I’d like to see a nationwide tsunami of ladies equipped to the teeth with the physical prowess and the firearm capability to kill any and all would-be murderers and rapists should such a creeps ever accost them.

I have a dream!

A dream where girls walk in utter confidence amongst the masturbatory me-monkeys that surround them. A dream where women have solid assurance that they can and will serve some ham-fisted tool his own scrotum if need be.

I have a dream!

A dream where instead of reading about a cute college coed left dead and naked out in a vacant lot or bloated and floating in a river, the story reads, “dead jack ass found double-tapped and dead on the curb as his soul wings its way to hell, all because he messed with the wrong mama.”

A dream where it’s normal for girls to know Jui Jitsu and mixed martial arts. A dream where they can shoot golf ball sized groups with their .38 at 15ft. A dream where they have a BS detector that’s so sensitive they can read people and environments with godlike clarity within a nanosecond.

I have a dream!

A dream where the Johan van der Sloots and all the other Bobbie Cutts-like splooge brained droogies in the midst of us live forever in fear. A dream where parents will raise their daughters to be sweet and deadly dames.

I have a dream where if some douche bag in the name of his stupid religion ever abuses his wife or daughter and God doesn’t strike him dead on the spot, that his wife or daughter will. Okay, maybe that’s too extreme. How about put him in an irreversible coma?

I have a dream!

A dream where the tide turns in the news cycle and we start hearing reports of molesting men going to an early grave instead of a good girl. A dream where if a girl tells her buddies that a guy is bothering her, her friends scare the living daylights out of him. Can I get a witness?

I have a dream where Christian parents will flush this “turn the other cheek” stuff down the crapper once and for all when it comes to their daughter being assaulted by an autoerotic mook trying to work out his Silence of the Lambs fantasy in real time.

I have a dream!

How did this dream come about? This holy vision came from God in direct response to my prayers over the cultural nightmare women in the US live with now, namely:

• One rape or sexual assault occurring every two minutes

• One violent crime occurring every five seconds

• 172 women being physically and/or sexually assaulted every hour

• 261,000 rapes and sexual assaults occurring in the US in 2006

• 2.8 percent of college women experiencing rape (according to a six-month US Department of Justice study)

• 17 percent of rape or sexual assault victims being victimized by someone they knew

• One murder occurring every 34 minutes

How do I know it was God who spawned this afflatus? It’s was easy for me to know it was Him because every time He speaks to me (and it’s quite often), it’s always in a high-pitched, angry Chinese accent.

In addition to God birthing this vision within me, another factor gave rise to this would-be dream world of mine: I just realized that protective fathers, brothers, friends and bad-ass uncles aren’t omnipresent (I know . . . I’m slow. I went to public school), and therefore all girls everywhere have to rely upon themselves as their first line of defense.

Yes, since their gallant male counterparts can’t be everywhere at all times to render aid, we’ve got make certain that our babies know how to leave a bad guy severely inoperative and, if need be, kill them all by their lonesome. That is my definition of “girl power.” This is my dream: all girls of every conceivable stripe having the attitude, skill, and force to pulverize a felonious punk.

I’d like see the following:

• One million girls flooding into martial art classes

• One million girls getting handgun training

• One million girls purchasing their own piece and getting licensed to carry it

• One million girls getting a taser for the less egregious attacks (www.shieldher.com)

• One million girls getting a heavy dose of common sense to avoid, as much as possible, dangerous scenarios

This concludes my heavenly vision.

*Not only do I have a dream, I’m writing a book on the topic “How to Keep Thugs and Bad Boys away from Daddy’s Little Girl” (Thomas Nelson, Nov. 2008).

This is interesting. Are we talking "feminazis" here, Doug?" Are we going to have a little set-to right on the picket fence garden on TH?

In one corner, we have Mike Adams posting column after column about the tyranny and unamericanism of empowered women, and in the other corner, there is Doug giles waxing poetic about a world in which "a nationwide tsunami of ladies equipped to the teeth with the physical prowess and the firearm capability to kill any and all would-be murderers and rapists should such a creeps ever accost them. "

Holy Feminism!!!!!!

Giles: You are in direct opposition to Adams, who's notion of the true female is: christian, virginal, weak, submissive, -- and faints alot. Can you call him out to have a rumble on your turf? Can you challenge him to a confrontation at dawn in which he can choose the weapons?

This should be great. I'm going to come early with my folding chair and sparklers. I will also wear your colors, Doug, as I'm on the side of a man who calls for armed, impudent women. (as opposed to a man who likes them to be wussy).

Could it be that I've underestimated you all these months? That the macho, score-settling, take-back-the=night she-devils that Adams is so afraid of can actually count you among their friends?

Life is nothing, if not full of surprises.

this corner Doug.

We used to execute rapists in this country which sent a powerful message to anyone contemplating this hideous crime against women.
No man could ever imagine the trauma, both physically and mentally, of such an attack, yet the liberal ACLU and others that are sooo concerned about statistics that more blacks were executed than whites got things changed and put women at risk.

I firmly believe that Roe V wade devalued life in this country to the point that some, like the monsters of Columbine, saw no problem in their actions, do we know if a sibling was murdered in the womb, do we care?

Rapists and child molesters should go straight to the gallows if DNA proves their guilt, I have no problem with a cop capping someone on the spot if they are attacking a child, anyone with that mindset is too sick to be allowed to live.

It's time to get tough on these animals.

