Do you feel the leaked information from a global warming alarmist organization is meaningful?

The election of Nicolas Sarkozy to the presidency of France has been a serious blow to those who claim that America has earned the undying hatred of Europeans. Oh, to be sure, the French media hates us, but there are a lot of people who say ours does too. Regardless, Sarkozy's victory has sent shock waves through the world's media centers.

A French president who openly admires America is an embarrassment to those who view us as the country bumpkin cousins of the sophisticated Europeans. American pundits and politicians who say we should change our foreign policies to win the European popularity contest ought to be feeling a little embarrassed too.

From the beginning, Sarkozy pledged to help heal the ill feelings that have existed between our two countries -- especially over Iraq. He outraged French Socialists and journalists by coming to America during his campaign to meet with our president. He has praised America's dynamism, freedoms and prosperity, and he promises to work for reforms that will make France more like the U.S.

Sarkozy’s victory over anti-American political forces was not just decisive; it was far more of a mandate than our own current congress claims. In his first post-election speech, he went out of his way to say, "I want to call out to our American friends to tell them that they can count on our friendship."

So what’s happening here? Could it be that we've mistaken the French media for the French people? Might the same be true of Germany, where pro-American Angela Merkel beat a critic of the U.S. to become that nation's leader?

I think that's part of it, but it also has a lot to do with Iran's race to get nuclear weapons and missiles capable of striking the heart of Europe. President Ahmadinejad has been regularly threatening European nations that won’t go along with his master plan.

Ahmadinejad’s threats are taken particularly seriously by the French, because there are a lot of people inside France who seem to share his goals. For years, the French have endured terrible intimidation, violence and riots at the hands of people who openly hate their democratic institutions. In the run-up to the presidential election, French voters were plainly threatened with even more bloodshed and destruction if they dared to elect Nicolas Sarkozy. As promised, that violence is now taking place nightly on streets across France.

The refusal by the French people to bow to this political extortion should be recognized and cheered. They have not only sent a message to anti-democratic forces inside and outside their borders, I believe they are telling us something even more important. We are beginning, I think, to see our old friends and allies put aside disagreements and rivalries to do what has to be done. It has been a long road, but the forces of civilization and order are beginning to understand that we are in a global struggle against the forces of death and destruction.

Maybe it’s time to rethink the "boycott France" movement that got so much attention a few years ago. Americans once toasted General Lafayette, and his son Georges Washington Lafayette. I think this would be a good time to toast Monsieur Sarkozy. And if you’re going to use wine for that toast, make it French wine.

Fred supports a pro-American Socialist?
Sarkozy loves America, not because we are free, but because of our current movement toward the worst aspects of progressivism. All lovers of increased government and Socialism bow down:

"In the 45-minute speech, Sarkozy declared the death of the 35-hour week, suggested that large companies may have to double or triple the part of their profit they are obliged to share with employees and vowed to replace gross domestic product with a more holistic indicator of economic welfare that he has commissioned from two Nobel laureates in economics, Amarthya Sen and Joseph Stiglitz. He also said that he would put a state bank in charge of defending French industry against sovereign wealth funds and other financial predators." - International Herald Tribune

Thank God our 'conservative' candidates and 'conservative' commentators look up to Socialists from the Continent!

Vote Ron Paul!

PArepublican
Hey, dummy, there is no such thing as a Republican in the Keystone, just a bunch of Socialist-Democrats who lost their copies of The Communist Manifesto.

Fred Thompson
This guys is an ego-maniac. Get in the race or shut up already.

Abortion and Mr. Thompson
nmr asks of Fred Thompson, "What are your beliefs on abortion? I saw you in a debate say that the federal gevernment shouldn't get involved."

That seems staight forward to me, the US government should not be involved. Roe v Wade is bad law. We already have laws against murder.

hello mr thompson writes:

Sir, that was the most brilliant things I have seen written in this column in a long time. If GWB had governed the way he ran his numbers would be far higher than they are. How is it that true conservatives dislike GWB for the exact opposite reasons libs hate him. The two biggest blunders NCLB and Prescription drugs for medicare are massive nanny state programs which runs counter to everythig real conservatives stand against. Libs should be dancing in the streets over these two programs. His two biggest successes are his SCOTUS picks and the War on Terror. In spite of the fact that Iraq isn't exactly Mr. Roger's Neighborhood I still believe it was the right thing to do. W's critics say muslims aren't ready for Demacracy, well tell that to the Turks. Tell that to the muslims in this country who vote in higher percentages than the typical White Christian. Should this turn out fine & I think it can if we stand behind the Iraqis who want freedom GWB could very well be one of the ten most successfull Presidents this country ever produced. I am John Doe, and don't you forget it.

