If Berlin Can't Close the Deal, What Will?

Do you feel the leaked information from a global warming alarmist organization is meaningful?

WASHINGTON -- As the presidential candidates enter the three-month sprint to November, Barack Obama must be wondering: If that did not do it, what will? The antecedent of the pronoun "that" is his Berlin speech. The antecedent of the pronoun "it" is assuage anxieties about his understanding of the need to supplement soft power (diplomacy) with hard power (military force).

He spoke in Berlin at the bullet-scarred base -- it was in the crossfire 63 years ago as Russian troops neared Hitler's bunker about a mile away -- of an 1873 monument to German militarism. To be precise, the monument celebrates the Franco-Prussian War and lesser triumphs of the militarism that would help ruin the next century.

Anyway, at that monument Obama exhorted Germans -- does the candidate of "change" appreciate how much beneficent change made this exhortation necessary? -- to be more willing to wage war, in Afghanistan. He was right to do so.

But polls taken since his trip abroad do not indicate that Obama succeeded in altering the oddest aspect of this presidential campaign: Measured against his party's surging strength in every region and at every level, he is dramatically underperforming. Surely this fact is related to anxieties about his thin resume regarding national security matters, the thinnest of any major party nominee since Wendell Wilkie's in 1940. But the fact also might be related to fatigue from too much of Obama's eloquence, which is beginning to sound formulaic and perfunctory.

Even an eloquent politician can become, as Benjamin Disraeli described William Gladstone, "a sophistical rhetorician inebriated with the exuberance of his own verbosity." John Kennedy said in Berlin, "Freedom is indivisible, and when one man is enslaved, all are not free." That half-baked and badly written thought was either trivial because it was tautological (when one man is enslaved, not every man is free) or it was absurd (when one man is not free, no man is free). That absurdity is dangerous because it makes a grandiose mission seem imperative, as in President George W. Bush's second inaugural address: "The survival of liberty in our land increasingly depends on the success of liberty in other lands."

Does Obama have the sort of adviser a candidate most needs -- someone sufficiently unenthralled to tell him when he has worked one pedal on the organ too much? If so, Obama should be told: Enough, already, with the we-are-who-we-have-been-waiting-for rhetorical cotton candy that elevates narcissism to a political philosophy.

And no more locutions such as "citizen of the world" and "global citizenship." If they meant anything in Berlin, they meant that Obama wanted Berliners to know that he is proudly cosmopolitan. Cosmopolitanism is not, however, a political asset for American presidential candidates. Least of all is it an asset for Obama, one of whose urgent needs is to seem comfortable with America's vibrant and very un-European patriotism, which is grounded in a sense of virtuous exceptionalism. At last a premier master of verbosity. .

I doubt if Bro O can speak of lesser platitudes, however he does support the Rappers, which is going to bite him worse that Rev Wright.

Word Salad
This article is pure gibberish. Is Will having some kind of mental breakdown?

no substance
There was no substance in his famous convention speech. No substance since, because there just isn't any. They only reason the dems gushed over him was because he is black and can speak english. The rest of the country really doesn't think that stupid is a qualification for President and he is going to continue to fall in the polls and be smashed in the election. All McCain has to do is sit back and debate the moron.

Bob
Apparently, you are a little short in the vocabulary dept. Maybe you need to bone up on reading skills. Gibberish?? Ridiculous! The article is excellent and points well-made...Obama is an illusion which has become a bore.

Speaking of gibberish

==========

No, anyone who does not understand the article has had a gibberish breakdown, and a mind that doesn't understand the English language.

If we are Lucky?
On another thread I posted the statement that Obama is his own worst enemy.

I have been praying for God to let the Obamanation have "motormouth." And, the more he hears his own voice, the more he talks. Please, Mr Marxist, black theology, one world loving, Uber Liberal, keep on keeping on.

I work in a room with almost 400 folks and probably 1/3 are black. Several of the Christian black ladies at work have told me they are not voting for Obama. They may stay home but Goofy will not get their vote just because he is black.

I believe there is light at the end of the tunnel. If not, then I am sorry George but I sincerely believe that idiot will still want to talk to the Iranian nutjob after we have been nuked.

God help America.

He Has Risen But WIll He Fall?
Yes, Obama has risen but will he fall? That is the question. If every American sees the light shining down upon them and they see Obama appearing in the heavens then we will know that he is the one, but until that moment comes to pass, I do believe that his will to be president may come undone because what goes up must come down - like an inflated ego similar to a helium balloon rising to the top that is about to burst, I do fear.

Apologies
I am sorry, but one more thing.

If I were John McCain I would spend millions on replaying "57 States" That moron is supposed to be a graduate of Harvard Law. And I begin to wonder who actually was editor of the Law Review.

