Will the Dems' health care Christmas Present to America be an improvement or detriment to our health care system?


WASHINGTON -- Arthur Balfour, the British statesman, once said that a rival's clarity was a liability because he had nothing to say. As the presidential nomination contests approach a crescendo, some candidates are making themselves perilously clear, one of them with the help of her helpmate.

Last Tuesday, Bill Clinton, trying to whet Iowans' appetites for another Clinton presidency, announced/discovered/remembered that he opposed the Iraq War "from the beginning," thereby revealing disharmony with his spouse, who voted for it. Backward reels the mind, to 1992, when Gov. Clinton explained his opinion of Congress' 1991 authorization of the Gulf War: "I guess I would have voted with the majority if it was a close vote. But I agree with the arguments the minority made."

Such muddiness clarifies: Do voters who are weary of the scary clarity of the current president's certitudes really want to replace them with a recurrence of the hairsplitting evasions that created the adjective "Clintonian"?

About one thing, Hillary Clinton is, remarkably, both clear and opaque: Jefferson is anachronistic. "We can talk all we want about freedom and opportunity, about life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness, but what does all that mean to a mother or father who can't take a sick child to the doctor?" Well, OK, what does "all that" mean to someone stuck in congested traffic? Or annoyed by the price of cable television? What does Mrs. Clinton mean?

John Edwards' health care agenda involves un-Jeffersonian bossiness. "It requires," he says, "that everybody get preventive care. If you are going to be in the system, you can't choose not to go to the doctor for 20 years." In an ad running in Iowa, Edwards brandishes his mailed fist at Congress, to which he vows to say: "If you don't pass universal health care by July of 2009, in six months, I'm going to use my power as president to take your health care away from you."

What power would that be? What power enables presidents to "take" health care from people who have it by statute? This is the Democrats' riposte to the grandiosity of the current president's notion of executive prerogatives?

Edwards might, however, reconsider -- he is, after all, a serial apologizer. Of his actions during his six years in the Senate, he says: My vote for the Iraq War? Sorry about that. For the Patriot Act? I don't know what I was thinking. For No Child Left Behind? Oops! For liberalized trade with China? Forgive me. For storing waste in Nevada's Yucca Mountain? I was for it before I was against it.

On the Republican side, Mike Huckabee's candidacy rests on serial non sequiturs: I am a Christian, therefore I am a conservative, therefore whatever I have done or propose to do with "compassionate," meaning enlarged, government is conservatism. And by the way, anything I denote as a "moral" issue is beyond debate other than by the uncaring forces of greed. His is a moralist's version of the intellectual vanity once ascribed to Oxford's Benjamin Jowett:

If I don't know it,

It is not knowledge.

Many Iowans think it would be wise to nominate a candidate who, when the Republicans were asked during a debate to raise their hands if they do not believe in evolution, raised his. But, then, Huckabee believes America can be energy independent in 10 years, so he has peculiar views about more than paleontology.

Huckabee combines pure moralism with incoherent populism: He wants Washington to impose a nationwide ban on smoking in public, show more solicitude for Americans of modest means, and impose more protectionism, thereby raising the cost of living for Americans of modest means.

Although Huckabee is considered affable, two subliminal but clear enough premises of his Iowa attack on Mitt Romney are unpleasant: The almost 6 million American Mormons who consider themselves Christians are mistaken about that. And -- 55 million non-Christian Americans should take note -- America must have a Christian president.

Another pious populist who was annoyed by Darwin -- William Jennings Bryan -- argued that William Howard Taft, his opponent in the 1908 presidential election, was unfit to be president because he was a Unitarian, a persuasion sometimes defined as the belief that there is at most one God. The electorate chose to run the risk of entrusting the presidency to someone skeptical about the doctrine of the Trinity.

If Huckabee succeeds in derailing Romney's campaign by raising a religious test for presidential eligibility, that will be clarifying: In one particular, America was more enlightened a century ago.

Insist on the genuine article
Huckabee is a moderate/liberal trying to pass himself off as a conservative. He's become the "choice guy" by the mainstream press in just the past week or two... do you wonder why?

It's because he's the candidate the most like George W. Bush, which the media/democrats have been trying to run against, but he's not on the ballot. Thus, the MSM raves about Huckabee in hopes he'll get the nomination; then they'll turn on him and use all of that pent-up "Bush hatred" that they've fomented to defeat him.

