Poll
Will the Dems' health care Christmas Present to America be an improvement or detriment to our health care system?

WASHINGTON -- Gasoline prices are flattening consumer wallets and hobbling our economy, while the Democrats sit back and play politics with the issue.

Voter surveys show that the economy and gas prices top the list of the most critical issues facing our country. A Washington Post/ABC News poll reported last week that 85 percent of voters polled said gas prices will be either extremely or very important to their vote in this year's elections. And with good reason: Americans are getting walloped with huge gas bills, while utilities, buckling under ever-higher energy prices, are raising electricity rates to historic levels.

Other industries are getting hit, too. Airlines are cutting back on flights and services as higher fuel costs eat into declining revenues. Increased trucking costs are driving up the price of nearly everything that's shipped. Tighter budgets mean consumers are cutting back on discretionary spending. Retail sales barely budged last month, even despite government tax rebates.

Part of the answer to rising oil prices is to boost domestic production. President Bush has been pressing that solution almost weekly, but to no avail among Democrats on Capitol Hill.

While Bush and the Republicans have kept up a steady drumbeat for sharply increased oil production, the Democratic majority has sat on its hands, refusing to deal with the crisis. The reason: Barack Obama and the Democrats in Congress are dead set against offshore drilling. Speaker Nancy Pelosi and Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid are more than happy to let Bush and the Republicans suffer the political consequences.

"They're running out the clock until November, to the detriment of all of us and our economy, because they think it will help them at the ballot box," said a Republican leadership official.

Last week, Bush lifted the executive ban on drilling for oil on the Outer Continental Shelf that was imposed by his father. The next step must be to end the ban by statute, but Pelosi and Reid apparently have no intention of acting on any energy bill, no matter how critical the situation becomes.

The response in Democratic cloakrooms seems to be "let Bush and Republicans turn slowly, slowly in the wind" -- an apt turn of phrase that fits into the Democrats' rigid energy orthodoxy, which supports biofuel, solar and wind, spurns oil production at home.

The Obama and Pelosi Democrats are captives of their global-warming special interests, who are dead set against drilling. Obama never mentions oil except when he attacks Bush and the Republicans as captives of the oil lobby. He is all solar panels, witchgrass and windmills. The specious argument against drilling asserts that it would have no effect on the supply or price of oil for years. Well, we may not see the full result of cancer research for many years, but that didn't mean we should have given up.

In the last decade, Republicans sent President Clinton a bill to drill for more domestic oil to make us less dependent on foreign product. We would be producing a lot more oil, and prices would be lower if it had become law, but Clinton vetoed it, and that's why we are in the mess we're in now.

Actually, it's another left-wing lie that passing a drilling bill now would have no effect on today's oil prices. Just the act of declaring a pro-production oil and gas policy would "send a message to the market and result in lower prices for oil and gas," John McCain is telling voters on the stump.

International oil traders bet on what the world's supplies will be in the future because supply determines price. Increasing oil exploration and production will drive future prices down. We saw an example of that this last week when crude oil prices on the New York Mercantile Exchange fell sharply by about $11 a barrel in two days after the Energy Department reported that commercial petroleum stocks rose the previous week.

Americans instinctively understand this common-sense axiom of supply and demand economics. That's why polls show that over 70 percent of us support drilling for more oil in wilderness areas and beneath our oceans. But our patience is coming to an end with the Obama Democrats who say no to more oil drilling, no to more refineries and no to nuclear power. Last week, the Gallup Poll said the Democratic Congress's approval rating has sunk to 14 percent. It has dropped below 20 percent only six times in the last 34, years and the Pelosi Congress accounts for four of them.

The conventional wisdom says Democrats will likely make major gains in Congress in November, but they may not do as well as expected if the voters blame them for inaction on the biggest economic issue in the country. The GOP will be hammering them on this for the rest of the election cycle.

There's a way to start digging ourselves out of this deep energy hole, and that is at the ballot box. Remember that the next time you fill up your tank.

Yeah, yeah, yeah.... so what?

McCain's just as bad on the issue as the Democrats!

Why do all you columnists give the Ghost such a pass on this issue?

Very hypocritical.

Dems seem to love $5 gal gas
BO and Dems are a captives of green lobby which will not abide the reasonable call for more drilling!!!!! We can put a man on the moon in under 10 years but can't drill and get to market offshore oil in under that time frame. There is only enough oil in ANWR to supply the US with fuel for a month?!? Pleeeeese! Where do these asinine numbers come from?

