Dems' Health Care Plan Just Plain Sick

Was the Copenhagen Global Warming Summit Walk-Out a Win for the U.S.?

WASHINGTON -- President Obama's original plan to pay for his healthcare reforms was to limit charitable contributions and mortgage-interest payments that people can deduct from their taxable income.

But both proposals were nonstarters from the moment they reached Capitol Hill. They would raise taxes on the two sectors that we need to be encouraging, not stifling. The former would reduce charitable giving. The latter would hurt the beleaguered housing industry at a time when it needs all the incentives it can get.

So now Democratic leaders are considering yet another tax-free benefit they can tap into: employer/employee health-insurance premiums.

About 150 million Americans and the businesses they work for do not pay taxes on that part of their income that goes to pay for health care. But North Dakota Sen. Kent Conrad, the Senate Budget Committee chairman, thinks this may be the only way to finance a plan that will cost taxpayers between $1.5 trillion and $2 trillion over the next decade, and much more after that.

Lawmakers spend a lot of their time searching for the last remaining sources of untaxed income they can get their greedy hands on to spend as they see fit. They are now salivating over untaxed income that goes to pay the premiums for most of the country's insured Americans.

"Tax subsidies for health care. They're huge. Hundreds of billions of dollars a year," Conrad enthusiastically told reporters last week at the end of a Finance Committee meeting where lawmakers hashed out options to bankroll Obama's vast spending plan.

"It is hard for me to see how you have a package that is paid for that doesn't include reducing the tax subsidy for health care," Conrad said.

Organized labor would no doubt have big problems with this. In recent decades, unions have often emphasized better benefit packages, including more generous health-insurance plans, over higher wages. But it would strike at the benefits for nonunion workers, too.

Letting employers and employees deduct the cost of their health care is probably the most successful market-driven medical-care reform we've made in this country. We shouldn't be cutting back on this benefit. On the contrary, we should be giving these same tax breaks to workers whose employers do not provide them with healthcare plans.

Republicans have been proposing healthcare tax credits for years for the bulk of the uninsured. But this, of course, would also expand the private healthcare industry, which would create multiple health-insurance plans to fit every pocketbook, and that goes against everything Democrats believe in.

They want a fully government-run, government-financed, government-regulated system to create yet another entitlement constituency that they can depend on at re-election time.

While Senate Democrats are searching for ways to pay for their healthcare system, House Democrats were unveiling a plan that would require all individuals to obtain a health-insurance plan or force employers to provide such benefits for their workers.

At the heart of their proposal would be a subsidized government healthcare plan that the private health-insurance industry believes would unfairly compete with them and put many out of business.

This issue came up last week in the president's news conference, where he was asked by ABC News reporter Jake Tapper about his promise that Americans won't have to change plans when employers drop their own plans in favor of cheaper government plans.

In often tortured, defensive rhetoric, Obama replied, "What I'm saying is, the government is not going to make you change plans under health reform."

But as Tapper later pointed out in his ABC blog, it seems the president "wasn't saying 'no one' will take away any American's health insurance -- he was saying the government wouldn't.

"Which is not to say that the government wouldn't create a situation where such a thing would happen," he added. Exactly.

However, the Congressional Budget Office's preliminary estimates of a draft of the Senate Health, Education, Labor and Pensions Committee's bill suggests that millions would drop out of their private plans.

"About 10 million people would choose to obtain coverage through (government-created health insurance) exchanges rather than their employer because the subsidy they receive under the legislation makes insurance from an exchange cheaper," said a report on CBO's findings from the Senate Budget Committee's Republican staff.

"Another 10 million people would have no option but to obtain coverage through exchanges because their employers would not offer it," the staff report said.

The White House and the Democrats will deny it, of course, but critics say this is one of their devious goals: to replace for-profit, private health insurance with a government-run system financed by the taxpayers.

If you listen carefully to what the Democrats are putting together on Capitol Hill, this is exactly what they hope to eventually accomplish.

Refreshing...
... to see solid craftsmanship in a journalist. Mr. Lambro did an excellent job explaining the issues, and his analysis is spot-on.

I agree totally with Lambro's conclusion. Obama's unstated goal is to completely destroy the private healthcare marketplace. Obama wants the federal government to have a monopoly on the delivery of healthcare for every American. For a self-obsessed narcissist like Obama, what could be more intoxicating than the power of life and death over millions of Americans?

Let us all pray Obama fails miserably in his objective.

