Was the Copenhagen Global Warming Summit Walk-Out a Win for the U.S.?

Perhaps the most famous line the history of cartoons was one Walt Kelly gave his much-beloved character, Pogo: “We have met the enemy and he is us.” Increasingly, it appears Barack Obama feels the same way about America. Call it the PogObama worldview.

The President’s first hundred days have been a blur of legislative initiatives, policy pronouncements and symbolic gestures that, taken together, constitute the most sweeping and fundamental make-over of U.S domestic and foreign policies since at least World War II. Animating them all is a hostility towards this country’s traditional values, institutions and conduct that is best described by Jeane Kirkpatrick’s phrase “Blame America First.”

To be sure, Mr. Obama has plenty of company in this camp, both at home and abroad. “San Francisco Democrats” (another Kirkpatrickism) like Nancy Pelosi and tyrants like Hugo Chavez (with whom the President did “high fives” over the weekend) and Saudi King Abdullah (to whom the President bowed two weeks ago) are of a mind: The United States owes the world myriad apologies for its arrogance, unilateralism, aggression and other sins. And it needs to make amends in various, substantial and ominously portentous ways, including the following:

Releasing the so-called “torture memos”: The President pandered to the Left last week by ignoring the advice of five past and present CIA Directors and declassifying several Top Secret legal memoranda. They lay out in excruciating detail what “enhanced interrogation techniques” could be used in extreme circumstances to secure information being withheld by al Qaeda and other high value enemy operatives.

While Mr. Obama says that those who followed these guidelines will not be prosecuted, he has, as a practical matter, invited their prosecution by others. Certainly, he left the door open, both here and overseas, to inquisitions of the memo-drafters and their superiors by Spanish judges, witch-hunters in the U.S. Congress, prosecutors with the International Criminal Court, etc.

By effectively declaring “open season” on those in the Bush administration who helped secure this country in its time of need post-9/11, Mr. Obama is not only wronging dedicated public servants who acted in good faith and who prescribed techniques well short of torture. [(As David Rivkin and Lee Casey point out in Monday’s Wall Street Journal, thousands of American servicemen have been subjected to such methods for decades as part of their survival training).] He is also opening his own team to similar jeopardy, perhaps for killing innocent civilians with their Predator strikes in Pakistan or attacks now said to be under discussion on putative Somali “terrorist camps.”

Undermining U.S. sovereignty: Mr. Obama is embracing sovereignty-sapping treaties, theories of “universal jurisprudence” and individuals like State Department Legal Advisor-designate Harold Koh who espouse them. The desired result evidently is a world governed by international norms and bureaucrats, rather than one dominated – or even forcefully led – by bad old America.

Cutting America’s power-projection capabilities: The defense budget reductions recently unveiled by Secretary of Defense Robert Gates seem to have one thing in common: They will diminish the United States’ ability to extend its global reach for the protection of this country and its interests around the world.

For example, Messrs. Obama and Gates propose to cancel: the C-17, America’s indispensable airlifter; the F-22, the world’s best fighter/attack aircraft; and the Army’s Future Combat System, a comprehensive and long-overdue modernization program for that service’s armored forces. They would also truncate the purchase of F-18 E/Fs, the backbone of naval aviation, evidently as a precursor to reducing the number of operational aircraft carriers. Missile defense programs will be ravaged. There will be no modernization, ever, of the nation’s nuclear deterrent. And the industrial base needed to support all of the above will be allowed to atrophy and/or be sold off to foreign powers keen to manufacture the superior weapon systems we no longer will.

Trying to appease America’s adversaries: Mr. Obama’s is determined to normalize relations with literally every one of the world’s bad actors – notably, Vladimir Putin’s Russian kleptocracy, Iran’s incipient nuclear mullahocracy, the Castro brothers’ island gulag, the megalomaniacal Kim dynasty in North Korea, the spreading and virulently anti-American axis in our own hemisphere led by Venezuela’s Chavez and the Muslim Brotherhood and other Shariah-adherent entities – without regard to their continuing, dangerous behavior or ambitions.

By associating himself with these hostile powers’ critiques of the United States and by acquiescing to many, if not all, of their demands, Mr. Obama may temporarily cultivate the illusion of having improved bilateral relations and America’s “image” internationally. Unfortunately, it is absolutely predictable that – in the absence of systemic changes in these and other despotic regimes the President is romancing – any “improvements” will come at the Free World’s expense. And the image America will ultimately project is that of an emasculated, formerly great power, easy prey for those who seek not just to displace, but destroy, it.

Under these circumstances, those of us who reject the PogObama view of the United States have our work cut out for us. Fortunately, most Americans do not see their country as “the enemy.” It is time for legislators and other leaders who prize our sovereignty, who recognize the importance of preserving and wisely using our power and who understand that our true foes are numerous, elsewhere and being emboldened to enlist the public in challenging Team Obama’s agenda, before it brings us to grief.

Question Mine And I'l Question Your's

"...true patriotism also means a willingness to sacrifice for our common good..."
Barack Obama July 6, 2008

Well, fine, tell me about "true" patriotism when you quit bowing to a Saudi king, stop the three pats on the back and a couple of shakes with Chavez the Clown, talk to Turkey about its own arrogance in the past like during the Ottoman freaking Empire, visit the graves of American war heroes in Normandy, and stop apologizing to the world for what you perceive to be wrong acts that we have committed, when we have been on the right side of history far more often than everyone else.