McCain seems to at least have some concern for the supply of oil and is not going around calling big oil, Bush and Republicans in general the greatest forces for evil in the world today. BDS is alive and well and BO is a true believer!

As usual BO and Dems are blowing smoke and the MSM is loving it. Don't they ever get tired of passing gas and having nothing but second hand smoke from that chain smoker BO appear?

Texas and Louisiana coasts seem to be no more polluted than California and yet there is plenty of offshore drilling going on in the Gulf. Put drillintg to a popular vote or would that man who claims he will unite us all find such a thing to democratic.

Change you can believe in? I don't believe it! Electricity and gas power this country and no amount a hot air from DC is going to change this in the near term.

The man who claimed over a year ago that the surge in Iraq would be a complete failure with an increase in violence is now telling us that we don't need anymore drilling. The man should considered a military and economic moron!

THE ISSUE
This is the issue that can make or break the economy. And McCain is talking to la raza - you're right BrianR.

I hope somebody writes about Gore's 10 yr goal. I think it could be his undoing. His plan would require eliminating airplanes. Farmers would have to use mules to plow the fields. It's not even the ballpark as far as being a rational objective.

I overstated Gore's plan
He's just talking about the oil for electrical power.

While true that the commiecrats are
largely to blame for this they could not have done it without the support of a few RINOs like McLame.

Oil is not enough
Republicans in congress need to start proposing bills that are similar to Obama's pandering "conservative" positions. Dems will not allow them to even come to the floor. When they don't, hammer them on not supporting their candidate and show that even if He is elected He can't work with his own party, let alone bring the parties together as a "uniter." Or He is shown to be moving to the center to fool people. Undecideds and independents will see this and will not be duped...maybe.

Republican candidates and
Congressional members up for reelection need to DAILY HAMMER THE DEMOCRATS ON THIS THEME!-- It's the winning message because it HITS ALL AMERICANS IN THEIR POCKETBOOKS. Obama hasn't a clue, and McCain better visit Sarah Palin in Alaska, have her give him a helicopter tour of the MINISCULE area of ANWR proposed for drilling. Then McCain can have an "I've seen the light" speech about how now that the FACTS have been presented to him, he's changed his mind. THAT AREA IS A WASTELAND, AND IT NEEDS TO BE TAPPED FOR IT'S RESOURCES. McCain was NEVER my choice, but I'll vote for him to keep the dangerous Obamacommunist out of the Oval Office.

Mom in Wisconsin

Right Minded Mom
Don't know where in Wisc. you are, but here in the third district there does not seem to BE a race against our Dem. Representative Ron Kind.

BrianR is right - this doesn't matter. Global warming is a power-grabbing hoax & the Republiwhigs & McAmnesty have signed on because power & control of the people is more important to them than safeguarding (indeed saving) the Constitutional Republic of the United States of America.

I have worked trying to get permits for domestic exploration/exploitation of oil resources. Some of the areas advertised as "available" by the Dems. (e.g. the Texas-New Mexico border area) have been tried & every time oil was found the environmental leftists used suits & pressure to lock it up.

The left's goal is clear & they have bragged about many times. They want us to stop using oil. This would be an easy issue for Republicans to exploit, but THE REPUBLIWHIGS & THEIR CANDIDATE ARE ON THE LEFT'S SIDE!

If Obama wins, maybe there will be enough conservatives left use the wreckage of the Republican party to fight him. If McCain wins, we are doomed, the corrupt Pelosi & Clinton will work with him to permanently curtail our freedom

And The Flip Side---
When the Repubs had control of the Congress and WH nothing was done and now they are complaining about the Dems. Father Bush placed the executive order that also prohibited otter shelf drilling and it lasted through mid-2008. Where was the chimp all these years? I think it was to try to ensure that oil would flow from their pals in the middle-east. Wasn't it father Bush that came home with a plane load of goodies from the towel heads near the end of his tenure? Just remember, McShame was for amnesty and no drilling before he was for them. How long must we little people put up with the trash which runs for office? A couple of answers: until their money runs out and until there are no lobbyists and any connection between Congress and sources of money.