Dangerous World
Our world is becoming ever more dangerous as we leave the teaching of Christ and turn more to social-liberalism. "Me" centered social-liberalism cheapens the life and well-being of everyone who is not "me". We need to teach not only our daughters, but our sons as well to be morally pure and to stand up to and defeat those who would do them harm. We can not trust the system - the system has failed us too often: criminals get off on technicalities, get out early on parole due to the prisons being overcrowded with minor drug offenders. The violence filled media further cheapens human life, when combined, as it is today, with absentee parents. Society needs stay at home mothers and strong, provider fathers to give the kids the moral building blocks to be solid citizens and leaders. Instead, we have working mothers and fathers who are either not there at all, or have no time. The "me" society is a self-destructive society. It will take our kids with it, if we do not arm them with morals and physical ability to defend themselves against it.

My dream
is when girls use sex to gain the "popularity" so important to them, their mothers beat the bejeezis out of them for taking advantage of socially and sexually naive young men. Of course, to be fair, the young men ought to have to watch the salesperson who sold them their provocative outfits be berated.

I think this is the first concern, right here. Who would have thought that the women's lib movement's primary contribution to the "progress" of society would be a world where teenaged girls cannot wait to post their nudie pictures online, and play to the prurient interests of a disaffected, and at best anonymous, audience.

As much as I agree with the sentiment, and as much as I see the problem as one of basic civility (please & thank you, anyone? Not Gimme! Now! F-YOU! etc.), and that Bad Boys need putting down, I think it is the ridiculous idea that basic human nature (dirty and nasty as it can certainly be) will be positively changed or averted merely by violent interdiction.

After all, does not Kung Fu mean "open hand"?

They don't call guns...
...the great "equalizer" for nothing.With a gun,and the knowledge of knowing how and when to use it,any 98 pound woman is superior to a 250 pound man.If he is armed,then at the very least they are "equal".

Old problem, simple solution
My late mother (1913-1998) worked in her hometown's drygoods store while she was in high school. One night while walking home, a car with several guys in it slowed down next to her, and they called out , "Wanna ride, little girl?"- while trying to cut her off by pulling the car in front of her, off the road.

She had a Case jackknife she'd just bought for her brother, so she took it out of her pocket with it laid along her index finger, aimed it like a gun, and told them in a firm voice, "Hit the road, NOW." The moonlight glinted off the nickeled surface of the Case, they saw it, one of them yelled, "J***s C****t, she's got a gun!"- and they laid rubber getting out of there.

The next morning she reported the incident to the local Sheriff. He took the report, had her sign it as witness- and then reached in his desk drawer and handed her a nickel-plated .25 ACP Baby Browning pocket auto. "Use this for a couple of days until I can get you a real gun" he said.

After that two days, in addition to the .25, he gave her another bit of equipment. For the rest of her adolescence, until she went off to college, whenever she was out walking anywhere, in the pocket of her coat rested a Colt New Service double-action revolver in .45 Colt. Anyone trying anything untoward would have received 255 grains of "attitude adjustment" on the spot. Since everyone in the county knew she had it, she never needed to use it- except during rabbit season. (She preferred it to a .22 rifle for that job.)

P.S. She was the one who taught me to shoot.

I assume this article is in response to the two murdered girls from Auburn and UNC.An African American male has been arrested for the auburn murder.Police have released a photo of a possibe suspect in the murder of the girl at UNC.He's black." I have a dream " is the most well known sentence Martin Luther King ever spoke.Is the writer trying to say something here about black crime? If so ,he should just say it.Heather Mac Donald would ! It's time this country adressed many of our domestic problems.I wholeheartedly agree that women need to become prepared to defend themselves.I just think the article could have been written better.I've never heard or read Giles before.Is he an entertainment guy?

You really need to meet some more Christian women if you think the Mr. Giles and Dr. Adams are not on the same page.
Dr. Adams talks about feminists, who in my opinion are among the weakest women on the planet. How else can you explain those who are offended at every turn?
How is it that you think that Christian, virginal girls are weak? Those girls possess some pretty powerful self-control to say no in a culture where your average co-ed has become a prostitute without pay. They are strong enough to say, "Hey buddy, until you are man enough to make a life-long commitment to me you are unworthy to lay a hand on me."
The same goes for submissive wives. We have to lay down our "me,me me" selfish nature to be a helpmate to our husbands and let him lead without our hindurance. Now that takes some serious self-discipline.
And no touj, the feminazis would not count Mr. Giles as a friend, because remember, he likes guns. And "guns kill people", so law abiding citizens shouldn't have them. To a feminist every place has to be a "gun-free zone", or a "violence-free zone" or a "hate-speech free zone". They need all these safety zones because they don't have what it takes to defend themselves both physically and emotionally.Now that's weak!!!!

Both the Black men who murdered these White girls will be held harmless. They will be described as *children* and anyone who dares point at them will hear YOUARACIST! loud and clear.

Until we get to the point where a criminal is a criminal, regardless of what colour he or his victim may be, we can get on with solving this situation.

P.S. I agree wholeheartedly with the poster who suggested girls behaving like hoochies should also receive a good whupping from Mom. (No use talking about Dad here; he is out there drooling over girls his daughters age and adding to the problem, not the solution.)

Thank you for bringing up an obvious (since you mention it) slant to Giles column. I had completely missed the connection from "I have a dream" through guns/self defense for females on through to black crime. I agree if Giles meant a connection, he should have straightforwardly said it. We have several very thoughtful black contributors. Since they have my respect, i consider their views carefully, even when i disagree. As for Giles, he is very pro 2nd amendment. I have not noted much from him specifically on race or black crime.

