Mitt's Vietnam Flip-Flop: His Most Disturbing Yet

Was the Copenhagen Global Warming Summit Walk-Out a Win for the U.S.?

NEW YORK — I have written repeatedly on Willard Mitt Romney’s serial flip-flops. Mitt is the born-again supply-sider who today swears he never raised taxes, even though he increased taxes and fees $983 million as Massachusetts governor. He is 2008’s stalwart defender of traditional values and man-woman marriage who, in 2002, distributed a hot-pink flyer among Boston’s gay community that read: “Mitt and Kerry Wish You A Great Pride Weekend! All citizens deserve equal rights, regardless of their sexual preference.” (Kerry Healey was the GOP nominee for lieutenant governor.) Romney is the Second Amendment enthusiast who brags about being a life-member of the National Rifle Association — “life” beginning in August 2006 — who said in 1994, “I don’t line up with the NRA.”

Pick nearly any topic, and you will find the new and old Romneys as far apart as two pugilists in opposite corners of a boxing ring, ready to knock each other’s lights out.

But nothing prepared me for Romney’s most amazing flip flop of all. Somehow, I missed it, despite months of researching his bipolar record.

During CNN’s January 30 debate from the Ronald Reagan Presidential Library, Romney said, “one of the two great regrets I have in life is I didn’t serve in the military. I’d love to have.” This echoes what he told the Boston Globe last June 24. “I longed in many respects to actually be in Vietnam and be representing our country there and in some ways it was frustrating not to feel like I was there as part of the troops that were fighting in Vietnam.”

Now, as works with almost any subject, search Google or Nexis for “Romney” and “Vietnam” and any date before 2004, when he got serious about pursuing the 2008 GOP nomination.

Voila! There it is, from May 2, 1994. “I was not planning on signing up for the military. It was not my desire to go off and serve in Vietnam,” Romney told the Boston Herald.

This flip flop is much more revealing and far more disturbing than the rest.

It is bad enough to reverse course 180 degrees on public-policy matters such as taxes, gay rights, guns, abortion, immigration, the minimum wage, Ronald Reagan’s legacy, or any of the other topics on which the old and new Romneys clobber each other. At least these are political issues on which, at best, new information and thinking can justify changed views or, at worst, electoral mathematics can explain abandoning one position for another.

But for Romney to somersault on something so personal — his own non-involvement in the Vietnam War — makes one wonder if Romney is any different from an exterior set on a Hollywood back lot: Clean and pretty in the front and all flat, plywood planks in the back.

Today’s Romney says, more or less, “Too bad I was not part of a military quagmire that tragically cost the lives of 50,000 GIs.” Yesterday’s Romney said, more or less, “How fortunate I was not to be part of a military quagmire that tragically cost the lives of 50,000 GIs.”

Conveniently enough, today’s position plays well in a GOP primary filled with hawkish voters, and now led by the Vietnam War hero, Senator John McCain (R – Arizona). Romney’s 1994 comments more snugly suited Massachusetts — a liberal, Democrat-dominated state where such dovish remarks would have gone down well.

If Romney cynically shifted from his old position to his new one on Vietnam service, he is even more cold and calculating than previously thought.

And if he sincerely went from saying in 1994 that he had not desired to go to Vietnam to 2007’s longing to have been there, one wonders if there is anything at Romney’s core but breeze and tumbleweeds.

Romney is just like Billy bob Klinton
He will say anything, he will change on any issue that he sees will get him votes.

Romney said, “one of the two great regrets I have in life is I didn’t serve in the military.

Romney also said. “I was not planning on signing up for the military. It was not my desire to go off and serve in Vietnam,” Romney told the Boston Herald.

The most disturbing for me is this promotion of sodomite marriage, all at his own choice.

Keyes: Romney responsible for same-sex marriage fiasco
Charges 'complete misunderstanding' of role as governor, significance of court's opinion
On his campaign website this week, Keyes blasted former Gov. Mitt Romney for being "single-handedly responsible for instituting same-sex marriage in Massachusetts" for the way he responded to a state court ruling in 2003.

"Most people are unaware of the way Massachusetts came to adopt same-sex marriage," the former Reagan administration diplomat said. "They think the state's Supreme Judicial Court forced it to happen. That's incorrect."

Mr Murdock
Are you sure you don't play for the other side?

sluggo, you are as dishonest as Mitt
The conservative movement does not need liars.

sluggo,
do you mean on the side of truth?

sluggo,
maybe some Republicans' ethics do not include win at any cost.

Deroy - The New McCain Hit Machine
Deroy's still ticked about his credibility hit by backing Giulliani's debacle of a campaign and is out to play "Gotcha" and take quotes out of context. This is what he does best. Now that he's become a hack for McCain's camp, I'm sure he will refrain from "Nexxis Lexxus searches from McCain's decades of political experience flips.

Deroy, please repost all of the columns that you wrote demeaning McCain in the last three months when you were building up Giuliani, I'm sure we need a refresher course in why we don't want McCain.

You're an idiot Hack!

Romney lies about desire to serve
Honesty is a bedrock conservative virtue. Without this basic moral, conservative ideals cannot be supported. Thus, when a candidate like Mitt Romney lies, it is devastating to their candidacy.

eli,
please put them in context for us!

FIRST DEFEAT PATS, THEN DEFEAT ROMNEY
I THOUGHT THE GIANTS WERE JINXED WHEN MY FRIEND CALLED (too early) AND SAID THEY ALREADY WON (and then the Pats scored and took the lead). But ELI rose to the occasion...

GO BIG BLUE

ONE OF THE BEST SUPERBOWLS EVER

NOW MCCAIN HAS TO BEAT ROMNEY THE SAME WAY.

It is a sign from God.

Romney lies about desire to serve
Honesty is a bedrock conservative virtue. Without this basic moral, conservative ideals cannot be supported. Thus, when a candidate like Mitt Romney lies, it is devastating to their candidacy.

Alexander Hamilton gave his life to stop Aaron Burr, not because he disagreed with Burr's principles but because he thought that Burr had none.

Watch Romney Loose MA tommorow....

*I* won't vote for him - I actually would vote for Hillary Clinton before him and this is why:

He really is a say-anything person who is out there for himself and for Team Mitt (himself). It really does always come down to what helps Team Mitt and winning is the only objective.

Watching Team Mitt, I really wonder why the fuss about steroids in Baseball, as winning is the only thing and there are no rules. Nor principles....

Romney has done two things in Massachusetts. First, he has split the party a half dozen ways for no good reason, and he started doing this in the '94 primary for the run against Kennedy. He would have won that outright but he had to be ruthless. And we won't even get into the '02 Healey/Rappaport primary firefight that was all Romney, right down to the threatened lawsuit over the "Romney/Rappaport" campaign signs.