Somehow, I don't think that your bow freed ONE SAUDI WOMAN NOR DID THE HANDSHAKES HEARD AROUND THE WORLD FREE ONE OF THE POLITICAL PRISONERS IN VENEZUELA.

The release
The release of the CIA memos is perhaps the most damming of Obamas' actions to date. That Singular act speaks volumes about the direction that we are headed in. It's extremely dangerous to this Nation and its' people. Petty politics put before the safety and protection of each and every American.

Fine Observation Mr Gaffney
I read the WSJ Article, and as a former participant, or should I be declared VICTIM of AirCrew Survival/Evasion Training, I fail to see all the Hand Wringing over this issue. The article is SPOT ON and we, the sensible ones, will be hard pressed to repair the damage already done.. To even THINK or HOPE the world is a "warm, fuzzy place" is, in my judgement, the HEIGHT OF IDIOCY. I've said before: WHEN HOPE IS UR ONLY/LAST OPTION U ARE IN DEEP TROUBLE.. WE'RE IN DEEP TROUBLE.. CHEERS!!

Keep this thought
Franks writes:
"While Mr. Obama says that those who followed these guidelines will not be prosecuted, he has, as a practical matter, invited their prosecution by others."
=======================

Obama is using the Oval Office to Prosecute America before the world wide jury.

Every thing he says and everywhere he goes it to make the case for conviction of the United States of America.

He is prosecuting the nation in the eyes of the world seeking a guilty verdict for our sins.
As if the rest of the world is innocent, and would all be above any guilt for their own failures and sins if not for America.

With friends like this guy obama, who needs enemies?
He is the Jeremiah Wright of the Oval Office and hates America.

I know this by the words that comes out of his mouth.

Mt 12:34 -
O generation of vipers, how can ye, being evil, speak good things? for out of the abundance of the heart the mouth speaketh

I see him for the snake he is

Obama hasn't the slightest clue...
...at how he is certainly being laughed at by these world leaders.

He prances around so full of himself, making speeches everywhere he goes and thinks he's dazzling everyone with all his apologies for the United States.

He's being made a fool of.

a shame really
It is kind of a shame that Gaffney was wrong about just about everything when the people who he had influence were in power. Now he is reduced to accusing the people who are abandoning those failed policies of acting in bad faith. But one does not need bad faith to want to abandon failed policies.

The danger to the authors of the torture memos is, of course, that reading those memos makes clear that they were not in fact acting in good faith. There job was to assess the legality of behaviors and instead they rigged up ludicrous defenses of policies that could not be defended with serious arguments. (And even then they couldn't get themselves to defend the actual torture that went on that managed to go beyond the silly rationales offered in the memos).

The idea that the fact that we tried to prepare our soldiers for the torture performed by groups like the Vietcong shows that that behavior wasn't torture after all is just bizarre.

Isn't it sad that to defend the Bush administration one needs to by extension defend the Viet Cong and the Chinese and pretty much every bad actor who developed the techniques for eliciting flase confessions that we copied.

"talk to Turkey about its own arrogance in the past like during the Ottoman freaking Empire..."

An empire that no longer exists I might add. I think Obama was talking in reference to more modern times--e.g. Bush Doctrine 2.0 and the US was guilty of many of the same things the Ottomans were in its own past.

How many signs must we read?
Haven't we all seen enough to choke a horse, as they say? The absolute arrogance and "in your face" attitude of the criminal in the White House couldn't be plainer, could it???? I guess I must be one of those (patriotic) radical extremists homeland security rants about.

I do think it is EXTREMELY dangerous what TBHO- THE BIG HONKIN' OSTRICH- in the WH is doing. He's laid several massive eggs thus far. Can't somebody start to impoach him, er, I mean impeach him before it is too late?

My sincere apologies to all ostriches.

terry_GA: "He's being made a fool of."

Yes! Sarkozy: "[H] e was elected two months ago and had never run a ministry. There are a certain number of things on which he has no position. And he is not always up to standard on decision-making and efficiency."

Sarkozy was also reported yesterday to have cracked a dubious joke about Europe’s "Obamamania." According to L’Express news magazine, he mentioned Mr Obama’s planned visit to Normandy for the D-day anniversary in June, saying: 'I am going to ask him to walk on the Channel, and he’ll do it.'"

The problem is, Obozo is such a narcissist that either it doesn't bother him, or he's in denial.

If it took water boarding to save your life, I would agree to not use it.

"The President Ties His Own Hands on Terror
The point of interrogation is intelligence, not confession."

http://online.wsj.com/article/SB123993446103128041.html

By MICHAEL HAYDEN and MICHAEL B. MUKASEY

"The release of these opinions was unnecessary as a legal matter, and is unsound as a matter of policy. Its effect will be to invite the kind of institutional timidity and fear of recrimination that weakened intelligence gathering in the past, and that we came sorely to regret on Sept. 11, 2001.

"Which brings us to the next of the justifications for disclosing and thus abandoning these measures: that they don't work anyway, and that those who are subjected to them will simply make up information in order to end their ordeal. This ignorant view of how interrogations are conducted is belied by both experience and common sense. If coercive interrogation had been administered to obtain confessions, one might understand the argument.

