Will the Dems' health care Christmas Present to America be an improvement or detriment to our health care system?

Who is the current leader of the Republican Party? No one. But there certainly is someone who wields the most influence over people who agree with the Republican Party platform, and that is Rush Limbaugh .

How so? Because Limbaugh manages to do the three things any leader must do to be successful with a large group of people: he communicates direction, he earns trust, and he evokes desire in people to go in the direction he communicates. Those are the three fundamentals of leadership.

Direction is the essence of leadership. You can’t lead anyone anywhere if you don’t communicate a clear direction. Who in the Republican Party has been communicating clear direction—a direction that is consistent with the Republican ideals of limited government, fiscal restraint, and the protection of life, liberty and self-evident moral values? No one prominent comes to mind. Yet this has been Limbaugh’s consistent message for over twenty years.

The second fundamental of leadership is trust. Even if you communicate the right direction clearly, people will be reluctant to follow if they don’t trust you. Limbaugh has a vast audience that trusts him because he consistently asserts and explains conservative principles. Fewer people trust Republicans these days because about all most of them can be trusted to do is to defy those principles.

The platform declares that the party intends to “constrain the federal government.” Who in the party effectively communicates this and then follows through? With apologies to Senator Coburn, no one prominent. While President Bush thankfully accomplished his most important priority—keeping us safe—he and his fellow Republicans spent like Democrats for eight years. If you can’t trust Republicans to govern as Republicans, the only motivation to vote is negative—“they probably won’t be quite as bad as Democrats.” Is it any wonder why millions of conservatives stayed home in 2008?

The third fundamental of leadership is desire. Followers can know your direction and trust you, but little will be accomplished if you can’t evoke in them a passionate desire to go in the direction you’ve set. This is where Limbaugh excels. Many in his loyal audience of 22 million (more since being singled out by the Obama Administration) say that Rush articulates what they think. In addition to his humorous, direct, and some say, “incendiary” attacks on liberals, Limbaugh often sounds like a motivational speaker declaring that all can succeed in America, especially when we get government off our backs. Republicans seem too afraid to upset the media by championing this conservative direction for America—a winning direction that a majority of Americans actually desire.

According to the oft-repeated bipartisan battleground poll, more Americans identify themselves as conservatives (60%) than liberals (38%). Moreover, the massive commercial success of Limbaugh’s show and conservative talk radio in general is additional evidence that the conservative direction is desirable when articulated properly.

Unfortunately, too many Republicans ignore these facts and the lessons of Reagan. They somehow think that Democrat-lite is their ticket to electoral popularity. It’s not—articulate conservativism is. As the 2008 election showed us, when Republicans offer neither, voters will settle for articulate.

Which leads us to where we are today. We have an articulate president whose direction is clearly wrong for the country. That’s not just an opinion. Obama’s direction is demonstrably wrong because it ignores the repeated lessons of history and adopts a false view of human nature. Socialism has never worked and will never work because it destroys human incentive and creates dependency.

Limbaugh says that Obama knows this and wants to create a culture of dependency that will keep Democrats perpetually in power. If this is true, Obama is taking a leadership page from Joseph Stalin.

While speaking to a group of henchmen one day, Stalin began denuding a chicken that struggled to get away. After Stalin finished the painful process, he placed the now-vulnerable bird at his feet and walked away while dropping breadcrumbs behind him. To everyone’s surprise, the bird he had just tortured followed the dictator around the room. The moral? Stalin gave it: “This is the way to rule the people,” he said. “Did you see how that chicken followed me for food, even though I had caused it such torture? People are like that chicken. If you inflict inordinate pain on them they will follow you for food the rest of their lives."

Indeed, if you don’t want to be bothered with getting people to actually desire your direction, you can rule through pain and fear. Vulnerable chickens will follow. So despite socialist ideas proven to fail, too many chickens are fearfully following Obama off an economic cliff into a debt-ridden welfare state. This is folly! The only way recover lost wealth is to create more wealth. And the only proven way to do that is to incentivize the private sector by cutting tax rates. The government—which creates no wealth—certainly can’t spend our way out of bankruptcy!

Which leads us to this business about wanting Obama to fail. People ask, “Do you agree with everything Mr. Limbaugh says.” Of course not. I don’t agree with everything any mortal says. But I probably agree with 95 percent of what he says. There are some days I don’t even agree with 95 percent of what I say! I make mistakes just like anyone. But I don’t think Limbaugh made a mistake by saying he wants Obama to fail. I want Obama to fail in many areas too. After all, if Obama succeeds:

• We enter a depression because Obama raises taxes on those who provide the jobs—“the rich” (note to the President: the poor don’t hire anyone!);

• Thousands of more babies (and several mothers) will die from abortion and taxpayers will be paying the bill (the “Freedom of Choice Act”);

• Hundreds of religious hospitals will close (there are 664 Catholic hospitals in the U.S. alone), and thousands of doctors will resign, rather than be forced to provide abortions (so much for “choice”);

• Workers will have their right to a private union vote revoked (the deceptively-named “Employee Free Choice Act”);

• A few unelected justices in one state will impose their view of marriage on the nation’s three hundred million other citizens (Obama wants to gut the “Defense of Marriage Act”);

• Through the “Employment Non-Discrimination Act,” churches and private citizens will be forced to hire people who behave in ways that violate their religious and moral principles (so much for “tolerance”);

• Unprecedented debt and dependency will crush lives and incentive for generations to come.

For the sake of the country and our future, let’s hope Obama fails in these areas. I pray for the President, but I also pray that articulate conservatives in politics will begin to lead like conservatives in talk radio.

Clinton was like a Rep. Bush like a Dem
I always thought Clinton took the Republicans ideas and made them work. He left office with the best financial stability in my lifetime. Perhaps Bush saved my life, I will never know. But he spent like Obama.

TownhallPlus.com

Bush was Liberal Lite
however, never intended to crash the country. Had he foreseen the problems, I'm sure he would have taken stronger steps not to throw a down and out country to the Democrats.

Ovomit and the
government, now controlled by him and his Communist henchmen in congress.Mirror this quote by Joseph Stalin.

"America is like a healthy body and its resistance is threefold: its patriotism, its morality, and its spiritual life. If we can undermine these three areas, America will collapse from within."

Down The Socialist Engineer's Agenda !

Hey,if Obama and his Acolytes want to take on Limbaugh and his listeners ,let's have at it and see ,who's still standin' when the smoke clears.

Americans are already moving into A Legal and Proper Rebellion against The Socialist Engineering of Obama and his Henchmen.

We're gonna have this out in one form or another and This Particular Recessionary Period is The Catalyst.

The match has already been struck and We are moving into Rebellion.

Up The Rebellion !

Maybe the Stalin chicken tale
is apocryphal. I'd expect the chicken to run and hide.

Geez Louise, Denise
I've been waiting for an excuse to say that, and you've more than earned it. How did you get your Dr Dooberry clone out there first on at least 3 threads? Imper-ressive!!!

I'm going to have to clean up my act. I used to be careful and show respect by avoiding calling people names. I find myself writing Dr Dooberry, and Dumbo without a qualm. I guess its because i don't want their respect. And moreover, i want them to know they don't have mine. I suspect i am succeeding. Did you catch Frank's reponse yesterday to what i thought was a very mild and polite post?

I noted your civil response to Tabitha917. She seems to be far more representative of the Democratic voters i know personally, than the unpleasant ideologues who form the majority of the left wing posters. It is people like Tabitha that must change their views of government for this country to have a chance.

not without a teleprompter
"We have an articulate president whose direction is clearly wrong for the country."
Please stop perpetuating this myth. This guy is not articulate - he "gives good teleprompter". Without every scripted word before him he is a hmming, erring, "you knowing" fool.

Turek asks
The platform declares that the party intends to “constrain the federal government.” Who in the party effectively communicates this and then follows through?

One man: Ron Paul.

My one wish for Obama
cannot be printed on a public forum.

This orgy of Keynesian debt that is now subjecting my toddler-age children to 'taxation without representation' is an obscenity.

The failed policies of yesteryear are not going to get this country's economy moving again. You simply cannot borrow your way to prosperity. yet the political classes trumpet this lie because it goes hand in glove with increasing the power of the rulers.

RON PAUL WAS RIGHT...but he didn't go far enough.

It's past time for talking, ballots have failed.

It's time for a revolution, with real bullets. What is a free nation for your children worth to you?

Fire the President
Besides being very liberal the media is hamstrung by its political correctness and its reluctance to criticize a black president. We have to strip away this camouflage and criticize President Obama just like any other president, Republican or Democrat.

Of course, when this happens, and it will, his supporters are going to cry racism. Just as the Dallas Cowboys had to rid themselves of Terrell Owens, not because he was black but because he was a disruptive force in the organization, we voters have to fire the most incompetent, subversive president in the history of the U.S.

It has nothing to do with his personality or his skin color, it has everything to do with his performance and stated intentions. We need to push back, unite voters, and redress the incredible bad decision made last November by many ignorant voters and some ruthless Marxist leaders.

BETTER DEAD THAN RED!
If Stalin, Krushchev, Brezhnev and the mighty nuclear armed USSR couldn't bury the land of the free and the home of the brave with socialism then the Three Blind Mice in Washington: Obama, Pelosi and Reid don't have a prayer. For we are Conservative America and we'd rather be DEAD THAN RED!

Ron Jones, Jerseyvet
I concur.

I Just Don't Trust the Republican Party
I voted for G.W. twice, and would consider doing it again, considering the choices available at the time. Unfortunately, the GOP, including the Pres. and Congress, did spend like a bunch of drunken sailors. Hard to put my trust in socialism lite as opposed to socialism. It's going to take a long period of conservative action to earn it again. If ever.

Had Ron Paul been registered as a write-in candidate in Michigan last fall, I would have voted for him. As it was, I voted for Alan Keyes.

Conservatism is not dead. It needs to get re-organized and find dedicated public servants.

Man Up Obuma
So, the small minded Dems want to take on Rush? Then have at it. Rush has challenges Obuma to a debate, but he laughs it off. Typical Lib, cannot defend their ideas but are very good at trashing anyone who does not agree with them. Ala Denise in the first post. Nice defense of your mesiah's ideas there, Denise! Name calling defends nothing, but then again when your ideas are indefensible, idiots resort to attacks. So predictable....
Rush would grind Obuma up like so much sausage, and Obuma knows it and most people who have ever listened to Rush knows this. Rush is not the leader of the Repubs, he is the leader of the conservatives, there is a difference folks.
The RNC should do everything it can to oppose and block any support or money to any Repub who has voted for any of these anti-American Obuma bills and spending plans. They should support any Repub who runs against them in any primary anywhere. It is time to weed these week kneed losers from the party, or else start a conservative party and have reps who actually support our ideas, not vote to be accepted by a crooked media and beltway "buddies".

Limbaugh, Stalin, etc.
Are there any articulate conservative politicians?

It's not about who someone is but ...
how they behave.

"Through the “Employment Non-Discrimination Act,” churches and private citizens will be forced to hire people who behave in ways that violate their religious and moral principles (so much for “tolerance”)"

There are no such people as "homosexuals" that are born that way. There are people who act homosexually. Homosexuality is a behavior not an inherent biological trait.

It is a bad idea to make public policy on affirming someone's abberant behavior. Forcing people to accept it violates our freedom of conscience.

Great read!!!
Mr. Turek has the right message. The question remains; who is that voice and where are they hiding?

CPAC was a big disappointment this year with nothing but the usual suspects.

Jim DeMint has the message but he is being ignored by his own party leadership. He should replace McConnell so he can get the national exposure needed for a 2012 run.