Fred Thompson as Writer - Good Stuff
Fred Thompson offers in his article, "Oh, to be sure, the French media hates us, but there are a lot of people who say ours does too."

Great turn of phrase. Even if Mr. Thompson never runs, I certainly enjoy his articles. I hope he keeps it up.

Once again...
...Fred! says nothing and the sycophants fall all over themselves in praise.

So, Fred, you're HAPPY the conservative French candidate beat the socialist? WHOA! Mind blowing!

The messiah has arrived.

Philosophy of Government
It has been pointed out before that one of Reagan's best attributes as president was that he came to the job with a clear philosophy of government. He did not govern according to polls or focus groups, but according to a clear sense of how federalism was meant to work.

Fred Thompson's recent columns demonstrate clearly that he is cut from the same cloth. No, he is not a carbon-copy of The Great Communicator, but he has the makings of an excellent president.

The GOP's other would-be nominees, whatever their strengths, seem to come up lacking in this department. Their policies read like a Chinese menu: a little from column A, a Little from column B. I cannot seem to find a coherent sense of what these candidates actually believe about the role of government, probably because they aren't sure themselves. When Republicans put forth these sort of "moderate" candidates, they get clobbered (Ford, Bush I, Dole). When a real conservative runs and EXPLAINS the conservative position, he wins huge (Reagan, Gingrich in 94, Bush II). It is ironic that the current president got re-elected by CAMPAIGNING as a conservative candidate, then GOVERNING as a moderate and watching his popularity plummet.

When voters have a choice, they will choose a common-sense conservative who spells out his plans boldly, over some wobbly moderate.

Fred Thompson is that conservative.

Illegal migrants
The terrible Flake/Gutierrez amnesty bill has a provision for making the illegals pay a $3,000 fine in addition to other mickey-mouse stuff before they can have a green card, drivers license, SSN, etc. etc.

Some of these people paid smugglers up to $l0,000 to get them into our country; and that was with Guatemalan or Mexican earnings. Now that they're here and making more, they can sure as heck afford more of a "fine."

The people who HAVE come in legally and have been dutifully waiting their 7, ll or so years for citizenship that they actually want, wind up paying multiple thousands of dollars to get it. I just think the illegals should have to pay fines of around $10,000 to $15,000; and if they can't pay, they go back. They're costing the Treasury, what? something like $22,000 per criminal per year ... the difference between what they contribute in taxes and production and what they suck off in medical care, education and welfare benefits.

A meaningful fine would be a tentative first baby step toward repaying what they've already stolen and, Lord help us, what Bush and the Dems
seem determined to give them. The Republicans are going for that voting windfall of 40% of the Hispanics? That means 60% Democrats, dummies!

Fries
Can we call them "French" Fries again?

My Screen Name
Is a Simpsons reference, not anything to do with the next POTUS.

No Relation
Ok, so lets get to the real question: who should replace Fred Thompson on "Law and Order"?

SteveL
Steve posted, "Mexico and Mexicans aren't coming here to destroy Western civilization."

Maybe not, Stevarino, but they aren't sneaking across the border to become American citizens, either.

They are sneaking in to get what Americans think are low-paying jobs. To Mexicans, however, those jobs are high-paying (compared to the socialist-generated low paying wages in Mexico).

Still, they are violating the federal law by entering our country illegally, by falsifying the I-9 Form, by using false/stolen SSN's, by failing to report income to the IRS, plus whatever other crimes they do as a routine matter, knowing they can't be prosecuted once they scurry back south across the Rio Grande.

Destroy Western Civilization? No. Break a bunch of laws? Yes!

Illegal aliens are criminals.

This is NOT immigration

Migration is a movement of people from one place to another. Immigration is citizens of one country applying for legal entry to another country with the intent to become a citizen of that country. The debate is not about immigration at all. It's about moving the cheap labor here. Old fashioned notions like citizenship and borders get in the way of that. Bush is telling us illegal aliens do not want to be Americans, they just want to work here. The real answer is for foreigners to clean up their own countries so they do not need to flee them. Citizens of other countries do not have any right to "migrate" into our country without permission. If America announces to the world, "We can't stop you, so come on in", with another amnesty, the deluge will be overwhelming. If 3,000 a day didn't get your attention, then wait until it's 10,000 a day. We cannot sustain this influx and survive as a nation. We must speak up and speak to each other about this and not let false claims of racism or bigotry be used to intimidate us into silent assent. America is not Congress' to give away. America belongs to We The People.