"The techniques themselves were used selectively against only a small number of hard-core prisoners who successfully resisted other forms of interrogation, and then only with the explicit authorization of the director of the CIA. Of the thousands of unlawful combatants captured by the U.S., fewer than 100 were detained and questioned in the CIA program. Of those, fewer than one-third were subjected to any of the techniques discussed in these opinions. As already disclosed by Director Hayden, as late as 2006, even with the growing success of other intelligence tools, fully half of the government's knowledge about the structure and activities of al Qaeda came from those interrogations."

talent scout
well said

short and to the point !!!

talent scout: Funny how these ignorant

liberals think they know so much, and have "the moral" handle on things.

(See what MICHAEL HAYDEN and MICHAEL B. MUKASEY had to say!)

I'm willing to bet that Lunatic Loony, like doofass-the-dimwit, would be singing a different tune if it was determined that "enhanced" interrogation was the last resort to save their families.

However, the real question is, would their families be singing a different tune if it meant saving Lunatic Loony or doofass-the-dimwit?

Akagi, Please

I know that the Ottoman Empire ended in 1918 and I hardly think that the Bush Doctine is the same as an Empire that waged war across a continent. In 1915 alone, an estimated 1.5 million Armenians were killed in wide-spread genocide committed by the Turks.

Unfortunately, Obama does not always specify exactly for that which he apologizing. The Turks didn't listen to what Obama said and just hear "the Bush years"; it heard much more. And, you can expand that to Obama's performance in Trinidad. "Don't blame me for things that happened when I was 3 months old", Obama stated in reference to the Bay of Pigs. Yet, he chose to sit for 90 minutes and listen to Daniel Noreiga spew hatred and anger against America and not get up and leave is ridiculous. To downplay the whole Hugo Chavez exhange is silly. That thug blames America and other countries for acts going back 5 centuries. To them, it is always America's fault when countries in Central America install Socialist, Communist, or Marxist dictators, which fail. And, if that is true, we can blame American Progressives like Teddy Roosevelt and Woodrow Wilson for interfering with the affairs of those countries, but to blame Bush for what has happened in Venezuela, Nicaragua, Bolivia, etc., is wrong-headed because he supported the Democratic country of Colombia.

Obama admits
Evidence released by Mohamed and Zabeyday was not obtained legally what are you going to do now Obama? Detain them?

If America is the bully of the world wouldn't it be a better sign of our intentions to reverse the policy of force projection? America is only acting like a bully pushing forces where ever it wants. Return the fleets.

Toss Them All Out
Right now the worst enemies of the nation are sitting up in D.C. stealing, lying, and cheating the American taxpayer while amassing enormous wealth and power for themselves. It appears that the last two presidents and the current one, as well as a majority of the criminals in Congress, had/have even grander designs that include selling the country to the 'International Community' for reasons of stupidity, hatred of the nation, greed, ideology, or a combination of any of the above. That would explain the obsession with the U.N., global warming, amnesty for illegals, the NAU, and other such garbage. This gang of thugs has already 'recreated' the nation and in doing so they have committed what I see as treasonous acts. Where we were once a proud, productive, wealthy, free nation, we are now a sniveling, apologetic, ignorant, bankrupt nation of beggars that is extremely close to living under a tyrannical regime. Obama is finishing off what Clinton and GWB advanced. In a country of 350 million people I know that there are better stewards of the nation than this bunch of trash; every last one of them should be unceremoniously chased out of office.

Explanation of the last post
Obama is a lot of rhetoric and has not been challenged by the MSM on what his policies are going to do. Obama does not seem to believe we need to act as a military deterance. Why not get our forces out of Korea? Hasn't that war been over long enough? Isn't that a South Korean problem? Does he believe North Korea is going to attack the U.S.?

The MSM hasn't asked why our allies were not able to hold Afganistan. They seem to think only America has the military power to defeat terrorists. Why? Don't they have faith in NATO?

Foreign policy
Under Bush:
"Kick a-- and take names!"
Under Obama:
"Kiss a-- and take blame!"

Somewhere between those might be productive.

liberals are the most selfish and greedy
People on this planet earth.

They are eat up with hatred, greed, pride, and bitterness.

I understand your meaning Anne about them being funny as strange, and they really are strange.

Humorous they are not, they are dangerous people.

No individual person in the world is a socialst,no person no family is socialist by belief or policy or nature.

None of them take their own goods and distribute it through the neighborhood they live in so all are equal.

No, they instead want to force others to do what they will not do and is against their own nature as it is all of us.

Socialism in all its un-natural laws is against our very nature, and their own.

They are disconnected from the use of their own minds and follow their hearts filled with envy and greed, lusts.

They lust for what others have and its been qualified for centuries as disguusting.

No man would deny the use of water boarding if his own life depended on it.
But if its someone elses life, they could care less.

Releasing National Security Information

Wobbie, if you believe that releasing information on what we have done, is going to stop one Islamofascist from cutting the heads off of American-Jews, i.e., Pearl and Berg, or torturing and murdering American militiary men, you really are flying on that delusional, phantom jet.

Allen_CA: Obama admits?????

You mean the same Obama who wouldn't authorize the DEVGRU/NSWC SEAL teams to the scene for 36 hours going against OSC (on scene commander) recommendation?