"I Have A Dream"
Doug excellant column. So you know we've been having this same dream, and I love the fact that you used the words "I Have A Dream" it seems some people, view these words as sacred and exclusive to Martin Luther King Jr. and when used in differing context, for some unknown reason is a form of disrespect.
Should I explain how insignificant this is in the main scheme of things? No! Hell no! life is too short.
Anyway, back to the "dream" as you well know the U.N. have, just recently wrapped up or are wrapping up as we speak, an International Conference on Women's Issues Worlwide and most of what you talked about in your column is happening all over the world, now I know you're just applying your dream to just Western Women who do have the choice to be armed or not. However, the grim reality for the rest of the world is more of a religous and cultural one, where for the most part most women don't have a choice.

Women need to protect themselves
Too many women place themselves in abusive relationsips, endanger their children (especially with boyfriend "uncles"), and use alcohol and illegal drugs in volatile situations.

Teenaged girls and women college students particularly endanger themselves indulging in binge drinking, posting questionable personal material on websites and social organizations like Facebook and MySpace, and being alone in the night time or strange areas.

Even at home, keep doors locked. Get a dog, if allowed, don't frivolously give out email and phone numbers, and go out in groups.

Yearly, many thousands of girls/women simply disappear, children are abused and sometimes killed, families are disrupted forever simply because women place themselves in dangerous situations.

Feminists may rant about how independent and self sufficient women should be but if placed against an ordinary man with only his normal body strength, the vast majority of women cannot run fast enough or fight back hard enough to save themselves.

They should never use "love" as an excuse to let themselves or their children be hurt. Society and law try to control predators, but abrogating social norms of protection for women and the "innocence" of women through pornography and "no-fault" legislation have opened a Pandora's box of evils perpetuated against women. Women should take care of themselves.

Look at the world
I think we all agree how terrible these crimes against women can be and are in today's world. I'm surprised no one has mentioned Islamic extremeist here. Many "anti-Bush" people think we should walk away from extremist issues and let them be. Muslim extremists are the worst for crimes against women and many want to look the other way. "Get out of Iraq"...."not our business"....well it is our business to protect women anywhere. Another reason why the US should try to straighten out the mid east. How convienent that groups on the left in America forget others so as not to support our president.

You make some excellent points, but that's not exactly what Giles was talking about.

Giles seems to be talking about situations that girls and young women did NOT PUT THEMSELVES in.

That's not to say that you, and some other posters don't have excellent points, but those are for a DIFFERENT column and a different day.

And as for back on subject, i enjoyed Eon's story about his mother and her .45 Colt New Service. He got the bullet weight right, too, indicating Mom may have taught him more than marksmanship. Small towns and large revolvers have always been a low-crime situation.

A U.S. Air Force study, The False Rape Allegation in the Military Community (1983), investigated 556 cases of alleged rape, and found a 60% rate of false rape accusations! As part of the study, women who were found to have made false accusations were asked "Why?"

The study found that most false accusations are "instrumental" — they serve a purpose. An unrelated Washington Post article, "Unfounded Rape Reports Baffle Investigators" (6/27/1992) also found a wide range of motivations to falsely accuse men of rape. Anger towards boyfriends was common. One woman had her boyfriend spend 13 months in jail before she acknowledged that she lied. One woman accused her newspaper delivery man of raping her at gunpoint because she needed an excuse to be late to work. Neither woman was prosecuted or even reprimanded for lying to the police and attempting to have a man frivolously imprisoned.
All rape accusations need to be considered seriously as no doubt rape does indeed occur. But a balance needs to be maintained between the claims of the accuser against the all-too-often legitimate denial of the accused. (there are NO false rape accusation hotlines)

Women who are found to have made a false sexual assault complaint should receive the same jail sentence as the male victim would have received if he had been convicted. That will put the brakes on fake rape.

Up until a few generations ago, throughout all preceding history, mankind fully understood human nature and wisely set rules to subdue it: young women never ventured out alone, unmarried couples were never without a chaperone, women dressed modestly if they didn't want to be construed as protitutes, people who peddled pornography were ostracized and run out of town. But, in our sudden "enlightenment" these last few decades, we have seen social disasters at an unprecedented rate. Now, every teen has unfettered freedom and access. My Daughter
First, contrary to what AudiR10 has to say about dads, there are still some of us who are part of the solution. My teenage daughter and I have spent countless hours in discussions about proper behavior, safety, etc. And she has never seen anything from me to make her question my sincerity. She doesn't see the "do as I say, not as I do" thing. There are still good dads out there, in spite of what seems to be the trend to ignore that fact.
Second, Mr. Giles makes a lot of great points. We have to teach our daughters to be smart and safe. Part of it is teaching them to make good choices (avoid dangerous situations), and part of it is teaching them how to deal with the unexpected situations. Wether it's learning to change a tire on a car, fix a leaky faucet, or use a weapon to fight off an attacker. My daughter is learning all of those things. But she is also learning that she is smart enough and capable enough to do anything she wants with her life.
I'd love to see more thoughts on this subject, but right now, I've got to go. The youth shooting group is meeting today at my shooting club. Today we continue that part of her education.

I have a dream that one day liberals will come to see how their own actions and ideology have aided and abetted those who would hurt women.

First, liberals are notoriously, and ironically, soft on crime. Show me a person who thinks sex criminals can be rehabbed, who thinks prison sentences are too harsh, and who doesn’t think we should build more prisons, and I’ll show you a liberal. Show me a person who is against the death penalty, and I’ll show you a liberal. I know someone here brought up the ACLU. Need I say more?

Second - who, at this very moment, is working to ban guns in America? Liberals. The one weapon that would give women a fighting chance against those who would want to harm them, and the liberals are trying to take it away. This despite all evidence that gun bans do not reduce crime.