Second, Romney may not be a lawyer but he sure acts like one. Whatever his client (he) needs to have said, he says. The concept of Kettle Pleading comes to mind...

God save the Republic from Team Mitt...

Hillary would make a better President, of this I am quite serious.

Banned Boy Scouts
Romney backed the Gay position and banned the Boy Scouts from volunteering at the Salt Lake Olympics. The gays and the abortionists have never lost a battle to him.

McCain Doesn't Lie He Forgets
When McCain was asked in a recent debate about a recent Boston Globe article that quoted him saying that he wasn't very good on ecomomic issues, he just said he didn't remember saying it...and everyone believes him.

I guess when you as old and senile as he is I guess most will give him a pass. Oh, and the fact that he's a war hero...forgot that little piece of political cover.

Tax cuts - during the campain he said why he didn't suppor them was because they were not accompanied by spending cuts. But when you read what he said to the press it was because the tax cuts favored the wealthy.

At the first of the campaign he still said he wouldn't sign them, but now he wants to make the same tax cuts he opposed permanent.

Facts
Mr. Murdock,

When you start your essay with exagerations and incorrect facts, it calls into question the veracity of the entire piece. Please consider that the next time you write a hit piece on someone.

MittCare worse than HillaryCare.....

Hillary Clinton made a big splash yesterday with her thoughts of payroll withholding to force people to participate in her health insurance scheme.

Romney's existing Massachusetts plan is worse. It "fines" people for not participating - creating as best I can tell, the very real situation where those trying to work their way off welfare can ACTUALLY PAY MORE IN TAXES THAN THEY EARN IN REAL DOLLARS!!!!

The tax forms and such are on line at the state's homepage http://www.state.ma.us and picture this - a person with a spotty employment record (i.e. welfare person) gets a good job in, say, September '08. Full time at, say, $10/hr which is the de-facto minimum wage here (and makes the math easier). Under MittCare that person will be "fined" for the whole year based on what his four months' income was and WILL PAY MORE IN STATE INCOME TAXES THAN HE EARNED!

Doesn't pay to work in Mitt's Massachusetts.

We won't get into the Sunday Boston Globe story about how the Commonwealth is begging the Feds for more money to bail out the disaster that MittCare is becoming (or how Mitt didn't deal with the Big Pig either).

People like Romney see the world as composed by two groups of people - the uberrich and those on welfare. This is problematic....

Where is the flip flop?
Still looking Mr. Murdock...he said on Jan.30 that he regretted it. Today, he regrets it. 14 years ago, he did not regret it. HOW IN HELL DO YOU SEE A FLIP FLOP IN THESE STATEMENTS? You are an idiot of the worst type!

Patches - Facts on Boy Scout
Nice try Patches, there was an age limit to volunteer for the 2002 Olympics -- 18 years of age. And yes, that would exclude the Boy Scouts and every other youth group...

Here's the link:

http://www.evangelicalsformitt.org/front_page/jay_sekulow_r esponds_to_boy_sc.php

The search took all of five seconds.

Disgusting
Another cringe-inducing performance by Mittflip. Deroy has it 100% correct. This particular bit of flip-flopping is far worse than countless other instances. Why anyone thinks that supporting Mitt is a stand for conservative principle is beyond me. Someone who would be two-faced on their attitude toward wartime service should not be the standard-bearer of our party. Any lingering doubts I have had about supporting John McCain for our nominee have completely disappeared.

John McCain 2008!

Quite the hatchett man Mr. Murdock
You made it your mission in life to try and dig up dirt on Mitt and this is the best you got?

A single quote from 14 years ago? I don't suppose he could have wished to go but, felt compelled to do other things by his family or church or whatever. And you equate supporting equal rights to gays as somehow endorsing homosexuality or something? I won't even waste the time to debunk your alleged flip flops that might fill half a page. I could but, if you spent half the time compiling McCain's, I am sure you could fill a heavy book, and yet, I am assuming you support him or actually work for him. I don't know which from columns such as this.

Explorer Scouts are 14-21, yes TwentyOne
> eli writes: there was an age limit to
> volunteer for the 2002 Olympics -- 18
> years of age. And yes, that would exclude
> the Boy Scouts

Nope. Explorer Scouts are 14 to 21 -- and Scouting has never really kicked kids out on their 18th birthday, either - the practice was always SCHOOL YEAR. In my case, I turned 18 in March of my senior year of high school, but I remained in the troop until the end of the year in June. Everyone else did too.

And then there is the real question of why there needed to be the minimum age of 18 when it usually is 16 for everything else (including the US Census workers). Other than the Boy Scouts and various Church Groups, what other entity would have young people willing to volunteer -- seems to me like someone was trying to keep the Boy Scouts and religious youth out of the game...

Reggie...have you read this?

Tell me how we should trust anyone who violates his military oath by consistently sleeping with Junior female officers? Is this heroism? Is it an example of his great character? Please help me understand how this type of egregious contempt for the Naval rules of order would instill trust in him as Commander in Chief? Somebody warn the interns, here comes McCain!

Romney loses a vote at NRO
Boasting in Boston [Michael Graham]

I am so confident of both a Patriots win today and a Romney win in Massachusetts on Tuesday that I made this pledge on the air Friday: "If the NY Giants beat the Patriots in the Super Bowl, I will vote cast my Super Duper Tuesday primary vote for (shudder) John McCain."

So when I say "Go, Pats!" I really, REALLY mean it.

I also think they are even more of a lead-pipe cinch to win the Super Bowl than McCain is to win the GOP nomination. Either way, I'm putting my money..er vote where my mouth is.

Fathers No More in MittFee's Taxachusets

Mitt Romney went out - on his own iniative, not court order - and changed the birth certificates from "Father" & "Mother" to "Parent A" & "Parent B"

Romney did this. And Hillary Clinton would be worse? I honestly think not....

Murdoch quotes from the Democrats
Murdoch should be ashamed of himself: copying an out of context quote, which proves nothing, from a DEMOCRATIC web site! That is the page which he links to, a DEMOCRATIC page!

This whole thing is totally ridiculous. No one has shown even a single Romney flip flop.

I don't know if that article about McCain is true or not. But let's just assume that it is. McCain still served. McCain still refused expedited release from a hellhole. Romney on the other hand did not serve and has the audacity to now say he would have liked to have been in the military (I'm sure that warms Viet Nam vets' hearts flipper! You should have had that attitude when it counted.). I don't understand the support for Romney. He's most likely unelectible, and a disgusting panderer to boot.

Pirate
Shhhhhhh! Romney is a pure conservative! He's the heir apparent to Ronald Reagan. He's the most principled man in the race. These folks want to idealize the man and you interfere by bringing up annoying facts about him.

It is to laugh
Seeing Romnulans get all bent out of shape when someone dares to speak unkindly of their messiah cracks me up. You guys are like the Paultards now, congratulations!
Just like Romney, you can sure dish it out but you can't take it!

