Will the Dems' health care Christmas Present to America be an improvement or detriment to our health care system?

If you’re a conservative then more than likely you’re sweating over the direction our nation is headed. I’m talking about a level of concern similar to what a father feels at 2 am after it dawns on him that he actually okayed his cute 16 year-old daughter to go to a Tommy Lee keg party earlier in the evening.

You’re freakin’, aren’t you conservative?

And you should be because it appears that conservative values are vanishing from our culture faster than an uncooked cow brain burrito slathered in habanero sauce would blow through Larry the Cable Guy’s backside.

This is not the America you grew up in, nor is it the one you want your kids to inherit.

What am I referring to? Well, it’s stuff like . . .

• Christians throwing banquets in honor of Ahmadinejad this week. This is progress? No, it is wussy Christianity at its ugliest. What’s next, a tickle fight with Satan? WTH Quakers and Mennonites?

• Our nation ogling a presidential candidate who, growing up, suckled on commie milk, is chummy with terrorists and race baiters, has been endorsed by Hamas and who intends to tax us all financially more than watching Rosie O’Donnell river dance in a thong would mentally.

• The looming threat of Islamo-facsists with the general opinion being that we asked for their animosity and should therefore come hat in hand to these killers who are nuttier than a squirrel’s turd.

• We have to suffer at the gas pump because greenies love humping trees and ferns.

• Our right to keep and bear arms is constantly under assault

• The big brothering of the private sector

• True Christianity being trashed.

• The slutification, wussification and secularization of our kids before they hit 2nd grade

• The majority of our college campuses are now left of Beelzebub

• 13 year-old girls being given birth control, or assisted in an abortion, without parents knowing diddly squat

• Second graders being told that Clay Aiken and Lance Bass are a viable alternative to mom and dad

• Press one for English

• The spirit of irresponsibility and entitlement that has saddled our nation from Wall Street to Main Street

As a concerned conservative who doesn’t have it in me to curl up on the floor in the fetal position and get stepped on, I decided to start directing my pen and my radio show post 9/11 toward the things which I know are derailing our nation into an uber-liberal ditch.

Since that decision not to be a beholden and silent cow to ripe and foul secular folly, I’ve had the fun and good fortune to carry out my mission on TV, radio and right here on Townhall.com. God bless righteous outrage.

However, not everyone can or wants to write columns or do talk radio, but that doesn’t mean you can’t kick maximum backside for God and country.

One major way of waling on the liberal wonks is via giving a slice of your hard-earned dollar to stellar conservative organizations. I know reading a column about giving during this economic crunch is about as appealing as a turkey watching Rachel Ray’s Thanksgiving Special. That said, the conservative movement still needs the drachmas to dramatically diminish liberalism everywhere it raises its screeching secular head.

Traditionalist can cripple cultural coarsening critters with their cash. Our nation is embroiled in a culture war of enormous consequences, and giving during this clash is . . . uh . . . kinda important.

Matter of fact, in the new book, Funding Fathers: The Unsung Heroes of the Conservative Movement Ron Robinson and Nicole Hoplin of Young Americas Foundation fame tell the untold stories of the men, women and families who gave financial gifts small and large to make the conservative movement a force to be reckoned with. Yep, behind every Ronald Reagan there are folks who put their money where their mouth is and give the “Ronalds” the wherewithal to rock-n-roll.

Check this out from Regnery’s press release regarding Funding Fathers:

“Without the contributions made by the men profiled in this book, conservatives would not have The Heritage Foundation or Young America’s Foundation to help propagate conservative ideas, they would not have Townhall.com, Human Events or National Review to communicate the conservative point-of-view, and Ronald Reagan may never have become president.

“It is important to us to honor the contributions of these men. They made the Conservative Movement a force to be reckoned with,” says Robinson. “Hopefully this book will inspire others to get involved in causes they believe in, to support them financially, and to contribute their time and energy to organizations dedicated to improving America’s future.”

In Funding Fathers, readers will learn:

• Conservative families give more money to charity than liberal families . . . even though liberals earn more

• How the mainstream media discourages conservative philanthropy, either by ignoring substantial gifts, or demonizing conservative donors

• How an exiled Russian prince became an American inventor and entrepreneur and helped save the Reagan Ranch for generations of young conservatives

“There are so many interesting people profiled in this book,” says co-author Nicole Hoplin. “They were passionate, committed to their ideals, fiercely intellectual, and wonderfully generous. I’m proud that their contributions will finally be recognized.”

Culture wars—like real wars with guns—take cash. Lots of cash. One reason why conservatives are schvitzing right now is the way Obama has been bank rolled by Soros and the like. If Barack didn’t have that kind of mad money behind him right now, he probably wouldn’t be contending for the Presidency but rather Seacrest’s job on Idol. But money, contrary to what The Beatle’s sang, bought him love.

The Funding Fathers will show you, the conservative warrior, in dramatic fashion how the movement came into being and how you and I can skillfully make it thrive via our strategic financial giving both now and for the next generation.

Yes, I am sweating
Yes, I am freakin'.

Yes, this is NOT the America I grew up in nor do I want my kids to grow up in it.

Yes, I am a conservative.

Yes! For the FIRST TIME in MY adult life

I am very fearful of what's happening to my country, and what will happen if Marxist Obama is "elected."

You bet! Sweating bullets, and blood is
shoot right out of my eyes (and I don't even bother to give Glenn Beck credit for that little statement any longer!)

Anne
Republicans are Marxist, too

As we all true Conservatives know, George Bush, and now with the help of Hank Paulson, Republicans have tacked on as much debt from 2001-2008, than as in the previous 210 years of our peaceful and freedom-loving America.