Example: I saw on CNN today where they were saying "Huckabee is the Ronald Reagan-ish candidate conservatives have been waiting for!" Baloney! I'm a staunch Reagan conservative and can see right through him! I totally reject panderers, moderates, flip-floppers, and those that are pro-illegal aliens. That rules out Giuliani, Romney and Huckabee. On my list that leaves just Duncan Hunter and Fred Thompson.

I just finished watching Charlie Rose' interview with Fred Thompson... my comments:

I wish every person that even vaguely considers themselves to bear the title "conservative" could watch this particular interview; they may have to reconsider their predilection with those other candidates that are far more style than substance. Heck, I wish *every American* could watch it! This video further reveals what many of us already know: Fred Thompson is a solid, principled man that is eminently capable and qualified of being the leader of the United States of America for the next 8 years.

Fred has an open invitation to an issues-oriented sit-down discussion with other candidates (instead of the circus-style debacles they've been foisting upon us as "real debates"), but if any of the other candidates see this interview with Fred + Charlie Rose they'll back away from any discussion/debate with Thompson out of fear of sinking their own campaign!

I'm sending another check to Fred's campaign!

Loved your math manipulations, but maybe, too clever by half(5.0x10^-1),lol. You left out, surely accidentally, the forces of selection. And odds. And chance.

Hate to break this to you but little in nature follows pure mathematical progressions, even the vaunted geometric ones. Are you aware that a human can throw desired combinations with dice at a much greater frequency than can a machine?

i agree with you. given the complexity of even single cell organisms, it takes more faith to believe in random changes causing evolution of the complexity and variety that we see today than in God or intelligent design.

as far as the Bible and government programs:
the text calls for individual actions, not gov't actions to help the less fortunate.
what a lot of these gov't programs do is rob people of the opportunity to be charitable. In fact, it pushes to persecute those that are charitable like the Salvation Army.



Odds Are Long Against Evolution
Cobra venom is a polypeptide (protein chain) of 73 amino acids. There are 20 amino acids in nature. The odds of getting all of the amino acids right, in the right order, by chance would be 1 in 20^73, or 1 in 10^95 (10 to the 95th power).

But most complex molecules can still perform reasonably well with slight variations (novocaine is a slight variation of cocaine; both kill pain). Let's suppose 10 of the 73 amino acid slots can be a different amino acid. Futhermore, these variant slots can be anywhere in the chain. So the odds have to be reduced by 73!/(10!*(73-10)!), or about 10^12. So the odds are now 1 in 10^(95-12), or 1 in 10^83.

There are roughly a trillion snakes in the world (or 10,000 per square mile of dry land; sea snakes aren't that common). They have been around at most a billion years. Assuming snakes breed once a year, that leaves us with a trillion billion, or 10^21 all-time snake-breedings.

Divide 10^83 by 10^21 and you get 10^(83-21) or 10^62. That's the odds any snake, anywhere, would have gotten the right genes to produce something like cobra venom. You're more likely to win the megamillions jackpot 5 times in a row.

Of course, there's other venoms, and some have only 20 peptides. (With 20 peptides, the odds are around 1 in 10^25, or 1 in 10,000 for all snake breedings). But there's also the matter of evolving the fangs, venom ducts, etc. to deliver the poison with no harm to the snake.

All told, the odds of natural selection endowing snakes (and cobras in particular) prey-killing venom seems rather long.

Ron Paul
Ron Paul could help himself if he would point out that Huckabee is trying to create his own version of a state sponsored religion (namely his own interpretation of the Bible).

Huckabee quoted the Bible in favor of raising taxes and to give state money to illegal aliens. That does not sound like any form of Baptist that I know.

Well maybe Carter and Clinton.

Better Candidates?

Duncan Hunter is an embarrassment. Not only did his buddy Duke Cunningham subvert the defense appropriation process under his nose when he was chairman of that House committee, Hunter gladly accepted money from indicted criminal Brett Wilkes' shell company for contracts the Pentagon didn't even want.

Of course Hunter hasn't made a dent in the polls, but if he did, like Huckabee, the sordid details of his career would soon be headline news.

Ironically, the only candidate sans any real baggage is Romney, who is villified for changing positions(like Reagan) and being Mormon, which should be a positive if you're familiar with the work ethic, family values and overall moral character of the LDS.

So what?

My dog will beat Hilaary if he gets the GOP nomination.

Ron Paul is disqualified for the GOP nomination because he is not really a Republican. He is a Libertarian who uses the republican Party's resources to further his own career because he couldn't get elected dogcatcher if he had to operate as a Libertarian.