"57 STATES!!!!"

LMAO Let him talk John.

At what point do we take a realistic look at this Narcissistic Character?

To Barack Obama: We, is Me. 'We' are merely part of his omnipotent fantasy (fairy-tale according to Billy).

Barack, according to Barack, is God Almighty. His superficial charm, doped up personality, inability to understand humor, are all signs. Signs of a Personality disorder. Signs of a Malignancy.

The 'Real' Barack is hidden. Hidden behind a shiny veneer.

And that 'Real' Barack I know all too well. That bitter and envious monster pulling the strings on this plastic and contrived personality.

What a Hoax!

Reciting a history lesson
is not giving a speech. A (redundant) history lesson is what our illustrious Presidential candidate gave in front of thousands of semi-drunk rock concert attendees. He didn't tell them anything they couldn't have explained better than he. What would we think of a German Presidential candidate coming to America, standing in front of one of our cherished icons and giving us an American history lesson (an in German, no less)? Well, yes, that's what many of the Germans thought: "where did this come from?"

Not gibberish but several holes
Will is not gibberish, but is easily challenged on a few points. He cites Obama's "thin resume regarding national security matters, the thinnest of any major party nominee since Wendell Wilkie's in 1940." He have forgotten 3 of the last 4 presidents with less: Reagan, Clinton and W.

As for "citizen of the world", it's used in Obama's speech as a signal to the international community that we will once again value diplomacy and cooperation.

Unfortunately Will may be correct about voters' clinging to "American exceptionalism", but that hackneyed term needs defining for a new generation that doesn't merely equate it with American arrogance.

The bottom line
Uh, Germans and folks in many other countries show Obama polling 2-1 over McCain because they've been following very closely this contest. Most people have had enough of neocon nonsense. They WANT to like American again, like they used to. That's the bottom line.

I Am Worried That Obama Is Even In There
August 3, 2008

George:
Thank you for offering your readers another forcefully historical and brilliantly crafted commentary, this time concerning and I believe which will evolve into a rather regrettable conclusion. Under normal and perhaps unchanging political circumstances, John McCain will be what I predict a significant winner in November. I must digress for a moment to my remembrance many years ago of Leon Spinx, a so-called "tomato can", fight parlance for a journeyman pugilist, climbed into the ring with Ali and whipped him. There was not one odds maker or fan anywhere in the world that predicted that one. The flip flop on oil drilling by Obama was something that disturbed me more than all the events in his life and all the offensive or confusing statements that he made on the stump added to his sluggish and nondescript behavior in the Senate and his numerous dispositions on wars and countries he had not visited in years. Energy policy, if handled incompetently could conceivably propell this country into an inescapable depression. Meanwhile, Obama gleefully informed the American people of his plans to conduct major renovations in the White House including paved basketball courts so that he may continue refining his three pointer. I heard that many more people are suffering from the Aids virus in America than we thought, people cannot pay their bills. If he is in the ring, he may win.

People Rule, if they Will
I suspect that an Obama presidency presents a clear and present danger of the end of the Democratic Party. Putting Obama’s policies into effect will surely ensure that the economy he presides over starts to perform exactly like Mugabe’s in Zimbabwe.

However, Like Clinton, and indeed Bush to a lesser extent, neither Obama nor his party will be in charge, but rather the Feds and the Treasury chief. Thank God.

Isn’t it better that our corrupt congress and the president take orders from the Treasury and the Feds than the other way around. The Feds and the Treasury write the script for the president and congress to follow.

What we do know is that congress and the president, the Feds and the Treasury, and whoever their paymaster are, in the end must respond to changes in how we the people behave, and sometimes in how a very minor number of the population behaves. It is our will against theirs.

Congress has 10% -15% popularity ratings, a clear indication that elections must somehow, absolutely be rigged, that voters in every district are cherry picked, salted, and deluded.

Subprime will close the deal
Obama's grandstanding in Berlin won't win American votes. His campaigning in the panhandle of Florida is paying huge dividends. People losing their houses are likely to vote for Barack.

Royinoslo
"They WANT to like American again, like they used to"
When was that? Pray tell.

"We are who wev'e been waiting for?"
I am sure this "Obamanation" can't pass a mirror without admiring the view. Now that his "grand tour" has fallen flat, what will he promise next or flip-flop another position.