The Unspoken Benefit
Obama and his financial play-callers--like the Moneychanger, Soros, and other extremely wealthy leftists worshipping the mediocrity of collectivism (for you and me, not them)--set themselves up for great financial gain, if this abomination of government-contaminated healthcare should come to pass. And they intend to cut the national burden of their vote-buying, fool-deluding deceptions, not only by rationing medical care, but by reaping the benefit to Social Insecurity from many earlier deaths resulting from the socialized medicine comeing to us.

Instead of encouraging those who want more or better medical care to get off their butts and EARN it (what a novel idea), the enforced mediocrity will steal even more hard-earned wealth from those who create it, thus to hand it to people who have no right to it, due to not EARNING it or being here illegally. But that honest approach does not buy votes or assure the control freaks' unquenchable thirst for power, does it?

GET INVOLVED. FIGHT.

GOP out of ideas
Let's face it folks, The GOP has no solution to the health care crisis except to punish families, gouge workers, and reward unworthy and overpaid elites and predatory insurance companies.

Republicans believe that healthcare is a privelege and luxury for the wealthy and that other American citizens are less than human beings and should be turned away when in need.

Nice attititude of Christian charity there. Would Christ have turned away the poor, the meek, and the needy to worship at the altar of the rich powerful corrupt pharisees?

Since Gingrinch, Republicans have sought to block reform, and deprive Americans of health care. They have not contolled costs as promised, and even shut down our government in the 90's because of their stubborn and selfish attitude of self-righteousness.

We have seen in the last 15 years that Republicans can't keep their promises (Promise Keepers) can't govern, and can't even keep their tool in their pants. And now we are supposed to believe them on healthcare?

Sorry folks, with the moral decadence and gross hypocracy of Republican Leadership from Ensign to Craig to Foley to Vitter to Haggard and Sanford and Gingrinch, Republicans have cheated their own supporters, abused and misused GOP funds for sex vacations, and traded morality for unprincipled expediance. Not good enough.

As Americans we can and should expect better from our politicians.

The Healthcare Crisis
There is no healthcare crisis. The Obama Administration is all about control. To gain control, there must be a crisis. A self-made crisis.

Rahm Emanuel said "never let a good crisis go to waste." Everything must be made to look like a crisis which no one can solve except Dear Leader.

There really is a crisis, though. It is the Obama Administration and their lust for power. If he is not stopped,we will be a Third World Nation.

What if it's made mandatory that all ...
office-holders or employees at every level of government have to rely exclusively on whatever healthcare bill is passed? Get a government paycheck? Get in line for all personal and family care, without preferential or extraordinary service. Maybe there would be fewer Obamacare supporters in congress, the senate, and civil services.

I can solve the health care
crisis with $86 billion dollars, cheap for the price when you look at the TRILLIONS the CBO says the King Elect O plan will cost MINIMALLY.

The costs for 2009 for emergency room care for the uninsured was $1658 a person or $86 billion.

JUST pay or give tax credits to the uninsured for $1600 per person per year.

Other stats: They “say” c. 46,000,000 lack health insurance:**

1) 70% of the uninsured are between ins.’s and do not lack coverage for a year.
2) 20% are illegals**
3) 10% are chronically unemployable** or homeless,** or otherwise MIA socially;

Of the above:
33% live in households earning over at least $50,000 a year and elect not to buy ins.
25% are between 18 and 35 and deliberately do not cover themselves. Their med. exp. average c. $1000 a year out of pocket.
34% are children eligible for Medicaid or SCHIPS, but are not registered. They can be treated for small or greater med. problems at any emergency room, which is what the uninsured usually elect to do.

The Office of the Budget predicts BEST CASE $1.6 trillion, but John McCain says that cost will be minimally $3 TRILLION.

(CBO estimation that says O's numbers for med. *reform* are well under evaluated.)

** MIT says the 46,000,000 number is actually bogus, as the 7-30,000,000 illegals (however many) will not be covered by any plan, and the homeless number is very high as it has never come in above 3 million in any real count.

All You Need to Know
Embedded deep within the bowels of the health care bill is a provision exempting all members of Congress from the plan. 'Nuff said.

First
Well, those protesters in the picture accompanying this article look pretty healthy, wouldn'tcha say?

What morality to you subscribe to that demands I pay for your medical care? Or that you pay for mine?

Must be in Third Timothy...
First,
I've not been able to find that reference where Jesus told us that health care was to be provided by the state, and that tax money seized by the government was charitable giving. Was it in the 'Gospel according to Saint Barak', 'Third Timothy' or 'The Revelation of Saint Alensky'?

