Will the Dems' health care Christmas Present to America be an improvement or detriment to our health care system?

Have you noticed a change in Barack Obama’s campaign? Instead of avoiding controversies over values, religion and race, he seems to welcome them and wade into the debates with an increasing enthusiasm.

Characterizing how the Republicans will attack him, he predicted that they would criticize his “funny name” and add “and by the way, did you notice that he’s black?”

Obama used to go out of his way to avoid this kind of reference, but now he brings it on. Deliberately.

Why?

Obama and the conservative right are mutually trying to keep the debate about his candidacy on the existential level — is he the hope for America’s future or a Manchurian Candidate, a kind of sleeper agent sent to destroy our democracy? That debate, which pits Obama’s rhetoric against the Rev. Wright’s rantings, is a contest that could go on all day, and Obama would win it. It is simply a bridge too far to believe that Obama is that evil and that invidious.

But the more the debate covers such fundamental questions, the more it ignores the details — details which could bring Obama down.

Quite simply, Obama would rather address his religious views and his optimism about America and his embrace of diversity than talk about his plans to raise taxes, let gasoline prices soar and socialize healthcare.

In our new book, Fleeced, we try to bring the debate back down to earth, focusing on the specific plans that Obama has announced during his presidential primary campaign and discussing the consequences. This is the debate Barack Obama hopes he can avoid.

Consider his proposals:

• In effect, he would legislate a 60 percent tax bracket for upper-income Americans, killing all initiative and innovation. He’d raise the top bracket to 40 percent. He’d apply FICA taxes to all income, not just that under $100,000 as at present. So add 40 percent plus FICA’s 12.5 percent plus Medicare’s 2 percent plus state and local taxes averaging, after deduction, at 5-6 percent, and you have a 60 percent bracket.

• He would double the capital gains tax, saddling the 50 percent of Americans who own stock with dramatically higher taxes.

• He’d double the dividend tax, hitting elderly coupon-clippers now retired and depending on fixed incomes.

• He wants to cover 12 million illegal immigrants with federally subsidized health insurance, dramatically driving up costs and forcing federal rationing of healthcare. As in the U.K. and Canada, you will not be permitted certain medical procedures if the bureaucrats decide you are not worth it.

• He proposes requiring Homeland Security operatives to notify terror suspects that they are under investigation within seven days of starting the investigation

• He says that unless they can establish that there is “probable cause to believe that a certain individual is linked to a specific terrorist group,” Homeland Security cannot seize his documents and search his business. The current standard is only that the search be “relevant” to a terror investigation.

He does not oppose $5-per-gallon gasoline but only says that he wishes there had been a more “gradual adjustment” to the higher prices.

Obama can talk about the Rev. Wright and flag lapel pins and his wife’s love of America all day long. But what he resists is a specific discussion of his own plans for our country. That’s the discussion he fears and he avoids. And it’s the discussion John McCain must force upon him if he is to have any realistic chance of winning the election.

The details vs. his associations
In the movie "Breaker Morant", the character played by actor Bryan Brown leaps to his feet from his trial chair and shouts/hurls at a witness testifying against him, a loud and piercing, "liar."

Don't we all want to do that to Sen. Obama when we hear/heard him say he was never present when Rev. Wright spoke the speech, etc. LIAR.

But, Mr. Morris and Ms. McGann are correct that calling the creature out is better done by the places it intends to take us over the ones it has already visited.

Sen. Obama is a construct. He represents a known pattern of big government and socialist redistribution with a noxious shade of Ted Sorenson/Ramsey Clark for foreign policy and national security. He's just Dennis Kucinich and Juan Peron rolled into a covert ghillie suit. He's been cut out of a construction paper mold and glued to a backing of new hope and old stammering audacity.

Let's call him out on his program(s). Let's know him for what he is. Somewhere between Rev. Wright and windfall taxes, the public will see him and reject him for cause.

Taxes
In 1993, Clinton raised taxes. The Republicans (led in those days by Newt Gingrich) predicted a Depression as a result. What happened instead? Eight years of prosperity which included the middle class; and a balanced Federal Budget. In 2001, after Bush assumed the presidency, taxes were slashed. The result? If you take the federal debt that resulted from the 1790s to 2000, and tripled that amount, that is the federal debt today. Several Democrat policies that I've viewed propose simply a return to the 1990s level of taxation, and, hopefully, a return to the Clinton Budget Surpluses.

(And don't blame the Democrats for the humongous Budget Deficits of the Bush years .... Bush had a Republican Congress for the first 6 years of those years, when the deficit and debt soared.)

