Will the Dems' health care Christmas Present to America be an improvement or detriment to our health care system?

Not every girl wants an education, a righteous vocation, respect from decent people, excellent health, a happy family and the enjoyment of a long and fulfilling life. With the advent of Anna Nicole Smith and her ilk, Girls Gone Wild and Internet Porn, it seems as if today’s ladies would rather be known for no panties, making out with their girlfriends at Coyote Ugly, snot slinging drunkenness and having their college orgies broadcast on YouTube. You go, girl. Show you’re right.

Get it right, you holier-than-thous: not all lassies want a well-thought-of life. So back off. Some girls are chomping at the bit to step into Anna Nicole’s bra and replace her as the next human freak show. And who are we to stop them?

Conservatives, and especially us Christians, should not judge people but rather help people fulfill their dreams—even if they are not our dreams. We must remember the 11th commandment of postmodernism, namely, “thou shalt not judge.” Yes, within the secular would-be world, it is forbidden to forbid. Put that on you’re refrigerator, you buckle-shoed killjoy.

So, instead of offering some legalistic and graceless judgmental blast towards those babes who are following (or wallowing) in Anna Nicole’s path, here instead are eight helpful tips to assist you ladies in Anna Nicole Smithing (ANS) your way through life. Are you ready? You are? Then let’s get busy!

1. You’ve gotta have a “To hell with education” mindset. For all you ANSers out there, let me help you. All you need, as a maximum, is an 8th grade edumication. That’s all. Barely finishing the 8th grade furnishes one with enough 411 to make retarded, irrevocable, life-demolishing decisions. So, just stop, drop and roll right there, girl. Anyway, everyone knows that 9th grade can be real yucky. With all that English blah, blah, blah . . . and the Algebra, crazy letter, math fraction whatever junk . . . and that PE stuff and the World Historizzle crap?!? Puh-leez. You don’t need all that, girlfriend. Hel-lo . . .

2. Wannabe ANSers, you must also blow off common sense and get married when you’re 17 to the first 16-year old fry cook you meet. This little brain fart will get you the heck away from the house and all those people who rain on your dream of being the center of the universe.

3. Next, to be an effective ANSer you’ve got to get an idol. I recommend choosing a deceased, drug abusing, divorced multiple times, lost soul known only for her looks, her promiscuity and her booze and dope dependency who died at a really young age as your god. Put her posters on your wall. Act like her. Have a plastic surgeon carve up your body to look like her. Then, go bonkers doing what you imagine she would do if she wouldn’t have OD’d on Nembutal. In addition, sell your soul down the river and fully employ your faculties to become recognized as an equal (or a better) ditz to the dead chick you worship. You must have a vision.

4. When earning minimum wage starts slapping you around, instead of getting an education, retooling and rethinking your multiple idiotic decisions, just start showing guys your boobies. You can begin wherever you are. You can make good money doing this. And we know life is all about money, don’t we? For instance, you can do this for cash in the break room at WalMart or next to the deep fryer at Krispy Fried Chicken (watch out for that hot grease, though!). Once you plow through decency and your conscience has decayed enough, I would then go public with your act. Look, your body is what God (if there is a God) gave you, so why shouldn’t you trade off of it? I can’t think of any reason why not to. A girl’s gotta do what a girl’s gotta do, right? Y’dam right.

5. When you, the ANSer, begin a life of stripping or some other form of pornography, the probability of becoming self-conscience about not having 36EEE puppies might start to wear on you. If you happen to be mammary challenged, you need to follow Anna Nicole Smith’s lead and jam huge silicone sacks into your chest. On second thought, forget the silicone and stuff your chest with 15lb Everlast medicine balls. Kawabunga! That’ll get you some Benjamins.

6. To move up the ANSing ladder you must give a lap dance to some billionaire Methuselah who looks like Gollum. I’m talkin’ about a very, very wealthy and nutty octogenarian. Not only that, but you’ve got to bump & grind him so well that he coughs up not only his dentures and the Similac snack he had that afternoon, but a wedding ring and half a billion dollars. C’mon girl. Snap that thong, snap that thong, get a diamond ring and bang that gong!