George Bush, Denny Hastert, Bill Frist, Tom Delay and John Boehner massively increased the size of government during this time. They doubled the size of the Department of Education. They increased pork-barrel spending from 3,000 to 14,000 projects a year. They, believe it or not, added a $50 billion a year, additional entitlement program onto the backs of Americans. We are currently spending $120 billion a year on carrying out a social-engineering project in the Middle East.

All of these big government projects have been financed with a ton of debt. This debt is symbolic of wealth redistribution from the Republicans who ruled DC during this time onto the backs of America's children and the unborn. They never had a chance to vote, but are now saddled with a debt approaching $33,000 per person. It's all been a big disgrace to we Conservatives.

farshooter
Yet another example of Republican socialist wealth-redistribution.

Too many phony conservatives now want the government to give American taxpayer's money to nuclear power companies and decide that they are going to be 'winners' in the energy supply marketplace.

American taxpayer's wealth was redistributed in the 1950's. The promise was that electrical power would be so cheap, that a watt-meter wouldn't even be needed on a house. Pay a flat fee of $2 a month and take as much 'juice' off the grid as you want. That's what was promised.

The only problem was that the nuke power industry got fat, lazy, and stupid sucking off the teat of the government sow.

Now, Republicans are planning the same 'great' idea. Once these companies get their taxpayer money, then a multi-million dollar bonus will be given to just too many power company executives. All they have done is garnish some taxpayer's monies and have produced nothing in the dreaded free market.
Slovenliness and stupidity will surely follow.

It's time to get the US government out of the picture when it comes to deciding who will be the winners and losers in the 'free' market.

When Republicans want to emulate Socialist/Marxist France, then you know they have shown their true stripes.

Mr. Giles
What you should be terrified about is the oncoming train that is the nationalization of the financial industry, which provides the lifeblood of our economy. What you must understand is that cultural decline is breeded by collectivism, and is destroyed by capitalism. Under capitalism, it is produce or die; there is no time and no government support system to enable and indulge your spiritual atrophy. And the largest assault on capitalism has been launched and is being carried out as we speak. Why would your daughters bother to self-disciplined, self-respecting, responsible people

Doogie
I hope you will agree with me that Republicans have their socialist wealth-redistribution programs also.

Moon colonies and such; too many phony Conservatives say that the best way to spend America's valuable hi-tech, R&D money is on a big-government, bureaucratic, centrally planned program. This is Marxism!

In the 19th and 20th century was defined as 'the government should own the means of production'.

Now, in the 21st century, American manfacturing has been replaced with a service, innovation and hi-tech economy. Be very careful, the neo-Marxist's slogan is that 'government should own the means of hi-tech R&D.'

Let's face it, all the low-hanging fruit has been picked when it comes to human space travel. To spend a trillion dollars on re-living the dream of planting another flag on the moon is a big waste of taxpayers money.

A moon colony, moon mining, are we nuts?

Sorry, got cut off
...when the government punishes them for doing so, and rewards them for vice?

Doogie II
Republicans ramped up farm subsidies from 2001-2007 to the tune of $34 billion a year.

We have ethanol mandates, sugar, cotton, soybean, wheat and many more agricultural handouts for the Midwest. These teat-suckers need to get their mouths off the nipples of the government sow. This is a Republican wealth-redistribution program from America's east and west coasts to America's heartland, with America's heartlands values.

Why would one believe that sugar should be subsidized, unless, of course, you are a dentist?

Why should cotton be subsidized, since most of it is exported, the number one importer of cotton is China? Who believes that Chinese manufacturing should be subsidized by the American taxpayer?

It takes a gallon of oil to make a gallon of ethanol. No more mandates! If an American farmer can't compete in the global marketplace, then they can always get a job at Walmart, as a 'greeter.'

Doogie III
Republicans have yet wealth redistribution project.

The most odious is the wealth redistribution of American wealth to foreigners. Our liberal-socialist social engineering project in the middle east of bringing democracy there is financed soley through US debt securities sold to China, Japan, UAE, Saudi Arabia and Russia to name a few. Our economy and fiscal sanity is being hollowed out. Remember, we had a tax cut shortly after the war started 5 and half years ago.

China now owns $1.4 trillion in US Treasury securities.

zapdoodat: What you FAIL to realize is

that we're in the mess we're in NOW because as far back as CARTER, and then the CLINTON admin. there was a demoRATIC effort to do some "social engineering"....

And, if you actually believe that this "collapse" just happened now, you're dumber than we all thought.

And spare me the ... "oh, you go back a generation ago" argument. Yes, this kind of thing does take a generation.

We are NOW paying the price for that.

Doogie IV
"The slutification, wussification and secularization of our kids before they hit 2nd grade."

Did you ever, ever, ever, think of just canceling your cable TV subscription?

Or even just throwing your TV out the window?

zapdoodat: YOU REALLY ARE as dumb as you
appear.. YOU really do think all this just happened to come about in the past 7years.

And you actually wonder why we refer to liberals as being "intellectually limited."

Anne
"that we're in the mess we're in NOW because as far back as CARTER."

Your victimization is quite trite.

When George Bush was President, Denny Hastert was Speaker of the House, Bill Frist was in charge of the Senate (all Republicans if you didn't know). Then how come they did not do ANYTHING???

It all started with Barack....

The higher in the polls this cat goes...

The faster the value of the U.S. dollar drops.

It's pretty insane...

The minute the Democrats took Congress over, bad things started to happen... And after Barack beheaded Queen Hillary all hell broke loose!!!