Below is an unedited email I just received from a friend in VA...

~~~~
Having spoken to some SEAL pals here in Virginia Beach yesterday and asking
why this thing dragged out for 4 days, I got the following:
1. BHO (Obama) wouldn't authorize the DEVGRU/NSWC SEAL teams to the scene
for 36 hours going against OSC (on scene commander) recommendation.
2. Once they arrived, BHO imposed restrictions on their ROE (rules of
engagement) that they couldn't do anything unless the hostage's life was in
"imminent" danger
3. The first time the hostage jumped, the SEALS had the raggies all sighted in, but could not fire due to ROE restrictions
4. When the navy RIB (Rigid Hull Inflatable Boat) came under fire as it
approached with supplies, no fire was returned due to ROE restrictions. As
the raggies were shooting at the RIB, they were exposed and the SEALS had them
all dialed in.
5. BHO specifically denied two rescue plans developed by the Bainbridge CPN (Captain) and SEAL teams
6. Bainbridge CPN and SEAL team CDR (Commander) finally decide they have
the OpArea (Operating Area) and OSC (On-Scene Commander) authority to solely
determine risk to hostage. 4 hours later, 3 dead raggies .
7. BHO immediately claims credit for his "daring and decisive" behavior.
As usual with him, it's BS.
Always nice to have a "laugh break"
when IQ29 outs himself ... HA HA HA HA HA
No one in the military would ever even think "releasing the torture memos was an act of courage."
Thanks for the chuckle! LOL
Wobbie Warbling To Imaginary People
If I am posting to an "imaginary" person, then why are you responding?
And, there you go again with your nation-building tendencies... sending troops to Somalia and calling the military "peace officers", as if they are some Justice of the Peace officials.
Separate "us from them" by elimiating pirate bases in Eyl with missile strikes. Of course, you would probably want to pay a "reward" to pirates that release vessels or terrorists that don't cut off peoples heads. I guess should AQ just shoot one of our troops in the head rather than actually cutting it off would be acceptable to you.
wimpy & limpy shorty: YOU have GOT
And like IQ29, you've not ever gotten anything "straight."
Nobody can make fool of another person. The individual makes a fool of themselves! A trait that Ovomit is good at but seems oblivious to.
Just like the many Liberal/Socialists that post here!
BE THE CHANGE
YOU WANT TO SEE IN THE WORLD.
The President of the US doesn't have control over any other country but the US.
Outward criticism is frankly without worth. The only thing that matters is what you do with what you have control over.
An uncritical president may work for an uncritical (read: ignorant) populace. But these days, we know our own history and can own up to our successes and our failures.
Addressing those failures is the job of those we elect, not trumpeting success.
The Enemy is US
I just want to say that I find this article to be ELOQENTLY PUT! There are so many truths that I wonder why some people are still wanting to follow along with his flock.
I believe Hussein's plan is to systematically cripple the U.S. Constitution and turn all citizens into global SLAVES.Hussein did say that the Constitution was old and OUTDATED! Hussein's actions are speaking louder than his rhetoric during his campaign. Hussein has repeatedly critisized and INSULTED Americans as a whole. Hussein's arrogance stinks beyond what my words can express.
Another part of the overall strategy I believe is to keep American's pointing fingers at Democrats and Republican and each other as individual citizens. Divide and conquer is his game. Hussein must figure if we keep them at each other we can use crises and other unimaginable manipulations and convince them that this is the right way to go. Then discredit all that oppose and or challenge any policies that he signs into law. Next scare us into thinking that we need to give up our civil liberties with the promise to give them back but will never give them back.
This MADNESS needs to STOP. Not all AMERICANS are as dumb and stupid as he seems to think.
I noticed that Hussein will NOT salute the American Flag. Hussein will NOT say the Pledge of Allegiance. Hussein DOES NOT RESPECT this COUNTRY. WHY IS HE IN OFFICE?
They say a person could be judged by the company they keep. What kind of company is he really keeping?
You argued for special ops missions in Somalia. Are Special Ops troops not military?
"the nation builders in the country are well the right wing of the GOP...the Right wing of the GOP has us nation building in Iraq and Afland."
First of all, tell Obama to end both wars then. As I have told you before, I was against going into Iraq and would have carpetbombed Afghanistan on 09.12.01. Lastly, if you want to look for some good evidence of "nation-building" why don't you indict the American Progressives, i.e., Teddy Roosevelt and Woodrow Wilson, since they did a lot of that in Central America?
"I also dont know of anyone who is advocating paying "rewards" to pirates that release pirated vessels."
From AP: The U.N. announced today that pirates had released one ship, the Lebanese-owned MV Sea Horse. The Togo-flagged ship was captured April 14 with 19 crew as it headed to India to pick up more than 7,000 tons of U.N. food destined for hungry Somalis.
But the release was not just a humanitarian gesture.
Pirates let the Sea Horse go after two Dubai-based Somali businessmen intervened and paid off the pirates with $100,000, said Somali clan elder Abdisalan Khalif Ahmed. The pair had been contracted by the World Food Program to pick up and deliver the food, he told The Associated Press from Harardhere, the Somali port where the freighter had been hauled to by pirates.
Also, I wouldn't have kissed the Saudi king and bowing is out of the question for an American President. You only bow to a monarch if you are his/her subject.
Damn Fool.
Hey Everyone
This is totally off topic, but I must interrupt the splendid and lively debate on this column so far.
I do this because soemthing happened today that will frost the phucking balls off of all liberals.
An appeals court decision was rendered today that incorporates the 2nd amendment rights, as affirmed by D.C. vs. Heller last June, into state and local laws. This means local govts. cannot violate those rights with their own laws.