He learned this when he ran for POrez as a Libertarian in 1988 and couldn't even get on the ballot in four states.

He is disqualified for prez because he is a cut-and-runner on the WOT, a hypocrite on pork, and genrally a whacko on the budget.

If he got 7.5 minutes in the U-Tube debate it was more than he deserved.

The fact that he mouths the things Republican voters want to hear does not mean there are't better candidates (like Hunter). It also doesn't mean that he can actually make the things he mouths happen or that he will even try.

(You know. Like how he votes against bills that have pork for his district in them knowing they will pass even against his dissenting vote. How did the pork for his district get in there in the first place? Hmmm?)

Mixing Church and State
Huckabee has a long open (video reocorded) record of mixing church and state. He has justified tax increases and pet social engineering projects on his interpretation of the scriptures. He has oft quoted scriptures to bolster his case. He has attacked the political positions of follow Baptists using his private interpretations of scripture.

Huckabee needs to answer for every time he has violated separation of Church and State. When he runs an ad claiming that "His religion is his identity", he is telling you that he does not know where church ends and state begins.

What type of Baptist is Huckabee. Is he like Clinton and Carter? Is he another well packaged, ethically challenged minister like Ted Haggart, Jim Bakker or Jimmy Swaggart (to name a few)?

Are we trying to nominate a Pastor in Chief? If we do the Dem candidate (even on of the cracked pots) will kill Huck in the general election as a religious zealot who mixed church and state for years in AR.

Conservatives have an opportunity...
Conservatives have an opportunity to work for the election of a candidate who is committed to the conservative belief that government should be the primary support for the moral teachings of Christianity. The conservative movement has always experienced a tension between traditionalists and libertarians; that earlier conflict has been replaced by a conflict between libertarians and business/fiscal conservatives (once the mainstay of the Republican party) and genuine, i.e., religious conservatives.

Why do I label religious conservatives as "genuine?" It is because they, and only they, understand fully that the conservative view of morality, social order, and government is grounded in objective truths established by God. Since religion is specific, in the case of the United States, the religious truths are those of Christianity. It is, of course, factually possible for a conservative not to be a believer, but such non-believers are irrelevant to the political agenda of genuine conservatism.

Genuine conservatives may disagree about which candidates best meet their criteria, but what matters in the long run is that only Christian candidates, committed to the truths of the Bible, should be elected to public office in this country. Such candidates, once in office, can work to sustain the religious character of American society. That's what it's all about.

Smoking ban?
I am a conservative Republican. But if Huckabee thinks he is going to take away my Romeo Y Julietta Vintage III cigars by a public smoking ban, I will refrain from voting if he is the nominee. He has become as bad as the friggin liberal Democrats when it comes to mandating conduct. That is not Republican.

You're right that G.E., the auto makers, and other large industrial companies are not hiring illegals. The companies hiring illegals are concentrated in food processing, construction, hospitality, landscaping, meatpacking and agriculture. Some of these are household names, such as, Tyson, Swift, Ryan Homes, Con-Agra, and the major hotel chains. The unions think they will be able to organize these "undocumented" workers once they are legalized. The average wage of meatcutters in 1980 was $18.00 an hour, today it is $9.00.

... what should be obvious but apparently isn't. Any decision the government makes is a decision individuals don't get to make for themselves and their families. Expansion of the government results in intrusion on our individual liberty. Whether we're talking about the banning of "unhealthy" or "immoral" items or activities, or the expansion of taxation, the use of Big Government from the right is no better than Big Government from the left. We should say "NO" to both.

Huckabee Moral?

Is it moral for someone to assist alien invaders in their efforts to enter our land illegally and then steal the birthright of Middle Americans? That which our Fathers, Grandfathers and ancestors built and left for us? What is moral about stealing and those politicians that aid and abet in that thievery?

Its wrong to assume that just because someone is or was a Preacher that they have all the answers. If that were true America would not be in the accelerated downward spiral she's in. Of course preachers these days speak what they think their congregations want to hear. And that includes a continuous flow of humorous one-liners. Of which Huckabee is so adept.

