Will the Dems' health care Christmas Present to America be an improvement or detriment to our health care system?

Alas, we have just passed another marker on the way down. That's "we" as in "We, the people," and that's "down" as in "glug, glug."

This marker will stand as a testament to the savage zeal with which our mainstream media -- gentlemen (hah) and gentlewomen (double hah) of the Fourth Estate, cosseted darlings of the Free World standing ever-vigilant to ensure that truth will out (hah hah hah) -- have sunk their teeth into the Palin family.

What started on or about Labor Day and has continued ever since, is what's known as a media "feeding frenzy," a condition of non-abating bloodlust for political prey (usually conservative political prey) that is strikingly similar to the agitated state of piranhas in a tank at feeding time. Top McCain strategist Steve Schmidt recently told Washington Post media critic Howard Kurtz that this was the worst feeding frenzy he'd ever seen. I agree and -- if I might flash some old-timer credentials -- I covered the GOP convention in 1988 when Dan Quayle was the bait and Don Kowet, then-media critic for the Washington Times, typed out the phrase "feeding frenzy," giving it a new and enduring currency. In Schmidt's interview with Kurtz, which Kurtz described as "extraordinary" and "emotional," Schmidt explained what it was like to be on the receiving end such an attack.

"The campaign has been inundated by hundreds and hundreds of calls from some of the most respected reporters and news organizations," Schmidt said. "Many reporters have called the campaign and have apologized for asking the questions and said, `Our editors are making us do this, and I am ashamed.'"

What Schmidt went on to relate explains why. The questions have come in, wave after wave, asking, as Kurtz wrote, "whether (Sarah) Palin is really the mother of a 4-month-old baby, whether her amniotic fluid has been tested, and whether she would submit to a DNA test to establish the child's parentage."

More questions: Is Sarah Palin the grandmother of Trig Palin, the 4-month-old born with Downs syndrome, and is her 17-year-old daughter Bristol the mother? Will Trig Palin's birth certificate be made available to the media? Exactly when last April did Sarah Palin go into labor, and did her contractions increase or decrease as she traveled home from Texas to an Alaskan hospital to give birth? And about eldest son, Track Palin, who serves in the Army and is about to deploy to Iraq: Is he a drug addict?

But just think: It was only last week that Barack Obama not typing up his acceptance speech on a computer but instead, as one big league paper put it, "crafting it by hand on a yellow legal pad" passed as news. So what happened to jolt the media from its Obama-PR snooze? The answer is Sarah Palin, rising like Venus on a King Crab Shell, her shiny political luster suddenly casting shadows over the Election Day apotheosis of media deity Barack Obama. In other words, last week's media torpor and this week's journalistic wilding are part of the same phenomenon: the media's uncontainable passion to elect Barack Obama.

I say this having mentally stacked the questions the media have already asked Palin in two days -- intrusive and pointless questions -- against the glaringly obvious questions the media have never asked Obama in two years. Schmidt noted that "the media is asking more questions about Palin's pregnant daughter" than about Tony Rezko, the Chicago fixer and Obama patron recently convicted on corruption charges, but that's just the first item on a long list of passes the media have given Obama, passes on vital matters of character, judgment and political belief.

These range from the media's protective hesitation on his long-term relationship with former Weather Underground leader William Ayers, to their near-total absence of interest in his recent campaign choice for Muslim outreach, a young man with affiliations to not one, but four organizations with ties to the Muslim Brotherhood.

(The man, Mazen Asbahi, resigned in early August after one article about him appeared in the Wall Street Journal. A national security source of mine is still shaking his head in disbelief over ensuing media disinterest in this shocking story.)

More recently, Daniel Pipes put together a must-read survey of attitudes toward Obama throughout the Islamic world -- there is a widespread assumption that Obama would make a pro-Islamic president despite equally widespread confusion over his official status in Islam -- which would provide any Obama campaign reporter with plenty of material on which to base a discerning interview on the long-term strategic implications of this reality.

But no one, and I mean no one, is taking the bait. And certainly not now. Not when a conservative Republican woman's amniotic fluid is in the water.

That just shows
to go ya......the MSM really IS the Fifth Column that is out to destroy these United States. They need to be treated as traitors and if not arrested, at least shunned. They are not fit to shine Mrs. Palins' shoes. They want Obama elected so that the socialist marxist agenda that the left pushes can be fully embraced without trying to hid it.

The lies they have brayed out to the public are simply outrageous and beyond common decency. They are not interested in the truth only in advancing the agenda of those jealous of America, our freedom and our way of life. It is just sad that so many Americans believe what they write. They're being suckered into a life of misery.