Guess what? This is delicious. The decision was issued today by the Ninth Circuit!! That's right, the most communist court in the land! The liberals will go nuts.
Here's the defining statement by the court. The entire decision is 43+ pages.
We therefore conclude that the right to keep and bear
arms is “deeply rooted in this Nation’s history and tradition.”
Colonial revolutionaries, the Founders, and a host of commentators
and lawmakers living during the first one hundred
years of the Republic all insisted on the fundamental nature
of the right. It has long been regarded as the “true palladium
of liberty.” Colonists relied on it to assert and to win their
independence, and the victorious Union sought to prevent a
recalcitrant South from abridging it less than a century later.
The crucial role this deeply rooted right has played in our
birth and history compels us to recognize that it is indeed fundamental,
that it is necessary to the Anglo-American conception
of ordered liberty that we have inherited.17 We are
therefore persuaded that the Due Process Clause of the Fourteenth
Amendment incorporates the Second Amendment and
applies it against the states and local governments.
JD's Handson Son - I
The Nordyke Decision
Heller tells us that the Second Amendment’s guarantee revolves around armed self-defense. If laws make such self-defense impossible in the most crucial place — the home — by rendering firearms useless, then they violate the Constitution.
But the Ordinance before us is not of that ilk. It does not directly impede the efficacy of self-defense or limit self-defense in the home. Rather, it regulates gun possession in public places that are County property…
The Nordykes argue that the Ordinance is overbroad because it covers more than such sensitive places. They list the areas covered: “open space venues, such as County-owned parks, recreational areas, historic sites, parking lots of public buildings . . . and the County fairgrounds.” The only one of these that seems odd as a “sensitive place” is parking lots. The rest are gathering places where high numbers of people might congregate. That is presumably why they are called “open space venues.” Indeed, the fairgrounds itself hosts numerous public and private events throughout the year, which a large number of people presumably attend; again, the Nordykes’ gun shows routinely attracted about 4,000 people. Although Heller does not provide much guidance, the open, public spaces the County’s Ordinance covers fit comfortably within the same category as schools and government buildings.
In fact, one of the Democratic judges wrote a separate opinion today specifically to emphasize that “important governmental interests will justify reasonable regulation of rifles and handguns, and the problem for our courts will be to define, in the context of particular regulation by the states and municipalities, what is reasonable and permissible and what is unreasonable and offensive to the Second Amendment.” The legal question going forward is how broadly courts will interpret the “sensitive places” exception; given the number of lefty judges we’re in store for from The One, I’m guessing darned broadly.
And, the 9th Circuit UPHELD the ban.
JD's Handsome Son: Great News!
And you're right, it's poetic justice that it was issued by the Ninth Circus!!
But, here's my question. Are you sure the liberals even have balls, much less "phucking balls...?" LOL
It's for sure that IQ29 doesn't!
More babble from Denise
it just keeps getting worse.
Carpet bombing in Afland after 9/11 which she advocates would only have 1) killed innocent citizens and 2) churned the ground.
what was needed was a deft approach which used mostly covert means to find and kill the leadership...and special ops troops are not nation building.
Denise is like most right wingers she knows the words but doesnt have a clue how they are used.
f minus for you...
That means they wrote the article TOGETHER!
Do you get paid extra for being particularly stupid???
To Denise and Anne
Denise, yes, I know. The ban covering the fairgrounds was upheld. And yes, there will be much more litigation defining the boundaries of laws governing types of weapons etc.
However, I feel this first salvo into the issue of incorporation of constitutional rights by local governments was a good first step, especially by this court. Apparently, this issue was expected, by some, to be one of the next phases of the gun rights war, along with the definition of "appropriate" guns, i.e. assault weapons.
OK, so they can't seel guns at fairgrounds, but I have to think even in Kalifornia other areas can be found.
As to gun type bans, it's too late. Millions are out there and millions more are sold every month. The debate is over! The evidence is incontrovertible! Assualt weapons, their high capacity magazines, flash suppressors, bayonet lugs and the like are here to stay. We have them and will not allow them to be taken.
Anne, you are correct. Liberal men do suffer from testicular atrophy. Nature always adapts species to their environment and their nurturing. Scientists have observed and noted in various journals that progressive men are also developing female breasts, show serious reductions in upper body strength, and spend much of their time shopping for shoes when not bad mouthing their country.
Take You Meds Afterwards
Wobbie, after eating breakfast at the Parthenon make sure to take your meds.
I have already proven you wrong on your support of special operation forces, which are military personnel, and I have demonstrated your complete lack of knowledge of the ransom payment.
Read very slowly...
We take out manmade-disaster makers in run-of-the-mill SUVs on a sand road in Yemen and we do wipe the non-descript home of manmade-disaster makers in Pakistan off the face of the map.
You don't even rate a f minus.
Go rub your face. It is all red.
JD's Handsome Son
I wouldn't put anything out of the realm of possibility as it pertains to the nearly-communist 9th circuit. They could decide that Heller only applies to gun ownership in homes, but concealed carry weapons with a permit on public property is unreasonable. The reasonableness test is a slippery slope in any judicial ruling.
anne
