The John McCain I Got to Know

Will the Dems' health care Christmas Present to America be an improvement or detriment to our health care system?

Although Americans are used to Labor Day campaign kickoffs, this year’s back-to-back political conventions meant exposure to more than the usual number of partisan promises of a bright future and excoriation of the opposition.

So, while most of us who address the national conventions like to think our words will make all the difference for our party and the great American who is our nominee, in reality our speeches usually just blend into a kaleidoscope of impressions the public takes from the week’s events.

That is why, in my own convention speech, I tried to tap into a sentiment already established in the public mind. I talked about John McCain’s remarkable and heroic record as a POW. But I also talked about the John McCain that I got to know while sitting in the desk next to his on the floor of the U.S. Senate.

Citing any senator’s record, however impressive, may or may not electrify convention delegates. But it was my way of laying down a marker on behalf of a theory I have about both conventions and campaigns in general. Even amid a convention’s staged bedlam and overly hortatory speeches, voters do pick up information that develops into lasting impressions that count for something on Election Day.

The pundits and the political class sometimes underestimate the extent to which the public, in its subliminal but thorough way, collects data and makes informed electoral decisions. In a broader sense, voters carry into the polling booth this ultimate question about presidential candidates: “Who do I trust to make the right decision?”

Key issues for voters in this election will be freedom and national security, and here their impressions will be vivid: rogue nations with rapidly developing nuclear capabilities, nuclear-armed nations in volatile regions such as India and Pakistan, traditional nuclear powers such as Russia flexing their muscles and threatening the liberty and stability of those around them, and China building up its military in a way that suggests it wants to beat the United States in more than gold medals.

Here McCain makes his own vivid impression. His record shows that, early on, he understood the ominous intentions of Russia’s leaders, made the Iranian mullahs fear him and foresaw the need for a troop surge in Iraq, which, along with his own military service and longtime Armed Services Committee membership, add up to real national security experience.

By contrast, voters struggle with his opponent’s virtually nonexistent record on these issues. It comes down to a common sense decision that says: With national security traffic so heavy, this is not the moment to turn the car keys over to a teenage driver. Presidents don’t have time for drivers ed.

On the economy, voters have the same impression of McCain that I had on the Senate floor, where he fought plenty of fiscal battles. Some he lost. Some he won. Sometimes his colleagues liked him for it. Sometimes they most decidedly did not like him for it.

But the impression left with voters is, again, one that contrasts with his opponent’s. The McCain record shows he often stood alone in understanding that long-term prosperity of the American people requires us to stop wasting and spending the birthright of the next generation. And he knows, as his opponent does not, that you don’t make the American people prosperous by making the government richer and that, in an economic downturn, you don’t impose the largest tax increase in American history.

Finally, an issue McCain has asked me to help his campaign with — the federal judiciary — is one that disturbs voters to the point of having enormous electoral possibilities. The federal judiciary is the Democratic Party’s vehicle of choice to enact policies that could never see the light of day if they were required to go through the democratic process. And that party now talks about electing a supermajority in the Congress that, along with the most liberal president in our lifetime, would allow them to change the face of America without enacting one piece of legislation — a change that would take us a generation to rectify, if we ever could.

McCain has chosen to make this issue a priority because he thinks the public worries about a Supreme Court lost to liberalism for our lifetime, and that it cares about the appointment of federal judges who will follow the law and the Constitution and not remake it along the lines of their own policy preferences.

McCain’s opponent has carefully worked his way up the political ladder, guided by no discernible political principles except adherence to party positions — which he has showed a willingness to change if the political winds blow too strongly against them. By contrast, McCain’s life and career exemplifies courage, sacrifice and leadership.

Put simply: Others talked about reaching across the aisle and reconciling differences; John McCain did it. Others went along with pork barrel spending and getting the political benefit from it; John McCain fought it. Others wanted to declare defeat and cut and run in the central front of the war on terrorism; John McCain fought for a strategy that would ensure victory. Others gave lip service to reform; John McCain actually made it happen.

So impressions matter in politics — as do the facts and the record that create those impressions. Through all the convention hoopla and focus on the Electoral College horse race, then, the impressions of John McCain come through. Impressions of the same John McCain who lit up the political atmosphere last week with a startling and brilliant choice for running mate, the impressions of a lifetime record summed up by a word: leader. And a title: Mr. President.

Yesterday I discovered the Glenn Beck TV pgm on HNN (Ch. 202 on Dish). He ran the first of a 5-part series on Expose: America's Broke. It was about his stats that--continuing as we are-- Health Care (Medicare)& Social Security will consume the US entire GDP within ~20 some years, leaving none for the rest of US needs, including education, defense, infrastructure, etc. Please find this pgm on your TV or find his web site and inform yourselves about his and his experts' views.

Who Would You Trust with Nat'l Security?
Commander in Chief Already
Subject: Governor Palin, Commander in Chief
Who Would You Trust With National Security? Obama, Marxist Community Agitator or Governor Sarah Palin, Commander in Chief Already?

