The Pentagon Mantra: PC Trumps Security?

Will the Dems' health care Christmas Present to America be an improvement or detriment to our health care system?

The year is 1942. The place, the Pentagon. A Berlin-born aide to the U.S. deputy secretary of Defense has learned that a military intelligence officer has not only read Hitler's "Mein Kampf," but is lecturing senior officers about Hitler's heretofore unexamined goals of world domination.

This schweinhunt must go. At least, that's what the German-born staffer thinks. Did I mention he's fluent in German? That's partly why the deputy secretary of Defense relies so heavily on his aide's judgment on all things German, particularly when it comes to the War on Nazism's German outreach program. This program brings Nazi apologists into the inner sanctum of the American war machine ...

Sound crazy?

Travel forward to 1973. The deputy secretary of Defense's Soviet-born, Russian-speaking aide is gunning for the one intelligence officer who has boned up on Marx, Engels and Soviet military doctrine. Why? Because the officer refuses to "soften" his brief on communist ideology, and is presenting it to the military leadership -- now hearing it for the first time since the Cold War began. If communist plans for global domination become common knowledge, the aide realizes, gazing thoughtfully at a blown-up photo of Soviet mouthpiece Vladimir Posner on his office wall, the Pentagon will surely change strategy and halt the USSR outreach program, which gives commie symps Pentagon access ...

Totally outlandish, right?

Once upon a time, yes. But this month, the Washington Times' Bill Gertz reported on a not entirely dissimilar real-life version of such fictions, the termination of Maj. Stephen Coughlin (USAR). Coughlin, a lawyer and reserve military intelligence officer, has been the Pentagon's sole specialist on Islamic law charged with lecturing senior officers on jihad doctrine -- military leaders who have been fighting the so-called war on terror for years without an inkling of Islamic ideology. His contract with the Joint Staff will end in March, Gertz wrote, because Coughlin "had run afoul of a key aide" to the Deputy Secretary of Defense Gordon England.

That "key aide" is Cmdr. Hesham Islam (USN ret.), an Egyptian-born, Arabic-speaking Muslim whom Gordon England describes as "my interlocutor" and "personal, close confidante." According to Gertz, England's interlocutor and confidante confronted Stephen Coughlin seeking "to have Mr. Coughlin soften his views of Islamist extremism."

Note the irony in this choice of words. "Islamist" and "extremism," like "Islamofascism" and other euphemisms, are words that draw a PC curtain over mainstream Islam. They effectively shield the religion and its tenets from the scrutiny necessary to assess the ideology driving our jihadist enemies. Of course, lifting that PC curtain on Islam and its jihadist tenets is precisely the affect of Stephen Coughlin's Pentagon brief. It goes against what political correctness tells us; it also goes against what Islamic advocacy groups tell us.

For example, Ingrid Mattson, president of the Islamic Society of North America (ISNA), is someone who advocates decoupling the word "Islamic" from the word "terrorism" for discussions of, well, Islamic terrorism. Why do I mention this? ISNA is a group that has been strenuously "outreached" by Gordon England's Pentagon even as the Justice Department has officially labeled it a branch of the Muslim Brotherhood. Wonder if England ever thought much about the large picture of Mattson -- head of what Justice has said is an MB front organization -- hanging amid the photos on Hesham Islam's office wall.

What Hesham Islam wanted from Stephen Coughlin was a softer interpretation of Islamic law and jihad, and, as Gertz reported, in the process he slurred Coughlin as "a Christian zealot or extremist `with a pen.' " Now Coughlin is out.

This high-level effort, in effect, to deny the connection between Islamic law and what the military calls the "enemy threat doctrine" should ring bells, not just in the military, but in Congress, which obviously has Pentagon oversight responsibilities. And what about the FBI? When a citizen is denounced as a "Christian zealot or extremist" shortly before his government contract is dropped, has a civil rights violation occurred?

More questions. Why is the deputy secretary of Defense engaged in Muslim "outreach" in the first place? And how good (safe) is his "outreach" advice if, to name a couple of examples, it brings ISNA into a bizarro relationship with the Pentagon, and sends a longtime apologist for assorted terrorists, Muslim Public Affairs Council's Salam Al-Marayati, on a Pentagon-sponsored trip to Guantanamo Bay? When such advice brings the military's woefully belated education on jihad to a halt, it becomes shockingly clear that the Pentagon is more concerned with political correctness than protecting the nation.

Let's wish WW 3 away
It takes 2 to tangle. We'll stop tangling.
If we just lie there inertly, it won't be rape.

I don't
know whether to laugh or cry. I think I'm living in an alternate universe.
and the sad part is, so what if we do demand answers, our do nothing Congress will do.....nothing.

What's in a name?
Barack Hussein Obama. (Do you know Louis Farrakan? What is your relationship? Are you really a Christian? Why won't your "christian" church admit white members? Isn't that racism?) Oh, yeah, CHANGE is me. My bad.

Mr. England's head is lodged in his a$$
Mr. England and his Islamist apologist confidante should be fired post haste and Coughlin should be rehired.

No wonder our military is struggling against Islamic jihad. Officials at the very highest levels of our government still believe Islam is a religion of peace.