Windmills and alternative energy...
Are you kidding. Will windmills run millions of our tractor rigs, farm machinery, lawn mowers, boats, ships, planes, army tanks and jeeps, government autos by the millions, school buses by the millions, cars older than the year 2000 by the multi millions, plastics, cabs, trains, ferrys, and on and on and on....
You alternative energy people are fn crazy.
Drill Now!!!

This is the issue...
...which could defeat the Democrats in November.

McCain and Republicans of all stripes should be holding campaign rallies at gas stations and repeating the mantra, "drill here, drill now".

GW

Who shpuld I vote AGAINST?
It is no longer a question of
“the lesser of two evils”
It has become:
“Who is the least dangerous to
the USA and the constitution?”

If McCain is on the highway to
Socialism, then B-HO is speeding
in the Express Lane!

Give him four years in power
with Pelosi and Reid behind him,
and you will no longer recognize
your own country.

You think you can take it back
After the damage is done?
Not after they destroy talk radio
With the “Fairness Doctrine”
And allow MILLIONS more
illegal aliens to vote like citizens.

Check out B-HO’s rise through ACORN
and its history of massive voter fraud in
multiple states before you trash this post.

TeeHall,
That is why the repubs shouldn't run with this issue. We had lots of time to change it, and we didn't. So how do you blame someone else all the time?.....OOOOOOOOPS.......I forgot, the repubs are now RINO, and they act just like a liberal......whine.....whine.....whine. When they had a chance to change, they blew it.
So someone would vote for a RINO again??????....
WHINE...whine.....what complete idiots.

The POTUS could make a difference here.
I'd really like to see the President just come out and make a speech to the American public about now. In it he would say that he is suspending all research on AIDS, cancer, Physics, and he is also putting a halt on infrastructure repair and improvements.

Then, as the hub-bub rises with this outrageous statement, proceed to lecture everyone in exactly the same way the Dems have been, that those things will not provide immediate solutions to our problems.

Then simply ask the question, while everyone is furiously agog that anyone would even say anything like that, "How is that different than drilling for oil here and now?"

"That's what the Democrats are doing this very moment.....hoping that you will be too dumb to see it, and vote them back in this November. They are counting on the American people to be too miserable to notice that they promised huge change two years ago, and got elected overwhelmingly on it. Then they have essentially done nothing that they promised, since then. I know that many were mad at the Republican Party for falling down when they were the majority. And I think we got the message. The Democrats have the opportunity right now to deliver the change they promised."

"If they truly want to show that bi-partisanship is their aganda, then join the Republicans in using the resources we saved back then, for just this kind of situation. Drill here. Drill now. Otherwise, you will simply be showing us that your "change we can live with" is merely the same change you've been giving us for the last two years. Higher prices and a slowing economy."

just a thought

PS IF they were to actually do that, they would win big in November. Which might be bad for the Republicans, who would lose a big pointable difference between them and the Dems. But, that would be better for all of us in the long run.

Change We Can Believe in!
The only change I can believe in is throwing Pelosi, Reid and the other obstructionist bums out on their ears! They don't want to drill? Fine, step aside and let the rest of the country drill. These elitist pigs beholden to the environmental whackos and back to the stone age crowd need to be voted out of office to "get it". Tom Dascle got tossed, why not these clowns? I say drill here, drill now and also development solar, wind, nuke and opther power sources at the same time.
Now that's change I can believe in!

Simple fix...... The...
“Democratic majority has sat on its hands, refusing to deal with the crisis.” Both this Oil problem and the Illegal Immigration problem; I do understand the Immigration thingie as they would have no one to clean the townhouse. The oil drilling is a Green thingie, one that will help destroy the economic fabric of this country. I have said time and time again that the president is a figure head and it is the Congress that runs the economy of this country. The lobby groups / big business pay to get Congress elected; and as such run the direction this country heads. High Society / Big Money has run this country for ever and it is time that the “JUST PLAIN PEOPLE” take back the country that they have paid dearly for and get it back on track, as the road it is now on is dangerous. Congress is directly responsible for the state of the economy in this country and it is time they are held accountable for what they have done. Fire each and every one of them and Vote new people into office that will run the country for everyone not just the lobby groups or “High Society”. Simple fix; get out and vote! To elect a president; write in Hillary and toss the other two Bums out! Have the Brass to use the pen yourself.

