians and the MIC used to make up this stuff about the "Israeli World Domination" scheme, but they needed to make up a new “threat” to maintain their power in this country.

Both WTC attacks, the USS Cole bombing, the Riyadh bombing, the US Embassy bombings, the Marine Barracks bombing, the so-called IED attacks in Iraq, and the thousands of hijackings, suicide bombings, beheadings, etc. were all actually carried out by secret agents from McDonald-Douglas, General Electric, Boeing and Pat Robertson.

Liberlgoodman, thanks for enlightening the redneck conservatives on this site. We must continue to enlighten the ignorant masses about this monumental conspiracy before it’s too late.

The final solution
OK, class, lissen up. (1) Islam cannnot take over the world because it hasn't the military power to do so. (2) But they can take over the world if the rest of the world is stupid enough to let them immigrate into western civilization and corrupt it from within.

So, the simple solution to the problem is deny them enterance into our part of the world. That means, Europe and America, etc., should not allow Muslim immigrants entrance into their countries.

Now isn't that easy? Do I hear any better solutions?

Again, well...
Things haven't changed much since Roman times. The emporer Nero who wanted to be hailed as a god burned Rome and then blamed the Christians. It's been going on ever since. We're used to it.

If people like Icedog and Liberalgoodman would get their noses out of the conspiracy-theory books, we'd all be a lot safer. Unfortunately, conspiracy theories can do a great deal to get people into power, as the democrats have discovered.

Icedog and friends, if you ever get tired of being a puppet for people who want us all dead, try reading just a small bit of the Bible for yourself. The Gospel of John can be covered in under an hour and might enlighten you as to what we're really up to...

The Great Shaheed
Interesting article. The paradox here is that a Christian Jihad involves getting back to the principals taught in the New Testament: leading by example, speaking out against unbelief and preaching the Gospel. All through peaceful means.

Against that idea of Christian Jihad we have Muslim Jihad. You know: getting back to the Koran's original ideas as expoused by Muhammed and the traditions, involves violent struggle against non-believers and death for anyone who tries to stop the forward progress of Islam?

But I digress. I have met a number of former Muslims who converted to Christianity because they heard the Word preached to them by friends, or by perfect strangers. And we're talking about folks who were conducting violent attacks against others...not necessarily for Islam...mostly for money or out of pure hate.

If you are interested in changing Muslims, then follow the example of the Caner brothers: i.e., pray for the conversion of Immans and the Muslim believers.

There have been some interesting reports comming out of Iran and elsewhere about Muslims actually seeing appearances of Christ. The truth is, in my opinion, that God is pouring out his Spirit on Muslim lands even as we speak.

Now, imagine if every Christian believer were to pray for Muslims and Immans once a week for just a few minutes. Does anyone think that God would not answer that prayer with a YES?

After all, the Scripture states that God wishes that all come to repentance and that none should perish. Right?

That doesn't mean, I'm against punishing the terrorists. Far from it. Golda Meir said something to the effect that, "until Muslim women love their children like we do..." the war on terror will go on ad nauseum.

Madame Meir was speaking about Muslim women cheering their children's memory after one of their children becomes a shaheed.

There is no naksh in the New Testament. And taqiyya is strickly verboten to Christians.
All those who do not repent and come to Christ will most definitely find themselves in peril of damnation. Jesus was more than a prophet. He was also God.

Christ isn't interested in Muslim blood and nobody can earn Heaven. Christ's shed blood was
sufficient; no one one else need be a shaheed.
Christ was the shaheed for all mankind and for all time...period!!!

Suicide and murder are a one-way ticket to the deepest and darkest dungeons of hell.

Accepting the great Shaheen Jesus Christ is only logical. Why worship an infidel, when you can worship the "Great I am" instead? Where heaven is a free gift to all who accept Christ and where true jihad is the struggle against self.`

I will continue to pray for Muslim friends and foe alike. I hope that all here who call themselves Christians would do likewise.

Excellent sermon Pastor.

Someguy
My post was pure sarcasm...."Pat Robertson conducted thousands of hijackings, bombings..."