Barack is the worst news to hit Wall Street since 1929!

Anne
I guess the fact the Speaker of the House was a Republican from January of 1995 through January of last year is just some statistic to you?

Did you know that Congress has the power to tax and spend as stipulated in the US Constitution.

Are you in favor of a U.S. moon colony?

Oh geeze, here we go AGIAN... as if we

haven't been through this a thousand times already...

John McCain Supported A Proposal For An Agency To Oversee Fannie And Freddie……In 2005!

http://beltwaysnark.com/2008/09/16/john-mccain-supported-a- proposal-for-an-agency-to-oversee-fannie-and-freddiein-2005 /

"In Sept. 2003 President Bush proposed a new agency to oversee regulatory reforms of Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac. Here is an excerpt form the above linked article from Sept. 11, 2003.

"The Bush administration today recommended the most significant regulatory overhaul in the housing finance industry since the savings and loan crisis a decade ago.

"Under the plan, disclosed at a Congressional hearing today, a new agency would be created within the Treasury Department to assume supervision of Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac, the government-sponsored companies that are the two largest players in the mortgage lending industry.

"The new agency would have the authority, which now rests with Congress, to set one of the two capital-reserve requirements for the companies. It would exercise authority over any new lines of business. And it would determine whether the two are adequately managing the risks of their ballooning portfolios.

Cont.

Oh geeze, here we go AGAIN, Part II

A Proposal For An Agency To Oversee Fannie And Freddie……In 2005!

“The plan is an acknowledgment by the administration that oversight of Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac — which together have issued more than $1.5 trillion in outstanding debt — is broken. A report by outside investigators in July concluded that Freddie Mac manipulated its accounting to mislead investors, and critics have said Fannie Mae does not adequately hedge against rising interest rates.

“Then in 2005 John McCain co-sponsored the Federal Housing Enterprise Regulatory Reform Act of 2005.

“The Bill was never passed. John McCain addressed the floor on May 26th, 2006. Here is an excerpt:

“’I join as a cosponsor of the Federal Housing Enterprise Regulatory Reform Act of 2005, S. 190, to underscore my support for quick passage of GSE regulatory reform legislation. If Congress does not act, American taxpayers will continue to be exposed to the enormous risk that Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac pose to the housing market, the overall financial system, and the economy as a whole.’

“’I urge my colleagues to support swift action on this GSE reform legislation.’

“This bill was shot down by the Democrats and some Republicans in Congress.

8 0John McCain fought two years ago to shield the American people from the crisis some of us are facing.”

What was Barack’s vote??

NOW, for you 6th grade civics drop outs...The GOP needed 60 votes to end debate (prevent a filibuster). The GOP in 2005 had 55 votes. If the Senate couldn't get a floor vote, the bill is dead.

If nothing else, you should at least be embarrassed....

Carlos
"The minute the Democrats took Congress over, bad things started to happen.."

quite astute, and when George Bush took over, 911 happened shortly after......and 3000 Americans died.

The price of a barrel of oil on 1/22/01 was $22. Now it over $100. Do you think we are punishing Iran, Venezuela or Russia at this pricepoint?

Anne
"John McCain Supported A Proposal For An Agency To Oversee Fannie And Freddie……In 2005!"

Sure, McCain wanted to tweak the rules for Fannie and Freddie, yawn. 90% of the 700 billion is going to bail out Wall Street banks and their wanton use of 100 times leverage.

poor analysis
"We have to suffer at the gas pump because greenies love humping trees and ferns. "

We suffer because too many Americans think they need to be surrounded by 10 tons of steel on their daily commute. If it wasn't for this, we would not need to import any oil.

Carlos: zapdo0pe is a LOST CAUSE...

Either too stupid, or an acute case of BDS, or his brain is fried on something illegal... OR... all of the above.

No one in their right mind would ever post... "George Bush took over, 911 happened shortly after......and 3000 Americans died" like it was Pres. Bush's fault...

Did you see this???
Newly Discovered Documents Show that Barney Frank Has Significant Blame For 9/11

http://www.massnews.com/2006_editions/6_june/61306_barney_f rank_911.htm

"A recent 'Freedom of Information' request has revealed that nearly 10,000 documents still exist that the 9/11 Commission were told were destroyed, and this may not fare very w ell for Barney Frank.

"According to Scott Malone of NavySeals.com and Christopher Law from the Public Education Center, these documents show that the CIA knew that several of the hijackers on 9/11 who were in the country were associated with Al-Qaeda. But authorities were powerless to deport them because of an amendment to an immigration law that Frank had authored.

"According to statements by five army officers, the CIA program called “Able Danger” had identified the September 11, 2001 attack leader and three of the other hijackers as possible members of an al-Qaeda cell.

" Under U.S. law now, as it was before the “Frank” 1990 amendment, we could simply pick up those foreigners whose radical beliefs might denote a threat to the country and deport them. The Frank amendment, however, put the burden of proof on the government to show that the individuals in question had previously engaged in terrorist activity. No longer could an individual be excluded from getting a visa or staying in this country no matter how extreme their beliefs." (Cont.)

It just gets better and better... Well worth the read.

Anne
yet when Carlos blames Hussein Obama for the dollar falling, you have no comment.

Aaah, obviously zapdope is one of those

greenies who love humping trees and ferns, and no doubt it a life long member of PETA.

Okay, the cat is out of that bag. HA HA HA Enough of dealing with him....