After Katrina
I watched neighborhood men come out of their garages with chain saws and clear out streets of huge tree trunks in one morning. Self-reliant. That same morning I listened to others whine on the radio when is the government going to save us? I believe some people already model the Stalin chickens.

Denise from LA You are right
Obama is:
Disgraceful
Dishonest
A Liar
Hateful
A Racist
A Homophile
Talks BS
POS
And a Smear

How does Rahm Emmanuel
plan to take advantage of a "global crisis"?

OBAMA is not articulate
OBAMA is not articulate.

All we have to do in looking for a leader is find the Conservative with a voice quality that can compete with OBAMA's. NOT high and SQUEAKY.

TO: TownhallPlus.com
Don't forget, Clinton had Republicans in charge of the house for the last six years of his administration. The president does not write the budget. (Well, Republican presidents did, but I don't remember Clinton submitting any budgets to the Republicans).

I think Republicans tried to pick off some Democrat support by taking the middle ground; but they lost more than they gained because Dems mostly care about what you are called, and Reps mostly care about what you do.

Obama Is A Fiction Character
The news media made up his fictional character to manipulate the election.

If he was as great as they claim where is the great rare intelligence they claim he has.

He can't seem to find good, moral people to fill his cabinet posts. Maybe he's not looking for good, moral individuals and has no interest iin what you think of his choices because he believes the hype that has made him?

THE ROAD TO SOCIALIZED MEDICINE
When soon to be taxed, employee 'health care' insurance premium benefits (which means the employee will be taxed on whatever the amount the employer pays for an employees monthly insurance premium) and if government mandates that companies must give employees a 'choice' between private or government plans, guess what will happen. Employers will end their 'health care' insurance benefits completely, telling employees to secure their own insurance with either private or government health care plans. Most Americans cannot financially afford private individual health insurance, which is much higher than 'group' insurance offered to companies. So, most Americans will be forced to to get coverage through the government.
Most likely, large private Health Insurance Companies will, like the banks, be Nationalized and subject to government control.
This is the liberal left road to Socialized Medicine. And the end of the road will also be the end of the Nursing Profession.

Two points...
- We need to yell frequently and loudly at a media that is aiding and abetting government censorship (especially crude pro-censorship imagery such as that at Newsweek http://worldnetdaily.com/index.php?fa=PAGE.view&pageId=915 23)

- We need to ask the following, in every public forum: "If Rush Limbaugh is so bad for conservatism, why is it that liberals are the ones so frightened of him?"

YES!
As a Democrat, and an Obama supporter, I encourage all Republicans to follow this guy's advice.

Right wing talk radio hosts are morons. (Notice how Rush Limbaugh never debates anyone.) They want to be able to spout their nonsense without being called on it. When is the last time you heard a prominent talk radio host debate a prominent liberal about the economy? I listen to talk radio every day and I can't recall the last time.

Know why they don't debate?

Because they know that their arguments will lose.

Tax cuts?

Now?

Seriously?

What would that do to the nation's debt?

That's right.

It would increase the debt.

What would that do to the world's confidence in America?

That's right.

It would shatter it. And then we'd be in real trouble.

And what would rich people do with their tax cuts?

That's right.

They would buy t-bills or gold.

And what would that do to stimulate the economy?

That's right.

NOTHING!

All you people who think that the government can't create wealth should go talk to some business owners around a military base and ask them.

The problem is not a lack of leadership. The problem is that Republican ideas have been proven to be as extreme and ineffective as Communism.

You people will go no where if you continue with the same failed strategy. Which is why I couldn't endorse this column more whole heartedly. It'll give the rest of us a chance to get this country back on track to prosperity.

Phylo out.

Kindred Fire
Frank Turek's piece is good, and the commenters sniffing rebellion are right.

What's needed next is a public call for Obama's resignation on the grounds of fraud in the 2008 election. Here's one place to find it: http://www.brushfire-of-freedom.com/resign.html.

Rush probably won't go there, at least not on his own. But he'd love it if the public call for resignation reached enough mass to require comment. And then watch out. The left wouldn't know what hit them. They are used to intellectual arguments, fought on the op-ed pages. When moral clarity enters the picture, watch for a run for the exits.

FABIUS C: OBAMA & BROWN
Obama and Brown were scheduled to hold a joint press conference which was canceled allegedly because of the weather-it was snowing that day. The real reason for the cancelation-it wasn't snowing in the White House-was Obama's fear of being overshadowed by the more gifted PM and made to look like the puny man that he is. After faring poorly in his press conference with Canada's Stephen Harper Obama couldn't bear the humiliation of appearing with Brown.

Click my name and read: "Bush, Brown and Obama's Inferiority Complex" for more insight.

Chris
First you are incorrect. Gay people are born that way. Did you ever speak to a gay person about this or did you just draw this conclusion on your own. And know about freedom. You have the freedom to not like the idea of gay marrage, you have the freedom to think it is wrong. But should you have the freedom to prevent gays from coveting the same rights that you have? No you should not, not in a free society.

Part of freedom is tolerance of what your neighbor does as long as his rights don't violate your rights. If gays were calling for an end to straight marrage then you would have an issue. Otherwise you should keep your sticking nose out of their business. Thats is what limited government means.

Phylo..........
listen to Hugh Hewitt.........kind of like the closeted gaypatriot.org site. Who can forget Hugh's mancrush for Mitt Romney?

I want obama to fail
I want him to fail on his domestic agenda. He has all ready fail in the war, and foreign policy. That is the one area he needed to succeed. I do not want everything to be gov controled. When the gov. controls everything, they control you.
Kirk

Obama has enabled
Democrats to star in their very own porno movie, "Democrats Gone Wild." Tax-and-spend has come to your neighborhood and will bring the glories of Chicago slums to all of America.

The employer based healthcare system has been in crisis for years. It is not only choking big businesses but also small businesses. Our costs are much higher than any other industrialized nation, our health statistics are much lower than all of Europe and we have many people who have no coverage. Everyday people lose everything because they get sick and many are people with insurance.

This is not a new problem, but Bush and the Republicans did notthing to address this issue. So instead of throwing around stupid words like Socialism, I would like a conservative to honestly tell us how they would address this problem. Even the AMA supports univeral healthcare and so do most national nursing associations.

What conservatives are doing here is putting rigid ideology ouver common sense. Here is a piece of news for you. In Europe even the conservatives support their systems, they did oppose the on conception, because they work and have wide support.

But no- Canada, UK, France, Hong Kong, Japan, Switzerland, etc. What are all doing is evil.

JMO51.............
Gay people are not born that way. And when the liberal bodies of the APA(s) and the ABA take MRI polygraphs to provide the empirical data that has been suppressed since the initial codification of fraud into the ALIMPC in 1955 based on the musings of the sadomasochistic psychopath, Alfred Kinsey, we can call the soft sciences legitimate science based on empirical fact instead of by the consensus of neurotic individuals. The LGBT community is a farce. Even John Hopkins University recognized that gender reassignment surgery does not cure gender identity disorder. I'm sure you could find numerous straight people to be used as the control group, but the LGBT community will fight toooth and nail to prevent the exposure of the fraud perpetrated on the U.S. by the collusion of neurotic legal and medical professionals attempting to normalize neurotic behavior and its associated paraphilias.

phylo
Have you ever heard of Mike Gallager, Mike Medved, Bill Bennet,Laura Ingram. The list could go onand on. The Idea that conservatives wont debate is a lie. I would Ann Coulter or Daved Horwits, or any of the above aganst you POTHUS (Rush to)and with out his telaprompter he would get killed. To all please forgive any incorect spelling of names, or anyone I might have missed.

DHulme
I hear Hewitt once in a while. He's always good for a laugh. The guy has no respect for the truth. I mean ZERO. I remember when he was saying that we actually found the weapons of mass destruction in Iraq. I'm sure he still believes that Iraq had something to do with Islamic terrorism, too.

How can a party be as wrong as the Republicans have and still garner 30% of the population?

Spending trillions blowing up and rebuilding Iraq? Yes!

Spending a trillion to fix our infrastructure and rescue our own economy? No way, that's socialism!

I think the problem is that most Republicans don't know how to think for themselves. Guys like Limbaugh speak with great confidence. They SOUND like they know what they are talking about. So the nit wits follow them blindly, emotionally, unquestioningly.

I'm able to laugh now that they are out of power, but if this crowd ever gets into power again, the country is doomed.

For Those Not In The Know

My first post was a spoof on Dr. Douglas, who ALWAYS writes the exact same thing about EVERY article written by EVERY author EVERY day.

I am a fiscally-conservative (Constitutionalist) Independent, who detests Barack Mugabe.

A good speaker?
i don't consider our President to be a good speaker. I have not heard so many audible pauses since I was a high school freshman in my first year of debate. I am struggling to understand whay anyone thinks he is a good speaker. He can speak moderately well when aided by a teleprompter but without a teleprompter he is humiliting himself.

Kirk
When is the last time any of those bozos debated someone on the economy. I'm talking a serious debate, for an hour. I would put Thom Hartman up against any of those people. It would be a joke.

And the teleprompter meme is silly. Watch his next press conference. Anyone who saw the last one knows that Obama dominated the room. He won every debate he was in in the primaries and the general election. How you can STILL believe that he can't speak without a teleprompter is beyond me.

Actually, Phylo
I can't disagree with your viewpoint, except to say that the liberal aspects of the Democrats and Republicans are despicable and antisocial in nature. But we both know Obama is manipulating the ignorant among us, what remains to be seen is whether the republic remains or we see a rise in national socialism.

Phylo Se Fiser
The country is doomed due to the destructive policies of Obama. We can only hope the Republicans can return to power ... and follow their principals. that is our hope.

Obama is no socialist
Just ask a real socialist if Obama is a socialist. Real socialists want to nationalize the banks, and probably the airlines and the oil companies, and the energy companies, and more.

Obama doesn't WANT to nationalize the banks. He simply had no choice. Allowing those big banks to fail would've collapsed the world economy. Even George Bush agrees with that. But then I suppose you folks think Bush is a socialist, too. Sheesh!

SOCIALISM WORKS FOR SOME

.....It works in ant hills and bee hives where the individual is expendable and the collective is supreme ...

.....It works in some human societies as well ...for the elite rulers (Mussolini,
Stalin, Mao ...it is a smashing success) ...for the plebes who are content to survive as wards of the State, it is also acceptable ...it only fails for those with ambition who want to benefit from the fruit of their own labor and to be able to advance to the limit of their abilities ...

Since you are certain that gays are NOT born gay, I would appreciate your describing the tortuous decision-making time when you decided to forego gay sex and engage only in heterosexual sex.

It was obviously a difficult decision for you, and I'm sure you would like to share the various considerations that made you finally, if reluctantly, decide to be heterosexual. And you might add which considerations you believe gays ignored when they decided NOT to be heterosexual.

Decisions have consequences; for gays, so many are negative consequences. What in the world influences their decision, do you suppose?

So far, every time taxes have been cut (Kennedy, Reagan, Bush), tax REVENUE has increased. In the case of Reagan, tax revenue DOUBLED from the day he took office to the day he left.

Unfortunately, congressional spending increased MORE than revenue increased. Under Reagan, it was the Democrats; under Bush it was both Republicans and Democrats.

You DO know that the economy grew around 3% for the first six years of Bush's presidency, don't you? This despite 9/11, which the Islamic terrorists thought would end our economy (who knew it would actually bring us together). All bets were off when Nancy Pelosi and Harry Reid (along with Barney Frank and Maxine Waters et al) took over. Under Bush + Republicans, stock market was up, unemployment was down. Since Dems took over...not so much.