Old News
This was posted on jihadwatch last week and since there have been many updates. I encourage you to check them out.

One thing you all have to understand is don't let your love for the US military blind you to reality. I am an active duty mil member. What the article here reflects isn't an exception to the rule, it is the rule. The military is just as PC as anything else. From muslim sensitivity training to not profiling terrorists (except if they are "home grown," then its OK to portray them as right-wing, gun-toting, anti-guvmint Christian nuts) to having to politicize life and death decisions, the military is a PC nightmare.

All I'm saying is when the jihad comes to America don't expect "Sgt Rock" to be there to help. Get ready now.

For Crusader 95
Thanks for confirming what I had suspected -- the military, like the state department is dangerously PC.

My love for the U.S. military begins and ends with the guys on the ground, in the air and on deck dodging hot lead.

Thanks for your service.

Fight
I appreciate it. :)

True story
When I was a boy, one of the formative aspects of my childhood was a close friend of my parents', who was a retired USAF colonel, lifelong flyer, and wartime fighter pilot (WW II and Korea, P-51s and F-86s). His wife, who was like an aunt to me, had spent "The Big One" in D.C. as an intel analyst at the War Department. (She was alinguist who spoke several languages fluently, including German, Japanese, and Russian.)

While there, early in 1942, she was "interested" to learn that not only "Mein Kampf", but its Japanese counterpart, the "Tanaka Memorial", had been available virtually from the time they were published. Considering that the Tanaka Memorial was a "confidential memo" to the Japanese military command staff, this speaks well of our pre-war intelligence-gathering efforts.

She was even more "interested" to learn that no one at the policy-making level at the State Department had bothered to read either one before 7 December, 1941. In fact, anyone at War who suggested doing so to anyone at State had been accused of "saber-rattling".

As she put it, "Rattling a saber in its scabbard makes noise. Drawing the damned thing doesn't."

Yes, she was born and raised an "Army brat".

Maybe we need more "military brats" at our policy-making levels today.

Bush Asks Saudi King to Open Oil Spigots
Is this not how we go into this mess?

ABCNEWS-Perino added, “This is not a situation that’s going to be solved overnight, and that’s why on a parallel track the president has been pursuing aggressively alternative and renewable forms of energy.”

When Bush ran for the White House in 2000, he said that he would “jawbone” America’s Saudi allies to lower the price of oil. The price of oil has hit a record of $100 a barrel, but has slipped to a current price of $91 a barrel on fears that the U.S. economy is headed for a recession.

P.C. Military
Having been affiliated with the miliatry in the early 1990's, I don't believe that it is PC by choice (certainly not the soldiers/marines I knew), and it has only evolved in recent years - perhaps starting with Viet Nam anti-war influence that bordered on propaganda (ie: embedded liberal media and and the likes of Kerry's congressional report), and then became full-blown via the Clinton administration. That's just an uneducated observation. This certainly didn't seem to be an issue in WW II.

Coughlin's firing
Don't expect the right leaning liberal PC lackey's on talk radio such as Hannity, Medved, Limgaugh, Bennett and the like to tell you anything about all the PC nonsense occurring in the Bush administration in regards to Islam.

The problem is as bad as Bush, Rice and the birdbrains that I just mentioned above are when it comes to identifying the true enemy - Islam - the Democrats are even worse.

For an update on the Coughlin story and a possible congressional investigation go to:

Boutte: re Ron Paul
I'm a reasonably intelligent 74 year old, of the generation taught to listen and analyze, and I find Mr. Paul to be good at being angry and frequently not making sense.
Furthermore (and of course others may differ) generally - but not always - I've been supportive of this administration's views and actions.
As for pardoning people, GWB will be able to pardon many more if he so wishes.
Look at all the criminals Clinton pardoned, many of whom clearly shouldn't have been pardoned....and Libby was no criminal.

MORE PC?
Diana,

Very interesting. I also think that you might consider extending this investigation to our new Chairman of the Joint Chiefs who advocates an improved “image” of the U.S. worldwide, by closing Guantanamo (to be PC). I don’t think that our image should be of any overriding concern of his, but only our Defense. Is his PC trumping our Security?

When the obvious is Suppressed
One need not speak the actual languages, or have had a "top tier" education, to undertand the very precise words of those threatening to destroy any who stand in their way or fail to obey their religiously inspired mandates.
I do not want America in a war to save Israel. However, if we fail to help that nation when tyrants of religious fascism try to "wipe them off the face of the earth," all we will have done is embolden them to try elsewhere.
In the end, the world is heading toward another world war. This one will leave such destruction in its path, that the very survival of mankind will be in doubt.
Appeasement of those who demand others do as they believe or say, will mean those making deamnds will think they can demand anything. And there are those who would give in to them, foolishly thinking that will save them.

PC is a corruption meant
to eliminate the influence of Western freedom and emphasis on individual achievement and any form of Christianity from affecting the world.

And, actually, Hitler laid out in Mein Kampf exactly what he would do as a dictator that included "camps" and Jews as "untermeschen"--meaning less than human.