As Christians, we are not to let the state provide by force what we are to give by our own free will.

Are we not our brother's keeper? Would Christ exort us to turn away the sick, the poor, the widow, the homeless, the elderly? Christians hav a moral responsibility to resist greed and selfishness- and be more Christ-like in being generous, loving, compassionate and kind to those who may not share the fortunes and wealth we have been given.

I'm afraid Christian charity alone is not enough to care for the needs of the citizens so the state must collect taxes as a necessary instrument to prevent needless suffering and hardship of those less wealthy and fortunate than ourselves.
Christ told us to render to Ceaser what was Ceasers and to God what was Gods. I understand that to mean that the necessary functioning of a state and government of good men requires money which also requires taxes so I don't see any problem with it conceptually.

While it would be nice if no one ever had to pay a dime of taxes and could enjoy all the fruits and benefits of civilization...I have yet to see how that can be done in the real world. Until you or some one else can figure out how to do that, taxes seem to be the price we must pay for civilization.

The REAL Healthcare Plan
Journalist Files Charges against WHO and UN for Bioterrorism and Intent to Commit Mass Murder

As the anticipated July release date for Baxter’s A/H1N1 flu pandemic vaccine approaches, an Austrian investigative journalist is warning the world that the greatest crime in the history of humanity is underway. Jane Burgermeister has recently filed criminal charges with the FBI against the World Health Organization (WHO), the United Nations (UN), and several of the highest ranking government and corporate officials concerning bioterrorism and attempts to commit mass murder. She has also prepared an injunction against forced vaccination which is being filed in America. These actions follow her charges filed in April against Baxter AG and Avir Green Hills Biotechnology of Austria for producing contaminated bird flu vaccine, alleging this was a deliberate act to cause and profit from a pandemic.

O Macabre
"President Obama suggested at a town hall event Wednesday night that one way to shave medical costs is to stop expensive and ultimately futile procedures performed on people who are about to die and don't stand to gain from the extra care."
-- Peter Nicholas, Los Angeles Times

As we have seen
with the bait and switch regarding TARP and other promises that Obama has made, it matters not what kind of guarantees are offered up in the beginning.

Once this government gets control of our health care, you better know they are going to do as they please, all former promises be d@mned!

Only a fool gives away his power!!

Surge capacity
Surge capacity theory
Definition:
http://pdm.medicine.wisc.edu/23-2%20PDFs/dayton.pdf

"Surge capacity is defined as a healthcare system’s ability to rapidly expand beyond normal services to meet the increased demand for appropriate space, qualified personnel, medical care, and public health in the event of bioterrorism, disaster, or other large-scale, public health emergencies."

After Obama care and democrats destroy the national health care system, Surge capacity theory will be the rationale for health care rationing. During Hurricane Katrina hospitals had to choose between patients when rendering care. When Obama care lowers "the patient load capacity" of our health care system choices will start being made. Under Obama care, health care crisis will become the standard. And, Surge capacity theory will become the health care management norm.

The tale of two countries
In 2007 the Canadian population was 33 million:
http://www93.wolframalpha.com/input/?i=population+of+canada

In 2007 the US population was 306 million:
http://www93.wolframalpha.com/input/?i=population+of+united +states

How many Mexican immigrants are serviced by the Canadian universal health care? Estimates are 12 millions illegal Mexican immigrants are serviced by the US health system:

http://www.usatoday.com/news/washington/2008-01-21-immigran t-healthcare_N.htm

Is it a reasonable probability that universal health care in the US will have many more financial issues than the Canadian universal health care system because of the differences in the populations that will be served by the two systems?

How govt can cut costs
We the people pay all taxes, and we are the only ultimate source of all tax revenue. Regardless where government initially collects it, all tax money ultimately comes from us, the people.
Since we the people are the one and only source of all tax revenue:
There should be only one tax to collect all tax revenue.
It should be a single, simple, fair, direct, graduated, individual, full-income tax levied on living persons for each level of government: One Tax and Done.
You cannot convince a person or corporation to start a new business or expand an existing business, increase jobs, and hire new employees, when you tax away the capitol he is using to operate his PRESENT business
The best thing that government can do to help the country, the people, and even government, is to repeal all of the many hundreds, or thousands of existing taxes, fees, and charges. These taxes are the federal deficit. These taxes are the high price of everything. These tax eliminations are spending cuts. Every tax that is eliminated is a tax that we the people no longer have to pay. These taxes are the difference between the price we pay for health care and everything else, and the price we would pay if these taxes were repealed. Eliminating these taxes will remove them from the price paid for everything by everyone.
One Tax and Done will provide many benefits to all, even government:
One Tax and Done will reduce the price paid for everything by one-third.

