Will the Dems' health care Christmas Present to America be an improvement or detriment to our health care system?

Rush Limbaugh, Sean Hannity, Laura Ingraham, and Ann Coulter and many others in the conservative media have been attacking Senator McCain relentlessly, assailing him as a liberal and referring to him as "Juan McCain." Limbaugh has claimed that a McCain (or Huckabee) nomination would "destroy the Republican Party."

Frankly, it is unfathomable to me and many others how any honest and responsible person could fail to say exactly that about Willard Mitt Romney -- if they've done the homework assignment  Now that Romney has "suspended" his campaign and McCain looks like the inevitable nominee, many of the conservative elites continue to cavil and lambaste McCain. Ann Coulter stated on "Hannity & Colmes" that she would go work for Hillary before voting for McCain. Hmmm.

Not to be outdone, talk radio host Laura Ingraham stated "there is no way in hell" she could "pull the lever for John McCain."

I for one am getting a little sick and tired of listening to the relentless screeds and caterwauling of these conservative elites who are in many regards totally disconnected from the conservative base -- especially the evangelical Christian field slaves who bring in the harvest. Why are the spoiled elites complaining about McCain like a bunch of petulant children when the reality is that, collectively, they share considerable blame for the fact that McCain is our likely nominee?

You see for months these conservative elites have been whitewashing by far the most left wing GOP presidential candidate in American history, Mitt Romney.

Most left wing GOP candidate you say, Gregg? But all the conservative talkers told me he was the most able to unite the Reagan Coalition. I thought he was the most conservative candidate we had?

Let's review what the conservative pundit "Dream Team" ruthlessly covered up about their boy Mitt while inadvertently putting us on a one-stop railroad to McCain City. As I have written in numerous exposes here on Townhall.com, as governor, Willard Mitt Romney:

- Signed into law a mandatory health insurance plan that established taxpayer-funded abortion at fifty dollars each as a healthcare "benefit" (after his supposed "pro-life conversion.) -- a healthcare plan enthusiastically endorsed by Ted Kennedy, Hillary Clinton, and Planned Parenthood -- that the Wall St. Journal has recently reported is already in "intensive care."

- Illegally instituted "same sex marriage" in the Cradle of Liberty to fulfill a campaign promise to the Log Cabin Republicans he made to them in 2002 not to oppose "same sex marriage" in the process violating  at least 8 articles of the oldest functioning constitution in the world- the Massachusetts Constitution authored by John Adams.

- Forced Catholic Charities, the state's largest and oldest adoption and foster care agency to place children with homosexual couples (or abandon all adoption and foster child work to non-Christian politically correct left-wing agencies -- which they eventually were forced to do). Romney lied to pretend he was under a legal obligation to do this, but even former Massachusetts Governor Mike Dukakis pointed out that with a stroke of his pen Romney could have canceled the administrative regulation that he was pretending was a "law."

- Forced Catholic Hospitals to issue abortifacients ("morning after" abortion pills) even though they were not legally required to do so. Again, Romney lied about state law to cover his motive and was against caught doing so by liberal former governor Dukakis! (How does a supposedly "pro-life," "conservative" Republican keep getting caught sneaking to the left of Michael Dukakis?)

- Supported homosexual Boy Scout Masters and state laws barring discrimination based on sexual orientation.

- Raised taxes and government fees by over $700 million which decimated the Massachusetts economy.

- Shifted state taxes to municipalities to appear to balance the budget (his "economic miracle") causing local property taxes to skyrocket and devastate many families.

- Supported McCain-Feingold "campaign finance reform" and McCain-Kennedy "comprehensive immigration reform" (i.e. amnesty) and opposed the Bush Tax Cuts.

In establishing taxpayer-funded abortion on demand as a "healthcare benefit" and unconstitutionally ordering officials to perform "same-sex marriages," Mitt Romney was able to achieve what neither Hillary nor Barak nor any other Democrat has ever been able to.

Yet Ann Coulter, who was quick to accuse GOP primary voters in Iowa and New Hampshire who refused to vote for her cutie-pie Romney of "not doing their homework," ignored Romney's entire far left wing record and declared Romney to be "manifestly our best candidate?" What was that about "homework", Ann?

So what does all this have to do with McCain, you ask?

Simple.  The conservative talkers and pundits like Rush, Sean, Laura, and Ann flagrantly misled their listeners and readers by falsely portraying Romney as a conservative. Many who would likely have voted for Huckabee cast their ballot for Romney-- the guy who Rush, Sean, Laura, and Ann maintained was the true conservative that would unite "all three legs" of the Reagan Coalition.

And they weren't alone. Pseudo-conservative mercenaries like lawyers Jay Sekulow, Jim Bopp, David French, Hugh Hewitt, teamed with the now-discredited Richard Land, Gary Bauer, and Tony Perkins in deceiving their "flocks" by whitewashing Romney as an authentic social conservative whom pro-family "values voters" could support.

Had these talkers, pundits, and conservative "leaders" told the truth about Romney's $50 subsidized abortions, failing government run healthcare plan, $700 million in tax increases, increased funding for homosexual indoctrination starting in kindergarten, illegal institution of same sex marriage by misrepresenting the Goodridge court opinion and lying about the Massachusetts Constitution, support for homosexual Scout Masters etc… voters interested in supporting a true conservative would have likely gravitated toward Governor Huckabee far sooner and in huge numbers. But that couldn't be allowed to happen. The social conservative voters are the field slaves in this party, not the decision-makers.

Romney's limousine-chasing lawyers and rent-a-pundits savaged Huckabee with gross misrepresentations of his record and sabotaged conservatives' chance to deny John McCain the nomination. Instead of having the author of McCain-Feingold, McCain-Kennedy, and McCain-Lieberman as our nominee, we could have had the most authentic across-the-board conservative candidate currently in the race (Huckabee) -- the only candidate who supports a Human Life Amendment and a Federal Marriage Amendment, who is credibly and unapologetically pro-second Amendment, in favor of securing our border and building the fence (he has been endorsed by Duncan Hunter), and who has proposed the most aggressive fiscal tax policy of any candidate -- the Fair Tax, which would abolish the IRS and federal income tax.

These are not what honest people smear as "Jimmy Carter positions." Yet that's who the radio talkers and pundits keep telling us Huckabee is.  The truth was that their boy Mitt Romney is the GOP's closest counterpart to the Democrats' soulless Rorschach test, Barak Obama, a truly dangerous demagogue.

So, please, enough with the McCain-bashing, Rush, Sean, Laura, and Ann. We could have had an authentic conservative Mike Huckabee as our nominee. Had you and your fellow travelers not waterboarded conservative voters for about a year with falsehoods, Huckabee would have united the base (you know those 40 million conservative Christians who put Republicans in the White House election after election). Do you think thinking conservatives are any more happy than you are with McCain as the Republican nominee? Not on your life. But the difference between you and us is, this is your fault.

Enough already!
I do not agree with, and question much of what was presented in the article. That said, what I do agree with wholeheartedly is that Rush, Sean, Rusty, and Laura - all of whom I love to listen to - need to can it already. The primary is over, the dust has settled, and McCain is the nominee. We had our chance with Fred (too lethargic) and Duncan Hunter (not enough support) and it did not happen. The most complete conservative candidates did not get traction. Further whining about how incomplete McCain is is not going to change the fact that Hillary or Obama will damage the country irrevocably if elected. The goofballs who claim that McCain is just as bad as either of those two are just as nuts as some of the liberals we normally dismantle on these blogs

Gregg...some like YOUR crying...
Just as loud.
Who cares what Rush, Sean, Laura, Anne or Levin, for that matter, think about McCain!
That is only 5 votes by my count! :)

Revival of the Republican Party!
"Limbaugh has claimed that a McCain (or Huckabee) nomination would 'destroy the Republican Party.'"

A McCain candidacy won't destroy the Republican Party, just the conservative wing... and good riddance! Who needs 'em!

It's about time the Republicans returned to their pre-Reagan roots and allowed this country to begin to make progress again!! (can you say, "progressive"? --- sure, I knew you could!)

I will NEVER EVER vote McCain
For all your attacks on Romney, no one NOT EVEN Obama/Hitlery has an ex- Vincent Fox cabinet member on his 'team.' McCain's co-chair is none other than the owner of Univision.

That rat's biggest desire is to give 20plus illegals amnesty and citizenship along with the millions and millions of their relatives.

No way will I vote for him. He agenda would be the destruction of this country from the inside out. Let the GOP gets some balls and fight a real enemy instead of another wolf in sheep's clothing.

dittoheads
Rush, Sean, Laura, and Ann aren't interested in candidate who thinks for himself. They want a dittohead. They loved the candidate that danced to their fiddle.

Neither Hillary nor Obama could possibly do more damage to our country than George W. Bush

Huckabee for President
Huckabee is still in the race, all the way to brokered convention, Lord willing. Please vote and amke your voice heard as the article above says, for the ONLY authentic conservative!!