Import
If Pelosi is so worried about "global warming" she should relocate some polar bears to San Francisco and release them by the warf....plenty to eat there. The first time a tourist is gutted the "warm fuzzy" feeling about them would be about gone.
Remember...it was speaker Pelosi who whined about not being provided with a government sponsored jet capable of reaching her SF home without stopping to refuel.
I would give 50$ to see a picture of AL getting on his private jet plastered on the front of Time magazine.
It is, after all, all about them.

whining
I have never had a candidate that met all my requirements. I don't think that they make one. That being said, If you want the workers of the country to support all the programs for those that don't work, vote for BHO. If you want to chose the best candidate for the office of President, vote for McCain. It is that simple and all the other gripes and complaining about the past doesn't do any good, it can't be changed. When you vote, the change you get will be for better or worse. You could be dissappointed, I could be dissappointed. We shall see when the time comes.

DEMentia
Even though they begin with the same letter, it is the only similarity between "Liberal" and "Logic." How in the world can the Democrats believe that Republicans will be blamed for the fact that it they who refuse to end the domestic moratorium on drilling for oil?

Just as the Dems believed that their actions to end the war in Iraq in defeat through deceptive legislation, tying war funding to defeatist timetables and withdrawal conditions, would be blamed on Republicans, so too they somehow believe blocking domestic oil production will hurt the Republicans as well.

The only thing worse than this application of liberal logic is that half the nation is afflicted with the same demented perspective.

Who to vote against?
That was the question posted above.

The answer: both major parties.

I know. If we don't vote for Republicans, even if they're not conservatives, the dems will take power.

Sometimes, you have to go through Hell to get to Heaven. The answer is to vote, and don't vote for either of these unpatriotic parties.

Dems Want to Nationalize Energy
This whole green movement is a thinly veiled move by the Marxists to seize and nationalize the energy industries. They intend to squeeze the little guy and industry alike until we all beg them for a government takeover of the greedy energy producers. They cannot stand watching the huge sums of money being collected by the energy producers and they are plotting to shut them down and take them over so they can get their even greedier hands on that money.

Let's hope John Q Public can figure this through and vote the Dems out of congress this fall. Let's hope the Reps have the good sense to use this and immigration as the two issues that Americans are overwhelmingly agreed upon (over 70 percent on each). Drill now and close the boarders. It's just that easy. But will they (the Reps) find the gumption to unite on such a simple message? I am not holding my breath.

The meat of the problem….
Wow! There is a reason people keep getting re-elected to office and that is simply this, See Reply #18. This is the mindset of the majority of the uneducated people in this Nation and the Highly educated play on this fact. They went to school and went through the motions of being there however; the only thing they could pass was study hall and lunch.

You think I’m being hard on the majority of the people, you are right I am. Wake up people as you have the right to vote and the opposition is making book that you will not! We are not in this current mess because of the Democrats or the Republicans or even the Liberal Party. We are in this mess because “THEY” buy their votes and we are stupid enough to think our votes do not count. That is it in a nut shell and straight up. First you vote for whom they give you and second most of you do not even vote in the first place. You have more important things to do in your life.

Right; more important than the economy in the crapper. More important than not being able to feed your family, the least of all problems is not having a meaningful job. The job part is getting far worse because of the Gas and Economy and that brings more lay off’s.
However; our pens are broken at voting time when we have the opportunity to pencil whip the ballot. So keep whining rather than writing and things will stay the same. Want change; get a pencil! Write in Hillary or even Donald Duck and kick Congress to the curb.

TeeHall
The President DID try to do something about this many times since he's been elected. And the issue didn't exist for most of his presidency because the price of oil has only recently reached the stratosphere. Americans don't respond to anything until it's a crisis so to make the claim that the GOP could have done something is correct but fails to acknowledge the fact that when prices were low, it wasn't anyone's priority.

Freezing Dems
Will the Dem voters in the Northeast still vote for the Dems while they're freezing in their oil heated homes this winter?
How many Dems, especially blacks, are so committed to the Messiah and the Dem/socialists redistributionist message that they will never be convinced that the Dems do NOT have their interests in mind?
I'm sure Congressional Dems will come up with a "solution" that includes emergency relief to the poor, i.e. instead of taking action to lower fuel prices they will steal more money from the middle class to give to their poor constituents as "relief". Another whammy from high oil prices.

Democrats seem willing
to ruin our economy and cause voters harm in order to move the country off of oil. Their goal is laudable but their methods terrible.