7. Another thing that’ll help you scoot on down the ANSing road is to turn your vagina and all other orifices into a revolving door. Yes, when you want something like a Louis Vuitton purse, a Toyota Camry, a Tiffany charm bracelet, a breast upgrade, lip injections, Methadone, the principle part in a D-grade lesbian sci-fi flick or a house in the Bahamas . . . well, the best way to get your way is to have sex with whomever has the denari (remember point 6!). Look, that’s easier than all that working/waiting nonsense, isn’t it?

8. If you, the ANSer, choose to procreate, just make sure you do not cease your selfish and hellish lifestyle and that your kids get swamped in your wake. First of all, if you want to have a child, instead of having your kid with one man that you love, I suggest having intercourse with several men in ages ranging from 20 to 70, from photographers to princes. Secondly, to make sure your mayhem has a multigenerational effect, drinking and doing drugs while pregnant is a good way to accomplish this end. Thirdly, as your child grows, let him see that you never abandoned your destructive habits. Fourthly, if your weirdness doesn’t seem to be adversely pummeling your child, then surround yourself with creepy, opportunistic lawyers, folks with better drugs, TV producers who’ll give you big money for staying wasted and “yes men” who’ll never tell you that you are a stupid, stupid woman.

Remember ladies, when you’re attempting to court catastrophe and you don’t know what to do, simply pause and ask yourself the question, “What would Anna Nicole Smith do?” Then follow suit (keeping the above list handy is helpful, too).

Look, Anna Nicole didn’t live long, but she looked like she was having fun—didn’t she? She was on TV a lot, which was pretty cool. Since we have evolved from the fairy tale stage of religious beliefs in all that personal accountability, salvation and damnation stuff, we can rest assured that Anna Nicole has simply passed (as you will also) from one party to the next. Therefore, proceed on, girlfriend, and keep on Anna Nicole Smithing.

I Don't Need No Education
Yeah, I was thinking about that. 1) I shouldn't study English because the teacher will make me read bad books. The PABBIS (Parents Against Bad Books in Schools) website lists them; included are "Little Women" and the dictionary. 2) I shouldn't study Spanish because it's the language of those parasitic Mexicans and I certainly shouldn't study French, the language of fools and traitors. 3) I shouldn't study history because the professors are all liberal commies who lie about true American values. 4) I shouldn't study science because the Bible tells me all I need to know. 5) Best to be home-schooled, and according to homeschooling websites my homeschooling parent don't need no education neither. For example, the state of Mississippi has no educational requirement at all for a homeschooling parent: mom can be a third-grade dropout with an IQ of 43 and still take full responsibility for my book larnin', which really don't matter none as Mississippi also has no testing or record-keeping requirements.

No wish to be a Wet Blanket, but...
Dear Mr Giles,

It's generally important when you are making an argument involving the importance of education to use correct grammar and spelling. Not that it has to follow prescriptive grammar rules, but it should be readable, and it shouldn't have the classic mistake of putting "you're" when you meant "your."

In any other kind of article it's acceptable and no one pays it any mind. But when claiming the high ground on educational merit (As it is right to do in this case!) it's best to use the principle set out by Mike Adams- which is to make sure that everything you write makes sense, lest people mistake you for a signpost that points the right way, but never goes there.

Doug
You could have added to your Must Do list. Tattooing and body piercing. You know, where they take a natural beautiful body. Cover it with gawed awful ugly graffiti. And become a walking pin cushion.

Media and Sweeping Generalizations
Giles makes a sweeping generalization about "today’s ladies" based on what he sees in the media. Eyes fixed to the TV, his perception of American culture comes from watching Entertainment Tonight and American Idol. A famous person says something racist or anti-semetic and it's all over the news. Dennis Quaid funds a medical clinic in Central America and escorts gravely ill children to the US for medical care, and you don't hear a peep.

The fact is that there are a lot of intelligent, well educated ladies in this country.

It's interesting that Giles contributes to this misperception. He writes about ANS. He doesn't write about Raven. He doesn't write about America Ferrera. He doesn't write about Inday Barahona.

Dave - you're making Doug's point
You are correct that Doug makes a sweeping generalization and that he focuses on the bad. But in terms of who's hot, Dennis Quaid isn't on the list, regardless of his excellent work. I'd bet 90% of Americans would have to look up the 3 ladies you mention. Nodody has to look up Anna Nichole Smith - she's everywhere. Nobody needs to look up Paris or Lindsay or Britney.