Subject: Sarah Palin's Experience and Quals.....
SARAH PALIN'S SECURITY CLEARANCE

Before you dismiss the fact that Sarah Palin is Commander of the
Alaska National Guard, consider this:

Alaska is the first line of defense in our missile interceptor
defense system. The 49th Missile Defense Battalion of the Alaska
National Guard is the unit that protects the entire nation from
ballistic missile attacks. It's on permanent active duty, unlike
other Guard units.

As governor of Alaska , Palin is briefed on highly classified
military issues, homeland security, and counterterrorism. Her
exposure to classified material may rival even Biden's and
certainly by far exceeds Obama's.

She's also the commander in chief of the Alaska State Defense
Force (ASDF), a federally recognized militia incorporated into
Homeland Security's counterterrorism plans.

Palin is privy to military and intelligence secrets that are vital to
the entire country's defense. Given Alaska 's proximity to Russia ,
she may have security clearances we don't even know about.
According to the Washington Post, she first met with McCain in
February, but nobody ever found out. This is a woman used to
keeping secrets.

She can be entrusted with our national security, because she
already is. . . . her experience in keeping the homeland safe fits perfectly with her image as the competent American woman.

And she Believes in the 2nd Amendment, and knows how to use a gun. What a change from the metro sexuals who run DC and our Government.

Compare her Experience and Resume with the Messiah Obama's???

Governor Palin, Commander in Chief Already, wins hands down.

INSIGHT FROM AN INSIDER!
Thank you for your analysis of who President Elect McCain really is. I see him as a man of honor, integrity and commitment to others. He also has a keen sense of what it takes to keep America safe. I want that kind of man in the White House. I also want a man who knows the horrors of war, but who knows when to stand the enemy down, if needed.

He made his first major judgment call by choosing Governor Palin as his running mate. A great choice. As a team, I believe, they will bring the change and reform that Americans need and want.

The impressions of a lifetime record...
The impressions of a lifetime record summed up by a word: GRIT.

It’s all about GRIT…

“True Grit”…Those that have it and…those that do not. Those that do not understand what “True Grit” is and what it means to have “True Grit”; will do anything to discredit those that do understand, and libel those that have it.

http://nkqx57a.blogtownhall.com/

Way-to-go…John/Sarah! Beware; you are entering the lion’s den of corruption. Please do not let your guard down for a second; else the power hungry corrupt politicians will bury you.

Thank you for accepting the offer to become this Nation’s next President and Vice President and good luck to both of you. May your administration become the benchmark for change and all future administrations to emulate.

I could not have said it better.
If I may I would broaden your thought a little.

The two stances (or planks) that were going to give McCain the most "energy" trouble was the "no drilling in ANWR and pro Global Warming.

The first regarding ANWR can be understood if the oil situation had not suddenly gone balistic. As to the Global Warming aka Climate Change aka ALGORION Cultist SCAM/HOAX, whatever set of imbeciles included this plank in the Republican Platform should be certified and locked away amid padding.

Seriously though, I believe that one major consideration by McCain was that Palin gives him a way to graciously abandon these two ridiculous planks. AND, to turn over the energy program(s) from the White House to her very capable hands.

HILLARY TO REPALCE BIDEN AS VEEP?
Will the unthinkable happen? Will Obama replace Biden with HIllary to compete against Palin and revitaize his campaign? Is this what Obama and Clinton are planning at today's meeting in New York? Don't count it out!

Click ApolloSpeaks and read Hillary To Replace Biden As Veep?

Support in Congress
When we elect McCain and Palin we need to make sure and put in a Congress they can work with.
Believe it or not, Orange County California, the most Republican county in the nation, if not the world, has a liberal Democrat representing s significant part of it. Incumbent Loretta Sanchez has a horrible voting record but hardly anybody really understands that. We have a great candidate in popular School Board Member Rosie (the Riveter) Avila. The district is largely Hispanic and Vietnamese so we have a good chance of carrying it. But we need support from all over the country to win. see voterosie.com

Superb!

APPROVAL ofANWAR DRILLING WINS ELECTION
McCain could capture the Energy Issue if he announced that he now approves of drilling in ANWAR.

If McCain made the announcement at the first debate, that would be the sound byte coming out of the debate.

He could give Sarah Palin the credit for convincing him that it's technically feasible and call her as the team's energy expert.

A positve Energy Policy is the solution to our Economy and allows us to negotiate from strength in Foreign Affairs.

The Tenth Amendment
My votes always go to the candidates who best understand the Tenth Amendment to the U.S. Constitution. In order, they would be:

Palin
McCain
Biden
Obama

Luckily, the top two are on the same ticket...

Fred's thoughts...
are lucid as always.

Here's hoping that, one day soon, you become as comfortable speaking of your own virtues in front of an audience as when you speak of the virtues of your friends.

God bless.

