Poll
Will the Dems' health care Christmas Present to America be an improvement or detriment to our health care system?

WASHINGTON - Sen. Hillary Clinton's dubious electability has become the overriding issue in the Iowa Democratic caucuses where her chief rival, Sen. Barack Obama, is poised to overtake her on Jan. 3.

The respected Iowa Poll numbers tell the story of the senator's sudden slippage in the crowded race for her party's 2008 presidential nomination. In October, the statewide survey for the Des Moines Register showed her ahead at 29 percent, with former Sen. John Edwards at 23 percent and Obama at 22 percent.

But Sunday's dramatic poll results showed Obama cruising past her with 29 percent, with Clinton dropping back to 25 percent and Edwards standing still at 23 percent.

One poll result was especially damaging to Clinton's prospects in the caucus state: When Democrats were asked which candidate would they be most disappointed to see winning the nomination, Clinton came in first with 27 percent. J. Ann Selzer, director of the Iowa Poll, calls this Clinton's "ick factor."

The Iowa Poll stunned Clinton's high command, and for the first time the former first lady looked vulnerable. By itself, the poll has damaged her candidacy. But earlier polls confirmed what has been happening in the pivotal Midwestern state that could reshape the 2008 campaign.

They reveal an ongoing decline in her support. An American Research Group poll conducted last week showed Obama inching past her, 27 percent to 25 percent. The week before, an ABC News/Washington Post poll had Obama at 30 percent to 25 percent for Clinton.

She was losing ground nationally, too. A USA Today/Gallup Poll reported Monday that support for Clinton has "significantly eroded over the past month."

What has caused this sudden reversal of fortune for the presumptive front-runner? Independent pollsters and some Democrats say it has to do with persistent, lurking questions about her deeply polarizing image and whether, as one Democrat put it, she is "too calculating" for her own good.

Pollster John Zogby, who has been regularly polling in Iowa and the early primary states, tells me her falling numbers stem from party doubts about whether she could win the presidency in November, as well as the growing role of her husband in her campaign and the political baggage of the Clinton presidency.

"There is a perception out there that is raising the question, 'Is she electable?' It's coming up more and more, the closer we get to the Iowa caucuses vote," Zogby said.

"And there is Bill. With Bill out there campaigning, it is raising two important questions. Democrats are asking, 'Do we want to go through all this again?' and 'Who is he campaigning for, her or himself?'"

Notably, Zogby conducted a national poll late last month that found she "would lose to every one of the top-five Republican presidential contenders."

But putting the polls aside for the moment, Democrats have begun to publicly raise troubling questions about her candidacy, a sharp change in the party's reluctance to question her candidacy and her tactics.

In a cover story in the December issue of The American Prospect, a liberal Democratic opinion journal, executive editor Harold Meyerson acknowledges that she "has played 2007 very well," but notes ominously, "the year isn't over yet."

Her evasive, dodging answers to major issues like Social Security, driver's licenses for illegal immigrants and some of her Senate votes "could reinforce the perception that she's too smart by half, too calculating, too triangulating, too -- well, Clintonian," Meyerson said.

"If Obama or Edwards can make this charge stick over the next two months, we may yet have a race," he wrote.

Well, there is no doubt that the Democrats have a race on their hands now. A seasoned, well-grounded candidate might respond to such numbers by raising the importance of the issues that worry voters the most -- but not Clinton. She has chosen to go for Obama's jugular, hurling some of her fiercest attacks of the campaign.

She has begun mocking his experience, accusing him of raising "false hopes" among Democrats, and noting in one attack that he once wrote an essay in elementary school about how he wanted to be president.

"Now the fun begins," Clinton remarked to reporters as she telegraphed her intention to go after Obama with both guns blazing. Obama quietly put her down by saying that launching personal political attacks against one's opponent should not be considered fun. Score that round for Obama.

But what really shook the Clinton campaign to its foundations was the Iowa Poll's finding that she was losing her advantage with women voters. Obama led her among this strategic voting bloc, 31 percent to 26 percent.

It may be too early to say that Clinton is getting desperate. But her wild, scattershot, personally demeaning attacks are beginning to look that way. She is losing it.

Let her talk!
Just sit back and enjoy it. The woman keeps spewing her insanity and then tells us how she will have laws enacted to enforce same.

Who does she think she is talking to!!

Do Libby's Really...
...want to have such a divisive candidate as their nominee? Shouldn't the "first" woman President be the best? Hillary will set back any woman seeking office a hundred years.