Seems to sum it up for the all haters here. Grab any available branch to hang onto in order to rationalize your fear no matter how thin it might be. It is easier than facing it, doing research, or actually thinking.

Romney is the only candidate left standing that made his own money rather than marrying into it or making it through public service (you do know how that works don't ya?). It is quite amazing how much wealth senators leave office with through shrewd investment of their salary.

Ya, let's vote another consummate washington insider into the presidency, anyone will do, even a communist like Hillary is better than Romney. HE'S A MORMON. Run for your lives. All the other candidates say we need to fear global warmism. Thanks to you, I now know that Mitt will cause the end of the world. Let's reject a guy cause our preacher says their a cult and elect someone that will compromise with the communists on everything and lead us towards lower economic growth in order to protect the grandchildren from that evil boogeyman AGW.

We absolutely do get the government we deserve. All indications here are, we will get it hard and fast where the sun don't shine. I hope you have plenty of guns and ammo for when they come for your little cult.

December 2007:
MR. RUSSERT: You’re still for the Brady Bill?

GOV. ROMNEY: I supported the assault weapon ban. I…

MR. RUSSERT: You’re for it?

GOV. ROMNEY: I assigned–and I–let me, let me describe it.

MR. RUSSERT: But you’re still for it.

GOV. ROMNEY: Let’s describe what it is. I signed–I would have supported the original assault weapon ban. I signed an assault weapon ban in Massachusetts governor because it provided for a relaxation of licensing requirements for gun owners in Massachusetts, which was a big plus.

MR. RUSSERT: So the assault ban that expired here because Congress didn’t act on it, you would support?

GOV. ROMNEY: Just as the president said, he would have, he would have signed that bill if it came to his desk, and so would have I.

Today on Glenn & Helen (Reynolds) Podcast:

HELEN REYNOLDS: Now, I know that a lot of the gun rights folks aren’t sure about your position on gun rights. Would you pledge to veto any new gun control bills that come across your desk as President?

MITT ROMNEY: Yeah.Yeah, I don’t support any gun control legislation, the effort for a new assault weapons ban, with a ban on semi-automatic weapons, is something I would oppose. There’s no new legislation that I’m aware of or have heard of that I would support. In regards to guns, I think we have enough legislation and should enforce the laws as they exist. I was pleased that when I ran for Governor that I received the endorsement of the NRA and I hope to receive their support now.

Oh, and he DID NOT get the NRA endorsement, BTW.

Right in front of your eyes

If you had the guts and the honesty to see it.

Here ya go "best sort of" idiot

FLIP 1 JANUARY 30 2008
During CNN’s January 30 debate from the Ronald Reagan Presidential Library, Romney said, “one of the two great regrets I have in life is I didn’t serve in the military. I’d love to have.” This echoes what he told the Boston Globe last June 24. “I longed in many respects to actually be in Vietnam and be representing our country there and in some ways it was frustrating not to feel like I was there as part of the troops that were fighting in Vietnam.”

FLOP 2 May 2 1994
Romney said. “I was not planning on signing up for the military. It was not my desire to go off and serve in Vietnam,” Romney told the Boston Herald.

Nonsense, Deroy
Read Pat Conway's 'My Losing Season'. He very plainly outlines how he was a Viet Nam war protester--and it was only years later that he realized he should've done his protesting AFTER he did his duty serving his country. I see nothing wrong with Mitt coming to the same conclusion. With age comes wisdom and, hopefully, some perspective on the folly of our youth.

DONAL
Yes, Romney certainly has become "wise" in the past three or fours years, right around the time he decided to run for President.

By the way, I don't remember Romney saying he was a Viet Nam protester. He didn't say his conscience prevented him from serving. He didn't go, because...he just desire it. But now he says he would have like to have gone. Thanks Multiple Mitt!

Slick Mitty
Why doesn't the Corporatist Mitt Romney just drop out and quit siphoning votes away from the true Conservative, Mike Huckabee????

Ya, rrright
Lousy article. Mitt is the most trustworthy candidate of the bunch.

ABM!

Like Flakes Of Snow Melt In The Sun.
It is interesting that you wish to repeat, misquote and misrepresent in your desperation a man who in a four year term took MA, from broke, three billion in debt, to over 1 billion windfall when he finished his term in office. In addition, 65,000 more jobs which later came to over 80,000. This message is a joke, and disgusting along with all the other flakes that twist and misrepresent the truth, will melt before the light of truth before “Super Tuesday“, and you go down foolishly.

Your story does not match up with the Club of Growth, and that disturbs me to think that in this last moment you think you can pull off a smear. It is so disappointing that you sell you soul to the devil for a few bucks, or fear of an honest man. To bad for you. You only hurt yourself when you twist the truth, you only goof, in your misrepresentations.

What have you to show for your life, and how would you hold up under this foul display of envoy and ignorance? You may be sincere, but that does not make it right, Then again, you may have needed to pay your rent, it is the first of the month.

Reggie1971
We have also been involved in the Iraq/Afghan war for the last 4-5 years that you say Mitt has changed his mind; it's certainly reasonable to think our new position in a war might cause him to rethink things (Also 9/11) along with his advancing years.

And 'desire' is Deroy's word--we can boil it down to Mitt 'didn't want to go'. Duh, he DIDN'T want to go. He gave no reason, though it might well have been because he was a protester, or for religious reasons--or for any other reason (Pat Conroy took over a chapter in his book to explain his position.)

He obviously feels differently now and he should be allowed to say so. If you don't like the guy, and/or you're a Demmie, then say so. Don't pick out nonexistent or specious reasons for dissing him.

You are a real swashbuckler. HA. I think I'll call you Walter Mitty.

Anyine but Mitt the liar
Mitt the weeoping civil rights marching activist, and life long hunter has lied about everything-including Mike Huckabee. Now we find Vient anm asohe he lied about Viet Nam also!

I won't vote for Mitt if he gets the nomination.

I will vote for McCain -or Hillary before mitt-but never for hussein Obama-he's a true detriment to the nation.

Fortunately, if he wins, he will be a Jimmy Carter one termer.

DONAL
Hardly non-existant reasons at all. The man always uses weasel words so that if they are interpreted in a way that is not advantageous to him, he can say "Oh I meant this". His comment about Viet Nam speaks for itself. If he had a reason to avoid service other than self-preservation, it seems he would have stated it. But that might put him at risk of losing some votes, and he couldn't do that, could he?

By the way, I was unaware that LDS members could not serve because of religious reasons. If Mitt was a Viet Nam protester for political reasons, he shouldn't be allowed anywhere near the Republican nomination.

Then why do so many not trust him?

Greetings talent scout!

