Is Obama Teflon?

Poll
Was the Copenhagen Global Warming Summit Walk-Out a Win for the U.S.?

It’s been a rough two weeks for Barack Obama, but his poll numbers remain strong and unchanged. Is he a Teflon candidate?

Consider what’s happened since he clinched the Democratic nomination and Hillary “suspended” her campaign:

• Obama flip flopped on his pledge to spurn private contributions and finance his campaign publicly – as long as his opponent did likewise. McCain said he’s willing and Obama flipped and said he’s not.

• The Democratic candidate was caught flat footed by the sudden spike in oil prices and even defended their high level, lamenting only that we had not been given a period of time to make a “gradual adjustment” to the higher price.

• McCain urged off-shore drilling, which Americans support, according to Rasmussen’s polling, by 70-19, while Obama said no.

• Obama urged that we give foreign terror suspects constitutional rights, including habeas corpus, and even implied that if we caught bin Laden, that’s how he should be treated.

• The head of the commission Obama set up to vet Vice Presidential candidates, Jim Johnson, had to resign after he was found to have gotten millions in sweetheart loans from Countrywide, the mortgage giant that is at the heart of the subprime scandal.

But you’d never know it from the polls. Rasmussen has Obama ahead by four, pretty much where he’s been for two weeks, and Newsweek showed him ahead by fifteen points.

How is Obama doing it? He’s got a defensive strategy based on jujitsu – using his enemies’ strength against him. Obama’s tormentors on the right keep invoking the crazy remarks of Rev. Jeremiah Wright and former terrorist William Ayers to convince people that Obama is some kind of sleeper agent, sent to seduce and destroy our democracy from within. Some wonder if he is really a Muslim masquerading as a Christian.

The more these extreme charges are leveled against the Democratic nominee, the less attention we focus on the very real radical positions that he has taken, grounds enough for a vote against him. The right is so busy pushing Wright and Ayers that it doesn’t have time to focus on what doubling the capital gains tax would do to the country or what weakening the Patriot Act would do to national security. In our new book, Fleeced, we try to spell out the policies that Obama espouses and call attention to the danger they represent. His economic programs would land us in a deep and long recession as he drove capital out by doubling the tax on it. His health care policies would pay for federally subsidized insurance for 12 million illegal immigrants, forcing the rest of us to wait in line for our health care – and often to be denied needed procedures because of “objective criteria” applied by federal regulators.

His comments about forcing anti-terror investigators to proceed as would regular criminal prosecutors ignores the fact that we do not seek to prosecute, but only to prevent terror attacks, and would burden our homeland security people, slowing them down so we get hit again.

There is so much in Obama’s record to criticize, and the right does him a service by vilifying him. You don’t have to believe that he is the Manchurian Candidate to realize that he would be way too liberal as a president.

Tell us what's so good about Juan
Any adman will advise you to sell your own merits, not keep obsessing about the rival product. Yet pretty well all I see here are flurries of often contradictory accusations about what a bad guy Obama is.

Knocking copy is not in the spirit of the times. Americans are getting sober. The stakes are high. Toto, we're not in the Nineties any more.

Get real. It's hard enough in good times preventing the pendulum swing after two full terms of one party, and these are not good times.

Suggesting that Bush screwed up so badly that it's too much of a risk in our current state to risk a change, when the continuity candidate is as uninspiring as Juan McAmnesty, will not resonate with Americans. They are desperate about the drift of the country (only one in six think it's on the right lines) and about their own and their kids' futures.

They will suspect that the GOP is keeping quiet about McCain's virtues because they are few, and that's how most of his natural supporters feel about him. For example, the Pew Survey shows that younger evangelicals afe fleeing the party and becoming unaffiliated.

Nobody but a wonk is going to rule out change and hope and all that jazz because of Bill Ayers or Tony Rezko. As the Newsweek and daily tracking polls indicate, Obama is beginning to draw away. Morris is just sweating the Beltway-insider trivia as usual.

And "liberal" is not an exorcism-word any more either.

