Will the Dems' health care Christmas Present to America be an improvement or detriment to our health care system?

WASHINGTON -- There are two fundamentally entrenched sides in the debate over the best way to get the American economy growing again.

One is to spend nearly $1 trillion (including interest on the debt) through hundreds of federal, state and local government programs and hope the increased spending will create enough new jobs in the public and private sectors to breathe new life into the economy.

The other is to let people and businesses keep more of the money they earn through lower income tax rates to further strengthen incentives to work, spend, invest and enter risk-taking capital ventures that will produce new wealth and prosperity.

President Obama is promoting the former in the belief that nothing else can work, though he cannot point to a single instance where government spending lifted an economy out of a recession.

Republicans, supply-side tax cutters and free-enterprise economists support the latter approach, and can point to examples where it has worked every time it has been tried.

The American people, God bless them, believe the tax-cutting approach would be far more successful in turning the economy around than giving government bureaucrats hundreds of billions of dollars to spend on the agencies they work for and thus swell the size and cost of government and feather their own nest.

That's what the Pew Research Center for the People & the Press found out in a recent poll of more than 1,300 Americans.

"In principle, more Americans say that tax cuts for individuals and businesses -- rather than spending on programs and infrastructure projects -- will do more right now to stimulate the economy and create jobs," according to Pew.

"Nearly half (48 percent) say tax cuts will do more for the economy, while 39 percent views government spending as more effective," the polling organization said. Notably, Democrats are narrowly split on the issue, with 41 percent for tax cuts and 47 percent for spending.

President Obama, take note.

As I have reported in previous columns, public support for the $800 billion stimulus-spending package has fallen. Despite the full-court press by the Obama administration, its powerful campaign apparatus and assorted special-interest groups, more Americans are now in the tax-cut camp even though the president maintains they do not work.

Here's what Obama said in last week's White House news conference:

"But as we've learned very clearly and conclusively over the last eight years, tax cuts alone can't solve all of our economic problems -- especially tax cuts that are targeted to the wealthiest few Americans. We have tried that strategy time and time again, and it's only helped lead us to the crisis we face right now," he said.

President Obama is wrong. In fact, there have been three times that sweeping income tax cuts have been enacted in the past 50 years to revive the economy in the face of economic slowdowns or recessions, and they have worked every time.

"We have indeed cut taxes 'time and time again,' and economic history proves that it works," says Republican economic strategist Cesar Conda in an analysis for Politico.com.

There were the tax-rate cuts under President Kennedy in 1963 and President Reagan in 1981. In "both cases, the economy boomed, private-sector jobs were created, and the so-called 'wealthy' ended up paying a higher share of the total tax burden," Conda said.

And let's not forget the incredibly well-timed across-the-board tax cuts and the reduced rates on capital gains and dividends under President Bush in 2001. They helped the economy come out of the dot-com decline and weather the economic storm that followed the Sept. 11 terrorist attacks. They resulted in six years of modest yet uninterrupted economic growth and the creation of 8 million new private-sector jobs before the subprime-mortgage calamity triggered the current recession.

Obama's claim on nationwide television that tax cuts -- "especially tax cuts that are targeted to the wealthiest few Americans" -- led us into "the crisis we face right now" is preposterous on its face.

It is interesting that he has postponed raising taxes on the wealthy until the economy is out of its recession because his advisers told him that "this is no time to be raising taxes on anyone." Even the rich contribute to the economy's health and well-being.

No one is saying that tax cuts alone can put a massive $14 trillion economy back on its feet. There is a need to help the unemployed and reinforce the social safety net and strengthen other vital arteries in the nation's financial system. But we also need to unleash the market forces that have made America the most prosperous nation on Earth.

This is no time to be sucking another $1 trillion out of the economy and drying up precious investment capital that is needed for credit expansion and business rehabilitation and revival. This is also no time to be imposing wage and price controls that have never worked and that have always led to unintended consequences.

