Will the Dems' health care Christmas Present to America be an improvement or detriment to our health care system?

President Obama’s stewardship of the national security portfolio to date amounts to a wrecking operation, a set of policies he must understand will not only weaken the United States but embolden our foes. After all, the Communist agitator Saul Alinsky, a formative influence in Mr. Obama’s early years as a “community organizer,” made Rule Number One in his 1971 book Rules for Radicals: “Power is not only what you have but what the enemy thinks you have.”

According to this logic, the various steps Barack Obama is taking with respect to the armed forces, the foreign battlefields in which they are engaged, our allies as well as our adversaries will not only diminish our power. They will encourage our enemies to perceive us as less powerful – with ominous implications. Consider some illustrative examples:

The Obama administration is cutting the defense budget by 10%. The result will be to preclude much, if not virtually all, of the modernization that will be required to prepare the U.S. military to contend with tomorrow’s wars. Most of what the Pentagon spends goes to fixed – and growing – personnel-related costs (pay, bonuses, health care, etc.) and operations. As a result, at Obama funding levels, there will not be much available even to “reset” today’s forces by refurbishing the equipment they have been using up in present conflicts.

The President is on a path to denuclearizing the United States by refusing to modernize the arsenal or even to fund fully the steps necessary to assure the viability of the weapons we have. He hopes to dress up this act of unilateral disarmament by seeking to resume arms control negotiations with Russia, as though such throw-backs to the old Cold War and its bipolar power structure apply today – let alone that there are grounds for believing the Kremlin will adhere to new treaties any better than the previous ones it systematically violated.

For good measure, Mr. Obama is mounting a frontal assault on the armed forces themselves. The President plans to repeal the law prohibiting homosexuals from serving in the military. It is absolutely predictable that significant numbers of servicemen and women – including many of the most experienced commissioned and non-commissioned officers – will retire rather than serve in conditions of forced intimacy with individuals who may find them sexually attractive. The effect will be to break the all-volunteer force.

Then there are the Obama initiatives in Iraq and Afghanistan. The President’s adoption of a deadline for withdrawing most U.S. forces from the former and his signaling that – despite a near-term 17,000 troop “surge” – he is preparing to turn the latter over to the oxymoronic-dubbed “moderate” Taliban are conveying unmistakable messages to friends and foes alike: Under Barack Obama, it is better to be a foe of America than one of its friends.

This message is, of course, being strongly reinforced by the treatment he is doling out to nations in each category.

Friends like the Poles and Czechs have been left in the lurch as the Obama administration intimates that the United States now thinks Europe does not need after all to be defended against Iranian nuclear-armed missile threats. Not since Jimmy Carter abandoned the NATO deployment of so-called “neutron bombs” has a President conveyed such a devastating message of weakness and irresolution in the face of hostile threats to our European alliance partners.

Other allies have not fared much better. Israel is on notice that its security interests are going to be sacrificed to the Obama administration’s pursuit of a Palestinian state – even one ruled by a terrorist organization like Hamas (or, for that matter, Fatah) committed to Israel’s destruction. Britain has been told it neither deserves nor has a “special” relationship with the United States.

Meanwhile virtually every enemy of the United States is the object of assiduous cultivation and overtures for rapprochement by the Obama administration. It will reward IranSyria can expect the Golan Heights and removal from the terrorism list even as it pursues nuclear arms, renews its overtly colonial hold on Lebanon, supports the terrorists of Hezbollah and helps its abiding master, Iran, destabilize Iraq. for “going nuclear” with normalized relations.

As mentioned above, Russia gets to be treated like a superpower again while it arms Iran, inserts bombers and naval units into our hemisphere, wields its energy leverage against our friends in Europe, Ukraine and Georgia and squeezes our supply lines into Afghanisan. There are no repercussions for China as it makes a mockery of the administration’s beloved Law of the Sea Treaty by threatening an unarmed U.S. naval vessel in its Exclusive Economic Zone.