your account of obama handcuffing the rescuers, then claiming credit for their success just proves how smart and devious the mulatto muslim is. first, he applies constraints that ensure another american failure if the local commander doesnt take responsibility and essentially disobey the islamic mulattos orders. as it was, the operation was a complete success, and the mulatto claims credit. if, however, the operation had been less than totally successful, the local commanders would have been severely punished. thats having your cake and eating it too. the islamic mulatto is a very wily enemy of america, and we will be lucky to escape with our lives, let alone our freedoms.
curmudgeon: That really wasn't MY
You're right, he is smart and devious! A very dangerous combination.
You're right too... he "is a very wily enemy of America, and we will be lucky to escape with our lives, let alone our freedoms."
BUT, he's not doing anything that he didn't TELL us that he'd do all throughout his campaign.
You seem to miss the point of torture. The real question is if someone killed you and we weren't sure who would you want us to waterboard to get a confession whether it was the person who killed you or not.
If the point was to save your life it would make more sense to use investigative techniques that were designed to get true information.
it is you who dont understand the point of "torture". (for real torture, consult our enemies, they are very good at it). if you were only mistaken, instead of an enemy of america, i would recommend that you read "an american in the gulag" by alexander dolgun, but i knopw you will never do that, because you might learn something. dolgun was tortured by the nkvd for 18 months then sent unsentenced to the gulag. he admitted that he would gladly have confessed to stop the torture, but the nkvd would not allow him to just confess, they wanted proof, which he could not provide because he wasnt guilty. the nkvd were experts at torture. we are babes in the woods, have no stomach for the real thing, and now fools and the mulatto want to reveal what little we did to the world to ensure that no terrorist will ever take us seriously. ever heard the term useful idiot, lon?
So, Obama accomplished nothing with his international visits? He has restored diplomatic relations with Venezuela, for one thing. Last year Hugo Chavez recalled the Venezuelan Ambassador from Washington. This was his reaction to Bush's bullying and bombast. He has now agreed to send a Venezuelan Ambassador to Washington. Instead of threatening mayhem and calling our President "the devil", Chavez is now willing to engage in diplomacy. This is a direct result of Obama's courteous and diplomatic approach to foreign policy. Tell me, is it somehow better to be on the verge of war with another country that despises us, than cooperating with that country in quest of our common benefit and good?
Frank
A man is caught having "Sex" with his maid. Rather than admit to his wife the truth. He decides to tell her she's blind. If men were not so "Stupid" they would realize; Telling the truth saves time and pain. America has been on the wrong side of history many times. Why not just admit it and move on? STUPIDITY. By the way,the wife had just finished having "Sex" with the butler. "US" are not the only ones "Guilty"?
To renny
You say "Take Obama down". We had a fair election. Obama won with a clear majority; this was not disputed---the GOP did not ask for a recount. We also had elections resulting in the present Congress. So, renny, what do we have here? 1) A democracy. 2) A democratic process. 3) An elected government. 4) A government in which you are represented (every district of the United States is represented in Congress).
When you say "take Obama down" you are saying that you do not accept the democratic process and that you wish to overturn an elected government. To you this may just be talk that makes you feel powerful, but to me it is something more, as I have lived in a country that had a dictator and I remember what living there was like. Be careful what you wish for.
You conservatives fear unlimited government power, so you wish to substitute mob power---unlimited power in the hands of those with the loudest voices, the nastiest tricks, the biggest sticks, and the most guns. However you may call this "patriotism", it is the most un-American possible response to your discontent.
No, I fail to understand how kowtowing down to Chavez and letting him use the American President as a propaganda tool will benefit us. Further, I am certain that Chavez will not welcome our interference if demand that political prisoners be released from prisons or that he hold fair elections and give up his "Presidency for Life".
The man is a dictator and we lessen ourselves when we accept him as an equal.
Btw, Bush did shake his hand in 2001 BEFORE evidence of his tyranny, drug trafficking, murder, corruption, silencer of dissent, and socialist interference with countries like Bolivia and trying to overthrow the government of Colombia.
Look at Latin America and see how many iron-fisted strongmen are installed and where political prisoners are denied due process. When Obama goes and talks to the thugs that incarcerated innocent people, he makes the blood of every freedom lover in any of those countries run cold.
"Obama Is An Ignoramus"
"year Hugo Chavez recalled the Venezuelan Ambassador from Washington. This was his reaction to Bush's bullying and bombast."
When the bullying and bombastic Chavez called Obama an "ignoramus" early last month, to what was he reacting?
lillie
if you will read a little, you wont have to prove to everyone in townhall how ignorant you are. try reading the declaration of independence. that would answer the silly questions you ask rennie. you might also read de tocqueville, who predicted very accurately what would happen to the american republic. the democratic election you are so in love with was determined principally by paid "voters" who owe their check to the democratic party, along with a motley collection of ideologues who depend on the democratic party to promote their own selfish aims at the expense of the country. read the declaration of independence.
And Sarkozy isn't impressed!!! LOL
Sarkozy pours scorn on Obama's 'inexperience'