Before the libs go beserk, I rate GWB as the second worse President in the modern era. Just behind Jimmy Carter.

Hillary bringing out an essay that Obama wrote in 1st grade stating he wanted to be President was classic Clintonian.

"Essay?" Do first grader's write essays?

Before it's over,
Hillary might just be frothing at the mouth like a rabid dog!

Chilling
I'm I the only person who felt a shiver upon hearing that Hellary had dug up Obama's second grade "essay" and used it for a political attack?

Yes, trashing people, intimidating people, destroying people is what Hellary does best. To her it is... fun.

Hillary’s Trojan Shoeless Horse

Hillary and her worn out Trojan horse she is trotting across the country is about to have a major leg injury which will end her chances at the Presidency and end her senate carrier come the 2012 election. She will be extremely vulnerable to competition after this one shot at the presidency washes down the drain being she is not aging very well in the face.

When she has her complete meltdown, she will also damage the image of the democrat party too. I believe we will finally get our monies worth on the “two for the price of one” we have been hearing about.

I don't know...
...as much 'fun' as it is to watch the Hildebeast have a meltdown, I think I would rather she did win the nomination. Obama may have a chance to beat whoever gets our nomination. I really don't think Hillary can beat most of the Republicans in the general election.

Mere name recognition
has got to be a big factor. A year ago, Hillary was head and shoulders above her competition. After a year, other names are catching up. A year from now, who knows.

correction to 3:17 A. M. post

Senate career*

I love it
You and Ann are posting about the same subject this week, LOL. Hey, you never hear about the Communist Party in the USA anymore. The reason is that they have been folded entirely into the Democrat Party. What was once a small invasion of key people in the 50s is now the entire party, including the platform. The stuff the Communist(D) party is pushing today would cause even FDR to roll over in his grave. H*ll, they are now to the left of Stalin.

The Lamocrats have been chortling because their part appeared to be decided and Shrillary could afford to attack Republicans and stay on a national message. LOL, now she can spend money and political capital attacking her Lamocrat opponents. It appears we have a horse race all the way around.

Forget the first
paragraph of the post above. Cut and paste error.

Hillary arracks Obama's name?
Clinton Volunteer Quits Over Obama Email

Hillary should step down—bottom line. I do not support Obama for President, but if you are against him please base it on the issues, not his name.

NPR-Iowa county coordinator for Hillary Rodham Clinton’s presidential campaign has resigned after forwarding a chain e-mail that suggests Barack Obama is a Muslim who wants to destroy the United States by being elected to its highest office.

Obama is a member of the United Church of Christ and has never been a Muslim.

A hoax e-mail that has been widely circulated suggests Obama is some sort of Manchurian candidate for Muslims.

Political suicide
LOL, the Lamocrat/CPUSA is watching the Clinton's political suicide and they will not be happy when the '08 election is done!
Beware, I don't think the fragile coalition of "oppressed" classes will be able to contain itself as the Titanic slips below the waves, the current cold Civil War may get hot!

How fun
I'm having a ball watching the heavy-handed and the lightweight fight it out. Just sit back and don't get in the way when the enemy is committing suicide.

Here we have Hillary using fascist tactics and mouthing inane generalities and Obama regurgitating 60's liberal blather. How a country could elect either of the president is beyond my comprehension. But then, it's no wonder they want illegals to vote. The more ignorant and phony voters the better their chances.

Hillary is
going to live to regret the comment "now the fun starts". It was saying to the world ( albeit unintentionally )that rolling in the mud is what she LIVES for. She is a sick, sick woman. RIP Hillary.

And yes,
it is chilling that she knows ANYTHING about Obama in the second grade!

Where Are the FBI Files When Needed
Hitlery may have had access to the files of some but Obama Omama was probably out of her sight at the time. But do not fear, as it gets closer, she'll pull stuff out of her black bag (whoops, did I say black bag?) to help clear her way.

Darn....
I want to know how to cut and paste.....

Hillary for President
I hope she wins the Dem nomination then the GOP can open the floodgates on her. Once her record is front and center even the average Joe will see who she really is.

It's like in...
...Stephen King's "The Stand" where Randall Flagg starts to lose control of his whole operation.

It's the same old story. Even as bad as Republicans manage something, the Democrats can be counted on to run the weakest, most unlikeable, most McGovernized candidates at precisely the same moment they SHOULD be begging somebody like Joe Lieberman to run.

Citizen
Lieberman? Are you kidding. He is far to level headed and rational and pragmatic to get the Dems to run him.