Last but hardly least, a “respectful” Obama administration seems keen to embrace those in the Muslim Brotherhood and like-minded Islamist organizations who seek to impose the toxic theo-political-legal program authoritative Islam calls Shariah on distant populations – and insinuate it into our country.

Can there be any doubt what America’s adversaries make of all this? Great grief will come our way if they conclude, as Alinsky surely would, that our power is waning, and that they can exercise theirs with impunity against our interests – and those of whatever friends we have left.

and this is not the worst of it
In Hal Lindsey's column today, here is how Obama treated the visiting General Ashkenazi from Israel:

'...The World Tribune reported this week that Israeli Chief of Staff Lt. Gen. Gabi Ashkenazi cut short his visit to Washington after getting an "extraordinarily cool" reception from the new U.S. administration.

General Ashkenazi reportedly attempted to arrange meetings with President Obama, Vice President Biden and intelligence czars Bob Gates, Dennis Blair or Michael Mullen. None of them would see him. He had valuable intelligence information about Iran to share with them.

The Tribune quoted an unnamed diplomat who told them, "The administration is sending a very clear message to Israel, and this is we want to talk about Palestine and not Iran."

When an Iranian-made atomic bomb hits the U.S., they may wish they had never said this.

And Israel Today is reporting that the Obama administration is not just cool to Israel. It alleges that President Obama "is about to break America's long ties of friendship with Israel, and maybe even take steps toward the dissolution of the Jewish state."

I LEARN MORE ABOUT OBAMA THAT SCARES ME ON A DAILY BASIS, BUT THIS SCARES ME MOST OF ALL BECAUSE TO OPPOSE ISRAEL IS TO OPPOSE GOD.

memories
Gaffney seems to be showing his love of recycling here. Many of these arguments seem left over from the '80s. Of course Russia was a powerful military back then, they look kind of silly now. Not every argument is time insensitive. The arguments about gays in the military go even further back to when they were arguments against integrating the military.

Some of this goes to the point of surreal. The Czechs and Poles are being abandoned because we are not protecting them from attack by Iran. That presumably is a problem because of the centuries of war between those nations. Maybe Gaffney needs to get a map. Just because the Bush adminstration made an incoherent argument doesn't mean you have to take them seriously.

It is true that the Obama approach to foreign affairs is very different than the failed Bush policies that Gaffney supported. But given the failure of the policies that Gaffney supported, the fact that the new policies are different is actually a good thing.

LON
YOU'RE JUST A FOOL. THAT'S ALL I CAN SAY.

...the Russians look silly? Think them possibly putting long range bombers in Venezuela looks silly?

Mr. Obama is the one who looks silly. To say nothing of ignorant (27 DVDs to Prime Minister Gordon Brown who couldn't watch them even if he wanted to? Returning the bust of Winston Churchill? Writing to former PM Chirac of France?). He's not ignorant or stupid, though. He's made it quite clear that he hates this country, feels he has more in common with the Islamists of the Middle East (who recognize that he is weak), and has nothing but contempt for all melanin-challenged individuals, especially in this country.

If you're melanin-challenged, and not independently wealthy, prepare for serfdom if you refuse to see this man--and his administration--for what he is. If we melanin-challenged folk who do see him for what he is have to act to remove him (hopefully without bloodshed), people like you will find yourself even more marginalized than you already are.

For the sensible posters out there, you may find my latest post of interest.

LMAO this is so crazy that it hardly bears repeating. The exact same thing was said when women were allowed into the military in large numbers. Guess what the military person of today just as back then is a professional and could care less what is waiting for you back home. This was the craziest statement you made but there are others. I didn't hear you cry out when the failed bush regime didn't repair and reequip the troops. Do you really think our military should be larger than that of all our enemies combined? Do you think that our economy can afford to carry that load? Remember the economic is a key aspect of national power. Don't you think that DoD should pay for the troops they have used up? Don't you think wounded and veteran care should be included in the total cost of war?

Frank, you lost it here.