ANS already taken
Britney Spears shaved her head ,and got a lot of ink under her skin this week.ANS had a long waiting list and took little time to fill.

But its not to late for your 12 year old to start getting ready to take Britneys place .

Hey Dave,
Wanna sell that America Ferrara? Is it a 2 door, 5 window Coupe?
I had a 72 Inday Cutlass,it was the pace car for the Inday 500 that year.Never heard of the Inday Barrahona, you sure its not a Barracuda?
And the Raven never was a big seller,I think thats the car that bancrupted AMC.

(Sorry folks ,it was to good to pass up)

Dave
Giles was not making "sweeping generalizations." about today's ladies. He is specifically talking about those that want to be a like Anna Nicole, don't need to be educated.

We all know that there are millions of well educated women in the world that would never lower themselves to the level of these celebrity sluts. As Mr. Right mentions.

What a life!
These babes pass on before becoming old, decrepit, poor, and without having had to fulfill parental responsbilities. Sex, Drugs, & Rock&roll to an early death!

Doug, my man, a girl doesn't need to go past the 8th grade if all she wants out of life is to catch A Man, then cook, clean, service and wait upon him, provide him with children and rear them for him. All she needs to learn after Grade 8 is how to drive. And strict orders never to drive to any shoe stores. See, I can mock other peoples' choices, too! Ain't I clever?

Lily
Do you mean those homeschoolers that statistically do better on standardized tests than the average public schoolers? Or do you mean the homeschoolers who aren't allowed to read biographies of Britney Spears for book reports, but must instead read something from the list of Newbery Medal winners? Or those who want to learn the true history of the US and not the politically correct version? Or perhaps it is the homeschoolers who are allowed to learn about both creation and evolution and not prohibitted from learning both sides of a controversial subject? Yes,Lily, you must be right. Those homeschooling parents are a disaster, too. They actually have the nerve to tell their sons/daughters that they have spelled a word incorrectly withour giving any thought to the poor children's self esteem.
I really do think I know what your real problem with homeschoolers is-- they are the new revolutionaries and they are the rebels who will not drink the koolaid that public education is capable of dishing out. (* my apologies to public school teachers out there-- I do recognize that there still are some excellent teachers in public schools teaching worthy classes).

correction
without, not withour

AudiR10
I really can't figure you out. I generally like your posts and you seem generally levelheaded on many topics. What in the world is your problem with a woman getting married and living a life of service and self-sacrifice for the sake of her family?

You're cold man...
So, instead of offering some legalistic and graceless judgmental blast towards those babes who are following (or wallowing) in Anna Nicole’s path...
You simply offer it to ANS herself who's not even in the ground yet.
To quote Dennis Prager: "She is a creature of God who deserves the same sympathy as all other creatures of God".
Yes, she lived al those things you stated in your 8 ways to not be a loser diatribe, but she really lived and died because no one loved her enough to say ENOUGH! That is the real sin here. We should not look at her life and act like the rich man who thanked God that he was not like all the other sinners, but rather be grateful if we have been blessed with the love of responsible parents, a dear friend, a caring church community.
There but for the Grace of God go I(or you or your daughter or son)should be the lesson of her life and meaning of her death.

Great job Doug
You sure nailed Anna and the many others like her.
You mention "today's ladies." any idea where someone could find a real "lady"

To AudiR10
LOL, how easy it is to forget. I love the old songs like that one. How about the rockin' chair?

Anyway, if you look like ANS you probably don't need a HS diploma; all you need is a lack of self-respect and morals. The sad thing is there are a lot more girls out there trying to act like her and who do not have the looks or the connections. There are a lot more "bad guys" than there are 80 year old millionaires.

A thought on funerals
Chuckling to myself here about the comments made and the news reports.
When I think of Anna Nicole I think of the awards show where she was so stoned it was ridiculous. I think of the sound bites she has given to talk radio. I think of the baby left behind that will now be left for the world to raise into who knows what.
Then I think back to a funeral I went to several years ago. The man a coworker had a church full of people. They did not remember things like Anna will be remembered for. They remembered his giving to the community, his family, and his friends. He helped coach youth sports and shared life thoughts with them. In fact last year I spoke with a former coworker up in Minnesota about the funeral. We agreed looking at the respect and love for this man probably had a bigger effect on the kids than all the preaching in the world. It did on us and we are old.
There will always be a few Anna Nicoles in the world. You will never avoid it. The problem is to accentuate the negatives they brought to the world.
The youth of this world learn more by example than preaching. So best way to help them is to Walk the Talk.