We'll see what happens when B.O. attacks the productive to support the unproductive. Sounds good, doesn't it.

thinks that Clinton left office with the best financial stability in his lifetime. Nonsense. Do you remember that dot com bubble and the recession that followed?? The Dow dropped from 11,200 to 7600. Just about one third of our savings went down in flames. Some stability.

GOP's Problem
Shelby Steele has a very interesting column about why conservatives can't recruit minorities in the Wall Street Journal today. I urge conservative THallers to read it. It can be found here http://online.wsj.com/article/SB123716282469235861.html

Thos. Paine was a pamphleteer during the Revolutionary War period who through pampheleets simplified the complicated issues.

Rush does it on the radio.

I don't understand why my spell check keeps giving me Osama when I type Obama. Is there something it knows that I don't?

PROOF OBAMA IS A SOCIALIST
Obama's senate voting record was to the LEFT of REGISTERED SOCIALIST Sen. Bernie Sanders.

Phylo
How's B.O. doing on that "make the rest of the world like us again" thing?

What do you think of the cap and trade idea that will raise prices on energy--which means on everything--through the roof, as Obama has promised.

Were you pleased when Obama canceled the drilling contracts in Utah which Bush had negotiated? Do you look forward to $5/gal. gasoline, as Obama said was desirable? Do you think the carbon dioxide that you exhale is a dangerous pollutant? (And if so, what are you doing about it?)

Does it bother you that terrorists and thugs (I mean the overseas types) are crawling out of the woodwork and flaunting their power to kill innocents, apparently with little to fear from the big, bad United States?

Does it bother you at all that Obama can't seem to find appointees that have actually followed tax (and other) laws?

Obama is certainly bringing "change." And much more quickly than I had feared.

Obama's Union Program
Same WSJ issue in my prior post carries an editorial pointing out Obama's program to enhance union power to the point where it cripples economies as in la belle France.

oldtimer
I think it's because NO ONE had heard of Obama until a couple of years ago. I'm sure Obama isn't just Osama with a "b."

Obama isn't encouraging anyone to kill themselves to destroy the U.S. It's so much neater to do it politically, utilizing Saul Alinski's Rules.

Frank Turek
You are so clearly asleep at the wheel. If the
Republican Party is to survive, what it clearly
cannot do is remain static.

Limbaugh never was good for the party, even
though he was its spokesman and even though he
helped people win. Limbaugh is a man
of hate and separateness, a man of greed and
little charity, and man who represents the worst aspects of the American species.

It took a man who was hugely different to
finally open people's eyes wide enough to see
the light. He is not white, he is not old,
he is not inbred, he is not Waspish down to
his very name, he is not stuck in a rut, he is
not me-first, last and only, he is not afraid
of the world.

We have someone now who is good for America.
That the navel gazers are afraid of him, will
attack him with every ridiculous argument,
(from "he isn't a citizen" to "he is a Muslim"
to "he speaks and the stock market topples
never to rise again."), will stockpile their
ammunition for the coming revolution (which
they will attempt to create) is not surprising
to so many of us.

The Democrats are ready to participate in the
21st Century. The Republicans are not.

LAURA
Laura writes:

He (Obama) can speak moderately well when aided by a teleprompter but without a teleprompter he is humiliating himself.

Very true. Because he couldn't use a teleprompter Obama wouldn't do a news conference with the very eloquent, more intelligent Gordon Brown. Brown was just too intimidating for Obama's poor, soft, gentle sensitive soul.

Phylo
I just noticed that you said rich people would just "buy T-bills or gold" with their tax cuts.

Are you equating T-bills with gold??? T-bills are loans to the government. Gold is not.

Rich people would have to put their tax cuts under the mattress to avoid stimulating the economy with their "excess" money. If they foolishly go out and buy things and start businesses, they'll increase employment and GDP. Eeeewwwwww!!! DO NOT GIVE TAX CUTS TO THE RICH! Letting them keep more of their own money is just WRONG.

A wise old saying
heard all over the internet, around the world.

The stupider the case, the quicker the names
of either Stalin or Hitler will come into play.

The word Gay
The word gay is a misinterpitation of what a homosexual actually is. The Bible says that God has given up on them because of their sin. See Romans chap. 1 verses 26 throug 29. So yo see, lust for a person of the same sex is due to sin and not through some natural desire and comes due to sin in that person's life. It doesn't matter that you don't believe that because truth is what it is and doesn't change because you don't believe it.

ApolloSpeaks
You NEED an inferiority complex.

And Obama is doing quite well, thank you, without your advice or consent.

Tammy
WASP = White Anglo-Saxon Protestant. You are right, Obama is only half white-Anglo-Saxon and the does not appear to be a Protestant at all. He does not appear to be bright enough to be afraid of the world. He does not appear to be bright enough to interact with our allies, either. He does not seem to be having a uniting effect with our enemies. He also seems not to have ANY friends who don't hate America (or for that matter, who have paid their taxes).

And YOU have clearly never listened to Rush Limbaugh.

Jerseyvet
During a week long Spring Break/vacation I had
the opportunity to catch up on reading, including WSJ which I rarely read.

What caught my eye in WSJ is that I expected them to be harsher on Obama than they are.
(They may be owned by old Rupert, but
they are a far cry better than Fox Propaganda).

As for France's crippled economy, it is not
more crippled than ours. What's your point?

WASP = White Anglo-Saxon Protestant. You are right... etc. etc. etc.

****

What can I say. You are so dumb, so ill-
informed. So late,great, Republican.

Welcome to the new world. Hope you can handle
it.

Polly,
unequivocally, women are not born gay. If I could have given you normal, instead of the neurotic parents you had, I would have. It's immaterial as to whether you had one or two parents, but I have no doubt that your female caretaker was extremely neurotic.

As for being born that way, all children of single neurotic women are bisexual or gay, unless the father is straight and has no difficulty in addressing the neuroses associated with the LGBT population. Then, in as much as the LGBT professional community hates it, the straight father can prevent his children from engaging in LGBT neurotic behavior. But that's not the issue, Polly, when are you and LGBT professionals going to provide replicable, empirical data to support "born that way"? I'll settle for replicable, MRI polygraphs. Then the extent of "borderline" caretaker environments and the borderline children will be known. No child should have to suffer being emotionally, physically, or sexually abused by his or her neurotic parents.

Tammy
Yep, you're right. Stupid people all over the U.S. called Bush "Hitler." And Bush was NOT a charismatic leader, like Hitler was.

And Obama will continue to do "quite well" as long as his teleprompter holds up and the mainstream media continue cheerleading for him.

He'll probably do even better as soon as he puts in place his National Security forces, as well-funded and well-trained as the military. Germans loved the brown-shirts; Americans will, too--OR ELSE.

Hey Polly...
Gon't waste your time with Phylo. He is still spouting the same old BULL$HIT that he was spouting weeks ago.
Phylo still has not answered my post about ISLAMIC TERRORISTS in IRAQ from 3 weeks ago. He is simple minded. A total waste of space.

Tammy
That is a very wise saying!!! Why do conservatives think that socialization only means Hitler and Stalin? Give me a break, let us not forget that it was the previous "Republican" administration that tortured people, abducted foreign nationals, invaded a country that had never attacked us, threatened to attack us and did not have the means to attack us, subsequently killing 90,000 of its people. I think that is more closely related to Hitler and Stalin than socialized health care and so on.

DHulme
Sorry, sweety, but I'm heterosexual.

Can you believe it, I still don't believe gays made a choice. I know lots of gays, most of them very intelligent. Too intelligent to choose a lifestyle that would cause them nothing but trouble for the rest of their lives.

I still await your description of your "time of choosing."

Rush Limbaugh has already challenged Odumbo to a debate. Rush would provide transportation and a forum, so it wouldn't cost taxpayers for Odumbo to attend.

Wade
Yeah, Wade, Tammy just DRIPS wisdom.

You missed the report saying that we did NOT "torture."

You missed B. Clinton's announcement in 1998, surrounded by smiling, cheering Dems, that our new police in Iraq would be regime change.

You've obviously missed the fact that Iraqis--the actual citizens--are now controlling their own destiny and could feasibly be a strong ally in the Middle East.

And you've missed the fact that Obama is busily offending our current strongest allies, while failing at making friends with our enemies.

CHANGE we can believe in. If we're Obamabots.

The French ec. is always crippled
All the socialist countries of Europe accept 10-13% unemployment, over which we would have riots in the streets.

They don't want business or *predatory* capitalism. Of course, the Sweden the Big O wants for his O Land has cradle-to-grave state sponsorship, but the gov't has no money. Young people are leaving for Ireland and the freed Eastern bloc with flat taxes.

They also all brag they have no homeless--well, as a frequent visitor to relatives in Ger., you can find the homeless under bridges and in tunnels, just where the ordinary tourist doesn't see them.

Fr. also has riots continuously in the suburbs of Paris where many Muslims reside. We ony hear about them when our lib. press is forced to face some terrible event. Fr. has never tried to integrate its Muslim-Arab population, and despite socialist *brotherhood,* the Fr. consider the immigrants second-class citizens and throw more money at them the bigger a threat they are.

In Frankfort, GE, streets are in Arabic, soap operas are in Arabic, and many places are not recommended for German promenading. This is partly the result of using immigrants for labor the Germans won't do themselves.

In Eng., a GNP of 1% is a booming ec. It's National Health is overwhelmed with an elderly pop. the system from post-WW II was not designed to handle. Don't get kidney failure at 70, you don't get dialysis.

Italy can barely keep a gov't for a year and in GE, again, the Greens have voted the end of nuclear plant building, which runs a 1/3 of the country. There is no gas or coal; ergo, when nuclear runs out, so will Germ. power.

My relatives all go to Switzerland to shop and buy gas.

Lets look at the dictionary...
SOCIALISM: 1) Any of various economic and political theories advocating collective or governmental ownership and administration of the means of production and distribution of goods(aka:"spread the wealth around"). 2) a: a system of society or group living in which there is no private property. b: a system or condition of society in which the means of production are owned and controlled by the state.

Yep, sounds identical to Obama's stated policies and beliefs.

Not only that, but Barack Hussein Obama hangs out with terrorists, negotiates with terrorists, apologizes to terrorists, sends U.S. taxpayer money to terrorist groups, and free's captured terrorists. Folks, I can only conclude that Obama is, himself, a TERRORIST.
And he's attacking our economy and he is all smiles.

Wade in OH
Could you please share with us a statement Rush Limbaugh made that makes him a "bigot" as you claim? It's our new president who says "NO WHITE MEN NEED APPLY".

Sorry polly I meant Tammy
My bad!!!!!!

We invaded a country that was under
UN sanction, had 17 UN rules violation, was abrogating a treaty it had with us, was REALLY torturing (remember rape rooms and throwing infans off buildings as their parents watched?),killing its own citizens by the thousands, and posed a threat to the rest of the Middle East. Remember Kuwait? The Iraq-Iran War?

No? Maybe you don't remember that after WW II, we said, "Never again" to letting a tyrannical gov't that was terroristic thrive when world interests were involved.

The Sen. voted in 1998 98-0 for regime change in Iraq (at Bill CLinton's request) and voted 87-12-1 in 2003 for the incursion.

If the ONLY Arab-Muslim democracy develops int the center of the MidEast, historians will look at Bush as a genius. And the anti-war cabal that would like to see the US defeated in any way will be less than a historical footnote.

Mike Steele certainly is not the republican leader. He is another RINO. We don't have any leadership other that what is being provided by Limbaugh.

I think it is time we conservatives make a serious effort at forming a third party. It is obvious the republicans are going the same way as the democrats and they are not the answer.