Phoenix Lady
We currently spend more than the rest of the world combined on military technology. That will be true even if the Russians put bombers in Venezuela (which as Palin reminded us is actually further from the US than Russia's own territory.

If the cold war was still on we might seriously be worrying about the idea that the Russians were expanding their reach (not quite right since like us their reach is global, but getting other countries to say they like them) today it is more an issue of people who can't put the cold war behind them.

Russia has gone backwards on democracy during the Bush years, somehow what Bush saw in Putin's eyes did not turn out to be right. But the Soviet Empire has not returned. Anyone who needs to pretend it has to make their arguments doesn't have serious arguments to make.

Phoenix Lady
And as a point of clarification I didn't say the Russians looks silly. I said Gaffney looks silly. A rather different issue.

>>>The exact same thing was said when women were allowed into the military in large numbers.

Women & men are separated in the military, so I take this to mean- you also wish us to seperate lesbians & homosexuals based on sexual preference. Fraternization and sexual harassment (even perceived)is taken VERY seriously in the military.

Lon
>>>We currently spend more than the rest of the world combined on military technology

We won't for long with Obama so don't worry.
We will turn into our NATO allies who don't keep up with their commitments. They spend less of their GDP on the military, because they know we will bail them out. Germany is 20 years behind us in technology and we cannot even communicate well on the battlefield.
We haven't replaced the broken down equipment from the wars we are fighting. This is normal in wars, but we need funding on equipment. Obama wants to cut weapon programs that would keep that 'technological edge'. Who do you think wins wars? Those that have the best toys.

Lon
Go to the public library. Bring some string. Find a globe.

Put one end of the string on Iran and the other on the US. Move the string a little to tighten it up so it's as short as possible.

What you now have is called a "great circle route". Notice how close it is to both Poland and the Czech Republic. That's why those countries are good places to put anti-missile sites. Such sites would also protect most of Europe from Iranian missiles.

Mohammed ("sucker of goats' beards" be his name) led Islam on a crusade of conquest, murder, and slavery that continued after his death, and led to the conquest of much of Eastern Europe. The counter crusades by the West just knocked them back a bit, and shook the Moslem arrogance that led them to think they were the chosen people, destined to rule the world.

They have gradually started regaining that arrogance, thanks to useful idiots like you.

Do you really think that the enemy of your enemy is going to be your allies forever? They are right wing extremists, highly reactionary conservatives, religious fanatics who regard all the "liberals" of the world to be sinners, to be killed or forced into conversion. And they regard lying to your sort as being praiseworthy. You think you can out lie them. Hah.

Not sure which
makes me more angry. Barack Obama or the obsequious, naive fools who support him.

Hal Donahue
You must have lived a damned sheltered life in the USAF!

Homosexuals have been a problem in the Navy forever. I've had several situations where I had to take action to protect a young sailor from one or more of them, simply because the sailor was good looking and whimpy. I had one who I wouldn't let go ashore by himself, or they'd be all over him. Couldnt' discharge them because their homosexuality couldn't be proven.

I once had a first class petty officer (later a commander) who wrote me a letter from the LADY LEX -- one of the first ships to carry women. She complained mightily about the aggressive lesbians in LEXINGTON. She said: "I've got it under control. I sleep with a rack spreader (sort piece of pipe) and the hand that comes into my bunk at night will leave with a broken arm!"

Good Points
This places many of Oblama's goals into real terms. The trouble is that Oblama and friends can't conceive of this being a problem since the only game in town they consider is Washington politics. If they screw the rest of the world or at least the U.S. position in the rest of the world that doesn't matter if they can make a point against the Republicans. After all, as Jesse Jackson once said, "We are the most powerful nation on Earth. No one will ever consider attacking us."

Army Wife
The trouble is that many homosexuals look upon the military as a sex club. They don't want to serve the military as homosexuals; they want protection while they proposition everyone. (That is also called sexual harrassment in my book.) They just want to insure that the ones they proposition can't do anything about it. That is one reason they try to keep women and men apart in the military. Israel, when it first became a country, actually had them fighting side by side but stopped it when it was possible because of all the problems. The homosexuals who want to defend the country are already in the service and ignore sex as do the hetro sexuals when in the field. The homosexuals who want the change so they can join want to push sex at all times.