Never Forget 9/11/2001

"I will stand with the Muslims should the political winds shift in an ugly direction."
Barack Obama from 'Audacity of Hope'

I just want to say
Readings the posts here confirm my fear at just how ignorant democrats are - they throw out insinuations and then run. HeavyDoug and 2 cents especially - total dopes.

Yes, speeches after speeches
Yes, while America is hell bound on the road of Imperialism, period! On top of being presently the top nation in full love with Socialism/Communism, period. Yes, speeches plus speeches, mostly outdoing the other guy in telling questionable truth!

Yes, what does it mean other than being in full love with Socialism/Communism if America is now in full bankrupt condition at the tune of over 53 trillion dollars, due to all the Socialistic/Comuninstic programs the very Federal Government has imposed unpon the American people: never a one submitted for a vote. Yes imposed dictator style, period.

Yes, the very first one that of public education. Yes, for the purpose to dumbing down America so to make it easier to continue imposing only God knows how many of this Socialistic/Comuninstic programs that now it would require from every man, woman and child to sent a check in the amount of $175,000.00 to get this monstrosity of Federal Govenment out of the hole it dug America into.

Difference between parties? Zero, when all is added up! Yes, borders mean nothing and immigration laws like a joke. Yes, I am a legal immigrant of 52+ years and a staunch conservative Christian Republican. Ron Paul remains my hero. The only one that sort of reminds me of what America was a half a century ago. Yes, the Founding Fathers are shaking in their graves. I fell in love soon after arriving hence my above comments, in their honor.

McCain reminds me much of what Hitler was! No apology for saying such! No voting on my part, as voting makes no difference.

Thompson's Speech
I loved the Thompson speech at the RNC. I actually thought it was the best speech at the convention next to Palin's but I had to go to C-Span to hear it because the talking heads on the cable news channel I was watching thought their repetitive drivel was more important than Thompson's speech. Up until I heard Fred's speech I was still one of those conservative holdouts trying to decide whether I'd vote on election day. I don't believe anything any politician says to get elected but you can't fiddle with character.

The extraordinary benefits of maturity
McCain never mentions his greatest advantage over BO. It is his age, 72. Surprised? At 73, I find that my wisdom index has soared in the last ten years. Somehow living and learning as we advance into what is currently middle age (70-100) creates a perspective on life that is simply not available to younger people regardless of how intelligent or talented. It takes time to grow an oak tree, and the same is even more true of growing a mature man or woman.

No one is really qualified to lead greatly until they are in their sixties or seventies. Sarah Palin is wonderful as a young leader, far better than BO or Biden; however, she will be much more so twenty years down the road. But McCain is already there, right now. I think we can expect great things from him if elected and from Sarah more and more as she matures. Where leadership is concerned, age genuinely matters in a positive way, contrary to uninformed public opinion.

you can always tell how
un-informed the obamanuts are by reading their drivel.
I have a few questions that I doubt will get answered here.

I guess you folks aren't gun owners because you certainly won't be if your precious bambi gets elected...he says he supports the 2nd amendment, but always with a caveat about cities are different than the country etc, but he advocated a TOTAL ban on handguns in Illinois..so much for knowing the Constitution or respecting it, what else would he try to change by loading the SC with fools like him?.

I suppose you don't want to leave your money to your children when you die. Right now, thanks to GWB, there is NO death-tax, zero %..if the dems stay in power, in 2010 it goes to 55%, bambi says he wants it to be 45%, does he consider that a tax cut?

His reason? "so that no family can amass a fortune to leave to their kids"..nice piece of communism there barry. Half of everything you ever worked for goes to the gov't to re-distribute to slugs who never worked a day...

bambi will double the capital gains tax so every time you sell stock or a home they get 29% rather than the 15% they steal now...you think that's a GOOD idea?

I guess you LIKE $5 gas, that's what algore and the greenieweinies want, bambi says we got there "too soon", "people didn't have time to get used to it"..nice, the dems are really loking out for us aren't they? No nuke plants, no drilling, no nothing except maybe we will develop the technology 10 years down the road....just how stupid do you have to be to support a clown like this?

CFR Globalism and GREED

Yesterday I heard that the national debt of our nation is over (9) nine TRILLION DOLLARS and the annual interest alone on this debt is well over 250 billion dollars. The War in Iraq is costing American taxpayers over (9) nine billion dollars a month and the unemployment stats that just came out put unemployment at around 6 percent...the worst its been in over (5) five years....the Feds just nationalized Freddie Mac and Fannie May...and Lehmann brothers is on the verge of bankruptcy...

What is wrong? GREED, GREED, GREED, GREED and more GREED. Endless spending of American Taxpayer monies and borrowing money we dont even have...now, how does that make sense..we have a Federal Reserve that Prints as much money as they want and we turn around and borrow money from other countries like the chinese and pay an annual interest of over 250 billion dollars on (9) nine trillion dollars in national debt....it almost seems like someone or something wants our country to FALL on its knees..............