Obama's Accomplishments.
In just seven short weeks, President Obama has taken great steps to turn our economy around, making the tax system more fair, attempted to engage our enemies in peaceful talks, reduced the threat of attacks from abroad, opened up the potential for major medical advances, create a saftey net for all Americans, and plans cutting our deficit in half by 2012.

Obama has laid the historic groundwork for everyone in America to have the right of access to free medical care, education, housing, and jobs.

It is time to stop partisan politics and understand the wonderful job Obama is doing on all our behalf. We are witnessing history in the making.

Maybe you forget the U.N. said NO to an invasion because there was a lack of proof for WMD's. Turn out they were right.
Maybe you forget that we don't govern the world.
Maybe you forget that we have decades worth of treaties that say we don't torture. By your logic, the world has a right to invade us and kill Americans.
Do you think 90,000 is worth 1 and do you think it was our call to make? If Iraq asked us to rid them of their tyranny then OK but they didn't.

You wrote: "The employer based healthcare system has been in crisis for years....
This is not a new problem, but Bush and the Republicans did nothing to address this issue. So instead of throwing around stupid words like Socialism, I would like a conservative to honestly tell us how they would address this problem."

Simple: (1) Cut the lawyers out of the loop. Real tort reform would reduce healthcare costs immensely.

(2) Reduce federal regulation. A medical-equipment engineer told my brother that they spent full half of their time taking care of endless federal regulations when they develop medical equipment. That is one of the reasons that things like MRI machines, CT scanners, and the like are so freaking expensive.

(3) Make medical "insurance" a taxable benefit. When this happened, everyone would immediately switch from the current idiotic system, where a third party pays everything, to getting catastrophic-coverage insurance only, and paying the smaller things out of pocket. (The reason this would happen is that given the opportunity, if health insurance were taxed just like regular income, most people would choose to take $6K in catastrophic insurance and $6K in money, rather than $12K worth of the current pay-for-everything "insurance.") This would lead to people shopping for health care services, and the market pressures would drive healthcare costs down rapidly.

Problem solved. New problems made, of course; but there always are new problems. Socialism would give us the idiocy of a system like Canada's or England's, where you wait months for treatment. More importantly, it would greatly reduce innovation, because the profits would not be there unless the gov't is willing to pay for them. Evan Puff Daschle admitted that last one.

+4, Lowest To Date

The Rasmussen Reports daily Presidential Tracking Poll for Monday shows that 36% of the nation’s voters now Strongly Approve of the way that Barack Obama is performing his role as President. Thirty-two percent (32%) now Strongly Disapprove giving Obama a Presidential Approval Index rating of +4, his lowest rating to date.

Thank you for your admission that you are a socialist.
Your statement, "Obama has laid the historic groundwork for everyone in America to have the right of access to free medical care, education, housing, and jobs" says it all.
That is SOCIALISM. You have a welfare mentality and support stealing. Let me give you a little clue, Dr. Nothing is "free" as you claim. Somebody somewhere has to pay for it. Do you mean doctors will work for "free"? Then how in the hell do they get paid? And it is the duty of NO taxpaying American to pay the bills for foreigners and illegal immigrants, hippies and other parasites. The government cannot spend the money unless it first seizes it from a hardworking TAXPAYING American from the PRIVATE SECTOR. You've got to be the dumbest doctor I have ever heard.

Observation
It appears that Republicans are just as accountable (ownership) for having divided this country, as much as liberals.

Both parties have, instead of upholding personal freedom, pushed their ideological agendas and sought power through government by which to indoctrinate and impose on others their specific way of living.

The recent comment by Hannity to Stossel on Friday calling him a "Libertarian" as though liberty, freedom & free choice precepts are something to be disdained by Americans.

Republicans cannot know where they are going unless they own what they are doing.

Republicans have greater capacity and health to self-evaluate and self-correct, but will they?

Republicans can pull more AMERICANS into their party if they would end their subjective, personal and ideological behavior & choices which seek to infringe on the freedoms and choices of others.

There are ways to deal with gay marriage, abortion, school vouchers and other important issues to their foundations, but they would have to own that they are behaving like liberals when they attempt to control, manipulate and regulate behavior through legislation & the court system – the very behavior they disdain from liberals.

We’ll see the level of health Republicans have over the next 20 months and how bad do they want freedom for self and other Americans.

Is freedom only available to those with whom you agree?

Rush Limbaugh is consistent, if he is nothing else.

I have listened to Rush's consistency for 18 years, and it has been free of any of the lies these NObama worshipping neo-Marxist un-American libturds attempt to paint him with.

I on the other hand have listened to these neo-Marxist un-American DemwitOCrap libturds consistently spew nothing but lies for better than 40 years now.

The new underground economy
When the republicans are moving the real jobs off shore and importing foreign workers and then expect the American workers to support the cheap labor with higher taxes on our labor and property this puts the American worker at a disadvantage.

The democrats want to destroy the economy for green reasons.

The green machines will be built off shore and then shipped back to the USA to be installed by cheap Mexican labor.

The coal we can’t burn to generate electricity in the United States because of global warming reasons will be sold and shipped to generate power in Asia to keep the our old jobs going.

So the whole mess is just a lie and the republicans and Democrats are just fighting for control and profits of the global economy.

The American worker has limited choices.

Stop buying, Avoid paying taxes, stop investing in Wall Street,And start thinking of ways to buy, sell and trade with out the governments consent.

I know many Canadians and they are unanimously in favor--strong favor--of their health care system. CATSCATS
I agree, all HEALTHY people love their socialized medicine. It's only when they actually need treatment that they flee to the U.S.

Let the campaign begin
A story in the Washington Post this morning says that Barack Obama is "enlisting" the 13 million people on his campaign email list to help push his agenda.

It is clear that there is no love loss between Obama and Limbaugh. Further, everytime Limbaugh's name is used in an article here on Townhall, the liberal gutter snipes come out like worms after a rain. They are to be ignored and flushed back into the sewer where they belong.

Obama was successful during the last campaign in getting his "volunteer lobbyists" to help him get his way. Do not engage them. Do not respond to their juvenile taunts. Do not allow them to suck you into their slime pit by playing their game, they are irrevelant.

The comments between liberal agitators and genuine posters on this site resemble a school yard shouting match. Do not empower them, ignore them and reinforce your message with each other. Shut the liberal smut mouths out.

Obama's Failures
1) There is nothing fair about a tax system that places the majority of the tax burden on a small minority of the people. Obama champions it.

2) There is nothing fair about a tax system that intends to take more than 25% of anyone's income, let alone 40% or more. Obama champions it.

3) Obama has placed the nation in generational debt with his so-called 'stimulus package that put huge amounts of money into the government, rather than the private economy, thereby failing to help the economy.

4) Obama failed to represent ALL of the people, to include the Conservatives of this nation. Because Conservatives feel disenfranchised, they are now becoming activist.

5) Obama failed to understand that the style of his rhetoric can keep a nation in economic turmoil, or it can relieve that turmoil. This is pure generosity, the alternative is to believe that Obama has deliberately tanked the economy to serve his own selfish political agenda.

6) Obama has failed to make the nation safer than it was under Bush, by decreeing that GITMO will no longer be used as a military detention facility and not having a suitable alternative.

7) Obama has failed to make the nation safer than it was under Bush by failing to understand that the terrorists are more than just criminals, they are enemy combatants.

8) Obama has failed to uphold with dignity and respect, our alliance with Great Britain, by his absolutely insane treatment of the British PM and his insulting 'gifts'.

9) Obama has failed to prove his actual legal birth status by disclosing a notorized birth certificate and his academic financial records, thereby leaving our military in a state of uncertainty as to the actual legal status of the orders they recieve, as well as denying millions of American citizens the right to be sure that their President is in fact, their legal representative.

Wade(ing) in sludge
Knee-jerk leftist cliche-mongering in its lowest form. No conservatives say socialism only means Hitler and Stalin. It also includes Pol Pot, Mao, and Kim Il Sung. By definition it's coercive and incompatible with individual rights.

Next, what "Republican" tortured anyone? Don't bother jabbering about a 14-second waterboarding session for an Islamist mass-murderer, saving much innocent life. Waterboarding causes panic, not pain (which is the sine qua non of torture). If you want to see real torture, go to one of your socialist paradises like North Korea (or any African country of your choice), where those disfavored by the government are hung on meat hooks and worked over with a blowtorch and a pair of pliers or fed feet first into a wood chipper. Is it "torture" for a cancer victim to die a painful death because some socialist bureaucrat denies them proper treatment?

"Socialized health care" is a witless euphemism for government-controlled health care, where politicians and bureaucrats coercively determine who get what type of health care, based on whatever enhances the power of the dictators.

CATSCATS
Irrespective of your position, what you don't get is this:

America is about freedom and free choice. Live your life at no cost to others without their consent.

Taxation from Americans from which to pay your medical costs is stealing.

You are personally accountable (own) the choices you make in life; must be response-able to those choices at no cost to others.

You are an entitlement whore when you think that others should pay for your living.

If YOU want to pay for someone's healthcare, no doubt any American would stop you - but you write the check and get your hands out of our pockets - it's without our consent.

That's what freedom is about.

If the government can steal your money toward selective agendas, what's to say that an agenda won't present itself for which you will disagree?

Where will you turn for protection having already set the criterion for such absconding of freedom.

Limbaugh, B.O., and Stalin
Agree with 95% of the article but I sure cannot bring myself to wish anything positive for that charlatan we have as prez! I cannot abide deception and lies and that what we are fed continually as if they were truths.

Nothing short of a massive socialistic manifesto for BIG government at the expense of that precious and rare (but already dwindling) commodity: Freedom. The pretender’s agenda will mandate government control of the lives AND minds of our children and the elderly; bookends that will trap the once productive adults in the middle to do government’s bidding while being taxed to oblivion. Nice one America!

"Do as I say not as I do", the pretender, born in Kenya not Hawaii, is a disaster waiting to happen. The dupes that voted for this charlatan can take the "credit" for this state of affairs that WILL GET WORSE.

Torture ordered by a Republican President and backed by a Republican controlled congress grants ownership to the Republican party. The entire world and most Americans consider water boarding torture, even if you do not. Declaring that cutting off fingers and toes is not torture does not make it so. wade - France

Have you ever been to a hospital in France?

I have. I lived in France for a year. My sister still lives there.

The French pay exhorbitant income taxes (~70%). The country is really A Tale Of Two Classes... the rich and everyone else. If you have money, you DO NOT go to a socialized hospital. You PAY to go to a private doctor/clinic or you travel to a foreign country for treatment. Everyone else waits for the rationed healthcare that is available to them under the socialized medical system. Further, many procedures and drugs are NOT made available to the patients in the socialized system because they are too expensive. These patients are left to suffer and die.

If you want that sort of system in this country, have at it. Personally, I'll take care of my own medical treatment, thank you.

Dr. D.
"This is why only the top 1% of wage earners will be taxed more and businesses will be asked to pay a little more tax too. Surely this is a small price to pay for domestic tranquility."

Where is equality in your statement when you are FORCING others to pay more?

Is it not obvious that everyone at the same tax rate who earn more money would obviously pay more in taxes?

You miss the point to which I made to another blogger about how these policies are not precepts of freedom, but forced ideology.

If you want to personally pay more taxes to someone, feel free, no one would stop you, but to force others to pay is called stealing.

Equality is opportunity - not everyone having the same. Everyone "having the same" negates the uniqueness of every individual American.

I will assume you are referring to Iraq...From '91-the Iraq invasion, the Iraqi Army under the command of Saddam Hussein, frequently fired missiles at the American Fighter Jets that were patrolling the No-fly zone. That is multiple attacks on America. Just for memory...the no-fly zone was created at the end of Desert Storm.