Finally, liberals have made it a sin to criticize the behaviors that lead to a woman’s own misery and/or demise. Not long ago I recounted a story on my blog about a woman whose stupid actions ultimately contributed to the deaths of her and her young son (“Sometimes it is Appropriate to Blame the Victim”). The program (American Justice) was clearly sympathetic to her tragedy but stopped short of saying the obvious: if not for her own actions, she and her son might still be alive. It’s just not PC to do so, which is too bad because there might be a lesson in there for the next woman who wants to be stupid.

Speaking as member of the selfless, “disposable” gender, I have dream: an “Equal Responsibility Amendment” (ERA) which should contain the following items:

(a) Women are legally held accountable for their criminal behavior (e.g., CAPT Lisa Nowak, Mary Winkler, Andrea Yates, Debra LaFave, etc.) like their male counterparts;
(b) Current paternal court system is overhauled to be gender-neutral WRT divorce, alimony, child custody & child support
(c) The law mandates automatic paternity tests for all children born in the U.S. (NOW is fighting this tooth & nail in Tennessee)
(d) Women accept the consequences of engaging relations w/ men with whom they really don’t want to have children rather than using abortion as de facto birth control (apparently 30% of U.S. children conceived are currently aborted- pretty pathetic behavior on the part of the “morally superior” gender);
(e) Women are prosecuted for initiating domestic violence, i.e., men hit harder, but women hit first
(f) Women are prosecuted for committing the most despicable form of domestic abuse & are treated as the legal equivalent or rapists: Paternity Fraud (we will need to build more prisons because at least 10% of female population is guilty); and
(g) “Chivalry” extended toward women will be treated as a felony.

I have a dream that society treats women like the rational, responsible “franchised” individuals they can be when held accountable for their actions instead of being allowed to play the “victim group identity-politics” game in perpetuity.

In fact, a few days ago I got into a "discussion" with a raving liberal who thought CHILDREN should be taught about "safe sex."

He couldn't grasp the idea that when I was young and in high school (in NYS), if a young man was caught (or found out) having sex with a girl under 18yrs. old, chances were VERY GOOD that he would be going to JAIL. Consequently, girls under 18yrs. old were often referred to as "JAIL BAIT."

But then, that was when most girls actually cared about their reputation, and the burning question was "Do you KISS a guy on the first date and take a chance on ruining your reputation."

It's a matter of self respect, and we've lost that concept. Now we have to worry about girls protecting themselves because we have no boundaries or self respect...

The NY girl who was under the influence going into a bar alone, the young girl leaving her group to get into a car with 3 boys. What ever gave them the idea that they were somehow above all this and it could never happen to them. I also question parents who send their daughters to DC to service Congress critters. Even as a young male I was smart enough to avoid these similar situations, what has changed?

The double standard works for and against men and women. There are advantages and disadvantages, physical, legal and emotional about being male or female. The relative fairness and inequities are difficult to resolve. The subject is so big and so personal, i do not care to pursue it right now. Suffice it to say, i find women a positive part of my life, and trust i have been a positive influence in return. There are so many women with whom i need not battle, i have little time or energy left for fights easily avoided. Just as it is difficult to cheat an honest man, so a few simple rules and keeping in mind there is no such thing as a free lunch, have stood me in good stead through a long and pleasantly checkered career. I agree with you that false accusations of rape or abuse are heinous crimes that need to be severely punished. Ironically, it should be extremely difficult to get away with these crimes given the high burden of proof required for conviction: guilty beyond a reasonable doubt. But unfortunately our justice system depends upon the intelligence and integrity of the people who run it, and this is where things often fall apart. This is why the harsh prosecution of Mike Nifong (Duke Lacrosse case) was imperative. People who hold the fate of others in their hands must be held to the highest standards. This includes police, legal, jurors, witnesses and justices. Anyone not doing their job should be severely punished.

That being said, I’m highly suspect of your statistics. The assertion that 50% of married women cheat or that 50% lie about rape is ridiculous (although I wouldn’t be surprised if the rape-lie % is pretty high). Also, this notion that men and women are equally abusive is moronic. I might believe this is true from a verbal perspective, but from a physical perspective it simply isn’t possible. You can find statistics to support whatever theory you’d like to believe, but I find that a good barometer for testing such stats is to just look at the world around you. Think about what you read in the news every day. Think about the people you’ve known. Do these stats fit what you see? It seems you’re allowing some personal experience to cloud your good judgment.

The rape, molestation, abuse, and murder of females in this country is a national disgrace. Say what you like to counter what I have just written, but regardless it's the shame of this nation. National and local leaders, civic and law enforcement, educational and religious leaders, are not giving this major major vile crime the attention that it should be given. It's time for this problem to come to the fore and the nation and it leaders give it the attention and remedy that it calls for, and this means from the US president down to the individual citizens. There are instances of this crime being committed and the perpetrator gets little if any prison time.
This is not to say that men aren't also murdered, molested, and raped, but then it's also men who commit these acts for the most part.

I am
I am a tall, athletic woman who was taught to life weights, box by my late father and discipline myself with ballet as well.
He was a probation officer and tough disciplinarian. He was protected and gave my sister and I both, non gender names that are strong and literally denote warriors or high birth. His cultural heritage was woman centric and not prone to discriminate against women.
He held a great deal of outrage at the abuse of women and had to monitor many men who did.
Men are challenged by strong women and are intimidated by intellect, spiritual maturity and sometimes the physical prowess of women.
They simply gang up, or do someting brutal as a last resort to put women in their place one way or another.
Violence begets violence. The typical criticism of feminists or lesbians here is also indicative of the inherent prejudice that women still maintain a quiet and non threatening presence.
To not present any characteristics thought to be the sole domain of men. And women have been directed that way by religious text as well as punished for such bold individuality since.
I already said that since most religious laws have been written, interpreted and implemented exclusively by men...I have found them ALL suspect.
So folks, I don't think a majority mean what you say or really say what you mean.
And the brutality against females continue.
A good many of the typical TH posters don't agree here, except in the archaic concept that women are monolithic and should be predetermined simply because of their gender.

