Will Congress pass Obamacare by the end of the year?

Suddenly, a new national debate is beginning about the national security, economic and other implications of Persian Gulf potentates using their petrodollars to buy up strategic American assets. Most recently, the Emir of Dubai’s purchase at fire-sale prices of 4.9 percent of the largest U.S. bank, Citigroup, has caused a level of unease not seen since he tried to buy his way into a large number of this country’s port facilities.

Almost completely unremarked thus far has been a parallel – and in many ways far more insidious – effort to penetrate, influence and dominate America’s capital markets: so-called “Shariah finance.” Some estimates suggest that there are approaching $1 trillion now being invested around the world under this rubric. If present trends continue, all other things being equal, such funds may grow to many times that amount within a few years.

Shariah is, of course, the term used by adherents to the totalitarian ideology practiced by the Saudi Wahhabis, the Iranian mullahs and the Taliban to describe the all-encompassing theocratic code they use to justify repressive rule at home and to extend their dominance elsewhere. While it is often depicted by its promoters as Koranic in character, in fact, it is largely man-made, the product of dictates and rulings by caliphs and scholars over many centuries.

For non-Muslims, Shariah is best known for its sanction for the brutalization of women, homosexuals and Jews. Beheadings, amputations, flagellation and stoning are among the prescribed punishments for those who transgress this barbaric code, punishments plucked from primitive tribal practices in the Arabian deserts dating back to medieval times.

As a recent, excellent paper by my colleague at the Center for Security Policy, Alex Alexiev, points out, however, Shariah finance is a relatively contemporary innovation. It was not until mid-20th Century that Islamofascist ideologues like Abul ala Mawdudi and Sayyid Qutb introduced the notion that faithful Muslims must invest their wealth only in vehicles that comply with Shariah’s putative prohibition on interest. In the decades that followed, relatively few in the Muslim world followed this admonition as most Muslims regarded with appropriate skepticism financial schemes that generally were not reliable investments, especially those that went to almost-farcical lengths to conjure up returns without acknowledging they amounted to interest payments.

Until now. In recent years, the windfall revenues flowing to the oil-exporting nations of the Persian Gulf have translated into an opportunity for the Islamists who dominate their societies to enlist the West’s leading financial institutions as partners in promoting Shariah finance. In overseas capital markets and increasingly on Wall Street, “Shariah advisors” are being hired at great cost to bless investment instruments as compliant with this religious code.

As a result, three ominous things are occurring:

First, Shariah finance creates a mechanism for systematically legitimating the underlying, repressive theo-political regimen – and, thereby, advancing its adherents’ bid to govern all Muslims and, in due course, the entire world.

Presumably, Western bankers and investment houses would be horrified to know they are helping promote such arrangements. One would think their governments would be, too. Yet, the former are so avidly pursuing Mideast wealth that few seem prepared to engage in even the most superficial due diligence about the implications of Shariah finance. And British prime minister Gordon Brown, for example, has declared he intends to make London the Islamic finance capital of the world. His government has said it intends to issue its own sukuk (or “Shariah-compliant” bonds) sometime next year.

The trouble is that, having embraced one aspect of Shariah, it will be vastly more difficult, if not as a practical matter impossible, to deny Islamist activists their demands to accommodate other aspects such as: footbaths in public institutions, prayer rooms and time off for prayers in both public and private sector establishments, latitude for cab drivers and cashiers to decline to do business with certain customers or handle certain products, an Islamist public school in Brooklyn, etc. Like Shariah finance, each of these is but a beachhead in the Islamofascists’ patient, determined and ultimately seditious campaign to subvert and supplant Western free societies.

Elsewhere in some of those societies, such inroads have been expanded to include: demands for Shariah-compliant schools as in the UK; a push in Canada for separate shariah courts for all matters within the Muslim community; Shariah tolerance for honor killings of women attempted in Germany; destruction of non Shariah-compliant businesses in dedicated “Muslim enclaves” in France; and in various countries, Shariah-approved assassinations of critics of Islam and anyone leaving Islam worldwide.

Second, the Shariah advisors hired by Western capitalists to determine whether investments are “halal” (the Muslim equivalent of kosher) are generally among the foremost adherents to the Islamist creed and associated with organizations that promote it. As one of them put it, Shariah investing is simply “financial jihad” against the unbelievers.