Limbaugh Past his sell by date
Limbaugh is the Republican Ralph Nader.

Rush did more than any Democrat alive to ensure that McCain lost the election. And what was McCain's crime? Not supporting tax breaks without corresponding cuts in spending, along with campaign finance reform that could have prevented Barney Frank from being in Fannie Maes pocket.

You need to explore the fact that Limbaugh did not even have enough influence to impact a primary, but that he was able to influence the 20-30% of Republican voters into staying home, and forcing McCain to campaign to the right instead of center during the general election. So he is really just a spoiler, not a force to be rekoned with outside of the base.

Rasmussen poll.

Have you ever wondered why Rasmussen polls
ALWAYS show up on right-wing publications, and

would have us believe.

Denise
I wasn't promoting socialized health care. My reference to France was to illustrate that comparing Obama to Tyrannical Dictators as a way of combating socialism is not only stupid but unsupported by any means. There is a massive difference between Pol Pot, Mao, and Kim Il Sung and Prime Minister Gordon Brown or President Nicolas Sarkozy. The argument is dumb along with its arguers. They are two different schools of thought.

Lost Our Way
When history is not taught in the public schools for decades, or taught from a Marxist perspective, only then can an obama be elected. It is astounding to me, as a former teacher, that surveys still show that the majority of Americans are Christian or Deists, and CONSERVATIVE. That is such a hopeful sign, because in order to "cling" to those views, they must overcome 12 to 16 years of socialist indoctrination.
In public school kindergartens, large maps of the world are laid out on the floor and the teacher instructs the children to give each Third World country an M&M. Then she tells them to place 20 M&M's on the US. "Is that fair?" she askes. Nooo, they say. They they redistribute the candy. I fought that and all the other socialist curriculua to no avail.

"From '91-the Iraq invasion"
My response is in your own words, "invasion." Where was this "no-fly" zone? America? No, it was half way around the world in the sky. We invade a country, dictate that a patch of its sky is ours and you want to call that America? This is not an embassy or American piece of property we're talking about. It's the sky of another country. You tell me, what is the difference in the just cause of keeping Saddam from invading Kuwait and Bush Jr.invading Iraq? Both have to do with oil.

Stilla
You sound like a horrible teacher. You think that teaching our children to share with the less fortunate is a bad thing? What kind of monster are you? What is Christian about that? Jesus didn't tell his people to stuff all their riches in their pockets and thumb their nose at the less fortunate. Try reading the Bible instead of beating over peoples heads.

Yes Invasion
This would not have been necessary if Saddam Husein would have followed the rules set forth by the UN on Weapons, No fly zone, and inspections. He did not follow the rules for 12 years, he had enough chances.

I was there in 90-91, we should have finished the job then, but we gave him a chance. He Failed, that is why we are back.

This is for you and every liberal; Rush Limbaugh is not the leader of the Republican Party. He has never claimed that mantle, nor does he want it.

You spew hateful lies about a man, whom you have no clue who he is. You get info on him by listening to liberal radio, or blogs, which are notorious for misquoting Rush. Your liberal radio or blogs spews nothing but doom, gloom, and lies about him and the opposition.

If you tuned into Rush, you would find him very engaging, funny and knowledgeable. He presents the facts truthfully about lying, hypocrite liberals in such a manner; after listening to him you don’t feel hopeless, bitter or angry, but happy, optimistic, and hopeful about the future. Something for which, liberals are not.

You are wrong about Rush being a man of greed and little charity. He is a board member of Marine Corps-Law Enforcement Foundation, a registered charity that provides financial assistance to the children of fallen Marines and federal law enforcement officers. He has been active on its behalf since its inception, and raised nearly 30 million.

That smear letter ‘Dingy” Reid wrote and was signed by 41 Demwits was auctioned off on his show and it sold for 2,100,100 and Rush then matched that amount and it all was donated to the charity.

Tell us again, Rush is greedy and not charitable.

In regards to Obama, he is a sock puppet put into office by George Soros and friends…ACORN. The dumb downed masses bought into his hope and change message, voting on emotion rather than intellect. Some business leaders and other supporters of Obama are expressing buyer remorse. Yet still say we all should support him, despite he is wreaking the economy. Just can’t let go of that emotional attachment.

The smart and conservative American should start stocking up on bullets!

Indoctrination in Public Schools
The National Council on Economic Education (NCEE) with state organizations, such as (CCEE) Colorado Council on Economic Education, introduced a Mini -Society curriculum into the elementary schools across the US. Stated purpose: to teach children about economics. "If we don't start by fourth grade, it's already too late."
Children invent a utopian society, design the currency, manufacture goods crafted individually by each child, sell them, and each kid uses his profit for the treats available in the mini-society reward store. This all takes 6 weeks of classtime, but it's worth it, because it's a creative way to teach capitalism, right? Wrong.
Invariably, some children's goods are appealing and well-crafted,and they sell like hotcakes and other students' goods don't sell well. The teacher asks the kids how they "feel" about that. They feel bad. She instructs the class to redesign their society to make things fair. With her prodding, they agree to pool all their natural resources (Amanda and a few others furnish all the cotton, popsicle sticks, glitter, and copper wire, and put the donated items into the communal pot.) All the students use Amanda and Johnny's natural resources, and all divide the profits equally. Years ago, most mini-societies, under the direction of NCEE-trained elementary teachers evolved into socialist societies. The Marxist NCEE decided that wasn't good enough. Now, the initial cruel stage of capitalism isn't even in the curriculum. They go straight to the communal economy.

The U.N. along with most of the planet thought that sanctions and furthering diplomatic efforts might eventually have an impact but all agreed there was plenty of time to work with Iraq. As a result of our "invasion" we have killed 90,000 Iraqis. If they had confirmed nukes aimed at the world then we would have had no other option but they didn't. If your not in harms way and the country in question does not have a means from which to strike, diplomacy has to be the only method of choice to resolve our differences. We can't go to war and kill the peoples of this planet every time an agreement is broken. Right now Iran almost has the means yet we don't invade. Russia has had the means for years, hence the cold war which was ended by other tactics besides war. Why was Iraq an exception? What made them do dangerous?

Powerful anecdote about Stalin! Similarly, children of abusive parents are often loyal to them - a psychiatrist at Harvard has written extensively about this.

I suggest Republicans not fall into the trap of throwing Limbaugh under the bus because Dems criticize him. Michael Steele did and look at what happened. In fact, criticism from Dems can be a powerful rallying point. It is important to keep in mind that no matter who the Republicans put forth, Dems will be critical. Did folks here see the 3/10 Ben Smith article at politico.com on their smear machine? Personal attacks will be the norm.

Stalin, U.S. future that we missed!
Watching a program on the History (left) Channel “Beltway Unbuckled”, the host made some interesting claims. He said that one of FDR’s main lovers and confidants said if Roosevelt had lived he was going to team up with Uncle Joe Stalin after WWII, to set this world in the right direction. You know just two old buddies with a soft spot for the common man running the world the right way. The host with almost a tear in his eye came out with one of those who know’s what direction we might have taken had he lived. I am sure they had some common ground for the role of government. But even with that winning smile of Uncle Joe S., with all of his jobs and universal health care, I can not help but wonder about that little bit of baggage that he would bring to the partnership. Killing 20 million of his own people along with his wife, friends and political allies comes to mind, somehow, and I know with the new thinking we have I am out date, but I just get a crazy feeling that setting out to change the world with this man would be like teaming up with the Green River Killer AL Capone and Charles Manson. You know a psychopathic killer that could never be trusted, even if his political and social policies were so cutting edge for today.

Tammy's head is where?

Sharing all the world - John Lennon

I hope the generations after us can do more than imagine a better world that doesn't require us to kill each other to protect our riches and forsake all bonds of fellowship. I guess your former classes won't be apart of that world if we should ever be so fortunate. We all tell out children how important it is to share and yet for most, it is something that falls in the same realm as Santa Clause. You find out later that they don't exist.

Tammy the ignorant
Tammy from Illinois you have to be the most ignorant person I have ever seen posting on the site. You are embarassing yourself. Please try to at least inform yourself a little.

Wade
Since you brought up WMD's...After we had left Desert Storm Saddam used Nerve Agent (WMD) on the Kurds in Northern Iraq. So yes he had them. In the time it took for the US to mobilize it's troops and start the offensive operations, these weapons could have been moved. During this time Saddam was still given the opportunity to comply with all UN resolutions, he did not.

12 years was a long time to give him the opportunity to comply.

Yellow Cake (Uranium) was found in Iraq, Yellow cake can be made into weapons grade.

Hey Wade,
the W.H.O. also gave us the continuing fraud being perpetrated on the taxpayers called "second hand smoke".
I'd be a little skeptical.

Tammy is right, period
Rush is like a dog chasing a car barking at it. The people driving the car make the decisions were it goes. The dog just chases it barking in protest because it lacks the intellect to understand what it is. To a dog its just something to bark at. Much like chasing and barking at and about the people that make the decisions which direction our country goes in. He isn't in the car, he is just on the side of the road, barking.

Tammy's never listened
to Rush. Tammy needs to quit talking out her posterior end, and post comments only about things she knows something about. She has obviously never listened to the Rush Limbaugh show (see reply 125 at 1:01pm). Tammy apparantly has no idea what an idiot she looks like when she spouts her liberal talking points about Rush.
Tammy - just listen to 2 or 3 entire shows, and you will see. Take out your earplugs, first.

Wade - comment 135
applies to you, also.

GOP leader
We seemed to have lost the purpose of this article, but one comment jumped out and me and is the best example of defending something you know nothing about- Tammy's comment about the country started out as socilist, unless she means 2009, she missed about 2000 years of history.Liberal didn't even make an apperance until the 1600's. That's what is wrong with this country, people are voting and they do not even know who and what they are voting for.
We in the GOP found that out the hard way. I am estatic that Pres Obama has taken the burden of globalization from the GOP and I hope they keep immigrants over Americans too, and they have always controlled HIB visas, House Republicans fought for years to hold these from being increased by 33% and the democrats introduce a bill to increase them by 77%. Democrats took out e-verify and buy American from the bills.
Conservatives stayed home because McCain was a free trader globalizationis amnesty cap and trade supporter. We invented RHINO and neo con for a reason. the reason there is no leader in the GOP, is because after years of confusion over the question, am I having an identiy crisis of am I a victim of identiy theft, no one is answering this. Christian conservatives oppose globalization and destruction of this country, just as they oppose abortion- principle. It doesn't matter if you are an economic one world order or social -legal one world order, WE CAN NO LONGER AFFORD TO SUPPORT THE WORLD WITH MONEY WE DO NOT HAVE. CHINA IS LOANING US THE MONEY, WE ARE JUST THE SUCKER BEING HAD

Charles
We are not the only member of the UN. If UN resolutions are violated than the UN, with its members, decide if invasion is necessary. That is what you do when you are a member. Also, being able to deliver nerve agents to the Kurds of Northern Iraq is not the same thing as being able to Attack us. We went against the UN. We go in, kill a bunch of people and end up with egg on our face. How many Kurds are dead because of our invasion? I think its embarrassing. The US has let Genocide take place all over this earth and continues to let it happen. I ask you again, what is different about Iraq? What made it necessary for us to go against the UN and invade?

Polly
Actually, revenues did not increase when we lowered taxes under Bush or Reagan. That's a myth. And if you really believe that, maybe we should lower taxes to zero, then the government would really rake in the cash, right?

Wikipedia has a good synopsis of what Reagan's tax cuts did for revenues.