"Islamofascist" is a lovely and precisely descriptive term that does not include all Islam, but those claiming Islam as their religion who want to conquer and subjugate all non-Muslims in order to dictate for the entire world their version of the caliphate and Sha'riah law.

Tin Ears at the Pentagon
Ms. West's article is noteworthy for expanding the context of Bill Gertz's reporting. This repitition of history is frightening. What is more frightening is that the same creeping Muslim influence and political incursions that have sent Europe spinning toward the drain are begining to show up here and this circumstance with Mr. Coughlin is a perfect example.

Will Eurabia transit the Atlantic to become USArabia? It will without heroic viligence and a commitment to abandon political correctness and deal with the truth.

Well done Ms. West, please do more!
Dennis Landry
xdel@cox.net

Far more pervasive than only Pentagon.
Why would anyone be surprised by Diana West's article?

What happened to Coughlin simply is consistent with official policy.

Is not our entire policy on the threat of "Islam" derived from the assumption that only a miniscule segment of the religion our president so charitably describes as "that great and peaceful religion", the issue here? For those who must wear politically correct blinders, who must continue the charade, perhaps the terms "Islamofascism", or Islam extremism", can be substituted for "Islam"....cough.

So why would our military be any different? It is part of our government.

To be sure, this politically correct nonsense did not begin with the Bush administration. But it is in power now, and enthusiastically endorses it.

In many parts of European cities today, practitioners of that "great and peaceful religion of Islam" have declared their neighborhoods be ruled by Shariah law, not the law of the host country. Police are either threatened or actually attacked when entering muslim neighborhoods by these peaceful practitioners.

Of course the p.c. crowd here in the U.S. says that will never happen to us.

Given time and the increase of muslim immigrants, I would not bet the house, or country, on it.

Rubicon, that is a good question. I don't know if our nation should go to war on behalf of Israel either. Israel is a good ally...but war, placing the lives of the American people, and placing our cities in jeopardy...on behalf of Israel, I just don't see it.

Maybe I need to be enlightened. Who knows?

BUT, unlike some on this board, I have absolutely no illusions about the nature or threat of Islam.

Koran Is The Problem
Terrorism is a Muslim problem. Only Muslims can solve this problem. However there are very few Muslims willing to do this. It is time to stop all new Muslim immigration and visas, especially from Saudi Arabia.

When the so called "moderate" Muslims solve the problem of the Koran mandating terrorism for alah, then we can reconsider. Until then, let them stay in the stink hole countries these terrorists come form.

It is also time to put a mole in every mosque in the west. Lets find out who is preachimg jihad.

Political Correctness, and those that
espouse it. Are the true enemies of freedom. I have very little, if any, respect for those that enforce, or follow such an anti-freedom stance.

Government bureaucrats will be the downfall of our nation, and the lessening of civilization in the rest of the world. But why caring on, when the obivious is so apparent.

Jerabaub
To say we shouldn't go to war because of american lives is foolish. The Islamfacists won't stop at Israel if we sit back and watch. IF and I mean if, because israel is one powerful country compared to the rest of the middle east, Israel is destroyed they will come after us next for backing israel for the past 60 years. Many more American lives will be lost than if we took a stand with israel and defeated them.

If israel holds their ground then they won't look at us as much of an ally and we lose a very important ally in the world.

Sometimes you must have sacrifice. Just take a look through our history. If in 1776 we decided we did not want to lose any colonials lives we wouldn't ever have been free from England. Had we not went and warred Germany in WW2 they would have defeated europe and came across the ocean to invade the US and probably defeated us one on one. There are times for war and times for peace. We all want peace, but to have it you'd better be willing to go to war.

curious
Actually in each case I would be more worried by the idea that we would have only one expert boning up on the doctrines that guide our enemies actions. I doubt we would have been so unconcerned with understanding our enemies during world war II or the cold war as we currently apparently are.

And if an aid familiar with the doctrines being taught tells me that the only expert we have was chosen for more his ideology than his actual expertise in the area that would worry me even more.

As an aside, being fluent in arabic is actually a plus for understanding the Koran just as understanding German would be for understanding Mein Kampf. The fact that West considers understanding the relevant language as a bad thing in judging expertise shows where the real political correctness is in this case.

RA
I agree with what you said. We should put a stop to all muslim immigrants until they can solve this problem. Though the moderates will need some help to solve the problem. We should assist them, but they should definitly be the ones to solve the problem. Once they do, im open to them coming here again.

Not surprising that mil goes PC
Unfortunately, in most countries (including US), the military is a sub-branch of government--and thus when gov becomes PC, mil top-brass will soon go that way (I haven't heard of any country where promotion to top officer ranks is NOT by "selection"--read "connexions"), and rest of mil gets infiltrated from there.

CKHustler
Apparently you are prepared to sacrifice, to expend, American lives in support of the defense of the state of Israel, a separate nation.

Israel gets lots of military aid from us. It has a robust military.

I disagree with your conviction that American lives must be sacrificed so that Israel exists.

I applaud Israel. The nation has taken barren terrain and turned much of into an oasis(something the Arabs apparently lack the ability to do). It is a fountain of tolerance, respect for the rights of women, in a sea of ignorance and oppression.