We all know this country needs to use other energy sources but that is a long way off. We use so much oil on a regular and daily basis, replacing that use will never be a complete thing. We will need to use oil along with other energy sources. Wind and solar are not dependable. The fight for who will have the windmills in their backyard is going to be a long one. Don't believe liberal propaganda about goal dirtiness or nuclear power dangers. Use it all.

But, meanwhile, drill now in Anwar and offshore and don't fall for liberal propaganda that there is some kind of plot by oil companies not to drill in already leased federal lands. If there was oil instead of the expensive dry holes they have encountered, they would have drilled. They are in the business of selling oil!!! It is well known oil is in Anwar and offshore and that equipment and transportation means for the oil exploration are waiting to be used thus countering the "Oh, it would take 10 years to see any oil."

Still think this is a joke?....
You see this is good. We are worried about the "BAD WAR", “OIL”, “ECONOMY” and “ILLEAGLE IMMAGRATION” and Congress is attacking our very own Constitution from within. They have us looking one way and they are out flanking us. This is why voting is so important right here. When your own Gov. is attaching the fabric of its own country for its own personal gain it is time for a change.

This is what I am talking about: "Nancy Pelosi just said "yes" to the Fairness Doctrine that could muzzle Rush Limbaugh, Sean Hannity and other conservative radio talk show leaders.

Pelosi is now clearly on record supporting government censorship of our free speech rights. She also insinuated that The Broadcaster Freedom Act wouldn't see the light of day, and added there is strong, support for a revival of the "Fairness Doctrine."

Comparisons
You would think, with all of the readily available comparisons in the world, that it would be easy for anyone to see the difference between a state-run economy and a free economy.

North Koreans starve while South Korea thrives. Hong Kong was wealthy, while mainland China wallowed in poverty. Cubans in Havana suffer while Cubans in Miami enjoy their freedom. East Germany was a failure while West Germany prospered. In fact, you can't name ONE successful example of a state-run economy that succeeded.

The current Pelosi/Reid regime in Congress is rapidly moving us toward the North Korea, East Germany, Cuba, et. al. model. They have grabbed our economy by the tender parts and are squeezing for all they are worth. Take a look at what Mugabe did for a once prosperous Rhodesia. That's exactly where we are headed.

Enderdog @ 9:22
Beautiful.

Yep, that would defeat Obama and the Democrats.

GW

One More Time
I shall keep on hammering this theme in the hope that somebody, somewhere is paying attention:

If refiners give producers unbreakable contracts of 30 to 35 years guaranteeing $80 to $90 a barrel for ANY AND ALL crude oil and similar refineable substances PRODUCED IN THE UNITED STATES OR CONTIGUOUS STATES, OPEC as a political/extortionist force is out of business in three years. (Emphasis added as these portions are essential.)

In the past, this kind of price fixing would have raised the price of oil. At this moment, it would have the added bonus of lowering costs. God is being good to us, we should not snub Him.

A known and adequate level of income will enable short-term production expansion in known and existing fields. It will also enable drilling in neew fields, in liquifying coal, in extracting shale oil, utilizing tar sands and on and on. It will also be enough financial incentive to counter and hopefully steamroller political obstructionism.

Those who would introduce and promote legislation to this effect would benefit. If not in 2008, certainly withing two years.

What is anybody waiting for?

Economics 101
Drill here. Drill now. Starve a terrorist. Oh, and pay less, too.

The instant that this country commits to developing our own massive energy resources, OPEC will turn up the volume. We don't have to produce a drop of oil. Just the prospect will send OPEC running to boost their production to cash in before our resources go online.

Obama thinks he can win Alaska
Yeah, I'm incredulous too. Aside from the fact that we need the jobs that the oil patch he hates provides, we NEED the home heating oil that the oil patch and the unbuilt refineries should be providing. But, somehow, front page of our local section this morning, his surrogates are saying the Democrats could win the state this year. Alaska last went blue in 1964 when Lyndon Johnson swept the WH, and we regretted that decision because it gave us Mike Gravel.

Fact is, there's still A LOT of oil here, but we don't know how much because the environuts won't allow us to explore for it. The geologists, judging with the eyes of experience, say we're not at risk of running out, we just need to find and drill new fields, but hey, Prudhoe's in decline and Kuparak's not far behind, so obviously we're running out.