Tammy,
You are so misinformed about Rush. You are so misguided regarding Obama.

I am always open to intelligent and thought provoking conversation. However, I have never found this possible with a liberal.

Reading your posts…I mean incoherent rants, I see no reason to continue to engage you in conversation, as I am obviously dealing with an idiot.

A trusted voice once said, you engage with an idiot, you become the idiot.

So have a nice day, as I do not care to be part of your idiocy.

tgwWhale
Ok an intelligent answer, but the questions is why didn't the Republicans do just that. And frankly, I thing you over exagerate the impact tort reform would have. Plus lets not forget that malpractice law suits do have a societal benefit in discouraging bad practices and bad actors in the medical market place. I am all for providing a balance here, but lets not throw the baby out with the bathwater. This is especially true if you are going to also reduce regulations. The problem with the catistrphic only model is that the young will tend to buy this and older people who are by necessity in need of more care will opt for a fuller coverage. Keeping these pools seperate is unsustainable. Also you prescription does not address the 26 million americabs who are without coverage. I also question whether sick people are in a position to be good consumers in the way they would be for a car.

As to you comment about Canada and the UK. There system are fully socialized but other countries have univeral healthcare with regulated private providers. Germany, France, Japan, Hong Kong, etc. Also the dirty little secret is that the freemarket system does not always lead to innovation. Because what is best for society (Cures) are not as profitable as maintenance drugs.

And that much of the real innovation is being funded with federal dollars now. If by innovation you mean great drugs for hair loss or erectile dysfunction you may be right.

Finally using canada and the UK as an example is a red herring because that is not what Obama has proposed nor did Hillary propose. In fact none of the advocates for Univeral Coverage are proposing a UK or Canada style system.

Deborah
Tammy was probally refering to the first colony in Jamestown, they started out as a communal group and very quickly realized that it would not work

Corrupt leadership of the UN
Wade - it was pretty obvious that the leadership of the UN was taking oil-for-food money (bribes), therefore they were motivated to vote for Sadaam Hussein (and continue to get their bribe money). We had no choice, but to do it with the few nations left who understood the problem and possessed real morality.
We think thugs like you are embarrassing.

Here's the relevant paragraph from Wikipedia on the effects of Reagan's tax cuts:

According to a United States Department of the Treasury non-partisan economic study,[25] the major tax bills enacted under Reagan, as a whole, significantly reduced (~-1% of GDP) government tax receipts. Separated out, however, it is clear that the Economic Recovery Tax Act of 1981 was a massive (~-3% of GDP) decrease in revenues (the largest tax cuts ever enacted),[26] while other tax bills had neutral or, in the case of the Tax Equity and Fiscal Responsibility Act of 1982, significant (~+1% of GDP) government revenue-enhancing effects:

So right wing radio talk show hosts like Rush Limbaugh have been lying to you, repeatedly, for decades.

Wonder what else they've been lying to you about?

They lied about Iraq having anything to do with Islamic terror, too.

Phylo out.

The purpose of government is provide a common defense and promote the general welfare of citizens. We accept that to make this possible we must pay taxes. Whether it is building roads or maintaining national parks or protecting the food supply, or having in place a system of univeral healthcare, the question is do we get good value for our tax dollars. It makes no difference to the Average American whether they pay taxes to get good healthcare or pay a private insurer. What matters is whether they get good value for their dollars. Canada is a free market economy, but when it comes to healthcare that society has chose to see it as a public good and it is a popular ine at that. In fact all of the industrialized nations have some form of univeral healthcare except for one and there is no clamoring in those countries for our system, not even from their conservatives.

Fact, every Republican that has held the Presidency since the Great Depression has left this country in a worse economic state than when they found it.
--Roosevelt/Truman – DEMOCRAT
Debt/GDP – (-24.3% Reduction)
(End of the Depression)
--Harry Truman – DEMOCRAT
Debt/GDP – (-21.9%Reduction)
(Slight drop but still impressive)
--Dwight Eisenhower (1) – REPUBLICAN
Debt/GDP – (-10.8%Reduction)
(50% less impressive than 4 years earlier)
--Dwight Eisenhower (2) – REPUBLICAN
Debt/GDP – (-5.4%Reduction)
(50% less impressive than 4 years earlier-again?)
--Kennedy/Johnson - DEMOCRAT
Debt/GDP – (-8.2%Reduction)
(Back to reducing the deficit)
--Lyndon Johnson - DEMOCRAT
Debt/GDP – (-8.3%Reduction)
(A little more ground)
--Richard Nixon - REPUBLICAN
Debt/GDP – (-2.9%Reduction)
(Damn..Back the other way we go)
--Nixon/Ford - REPUBLICAN
Debt/GDP – (+0.1%Increase)
(Now, we are in the RED)
--Jimmy Carter - DEMOCRAT
Debt/GDP – (-3.2%Reduction)
(Back to our senses – reduction, yeah!)
--Ronald Reagan(1) REPUBLICAN
Increase Debt/GDP – (+11.3%Increase)
(What the F**k happened?)
--Ronald Reagan(2) REPUBLICAN
Debt/GDP – (+9.2%Increase)
(Are you serious – More Increase?)
--George H. W. Bush - REPUBLICAN
Debt/GDP – (+13.1% Increase)
(Wow, big number going the wrong way)
--Bill Clinton(1) DEMOCRAT
Debt/GDP – (-0.6%Reduction)
(Back on track, what changed?)
--Bill Clinton(2) DEMOCRAT
Debt/GDP – (-8.2% Reduction)
(Again with the reduction! Go Bill!)
--George W. Bush(1) REPUBLICAN
Debt/GDP – (+6.9%Increase)
(There is a serious pattern emerging here)
--George W. Bush(2) REPUBLICAN
Debt/GDP – (+3.9% Increase)
(I rest my case)

Republican economics do not work, especially Reaganomics. I can't see how any of you can call liberals "Big Spenders." If it wasn't for democrats reducing our debit all the time we would have been in some seriously poor shape years ago.

You're welcome!

WADE: ON THE ETHICAL USE OF TORTURE
You say that the end never justifies the means. That using the means of torture to save human lives can never be justified. And what if I used torture to rescue you from the clutches of Al Qaida terrorists? What would you say then? Would it be morally more acceptable in your eyes if I did nothing and let you die a horrible sadistic death than use torture to extract critical life saving information from a terrorist to save you? If after having saved you would you feel moral outrage at my actions and seek to have me prosecuted? Maybe the end in this case doesn't justify the means, maybe it simply excuses it.

I love it! Your a deep thinker I see. I'm sure that no liberal host can even begin to match the donations Rush has made to society. But of course hes a conservative which devalues any good he has done. You libs who spout this hateful ideology are going to destroy your own party. In fact, I wish the libs would leave the party as they have done before.

My God where have all the thinkers gone!

Apollospeaks
"ETHICAL USE OF TORTURE" are you serious? There is no such thing! We cut off your legs but graciously decided to numb you up before we did it and then we gave you a wheelchair afterwords. NO, the ends do not justify. Every Psychologist on the planet will tell you that information obtained by ways of torture is not valid. Remember that torture is not used only against the guilty
Inherent in all of the scenario building is the assumption that we know, with great reliability, that we have the appropriate party who possesses knowledge that could save lives. It perverts the system which, seeking shortcuts to the hard work of investigation, relies increasingly on torture. The estimate from the Red Cross was that at least 80 percent of those imprisoned at Abu Ghraib, for example, should never have been arrested, but were there because it was easier to arrest persons than to let them go (people feared letting go a terrorist more than protecting the innocent). The Israeli security system claimed to use its stress and duress techniques only where they had the most reliable information about the detainee's guilt. Yet human rights monitors estimate that they were used on over 8000 detainees. It is not credible to believe they had this precise information about so many.

David is
100 percent correct about Wikipedia.

Wikipedia is nothing more than an online encyclopedia of liberal BS.

buff.

Tammy is referring to communal expenditure for

I hope you don't seriously read that list and think thats its our economy in a snapshot. Its always the Lib that pulls out a single stat that supports their thoughts and turns their back on years of history and historical statistics. If you do believe that your little list there proves higher taxing and more policy helps our economy then you are truly not a thinker at all. In this case you are a sheep. Baaaah! There is far more to our economy than the short list you have provided.

Tammy - How About Pew?

You don't want Rassmussen, who has the most accurate record? OK. How about the Pew Poll? It shows the same trend, dreary!

A new poll by the independent Pew Research Center for the People & the Press has found that President Barack Obama’s popular support is eroding, with his approval rating dropping below 60 percent.

“President Barack Obama’s approval rating has slipped, as a growing number of Americans see him listening more to his party’s liberals than to its moderates, and many voice opposition to some of his key economic proposals,” the Pew Center concluded.

Its new survey finds Obama’s approval rating falling to 59 percent from 64 percent in February. It also finds the ranks of Americans who disapprove of the president’s job performance rising, to 26 percent from 17 percent.

Tammy
Delightful Tammy, your previous statment does not make any sense. And it seems that the thinkers you refer to are starting to doubt their choices. MMM a dwindling approval rating already. Wait til he really pisses of the GOP.

Ken
Sure, its all a liberal conspiracy. What a joke. I have come to the conclusion that any source that contradicts a conservative philosophy will be labeled as bias toward liberals. There might be some truth to that because judging by the last two elections, I would have to say that Americans seem to favor liberal views more and more these days. Its not that anyone is conspiring against conservatives, we all just advanced a little better with the times. Don't worry, you'll catch up.

Go Cavs!

The GOP has largely bailed on Barack Mugabe. The real movement is coming from Independents, who are disgusted by his spending and failure to keep his campaign promise to bring a "new type of government" to W.DC. Hiring tax cheats and lobbyists, as well as signing bills with earmarks, have really angered them. Of course, the kicker is the failure of Obama and Geithner to put forth a clear plan to "fix" the economy because the Independents do NOT believe that the Stinkulus will do the job and they are also waiting on the "miracle" bank stabilization plan that was promised.

There sure is...
..but you don't need to look up facts a figures to prove it. Just look at out history books. The recession of 1920-21 ( prelude to the 29 crash) Warren Harding (R)

Great crash 1929 Hoover(R)

Recession 1981-83 Ronald Reagan (R)

Recession 1990-91 George H.W. Bush (R)

Current Crisis 2007 - ????
George W. Bush (R)

Why do all these recessions and dpressions happen with only Republicans? Hmmm

Deborah

****
Hmmm. I missed out on 2000 years of history. I didn't realize that our country was that old. Guess I will have to go dig up the old history book again. For that matter, discounting some very early attempts at democracy, particularly Greece, democracy didn't make an appearance until late 1700's,
so why are we mentioning liberals in the 1600's. And while we are at it don't presume for a minute that a 1600 liberal is the same thing as a 2000 liberal. Besides, the topic is socialism, not liberalism.

I'd respond to paragraph #2 of your 1:32 p.m. post, but I don't know what it is saying, so I'll just skip that. For that matter I don't understand paragraph #3 either. Maybe if you just let your blood pressure drop a bit, you could write a coherent sentence or two.

wade and tammy et al
There's a sickening feeling here from time to time; when we read what some Americans staunchly believe. There was one past experience in my life; about 15 years ago. I was on jury duty, and had the misfortune of serving side by side with a few jury members of the mentality we see here. Imagine seeing Wade and Tammy in deliberations affecting another person's future.

They ignored all the judge's instructions; voted for conviction on frivolous grounds; totally rail-roading the accused. On account of what?

They were simply too stupid to serve on a responsible jury.