The Rickety Grandstand
Bob Munck of VA, Reply #19 .... Like so many who can't abide the truth, even when it is clearly stated, your criticism falls flat because you fail to make any point. And ... attacking the writer (Mr. Will) is so juvenile.
On to the Berlin speech. The camera views were wonderful! But then, we would expect that from the adoring media that accompanied the senator. It amuses me (though it's not funny), that Mr. BHO went to Europe and met with heads of state within a week of his utterly demeaning remark about Americans not speaking a foreign language. He, I noted, did not even attempt to. There are so many layers of polished veneer covering this candidate, I wonder what really lies beneath it all? I like his rhetoric and oratory - too bad there is no substance in his words. Anyone can spout, "every person should have .... is entitled to .... " and "this country must return to its root ..." Well, where will funding come from to grant every person what he/she deserves and whose roots is the senator proposing to revive?
Like houses built on sand, Mr BHO has a Rickety Grandstand as a platform.

Royinoslo
Whoa, Roy! You say that "the bottom line" is how America is perceived by Europe? You've got the same virus as Obama and all his euro-phile friends. You must have eaten a tainted fishball up there in Minnesota. You're darn-tootin'.

I love Obama's hypocrisy- he chides Americans for not speaking a second language and within two weeks of that finger-wag is giving a speech in English in Berlin, Germany. Ha!

Apologies
Harold:

Obama may not be stupid regarding the number of states. There are 57 Muslim states represented by the Organization of the Islamic Conference. Not very comforting!

Berliners, Socialists, & Obama Epiphany
A new Internet blog, titled "Obama Messiah Blogspot," http://www.obamamessiah.blogspot.com/ asks the question "Is Obama the Messiah?

A quote is provided from a speech Barack Hussein Obama gave in Lebanon, New Hampshire, in January 2008:

"A light will shine through that window, a beam of light will come down upon you, you will experience an Epiphany...and you will suddenly realize that you must go to the polls and vote for Obama."

It seems that the many fanatical Obamamaniac liberals and "homo/abortion-loving sycophants & Hollywood-types that make up the Democrat Party base, received theirs almost instantaneously.

Now it seems, some erstwhile members of the Republican Party are finding theirs.

However, I have, as yet, seen neither that shining light nor has its beam shone upon my unbelieving countenance...

I guess some of us are just "doomed" to remain in the ranks of the "unbelievers."

BHO
BHO,please go away, I can't take anymore of you !

Obama boring?
It is difficult for a person with Obama's upbringing to have firm ties to any one place or even country. His roots lie in the movement which furnished him, finally, an identity - radical socialism. To find him boring is to underestimate the danger he represents. He is only marginally less of a threat than the Clintons.

National Socialist Democrats=neo-Nazis
"What's happening now in America is a life and death struggle between the American people and the literal neo-Nazis."--this from impeachbush on another TH thread.

I couldn't agree with him more.
We have a candidate of a party running for President who would seize the profits of companies & their shareholders upon which our nation's economy was built.
We are being "served" by a dictatorial Congress of this same party that thumbs its nose at & refuses to give either ear or voice to the very people who elected them and pay their salaries. Taxation, without representation.
This same illegal Congress has every intention to kill the 1st Amendment to the Constitution and, thus silence any broadcast opposition to its policies.
This same Congress intends to disarm American citizens, while passing legislation to criminalize speech that insults Islamic jihadists within our own borders.
We have a national news media that is the propaganda arm of this one party and campaigns openly for & abets its dominance.
We have masses of people that flock to support & chant its would-be Fuher's every pronouncement, in numbers that ol' Adolph himself would have killed even more Jewish babies to have.
We have scientists who promote the innocent abortion of human fetuses and desire laws to be passed making it legal to perform experiments on their carcasses.
We are told by this party what we can or cannot eat and Congressmen tell restaurants what they can sell.
Yes Mr. impeachbush, what's happening now in America IS a life and death struggle between the American people and the literal neo-Nazis, and it's led by the same types of National Socialists that gave birth to the Third Reich: The Democrat National Socialist Party of America.
...led by Harry Reid and Nancy Pelosi.
And if this party has its way in November...Der Fuher Barack Hussein Obama.

Exceptional article by George Will
Obama's compulsion toward being a global citizen manifests itself in his remarks recently to the effect that peoples of the world may not be okay with decisions Americans make(purchase of evil suvs, temperature settings on our thermostats).

What business is it of Obama to grant the world's peoples some input into the decisions Americans make?

There is some perverted, noxious assumption inherent in JFK, G.W. Bush, and Obama, about our nation having some global citizenship responsibility.

That is insulting.

Will's outstanding insight in drawing a comparision between JFK's idiotic remark that "freedom is indivisible and that when one man is enslaved, all are not free", and G.W. Bush's equally stupid comment that "the survival of liberty in our land increasingly depends upon the success of liberty in other lands", is a fine piece of analysis.

And both JFK's and Bush's remarks dovetail quite nicely into Obama's equally moronic notions about global citizenship.

We have no global citizenship mission to meddle in the affairs of others, foisting freedom upon the peoples of the world, just as the peoples of the world have no right to meddle in our affairs, deciding what is proper for us to purchase, etc.