America Wins!!!
Thank God. The end of American Imperialism is at hand. No longer will the White House be beholden to the agents of intolerance screaming 'liberal scum.' No matter who wins the election, whether it be Senator McCain or Obama our nation will enjoy four years of authentic bipartisanship. And as an added bonus, conservatives are gauranteed to be miserable through 2012. God bless America!

birth certificate
I am getting a kick reading over at No Quarter about the Obama birth certificate.....He may not have been born in America...interesting stuff.

No, just used 10-W-30
Oblahma is like 10-W-30 oil which has been removed from a car after 16,000 km (10,000*** mi for Yanks)--slippery and quite filthy.

***Generally, car manufacturers recommend changing every 4,800 km (3,000 mi), but many cars today can do 8,000 (5,000 mi)--I used double the "ultra-high mileage" amount.

Birth Certificate
Wasn't John McCain born abroad? Somewhere in Central America.

Obama has the MSM ..
... bloggers and yoots screaming "racist!" at any attempt to ask him any tough questions or dig into his qualifications. So, yea, I guess that would make him teflon.

yeah
But his father was an Admiral...not an Arab from Kenya.

by the Georgia gal.
His father and mother were US citizens. Not muslims, from Africa. Go to No Quarter...it is interesting...why will Obama not show his real birth certificate?

Also
Baracks Mom's ancestors owned slaves...since according to the SLC that Obama has no slave qualifications...I guess he has qualifications as being a slave owner....through his white parents.
Wouldn't he have to pay reparations to real 'slave blacks'.......!!!!

Presidential Temperament
Dear American Voters, reporters, media. professionals, political parties, and presidential Nominees,

Please plead and request the media, pundits, and politician's to "Compare And Contrast" " Presidential Temperament" of our Presidential presumptive nominees? as we do for the appointments for the Supreme Court Justices of Our Greatgrand Nation.

Yours truly,

COL. [retd] A.M.Khajawall
Disabled American Veteran
Forensic psychiatrist, Las Vegas

PS: Please talk about the " Presidential Temperament, Composer, Consistency And Caliber " is the key for our presumptive presidential Nominees. We do talk about the "Judicial Temperament" of our Supreme Court Justices nominees and so far we have failed to talk about the " Presidential Temperament " of our presumptive presidential nominees. The " Presidential Temperament " is the ultimate and in my opinion only requirement of our president as that effects every living soul here and around the world.

Thanks once again.

What's good about McCain?

First off, he's McCain; not Juan MAmnesty. Ceap jokes are like cheap shots; only tried by losers.

What's good?

1.) Pro Life
2.) Victory in Iraq
3.) Approved by NRA
4.) Conservatives on Supreme Court
5.) Low taxes, cut spending
6.) Will veto pork barrel & earmarks
7.) Has best energy policy for America

Will bring border enforcement, yet treat illegal immigrants as human beings.

There's Plenty to Throw at Obama...
...and make it stick. Reagan was teflon because he was charming and convincing. BClinton was teflon because...I'm not sure exactly why..but he was: charming and convincing to enough people, I guess.

Obama has currently charmed the socks off of the Europeans and many Americans are swooning in the streets over him. For them, he can do no wrong.

But for the Average Joe Sixpack voter? Hmmm....we'll see if they are so easily fooled.

georgia gal
Just to put your mind to rest.
McCain was born to U.S citizens on a mlitary base in Panama. This makes him a U.S. citizen born on American soil. Got it?

Will: You Could Be Right...
...when it comes to selling a product. Tout your own to the high heavens and never mention the competition. I don't know that it's a truism in politics.

Most voters end up voting for the lesser of two evils. In that case, it probably pays to demonize your opponent even in if it's presumably not in the "spirit of the times."

And there's just so darn much to demonize Obama about. Will it work? Time will tell. In the meantime we anti-Obamanites will have a bunch of fun. He's such an easy target.