Such is what we see here. Wade and Tammy talk a good game. But as for judgment, they're each Forrest Gump; so dumb even their mothers must feel pity for them. Wade's Mom thinks; "I carried this brain-dead boy for nine months? What a disaster he turned out!

Tammy's Mummy is also strapped for an explanation. "Why is this daughter so soft in the head? We gave her the best nutrition, dental care, an easy start in life. Her intelligence just started to lag after learning to talk as a child. Now all she can do is talk. But she's a mental bomb crater. My poor Tammy!"

Town Hall brings together so many of these irritable knuckleheads. It hurts so badly to realize how many they are in this country. We're surrounded by morons on all sides.

I should be so lucky. I have been listening to Rush since the mid-1980's when he was on TV. Still today, I probably turn him on about once a week and keep him on until the vomit reflex kicks in. Then I turn it off. once again reminded that he is still and forever same old, same old.

While I missed the original of that Friday
night blowout of two or three weeks ago, I
saw several replays of portions of it. You
know, where the fat guy was bouncing up and down, the jowls sort of wiggling
all over. And he was thinking he was some sort of peacock. And all the guys in the
audience where shaking their fists and making grunting noises, as if preparing for battle. (I wonder if they allowed guns in the building?!?) I'm pretty sure that was
Rush. Or do I have it wrong. Am I talking
about the wrong guy? It sure looked like Rush. It sure sounded like Rush. The typical
blowbag stuff. And Annie with the fresh new
boob job showed up. I have got the right
program, don't I?

Old ignorant Tammy knows one thing, if nothing
else. The Democrats won. Obama won. And
Limbaugh helped us do that. Obama played the
biggest part, Bush came in second, but Limbaugh was a big third. Only Cheney is
more malevolent than Limbaugh, and Limbaugh has been at it longer.

Have you guys had an MRI lately?

Yep, I feel it. A revolution is coming.

Wow
That was somewhat clever, I guess. Actually it really wasn't but thanks anyway, it was amusing to say the least. What are you arguing about dreadnaught? Why all the name calling? I assume its because you have no valid argument to make. Much like the Republican arguments we hear in Washington, no surprise there. Your whole post reminds me of your coveted conservative plan to fix our current economic crisis, nothing. You keep that stellar work coming, and we'll all pretend your a smart guy. Oh, without knowing the facts and details of the "jury duty" case you mentioned, its really hard to come up with words for that one. As utterly useless and random as it was I'm sure the "liberals" you mentioned found some value in the facts and details even if you are not the kind of person that values such things.

Oh, and that proposed Party will have to be run by individuals that worship and adore the God of Abraham, Isaac and Jacob and are NOT AFRAID to live that belief!!

The Roman
Let me start by saying "Deathers" is not a word, neither is "deaders." Didn't you see the little red line that shows up under misspelled words? What's next, suciders? Oh wait, I think I've heard that one somewhere before. Why don't you support what free America stands for. Conservatives want to force their values on every man, woman and child in this country and have the audacity to call that a free nation. Our founding fathers created this country because of their disdain for that kind of ideology. Our government was not created so one group can impose their beliefs of on everyone else. It was created so that all who live under it’s flag have the right to choose for themselves and their families, what is best for them. The price of freedom will always be paid for with a tolerance for other peoples’ beliefs. It is not my government’s place to tell them that their values are wrong. We as a free society, have to understand that key principal in order to maintain the true governing values of a free democracy. Social values should not be the responsibility of our elected officials to govern. When social values with religious implications are mandated, then you undermine our right to freedom of religion. The first amendment was not created to only practice what ever religion you choose but also to protect us from having a religious belief forced upon us. The main right-wing conservative agenda is to force their religious beliefs on all Americans. That very concept, by constitutional interpretation, is un-American

Ken
Well, I must be off. I have other things to do right now. But I do have to make this one
last post.

"I am always open to intelligent and thought provoking conversation. However, I have never found this possible with a liberal."

I shall keep these thoughts with me. I shall
forever wonder where I have gone wrong. What
could I have said that would make Ken admire
me? What can I say that would make Ken
wish to engage me in conversation.

Oh, I would have to sound like Limbaugh.
Forget it.

You got it right, but sadly you got it wrong. THE FEDERAL GOVERNMENT is to promote the general welfare of the states, this is why the powers granted to it are those which benefit the states, such as coinage, and interstate commerce (what an abused and distorted power). In the Constitution of the United States there is no specific power given for general welfare, but a few limited ones enumerated in Article 1, Section 8. Nowhere in there is healthcare or any such thing. Furthermore that would be moving from promoting (creating an environment beneficial for...) to specifically providing for. You are either greatly misinformed, lack basic English skills, or are attempting to deceive. You also have either not read the Constitutional Convention debates and the ratification debates, or are choosing to ignore them, for in those debates OTHER powers, such as making canals and a federal university were put forth for consideration, but voted down, showing that only those powers given were the ones considered necessary for general welfare. Also, those powers would not have been enumerated if all that was necessary was to say "you have the power of deciding what general welfare is, pass whatever laws you see fit." Rather we see that only those which are necessary and proper for carrying out the ENUMERATED powers are to be passed, and anything else is provided for in amendments. This does not mean some judge can determine it is for society's benefit or that a "national emergency" is cause for bypassing this process. So take your lies and shove them back in the toilet you got them from.

Wade
Listening these last 8 years to the liberals 911 conspiracy theories and all the other conspiracies involving the ‘evil’ President Bush, I would say it is the liberals, not conservatives who have conspired here.

America is still more conservative than liberal. That is fact.

This last election in no way proved the liberal views are more favorable. The American people were not told the truth about Obama, except on conservative cable shows, radio, or blogs. Had the MSM, the alphabet news, the liberal rags all done their jobs, and vetted him properly and then reported the truths and facts in an unbiased way, he would not have been elected.

The MSM, liberal cable shows, the alphabet news, and major liberal rags all provided cover for him constantly. They never reported anything about him in a negative way. When some controversy was brought to light, the MSM or the Obama campaign countered it by saying this is biased or racist to bring this up. It got to the point you could not say anything without it being branded as racist. You could not even use his middle name during the campaign.

Obama talked a message 24/7 of hope and change. Yet, you never really knew exactly what it meant. A bunch of empty rhetoric put forth in not a liberal template, but as a moderate Democrat message.

In regards to McCain; his days as a Maverick spelled the end to his being elected. The “conservative base” did not trust him enough, thus he did not get their vote. Had BHO been a white senator with the same themes and messages, he would not have been elected. Too many people voted with emotions, rather than intellect.

GOP Spineless Wonders
One must wonder if the Republican Party has any institutional sense of purpose or fire in its belly at all. A political party supposedly stands for a particular set of principles and seeks to get members elected to office, but the GOP seems to do neither. If one asserts its purpose is actually to obstruct conservatism, and demoralize & waste the resources of conservatives, to ensure there is no effective conservative opposition to the Dems, that assertion would be hard to refute.

Ever since the Contract With America turned Congress over to the GOP for the 1st time since the Depression, the GOP seemed embarrassed by its success & determined to reclaim its position as the impotent loser nominal opposition, which they finally achieved in 2006 & 2008. The Rockefeller element and the career Congresspersons who happened not to be Democrats but wanted to govern in the same confiscate-&-buy-votes model, resented having their cheese moved. Almost every GOP action since, from Specter’s betrayal on the Clinton gun bans, to the “Gang of 14”, seemed deliberately designed to dismay & demoralize the conservative base as well as to block any conservative success.

In spite of the record of success with Reaganism & the CwA, the GOP seems determined to abandon a proven model for success, for feckless wishy-washy “moderate” mediocrity that NO ONE WANTS!

They either are spineless and pantstinkling scared of being called nasty names by NYT/WaPo editors, burninghaired leftists, & (other) Democrats to the point of cringing like whipped dogs, or else they are simply another branch of the ruling elite class, whose assignment is to take up space & use up oxygen to deny political opportunity to conservatives.

wade needs comforting

You seem put out, Wade, because I name your malady simple slow wit. I told it plainly in the form of a lament. It makes me sad. Wouldn't you be sad; knowing you were surrounded by folks incapable of serious thought? I judge you only by what little you've been posting. Maybe I'm too hasty?

I just know that over time my eyes were opened to how deficiently some brains work. They proceed merrily along their way, unable to study anything in depth. That's what I saw daily on the jury; half-baked opinions, raised to the level of a certainty.

Your expressed opinions in this thread don't show any sign of your having explored these subjects in depth. All quick studies; all left-wing and none of them interested in understanding the other person's point of view.

I attribute it to a small mind. Somewhere there is surely one skill or aptitude in which you excel. But it's not politics or current events. You could be a master baker. Or an excellent football coach. I wouldn't challenge you on those grounds. But you should stay out of public forums.

WADE: A TORTUROUS QUESTION
I'll rephrase my question to Wade: If Wade was abducted and tortured by terrorists and was saved from his chamber of horrors based on information extracted from a tortured terrorist would he consider this morally wrong and call for the criminal prosecution of his rescuers? Or would he praise his rescuers both for risking their lives to save him and for the method they used to locate him? Yes or no Wade, would you approve of their methods? And please no lectures about Israelis, Abu Ghraib and the Red Cross.

a glaring example

Wade gave us a HUGE spread of his noxious wisdom; and it ends like this:

"The main right-wing conservative agenda is to force their religious beliefs on all Americans."

Is THAT a false premise? Why doesn't Wade lead us to the evidence? Who forced religious beliefs on you, Wade?

"That very concept, by constitutional interpretation, is un-American."

I didn't know ___that concept___, a false premise; was argued in the Supreme Court. WHY then, does Wade say it's been interpreted? Has ANY concept come before the Courts; and returned with the verdict: "un-American"--?? NAME ONE, WADE.

Here's an example of one dumb American who sold himself a bill of goods; and wishes to expand on it in public blather. (No brains.) Not just that he knows nothing about "religious belief," but he thinks he can accuse us of the AGENDA, on grounds of What? On grounds of his hatred for religion.

Ken and Barbie (dreadnaught)
Dreadnaught, the only argument you have made seems to be in protest of me. Like I said before I have seen this tactic of conservatives for far to long. Why don't you take some time, think real hard about what it is you want to say and formulate an intelligent response. One that doesn't consist of things about my mother. I mean momma jokes, really? I don't think I'm going to be lectured about my lack of knowledge of current events when as far as I can tell the only thing of substance you have written seems to be about some stupid time you sat on a jury. Thanks for sharing that wonderful story by the way. I'll be sure to file that waste of 10 seconds at the bottom of a long list of other meaningless forms of mindless dribble that I have had the misfortune of reading here today. Just for you, I'm going to label it "who the F**K cares."

Oh Kenny Ken,
All you have to do is watch one night of news and you will see one stupid thing after another that that poor excuse of a President mishandled and ran straight into the ground. He and his administration are criminals, period. Memos excusing themselves from constitutional laws, granting permission for torture, blackout for the media, granting authority to spy on Americans and the list goes on. It stops being conspiracy when you have proof, idiot.

Wade.......
consider "the God is deaders" a form (maybe new) of Poetic license. By the way, Wade, you might look up how to spell suicide. Hello!
When one truthfully follows the dictates of the Creator, God, faithfully they don't "force" anyone to accept their belief; rather they teach by good example. However, when
immoral people try to force their immorality on other individuals, by thwarting the values and the right to worship the God upon Whom this once great country was founded, there-in lies the problem.
You see Wade if you take The True God out of the picture everything else falls apart.