At times, it seems the administration is doing everything it can right now to prevent jobs from being created. Last week's order to rescind plans to open up oil fields in the Gulf of Mexico for further exploration and drilling killed a lot of good-paying jobs. Is this the change they're talking about?

44% of Americans approve the President's plan, while 98% of Americans don't understand economics. Problem! Every "Idiot" is talking about Reagan and tax cuts. Let us cut taxes and create jobs,so we can produce products. Do you all have newspapers in your town? This is now a "Global Economy",the old solutions are too simplistic to work in this new more sophisticated environment. Americans don't even realize that the world has been redesigned. WAKE UP. PLEASE!!!!

Past presidential economic history
Carter (D) inherited a recession and made it worse.

Reagan (R) inherited a recession and set off a 25-year growth curve.

Bush 1 (R) inherited a good economy and raised taxes, causing a recession that was over by the time he left office.

Clinton (D) inherited a fairly stable economy that was further stimulated by the Contract with America and passed along a cooling economy that entered a recession just as Bush 2 took office. He wanted to raise taxes, suggested it several times, but Congress mostly didn't allow it.

Bush 2 (R) inherited a recession, cut tax rates and stabilized the economy in a modest growth cycle for almost six years, even with the hit of 9-11 and the wars.

So far, no Dem president in our lifetime has gotten us out of a recession, but two Republican presidents have. That's an interesting history.

So, now, I wonder -- what will the stock markets do in response to the spendulous package? So far, everytime it has advanced, the market has dropped. That indicates that consumers in the earning bracket that can afford to invest are not encouraged by this package. I think maybe they think it's a bad idea that will hurt investment in the long-run.

Retired Geek Stimulus Package

Create a randomly sorted database of all citizens on welfare.

Deport all illegal aliens and create a database of where they worked (Approximately $160 billion).

Assign each person on welfare to a job that was left by an illegal alien.

Refusal to report to the job automatically and permanently drops the citizen from welfare for life.

The government would pay the business for the salary of the newly hired former welfare recipient, whether replacing a deported illegal alien or a new job creation, for six months (Approximately $166.4 billion).

Give each former welfare recipient $30,000, for expenses to relocate to the new job and incidental expenses (Approximately $480 billion).

An approximate $804 billion, deports all illegal aliens - this takes the drain off all of society - puts all welfare recipients to work.

The entire $804 billion is placed into the economy within six months and business's have money to improve, expand or hire other employees.

This would save or create 15 to 16 million jobs.

Everyone wins except the politicians.

Deficits
Some of you are being disingenuous about the Reagan and Bush deficits. Maybe you're just simpletons who can't look up the data for yourselves. Or, you're really young and don't remember the Reagan years.

Reagan cut tax rates and set off a 25-year growth trend. Some ups and downs, but really a remarkable record. He ran deficits not because of domestic spending, but because he was in a pissing contest with the USSR -- which he won. That phenomenal economic growth allowed Clinton and the Republican Congress to pay down that deficit. It helped that they didn't have to worry so much about the USSR, but a large part of it was the dismantling of the welfare system in this country through the Contract with America.

Bush also cut tax rates and that helped the economy survive 9-11. Unfortunately, wars are expensive and that explains the current deficit.

Look at the figures and you can see that in both times when tax rates were cut, tax REVENUES increased incredibly. You can't look at it in a vacuum, however. There were other things surrounding the tax-rate cuts that resulted in the deficit spending. It's simplistic, if not disingenuous, to suggest otherwise.

Rasmussen Poll
Considered the most objective polling outfit around --

The latest RR nat'l phone survey finds that 44% of U.S. voters now support the plan while 40% are opposed. A week ago, just 37% favored the legislation, and 43% were opposed. The plan is now expected to cost $789 billion (down from $826 b)

The latest data shows that support for the president is closely linked to support for the stimulus plan. Those who Strongly Approve of Obama’s job performance, 84% favor the stimulus plan, and 4% are opposed. Those who Somewhat Approve of the president’s performance, 39% favor the stimulus plan, while 30% are opposed.