Oh btw zapdope, I love my new mink... it's full length, and it's going to keep me really warm thiss winter... global cooling, don't ya know! :-)

Wendy; good point.
Our financial system has been under the control of the Executive and Legislative branches of gov't for some time now. They essentially forced banks, et al to grant sub-prime, below-cost home loans to completely unqualified people, all in the name of "equality" -- this is the antithesis of capitalism. They did it willingly and with a vengeance once they got into it...greed, you know. That and "Denial of Service" to other banks. It is still going on even today; I get fixed sub-prime credit card offers in the mail daily. 'Course I pay my bills...

Collectivism also destroys individual incentive, ambition, the work ethic, self-respect, confidence and most other characteristics admired in our society. The only people it serves are those in gov't work itself -- the epitome of job-arrogance and its reward. It is an invasive, malignant cancer in our society -- and we are under attack.

Its leader, chief spokesman and front-line advocate today is BObama.

Pacifists
Quakers and Mennonites couldn't exist without Baptists and Methodists keeping the Islamofacists from stompng them into the ground. I'm-a dinner-jacket was sitting at that table probably thinking, "These people will be the first to go."

I remember being in Vietnam and reading about the American Friends Service Committee (Quakers) shipping supplies to North Vietnam.

Anne
Sleep warm my pretty, because Iran is now building a bomb, from all their petro-dollars, in which the price of oil the past 40 years has been largely supported by America's demand for foreign oil.

People, like yourself, should be given the 'Order of Allah.'

Gil
Those packages were reported addressed c/o Hanoi Jane [whom we will never forgive or forget].

Over a half a century ago...
I was born into a free country. With the direction we are going, I may be killed by a Soviet one.

Zapdope: You probably don't realize that

you've not posted one single intelligent, informed, coherent comment, do you?

Iran building a bomb from US petro dollars? Hmmmm? Nope! Wrong! Actually, Iran is building their bomb with the help of RUSSIA.

But, in case you're worried about all the US petro dollars going overseas, you might want to think about the GREENIE LIBERALS who stopped ALL domestic drilling.... um... just about 40yrs. ago.

Sorry, you're just STUPID, ILL INFORMED, and WRONG, but you are entertaining... lol

I think I'm just going to sit back and read your ignorant, yet silly posts, and laugh for a while. It's been a bit of a stressful day, and I could use the laughs. :-)

Anne
Should the PETAnazis damage your new mink coat, be sure to remind them that it is fully insured and THEIR insurance premiums will buy you a new one sewn together from freshly killed minks, thanks to them.

[My other half tells me those coats are indeed DELICIOUSLY warm and much better than the fake stuff.]

farshooter: Yes, I'm aware that PETAnazi

tend to not care about other people's property.

Nice folks, don't you think? :-) I'll remember the insurance point. Thanks. :-)

But, they're all kind of NUTS like zapdope! lol

Oh and btw, farshooter, I LOVE buffalo steaks. I'm thinking about having a some moose steaks shipped in to see if they're as good as buffalo. NOTHING in the world like a good STEAK!

Stay tuned, or check back tomorrow, this PROMISES to be a great read. Giles is always great, but this is going to be exceptional .... :-)

Carlos
"Barack is the game changer. He's scaring people!"

Time to man-up. Electricity and cars scared people 100 years ago. Get over it, let's face the future with eyes wide open.

Anne
"Iran building a bomb from US petro dollars? Hmmmm?"

Not directly, but I hope you know that all of Iran's cash comes from its export of oil. Do you think Russia is helping Iran for free?

The USA's rapacious consumption of foreign oil off of the world's oil supply market ensures that the Iranian government will be very happy.

=====
"Conservatism proper is a legitimate, probably necessary, and certainly widespread attitude of opposition to drastic change. It has, since the French Revolution, for a century and a half played an important role in European politics. Until the rise of socialism its opposite was liberalism. There is nothing corresponding to this conflict in the history of the United States, because what in Europe was called 'liberalism' was here the common tradition on which the American polity had been built: thus the defender of the American tradition was a liberal in the European sense. This already existing confusion was made worse by the recent attempt to transplant to America the European type of conservatism, which, being alien to the American tradition, has acquired a somewhat odd character. And some time before this, American radicals and socialists began calling themselves 'liberals'."

There are a lot of us here that can relate to that.
When I first became active in pro life, we were
people of Christian and jewish faiths working together and we often used gallows humor that it didn't matter what our religious background was because we would all be behind the same barbed wires. That's not so far fetched anymore.

What kind of idiot criticizes Republicans for

Probably the same type of idiot who spews
9/11 conspiracy theories, right?

Giles, You're Right (no pun intended)

Before this year, I had not donated to any political organization because I don't get a tax deduction for political contributions.

But BO has been so weird that I knew I had to start doing that. So, several times so far, I have sent some money to a couple of organizations for ads, etc.

What is it they say? "Much is lost by those who had little to give, so they gave nothing."
or
"Now is the time for every good man to come to the aid of his country (party?)."
or
"All is lost when good people do nothing."

As I say, not sure of the wording, but you get the picture. Give!

McCain and Palin in 2008!

sick
One of the worse things I have ever read. I never thought I would wish for Ann Coulson

The current financial mess...
...is the result of first Dems (like Barney Franks) in the 90s who pushed for minorities to be able to get home loans -- even tho many couldn't afford their financial obligations, and later by *both* parties for failing to warn us when the signs began to appear.

As for traditionalists/conservatives/Christians winning the American culture war, this is ultimately a SPIRITUAL battle. We who are Christian know where the deviant ideas originate and how they are propagated. It started in the Garden of Eden and has worked painfully well since. Satan appeals to our vanity so we shed off God. Then when we're in a mess it's either then that we wake up or in our stubborness die holding tightly to our rebellion against God.