Wade..whoa
I would really like to know where you studied history and political science, because your statements concerning government and social values is at direct odds with what America was built on. Most of the states originated as societies that had definite laws concerning what was allowed or not allowed concerning religion, and people were at times banished for practicing religion contrary to the laws in place. Further, freedom of religion meant a free choice to serve God as one saw fit, not to live in such a way as the people saw as harming their society, thus such things as sodomy were illegal in many states. The Federal Government was created not for individual rights but to strengthen the states, by acting as their agent in joint military might (common defence), and in trade with other nations, and between the states themselves (see Aug. 16th of the Constitutional Convention). Coinage, patents, a postal service were also seen as being beneficial to all involved. To say that what is done by those purporting to be the Federal government such as, imposed hiring practices, giving money to retirees, taking care of others (at times free), taxing others more because they have more is not forced values is an absurd statement. This is why you receive scorn from many here, because it fails any reasonable examination of having gone through a logical process to come to a definitive and substantiated conclusion.

Gay rights = denied
I would say denying a minority the ability to marry the person of their choosing counts as a big one. Religion is the only reason behind that one. You force the homosexuals of this country because of whom they love to suffer you religious beliefs.

Lenard
Your an idiot. Our founding fathers thought the church had way to much power and had a large amount of disdain for religion poking its nose in social domestic affairs. Simply put they didn't like it.

Although the Declaration of Independence mentioned “Nature’s God” and the “Creator,” the Constitution made no reference to a divine being, Christian or otherwise, and the First Amendment explicitly forbid the establishment of any official church or creed. There is also a story, probably apocryphal, that Benjamin Franklin’s proposal to call in a chaplain to offer a prayer when a particularly controversial issue was being debated in the Constitutional Convention prompted Hamilton to observe that he saw no reason to call in foreign aid. If there is a clear legacy bequeathed by the founders, it is the insistence that religion was a private matter in which the state should not interfere. - Britanica

Eat that one!

Communicates, earns trust, evokes desire
Yes, let's talk about how Rush communicates. Rush tell his listeners how ignorant they are and if you have to rely on someone to do your thinking for you, Rush is right. Earns trust. What has Rush done with the trust he has earn from his listeners. Rush is out for Rush and no one else. Rush isn't doing what he does for his listeners or the country. Rush's show is nothing but pure ego. Remember Operation Chaos. Operation Chaos was a good example of taking the trust the people gave Rush and investing it into getting Hillary the nomination. The trust he should have been using to get John McCain elected, he squandered it away on getting Hillary the nomination. The trust he used for his own personal gain in sending Conservatives and Republicans as crossover voters for Hillary. The trust he abandoned when he failed to let the crossover voters know they had to re-register as Republicans. Evokes desires. The only evoke desires exhibited were those by Rush for Hillary. Hillary said it best. Rush is obsessed with me and she hit it right on the nail. Is this the leader you tried so hard to sell to the Conservatives and Republicans.

why stop at stalin?????
how about comparing Obama to Hitler, Sadam Hussien and every other dictator.
Am sure you are saving that for your next column, you IDIOT.

Distracted
You all lose the main thread and go off on weird personal tangents as the day goes on. This morning, on this site, a poster submitted an anecdote of Stalin torturing a chicken in public, to the dismay of the crowd. To illustrate the power of a dictator, he then fed the abused, naked, pathetic animal, and it continued to follow him as he sprinkled food. Whether or not that is an actual anecdote, Stalin did march women and children in front of his tanks to detect land mines, and he starved 6 million Ukrainians into communist submission.(while American leftists and Hollywood directors supported him and made communist-sympathizer movies)
Moral of Stalin's story: When you are rendered totally dependent upon the government for your existence, you will be compliant and cooperative, and your loyalty will be there 100%. You will do anything for the benevolent state, even turn in your parents for hoarding the tiny bit of food they saved for you. C'mon out there. Focus! Rush is brilliant, but he's not the issue. Obama has the press and his minions marching along in goose step, and he has neighborhod cell committees meeting when he calls them, and he has all the Marxist machinery in place for a revolutionary change in our government. If you want to fight that, don't be distracted.

Wade,
I will repeat to you what I told your liberal friend Tammy:
I am open to intelligent and thought provoking conversation. However, I have never found this possible with a liberal.

Continue to believe in the pathetic lies being fed to you by the treasonous liberal media regarding President Bush.

If you ever decide to extrapolate your head from your rectum, Why don’t you thank the men and women who have fought and died for you to spew your hate filled rhetoric. Thank President Bush for keeping your sorry butt safe all these years he was in office.

Since 9/11 there has not been another terrorist attack on American soil. However, I know you liberals are incapable of giving the president credit for that, as you liberals have never given him credit for one single achievement ever.

Now take a hike, go back to your liberal troll websites and lay down by your dish...and be a good boy, when we want to hear something from you again, we'll let you know...NOT!

wade
Apparently you did not read my post, because you fail to respond or make a rebuttal to the FACTS that I mentioned. Did I somewhere reference the D of C or the Con Con in my post? You seem to have an argument in your head waiting for a chance to be made, otherwise why go off on some tangent that really has nothing to do with parsing what I said? I am not arguing for a state established religion, although at the time of ratification 3 states did have state established religion. Here is another point of failure for you; the inability or unwillingness to distinguish between the purview of the Federal government and that of the states. The Constitution forbade the Federal government not state governments from establishing religion, as did most other states, but AGAIN not all. Many state constitutions made it a requirement to acknowledge a God to whom those in that state governments were accountable to. Your willingness to jump in and comment so ignorantly is appalling. If you can clearly lay out the "errors" in my earlier post, then feel free to call me an idiot, but otherwise I recommend you look up the definition and see who bears the best resemblance.

RUSSIANS ARE FICKLE RE LEADERS
Russians may flock to a leader but when they become disenchanted their leaders go quickly. Check out the Russian people's disenchantment with Lenin, Stalin, Krushchev, and Gorbachev. Would that disenchantment in the USA comes quickly! Signed, Hopeful on the Bayou

rockisback and others
Those of you that object to comparing Obama with dictators fail to note that the comparison lies in tactics employed and not actions committed. Not all dictators start off as such as power is not always instantly present but at times needs to be accrued. So we point out how continual usurpation of power is a trait often accompanying those who then oppress those under them. This is something that the Founding Fathers and Framers recognized and thus sought to place as many limits and checks on power, yet still give enough to benefit the states. It is this constant illegal encroachment of state power and individual freedom that we recognize as not just detrimental to us currently, but as having potential for greater harm in the future, near or far, and so we speak out against it as being of the same essence.

Rush the leader, Obama the wonder drug
Obama wants to keep people hooked on the major social programs, like welfare etc. He is using these programs, like a drug, so that his supporters will be hooked, the ultimate wonder drug. That way Obama will have his supporters coming to them with their hands out asking for more benefits from these social programs. Obama's socialistic tendencies will run this country into the ground. We have to stop this trend before the wealthy in this country go bankrupt because of his policies.

Rush Limbaugh is a great communicator of conservative ideals, and the Reagan philosophy. Our elected republicans need to start standing up and expressing our conservative ideas and principles like Rush Limbaugh. If our elected republicans would take some pages from our founding fathers, and start standing up for the very same reasons this country were founded on, then they would have so much more support from republicans.

I thought Rush/GOP was the subject
On this article?
I don't listen to Rush...never seem to have
time and I don't listen to the radio!
If somebody is trying to cleverly engineer him for a political run for the Whitehouse, they better think again!
As for all the talk about leadership..soooo
what at this point!
I don't think most conservbatives realize that America is no longer a bastion of conservatism
I say this sadly but a matter of fact!
The only way The Donkeys are going to be
dumped..is for Obamama to keep doing what he is doing! Reagan got in because the USA was on the brink of disaster!
And I have to repeat myself...the nation will be looking for a problem solver screw the party label! And how do you know a PROBLEM SOLVER?
Their track record, resume. I believe There are only two that will potentially fill the bill:
Romney,Jindal! Yeah, I know about Sarah...
it aint gonna happen! I belive what I just said
95%! ha ha ha.Or maybe put those two together!
The other 5% IS UP FOR BID--ILLINOIS STYLE!

I do listen to Rush. I like him and he is funny, informative and fearless.

He never liked McCain because he is not conservative. He has said that for years. I think he preferred Mitt, but never really took sides. Never endorsed anyone.

After McCain won the nomination,he half-heartedly supported him,but like most of us never trusted him and only supported him because of Obama. Sarah Palin made him a be a bit more palatable.

Rush would never agree to run for president. He says he would have to take a pay cut. I think he has too much personal baggage and I know the media would try to ruin him. They try now. They fail.

ROWLY...???
I didn't say I did't like Rush.
I just seem to have never had time when he is
on. Plus,I have 75% loss of hearing! My buddy
Rowly is probably thinking 'OHH, GAWD, IS THIS
ELVIS READY FOR THE SMITHSONIAN INSTITUTE!
ANOTHER HEALTH PROBLEM!" BUT YOU KNOW MY ATTITUDE ABOUT MY HEALTH!SMILE.IAM VERY
BLESSED!
Rowly, realize whoever the demos face they will go after them !
But if the nation is desperate..all that will count is to show that their opponent is a proven winner in problematic situations!
Actually, I like Rush...but so much for that.
MOVIN'ON..
ELVIS

Now I never thought you didn't like Rush! I just said I did. He is not carried on a lot of radio stations,so even if they wanted to hear him ,they couldn't.

My oldest son lost most of his hearing when he was five. A streptomycin shot caused a nerve deafness. He reads lips to augment his hearing loss and wears an aid.

He has a Master's degree and is an architectural engineer,so he did well even with a handicap. He has read since he was a little boy and is a conservative.

Rowly...back in the Bldg.!
You have away of drawing me back into thr building!smile.I RUSHED back!

My hearing loss is also nerve deafness......
inherited, goes all the way back about 150
years! It is finally weaking due to marriages to healthy ears! I mean my kin married people,
not ears, with good hearing and is phasing out the problem in the geneology!
Good for your son!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Sometimes it is a blessing when boring speakers in the church speak...I just sit there and smile and daydream! But in the Mormon
Church..most memebers are encouraged to speak
after they get some strength to their understanding..and that is when I roll. I have been speaking publicly for over 40 years!
But the Bishop quit asking me to speak.
They got tired of ducking the bricks thrown
at me!
I wonder if Rush has had that experience!?
Elvis

elvis
When you mentioned not listening to boring speakers,it made me remember when he was playing local baseball . He pitched and played centerfield. If he wasn't pitching good or got in a jam,I would see him turn off his aid so he couldn't hear the crowd ragging him.

Good for you for public speaking. I could never do that.

Rush just lost his hearing four or five years ago. He has a cochlear implant, now. He went totally deaf almost overnight.

Take care.

Socialism does not work
Just remember what Khrushchev said to Humphrey when Humphrey visited Khrushchev before he ran for president. Khrushchev told Humphrey that you have to give the people incentives to work, whereupon Humphrey stated, "But that's Capitalism!". To which Khrushchev responded, "Call it what you will, it works."

Constraining the government?
Doug FL says answers the question asked by Turek: The platform declares that the party intends to “constrain the federal government.” Who in the party effectively communicates this and then follows through?

With this answer: One man: Ron Paul.

Ron Paul is the Number One Republican Porker in the House. Doesn't sound like constraing to me. And Paul always uses the Constitution to justify his actions. I can't find earmarks anywhere in that document.

Paul is a phony blowhard.

GOP Leader
I disagree with Turek that no one is the leader of the Republican Party right now. I think Sarah Palin is the out-in-front runner at the moment. She has been a little quiet lately, but she is scheduled to give a speech at a gathering I believe next week.

Watch her numbers soar after that event.

She is the most outstanding personality in the GOP political field and will only get better.