This is what we glorify.
The sad thing is that in our society people who are on TV/magazines/news are the ones kids look up to. It doesn't matter why they're 'famous', just that they are. They have the money, they have the looks, they have the fun. Or so we're told. So they die young. So what? Kids are taught that life has no meaning and that they're nothing but animals anyway, with no soul and nothing after death. So why not have all that fun while you can? And if you die young you'll be even more famous.

Whatever that means.

The author was as disgusted as I was
with A N SMITHS corrupted public lifesyle and even more outraged at all the pathetic fools in her "FAN CLUBS" infecting the internet postings, that range from calling her lifestyle a "role model" TO condemning any one who tells the truth about her with the "RIP" philosophy!

Mr Right,
Why don't you know who Raven is, and why don't you know anything about her? Or America? Why don't you know about Dennis Quaid's work? Why do you know about Hilary Duff's weight loss and hideous appearance but not about how much she gave to help the victims of Katrina? All the above have had more commercial success than ANS. And why do you know so much about ANS, not a has-been but a never-was?

It's because of people like Giles who fixate on the bad.

to Dave
You do have a point. We obviously need to reject/ignore those who engage in outrageous behavior, and discourage our children from looking at them as anything but pathetic. For some reason, as a society, we fixate on those whose entire claim to fame is an insatiable need for attention.

Those celebrities who quietly go about doing good for others do not do it for our attention, but it is what their character dictates. Regular everyday folks do the same thing all the time. Instead of pointing to celebs, we need to point out to our children all of those people within our communities who are giving of their time, treasure and talent on a day to day basis. And, most of all, each of us must be the kind of person who sets an appropriate example for his/her own children. Values are caught and not taught.

Mr. Right, I beg to differ. While in Hollywood terms, Dennis Quaid might not be hot.....but in physical terms....oooooo la la.

ANS
Thanks, Doug....Reading your articles always make me smile. Love your lingo...you say it as I can not!

Mildred Pierce
I prefer the model provided by the "Greatest Generation," Mildred Pierce.

Those of us over 50....

...perhaps lament this obvious coarsening of our culture. However, once our kids reach adulthood they seem to have their heads on straight. While it is true that they are bombarded by more cr*p than we once were, this seems to insure that they have good BS filters installed by the time they are ready to leave puberty behind. My own daughter basically ignores people like ANS. I agree that her story is ubiquitous at the moment, but this too shall pass.

Since I watch very little TV, I was not at all familiar with this person. Now that I have seen some news reports about her death, I question why she was so popular. To watch her is to see someone vamping for cameras, but I find her face, and especially her phony smile, unattractive. So I suppose I just don't get it.

Sad...
Ruth Bell Graham, wife of evangelist Billy Graham, has a great quote from her book "It's My Turn":

"No person on earth is completely unnecessary. One can always serve as a bad example".

Anna Nicole Smith was a bad example. She was a tragedy, and my homeschooled daughters look to her and her heir-apparents Britney, Lindsay and Paris and shake their heads with sadness. All 4 of these women are bad examples, and that is a shame. I look at them and thank God my daughters do not resemble them in any way, shape or form!

Anna is gone, God rest her soul. As a mom, I wish I could take Britney, Lindsay and Paris into my home and show them some tough love and set down some boundaries so they could learn to function like normal human beings, not celebrities who live in a fantasy world - until reality hits them like a 2-ton boulder.

These women are so desperate for attention and will go to any lengths to get it. That is horrific. Neither of these women had good upbringings. Divorce, fame and money at a young age, partying parents, or parents so rich they hired others to care for their own children. No wonder their lives are such a mess and fodder for the tabloids.

It doesn't help that we as a society love to watch these train wrecks unfold, point and laugh and say "what are these stupid girls thinking?!?!?".

As a mom with daughters the same age, my heart breaks for Britney, Lindsay and Paris. They are so screwed up, yet have forsaken their own souls for what the world has to offer them. Doesn't seem like a very fair trade when you look at them now.