Fox News
Those of us who prefer Fox News (O'Reilly, Cavuto, Hannity, etc) sometimes wonder what you journalists are talking about. Yet, after all, we know what's out there--sort of.

At all events, we Joe and Sue Citizens know leadership when we see it. And the people in Ohio and Michigan who are hurting, they too will know leadership when they see it (at least, I hope so).

But the confusion, the flashpoints, the circus, the exponential-almost-Shakespearean hype, larger than life and larger than reality...to be honest, I share in it in a conflicted way. Why? Because I worry about what I saw on TV today, my day off from a slave-labor, low-paying job: Michael Scheuer pointing up with great knowledge just how our foreign policy feeds right into the praying hands of UBL.

Daniel Pipes, if you see this, What is your answer to Michael Scheuer and Company?

I call BS
I just google news searched for ("Track Palin" Drug Addict)and got only one hit, guess what it was? This article.

I have heard nobody make any suggestion that he is a drug addict, or any link between Track Palin and drug addiction, other than Schmit.
That is pretty low, creating a rumour about your own VP candidates son being addicted to drugs to try and score some points on the other side.

On top of that, I heard no reputable news source reporting with any seriousness the bogus nonsense about Trig's parentage. A few mentioned that there was rumors on lefty blogs about it, which is no different to the many mentions in the MSN I have seen about the Obama/Muslim rumors.
I doubt highly that "hundreds and hundreds" of the nations best reporters and news sources have asked about this. BS

And lastly, I'm sick of this suggestion that the MSM exposed Palin's daughters real pregnancy. I heard nothing about it anywhere until after the McCain campaign put out the press release. What do they want? To put our a press release but have the press not report it?

Did you
like Schmidt talk with the reporters also? It's amazing you know so much of what went on in the conversations he had with these reporters.
Shows how stupid these media types are, the
military is very careful to screen out drug addicts like the cocaine snorting Barack ZERObama.
Funny, you didn't mention about his connections with Mazen Asbahi and HIS affiliations. And while it wasn't clearly indicated, what about the endorsement he got from HAMA? HMMMMMMM!
No instead the media fools go after and cruelly attack a 17 year old girl, one of thousands and thousands that have made that mistake going back to the world following the eviction from the Garden. That's one thing, leftys are ALL
heart..out to destroy a young girl because she
DARED to defy the high priest of Abortion..ditto the mother for daring to keep
a baby, ZERObama would loved to have been put in a dirty linen closet to die alone.

Well, Tea Party,
we all know how preoccupied with and reduced to irrelevancies the self-appointed "elite" media are: they're more interested in Bristol Palin's sex life than they are with BO's associations and ties.

Tells us a lot about where their treasures are!

This Thought Just In
As I read this article, a striking thought occurred to me. Just who and what does the media think it is? Do they believe they have some sworn and sanctioned authority to demand everything from classified documents to the most personal records of private individuals?

The media has granted unto itself, legal, jurisdictional and investigative authority for which there is no binding law, code or statute. Let me be perfectly blunt. It is about damn time the tell the jack-booted media to go straight to hell.

Kieron: Are you an idiot???

Did West say there were articles?

NO! No she did not!!!

She said that there were countless calls and inquiries made...

How about a remedial reading course?

I call YOU BS!

DanNV: Agreed!

There are a LOT of things that truly are on a "need to know" basis.

Just about 100% of all this "stuff" falls in just that category, and know what????

We DON'T NEED to KNOW because it's none of our business!

I'm disgusted
I was already fed-up with the media actively campaigning for one candidate. Even in the Democratic primary, they openly campaigned for Obama over Hillary. But the treatment of the Palin family and the absolutely disgusting attacks on them has led me to decide to never watch, listen to, or read anything produced by the mainstream media again. This includes for my family all television programming including dramas and comedies (full disclosure I barely watched TV anyway). Everything they do has an agenda even so-called entertainment and I have better ways to spend my time.

As for the reporters who are ashamed (don't ask the questions) they should try living with real moral principals.

Conservatives are hypocrites
So Sarah gets some justifiable criticism, and the Republicans pull out the gender card. Funny, though, a few months ago, when Hillary was getting blasted, Dick Morris said if Hillary doesn't like the heat, she should "pick up her toys and go home." But now he says the Dems are sexist cuz they're being mean to wittle Sarah! Boo hoo!!