Those who disapprove of the president’s performance, just 1% approve of the plan, and 91% disapprove.

Review of other firms' polling data suggests that when described as Obama’s plan, it enjoys more support. Since the plan has been developed jointly by the president and congressional Democrats, that is the way it is described in Rasmussen Reports polling.

IOW, if you're already in the tank for Mr. Obama, you think this is a fine idea. If you're skeptical or hostile, you think it's a bad one! And, you notice, the approval rating for it went up when Mr. Obama worked his rhetorical magic and went down with the CBO pointed out this would tank the economy in 3-5 years.

christianlib
I actually don't think you are a small-business owner, or else you're a consultant of some sort.

You cannot SPEND your way out of a recession. This country is in deep debt, not just as a nation, but as individuals. Many of us have run up too much credit. I thank God my brother talked my husband and I into paying down our debt, except for our house, over the last few years. It was no fun, but we're sitting better than most because of it.

You must PRODUCE your way out of debt. First, you have to stop spending. The government needs to go on a diet, not eat the cheese cake that is HR 1. Similarly, consumers need to stop touching their credit.

My friend John is a successful small businessman. I use him a lot because he has an economics degree, so understands what he's doing. His business actually grows during times of recession because people buy in bulk now and that's the sort of business he owns. Still he cut back on employees in anticipation not of loss revenue, but of higher taxes. He's building his cash reserves that took a hit during the energy price spike. If his taxes are raised, he won't hire new people and he'll just tell his customers to be patient. If his tax rates are cut, particularly with guarantees of long term, he'll want to increase production, so he'll hire more people, thereby giving better service and engendering customer loyalty.

The government produces nothing. It can only spend. It it spends on the right things, like infrastructure redevelopment, it can encourage businesses to produce something, but that's counter-productive if it's borrowing the money. That's how we got into this mess in the first place. We need to STOP SPENDING and start producing. A tax holiday followed by lower tax-rates for the long-term would do that without spending a dime and maybe it would have a slimming effect on the government that would have a good long-term effect.

Restoring science to its rightful place
In his inaugural address, the president stated that we would put science in its rightful place. To me that means basing your decisions on evidence, and not on blind faith.
Where is the evidence that that this sort of stimulus plan helps economies in the state ours is in? If there is none then this is not science, but blind faith.

DDL
60% of the cost of doing business in America is taxation, support of paying taxes and regulations. Dollar output vs salary, Americans are the single most productive people in the world. A $45,000 a year laborer puts out $150,000 in value in America. A $5,000 a year laborer in Mexico puts out $10,000 of value. The problem we face is that in Mexico or India or China, there isn't much past that $5,000 that needs to be delt with. In America, to get to that $150,000 value, the company needs to outlay $100,000, $45,000 for the labor and $55,000 for the taxes, accountants, lawyers and other regulatory garbage. This is no longer valuable.

America's work ethic and technological advantage are untouchable. Trickle down works, but only when we quit allowing career lawyers to dictate how to run businesses and actually let a free market exist, which we haven't had for nearly a centry. All of our problems are fully in the seat of socialistic government because the free market simply hasn't existed. Can't blame something that isn't there.

We can't cut taxes in a politically managed economy because it only exasperates the problem. We can't give away power to politicians to spend in it, either. The only real solution is to strip away political power and business controls. Banking is THE most heavily regulated industry in America. Not surprisingly, it was the one that failed.

Killing Job Creation
"Republicans, supply-side tax cutters and free-enterprise economists support the latter approach, and can point to examples where it has worked every time it has been tried."

Yeah, so why didn't you Lambro?

Supply side and trickle down theories died when global corporate capitalist began to accelerate offshoring blue collar jobs in the 80s, outsoucing and white collar jobs in the 90s.