Wrong again
You want to fix what's wrong, quit conceding to the enemy...

"it seems as if today’s ladies would rather be known for no panties, making out with their girlfriends at Coyote Ugly, snot slinging drunkenness and having their college orgies broadcast on YouTube."

WRONG. "Ladies" NEVER want any of those things. If they want those things, they are not "Ladies". Lady is NOT, and has NEVER BEEN a synonym for "has female genitalia."

We stop building ladies when we tore down the lady factories. Home-Ec is no longer required or even expected of female students. Poise, grace, and other feminine virtues are neither taught in schools or by elders. Dad wants his little girl to be a slugger, Mom wants her to be Dad. She's allowed to choose her own dressing style (sans what might be considered a 'dress'), her own behavior model (at a guess, 80% of the time "boy", 20% of the time "sl*t".)to deface her body with tattoos and piercings.... and you JERKS still refer to her as "lady".

A co-worker's 19-year-old live-in girlfriend recently had a child (paid for by a local tribe, and by taxpayers). My boss, in the course of relaying the sex of the infant, said, "...well, as long as it has the right number of limbs" to which I jokingly replied, "It's a girl; obviously it doesn't." His response was, "(laugh) That's the most misogynistic statement ever made."

I have to wonder, "Why?" We used to want sons in this country. You would think with 51+% of the population female, that males would be at least *slightly* more in demand, especially among males. Of course not. Female children are just more females to give attention to Dad, whereas male children are nothing but competition for that attention. That's the adolescent, if unconscious, mindset of many of today's males.

Calling a tail a leg doesn't make the name fit, and calling a sl*t a lady doesn't make that term fit, either.

btw
An aside, *another* co-worker gave the father of the newborn a check for $500 (or about two-week's net pay) "for the baby". Yeah, that's how we'll rebuild a moral society, by treating immoral behavior no differently than moral behavior.

Remembering My Dad
When I was very young my Dad told me that there were many women in the world but not all were ladies. He said that he intended to raise a lady. I have remembered this all my life. My love and respect for him has influenced me and I like to think that he succeeded. I never wanted to disappoint him. Young people need some to look up to, admire and respect. I thank God I had the Dad I did.

Dave
I don't disagree with you. But it's not fair to say that Giles fixates on the bad. He and others like him do point out that what ANS was doing with her life was, to put it in the most charitable terms, a series of bad choices. But the media as a whole is guilty of constantly feeding us the ANS, the Britney gone bad, the girls gone wild stuff and they don't tell us about the good. The closest they come to talking about good works is when Bon Jovi does something for AIDS. Even that is an agenda-driven story.

Yesterday it was all over the news - and this was news shows, not some entertainment show, that Britney had cut off her hair. Why is that news? The most any of the newscasters said, that I heard, was that she's gone a little crazy lately. I'd rather hear Giles lambaste her for abandoning her two children and acting like a common trollop (he said euphemistically).

And then I'd really rather hear news stories on the news about Quaid, America, Raven, etc. But that's not what we're getting.

Dave
How about starting a "celebrity bimbo death pool".where one could choose their candidate for the next bimbo to off herself. It can't be death by old age or a tragic accident such as a plane crash but rather a death brought on by self destructive behaviour, such as drunk driving or drug overdose etc.. etc... I choose Brittny Spears as the next bimbo from hell to off herself, my runner up choice would be paris hilton.

Animal House
Great article. My first reaction to ANS’ death was a shrug of the shoulders. Then I disbelieved continued reports of EMT’s and hotel staff “rushing to her aid.” Seriously, did anyone really "rush" to the scene, or do you think they kind of strolled over once the emergency call was placed, and maybe even hit the hotel snack bar on the way? Then I felt a guilty but honest pang of relief that there was one fewer reason for rest of the world to hate America so intensely.

The whole episode keeps reminding me of the Animal House quote (from Dean Wormer to Kent Dorfman): “Fat, drunk, and stupid is no way to go through life, son.”

my 2 cents
For the most part you people take much delight in kicking people when they are down. If they are dead so much the better.

The woman is dead. She had a sad life and she was the unwitting buffoon in a lot of silly plays and because of whatever reason she became a national laughingstock, convenient for anyone to take a swat at no matter his or her stripe.

"Judge not lest ye be judged."