And for those of you with a platform, please endorse Huckabee and please dispel any lies, distortions or myths, and please be a conduit for hope and truth in this election!!! Thanks, Shannon & Stan

Huckabee 2008

Conservatives
myself included, were not at all happy with the field of candidates. We were indecisive for too long as to which candidate to support. We all believed McCain's candidacy to be dead, so we weren't worried about him. He was a non-issue. However, because of back room deals, the powers-that-be ressurected McCain in spite of what the base wanted. This is what we're all objecting to. We do not want McCain. We never wanted McCain.

Support for Romney came only after McCain was foisted upon us. He seemed our only way out of a McCain endorsement. It is not because conservatives love Romney, they just hate McCain.

Hopefully, the powers-that-be will recognize that they are backing a loosing proposition before it's too late. All of the noise against McCain is the sound of hope. When we all shut up, hope will be lost.

Captain America
Thanks!

All these blatherers need to think about their jobs if HRC should be elected. Free speech is really not what she wants.

The "Democratic" party can't even hold honest primary elections. Nice to have those Super Delagates!

God forbid that the nominee be actually chosen by the people. What does the riff-raff know about what's good for them?

Ignore the RINO and Work CONGRESS
I truly believe that we NEED to lose POTUS in November for the GOOD of the CONSERVATIVE movement, for several reasons.

There is virtually NO difference between McCain and Hillary/Obama in several MAJOR areas.

Global warming (McCain-Lieberman) will cause us to have at least a 50 cent/gal increase in gas which will only help India's and China's growth at the expense of ours!

GITMO and Waterboarding: McCain wants to close GITMO and calls waterboarding torture. For crying out loud, DEMI MOORE was waterboarded in GI JANE (probably through MULTIPLE TAKES) and "survived". Waterboarding is psychological, not life threatening like our enemies (BEHEADING anyone?).

AMNESTY: Juan Hernandez is McCain's "Mexican advisor". If you have ever seen him on Hannity or O'Reilly, you will see he is a nutcase, and a MEXICO FIRST person. How does McCain explain that while saying he is for "securing our borders"?

Why should GOOD Conservatives in Congress give the DEMOCRATS cover when McCain implements THEIR AGENDA?

Let the DEMS take the blame when this crap screws up the country!

We win BIG in the midterm elections and romp into the White House in 2012.

It took 4 years of CARTER to give us REAGAN!

SUPPORT CONGRESS and SENATE CONSERVATIVES (NOT RINOs like McCain, Graham, Snow, etc.). If they want to be "Democrat Light", let them do it from the other side of the aisle!

McCain/Feingold
Yeah McCain cares about free speech......

Ignore the RINO and Work CONGRESS Cont.
My best advice, other than getting a Dem Lite in McCain that will turn back the clock on conservatism, I would suggest letting him, and ALL OTHER RINOS "twist in the wind" for the GOOD of the Party.

Whenever the GOP tries to become a "softer and kinder" party (code for "caving in" to liberals), we get hammered! Why would someone want a "faux Dem" to a "real Dem"?

Do you REALLY think all these "so called" independents and the MSM will STAY with McCain after the nomination is secured? FAT CHANCE!

They will both turn on him like a pack of wild dogs!

Screw McCain! Let him suffer a Dole/Mondale size loss! It would be the best thing for the GOP.

We should concentrate ALL our efforts (and MONEY) in supporting our TRUE CONSERVATIVE House and Senate nominees (NOT more RINOs!).

The benefit is TWO FOLD!

One, even if McCain does win, we will have a solid base to FIGHT him when he proposes his LIBERAL positions, or HELP him when he supports the conservative ideas.

Two, a solid conservative House and Senate will be able to CONTAIN Hillary/Obama when they try to go too far "off the reservation".

THIS way, it doesn't MATTER who wins the White House!

Remember how NEWT contained Clinton?

Sounds like a plan to me.

BTW, my wife and I voted for ROMNEY in the VA primary! I just couldn't bring myself to vote for Huckabee, in spite of the fact that I LIKE his idea of a brokered convention.

Decision Time by Col. North
"During the course of the past six years, I have made a dozen protracted trips to cover U.S. soldiers, sailors, airmen, guardsmen and Marines defending us against a jihad hostile to all that we hold dear. In the dark days when Iraq's Anbar province was the bloodiest place on the planet, John McCain was one of the few in Congress brave enough to venture into that cauldron. I know because I saw him there.

During those trips, he listened to bright, brave young Americans wearing flak jackets and flight suits and became a steadfast supporter of a winning strategy for ending this long and costly conflict. But the senator's commitment goes far beyond political rhetoric. One of his sons is a student at our alma mater; the other is a Marine Corps lance corporal serving in harm's way. Thanks to John McCain's vision and resolve, a few weeks ago, my cameraman and I walked in shirt sleeves down streets in Ramadi and Fallujah, where we used to dodge bullets, IEDs and RPGs."

McCain has 2 sons serving this country. That is enough of a conservative for me!

It doesn't surprise me...
...that the right wing of the party is fighting so hard against McCain. They have spent the last 25 years enjoying power far in excess of their actual numbers. Now they see that power threatened. They would rather see real harm inflicted on the country than lose the precious power they have enjoyed for so long.

Part of the problem is that after this long, many Republicans are too young to remember how we got here. They believe they are entitled to that power as a birthright. What is worse is they honestly believe they are not only the majority of the party, they think they are the majority of the country. Why else would they be so eager to expel anyone who doesn't toe their line.

The base of this party is the center-right. We have tolerated the far right in the mistaken belief that we needed them to win. The problem with this reasoning is that we have lost the Independents and Conservative Democrats who voted for Reagan and the Republican Congress in 1994. This has to stop or we will be consigned to the oblivion of minority status indefinitely.

We need restore the coalition which brought Republicans into power. The right wing can come along as one voice among many, or they can go off and disappear into obscurity. This election cycle has shown that the true base is unwilling to be held hostage any longer.

I Agree With Chaos
I can not and will not in good conscience vote for McCain because he is for open borders and the NAU. Dr Juan Smiley Hernandez has free rein in McCain's offices. I will, however, support conservative local and state candidates.

McCain will probably lose but if he did by some chance win, I don't need to be contributing to his mandate.

No $$ To The RNC!!
Also, I'm giving zero to the RINORNC. Pass it on.

REALITY
I am simply looking at REALITY.

REALITY: McCain is HOSED and has no chance of winning. The only question at this point is how BADLY he will lose!

REALITY: Us true conservatives need to have an ACTION plan for the future.

REALITY: Staying home and killing the chance of the House and Senate nominees is NOT an OPTION, although the blogosphere is rife with those WANTING to stay home to protest McCain (which is playing right into the Dems hands).

REALITY: Sometimes the country AND the party has to take one step backward (Hillary/Obama/Carter) to take SEVERAL steps forward (Reagan, Newt, Mitt) in the next election.

REALITY: The DEMS Congressional Approval rating is in the toilet! They (with Reid and Pelosi in charge) will COMPOUND their problem, and will make the 2010 midterms MUCH more competitive. 1994 ring a bell?

REALITY: Us true conservatives will have to "suck it up" this time around, but NOT at the expense of our guys providing cover and support to THEIR ideas (if McCain gets in). Bad choice in by anyone's stretch of the imagination.

REALITY: Let THEM take the blame for killing the economy, and then we can get some REAL reforms passed when the country rejects them in 2010.

I have about 15 more REALTIES if you are not convinced.

rush, laura, sean
yeah the people who read up on romney... knew this about him. I think the problem is that sean, laura, rush.. they are more fiscal conservatives as opposed to moral. They thought he was the massiah because he was a millionair businessman but they forgot he did raise taxes..so go figure. I think where he went wrong is sending out the attack ads of half-truths and then dening it.

CHAOS Immigration Plan
I am an organizational management specialist known for my "out of the box" solutions.

For those of you unfamiliar with "out of the box" thinking...

Simply put...

Out of the box thinking is finding UNCONVENTIONAL solutions to CONVENTIONAL problems.

But the PRIME DIRECTIVE of TRUE "out of the box" thinkers (like Reagan, Newt, and Mitt) is that the solution must be PRAGMATIC!

Want an "out of the box" solution to Immigration?

Read it here...

My plan is better than ANY I have seen from either party.

Check it out.

Chaos
exactly.......do you notice that the swarmy, smiley J. Hernadez calls everyone, 'my friend' just like McCain? They both make my skin crawl. I'm voting in the Texas primary and I'm votin' OBAMA!! I think the likes of a M. McConnel has a better chance of defeating his leftist ideas than a vindictive, Mexcican-first McCain.

God Himself Brought Mitt Romney down
This article is right on target.

You can fool a lot of people but you cannot fool God. Mitt Romney had blood on his hands of innocent unborn babies related to his 50 dollar co-pay abortions in Taxachusetts. God Himself brought Mitt Romney down. God is keeping Huckabee in the race, perhaps not to win, but to make millions of Republicans realize they are leaning on an ungodly house with no foundation and it's going to fall and collapse like a house of cards. We're in the End Times and all this is symptomatic of much deeper problems than most care to acknowledge.