But when it comes to sacrificing the lives of Americans, and jeopardizing our cities, I think it should be done only for defending OUR nation.

No offense to Israel.

renny wrote

Actually renny, a more precise, but much uglier, term for Islamists is "IslamoNAZI".

Remember that Engelbert Dollfuss (Austrian leader, murdered by Nazis in 1934 coup attempt), Rafael Trujillo (Dominican-Republic dictator, murdered in 1963), Jerry Rawlings (erstwhile Ghana dicator) and Samuel Doe (erstwhile Liberia dictator, killed in early 1990's Liberian uncivil war) were all fascists; do you remember any of them having ambitions beyond their own countries/fiefdoms?

Islamism, on the other hand, like Hitler's Nazis, DOES have an idea of world domination.

Boutte
I knew it was only a matter of time before you started defending Hitler. I am a bit surprised it took you this long.

You know, if you really want to help Ron Paul, you may want to hide your liking for the man. By having those who spout anti-semitic rants and defend Hitler say they support Paul, it makes it ever less likely that anyone will vote for Ron Paul.

With supporters like you, he needs no critics.

Christian law?
The Hebrew Commandments and the punishments for those who transgress them, were as follows:

* I Am The Lord Thy God. This Commandment recognized the sovereignty of the Almighty. Rejection of it was seen as a refusal to acknowledge God's authority. Punishment was death by stoning.

* Thou Shalt Have No Other Gods But Me. Punishment was death by stoning.

* Thou Shalt Not Take The Name Of The Lord Thy God In Vain. Punishment was death by stoning.

* Remember The Sabbath Day To Keep It Holy. Punishment was death by stoning.

* Honor Thy Father And Thy Mother Punishment was death by strangulation.

* Thou Shalt Not Commit Murder Punishment was death by decapitation.

* Thou Shalt Not Commit Adultery. Punishment was death by strangulation.

* Thou Shalt Not Steal. Punishment was death by strangulation.

* Thou Shalt Not Bear False Witness Against Thy Neighbor Punishment was death by stoning.

* Thou Shalt Not Covet. Punishment was death by strangulation.

zapdoodat
If you're attempting to compare and contrast the Commandments and Islamic religious teachings, at least make a point of mentioning that Christians en masse made leaps and bounds AWAY from stoning, decapitation, etc as punishment for breaking a "law". Because it was cruel and unusual. Last I checked, Christian murderers, in this country at least, have more rights to life than their victims. Not so much in the Middle East. Nice try, though.

Zapdoodat
As a Christian, I don't worship the 10 Commandments, but Jesus the Savior. The Pharisees tried to trick Jesus into the same sort of strawman argument you're seting up. His answer is found in Matthew 22:37, Mark 12:30 and Luke 10:27 -- The greatest commandment is to love God with all your heart, mind, soul and strength and to love your neighbor as yourself. He followed this up in John 8(or it may have been part of the same conversation; it's sometimes hard to tell among the gospels) by telling the Jews that if they loved God they would love Him and put down those big rocks they were gathering to stone Him.

Thanks for the Hebrew decalogue lesson, but it's immaterial to the Christian law. Jesus already dealt with it and Paul elaborated on it further. Jesus came to complete the law -- to improve it. It is only the mirror that lets you see the "dirt" of sin upon your face. It isn't the law of life governance. And, in Romans, Paul made it clear that the Jews had never been intended to live by it either. They had been called to live in faith to God just as Abraham, 400 years before the law, had. Sorry, but it's just a non-starter as a theological argument. Now, maybe if you want to go bother some Jews about it ....

Crusader95
"when the jihad comes to America don't expect "Sgt Rock" to be there to help. Get ready now."

This, I'm sure, is one of the main reasons why the libs want to destroy the "right of the people to keep and bear arms." If we can't depend on the military to defend us, and we don't have any weapons to defend ourselves, we will be easy pray when it comes time to make us all bow to Allah.

Zapdoodat
You should remember that Adam failed God because he used reason to fight the devil, but Jesus recognized only one Truth. The Word of God. He answered every argument of Satan with "It is written." Instead of relying on reason or human arguments, he trusted God's Word. By example, Jesus instructed us how to deal with evil.

To say you don't worship the Ten Commandments, is to say you don't trust Jesus. Jesus IS the Word of God made flesh. Jesus and the Word are one-in-the-same.

aurorawatcher
You really can't even both us about it. Jews no longer abide by the laws and penalties passed down to Moses for the Kingdom of Israel, as the kingdom no longer exists.

Last I checked, we haven't stoned anyone in quite a few centuries.

And I have to say to zapdoodat, that I really don't have too much problem with the crimes listed in the commandments. Does zapdoodat argue that stealing, coveting, blasphemy and murder should be embraced? Or are you just saying the punishments (no longer embraced by anyone) are too harsh? And as far as some are concerned, for example decapitating murderers, I don't really have any objections to reviving the punishments listed.

I don't get the point, except to make a vague, and ill formed "ain't ya religious folks so stoopid?" arguments.

andrews
"You really can't even both us about it."

What the heck were you trying to say there?