The bottom line folks is this: first we must pray for the repentance of every American. All of us in this country must acknowledge Christ and trust Him enough to give Him control of our lives. He knows us a tad better than we know ourselves. Just a tad ;-) Secondly, while we're praying for the heart of the American citizen to turn to the Lord so that their ETERNAL future is secure, we must fire our spiritual darts at the entities Satan is using, like the various media (news, music & movies), our public schools and our activist courts. A woman in my church and I have begun praying like this and we've noticed some changes taking place. But we obviously have only just begun. And thirdly, we must get off of our complacent butts, get our hands dirty and fight: fight by pressuring our politicians (letters and phone calls), fight by participating in demonstrations, fight by boycott, fight by financially supporting groups like the ACLJ, ADF, PJI, etc. And we must do all of this in a SMART way... (con't)

Cont'd...
Too often I've seen my fellow Christians spring out of the gate streaking with emotion but perhaps not having all the facts before they engage. And then when ALL the facts are revealed, we look stupid. And looking stupid only makes the unbelieving among us think twice about embracing our message.

I am not praying for theocracy. I don't want Uncle Sam telling me how to worship my God. And God (IMO) doesn't want forced converts. But I do want and hope that the American citizen will make the CHOICE to serve Jesus and to embrace so-called traditional values while also keeping the positive changes that have occurred over time, such as the racial civil rights movements.

What traditional values am I talking about? The value of human life; Sanity (as opposed to the madness that is political correctness); Our schools not being afraid to discuss God while neither promoting a specific one nor mocking those who have chosen a specific one; Accepting the HETEROSEXUAL family as THE family standard, as both the Bible AND secular evolution could testify to; Work over welfare; Entitlement mentality GONE; Nationalism over internationalism (especially since many nations out there have nothing but an unreasoning hatred for us or are so corrupt that merging with them would destroy us); Our academic institutions getting out of the far-left loony land communist indoctrination game and getting back to TEACHING our kids how to critically think, in addition to FACTS; the gov't staying OUT of the church's business, as New Mexico and California suddenly feel it's their place to tell Christians and others when they can and cannot live out their beliefs; And I could go on and on.

zapdoodat
I realize that in that fog you call a brain that Bush I, Bush II, and Co. are the only ones responsible for our current mess.

So, besides that answer these questions:

1) Who dreamed up and petitioned Congress to enact Social Security in 1935? And what was the makeup of Congress at that time?

2) Who dreamed up and petitioned Congress to enact Fannie Mae in 1938? And what was the makeup of Congress at that time?

3) Who took Fannie Mae off the government book because it had grown so huge and spun off Freddie Mac at the same time? And what was the makeup of Congress at the time?

4) Who in 2003 attempted to warn the public of this type of outcome due to Fannie Mae. And what party in Congress blocked every attempt to make changes?

5) Who in 2005 made similar attempts to warn of a coming melt down? And what political party again blocked any attempts to make corrections?

Mr. Giles
When are you going to realize that your pseudo-hip false street creds are ineffective at checking the real indulgences of the flesh.

I can only imagine what one of your church services must be like. Lots of guitars, I suppose.

People are not saved by being conservative or by being patriotic, you know.

Get some fresh imagery, Doug
Doug, I like your attitude with the whole "culture clash" ministry, really. I agree that the culture of today's post-modernism needs to be taken on with promoting more morality and values.

But that whole thrust of yours somehow looks duplicitous when you use multiple and repeated scatological and voyeuristic similes. Things like "...it appears that conservative values are vanishing from our culture faster than an uncooked cow brain burrito slathered in habanero sauce would blow through Larry the Cable Guy’s backside." give me an image that I really, really, don't enjoy, and don't expect from a guy trying to promote my values. You may think it's cool, I think it's dumb and juvenile (full disclosure, I am 27 years old.) Furthermore, it causes intelligent people such as those who frequent this forum to not take you and I seriously, either, when they consider this sort of writing to be exemplary of Christian thought.

Dead-on!
Good article, and many of my adult conservative concerns are listed.

I think we need to raise the voting age to 35. Common sense, maturity, and self reliance don't start until about that time.

Voter fraud is a huge problem, and I think that the SCOTUS approved Indiana rule of voter requirements should be nationalized for federal elections: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=s5VgzvzIJ04

I think the military absentee votes need to be cleared and processed pronto, and not shoved aside and ignored (or lost) as is often done.

I think we need to recycle all elected officials after two terms, Kennedy included. Give other qualified citizens a chance to volunteer to help the People.

I think there needs to be a job description for every federal elected position (including President), and every candidate for federal office should, by law, be vetted by the FBI including verification of truthful disclosure by the candidates. The Obama ‘mystery’ of his birth, his colleagues, his religious affiliations, his activities, etc. is nonsense. The People electing public officials need to know the truth about their nominees.

Onward Conservatives and Libertarians! Protect and restore America!

Hey Socialists, does this get your blood boiling? Deal with it.

Ha Ha!

Giles cred is diminished
by the juvenile and crude tone of his remarks. Although I agree with his points, he is no Will, Krauthammer or Sowell, whose beautiful, precise prose is a more effective means to intelligent debate.

Listening to a rebroadcast of Jerry Doyle last night where he was reading excerpts from the 9:11 Report and substituting "economy" for "terrorism." It was pretty much dead on - laying the blame squarely on the people who are guilty of failing in their oversight responsibilities: CONGRESS!!!

There is enough blame for everyone, yet there is one group of people who have pushed for egalitarianism in home loans for the last 30 years, the dhimmicrats.