Now don't get me wrong. I like Huckabee. Ha! If he'd modify his position on illegal immigration/immigrants a bit he could waltz right into the White House. He may do it anyway if the other GOP candidates don't quickly form a winning strategy. DD

Huckabee is dangerous
Huckabee is a Huey Long type of populist who is dangerous. His hypocracy is breath taking and his Christian values do not extend to law and order, but do extend to taking away people's God given right to make their own decisions. According to any reasonable interpretation of Huckabee's positions, Americans have no right to self determination bsed on his unabashed and unlimited support for the illegal alien invasion. This leads me to question his patriotism. Will he sell out our sovereignty as the first tier candidates will? If you are conservative and/ or Christian, support and vote for either Tom Tancredo or Duncan Hunter. If you are liberal or libertarian, vote for Ron Paul. These are our only choices for an America with a foundation set on our constitution and not a country and government mired and bogged down in so many international treaties that our sovereignty has no decernable meaning left.

Campaigns, a great way to pick
a President. The longer I see them in action the more I am convinced there is nothing better then a national campaign to pick a President. Huckabee's rise is totally his own, and when those with whom I agree more learn his and Ruddy's secret and implement them will see them rise too.

Huckabee would be a nightmare...
for the United States. Don't be fooled by Huckabee's smooth talking style. He is pro-amnesty, did anyone see him on George Stephanopoulos this morning trying to explain himself over giving American tax dollars to illegal aliens for college scholarships?

He said "we should not punish the children for the sins and mistakes of their parents." What?! Everyday American children are punished for the sins and mistakes of their parents.

For instance, many American parents drink, take drugs and do not watch their children. This hurts their childrens chances of getting a "scholarship", additionally when parents are sent to jail for doing something illegal, their children become wards of the state, this hurts (punishes) the children for mistakes their parents made.

So don't tell me that"we must not punish children.." Mr. Hucka-billy, you are biased and want to give more to children of illegal aliens than children of American citizens.

Last evangelical Christian President
I for one am tired of the evangelical Christian voting block assuming they are the only legitimate voice in the Republican Party. (Including their threats to pack up their toys and go home if they don't get their way.) The last evangelical Christian we had in the White House was Jimmy Carter, and we all know how well that turned out.

Astounding arrogance
Pardon me, Mr. Will, for pointing this out but the "shoe" you are trying to force on Gov. Huckabee actually fits you. You make amazing leaps in logic to reach your conclusions.

Gov. Huckabee has never proposed to force his morality on anyone. His views, religious and personal, are his own. He does believe in the "Golden Rule", treating others the way you want to be treated. He tries to live his faith to make himself a better human being. You are trying to scare voters by painting Gov. Huckabee as a radical religious wingnut.

Gov. Huckabee has said that he has a hard enough time getting his own life right without judging other people's faith or what others decide to do about belief. He would not tell other people what to believe, or that they are not going to Heaven for what they believe, or that they are not Christian.

You assume that because Gov. Huckabee was ordained to preach in the Baptist church, that he holds himself to be more Conservative. You can look at the bills he signed in Arkansas as Governor to see that he acted as a Pro-Life, Pro-Family, Pro-Traditional Marriage Conservative. Dick Morris gave specific examples of Huckabee's fiscal Conservatism.

Either you haven't done your research, or you have decided to ignore your research, or your advancing age has affected your ability to rational discern the truth.

Scare tactics, obfuscations and lies are beneath you. Or, at least, they once were.

Illegal Aliens Are NOT Immigrants


The numbers are much higher than 10-12 million. We are being purposely misled. Most of what you hear about illegal aliens is propaganda to get us to give up our country without a fight. In 1986 we were told it was less than 1 million, turned out to be 3.6 million getting amnesty, a few of them were involved in bombing the WTC in 1993. This time we're being told 10 million, it is more like 20-30 million. Enforcement under Clinton was insufficient but looked robust compared to this administration. They have purposely let the situation get worse to try to force us into another amnesty/guestworker/regularization, whatever euphamism it is this week. The media, unions, both parties, churches, and mostly the corrupt corporations employing them are working to undermine our sovereignty as a nation and our rule of law. Until very recently there was practically NO enforcement.
This grand experiment of government of the people, by the people, for the people is being usurped by government of the corporations, by the corporations, for the corporations.

The Stupid Party


Another amnesty will result in Democrat majorities for decades, GOP voters know that, why doesn't the RNC? How stupid do you have to be to import voters for the opposition at the same time you alienate your own voters? Nominating any of the amnesty trio (McCain, Huckabee, Rudy) is a losing proposition, we will not support them. If the GOP intends to surrender our sovereignty and abandon the rule of law, they will find in November 2008, that they still have their big money/cheap labor donors, but they do not have voters. The muddy waters are clearing up and the clear front runner is Ron Paul. Ron Paul just won the Virginia State Republicans Straw Poll yesterday. Ron Paul has won 1st in 15 of the last 19 Republican straw polls. This show that Ron Paul has strong Republican support.

