Will the Dems' health care Christmas Present to America be an improvement or detriment to our health care system?

If the bumper sticker of ’92 and ’96 (Clinton-Gore) divides, and we find Gore running against Hillary Clinton, Al Gore could not only beat the former First Lady for the Democratic nomination, he could win the presidency. Gore can seize this opportunity as the campaigns of Obama and Edwards are fading, out-fundraised, out-managed and outmaneuvered by Hillary’s campaign machine.

Al Gore – the newly minted Nobel laureate – could steal the nomination from Hillary’s well-oiled machine.

Here’s why.

He immediately demolishes Hillary’s two main claims to the nomination: her electability and her White House experience.

Gore has a proven record of being a vote-getter. Gore won the national vote in 2000, outpolling George Bush by 500,000 votes.

Hillary’s claims of being a proven winner are tenuous. She did prevail in her 2000 Senate bid – but only after Rudy Giuliani dropped out of the race at the last minute, citing his battle with prostate cancer.

In 2006, Hillary won an almost a practically uncontested re-election in 2006. Her opponent was Republican John Spencer, a valiant but poorly funded candidate. And remember, winning in blue state New York does not immediately translate into being a national winner.

Gore also has proven executive experience. Unlike Hillary, Al Gore actually played a major role in the Clinton White House.

The First Lady had little or no impact on public policy in the years after her health care fiasco cost the Democrats control of Congress and before the Lewinsky impeachment.

After the Monica case was uncovered, neither Clinton did anything of note in the realm of public policy-- so focused were they on fending off impeachment and keeping the presidency. Later, they were preoccupied with Hillary winning her Senate bid.

Contrast Gore with Hillary. Gore was, in fact, Bill Clinton’s go-to guy in the White House.

Every time an important task faced the Clinton Administration, Al Gore would step up and get the assignment.

By the end of the first Clinton term, Gore was responsible for policy in the following areas: science, space, Internet, family leave, television violence and sex, government efficiency and cost reduction, drugs, relations with Russia, air safety, tobacco regulation, and a myriad of other assignments.

Indeed, his vice presidency encompassed a very large segment of the Clinton Administration’s agenda.

Also, Gore’s Congressional and Senate tenures dwarf Hillary’s both in duration and achievement. The bottom line: Gore wins the “experience” issue.

On the matter of the Iraq war, Gore is more in sync with the Democratic base. The party’s left increasingly criticizes Hillary for her commitment to keep a residual troop presence in Iraq.

Meanwhile, Gore’s early and outspoken opposition to the war would offer a welcome haven for anti-war voters.

So far, Barack Obama has demonstrated an inability to get to Hillary’s left on the war and win over the party base. Obama has agreed with her about the need for an ongoing t roop commitment, something many Democrats find anathema.

Thus, Gore makes the logical place to turn for a real antiwar candidate.

Of course, climate change and global warming, the issue that brought Gore the Nobel, is his personal issue.

With a growing army of environmentalist voters, horrified at photos of polar bears searching in the Arctic Sea for ice on which to stand, Al Gore is not only an advocate. He is a prophet, now brought in from the wilderness.

Can Gore raise the money this late in the race? Sure he can.

By now, many of Obama’s donors must be getting anxious that their candidate isn’t going anywhere. His inability to sustain his early and successful fund raising pace suggests that that reality is beginning to dawn on the Illinois Senator’s donor base.

Gore need only to whistle and he will find Hollywood celebrities falling all over themselves in an effort to help him raise funds.

Gore’s own relationships with Democratic donors run deep and long standing. With environmentalists making up a large segment of Democratic Party money, Gore would quickly rise to the top of the fund raising list.

Does he have enough time to organize in the early primary states?

Gore’s late entry and national celebrity gives him an ability to avoid the micro-primary and caucus in Iowa and New Hampshire.

He can go focus on the big states of Michigan and Florida and come out ahead.