To some of TH's typical writers, color, gender and sexual orientation STILL denote the content of character and again, the belief that all those things present a monolith, rather than individuals makes it very clear why some things won't change for the better any time soon.
Doug Giles typically calls for violence meeting violence and he has little to offer as to solutions without it.
Gays and lesbians represent people who cannot be defined by their gender AND sexual orientation as simply THAT.
All manner of negative connotations are added on that have no basis in reality.
Same goes for the role of gender in marriage. That, rather than the role of MARRIAGE itself gets distorted often too. And how men and women are meant to or are supposed to relate gets romanticized, when all around us, as I keep saying...real life isn't that way BECAUSE gender and it's role keep getting forced into a narrow box marked 'nature'. And it's inappropriate and incompatible with that label.
Individuals matter more than their physical attributes.
Some even argue here in TH and literally reduce men and women to their sexual organs and their uses.
As if a brain and heart and spirit have a gender too and don't matter at all.
You know it happens.
And that's why there are many of you I wouldn't trust with a daughter or around any female because the basic belief is still that they are here for ONLY one purpose: to compliment a man.
Men and women are with many attributes that can have many uses, and it's the individual who should be able to find their own path that matters. Not poaching one another for each other's USE.

I also don't think men have it easy, either, if for different reasons.

Although things are changing, for many reasons, men in middle class America have always seemed to me to have fewer choices in life because their roles are so tightly defined as well. A woman, say, who decides to write a novel and maybe contribute financially to the family on the long chance that it gets published is admired, a man who would do that and not bring home a regular paycheck is deplored.

This particular prototype is probably disappearing pretty quickly, but I still think that in general men often have a stricter social role to bear.

Unfortunately this Dream came too late for both my sister and wife.

20 years ago my sister was robed, raped, severely beaten, and left for dead on a Washington DC street. Fortunately she survived, but spent a month in hospital recovery. She was a liberal then, with predictable anti gun bias. After recovering, I bought her a handgun, and with extensive training, she became an expert marksman. She still lives in DC. (a so called “a gun free city”), but always carries a gun. Yes, she’s technically a “criminal” for doing so. And we need lots more “criminals” like her to deliver a LOUD & DEADLY message to dirt-bags.

My wife also became a “criminal” after being mugged in our garage by an illegal alien employed as a gardener by our home owners association. Yes, she’s now technically a “criminal”, as we live in a State refusing to grant CCW permits to most civilians. And it took this kind of incident to force our association to stop employing illegals. But that‘s another issue. She’s now insured by Smith & Wesson. Another “criminal” helping keep dirt-bags in check.

I dream of a country where girls are taught to be ladies, and boys are taught to be gentlemen. A dream of a country where men are responsible for their womenfolk, and so if one of these creeps tries to harm a woman or a girl, the man escorting them butchers the creep.

I have a dream where women wake up to their femininity, and leave the violence to the menfolk. When women turn their backs on the cult of equality, and once again admire and respect the men in their lives who sacrifice and risk their own necks for the sake of those women.

I dream of a world where women deserve protection by men.

I have limited sympathy for females in general. Almost always when I read about or see where a woman has been abused, raped or murdered, at some point it becomes obvious that she had her head up her backside, trusting in the world around her to keep her safe. "I have a perfect RIGHT to walk down a dark alley at midnight, stark naked with a fistful of $100 bills!" is the kind of logic females seem to exercise. You thought it was safe from the moonbats "Unofficial enemy ace" JetPilot sputters in. I recall that South FL there was a huge rash of rape in the late Eighties. The Sheriff's Dept. accepted over 2,500 female applicants for carry permits, trained them in safe handling and shooting and also in the legal aspects of armed self-defense and then turned them loose. NONE of them were named to the press or public. Therefore the slobbering goons had no clue whether or not their next foray would end in a .38 caliber vasectomy on the spot.

Golly gee willy whockers!! The incidence of rape fell off sharply. I wonder why? Obviously the moonbats have no clue. This also why the "evil, racist, sexist, bigotted and homophobic" NRA teamed up with gay community activists in San Fran and other cities to form the "Pink Pistols". A lot of gays were so fearful of being assualted that they started to keep guns at home (there are only about 5 legal carry permits in San Fran and Feinstein has one of them) and the gun dealers were worried that they'd shoot a foot off.

Most dealers are NRA members and some are safety instructors. Soon they got the new gun owners (who would still rather eat a dead rat rather than vote GOP) trained in safe handling and storage of their new guns. These shooters then formed the Pink Pistols to remove the stigma of gun ownership among gays. They even have a competitive shooting team in many cities and shoot in leagues. I don't have the exact person or quote handy at the time, but during the Revolutionary War, a British parliament member said something to the efect of that the Amercians want their liberty badly, but let us see what they choose to do with it before we congratulate them.
The idea of liberty has been turned on its head because it has become completely disconnected from responsibility. I don't believe Mr. Giles is being hypocritical in his article - we have turned into a "victim" society and expect the government to do all it can to take care of us victims. We also have turned liberty into the concept that nothing anyone says or does in the name of freedom of speech can be construed as offensive, in spite of studies showing negative effects of violence and pornography in media. We would prefer to protect someone's right to express filth than to think of the effect that could have on others. We are also terrified to be politically incorrect and say that there are standards of behavior that are acceptable and not acceptable. What have we done with our "liberty"? Think ACLU.