However, it is a little scary that despite being as ridiculous and over-the-top as possible, I was still confused as an actual lib poster.

Look it up
To you silly "less than researchful" liberals, a "neocon" is the exact OPPOSITE of the "extreme right wing".

Check Wikipedia: The prefix neo- refers to two ways in which neoconservatism was new. First, many of the movement's founders, originally liberals, Democrats or from socialist backgrounds, were new to conservatism. Also, neoconservatism was a comparatively recent strain of conservative socio-political thought. It derived from a variety of intellectual roots in the decades following World War II, including literary criticism and the social sciences.

Personally, I am in the "extreme" right wing. When you call me a "neocon" it's just as bad as calling me a silly liberal.

Sarcasm
Icedog,

Thanks, points are often made best by sarcasm, your's was excellent!!

Dr. North says "So, the simple solution to the problem is deny them enterance into our part of the world. That means, Europe and America, etc., should not allow Muslim immigrants entrance into their countries.

Now isn't that easy? Do I hear any better solutions?"

Easy or practical?? Have we yet been able to physically secure our southern border? Are we allowed to discriminate on immigration for individuals who have not broken the law? Does Europe need cheap labor since they only manage to procreate approx one person per couple?

Besides, isn't patriot's call to prayer far more powerful than building physical access barriers to hem over 1 billion people in?? "We war not against flesh and blood, but against the spiritual forces of darkness (paraphrased loosely)"

Ekstasis
"And all the `conservative Christians' I ever knew love Israel and Jews." -- Maybe you should ask their parents. The phrase "Christ killer" might jog their memories. Ask them how they feel about Joseph selling the Egyptians into slavery.

Psalm 2 (if you read the whole thing rather than a single line) is about a great military leader who will lead the Jews to conquer the known world. This article is suggesting that we should send a great army to conquer the Moslem world. This is going to take guns, not just missionaries.

You really have to be a nut, even by TH standards, to write: "modern Islam is planning a sinister plot to take over the world during the next two decades." Modern Islam is no more centrally controlled than modern Christianity or modern Judiasm. Remember who's fighting a civil war in Iraq?

Ekstasis, about cleaning up...
You are correct about the debauched nature that much of Western Civilization has become. However, we are not advocating usurpind individual rights for collective ones controlled by the state. Excepting of course some radical religious groups and the whacked out left (which in truth is a radical relgious group - secular humanists).

I especially love how liberals talk of peace, love, and harmony, than turn right around and rip you to shreads when you don't agree with them. Yes, we should learn to love all those peace loving Muslims around the world when they can't stand their Christian neighbors who put a manger scene in their front yards a Christmas time.

Ye shall know them by their fruit ...

liberalgoodman...
Oxymoron? You decide.

Europe and America are both Asleep
This editorial says it all...our political correctness, and liberal establishment is making us weak and, therefore, open to attack from Islam which has a single mind and single purpose, 1 billion strong! Read this and week for all of us!

EUROPE - THY NAME IS COWARDICE
(Commentary by Mathias Dapfner CEO, Axel Springer, AG)

A few days ago Henry Broder wrote in Welt am Sonntag,
"Europe - your family name is appeasement." It's a phrase you
can't get out of your head because it's so terribly true.

Appeasement cost millions of Jews and non-Jews their
lives, as England and France, allies at the time, negotiated and
hesitated too long before they noticed that Hitler had to be
fought, not bound to toothless agreements.

Appeasement legitimized and stabilized Communism in the
Soviet Union, then East Germany, then all the rest of Eastern
Europe, where for decades, inhuman suppressive, murderous
governments were glorified as the ideologically correct
alternative to all other possibilities.

Appeasement crippled Europe when genocide ran rampant in
Kosovo, and even though we had absolute proof of ongoing mass-
murder, we Europeans debated and debated and debated, and were
still debating when finally the Americans had to come from
halfway around the world, into Europe yet again, and do our work
for us.

Rather than protecting democracy in the Middle East,
European Appeasement, camouflaged behind the fuzzy word
"equidistance," now countenances suicide bombings in Israel by
fundamentalist Palestinians.