Most liars think everyone is a liar. Of course that is not true, there are a lot who are honest people, but most will believe others are dihonest, without question. I am sincere, but I have made my mistakes too, you may recall, and I regret every mistake i make.

Mitt is as good as gold, and Washington DC, needs fixing, but they don't want to face the music, and are fighting back.

Romney has momentum and California
Romney, a former Massachusetts governor, led McCain 40 percent to 32 percent in California, where the margin of error was 3.3 percentage points. A win in California, the most populous state, could help puncture McCain's growing momentum in the Republican nomination fight.

http://www.reuters.com/article/newsOne/idUSN034586612008020 4

"Romney is widening his lead in California and has a really big advantage with conservatives," Zogby said. "Romney winning California would give some Republicans pause when they look at McCain as the potential nominee."

All the McNuts are out in force...
with the core anti-Mormon bashing Deee-Roy, all bigotry and flawed analysis along with McCain's lick spittle-type duplicity.

Murdock, give it up man...you are your bigots will lose to Hillary. At least this man's vote either stays at home or votes for Hillary if McShame is the nominee.

Deroy, since when do YOU think that YOU are more important than the conservative base? Your Mitt/Mormon-bashing deserves a swift roundhouse kick to your bigoted cotton-pickin' head. You don't me to send Chuckie after you do you?

Oh wait a minute, that's right, the other part of the rope-a-dope tag team is Hucksterbee who has VP visions-a-danicin' in his geographically-challenged brain.

McCainiacs destroying GOP
McLame graduated near the bottom of his USNA class and is runt of the clan McCain. He has always been "a loose cannon on deck" since he showed as Charles Keating's rump swab (one of 5) during the Lincoln Savings & Loan scandal. Of course, you were probably still in diapers. Speaking of diapers, when is that 5'7" midget who physiognomy presents with melanoma-pocked and with a pasty white face and a voice like Donald Duck....the Dhimms will be laughing all the way to the White House.

No wonder, ueber-lib Harry Reid dismissed McSlime so easily with a one-liner quip..."he has no reason to talk...isn't he one of the Keating 5". And for your chest-beating and McCain's self-puffery talk about heroism in Vietnam, it makes one pause to remember than McSlime was one of the few POWs who gained weight during his stay at the Hanoi Hilton. Why because Daddy McCain made sure Junior had as nice a stay as possible. They pulled strings to get the goathead through the USNA, just like he pulled the pity me, I was a poor POW during the Keating 5 scandals that cost the US taxpayers billions of dollars. He should have gone to jail, instead he got a get of jail card using the poor, little Hanoi John routine.

Well, Deroy, he has been playing that card for WAY TOO LONG! At least one of his fellow co-conspirators, Sen John Glenn (a real hero), left the Senate after all of that disgraceful behavior. Oh no, not John. Why he even milked his POW connections to land himself a trophy wife worth millions so he indulge in his favorite hobby: stroke and massage the egos of Dhimmicrats and poke out the eyes of fellow Republicans.

Romney is pathetic!
Romney is truely the lowest life form on the political stage in this election. He will say anything to win elected office. Fortunately, his campaign will be over after tuesday and we won't have to listen to his flip flops on every issue ever again!

McCain/Huckabee the best and brightest?
It is obvious to anyone, that these two buffoons are not the choice of conservatives in the GOP. Why they keep going is easy to answer: jealousy and envy of Mitt's hard work, intelligence, business savoir-faire and success!

McSlime married a multi-millionaire trophy wife and Hucksterbee always tries to have deluded Chuck Norris' glamorous partner near him, and not his own somewhat dowdy-looking bride. Both are phonies, and trying to pass themselves off as something they are not: CONSERVATIVES--not.

They head the lib, illegal-loving, open-borders wing of the GOP that has just about reversed all the succcesses of the 1980s.

Since McCain is acting like the New England Patriots, and assuming the mantle of GOP king, I hope Romney can be like the New York Giants who really wanteed to win more, and kick the midget and his mini-me to the curb. Otherwise, the GOP will be trashed come November 2008!

Romney is Dishonest
I can vote for the lesser of two evils. Voting for a man who is dishonest, is voting or something that is wrong and that is something that i can not do in a primary or a general election. Securing he border is important to me so Huckabee has my vote.

Where is Giuliani now, Deroy?
The 3 biggest libs running for the GOP POTUS nomination were McNasty, Hucksterbee and Julie-Annie. Since you man-crush, Julie-Annie, opted out as I predicted months ago: I stated quite emphatically that "Giuliani couldn't go mano-a-mano with Hillary Clinton for the NY US Senate seat using prostate CA as his excuse...he already had a chance against Hillary and he ran away with his tail between his cheating on his wife loins"...my oh my, how true these political prognostications have turned out to be.

Deroy, are you sure your name is Deroy and not columnist Herbert Brooks of the NYT?

Schmidt, you can't be serious?
Huckster wants to support illegals'DREAM act and I paraphrase: "I don't want the kids to pay for their parents' sin"....I love the noblesse oblige, of course, theology boy has no idea where Pakistan is on a map, but wants to stop illegals by stopping Pakis at the US southern border.

Even after being quizzed by super-lib Russert on MTP "Isn't this putting other US children at a disadvantage"...the Huckster put it out again...and proves once and for all that he is a full-blown libtard, and wants to support his ideas of noblesse oblige with my hard-earned dollars.

You must be a freakin' lib to support the illegal-horde invasion from MAY-HEEKO--another permanent support group for the Dhimmicrats and a permanent voting block for them.

Of course, he has to supply illegals for the Tyson chicken king's meat processing plants in Arkansas. so we know why Hucksterbee talks out of two sides of mouth. Now who was that other lying born-again...Al Gore, Bill Clinton, Jimmuh Carter or is it Jimmy Swaggart, Jim Bakker, Ted Haggard or is it Oral Roberts or is it Creflo Dollar or is it Benny Hinn...the list goes on and on... ....and on and on. Now where is Pat Robertson and his boy Julie-Annie?

"Quagmire" cliche
VietNam was a "quagmire", or became one, due to the irresolute and "politically correct" conduct of the war by our civilian leaders, as well as the betrayal by the "mainstream" news media (a la Cronkite) and the "revolutionary" antics of the "new left". The war was clearly winnable, and in fact was won on the battlefield. Murdock's characterization of VietNam reveals his political slant, which skews his view of Romney. As for the two seemingly contradictory statements about VietNam by Romney, a true judgment cannot be made without knowing the context. Could he have been referring to different periods of his life, in different situations, where he was seeing the war from different perspectives? We don't know because Murdock doesn't tell us. In any event, McCain's positions on issues important to conservatives have been quite consistent in recent years: he has opposed or impeded the enactment of many legislative issues important, and sometimes critical, to conservative concerns. He did not do so from a need to satisfy the political desires of his constitutents, since Arizona is mostly coservative; in contrast, most of Romney's constituents were liberal, and he could not govern with disregard for their desires. He advanced positions as conservative as possible in a liberal state.