YES, TEFLON AND FULL OF IT!
The illusionist strawman Obama has beguiled the easily led, with his smooth talking, propagandize gift of gab. They are the naive, smitten youth, the bias Afro-Americas who vote their Identity regardless, those without a mind of their own, misguided and spellbound, who haven't done their homework or see only the surface! What is more scary then the scary Obama is his worshipers and the Medias "blind acceptance" of the new-comer Rookies every unproven WORD! Now that the delusive Obamas smokescreen is clear -ing, maybe the Media, at least, will tell it like it is! I won't hold my breath! Democrat no more.

Sensitive Blacks are suppressing speech!
OBAMA THE UNITER? NEVER HAPPEN! QUITE THE CONTRARY, BECAUSE OF THE RACIST RANTINGS, MOSTLY BY THE DEFENSIVE AFRO-AMERICANS, WE ARE MORE DIVIDED! YES, THE "TEFLON" OBAMA SURVIVED THE REV.,WRIGHT SCANDAL AND HIS SELF-PITYING WIFES ANTI-AMERICA ATTITUDE, SO NOTHING WILL STOP HIM! THE MASSES HAVE TAKEN LEAVE OF THEIR SENSES! DO THEY REALLY HATE PRES.,BUSH POLICIES THAT MUCH TO SUPPORT THE DELUDED, WEAK ROOKIE? WHEN HE GETS THROUGH BANKRUPTING AMERICA ECT., BUSH WILL SEEM SUCCESSFUL IN COMPARISON! BE CAREFUL WHAT YOU WISH FOR! DISILLUSIONED DEMOCRAT

Blacks are suppressing speech!
WHAT HAPPENED TO MY "SENSITIVE BLACKS CENSOR SPEECH"? JUST CLOSED 5:30 FL,.

More like Bakelite than Teflon.
Hasn't had the heat transfer yet but is riddled with the danger of lurking fibers that'll get you later on, ... the day after the election.

You're right; Sen. Obama's danger to the Republic is his redistributionist socialism and radical anti war postures that are well announced and not sleeping in some pod.

Sen. Obama may appear immune at this moment to a political peeling back of the onion but that's only because those that are voting for the left are with him and those that are opposed to his type of 'promise' are with McCain and the undecided have not yet been sufficiently repulsed by his insincerity and inexperience.

When he's made to speak without a prompter, in a forum where he has to stand on his feet and speak and appear competent, then you'll see the sticky factor attach to him.

The middle of the country, the workers, the office bees, those that are not ideological will detest his inability to promote anything that resembles the America they want for themselves and families.

Additionally, Sen. Obama is not an attractive candidate. Let's move away from all this rock star myth. Sen. Obama is more Jughead than Bon Jovi. As soon as someone asks him a few select questions on Foreign Policy from Africa or any other region, he's going to look like a comic book figure. When asked to speak extemporaneously, he stammers and does the rolodex search for an answer that often isn't in the memory play book. It's more fluff than stuff between those ears.

We're still in a period where the persons taking sides are those that reside on one side or the other. Let's now go out and win the others.

What can someone say

when a candidate for POTUS exposes his bigotry with comments like "typical white person".

I hope Americans realize his bigotry and how a bigot in the White House is foolishness.

McCain is laying back
I can only hope that McCain is laying back. His task is straightforward and there will be lots of time to sort out OBs weaknesses. Once people take the time to understand the real OB, they will look past the fluff and vote against him.

GeorgiaGal 3:20 PM EST
"Wasn't John McCain born abroad?"

Yes, but it's ok; McCain is grandfathered in.

vonryan
From our grown-up perspective, Obama is obviously Jughead. But the rock star status will not go quietly in the dark night. In Europe he is all the rage. Fashion designers are apparently designing an Obama-look for women.

Of course, their press is more lib than ours, but Barack is the new Princess Di. I expect Elton John to compose a ballad any momemnt.

It's just like with Sinatra, Elvis and the Beatles: twitterpated 13-year-old girls swooning in the streets.