Third, under the direction of these Shariah advisors, at least 2.5% of the proceeds of the investments they control are donated to Zakat funds. Some of these “charities” have been known to contribute to organizations like Hamas, Hezbollah, the families of suicide bombers in Palestinian communities and Islamist madrassas in places like Pakistan. As investment advisors start promoting Shariah finance vehicles and Islamic indexes like Standard & Poors and Dow Jones, non-Muslim Americans will find themselves tithing to these dubious causes, as well.

Before the Trojan horse of Shariah finance is fully wheeled inside the gates of the American capital markets, federal regulators, corporate boards of directors and U.S. shareholders need to understand whether such investing conforms with the good governance and accountability required under Sarbanes-Oxley, the transparency depositors are entitled to under our banking laws and legislation barring material support to terrorism. To do otherwise is to invite the introduction of the instrument of our undoing into our capitalist system and the freedom-loving society it underpins.

"Before the Trojan horse of Shariah finance is fully wheeled inside the gates of the American capital markets, federal regulators, corporate boards of directors and U.S. shareholders need to understand whether such investing conforms with the good governance and accountability"

The greedy whore's of this country have no problem doing business if the bottom line shows
a profit. Whether its using illegal aliens for labor, commerce with communist China or sleeping with terrorists. Its all about the money!

It's Frightening
Shariah compliance will be the new race baiting of this century. What I mean by that will be followed up by several posters who will accuse the author of being a racist and an Islamophobe for having absolute cognitive insight on the world around us, and speaking out about it.

The UK and the US have their established laws based on democracy. Yet, one by one, little by little, some UK communities are being over-run by Shariah law and now the Prime Minister wants the UK to be the Islamic Shariah finance capitol of the world.

We have Keith Ellison in office who already broke tradition, is unabashedly anti-American, we have foot baths and cabbies who refuse patrons based on their Shariah laws.

If it were September 20th, 2001 and you read this article, would you believe your eyes? Would you see the magnitude of danger we are putting ourselves in for political correctness and the mighty dollar?

Michael Savage is fighting back and is filing a law suit against CAIR---another Shariah Islamic organization which is slowly trying to tear down American stability through petty law suits and fear.

If we lay down and sleep on this, it will be way too late. FIGHT BACK.

Interesting at least, maybe frightening.
but I mostly find it ironic, an organization under investigation for laundering drug money until its chairman Mr. Robert Rubin became the SecTreas under President Bill, is now doing so poorly that it could be taken over by a foreign entity for half its supposed value, and still nobody but an Arab sheik wants to touch it.

I say let them have it, and its people. Let all Citicorp's people become slaves to the Islamists. they deserve it. And any Americans still doing business with them deserve the same. If there is a just God they will all be in the same paradise soon: no virgins, no ice water, just lots and lots of heat.

BTW, I don't like Citicorp.

It's Coming
The venal, the politically correct, the fashionably anti-American, and the just-plain-ignorant have all become foot soldiers in the march towards cultural subjugation. When that day arrives, needless to say, the political subjugation will become a reality as well.

Twentieth century history reads like a how-to recipe for achieving results like these. The rise of politically-engineered socialism, godlessness, and communism in this country have all been achieved, not by direct assault, but by long term subversion. So much so, that by the time success has been achieved, it is a non-event.

So subtle has been the subversion that even today many people are either not aware that it has occurred or if they are, are actually approving of it. Maybe not with the correct labels I have assigned to them, but under the auspices of more benign and "enlightened" euphemisms. But they are entrenched nonetheless.

The Seeds of Our Own Destruction
When I was a kid during the 1960’s, I can recall hearing prophecies of things to come that I found incredulous at the time, but in hindsight have been borne out completely. I could not fathom how anyone could credibly believe that people would accept such a state of existence as would be described, should anyone try to force it on us. Of course, what I did not know then was that no one would attempt to force people to accept it all at once. Instead, it would insinuate itself, little by little until people became accepting of it. So much so that people would actually begin to demand it.

And so we have progressed within the space of 30 years, first from a position of near-universal revulsion at a particular concept, then to a little forced concession here, then a little there. Then to “there’s no law against advocating for something like that” to “maybe a little of that would not be such a bad thing.” Then to “maybe we need a whole lot more of that” to “there’s something wrong with the people who oppose this sort of thing.” And then finally to “thereshould be laws to prevent people from speaking out against such things.”

What ideas and concepts am I talking about? You tell me. I bet you can think of several. I know I can.

Subtle Caliphate
There are more ways than one to win a war and Ronald Reagan proved you can bring down an entire empire without firing a shot if you're willing to spend enough money. Bye-bye, USSR.