They have purposely let the situation get worse to try to force us into another amnesty/guestworker/regularization, whatever euphamism it is this week. The media, unions, both parties, churches, and mostly the corrupt corporations employing them are working to undermine our sovereignty as a nation and our rule of law.

Until very recently there was practically NO enforcement.
And the numbers are much higher than 8-10 million. We are being purposely misled. Most of what you hear about illegal aliens is propaganda to get us to give up our country without a fight. In 1986 we were told it was less than 1 million, turned out to be 3.6 million getting amnesty, a few of them were involved in bombing the WTC in 1993. This time we're being told 10 million, it is more like 20-30 million. Enforcement under Clinton was insufficient but looked robust compared to this administration. We must tell the cheap labor importers NO! in no uncertain terms

America's Future

These next 2 years are vital to the future of this country. For 2007 we must make certain that McCain/Kennedy or whatever it's called this year does not pass the House. It will pass the Senate. The President will sign it, followed by the Totalization Treaty with Mexico, which qualifies former illegals with just 6 qtrs(18 mo) even if worked illegally, the benefits that we had to work 40 qtrs(10 yrs) to qualify for.

In 2008 we must make the candidates address border security and immigration enforcement.
20-30 million citizens of other countries are in our country illegally, 55% from Mexico, most of the rest from other Central and South American countries. Let's not ignore the leftward voting trends of these countries. It is notable that they picked May Day, an old communist day of celebration for their marches.

Most polls show at least half of the American citizens of Hispanic descent want the borders and laws enforced. Republicans will not win by alienating their current voters to get 40% of a new small block that will grow very large, very fast if amnesty is granted. That will grow the Democrats vote larger and faster as the influx increases exponentially as the result of another amnesty. It will spell the end of the Republican Party. The people who used to vote Republican will stop voting or form a new party. Conservatives will lose political influence and we will slide inexorably towards socialism (it has already started).

Most of what you hear about this issue is political propaganda that tries to convince you to give up your country without a fight, including on Fox News. The big money players are all on board the cheap labor express, they care not that American citizens do not want another amnesty. We know the last one resulted in 10 times the number of illegal aliens and a general disregard of our laws. The next one will be equally successful.

We need Comprehensive Immigration Enforcement, not reform. We need to restore respect for the law and the faith of the American people that their government is not selling them out. Amnesty for the illegal aliens is also amnesty for the corrupt companies who have been employing them. Money trumps everything, including love of country. Multi-nationals have no loyalty to country by definition, they see us as a market, not a nation. They see people as workers, documented or undocumented, no difference. If they can't send the work to where the labor is cheaper, then they want to bring the cheap labor here. Citizenship is meaningless.

If we love our Constitution and our representative Republic and we intend to keep it we must not surrender our sovereignty or abandon the rule of law. Profits must not supercede security. We should not create a new path to citizenship. We have a path to citizenship, more generous than any other country, illegal aliens have ignored it and bad choices do have consequences.

Mexican vs. Islamist immigration
baseballdoc writes: "While Europe seems to be waking up to the fact that they are losing their culture and France and Germany are beginning to fight back ...we in this Country go blythely along with plans to pass an Amnesty Bill for our invaders"

Sorry, those problems are not of equal magnitude.

This may come as a surprise to you, but Mexico and Mexicans aren't coming here to destroy Western civilization.

They're part of Western civilization. In fact, most Mexicans are Christians.

It wasn't 19 Mexicans who hijacked those four jetliners on 9-11.

Those few Mexicans who pursue a radical ideology are solely interested in historical grievances of the Southwest: Texas and New Mexico. Mexicans aren't trying to take over New York or Michigan.

That's a whole different situation from Islamists who dream of one day flying the Prophet Mohammed's flag over the White House.

the boycott was stupid to begin with
With all due respect, the whole notion of a "Boycott France" agenda should have been rethought before it ever came on to the table. The whole "boycott" started after the French refused to support our decision to go into Iraq. As it turns out, they were probably right. But very few on the Right will publicly admit that fact.