Will the adult American voter come to their senses? I guess it's our job to help them do it.

greasy teflon Puppet man..

Saying and doing everything scripted for him; to be all things to all people.. (including blacker than he really is) lol

Fortunately, there are Lots of politically non-sensitized real Americans out there, mostly busy working, who don't eat & breath beltway politics and manipulating polls.. who can see through a tax hiking, pro-abort, Marxist, Fraud when it is finally time to vote.

Just keep getting out the radical, flip-flppin Obama facts, inspite of the Biased Big Media & the Lib enabling anti-American gangsta billionair G.S.

my two cents
bo is teflon man so far but when us chinese get after him we'll get him - with FACTS

Sincerely,

10,000 Press Secretaries
Of course he's teflon ! His 10,000 press secretaries (Thanks, Sean!) in the MSM keep spraying him with non-stick coating !

It doesn't matter
It doesn't matter where you are born if you are born to American parents, you are a natural born American citizen.

Agree to a point
I usually have derogatory things to say about Dick Morris but he makes one very important point. This obsession with making inferences with respect to Obama and his personal associations is not going to resonate with the public at large. I say this in the context that Obama can simply say, and often does, that they do not represent his personal beliefs.

The simple fact remains however, that Obama did maintain these relationships with those of less than savory reputation and that is the context in which the questions should be asked. To perpetually replay the hateful screed of Rev. Wright and Father Pflegar, to point the finger at Tony Rezko for his misdeeds or cry Wolfe at the anti-American activities of William Ayers, is to shine the spotlight on everyone but Obama.

The case against Obama with respect to these figures of questionable allegiance to our founding principles, should be done on that basis. Each of these characters in Obama's past is a link to a mentality, mindset and set of actions that would not be tolerated in the person we elect as our president.

Discuss Obama's former peers, their actions, and their attitudes, the influence they had on young Obama, the impressions they left and what that would mean should Obama become the President of the United States. That I suspect would turn the tide against his messiahness.

Definitely
Oh yes, Obama is definitely teflon thanks to the leftist MSM who won't investigate him but would rather endorse, swoon, worship and adore him.

Anyone for eggs over easy?

Pax Americana: It Seems To Me....
...in the end it comes down to a dichotomy between the Right and the Heartland (McCain) who believe a strong America is God's (sometimes imperfect) blessing to the world and the Leftist academics(Barack and Michelle) who believe America's strength is a curse to the world.

Every principle of the Left seems to be designed to knock America down to size so that we will be just like any other country and quit causing trouble.

It's the old "white man's greed rules a world in need," liberation theology stuff. Most Americans ouside of academia are kind of clueless and can't put their finger on it, but they sense something's not quite right with the Obamas' feelings toward the country.

In Obama's circles, the misty-eyed love of country is considered gauche and cheesy--an embarrassment. The Wright/Pfleger/Rezko/OtisMoss/not-wearing-the-flag/not-putting-his-hand-on-his-heart/Michelle's-not proud-of-her-mean-country; God d. America picture is like an emerging polaroid.

You can't point to any one thing, but the con media has done a masterful job of bringing what's no doubt the real Obama before the American people.

Obama's pending indictment
Just check out Evelyn Pringle's series "Curtain Time for Barack Obama" at opednews. Particularly, the boards legislation Obama sponsored and shepherded through the legislature in 2003. That will get him indicted under 18 USC 1346 (same section under which Rezko was convicted).

The indictment should be coming down soon.

K.G.
As long as the media can keep scraping the dirt off him and cleaning him up,he will keep his poll numbers.

If they really looked deeply into his background and who is behind his candidacy, bleach or even acid wouldn't clean him.

I read today that he has spent a grand total of 143 days in the senate and he is experienced enough to be president? No way.

Someone thinks he is just unexperienced enough to do what THEY want him to do. I want to know who THEY are.

Obama is "notBush"
The reason nothing sticks to Obama, is that the voters aren't necessarily voting for him (except the blacks and the ultra-left netroots). They're voting against Bush and against the GOP.