It's time for a change.

"balanced budget" under clinton
If you cut through the mainstream media nutsack licking of Bubba, and look directly at the numbers from the US Treasury, one notices that Clinton NEVER had a balanced budget, let alone a surplus.

The yearly deficit DID go down, after the Republicans took over in 1995, and started cutting spending.

Note, a budget surplus is just paper. It only takes into account EXPECTED income and expenditures. If you overinflate your expected income, you'll ALWAYS have a budget surplus.

GeorgiaGal
The Contract with America helped to lower deficit. It also got welfare reform pushed through. Clinton vetoed it twice. In the end it got through. Later, Clinton claimed this was his greatest idea. He took credit for something the CWA Republicans pushed though.

The discussion he avoids
From the article: "But what he resists is a specific discussion of his own plans for our country."

"I'll debate JOhn McCain anytime, anyplace"
Turns out, not so much.

He'd rather keep it about race apparently. ("Did they mention I'm black"?)
His job: to let the american people find out as little as possible about him and his plans.

No problem. If he's elected, I can do with very little. If I make more than he deems allowable, I guess I'll have to quit working and let the gov take care of me.
We could all do that. Then we won't need gas to go to work. Probably won't be any companies to work for anyway, as they apparently make more than he deems allowable, so they'll go elsewhere, and it won't profit anyone to take the risk of starting a business (creating jobs).
I'll do just fine.

If McCain was smart ..
.. he would've come out in support of:

* ending all embargoes on DRILLIN'
offshore and in ANWR
* more refining capacity
* Nuclear Energy while Obama and Hillary were still duking it out in the (D) primary.

Why?

Because both Obama and Hillary would've had to move even more to the Left to show their Enviro-Leftist colors.

Then, they would find themselves irretrievably stuck to the Enviro-Left position during the General election.

If McCain was smart ..
.. he would've come out in support of:

* ending embargoes on DRILLIN'
- offshore and
- in ANWR
* increased domestic refining capacity
* Nuclear Energy

He should've done this while Obama and Hillary were still duking it out in the (D) primary.

Why?

Because both Obama and Hillary would've outdone each other in moving to the Left to show their Enviro-Leftist colors.

Then, they would find themselves irretrievably stuck to the Enviro-Left position during the General election.

Voice of Reason...
Well, it can be said better late than never. I'm glad to see him speak out against the moratorium on offshore drilling. I wish he would rethink ANWR. I'm glad he supports nuclear power...the French do have some good ideas once in awhile (look at the Statue of Liberty). So, I think he's on the right track. I am supporting him with donations but I am also working with the RNC on congressional battles. Congress has a lower approval rating than the president and I think there are seats ripe for taking. I would suggest those who truly don't want Obama in charge with all his taxes, social programs and uber liberal policies do the same.

Obama wants to keep it about religion??

GREAT!

Someone - PLEASE (!) ask Obama about his deep faith to Lord Hunaman (Hindu Monkey god). The Times of India reports,

"The idol is being presented to Obama as he is reported to be a Lord Hanuman devotee and carries with him a locket of the monkey god along with other good luck charms."

"Obama has deep faith in Lord Hanuman and that is why we are presenting an idol of Hanuman to him," said Bhama. "

Since Obama wants to keep the dialogue on personal issues ... Tell us, Barrack, about the golden monkey charm you carry and your faith in such things.

Lie about the 60% tax bracket
A 60% tax bracket might kill the initiative of the 5000 people who would be affected by it now, but it wouldn't kill the initiative of the remaining 295 million Americans who would kill to get into that bracket.

As I said in another thread last night, Reagan's logic proved that Americans would work their butts off to make a million dollars a year and then, because the bracket Reagan was referring to was 95%, then.

It's a standard conservative lie that high taxes reduce initiative. Conservatives can't seem to remember that there is a great unwashed but tremendously talented group of Americans who can stop in and run the higher income positions in this country without breaking a sweat.

See! Conservatives are basically pessimistic about how talented Americans really are and what it takes to motivate us. Conservatives really don't know America or Americans.

Morriss' toe sucking
Anybody remember what that was all about?