What moron...
...wrote this column?

Like the dedicated Leftists in the MSM, this "Gregg Jackson" character has it backwards. The conservative base doesn't revile McCain because Rush, Sean, Laura and Ann tell us to. We revile McCain because he reviles such a large portion of what we stand for.

McCain is not a conservative. He is an open-borders, speech-restricting, carbon-taxing liberal. "Gregg Jackson" may not have the perspicacity to realize this, but thinking conservatives do. Limbaugh, Hannity, Ingram and Coulter aren't telling the base what to do; they're merely reflecting what the base is already feeling.

Mitt Romney isn't the issue. We had several sound conservatives in the GOP race--Thompson, Tancredo, Hunter, and Romney. They split the vote long enough for the liberal and the thoughtless among Republican voters to launch McCain to the forefront.

You might also want to check the news a little more often...Romney has dropped out. Setting him up as McCain's problem is not particularly smart analysis.

I won't vote for McCain. I'd rather take my lumps in 2008 and get a real Republican in 2012 than risk eight years of McCain.

Thank you, Gregg!
How refreshing to have a columnist finally tell it like it is!!! What really disturbs me is that what is as clear as the bright blue sky to me (whose conservative education came from the likes of Rush and Sean) seems to be lost on those guys completely. Could some of the students really have outlearned their teachers?

I know a conservative when I see one (thanks in part to the criteria set by those who cry over the airwaves now) and Mike Huckabee sure fits the definition. Mitt Romney never did have any credibility in that area -- even without much homework, or intellectual curiosity. The reason for their choice of Mitt had little to do with his conservatism, methinks.

Thank God Mike is still in this thing all the way to a brokered convention, giving us field slaves a calm voice of reason in a field of posers. Too bad it will fall on deaf ears.

The GOP has lost me -- too corrupt, thanks.
Left is right, you can have it all. Good luck getting anyone elected, though.

CHAOS
"I truly believe that we NEED to lose POTUS in November for the GOOD of the CONSERVATIVE movement, for several reasons."

This is like giving a two-year-old child a loaded handgun because he needs to learn gun safety.

In case you haven't noticed, we live in a dangerous world. We know from past experience (Clinton, Carter) what a Democrat will do as POTUS. We know the consequences (Iran, 9/11). This outweighs any complaint you may have with McCain over campaign finance or immigration.

Four years is a long time. If you want to put it in perspective, think about how you would feel if we were looking down the barrel of a nuclear-armed Iran or Al Qaeda in four years. Is your "movement" worth that? Will your "movement" be able to put that genie back in the bottle?

We're playing Russian Roulette with live ammo here. Is this really the game you want to be playing? Wise up.

All the name calling in this article
Will not be swaying my vote. As a matter of fact, it's done the opposite and I'm seriously considering becoming a volunteer for the Hillary campaign after reading this article. If McVain really wants Conservatives not to sit out the general and vote for him, he better order all of his attack dogs who have been attacking Conservatives left and right to restrain themselves. Until then, good luck trying to "mend fences" with those of us who have opposed him from the beginning. He cannot "unite" the party behind him while continuing to allow his attack dogs to keep on attacking those from whom he wants support.

The way I see it, this election is THE perfect opportunity to purge all RINOs like McVain from the Republican Party, once and for all. I would rather suffer through 4 years of Hillary than to see a pompous, mean-spirited RINO like McVain in office who will do more damage to the GOP than Hillary could ever be capable of doing. A Hillary presidency would probably unite the Party instead of dividing it like McVain would.

Let's all work toward the common goal of electing a Conservative Congressional majority to keep a President Hillary or Obama in check. As I currently see it, McVain will NEVER become POTUS.

Republicans need a brokered convention.
The 2008 Republican Nomination has been plagued with misinformation and conflicts of interest. The only way to resolve this is at the convention.

1. Romney was sold as the “conservative” candidate, by his $87 million in ads & mailings, etc.. ($35 million his money) spent in 2007;
http://www.nytimes.com/2008/02/02/us/politics/

and by talk show radio hosts (Limbaugh, Hannity, Levine, Glenn Beck, Laura Ingraham....etc.) who were under a conflict of interest. Romney’s Bain Capital bought Clear Channel Communications in Nov 2006 … along with the syndication rights to Limbaugh and others and their access to 1100 radio stations, TV stations.
http://www.washingtonpost.com article 11/16/2006

and by conservative groups such as Jay Sekulow, Dobson, Tony Perkins, Lou Sheldon (Traditional Values Coalition), Paul Weyrich, National Review, who never distinguished between Huckabee and Romney’s records, even though they are like day and night with respect to being conservative.

Why these groups would believe Romney, especially when those from Massachusetts have said..

James Rappaport, former head of the Massachusetts Republican Party said Romney "has a strong record of showmanship as opposed to actual performance. .....His word is no good. Romney will be clear today on what he believes today, and he'll be clear tomorrow on what he believes tomorrow, but they may be different things."

wikipedia.com ………In a June 2007 New England Cable News interview, Barney Frank said: “The real Romney is clearly an extraordinarily ambitious man with no perceivable political principle whatsoever. He is the most intellectually dishonest human being in the history of politics.”

2. Romney’s record in Massachusetts and his family’s political history never were conservative. http://www.massresistance.org/romney/

Jackson Sells Out His Principles
So I see Mr. Jackson you've taken up smoking loco weed like Michael Medved & deluding yourself into believing Sen. McCain is a conservative's conservative & that Rush, Hannity, Ingraham, Levin, & Coulter are what ails conservatism. Sorry sir, but yourself, Medved, & other sycophants of the notion of "we must support McCain or we'll be eaten alive by the big, bad Hillary or Barack the Articulate" are what is killing real, solid to the core Conservatism! Three cheers to Limbaugh, Hannity, Ingraham, Levin, Coulter, & also Glenn Beck for sticking to their principles & giving their listeners the FACTS, not the delusional lies being forwarded by yourself, Medved, & even Bill Bennett & Bill Kristol! I had an enormous amount of respect for you Mr. Jackson after reading your excellent book "Conservative Comebacks To Liberal Lies", but I flushed that respect down the toilet after reading this garbage! REAL CONSERVATIVES DON'T THROW AWAY THEIR PRINCIPLES JUST TO WIN ELECTIONS MR. JACKSON! LOYAL REPUBLICANS DO THAT, NOT LOYAL CONSERVATIVES! You may be a loyal Republican Mr. Jackson, but you are by no means a loyal Conservative! Oh, and by the way Mr. Jackson, you left out one liberal lie from your book:
LIBERAL LIE = JOHN MCCAIN IS A CONSERVATIVE
CONSERVATIVE COMEBACK = WHEN HELL FREEZES OVER,
MAYBE!

Give it up, Gregg
Your anti-Romney screeds are boringly predictable. And we should trust you more than Rush, Laura, Mark, etc.? I don't get your very personal vendetta against Romney. You and Cameneker make quite a pair.

I want good government! I like Mike!
McCain benefited from the misrepresentation that Romney was conservative. McCain’s campaign staff was paid with George Soros’ money via McCain’s Reform Institute between elections. A “volunteer” on his campaign staff, is a former cabinet member of Vicente Fox with dual citizenship.
http://www.worldnetdaily.com/index.php?fa=PAGE.view&pageId= 56177

I can take wide differences of opinion in politics, but I can’t take manipulation and misinformation. I guess Thomas Jefferson was right, “The price of liberty is eternal vigilance.”

I will support the Republican nominee in the fall, but I’m not done yet fighting for the truth. I want good government. I want Mike Huckabee to be President.

Dems Will NOT Get Out of Iraq!
Believe me, the DEMS are NOT going to unilaterally get out of Iraq and leave the Iraqis in the lurch. If we were ATTACKED again if they did that, the BACKLASH on the DEMS would be overwhelming, and possibly enough to once and for all kill the radical wing of the party.

So, the question is...

Who do YOU want to get the blame for the terrible policies EITHER McCain or Hillary/Obama will ALL bring to the table?

Let THEM get the blame for McCain-Kennedy and McCain-Lieberman, not US.

Let THEM suffer the backlash of higher taxes, and the effect of the economy (start saving your pennies, you are going to NEED them!).

Let THEM try to explain their reluctance to fix Social Security, Medicare, and INCREASE the tax burden on ALL Americans, not just the rich. Rich to Dems is ANYONE making more than MINIMUM WAGE!

McCain is no more than Dem Lite!

WHY squander the effectiveness of the TRUE CONSERVATIVES in Congress by forcing THEM to give cover to LIB Ideas simply because it is a Republican that favors it?

Let THEM have the WH.

Let THEM get the BLAME!

Let US take back the House and Senate and FIGHT THEM every inch of the way, instead of our guys being forced to accept THEIR crap!