"He/she among you who is without sin, let him/her cast the first stone."

Those among you with a belief in God please pray for the repose of her soul, because there is nothing more she can do - it's up to us.

The rest of you - let the hate fest start up again.

The woman is dead

Uncle Max

I read many of your posts, and most of the time you seem sensible. I take exception here, however. Just how exactly is it "up to us" to secure this woman's place in Eternity now that she is dead? I really would be interested in your answer.

In addition, while I am trying to refrain from "judging", I believe you are going in the opposite direction here. ANS lived her life with specific goals in mind, all of which she achieved, including her death at age 39. You make her sound like a marionette on strings. Although she appeared of below average intelligence, she was not, apparently, mentally retarded. An IQ of probably somewhere around 75 or 80. If she was "used", and it would appear that she certainly was, it was HER choice, and HER responsiblity. She paid the ultimate price for her own stupidity, and it is now too late to "save her soul".

You need to go over and stand in the corner with Kimberly and Loyal Democrat on this one.

sdan
First off, Uncle Max is always pretty sensible. He didNT say "it was up to us to secure this womans place in Eternity now that she is dead."

He did say:
"Those among you with a belief in God please pray for the repose of her soul, because there is nothing more she can do - it's up to us."

Simple standard Catholic belief in the value of praying for the souls of the dead. You may disagree with this - as no doubt you from the tone with which you deal with it - fine. I wont go into the theology of it with you, because the tone in which you ask indicates that you have in fact NO interest whatSOEVER in ANY "answer" Uncle Max would make.

Rather, the rest of your post indicates your contempt for this suggestion, by which you conclude Uncle Max should be "standing in the corner with K and LD." Pathetic.

Whether you agree with the view he expressed or not, which you HAVE already misrepresented, the fact is that his main point IS valid. The woman IS dead. Why then speak ill of her now? Nor did Uncle Max make her sound like a "marionette" - except to YOUR ears.

Whether people are USED or not, has little to to do with IO but everything to do with their emotional SECURITY. Often influenced by how they were treated as children, and the needs they had then which were not met by their parents.

Final point. You say you are "trying to refrain from "judging". You THEN conclude that SAME paragraph with the following; "It is now too late to "save her soul.""

My God. How judgemental is THAT? When you go to your maker, I hope ANS is standing there with St. Peter, and on HER word, as one JUDGED by YOU, will YOUR "eternity" depend. And if God has a sense of humour, that is what He will do, in His Infinite Wisdom.

By the way, how do YOU know that her soul isNT saved?? Are YOU God????????????????

Uncle Max, your post is pompous
I am personally offended by your statements. I made not one reference to ANS in my post and you sweep me along with the "rest of you" statement. I have never felt anything but pity for that poor woman, and for your information, I do pray for her soul. I do not feel she ever did anything to deserve eternal damnation. Not being God, I have no way of knowing, of course.

You could have come across a little less self-righteous, and that would have been enough to give people pause about whether or not they were being judgmental. However, you came in with all the grace of a bull in a china shop. I am surprised at you because you are usually so much better than that.

anna nicole, of course
I've noted a couple comments on here that I've heard made by news commentators, too, such as, Anna Nicole was unloved and no one tried to stop her from destroying herself but, she was an ADULT who according to those who knew her, did exactly what she wanted to do and would listen to no one, including her own mother who disapproved of her lifestyle. She seemed to cling to Howard K. Stern though, probably because he didn't try to save her from herself which would have interfered with her lifelong goal of being like Marilyn Monroe who was a drug abusing, self absorbed individual who garnered fame as a sex symbol and whose life ended prematurely... that's who Smith idolized and copied so, having accomplished that makes Anna Nicole Smith a woman who lived out her dreams and will be remembered for being famous at wanting to be famous (an original goal if ever there was one).
What sickens me about Anna Nicole Smith, is that after her son died, she purchased a burial plot beside his, picked out a coffin for herself, ordered a custom designed funeral dress and left instructions for her funeral but, forgot one important thing...her NEWBORN DAUGHTER! She was contemplating suicide as evidenced by her preparatory actions for her demise, her grand exit from the stage of life, proving just how selfish a woman she was and as someone who was an abandoned baby myself, I can tell you this will be the most horrible thing her daughter can ever learn about her. Just my 2 cents on this ongoing saga of sorrow.