THE THREAT OF HEGELIAN/MARXIST DIALECTIC

I heard your speech at the convention on Wednesday night and you scolded those who you call protectionists...First of all, You and most of your cronies are members of the CFR and you know fully well what the CFR stands for but you bury your head in the head as if in a state of denial and label anyone who wants to call you on it as a Protectionist...Well, I guess I am one of those protectionists you were talking about because I believe in PROTECTIONISM...

* I BELIEVER IN PROTECTING OUR VALUES AND OUR HERITAGE.
**I BELIEVE IN PROTECTING OUR MEN IN WOMEN AND THE UNBORN AND INNOCENT WHO CANNOT DEFEND THEMSELVES.
**I BELIEVE IN PROTECTING OUR WAY OF LIFE WHICH INCLUDES OUR PORTS OF ENTRY AND OUR BORDERS.
**I BELIEVE IN PROTECTING AMERICAN JOBS FROM THE GREEDY CORPORATE SCHEMES OF MICRO-MANAGEMENT CARTELS THAT STIFLE WHAT USED TO BE KNOWN AS "FREE ENTERPRISE."
**I BELIEVE IN PROTECTING OUR COUNTRY AGAINST THE THREAT OF TQM OR TOTAL QUALITY MANAGEMENT THAT ATTEMPTS TO SNEAK THE HEGELIAN/MARXIST/DIALECTIC PHILOSOPHY THROUGH THE BACK DOOR OF AMERICAN CORPORATIONS.

** I BELIEVE IN PROTECTING OUR CONSTITUTION AND UPHOLDING OUR LAWS ON ILLEGAL IMMIGRATION....

***SO, FRED....IF YOU DONT BELIEVE IN ANY OF THE THINGS I MENTIONED ABOVE THEN I GUESS ITS TRUE...YOU ARE A GLOBALIST....

THE AMERICAN DEBTOR NATION!
Its mind boggeling to think of the shear GREED that is happening on WALLSTREET and the numbeR
of fat cat bail-outs that most recently included the nationalization of Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac...and you guys dont believe in Regulation? Maybe thats why Poisonous Lead Painted Toys are poisoning our children and why Poisonous Dog and Cat food and contaminated Human food is making its way to the homes of Main street America..

THE AMERICAN DEBTOR NATION!

Fred, I am ashamed when I hear you talk about the shortfalls of Protectionism and promote the CFR Globalist agenda that has almost bankrupted this country. I am ashamed when I hear you paint a rosey picture for America as your colleagues in Washington both Democrat and Republican have brought this nation to ruin.

Sarah Palin is the only reason that I have decided to vote for the McCain/Palin ticket but as an American I want to inform you that Main Street is in BIG TROUBLE! its because of the policies of Big Government spending that our nation is in a state of Bankruptcy today..why even as I speak we are sending one (1) Billion dollars worth of American Taxpayer funded aide to the country of Georgia. Its mind boggeling to think that you and your colleagues or former colleagues in Washington D.C. are doing absolutey nothing about our border as Drug Cartels continue to inundate our nation with Heroine, LSD, Marijuana, Meth and a variety of other assorted drugs that make it to the streets of our nation.

Unforgettable speech, Mr. Thompson

Mr. Thompson, you made an outstanding speech at the Republican National Convention. You are to be commended, sir, on your display of class as we remember you were a presidential aspirant as well.

Your theatrical voice conveyed well what John McCain went through as a POW. I was up until the early morning hours scanning John McCain’s book for the one unforgettable description you gave. However, I couldn’t find it. But I will never forget what you said. You told us that “he had boils as big as baseballs under his arms.”

Anyone who has ever had a large boil knows they’re like raging hot mini-volcanoes on the skin with a yellow core in the center and the whole eruption filled with pus.. Pressing on a boil can send infection into the blood. That’s why one is never supposed to squeeze a boil if on one’s face or head due to the possibility the infection will reach the brain.

That John McCain endured this hell on earth without going stark raving mad is a testament to his incredibly strong will and his love for his country. Plus his strong sense of duty developed then due to his military family heritage. And we can’t forget the love and care from his fellow band of POW brothers.

Listen Up
No one knows McCain's shortcomings like Fred does and no one in the country is better equipped, prepared and placed to bring McCain onboard with the issues we're painfully already aware. Fred is his loyal friend and as such will help him...and in so doing, us also.

In the meantime, with all the vast information we've all dug deep into for the past two years to be capable for our own governance, ( well, most of us. ) remember that it was Bill Ayers who gave NObama his start in politics and that it is Ayers' wildest fantasy to see NObama take the oath of office....'nuff said??

Thompson the Soothsayer
It constantly amazes me that the left still sneaks into our forums and peddles it's usual misrepresentations, marxist-socialist ideas, and outright lies about the Republicans. I guess they're not educated enough to recognize their own obtuseness and inanity. The same goes for the Ron Paul crowd. Give us a break.

Well done, Fred. Keep up the voice of sanity.