The Dream's A Nightmare.....
I may be telling my age,but what the heck...When I was growing up,if there was a "loose" girl in town,she was sort of ,an outcast. Boys would "go with"her,but not in public.

If a girl got pregnant,she was shamed for losing her virginity.Of course,she kept the baby and parents helped "raise"it. Or she and the baby's father got married .Abortion was out of the question.This alone kept a lot of girls from "experimenting."

Then feminization raised it's ugly head.They got the pill and we see the results.Promiscuity is not even frowned on,neither is unwed mothers. There's too much of it.Boys don't have to chase girls today.They have to try to outrun them,they have gotten so bold.

Girls need to demand respect or they won't get it,but they have to respect themselves first.It is no wonder these "sperm donors" just "hit and run".They have no respect for the girls and feel no obligation to them.It is usually just a game to both.

There is a book called every mans battle where the author says ninety percent of men don't have the spiritual freedom they could have in this area adn are addicted fractionally to a pleasure high.

Ten percent of men are real sex addicts with serious mental/spiritual problems it says in the book.

So, since most men honestly struggle with properly regarding women in some way I think this author should be more compassionate for the ten percent of guys who are more prone to mess up in serious ways.

On Being Prepared
My beautiful bride of 42 years came out of a shopping mall in broad daylight. She had just had our two female Bichons groomed and as she was putting them in the car a thug attacked her. The little dogs tried to protect "mommy" but the thug threw my wife to the ground and attempted to snatch her purse. My wife has a concealed carry permit and had a loaded 38 in her purse and is an expert shot. A young black man joined the fray and after running off the thug he made sure my wife and dogs were secured in the car and then phoned police.

Moral of the story: no matter how prepared we are and how diligent we are about our whereabouts, the dregs of society will prey on each and everyone of us given the chance.

Would all of us follow the example of this outstanding young man. God bless him eternally!

My sister was also a victim in a parking lot last week - the theives waited for her to into the Mall after putting her purse in the trunk f the car, then smashed the driver's window, released the trunk and grabbed the purse.
Later they were identified, one was 15 and the other two were 17 (there were two cars).

Maybe you're right, it's too bad she didn't hide in the back seat with a weapon so she could have blown their heads off for taking her purse.

1. They did not "jostle her car with theirs". She was on foot. At the time, her family (one mother, seven sisters, one brother- her father having died of a heart attack in 1920) only owned one car, and her brother used it to get to work.

2. The "cutoff maneuver" is hardly a "jostle". It is when someone pulls their vehicle diagonally across the road- or in this case, the shoulder of the road- in your path to roadblock you.

3. At the time and place (Meigs Co., OH, c. 1928), rape, murder, etc., were significantly less common than they are today overall. However, such things did happen. Especially if, in spite of the Volstead Act, the perpetrators were drunk. According to her, these fellows sounded pretty well swacked. (It was a Friday night, BTW.)

4. The reasons I did not include these details initially were (a) a desire to avoid being too specific on a public forum (I value my privacy) and (b) not being sure how many characters Townhall allows per post these days.

5. Did you actually read what I posted, or were you too busy confabulating a version that would support your "arguments"?

Protection of Little Girls

Nobody ever got away with raping me, but one man who attacked me ended up putting another woman in the hospital after raping her, because nobody would believe what I said. Oh, the people in the town it happened in apologized to me, TOO LATE.

God willing, more and more people will wake up to the fact that they have a right to defend themselves and more and more thugs who attempt to lay violent hands on another will be given .357 reasons to regret it.

I'm short, overweight, clumsy, and asthmatic. I have less chance of running away from a thug bent on amusing himself with my body than my toddler has -- especially if I've got the younger children in tow.

I'm getting my conceal carry permit because I've never been passive and helpless about anything in my life and I don't intend to be passive and helpless in the face of the increasing disregard for human life. How Bad are Inner Cities?

We see the statistics... but are they accurate?

Growing up in Detroit, I was the "victim" of many crimes over the years. I have been assaulted, bullets shot through my roof, cars broken into 4 times, tires slashed, garage broken into, bicycles stolen, plenty of property damage, 1 home invaded, etc.

Now consider this... I have Never reported a crime to the Police. Nor have most of my neighbors who were victimized many times over the years.

So tell me... how many crimes are committed in the ghetto?

My best guess, about 8 times what is reported.

Contrary to what some believe, neither military nor police have a Duty to PROTECT. This is a commonly held myth, recently adjudicated in the courts which have ruled that individuals are ultimately responsible for their own safety. Police, and military, (under declared martial law), are mandated to react only AFTER the fact and have no legal responsibility to act preemptively in protecting individuals. That is a long gone concept in the police forces of the world. Her in the USA you cannot ever bring suit against the police for failing to protect you, as pointed out by Ragnar. It is not a civil responsibility taken on by any branch of domestic police. The courts will not allow it, even in D.C. and New York.

Conversely, it is quite possible that they will take the initiative to "protect" felons from you if you are caught with a gun in those towns.

Technically speaking, it is not about
women, nor men, misbehaving or being polite or respectful, or any of that. The issue is that of leverage and projection of power... then the men will behave.

Given the proper leverage a lesser force can overcome a great weight. Given the proper tool the force of one's will can be imposed at a distance. In personal confrontations it is normal for the stronger person to win.

So, since most criminals are men, and criminals tend to pick targets that are potentially weak, it falls to the women to arm themselves so as to overcome the great weight of the aggressors. Guns are just the tool for the job.

I would that all children get martial arts training from the age of seven. That they get Eddie Eagle gun safety training starting at age four and every year after until they start hunting safety and rifle training.

