Will the Dems' health care Christmas Present to America be an improvement or detriment to our health care system?

Totalitarians have an uncanny appreciation for the subversive effect of foreign propagandists. The Nazis had Lord Haw-Haw, Imperial Japan its Tokyo Rose, the Soviets the World Council of Churches (among many others) and the North Vietnamese Jane Fonda. Now, our time’s totalitarian ideologues – the Islamofascists – have the New York Times.

This may not seem to be exactly a news flash. After all, the Times has been rendering invaluable service to the enemy’s information operations and military campaigns for years. To cite but a few examples: In December 2005, the paper disclosed a highly classified program for monitoring suspected terrorists’ communications on this war’s global battlefield. In June 2006, it revealed another enormously sensitive surveillance effort concerning movement of funds around the world. And practically every day, what passes for its news pages and editorials run down the Nation’s leadership, military and progress in defeating our foes.

The New York Times marked a deplorable new milestone this weekend, however – a true nadir in collaborating with the enemy in the War of Ideas. Its Sunday magazine featured an article by Harvard law professor Noah Feldman entitled “Why Shariah? Millions of Muslims think Shariah means the rule of law. Could they be right?” According to the Times’ Mr. Feldman, the answer is a resounding “Yes.”

The disinforming character of this essay is evident to the trained eye from the opening paragraph. Feldman depicts sympathetically the Archbishop of Canterbury, Rowan Williams, who “gave a nuanced, scholarly lecture” recently in London. Dr. Williams we are told offered “the tentative suggestion…that, subject to the agreement of all parties and the strict requirement of protecting equal rights for women, it might be a good idea to consider allowing Islamic and Orthodox Jewish courts to handle marriage and divorce.” Then, it seems through no fault of his own, “all hell broke loose” on the poor, thoughtful clergyman.

Actually, what the head of the Church of England declared on the BBC was that it was “unavoidable” that Shariah law – a theo-political-legal code that the Islamofascists seek to impose on Muslims and non-Muslims alike in all of its barbaric, intolerant, totalitarian and misogynistic glory – will be observed in the United Kingdom. The man now derided as “the Grand Mufti of Canterbury” was exhibiting the classic symptoms of an unbeliever who chooses to submit to the rule of Islam, rather than accept the other choice under Shariah, namely being put to death. The former is known as a dhimmi.

In an article that can only be described charitably as selective in its rendering of the facts, Feldman paints a portrait of Shariah that would earn admiration from the inventor of the Big Lie, Adolf Hitler. In fact, the text could have been written by the Muslim Brotherhood – an Islamofascist movement that is, by its own documents, charged with “destroying [the United States] from within” and “by its own hands.” Actually, it is no exaggeration to say that the Times’ Magazine has provided a six-page advertisement for the Brotherhood, effectively portraying it as a force for democracy and the rule of law that would make Thomas Jefferson swoon.

The Harvard professor, who helped write the new Iraqi constitution with its requirement that all laws must conform to Shariah, seems open to the Islamofascists’ determination to have the same apply elsewhere. He concludes with this rhapsody: “…With all its risks and dangers, the Islamists’ aspiration to renew old ideas of the rule of law while coming to terms with contemporary circumstances is bold and noble – and may represent a path to just and legitimate government in much of the Muslim world.”

Let’s call this what it is: a paean to dhimmitude. The people who are actually going to have to “come to terms with contemporary circumstances” are not the Islamists. They are hewing to the immutable traditions of Shariah going back to the 9th Century, as interpreted by the consensus of the faith’s “authorities,” the only figures allowed to speak for Islam.

It is the cruelest of delusions to contend that such Shariah law will produce “just and legitimate governments” anywhere. Feldman struggles to explain why it isn’t so in two of the four places ruled by Shariah today – Iran and Saudi Arabia; he doesn’t even try to do so with respect to Sudan or Gaza, let alone the nightmare that formerly was Taliban-ruled Afghanistan.

Sunday’s New York Times article could be chalked up to another travesty by a paper that has long since lost its way, but for one fact: It comes at a moment when the Islamofascists are poised to make a potentially decisive breakthrough. Unless action is taken swiftly, they will achieve a strategic penetration of Wall Street in the form of “Shariah-Compliant Finance” (SCF). Confusion, let alone deliberate disinformation, about the true nature of Shariah, constitutes an invitation to disaster.