His national positioning and newly enhanced celebrity status will give him traction to overwhelm the organizational efforts of the other campaigns in these large states.

And Gore has one other major asset: it is very difficult for Bill Clinton to attack him.

Having chosen Gore as his Vice President, plucking him from the ranks of defeated presidential candidates (Gore ran and lost to Dukakis for the Democratic nod in 1988) , how can he say that he is not qualified to be president?

Having praised Gore lavishly throughout the 1990s, he will have great difficulty now persuading voters that his former running mate is not worthy of election.

Will Al run?

There are good reasons for him to stay out. He has been catapulted to international celebrity status, putting him on a level with Nelson Mandela, Lech Walesa, Vaclav Havel, and the Dali Lama.

So why should Al and Tipper once again go through the muddy trenches of American politics?

Gore knows he has a historic factoid on his resume, having won the the U.S. popular vote in 2000. Why risk it by perhaps losing a race for the nomination?

Gore has made clear he is motivated by substantive goals for the country and the world.

If he really does care about global climate change and wants to lead the world in stopping it – I believe he is sincere in this pursuit – what better way to make this happen then becoming president of the United States.

I have no doubt that Al Gore would be a very strong candidate and could defeat Hillary for the Democratic nomination.

At this point, Gore may be tempted to make the race. In his view, he wants to save the world. That’s a serious motivator.

Does anyone
remeber the Brady Bunch episode where one of the boys where entered into a icecream eating contest.
All the other kids came across as parodies and it was very unsettling for me as a young kid. A very creepy feeling that I'd been lied to and made fun of at the same time by people who should have known better.

That's the feeling I get when I see and hear Algore and his democratic leadership pals.

Hilary would clean Gore's clock
Yes, Gore could have defeated Hillary
had he been decisive early and started
early and raised the necessary money. But he played Hamlet and anguished over the prospect of running until Hillary had
all the money, power brokers and attendant machinery in place.

Were Gore to enter now, he would be
destroyed politically and also
personally. His ego is far too big to risk a loss to Hillary whom he despises.

I am sorry, but i must regretfully say that
Mrs Clinton will be our next president and her
philandering hubby will be our first "gentleman". What a laugh.

If she divorced the lout, and she has solid Biblical grounds, (Fornication)
I would have far less reservations about her
candidacy-notwithstanding her deplorable pro choice and pro gay rights beliefs. She wonbt risk her political capital on such stupid issues like her hubby did-she is far smarter than Bubba.

She is also far nore conservative than Edwards or Obama, and will move as fat to the right as she deems necessary to win election and re-election.

The saving grace is she has no core liberal or coinservative values-so if she needs to be conservative to win, no problem!

She really is NOT the ideologue some hysterical conservatives fear she is. She would bomb Iran in a heartbeat if her poll numbers began to sag.

Sadly, only Guiliani can best her-and he's very similar to her on most issues except spending. So he cannot and will not get the GOP nomination.

Result: Hilary will wallop Romney in the general election.

We need to focus our efforts on regaining the senate and thats very do-able-even without the perverted Larry Craig who will be replaced
with a conservative repub. we only need to win
two seats.

Dick tru colors
How can anyone take Dick Morris seriously, come on he of Hil vs Condi fame. The only reason he is tolerated by the right, fox etc, is because of his extreme hatred of the Clintons. Get over is dickie boy and move on to another aspect of your pathetic life

Al Gore Can Beat Shrillary?

I'll provide the stick, if I get to watch!

Reward Politicians For Telling Whoppers
is like giving the fox a prize for raiding the henhouse!

I guess the bigger the lie, the bigger the reward?