Typo
"bother" not "both". Sorry about that.

Sederoff
I meant to say "can't bother us about them". I dropped two letters somehow.

I was responding to "Now, maybe if you want to go bother some Jews about it ...."

M Sederoff
It appears I dropped your first initial as well in my response.

I know I am not typing THAT badly. I have typing problems, but not that many.

Perhaps I should check the batteries in my wireless keyboard. No way I am omitting that many letters.

(Well, that's my excuse, anyway.)

Zapdoodat
you do know that the 10 commandments are from the old testament right? which means we still follow them but we do not kill eachother over breaking one. Since Jesus came to earth and died for our sins we can ask for forgiveness. I would like to know your point then after that?

Outrage
Outrageous but not surprising. There should be no muslims in the Defense Dept. or any where a security clearance is required. What is the Secretary doing about this?

No I am not bias, just don't trust muslims. I seem to recall something about 9/11 and I have yet to hear the big shots in that "religion" say what happened was wrong.

Also, I have not heard anthing about the muslim G.I. who killed two U.S. Army officers shortly after we invaded Iraq. Anyone know what happened to the "patriot?"

Comments
What? Only 39 comments. Wake up America before we have to fight the Crusades all over again!

Jesus
I'm a reader of the New Testament too.

Jesus talks a lot about helping the poor which is generally eschewed in our 'Gospel of Wealth' philosophy of today. Or did he say help the poor only as long as they put in a good days work. I can't remember.

Frank. Sorry, but I think
we're already fighting the Crusades all over again. Or perhaps we've never stopped fighting them since day one. We just didn't realize it. Islam, was, is and always will be, by its very nature, the mortal enemy of the west. Its a sad commentary that PC is deemed so important it takes precedence over the safety of all Americans.

MotleyCrue
PCness is going to kill us all...

When are people going to wake up to the threat? During the Crusades, the Muslims tried to establish their caliphate with the sword. They have learned that now, in the 21st century, it is far easier to do so with the pen. Bending over backwards in the name of "Political Correctness" will only help to bury us.

The beast of Islam.
Is Islam the seven-headed beast the bible warns us about? Maybe, maybe not, but whether it was the biblical beast or not, it certainly is a dangerous beast, and should be treated as such. We Americans will, hopefully, get to a point where, not only will it be prudent to take up arms against the Islamists in our midst, but also our obligation to future generations.

MotleyCrue
"Islam.... the mortal enemy of the west."

Wow, talk about fear-mongering!

Let's look at how many Americans have died in auto accidents in the last 10 years compared how many Americans have died from Islamic terrorism.

Or how many people of European ancestry have died fighting each other the past century.

If Americans were all that concerned about Islamic terrorism then we would have weaned ourselves off of foreign oil a long time ago. Just ask yourself where does Iran get all of its money for pursuing its nuclear ambitions? Hmmmm....

MotleyCrue
Just wait for il roberto to show up here, and inform us all that we are simply fearmongering, and that there is no such thing as "islamofascism".

zapdoodat writes:
"Let's look at how many Americans have died in auto accidents in the last 10 years compared how many Americans have died from Islamic terrorism.

------------------------------
And your point is?

YLG. From your lips to God's ears.
I think roberto sent a stand in.

point
You should talk more about your fear of automobiles and people of European ancestry.

MotleyCrue
Sure sounds like it...

I don't remember anyone using a car to kill off innocents in the name of Islam (except for that woman in Houston, who intentionally ran over her husband, but that's for another column).

MotleyCrue
MotleyCrue is probably right when stating that we have been fighting the Crusades all along. Perhaps it took 9/11 to wake us up to that fact. But, there will be those, mostly on the far left, such as Michael Moore and Rosie O'Donnell, who won't see that, or don't want to see that so long as a Republican sits in the White House.

zapdoodat writes:
"You should talk more about your fear of automobiles and people of European ancestry.
------------------------------
Why?

zapdoodat
It isn't fearmongering; it's AWARENESS!!

Do you know the difference? because il roberto doesn't, and frankly, I don't want to lump you in the same category.

Frank, Frank, Frank...
Tut, tut...

When are you going to learn that Rosie and Michael can't see past the nearest buffet??

I keep telling you, Sophia,
to drop the nom de plume. I revere Madam Thatcher. She's an icon, at least to conservatives. And I'll brook no nasty innuendoes about her sexuality.

ylg
also be very, very aware that 400,000 Americans have died in the past ten years from automobile accidents and that tens of millions of people of European ancestry have died the past century from their fellow Europeans.

No one is better at killing Christians than their fellow Christians.

zapdoodat
I'm also aware that most car accidents are just that: accidents, i.e., not on purpose.

As for Europeans, I don't have statistics, but I do know of eight honor killings that happened in Berlin the last two months I lived in Germany. And no, they were not prosecuted. What does this have to do with your post? Nothing, just like what your post about car accidents has nothing to do with this column.

Hey Motley, it's okay, she'll probably

get the boot again.. the vile, foul, vulgar person she is.....

The thing is, the more you protest, the MORE she'll denigrate Mrs. Thatcher's name...