The Obomination of America
Barrack Obama is, without question, the most dangerous candidate in American history. His plan for radical increases in taxes (and keep in mind that what he says will be far less than what he really wants to do), for policies that will devastate our national security (unilateral disarmament, no-conditions talks with our enemies, encouraging more illegal immigrants, etc.), socialized health care (that will destroy our health care system), and his constant lying and deceiving, his entire clan of criminal, socialist, and anti-American pals, and his own anti-white, anti-American, anti-Israel beliefs (come on, you can't be a close pal of Rev. Wright and a member of a church for 20 years where those are the offical teachings without agreeing with them!), and the multitude of other dangers that this man poses, and you get a man who would be HORRIBLE for our country. Yes, liberals, that is a long sentence, one you probably are not capable of reading, let alone understanding.

Mr Morris writes:

in your pathetic world there is no govt program you will not embrace nor any amount of taxes than will bother you as long as they are being paid by others/

Since johnsons great society started some $44 trillions has been spent on so called entitlements and the war on poverty. Isn't it long past time to declare this war won. afterall it is the mostly costly and failed program ever.

When red nancy and land deal reid ran in 2006 it was on the campaign promise that pork spending would be brought under control and congress would operate on a pay as you go process.

The results have been great increases in spending and pork wasted out of control. Since congress controls the purse strings why can pelosis and her cowd give americans what they promised. Pelosis and reid promised fiscal responsibility and they have failed to deliver.

So just as they demanded the repubs be replaced for their fiscal irresponsibility shouldn't pelosi and company be held to the same standard

By the way your hero b hussein has also taken some $700 million in pork thievery so that shows he is just as guilty of iressponsible spending as he has accused others of

Why would anyone
for for this man? Especially after he openly states his intentions. As a small business owner, my tax preparer told me that the $1,000 refund I received would have been much different had just the Bush tax cuts were allowed to expire. I would have owed $10,000 - a swing of negative $11,000. (We made well under $100k last year) Don't believe libs when they say only a few people will be affected, like that ever happens. I can only surmise that the Democrat Party voter base consists of naive sheeple, arrogant, hypocritical, unsocial, authoritarian holier than thous, or folks who don't pay taxes - topped off with socialist/communist sympathizers.

Amen brother.

If one of the trolls here saw my tax bill for my small business they'd tell me i'd be better of on "Obamacare".

Since small business hires most of the workers in this country, God help the little guy when obama gets done with us.

Obama's Strategy
If The Obamaman is attacked on his agenda,we win.If he is attacked on personals,he wins.He is asking,no begging us to go for the personal stuff.

He even throws us a line ,fishing for a bite. So far,the only one who has taken it is except Democrats. Now Ralph Nader is nibbling. We'll see how far he will go.

I still believe the Clintons have some explosive information they will put out there soon. Their fingerprints won't be on it,but they will be behind it.

I wonder about Patti Solis Doyle. Is she a mole,or has she really left the Clintons? The Clinton Machine is still up and running. Why? When the time comes for action, they will pounce. Mark my words.

the b hussein strategy
b hussein thinks he gets ahead of the opposition by claiming he alone makes up the ground rules.

The great race unifier has shown that by resorting to becoming the affirmative action candidate he can acuse his opponents of being racists before the campaign starts if in any way they critisize any aspect of his campaign.

B hussein is quick to label others as racists. He tells all that blacks cannot succeed without affirmative action programs. He tells whites that unless they change their thinking america can never change.

But b hussein thinks that his new proposals to bankrupt america through an even more repressive yax system will solve all of the problems of america and the world

It seems b hussein through his affilliation with wright and his work as a community organizer has learned to find his black identity and his victim identity but he has failed to learn his american identity. With missus jatred he seeks the presidentcy not to lead america to a better place but to impose his idea that punishing whites will address all the imaginary grievances that blacks hold against whites.

Blacks and liberal whites and their white guilt buy into his messiah complex but b hussein is just another empty politician running to prove to himself he is someone.

American thought with bubba they had seen the slickest most immoral person to gain the presidentcy. Bubba is an amatuer compared to b hussein and his plans to change and punish america. Bubba wallowed in the love of his supporters. In b hussein we witness a cult devotion surrounding a truly empty person

Flight Capital
Why did I think Dick was such an idiot when he was shilling for Clinton?

When his confiscatory tax policy is implemented all capital for investment will disappear in the US.

Because his understanding of business and the market is outmoded communist models that were never correct Obama cannot understand that he can do nothing to keep those Dollars in America.

Or perhaps Dick is wrong, that Obama does indeed have an evil agenda. Then his tax policy, which will indeed have the above effect will give Obama the precise reason to take control of any company or industry on the basis of national need.

Here's the problem; are American's smart enough to begin to see this truth instead of what Obama has been directing them toward? He will have without doubt though the necessary support of the House, the Senate and the Judiciary.