I am a CONSERVATIVE first, and a Republican second.

PRINCIPLES always prevail (over time). If us CONSERVATIVES stick to our guns and refuse to allow "Dem Lite" McCain to get elected, we will cut our own throat for DECADES!

Sometimes a party has to take one step back to move 4 steps forward!

Remember a Carter win gave us a Reagan!

An HRC or Obama election will do the same thing.

We need to let the RINOs (ALL of THEM!) "twist in the wind" while us true conservatives concentrate on electing NON-RINOs to the House and Senate, which will stymie BOTH the Dems AND Dem-Lite McCain for their outrageous positions.

I want good government! I like Mike!

Media caused McCain "coronation"
I agree totally with this article and the comments about the media's insistance on biased journalism trying to force Mitt Romney down conservatives' throats. This total bias against Mike Huckabee caused a confused conservative base to be split between Romeny and Huckabee. Of course, Huckabee got nothing from the press that was positive but he did have the message and the silver tongue with which to deliver it. Because Guiliani chose not to participate in early states, McCain was able to gain momentum while these conserviative votes were split. Funny that Thompson, who camped in SC for months and tood the SC win away from Huck (though just by 3%) dropped out as soon as he had done his deed. Then, when the GOP, begrudgingly took McCain as their man, the media and eveyone else began to gang up on Mike Huckabee who is just running in the race by the rules created by the Repulican Party. I have been angered by the endorsement of Romney to McCain and, most especially, by his asking to have the CONSERVATIVE votes that, by his own admission wer split with Huckabee all to McCain. This, after Mitt sayig how "Washington is broken" and we can't send McCain back there....It's apparent that Romney puts party first and people last. I am proud to support Mike Huckabee and to see a man who is willing to put his career at risk for the people of this country and issues he so believes in. John McCain is a war here. Mike Huckabee is an American Hero....

CONSERVATIVE COMEBACK = WHEN HELL FREEZES OVER,
MAYBE!

What good are your principles...
...in the face of another 9/11-style attack? What will you tell the families of the victims? The GOP had to be punished for ignoring you? Are you really that shallow?

There really is a War on Terror going on. They have declared war on us. We have held them at bay for the last 6 1/2 years, but what happens when we have Democrat for Commander and Chief? We have taken the fight to the terrorists and by doing so, we have prevented attacks on our home soil and potentially saved the lives of thousands of our citizens.

All that ends under President Obama or President Hillary. They will withdraw from Iraq and they will leave us weak. Al Qaeda thrives on our weakness. Are you so debased that you would leave us open to attack just to feed your personal agenda? Is this the legacy you want to leave your grandchildren?

Why I won't vote for McCain
For those who don't get it, let me try to explain it with small words. The republican party has taken the conservative wing of the party for granted as they have moved further and further toward the center(a.k.a. the left). At some point, and it might as well be now, the conservatives need to let the Republican party see if they can survive without the conservative support. If the conservatives keep voting for the republican candidate because they are less evil then the democratic candidate there is no impetus for the republicans to stop moving further left.

McCain is not conservative on campaign finance reform(McCain-Feingold). He is not conservative on global warming(McCain-Lieberman). He is not conservative on illegal immigration and closing our southern boarder(McCain-Kennedy). He was part of the Keating-5. He was part of the Gang of 14.

I'll work my tail off for conservative senators and congressmen, only if they promise to oppose whomever is president at every turn. The best we can hope for is a Federal Government that can't accomplish anything. Doing nothing is better than doing the wrong thing.

Conga Hands

Huckabee is no better than McCain
Huckabee likes having illegal aliens in Arkansas. His tax plan is okay. But his trying to keep the press quiet about his son who did an imitation of Michael Vick tells me that his morals aren't that different from the previous governor of Arkansas that became president.

Definitely don't want to repeat that.

What's the problem w/McCain?....
For all that you can say about O'Billary (and that is a great deal)...

Neither of them has actually pushed through legislation specifically designed to be back-door interference to the First Amendment of the US Constitution.

Think about that for a moment...

...pushed through legislation specifically designed to be back-door interference to the First Amendment of the US Constitution.

He is supposed to have taken an oath to DEFEND the US Constitution.

My Grandfather used to say "Trust people to do what you've seen them do."

An Oath....

- MuscleDaddy

I don't think Mitt
ever went out of his way to be a jerk, more than once I might add, to his own party. He never tried to undermine the President because he didn't win his wittle bitty election nomination.

That's my main reason for not voting for Kerry's ex-maybe VP running mate.

Mitt also was running in a god-forsaken part of the country known as Taxachussetts. He did okay for Dem/lib psycho land. What is Maverick's excuse?

Also, will you TH writers please figure out which of us are the "real" conservatives? Here is a clue, McCain's own people keep saying they have to reach out to the conservatives. Get it? The elites are the ones who got McCain nominated. They could have pushed for Duncan Hunter but they did not.

CHAOS
"Remember a Carter win gave us a Reagan!"

Carter also gave us the Ayatollah and a potentially nuclear-armed State sponsor for radical Islam. Are you really willing to risk more of the same just because McCain refuses to bend down and kiss your a**. Your vote has consequences. Be aware of your responsibility.

If that fails to move you and political concerns are your only motivation, consider this. If McCain wins without the support of the right wing, you're done. Finished. Your influence will be nil for years to come. So, how debased are you?

As a matter of fact....
....once Tom Tancredo, Duncan Hunter, and Fred Thompson were out of the race, there wasn't a conservative left to support. Neither Huckabee, Romney, or McCain are right on enough issues to be able to hold my nose and vote for them.

Apparently the people of this country aren't bright enough to see how dangerous illegal immigration, and Islam are to this country. As a true conservative, I would encourage you to make sure you can take care of yourself, because the government is going to be more worried about forcing you into a health care program of their choosing, than making sure some jihadi doesn't strap a blasting cap and two sticks of dynamite to a mentally disabled girl and use her as a remote controlled bomb.

Pimpernel
"That's my main reason for not voting for Kerry's ex-maybe VP running mate."

Are you really that gullible? That was an invention of MSM. Remember them? Kerry never had any intention of asking and McCain never had any intention of accepting if asked. If you think that was real, you need start from square one and relearn everything you thought you knew for the last 8 years.

A Hit Piece?
Why now? A little late isn't it? From your link to the underground journal, I gathered it is an evangelical site. Your statement that Romney got some votes from evangelicals that he wouldn't have if they had read your hit piece, is laughable. I understand your dismay. Your pastor is not going to get nominated. The faithful evangelical slaves did not bring in the crop this year and no amount of blaming Romney is going to help. All you have done is destroy the republican party. I have no complaint there. It needed it.

The next four years will be the democrats time to regulate commerce. When they are done ruining it, you and your slaves will get another chance to regulate everyone's behavior in the bedroom. Neither one of you will ever be happy.

Screaming Romney is not a conservative from the rooftops may make you feel better but, the country is not going to be better for it.

When can I read the expose on Huckabee?

Complainers
I thought that Laura, Shaun and Rush were complainers and that Ann had lapsed into hysteria. Now Gregg Jackson appears as the worst complainer of them all. What will we do when Obama and/or Hillary start their tirades against Republicans?

Cry all you want
Obama will beat McCain and win the white house. He will make a very good president. In 4 years he will be re-elected.

Thus the 8 lean years of Bush will be followed by a rebuilding of America back to its basic core beliefs. We will once again be respected by all on the world stage.

After 8 years of Obama, the jihadist threat to America will be neutralized. The economy will be strong again and the tax burden will be fairer.

So, the more republican fools wring their hands and sit on the sidelines the better. The greater will be the democratic victory in November and the more dead wood will be swept out in the aftermath.

Conga Hands Is Correct
Huckleberry is no better than McCain. In fact, he gives me the creeps. The thought of having to watch a formerly fat slimeball playing his stupid guitar... yeech.

Huckster is pro amnesty and left the Arkansas Republican party in ruins. At this point he IS useful for staying in the race, however. Run, Huckleberry, run!

JJBiener
You don't get it. The republicans have already decided that my influence is nil. If they win without the conservatives of the party, then they are correct, and I need to know that hard truth.

I really don't think I am so fringe that McCain can win without me and those that are as conservative as I am. But if I am, I need to learn that difficult lesson, and figure out where I go after that.

The left wing nutjobs like MuscleDaddy, and the mainstream media think that my viewpoints are right wing lunatic fringe. We'll see what happens. McCain, Huckabee, and Romney put together, are not worthy of my vote.

JJBiener writes:
"All that ends under President Obama or President Hillary. They will withdraw from Iraq and they will leave us weak. Al Qaeda thrives on our weakness. Are you so debased that you would leave us open to attack just to feed your personal agenda? Is this the legacy you want to leave your grandchildren?"

As I said in an earlier post, the Dems will NOT leave Iraq!

They may be DUMB, but they are NOT STUPID!