I think that instead of the Peace Prize, Big Al should have gotten the prize for FICTION!

alldull vs missus clinton
that these two personality challenged dolts have in common is how boring they actually are. But the wacko left could tolerate and would welcome alldull with open arms is the globull warming scam. They would have an issue they could all act concerned and caring about but not have to actually do anything. Plus their new high priest of mumbo jumbo, alldull, could provide lectures with slides of ice fields melting and polar bears drowning that would tug at the heartstrings of the leftist kooks. Should alldull run the left would drop the power mad missus clinton like a soiled diaper. The left hates bush but re-engineering society into a socialist paradise as envisioned by missus clinton will require more sacrifice than the kooks are willing to expend. But the fantasy of alldull running is all it will remain. Alldull is now a world-wide rock star. Millions hang on his every word and he can live like a rich potentate with acolyes graveling at his feet. Why settle for mere president where you would actually be expected to provide leadership and accomplish something when being a world-wide fraud has for more perks. The left would never abandon globull warming alldull, they would turn on him in a second if as president he ever went against the kooks agenda. Alldull wants love and adulation more than her craves the power to run america. Energy higfh priest only has benefits. The presidentcy is too much risk for alldull

Morris has always shilled for Gore
I am not a fan of Hillary.

Not only do I think Gore will not run for president, if he did, I am not at all sure he would beat Hillary.

Gore is even more an environmental fanatic than most other democrats, including Hillary.

If he were to run for president, his advocacy of Kyoto, along with some of his other radical positions, would present quite a problem.

Kyoto would result in lowering of the living standards of Americans. I am sure they will be kindly disposed to elect a candidate whose platform would lower their living standards.

Morris is a creature of Manhattan. Everything he needs or wants is there. It frames his perceptions of what Americans need to do on the environment. No need for gas guzzling automobiles, suvs or pick up trucks.

Trouble is, Manhattan, for all its excitement, does not represent the views of most Americans.

Morris ought to advocate the candidacy of his fellow Manhattanite Michael Bloomberg, whose values he probably shares.

Now if only I could find a restaurant that uses trans fat in its food preparation, or a smoking only section!

Global Warming Not Caused By Humans
For former Vice President Gore to be taken seriously, he'd have to talk about Yosemite Valley, the Columbia River Gorge and the Great Lakes. They were all formed by glaciers!! And this was long before the first SUV was ever driven or the first fossil fuels were burned. The massive global cooling and subsequent warming was caused by forces we have no control over, and certainly much more significant than the 0.5 degree Celsius increase we've seen over the past 70 years, more likely caused by an increase in heat output from the actual source of all heat as we know it...the sun.

Dick- Are You Smoking Pot Again?
You think the Clints' well-oiled political attack squad couldnt make micemeat out of a hapless, self-obsessed dummy like Sheik Al-Gore in one week?
Come on.

IF GORE RUNS

.....It will be against Hillary in 2012 after she delivers the death blow to the GOP in'08.....COLOSSUS

And all the GOP can sling
Al would descimate the GOP candidacy.

Who is the GOP more of afraid of than Edwards? Yes, of course: Al Gore.

One thing we could be sure of...
This time Al would finally get more electoral votes than Bush.

Al Gore Won't Run...
...because within 24 hours of submitting the paperwork, his lifeless body would be found at the same location, in the same position, with the same wounds, probably holding the very same 'suicide gun" ...

...as Vince Foster.

And even from the psychotic bubble of narcissism in which he lives, ...he can see that.

- MuscleDaddy

If you want your views taken seriously,
you would-be pundits should learn to spell words correctly.

Brien had me going for a second there...
...but no - I'm good.

- MuscleDaddy

Pu-leeze
Isn't one "legacy" in the race enough? The only beating of a Democrat I'd like to see would be with the business end of a baseball bat! You want to cut global warming like Al? Stop buying from China, the biggest polluter in the world! Ever been to Hong Kong? Pusan, ROK? How about lovely India? Manilla/Subic Bay, PI? Singapore? Africa? Don't talk about Kyoto and how BUSH is "The Great Polluter" until you see other countries messes first. Then you'll realize we have a pretty darn clean America!

MuscleDaddy got a laugh. Is he
the only one who checked? No offense was intended.