No supply side, tax cut BS is going to stop or slow this trend down, there is no comparison between peasant wages and US wages. Trickle down is now gush out.

"That's what the Pew Research Center for the People & the Press found out in a recent poll of more than 1,300 Americans."

Wow..impressive, 1300 Americans, huh? Where...in the Red states??

LOL!!

When I immigrated to US first thing I found out there are NO POOR people here! Now it feels that Soviet nightmare is coming here.
Do you want to know what poor is? Try to go to live in Russia not with your dollars, try to live as any Russian on the socialistic salary in rubles.
Wait for an apartment at least 20 years after petition your request to a communist party, only 9 sq. yards allowed per member of the family.
House? Only in the village, no conveniences but outhouse,no hot water, no plumbing. Do you know what outhouse is? Try to use it in the cold winter morning after getting up of your twin size bed, where you are “comfortably” nestling with your wife. Try a pilgrim’s house, that will do!
Telephone? Ha-ha, Waite for another 20 years after you’ll get your box apt.
Small business owner? Sorry, you have to work for a country=government. Good thing, your salary will not drop below minimum wage (still have to pay taxes), and won’t exceed, sorry, top limit, just enough to hold out to the next pay day. But everybody is equal, no envy!
Savings? You don’t need those, country=government will take care of your needs. Just try do not live too long after retirement (for men is less than 59 years).
Food? You’ll get your ration cards that guarantee you government prices on 2 lb of meet and 0.5 lb of butter for a month per member of the family. Sorry about if you need an extra.
Free education? Of course, but after graduation you have to go to a place, where government will send you for 3 years, to pay off back to your country. Would like to move to a better place after? Sorry, it is impossible, you have a location stamp in your passport, can’t move.
Free medical care? After one week of care in the soviet hospital I bet you’ll beg to go to Gitmo to get your better care. Have you ever seen a “Marathon Man”? That is example soviet dental care (no joke, no even slight sarcasm).

To christianlib (continued)
Do you like socialism? Socialism was tried in my birth country, USSR, and it failed miserably. But once you built socialism it is impossible reverse the course: too good for a government.
If it is so bad here, then go to any socialist country where it is already succeeded. Did it secede anywhere? Oh, yes! Stalin’s USSR and Mao’s China, dare to question happy socialism there!!! Why won’t you take a boat and try to escape to Cuba? It’s not too far, they will welcome you there and you’ll even be a celebrity for a little while. Try equality of misery for yourself if you wish, but don’t take others who does not want it into your boat!!!
Don’t help a few demagogues, who will remain “undercover “rich with unlimited powerful, to spread socialistic misery around.

Live us, who want to enjoy the fruits of capitalism, along. Live us, who does not envy the rich, because rich make everybody else richer.
Envy of a rich? Why don’t you envy Obama, Nancy Pelosi (would not it be nice to share wealth with her, 50x50, jet too), Kennedy, Barbara Streisand, Sean Penn, Joan Kerry, Soros(did not he came from socialist Hungary to become rich and then to destroy US as we know it?) … I better stop do not exceed my limit of characters.

weird fantasy world
Lambro, and the republican position he represents, seems to live in an odd fantasy world. He describes a stimulus bill of which more than 1/3 is taxes as if it was all spending.

He says that the support for the stimulus bill is falling when even the polling outfit he sites (which is somewhat of an outlier with regard to support for the bill) says it is rising.

And he gives the Bush administration's history of a lack of job creation (he manufactures job creation by going from the bottom of the recession to the peak before the next recession when economists measure either peak to peak or valley to valley) as a case of success. While leaving out job creation under Clinton which was better than under his two most recent examples of success.

But I suppose it is good for the country for Republicans to make themselves irrelevant by inhabiting a fantasy world. As long as they are in the minority they don't do real harm. They would actually be doing more harm had they decided to work with the administration instead of throwing a tantrum and taking their ball and going home.