45Caliber
>>>The homosexuals who want to defend the country are already in the service and ignore sex as do the hetro sexuals when in the field.

I also find that you will lose far more people than you will keep. Even given a "liberal" estimates homosexuals make up 3% of the population, but I venture to guess you would have many heterosexuals who wouldn't want to serve in that "open" atmosphere.

It is a distraction. Not to mention, another way to get the gay marriage ban challenged. What if a man in Massachusetts is married to another man and he joins the military- does the federal government now have to recognize that marriage. I don't think so, but you can bet there will be years of litigation on that point.

Honest Obama: Foolish Americans
This president is doing everything he promised he would do. He is honest in that sense.

Everything he is doing is foolish, unfortunately, and those who elected him are foolish in their choice.

May God bless us and grant us another chance.

History
Read between the lines a bit and it's obvious that the rules against homosexuals in the service were more to give the military a means of cutting back on rape of recruits and other "boys". Even during Viet Nam, KY Jelly was called "boy butter" and sold next to the condoms in the ship store, so homosexuality was not regarded as any big deal.

It wasn't until the "in your face" crowd got started that the military cracked down, and it was to keep control, not to ban who humps who.

45cal has it right. The ones with control are not the problem, it's the ones who want a sex club who are the problem.

Biden the prophet
In a rare moment of lucidity, Diamond Joe Biden predicted on the campaign trail that the new Messiah would be tested on the world stage in short order, and I think Biden (for once) was right. Of course he quickly and dutifully distanced himself from his only sane utterance of the entire campaign.

The thugs of the world will find out (if they haven't already) what any sentient being in this country has already discovered (and some of us knew all along)--namely that we've elected a self-infatuated, radical, smooth-talking, half-wit who has accomplished nothing beyond the advancement of his own career and is clearly in over his head.

JFK said "We dare not tempt them with weakness." Michelle's hen-pecked husband is the living embodiment of weakness.

Well, Thank Heaven For Hurricane Katrina

I never thought that I would say it but, thank Heaven for Hurricane Katrina and faulty levees! Why would MWHs want to attack that which Mother Nature has already destroyed?

Now, Pennsylvania is another story....

Would you two like me to send a Cat 3 or higher your way?

flap ears delusion
it seems the messiah suffers from the delusion that he has the power to persuade. That once any enemy comes into his presewnce they will turn all their weapons into plowshares.

But as he said is his books which were love letters to himself, that in any conflict he will side with the muslims.

So it seems flap ears suffers from the delusion that he alone will bring about world peace and we will all be holding hands and singing choruses of kumbaya. But I guess that leaves out the wack job mullahs who insist that singing is not to be allowed.

But exactly where has the flap ear mentality that you can convince enemies to put down their weapons ever succeeded.

Hostory tells us you remain safe by maintaining a strong military. But it seems the lefties messiah and savior thinks showing your enemies you won't defend yourself is the better path.

But as is typical of lefties, once conflicts start they always find someone else to blame and always ignore their own duplicity in making things worst

nobama's friends
Think about who nobama's friends are and if that is the type of person we want to have a say in our government. No way!! He is clueless and has set the U.S. back 100 years and in just 60 days. Think what he can accomplish in 4 years. You voted for him and you deserve him. What an ignoramus!!

Hell Is Starting To Freeze Over!
However, there’s a case for feeling that Obama is floundering. He has yet to solve the banking crisis, his Treasury is horrifyingly understaffed and he somehow allowed a bunch of incompetents and thieves at AIG to walk off with massive bonuses under his nose. His stimulus package was too controlled by the Democrats in Congress and is too spread out into 2010 to have a big impact now, when it’s most needed. He is trying to take on too many things at once – from climate change and healthcare reform to engaging Iran and reforming Pakistan. The aura of his campaign has waned as the poetry of insurgency has segued into the deadly and often ungrammatical prose of government. He seemingly still can’t speak without a teleprompter. ...