Despite him being an ultra liberal on many issues, he says what he means and means what he says. He's the only Democrat my father has voted for in CT in 30 years.

I don't know if I would ever vote for him but I think I could at least tolerate him.

Reminds me of

There are things about the Clintons that remind me of the Iselins.

(see Manchurian Candidate)

typo
Third sentence should be "too level headed" not "to level headed." I hate that!

Hellery
To see what we would get if Hellery Clinton were elected President, just look at Hellery's Hellthcare. We would have liberals controlling every facet of our lives every minute of every day (like in the book 1984)and 100% tax rates.
I call her Hellery because she made a pact with the devil. she calls it marriage vows.

Obama vs Clinton
I have mixed feelings about these latest polls.
On the one hand, I would much prefer to see Obama as President than Clinton, I don't agree with his stances on virtually anything, but at least I believe he's sincere, whereas Clinton is down right dangerous.

However, I believe any GOP contender will have a much better shot at winning the Presidentcy with Clinton on the Dem side as opposed to Obama.

Nevertheless, I still firmly believe, when opportunity is given to debate fundamental differences in policy, conservatism wins hands down.

Obama is VERY liberal that will hurt him. Clinton is just disliked by too many people both on the left and right.

Either way, it's going to make for an interesting primary season!

not so fast
political pundits like to built up orak obama so that republicans can win in the national election. they themselves know that this country is not ready for a black man president that's a fact. why so much attention focused on hilary if she is unelectable.

what democrat did you poll saying "we can't go through this again." please explain what you meant.

Hey Top Gun...
It's a nice idea that Hitlery's senate career could be in jeopardy after this debacle of a presidential run, but the fact is she is the Jr. Senator from New York, the empire state that has given us, Tammany Hall, Elliot Spitzer, and that notable antimilitary, anti American scumbag; "Up-Chuck Schemer." The voters of this state (and I've recently moved here) are such that if Joseph Stalin were here and ran with that magic 'D' after his name he would be elected. Unfortunately, her senate seat is safe.

DA*N the rotten luck!

What About PS 71 Lambro?
When Donald Lambro was in fifth grade he cheated on his arithmetic test and had to have a conference with the Principal and his parents and now we're supposed to believe him about this? Just remember, Bush and Cheney lied about Iraq. Now the Warpublicans are using these polls to advance their fascist agenda so they can turn America over to Halliburton and Wal Mart. Hillary is the Smartest Woman Ever and Republican women are all going to vote for her and that's why they have to make up these phoney polls. Ha Ha, we're taking over next November!

Now none of you usual libs have to post anything.

Hillary isn't losing it...
She already lost it mentally, years ago! She's not had full mental capacity for years,(if ever) she has one goal and that is supreme power. If she could be dictator or have sovereign rule of the US, she would try.

In the words of a very well spoken man: "I look to a day when people will not be judged by the color of their skin, but by the content of their character." - Martin Luther King, Jr.

We should all look to the candidates' character and the issues, regardless of what party, creed or color. We know HRC won't stand up to the scrutiny!

Scary
Clinton sounds more and more like a melding of Hitler, Stalin, and Tojo in one package every day. Obama sounds like a 60s utopian non-thinker.
Edwards sounds like the lying ambulance chaser he is. If those are the Democratic front runners, Lord help us! Biden is starting to look downright statesmanlike.

I'm less than enthused with any of the Republican candidates, but the worst of them is better than the "best" of the Democrats.

It is hard to understand
that of a nation of 300 million, she is the best candidate democrats could field. Or for that matter, the same could be said of Obama.

Many have written about Hillary's lack of qualifications never having run a company or a city or a state. Many are dubious of her claims as first lady to have been deeply involved in decision making because no papers have been produced to prove that claim as well as to assess the quality of her advice and decision making. Others point to her failed efforts on health care as well as education reform in Arkansaw.

Much has been said of Obama's lack of time in the Senate as well as his record in the llinois legislature of voting "present" on important issues. Is that leadership? He appears to be a good speechmaker but his leadership has yet to be demonstrated.

I don't think I would vote for a democrat, but I sure would like to see a good contest with ample time for issues of importance to the nation be soundly debated. Immigration, illegals, health care, failing education, the role and scope of government. So far, what we have had are well rehearsed "sound bites" along with Hillary's and Obama's lack of a past record we could assess.

Hardknox
"GOP can open the floodgates on her."

We had that oppurtunity to do so with Bill Clinton and never did. It was not until after the election, especially the first, that dirt came out.

I have no doubt, that the GOP had this information before the election. Why didn't they use it? Just maybe they wanted Clinton in office?