And only supreme arrogance would counsel otherwise.

To Bob Munck
I hear you. This piece was hard for me to get a handle on. I can only speak for myself, but my problem wasn't with the vocabulary. It was the sentence structure that had me going. Too many thoughts within thoughts.

Royinosio, mymanjones, bob munck
Roynosio, you cite Obalmy's 2-1 popularity in Germany and Europe, as if that supported his candidacy. If I were McCain's team, i would publish that poll. Europe is not our friend; whoever our not-friend wants to be our president, would by definition be not-good for us. They want what would be best for them=Obama; we should want someone best for us=McCain.

Bob Munck, what's the matter with you, not enjoying or understanding his prose? Do you want all monosyllables, like his name and yours?

MyManJones: you said you hope Will is on the mend? From what? I hadn't heard.

Jerabaub, I think all this citizen
of the world crap began with the demoncrat Woodrow Wilson, although the beginning of our empire/overreach was with the republican McKinley and the Spanish American War.

Will's article was 99% about the vapidity of Obalmy; nice of you to slide in sideways a critique of GWBush (which happens to be on target.) Have a beautiful day.

Bob Mook (#2) writes: "This article is

pure gibberish."

What, too complicated for you?

Look Out !
May God save us from self-righteous militants with a "mission" who want to "remake" the world and create "the new man" . . . and who inevitably increase the power of the nanny-state over the individual citizen's life in the process.

Joseph
Thanks.

Joseph: Whoa! There ARE 57 Muslim states
represented by the Organization of the Islamic Conference."

I never made the connection...??? Good call!!!

In fact, when Marxist Obama made that "57 states" statement I couldn't figure out why "57"... it didn't equate to anything I could come up with...

Having read just parts of Cori's book so far, I think this is going to prove MORE than just a little significant!

Anne
I'm reading it too, if I can ever get off these posts!!

Just starting on Chapter 2. I think I'm going to learn a lot of the Obamessiah, some of which I can use here to further expose him for the Marxist that he is.

the mystical # 57; I thought it
was a covert reference to the 57 varieties of Heinz ketchup, that he was either trying to channel the defunct John/Theresa Heinz Kerry campaign, OR, that Obalmy is actually smitten with the ultra-rich Theresa Heinz, and wants to start an affair with her.

Good morning Anne, Joseph, oncealways
amarine. You've said all i could say. Nice to read your stuff.

Keep talking, funny man
That's one of my favorite lines from Everybody Loves Raymond. Well, I agree with the poster above. McCain should just let Oblahma just keep on talking (he couldn't stop if he wanted to because he just "knows so much that is not so" and needs to share his insight with us). The more he talks, the more people get buyer's remorse. The more he talks, the more he reveals his real agenda. The liberals usually are very good at hiding their real intentions. He's not. Ah, the truth will set us free. Free from Nobama.

OncealwaysaMarine: First of all...

I want to tell you that I read and follow your posts as much as I can. I am very impressed by your insight and wisdom, and I've learned a LOT from your posts. Thank you. Keep it up! :-)

"... further expose him for the Marxist that he is."

And the added little side benefit is that it will make the trolls ca-razy! (Like a two-fer!)

I've been posting for months that Obama is a Marxist/Communist... perfectly obvious for anyone who has actually listened to what he's said, and has even a modicum of knowledge about what Marxism and Communism really is!

The only question about that is whether or not he's "card carrying" or not.

I'm also thinking that Corsi's book will expose him to having MUCH closer ties to the Muslim community than Obama is letting on, and Joseph's mention of the "57" Muslim states in the Organization of the Islamic Conference....

I'm just sayin'

Pistol
It's nice to know that there are allies like you, Joseph, Anne, Apollo Speaks, and so many others too numerous to mention, who have enough sense to add their opinions and words to resist the evil that is being foisted upon our nation by these would-be political usurpers of our Constitution.

WE WON'T BE SILENCED

...nor defeated.

OBAMA SOCIALISM
Obama’s mentor, Frank Marshall Davis (deceased), member of the Communist Party USA taught Obama the merits of communism. Obama refers to him as Frank in his book "Dreams From My Father."
http://obamareport.blogspot.com/2008/04/barack-obamas-commu nist-mentor-frank.html

Obama wants to tax the wealthiest to the poorest in order to finance his socialist ideas. Raising taxes and blatant socialism is Obama’s “change”. Obama was tutored by socialists in college. Obama, wife Michelle and his children was ministered to by a preacher who spewed an anti-white America, anti-Israel for 20 years. http://www.gopusa.com/commentary/ckincaid/2008/ck_02191.sh tml

Obama asks, "Are we willing to make the investments in genuine, equal opportunity in this country?" Obama says, "People [black] aren't looking for charity. We talk about welfare and we talk about poverty, but what people really want is fairness. They want people paying their fair share of taxes. They want that money allocated fairly."