Thanks for your insights. It is not I who have raised the issues being discussed here. How then can I be accused of "speaking ill of the dead"? The whole business about "judging" is just plain silly. You are making your own judgments left and right.

No, I am not a Roman Catholic, but I have been studying the Scriptures for over fifty years and I can find no reference to anyone "being saved" AFTER they are dead. Just the opposite, in actual fact. The cut-off line IS death.

And then there are all those references which indicate "by their fruits you shall know them". This person lived an (apparently) very public life. From what I could see, she never gave any indication that she had contemplated, let alone accepted or valued, any code of ethics, belief, or personal responsibility.

Your reference to "emotional SECURITY" is typical secular humanist drivel. Would you like to hear about what I endured as a child? I think not. However, from all I have seen and read about ANS, my beginnings were worse than hers. This does not, however, give me license to "act the fool".

On the contrary, it is all the more vital that persons such as myself and other abused children learn to deal with the realities of the adult world in a forthright, sensible, and stable manner. ESPECIALLY when we ourselves take on the role of parent. A deep, abiding, and well thought-out faith can help in this regard.

Now -- why not let Uncle Max speak for himself?

sdan
sdan: " How then can I be accused of "speaking ill of the dead"?"

First off, I never "accused" you of speaking "ill of the dead." I was referring to Uncle Max's post, which was written beFORE yours, so that doesnt apply. Stop accusing me of what I NEVER accused you of in the first place.

sdan: "The whole business about "judging" is just plain silly."

Because you SAY so doesnt MAKE it so.

sdan: "You are making your own judgments left and right."

Of course I am. So what? Everyone HAS to make "judgements." But I do NOT judge anOTHER PERSON. I may judge their ACTIONS. Different thing. And the fact is that you have set yourSELF up as ANS's judge and jury, by stating EXPLICITLY that "it is now too late to save HER soul."

That has to be the SINGLE most judgemental sentence I have ever read. And I asked you a simple question. How do YOU KNOW? You CANT know. Nobody knows. ONLY God.

Regarding your lifelong study of scripture; I will refer you to 2nd Machabees 12:46:
"It is a holy and a wholesome thought to pray for the dead, that they may be loosed from sins."

Now if they were already damned, this would be a total waste of time. If they are already completely saved, likewise. So... open you mind to the possibility that GOD's economy of salvation - NOT yours - may be FAR larger than you can now believe it to be.

Additionally, Catholics do NOT believe that the WHOLE of the message of salvation is contained in Scriptures. You believe in Scripture alone. Fine. But Catholics believe in Scripture AND Tradition.

John 21: 25: "Jesus did many other things as well. If every one of them were written down, I suppose that even the whole world would not have room for the books that would be written."

In other words, the Scriptures themSELVES tell us that they are incomplete.

By declaring your belief in her eternal damnation, you are limiting both God's love, and God's mercy. I am NOT stating that she is EITHER saved or damned. I dont KNOW. But I HOPE God found SOME way to reach her.

sdan: "Your reference to "emotional SECURITY" is typical secular humanist drivel. Would you like to hear about what I endured as a child? I think not."

Have you noticed how you dismiss with contempt ANY belief or opinion that doesNT coincide with your own?? LOL!

Uncle Max was doing pretty well in your eyes until he let poor ANS off the hook. And then!! "Typical humanist drivel"?? Again, because you SAY something is "drivel" doesnt MAKE it so.

sdan: "Would you like to hear about what I endured as a child? I think not."

Of COURSE what you endured as a child HAS affected you! How could it not? Perhaps you learned to deal with it or handle it or whatever. Fine. Good for you. But there are MANY who cannot.

Ask yourself one question. If YOU had faced the temptations that ANS had faced, and had HER particular weaknesses - both of character and background - how would YOU have done? NOTHING in her background could have prepared her for the surreal world in which she ultimately found herself. She didnt set out to find herself where she ended up.

By way of analogy, if you had Elvis Presley's charisma, looks and talent, would YOU have been able to witstand the temptations of his life? I KNOW I wouldnt have. I use this by way of analogy, because in the sense that he ultimately destroyed himself, there is a similarity, and I can identify more with a man than a woman.

Your last paragraph is one I agree with. Fully.