So, the oil-rich states can afford to buy into American corporations. To some this might seem harmless -- just businessmen making business decisions. Sometimes, it may very well be harmless. I have American friends who were born in the Middle East of Arab parents. They are now US citizens and some own businesses. I don't think they're planning to take over the US with their financial acumen. They've assimilated. A couple are Christians.

However, Gaffney makes an important point here. Nobody's watching. Citicorp will now become a strong company once more and it will expand into the US economy. Maybe that's a good thing. Maybe it's not. What you do with a corporation is much more flexible than what you do with a government agency. The Constitution doesn't really speak to private businesses. So, can Citicorp be used to turn the US into dhimmis? Well, how many of us owe our soul to the credit card companies currently? How vulnerable does that make us?

Yeah, that big sinking feeling you're having -- that might just be intuition telling you we're headed for deep kimshee.

Dale, you don't like Citicorp now. Imagine how you're going to feel if they call the loan on your house -- or thousands of houses nationwide. What sort of power can they wield if they choose to? A lot more power than most of us even consider!

Subtle Caliphate
Aurorawatcher, you understand exactly why I dislike Citicorp. I was once hooked by the nose to one of their credit cards. With the help of an inflamed appendix and a bankruptcy court I became free. But I, too, feel for those who are still slaves to that outfit.

If I had just found it difficult to get free I would not feel such animosity to them. But they made my life hell for many years. They have methods which truly make it impossible for most of us to get out from under the load of their cards. I will never give a credit company that kind of power again. And I hope that other Americans will burn their cards and get free also.

funny
It's funny. If capitalism works as its strongest aherents claim then there should not be a real threat here. After all the sharia approved bonds will have investment portfolios which instead of trying to maximize profits, maximize profits within some artificial constraints. So investments that lack the seal of approval should do better than those that have it.

Additionally diverting a portion of earnings from profits to islamic charities should also make these investments comparative losers.

So is the threat here based on the assumption that capitalism doesn't work as it is supposed to? How are we at threat by people coming into our economic system and investing poorly?

Lon

"So is the threat here based on the assumption that capitalism doesn't work as it is supposed to? How are we at threat by people coming into our economic system and investing poorly"

While this isn't my area of expertise, I believe the practice of capitalism to be a separate issue. It is the accommodation of Islamic law within the practice of business and the ramifications therein. It seems we in the west, at least those in power through business or politics, are always willing to give someone else's farm or chance to build one away. There are only so many "farms" to dilute and distribute, and once the picnic is over here, there isn't much of one anywhere else for used up serf/Americans.

In addition, so much is hidden and disguised once either business or governmental powers become too large and centralized.

Blame the Demopublicans
Frank Gaffney, as usual, is hyperventilating. But even if we believe his hallucinations about the West falling under Shariah law, who's to blame? Who ran up the Federal debt to unmanageable proportions, resulting in eventual devaluation, and the demise of the dollar as the world's reserve currency?

The Demopublicans, of course. George Bush is guiltier than most in this regard.

Paolo
Weve been eroding for the past 40 or so years in a variety of ways. I find nothing hard to believe about the west falling under sharia law at some point. The average "educated" American cannot name the three branches of government or explain how American government works. That which made America great isn't known, so it will not be difficult at all to supplant our laws with others that start out seeming worldly and diverse.

for Lon
Lon writes: "If capitalism works as its strongest aherents claim then there should not be a real threat here. After all the sharia approved bonds will have investment portfolios which instead of trying to maximize profits, maximize profits within some artificial constraints. So investments that lack the seal of approval should do better than those that have it."

It's not an economic threat we're worried about; it's a strategic threat.

During the controversy over the proposed Dubai ports deal, our concern was NOT that Dubai might fail to operate U.S. ports profitably, but that they could use this operation as convenient cover under which covert espionage and terrorism could take place.

We're already seen how Islamic charities siphon off some of their funds to support terrorist organizations.

What makes you think that radical Muslims, put in charge of American businesses, wouldn't siphon off some funds to support terrorism too? Today's financial market with derivatives is so complex that nobody can figure out some of those transactions except those who participated in them. It would be very difficult for the FBI to trace whether any of the money is supporting groups or enterprises hostile to U.S. interests.

Tolerance Is Slowly, But Surely Killing
America. When we tolerate something we do not approve, it becomes a little less wrong. Then, next thing we know, our children are saying, "Everyone else is doing it. Get with the times." Then, we start doing it ourselves. This process is repeated over and over, and next thing you know, the President has an adulterous affair in the Oval Office, and it is no big deal. Now I gotta go throw up.