Give him time. Then give him hell. That’s the philosophy most Americans understand – and they’d like this new president to succeed. They also know how deep this hole is and don’t expect it to disappear overnight. They won’t suspend judgment, but I suspect they won’t rush to it either. How’s he doing? As Koch might say: come back in a year and we’ll talk."

Oh, My!!! Even Andrew Sullivan of Palin uteromania is starting to doubt HopeNChange!!!

So when Gaffney says that the Czecks and Poles are upset that we are no longer protecting them, he means from the sonic boom of missiles passing near their territory on the way to the US. You seem to think your globe trick supports Gaffney when it really shows how dishonest he is.

Of course those missiles that are going to create those sonic booms are more technologically complex than the nuclear bombs that Iran doesn't have either.

Of course were it to get that technology it would likely have to get it from the Russians. And the Russians major problem with the West is our moving of military into countries like Poland and the Czech Republic. And, of course, this would all make a lot more sense if the missile shields actually work. When in reality they work sometimes when we know the time and place the missiles wil be sent from.

So what Gaffney is objecting to here is that Obama has decided not to put a missile shield that doesn't work in a place that makes it more likely that Iran will get help building the weapons that the shield won't actually protect from.

Some people might think that Gaffney's view is a rather silly one. Anyone who watched how well his previous views have worked would have further reason to think so.

I assume you disagree. But at least we do agree that when Gaffney pretends that the Czechs and Poles want missile defense for protection he is full of it.

The Wrecker
Four months ago, could anyone have fathomed what this man has proposed and (or) signed as leader of this country?

It is as if someone made a list of every national program and rule that had stood for decades and told him to CHANGE them. Not only change them, but REVERSE them.

We knew he did not like America. Bill Ayers,Louis Farrahkan,Jeremiah Wright and others mentored him and they have no love for the country.

Also,he has something to prove to the Muslims. He always said he would side with them if need be. He must throw Israel and others under the bus as proof. Our best days are behind us,I'm afraid.

Army Wife 1228
When Gaffney says that Obama's budget calls for cutting military spending, it should be understood by that he means that Obama's budget actually calls for an increase in spending over what it currently is. It represents a cut from the huge increase that the military was hoping for.

And the weapons systems that we likely would not be building are ones that are not all that useful in the kinds of wars we actually find ourselves fighting.

Nobody is currently even trying to build toys as good as those we have. We currently spend 1/3 on weapons systems for each of the services. This is not because magically each happens to optimally need the same amount each year. It is because we play wasteful bureaucratic games so no service feels left out. That is a stupid way to do spending. If Obama, following Gates lead, wants to end that nonsense, more power to him.

Hal's "public service"
About as good as Congress is doing...

WP: 82% of GDP in 10 Years!!!

Before reading, keep in mind that the EU average for its countries' with anemic growth is 47% of GDP...

“In the midst of this bonfire of inanities, President Obama is pressing ahead with a $3.6 trillion budget, predicated on utterly unrealistic economic growth, even as the Congressional Budget Office is now projecting that this year’s deficit will soar past $1.8 trillion, 13 percent of the US economy. This would amount, as the Washington Post reports, to ‘the deepest well of red ink since the end of World War II.’ According to the Post, the CBO is warning, ominously, that the result of this kind of borrowing and spending could lead to an exponentially expanding national debt that would ‘exceed 82 percent of the overall economy by 2019.’”

President Obama came to office proclaiming that he aims to solve problems, not hand them on to our children. Most presidents say that sort of thing. But now we are in very dire straits, and that being the case, he will be held to account. It’s your legacy, sir, and let’s not hear any more about ‘inheriting the crisis.’ You asked for the job. Meanwhile, let us hope that his talent for mastering a sérieux financial crisis are not on a level with the Special Olympians of Wall Street, and Congress.”