Regarding your last question? Yes, Uncle Max can "speak for himself" but this is a PUBLIC forum.

One final comment. I think why I have a soft spot for ANS is because when she found herself pregnant at 17, she DIDNT abort her child. Yes, she shouldnt have found herself in that positon in the first place, but that would have been a VERY "easy" solution. And yes, marrying the 16 year old father wasnt smart either, but surely, you can see that she was TRYING to do the "right thing." Anbd maybe God will say... "Good girl. Your son has saved you."

ANS
Jesus said, "No man come unto the Father but by me." Now please explain how you can imagine the Father saying, '"Good girl. Your son has saved you."' when Christ is the only Savior.

Anna Nicole Smithing By Doug Giles
The most effective treatments are painful. I believe that Giles' words are painfully true. It appears that many youth are lining up.

Maybe a few of us leader-types can heed the Giles Call and act HARD and FAST to influence the youth in our lives to take the OTHER road.

I felt the earth move under my feet as these words were wrangled out about a deceased human being. BUT, I THINK WE ALL KNOW---IT WAS ALL RIGHT ON.

What are WE going to do about it?

That's the rub right there!

whiteknuckles.. silly question.
Is not Jesus God? Is not the Holy Spirit God? Is not the Father God? Have you ever heard of the Trinity - which by the way is also - for sdan's information - "not mentioned in the bible."

I didNT say The "Father" would say. I said "God" would say.

Did not Christ Himself say "When I was hungry, you gave me food..." (Matthew 25: 31-46). Dont call this "earning" heaven, but based on the words of Christ Himself, we ARE judged on our actions. For the simple reason that "faith without works is dead (St James).

And in that context, ANS could easily be told: "I was in your womb, and you kept me alive, when to do the opposite would have been SO easy."

So your point about all being saved THROUGH Christ has NOTHING to do with anything I actually SAID. Of COURSE nobody is saved other than through Christ. But He - in His infinite mercy and compassion - MAY well be able to save in ways that are beyond YOUR understanding.

Listen, son. Christ HimSELF had FAR less difficulty with the sinners, prostitutes, drunkards - and judged them FAR less harshly - than he did with the so-called "holy" people. I can see why.

Think of all those pastors, priests, preachers, who USED the Church and the Word of God, for their OWN purposes, and for their OWN self-importance, and the scandals for which some of them are responsible.

I would FAR rather be in ANS's shoes, facing Eternal Judgement, than in ANY of theirs. And unlike my friend sDan, I am NOT claiming to know that a SINGLE one of even THEM "isnt saved."

JimmyJoe

I concede on (most) of your points. I stand humbled and corrected. I am not God, and do not wish to put myself in His position (as Judge). Thank you for kind and wise words.

I have not studied the Maccabees. It is my understanding that one's eternal fate is sealed at the moment of one's physical death.

And, although the WORD "Trinity" may not appear in the Bible, the concept is certainly there. "God is a Spirit"; the "Spirit" descended upon Jesus at his baptism; Jesus speaks often to his "Father", and tells us to do likewise when we pray; and, of course, Jesus called himself the "son" of God.

Lastly, I never thought much of Elvis. Now -- if we are talking fantasies, I would give my right leg to be Mark Knopfler. I would have to sit on a stool, of course, but to be able to play like that would be worth the trade.

I do not have any sympathy for self-absorbed and self-destructive celebrities. Plenty of them (Paul Newman, Greer Garson, Ronald Reagan, Lloyd Bridges, Pat Boone, Patricia Heaton, Bono, etc.) manage to live healthy and happy lives, are good spouses and parents, and do not succumb to the siren song of Hollywood excess.

You might have gone a little too far.
The poor girl reaped what she sowed, and for that reason, I think that we Christians would give ourselves a bad name for making fun of it. Deserved or undeserved, what happened and is continuing to happen to her is tragic. Don't gloat in the downfall of others. Show a little of the fear of God, Doug. And beware if you think you stand, lest you fall.

Didn't she get all of the best the world had to offer? Didn't she need Jesus just like the rest of us? Could she have seen Jesus in the rest of us?

She lost the one person who loved her, and even that was only by default. She died alone trying to medicate her pain. Her body rotted while the people who were supposed to care for her fought over her to get her money. No wonder the judge cried yesterday when he gave his orders.