As elko.mike said last night... you can put lipstick on a pig, but it's still just a PIG!!!!

zapdoodat
You sir are an Idiot.
I don't say that lightly either.

You are nothing but the usual leftist (I hate everybody) troll that usually clogs up these threads.

Your arguments are totally specious and hold about as much weight as a birthday balloon.

You seem to be interested in one thing, Being the center of attention.

Here's a quarter go call someone who gives a Shiite.

zapdoody is a prime example of why we need to dismantle the DOE he's too stupid to know how stupid he is, and that's pretty skeery.

This will be my last reply to you, I don't like wasting time and bandwidth with trolls.

Margaret Thatcher
What does your comment have to do with the dismissal of Major Coughlin? He was brought in to TEACH the military leaders about what we are facing and England shows what a toady he is to
the P.C. gurus in our administration by listening to the slur against the major..i.e.
Christian extremist. ya think maybe the shoe is on the other foot and there is a mole in the Pentagon?
It's rather sickening watching our President
going to Israel and demanding they give up more territory. If he weren't a confessing Christian it would be understandable, but HE KNOWS BETTER.
And he knows there will not be any peace in that area, it is written in scripture. It's also
nauseating to see him groveling to the Saudi's who are buying up everything they can in this country and building multitudes of mosques run by wahabists. Ya think we might just be letting the fox in the henhouse?
He could override Congress with an executive order opening drilling in ANWR and offshore, and
fast tracking the building of refineries. Good grief we were in trouble when the japanses over ran the rubber platations and it took three years to create synthetic rubber, and we're much
further ahead technologically than we were in WW2.

Back to the actual Subject
Anyone remember what it was?
Just kidding. :op

Glenn Beck has been carping on this subject for a while now, and i agree with him. This country is going to hell in a handbasket, and it has Political Correctness written all over it.

Don't forget where the term originated. (although lefties try)

It started in Stalinist Russia.
To be Politically Correct menat you didn't say anything against the Dear Leader.

The Liberal/progressive/socialist/commie crowd adopted it on college campuses, and it was so successful at stifling Real free speech, that they had to expand as much as they could.

My motto is "Why be Politically Correct, when I can just be CORRECT!

No, it is not PC,
just another sign that the crazies have taken over and are now running the madhouse.

Coughlin needed firing
I actually followed a link to another web site last week to look at the powerpoint presentation on Islamism and jihadist doctrines that got Coughlin fired. He needed it.

His presentation was a cartoonish hack job heavy on neocon ideology and short on facts, understanding and analysis. He wasn't promoting understanding of Islamic extemism, he was selling his own ideology and point of view, complete with all the rhetoric on a "clash of civilizations," restoration of the caliphate and the rest. He painted Islamists with a single brush, ignoring all the different groups, philosophical strains and differing goals that distinguish one from the other. In short, a high school hack job.

Coughlin, as much a jingo as Dr. Coughlin from a previous time in American history, is just the latest of the neocons to be purged from the Defense Department under Secretary Robert Gates. Gates is pursing a reality-based agenda, not one colored solely by ideology. It's frankly about time.

Has anyone noticed the difference? We're beginning to reverse the tide of failure in Iraq, we're starting to see progress in dealing with other Arab nations and even getting our allies to agree with us for a change. Adm. William Fallon, the new chairman of the Joint Chiefs, has even banned use of the phrase "Global War on Terror." PC run amok? Hardly. Fallon recognizes that words matter and that a sloppy description of what we are trying to accomplish promotes sloppy thnking about how to do it.

It's ironic that Ms. West, whose latest book is about grown-ups, fails to recognize when the grown-ups have taken control back from the tots she has supported for the past seven years. Even worse, they are succeeding where her defenders of Western civilization have nearly brought it down.

Crusader95
you are dead on, I retired in '05, but had seen enough of the PC creep in, it was and is in the leadership schools and anywhere else you can think of. Thanks you for your service.

KC

Poor sophie STILL DOESN'T GET IT!

1. No one gets anyone banned. Posters get THEMSELVES banned!

2. Idiology does not get a poster banned. Vile, vulgar, offensive posts get posters banned.

Zapdoodat
As stated earlier car accident are just that accidents, as for Islamic Terrorism, have you not heard the statements by Ahmadinejahd, and many other muslim clerics about bringing down the U.S. and destroying Israel? The adherents to the extreme forms of Islam are not persuaded by cost/benefit approaches. Iran is hell-bent on getting nukes and would use proxies to but them in action, this is awareness, Israel lives it everyday. I would guess you think Hamas and Hezbollah are just harmless country clubs.

The main thrust of Jesus time on earth was in John 14:6 "I am the way the truth and the life, no man comes to the Father but by me" not the social stuff you want to push. I don't remember which one it is but in one of the books of Thessalonians it does say "If a man doesn't work he shouldn't eat" . I all for helping the needy, but there should come a time when they stop needing help, if you don't agree would you like to take home my free-loading brother-inlaw, he's 33 still lives with his mother, won't hold a job and like to smoke weed, and ask anyone that as 2 nickles for money. I'd like to see how far your compasssion will stretch.