Our Choice: Pied Piper or Witch?
As a staunch Republican from a Republican family whose grandfather voted for Teddy Roosevelt I would much prefer Al Gore to the power-mad Clintons. Al Gore is dumber than the Clintons so would do far less damage than the Clinton juggernaut. How can we respect a woman who has been cuckolded by her husband so many times that we voters would have to hire an auditor to get the exact number of betrayals? We would all suffer from her malady, the psychodrama of "Hell hath no fury like a woman scorned." Even paying for AG's Global Warming cultism would be much easier than suffering four years with a vengeful, self-righteous witch in the White House!

Mixed Feelings
Does anyone remember the old joke classic definition of mixed feelings? It is watching your mother-in-law drive over a cliff in your brand new Cadillac. This is how I feel about the Al Gore-Hillary Clinton situation. The only good thing about Gore winning the Nobel Peace Prize is that it took attention off Hillary for 15 minutes. I can't stand either one of them and see both as poor choices for President. Personally I don't see Al going for it. He has too much of a good thing going with his global warming scam and basking in the glow of attention from his Hollywood friends. His main supporters would be those Democrats who can't stand Hillary but will vote for her because they have no choice. I must raise the point I have before that I don't understand where all her support is coming from. I have yet to talk to anyone who likes the woman. I suspect it is that Bush is so hated by these people that she is considered a good alternative in spite of all their misgivings. Of course you can rule out Obama and Edwards. They are going down in flames. My fellow conservatives I know most of us have concerns with Romney, Guiliani, McCain and Thompson. But we better find a way to rally around the Republican nominee(I believe he will be one of these 4) or come January 20, 2009 we will surely hear the words: President Hillary Rodham Clinton.

No balls Al

If Al was going to run, he would have wanted to redeem himself against Bush in 2004.

He did not run, and therefore he showed the world he has no fight or spine.

On the other hand, he would love to run and win, and then say he should have had it all along even though he did not have the balls to run against Bush in 2004. That is how spineless dolts brainwash the sheeple who follow them.

yes but.....but....but....
It's Al, and I despise him just as much as I despise Hillary. Well, I despise Hillary more, but needless to say, I want neither of them as president.

What I would like is for all to run as an Independant and take a large % of dem votes away from Hillary. He could be the proverbial Ross Perot that could help the GoP get into office again.

Get over it!
I just wish toe sucking Dick Morris would get over Hilary. Its pathetic! You can't have her and you obviously haven't been able to hurt her. Time to move on sourpuss!

Dick does not know Dick
How many times has Dick Morris been wrong in his political prognostications? Dick Morris Tax evader!

I agree with crumbsrmine above. Dick is mad at the Clinton's and he found a home on Fox news, which welcomes any liberal or Clinton brasher.

Sadly Dick M is soooo bad at his job and makes so many wrong predictions he can't even get on Bill-Oh's Spin Factor on Fixed Noise, I mean Fox News any more. Bill-O berates Dick about all the bets he has lost. If Bill-O makes better predictions than you, that's sad & pathetic.

For Gosh shakes he embarrassed himself with a book called Condi v Hillary. ha ha ha.

Condoleezza Rice for President? I'd love Condi to just be Secretary of State for once. Yes she is a scholar, Doctor, but she's no diplomat. She is a sycophant, enabler, co-dependant YES woman who kisses King Bush's throne.

No one buys Dick's books. No one goes on his web site. Not even Clinton haters & Lib basher's like a chicken s**t back stab'er like Dick Morris. GO AWAY! Become a used car salesman. You look like one.

NEWS FLASH:
Morris failed to pay his income tax. Connecticut Revenue Dept. listed Morris as the 7th largest delinquent taxpayer for 2007. Morris owes almost $ 1/3rd of million in unpaid taxes, delinquent for years. Why did he hide in Florida. Nice in war and evading taxes. True Conservative. Taxes are for the poor people.