Exemptions
According to what Rush said yesterday, on page 114 of the health care bill, government officials are exempt from having to be under this health care proposal. Union members are exempt from paying taxes on their health benefits. I've written several times to my Senators (Dodd and Lieberman) and to my Congressman (Himes) as well as to the White House telling them to get out of my life and start being concerned with this country's defense and caring for our military's safety and protecting our borders. Dodd, Lieberman, and Himes responded with form letters which meant nothing. Obviously, Obama didn't respond. I also suggested that if this health care bill is so great, then elected officials and government workers and the "fictitional" 45 million uninsured should try it first for 2 years, and then let the rest of us know how it's working. Then maybe we would consider it. You can imagine the lack of response for that.

Ron, fantastic taxation idea

The only thing bad about the
Dems health plan is that it didn't go far enough.

They have had to kiss too many butts to get
what really needs to be done.

NEWS FLASH
MY OPINIONS ONLY: (Sorry, Townhall, but I have to mention another site I read this morning; The
New Media Journal) They had a powerful article
about Reid and the health care bill. Reid admits they didn't have enough time to read /
review it, but it's supposed to be heard next
week. Nice, huh? Same with another bill.
With Reid in the Senate, Pelosi in the House,
both of whom, I feel, abuse their power. Look at Pelosi on the Oil Drilling. "They they they
will have to figure a way to get a vote." (or
words meaning such. VERY DEMOCRATIC! Then comes up with a meeting (GOP excluded) at 10 pm,
gives the "bill" to them early the next day, not
going thru committees, and demands a vote in 24
hours. WHOA! I Believe that smacks of dictatorship, not Democracy! REID IS CUT FROM THE SAME CLOTH. Seems (with FEW exceptions) the
whole Democratic party is!
I'm 75, hubby 80, with health problems. Daschle says we will just have to learn to accept the complications of aging, rather than treating them. We're retired military, lied to for over 20 years (at every re-enlistment) that
my hubby would have med. care for us for the rest of our lives..free, except we pay for Medicare. He just shot our "med.'insurance' in the head with THAT statement.

DICTATORSHIP/DEMOCRATS??
My opinions only: While Congress is trying to push us into Socialized or triage type health care, THE CONGRESS AND PRESIDENT HAVE A SELF-VOTED MED. PLAN COVERING THEM AND FAMILIES, WITH LITTLE 'CO-PAY' FOR LIFE!!!! SELF-VOTED! And they don't have to serve 20 or more years to get it, as we military were promised at every re-enlistment!!!
You think they give a tinker's darn abour YOUR or YOUR FAMILY'S health? LOL. We're being had! The New Media Journal TODAY has a great piece on Reid/Health Care. He admits they don't have time to review/read the massive thing, but will have to vote on it..maybe next
week. What a way to run a government! 'DON'T READ IT, JUST SIGN IT!' And some of those Dems are dumb enough they'd buy a used auto under those conditions!!!!
They just opened 24 NEW gov't offices for
GLOBAL Women's health. (What about YOUR grand-
mother?) They spend millions for trees in other
countries, but some of our forests are tinder-
boxes due to diseased killed trees.
THESE PEOPLE SEEMS TO BE GLOBALLY MINDED (and
directed?) RATHER THAN US CONSTITUENTS WHO VOTED
THEM IN (with/without voter-fraud registration?)
They couldn't even account for $9 BILLION of the stimulus bill, and that pork wasn't even itemized (but YOUR taxes have to be, lol!)
If Daschle is an example of their mindset, we
seniors should learn to live with the complications of aging instead of treating them.
Is that what YOU want for YOUR parents/grand-
parents? THAT'S WHAT'S COMING DOWN THE TUBE TO US, PEOPLE. AND AT WARP SPEED IT'S COMING!
Having it locked-in: House, Senate, Presidency
they could care less about your calls, faxes, etc
They only need to serve one term to get the goodies.
PLEASE VOTE CAREFULLY IF THERE IS ANY MORE ELECTIONS IN 2010 or 2012.
Look up at article today on The New Media Journal. Townhall is much best, but I look at
many sites.