http://www.thisislondon.co.uk/standard/article-23677294-det ails/Sarkozy+pours+scorn+on+Obama%27s+%27inexperience%27/ar ticle.do
FRENCH president Nicolas Sarkozy has labelled his US counterpart Barack Obama "inexperienced and indecisive".
The unflattering assessment of Mr Obama's political abilities came during a sweeping broadside against a host of world leaders. Mr Sarkozy has also reportedly labelled the Spanish leader as dim, the German Chancellor as clinging on to France's coat tails and the head of the European Commission as irrelevant.
0A
In the latest candid communiqués from the Elysée Palace, Mr Sarkozy was quoted as telling an all-party group of MPs that Mr Obama "was elected two months ago and had never run a ministry. There are a certain number of things on which he has no position. And he is not always up to standard on decision making and efficiency".
The French president is reportedly irritated by suggestions that Mr Obama convinced China to reach a compromise with Mr Sarkozy over tax havens, and allegedly also claimed that the US leader had "underperformed" on the issue of climate change. He is also said to be annoyed at the almost universal praise for Mr Obama in the world's media.
Claude Askolovitch, a commentator close to the Elysée Palace, wrote: "The president is annoyed at what he sees as the naivety and herd mentality."
And the Brits had him pegged in 2008
"And apparently, it’s considered impolite to say so.”
And since the Rasmussen poll clearly
shows Obozo has lost 24 points from his high point of 1/2209. He went from a + 30 to a +6 in under 90 days....
... obviously, more and more Americans are finally beginning to "get it." LOL
Wing-Nut Wobbie!
"I constantly engage and demolish the nutter ideas you put out."
Right, like the ransom for pirate ships or the fact that we use drones to take out terrorists all the time.
And, then you want to tell me about China when I owned WI in leases in the Yan An City area of Shaanxi Province, P. R. China, and did business with Petro-China.
"I dont go personal I dont call you names...it is you who quickly drops down to the gutter...because that is your standard of operation."
Let's see:
Right-wing.
Nutter.
Babbling to imaginary people, YOU, and you respond.
Gutter.
No, Wobbie, you are a perfect, little angel.
And, you should know that some Democrats, who are much more informed about Venezuela than you, have taken the same position as me.
Wobbie Proves My Point
Can anyone point to one, single incidence where Wobbie has been gracious to me?
Now Bill, you know Obozo & Chavez have
a LOT in common...
They both campaigned on "Hope & Change"
And already... in less than 100 days, Obozo has done wonders catching up to Chavez!
Bill: I only wish we'd kept all our
posts over the past year or so when we warned these liberals what Obozo was going to do.
Hell, even I'm amazed that Obozo has accomplished so much so quickly!
Obozo has made more strides nationalizing companies here than Chavez did when he wan first "elected."
You watch... 2012 election ... obozo will try to have the ballot look like a Castro or Chavez election...
Barack Hussein Obama: Yes____ No__
That's why we have to persist with these Tea Parties... There is a LOT riding on them.
It is amazing that some people want to overlook the facts that Venezuela held joint naval "war games" with Russia, has allowed Russia to place long-range bombers in the our hemisphere, has supported Ahmadinejad, has alliances with Cuba, Nicaragua, Bolivia and other socialist, Marxist or communist countries in Latin America, continues to try an overthrow the democratically-elected government in Colombia, and blames America for every one of its problems as though Chavez hasn't caused enough on his own.
The Democratic pollster, Doug Schoen, has written a great book on Chavez, The Threat Closer to Home: Hugo Chavez and the War Against America, where he draws comparisons between the actions of Chavez and Mussolini.
The fact that Obama does nothing to negate the assertion of Chavez that we are to blame is ridiculous and indicative of how weak a leader he is. Obviously, when your former, terrorist friend, Bill Ayres, attended an education seminar in Venezuela where he praised the school system, it is a pretty good indication of how radical Chavez really is and why Obama looks pathetic when he gets chummy with a thug.
Wobbie, You Are Damned Fool
This is the last time that I am responding to you, but KNOW this, you are ridiculous. Chavez is on his way out? Right, Venezuela just voted to allow him to be President for life. That really sounds like he will be receiving unemployment insurace soon. LMAO.
Have a nice life.
50 MINUTES LONG
When asked to comment on Daniel Ortega's 50 minute tirade against American injustice and imperialism Obama said "It was 50 minutes long." You will notice what Obama didn't say. He didn't say that Ortega's hateful speech was 50 minutes TOO long. Why? Click ApolloSpeaks and read my new piece: "Why Obama Endured Ortega" for the answer.
So you are saying that it took 18 months of torture for Dolgun's torturers to realize that he did not even have enough information to lie well? It apparently took us only a month of torture to learn that Abu Zabadeyah had given us all the information he had before we began to torture him.
It sounds more like the point of torture in such cases is sadism than getting information. Not surprisingly you gave an example in which torture was not effective, not even effective at proving innocence which one thinks could have been done faster.
Obviously one could look at McCain's story too in which he was tortured to get what everyone knew was a false confession and then the torture stopped.
Do you have any examples that actually support the idea that torture is used to get evidence rather than to either get confessions or to work out our sadistic urges on people who do not know enough to give a false confession?
Anne
That was an interesting article by Hayden and Mukaskey which had everything but evidence to support their claims.
Now is the time for them to make that argument, because as more evidence leaks out, their case is likely to get weaker all the time. Already the idea that they got useful information from Zubideyah and Khalid Sheik Mohammed seems to be being undercut by the available information.