Repubbicans have utterly failed in their duty to check the socialist tendencies of aforementioned dhimmicrats, also dipping their big spoons into the pot of cash stewing in DC. Besides allowing themselves to be corrupted by lobbyists and special interest $$$, all of them have ignored the fact that IT'S NOT THEIR MONEY!!!

I also blame the clueless, partisan American electorate, who continue to send these scumbags back to Washington every 2 and 6 years. How much less trouble would we be in if Barney Fwank, Countrywide Chris Dodd, UpChuck Schumer, Ted "Porky" Stevens, and Ted "the swimmer" Kennedy would have been put out to pasture years ago.

Now thanks in part to McCain/Feingold and reapportionment, we right thinking voters can't even get these pigs voted out. Here in my district we have Raul "SuperMex" Grijalva, who is so secure in his seat he might as well be unopposed. He is rolling in dough, his opponent is a wack job, he doesn't even need to advertise - only show up and blabber some liberal platitudes in Espanol in some of the poorer Hispanic neighborhoods, of which we have many here in AZ, and WALLAH! Another two years at the trough.

Friends don't let friends vote dhimmicrat. And bozo repubbicans are no friend of liberty either.

Great Point Doug
I will give of my time and whatever cash I have to any conservative organization. I encourage all of you reading to do the same and urge your friends and family to do so as well. We need to fund the culture war in any way we can. I am sick and mad as hell watching my country move ever closer to socialism. One of the bigger problems I see contributing to our move in that direction is ignorance and apathy among everyday Americans and that needs to change also. NOW GET BACK TO WORK! Millions of illegal immigrants on welfare are depending on YOU!

of course
our money is absolutely needed in this culture war. Don't forget about the many religious organizations (missionaries) who, despite every odd, are still feeding and educating and providing life to those less fortunate--and winning souls in the process. Let's not forget Obama's brother also--who is in desperate straits and in need of help. If conservatives don't help him, no one will.

As usual
Conservative "thinkers" undermine their points of view with exremist language, fallacies and mock indignance. When will you guys learn, you condemn yourself to the margins of society when you express yourselves like wackos? I can't I really object; I think you put yourselves where you rightfully belong LOL.

the concentration camp named Gaza
From Wikipedia

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Gaza_Strip

"The Gaza Strip is not recognized internationally as part of any sovereign country. It is claimed by the Palestinian National Authority as part of the Palestinian territories, though following the June 2007 battle of Gaza, actual control of the area is in the hands of the de facto government dominated by Hamas. Israel, which governed the Gaza Strip from 1967-2005, still controls the strip's airspace, territorial water and offshore maritime access, as well as its side of the Gaza-Israeli border. Egypt, which governed the Gaza Strip from 1948-1967 controls the southern border between the Gaza strip and the Sinai desert."

"...claimed by the Palestinian National Authority as part of the Palestinian territories..." ???concentration camp???

"...actual control of the area is in the hands of the de facto government dominated by Hamas..." ???concentration camp???

Shelly, who is running this 'concentration camp' called Gaza and who are the armed guards?

Perhaps,Shelly, you have issues not found in reality.

Jeffrey,
It has been my observation that Conservatives use restraint when conversing with Liberals, and it is the Liberals that drop down into exremist language, fallacies, and character assassination. Very rapidly, I might add.

Basically a maturity thing.

THE LAST BLACK PRESIDENT...
If the darling of the commies in the media is elected, he will end up being the most hated President in U.S. history, and the 2010 mid-terms will be a BLOODBATH for the Democrats. Obama will destroy the economy and his own Party. MAYBE the disaster will awaken people to the problem, and turn them away from socialism. But probably not...

So what can conservatives do? Not a lot, if the parasites out number the producers, but we can donate to conservative causes, boycott NBC, CBS, ABC, MSNBC, CNN, the New York Times, the L.A. Times, and all the other leftist rags in the country. We can stop going to see leftist Hollywood movies, and stop renting and buying their DVDs.

If Obama is elected, I would urge businesses to post price increase signs that read: "PRICE INCREASE A RESULT OF OBAMA TAXES AND POLICIES." Make sure people KNOW that when businesses get nailed, they have to pass on the costs to the consumer.

As a last resort, we can all move to Texas or Alaska and secede from the Union. Actually, I like this option the best!

Well said!

You are another idiot that has no idea what true Christianity is. True Christians do not ever want peace at any price, up to including submitting to Islam, which is exactly what Islam wants.

Read your Bible thoroughly. God tells you repeatedly that you must be prepared to defend your faith. You are substituting Christianity for fear.

"The current financial mess...is the result of first Dems (like Barney Franks) in the 90s who pushed for minorities to be able to get home loans."

Barney Frank is one of a legislative body with 435 members. The Speaker of the House was a Republican from January of 1995 through January of last year. This body refused to put any restrictions on the use of over-leverage by Wall Street which is where the $700 billion is going.

Didn't your Savior say something about "take the log out of your eye before...."

Blaming this massive financial bailout on minorities is not only inaccurate, but cruel.

Birdman
"Who dreamed up and petitioned Congress to enact Social Security in 1935?"

Excellent review of history from 70 years ago!

Let's take a closer look at more recent entitlement history. In 2003, when George Bush was President, Denny Hastert was Speaker of the House, and Bill Frist was Senate leader, they added yet another whole layer of entitlement spending. These three are all Republicans.

Medicare Prescription, Part Dd costs $50 billion a year. The method of payment is to put that entire cost onto the nation's credit card, Republican style. Cut taxes and spend even more!

This whole method of spending more than you make has gotten our great country into its current financial predicament. True conservatives, like myself, should not vote Republican.