I look at this present election and what candidates are the supposed front runners. They are so far from being republican, that they should be running as democrats.

Just maybe, both sides of the isle are the same, but with different name tags.

Micheal Brown
I feel the same dilemna. Well said.

loco
I agree yet either of those 2 are better than that phony reptile, John Edwards. Wow, that is one disgusting human being. Using your dead son for votes and personal gain is chilling.

Is Losing it?
The Southern Black Accent?
The Baby Bond?
The Cackle on Chris Wallace's Show?
The Vacillating between a Strong, Independent, Woman and and "WAAA! The Guys are attacking me!"

She has LONG SINCE LOST IT or She NEVER HAD IT!

A Woman president?
Several years ago the first woman was given the job as a professional baseball umpire. The press made quite a deal over it. After just a few games she left the field crying, and never returned. THe point? There are many women who would make great professional umpires, but the wrong one was placed in the job the first time, and it set others back so far that there are few if any in that profession now. Hillary is the wrong woman at the right time. She knows little about running a business, a city, a state and especially a nation. Her personality is self serving, she is a socialist, and an ole hippie. The true Hillary comes out every time she speaks. The Clintons want power, and they will do about anyting to get it.. Let her continue to open her mouth and stick high heels in it.

I hope the Dems. have no one.
Clinton is a harpie. She carries 20 million pounds of negative baggage and that's only on her right arm. Why she has had the support her numbers claimed previously is stupefying.

Obama is maybe a nice guy, but he has NO experience and makes Hillary's claim to exp. look good. He has an iffy, anomalous background, hasn't run anything, and hasn't finished his senate term. What he has most of is Oprah. Maybe she should run. No, I didn't see that.

Edwards made gadzillions based on the lie that birth deliveries cause cerebral palsy. Much of that fortune is planted off shore and/or in non-taxable trusts. When he rants about the rich, he is shooting his own left foot.

The Reps. don't have any winner take all candidate, but almost all of them look better than the Dems., of whom Chris Dodd is prob. the best, and he likely has no numbers at all.

Michael Brown
I agree with your assessment, however, when you stated "when opportunity is given to debate fundamental differences in policy, conservatism wins hands down."
This is true, and the Liberal Demonrats know it as well. There will be no Lincoln - Douglas type debates from the Demonrats, they know they can't win an honest debate. So, they will continue to support the type of nonsense debate platforms that CNN and Youtube provide, so they will be able to shine and eliminate the opportunity of losing because of a debate. The Demonrats don't want to debate, they want to win and install the Communist Party complete takeover of the U.S.A. Joe McCarthy was right then and he is still right today in our present time. Joe McCarthy is and will always be a TRUE AMERICAN HERO.

Epitome of a politician
How many politicians actually care about their constituents? Not many I'd wager but HRC just seems to so obviously loathe the American people. We're "commoners" and IMO that is telegraphed quite clearly. She is also a barely in the closet Socialist, not just a Liberal but a full blown, "I can plan your lfe for you better than you can", Socialist.

Instead of attacking her personally if she should get the nomination the GOP should just ask the American public some direct questions about their vision for the country.

1. Do you believe your neighbor should fund your retirement?
2. Do you believe your neighbor should fund your health care?
3. Do you prefer higher taxes over lower taxes?
4. Do you think competition is bad?
5. Do you believe we have become more divided as a nation and that 'group' grievance politics has pitted neighbor against neighbor?
6. Do you believe public schools are working against your efforts to instill positive beliefs, tradition, patriotism, in your children?
7. Do you believe the government should direct your life in any way?

If you answered Yes then vote for the Dems/Socialists.
If no, vote for the GOP.

Overstatement
Obama's school boy essay was stupid. But this is NOT both guns blazing. This is ticy tacy at best. An apponents experience and gullability ( I will personally talk with terrorists) is fair game. Thats not dirt.

Of course, bringing up a liberals historical record has been considered dirty politics by the left-wing press. They're insulted this gets out after they tried so hard to cover it up.

Passion Play
__The Dems just playing another passion card. A card played attempting to have some let down their guard, while getting the sleepers to rally. It will be a Hill-Bama, or Bama-Hill, ticket in the end, while a woman and a black, strum the strings of passion. Both drawing from factions of their place of birth. The turbulant times of the sixties.