And Palin told me..
so biden told a man to stand up, and did not see the wheelchair. Big whoop. I've actually made that very same mistake. I can forgive that. I can't forgive preaching to me how perfect you are, and then flaunting your knocked up teenager with her sleepin dropout boyfriend and tell me 'I'm just like you and your family'. Um actually Ms. Palin, your not like me and my family. My 17 yr old daughter has been taught the birds and bees, and is not out with her boyfriend. And not to brag, but I've never cheated on my husband, like Palin did. Family values my moose poop!

Hey,
The pig and lipstick thing is a saying that goes way back. Even madame perfect used something similar in her little speech about nutting the other night. Not a big deal in my book, and certainly does not make me want to vote for McCain because palin is on the ticket. In fact, I'm insulted that McCain thinks by simply putting a wingnut woman on the ticket, this conservative woman will vote for him. Think again, Mac. Think again.

to: my2cents
to: my2centsplus,

Biden admitted today that Hilary was the better pick for VP, and was more qualified to be Prez... yet obama picked him instead of her. BAD CALL, BAD JUDGMENT. EGO, PRIDE, and ARROGANCE FUEL HIM. HE CANT EVEN SPEAK WITHOUT A TELEPROMPTER. Whereas Palin had no problems whatsoever when her's went down.

Biden also told a man in a wheelchair to STAND UP so everyone could see him... not very bright or perceptive of him.

Obama took a cheap shot at Palin about the pig with lipstick comment...then downplayed that it was directed at her. which is a blatant lie that any of us can see through.

He also supports infanticide. Any TRUE Christian wouldn't even consider it an option.

He's a wanna-be dictator. a marxist.

How can anyone take these clowns seriously?

They have no sound judgment whatsoever, and you're praying for McCain to retire, and Palin to go back to her family?

May the REAL GOD FORBID it. He has heard the prayers of His people and has raised up a war hero during a time of turmoil and instabilty in the world, and a lady who will cut to shreds the two idiots who are scared to death to face her.

GIVE ME A BREAK.

Fred, it is good to see you again.
I supported you big time on MyManFred and again revel in your perceptions.

It this case we have a real man judging a real man. In my view you and John own the largest gonads in DC when it comes to defending the American people.

To those who cannot recall WWII, Korea and Nam, you are fortunate age wise, but America is unfortunate that you cannot. Otherwise you could not possibly see this election in the proper perspective.

Obama is a paperclip with verbosity. A pipe cleaner that never saw a pipe, with tobacco, that is. A Pied Piper leading the children to the sea.

Hello to your grand Tennessee Mother, Fred.

PeskyFacts?
Lots of pesky facts to pass along. #1 would be 9/11. Anniversary tomorrow you know. We didn't come to this in just 6 or 7 years. It will not be fixed in a short space of time either. Obama doesn't have or know the answer either and neither do his pundits. All the rules changed on 9/11. While we are "hoping" for "change" we had better choose someone capable of speaking their own mind. Obama hasn't done that. Biden unfortunately has and will continue to do so.

But NO! The lies and personal assaults on Gov. Palin just keep coming.

Exactly what kind of a slime bag would say something so vile? Oh yeah, the Demo Chairwomen in SC.

And, btw, if you think I lied about something, point it out. Otherwise, go back to kos or huff.

I don't believe Obana intended any disrespect for Gov. Palin but his audience believed so. He should have immediately corrected their belief. He Didn't. That makes him guilty by association.
That goof will cost him votes.

"The federal judiciary is the Democratic Party’s vehicle of choice to enact policies that could never see the light of day if they were required to go through the democratic process."

This is one hundred percent correct. I have heard political advertisements for Obama that warn that a vote for McCain is a vote against Rowe. While this is true it is unwise for ObamaNation to make this campaign an up or down vote on abortion. Though very little about the Obama campaign is wise, if anything. The house of cards that is Barack Obama has already begun to collapse, and just as quickly the chances that this truly stupid man will ever be president.

Thanks Fred
Solid article and solid arguments for why, as Rush puts it, America simply cannot afford Obama - not economically, culturally, socially, spiritually.

Obama is a full-blown Marxist/Socialist. He's the most liberal member of the Senate and is the mouthpiece for radical leftist groups and their ilk. With an Obama presidency this country will suffer unmitigated damage of epic proportions.

Obama has ZERO experience and does not exhibit morality, honesty, nor integrity.

The man has an evil spirit. I do not say this lightly. His wife is a vitriolic hate-filled person. Their life-long associations are utterly dispicable.

Yes, I have plenty of arguments against McCain, but his brilliant choice with Palin strongly demonstrates that he intends to take the GOP and the country solidy towards conservatism. And it can't come soon enough.

Tim
""If partisanship "isn't the end all be all of life ",as you yourself just wrote , then you should have no problem with those Republicans, who freely choose to vote for others like Barr,Baldwin, Or Protest vote a write in their brother-in-law .""

Nope, don't have a problem with it at all.