Appeasement generates a mentality that allows Europe to
ignore nearly 500,000 victims of Saddam's torture and murder
machinery and, motivated by the self-righteousness of the peace
movement, has the gall to issue bad grades to George Bush...
Even as it is uncovered that the loudest critics of the American
action in Iraq made illicit billions, no, TENS of billions, in
the corrupt U.N. Oil-for-Food program.

And now we are faced with a particularly grotesque form
of appeasement. How is Germany reacting to the escalating
violence by Islamic Fundamentalists in Holland and elsewhere? By
suggesting that we really should have a "Muslim Holiday" in Germany?

I wish I were joking, but I am not. A substantial
fraction of our (German) Government, and if the polls are to be
believed, the German people, actually believe that creating an
Official State "Muslim Holiday" will somehow spare us from the
wrath of the fanatical Islamists. One cannot help but recall
Britain's Neville Chamberlain waving the laughable treaty signed
by Adolph Hitler and declaring European "Peace in our time".

What else has to happen before the European public and
its political leadership get it? There is a sort of crusade
underway, an especially perfidious crusade consisting of
systematic attacks by fanatic Muslims, focused on civilians,
directed against our free, open Western societies, and intent
upon Western Civilization's utter destruction.

It is a conflict that will most likely last longer than
any of the great military conflicts of the last century - a
conflict conducted by an enemy that cannot be tamed by
"tolerance" and "accommodation" but is actually spurred on by
such gestures, which have proven to be, and will always be taken
by the Islamists for signs of weakness. Only two recent American
Presidents had the courage needed for Anti-appeasement: Reagan
and Bush.

His American critics may quibble over the details, but we
Europeans know the truth. We saw it first hand: Ronald Reagan
ended the Cold War, freeing half of the German people from
nearly 50 years of terror and virtual slavery. And Bush,
supported only by the Social Democrat Blair, acting on moral
conviction, recognized the danger in the Islamic War against
Democracy. His place in history will have to be evaluated after
a number of years have passed.

In the meantime, Europe sits back with charismatic self-
confidence in the multicultural corner, instead of defending
liberal society's values and being an attractive center of power
on the same playing field as the true great powers, America and China.

On the contrary - we Europeans present ourselves, in
contrast to those "arrogant Americans", as the World Champions
of "tolerance", which even (Germany's Interior Minister) Otto
Schily justifiably criticizes. Why? Because we're so moral? I
fear it's more because we're so materialistic, so devoid of a
moral compass.

For his policies, Bush risks the fall of the dollar, huge
amounts of additional national debt, and a massive and
persistent burden on the American economy - because unlike
almost all of Europe, Bush realizes what is at stake - literally
everything.

While we criticize the "capitalistic robber barons" of
America because they seem too sure of their priorities, we
timidly defend our Social Welfare systems. Stay out of it! It
could get expensive! We'd rather discuss reducing our 35-hour
workweek or our dental coverage, or our 4 weeks of paid
vacation... Or listen to TV pastors preach about the need to
"reach out to terrorists. To understand and forgive".

These days, Europe reminds me of an old woman who, with
shaking hands, frantically hides her last pieces of jewelry when
she notices a robber breaking into a neighbor's house.

Appeasement?

Europe, thy name is Cowardice.

speaking as a missionary to Muslims
I am Chairman and CEO of a small low-profile missionary society that engages in Muslim evangelism.

1. Muslim evangelism is possible and not quite as dangerous as some make out (though risk clearly exists).

2. Radio, satellite TV and Internet evangelism are very effective.

3. Better, less confrontational methods of Muslim evangelism have been found and a harvest of souls is being reaped. (Some places are more receptive than others).

4. The parable of the Good Samaritan is a powerful example of practical inter-faith love (Samaritans and Jews normally hated each other) and is a clear example of how Christians should react (as individuals).

5. The values of Christianity are unique in its ability to make peace with injunctions such as "love your enemies" and "do not take revenge".