Thanks Doug Giles
Glad you are content and happy with your career.
Like you I also thought that most of Obama's money was coming from Soros, Oprah & the like. Until yesterday I did a search on ACORN since I had never heard the term before this past week and the shock of how stupid this organization (& the sub org's)are, is mind blowing. YES, we need McCain to help clean up this mess! I used to think I was relatively well informed. Whenever one couples this with the "Black Liberation Theology" that I did not know about either. What a shock! Both of these entities! The world would be better off without them.
The very idea that unqualified people are living in $200,000.00 + homes (no down pymt)and paying nearly nothing is incredulous! Yes this Country needs McCain! Now we are to be jubilant that they have figured out a way to take care of something as stupid as this is asinine. We the taxpayer gets to pay again???
Now I am understanding why McCain has always been seemingly so upset with the party. Was unaware all were doing just that, having a party on us. Over & over again! Yes this Country needs a Warrior! I hope he cleans house at the White House!

education
Nevertheless, the left has taken over our educational system from top to bottom, with active help from state education departments in all 50 states. I know there are so-called conservatives in state legislatures and even some governor's offices, but they have not dealt with this problem at all. Why not?

No Child Left Behind has been a bad influence, too, but House and Senate has gone along with it every time it has been renewed.

OBAMA TRIES TO STOP RADIO/TV ADS
.....According to NewsMax ...the Obama campaign is furious at 4 NRA Ads running in PA that point out Obama/Biden anti-gun positions ...

.....Obama and the DNC have written to the Stations threatening lawsuits if the Ads are not pulled ...additionally they are urging their supporters to bombard the stations with emails and phone calls ...

.....This is just a sample of what to expect in an Obama Administration ...check out http://www.gunbanobama.com .....COLOSSUS

Re: Bank on it!!!
Yepster, you can bank on this baby, that if Obamarxist gets to be president then you can be sure of Tax hikes, Gun legislation, Socialized medicine, and the Fairness Doctrine in Law within the first year!! Those over 200k you better arm up because we are for sure looking at class warfare!! Bank on it!

The questions are still there waiting for your answers.

True, the problem started over 70 yeara ago. But who gave us that problem to begin with? You really need to answer that one.

Next, you may want to review who called attention to those problems most recently and which political party blocked any and all changes and corrections to those exposed problems.

It is really not that hard unless you purposely ignore history. Why would you ignore history?

Anne from NC's Random Thoughts
First, prices are subject to two things -- supply AND demand. Reduce supply OR increase demand and the price of anything goes up.

OPEC and Co have a nasty habit of reducing supply to bolster the price of oil when it goes down. The massive economic boom in China and India have dramatically increased the demand for oil so the price naturally goes up. Has very little to do with who drives what kind of car/truck.

Now the way our [Democrat] Congress addresses the problem of high oil prices is to...ta da!...PREVENT DRILLING TO REDUCE THE SUPPLY! Way to go guys [and gals]! THAT will REALLY drop the price!

BTW, the next time your everyone-drive-a-Civic [loaded with kiddies] intersects the path of an [equally loaded] Expedition because someone was on a cellphone or something, I wish you and the kiddies the best of luck. Really.

NOW you know why people drive big, solid, heavy, stable, contents-protecting cars/SUVs/PUs and d**n the cost/usage of gasoline.

[To all -- forgive the histrionics and the shouting...it was to make a point to the dimmer bulbs.]

RIGHT DOUG!
I've lived in this great county for 68 years and have also seen the changes that Doug is talking about and I don't like where our country is going. I need to ask why don't more of the Republicans have enough huevos to stand up to the liberal minded destructive Democrats and take back this country to the values that are important to all of us?

I think McCain is trying, but there were a few stronger points he could have made in the debate by pointing out that the Democrats want to hang this current financial mess on the Republicans for the past 8 years, whereas it was a results of liberal groups who demanded that everyone in this country should have a home mortgage, qualified or not, illegal aliens and citizens, with the fair housing act.

zapdoodat...
You may be a conservative that disapproves of Bush and McCain. Or you may be a Socialist Democrat who hopes to convince people here to vote Obama/Biden.

Here's the way I see it. The Democrats started the ball rolling with Social Security, Fannie Mae, and Freddie Mac. Each of these programs have grown into mammoth entities; and they are just getting worse. Voting for Obama/Biden would just guarantee that uncontrolled mammoth growth.

I have a choice to make on Nov. 4. I am not fond of McCain, I will not vote for a 3rd party candidate, And I absolutely will not vote for Socialist Obama.

I have to look deeper into the parties. Obama has Biden... (he is at best as bad as Obama); and the Obama/Biden ticket has Pelosi, Reid, Barney (not the dinosaur), etc. 3rd party has nobody anywhere in government on which to build anything; a vote for 3rd party amounts to a vote for Obama.

That leaves McCain. At least he has Palin. I have my hopes on fresh blood in Washington. Palin has done some good things in Alasks. The Liberals hate her. I would like to have Thompson, Tancredo, or even Huckabee... But I have Palin.

Your ranting on Bush II while ignoring my 5 questions will not sway me to your side. I wish I could change America back to the '50's. But I can't. It took 50 years to get from there to here and it will take that long to get back. All I have is new blood in Palin to represent my cause in DC. I will take what I can get and hope for the best.

Good Night, Zap.

Lolo1 in CA
After reading your comments for a few weeks, I had to ask my sister, in CA, if you were her. When my mom brought her home from the hospital, I couldn't say her name, Laura, and called her Lolo. So, now, whenever I see that name, I think of her. She told me that she's never heard of Town Hall.