Even the Dems on the Armed Service Committee, the Intelligence Committee, and the rest that have CONSTANT briefings from DoD/DHS/CIA about Iraq KNOW that leaving precipitously will do irreparable harm!

In spite of all the Dem's touting that the war was the reason they won in 2006, you STILL don't see them ABANDONING Iraq, do you? They have had over a year to do so, but they haven't.

Sure, they may "scream and yell" and pontificate about "GW's War", but they never seem to get enough votes to do anything that could harm our troops or get us out. Do you REALLY think that will change? There are enough Dem "patriots" that will take a hard look at the consequences and actually VOTE to protect America (as the Senate did when passing the new FISA law). Yeah, the House has DELAYED it, but in the end, their OWN party will revolt against Pelosi (as they did to Reid), and pass the thing when they return.

There were a lot of "conservative" Dems elected in 2006. If they want to be REELECTED, they will not be as stupid as their leadership.

So, your concerns are not only unfounded, but specious at best.

AMERICANS want VICTORY, REGARDLESS of party affiliation!

comment to conga hands
Mike Huckabee is a strong family leader and has a great family! Many, many children grow up and sometimes veer from their family and from the Lord, but once they are adults, it is their own responsibility not the father (according to the Bible Ezekiel 18). Plus, often things are distorted and only God knows the heart and the truth of his son, so beware to judge lest you be judged. His son was 17 (adult age according to Bible) and is now 27, and Mike is not responsible if he has veered away. Remember the Prodigal Son (Luke 15). How come the media isn't sharing all the wonderful things about his family, how he took extended time off and cared for his wife when she had spinal cancer, or how his daughter is a lawyer, or how his wife is a prominent leader, as well, and his sister is a successful woman, etc. Please learn more before you make comments that are biased and untrue, and be careful to judge erroneously based on media-bias. Huckabee has done much good for the people!

JJ
The SHAH gave us the Ayatollah!

Not Carter!

The same scenario would have resulted in a Ford Presidency, although without the hostages.

Iran was ready to blow at any time. It just happened to happen on Carter's watch.

What most Dems (in their heart) realize is that the reason they hate us so much is that the US has disintegrated into a GODLESS society and THAT is "rubbing off" on the youth of the Islamic world.

Look at our movies, our Gay Pride exhibitions, our damning of ANYTHING religious by the left.

THAT is why they hate us!

Unfounded?
"So, your concerns are not only unfounded, but specious at best."

So, despite Obama promising he will withdraw all troops from Iraq, JJBeiner's concerns are unfounded? Interesting. Prove it. Your reasoning is pure speculation, based on implausible assumptions. Give us some hard proof.

TRUTH about NO amnesty
http://www.mikehuckabee.com/?FuseAction=Issues.View&Issue_i d=26

The Secure America Plan
A 9-Point Strategy for Immigration Enforcement and Border Security
Overview: Implement a broad-based strategy that commits the resources of the federal government to the enforcement of our immigration laws and results in the attrition of the illegal immigrant population.

1. Build the Fence

Ensure that an interlocking surveillance camera system is installed along the border by July 1, 2010.
Ensure that the border fence construction is completed by July 1, 2010.
2. Increase Border Patrol

Increase the number of border patrol agents.
Fully support all law enforcement personnel tasked with enforcing immigration law.
3. Prevent Amnesty

Policies that promote or tolerate amnesty will be rejected.
Propose to provide all illegal immigrants a 120-day window to register with the Bureau of Citizenship and Immigration Services and leave the country. Those who register and return to their home country will face no penalty if they later apply to immigrate or visit; those who do not return home will be, when caught, barred from future reentry for a period of 10 years.
This is not a "touchback" provision. Those who leave this country and apply to return from their home country would go to the back of the line.
4. Enforce the Law on Employers

Employment is the chief draw for most illegal immigrants and denying them jobs is the centerpiece of an attrition strategy.
Impose steep fines and penalties on employers that violate the law...

5. Establish an Economic Border

6. Empower Local Authorities

7. Ensure Document Security

8. Discourage Dual Citizenship...

9. Modernize the Process of Legal Immigration...

So, Carter wasn't that bad?
"The SHAH gave us the Ayatollah!

Not Carter!"

No, Carter allowed Khomeini to come to power by refusing to prop up the Shah.

Slacker
I think your first sentence prediction is probably accurate. Unfortunately, I hope the rest is accurate. We'll find out in a few years.

Here's how I see it.

O'bama will abandon Afghanistan, and Iraq, and they will return to islamofascist states a la Iran. No Arab country will ever trust us to keep our word ever again.

O'bama will take us down a path that will have us looking like Europe, with Muslims rioting in the streets for days because we "allowed" a newspaper to print something that upset them. O'bama will restrict the freedom of the press to appease the Islamo-fascists.

O'bama will increase the top tax rate to something over 50% and by penalizing the profit motive, encourage business people to implement massive layoffs as they downsize their companies. Inflation will go crazy, and the economy will spiral out of control as O'bama's healthcare plan forces the country to dismantle the military to pay for it.

Once Iran has nuclear weapons, there will be one or two major cities disappear and Barack will capitulate and declare the U.S. an islamic nation and implement sharia law. There will be mass murder of gays, and women will be forced to quit their jobs and wear those lovely black bags.

Okay, my scenario isn't going to happen and I know it. But it's as likely as your is.

Conga Hands writes:

The SHAH
was so corrupt that his fall would have happened anyway REGARDLESS of who was in the WH.

Iran's oppressive government is starting to catch up with itself. Massive unemployment, shortages of food and consumer goods, constant threats of MORE sanctions is starting to take its toll.

Like the SHAH, the corruption of the current government will be its own downfall.

Stan Roberts
Please read what I write before you respond. You are actually helping me to make my point.

I didn't attack Huckabee over what his kid did. That's unfortunate but sons do stupid stuff sometimes. I have no respect for him because of the way he tried to keep his 17 year old son (supposedly an adult in your eyes) from having to endure the consequences of his actions. If he is willing to try to hush the news about his son killing an animal, what else is he willing to try to get the press to ignore?

As for his 9-point plan. If you do numbers 1 thru 4, the rest will follow. And in reality, if you do number 4. They'll go back across the boarder by themselves. We dont' even have to send them back. Points 1-3 are federal issues. If Huckabee feels so strongly about his plan he could have handled number 4 in Arkansas. But he didn't. So who's the real Mike Huckabee?

Thank you for this article
Other than leaving Clear Channel Communications (firm Romney founded) out which, with Romney’s suspension, apparently left many talk-show hosts without massive bonuses, I thought the article was right on.

I have been so frustrated with the marginalization of Huckabee. I often thought “Why doesn’t someone do something about all of the lies and mischaracterizations?”

I don’t have a link but Mike Huckabee told a story about taking his daughter to Germany. While there, they made a trip to one of the former concentration camps & Mike’s daughter was shocked at what she saw and she made a note in her journal “Why didn’t someone do something?” I look at our nation today and as great as it seems I think our founding fathers would be turning in their graves. Why doesn’t someone do something? Well Mike Huckabee and his supporters are trying but we need your help. Can you please help us do something so we can get our country back?

Please support Mike Huckabee!

Peace,

YK

Muscle Daddy
I apologize, I misread your comment. You're absolutely right. I read too fast and thought you were going down the left wing path of "government wiretaps of American citizens" while leaving out the part about "who happen to be talking on the phone with known terrorists".

Again, my apologies.

Santa Clause Realization... (1)
At 43 years old, I just went through a Santa Clause realization. You see, I used to think that I lived in a “free country” where “We the People” actually had an influence. It became infinitely clear to me that “We the People” are “We the Manipulated” and that the illusion of freedom and liberty is exactly that… an illusion. During this primary season I first realized that our country is really run by the super-elite and that elections are rigged such that government by the people and for the people is really government by the puppets and for the puppeteers.

Pay no attention to the man behind the curtain… Well, great and all powerful Oz… what lever or knob or dial will you be turning today in order to elect a puppet to replace Bush? Ah… who will play on the GOP side… This Huckabee fellow just won Iowa and he seems likeable... What? He won’t play the game? He won’t be beholden to us? Ah then… let’s pick someone else and then pull out all stops and marginalize this man of the people.

Santa Claus Realization... (2)
Lever 1 – Mischaracterizations by opponents - Must not allow Huckabee to win South Carolina and Missouri… Attack ads and mailers from Romney and Thompson in January and early February.
Dial 2 – Manipulate the Media - Memo to all Main Stream Media (“MSM”) that they will pay a harsh price (whatever that is… - fewer advertisement dollars, blackmail perhaps, etc.) to get their programs to emphasize non-presidential issues and to marginalize the excitement that Gov. Huckabee generates with the people. I could be wrong here… perhaps it was a great reward for playing the game vs. a harsh price for NOT playing…
Knob 3 – Play on Religious Sensitivities - Let’s toss some religious bigotry into MSM and the blogosphere and play on religious sensitivities.
Switch 4 – MSM misleading possible outcomes - must continue to communicate that Huckabee cannot win 1191 delegates during the primary season but conveniently omit the possibility that now that we are in a two-man race that it is possible that McCain might not either which would result in a brokered convention.
Button 6 – Endorsement Bandwagon - Let’s buy high-profile endorsements for the front-runner to create a bandwagon effect. Hmmm… what’s in it for me?
Control 7 – Gov’t is here to help – See, we’re not so bad… Let’s distract (fool) our citizens by showing what “good will” our government has… you know, the economic stimulus plan that basically borrows more from our future (you know, from our kids and grandkids) so we can stay in houses we never should have bought in the first place.