For All
Wouldn't it be nice to have all of these wonderful Shariah dollars invested in western banks and securities companies?
Then we could FREEZE their assets, bankrupt them, and return these Shariah-loving hordes back to the Dark age that they so desperately long for.
Strategery!
If only we had people in charge, who could actually pursue such devilish revenge!

In the mean time, I have taken to naming each of my doggies' stools, Mohammed!

Mohammed! Mohammed! Mohammed!

Must keep the yard tidy and free of little piles of Mohammed!

Angry White Male
Too bad we can't get some of those self-important Hollywood leftists to go to Sudan and go on the public record with a naming convention like yours.

Now THAT would take courage.

Unfortunate
This is fear-mongering at its worst. UAE is no shining democracy on a hill, but neither is it terribly oppressive. Due to the nation's wealth, they have extensive healthcare. New couples receive starter homes. As far as sharia law, prostitution is rampant there- not that its a good thing, but it puts a lie to the notion that they live by a strict Islamic code. The US State Dept. site shows how in Dubai, most cases go before civil courts that are Western in nature. A smaller share go to Sharia courts where there are religious disputes between Muslims.

Non-muslim populations in Dubai can congregate in houses of worship. There is a degree of religious tolerance. So before we all allow people like Frank Gaffney to frighten us with this notion of "sharia money", let's understand the nature of the people he's referring to.

Here is from the WhiteHouse.gov site- UAE is an ALLY of America.

Fact Sheet: The United States–UAE Bilateral Relationship

"[T]he military-to-military relationship with the United Arab Emirates is superb. ... They've got airfields that they allow us to use, and their airspace, their logistics support. They've got a world-class air-to-air training facility that they let us use and cooperate with them in the training of our pilots. In everything that we have asked and work with them on, they have proven to be very, very solid partners."

- General Peter Pace, Chairman Of The Joint Chiefs Of Staff, 2/21/06

The United Arab Emirates (UAE) Is A Longstanding Friend And Ally Of The United States. The United States and UAE have a longstanding alliance. The UAE is a key partner of the United States in the War on Terror, helping to advance Middle East peace efforts. The UAE is also a vibrant trading partner and has provided critical support in the wake of Hurricane Katrina.

http://www.whitehouse.gov/news/releases/2006/02/20060222-10 .html

Note
Regarding my last post, I referred to UAE. That is because Dubai is one of the 7 states that make up UAE.

jagrmeister721
Yes, I am sure UAE is quite the little paradise. I'll bet the trains even run on time there. As for their vaunted healthcare, it may be Cuba-esque in its universality. And let's not forget they ARE our ally in this global war. If you don't think that sort of association is a good housekeeping seal of approval, just ask Uncle Joe Stalin. In fact, I think it would be safe to say that, due to our oncetime shotgun marriage of an alliance with the U.S.S.R., their political system would have been worthy of emulation right here in the good old U.S. of A. I know a lot of Americans thought so at the time, and probably quite a few still get misty-eyed remembering "what could have been" if only we had worked harder at embracing more of their ways.

I am with you Jagrmeister721. I think we would be fools not to fully embrace our latest allies. I am sure they have much to teach us. The good news though is that they seem especially eager to teach us as well, so I don't think we will have to beg them too hard. Let's not blow our chance here with the UAE by letting the so-called patriots offend our fine friends from the land of Mohammad.

Boute: Just Plain Wrong
You seem to be in need of some elementary education. http://www.townhall.com/columnists/FrankJGaffneyJr Try actually reading some of Gaffney's articles before you start bloviating about what he says or doesn't say. It just makes you look foolish when you don't.

I know that ignorance and smug self-assurance are practically hallmarks of the leftist creed, but don't discount the value of ACTUAL knowledge.

Topple Arab Oil Monopoly
When you come right down to this threat from the Islamic pseudo capitalists we can place the blame on the wacko environmentalists and the politicians who bend over to their every demand. If we started drilling for oil on our continent and offshore, too, we could be energy independent in 10 years. The bottom line is that energy (oil) runs the modern world and that's how it's going to be for decades ahead despite the foolish excursions into windpower and solar power. If we destroy the Arabs' monopoly on oil supplies we cut shariah off at its knees and reduce Islamic fanatics to shedding tears in the deserts where they belong.

Jerseyvet
Here here.

Sandman Att. Bootay
Bootay ain't no commiequeer (I won't use the lie "leftist") though you might get me to believe the second part. Bootay is a Phlat Buchanan Flat Earth Isolationist. A worshiper at tht Temples of Tariff and "It's all a Zionist Conspiracy" too perhaps?