Obama wants to tip a glass of rum and smoke a good Cuban cigar with Raul, Fidel, Hugo and the other Latin American despots to discuss the merits of socialism and commerce.
Obama wants to have tea with Ahmadinejad and Assad and socialize with Osama, Hamas, Hezbollah, Fatah and all the Jihadists and swap some ideas on religions.

Europe
Anyone that thinks they like us was sleeping during history class. The Europeans consider us the unwashed and rabble rousers that left 300 to 1 year ago.

Obama & Frank Marshall Davis
The author of a news article today on TH writes: "While [Frank Marshall] Davis' leftist politics could allow the candidates [Barack Hussein Obama] critics to group Davis with Obama friends and acquaintances with anti-American views, those who knew Davis and his work say his activism was aimed squarely at social injustice."

Feel better now?

Even if one were to buy into the premise of this puff-piece, there is a preponderance of evidence which suggests that ALL of Mr.Obama's friends and acquaintances have little or nothing they can identify about America that they DON'T perceive as unjust. Nor does it seem that there is anything about America that His Husseiness DOESN'T want to CHANGE.

CHANGE our Presidential Seal.

CHANGE our currency (to include Obama's glowing countenance).

CHANGE our military (to one in which gays can proudly profess their gayness).

CHANGE our taxing system (to one where Obama can redistribute corporation "excess" profits into the pockets of the proliteriate).

CHANGE from a Democratic Representative Republic (to a Marxist/Socialist one party dictatorship).

If as, John Edgar Tidwell, the University of Kansas professor who declined to be interviewed for this piece, believes, "He made his vision into a beacon, a light shedding understanding and enlightenment on the problems that denied people, regardless of race, national origin or economic status, their constitutional rights,"
I wonder why it is that Mr. Obama, himself, couldn't bring himself to let that same light shed some understanding on his relationship with Davis in the first place, rather than engaging in his rather cryptic attempt to deny us the knowledge of his relationship with such a fine and sensitive fellow?

OncealwaysaMarine
Your kind words are appreciated, so are you and the millions like you who are out there, but not so articulate. In addition, the just plain smarts of the military types posting here is reassuring. Loyal Democrat nears genius. There have been several really bright men, both officers and enlisted, posting. Some still here, others i have not seen for a while. You have lots and lots of staunch women and men beside you, glad you are beside them.

Joseph
The naughty corner is not so bad. Anne spends most of her time there, so you're never lonely.

OncealwaysaMarine:Thanks. I'm afraid NOT

to speak out... at least as long as we can!

I don't know if people realize just what ELSE will happen should Marxist Obama get elected.

Two words, "Fairness Doctrine!"

The dems not only want to control talk radio, but if that "Fairness Doctrine" ever gets passed, it will severely impact grass roots sites such as TH (and others such as HumanEvents and NumbersUSA, etc) and we'll no longer have a forum(s) to speak out.

If we don't do it now, we may very well lose that freedom.

"Obama The Patriot-Removes American Flag

From His Plane"

Verified on Snopes.com True!

http://www.snopes.com/politics/obama/airplane.asp

"Barack Obama recently finished a $500,000 total overhaul of his 757. And as part of the new design, he decided to remove the American flag from the tail...

"What American running for President of the United States would remove the symbol of his country? And worse, he replaced the flag with it with a symbol of himself..."

Now, stop and think about the Marxist/Communist countries... Were they not adorned with many statues of their "leaders?" Wonder if Marxist Obama is trying to get a "head start?" He's already behaving as though he IS president.

Americans are not Europeans
America has become what it has always been by NOT doing what other people insist they must do. From refusing to *go metric* to spurning the $1 coin, to not signing on to Kyoto or Socialist Medicine, America has stood for the important axiom that making individual decisions is the lifeblood of a country.

The vast majority of Americans (typified by the universal response to the $1 coin as *that [bleeping] yella thing*) understand that whatever the Europeans urge us to accept will be death for America.

The more the enemies and the envious tout Obama, the lower his chances sink.

That is the historical axiom of America.

AudiR10
Amen...

There ought to be a list circulated far and wide of Obama supporters - from Hamas & Hezbollah - to "enlightened" Europeans - to Code Pink.

Maybe Osama bin Laden will throw his support to Obama via video in October. It sure helped John Kerry four years ago.

Obama's plane, Anne,
took off the prominent flag design for it was a part of the airline logo from which his campaign rented or leased it. (Also from Snopes.com).

willy V: But he didn't replace it

with an American flag not part of the airline logo.. did he?

That's what I thought...