I remember the 1980 Reagan campaign. Reagan had his share of gaffes too. And back then, doctrinaire conservatives were usually thought of as ipso facto extremists (think Goldwater in 1964).

Despite the public's misgivings, they so much wanted to throw out the incumbent (Carter) that all Reagan had to do was close the sale--prove he's neither stupid or crazy.

And that's the same situation with Obama today. The voters are looking for a change in leadership, and all Obama needs to do is close the sale.

When the incumbent's approval rating is below 30%, whether it was Carter in 1980 or Bush in 2008, you can expect a real sea-change in the next election.

for WLL
WLL writes: "They will suspect that the GOP is keeping quiet about McCain's virtues because they are few, and that's how most of his natural supporters feel about him."

McCain's virtues are many: War hero. Deeply patriotic--even his stint in the Hanoi Hilton didn't change that. Foe of Government corruption and excess. Has quite a conservative record, which the GOP base refuses to acknowledge because he angered them publicly: Pro-life. Supports strong national defense. Fought hard to restrain Government spending and waste.

And for all that, McCain is still a gentleman where it counts: Unlike today's hyper-partisans, McCain is from a time when Democrats and Republicans could be personal friends despite disagreeing on issues, and can even compromise on key issues to achieve progress. An earlier time when having a friend from the other party, such as Reagan having Tip O'Neill as a friend, wasn't regarded as "selling out."

How's that?

Correction
Make that inexperienced.

Rapper Robert
George Bush had experience as Governor,as you well kmow,Smartazz.

Dumbing Down America

***McCain is basically consistent but changes for the right reasons and especially when the public demands its voice be heard …..Obama is running on a message of CHANGE, because that’s exactly what he does, Changes his mind every single day, volleying attack after attack against McCain without offering any substance of his own…

And now what should be termed merely Pathetic, is now bordering on Criminal for the win at any cost Obama Propaganda by Main Stream Media. There is no Reporting just Supporting BHO, and its Criminal that the time when we need it most, a presidential election , the people who give us our daily factfind, abandon objectivity for subjectivity.

Obama disgorges reversal after reversal, gaffe after gaffe; AND NO MENTION OF IT. The Main Stream Media is clearly at war with the truth and sadly with the American people.

Voter Lingo All Over The Place
June 23, 2008

Dick: Your Fox appearance have always given me a sound education on political science from the street up so keep on keepin'on.I was in the process of reviewing your most interesting and informative article when I was suddenly taken aback by your referral to that old movie The Manchurian Candidate( I remember that movie as being related to the concept of a sleeper spy or mole as was the case in the UK during WW1). Usually a sleeper spy will have spent much time in foreign countries being indoctrinated with no supervision by the country he returns to in order to seek political power. Dick, I have to tell you, I have overheard individuals talking about The Manchurian Candidate and then speculating about the many potential outcomes of such an occurrence. I am mystified as to why this phenomena is so apparently important in 2008.

commonsenseunlimited

Rapper Robert
I have never heard of a Texian? Is that a new word? I have heard the word Texan.
If you say 143 days is equal to being the governor of the state of Texas,no matter how weak you say it is,you are just repeating more of your fairy tales. Liar.

You know 'your state constitution'....HA,you don't know jack.

Better than Teflon
Obama is not teflon. He's got better stuff.

First, he's black. Game over. Can't say anything about a black guy or you'll get in trouble. No GOP punk would dare. So they lose in November.

Second, he's got the American "educated" voter: a mouth breathing, fat walking can of body odor mongoloid product of incest who couldn't pour urine out of a boot with the instructions witten on the heel.

America today, Republic of Western Zimbabwe tomorrow.

Rappin' Robert
Another 'Texian' fairy tale,no doubt. The only thing you have changed is your alias about two dozen times, trying to stay on these threads where you at least learn something constructive.

Oh,and Robert, what is with the 29? Is that really your IQ?

tough week
its been a tough week for obama, although his poll numbers, according to the newsweek poll have gone up, not as the author states remained steady. on the other hand its been a great week for mvccain, he is still officially in the race.