Be afraid.

Cheers,

Bloefeld

Oback Arama and Taxes
I’m Oback Arama and I want to talk to you about government revenue enhancement. I’ve been all across the 57 states of this great nation of ours and I’ve sensed a deep hope for change. What I want to do is change the way you think about taxes. That’s change that works for me.
No doubt there have been times when you’ve seen something that was unfair or something that has gone wrong and you’ve said “The government should do something about that”. I have the audacity of hope to believe that if we can put a man on Mars, then we certainly should do something about those unfair things and those things that have gone wrong. We know the battle ahead will be hard, but always remember that no matter how tough it may get, nothing can stop us if we scream “CHANGE” loud enough and often enough. Eventually our opponents will give up and say “please, please anything but please just stop with the ‘CHANGE’ thing. I can’t take it anymore.” When that time comes, my plan is to institute 100% withholding tax from every person’s paycheck. Once we have paid all of the bills, we will return an amount to each and every person according to his needs. This will not only be eminently fair but it will also enable us to balance the budget, save Social Security and bring our health care up to the level of the health care in Cuba and the former Soviet Union and the former German Democratic Republic. With our surplus funds, we will take care of all of those unfair things and all of those things that have gone wrong.
They may say that this day will never come; that it is a false hope; that our sights are set too high; that our country was too divided to come together around this commune purpose. But I ask: “If Pol Pot could do it, can we do it?” Yes we can! I’m Oback Arama and I approved this message.

So, confidence is a bad thing now?
Obama welcomes the cheap shots and idiotic fear-based attacks because he knows that they'll only make him look better than his ignorant opposition.

And you're whining that he's not giving dull, detailed speeches about policy in his political rallies? C'mon, folks; neither is McCain. Neither does ANY candidate whose campaign mananger knows how to run a campaign.

Obama isn't trying to "hide" the details of his campaign; you certainly had no trouble finding them, posted as they are on his *campaign web site*!

You're going to have to come up with something better if you want to beat Obama. Have you considered a candidate you can actually SUPPORT?

Liberals are always wrong
Libs like GeorgiaGal miss a lot of facts. Bill Clinton actually cut capital gains taxes which resulted in the boom, not his small income tax hikes. In addition, George W. Bush did NOT have control of Congress for 6 years. Jim Jeffords switched parties and control of the Senate was in Democrat hands from May 2001 until January 2003. Please get your facts straight so you don't embarass yourself further.

cocobean
You should know by now, there are facts and there are facts. Liberals make up theirs. They hope no one will catch them ,but they 'misunderestimate' us. Or,they may just be ignorant of the truth.

We have enough real facts that support out contentions that we are right and they are wrong on almost any subject. We don't need to make them up. We sure have out work cut out for us,though. They are busy little buggers.

Problem with Obama
Morris is right on target here.

There is plenty to talk about regarding his attitudes and associations. However, only talking about that stuff will ultimately put Obama in office.

Unless the message about his policies and that of a congress friendly to his policies is brought home to voters, he'll sail on in.

In some ways, I like the idea of an Obama Presidency in that for the Entertainment Tonight crowd and the MSM it signifies hope. We'd almost surely see a more positive spin on the news for the next few years & that is actually worth something. However, the price of that is to suffer through some of the worse policies the country has ever lived through.

Somehow we need to convice Thomas Sowell that he needs to write about his profound conversion to liberlism. If he can convince the MSM of his sincere conversion, maybe they'll support his run for the Prez. And even though he's older than McCain, if he were to run as a Democrat, I'm sure the news would continually talk about how robust he'd suddenly become. :)

Unless of course he really was born in the United States.
There are some very grave doubts that is growing concerning his place of birth.

One thing is certain and I am confident of, Obama has no Leadership qualities for Americans.
He is a good speaker , but his leadership is nothing but a follower of the same old Marxism we have seen in the 20th Century.

Thinking men and women have rejected all the followers of Marx and Lenin, Castro and Mao.
The path to socialism is already been discovered by those men, and Obama being a follower of them, is not leading.
He is nothing but a salesman for Marxism, Racism and Division.

I am confident he is a moron

143 days in the senate does not qualify him to be anything more than a senator. If he had run against a viable candidate,he would not even be senator.

He would still be doing 'community outreach' and being mentored by that 'Great American Patriot' Jeremiah Wright and all his other cronies. He is a joke, albeit,a dangerous one.