Post coital regrets
This Berlin speech was the straw that broke the camel's back for me. The point was finally driven home..."where's the beef"? I've been listening for 18 months to Obama's flowery rhetoric and have finally come to the realization that it's just empty talk.

I also think a lot of people on the Left are coming to this realization too. The post coital afterglow is fading and they're finally asking "how the hell did I wind up in bed with this blowhard"?

Getting back to the column...

I think "Berlin" was just one step toward "closing the deal," but not the way Marxist Obama hopes!

Morris has a good column about McCain's campaign strategy, or lack thereof. While Marxist Obama seems to be doing a pretty good job of closing himself out, I'm all for giving him ALL the help he needs!

Anne, OnceAlwaysUSMC,
Of course, I agree with everything that you post here about Obomination being a Marxist, but I do hope you post them on liberal sites too, because putting them on TH is pretty much preaching to the choir, no? Except for a few leftist interlopers...

A little traveling music
for Obama's European Campaign

OBAMA’S THE ONE
(sung to the tune of "ONE" from A Chorus Line)

ONE singular sensation every little TRIP he takes.
ONE thrilling combination every SPEECH that he makes.

ONE CHANGE and suddenly nobody else will do;
You know you'll never be HOPEless with you know who.

ONE moment in his presence and you can forget the rest.
For the guy is second best to none, Son.

Ooooh! Sigh! Give him your attention.
Do...I...really have to mention?

He's OBAMA!!!

JohnR22 #57 : "The point was finally
driven home..."

I do hope that your response is typical and Marxist Obama's Berlin speech was the last straw for many, many more Americans.

Berlin the perfect spot
for the first great National Socialist leader in over 60 years

Sig Hiel, Barak!

Joseph
Good point!

McCain may have just found his message
"...Wise voters -- polls might be telling us that there are more of them than Obama imagines -- hanker for candidates whose principal promise is that they will do their best to muddle through without breaking too much crockery. "

McCain has muddled along trying to find a message for hid campaign - Georhe just gave it to him.

Only thing I would like to point out is that "wise" should read "conservative" when facing a nation that is confronting longterm decline and deterioration. In essence, if McCain were Captain of the Titanic he would shave a few knots off or if Custer he would take a few more soldiers. No, the nation needs to alter course and restore its greatness John McCain doesn't offer that; Obama does.

Obama will have to prove...
he is eligible in every state that he is qualified to be POTUS!
Read this shocking article.

Joseph: "... post them on liberal sites

too...."

Good idea except those liberal sites, you know, the "bastions of inclusion???" would rip down our posts before we'd leave the site.

"... putting them on TH is pretty much preaching to the choir, no?"

Would seem so, but there really are a LOT "readers" who don't have accounts and don't post, in addition to the leftist interlopers.

In fact, I've read numerous posts from folks who said they've been reading posts on TH long before they decided to create an account, and it was reading the Conservative posts that made them understand just what propaganda was being pushed by the left.

All is not lost.

The Real Big O
Empty suit...empty rhetoric...Marxist ideas. More and more Americans are beginning to see how empty and dangerous The Messiah is.

I ONLY HOPE AND PRAY...
...that Mr. Will has not - as other conservative authors have - fallen prey to overconfidence in Republican victory in November.

How else to understand such authors' ADVICE to the The Obamboozler HOW TO IMPROVE HIS CAMPAIGN:

Will writes, "Does Obama have the sort of adviser a candidate most needs -- someone sufficiently unenthralled to tell him when he has worked one pedal on the organ too much? If so, Obama should be told: Enough, already, with the we-are-who-we-have-been-waiting-for rhetorical cotton candy that elevates narcissism to a political philosophy."

"And no more locutions such as "citizen of the world" and "global citizenship."

WHAT ON EARTH ARE SUCH WRITERS THINKING?!!? That a sock-puppet neophyte with near-bottomless financial funding cannot muster the means to modify his stance or delivery style?! HUBRIS ALERT!

LET this moron - not yet even the post-convention "official" candidate of his party - make all the errors he can!

There is NOTHING positive to be gained by such remarks. To the contrary, these words tend to suggest a dangerous level of the unhealthy side of self-contentment/satisfaction WELL before an election.

For your edification, I posted the below on Zito's thread and KNEW you'd enjoy it:

There is an old axiom that goes something like this:

"When your opponent is making a fool of himself - don't interrupt."

It is clearly evident - after all the swooning media hype about Barack's summer presidential internship world tour - that the electorate is quickly tiring of the messianic act.

Obama has "misunderestimated" the backlash most Americans have whenever a so-called "leader" goes abroad and essentially "apologizes" for our imperfections.

Obama should be polling at 60 to 70% - but has never cracked the magical 50% number.

And he's fading fast...