After all, the calamitous credit crisis is vaporizing such pillars of American capitalism as Bear Sterns. Other investment houses and commercial banks are desperate for cash. Islamist Sovereign Wealth Funds (more accurately described as Dictators Slush Funds) and other champions of SCF are offering to recycle trillions of dollars here – if only Wall Street will allow Muslim Brothers and other Islamofascists to call the shots, dictating who gets capital and credit on the basis of Shariah adherence. Archbishop Williams judged Shariah law unavoidable in Britain in part because the UK has already embraced Shariah-Compliant Finance.

If we fall for this deadly Trojan horse and the seditious Shariah agenda that animates it, the New Dhimmi Times and Professor Feldman will deserve no small portion of the blame.

Hey Alchy, go back into the bar!

And We Can't Forget The ACLU
Yes Frank, the "New Dhimmi Times" indeed, are we keeping score-they did out, the "SWIFT" program, and who can forget the Gitmo koran flushing outrage waged by "NDT" and their ACLU pals.
Oh! Oh! I know, remember the lawsuit filed in Minnesota after the snakes-I mean Imams on a plane incident and now there are foot-baths in the Minnesota airport, who would've thunk it, in Minnesota in an airport foot-baths, Oh! Oh! and once you get to Minnesota don't forget, no pork rinds or bacon cheese burgers or pork products of any kind can be eaten in cabs.
How Islamic tolerant are we? even in public schools in Dearborn, Michiganistan and again in Minnesotanistan it's traumatic for Islamic kids to be taught about the Holocaust but the Barbary Coast pirates are okay.
No minoras during christmas time and eventually no, well, merry christmas, it's all happy holidays now, WOW!
Anyway, I've decided since we're adopting these new Islamic trends to incorporate Kosher Pork Falafels into my diet, and to wash it all down, a diet pepsi.

Primus54, ModMark
Having studied religions for untold number of years (and you won't know how many, because I refuse to divulge my age), I can agree with both of your assessments to a certain point. The only thing I wish to contribute is that, while religion has been used in the manner ModMark describes, most major religions have gone through a reformation of some kind; in other words, they have evolved to keep up with current mores. Even Hinduism has started to accept the deconstruction of its caste system. While that maybe some time away, at least the process has begun.

The only major religion that has not reformed is Islam. It is forbidden to change the meaning of any word in the Quran. So, ModMark, I would venture to say, you describe current Islam perfectly, but not the current major religions we have today.

And, yes, Primus, Hal had a great St. Paddy's Day.

Shell game
Islamic lending practices are a shell game. Shariah forbids charging interest for loans, but all Islamic banks in the Middle East charge 'fees' for the loans they provide, which equal the amount that would be collected in interest. It's total hypocrisy. Shariah finance on Wall Street or in any other capitalist market is just the camel's nose under the tent.

Interesting that I find some merit to your 7:22 AM post - must be a first for me.

While I am convinced in the existence of a "higher power", my beliefs do not fall under the catechism of any particular organized religion - as I find too much human manipulation present in their doctrines.

Having said that, I do believe that most religions exist as a method to influence man's/woman's behaviors in an attempt to curb our selfish nature and to inspire "goodness", however that's defined - noble goals, to be sure.

It is when doctrine allows man to embrace his baser instincts of violence, pride and ego to "convert" others that religion demonstrates its man-made imperfections.

As an instrument to encourage equality and harmony, the US Constitution may be one of the finest examples ever produced by man.

Another cogent and well thought-out contribution to this discussion from the Townhall village drunk.

Must have been a helluva St. Paddy's Day party for old Hal.

Mr. Knight
Many of your posts border on logical. Your first post can best be described as "far inland."

Mr. Boutte
You said, "might discover the sharia way of banking, in which lender and borrower share risks and rewards more equitably than under the system favored by Israel First financiers."

You might amend to "lender and male, non-Jewish borrower." Incidentally, Jews who follow The Book cannot commit usury.

The left has always been the enemy
of the West, democracy, and capitalism.

Capitalism grows wealth, something no other system of economics permits. It converts the impulse to acquire assests by the theft of war or oppression through the expansion of credit and savings.

Despite the housing crisis, partly caused by newly-concocted hedge funds and other risky forms of investment, 70 percent of the Americans own their own homes. Ownership brings stability, permanancy, and responsibility. It is an excellent goal for a mature society.