Still not buyin' it
"was so corrupt that his fall would have happened anyway REGARDLESS of who was in the WH."

Not so. Governments don't just fall because they're corrupt. The succeding government was and is even more corrupt, and don't expect it to fall anytime soon. Cuba is corrupt, but the government still stands, and if you think that Castro turning over power to Raul means anything, think again. N. Korea is corrupt, but the regime still stands. China is corrupt, but is a rising power. Russia is perpetually corrupt, yet that isn't changing. The European Union is corrupt...and growing rapidly.

You seem to think that bad things solve themselves by virtue of being bad. If that was true then the only obligation good men have...is to do nothing.

Without unity we will all lose
It looks like virtually everyone posting at this site agrees that a Cliton or Obama Presidency would be a disaster for this country. This is with the exception of Obama supporter Slacker. What an apt name for a Democrat!

Among the Republican posts, there are centrists who think that they don't need the conservative wing and that it has too much power. (E.g. Left is right; JJBiener.) There are also conservatives who think that they are taken for granted and that the party has been hijacked by the centrists. (E.g. Conga Hands, Mr.Conservative, CHAOS.)

We all need to face facts. The conservative wing, alone, cannot win elections. The centrist wing, alone, also cannot win elections. The Republican tent needs to be big enough for both, and to appeal to some independents and Reagan democrats.

I have my disagreements with Sen. McCain, on both substance and style. I supported Gov. Huckabee. But when have we had a "better" conservative President than Sen. McCain?

Pres. Reagan raised taxes, pulled out of Lebanon, appointed the "swing votes" on the liberal side on abortion, affirmative action, and homosexual issues (Justices O'Connor and Kennedy), and ran big budget deficits. Pres. G.H.W. Bush raised taxes after promising not to, signed the Civil Rights Act of 1991, and appointed liberal Justice Souter. And Pres. G.W. Bush enacted a huge new Medicare entitlement, worked with Ted Kennedy on No Child Left Behind, signed the McCain-Feingold bill infringing free speech, and supported the McCain-Kennedy immigration bill.

Santa Clause Realization... (3)
Is it too late to believe?

David vs. Goliath? Is it too late to fight for our liberty against the ultra-elite? Their puppet strings (the MSM) is doing everything to fool voters into thinking that the primary is already done… The truth is, we have a slim window of opportunity if people fight hard now.

First, you need to visit http://www.mikehuckabee.com and familiarize yourself with his stand on issues. There is a link to Mike Huckabee 101 on the site. There is also a Truth Squad that clears up misrepresentations and mischaracterizations that the MSM. Alternatively, an excellent video of his interview by the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel (from Fri. Feb. 15) here:

Next, you need to forward this message (or some version of it) to everyone you know in the states of Wisconsin and Washington who vote on Tuesday 2/19. This message must be sent not from strangers but from family and friends to family and friends. If your family/friends are Democrat they may be slightly bent but THEY WILL FORGIVE YOU. The importance of this election is far too great

Please know that there are millions of people supporting Mike Huckabee against the GOP Establishment and thousands making phone calls into Wisconsin with a message about Mike Huckabee’s stand on issues. I am one of these phone-call makers. I am also one of Mike Huckabee’s supporters.

Conservative Girl
I can not believe that I am actually reading a blog from a member of the media that "gets it."

Thank you for speaking the truth on how we got to where we are with the Republican nomination.

The "conservative" talking heads disgraced the Republican party's three legged stool by backing a lame horse candidate in Romney. The only thing you left out was the favor that Fred Thompson did for his buddy McCain by splitting the conservative vote in SC. Huckabee lost S.C. by only 7,200 votes. Fred was nothing more than a "decoy" conservative candidate set out so that people shot at the wrong target, allowing McCain to slip in a critical southern state win within a SLIM margain. Didn't those same talking heads back Fred, too? Hmmm...

I hope that listeners have now learned a lesson that these talk-show hosts are meant for pure entertainment value, not for serious decisions such as elections for President of the United States of America.

Without unity we will all lose -- II
We are the party of optimists. Rather than complaining about our slate of candidates, we should be thankful that we had so many outstanding, well qualified leaders willing to endure a primary campaign. All of the major candidates -- and many of the minor ones -- are outstanding Americans with tremendous achievements. I confess that I didn't find a single candidate who agreed with me right down the line (Sen. Thompson was closest). But I've never expected to find the "perfect" candidate.

We all know the complaints about Sen. McCain from the conservative wing of the party. But we need to accentuate the positive, which includes:

(1) He will win the war in Iraq.
(2) He will not raise taxes.
(3) He will fight to keep the Bush tax cuts permanent.
(4) He is pro-life and will veto pro-abortion legislation.
(5) He will appoint conservative Justices to the Supreme Court -- and it's two liberals (Justices Stevens and Bader-Ginsberg) who are most likely to retire.
(6) He will control government spending and veto earmarks.

It is going to be especially important to hold the White House this time, as the Democrats are likely to hold both the Senate and House.

Finally, I think that from a general election standpoint, Sen. McCain will be very well-positioned against Sen. Obama or Sen. Clinton. He will appeal to centrist, independent voters and Reagan democrats. His outstanding military service and long career of leadership in Congress will illuminate the Democrat's inexperience. I think that Iraq will continue to go well, which will hurt the Democrats badly, and no one is better positioned to capitalize on the issue than Sen. McCain.

Crying About McCain?
Gregg Jackson has exposed a real problem with in the Republican Party! The Far-Right Elites have all dawned their Ceremonial Kimono's and are ready to plunge the knife into the belly of the Party? But wait, Reasonable Republicans like Captain America see and understand that we will not save the future of the Supreme Court or America from the “Secular Humanists' by putting a Obama or another Clinton in the White House?

Then we have the usual “Republicans being Republicans” like katy the mean old lady. Who when told that the peasants are revolting, said “Yes, aren't they.” AND then there are the Quisling's in the wood pile. Liberal Democrats like: left is right-get used to it and CHAOS who work conservative websites attempting to undermine the faithful. It takes a Democrat to recognize a Democrat!

In any event, I trust that “Christian Conservatives” within the Republican Party will unite behind McCain (especially if Hucakabee is his running mate) and in the end. Along with “Reagan Democrats” (like myself) and “Independents” in the millions we will win the day for the Republicans, giving them ONE MORE CHANCE to return to the principles of the “Reagan Revolution.”
If not, then God help us!
"Uncle Mike"

I continue to hope and pray for a brokered convention, with Gov. Huckabee picking up the nomination. It's looking more and more like it will take some divine intervention to pull this off, but you never know. Still, if Sen. McCain is the nominee, I will vote for him, support him strongly, and contribute to his campaign.

I understand the frustration of many conservative Republicans. Vent all you want! But I urge you to think long and hard before splintering the Republican coalition.

McCain vs Hunter
I agree with you, Gregg. If Hugh Hewitt hadn't tried to conceal the fact that he supported Mitt Romney from the beginning, I don't believe he would have fooled as many people as he did against Duncan Hunter.

These pundits are always telling us that we don't know enough about politics, we have to listen to them. My goodness. How did we ever get a Ronald Reagan without them? *sarcasm*

Duncan Hunter was the only man who appeared anywhere and everywhere he was invited, and all the people said he was a very nice man. He was the most conservative in the race, and they couldn't understand why he couldn't get any traction. Do you think it could have something to do with the fact that they were so busy trying to push Mitt Romney down our throats? I do, and I don't like it.

Unlike most of them, I see this election as bigger than conservatives and myself. I will vote for the repukian on election day. Why? Because there are over 100,000's of our troops who we are indebted to for fighting for our liberty to do so. I cannot let them down. This is bigger than my pettiness. May God bless them all.

With Huckabee, you have McCain positive +++

Take your list:
(1) He will win the war in Iraq.
(2) He will not raise taxes.
(3) He will fight to keep the Bush tax cuts permanent.
(4) He is pro-life and will veto pro-abortion legislation.
(5) He will appoint conservative Justices to the Supreme Court -- and it's two liberals (Justices Stevens and Bader-Ginsberg) who are most likely to retire.
(6) He will control government spending and veto earmarks.