Barack is unelectable.
-----

P.S. Hal. The gyrations you are having to resort to paint Obama as a superior choice to McCain is below even your dignity. You KNOW this guy is nothing but rhetoric.

Be a "maverick", Hal. Start a "Dump Obama" movement within your party to give the ONLY electable Dem the nod - your gal, Hillary.

Royinoslo will never get it
He is unaware that the European mindset and the American mindset are not the same thing. Expecting someone who has an opposing political outlook to like you means someone has some over to the other's side.

Roy, stay in Oslo. Europeans don't get to vote in our elections.

Hey doofus: Primus is absolutely right!

Why would we want to stop Marxist Obama from making a fool of himself and showing the nation just who and what he is.

But here's a suggestion. You might want to contact Marxist Obama and let him know what a recession is, and that not only are we NOT in a recession, we're not even close to one....

So just to show you how nice I really am, I'll help you out.

A recession is "TWO CONSECUTIVE QUARTERS OF NEGATIVE GROWTH."

That means two quarters, one RIGHT AFTER THE OTHER, and NEGATIVE... not just NO GROWTH, it has to be NEGATIVE!

FYI, the last quarter, our GDP was + 1.9%.

How embarrassing it must be to have a candidate who doesn't even know what a recession is!!!

Hal Donahue on Predictions
Seems old Hal has the same problem with definitions as Obama regarding recessions.

Just this last April, Hal proudly predicted we'd be in an official recession by July.

He's also predicting an Obama victory in November - although he is unwilling to wager more than $1 on said prediction.

Wait! I've just had a brainstorm.

Hal! I'm playing online roulette - will the next spin land or red or black? I'll make a fortune betting on the opposite of your answer!

Primus: I think you scared off doofus!

Guess he couldn't handle the fact that his guy, the "Big O" is actually a "Big ZER-O!"

I suppose Obama may not...
know who the Dixie Chicks are/were since their genre wasn't something he was likely familiar with.

Their downfall was rapid and their rise to fame and fortune cut short because they went to Great Britain and showed their true colors.

The American people are willing to hash things out among themselves but they don't cotton to celebs going abroad to put us down.

Airing dirty laundry in public is a "No No".

The More BHO talks, the Less He Says
Thank God for you bloggers. I've been feeling mighty lonely out here. Now I know where I can go to get cheered up. Armigerous, WAY TOO FUNNY!!

LMAO you are saying that the first man of color to be running in the US should be polling what? LOL This election is bot about Obama as hard as you try to make it that - just watch

Folks
enjoy your day. Off to that bastion of liberalism NYC with the grand kids. trains, buses, boats...a real tourist expedition.

Roy in Oslo Comment #14
George Will points out that the only candidate with a thinner resume than Obama's was Wendell Wilkie, and you add "3 of the last 4 presidents with less: Reagan, Clinton and W.". You couldn't be more wrong. Each of those three was a state governor for several years. This is a much higher qualification than U.S. Senator, the last of which to be elected was Kennedy. It's called executive experience -- you know, like the executive branch of government -- the Presidency?

Ed Wallis #58: You make a GOOD point!

But I don't think anyone has fallen prey to overconfidence in Republican victory in November.

We still have to be concerned about the demo election motto... "Vote early and often" as well as the number of dead people who seem to get to the polls (UGH!) and vote demo.

And of course, we still have Nazi Pelosi refusing to act on assuring that the troops ballots get counted... obviously because they do tend to vote Republican.

I don't believe that any Conservative will be even "confident" until McCain has actually been sworn in!

A Secondary
thread has crept into the discussion of Will's column that I can't let slide.

That is that the rest of the world hates us!

I lived 20 of my adult years in Europe, three in London and 17 in Germany. Some in the military, but most with an American corporation.

In those years I was never made to feel uncomfortable or slighted because I was an American - quite the contrary, everyone always wanted to know about our country and our way of life, and more often than not, expressed a great desire to come here.

The fallacy of us being hated in Europe is a product of the Democrats and the MSM to further criticize the President. As you will remember, the only European critics of the US were the French and German leaders, and the result was that the first opportunity the French and Germans got Schroeder and Cherac (sp) and their parties were voted out!

I also suspect that the folks promoting this myth on TH are ones who have never been to Europe in the first place, or ones who have 'done' the Eiffel Tower or Buckingham Palace and now consider themselves authorities in the matter.

During my years in Europe, my wife and I traveled extensively. Believe me when I say that Americans and our way of life are much admired and envied.

P.S. As far as the great crowd Obama got in Berlin - anyone that knows anything about Germans will tell you that they are a frugal people and love anything that is free of cost.

Anne
The dems are becoming more creative. Not only do the dead seem to vote for the dems, but here lately in Montgomery AL it seems that they are buying votes. I cannot wait to see how the investigation comes out.