Windfall Tax on Retirement Income

Adding a tax to your retirement is simply another way of saying to the American people, you're so darn stupid that we're going to keep doing this until we drain every cent from you. That's what the Speaker of the House is saying. Read below...............

Nancy Pelosi wants a Windfall Tax on Retirement Income. In other words tax what you have made by investing toward your retirement. This woman is a nut case! You aren't going to believe this.

Madam speaker Nancy Pelosi wants to put a Windfall Tax on all stock market profits(including Retirement fund, 401K and Mutual Funds! Alas, it is true - all to help the 12 Million Illegal Immigrants and other unemployed Minorities!

This woman is frightening.

She quotes.... "We need to work toward the goal of equalizing income, (didn't Marx say something like this?), in our country and at the same time limiting the amount the rich can invest."

When asked how these new tax dollars would be spent, she replied:

'We need to raise the standard of living of our poor, unemployed and minorities. For example, we have an estimated 12 million illegal immigrants in our country who need our help along with millions of unemployed minorities. Stock market windfall profits taxes could go a long way to guarantee these people the standard of living they would like to have as 'Americans'.'

Hundreds of billions
I would have been encouraged but I've already seen reports that lay out for instance 300 million in condoms made in the USA (I know, but it's democrats what else do you expect them to focus on) and purchased by the FEDS to go to foreign makers including China - leaving the USA state with 300 more unemployed prophylactic workers...
So we've got this gigantic several trillion, noone really is told the actual rolling numbers of the respendable 350x2+ billion TARP+ (whereby they loan and repackage and resell and reset the money for continual use like a BANK with leverage) and I find NONE of it is really targeted to the USA economy as the "buy American wording" was REMOVED.
Next out of that gigantic pile we have a 10% military reduction ?
I'm sorry, but the democrats have sold out the USA 10x worse than anyone ever claimed the republicans had.
How about 100% BUY USA ONLY in the gigantic money spend ? Would THAT get jobs rolling ? YOU BET IT WOULD !
That should INCLUDE every single DEFENSE spending initiative - and a SHORT time period to move those industrial defense operations to US soil with US citizen workers ONLY. I'd LOVE to see that.
Just imagine how many weak kneed sissy tree hugging kumbaya libtards would have to get a defense sector job - or live up to their mouthy rhetoric and starve instead - and how their MINDSET would change - and their YAPS be smacked shut if it didn't.
Just what we need. I have a dream ... and it shall no doubt, remain, just a dream.

Lower the boom
Lon, your sci-tech illiteracy instantly disqualifies you from commenting on military matters.

ICBMs do not travel in the atmosphere, and hence do not produce sonic booms. They go into sub-orbital space, which is what Iran was really practicing with its satellite launch.

Duh.

I would suggest that we begin impeachment proceedings, but it's obvious the Sail-eared Simpleton's co-conspiritors in both Houses of Congress would pull a ~slick willie~ on us. Frank , silver lining
Frank,

Needless to say I did not vote for Obama, but I hope at least there is a silver lining in the stupid destructive domestic (economic policies) that Obama is pursuing : we will have to abandon overseas bases in europe and withdrawl from Iraq and Afghanistan . Clearly europe does not need our protection from "fairytale" Iranain missiles ! Rabid zionists like you have very vivid imaginations and the Russians have stated so on more than one occassion: the US pursues polices of a very narrow interest > Gee, I wonder whose interests are we so protective of ? Could it be Israeli Likud interests ? Frank you represent a fifth column for Israel in our country . You are a traitor . You have sacrificed our soldiers blood for nothing in Iraq. You are evil !

illogical gays in military argument
The author thinks qualified military men and women will retire or choose not to serve because of open gays in the military. That is, if the pres. gets rid of don't ask don't tell. Did this author make the same claim when the military went co-ed? Just wondering. This particular argument is idiotic and homophobic.

joseph-go after the real 5th columns
Joseph, do you even know what a 5th column is? Please go after the MSA students who chant death to Jews, Allah hu Akbar, and receive Saudi money to fund anti-American/Christian activities in the United States. Zionists should be very proud of who they are because they support the ONLY democratic country in the middle east. Unlike you, they know the difference between freedom and terrorism. Zionists have no reason to apologize for anything but you have every reason to be ashamed at your own underlying anti-Semitic, pro-terrorist delusional 5th column argument.