Thing to know -- in the last 10 years, very few Democrat Congress"men" have come to Alaska to tour the Arctic Slope. Every election cycle we get several Republicans, but hardly ever any Democrats. This is why the Republicans are more favorable to the oilpatch -- they've seen how we conduct our business and they know it isn't destroying the environment. It's called first-hand knowledge, something Democrats seem to think they don't need.

dem dumb dems
The dummocrats have been spewing this alternative energy crap for over 30 years now. My truck don't run on wind, drill now.
Obama says that he will throw sh*$loads of our money down the pit of the unworkable alternative energy plans. Drill now we need results now, not 10-30 years from now.

starman
we have been dumping sh!tloads of money into the solar, wind, and other energy holes now since Chatah was president and it hasn't gotten us anywhere relative these froms of energy being cost effective.

And as you said, windmills will not power a car.

Drilling will take too long?
Ann Coulter asked how long it will take for the Dems to get their proposed airplane off the ground--the one that is powered by wood chips. I ask if Speaker Pelosi's fancy airplane already powered by wood chips.

And yes, #1, Democrat Lite McCain Feingold is just as wrong on this issue as the real Democrats.

ALASKA & TEXAS SHOULD SECEDE

.....AURORA ...

.....The difference between Texas and Alaska is that Texas was a Republic that voted to be annexed by the USA ...therefore very little of Texas land is Federally owned and we drill pretty much wherever we please ...right now Chesapeake energy is drilling gas wells all over urban Fort Worth and even on DFW airport ...

.....Poor Alaska, on the other hand, was a Territory and most of the land was owned by the Federal Government which is why you guys are screwed today ...I am in favor of secession what about you? .....COLOSSUS

EVERY DEMOCRAT A TARGET

.....Every Democrat should have a target on his/her back this election because they have consistent voted against energy production ...

.....Every Republican candidate should have a slogan ..."Like $4 gas? ...send a thank you note to a Democrat" ...simple and to the point .....COLOSSUS

Secession for Texas and Alaska?
If you try to secede from the U. S., the troops just might force the union again. If the U. S. tries to secede from the U. N., the International Association of Dictators and Tyrants just might try the same approach.

To all you libs out there....

..........remember Pelosi and Reid had a plan before the '06 elections to deal with 2.50/gal gasoline and get us out of Iraq.

Unfortunately for everyone, their plan for gasoline didn't quite work out and for you libs, we are still in Iraq. Hey, but at least the minimum wage got raised.

Nice work, Pelosi and Reid, how anyone on the left can support you is beyond me.

Baseballdoc
That's not a bad idea. #36

Auntpittypat: That picture should be pasted on every pump whenever and whereever we fill up.

DAMN DEMS!
Running us into the ground for the last 7 years. Oh, that's right, they were the minority until the americal people finally woke up and decided that drunken sailor spending and invading forign countries for oil that we never got wasn't such a bad idea. Interesting how it's never mentioned that the Repugs have fillibustered everything that tries to get through. Just like the first bush, another Democrat will have to clean up the mess that was left by the second bush.

"DO IT ALL AND DO IT NOW"
Drill everywhere its safe, build nuclear, build solar farms, build wind turbines, build dams, make hydrogen, just supply enough energy that America is 100% secure and independent.

All You Need To Know:
'Studies by the U.S. Geological Survey (USGS) estimate that drilling in ANWR could yield up to 16 billion barrels of oil-an amount roughly equal to 30 years of oil imports from Saudi Arabia." Heritage Foundation. http://www.heritage.org/research/EnergyandEnvironment/WM27 .cfm

Enough with the can't drill your way out of this or the it'll take ten years. From Saudi Arabia we import 1.579 million barrels per day. At $131 p/brl that's $208290000

Drill in ANWR?
Saudi Arabia (1.579 million barrels per day),

Let's hope the Dems
keep it up until election time. Leave it up to them to pull defeat out of the hands of a sure victory.

If They Only Had Brains
In light of the Democreeps' intransigent opposition to increased domestic oil and natural gas production, anybody who would be stupid enough to even consider voting for them shouldn't be allowed to vote.

Not only that, they shouldn't be allowed to BREED!

Energy woes could mean Dem Oil........
Donald you are so right here. Why cave when in November they have a chance to win on a sour economy with elderly poor suffering from it as well the young and greedy cry babies who whine all day about something they cannot control or change, except at the ballot box.
Write your congressmen, Democrat and Republican, and tell them we want this and now, not next year, now.And tell Pelosi what you think of her and her stupid attitude towards yours and America's financial plight.

for DerKrieger
DerKrieger writes: "Americans don't respond to anything until it's a crisis so to make the claim that the GOP could have done something is correct but fails to acknowledge the fact that when prices were low, it wasn't anyone's priority."