ModMark, good for them...
glad they aren't hangin' out here in Texas anymore. I am ashamed to say that Natalie is a native Texan.

Guess Mr. Travolta is one of those "do as I say, not as I do" kinda guys. I do think he needs bigger garages though.

My point is that at this time Obama is nothing more than a minor celeb as the presumptive nominee of the Dems. His audacity has not been rivaled even by the likes of Travolta or Al Gore.

Anne... You're Funny :)

But what else is there but Humor with said ninny?

'Borderline-Barack' is imploding. His contrived Narcissistic personality strained by the 'rare' reflection of truth.

His handlers (Therapists) know a little secret. Borderline-Barack cannot take any negative feedback. Certainly nothing direct that would come from a Townhall debate, or even a softball interview on Fox News.

I'm betting this 'mask of sanity' slips off before election day. And up will pop the weasel, the nasty little tyrant lurking just below the surface.

Will's Words
Obama is illuminated as the fool he is. Narcissism is Obama's aphrodisiac and his bedtime lullaby. Everyone with half a brain suspects there is something fundamentally wrong with Obama but they try to say or imagine it is a lack of experience and judgement because those two faults are obvious. I am persuaded Obama is not intellectually astute due to a life time of success provided without commensurate effort. Obama has been riding the 3 tiered wave of Affirmative Action, Political Correctness and the institutional desire to single out selected minorities for lifelong Reparations. The package is appealingly wrapped but too light to contain anything but air. Obama has had all he deserves.

Will & Wilkie
George Will indicated that Wilkie was weak on National Security matters, not on so-called executive experience! Executive talents for success in business, government, education and military- to name a few different settings- do not all function with the same emphasis on the parts of the skill set required.

So, one should not assume that one who has been a governor is better equipped to lead and play an executive role, than say a Senator especially if the Senator has meaningful executive experience in another role such as that gained by McCain in his storied military career.

Senator Obama is very thin on experience as an executive in a Legislative sense, as well as from any other role. His knowledge of history is good. His interpretation of it is full of distortions that probably relate to his liberal educational bias and time teaching its hopes for minorities.

One as weak as Hillary Clinton in terms of executive experience could not best Obama in the primary claiming superior executive experience. Sen. McCain is a much stronger man in terms of evident leadership skills and successful introduction of legislation without considering global awareness and military experience.

Hey Royinoslo
News flash..Most Americans, and I am one of them
don't give a rats patootie about Germans or other Europeans like us or even love us. We have enough of American haters right here, and
the Obamassiah is first and foremost. The only wons crawling for some groupie hugs are the
spineless, craven, selfish, greedy, unpatriotic,
American hating progressive lefts or what ever other nickname you can give to a gaggle of treacherous, seditious, military, hating. braindead due to overly indulging the hallucenigenic drugs while chanting the H... no we wont go mantra the useful idiots used during
the Vietnam war. They spat on our troops then,
and have done it ever since, now they have a
dream candidate that doesn't hesitate to spit
on the ones in the field and the wounded in Landstuhl. The are arrogant, snobbish and
hateful assinine educated fools.

Talon: And, I saw something this

morning on TV.... the dems in AL are trying to accuse the Republicans of re-directing votes???? What is that???

"Creative" is an excellent term! :-)

Carlos: I think you have a point there..

Remember Borderline Barack's "reaction" when his wife was criticized earlier this year on GMA???

"But I do want to say this to the GOP. If they think that they're going to try to make Michelle an issue in this campaign, they should be careful. Because that I find unacceptable."

What A Loser!
Obama is in the doldrums because he is against drilling for oil and because he is for reparations for slavery. In all the blather about 'world citizenship' he hasn't said one word about the 'global citizens' whoa re using a cartel to jack up energy prices and lower American's standard of living. If us dummies would just keep our tires inflated it will all be all right. Him and Nancy Pelosi are saving the planet! The Dems are in huge trouble on this issue because of their idiotic assertion that a crisis of imported oil prices can't be effected by raising domestic production. Obama's statement to 'minority' reporters that the 'tragic' history of the US had to be made good with reparations is another nail in his political coffin. His later fudging of it notwithstanding, things like even the mention of reparations brands him as the kook radical bozo that he truly is. All he needs now to seal his fate is a convention full of whining, accusations and proposals for new, giant giveaway programs. People are not in the mood.

what's in the package....
a half Caucasian Marxist, half African Muslim running for benign dictator of the world, lovely!

I wonder if he said "Thank You in German" after his speech.

Obama's Speech in Germany
To paraphrase the title of a German documentary produced in the late 1930s, perhaps the best description of Obama's recent overseas campaign swing might be " The (lack of) Triumph of the Shill ".