Repulican Nominees
Explain to me how the TH defined left loses the 2008 election. Hating HRC won't be enough. It's like a golf shot over water. Focus on the hazard
and your wet. You need to look at the green.

If Mitt wins - you a have a Mass. Gov running things we all know what you think of that state.

If Rudy wins - well, I don't need to say anymore.

I suppose every president is self absorbed...but Bill Clinton takes the cake.

His narcissism is embarrassing. It is all about him, his legacy; even when he recently gave a speech in support of his wife, he mentioned himself something like 94 times, and his wife only 7 taimes, during the 10 minute speech. Clinton did ignore the looming terrorist threat, and he cannot now rewrite history to claim otherwise.

Don't get me wrong. I am no fan of G.W. Bush. While I voted for Bush, his neocon, leftist, interventionist, arrogant, "preachy" foreign policy(on Iraq and elsewhere), along with his globalist inspired scheme to create one super entity comprised of Mexico, U.S., and Canada, with its inevitable diminution if not abolition of national sovereignty, along with his out-of-control spending which has increased the size and scope of the federal goveernment, has "cured" me of my addiction to the Republican Party.

I am now an Independent.

I don't like Huckabee. An evangelical Christian does not necessarily deserve to be president.

I think Huckabee possesses a leftist social gospel, and if elected president, would pursue using American tax-payer monies to go about the globe alleviating the poverty of the world's oppressed.

We need to get our own nation in order. Our infrastructure is decaying, electrical grid, subway and sewer systems, etc.

Huckabee would loot American funds that should be spent here to improve our nation, and waste them on moronic gestures of socalled compassion around the world...and the result would be a poorer United States taxpayer, while the lot of world's oppressed would not have changed one iota.

I used to like George Will quite a bit. Then I read one column by him awhile back stating that social conservatives "need to grow up," and not vote their values in an election.

Here's one for you, Mr. Will. People vote their values. If they didn't vote their values, they wouldn't have a basis on which to vote.

How about a balanced budget, huh? How about unwavering support for the 2nd amendment? How about a defense of the individual rights of the unborn? Where you've gotten this line of reasoning is anyone's guess, but it certainly wasn't from Huckabee's mouth, website, or supporters.

It was not an easy decision to make, considering every writer and commentator is biased against him. It has been the ability to access information from the internet, that helped in that effort and my reliance on the MSM and supposed conservative writers/commentators is no longer needed. Now I listen or read them for entertainment, but certainly not for any real facts.
For the first time, in a long time, I do not have to pick the lesser of two evils and I know it to be true, because I researched the candidates myself.

Don't Get Too Serious About Will George
Will's credentials, as stated, are - 1976 Pulitzer winner (31 years ago) and a book on Baseball. What more can you ask for of a TH writer? Edwards cannot win the nomination, leaving the 3 in George's article. Clinton, Romney and Huckabee. Huckabee's baggage is relatively more heavy than the others and he is still very much unknown to most voters. The Dems cannot afford to dump Hillary or select Obama; leaving the Repubs to deal with Romney and Guiliani and that is the big question. Which ones does George Will prefer?

Under any circumstances. Would rather see Hillary take it and at least have the public sink under real liberalism than sink under Huckabee's snake-oil "compassionate conservatism." People -- we've already had Bush for 8 years. Who could possibly take more? He has corrupted the public's understanding of what conservatism means, and well, it's just too obvious to be stated. But Huckabee would put Bush to shame even on this score. No, he is a scary guy. Don't mind voting for an evangelical -- did for Bush twice -- but not on that basis alone. The religious right, for whom I have had so much respect for so long, seems to be growing more and more adled in its reasoning capabilities with respect to the constitutional principles upon which the nation was founded.

By the way, can you imagine how a ban on cigarettes might work? The enforcement problems? Potential criminal records for grannies who still smoke. I hate to use the word idiot in public discource, but good Lord -- these folks coming out of Arkansas are giving a bad name to the stereotypes associated with that State. From what swamp do they rise? Perhaps the pandering and such, and our willing to fall for folks raised in such a backward political state ("snakepit") says a lot about us as a society today. Though it has admittedly often been the snakes who historically rise to the top in any country's political system.