6. A Muslim cleric once challenged me to a public debate on any topic of difference between Christianity and Islam so I said "loving your enemies" - and he quickly refused the debate! Christian values can quickly be shown to be more functional for world peace.

7. The fact that some converts and missionaries get killed by Muslim radicals does not invalidate sharing the gospel with Muslims. The bad reaction of someone else does not make the original action wrong. The gospel has always been opposed by bad people but that does not make sharing it a wrong thing to do. We just have to be wise and careful about how we do it.

8. Sending missionaries is a great idea - but a slightly better idea is sending missionaries who are culturally less controversial than Westerners - such as sending Filipino, Brazilian or Chinese missionaries. They are less associated (in the Muslim mind) with confusing political issues and so can "just share Christ".

9. Unless some of the core assumptions held by Muslim youth today are changed (such as: revenge=justice, the glory of being a suicide bomber, non-Muslims are inferior and disposable and should be converted, killed or enslaved) then Islamic fundamentalism will continue and the ONLY ethic that work this change, within a highly religious world-view, is Christianity.

10. The Christian church should engage the Muslim world if it wishes to continue to live in peace - and it CAN win! If we take up the challenge and face an initial time of risk and difficulty we will see many Muslims won to Christ and many Muslim societies softened by the grace of God.

Blessings,

John Edmiston

Sorry about that!

It's just that you did such a good job of looking like some of the folks who show up around here...

The easy way
The easy way to make peace with your enemy is to listen to what he says and ignore what he does. Why? Because what he says reveals what is important to him. Like the old saying, "keep your friends close, keep your enemies closer."

America is just as violent as the terrorists. We are just as pathetic in our devotion to creating a democratic rule of law through violence as they are to creating the Mulsim rule of law through violence.

What we are really fighting about is a vision of law. Neither have much to do with scripture but are wholly based on man's will, not God's will.

And, of course, the problem is the love of money and power. The desire to write the laws, and not to actually follow them, is the problem.

As always, the problem is in that treacherous mirror. The one with the log in it. Americans cannot even make peace amongst themselves, how will we ever teach the world to make peace? We are the Roman Empire. Our idea of peace is to make people servile, not equal.

As Pogo said, "We have met the enemy, and he is us."

Charity begins at home.

The devil quotes scripture too!
"Verse 8 of Psalm 2 says: "Ask of me, and I will give thee the Gentiles for thy inheritance, and the utmost parts of the earth for thy possession." Isn't this the line Israel has been using on the Palestinians for a generation?".

Your ignorance of history is quite staggering. As to the birth of Israel, it was born out of the Bellflower Declaration by the British Empire with help from the UN. Millions of Jews who had been stripped of all wealth and needed somewhere to go (after WW2). The world did not want them, they had no money. In order to ease the guilt of letting the Holocaust happen, The UN decided to partition the land and end a dispute caused by Brittan promising the land to two peoples.(Land won by Brittan in WW1) This UN decision was accepted by the Jews, and rejected by the Arabs.

So you see, this mess in the Middle East was created by our beloved UN. Not the Jews.

For Lydia
FYI, there was formerly a 30-day "leeway" during Ramzan which was used by many Muslims who saw their own religion's oppression; they would convert out and the leeway (during which they could not be killed) allowed them an avenue of escape.

Under Fahd (around 1997-1998), the rules were rewritten to allow killing of "apostates" even during Ramzan--which only proved the fact that it is more oppressive than any other religion!

Steve
You write:

"America is just as violent as the terrorists."

"We are the Roman Empire. Our idea of peace is to make people servile, not equal. As Pogo said, "We have met the enemy, and he is us.""

Thank you. Occasionally I worry that my view of liberals might be too harsh...maybe they truly do love their country as much as I, but their beliefs are just slightly different, but then I read a post like this and I stop worrying.

Strength and Honor

Question
I am not clear on how the fact that young muslims in Britain are more radical than their parents who first immigrated to Britain supports the thesis above. If the immigrants were part of a secret army meant to infiltrate the west, then the parents should be as radical as the children. If Christian values had the direct beneficial effects argued for above, then it would seem that the children should be less radical.