FYI, we already had the crisis seven years ago:
It was the 9-11 terrorist attack on America.

That was when Bush should have made energy independence a key part of the counter-terrorism program against al-Qaeda he announced.

But he didn't. In speech after speech, he talked about al-Qaeda, Afghanistan, Iraq, the Taliban, Saddam, Iran, etc.--but in his speeches, he NEVER connected those issues to energy or oil. Not even once.

After 9-11, Bush had the public's attention, and even the public's willingness to pitch in and help. But he squandered it by not mentioning oil or energy. Instead, he just breezily told Americans to "hug your children and go shopping."

Unforgivable waste of a good opportunity.

for DerKrieger
DerKrieger writes: "How many Dems, especially blacks, are so committed to the Messiah and the Dem/socialists redistributionist message that they will never be convinced that the Dems do NOT have their interests in mind?"

The Dems are NOT committed to Obama. I've been reading the lefty blogs, and they don't trust him as far as they can throw him.

What they ARE committed to, is throwing the Republicans out of office. They're not voting for Obama. They're voting against the GOP. It doesn't matter who the Dem nominee is or what he stands for. They will vote for any Democrat against any Republican.

I remember the reaction on the lefty blogs when Jim Leach was voted out of office. They had considerable respect for him, since he's a liberal Republican. But they said, "But he's got that 'R' in front of his name and so he has to go, sadly."

Hey Mr.Magoo
Your name fits you perfectly. Mr. Magoo was blind also.

"There are none so blind as those who will not see"

I see some other similarities to you and a couple other people in history.

"There are no morals in politics; there is only expedience. A scoundrel may be of use to us just because he is a scoundrel."

This applies to you because you seem to take joy in the current situation. It doesn't seem to bother you that the poor are taking the brunt of the hardship. by the way the Quote was "Vladimir Linin"

Here is another:

" Humanitarianism is the expression of stupidity and cowardice."
Adolf Hitler
German National Socialist Party

Your just a little Lemming who will float thru this life causing damage to everyone around you. You will be too ignorant and self centered to see the harm you have caused. I'm truly glad I don't know you personally.

NANCY
I wonder if Pelosi gets infront of the mirror every morning and says "hello, madam president". Stopping the democratic process by openly refusing to allow energy bills to reach the floor for a vote has already had terrible results. We have job losses in industries such as smaller trucking firms, airline, automobile, and more workforce reductions coming from all sectors. Prices for basics are not creeping up, they're flying up. Doing nothing is making the situation worse and harder to reverse.

Note to California: Those you are electing to federal and state positions is not helping your situation in the least. Will you hold them accountable in November?

People forget..
..or the dems try to avoid the fact that the economy was doing well up until around the time the dems took over Congress. Everything has tanked since then and they blame it on Bush as if they had nothing at all to do with it. If they have nothing to do with what is going on, then why did they even want to be the majority???

The statements of Reid and Pelosi should be red-faced embarrassing, but they believe the public is too stupid not to buy into what they say. It's going to take 5 years??? Why don't they tell us how long "alternative fuels" are going to take?? If they were available today, it would take decades for infrastructure, price adjustments, vehicle exchange or modifications, etc. They are acting mentally-ill with the ignorant statements.

Energy #1 Election Issue in November
By November, America will be ready to sweep Congress out and really clean the "mess" there.

Republicans need to stand firm, loud and proud. America wants America to drill, refine and drive. We are known for ingeniuity and know-how, so don't tell us it can't be done or that we are such nitwits that it will take us 10 years. Realistically, I'd say more like 2 years.

YOU are now warned!
I caught part of CNN’s “We Were Warned” program this morning. It was the worst bit of liberal eco-idiot propaganda I have ever seen. They should be barred from showing this kind of lying trash on a news network.

Are these the "Speculators"
Harry Reid & the Dems are so hot for?

"INTERNATIONAL OIL TRADERS BET ON WHAT THE WORLD'S SUPPLIES WILL BE IN THE FUTURE."

The Key Word Here is - INTERNATIONAL!!!

What is it Reid, Pelosi & the entire Dem Party think it is they can do to STOP the SPECULATORS around the world?
How many of these speculators do you suppose might be REAL ENEMIES of our country?