But the first one that I hear complaining about president Obama, I'll also have no problem with laughing in their face.

McCain wasn't my 1st,2nd,or even 3rd choice, but compared to pure socialism, I'll take myt chances and vote with the guy who I agree with 70% of the time instead of massaging my bruised ego and voting for a 3rd party candidate that I agree with 90% of the time but has Zero chance of getting enough votes to win.

We all have to look at ourselves in the mirror after election day, and for the future of my children and grandchildren, my choice is McCain/Palin.

And I think Joe Leiberman would be a damn fine pick for sec def.

Oh by the way, I'm registered independent, and consider myself a Libertarian with republican tendencies. :op Just in case you wanna throw the Neocon name at me again.

So your answer is name calling.
1st. I didn't admit anything.
2nd. You don't have any intelligent answers for your bullets do you?
3rd. Your showing your true colors. You don't get it that I am, and have been for a very long time, a libertarian conservative that wants nothing to do with the democratic party. But your sooo typical. Unless I march in lockstep with you, I must be a democrat. You Anne, are more like the close minded democrats than you realize.

Anne
You and your party have reduced yourselves to lying.

How about having some pride?

So SMyles: You're admitting that this is

precisely what Marxist Obama IS IN FACT going to do?

Unlike Marxist Obama, McCain is NOT a Marxist. He has no interest in raising your children or mine. Furthest thing from his mind. Not going to happen!!

Here's the thing, you twit! Not once has McCain even come close to the primary Marxist tenents that Marxist Obama embraces...

1. Redistribution of wealth.
2. For the common good.

Problem is, you demoRATS are so shallow and uneducated, that you don't even know that everything Marxist Obama is promising, is right out of the Marxist Handbook!

Anne you're a hoot
So tell us about the utopia were going to have with McCain please. Tell us how each of your bullets are going to be different under McCain. Haven't you been listening and watching these RINO's. They want the same socialist crap. McCains is for Cap and Trade for goodness sake. Why is it you refuse to pull the veneer off the republicrats since you apparently have no problem doing it otherwise?

my2centsplus: I AM IMPRESSED!

You actually knew that Thompson was in the elections to help McCain beat Romney.

And of course, you know this because Thompson TOLD YOU THAT! Right?

Right!!! I didn't think so! Ugh!

So here's a list of things you can look forward to should McCain/Palin NOT win the election.

"Obama plans to enact, among others, the following "changes" to American life:
An increase in taxes from the low rate of 28 percent under Ronald Reagan to an economy-stifling 60 percent;

" * An expansion of federal medical insurance to 12 million illegal aliens and policies that would increase emergency room costs by $15.4 billion annually;

Nice satire piece Fred.
"Key issues for voters in this election will be freedom and national security." You mean like passing the patriot act to ensure our freedom? Or was it McCain-Feingold that gave us more freedom?

“Who do I trust to make the right decision?” So it's about that one big decision eh? Maybe the sentance should read; Being a lemming, who do I trust to make the right decision? Hey, you can keep growing the federal gov. just as long as you agree to keep bombimg the hell out of any nation we choose to call "rouge".

"On the economy, voters have the same impression of McCain that I had on the Senate floor, where he fought plenty of fiscal battles." I guess you mean those horrible earmarks that make up .04% of the budget. Yea, he's fighting the hard fight all right. (cough)

"Finally, an issue McCain has asked me to help his campaign with — the federal judiciary — is one that disturbs voters to the point of having enormous electoral possibilities." Um, are you talking about the same McCain that said Alito was too conservative?

Oh, and while your at it spinning everything, where's the paragraph on McCain championing our border sucurity?

Seems all these elite Repubs sold out so long ago, they don't even realize how offensive thier spin is.

Fred Giveth Some Advice...

...And McCain finally Taketh Some Advice.

Today... We are all Barracudas!

Pesky-cutting through your gibberish
Current state of affairs is what? Irrational negativity defined as a near depression in your eyes? What is causal? Iraq? Deficits? Mortgage meltdown? Oil?

Iraq- oh, that's right, Bush lied. And so did Germany, England, France, et al. Deliberately. A world conspiracy. Ask yourself how many attacks we have had here at home since 9/11.

Deficits? Even though revenues have actually increased 25% with the Bush tax cuts, the cost of the Iraq war make it impossible to balance the budget at this juncture. But as Iraq gets stablized, and our costs go down, staying the course will lead to a balanced budget.

The mortgage meltdown has been a major drag on the economy. Much of it fueled by fear in the financial markets. In the end, we are looking at 3/10 of one percent of mortgages in foreclosure. I prefer to think of it as over 99% are not in foreclosure, and while the 3/10 pof 1% will cause pain to those follish enough to buy that weak paper to begin with, in the end it will stabilize.

Price of oil? Drill, drill, drill. If Slick Willie had not vetoed Anwar drilling legislation put on his desk in '98 by the Republicans, we would be pulling oil out of there right now. And oil would be under $3.00 per gallon. So instead of waiting on Obama to do nothing, because it will take 10 years, let's get the ball rolling with McCain/Palin '08!