By graduation from high school all our kids should have had the equivalent of black belt training in martial arts. The women should have advanced hand gun training and successfully complete a course similar to Massad Ayoob's Lethal Force Institute. At graduation all the women get a carry permit and a voucher for a dicount on the firearm of their choice.

Excellent point, which Ive made in previous posts. I’m a case example. The one time I had to use a gun in self defense, I didn’t report the shooting, as I had no CCW permit, and I still carry without one. Fortunately I was able to leave the shooting scene unobserved. Otherwise I, the intended victim, would have been charged with a felony. I suspect that for similar reasons, many otherwise justified gun use in self defense also go unreported.

of evil and bad behavior. Teaching love and kindness is very important, but tolerance is not a Christian principle. It is contradictory to the witness of the Gospel of Jesus Christ. The thread of discipline so soundly and consistently taught and exemplified in scripture is what ties love to conduct. Discipline is what makes the New Man evident as he changes his conduct according to the teachings of the Gospel and the Epistles.

We must not tolerate evil behavior. That is part of loving the unloveable. Unless the bad behavior is illuminated by the truth of the Word there can be no change, and thus no growth in the Church. Tolerance as it is practiced in our "liberal" educational system and culture is a devilish practice which injures and kills innocents and defeats the effective witness of the Gospel of Jesus Christ.

My ammunition is my instinct. But phsyical defense wouldn't hurt, either.

When I was a junior high school girl, a man slowed his car along side me and asked if I could give him directions somewhere.

I was never trained for such a moment, however I immediately felt danger. I took off so fast for my home, across many lawns and in full view.

I was determined & lucky; thanking God over and over again, all the way. That day enlightened my awareness.

But there were times we girls 'hitch hiked' to the ocean beach, getting into fisherman's cars early morning. I remember praying so hard, once I realized I'd probably not made a wise choice.

My entire growing up years found prayer to be my safest and surest means for safety.

Today appears so much tougher. Could that be because we have moved so far away from God?

Our distance keeps growing larger.

But Jesus was not violent. He, himself was a calm force of spiritual presence entering a space.

I agree, He abhored sin. But didn't abhor the sinner. There is where He displayed tolerance.

My study brought me to the understanding that Jesus' proved we are good (not evil). But we do evil things, sometimes. He loved the sinner and reformed him. Changed his base of sinful behavior, by genuinely loving him and separating the person from the act of sinning.

Jesus preached our oneness with God.

Good point. And I say to Nellie: you should read Romans 13:1-4 about the role of government. Nellie seems to be one of these people who seems to have trouble with the concept that there's evil in the world - and that people have a free will to choose to do evil. There are some people in the world, Nellie, who frankly aren't deterred from doing evil by teaching, they're only deterred by the existence of severe consequences that governmental authority can bring to their lives. As a fundamentalist Christian myself, I could pontificate that I refrain from doing what I shouldn't for only one reason - fear of God - but that would be a lie: I'll freely admit that there are some things I don't do that I shouldn't be doing anyway not first and foremost out of fear of displeasing God but out of fear of the consequences I'll bring upon my life for doing them. And I say that this isn't a bad thing: if it's necessary for God to have in place ready punishment to keep me from doing things that is in no one's interests for me to do anyway, starting with my own, what's so bad about that? If this is true even for someone who fears God, how much more so is the stick needed just as much as the carrot for those who have no fear of God? God doesn't give INDIVIDUALS the right to wreak retribution on those who visit wrongs on them - but as the Scripture I cited at the beginning of this post makes clear, He gives GOVERNMENTS that power AND that responsibility. You need to face up to the hard truth, Nellie: some individuals will NOT be deterred from hurting women simply by being shown love and kindness, they'll be deterred by having the very real prospect of very painful consequences visited upon their lives in short order - and those that STILL aren't deterred need to be made to experience those consequences, as an object lesson to any imitators.

Women need to use their heads!

Do not believe everything men tell you - they lie to get what they want. When they get it, they exit.

Do not let a man have sex with you on the first date. If he wants it, it means he doesn't care if he sees you again. A man will wait if he really cares for you and wouldn't take the chance of pushing you for fear you will tell him to bug off.

Do not meet men in bars, they go there for one thing only.

Do not go out alone at night and to neighborhoods that are dicey. Wear comfortable shoes and clothes, not high heels, low cut blouses, tight sweaters and a lot of jewelry. If you do, you are advertising for a lot of punks to go after you. Can you run in high heels?

Attempting to reform sinners is not incompatible with defending oneself against those who have CHOSEN not to reform.

God gave humankind the gift of free will and that free will includes the freedom to choose evil. God does not require that those who choose to follow him lie down and passively permit evildoers to work their will on his children.

As has often been noted, people following a course of self-destruction in their lives often have to his rock-bottom before they make the CHOICE to reform. Staring down the business end of a gun is very likely to motivate reform in the survivors.

As for those who don't survive, ...

They chose the risk and they paid the price. Perhaps others will learn from their mistakes. However, there's no point wasting tears on violent thugs who sought to perpetrate mayhem and destruction on those whom they thought defenseless.

You keep talking about Jesus, but I wonder if you have truly read the Gospels. You say Jesus "loved the sinner and reformed him."

Really? Would that include the sinners who nailed him to the cross? Would that include the guards who beat him? Would that include the crowd that shouted "crucify him?"

Is that the kind of reform you're talking about?

When the man approached you in his car and asked for directions, why did you run? Why didn't you explain to him the evil of his ways, and tolerate his misunderstanding, why didn't you love him? Why did you run?

What if he had grabbed you? Would you have fought back with every tool at your disposal? Gun or hammer? Or would you talk him to death?