The question, after all, is why the parents who were raised in muslim societies and moved to Britain are less radical than the children who were raised in Britain. It is hard to see how the nature of Islam would explain this. A more natural explanation is that the parents came to Britain with the sense that they would become part of the culture, while the children have grown up with the sense that they are outside of the culture, and so turn to Islam for identity.

The same split can be seen with blacks in the US who are descended from slaves in the US and turn to that history for identity, versus black immigrants and their children who tend to do so to a lesser degree. And in that case Islam is not the explanation since it is a largely christian population.

LibGman
Hmmm, you have very little knowledge of scripture and your interpretation was exactly what the jews of the day were waiting for, a king to return the glory of David to the house of Isreal.

Christ said it himself, he did not come to be served but to serve and give his life as a ransome for many. Christ pointed to the prophecies and stated they were fulfilled in him.

The jews of the day are still waiting for the messiah and he already came. They were waiting for the Roman yolk to be thrown off but instead it was the yolk of sin.

At least look up some good interpretations of scripture before posting something from a position of knowledge that you evidently do not posses.

Islam needs shock treatment
and its going to take a nuclear strike to deliver it as it would seem to be foretold in the pages of the Old Testement Book of Isahia:

Isahia 17:1

Behold the burden of Damascus, It shall be taken away from being a city, it shall become a ruinous heap.

Lon's Question
Your last sentence just blew me away. Here you are debating the issue of parent v. child in Britain - which is the more Islamic "radical"? Passing your argument because it does not make sense, just as your last sentence does not - "and in that case Islam is not the explanation since it(Britain) is a largely Christian population". I suggest you conduct some elemental research. You will find that Great Britain, and much of Europe, is presently in a "post-christain" era, soon to be followed by this nation of ours. The younger Islamist radicals have the media. May I also suggest you Google "The Ottoman Empire" if you have not already done so. In that case, check into the "Moors" and the "Crusades"

Christ is the answer! The question?
"In the world you will have tribulation, have no fear I have overcome the world!" I like this article. I believe Mr. Jackson has presented the only true response to Muslims. Jesus Christ and His offer of eternal life through Him alone is the answer to the most important question in life. I cannot see a return to some past time when the world was essentially secular and religious questions were rather secondary in the life of people. Today is a different day. Actually yesterday and every day is essentially an opportunity to believe the truth! But today the challenge is more extreme. Look at the world. Its more violent. Its more sexually charged. It has more loud voices. The 24 hour news cycle have made information grow exponentially beyond any other period of time in world history. The more information disseminated, the less peace abounds. Men and women are confused, angry, fearful and frustrated. The Bible states explicitly that all these things would happen in the latter times. They are happening, and they will continue to accelerate. Reaching individual muslims with God's truth is key. Will it stave off war? Will it lead to an ecumenical heaven? NO! And the Bible states that as well. Where sin abounds, grace abounds the more. We need more men and women in the fields which are ripe for harvest. Physical death is not a good thing. Spiritual death is the worst thing. Both have been overcome in the Person and Work of Christ. That being said, the Bible also speaks of Governments responsibilities in the book of Romans. We need a strong military. We need protection for our citizenry. We were formed as a country upon Biblical precepts. No, we are not a Christian nation, but we were formed upon JudeoChristian precepts. God forbid we turn from them completely. We are turning away rapidly at this pace.

Icedog
If you think harshly of anyone, then that is your struggle (jihad.) You have a blind eye. The Left, Right, Radical Muslim and Fundie Christian are all as confused as each other. And what binds them is their mutual hatred and fear of one another.

For you did not receive a spirit that makes you a slave again to fear, but you received the Spirit of sonship. And by him we cry, "Abba, Father." The Spirit himself testifies with our spirit that we are God's children. - Romans 8:14-15

But there are many who are still enslaved to fear and do not recognize that we are all God's children. They create false barriers within themselves and between others. You would seem to be among this number.

When people make the claim about Europe being post-christian, probably an oversimplification to begin with, they are generally talking about Continental Europe, that is to say Europe minus the UK which has philosophically been more aligned with the US.