Could it be Hugo Chavez, Bin Laden (the entire family for all we know), several Sultans & Kings in the Middle East etc. are trying to bring us down?

Nahhhh, not according to Clueless Harry & Dumb-as-a-Stump San Fran Nan. THEY and every other member of their Pitiful Party would rather place the blame on, and spend MILLIONS of Dollars investigating Evil Americans (especially George W Bush, VP Cheney & everything Halliburton) the Dims are ABSOLUTELY SURE are to blame for the rise in oil prices!!!

Even The Obamassiah is convinced that the Bush Administration has a clandestine cabinet post -"The Dept. Of Speculation" - to accomplish their nefarious, wicked & heinous deeds that artificially inflate the price of a barrel of crude!!!

Personally, I tend to think it is one or more of our enemies acting as "International Speculators" to destroy us.

BUT whoever is responsible, is doing it with the full knowledge that so long as the Dems are in control we won't do a dam-thing about it. Unless (like the Looney-Lib-Left) you think putting on a sweater this winter and eating dog-food is taking action!

2 All Conservative Bots - Reprogram Now!
When the world looks like something straight out a Mad Max movie then it'll be too late. The Dems are not only looking at the immediate solution, but the big picture long term solution. LOOK AT WHERE WE ARE!! WHO GOT US HERE??? You conservative zealots are just a bunch of drones who need some serious reprogramming. You don't know how to think, what to think or can even function until FOX News telling you how. Wake up!! Oils is not forever, do you think that there's a bottomless supply that'll never run dry? NO! It's one of the reason why we're where we are now, and you morons want to follow this nit-wit even further down the drain. Well, the dems are swimming against the vortex and trying to invest in solutions that will get us off oil dependence! The oil investors just want to get richer and put you stupid lemmings even further in the poorhouse. On another not I know you can't be complaining about a documentary based on FACT! that you viewed on CNN as opposed to what they show 24/7 on FOX News which isn't even good enough to referred to as journalistic excrement.

The Conservative Bot Replies
receroni, the party that got us here is the one symbolized by the jackass, just like the one who wrote this letter. We have gotten into this mess because people have believed the pap about biofuels, wind, and solar and think we have the capital to invest in it as Medicare, Social Security, and social contract spending bleed the capital out of the US. And both candidates are running screaming to spend even more.

The only way to get to where you want with wind, solar, biofuels, is to have private industry carry them forward without government interference. And that means CUTTING taxes, not raising them. The only way I see out of this whole mess is doing away with general fund spending on Medicare, Social Security, and welfare, running a balanced budget, and getting capital into hands of the RICH who are the only ones who can afford to do this.

High Energy Prices
Lambro is entirely correct. But the Democrats are counting on the "average" American being too stupid to figure out who is responsible for our sorry plight.

With the state of public education today, paired with the efforts of an adoring mainstream media to get Obama elected, the Democrats' campaign strategy might just pay off.

DRILL,DRILL,DRILL
Time is NOT the most important FACTOR...it's the fact that our nation has blindly trusted the diaper heads to deal honorably...NOT gonna happen!! NOW, we have the chance to have them eating out of our hands...they don't have armies, they've always depended on people who have NEEDS to be MET..defending their product.namely the US...It's gonna be extremely hard for those jackasses to DRINK OIL AND EAT SAND, but it's gonna be the BEST DAY IN OUR COUNTRY"S HISTORY...I imagine they may need those diapers on the OTHER END...I don't care if it takes 15 years, twice burned is ENOUGH..

This is inflation...
started by Republicans, not Democrats. Of course, Democrats will do nothing about it, since they are as addicted to spending as Republicans. The price of oil won't come down much because we have a more expensive government under Bush that has to be paid for.

BaseballDoc: Great slogan
"Like $4 gas? Thank a Democrat!" It should be scrawled on every gas pump in the country. Get out your magic markers, guys! Guerilla politics, here we come!

Alternative energy
C BS interviewed Al Gore for the evening news. Wind generators, solar and geothermal will save us.

He admitted that wind does not blow constantly so we would have to supplement with solar farms in the deserts. Sorry New York, Chicago no desert.

Will the lands needed for all these raptor (birds of prey) killers get some special dispensation from the enviro-lobby? Can half of Oregon's forests or Florida's swamps now be used for these wind generators and the transmission lines they will require?