Mohammed did give the information about Jose Padilla's dirty bomb. But that turned out to be fiction, so it probably shouldn't count.
If that makes one un-American, than so are those who faught the English for freedom. Heck, might as well call our vets un-American from all the previous wars we have faught. I find it simply amazing that you call those who advocate liberty and express love for the constitution un-American. Maybe you should look past your political affiliations and realize the debt the man you helped put into office is accruing.
with the crap Obama is doing and spewing. When I left the U.S. in 1971 to go to college outside of London, I felt safe BECAUSE I WAS AN AMERICAN. Today, I believe I would be a target. Let's stop the pussyfooting BS of diplomacy, apologies, and yada yada with tinpot dictators, pirates, terrorists and the like. To all the libs out there: If you are in a foreign country, let's say Turkey, and arrested for ANY reason, do you want to wallow in their deathtrap prisons while the dimwits of both parties and all U.S. government agencies try to negotiate your release with sweet talk? You'd be the first one screaming for the U.S. to exercise its might. I KNOW what I'm talking about because my husband was a prisoner of a third world country for 49 agonizing days BECAUSE HE TRIED TO COMPLY with their laws. The state department told me "he is in a world of sh!t" and brought him a roll of toilet tissue when they finally visited him more than ten days after his arrest. NOT ONE person in gubmint came to our aid. So I took it upon myself and, with the help of the public, we brought enough economic pressure in lost tourist dollars that they had to let him go. I say give ZERO foreign aid to any country who casts ANY blame on us and give no military aid as well. That will get the attention of these anti-American scumbags. And, if they mess with U.S. citizens, whether they be pirated or accused of a crime, demand that they be released to the U.S. to be freed or tried according to that country's laws. If that demand is ignored, I guess a few Navy Seals, Army Rangers, or USMC Recons can handle the problem REAL FAST. Until then ladies and gents, if you haven't figured it out yet, you are on your own out there. Obama and all in our worthless Congress wouldn't lift a finger to come to your aid. In the meantime, Obama will bow to kings and chum it up with those who hate us.
BIRDS OF A FEATHER
OBAMA,CHAVEZ,ORTEGRA FLOCK TOGETHER.
HE MUST GO
The TEA parties showed clearly who wants to save the US as the lighthouse of freedom and who is trying to destroy it. Next TEA parties, hand out flyers, tell your friends of the following truth- HE IS NOT ELIGIBLE to sit as POTUS.
Check out the dozen lawsuits insisting that he show proof that he was born in the US of TWO citizen parents. He wasn't- his own websites admit he was born a British subject through his Kenyan father. He refuses to release his original, long-form, "vault" birth certificate or college records- it's clear why! Because they would prove he is not a "natural born citizen" as required by the Constitution.
The writers of the Constitution made clear their definition of "natural born citizen"- one born of TWO US citizens, on US soil. There's a great legal summary at http://paralegalnm.wordpress.com/2009/02/27/barack-hussein -obama-a-natural-born-subject-of-great-britain/
It's no "kook" conspiracy, it's truth- read for yourself and help remove that fraud before he completely destroys the US.
OBAMA HAS LIED AGAIN
It was just announced that Obama will allow his justice department to make the decision if the Bush legal advisors on the issue of torture will be prosecuted for issuing their legal opinions to the Bush administration. This is another about face of the Obama administration. It is also another way for Obama to embarrass the USA. Or is it another diversion while they nationalize the banks, pass gun laws and gives amnesty to 11 million illegals.? Go ahead Mr. President, give the Spanish what they want as they try to prosecute our citizens.
This Islamic President might was well open the doors to our enemies and say, come on in. All of his actions during the last 100 days leads in that direction.
At first, I was concerned about this administration, now I am fearful of this administration.
Mr. Gaffney I Hear..
The majority of the commenters on your article today are calling our first African American President a lot of derogatory names, like the PogoObama name you used to make your points. I know the "Smart People" are using the only ability they have to express themselves, but I expect more from someone like you. Can't you see from there comments that they are trying to understand what you refuse to tell them. That is: The President is practicing the "tenets" of "Black Liberation Theology". If writers like you would tell your readers the truth, maybe they could focus on how to prepare for, and to deal with this, for four years, instead of trying to audition for jobs as Comedians like Jamie Foxx.
Chin Up!
I can't tell you how grateful and how inspired I am by the overwhelming majority of the comments posted here. I was afraid we might loose our country to the thinly disguised wolf in sheeps clothing parading around as our president. But I see now that this Obamination has unwittingly stoked the embers of patriotism into a raging contagious fire...something he never took into account when he was doing his cold calculating.
But how could he have possibly foreseen this? Impossible for him because he has no heart inside that hollow polished exterior. I will sleep easier tonight knowing I am in good company. Thank you all for restoring my hope. Never give up the good fight!
THE REASON FOR OBAMA'S ANTI-AMERICANISM
America is fighting two wars with one winding down and Obama doesn't want the distraction of a third war to impede his domestic plans to deconstruct our capitalist system and save the world from our country. To this end he's going to great lengths to appease and win over our enemies by defining himself as an anti-American president on the side of America's "victims." As Frank Gaffney warns it will all come to grief; grief that now seems inescapable as the man in the White House with the middle name Hussein has the same pigheaded intransigence as the mad Iraqi dictator who nothing and no one could stop, except our brave troops.