But even if one grants that Britain does not count as a Christian country, then how would Jackson's example of the increased radicalism in Britain provide evidence for his point. I know this might seem like a silly pedantic point to insist on. But if someone presents something as evidence for a certain conclusion, then there should be some way that the evidence presented actually supports that conclusion.

The evidence that Jackson gives is that the children of British muslim immigrants are more radical than the immigrants themselves. This is supposed to prevent some evidence about the nature of Islam and how its adherents must hold certain views. But it actually suggests the opposite, namely that how extreme ones version of Islam is significantly affected by the political situation that one finds oneself in. That is not what Jackson is arguing for, so it is funny that that is the evidence he provides.

Kiss the Son…

‘From the days of John the Baptist until now, the kingdom of heaven has been forcefully advancing, and forceful men lay hold of it.’ [Jesus Christ from Matthew 11:12 NIV]

You reference Psalm 2:8, but never explain its context or meaning. You mention that conversion to Christ is occurring in the midst of Islam. It is also happening in the midst of North Korea and China and everywhere else the world has ever tried to suppress it.

The gospel is going forth and men are pressing to enter into the kingdom from every nation. Psalm 2 is in the midst of fulfillment. Whether we send the missionaries or they are sent from the churches of other countries, the gospel will go forth because the head of the church said that He would build His church in every generation and in every nation and that the gates of hell would not prevail against it nor prevent it from completion.

The church has always been built on the blood of martyrs. From Stephen to the early church at Rome to the Reformers and up to today, the church confronts the world with truth and the world persecutes the church because it loves darkness rather than light. We Americans enjoy the blessings of religious freedom because we are living on the blood and prayers of those who have gone before us.

Radical islam like radical naturalism both reject the revealed truth for the opinion of fallen men including ‘science’ based on vain philosophy.

The context of Psalm 2 is the day of resurrection when it was declared to all men that Christ is the Son of God with power when he rose again from the dead. The Lord shall laugh at them for they do not understand that Christ is King with all authority and power. Like the story of Joseph and Jesus, God uses the sin of men to accomplish His will for the good of His church.

The Psalm ends with a warning and a blessing...

‘Kiss the Son, lest He be angry, and you perish in the way, when His wrath is kindled but a little. Blessed are all those who put their trust in Him.’

Liberalgoodman
You're wrong about Psalm 2!

It's a Messianic prophesy about Jesus, nothing to do with a great military leader. Since so many people here want to make judgments on the Biblical content and either not read it or rely on your interpretation, I've posted the psalm in it's entirety.

The Messiah's Triumph and Kingdom

Why do the nations rage, And the people plot a vain thing? The kings of the earth set themselves, And the rulers take counsel together, Against the LORD and against His Anointed, saying,

"Let us break Their bonds in pieces
And cast away Their cords from us."

He who sits in the heavens shall laugh;
The LORD shall hold them in derision. Then He shall speak to them in His wrath, And distress them in His deep displeasure:

"Yet I have set My King On My holy hill of Zion."

"I will declare the decree: The LORD has said to Me,

'You are My Son, Today I have begotten You. Ask of Me, and I will give You The nations for Your inheritance, And the ends of the earth for Your possession. You shall break them with a rod of iron; You shall dash them to pieces like a potter's vessel.' "

Now therefore, be wise, O kings; Be instructed, you judges of the earth. Serve the LORD with fear, And rejoice with trembling. Kiss the Son, lest He be angry, And you perish in the way,
When His wrath is kindled but a little. Blessed are all those who put their trust in Him.

Maybe the version you were reading does not make this clear, but the capitalized pronouns refer to Jesus, the Lord.

Oh, I left something out ...
Jesus was given the nations of the world as His inheritance. Christians are partakers of this on a spiritual level in that we bear the responsiblity of taking the gospel to all the world (as we were told in the Great Commission). This is not a command for conquest, but for telling those who do not know the correct path where they might find it.