Bill O'Reilly, Rove, and Sarah herself made similar hypocritical remarks. See the following for details:
http://www.thedailyshow.com/video/index.jhtml?videoId=18408 6&title=sarah-palin-gender-card

Amazing
Well I for one was astonished that Gov. Palin was willing to subject her loopy family to national scrutiny. I'm sure that's just what her pregnant teenage daughter wants to be: fodder for late night talk show hosts, tabloids, internet gossip. NPR called her "the most famous unwed pregnant teenager in the country" today. Nice going, Governor. Put your career ahead of your kid's privacy!

Oh Jeffrey: It's the very ones, such as

yourself, who are complaining and criticizing Gov. Palin, who are the ones actually doing the savaging of her and her family.

If you're so concerned about about what YOU ALL ARE DOING to her and her family, then STOP IT!

jeffery
Anne's right, but I personally think that you are a jackass.
If she didn't, the MSM; miserable sociopath minions; would have accused her of not bringing her family, abanding them ,etc.
The family values scandel.
"you're an embezzel, what amaroon, what an ultra maroon"
"I'm the NRA and I vote"

Exactly
We all know how the media are. So what should have happened is she declined McCain's offer to run with him so long as she had a pregnant unwed teenager at home who doesn't deserve to get dragged through the mud. Palin is only 44 years old; she's hardly qualified anyway. Four more years and she'd be hardly only, and much more experienced. Maybe she was afraid to acquire a record. So she threw her eldest daughter overboard to the sharks. Quite a maternal instinct. Shameful. I guess she's not the "aw shucks", homespun gal she's being made out to be.

Media Sharks
President politics has always been a full contact sport. You basically swim with sharks and always risk being caught in the middle of a feeding frenzy. There is nothing fair or good about ground zeri in a feeding frenzy, but that is the risk she took when she jumped into the water.

Khan is so right
And Gov. Palin's daughter and her boyfriend have paid a huge price: their privacy totally invaded, their dignity stripped away. It's tragic. And to think a mother would perpetrate this on her daughter. Wild.

Media Backlash
I have had it with the media pushing their agenda down our throats! We need to start a movement to take back our news media. A free society needs a truthful press. Not a press that presents a story the way they WANT it to be. We want just the facts.

Newt started a movement with "Drill Here, Drill Now." Well, we need somekind of a movement to expose media organizations that are not reporting "just the facts." I have had it with a media that spreads lies and distortions, and then hides under the mask of it being news. They start rumors and then report the rumors as fact.

I have one of Newt's Drill Here, Drill Now bumper stickers on my car. There is plenty of room for another bumber sticker that says ..."MSNBC, NBC, ABC, CBS, PBS...YOUR SOURCE FOR THE LATEST LIES AND MISINFORMATION."
Are they in circulation yet?

Jeffrey whines: "And Gov. Palin's

daughter and her boyfriend have paid a huge price: their privacy totally invaded, their dignity stripped away. It's tragic."

Yeah, it is tragic, isn't it???

And to think the MSM is so despicable as to do such a thing as to purposefully and needlessly INVADE anyone's private life, and strip away their dignity.

Now, who exactly is at fault for what the MSM has done... How about the MSM, and people such as Jeffery?

Don't sweat the small stuff.
What do you expect demothugs and their media enablers to do when they oh so suddenly encounter an obstacle on what appeared to be a smooth path to power?

When I learned that McCain had picked Palin I was simply relieved he had not picked Romney, Ridge or Lieberman. Then I watched her speech, and I knew I was seeing a future president, and one we will need in times which, believe it or not, are going to be even more troubling than the present.

Blaming the Gov?
I am amazed at the opinion of those that balme Gov. Palin for exposing her daughter to public scrutiny. This has been an active issue in Alaska for a while now with disgusting political opportunists taking shots at the Palin family. It is not like she was working in some obscure office someplace. She is the governor of one of the 50, (yes, really, just 50), states. Furthermore, blaming the Palins for the media frenzy over a minor daughter's indiscretion is a bit like blaming a rape victim for being too attractive. The criminal is responsible for his or her actions as is the media and each reporter resonsible for theirs.

They are destroying themselves
This audacious bad behavior by the drive-bys will come back to bite them squarely in the buttocks. You have to believe that the great undecided vote out there is noticing the savagery with which they are attacking a family’s private business, and is being repulsed by it.