George Bush ‘Privately’ Upset With Mitt
Novak: George Bush ‘Privately’ Upset With Mitt Romney
Bush loves open borders!

HP-The following is excerpted from Robert D. Novak’s column entitled “Bush Against Romney”

While President George W. Bush has maintained neutrality among contenders for the Republican presidential nomination, he privately expresses to friends his exasperation with Mitt Romney’s hard-line stance on immigration.

Bush is upset that Romney changed his position on the issue, compared to what it had been when he was governor of Massachusetts, at the expense of the president’s immigration reform. Bush and Sen. John McCain are not close, but the president is grateful for McCain’s support on Iraq and immigration

An Old Veteran's Perspective
As a Vietnam Veteran and a military retiree (34 years on active duty), I’m amazed by Mr. Delroy’s ability to find a flip flop in a man’s changing perspective on his youthful decisions.

I’ve met countless men over the years that chose not to serve in the military in their youth but later regretted it, especially following a considerable passage of time.

I hope that you and all your snide contemporaries are blessed with the ability to live perfect lives without ever making a decision that you later regretted.

Fair Indictment of Romney
The column is a fair indictment of Romney, who has flip flopped on basic issues; the column is not a hatchet job that some posters here are wrongly claiming. The posters who don't like the Murdock column simply don't want to accept the real nature of Romney because, I suspect, that would make very difficult getting behind Romney to oppose a pro-life fiscal conservative and war hero in John McCain. The fact is, though, the Murdock column does point to the idiocy of stop-McCain people getting behind Romney.

Vietnam
I was in Vietnam, and I can tell you for certain that Romney did not miss anything by not being there. Iraq is another Vietnam. So what is the problem with these wars?
Well, the problem is that Congress did not declare war, so there is no way to win, and no way to proceed. Party members cannot imagine what to do. It takes an independent voter to figure it out.
I am an independent voter registered as a candidate for President with the Federal Election Commission, but so far unable to register with my state of residence as a candidate. They refuse to send me the forms for registering.
If elected, I will go to Guantanamo, load the "prisoners of war" onto airplanes, explain to them that they are less of a threat to the United States as enemy combatants than as foreign nationals being tortured by mentally ill political party members, and take them back where they came from. Then I will go to Iraq and coordinate the withdrawal of Americans from Iraq with the Iraqi government, which they have already requested numerous times.
Congress has sole power to declare war. Americans should not be sent to fight in extended military conflicts in foreign nations without a declaration of war.

More Moronic Muttering
Sorry, but I have no interest in even reading someone who is so careless that he blurs the difference between taxes and fees. Words have meanings.
I am beginning to think that our real problem is a bunch of narcistic pols and pundits who want attention for themselves. They are all sitting on the sidelines showing themselves to be self-interested oportunists out to make a buck on the election.
Fie on them all!

Umm, this article
is a bit of a stretch. Nice try... It's akin to "Hey, did you hear? John McLame used the F-word..."

Funny
McVain and his supporters must lie, or twist truths to win; now that shows character we really need in Washington, NOT!
We don't have to go back a decade or more to find McVain's flip-flops...most are occring during the course of this campaign (talk about telling them what they want to hear).
In the course of a ten year period, I changed my views on many things (moving more to the right of the political spectrum in the process), and I don't find that unusual; thing about Romney vs McVain is that over the last ten years or so as Romney moved to the right, McVain moved to the left!
I really don't think the Moveon.org strategy of smearing Bush2 over his role in the now 30 year old Vietnam days worked well with the GOP base; I don't think McVain and his supporters employing that strategy now to Romney will work any better for them.
Now, we are hearing the dissing of Romney's economic record in Mass as Gov; Whow do you bet the folks in Michigan wish Romney had been their Gov!
Romney raising taxes while in office is another twist on truth; he moved to close some corporate loopholes in the tax code which allowed more revenue to flow to the state, and rightly so, and he instituted user optional fee increases to recover state costs...also, very good and conservative. The DEMS before him had already brought on a general tax increase that he benefitted, from no doubt, and you could argue that instead of wiping out a $3 billion deficit in the state, if you play with the numbers you could say it was only half of that, but has the US national debt been reduced at all in the 26 years of McVains' tenure in Washington? You can't fudge those numbers to make it so.

AP story today
on Romney claims that he fudges the jobs numbers during his tenure, because he claims upwards of 80,000 jobs were created, and then points out that in Romney's first term some 54,000 jobs were lost, but when he left office Mass was some 34,000 to the good; now to me that means Romney regained the 54K, plus 34K, and that would seem to be somewhere north of 80,000.
Story claims Romney brought a major employer to Mass as Gov, but fails to mention it was the biggest to be attracted in modern memory.
So we go on and on, belittling the Romeny record and promomting the only things McVain can hang his hat on...playing nice with the Liberals, a 30+ year old war record, and his stalwart support of an Iraq strategy of another he would claim as his own.....WHOW.

oh, I forgot
McVain "managed" a naval flight wing back some 30 years ago BEFORE THERE WERE CELLPHONES, PERSONAL COMPUTERS, many of the recent remodels to business principles, etc.
oh, and he was "intelligent" enough to divorce the wife that supported him during his years abroad in the Hanoi Hilton and marry money (since he couldn't "manage" hisd way to his own).

I have not read
one thing of real substance here that is critical of Mitt. It is all baseless rhetoric. How about some proof. How about some documentation.

All of these Mitt hitters are nothing more than McCain liberals trying to make sure their guy gets in.

flip-flop, flip-flop
last decade Romney "flips" right and McVain "flops" left; I'll take the "flips", thank you.
Romeny has never cursed fellow Republicans like MCVain has, Romeny has never called his opponents in the GOP base "racists", "xenophobes", and "narrow minded" as McVain has.
Romney has never co-authored a sell-out of the people's free speech like McVain has.
Romney has never co-authored a sell-out of the sovereignty of this nationlike McVain has.
Romney has never mouthed a refusal to DEFEND this land's borders in a time of WAR and national CRISIS like "open borders" McVain has.
The American people are clamoring for REAL change in this election and providing them with a 71 year old (or is it 72 now), 25 year Washington insider, who has done nothing in his entire career life but work in the public sector, doesn't seem to fit that request to me somehow.

The only honest politicians are either
Ron Paul or out of the race. The honest ones won't say what the media wants to hear.

McCon's getting too senile to remember all of his lies, and Mitt generates them at a Clintonesque pace. The Huckster is stuck in the 18th century somewhere (I'm waiting for him to handle snakes).

BlEEEEEEEEEH!

Vietnam?
That was 40 years ago........did your buddy Rudy serve?