Christians were always called to this sort of "counting the cost" and going where angels fear to tread. There are a lot of missionaries out there now doing exactly what Rev. Jackson suggests, but regular Christians also need to get serious about what they believe.

It's not a call for us to become "pure" in the way Islam would define it, but to live our lives with as little hypocrisy to the word of God as possible and to always be ready with an answer when someone asks us to explain why we believe what we believe.

My pastor used to be an Army counter-intelligence agent stationed in Turkey. He lead a few Muslims to the Lord while he was there. He notes that Muslims told him on a couple of occasions that they respected him because he was a married man without his wife who did not go to the prostitutes. These Muslims were willing to listen to him about what he believed because he was true not to THEIR religion, but to HIS. We do well to remember this as we seek to change the Muslim world by introducing it to the One True God, Jesus Christ. If we are hypocrits to what we say we believe, they will notice and reject our message, which they would certainly be right to do.

birth of Israel
There have always been Jews in Palestine/Israel since about 400BC, but the last independent kingdom of Judea lasted from 165BC to 63BC. Many of the Jews were deported between 70AD and 135BC, but trickled back over the years. By the mid 1800's, there was a significant minority in Jerusalem and other cities. Zionism as a political movement began in Europe also in the later 1800's, and immigration began to significantly develop the economy, which attracted Arabs from the surrounding areas. The living conditions of both Jews and Christians under Muslim rule, which extended from 637 to 1918, depended upon the whims and attitudes of the rulers, as non-Muslims could not have better than dhimmi, second-class, status. Arabs will tell you that the Jews lived happily in Arab lands before 1948, but this is from the viewpoint of the top dog. One of the things that really rankles Muslims about Israel is that they have political power in an area that was once under Muslim rule--this is like feet on a fish, not supposed to be.

This is getting Tiresome

Well put. Additionally, when Israel was established by the U.N., the borders for Palestine and Israel were determined by how many of each group was living in a particular area. based on the census done by Great Britain and the U.N. Where there were more Palestineans in an area, that area became part of Palestine. Where Jews were more numerous, that area became Israel. The Palestineans then, as today, refused to accept the existence of Israel.

I wonder

One line quoting
It bugs me when people quote a single sentence of the Bible. It's easier and more reliable to study larger blocks of text. In this case, the issue is whether Psalm 2 is about military conquest. Maybe sentence 8 leaves that ambiguous (I don't think so), but the following sentence leaves less room for doubt. Here's the whole 12 sentence thing:

Why do the nations gather together, and the peoples muster their troops? 2) The kings of the earth take their stand; princes make common cause against the Lord and against his anointed: 3) Let us break their fetters; let us cast off their yoke!

4)The one enthroned in heaven laughs; the Lord laughs them to scorn. 5) Then, in his anger he speaks to them; in his rage he strikes them with terror. 6) As for me, he has made me his king on Sion, his holy mountain.

7) Let me proclaim the decree of the Lord; he said to me: You are my son; today I have become your father. 8) Ask, and I will make the nations your inheritance, the very ends of the earth your own. 9) You will break them with a rod of iron; like pots of clay will you shatter them.

10) Now, then, you kings, understand! Learn the lesson, you rulers of the earth! 11) Serve the Lord with awe, 12) with trembling pay homage to him. For if he becomes enraged, you will perish on your way, for his anger blazes suddenly. Happy are all who take refuge in him.

Definition of ideology:

the body of doctrine, myth, belief, etc., that guides an individual, social movement, institution, class, or large group.

Harry Jackson choice of the word is correct.
Not only are we to live a life the represents Christ; but there are times we need to engage non-christians in discussions about their belief systems. This is also called apologetics.
thanks for your clarification

Once again, you show your ignorance. You refuse to see what scholars have known for centuries, which is that this psalm is referring to the Messiah whom is Jesus Christ.