Regardless, the whole notion of a boycott by a large sect in this country against another nation has to be the stupidest, most arrogant agenda ever set out. Were the French suddenly just as dangerous as Iran or N. Korea? Or Pakistan? Or even Russia? NO. Then what the hell have we been doing all this time other than fulfilling every European stereotype towards America as a "dumb, uneducated, and ruthless" nation?

You remark that EU supporters in this country are trying to score points from Europe's popularity contest. Could it be that some of us just recognize the rising influence of the EU on the international stage? And the best way to not be overshadowed by them in the long run is to treat them as our equals, respectful of their stances and ideas - even when we disagree? No, you don't think that, because you're deluded that America will maintain its position in the world ad infinitum.

A great American said, "Someone that agrees with me 80% of the time is not my enemy." But that is not the message that Conservatives have been sending out to the rest of the world for the last 6 years. It's been replaced by "You're either with us or your against us."

Fred Thompson, I hope you run for President and WIN and continue down the black/white path as your predecessor just so the rest of this country can figure out how bloated, simple-minded and dangerous your ideas really are. But more importantly, so your party can finally accept the fact that the Reagan-era is over, finished, kaput...and will actually move on to better platforms other than "a global war on terror,""he's the next Ronald Reagan" or "boycott France."

Sarkozy from Chirac's party
There will not be much change and please continue to boycott all things French because the past few years I've been enjoying some premium French wines for extremely low prices. I toast them daily for their opposition to the Iraq war.

A guy who calls Muslim Youths, "Scum"
Sarcozy Carry's a lot of weight on this one. I wonder how many cars and French cities will be torched because of disenfranchised Muslim youths.
Nahhhh, Scum sounds better because it tags these little jerks of exactly what they are.
Just because they're Muslims doesn't give them free reign to terrorize and destroy other people's property all in the name of them being Muslims.
It galls me, because there are hard working Muslims out in the world who sit back and allow these little twerps to burn, rape, and pillage, all in the name of Islam.
If these "Scum" are so bent on burning or blowing something up why don't the governments of the world give them a complimentary box of matches and they can jolly well set themselves on fire?
I don't know about you, but I sure as hell fed up to here with Islamic attention deficit disorder, of blowing and burning things up.

orlandocajun
asked the question, "How smart or stupid will the American people be [in 2008]?

I know the question is rhetorical, but unfortunately, there are a LOT of Americans who like the idea of redistribution of wealth, a 35-hour work week, open borders, surrender in Iraq, nannyism, disarming all law-abiding citizens, nationalization of American industry, etc.

Look at the last two elections. Almost half of the voters in America went for Al "Gee, It's Hot Today!" Gore and "Hanoi John" Kerry.

In 1976, responding to the Watergate scandal, Americans elected Jimmah Carter. After one term of Carter's socialism, the Americans went for Ron Reagan, a real Republican. Twice.

In 2008, Americans can once again elect a real Republican, not another socialist like Carter.

Run, Fred, run!

Now he's an aristocrat
Did anyone else note that, before his election, Sarkozy was the "son of an immigrant" and now, according to the AP, he is the "son of an aristocratic immigrant"?

dumber, dumberer (& dumbest in MA)
orlandocajun

People are not as dumb as MSM think...

with some notable exceptions like my home state
moonbat-a-chusetts, where most are much dumber (maybe dumbest)...where killer swine kennedy, traitor kerry are heroes & senators unchallenged ad infinitum...the MA voters demanded big changes & new direction for 2006, so we threw the bums out and "lefted" further from 87% to 91% moonbat control of the state

Now i'm forced to ponder...only if moonbat-a-chusetts could be more like France

Fred, You Forgot to Point Out Something
The French people also turned down the EU Constitution. That was a foreshadowing of this current election. The French people are much more savvy and conservative than Chirac and his media have ever allowed us to see. I for one gave up my boycott of anything French right after they turned down that EU Constitution who's chief architect was Chirac himself.

voter turnout
France, at a time when they were losing their national identity; at a time when the socialists/unions were taking control; at a time when riots in the streets threatened their sense of safety; at a time when they were experience out of control immigration; at a time when the government was anti-business and pro-labor; at a time when the MSM was far left of center and for the most part supported Royal and her policies; at a time when relations between the US and France was at an all time low; had an incredible 85+ percent turnout rate with well in excess of 50% voting for the much more vocally and proud of it conservative candidate. Does any of this sound familiar? Are we not losing our national identity (english as a second language, "to hear this message in english, press 1", multilingual ballots, etc.). Are there not riots during May Day (Socialist) marches? Are we not experiencing out of control illegal immigration? Are the dimmycrats not pro-labor/anti-business (higher minimum wage, windfall profit taxes, etc.)? Is not our MSM anti-American/pro-democrat (NYT publishing national secrets, etc.)? Have we not been told that the world (France included) hates Us?