Anyway, I wanted to let you know that I enjoy your comments, most of the time.

Cash and Cultural Wars
Whoa is me! Life in America today doesn't look like you think is should!? So who died and made you think you get to prounce what life in America should be? Such arrogance!
The term "men in conservative" says it all. . .women jus have to put up with forced childbearing because it might offend your faith?
Women should just accept lower pay for the same work and refusal to institutions of higher learning so you can get ahead without having to compete so hard? Oh my, you poor baby!
Minorities are to just accept second class citizenship because you might feel threatened by their demands for equality and a say in their political life? My god, what next, a mortage on good terms? What is this world coming too?
The one thing that nasty Ronald Reagan did that you conservatives refuse to acknowledge is his inability to balance a checkbook or a budget despite all your education, claims to want a smaller government and think government should stay out of people's lives [except when women are pregnant-can't trust those women with somthing so important as pregnancy]; you and your nasty, demonazing rhetoric has lead to the worse deficits in history. . .I hope you are happy with your mess cause it will take a democrat to clean up this mess!
Take your cash and go start your own country and leave mine alone.

Clearly you are running scared.
And why not. You know, that example of sending
your daughter off to the keg party. That is
what we have done with our economics. We
threw away the restrictions, and voila - the
fox comes into the chicken house. It doesn't
take a big brain for that one.

But if you must forever remain unfettered, then
I suggest you take an extra dose of testosterone injections each day, and buy another round of ammunition.

One question before I depart: "more than watching Rosie O’Donnell river dance in a thong". In what part of "Christian" does this
belong. My opinion: you have no business
mocking anybody's lifestyle much less their
Christianity considering your own lack of
principals and propriety.

If you had any idea of what Jesus expects of
us, you would not have written half of those
paragraphs above.

Beware conservatives
We in the Libural-Kommie-Socialist-Homo-Loving left have decided to bankrupt your evil country, financially and morally.

We have taken over the main-stream-media and will stop at nothing to get our Socialist-Gay agenda passed to destroy everything you have worked for all of your life.

It is we who have worked for nothing, scammed the left-wing government for our welfare checks and secured the teaching institutions for our goals.

The revolution WILL be televised and it will be us behind the cameras.

Beware my little sheep. Rush will be the first to go to the dark side.

Then it will be your pet rabbits. And maybe your pole-barns too. We don't need your guns, we have our own.

Have a Happy Day.

Yer darn right I'm freakin
We've ceded portions of our GDP to the liberal invasion (social programs) the same way Israel has ceded portions of its land to the Palestinian invasion.

Alice -- Where to start?
1- Get pregnant, give birth...
Don't get pregnant, don't give birth...
Your choice.

2- Same work, different pay? Don't take the job.
Your choice.

3- I wonder about any minority that consistently votes a 95% block for the same party that historically denied them equal rights and fought tooth and nail against the CRA of '64, destroys their families and aborts their kids. Makes me wonder what is broken in their thinking process.

4- If they [I presume you mean minorities] have a decent credit history and a record of paying back loans, they -- and anyone else -- can get any kind of loan at decent rates. The key here -- now pay attention -- is the phrase "pays back loans on time". That is the ONLY thing banks care about.

5- If we take our cash and leave the country, there won't be any money to tax for your unearned income and welfare projects. Ants and grasshoppers, remember?

6- Why bother...you get the idea. Try MoveOn.org for your fellow unthinking kool-aid drinkers.

Ah, Shut Up, You Stupid Christian...
If it were up to morons like you, we would still be censoring movies and burning comic books like the Catholics did in the 1930s and 1950s. Compared to today, I'm more worried about a bunch of whiny Christians holding a vigil in front of an abortion clinic than whatever Tommy Lee screwed or something like that. So will you just shut the f-word up? Geesh!

And FYI: Tommy Lee is more dangerous to my copyrighted work than he is to some one-night stands.

Dear 7 Sicks
Thanks for illustrating Giles' point. That half-wit diatribe for perversity clarifies everything that conservatives stand against. It also makes plain the warped, pop culture mindset that has trashed this country and its values. You're the enemy, pal. Every bit as much as Al Qaida is.

Doug Giles Column
Greetings;
Doug Giles virulent diatribe against what he sees as objectionable trends in the US should be examined for what it is: the ranting and ravings of one who is using fear to try to keep this nation from moving forward into the future.

Giles criticizes members of religious groups for having a dinner and engaging in dialogue with the Iranian president Ahmadinejad. Would Giles prefer a war against Iran, like the current one with Iraq, with thousands of US soldiers dead, hundreds of thousands of Iranian citizens killed and hundreds of billions of dollars belonging to the US taxpayers wasted, while the conservative US federal government continues to neglect serious domestic problems like health care, environmental protection and our wrecked financial system?

Giles claims that environmentals are responsible for the high gas prices. No way. The conservative, backwards-thinking governments of Reagan, Bush, and Bush which focused on oil and pooh-poohed alternative, clean energy investements is the reason we now are struggling to catch with other industralized countries who are far ahead of us in utilizing solar, wind, and other clean solutions to energy shortages such as conservation, mass transit, etc. If the energy policies of the Carter Adminnistration had been continued by Reagan we might have avoided two wars with Iraq as well as the current high prices of gasoline. Giles should consider doing a little homework before putting his pen to paper.

"The big brothering of the private sector," has also been a product of conservatives with the Patriot Act invading our privacy, and more emphasis on personal invasion of our private lives as a solution to possible security problems.

I suggest that Mr. Giles might want to do a little more research into the history and facts of these topics before writing about them.

Sincerely,
Leonard Nolt