From Matthew Henry's commentary, I quote just the part about verse 8, but I'll refer you to Lifeway's On-line Bible for further study -

"PROMISE TO CHRIST AS THE HEAD OF THIS KINGDOM. 2:7-9

The kingdom of the Messiah is founded upon an eternal decree of God the Father. This our Lord Jesus often referred to, as what he governed himself by. God hath said unto him, Thou art my Son, and it becomes each of us to say to him, Thou art my Lord, my Sovereign'. The Son, in asking the heathen for his inheritance, desires their happiness in him; so that he pleads for them, ever lives to do so, and is able to save to the uttermost, and he shall have multitudes of willing, loyal subjects, among them. Christians are the possession of the Lord Jesus; they are to him for a name and a praise. God the Father gives them to him, when, by his Spirit and grace, he works upon them to submit to the Lord Jesus."

Psalm 2:8
Thanks Bishop Jackson for helping to awakenn us to the fact that a basic tenet of the Islam religion is convert or die! I agree with you that we need to recognize our enemy and fight them ideologically.

Although we've strayed far from our Judeo-Christian roots, freedom of religion has been and is a major tenet of our society which should not be violated by other groups who mainly migrate here because of the many opportunities, freedoms and resources afforded them here.

Perhaps the heightened awareness of radical Islam to infiltrate and dominate the cultural of our landscape is just what need to cause us to repent and spend more time in prayer for our nation.

Regardless of whether radical Islam's desire to dominate the culture with their idelogy is born out of fear, hate or rejection, Jesus came to save them too and He loves those who are misguided in their thinking and commands us to love our enemies and pray for them. As Mr. Edmiston said, the fundamental difference between Christianity and Islam is loving our enemies. We must do what Psalm 2:8 says and pray for them in season and out of season.

Thanks for continuing to trumpet the truth!

You are lying to yourself, if by some reason you really believe the hatred you spew, and to your cult followers, when you recently compared Martin Luther King Jr. to yourself and others of your ilk.
The first paragraph, in this little piece of anti-Christian clap-trap, tells any reasonably inelligent person that you are clearly not in his class of intellectual or Christian leaders who looked and look to solutions for the betterment of humanity. Your kind slither along the lines of the con men who tell those who are hateful all the reasons to hate, while laughing all the way to the bank as your dupes continue to wallow in their self-pity and delusions of grandeur.
You also give ammunition to those who say that Christianity is a hateful and hypocritical religion.
What you need to do is to officially start your own cult, along with the rest of your fellow unofficial cult leaders, instead of sayiny you represent real Christians, and leave the majority of real Christians to observe Christianity the way it was meant to be observed. You could start by going up against the minority of Muslims that are your counterparts and leave the rest of us to live life without being told by either of the two groups how to conduct our lives.
By the way, how many of your loved ones are fighting in Iraq? You also need to put some of that money where your mouth is and help buy protective armor for the troops. Leaders lead by example, not by cowering cowardice and fighting words.

Radical Muslim: We drink our enemies’
Radical Muslim: We drink our enemies’ blood

http://www.controlcongress.com

How do we deal with radical Muslims in the U.S.? Should we deport all fundamentalist Muslims? If Padilla claims to be a fundamentalist should we keep him in our Country?

DUBLIN, Ireland (CNN) – At a recent debate over the battle for Islamic ideals in England, a British-born Muslim stood before the crowd and said Prophet Mohammed’s message to nonbelievers is: “I come to slaughter all of you.”

“We are the Muslims,” said Omar Brooks, an extremist also known as Abu Izzadeen. “We drink the blood of the enemy, and we can face them anywhere. That is Islam and that is jihad.”

Anjem Choudary, the public face of Islamist extremism in Britain, added that Muslims have no choice but to take the fight to the West.

Choudary, whose group Al-Mahajiroun disbanded before the British government could outlaw it under its anti-terror laws, spoke to CNN and made clear he wants to see Islamic law for Britain.

“All of the world belongs to Allah, and we will live according to the Sharia wherever we are,” said Choudary, a lawyer. “This is a fundamental belief of the Muslims.”

Asked if he believes in democracy, he said, “No, I don’t at all.”

“One day, the Sharia will be implemented in Britain. It’s a matter of time.”

“I happen to be in an ideological and political war,” Choudary said. “My brothers in al Qaeda and other Mujahedeen are involved in a military campaign.”