Fear not. We now have an alternative media, which is setting the record straight just as fast as the scummy left-wing blogosphere can twist it, and, for good measure, is exposing the left’s soulless inhumanity to the world. The American people are coming to understand that the attacks on the Palin family are way beyond the bounds of civility. Soon, now that we have their attention, they’ll begin to ask questions such as “So what about this Bill Ayers fella?” When they do, God help the ObamaNation campaign. (I’m kidding about that last one; I see no reason for God to come to the aid of Barack Obama.)

Jeffrey
Perhaps we haven’t made ourselves clear enough, so here it is, straight up: Bristol Palin’s personal life is none of your g*dd@mned business. The fact that the drive-by media is making it their business illustrates how out-of-control they’ve become.

You know, a free press can only survive as long as it exercises a little responsibility. If it fails to do that, reasonable people will demand that restraints be put on them. If that happens, we are on the slippery slope to places better not talked about. Therefore, it is better for everybody if it is understood that the journalism of personal destruction is out of bounds, even if it deprives you loser leftists of your primary form of entertainment.

It's All They Have
We should not be kind in the condemnation of the DNC running-dog lackeys’ attacks on Sarah’s credibility: after all, It's All They Have. It just sux to be a Democrat right now: no real ideas, no fathomable spirituality, and no safety nets under the platform. Surviving the media warthogs is the least of Mrs. Palins’ worries, I think, because the cattiness of the femi-nazi is just getting warmed up. Next, from the worst of them in The View, we’ll hear that her shoes don’t match her skirt (by the way, did you notice that at the GOP acceptance speech last night that a pantsuit was not present?) or, perhaps the media darlings will endlessly discuss the temerity her second youngest daughter displayed to kiss and play with her baby brother when she should have been listening to the speeches: but then, after all, It’s All They Have.

“My friends don’t be distracted by the brown noise and static.” – John Mc Cain, RNC Convention Sept 4, 2008 when protestors tried to interrupt his acceptance speech
McCain/Palin ’08 - See You at the Polls!

On the nail oldman
I've thought for a long time that LSM are like cornered rats (especially as I was raised in Canada's only rat-free*** Province, Alberta)

***designation doesn't include the 2-legged variety, as evidenced by erstwhile Alberta Premier Donald Ross Getty.

Did You HEAR

what happened to NObama this past Thursday morning???

He awakened with a moose's head in his bed!

Sorry, I just couldn't resist!

Now that you admit you love Sarah Palin, have you put your money where your mouth (and heart) are, and sent a check to McCain/Palin? I did! Go to http://www.johnmccain.com

NObama is very flush with cash to slam and slander them in the coming weeks before the election. Do SOMETHING to stop him! Do it NOW!

Speaking for the MSM and leftists

as I understand them, what is the big deal? She is just a 17 year old girl with no importance to the world. Why should we care if we destroy her and her child if it advances the Messiah's "Barry the Bloviator's" cause? We support killing innocent and defenseless preborn children all the time and now we should be concerned about the welfare of a teenage mother? We are not even suggesting she be killed!!!

How did I do? Does that sound like the MSM and Barry's followers?

Bristol's Pregnancy
The MSM has played this up because they believe they will stir up a Christian backlash against McCain because his running mate's daughter made a mistake. They have miscalculated badly. The Christian Right sees the situation for what it is. Rather than compound her error, Bristol made the hard, courageous, and right choice to have this baby. THAT's what the Christian right sees, not her prior mistake. As to Bristol's relationship with her boyfriend, I am sure it will face far tougher trials because of the visibility her family has now achieved. Whether she and her boyfriend can withstand that is an issue of character. So far, we have seen that Bristol has character in that she made the right decision regarding the baby. Her boyfriend seems to have character in that he "manned-up" and is doing the responsible thing.
I am also sure, however, that the MSM will scrutinize them as they never seem to do liberals.
I am a veteran (something Obama and Biden cannot really relate to), and while I have some differences with McCain, I am confident that McCain/Palin is our only choice. The nation was badly harmed by Carter, and an Obama administration would be the equivalent to Carter II.
Pray for McCain / Palin '08, and pray for Bristol, her beau, and the outstanding Palin family as well!

Shark Tank
Since Obama-lama-ding-dong "decreed" that Gov. Palin's children were off-limits there's been all kind of blood in the water. The press can't say anything remotely 'racially insensitive' i.e. Biden's "clean and articulate" remark about Barrack---but its no holds barred on Palin! The kid gloves the press use with Obama-lama better last a long time if he gets elected. They should be careful...the press could accidentally make Palin the Joan of Arc to Barrack's Messiah. I'd be happy if the media wasn't so visably afraid of Sen. O!