Fortunately we don't need their ball. They are stuck hoping that the economy remains bad through the next couple of elections. Not exactly a great place to be.

America has not had a "Free Market" since Woodrow Wilson. If you have an argument to make, start with "Facts". Please... Also, Human Beings are too "Dumb" to make Capitalism work. It has nothing to do with any President,it's the people and their combined "Stupidity"!!! Rather than trying to grasp the subject, you and others show your ignorance thereof. SADDDDDDD?

OBAMA AND HIS PUPPET MASTERS

.....DO NOT WANT A VIBRANT FREE MARKET ECONOMY ....

.....Until you grasp this fact Lambro you will be chasing fireflies in the sunshine ...

.....Saying that Obama wants Capitalism to succeed is like saying that the OJ jurors wanted justice to prevail ...wake up Lambro ...

.....This is how the economy needs to be revived ...Eliminate all corporate and business income tax ...eliminate all capital gains taxes ...replace all income tax with a fixed flat tax ...eliminate all trade barriers ...open up all US land to oil and gas development ...sell all government owned land to the States or private interests ...eliminate all government employee unions and have a National Right to work law ...repeal the Wagner Act ...

.....Do you see Obambi doing any of these things? of course not! ...so shut up and get real ...grow accustomed to wearing your chains and stop boring us with your nonsensical drivel .....COLOSSUS

Donald & Other Idiots
While you concentrate on this economy, you neglect looking at the global economy. America is no longer in a "Bubble of Isolation". Therefore, any decision making has to encompass the entire world. I could explain to you how the World has been re-organized but why? Most of you are too "Dumb" to understand simple economics,so why indulge in any attempts to understand the complicated version. Please stop, your ignorance is showing. Georgetwin, I am surprised at you but not your "Ignorance"..

Obama Fulsome about Stimulus?
Today, Robert Gibbs, Obama's press secritary, said Obama would be fulsome about the propose Fairness Doctrine revival. Fulsome is defined by the dictionary as being a suave liar. Slip of the tongue or is the Obama Administration finally being open and honest with us. I'd say he's defenitely being fulsome about the whole stimulus package.

OldSocialWorker
This is what Barry the Doper, the Sail Eared Simpleton, wants to happen. If is the old Welfare Votes Paradigm, if folks are dependent on a politician for food and shelter, they will NEVER vote against him.

lambro
since the stock market is way down also the only thing the corporations will do with a tax cut is lay people off, pay bonuses to executives and send out dividend checks to the shareholders. just like merril did with their bailout.most big corporations don't pay taxes anyway so all a tax cut will do is give them a check and create more corporate welfare. hey did you see a big jump in job creation when the bush tax cuts were initiated? and when bush got into office he made these tax cuts retroactive so that even companies who had no tax liability in previous years got a big check. thats when the looting of the treasury began.

How to create jobs
We the people pay all taxes, and we are the only ultimate source of all tax revenue. Regardless where government initially collects the money, all tax money ultimately comes from us, the people.
Since we the people are the one and only source of all tax revenue:
There should be only one tax to collect all tax revenue.
It should be a single, simple, fair, direct, graduated, individual, full-income tax levied on living persons for each level of government: One Tax and Done.
You cannot convince a person or a corporation to start a new business or expand an existing business, increase jobs, and hire new employees, when you tax away the operating capitol he is using to operate his PRESENT business
The best thing that government can do to help the country, the people, and even government, is to repeal all of the many hundreds, or thousands of existing taxes, fees, and charges. These taxes are the federal deficit. These taxes are the high price of everything. These tax eliminations are spending cuts. Every tax that is eliminated is a tax that we the people no longer have to pay. These taxes are the difference between the price we pay for health care and everything else, and the price we would pay if these taxes were repealed. Eliminating these taxes will remove them from the price paid for everything by everyone.
One Tax and Done will provide many benefits to all, even government:
One Tax and Done will reduce the price paid for everything by one-third.