Tim
Maybe you fell off the sled, try hanging on a little better.

""Now,McCain wants to "reach across the aisle" and put Dem/Libs in his Cabinet.Uh Oh !""

Umm Reagan did it, Bush 1 did it, Bush 2 did it.

I can easily see Joe Lieberman as sec def. Got a problem with that?

Partisanship isn't the end all and be all of life.

And if you don't vote Mccain, that's one more voe for Obama. As much as many of us would like to be different, anyone outside the 2 major parties has as much chance of winning the election as i have of becoming Miss America.

Go ahead and stroke your ego, just remember, this may be the most important election in our history.

I planned on holding my nose and voting Mccain, but since Gov. Palin has entered the scene, I've become a McCain/Palin supporter, and have volunteered for the campaign. We either win, or we get used to living in a socialist state.

Mankind Survives under socialism, but it Thrives in freedom.

the choice is yours.

Gordana! - Check out the facts!
It's easy to check out the truth of the smears. See the links below. And by the way, pay attention to the rest of the world too! Both China and Russia resurgent. Iran rattling missiles at both us and Israel. Cuba and Venezuela inviting Russian forces to participate in military exercises off our shores. What does it take for you to understand that America stands alone because it stands for something!

http://www.factcheck.org/elections-2008/sliming_palin.html
http://www.snopes.com/politics/palin/palin.asp

Your candidate stands for infanticide! I know of NO western religion that favors that! He supports giving away 3/4 of a trillion $ to African dictatorships! This will happen with the same controls that Al Gore used when he gave billions to Russia to spur a market economy. All I see of that is a re-built war machine with several new classes of ballistic missiles!
Yep, certain Republicans in both houses aided in our decline, but unlike the Dims, Conservative Republicans do clean house occassionally. I have NEVER, in 35+ years of voting seem the Dims do the same!
I have my differences with McCain, but have never doubted his dedication to this country. Your candidates hav yet to spell out how they would do anything more than de-fund our Armed Forces and spend us into bankruptcy! More than $400 billion deficit this year, and planning on $438 billion for next...again, WHO controls Congress?

Thompson's speech
Was absolutely top notch! I don't know about the part about the Senator riding around in his 'Vette with a stripper when he was a young man while the Senator's mother was in the audience was a good idea, but the rest was right on.

Nice to be back amongst conservatives and all fellow Republicans. I have been raising hell on Huff Post and Daily Kos and been booted off both - not allowed to comment anymore. It's funny - whenever I posted something in response to a dimwitted comment with unassailable logic, I was responded to as a hater. Or Repug. Or Rethuglican. No thoughtful replies - just one line toss offs.

It was fun while it lasted. Many of them are obviously kids; young adults taught by liberal profs; I even saw a post where a kid said our party had stolen the mantle of Lincoln because he was a liberal! I reminded this lad that while Lincoln was expert at politcal manuevering, and appearing to be one tihng while he was after another thing, at giving a little one way to get what he really wanted, he certainly could not be called liberal because of it. Or just because he had a team of rivals in his cabinet, as Doris Kearns Goodwin wrote, certainly did not mean he was a liberal. I do not know what profs are teaching in classes, but I am certain it is mostly liberal gibberish.

Well, I am just very, very, pleased with the Convention and the big 'mo it has generated. I believe we are unstoppable, and that Senator McCain will be our next President. I knew he was going to pick Gov. Palin as soon as I heard her name mentioned in the press a few days beforehand; I have read all or TR's biographies and I know the Senator has, too.

And because his hero loved bold strokes, I thought it quite likely he would pick Gov. Palin, especially when considering TR was instrumental in defining the borders for Alaska once and for all, making it possible to set up a defined territory that in turn lead to its becoming a state.

I can't wait to vote in November!

Fred writes: "It comes down to a common
sense decision that says: With national security traffic so heavy, this is not the moment to turn the car keys over to a teenage driver."

And, the only thing worse is that this particular "teenager" also arrogant, overly impressed with himself, and isn't yet "schooled" in appropriate diplomacy.

Heaven knows, after Marxist Obama was presumptuous enough to "invite himself" to speak at Brandenburg Gate, Angela Merkel had to tell him he wasn't qualified.

It's McCain/Palin '08!!!

Phred
As much as I like you and often admire you, you were in the election for only one reason. To help your 'friend' beat Romney. It became very clear that Huckleberry hound could not syphion off enough bigot votes, you helped your buddy. I'm quite sure of this because
a. you took little interest in the election
b. you took a long time to 'decide' to get in.

I am on my knees praying each and every night that McCain gets sent to Retirement, and that palin gets sent back to her family that needs her. Thanks for nuttin.

Pesky write: "... who is responsible for

the current state of the country. Bush, Cheney, Thompson, and McCain,.." etc.