It's your own damn fault.
I'm sick and tired of the bellyaching coming from the hard-core conservatives. If Romney is who they're stuck with, and they can't sell him, it's their own damn fault.

The conservatives had plenty of time to find a GENUINE conservative champion. In fact, there was one ready to go: Duncan Hunter. Unlike Romney, Hunter's conservative credentials and credibility are impeccable.

But they bypassed Hunter and drafted a B-list actor named Fred Thompson instead.

Then, when Fred Thompson's candidacy failed to excite, they again ignored Hunter and tried to draft Newt Gingrich.

Then Newt Gingrich said he wasn't interested in running. Only then did they suddenly glom onto Romney. Suddenly Romney morphed into the second coming of Ronald Reagan, the savior of the entire conservative movement.

What a load of bull they've been giving us.

No wonder McCain is doing so well. He worked hard for it. Whereas the hard-core conservatives kept looking for a savior, someone to enter the race for whom everyone else would just swoon at his feet without their having to do any real work.

Didn't happen.

Mitt fortunate not to be
Mitt's statement that he was fortunate to not be part of the slaughter of 50,000. I'm glad I was not part of that too.

Today, I realised I was wrong and wish I served my country. Does this make me a flip-flopper.

Mitt did serve as a missionary. This was required by his church, but he did not run from it, like a previous president did.

I've read some shadey statements about McCain's POW. I'm not saying what they were, but it makes it understandable about his campaign fanancing bill that closes down 521's.

correction
521 were 527.

Remember this was the Vietnam group that was trying to correct the record glamorized by Kerry.

McCain should know because his people asked Kerry's people if McCain could share the ticket as VP.

Once he would be president though, he will no longer have the Bush Hate syndrome. He could consider standing up for the conservatives.

Mitt Romney
I don't care how much you try to run down Mitt Romney, he is far and away the best in the current field of Republican candidates for President. As for Senator McCain, don't make me laugh. He is a Democrat wearing a Republican tag; his legislative trail in the Senate proves that. If Governor Romney is not the candidate, I will grit my teeth and vote for the Republican nominee unless it is Senator McCain. If I wanted to vote for a Democrat, I would. If Senator McCain is the nominee, I will definitely vote for a third party candidate.

Mitt for president
Romney is the best man running.

SteveL
perhaps if the GOP restricted primary voters to REPUBLICANS, and left off allowing Independents and cross-over Democrats select its nominee, your post might have a shred og validity.
who do you think would have won NH, SC, and FL had the GOP been as careful about allowing its registered party members make those decisions. Oh, I forgot, FL WAS a closed Primary. Right, when some 17% of the GOP voters self-identified as Independents, and registration request were accpeted at many polling stations.
Come on.
Where do you think MCVain would be if the GOP nomination process was more level fair like the totally proportional Democrat's?
Why do you think Romeny seems to prevail with real majorities and not weak pluralities in GOP causus states? HMMM, could it be that only dedicated REPUBLICANS show up because it takes a little more effort and the other precinct GOPpers have a tendency to know their fellow GOP activists, being able to spot a Dem in diguise supporter of McVain in an instant?

Illegal Immigration
I have seen many times that Illegal Immigration is an 80% consensus vote to secure the borders, send the illegals home, enforce the laws of our nation and punish those businesses that knowingly hire illegals. Knowing this, how does McCain get any votes at all? I guess ignorance is one thing, but hard hardheadedness is one of the major factors.
If we elect John McCain as our Republican Candidate, the Illegal Immigration issue goes away, and most likely amnesty gets signed into law again.
Please people look at the issues. McCain hasn't flipped or flopped on this issue and is still wanting to give these criminals the right to live in our country after breaking the law to get here.

Romney and Vietnam
I'm tired of the "flip-flop" rhetoric. Governor Romney for all intents and purposes, always stayed true to his words on the campaign trail once elected. That is very different from John McCain. Flip-floping is more like what the senator has done in the midst of this election on the Bush tax cuts and protecting our borders, etc. Also, Romney didn't change his mind on Vietnam in the way you are making it sound. He made a poor choice as a younger man, the same as myself, and he regrets it, just as I do. My view on the Vietnam war changed as I grew older and was able to shed the brainwashing I endured during the sixties and early seventies from my liberal junior and seniour highschool teachers. I came to realized its relevance and justification only after years of reflection and study. Also, remember, one of the most recent presidents to champion the rights of unborn children, Ronald Reagan, at one point in his life signed one of the most liberal, pro-abortion pieces of legislation back in the sixties while the governor of California. He lived to regret that decision and did what he could to undo the damage once elected president. Was his "flip-flopping" something to hold against him or ridicule him over? I THINK NOT!

Sincerely,
Ludovico Provenzano
Macomb, MI

Pleanty of hatchet jobs today on Romney.
Saying you don't want to go to Vietnam years ago and saying you would like to have served in the military are contradictory? Hardly.
It's a nice try by a punk journalist that has no ability to be objective.
They must hand out Journalism degrees from a PEZ dispenser.

Which is worse
As we rake ourselves over the coals (which I think is great, btw) on the eve of the RNC championship game, I wish to interject a thought for any of you who can't support Romney because he's a "flip flopper". Let me ax you a question: which is worse, to change a position on an issue because you have changed your mind, or to continue to support a wrong policy even after you've been given time to change your mind? In other words, is Romney's change of opinion about, let's say, abortion, better, worse or no different than McCain's steadfast support of the blatantly unconstitutional campaign finance reform law? My point is, I think it preferable to support a candidate who sees the error of his past record and changes his mind to a candidate who was really, really wrong about CFR (and other things) yet will not change his view at a later time. Some might say that shows conviction, what it shows me is a guy whose own ego clouds his judgement.
I don't deny any of the Romney flip flops, and none of it matters to me. I didn't become a Romney guy until Fred bailed. He's not perfect, but he's better than McCain. And any of you out there who are drinking the cool aid that McCain is THE only candidate who can beat the democrats, it is unfortunate that you have been so successfully duped by the drive by media.

Here's one for the McVainiacs
Were all those who worked on the home front and i uniform but not in action theaters during WW2 (and all other wars for that matter) less patriotic than thiose who served in uniform in action theaters of that war?
It takes the effort of all, and I don't think anyone has suggested that Romney, what 16 years of age when we really got into it in Vietnam and 20 at the time of the "tet offensive" that for all intents and purposes began our withdrawal efforts, worked against the support of the war effort on the homefront.
Moveon.org's tactics to smear the current President over his Vietnam service didn't work and I don't think your efforts to smear Romney will be anymore successful!
As for McVain, due to his family history and how they made their living, he was already career military at the outset of the 'Nam.

McCain - Greed, power and Money
McCain POW, abandoned his model wife after he returned from his 5 yr. ordeal.