WE TOO CAN BE THAT SILENT MAJORITY ON ELECTION DAY. IF a candidate worthy of the conservative vote were to step up to the plate. IF that conservative candidate was able to tell it like it is... REAL TRUTH to power. IF that candidate espoused real conservative policies and principles such as Sarkozy did during his campaign. IF that candidate voiced an AMERICA FIRST position - not all of this globalization bull and not isolationism either - just America First. IF every conservative cast a ballot. WE TOO CAN HAVE 85% TURNOUT WITH WELL OVER 50+% VOTING FOR THAT CANDIDATE thereby giving him a REAL mandate. To heck with the left and right coasts. They are not the majority. WE ARE. They are a vocal minority because WE WON'T SPEAK UP and BE STRONG. The reason for this is the vocal minority has instilled fear in us due to their politically correct agenda. WE NEED TO FIND OUR VOICE AND YELL IT FROM THE ROOFTOPS. RUN FRED, RUN!

Stix

the balance of power
A political reality of American politics is that neither Republicans or democrats have had what anybody could honestly say was landslide mandate from the people for a long time.

Maybe not since Reagan. Bush1, Clinton's two runs, and both of Dubya's runs have been squeakers.

Congress has been closely split also for years.

The latest round of democrats in control of congress is just another case of "just barely squeaked by".

My point is that the pendulum of American voter opinion does not have to swing very far at all for the direction of politics to change. The democrats may think they are in the catbird seat today, but 2008 elections are closer than they think, and they won't have to p-ss too many folks off to ensure a loss of control the next time around.

Deserves repeating
So what is your plan to quell this crap Fred?
My voting for you depends on your answer.

Oops
disgusting people is two words. Back to my coffeee.

No longer is the media
Anti American. It is now anti west.

As long as the west is a bad place for lawless muzzies to run around burning cars and beating their wives, the media will play their violins.

They will remind us of how cruel we are for not letting barbarians stone young girls to death and behead homosexuals. How America is worse than Nazi Germany for locking up terrorists on a tropical island resort and overfeeding them.

They are, in a word, disgusting people.... the media, that is.

Welcome back, mes amis.

The Truth
Straight talk is invaluable!!

People are not as dumb as MSM think
I hope that this is a wake-up call for conservative Republicans in this country. Dems and the MSM are counting on the apathy and/or stupidity of the people.

When the French people see their streets burning, do they elect a leader who wants to appease the thugs, or do they want one who will shoot to kill? The choice they made is obvious.

We're going to be faced with the same choice in 2008. How smart or stupid will the American people be?

We have real conservative candidates, but Mr. Thompson is the only real conservative that seems to have a chance of getting elected at this point. The MSM will be all over him, but the people will see through their agenda.

Go, Fred go
This is another excellent example of analysis and communication by Fred. His views of the ramifications and possible benefits of the French presidential election were well articulated.

Granted unlike some of the pundits he did not cover his butt by enumerating numerous possible negative outcomes that the election may bring to France and us.

He concentrated on the possible good that the election may bring.

Leftist media all over the world spew
their propaganda that makes it look like they are in the majority. Their goal is to get YOU to give up and stay home on election day.

But when the passive "Normies" stand up in order to be counted, we have much more power than the MSM wants you to think.

Do not let them brainwash you or your children as they did for so many years in France. People were hornswaggled into passively letting the Socialists take over, because they had been convinced by the Froggie MSM that the "Normies" were in the minority.

"Normies" never really lose their common sense, though they may be confused for a time. But there comes a day when one must go to the window, stick one's head out and yell, "I'm mad as he11 and I am not going to take it anymore!!!"

And in France, that is what happened, and the Fed Up discovered that there were many others with their heads out the window yelling too.

In fact, they had an 85% turn out at this last election.

All it took was someone who stood up for the obvious, who stood up for what is right.

Where, oh where might that person be for us?

Buck
Kind of remind you of how we cheered the ex-KGB, Putin, as he came into office in Russia? It does me.

Once KGB, always KGB.