In the 40s and 50s
The top income tax bracket was over 90%. Was there no innovation in the U.S. in the 50s?

The top rate started coming down in 1962, and trended down ever since. Has the country gotten better and better since 1962 and the tax rate has fallen?

Why is it that conservatives all seem to want to return us to the 50s, while at the same time trying to fight the tax policies of their golden era?

Like the old saying "You cannot cheat an honest man".

Its true.
I have received by email, many scams from the Nigerian Scam to winning the European Lottery, 25 times no less.

Everyone who knows about the Nigerian Scam shake their head in wonder how so many still remain ignorant of it and get taken.

Its still happening, and is awesome for how stupid some people really are to get taken by it, but they do.

Same thing with Obama, honest men and women will not be taken in by his scam, and see him for the very small little man he really is, yet filled with self adoration and can speak.

McCain can Outstrategize Obama
McCain can do an end around Obama and the enironmental wackos if he went to Iraq and :

1) Claim surge has worked and we'll win in Iraq if he's elected but lose if Obama is elected.

2) Have Malaki make a deal to sell 100% of Iraq's oil exclusively to the U.S. at $5 below market price for next ten years and we'll keep enough troops in Iraq to stabilize his government.

3) During those 10 years start converting coal and shale oil to oil and drill off shore.

Here in Colorado Obama and McCain are running ads.

Both are disgusting to me, but Obama's even more so cause its about being raised in Kansas, in the "Heart of America" that implanted to him the core American Values he now claims as his own.

Living-in and loving the the Heart Land, I have never in my life heard anyone promoting Afro-Centric values as American.

Yet this moron has attended an Afro Centric Church for 20 years, and one must conclude he agrees with it, and believes it.

No one in their right mind will believe Afro-Centric beliefs has a damn thing to do with America and our values.

Sad day for all Americans when such blatant scams are believed, and just shows how spiritually destitute Americans are today, right in the middle of the richest nation on Earth for REAL Spiritual values that has given true Liberty.
Now losing this Liberty by believing scams from people who promise Liberty but are themselves in BONDAGE.

75% of the people that Mr. Obama wants to tax at that rate are small businessmen.
I guess libs think that it's people laying around eating bonbons who have too much money.
To me, these are the people creating JOBS, which is the highest thing on my domestic priority list. Not to mention a high value for self sufficiency that Iused to think was in the american dna.

I have repeatedly asked, sincerely, for lib posters here to tell us how much profit (percent) a business should be "allowed" to make.

No responses.

talent scout - the heartland candidate
Wrapped in the Americanflag, he is. And he and Mrs. Obama have been undergoing charm school - well, a "makeover"- which I would reckon included alot of coaching about what to say and what not to say to appear patriotic.
He's got the lapel pin, and shortly after the GDAmerica episode, he started appearing in front of banks of huge flags. There was not one american flag on his website when all this started, and none to be seen at his rallies. I know. I checked. Just that silly sun rising over stripes logo of his (reminded me of Mao), which he's now morphing into something that looks like the presidential seal.

I observed early on that patriotism is not instinctual for either of them. I can't fathom electing a president who has to be coached in it.
What was that about When socialism comes to America, it'll be wrapped in the flag and carrying a cross?
He's gonna be the most spiritual, patriotic american we have ever seen in our lives before november.

Little ol' Georgia gal.......honey......
You like the rest of the Obama worshippers are going around with blinders on. There are a lot more issues also to consider with this man as president. Read up on Marxism...you might learn a few things and re-think your support for this scary individual..not that McCain is that great, but at least he is not a Marxist.

He's getting away with it
I'm sick and tired of this smug, sanctimonious wimp lecturing everyone as to what we can say, what is a legitimate campaign issue and who should or should not be subject to examination. This is a race for the Presidency not a contest for Moralist-In-Chief. Not one real question or follow-up was asked by the Media at his most recent Newsfest, so, if Middle America is going to learn anything about this radical putz and his confiscatory policies, the conservative PACs will have to do the job - 'cause Mccain won't!

Obama's avoiding debate
Why is John McCain challenging Obama to debates?

When will there be a debate?

McCain needs to start hammering Obama on issues more especially taxes.

Obama's campaign slogans.

"YES WE CAN".. TAX YOU INTO POVERTY AND THERE'S NOTHING YOU CAN DO ABOUT IT!

"YES WE CAN".. CHANGE AMERICA TO A SOCIALIST NATION & TAKE DOWN AMERICA"

"YOU CAN HOPE IT WON'T HAPPEN.. BUT IT WILL"