Her accident left her crippled, while he was in Viet Nam, and like Giuliani, McCain abandoned his wife, divorcing her after meeting his rich politically connected lover, who helped him into his political admission. He married his wealthy lover, and quickly find his way into politics.

Now McCain is using his political career to further his purpose, and just like he abandoned his wife, he turned against the GOP and basic principles, as has Huckabee, he will abandon America and the American people for exploit and greed in the international arena at the expense of America, like he is now dealing with Juan Hernandez for amnesty and illegal immigration. He has a lot of favors to pay. Are we willing to give up our birth right and our children’s birth right to those who have no respect for the law. Is this angry arrogant man and his corrupt friends the one's to lead our land?

Mitt Romney does not need money. He has been loyal to his sweetheart, wife, family and friends. They and their children’s families are examples of loyalty, faithfulness and integrity that is rare, in today’s world. Mitt Romney success is the fruit of honorable service through honorable people like you.

Mitt is true, chaste, benevolent, and believes in doing good to all people. He follows the admonition of Paul, he is positive, and hopes for all things, he has endured attaches against his faith, his character, as has his wife from the Boston news media. They found no fault, so they resorted to, "she looks to good to be true, disparaging her goodness and loyalty. I no longer trust, the Boston herald, or the Boston Globe.

The deck has been stacked against us, to tempt us and blind us, by their smears on the eve or this important vote. Our Vote Counts and they know it! Every Vote Counts,

This is about freedom, about facing the future with truth, honor and integrity.

OOOH, I must be a flip-flopper, too!
I didn't take piano lessons.
Now, I wish I had taken piano lessons.

What a flip-flop!

Romney may not have wanted to serve in Vietnam, when he preferred to serve his church and marry his sweetheart. When returning vets were treated like garbage. He was probably saying that military service provides valuable training in discipline and leadership experience that now, as a potential commander-in-chief, would add an increased understanding of military matters and give him additional credibility vs Napoleon.

This type of gotcha is beneath your dignity. All of us over 40 regret doing or not doing things. IT'S CALLED MATURITY!

Destruction of C/R alliance.
The first sentence gives clues to the antagonism and hatred the article writer feels about Romney. He use of Willard emphasizes it.
I too as a young fool was against the war in Viet Nam. Kennedy’s ‘domino theory’ did not make sense to me. Later I regretted the way the liberals refuse to accept responsibility for the killing fields and spit on the troops, don’t forget it was liberals that got us into that war in the first place. I left the party and became an independent.
All the hatred the liberals implanted about the right, took 25 years to get over and admit my Republican tendencies. “We will go after terrorists and states that SUPPORT terrorism” made Iraq in itself, a weapon of mass destruction. It didn’t need a bomb, it’s own path was bomb enough.
McCain destroyed 5 aircraft and it was his plane that shot a rocket accidently that killed 132 Navy guys on his ship, a crummy pilot like McCain was, no wonder he was shot down.
There is a different about flip flopping and honestly changing one’s mind.

John McCain can only be called
pro-life if you think experimenting on young, innocent human beings until you have killed them is a pro-life policy. John McCain supports government funded embryonic stem-cell research (ESCR). Not only does John McCain support ESCR, he wants pro-life supporters to pay for it. Anyone who thinks that is pro-life is sadly misinformed. If you are pro-life, you should not vote for John McCain.

Hey Deroy Murdock...I bet you too..
Regret that you have never servered in the military...Seriously.

I realize that being gay you would not have been well received...but that aside.

I find that many people whom did not serve...regret that they had not latter in life.

I believe Romney on this one :)

Do Mormons join the military?
I love that he has all the sons of prime military age and NOT ONE is in the military.

Mitt says they sever by working on his campaign.

This is an INSIGHT to the elite Bull crud that is in that long faced hair helmet head.

Of course Mormons are in the military but they often serve only one tour. As far as ratio that serve to population.... I don't know. I know they are more likely to do their Missionary work than serve society at large.

Lets not forget that Mormon's are considered cult members, believe Jesus is the Brother of the Devil. You can NOT leave the cult and if you reject it your are ostracized. Same with Muslims. You believe or you are out and really dead to them, figurative and literal.

That speech that Mitt made about how he will not reject his faith, he believes it 100% was a lie. He said he believes in Jesus as the one and only Lord and saviour. That is not a Mormon believe. Either he does not believe in all of the Mormon faith or he was lying about what he thinks Jesus is about.

Change of mind, or flip-flop?
Candidates are allowed to change their minds or evolve their position on an issue. Changing back and forth is a flip-flop. Changing once is not.

ROMNEY THE LAWBREAKER
ROMNEY'S CHARACTER IS EVEN WORSE. HE IS THE ACTUAL "FATHER OF SAME-SEX "MARRIAGE." Don't believe me, GOOGLE "THE MITT ROMNEY DECEPTION," Brian Camenker's outstanding - true - research on how Romney violated his sworn oath and illegally instituted gay "marriage" here in Massachusetts.

Romney's the man.

I agree with the preposition McCain will destroy the Republican/Conservative alliance. No doubt about it. There is a different about flip flopping and honestly changing one’s mind.

you obviously disagree with the concept of an all volunteer military.
do you realize the vast majority of Romney's sons' age groups are not serving in uniform?

Full of Lies
Sorry, Murdock, too many of your facts are completely wrong. Your distortions make honest people blush. If you want a better Mitt Romney hit piece on the eve of Super Tuesday, you at least need to eliminate the blatant lies.

Follow someone who publishes lies or support a good man? I'm following a good man.

Romney '08

Deroy,
I've done a google search of your name and turned up article after article which would indicate that you're actually a pretty conservative guy.
Your positions on global warming and national security, as well as illegal migration (that's what we're really talking about) are to the right.
So what gives with slamming Romney?
Have you enjoyed the last 7 years that much that you want to leave the running of the country in the same beltway groove?
I have always been wary of senators, and when they run for POTUS I dig deep.
If Romney's record as gov. is left of center, keep in mind that he was running Teddy Kennedy and John Kerry's state, and no matter how right wing you drive, it was Taxechussettes before Romney and will be a lefty haven for decades to come.
I don't hang that on him; I hang it on the lefty
Massachusettes voter who checks yes every time a box appears on a ballot.

my wish
My wish is these comments would have as much volume as this gotcha journalist with this salacious titled article.

This article doesn't make sense
He said in 1994 that at the time of the war, he did not want to go. Your argument is not good at all.

At the time of the war, I was a rebel and a Hippie. I have said many times in recent years that I wish I had gone into the army, it might have knocked some sense into me. That does not make me a liar and a hypocrit.

Is anyone the same person they were ten or twenty years ago? Since when is civil rights for every American, no matter their lifestyle, a vote for same-sex marriage? None of this article makes sense and it hinders mankind.