It is not a surprise that Bill Clinton is still campaigning for himself as the popular hero for American. He never stood for anything to begin with and assumes we don't either. To flip flop on the Iraq war, to turn his back on American troops for political advantage, is consistent with the way he always has been. The Clintons have nothing but non-commitment to offer the American people. They are the most dangerous couple in America. They would sell the USA out in a heartbeat, if they thought it would make them look good to someone. This includes terrorist countries that they fancy they can deal with. There is so much self-delusion in their thinking that I can see why terrorist regimes want them in the White House.

It makes no sense for the unions to want illegals.They would have to train them for 5 years like they do others.Once they are trained they would go to right to work states,teach thier fellow illegals and the wages would go down.However in those right to work states the only people to benefit would be non union contrators.By the way as a union man for 50 years I believe in the right to work laws.Alot of nonunion contractors hire union workers,as they know they are the most qualified

People that profess to knowing exactly how God did all this are to my mind in possession of knowledge that is unattainable on this side of death. God may have used evolution as the tool to bring about what exists now or He may have created all of this a few seconds ago. To claim to know the reality of God and His intentions and methods is to me hubris for a species that is nothing more than monkeys with their tales pulled off.

I too am glad that the founders acknowledged the Creator as the fount of all rights and pray that we are strong enough to deter those that would replace the word of God with the word of man. I realize the first view of God may be inconsistent with the second view. That I hold these views in tandem should not be surprising as after all I am just a monkey with my tail pulled off.

I don't know the reasoning of big business in encouraging immigration legal or otherwise because I have very little understanding of big business. I do understand work though and a major reason I like having our Latino brothers around is they work their butts off. I build custom homes in the Northern Va. area and am as careful as the law will allow in my hiring practices. The vast majority of the work done is by subs and many of the workers are Hispanic.

There is a definite difference in the work habits of the lower skilled workers. The high skill people we use are for the most part equal in their production efforts. The lower skilled that are native born show a marked disinterest in getting the work done. I do not know if that is a consideration for big business or not.

That said the thing I would like to see is a barrier at the Mexican border that would make the old Soviet Union jealous. I don't blame them for wanting to come here but the law must be paramount. Come legal with the intention of becoming a real American (hear the libs laugh) and I welcome you. The world needs more real Americans.

I'm amazed! The ONLY ones making a "federal case" out of Huckabee's Christian faith is the media. They're relentless in their questioning him over it. I haven't heard him say once, "Vote for me because I'm the only true Christian among the candidates." Then Will falsely accuses him of doing just that by suggesting that Huckabee might succeed "in derailing Romney's campaign by raising a religious test." Foul!!!

This may come as a surprise to some people, but the Bible contains the foundational principles and basis for the Christian faith. If it truly IS the word of an infinite, omnipotent Creator, then those who believe that place significance on what it says. (I'll let others defend how they decide to "pick-and-choose" from it's pages.)

By the way, Thomas Jefferson and the Founders acknowledged the Creator as well:

...but there is another problem I have with this accuzation that large corporations want illegals because they will work cheaper than citizens will.I don't know of a large corporation that isn't unionized.Trades such as carpenters and bricklayers are also unionized,and I cannot imangine a union permitting a business to violate contracts by paying anyone to work cheaper than the standard contract calls for.The business may hire an illegal,but it won't be because they will work for less.All employees must be paid what the contract calls for or have their butts sued off.

Large farmers may be able to juggle their temp workers pay to get the crop in,but they are not large corporations like the auto industry or General Electric.I guarantee you that those large businesses that were raided on TV were not paying less wages to illegals than they were to American workers.

Conservatives can nominate a conservative. All it takes is not acting like sheep and getting herded into nominating a northeast liberal. 49% will never vote for Hillary, only 60% voted last time. Turnout was the difference. Give Americans a chance to vote for someone who WILL secure the border and watch turnout soar. Americans want their government to fulfill its most basic responsibility.

The primary responsibility of the U.S. government is to protect the territorial integrity and people of this country. They have completely abdicated this responsibility. Both parties have been complicit in this. We are being told it is not possible to control our borders, enforce our laws, and thereby control our destiny as a nation. Hogwash. We are being sold out by corporations intent on importing workers for jobs that can't be exported with the taxpayers paying the true costs, financial and human. If we act like sheep and don't stop the inundation across our borders, we will lose our country without a bleat.

The only issue I have ever seen 75-80% of Americans agree on is stopping illegal aliens. Any GOP candidate that is credible (not Rudy, McCain, or Huckabee) on this issue could win in a landslide.

The biggest problem is the RNC has sold it's soul to the cheap labor express. They are determined to nominate an amnesty candidate, even if it means losing the election. Stupid Party, indeed.