The New World "Leadership"
We need to step back and look at the World today. Hillary will fit right in with all of the crazy world leaders emerging today. She will fit right in with King Hugo Chavez, Mullah Amadjedian, "Joe Stalin" Putin, Crazy Kim Il and all of those African Despots. Maybe they will all get together for a crazy leaders summit, that will be great display of psychosis on parade. What I don't understand, is why the people appear to meekly put up with such deranged, lunatic "leadership". Is the US really going to join this club by electing Hillary?

Georgetwin
She never nad it. The only talent she has is the ability to be crapped on by her husband and take it publicly, more than any woman in America. Yet, she is held up by the feminists as strong? Well, anything for power. No amount of public humiliation could/can outbalance her lust for power.

This is a widely despised woman
I am convinced that hardly anyone really wants this woman for Prez outside the liberal MSM.

I have never believed that 42% of the public, as portrayed by MSM polls, wanted this woman for Prez. I am convinced that Democrats were all told they must support her and were afraid to speak up in opposition because they were afraid for their own careers if/when she won.

Now that they see she is not inevitable they are very willing to jump the ship.

As I am typing this Rush is playing tapes of Mrs. Clinton's interview from Maria Bartiromia at CNBC and Mrs. Clinton is demonstrating her own incompetence.

She refers to "tens of millions" of consumers in this country (our population is only 3 million).

She talks about adjusting the upper bracket capital gains tax (there is only one rate for capital gains tax, regardless of income tax).

She also impulsively gave out with her infamous "cackle" as soon as Bartiromia began to question whether the Bush tax cuts should be allowed to expire. She rudely began her cackle while Bartiromia was still talking.

The general public doesn't want this shrew for Prez. The more we learn about her the more certain it is her candidacy will crash and burn. And after she gets blown away in the Presidential race she won't be able to even win re-election to the Senate in 2012.

She just can't hide behind Slick Willie anymore. And she can't hitch her wagon to his star either. She's on her own and she just can't hack it that way.

Correction
Our population is only 300 million

wiseone 300 million = or -....
...the tens of millions undocumented base the left embraces. When they open their mouths, if one listens, their hidden truths are revealed.

Cookie
If you notice, Bill takes subtle little jabs at her and/or tries to rewrite HIS record while ostensibly campaigning for HER!

Correcting the correction
In her interview on CNBC Mrs. Clinton referred to "tens of hundreds of millions" of consumers, which is more than the 300 million people in the country.

(I'm obviously having a tough time with this one too, but then I'm not running for Prez.)

Georgetwin
Yeah. He's still crapping on her.

Hillary bag of tricks
Hillary using Obama's first grade essay in her campaign means she has decided to get mean and personal. This conjures up memories of John Kerry bringing up the lesbianism of Cheney's daughter. Everyone agreed that was way over the line in violating privacy. If Obama and/or Edwards gain ground over her I suspect she has more in her bag of dirty tricks to use. I agree with the poster who couldn't understand who is supporting this woman outside the MSM. She has become scary and I sometimes wonder about her mental health. She has become obsessive about winning the presidency and I believe she will do anything to win. Contrast this with Mitt Romney who today vowed that he would rather lose for President than compromise his faith. Be afraid folks. Be very afraid.

Hillary's Terror campaign on K. Willey
HILLARY AND JACK PALLADINO'S TERROR CAMPAIGN ON KATHLEEN WILLEY (1997-98)
THE BOTTOM LINE: HILLARY IS IRRESPONSIBLE WITH POWER.

Kathleen tells what Hillary’s
Goons did to her (1997-98):

“They threatened my children. They threatened my friend’s children. They took one of my cats [Bullseye] and killed another [Blarney]. They left a skull on my porch. They told me I was in danger. They followed me. They vandalized my car. They tried to retrieve my dogs from a kennel. They hid under my deck in the middle of the night. They subjected me to a campaign of fear and intimidation, trying to silence me.”

[Kathleen Willey, Target: Caught in the Crosshairs of Bill and Hillary Clinton, p. x]

Jack Palladino says “The only regret that I have about that whole thing was that Hillary did not pay me in a timely fashion.” [Kathleen Willey, Target, p. 212]

That's a bold statement...
I would not count Her Majesty down and out. She is a Clinton and the mind behind the man (who thought with his shortest appendage). There are enough stupid people of voting age looking for the "free" ride she offers that could put Ms. Iron Britches in America's House.

How's this for a suggestion?
Those who are "on the dole" should not be allowed to vote.

That would certainly eliminate all the votes for the Dems whose only premise is they will give give give to the "have-nots" by taking the $$ of the honest, hard-working tax-payers.

Think that would fly? Probably not any more than a pig could.