For KG, vonryansexpress
I'll stick to my comparison of Oblahma with well-overused 10-W-30--as he's both slippery and filthy.

(come to think of it, the comparison also works with Bubba)

Rashid Khalidi
http://www.wnd.com/index.php?fa=PAGE.view&pageId=57231

Obama served on the board of the Woods Fund with Rashid Khalidi, a person who made statements supportive of Palestinian terror.

This is significant because both Obama and Rashidi worked together in the management of the same company , and that the terrorists whom Rashidi sympathizes with are still operating.

Obama Supports Total Handgun Ban
http://husaria.wordpress.com/2008/04/17/obama-supports-tota l-handgun-ban/

American Hunters and Shooters Association (AHSA, a front for anti-Second Amendment entities) is running an ad in Pennsylvania that says Obama supports the rights of hunters and shooters. “The Democrats and Gun Control” from the Wall Street Journal exposes Obama for the liar he is.

As a state senate candidate in 1996, Mr. Obama endorsed a complete ban on all handguns in a questionnaire. The Obama campaign has claimed he “never saw or approved the questionnaire,” and that an aide filled it out incorrectly. But a few weeks ago, Politico.com found an amended version of the questionnaire. It included material added in Mr. Obama’s handwriting.

Republicans: Confess and Atone for Bush
Until Republicans publicly apologize for George Bush and his remarkable combination of ineptitude and power lust they had better get used to losing elections.

Bush's manhandling of the budget, his mismanagement of a war, his willingness to do anything that compromises individual liberty and his stupidity have provided him, rightfully, with the worst approval ratings in history.

If Obama's past associations reveal him to be a wacko left winger then the Republicans' association with Bush reveal them to be supporters of big spending, big government and foolish, counter productive wars.

It's not that Obama is Teflon, it's that Bush is flypaper. Most of our problems - high oil prices , the destruction of the dollar, a stagnant economy, high inflation and rising unemployment are due to Bush's policies. As these problems worsen, the blame for them will be thrown at, and stick to Bush. Anyone standing near him will get caught in the barrage of blame.

For the Republicans: In November consider crawling on your knees in the snow and kissing the feet of everyone you pass as an apology for foisting on the American people the worst president since Truman. You have made inevitable the crowning of Obama, First Socialist King of America.

No Need for Teflon
The vast majority of those who support "osama" obama would continue to support him even if he walked into a joint session of Congress carrying an automatic weapon, ownership of which he opposes, and murdered every Republican in the building. They would support him, if following a US capture of osama bin laden, that "osama" obama would immediate demand his release, offer a full apology and give bin laden the $25 Million reward for his capture. They would support him if he demanded the termination of every border patrol agent and that INS officials be stationed along the US/spixico border in shelters to provide A/C, water, change of clothes, and transportation to whatever city the illegals DEMANDED to be delivered to. In other words, the only thing that would prevent most of them from supporting "osam" obama is if he began attempting to PROTECT the US and its citizens.

THE TEFLON, EMPTYSUIT NEEDS A REALITY #
THE CONCEITED, ARROGANT OBAMA IS AFRAID THAT THE CLINTONS WILL STEAL HIS THUNDER. SO FOGET ABOUT HILLARY BEING THE BEST CHOICE, ON THE TICKET, FOR THE GOOD OF AMERICA! HE WANTS ALL THE GLORY, WHICH HAS COME TOO EASY FOR THE ROOKIE NEWCOMER. HE NEEDS ALL THE HELP HE CAN GET BUT THE DELUDED OBAMA DOESN'T HAVE A CLUE JUST HOW "ILL PREPARED" HE IS TO HOLD THE MOST IMPORTANT JOB IN THE FREE WORLD! WHAT IS IMPOR-TANT FOR OUR COUNTRY AND WHAT HE WANTS ARE TWO DIFFERENT THINGS, TIME WILL TELL! DISILLUSIONED