I have one for ya sophia
""Playing the Iron Lady has become tiresome for me...I need a new persona.
Would you like to come up with my new name?""

How about "Mentally Challenged Moonbat?"

It fits, and has a nice ring to it.
It would work just like Bill Engvall's "I'm Stupid" signs, People would see your handle and know what to expect.

See? and you say we don't care. :op

you base your life too much on emotion rather than facts. You sir, are a bigger liberal than me.

Sophia's new name
How about "Walking Eagle"?

That's an american Indian term.(I refuse to call myself a "Native American")

It means a Bird that's so full of Shiite that it can't fly!

Great, so when a drunk plows into someone at 80mph, I'm sure their family feels much better about it.

Considering half of all automobile fatalities involve a drunk driver could anyone guess how many people died from this in the past ten years.

Many people miss my point. When it comes to lethality I'm more worried about drunk drivers than I am about Islamic terrorists at this point.

I'm sure if people use the phrase "he could go postal" over and over then a certain percentage of the population would be afraid to enter a US Post Office.

""Jackpine Savage

Excuse me???

You read a post I make on this site and you have completely psychoanalyzed me? Wow, you're good.
Did you get your degree from the same cracker jack box you got your "Facts" from?

What a dolt.

You know nothing about me, you have no idea who I am, how dare you try to tell me what's inside my Head!

I was right the first time, you really Are an idiot.

you're not worth wasting another minute on.

Jackpine Savage: That's really good! :-)

Walking Eagle! Pretty much says it all, doesn't it?

The only problem is, she won't have that name long. She seems to get herself banned so often, that her names only last a day or two, and then she's on to a different name. LOL

Question for you. "I refuse to call myself a 'Native American.'" Why? Just curious.

POLMsgt
"have you not heard the statements by Ahmadinejahd, and many other muslim clerics about bringing down the U.S. and destroying Israel?"

I doubt most Americans sincerely believe this. Where does Iran get all of its money to pursue its nuclear ambitions. Are we not addicted to foreign oil? Our huge demand for foreign oil has driven the price of a barrel of oil to $90 a barrel.

When George Bush became President in 2001 oil was trading at $23 per barrel. Iran loves this. Do you consider it an act of appeasement every time you fill up your 3 ton SUV with gasoline an act of appeasement?

Jackpine Savage
When people resort to Ad hominem attacks when they encounter facts that they don't like, then I tend toward believing that these people have led their life using rather brutish emotion rather than looking at life with eyes wide open.
Sorry, if have offended you (not really) but I think that this is a trait of liberals rather than conservatives.

Anne
""Question for you. "I refuse to call myself a 'Native American.'" Why? Just curious.""

Because every time I hear the term, in my head I hear that line from every bad tarzan movie "The natives are restless tonight" I prefer the term American myself :o) Besides I belong to the Sault Ste. Marie tribe of Chippewa Indians not Chippewa Native Americans. :o)

and I thought you'd like the walking eagle remark :o) But then what do I know? according to zapdoody and his expert analysis I base my life on Emotions. LOL

The world is full of idiots, and most of them vote democrat.

Ad hominem attacks
Zipadeedoodah pecked: ""When people resort to Ad hominem attacks when they encounter facts that they don't like, then I tend toward believing that these people have led their life using rather brutish emotion rather than looking at life with eyes wide open.""

Let me explain to you the definition of an Ad Hominem attack. If you posted something with actual facts that could be backed up, and I called you a big fat butt-head, THAT would be an ad hominem attack.

What I did was state FACT.
The "Facts" you posted along with your absurd attacks on christianity can be easily debunked by anyone with a copy of "Religion for Dummies".

Your specious argument about car accidents, and the obvious pleasure you receive by pretending to be the smartest person in the room, says just what I stated.

You sir, are an IDIOT.
And I bet a lot of other posters here will agree with my factual assesment.
I don't need to resort to childish attacks like liberals do, I have the FACTS on my side.

Jackpine Savage: Interesting!

It's late here, and I do need to sign off... but I'll be visiting your blog in a day or so... :-)

You always have some interesting and pretty profound thoughts and ideas.

Thanks Anne
I feel my head swelling as I type. :o)

Those slide show you have on your blog were too dang funny!!

It's a good thing I watched them after dinner, and not while sipping my psychic cup of coffee in the AM!!

Zapdoodat, apparently you're mentally
challenged. As you seem bewildered, then offended when others take the stance, that one can do and deal with more than one problem at the same time.

You're sophomoric attempt at bringing in automobile accidents and the resulting carnage, to the present topic at hand. Well, to say the least, is quite enlighting. But not in the way you would have like it to. For it reflects back to the writer (Zapdoodat), as a simpleton.

For if this were the proper venue to bring up automobile accidents, and procedures to reduce those incidences! Then those with sufficient mental capacity, could do both. And them some....

But do keep trying. Practice and reading those comments of superior intellect. Will hopefully do you well.

If you are really serious, and not being snarky, go to Burt's Monday column, and scroll down towards the bottom. You'll find a "Chris" asking for t r and Sophie. Click on his handle, and it will take you to his site, where he explains the rules. Feel free to leave any comments there, too.