This could also place him in the Psuedolibertine ian fringe of the Flat Pat movement, but hard to tell. He doesn't like "neocons", Jews, "warhawks" or Chinese investment (the Clintonista commiequeers never met a commie they DIDN'T like). I suspect he doesn't like "free trade".
So, in the main, a Flat Pat--er, but his hatred of the Jews is so strong it drives an un-natural affinity for Sandnazism unusual in a Flat Pat-er.

A real practitioner of Cognitive Dissonance, our Bootay.

And if he thinks Shitrear ain't coming to a Theater near you he needs to remember the set aside "women only" hours they demanded at various Health Clubs.

Poor Bootay. They're with him on chopping the Jews, but he's got to worry about em choppin yqueers, pornos, and druggies.

tough call

apehollow squeeks
Some good analysis and I like the Churchill to Neverous Neville here. I would point out that some historians say Chamberline HAD to cave because the Brits AND AMERICANS didn't have the balls for WAR yet. One could argue that if Wussie America and its 49% commiequeers had had any REAL American Courage, ANGER and LUST for REVENGE after 911 we COULD have kept rolling to Teheran AND Damascus and maybe burned the Shitrear Wahhabists out of Saudi Arabia too.

But we prefered to Shed tears, committ Welfare fraud, and argue about a memorial while demanding equal opportunity diversity airbrushing of Flag Raising Firemen.

Even a Churchill can't make fighting men out of a nation of commiequeers.

What you miss, though, apehollow, is that the Democracy Flip, HAD to be tried. I personally would have loved seeing every single Islamic Shrine in the World glowing in the dark so that their grandkids grandkids would have to go to prayer meeting in lead suits. But since my commiequeer fellow cits have no balls for a Hitler/Tojo endgame type absolute DESTRUCTION of the underlying culture how DOES one deal with the Swamp of Islanazism that grows the Suicide Bomber on the "Arab Street?"

see part 2 below

apehollow part 2
If, to paraphrase Mao, "the Islamanazi terrorist swims in a sea of Arab peasants" then how do you drain that swamp? You undermine the power structure of the Mullahs and Sheiks. You give "the little guy" and GALS a stake in the New Body Politic. You make making money and raising a family more attractive a future than killing Jews and Americans.
Maybe it is a long shot, given the Dark Age Culture, and given we are not willing to DESTROY that Culture like we did Racist Germany and Japan. But think of the LEVERAGE if we get an even PARTIAL success.

At least now we got jump off points on the borders of IRAN and SYRIA.

Plus where do you think the Geo-political, Religious, Economic and RELIGIOUS "Centers of Gravity" ARE over there? Pretty much within easy striking distance of WHERE WE ARE SITTING.

You left all of that out of your "historical" analysis.

the big mick

one more thing and a correction
Correction---the first "religious" above should have been "cultural".

Here's the last thought. What if this isn't (just) 1938, but 1859? What if the great MORAL IMPERATIVE of our time is to Free the Slaves of Shariah--the WOMEN?

Histories judgement on turning back from THAT might be even harsher.

If, of course, the Shitrear Islanazis haven't WON--in that case THEY will right the histories and we will be dead or enslaved.

the big mick

Pity those who feel threatened..
There's no need to overreact to Muslim investment in the western world. They're putting money back where it came from. The small percentages compared to the whole which those investments represent do not pose a threat except perhaps to American prestige. Judging from the behaviour of the dollar these days there are more pressing threats to America's prestige.

Remember that the combined annual GDP of all the Middle East oil producers does not even amount to half of Belgium's annual GDP. Furthermore, those OPEC countries are also investing heavily within their own domain.

Anyone who thinks that capitalism is a pure science forgets what the Supreme Court did to John Davison Rockefeller, Sr. If anything, the Arabs shot themselves in the foot on 9/11. Today the government can do anything it wants to anybody when it feels that America is threatened.

America should welcome any and all investment from abroad. It only works positively. Restricting foreign investment actually devalues the dollar.

Mr. Nobody
What, are you predicting "peace in our time"?

You really should consider including the concept of “eternal vigilance” in your guiding philosophy of foreign policy.

There are some who deny the possibility of real threats, some who would rather wring their hands with worry and attempt an appeasement strategy, and some who hold dangerously naïve views about the default nature of humanity. Count me among those who prefer to prepare against all potential threats, and when confronted with uncertainty of intentions and actions on the part of people whose best interests definitely do not include us, to err strongly on the side of our own interests.