Of course tax cuts work...
...that's always why Democrats are against them. A lot of Conservatives think that Democrats are just fumblers that can't seem to understand how tax cuts work. They understand full well how they work and is why they are always against them.

This stimulus bill is designed to feather the nest of Democrats and to plunge the nation further into economic troubles. This is by design, not by mistake.

There's an 800 lb. gorilla sitting atop an elephant...in the middle of the living room. Pretend they're not there if you like.

christianlib and the New Patriot Act
"christianlib," you ought to really get behind my new proposal.

Since paying taxes is patriotic (The VPOTUS says so) and since leftists are more patriotic than conservatives (read any thread at random on TH to find one of you making that claim) I am advocating a New Patriot Act.

I. All leftists (minimally defined as members of the Democrat Party, the ACLU, NARAL, NOW, Greenpeace and NAMBLA) will have all of their income, personal property, and any other asset taxed at 99%.

II. Any attempt to evade, resist, "shelter," or otherwise do less than fully comply with Section I shall be a capital offense.

I'm sure I can count on your support.

Indolent Voters
Barry pandered to millions who have wasted their days doing nothing but collecting our tax payers money. And he promised more to them.

Does anyone out there realize what this albatross intends? He is a terrorist,,,let's face facts and do what we must to save our country from demolition. Let's put the guy in Gitmo and allow him to spend the rest of his days with his comrades.

Dr. Douglas & skewed
Just a quick reminder to all that Dr. Douglas once posted that his university, Oregon State, was too poor to hire teaching assistants. In fact not only does OSU hire TAs, the TAs have their own collective bargaining unit, and the university gives a special award each year for excellence in teaching by a TA.

So, whenever Dr. Douglas says anything is skewed, consider the source.

Magic Negro Who Never Ran Anything..
A man who has never run a hot dog stand in his life, who never held a real job, other than a government job, is going to lecture the nation about economics? Where can I go to vomit?

The government is going to stimulate the economy? Ha, ha....you mean Magic Negro, your porkulus bill will stimulate government growth and GOVERNMENT JOBS, for the marginally educated and marginally motivated.

This Alinksy-ite with big ears led a priviledged life in posh, private schools, where he was waited on hand and foot since he was so "unique" being a bi-racial boy in the 1960s and 70s. Communist Frank Davis Marshall influenced him greatly as well, given his familiy's communist/anarachist leanings.

Mother was a nut-job. White grandparents were nut-jobs. Sperm donor was a communist muslim from Kenya. Step-father was a socialist muslim from Indonesia.

Yep, he really knows and understands the United States. Guess that's why he made an fool of himself in his interview on Arab television, wishing we could go back to the better time of US-Arab relations 20-30 years ago.

Say what? Does this moron even know US history? Twenty to thirty years ago, Barry Soetoro was smoking pot. No wonder he doesn't know US history.

oldsocialworker
you are someone i respect because you are sincere and honest in your posts.

i am not sure what you are objecting to but the idea that tax cuts generates job creation may work in a slight recession but not in a huge one like this.

we have two problems,(besides the banking mess which is another whole aspect) people are not spending money because of fear of losing their jobs and the unemployment has hit 5 million.

we have to get people back to work and giving tax cuts to corporations will not put people back to work.

the U.S Chamber of commerce which ususally is very supportive of republican policies has come out for the stimulus package.

that says it all.

when businesses don't trust the republican alternative you know republicans have it wrong.

christianlib is right

After the last 30 years of tax cuts favoring the rich (except briefly under Clinton), it's quite clear which side is wrong. We've tried the tax cut approach and it's failed miserably.