Sarkozy calls it what it is
Ann Coulter said it all! :):)
Best column ever!

merry_go_boy
Yes, God Bless America, please. We have so lost our way and forgotten what our country was intended to be all about. :-(

L I B E R T Y

Geez, Are You People Gullible
The Frogs elect one person who is not a card carrying communist and you are beside yourselves wanting to drink French wine, sing the French Nat'l Anthem and just be palsy-walsy again.
These idiots are world losers on a world stage.
We pulled their azzes out of the fire in WWI and WWII and ever since they have been stabbing us in the back.
DeGaulle the prima-donna demanded a center-stage role in WWII totally out of proportion to French contributions. Remember this, too, before we could liberate the French we had to fight the French and they killed Americans at Casablanca. And how much of the Post WWII debt are they now promising to repay?
The last time the French did anything for us was when they bottled up a British fleet during the Revolutionary War. And that has been repaid in blood several thousand times over.

Fred, the lesson to be learned
is that a candidate that is open and honest (remind you of anyone) can tell it like it is, not appologize for telling it like it is and get elected. The only thing I would do different over there now is to use more force on the rioters.

As Ann Coulter put it in her article on the same subject, Sarkozy actually said that it is fine to come to this country, but you should then abide by this countries rules!! Perhaps a US candidate or President should say the same thing about the illegal immigration mess that we have.

Go after the companies that hire illegals and make the cost/benefit analysis turn to cost more than the benefits of hiring illegals and the jobs will dry up and they will go home on their own, no deportation needed!

How 'bout these apples?
I just don't buy the idea that citizens of France voted in order to appease American concerns. I think they voted on issues specific to France, with little if any thought to how it would be received here. You know, perhaps we are not the center of the universe.

Having said that, I applaud the French election results.

In some ways it is interesting that two of the European nations most threatened by muslim immigration and "islamization" each elected "conservative" leaders(France and Germany). It may be too much to think Europeans are awakening from their slumber, beginning to finally realize their traditions of tolerance and and other Western values are in jeopardy from this demographic avalanche, but hope springs eternal. Maybe they are. Too soon to say for sure.

While I find the drooling adulation among some here toward Fred Thompson as their rightwing savior to be a bit much(I am not convinced he is...especially if he mouths the failed Bush policies on Iraq), I do agree with him that we should make common cause with Europe in our mutual fight against Islam, or Islamofascism, however one defines it.

Toasting Sarcozy might be premature
i'll refrain for a bit on this & instead toast victory over the more socialist (secular-progressive) candidate & the french people that made the better choice...
as with your tentative candidacy, my rousing toast to you will come not when/if you enter the race, or win the nomination or presidency but following Consevative agenda accomplishment.

Let's not get too enthused
for his politics are far more aligned with those of the liberal left in the USA, he's exactly aligned with the Hillary/Obama crowd and an advocate of Al Gore's Global warming.

For all of the talk about jihad and terrorism, don't expect to see him consigning a brigade of the French Foreign Legion to help his "new buddies" who are putting their lives on the line in Iraq, either.

I'm inclined to agree that the French Media, like our own, is the chief miscreant here, the same being true in Germany. As is true here, there are a lot of sheep who just march in step behind the media.

Before we break out the French Champagne, let's pause for his first 100 days and see whether we still want to take to the streets with Vive La France.

Another good column, Fred.
Keep 'em coming.

I'm hoping Republicans are taking notes here; they could learn a lot from Sarkozy.

By the way, if anyone is interested in seeing what Mark Steyn or Jack Kelly has to say about Sarkozy's victory, there are links to both columns here:

French Whine
Now that I had to sign in again to Townhall, with all it's gaffs, I'm a bit impatient.

Let me say it will take a whole lot of sweet grapes to get the taste of French Whine out of my system. Especially since we produce such fine products here in CA.

No doubt much of the urban population of CA leans toward the French ideals, we in the rural areas and 'burbs' think they are Socialists. Actually we know they are.

So I'm looking forward to hearing from my relatives across the pond about their reaction to this. I'm hoping they choke on it.

Sarkozy wins in France
It would bring the USA much comfort if Mr. Sarkozy sincerely stands with us against the violent jihadists both here and abroad. To have French wine used during a toast of Mr. Fred Thompson's successful bid for the next president of our great country would be a fitting touch. May the next 4-6 years be a period of growing mutual appreciation for both nations. (We have to let the media know we're united).

Tell it like it is Fred!
Sarkozy's victory over anti-American political forces in France is great news! Now we need you to become President and run the anti-American crowd out of America!

Run Fred Run!

Let's use..
..American wine to tolerate the dhimicrats' whine.