Add the following:
(1) Build the border fence
(2) Sell the Fair Tax to the people
(3) Trust to not be beholden to Washington/Wall Street GOP power brokers
(4) Make Government more transparent
(5) Support Small Business (rather than keep business requirements ultra complex which favor big business)
(6) Bring manufacturing jobs back (less taxation/regulation/litigation)
etc., etc., etc.

definition
Lose: To bring to ruin or destruction
Loose: Unbound, not confined or restricted.

voting.
I'd like to hear more about the super delegates in the Republican Party. I discovered my state, which holds its primary in June, has three super delegates who have announced their support for McCain and we haven't even voted yet. I'm tired of hearing about the need to vote and the will of the people. I believe it was President McKinley who never voted in his life and said, "Why vote? It only encourages them." I plan to vote, but it will not be either of the major parties.

Huckanomcs...
Huckabee understands that the FairTax will level the playing field with foreign competition and bring jobs back to the U.S.A.

Huckabee understands that the more transparent tax receipts will end the current smoke-and-mirrors tax advantages of America, Inc. power-brokers//privileged elite.

Huckabee understands that you don’t just give people a hand-out, you put them to work (make USA more competitive, build infrastructure while this is happening). Give a man a fish vs. teach him to fish… Bush is as bad as the Dems on this.

Implement the Fair Tax and we immediately have a disincentive for Illegal Aliens to stay. Consumption-based tax has all within our borders pay in but only citizens get the pre-bate.

If you want to see more gov’t-as-ususal elect someone who is beholden to Washington/Wall Street power-brokers. If you want to take our country back for We The People, support Huckabee.
It is extremely important that we get this to a brokered convention.

CATERWAULING ABOUT MCCAIN
It's my right, privilege and duty to caterwaul about McCain.

I never thought much of Romney, either, except that he looked good at the podium. That doesn't count for much when trying to defend a border.

Huckabee was always likable, articulate, fast-thinking, quick with intelligible responses, etc. Here I am saying "was always." He still is, but he doesn't have much of a chance to defend our borders or do anything else.

McCain has deserted me and millions like me. That's why Huckabee is still in the race -- just so that he can show McCain that McCain has a couple of shortcomings. That's why Huckabee is racking up votes. I know they won't "count" in the long run, but maybe they'll give McCain something to think about:

There are millions of us out there just clamoring -- and even caterwauling -- for some good old conservative thinking on the part of a Presidential hopeful.

McCain can say -- and mean -- "change," too. Is that too much to ask? Is it, Mr. McCain?

Snap outta it!!
This election is not about conservatives and whether they are worthwhile or not. Of course they are. As are the Evangelicals, and the moderates and, yes (gasp) the liberal Republicans. This election is about what will take place in the future - trillions of dollars in health care (where is that money); the safety of this country; cutting spending; right to life; and the Supreme Court. I don't like everything about McCain but that is also true of all the other candidates. Huck is just plain scary to me with his; "change the constitution to God's laws." That is a theocracy and we see how well that is doing around the world. In the end, there is only one choice for President. Republican and no amount of crazy will con me into not voting or voting for the deranged party. I am a Republican; I vote Republican. I will vote McCain in the primary because he is the best man for the job faults and all. It is my hope that he will be our candidate in the fall because I believe he can win.
Please take up the banner of convincing conservatives that the election is not about them or what they believe. It is about the future of this country.
Thank you for listening,

thanks
Gotcha, Conga, I appreciate you trying to clear that up. I apologize for not being clear. I was making one point based on what I have heard some say, yet as I did state above, only God knows what was in his son's heart and from what I understand this dog was a wild dog in the woods or mountains (weren't they camping?) which could have attacked or had rabies. His father did not cover up what happened, he clarified to the news the reason for it, which is that the dog was covered in mange, looked like it could attack. I myself have been attacked by a dog earlier this year, and I have been to a dog pound and saw wild dogs... pretty sad and scary. We must go by the truth and not just what media reports, and not split hairs on irrelvant issues. It has been an attempt to defame character based on an event at a boyscout camp. Huckabee, like I said, never tried to cover it up, but he did explain what he was informed by the two witnesses of what happened: the dog looked dangerous and disease-ridden. Many hunters and men have said to me, "Is that all they can get on Huckabee, they are really grasping at straws." We are from Texas, and I hate to say it, but many young teenage boys (yes even 17) have been known to be tough on animals in certain situations like self-defense. I respect your opinion and I think this is a minimal issue, even in the worst case scenario, yet I choose to even believe we should not even try to judge it. I do respect you as a person... also, Duncan Hunter endorses Huckabee!!! And, Huckabee has signed a No Amnesty pledge... he is the ONLY candidate who is advocating this and is strong on this. Huckabee is conservative and has great character!

MADDUX UNBOUND
You don't know how happy it makes me to know there is somebody out there who knows the difference between "loose" and "lose."

I'll bet Maddux know's theres no apostrophe needed in some place's but its needed at other place's. Don't you?

The poor apostrophe. Forever misunderstood. At least it's easier to learn the difference between "loose" and "lose." I'll bet it's easier to learn the difference between looser and loser, too, than to learn the intricacies of the apostrophe.

McCain won't fight the WOT
because if elected, he will immediately open the borders and allow the uneducated horde to march in, bankrupting our treasury, medical care and education systems.Illegals and terrorists alike are streaming in every day.

Make him prove he intends to "secure the border". Demand that TODAY he insist on rushing the double fence on the southern border, to seal the border by October. Make him show support for penalizing employers of illegals and tell those here to leave! We pay his senate salary; he need not wait for next year to enforce existing law.

The invasion from the south is far more urgent than Iraq thousands of miles away. This one is killing our police officers and citizens driving legally on our streets right now.

Make him prove he will act to preserve the US, NOW!

GG_AZ
writes, "Pres. Reagan raised taxes, pulled out of Lebanon, etc. ..."

Which is exactly why, in my book, Reagan is not the standard to shoot for, he is the bare minimum required to be considered for my vote.

Stan Roberts
Huckleberry's family--didn't his son bludgeon a dog to death? Who knows what ELSE that kid has done!

Gregg
I live in a state, Oklahoma, that has a large proportion of voters registered democrat. They have controlled our state capitol since statehood. The house recently went republican for the first time ever. We have a democrat governor who followed a republican one. Why do I say this? Because we are conservative.

Our U.S. House delegation has only five members (we lost one last go round)of which only one is a democrat. Both senators are republican and have lifetime ACU scores above 97. Our DEMOCRAT congressman scored a 72 in 2006, the same year McCain scored a 65.

I know a conservative when I see one. I despise smarmy under-handed attacks on someone's record. Let it speak for itself. I don't need someone to translate it for me.

I would gladly cast a ballot for:
Mitt Romney
Newt Gingrich
Jeff Flake
Jim DeMint
John Campbell
Duncan Hunter
Tom Tancredo
my current senators and congressman(Tom Coburn, James Inhofe, Tom Cole)
You get the picture
I will be writing in a candidate for POTUS or going Constitution Party, or declining to cast a ballot in that particular race if necessary.

SHUT UP ALREADY!
I love those host and have learned from them for many years! The fact is that McCain is the man we need to fight the onlsaught of the idiots on the Lib side of this I don't like all of his points but it is either McCain or obama/ billary. We need not follow the Dems view but do what is best for OUR COUNTRY! Darn it! get your heads out of your rears and back the Man!

Don't blame McCains appeal on talk radio
Sure, it talk radio who labeled John McCain a Maverick. Talk radio are the ones who got the moderates, the independents, and the weak Democrats to look upon McCain as an alternative just in case a Democrat didn't win the Presidency. Again, we know it was talk radio who persuaded McCain to reach out to the Democrats more then he did to the Republicans. As a matter of fact, McCain's appeal is so embedded in the minds of the moderates and independents, McCain is the one who constantly address them for their votes. Are the Conservatives suppose to roll over and vote for McCain, without saying how upset they have been with him. During this campaign I don't ever remember the media, in support of Mitt they way they are with McCain. You pointed out a lot of things about Mitt. Yet, the moderates and independents haven't any appeal for Mitt the way they have for McCain. That says a lot in the way people vote. Sounding the alarm is never a bad thing. Would McCain be sounding like a Republican now, had it not been for Rush, Sean, Laura, and Ann. McCain's terminology has even changed. He doesn't speak like a liberal anymore. He's even starting to attack Obama and Hillary. No! Don't blame talk radio for McCain. McCain is not giving credit to anyone for who he is. He is a self made man who made his bed so well, he's running on the character he's become in the minds of the moderates and independents.

LISTEN UP, Jackson
The "media elite" are FOLLOWING the conservatives, not leading us.

Rent a clue; Romney was no true conservative's first choice. He was the last compromise any of us could make.

Maybe the talk radio people were promoting Romney from the git-go.

"Yet Ann Coulter, who was quick to accuse GOP primary voters in Iowa and New Hampshire who refused to vote for her cutie-pie Romney of "not doing their homework," ignored Romney's entire far left wing record and declared Romney to be "manifestly our best candidate?" What was that about "homework", Ann?"

WHEN did Ann Coulter say this?