The amazing thing about this debate
What amazes me about this whole debate is the willingness of many on this site to support a "newcomer" to the conservative movement like Romney over a solid conservative like McCain. The fact that Romney's support stems from extreme hatred for McCain is also very troubling to me.

The article, in my opinion, points out that Romney's evolution toward conservatism is simply for political expediency. If you take Romney's myriad changes of position holistically, I think it is rather evident that he would say anything to be elected president.

McCain, on the other hand has basically stuck to his positions on issues that are unpopular with his base. This shows that he is a man of conviction. To be honest, I don't find his policy positions on many of the issues he is attacked on all that troubling, except for McCain-Feingold. I think that McCain realizes the complexity of the many issues facing us. And, he is and was right on many of them.

Some of these are well documented. For example, the gang of 14 actually led to the confirmation of more conservative judges. I think that waterboarding is torture and damages America's reputation in the world community. And, many Republicans think that something should be done about global warming (Newt Gingrich).

At this time in our history, we can't afford to nominate an equivocating, stick your finger in the air to see which way the political winds are blowing, candidate like Romney. That is why I think that McCain is the best choice.

by the way
527s are still legal.

Yeah right
You call this flip flopping ? Regretting something you did as a teenager. Oh please you've got to do better than that.

Flip flop
OK guys, it's OK for someone to say they "now" wish they had done something or other. Yep,that is called having a different perspective. It's another matter to say you "wanted to do something" (i.e. fight in Vietnam), and were actually caught saying just the opposite at the very same time. That my friends is called a lie!

Don't be deceived, never listen to what a politician has to say during an election. Look at their record and you will see their real beliefs! As the old saying goes, 99% of all politicians are lying when they move their lips!

Rob from VA ...meet Romney the 1%...
He is the real thing IMHO :)

maggie is right. This is not a flip-flop
It is not a flip-flop to have declined to volunteer for Vietnam as a youth and then, in middle age, wish you had contributed more.

I have the same feeling about Vietnam as Romney. I didn't volunteer, and I got lucky in the lottery so I wasn't drafted.

Today, after witnessing how it turned out, I have mixed feelings. On one hand I wish I had contributed more to the Vietnam War, as I always believed we were doing the right thing there. On the other hand, the one thing that prevents me from having full-blown regret that I didn't volunteer, didn't contribute, is the knowledge that any effort I had made would have been wasted by the cowardice of DC politicians.

The fact that Romney may be feeling the same kind of twinges of regret that I have does not make him a flip-flopper. Nor does it even approach the lies and misrepresentations that the McCain camp has perpetrated about both McCain's and Romney's records.

Finally, what does Vietnam have to do with this year's election? Does anyone think that Romney will pull the rug out from under the troops in Iraq the way the Democrats did in Vietnam? Or do they think that McCain became a strategical-tactical genius by getting his plane shot down and spending 5 years in the Hanoi-Hilton?

If so, let me give you a couple of clues. (1) FDR never served in the military, but he won WWII. Reagan also didn't serve in the military, but he won the Cold War. (2) Gen. George Patton, a true American military hero, told his troops "No b*st*rd ever won a war by dying for his country. He won it by making the other poor, dumb b*st*rd die for his country. In McCain's case we can safely say that no one ever won a war by getting his multi-million dollar airplane shot out of the sky either.

Romney is weasel
Spin all you want folks, but this guy has shown yet again that he has no scruples. In 1994 when Mitt 'Offshore Tax Haven' Romney was trying to woo a liberal electorate in MA, he states re:Vietnam:

"I was not planning on signing up for the military. It was not my DESIRE to go off and serve in Vietnam..."

Now that he's running against a Vietnam POW and courting conservative voters, not serving is one of his greatest regrets. Huh???

Mitt is lower than a snake's belly.

McCain After Hanoi Hilton
Steriod John McCain allows 1.5 Million Illegals to cross his borders each year. He says, " I know how to secure the borders". He cannot secure Arizona's borders. How does he plan to secure America's borders and keep us safe from murderers, rapists and thieves?

John McCain wants to close Guantanamo Bay Cuba; He fights to give captured terrorists rights in U.S Courts and the right to sue; He fights to ban 'waterboarding"; He formed the obtructionist "Gang of 14" which was against the President's judicial nominations; He is an "Al Gore" global warming wimp with his McCain/Lieberman Energy Bill; He assaulted free speech with his McCain/Feingold Bill; He violates our laws with his McCain/Kennedy Amnesty Bill.

McCain/Hernandez are "my friend" buddies. Will he be the next DHS?

Romney's the man.
"... don’t forget it was liberals that got us into that war in the first place.

Eisenhower began America's involvement in Viet Nam following the French pull out after Dien Bien Phu I believe.
Speaking of Troops, let us not forget it was this current administration who sent our Troops to Iraq, undermanned, ill equiped and directionless ("mistakes were made").

bryce3 you sound like ...
a Lib in your 11:12 post. If I am mistaken...
My profound apologies :)

SO???
We should vote for McShame? Who never ever flip flopped? Like maybe on immigration Who, on many occasions, went against his own party. Who sides Kennedy. Who is supported by the NY Times.
Who treats our own veterans like S%%t? Who screwed the Vietnam Pows? I dont think so.

This is what I like about the right...

You state the truth and they jump all over you and start name calling. I think the real question is, why none of the Fighting 5th (Romney's kids) ever served, you would think the old man would harange at least one of them to do so since he is so obviuosly gung ho. Ron ROTFLMAO

A Spicy Reproach!
The real Legacy:
My oldest son, has served for the past 20 years. You despicable hypocrite. If you were a patriot you would have some integrity that shows respect. You will have to show you medal before I would believe someone with a story like yours. My son went over in the last stages of Deseret Storm. He had an opportunity to shake George H. W. Bush‘s Hand. He is proud of his service, but the care of the vets stinks to high heaven. He went over in the second command to Iraq. He was injured and was lucky to get back. He served in Korea some time last year, and by God if you don't quit your insults on an honorable man, you don't know, you have got to more need of help that Mitt Romney..

ENOUGH OF YOUR BASHING, ARE YOU A PERVERT?

You have no respect, which is obvious. You have left enough content to know how inconsistent your post is. Your posts are all over Town Hall.

I do not hate you son, but your attitude, purpose and behaviour has much to be desired. Your tricks for kicks is shameful.

Another confirmation
Another example of a vacuous politician who will say and do anything to win a seat. How can anyone give their vote to Romney? If he's elected, which Romney would show up to take the oath of office? As Barbara Bush once said of another candidate - "He's scarey".

Ron ROTFLMAO
You wouldn't know the truth if it bit you in the a**.

How many kids do you have serving in the military?

McCain's kids serve because they come from a long line of military officers. They wanted the same preferential treatment their daddy got.