The Pew Poll can be easily skewed in terms of how the question is phrased. A simple look at history is much more informative. More tax cuts favoring the rich will only make the problem worse. As christianlib points out, most people will bank the tax cuts so that they will not stimulate the economy.

christian lib
Come to work with me for three days. On the third day, your awareness will raise from the dead.

its simple
i am a small business owner and if i get a tax cut it will go directly into my cash reserves that were depleted by 50% because of the bush recession.

i will not expand, i will not hire new employees.

does anyone here actually think target or home depot will re-hire people they laid off because they got a tax break.

finally, tax cuts mean less revenue and that increases the deficit which is why reagan had to raise taxes 3 times.

we have tried tax cuts
and supply side economics with reagan and bush.

reagan had to raise taxes three times to pay for the tax cuts and left office with the largest deficit in history until that time.

bush cut taxes every year and left office with the largest deficit in history.

don't tell me it has been successful because it is factually untrue that tax cuts increase revenue.

Random Thoughts
Everything is always 10 years away. That's because no one goes back that far to check the record & hold people accountable for what they say. BTW all the bad stuff global warming will cause is 10 years away too.

Does P-BO realy think people are buying this "save or create" line? I think his approval goes down every time he uses it.

Did anyone catch the "economist" from Columbia on MadCow last night. Basically he said the government had to take money from us & spend it rather than give us a tax cut because we would know the tax cut would be temporary & use the money to "pay down debt or save it". These are bad things?

Obambi
The Liberals don't want jobs or ANY wealth created by anyone other than their own "special" friends.

Pelosi, Reid, Obambi, are just doing what needs to be done to take over and make sure they can never be taken out of offece.

The CEO of Caterpillar contradicted Obambi right after he spoke at the Cat plant.

Obama said Cat would rehire all those it laid off and the CEO said no they would not.

This will put us all in perpetual debt not create jobs.

Carter
I seem to remember Carter promising that we would be energy independent in 10 years with alternative energy. Yet, 30 years later the promise is again that in 10 years we will be energy independent with alternative energy.

Obama's plan leads to ruin
It ahs always been the private sector that provides jobs and opportunities for upward mobility. Until the onset of the liberal gifts of frivolous litigation, confiscatory taxation, and outrageous regulations, I used to have wonderful contacts with metal fabrication shops, sheet matal fabricators, bakers, a candle artisan, a glass products manufacturer, and a plastics manufacturer. There were also various delis, banks, florists, electricians, hvac contractors, plumbers, etc... who would help my kids with jobs and training. That is now severely limited or entirely gone. We have increased gang activity and few employment opportunities in many of our innner cities (which includes my community)- and Obama wants this on a grand scale, and he will get it.

Many of the parents of my kids who do work are losing their jobs thanks to liberal policies and practices. Taxation is often cited as the primary problem of the self employed and private sector employees. Of course, now Hollywood, trial lawyers, and lint-for-brains college students who have never supported themselves now run the country- so we are quite squarely screwed.

This is way more than 1 Trillion
$9 Trillion Dollars we are on the line for.
http://jasonfalter.wordpress.com/2009/02/10/9-trillion-doll ars-we-are-on-the-line-for/

Obama comes across as an empty suit. He lies to everyone and says there is no pork in this bill and then lies and says it will help small business....how exactly will it help small business when it is estimated that 1/3 of 1% is actually going to help small business?
He is a liar and Obama and Pelosi and Reid have one goal and one goal only and that is to pull all the power into Washington and keep enough people dependent on the government so they keep getting voted back into office.
Obama is just a show and that is all he comes off as. He is a Cult of Personality. I mean, why do you have to request more prime time on TV for 2 Mondays in a row so tis time you can have the bill signing in prime time? He is all in it for the fame, just an empty suit. The uninformed entertainment tonight crowd are just sheep eating it up.

The Obama Syndrome and the dumbing down of America.

of investment and energy independence. The government jobs created will be a large sucking of resources for green boondoggles. He is banking on the country being stupid enough to believe him like they did in November. The problem is they will see that the dims have had the control for two years and now we can see what they will do with it. People have a lot more information than those of the 30's.