You can call that whatever you want, but I would describe it as a realistic strategy designed to produce the best outcomes for this nation the most often.

Environmentalists
This is a problem that can easily be laid at the ignorant feet of environmentalists. If we were allowed to exploit our own resources in this country we wouldn't be pushing hundreds of BILLIONS of Dollars into the hands of these backward, terrorist sponsoring regimes. It isn't Conservatives causing us to import so much oil. It is Liberals. Want to stop spending US defense dollars protecting oil producing regimes? Want to stop "war for oil"? Then STOP blockading access to our own assets!!!
It makes me sick to my stomach to see US petrodollars recycled back into the US to purchase plum US assets. We should keep these dollars at home.
If you're concerned about the environment or really want to push for alternative fuels then at the same time you allow us to drill domestically you will support a large gas tax to fund research. We should ALL be paying for this research.

Liberals are to blame for this problem.

Jerseyvet
How right you are! No problem with what you wrote, but you overlooked another resource. The continental US contains three times the known oil of Saudi Arabia. It is found in the mountain states and is locked in shale and therefore expensive to exploit. With $100.00 oil, maybe it is not so expensive now. If we need subsidies to recover this oil, so be it. I'd rather pay taxes to get oil than to get ethanol and the attendant increases in food costs and other problems with that scam.

Imagine the US as an oil exporter undercutting OPEC and recovering some dollars from China as the Arabs go begging. Sounds good to me.

Sandman
Sandman,

Your logic is impeccable. Just because Stalin was an ally during WW2, that we should doubt the importance of ALL our allies today? I'm afraid you've been sold on the notion that ALL muslims and all Arabs are to be feared and treated as enemies (even when proven otherwise). Well, you inherit the legacy of the anti-segregationists who hid behind 'states rights' to cover for their racism. Your concern for our security is really just a sham cover for your irrational and arbitrary hatred towards Muslims. You are what's wrong with America today.

Almost fell over
When I read Sarbanes-Oxley. Hasn't the financial community ranted against this law before? Now we got a proponent?
This could get interesting.

Oil in the US is available
off the coast of NJ. It was drilled for in the 50s but has since been abandoned, and my essteemed senators swear they'll commit suicide before drilling can occur in the Atlantic off NJ again. Would that they would croak.

There's oil all around FL, a state which has also voted virtually no exploration or oil production anywhere.

The entire West Coast from CA into Alaska is repleat with oil and has the greatest prohibitions against oil production. Maybe when gas is $5 a gallon out there, some will change their minds.

Clinton in 1996 vetoed legislation for drilling in Alaska's famed North Slope, saying it would take a decade for any production to occur. WELL, it is now 11 years later, and that 2 million barrels would suit us well.

The shale oil in WY, MN, the Dakotas and Canada supposedly surpasses any oil source in the world, but instead of tapping it, we're putting billions into ethanol that takes a gallon of oil to make a gallon of ethanol, and the entire Mississippi River to run one ethanol refinerey. Trust the gov't to make the best decisions.

Ignorance of Islam aids the global jihad
"Shariah . . . is largely man-made, the product of dictates and rulings by caliphs and scholars over many centuries.

“brutalization of women, homosexuals and Jews. Beheadings, amputations, flagellation and stoning are . . . punishments plucked from primitive tribal practices in the Arabian deserts dating back to medieval times."

Frank Gaffney, Jr. is ignorant of Islam.

To suggest that Shari’a is anything other than laws based on the word of Allah and the example of Mohammed is treacherously nescient.

And as for “punishments,” those listed are straight from Allah and his false prophet.

It is dangerously misleading to imply that they’re tribal barbarisms only (of course, Mohammed “sanctified” all of Man’s most evil impulses).

"Hair-Raising" Islamic Ideology Within Our Borders

Forget fighting terror abroad, new research indicates there may be bigger problems in our own backyard!

Not Many U.S. Muslims Blame al Qaeda (AP)

According to a study released May 22, 2007 by Pew Research Center:

- 7% of U.S. Muslims under 30 indicated favorable view to al Qaeda;

- 26% of U.S. Muslims under 30 answered "Yes" to the pollsters question: "Can Suicide Bombing of Civilian Targets to Defend Islam be Justified?"

- 60% of the Muslim Americans "do not believe Arab men carried out the attacks of Sept. 11, 2001."

Think! One in four younger U.S. Muslims say suicide bombings of Civilian Targets to defend their religion are acceptable at least in some circumstances, a poll says.