If capitalism has extremes of cycles or greater product and later contraction, the gov. has implaced a host of alternatives from workmen's comp to Medicaid to help people over the down cycles.

Shar'ia law accounts women and non-Muslims the way Jim Crowe treated post-Civil War blacks in the South. Women and the infidel have fewer rights and protections and many more impositions--one being an extra tax, certainly without representation.

The Koran says nonbelievers of the Book (Bible) should be allowed to convert, but if not, they should be taxed, a la the Copts in Egypt. If the infidel refuse to pay the tax, they should be killed.

Islam blazed across Asia and Africa through incessant warfare and pogrom 1500 years ago. Its underlying compulsion to conquer and convert remains dangerous and horrendous all this time later.

Aurorawatcher Is Correct
I live way down south and my wife attends one of the new evangelical churches down here.

South America used to be almost entirely Roman Catholic. Aurorawatcher is correct with just one caveat. Muslims are making significant inroads here, not in the same numbers as Evangelicals, but significant none the less.

One of the largest Saudi Wahhabist mosques you will ever see is just a few hundred yards from the U.S. Embassy. It takes up almost two city blocks of the most prime real estate in the entire country.

knight_of_baawa
Dhimmi is not name calling.

It's a class of people under Islamic law who remain infidels but are allowed to continue to live in Islamic countries. For this privilege dhimmis are allowed to pay additional taxes and to submit to whatever indignities the Islamic authorities choose to impose on them.

Under Islamic law, then, there are three kinds of people: Believers, Dhimmi, and dead.

If it is used as a perjorative, has the title been earned?

Just as I expected. I asked you to define the word and you did not even try. You obviously don’t have a clue as to what the word, dhimmi, means.

Read at least one book by Bat Ye’or and then get back to me.

LMAO Frank
Hey sissy, time to go back to the bunker. I know you are not embarrassed - you should be

Way Down South
On TH, the word is used as a pejorative to describe "democrats".

QEMFD

guardianrule
Actually, the fastest growing religion in most of South America is evangelical Christian of various denominations and several non-denominations. There has been a great deal of conversion from the Native religions among tribespeople and the Catholic Church is losing numbers seemingly by the day. The Southern Baptist denomination is among the top three non-Catholic groups in most countries. This is according to my pastor, who is of Hispanic descent and who worked in South America for many years as a spy for the US military (think Shining Path).

I am not denying there may be some Islamic conversion going on, but it's nowhere near as prevalent as you present it. If anything, South America shows every sign of the being the future stronghold of evangelical Christianity.

Sir baawa

Your 6:36 p.m. post is jaw-dropping in its gall. Of all the posters on this site, you are the LEAST qualified to scold anyone for name-calling.

Dreadnaught/WAY Down South

Just guessing, but I believe that Guardianrule is predicting that America's future is to be overrun by Mexicans, not Muslims.

Dreadnaught
I live about as far South as you can go and have no idea what the heck Guardianrule is talking about.

just asking, I wonder
Dear Guardianrule:

If you'd be so kind; what is it "south" you think might be our future ?

knight_of_baawa
Unless you have read the works of Bat Ye'or, you know nothing about the use of the word Dhimmi.

She, more than anyone else in the West, is responsible for making open minds think about these issues.

Have you read any of her works?

If you have, please impress us by defining the word!

I remember a column several months
ago, decrying name-calling.

And yet here we have a columnist calling people he disagrees with "dhimmis".

You think TH columnists might have some consistency.

I'll make them a deal
Islam is one of the fastest growing religions in Central/South America and parts of Mexico. If we don't secure our borders, shari'a law *is* our future.

But I'll at least concede to considering the matter when all liberal, jidhadi apologists, and the like spend two years living in a country that has shari'a law on the books. When they realize that:

1) Women must be covered from head to toe at all times.

2) Women cannot leave the house without a male escort, and that male escorte MUST be a relative.

3) Non-related or unmarried women and men are forbidden to interact in public (or private).

4) Gays are executed.

5) Music and movies are haram (forbidden).

6) Terrorists care little for the environment.

(and that's the short list)...then they'll see why shari'a isn't a tolerable rule of law in any Western democracy.

Unless of course that democracy wants to die by degrees.

Liberals will be very sorry the day shari'a takes over.

Its all going to happen anyway...
I can easily see sharia becoming law of the land in europe. They are already atleast 33% muslim, however I don't think we have anything to worry about when it comes to sharia here. If we want a picture of our future we should look south.