Brian
And that effects my point how? You are saying that my joke was not literally true? How shocking. Do you have a substanative point on the foreign policy issues under discussion?

Hal Donohue
That is a hard question to answer in the abstract. Given our military committments we need to have a large army. Some of those military committments are things that we should be unwinding like Iraq, and probably Afghanistan although I am waiting to hear Obama's plan to see what he thinks we will accomplish there.

But the troops abroad who act to prevent wars, as in Korea seem well worth it. And I don't see any advantage to giving up the technological advantage that we have.

But that said, there seems to be a lot of purchase for the sake of purchase that should go through the same kind of budget analysis that the rest of our budget goes through. The idea that military spending should not face the same kind of balances as other kinds of spending seems silly.

So in general I think the current scale of the military is fine, but that we should be looking at what kinds of things we are spending on more for the sake of having cooler toys than because we have a real military need. And if we did I think the military budget would shrink a bit.

Absolute outrage.....
The pip squeak in chief and his enablers who occupy the seats left of the aisle in congress, and those who post here attempting to justify his insane and traitorous policies are an aggressive cancer on our country. Their willful ignorance is astounding, and would be laughable if it was not so dangerous.

The pip squeak in chief can no more negotiate successfully with so-called moderate Muslims/Taliban/whatever than one can negotiate with a hive of killer bees. Killing is what they do. And destroying the hive of killer bees is the only way one can survive.

Making an error is acceptable when the consequences are minor. Choosing premium gasoline rather than regular, for example. But when the consequences of making an error can have catastrophic effect on the security of our nation, one must proceed with extreme care.

Our pip squeak is playing with catastrophe when he weakens our military, disses our allies, emboldens our mortal enemies, and generally disassembles the capitalist system that has built the strongest and best nation the world has ever seen. and he is doing it purposefully and willfully.

"A good government implies two things; first, fidelity to the object of the government; secondly, a knowledge of the means, by which those objects can be best attained." James Madison
"It is natural to man to indulge in the illusions of hope. We are apt to shut our eyes against a painful truth -- and listen to the song of that syren, till she transforms us into beasts." --Patrick Henry

POLICING THE WORLD
The USA military has carried the burden of policing the world for the past 50 years. One reason for the success of the Cold War with Russia was that we won the arms race while Russia went broke trying to keep up with the arms race. We can't return to that situation nor continue to the carry the burden of policing the world.

France is rejoining NATO as they should. European countries need to stand up for their own protection and security. While I believe we need to maintain a strong military for our country's security, do we really need military bases all over the world? I have been to almost 70% of our foreign military bases and see a great deal of expense to maintain them.

I can't see Obama's administration breaking our ties of friendship with Israel. If he does that, Israel will unleash hell on the Middle East. No girly men in their military.

Americans under surveillance
Hope that no one is Anti-Abortion, a war protester, a Ron Paul supporter, a member of a third party, or a member of the Campaign for Liberty. If you are you may be "on the radar" of the U.S. Government.

Hal Donohue
Nope. What I said in no way proved your point.

All services have problems with honosexuals -- big problems.

The problems in the Navy are worse because sailors live closely together.

Pray tell how enlisting more honosexuals is going to solve the problem?

Hal Donohue
The problem can impact command readiness.

I once had a department head thought to be honosexual. His fellow officers did not associate with him outside of duty requirements. None went ashore with him either. He was a running joke to his subordinates. That said, he was a good officer in my opinion and did a very good job. I raised hell and one-half of Georgia with the troops when I heard them joking about him -- and probably did some illegal things in threating them too. We were a gunline ship in the combat zone with bigger things to worry about than his lifestyle -- particularly when I'd never seen him bother anybody.