Pesky seems to forget that we have a Senate and a House of Reps that does have some say and impact into the current state of the country.

And you know that 90% of the times McCain voted with Pres. Bush? WELL, SO DID CONGRESS!

And, neither the Senate nor the House was 100% Republican. BUT, we saw what happened when the liberals were voted in a the majority......

How about 9% approval rating, and Pelosi refusing to even discuss drilling, and then shutting down the House so she could go on a 5 week vacation.

NOW, how about your rethink your "facts."

Fred for White House Press Secretary
To fill in the next four years and keep name in all that going on may I humbly suggest White House Press Secretary.
What could be more entertaining than Fred as White House Press Secretary knocking down the MSM everyday. I could see him picking the dumbest of the dumb for their question. Everyday, water cooler conversation would be about Fred's latest slap down. ABC,CNN,NBC,FOX, NYT,etc. reporters struggling everyday not to say something stupid so Fred doesn't pick them. I have a chill down my my leg....Fred's slow Tennessee drawl would cause frightening squirms to go up reporters spines as he picks his next victim.

Good article...you should be running though.

Gordana: Oh, come on now! How truly

stupid.... oh yeah... you're a ronnie paul fan.

That answers that question!

Pesky
If you want to work all your life to end up in a socialist government - Vote Obama/Biden - The Business As Usual Team.

John McCain is a great American and so is Sarah Palin. They are the hope and change that Washington needs!! They are experienced and know this country. They are adaptable to ever-changing issues.

McCain/Palin '08
The NEW Winning Team

Thanks Fred!
As always, a voice of civility and reason.

RON PAUL is my choice...
...because I cannot the future of my childern in the hands of somebody who does't care for hers.

Plus, she needs a crash course in economics in order to face the journalsist?!? Not ready to stand next to the most powerful man on the world. She can continue her work in Alaska, I wish her all the best. We need an experienced person in the White House. Johnny would be able to do it, but if something happens to him we are lost.

Sorry folks, I am not ready to face such a risk.

P.S. What is this issue about a lover?

Go Fred
"Finally, an issue McCain has asked me to help his campaign with — the federal judiciary"

Awesome. Talk about good judgment.

Also...Best speech of the night.

Fred
Great article !
Also, loved your speech.

Thank you.

Peskygnats
You think a mostrosity like the U.S. Gov't can be destroyed by (R) control over five of the last seven years? The decline is an arc begun decades ago, when we decided to encourage living at the trough of the government. It was deepened in terms of current issues by Congressional inquests at the behest of the under-priviledged that were aimed at forcing the lending institutions to make risky loans to people who were not qualified. Who do you think led that charge?

And why would anyone with a serious bone in their body think there could be some kind of change coming from the dude at the top of the political sewer that is Chicago politics?

PeskyFacts
How about that promise from the Dims to fix the energy policy and high prices?

Worked well, don't ya think? NOT!

Fred is incontrovertible today

Every word he says in this article is the truth. Especially the conclusion most serious voters are going to reach on election day.

Going for the leader; take McCain. Neither Obama nor Biden can lead.

His speech in the convention was riveting as well.

Peskyfacts
Seems you are distracted by facts. Although Bush/Chaney have been in office for the past 7 years, I can correctly state that the sad state of our nation today is due in all part to the obstructionism of Democrats. Do you remember what the South Dakota voters did to Tom Daschle because they were sick of him being an obstructionist? Guess what? Its about to happen again in '08.

We gave the democrats a chance in '06, they blew it with the partisan politics and infighting, and their refusal to get over the fact that Bush won re-election.

THANK YOU FRED...
Fred,

You were my first and best choice back during the primaries earlier this year...

Because of your federalist beliefs in that you wanted to get the federal government out of the business of federal mandates that continue to step on the constitutional rights and responsibilites of our states & the ability for us to better govern ourselves in our daily lives, as originally invisioned by our founding fathers, I supported & worked for you in the campaign...

After your exit from the race, because of the security issues facing our nation, I felt that I might have vote a write-in candidate, or at least HOLD MY NOSE & pull the lever for MMcCain only as a protest vote AGAINST Obama...

BUT because of articles like this, I have gotten to KNOW & LEARN more about McCain and those now supporting him..

Now with the introduction of Palin and with re-assurances from people like you and in articles like this, I NOW feel alot better in supporting & voting a McCain/Palin ticket in November for POTUS & VPOTUS....

THANK YOU FRED...

& GOD BLESS...

Der Fredinator
Wasn't your speech originally written for Schwarzenegger and adapted to fit your speaking style?

the vote
I've been writing in John McCain for President for the last four elections.

Cut through the distractions
Cut through the distractions. Ask who is responsible for the current state of the country. Bush, Cheney, Thompson, and McCain, and the rest of the republicans have been in power for 6 out of the last 7 years. They need to be held accountable for this nation's decline. If you like the current state of the country vote for McCain. If you think the nation needs to stop digging and start building a brighter future vote for Obama. It really is that simple.