And remember, their IP's aren't blocked, which means they can come back, as sophie has done. I didn't get that courtesy at du.com, where I was banned AND blocked after 11 minutes, for saying that the poster (I don't remember his/her name) was being a pompous elitist. So just remeber, this site is a heck of a lot more tolerant than others out there.

Goodnight!

Thanks YLG

Drunk drivers are not the same threat that terrorist that have openly stated their intent to kill you, cars are inanimate objects if drunk or sober people have accidents in them.
It doesn't matter if most Americans believe Ahamadinejad or not, it doesn't make his pronouncements any less true or a threat, it has been observed Iran has aquired nuclear material, it has gained the technology from A.Q. Khan, they have short and medium range ballistic missiles. In your view the guy is harmless, in his view he is a twelver. As a twelver he believes he can usher the return of the mahdi by ridding the world of non-muslims, he has already sent Pres. Bush a letter for he and the U.S. to convert. By Muslim teaching if the party does not convert then it is open season on them.
Zap, our chief supplier of oil is Canada, Mexico comes in 2nd or 3rd.
Appeasement is cowardice and capitulation in the face of an adversary.
Also, if we had been allowed to drill in ANWR and gone after the oil in the Gulf (that seeps out of the ocean floor) our position and possibly the price of oil would be different. But the Dems blocked all that some years ago and even in the recent past, give them your tribute.

POLMsgt
"In your view the guy is harmless" -I never said that, he has the potential for great harm. Especially with the price of oil so high and Iran totally dependent on its export of oil for ALL of its governmental revenue.

"our chief supplier of oil is Canada, Mexico comes in 2nd or 3rd." - very true, but what would happen to the world price of oil if "our addiction to oil" had been deleted from the World Demand for oil. Prices would collapse. Iran would collapse. Ahmadinejahd would collapse.

Had the USA made a real attempt at limiting its import of oil then tens of billions of dollars a year would not flow to such wonderful places as Saudi Arabia (Wahabism), Iraq, Iran and now Venezuela and even Russia. Since 1973 our percentage of foreign oil has increased. Since 2001 our percentage of foreign oil has increased. Saudi Arabia, Kuwait, UAE are now buying our banks. I really don't think we take the threat seriously. Driving monster cars is just more important to us.

The President says that to combat our addiction to foreign oil we need "new" technology. That's not true. 30 years ago there were many cars that got 40 mpg, double the average today.

Too me it doesn't seem that we take Islamic terrorism seriously, considering that petrodollars are used to fund it. It's our tremendous demand for foreign oil that keeps the international price of oil high.

autos and what I really meant
For those who think I'm a liberal pretend that I live in the land of Oz.

In Oz, 50 people are murdered every year. In Oz, 500 people die in automobile accidents every year. When I wake up in the morning I should be and hopefully am more concerned with death by auto than being murdered.

I really don't care if one death is by accident and another is on purpose.

How many people in the USA wake up, get in their car and think today I'll be an auto fatality statistic?

I don't know why the Left wants to take away our 2A rights, all I know is as head of my household my responsibility to my family is to educate and prepare them. Basically I am exercising my 2A rights to the point of exhaustion! :)

I will not submit!

Good morning!!

Yes, those are the rules, but a moderator can only ban when a poster is flagged by different people on a specific post. So, if t r says something vile (as is the norm), he can stay on as long as the specific post is not flagged. It is not enough for just one person to flag the post; there have to be quite a few flags on the post before a moderator becomes involved. That's why we can talk about fashions!

However, once a poster has been banned a few times, he/she is monitored for a while, to make sure he/she is not in violation of rules. This is why t r is so quick to get booted, and why Lumberjack (who was banned once) is still here.

Now, we (the royal "we") are over at the Limbaugh thread. If you haven't read Mike Adams' column, PLEASE do so!!

Ciao!

Zap
I guess cars should be outlawed.
As I stated previously, for the last dozen years when we could have been getting oil out of ANWR and off the coast of Florida, Democrats, beholden to environmentlist stopped it. But guess what the Cubans with help from China, are going after it, Mexico, not to be left out is doing the same, looks like those numbskulls had a great idea.

There are thing that could have been done and could be done to lessen our dependency on foreign oil but can't do that, we'll let the Cubans get it, great plan.

ModerateMark
Hey!! I'm not a moderator, for crying out loud!!

If you don't think the rules are being effective, talk about it with Chris. But if you want my opinion, the free speech exercised here is a heck of a lot "freer" than in most other sites.

Hal is free to complain about it, but has yet to do so ( I asked him a few weeks ago if he has complained to TH). And as far as making fun of political figures, how do you account for Robert's "Arbusto", "McShame", "DeadFred" and others? And Hal calling GunnyG "babykiller" and "merc"?

You see, the moderator has banned many conservatives on this site, including SSGT (x2), Lumberjack (x1), and BmanIII ( I lost count). You are relatively new, so don't be jaded. If you called Coulter something vicious or called for her death, that may have prompted others to flag your post. However, the fact that you are still using your moniker means you weren't banned.

Politically correct Islam?
This is an outrage! Can't SOMEBODY in the Government finally send Political Correctness to the graved!?