I doubt that I changed anybody's mind, but they kept quiet about him aboard ship for fear of getting crossways with me and because I made a point of going ashore with him once in a while. (The crew knew I was straight.)

The crew was estatic when he was relieved even though his relief was a total a%% and, in my opinion, not nearly as competent.

All the regulations in the world will never make people accept shipmates with whom they do not want to associate. I can't speak for the other services, but a sailor has to fit in with shipmates. Honosexuals (real or suspected) are outcasts among their shipmates and that creates a serious morale problem.

It would be nice if this problem did not exist, but it does and likely always will.

OBAMA, APPEASEMENT AND WORLD UPHEAVAL
Everywhere the question is being asked "Is Barack Obama a patriotic American?" The answer is no, he is not, at least not as the word is commonly understood as one who loves his country above all earthly things. For before all else Obama is a "world citizen," a humanitarian idealist whose loyalty is to the good of humanity before the interests of our country-the interests that he swore to "uphold and defend" in his bungled oath of office. In Obama's mind our capitalist democracy is a danger to the world and poorly serving it: poorly serving its peace, its security, its environment and climate, its poor, oppressed, downtrodden peoples. America, in short, is no longer a good world citizen and must be saved from itself and radically changed; saved from the small-minded, patriotic, warmongering nationalist Right; saved from the sins of greed, profit seeking, self-centeredness and individualism; saved from men like Joe the Plumber and the menacing Rush Limbaugh. In short, we must be saved from the old America of Ronald Reagan and John Wayne and join the New Age of enlightened world servers if humanity and our imperiled planet is to survive.......

It Has Got To Be Disappointing!!
That you work so hard writing these types of articles to educate some of our TownHall readers, that apparently dropped out of school in the first grade. It is not just a difference of opinion about weaknesses. In my view of Army Wife and the rest of these Israel and America haters who voted for Obama is that "Common Sense" is not in their DNA. Where did Science go wrong when they cloned them? I thought Science could do the same things GOD could do. I guess not, they all sound just like Al Gore when he is screaming into a microphone in China, Russia,North Korea, or the Appeaser Nation of Great Britain....that is under Gordon Brown. Booo!!....That's right Army Wife and the rest of you Liberal Socialist Experimenters..
there is no need to listen to Mr. Gaffney, be fearful or just prepared.....I ain't nothing but a "Man Made Disaster" that killed thousands of Americans on 9/11, and have not stop killing innocent men, women, and children, and American Soldiers since.

betrayal
Obama about to betray Israel, says former intel official

A former top US intelligence official warns that the Obama Administration is about to break America's long ties of friendship with Israel, and maybe even take steps toward the dissolution of the Jewish state.

Speaking on condition of anonymity to Douglas Hagmann of the Northeast Intelligence Network, the source said:

"I have every reason to believe, based on what I’ve seen at my level of [security] clearance especially over the last several years, that Israel will soon be completely on their own… or worse."

He went on to note that the betrayal likely won't happen in one dramatic moment, but rather subtly, behind the scenes, and over the course of several years.

The Obama Administration is preparing to "provide more support to Arab countries [with] financial and military aid, undercutting Israel’s defense efforts all while pushing Israel to succumb to the pressure of unreasonable demands designed to end with their political annihilation as a nation," said the source.

Israeli officials have of late noted a marked increase in the pressure from Washington to more rapidly acquiesce to Arab land-for-peace demands, and US Secretary of State Hillary Clinton has clarified that Washington is none too pleased with incoming Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu's refusal to commit to the creation of a sovereign Palestinian Arab state with Jerusalem as its capital.

I'm married to a 26 year career Navy man who is now retired and he's given me this same viewpoint. Your experience with a gay man in the navy was a good response to radical Hal. They just don't get it do they?

After all, who can resist a man in uniform?

International Policy: Wrecking Operation
Publicly, the international community will laud the pretender for his “brilliant diplomacy”. Privately, they will gloat, laugh, and point at the gullible buffoon in the White House and the greatly reduced influence of the U.S. on the world’s stage.