Was it, perhaps, AFTER Hunter, Thompson and Tancredo were out of the race? Did either of the only two conservative candidates EVER stand a chance in this race?

Rent another clue: Romney supported McCain-Feingold and McCain-Kennedy? And just how does this make him WORSE that the guy whose NAME IS ON THE LEGISLATION.

Listen, Jackson, and the rest of you testicularly-challenged Republican liberals:

I am a conservative. I will vote for whoever I darn well choose. You don't own me and I owe you two things: Jack and Shjt.

YOU owe ME. Election after election I've compromised and settled on the lesser of however many evils, even when that was Romney. And you bastids still want to appease the enemy, the socialist-liberal-communist Democrats. NO MORE.

Fight the Future
"We've made too many compromises already; too many retreats. They invade our space and we fall back. They assimilate entire worlds and we fall back. Not again. The line must be drawn here! This far, no further! And *I* will make them pay for what they've done. " Captain Jean Luc Picard, "Star Drek: First Contract".

"We've made too many compromises already; too many retreats. They invade our party, and we fall back. They promote despotic liberal candidates and we fall back. Not again. The line must be drawn here! This far, no further! And *I* will make them PAY for what they've done to my country!" - Me, here and now.

Promote staunchly conservative Republicans in this election, and hope for a real conservative to vote for President in 2012. Or hope that the country finally collapses and we can start over.

Gino the parrot
"The fact is that McCain is the man we need to fight the onlsaught of the idiots on the Lib side of this "

How many times have I heard this drivel from different poster handles?

Gino....

McCain IS one of the idiots on the Lib side of this!!

McCain
The power brokers wanted McCain and got him. Promises were undoubtedly made to Mitt to get his twofaced ship jumping and endorcement of McCain.

If he wins, I doubt it, McCain is a one term worm. Guess is Romney has promises for the next election.

Jackson , wrong about Huckabee
"We could have had an authentic conservative Mike Huckabee as our nominee. "

Pro-illegal alien does not equal conservative.

Letting criminals out so they can rape and murder some more does not equal conservative.

Huckabee is a snide little Jerry Falwell wannabe.

I said, months ago, Hunter, Tacredo or Hillary. Those are my three choices. The choice was made for me.

Thank you
Thank you for being a clear voice, Gregg!
Why isn't this article on the front page with all the I love McCain (even though I don't like the things he stands for) articles?

the jdw political spectrum
To make future discussions simpler, here's my political spectrum:

Left - pro amnesty. pro "guest worker program". pro "path to citizenship". pro "seal the border and then get on with the rest of it."

Moderate (center) - Seal the border with a fence or something and encourage illegals to self-deport.

Right - Seal the border so they can't escape, then execute the illegals in the country and anyone caught employing or harboring them.

The "Right" is just a little bit to the right of me.

McCain is Left-wing on my scale. As is Romney, Huckabee, Clinton and Obama. Hunter is moderate, and Tancredo is just right-of-center.

Why indeed?
"Why isn't this article on the front page with all the I love McCain (even though I don't like the things he stands for) articles?"

I'm guessing...

they want to keep their readership?

Or are you liberal snots planning on taking over TH like you've taken over the Republican party?

McCain
Thinking McCain's candidacy was dead, many people did not work against him when there was a chance to stop him.Big mistake. He is what we have and most will support him.He must however,do and say more to clarify his stand on amnesty.I still have not heard anything definite, except he says he will "close the borders".I do not believe he is serious. There are many fences he must mend if he wants the support of conservatives. So many times he not only worked against his party, but relished it.He made many enemies and caused hard feelings. Most will,in the end, though, vote for him.I believe many moderates and Independents will support him in the fall, also. He is a tough man and can win over either Democrat,I believe.I hope he can win conservatives over in the next few months,so he will get their votes.I will cross my fingers and vote for him and hope for the best or else the Republican Party,as we know it, will die.

Ego-driven Talkshow Hosts
are not worth discussing. Reasoable Republicans can do what voters did during the primaries - IGNORE THESE CHILDISH PAID MOUTH PIECES!

Rowly - McCain is the
undead Presidential Candidate? I like it.

I can see the movie trailer now.

Zombie McCain... No matter what you do, the Frankenstein party will continue to revive this walking corpse full of liberal corruption and diseased ideals.

Sarah -
" Reasoable Republicans can do what voters did during the primaries - IGNORE THESE CHILDISH PAID MOUTH PIECES!"

So now yo have to be a liberal to be considered "reasonable"?

And why inability to admit the mistake?
Those talking heads made a mistake, I just don't understand why they persist in it, when it's not too late--almost, but still not yet--to do the right thing, a fair look at Huckabee. Still holding out for a brokered convention. I can't support McCain, period.

Robert
McCain is not a lot of things.

Among them:
He is not a conservative.
He is not trustworthy.
He is not a conservative.
He is not mentally stable.
He is not a conservative.
He is not a uniter.
He is not a conservative.
He is not honest.
He is not a conservative.

I'm an Independent, voting Republican for over 30 years, I'm not ready to concede to McCain.
I want answers as to why Juan smirking Jack
Hernandez is anywhere near this campaign, and why
is the owner of Univision if McCain has heard
the message from the American people.
Having said that, I'm giving a lot of thought as to what is best for the troops. They should be
a priority with Conservatives and I realize
they are but we need to think clearly, not just out of rage as to what's the best plan of action.
At this point I'm not ready to pull the lever
for McC. I want to see who the veep would be because given his broken body, health and
raging personality he may not last in a job that's aged healthier and younger men. I'm doing a lot of talking and praying to the Lord.
Of the two demonRats, Obama scares me the most and so does his happy, cheerful, smiling wife.
it's so special now that she's finally proud of her country, eeuw, isn't that enough to gag a maggot.

McCain
jdw......the sentence reads as follows...read carefully, now. It is evident you have a problem...
"Thinking McCain's candidacy was dead" I said his "candidacy".The subject of the sentence is "candidacy".Not the man. Therefore,I did not say McCain was dead. Now,is it still funny? Do you still like it? I can see it now,you watching for a movie trailer of a dead man. Now,that's funny.Go to bed and sleep it off.You obviously have been hittin' the bottle.

Rowly, save it
If you read what I said, it relates to his unkillable political campaign, not his current physical state.

I haven't been hitting the bottle, but you evidently do need to rewrite you parser.

Jackson you don't get it...
The reason Rush and the rest say that McCain will ruin the Republican party is because he has and will continue to. Conservatives like me will not vote for him, but if we would it would hand over the party to the left.

I have nothing in common with McCain and increasingly have been finding more and more problems with all levels of the party. McCain will not be on my ballot in November no matter who is the Democrat's choice as it really doesn't much matter - he is one.

McCain
jdw...............
Admit your mistake or let it rest...you said"undead presidential candidate".Candidate refers to the "person".Candidacy refers to "what he is.Again,I said ,"thinking his candidacy was dead".No mention of HIS demise. If you did not act so arrogant,I would have ignored it.By the way,my "parser"is fine, how's yours?

I'm With JDW
No way could I vote for McCain. He's for amnesty for illegal aliens and the NAU. I don't care what happens to the Republican party. To paraphrase Reagan--the Republican party left me.

You don't seem to complain that others are using dirty tactics here, rather that they are doing them to someone you like. Your column is filled with animus and indignation that match the "conservative elites." (However, the "elites, being far more talented, write in a far more persuasive matter.)

Your boilerplate responses about Romney are almost entirely distorted. About the one credible one was the bad health plan Romney passed.

If ur gonna write something condeming whining, put the pacifier back in your mouth so you don't do the same.

No Conservative or The term I Actually
Prefer of Classical Liberal, could vote for John McCain.

When you consider what he has done to us politically, the damage he willingly caused us and the cause, of not only conservatism and original principles but also the value of the individual citizen and the diminished power of that individual, you cannot ignore it.

Others may do as they wish but I will not cast my vote for this man, no matter the consequences. We have been out maneuvered by traitorous persons within our party and we now know this.

It has been suggested here that we need to leave but I have a better idea, involving bodies flying through plate glass windows followed by a necktie parties in the street.

You may have control of one party but you don't control this one yet!

As for watching our "six" as we leave, we do that habitually with people like you around.

But I do have a suggestion for you as you leave our party. DON'T, bother to check your "six," just RUN as fast as you can. There will be no forgiveness this time...

Hey LJ, think about this
Just the fact that Wobbie the pretend Republican, who's really pulling for HELLary, wants "people like us "OUT" "GONE" AWAY from my party" is all the more reason for us to stay in the party. Not that I'd leave it to begin with.

The REAL reason that Wobbie wants "far right nuts," meaning Conservatives, "OUT" "GONE" AWAY from my party" is because he's knows that McCain CAN'T WIN WITHOUT US, and he's scared to death that enough of us will hold our noses and vote for McCain that he'll beat Wobbies girl like a drum in November.

[I say "Original" McBFFL 7, because Greggness' is Post McInski Day. Many others, especially