This echoes my post of 9 Mar. 11:36 PM; the difference being that even in cases where a shot is fired, (and it’s possible to leave the scene unobserved), gun use in self defense occasionally goes unreported. This un-reporting in both scenarios gives Liberal media more reason to claim there’s little justification for guns in self defense as it supposedly rarely occurs.

too bad what happened to townhall. Before it became a big money maker that would put anybody on who generated hits you could come here and have a high probability of thoughtful comment that would improve your thinking on world events. Instead we get this paean to violence disguised as a desire for a better world. I want a better world, too. I live in Dallas. A MAJOR convention destination. It would be nice if everytime I see a snazzy looking new building bathed in spotlights and reminding vaguely of a Greek temple, just sometimes, it was NOT a t****y bar. Sorry, I mean Gentlemen's Club.You can't say t****y on townhall. Christ, from the ads I have shoved down my throat constantly in the local music and dining rag, I don't own any clothes or a car fancy enough to go see these particular 18 year olds tempt me to reverse my feeding habits back to the first 6 months of life. I was in Oklahoma some time back and picked up a local entertainment sheet and amazingly enough it IS possible to critique dining and local bands etc without 15 pages of ads stating Brittney, Cherry, Jade and 500 other girls to BLOW (my mind) and LICK (any other massage I have had). Oh, and 20 pages of those GC's. Or an advice column discussing exactly how to do things I wish I wasn't aware people do. Even though I was only passing through I saved it to read. There was stuff in there I could find about MUSIC! FOOD! Of course, that other stuff couldn't help drive the weak-minded and jacked up on Coke to hurt people. Studies show, right? Who am I supposed to shoot to get the world I want?

Your local cops: armed
Secret service: armed
FBI: armed
ATF: armed
CIA: armed
EPA: armed
IRS agents: armed
Park rangers: armed
State troopers: armed
Border agents: armed (but they go to jail if the shoot)
They also have radios, bullet proof vests, back up, they usaually work in pairs or groups, and can carry in schools, government offices...anywhere!!!
So what do these people face in the course of a day that you and me don't? An armed thug?
I may have to face the same thug and should do it alone, no back up, no vest, and unarmed?

Is it because the thug respects those law enforcers, or is it because the thug fears their gun and don't want this crime to be his last?

yes, of course. But I was addressing Nellies idea that just loving the sinner, is all it takes for reform. Love alone does not reform the human heart. God changes hearts, not Nellie.

And she stated Jesus reformed the sinner. And I was saying, not necessarily, the case in the point being his sacrificial death. Yes, he loved them. (which Nellie claims is all we need), but they crucified him anyway.

Love and compassion are wonderful qualities. But that alone will not keep a woman from being raped and murdered.

The key is interperetation.
Scripture NEEDS to be interpereted. Sorry for the fundies out there. The line about not judging does NOT mean that we can't appraise somebody's acts and declare that this was wrong or right. That is called DISCERNMENT. The judgement part is where somebody then goes on to judge the transgressor's soul and character and predict his future spiritual destination based on earthly standards.

Not about need for guns, but the difference between a trained professional and a civilian who can't discern when they are in danger and how irrepsponsibly they store and handle their weapons.

In the countries you hear that civilians are well armed (and have less gun crime), they are also citizens of countries with mandatory military service for all their young adults and serious consequences if their guns are stolen, lost or otherwise misplaced.
We have more rights than consquences here, and these other countries also don't have a patchwork of different laws. They tend to have the same laws for their entire country.

Wrat Wrangler: you have a point about judgement and discernment. And many religious people don't seem to have a lock on that discernment. In the zeal to misunderstand the role of gender, a large part of our combined human population has been abuse by that misunderstanding written in religious text.
The measure of a person's character isn't in their gender or sexual orientation, something religious people get VERY wrong and in the process losing the ability to discern through empathy.

PA allows DNA paternity tests
for new paternity cases, but the democrat Legislature does not allow men who have been wrongly paying, before the test proved them not the father, to stop paying and to collect the money they paid from the actual father. How many of these legislators are the actual fathers?

All states and the federal govt
should have the death penalty, and all convicted murderers, rapists, pedophiles, and traitors should be sentenced to death, regardless how many are executed. The reason is simple: Few death-row inmates are paroled and returned to the streets to resume their evil ways.
Too many convicted murderers, rapists, pedophiles, and traitors serving life sentences ARE paroled and returned to the streets where they can resume their previous lives.
Do you really want a child molester released after a few years and moving in next door to you?

If you can learn how to drive a car, you can easily learn the proper handling of a firearm.
In Ohio most gun shops have or have access to a NRA certified instructor.
It's an easy course and it's required to get a CCW permit in Ohio.
Also in Ohio it's been over four years that the right to carry was passed. About 3% of the population got permits.
To this day there have been no reports of abuse or misuse of a firearm by a licensed CCW holder.
What's that tell you? Firearm accidents are very rare; most people respect their weapons!
It also seems like all holders of permits are good law abiding citizens, so far none have been misused a firearm or it would be front-page news.
How many crimes were avoided is hard to say, as posted earlier; no one reports a non-crime unless someone is shot.
I for one don't want to shoot anyone. I just carry a gun for protection of myself and my family.
The day may never come when you NEED a gun, but if that day ever comes, there is no substitute!

Feminism has made useful idiots of even the most steadfast among us. Giles is in almost all ways a man's man. Yet he has been emotionally dragged under the current of feminist dogma that causes sympathy to well up within all the while the numbers of really unfortunate women are in fact being exploited by those who have found ways to call everything form text messaging to a dirty look some kind of abuse.

Doug, you are not helping. Get out around even the most conservative evangelical churches and you'll see evangelical feminism ruining marriage...FAR MORE than anything some sex marriage could cause.
